- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Well, hey everybody.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to yet another exciting episode of the Steve and Jeff Experience Podcast.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: I'm Steve.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: And I'm Jeff.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: How's it going, Steve?
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, Jeff, it is going so well.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: You know, you know, Jeff, you know, I was listening before this show tonight.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: I was listening to our last one.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: This is actually lucky number 13, is our 13th podcast.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: And it is lucky because, you know, I was listening to that other one, and and you said in that last podcast that we're trending.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: And let me tell you, Jeff, I may be from the future, but you are psychic because we are in fact trending.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: We're trending, you know, I looked up, I looked up, you know, that thing, uh, you know, where they keep track of podcasts, what Google Diuretics, I think it's called dictionaries.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, yeah, you know, it's like Google.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I did I've been running the bathroom ever since I looked it up, so I don't know what that means.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: But but Google Diuretics, and according to them, we had the biggest percentage increase in audience of any podcast last week.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Because I think Meg's parents listened, and then they probably brought somebody else that listened.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: So we had a huge percentage increase.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Now, you know, it's going from like 11 to 14, but that's a big percentage increase, Jeff.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: That is huge.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Well, and I think that we sometimes, Steve, we're in the bubble, so we don't know the excitement that is going around outside of our bubble about our bubble.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: And so I, you know, it's it's very exciting.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: So, hey, Steve, I just want to tell you something that happened this week.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: I think you'll find it kind of funny.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: Um, this is the uh today actually is the anniversary of my father's death.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: He was eight.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: So far, so far this is hilarious, yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: It gets it gets so much funny.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: All right, it gets better.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: You know, this is uh there's an audience that would laugh, but you know, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, go ahead.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: And my dad was kind of a funny guy.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: So, you know, anyway, so yeah, yeah, so he dies uh so he was he died 20 years ago today, um 2002.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Here's the cool part.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: August 23rd he died, he was born August 23rd of 1922.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: So I went to go see the the gravestone.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Wow, it's the same date with a different year.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Is that not funny?
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Is that not isn't that cool?
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: And and here's the here's the really funny part.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Some of the vandals in the area went in there and changed that zero to a two to a two.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: So it looks like he was born and died on the same day.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: I couldn't stop laughing.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Same day.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Wow, it was hilarious.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: I just I couldn't believe it.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: So I was like, I was thinking, what are you?
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: Like I'm confused.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: I wonder, I wonder if your dad was from the future because he came in and went out the same day, but he lived a long time.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: That sounds like somebody from the future.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: There's a guy from the future I know who does that.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: I I bet I bet.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it's also a lot of numbers.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a lot of numbers, so it's it's kind of a math problem, but uh, but like I said, I want to shout out to the vandals who changed the uh changed the date because if I had been there, I probably would have done it ahead of them.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: That is so I'm you know, I gotta admit that is pretty funny.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: So but I I digress, but I just wanted to share that with you.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: I thought you would I thought you would enjoy that.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: That is good.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Well, and and Jeff, you know, you know, this lucky number 13 podcast is getting better and better because you know who we have in our studio tonight?
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Well, you can look right over there and see who we've got in our studio tonight, right?
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Look over.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm so excited.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: You remember her, you remember Constance?
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Well, I do.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: You know, she wanted to.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: I ran into her the other day.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I was at the grocery store and I was I was looking at the real estate books, and she came over and said, Hey, want to buy something?
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Wanna buy?
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: And it was her.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: And so we started talking, and you know, one thing led to another, and I think she's a little different, she seemed a little different, so but she had some interesting stuff.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: So let's let's let's bring her on here.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Hey, Constance, welcome back.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Hi, Constance.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Thank you very much.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: How about you?
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Wait, is this Constance?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: This is different.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: See, see, I told you how different, you know.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Now, Constance, you know, last time you were here, you're real, a real firebrand.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, what you know, you seem very very calm now.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: What's what's the difference?
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: Well, uh I went to the doctor and he thought perhaps that I should be a little more relaxed and stop taking the math.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, uh, you know, that sounds like a good doctor.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't stop taking meth.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: That's that's pretty good medical advice, I would say.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: You know, did you did you sell them any timeshares?
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: I think that's what you were doing.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: Or is that what you're doing now?
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: You're selling timeshares?
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: No, not so much.
- 4:49SPEAKER_04: Uh along with uh, you know, helping medicate me a little bit so that a little bit Connor.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: Uh I decided there's nothing in timeshares.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: You know, I can do better than that.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: So you're you're selling just regular real estate now, right?
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, I yeah, you could say that.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Well, that's that's great because I know, hey, you know, in fact, we've only lived in this house three years.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: And just last night, my wife said, you know, we should move.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, come on, what do you do?
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: So we may be talking to you, Constance, but you know, that's uh that's great.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: The real estate market's been pretty hot.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I think it's yeah, is it cooling off a little bit, or is it uh is it calming down kind of like as you're calming down, it's calming down a little bit too?
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh, I think it's going real down.
- 5:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, real down.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: It's uh it was a great thing for me to, you know, start doing.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Not a good thing to be doing now, right?
- 5:49SPEAKER_04: Well, not the timeshares, but you know, yeah, yeah, selling you know, things like different things are that's always a that's always a good thing, even for me.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, even yeah.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: So so Constance selling real estate, are we talking about like homes, like uh property where you could build a house?
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: Because I'm in Chicago, Steve's in Omaha, but uh you know, this podcast thing, this whole thing is taken off like crazy.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: And I was thinking maybe I would move to Omaha at some point, pack up the family.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: So is that what you're doing?
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: You're selling um, you know, land where we could uh build a house?
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, perhaps.
- 6:27SPEAKER_04: Uh the business I'm in is is called the development type thing.
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: I guess you can call it that is uh called God's Little Acres.
- 6:35SPEAKER_04: Uh one of the things.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: That's a great little name, you know.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: That was a fun book.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, my mom wouldn't let me read that book when I was a kid, but that's you know, it's a fun little book.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you know, you know, Jeff, you really should consider moving to Omaha because Omaha is the podcast capital of the country, it's equally inconvenient from wherever you are to get to Omaha.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: So we got it made, right?
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm very interested.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: So tell me a little bit more about like what so so let's let's use me as a as an example.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: So if I want to go and uh buy some property there and you know, like what what's the area like?
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Is it is it on a hill?
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: Is it flat?
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Is it what's it like there?
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Absolutely beautiful.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, there's the old consist coming back.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, lots of uh lots of green, lots of, you know, it's pretty flat.
- 7:30SPEAKER_04: Has she got back there?
- 7:32SPEAKER_04: It would just be perfect for you.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: We have perfect little areas and you know, development type things, uh perfect area for you.
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: I I definitely I guarantee it.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you know, you know, Jeff, when I was when I ran into her, I like I say I was looking through this real estate book because my wife had said, you know, hey, we've got to move.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: And I was like, well, you know, whatever, I better be ready, you know, because you gotta be ready.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: You gotta be ready.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Pays to be ready.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: But I digress.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: But I was looking through this real estate book and I saw Constance's picture all over a bunch of different developments in this book, you know, and you know, those little magazines they have at the checkout, yeah, real the houses for sale and stuff.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Her her picture was all over these developments.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, there were some, they sounded really cool.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: I'm you know, being from the future, a guy from the future, I'm kind of a history buff too, you know, because I I like to go back in the past as well.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: And and they had some great names.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: They had one uh I I think it was one development called uh Indian Burial Trails or something.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: I I thought that was that really that interested me.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: A lot of well, there's a lot of history to that, I'm sure, right?
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: It's probably pretty, pretty cool area.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: Uh there's probably a lot of fog in the pictures, but you know, it seemed uh seemed pretty nice.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: Seemed pretty nice.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: A lot of hills.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: There was one uh something about Meet the Reaper or Beat the Reaper or something, uh, you know, which that I kind of didn't get it, but it was right near a farm.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: So I thought, well, it's old farmland, you know, reaping, whatever, you know, reap what you sow, all that good stuff.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: Well, well, Constance, while Steve was talking, I just Googled God's little acre in Omaha, and uh, I'm seeing what you're selling, and I'm very interested.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: I just have one question though.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: It says there that uh none of the um homes that they will be building are allowed to have basements in them.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: And I was just wondering, is is there is that like a statute?
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: Is that a an Omaha thing?
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: Is it because of earthquakes or something where they just you know they don't like to go underground?
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: No, I'm in an Omaha basement right now, even as we speak.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, we love basements here.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Basements are we're all over basements.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Well, that's interesting.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Constance, why would kind of fill me in on why we wouldn't be able to put in a basement?
- 9:41SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, they're very special places and they got a lot of history to them.
- 9:47SPEAKER_04: You know, the Reaper place is great, the other place is great, God's, you know, everything is wonderful there.
- 9:54SPEAKER_04: But you know, you really don't need a basement in these places.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: They're they have enough.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: A basement would would distract from the enjoyment of the property.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: And I think that makes sense.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: You know, and and I gotta ask Constance with you know, God's little acre, is it is this like the uh the dippers in the sky?
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Is there God's big acre somewhere too?
- 10:15SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, God has a lot of things, and He's got a few acres, yeah.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of real estate, yeah, and there's a lot of history about it, and you know, there's there's all kinds of things to investigate there and to look at.
- 10:30SPEAKER_04: Things that things and people you'll meet that you maybe haven't seen for years, and um wow.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: What was I gonna say?
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Uh especially like in that foggy, those foggy pictures.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: I bet there were some people probably walking around.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I thought I saw like people and they very vague sort of figures.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: So I bet those are some of the neighbors coming to have a little potluck with the new arrivals.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: And I like that, but constants I also like my privacy.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: Am I gonna be like, are people gonna be you know, knocking on my door all times of the night?
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: No, I hate that in the morning.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: I hate that, you know.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: I want you know, and and sometimes I do stuff that you know I don't want to share with anyone else.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, I like that I like to kind of be in an urban setting, but at the same time kind of have land.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Does that fit with what you're selling?
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: Very much so.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: Um actually, there are sometimes there's people walking around.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: It just and it is a little foggy in the evening, there's no rhyme or reason to it.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: Each one is the same, but kind of different as far as the scenery, as far as the history, as far as the kind of people that are there.
- 11:42SPEAKER_04: It's just there's uh what was I gonna say?
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: There's all kinds of stuff, and I guarantee you, just like those what was I gonna say?
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Well, see, see, see, I think I think the meth was a key to her memory.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: And maybe it was a false memory, but it was a memory, and now she doesn't have either memory.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: Ooh.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Don't you think that's harsh?
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Well, it might be, and you know, you know, maybe while she's thinking, I Jeff, I gotta tell you, we got a great new sponsor.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Uh one new sponsor.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: They're all these online dating services, you know, just they're they're uh they're all over the place.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: But uh they have a lot of them that say, you know, this is we're better for women, whatever.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: This is this is a dating service for guys, you know, this is a dating service guys are gonna want to go to, you know?
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: And I think uh I am really excited to present this new this new sponsor here.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Let me uh uh you know what here, let's uh let's let's go to commercial.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Men are the women you meet on dating services into things like yoga or keto diets.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Are you tired of paying for a whole date and not even getting a first diet?
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Then try fumble.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: A dating service for us guys.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: With fumble, you can find a woman with just a right backfield, and you'll never have to worry about being called for holding.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: We screen every babe carefully, so you can be sure there are no ineligible receivers on our team.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Quit riding the bench.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Join the team on Fumble.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: With Fumble, you'll always hold on to the balls.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't know about you guys, but uh I think, you know, and of course I'm I'm married, so I don't think my wife would like it if I joined the dating service, you know?
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: I don't because well, you know, maybe if I can show that I'm a direct descendant of a settler and then have that exception, you know, in in Nebraska law, but you know, that just that just really Yeah, but Steve, you don't really know until you ask, you know.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm gonna uh because I'm I'm so excited.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: So when Kathy gets home, uh one of the first things I want to sit down and talk to her about is uh is there a way for us to build in dating into our marriage?
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which I think makes complete sense.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: And and you know, make sure she understands not like a date night with you guys.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, you'd be dating other.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no, yeah, yeah.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: And to be honest, I got a feeling she's been doing a little dating already, if you know what I mean.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: Don't know that for sure, but uh, you know, I'm guessing.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Well, see, my wife's a scientist, so she's been doing carbon dating.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just got it all over her hands, too.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: But anyway, but I digress, but I digress.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: For instance, this uh new project that you're working on, this development, this real estate development, this real estate tract, it's got some interesting names there, you know.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Uh Indian Burial Ground, Meet the Reaper.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: Uh-oh.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Uh-oh.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, I think, you know, I think during the I'm surprised anybody could sleep during that commercial, that fight song.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: But I think she nodded off during the commercial.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: One thing, you know, you know, I gotta say, the these meds you're on, uh, much more pleasant, but you are a little sleepy, I gotta tell you.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: A little bit, a little sleepy.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Might want to look at the dosage a little, you know.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: And and and Steve, uh, I you were probably dosing off during this, but what Steve was asking about the origin of some of these names of these uh areas.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: And you know what's funny, Steve, is I used to work in uh the horse industry years ago, and some of the suburbs that used to be horse farms are now subdivisions, but they keep the same names of what the horse farms were.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: So it'd be like secretariat estate or shovel, shovel drive or shovel.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: Shovel, yeah, uh, and and so I don't know, Constance, is there any any relationship between what these used to be before they are being developed for real estate and and what they are now uh based on their name?
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: No.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: They just names are like I sell them, you know, whatever.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: And I think that's good news, Steve, because uh a lot of these things kind of sound like cemeteries.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: I don't want to be, you know, I mentioned my dad, you know, you know what happened with my dad, so maybe I have cemeteries on my mind.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: You know, that's what I was thinking.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it's that story, but you know, it it's kind of a kind of a death theme going through her her projects here, you know.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Well, where where where is this located?
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: Steve, are you familiar with Omaha in general?
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: Like if you if you yeah, I think you've heard of God's little acre.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: I think one of these was right by uh we have a national cemetery just a little bit outside of town.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: I think one of them was right by there, and then one was near this.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Well, it was like used to be Indian ground, you know, Native American ground.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: But uh, and then another one I think I want to say was Memorial Park was one of them.
- 16:42SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: So now I'm thinking they all do have sort of a funereal feel to them, if you know what I mean.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: I I don't know what funereal means, but uh I like the word.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: I bet it's a funereal without saying fun, right?
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: So, Steve, you're saying that those areas are close to the real estate, or I I I'm just I I I I'm hoping that we're not discovering something.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: Well, um, you know, I don't know.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: I haven't been out to the to the actual sites, but you know how they have those maps in the books, right?
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: And they're not really maps to scale.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: So they would have this big star that said, you know, God's little acre, and then right behind it, it's you know, you'd see this little tiny National Cemetery.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: And then the other one was like Meet the Reaper Drive, you know, then little tiny in the background, Memorial Park.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: So I don't know, you know, I haven't seen it, but they seem like they're pretty close, if not maybe even the same.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: Is that possible, Constance?
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: That you're selling real estate that that was a there were cemeteries?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Are these people are buying houses on cemeteries?
- 17:57SPEAKER_04: Well, there's lots of trees and there's lots of flowers, and like you said, there's hills.
- 18:02SPEAKER_04: The one I was picking for you was on Earth Drive.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're they're kind of boxy little areas that you can buy.
- 18:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Well, well, well, you you you know, Jeff, the nice thing about uh a cemetery in the city, if you had your house in a cemetery in the city, you would have an urban location, but you'd still be pretty isolated.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: You'd still have your quiet.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Steve, I love it.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: That's kind of nice.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, and I think some of these cemeteries are just a waste of space.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: You know, I mean, you uh why just have the dead stay there when you can have young families grow?
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: It's the circle of life.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: Sure, exactly.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: And now it kind of makes sense why you don't uh have basements.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: I assume you're you're not relocating some of the some of the gravestones.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: So do they still exist under the houses?
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: Well, um, did I mention that you can, you know, sometimes there's pets, you know, nearby, a little higher up over, you know, a bridge.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: Uh Joe, what did you ask?
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Pets.
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, where are you?
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: So there are pets.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: That peeve up there.
- 19:11SPEAKER_04: Who am I who am I talking to again?
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Ah, yes, he's I think this is starting to sound like Consus again.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: This is what I'm thinking.
- 19:20SPEAKER_04: Well, what the fuck can I say?
- 19:22SPEAKER_04: You know, and you know, you know, maybe nice places.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, you know, Consus, if they design the house just right, if they have it sit with the right angle, they could have the headstones, they could have a line of headstones that would be like your retaining wall.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: And then you'd have, and maybe you could have if they have like a really nice ornate statue or a fountain or something, you could put that, you could build like a courtyard, and you'd have that in right in the courtyard.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: So, Jeff, this could be this could really be nice.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: These could be some nice houses.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: And you know, I I didn't tell you this, Steve, but you know, I had to go about it, it was almost an hour's drive to go to the cemetery where my dad is.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: And if I could have just gone downstairs, right, exactly, and he was right there, it would have been awesome.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: I would have visited more often, you know, I would I would see him more often.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he's right, and the headstone's right in the retaining wall.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Now, the vandals wouldn't have been able to change the numbers inside the retaining wall, so oh well, wouldn't they have that?
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: But but I digress, he would be really close.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: You'd be like you never really left your family, you know what I mean?
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Well, uh, and you know, the vandals we're talking about are actually my grandchildren, so oh okay, you know, so they still would be around.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, they'd be they could break in the wall, yeah.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: So, Constance, now I'm even more excited.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: I think you really have hit on something.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Uh besides the mess.
- 20:45SPEAKER_04: So I'm sorry, I forgot who I was talking to.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: I thought it was somebody that I was talking on NPR with.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: I can't say enough about these little box areas.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, I didn't mean to say box, but you can put boxes on them and very ornated things.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: And I think Sleepy Drive is the place for you.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: Um, it's very futuristic for you two, anyway.
- 21:12SPEAKER_04: Um, was your name?
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: And you know, yeah, Jeff.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: Jeff is uh Steve is I'm Steve, he's Jeff.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: But but Jeff, you know, when she when she said little boxes, I know you're you're the same age I am, you're an old folk music guy, right?
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Remember, you remember that great old song, Little Boxes?
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: It's like little boxes on the hillside, little boxes in the cemetery, little boxes.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, it's time for a comeback with that great old song, you know.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: Or was that John Mellencamp?
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Was that little boxes or little houses?
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, little people.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Because they're the same thing.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: Right, exactly.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: And Constance, I think when you end up building your property, you should go to uh meth lane.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Um I'm sure that would be the perfect place for you to build a house.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: I drive by there a lot.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: I get a lot of flat tires, man.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of lot of needles from there.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Woo, gotta be careful.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: You gotta really get Your way around it, but uh yeah, no, it's that'd be a great place to live, bad uh Constance, whatever your name is.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: She's got me doing it now.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: Look at this, pass some of that over here.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: She's got me doing it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: Wow, you guys really do belong in these places.
- 22:16SPEAKER_04: You'll be down under for the rest of your immortal lives, and we won't have to be Australian, but we could still be down under.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: You really have the best of both, you know.
- 22:24SPEAKER_04: That's what I what was I talking about?
- 22:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I was talking about.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think it was that.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: Everyone can visit you from the future, yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: Past they can like creep in and you know there are a lot of people from the past, I bet there aren't there.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: Definitely, definitely.
- 22:42SPEAKER_04: Are you sold yet?
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: I mean, I am, yeah.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: See, Jeff, I think you ought to you ought to move, you ought to move to Omaha and and get one of get in on this on these little boxes deals, you know?
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: Um they're not quite boxes.
- 22:58SPEAKER_04: I mean, they'll be boxes, but they they're not, oh, I don't know how to say it.
- 23:02SPEAKER_04: They're not on the ground.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: They're you get a basement under the ground with your box.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: It's uh oh.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, so the house comes complete with the casket.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: So then at death, you're just you still live in the same house.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: It's just you're down, you're in the basement at that point, right?
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Ooh.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: Now, would I be able it sounds like uh Constance is gone again for a second?
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: She she may be in in with one with some of the spirits.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: I think you know, you're because you're doing that kind of you know, where you're remodeling their area, yeah.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: And I don't know if all of them really like that.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: So Constance, are you are you picking up some psychic vibes from somewhere?
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: Don't call me a spirit, first of all.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: I have psychic vibes for the you, okay?
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: I have some have some sorry, I have a perfect your relatives will be there.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: It's what was I saying?
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: It's a it's a perfect place, especially for you, Joe.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, great place.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: You should change your name when you move too.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: It's it'd be you know, I will.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: You save a letter, and just think how much time you save over a lifetime of signatures, one letter less.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Hey, yeah, um yeah, you don't need letters.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know that I know that Kathy would uh would be mad at me if I didn't ask this.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: So the kitchen for the kitchen, she has always had her her dream kitchen would have a hearth, you know, it'd be like a an open area where there's fire, and you you know, kind of you put things in and then you close it up and you cook it, and then it turns to, you know, some of it turns to ashes.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: Is that possible to do that, or is that in conflict with the burial theme?
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we have lots of ashes, you know, we have lots of ashes spread everywhere, you know, everywhere, everywhere.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: I would think, yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: And there's probably, you know, they probably it's it's probably like uh, you know, one of those communities where there's a clubhouse, and at the big clubhouse, they have those big ovens, you know, that you could probably, gosh, everybody could probably cook at the same time.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: And they're really high heat.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: Boy, you put a steak in there for 30 seconds, it's it's medium well.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: You know, you really don't want to leave it in there too long.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: That's a high heat.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you know, uh there's nothing better than cooking a tombstone pizza.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, you know, in a heart.
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: So, you know, those are just the best.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you can slide it all the way in like they do in the the pizzeria, you know, get one of those paddles, yes, slide it all the way back.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: So you can make like 10 pizzas at the same time, you know?
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: Well, you uh you you have a um a winning model here, and it's endless because there's there's property everywhere, there's there's cemeteries everywhere.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think Omaha's gonna be the model, and then they're gonna take this nationwide.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, wow.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: So you're in you're in on the uh six feet under floor, so to speak.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: I don't want to say ground floor because you're like below the ground floor.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's right.
- 25:57SPEAKER_04: I'm not under there.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: Get it, I'm right here.
- 26:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: No, you're right, yeah.
- 26:02SPEAKER_04: See?
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: The other side of the glass, yeah.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: No, I and your wife could easily be in those ovens, just with you, even.
- 26:08SPEAKER_04: You know, you get takeout, you know, get takeout people spread ashes.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: It's just oh fuck, it's a wonder.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, I do get funny you should say that because I, you know, I I do get cold on a lot of nights, and uh, you know, if I just kind of got up next to one of those big ovens, I probably wouldn't have to spend much time there at all.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: I'd really warm up.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: And I suspect, Steve, that uh in that community, there's a lot of people that are cold.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, I bet very cold.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: It's probably very yeah, yeah, a lot of breeze, a lot of cold breezes going through there.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: Do you have much problem with because I you know thinking about the vandals and the the people that change the numbers on on Jeff's dad's headstone.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: Uh do you have much problem with that, with people breaking into the cemetery or you know, people that want to come in and drink or you know, fool around or desecrate or anything like that?
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: They're all good people.
- 26:59SPEAKER_04: I've partied with many of them.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, especially on Halloween.
- 27:02SPEAKER_04: We love Halloween and oh yeah.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Well, and a lot of them do math.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: So yeah, you would probably fit right in.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it'd be yeah.
- 27:11SPEAKER_04: It's it's wonderful to go down under, you know.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: You're you're immortal at that point, you know.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: I bet Halloween, I bet Halloween's the big holiday there, right?
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: What do you think, right?
- 27:23SPEAKER_04: I party.
- 27:24SPEAKER_04: I party, um, well, I get a lot of other things there.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: Um I get a lot of flowers.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, I I shouldn't say I take a lot of flowers, but and I like to, you know, decorate those fuck, they're tombstones, okay?
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: You're gonna be under the damn grave, okay, forever.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: You know, immortal.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: You could come leave, peeve.
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: Well, what's your name?
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Steve's Jeff, I think it's wearing off.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: It's wearing off.
- 27:53SPEAKER_04: No.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: No.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: Well, you had me, you had me at a meth, I guess.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: As soon as you said that, I was I was game.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm ready to go.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: You know, I can't wait.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Well, that'd be that'd be great, Jeff, because you know, Godzilla Acre is uh not all that far from where I live.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: We could actually do we could do like a live podcast.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: We could do like a real-time podcast.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Wow, that'd be perfect.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: A remote real-time podcast from from the cemetery.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you, Constance.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: You you made my day.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: Constance, that this has just been this has been illuminating, and you know, it it kind of gives new meaning to finished basement.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: But but I digress, but uh it does.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: It does uh yeah, you know, this really has it it it opens so many new possibilities because Constance, you know I'm from the future, and I gotta tell you, this isn't the thing in the future, so I'm not sure this is gonna work, but while it's here, you enjoy it because it might not last, you know what I'm saying?
- 28:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think even you might like one when you get to the present, you know.
- 29:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, you know, and you can visit your wife.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: Buy a lot from me.
- 29:09SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: Buy a lot from you.
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I might even, you know, give you some peppy uppers or poopy donors or ducky webers.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you, you know, oh constance.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: There's nobody I would trust more with the intricacies of a real estate deal than Constance.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: Let me just tell you that.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I know that she's gonna be right on top of those inspections and the mortgage and the rate locks and all that, all that fun stuff.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: I love to sit on top of things.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: I you know, I I didn't know that, but I kind of knew that.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: You know, say it, I I'm not surprised.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: I'm not surprised.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, listen, we uh we're about to get booted from the studio here, but listen, Constance, it's been great, and I'm sure we're gonna be talking to you about real estate deals.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Because if my wife says one more time we gotta move, ooh, then we really gotta do it.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: See, first time I'll let it go.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Second time, ooh, I I gotta do it.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: You know, you know, you know how that you know how that works.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: I do, and Constance, it was just great uh seeing you again.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: And Steve, I gotta go back and check out my dad's tomb stuff.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe put the zero back in.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: I think I will.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: What the heck, you know?
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: Or maybe make it like a one.
- 30:19SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: That would make him like nine before he was born.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: Before he was born, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: I'll work on that.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Constance.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Constance.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: And hey, we will be back next time with another exciting guest.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Jack.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Can't wait.
