- 0:14Speaker 1: Over my horizon, she's a slice of heaven.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Piece of heaven. Oh, no. Well, I just said Kevin
- 0:22Speaker 2: because Kevin Walters is the coach of the.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Oh, the Australian World Cup Rugby League team. Yes.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Australian Kangaroosa.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yes, indeed. So, World Cup kicking off. Australia, New Zealand
- 0:32Speaker 3: tonight now.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Do you actually, just quickly, do you ever play Prime
- 0:37Speaker 2: Minister's 13? No.
- 0:38Speaker 1: No, you didn't get a trip up there? No, I
- 0:39Speaker 1: got picked.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Oh, actually, that's always a good thing because it means that...
- 0:43Speaker 2: I always knew that if I was playing in PNG
- 0:46Speaker 2: for the Prime Minister's 13, it means the Broncos went back.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Because again, it used to be the weekend before the
- 0:56Speaker 2: grand final.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I think I got, I could be wrong, but I'm
- 1:01Speaker 1: going to go four or five times I got told
- 1:03Speaker 1: by somebody at the club that I got pulled out.
- 1:06Speaker 1: of selections because they wanted me to have surgery or.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, because your body was always failing.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Or they didn't want me to go because of my body.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And I went, no, yeah, don't worry about it. It's
- 1:18Speaker 1: all good. I'll just never make it. We went up
- 1:21Speaker 1: there one year for a trial match. P & G,
- 1:23Speaker 1: loved it.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It was so much fun, eh?
- 1:25Speaker 1: One of the most eye-opening trips of my life. You know, yes,
- 1:30Speaker 1: never been.
- 1:30Speaker 2: It's different.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It's confronting but humbling after it oh yeah humbling sorry
- 1:35Speaker 1: after it i i think i might have said it
- 1:38Speaker 1: to you kip it's one of the greatest trips i've
- 1:40Speaker 1: ever been on yeah like just understanding um great for
- 1:45Speaker 1: what what the game can mean oh they love you
- 1:47Speaker 1: to people but like.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It's a footy player yeah and.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Understanding that's all it is it's just pure pride happiness
- 1:53Speaker 1: and excitement about you know Something that you live and
- 1:57Speaker 1: breathe for. And it's right there. And I honestly loved it.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'm still devastated about, there was a piece that someone
- 2:05Speaker 1: handmade for me. It was a Bronco's head out of wood.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You remember it, eh? And you said it's one of
- 2:12Speaker 1: the coolest, unbelievable things you've ever seen. Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 2: What happened?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Because we got blind the night before. I forgot it
- 2:20Speaker 1: and I left it at the hotel and rang them
- 2:23Speaker 1: up and they said, no, no, we didn't see it
- 2:25Speaker 1: because it's so good. It was so, yeah, but unreal.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It was, yeah, it was a great trip.
- 2:31Speaker 2: P & G get to host a couple of games
- 2:33Speaker 2: up there as well.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Which is awesome.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Which is great, yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It'll be great. The crowd will be unreal.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But I'm excited. Australia take on New Zealand Thursday night
- 2:40Speaker 2: to kick off the Rugby League, or tonight, sorry. Tonight.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Kick off the Rugby League World Cup, so. It's going
- 2:46Speaker 2: to be a tough game for the Aussies as well.
- 2:48Speaker 3: It's interesting. So Australia is favourites, but by a short margin,
- 2:52Speaker 3: you reckon probably the shortest I've seen.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I think it's wrong. I don't think it should be
- 2:56Speaker 1: this far apart. I think if I'm, correct me if I'm,
- 2:59Speaker 1: I believe this is the best World Cup we've ever
- 3:02Speaker 1: seen on paper. And if you go by form of
- 3:05Speaker 1: the players in the year and the way it's built
- 3:08Speaker 1: up in the last few years with those international teams,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I can't pick a winner. I can't say the Australians
- 3:14Speaker 1: deserve to be that. that far ahead in the betting. Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You know, even for this game tonight, I think it
- 3:20Speaker 1: should be.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Would you want to go through?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Let's have a look.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It should be even. It should be even. This game
- 3:25Speaker 1: should be even. It's going to be incredible this game.
- 3:28Speaker 3: So fullback number one, Reece Walsh and Calum Ponga for
- 3:32Speaker 3: New Zealand.
- 3:32Speaker 2: How good.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So on form, it's probably Ponga, isn't it?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Actually, before we move on from that, so Reece, he
- 3:40Speaker 3: got the spot in front of James Tedesco, who this year,
- 3:44Speaker 3: you have to say, has had the better season, obviously.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Apart from Ponga, I think he's the best fullback in
- 3:52Speaker 1: the game this year.
- 3:53Speaker 2: It tends to happen.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Most influential fullback, too.
- 3:55Speaker 3: He was great in origin.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Apart from Ponga, you put him and Ponga, I reckon,
- 3:58Speaker 1: on par.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So do you feel like, if you're a big Teddy fan,
- 4:03Speaker 3: if you're a Roosters fan, I reckon you'd feel a
- 4:05Speaker 3: little bit ripped that he's not playing.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Oh, 100%. He would be feeling pretty ripped too, actually,
- 4:10Speaker 2: in all honesty. Because there's... He's definitely put himself in
- 4:16Speaker 2: a position to be the number one Australian fullback. He
- 4:21Speaker 2: just won a grand final. He was very, very influential...
- 4:25Speaker 2: this year.
- 4:26Speaker 1: For the Roosters.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Man of the match in the grand final.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah. He was also, you know, done a brilliant job
- 4:32Speaker 2: when he come to New South Wales as well. This series.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Remember Wayne used to say, the great players are always
- 4:39Speaker 1: good in a losing team. Tedesco this year, I can't
- 4:44Speaker 1: say he played a bad game. Like a game where
- 4:46Speaker 1: you go, geez, he didn't do much. Or he could
- 4:49Speaker 1: have done more. Like even in the games they lost
- 4:52Speaker 1: and played bad.
- 4:53Speaker 3: He was good.
- 4:54Speaker 1: He still was good. And he was still influential in
- 4:56Speaker 1: certain areas. And I, you know, Walsh's comments a week
- 5:01Speaker 1: ago about, you know, actually looking forward to being under
- 5:05Speaker 1: Teddy and understanding that he probably wouldn't get picked.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I think was unreal. I was actually excited to see
- 5:12Speaker 1: what Walsh would do with that.
- 5:13Speaker 2: And learn.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And learn.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I spoke about it, you know, we got another job,
- 5:18Speaker 1: keep an eye. Oh, do you? On radio this morning.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And I said that, for me, Walshie, you know, is
- 5:27Speaker 1: the most talented, skillful, you know, of players in our game.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 1: In my eyes, he truly is. But he hasn't nailed
- 5:34Speaker 1: the consistency and performing to his best every week. And
- 5:39Speaker 1: I feel like James Tedesco this year has shown that.
- 5:42Speaker 2: And over the years.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought Walsh could have been like, how do
- 5:46Speaker 1: I do that? How do I get to you? I
- 5:47Speaker 1: want to be that every week and I want to
- 5:51Speaker 1: consistently do it and I want to consistently be the best.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And I thought that it would have been just perfect
- 5:56Speaker 1: for him to be able to do that in this
- 5:58Speaker 1: world car.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the only thing, the only other factor
- 6:01Speaker 2: which we have to factor into this at the end
- 6:05Speaker 2: of the day is we don't know how Kevi wants
- 6:07Speaker 2: to play this game.
- 6:08Speaker 1: True.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Whether he wants to play an all-out attack, that's why
- 6:10Speaker 2: you would pick Reece Walsh. Yep. Or if you've got
- 6:14Speaker 2: more of a defensive mindset, you would then go for
- 6:18Speaker 2: a player like Teddy. So what I'm looking forward to
- 6:23Speaker 2: in this game is if that's the way we're going
- 6:24Speaker 2: to play, all-out attack, I want to see Walsh with
- 6:28Speaker 2: his hands on the ball all the time. I want
- 6:29Speaker 2: to see him getting busy.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Confident, not throwing silly passes, holding the ball when it's
- 6:33Speaker 1: not there. We've seen it a little bit this year,
- 6:36Speaker 1: but then you're seeing frustration creep back into him.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So yeah, I agree.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I think you want to see a controlled Walshie, but
- 6:44Speaker 1: a controlled Walshie is all out of tact. Yeah. Like,
- 6:47Speaker 1: it's just not throwing the glory play, understanding it'll come
- 6:51Speaker 1: when it comes.
- 6:52Speaker 3: They're both fullbacks, but they play different positions, hey? Like,
- 6:55Speaker 3: Walshie's sort of out, particularly in attack, Walshie's more out wide,
- 6:59Speaker 3: and Teddy tends to run up the guts. Is that right?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Teddy, he hangs around the middles a lot, but
- 7:06Speaker 1: that's the Roosters game.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Their forward packs go forward.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Always has been. Always forward packs.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It has been.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And that's a game that Kevi doesn't necessarily know, that
- 7:15Speaker 3: style of play, or why.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Do you think? It's hard to say because when you've
- 7:20Speaker 1: got a team, like if I go, for instance, when
- 7:24Speaker 1: we had Milf, Darbs, and Hunty, depending on where the
- 7:30Speaker 1: ball was, we had enough blokes to support. Manth and
- 7:34Speaker 1: Milford was a great team. support runner. Like, if someone
- 7:37Speaker 1: made a break, he was there.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And vice versa. If he was on the other side,
- 7:40Speaker 1: Darbs was there.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Hunty was there. Cody Nicarima was there.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Andrew McCulloch.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Andrew McCulloch was there for a little bit until he,
- 7:47Speaker 1: until everyone got found in second gear and he was,
- 7:49Speaker 1: he was too slow. But, yeah, like, I think.
- 7:54Speaker 2: On the treadmill. On the treadmill. He had the short legs.
- 7:56Speaker 2: He does.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Even though he ran down it in Joe Wallace and
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't think, He'll let Jared Wallace ever live that down.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Run down Jared Wallace.
- 8:04Speaker 1: No, it's not hard.
- 8:05Speaker 2: No.
- 8:06Speaker 1: But I think, yeah, it's that team they have now.
- 8:09Speaker 1: They've got those roaming dudes. So Walsh, he could probably
- 8:12Speaker 1: be on ball a lot, like, you know, on the swing.
- 8:16Speaker 1: A lot more out the back of shape.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 1: And then you've got, I mean, Trebojevich. Yeah, yeah. You've
- 8:21Speaker 1: got Latrell Mitchell. So many guys that can be there
- 8:25Speaker 1: to support him.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Is it as simple as just that he knows, that
- 8:28Speaker 3: Kevi knows Walshie, and so he knows how he's going
- 8:31Speaker 3: to play, and he doesn't really know Tedesco's game?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Oh, it helps if you've got that relationship to start
- 8:37Speaker 2: off with, yeah. 100%. So, yeah, Kevi can sit him
- 8:43Speaker 2: down and go, mate, this is how we want to play.
- 8:46Speaker 2: This is what I need you to do. So, yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 2: hopefully that conversation's already been had because... Yeah, it's game
- 8:52Speaker 2: time tonight.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of like we spoke about it. You know,
- 8:57Speaker 1: it's game. You know, how you want to play the game,
- 9:01Speaker 1: your game plan, and knowing what Walshie brings. But also,
- 9:05Speaker 1: we never know. Like, is Sadesco got a little niggle
- 9:08Speaker 1: that he's like, look, I'm not 100%, I'm 95%. And
- 9:10Speaker 1: KV's be like, you know, well, I want a 100% team.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'll give you another week. We have no idea because
- 9:19Speaker 1: not all that stuff comes out in a World Cup.
- 9:21Speaker 2: It's a tough game to start off your World Cup
- 9:24Speaker 2: campaign at the end of the day. New Zealand are
- 9:26Speaker 2: a great, great team. They've got a lot of form players.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I think you've got players in there like Dane Gagai
- 9:33Speaker 2: who went through to the grand final. Callum Ponga through
- 9:35Speaker 2: to the grand final. The Warriors went deep into the finals.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Their bench has got enough... The Roosters are starting pro.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a few forwards that played in the grand
- 9:47Speaker 2: final as well. So, yeah, they've got some form teams. So,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you know, it could be a case of we want
- 9:53Speaker 2: to be peaking in the come finals time. Or do
- 9:56Speaker 2: you want to peak now in the first game?
- 9:58Speaker 1: If they hold the ball... tight, like, you know, control
- 10:02Speaker 1: the game, it could be nil-all.
- 10:04Speaker 2: But I think that's why Moses has been picked in
- 10:06Speaker 2: the halves because he's got such a great kicking game. So,
- 10:08Speaker 2: you know, if the Kiwis front load their energy and
- 10:13Speaker 2: really get stuck into the forwards of the Aussie boys,
- 10:17Speaker 2: there's still that great opportunity. I think Moses was.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Looked over as one of the better players within the
- 10:24Speaker 2: New South Wales team this year.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I think he's been great in the last few years.
- 10:28Speaker 2: He kicked them out of trouble so many times. And
- 10:33Speaker 2: I think, yeah, that's such a great big asset. A
- 10:37Speaker 2: lot of people moving down the team list, talking about
- 10:40Speaker 2: Sammy Walker not being in the team. I think what
- 10:43Speaker 2: Sammy Walker brings is absolutely fantastic, but very, very different
- 10:47Speaker 2: to what... Mitchell Moses brings. Also, I think that Mitch
- 10:51Speaker 2: Moses compliments Munster in the sense that Munster doesn't have
- 10:57Speaker 2: the long, long kicking game anymore. He can do some
- 10:59Speaker 2: nice little attacking dinks.
- 11:01Speaker 1: He can do some awful dinks too.
- 11:02Speaker 2: He can do some more. I've seen some more. There's
- 11:04Speaker 2: been some dink shanks in there. But, yeah, the more
- 11:10Speaker 2: I kind of sit back and have a look at
- 11:12Speaker 2: the team a little bit more, try to break it down,
- 11:14Speaker 2: I still would have liked to have seen maybe– uh,
- 11:17Speaker 2: a winger, winger in there.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yes. You've got Jack Bostock who's playing on the wing.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Should we go through the other matchups? So Bostock on
- 11:24Speaker 3: the wing for Australia taking on, and Asako. So you've
- 11:27Speaker 3: got the Dolphins wingers.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's a center and a winger.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yeah. But he did play a fair bit of wing.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But he's played the whole season this year.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think that's who I'd be going at.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Like you can find him out.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Um, Latrell Gagai, that's the other matchup there. So Gagai
- 11:46Speaker 3: playing for New Zealand.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 1: It's a good matchup.
- 11:49Speaker 3: That's a good matchup.
- 11:50Speaker 1: We've seen it. We saw it in the first round
- 11:52Speaker 1: of the semis, yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Staggs for Australia.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Great matchup.
- 11:56Speaker 3: McLean, Casey McLean.
- 11:57Speaker 1: It's a great matchup. I think they've been, yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm actually surprised because Casey's been carrying a hand
- 12:04Speaker 2: injury throughout.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It's not a hand, is it?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Yeah, the end of the season. And, like, he's had
- 12:08Speaker 2: it pretty heavily strapped. I don't know.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Just needle it?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 2: See what happens. Yeah, exactly.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Just numb it up.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Just numb it up. Just numb the pain.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and speaking of non-wingers, you've got Travojevic for Australia
- 12:22Speaker 3: in the number five and Moolatalo.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, which I think what will happen there, I believe
- 12:26Speaker 2: that he'll play more of a roaming winger. So he
- 12:29Speaker 2: might play out the back of a bit of shape.
- 12:31Speaker 1: It's defensively for me.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Like, it's a decision, you know, a split decision. Whether
- 12:39Speaker 1: they have a, you know, a certain uh movement where
- 12:44Speaker 1: they don't have it like it stays the same yeah
- 12:47Speaker 1: no matter what you don't make decisions we're up and
- 12:50Speaker 1: out like.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Whether they're up or out or we're up and in yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And it's that all changes when if things go different
- 12:56Speaker 1: uh if things go wrong it gets if the ball's
- 12:59Speaker 1: in play for a long time tired like that's my
- 13:01Speaker 1: part where i'm like you need swingers like so i
- 13:04Speaker 1: do agree like i'm a bit worried about yeah really.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Good though defensive um diffusers on the wing they're unreal
- 13:11Speaker 2: they're great so you've got Jack Bostock on one side
- 13:13Speaker 2: and Turbo on the other you've got Ronaldo Molotalo who's
- 13:16Speaker 2: brilliant in the air Jermaine not so much from the
- 13:19Speaker 2: you know cross field side of things but he's a.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Great try scorer he can still get involved he can
- 13:23Speaker 1: still get his body in.
- 13:24Speaker 2: The way but those two tall guys on the wing
- 13:26Speaker 2: you know are bomb diffusers.
- 13:28Speaker 3: At the end of the day how do you feel
- 13:30Speaker 3: as a winger Corey though that they picked Nong Wing
- 13:32Speaker 3: do you feel like is it like saying anyone can.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Do it yeah pretty much pretty much yeah Anyone can
- 13:39Speaker 2: play wing. You just gotta hang out there.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Just, yeah. Anyone can play back row too. Just gotta
- 13:45Speaker 1: make it.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Gotta what? You couldn't make it in the back row.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I played, mate. I played.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Don't even start.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Did you have a starting number on your back row?
- 13:52Speaker 1: I did, actually. Yes. Mate, I scored two tries against
- 13:55Speaker 1: Tigers in my second season.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah, off the bench.
- 13:58Speaker 1: No, I started hole 80. Even 30 minutes in, I
- 14:01Speaker 1: was looking at Wayne going, sometimes. I scored and just
- 14:04Speaker 1: take me off. Damn. We won that game.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I scored two tries.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's hard. Suck it.
- 14:09Speaker 2: It's hard, see?
- 14:10Speaker 1: You played wing?
- 14:11Speaker 2: I played 30 minutes. I'm looking to get off.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I played 80, mate. I tried to go off. Don't worry.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Exactly, see?
- 14:16Speaker 1: You didn't play a wing.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Jerome Hughes is halfback for the Kiwis. He's had a
- 14:23Speaker 3: pretty quiet year with the Storm. I mean, he's been injured.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I still think he's been good, though.
- 14:27Speaker 2: No, he has been great, yeah. The Storm have just
- 14:29Speaker 2: been feeling their way through the whole season.
- 14:31Speaker 1: It's been a tough season for them. Yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It's so many years.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But I look at the Australian team and I'm going
- 14:37Speaker 1: to say that the Australian team has had way more
- 14:40Speaker 1: injuries this year than the New Zealand team.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Like a lot of.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Players in the Australian team have been out for long stints.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:47Speaker 1: There's been a lot of players out for a long time.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Yeah, Jerome's one of them for Kiwis.
- 14:51Speaker 1: But the Kiwis, there's not many.
- 14:54Speaker 2: If any. I don't know anybody. I like what you
- 14:57Speaker 2: did there. A bit of scribe.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Very good.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Check, check.
- 15:01Speaker 3: And Cam Munster, so the other Melbourne half, Cam Munster
- 15:05Speaker 3: for Australia and Cody Nicarima, who's had a great year.
- 15:08Speaker 1: And that's what I'm saying. Yeah. Codes has had one
- 15:10Speaker 1: probably the season of his career.
- 15:12Speaker 3: On form, you'd pick Cody this year.
- 15:15Speaker 2: What about his last kind of, I'm just thinking, like
- 15:17Speaker 2: his last... Four seasons have been absolutely brilliant. He was
- 15:22Speaker 2: on the scrap heap at one stage.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He was a big fella.
- 15:24Speaker 2: He jumped on the dolphins and then that combination he
- 15:28Speaker 2: had with Izzy Cattell was brilliant. Now he's signed a
- 15:31Speaker 2: really lucrative deal with the Dragons. Cash. Good on him.
- 15:35Speaker 1: He's finished off on a high with some cash. That's
- 15:38Speaker 1: what you need to do. He's had a great year.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Long career.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I hope that success follows him into this Kiwis team
- 15:46Speaker 2: as well. So he'll be great. Jerome will run things,
- 15:49Speaker 2: and he'll play that same type of role, which he
- 15:51Speaker 2: does with Izzy Cattell.
- 15:53Speaker 3: All right, let's have a look at the pack. So
- 15:54Speaker 3: Paddy Carrigan for Australia, Fisher Harris for New Zealand. Fisher
- 15:59Speaker 3: Harris had a great year.
- 16:00Speaker 2: The Nines is a good little match-up, actually.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't argue there.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Harry Grant and Jeremy Marshall King.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 3: That's cool. Another Dolphin, too. The Dolphins are well-represented.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Aren't they?
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: They've had a good season.
- 16:12Speaker 2: They've had a great year.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Then Big Tino for Australia and Moses Liotta.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yep, great matchup.
- 16:20Speaker 3: That's pretty even money for how they're both going.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Jacob Preston.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Preston and Papa Lee for Ozawa Papa Lee.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Onyaponga and Liotta are going to go.
- 16:32Speaker 2: That would have been great going into camp.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you reckon Ponga's got one over him?
- 16:36Speaker 2: 100%.
- 16:37Speaker 3: That was the hit from Ponga on Liotta, wasn't it?
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Hopefully Liotta, I reckon.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I think Liotta would respect it because it was a
- 16:43Speaker 1: good hit.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Day one of camp, like at least.
- 16:46Speaker 1: It would have been a good laugh. Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Carried his bag up to his room and that's it.
- 16:50Speaker 1: 100%. Or it would have been in defense. Everyone would
- 16:53Speaker 1: have been like, you two, you're going, let's go. And
- 16:55Speaker 1: probably Liotta would have got one over him.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Ponga's strong. I'll give him that.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I couldn't believe.
- 17:00Speaker 1: You know why?
- 17:01Speaker 2: Because there's a bit of ginger in his hair.
- 17:04Speaker 1: He does have a little bit of ginger.
- 17:05Speaker 2: He does.
- 17:07Speaker 3: And number 12, Liam Martin and Nick Ara.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 1: That's a solid match-up. I like them. They're great back rowers. Competitive.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Long minutes is important too. And they all run great lines.
- 17:20Speaker 1: That is the exciting part. They all run a hard,
- 17:24Speaker 1: tight line as a back rower. And I think... We
- 17:28Speaker 1: need more of it. It's so good.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And the Lox Tarponay for New Zealand and Yo.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great matchup. This game is even. How
- 17:37Speaker 1: the bookies have got this so far away apart is
- 17:39Speaker 1: just amazing.
- 17:41Speaker 2: What about Nafahu White?
- 17:44Speaker 1: I know, that's what I mean.
- 17:44Speaker 2: He was the best front rower this season, I believe.
- 17:47Speaker 2: He's on the bench. Yeah, he can't even make the
- 17:49Speaker 2: starting team. And it just shows you how good their
- 17:53Speaker 2: team is.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Well, the World Cup is, to be honest. It's so exciting.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I actually can't wait.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah. I actually went up to Nafahu after the grand
- 18:01Speaker 2: final and said, mate, you had a cracking year. You're
- 18:03Speaker 2: one of my favourite front rowers.
- 18:04Speaker 1: He was. I loved him.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Even last year. And just to see his development too
- 18:08Speaker 2: because there was a stage there where he was struggling
- 18:11Speaker 2: to even get a start. He was coming off the bench.
- 18:13Speaker 2: He was playing, you know, like 30 minutes.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Am I right in saying back in the last year
- 18:18Speaker 1: he started and then I don't think he lost his spot?
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yeah. And I kept saying, this guy.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Where's he come from?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Where's this guy come from?
- 18:27Speaker 2: Jamaica. I'm serious, though.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Like, the power, the skill, you know, the fitness. Like,
- 18:36Speaker 1: he's a weapon.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. And one of the only Broncos to make
- 18:42Speaker 3: it is Willison, who's playing on the bench. Again, like,
- 18:44Speaker 3: our best.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Player of the year. Yeah. And I think he's up
- 18:48Speaker 1: there with one of the best front rowers all year. Yeah. Yeah, north-south, bro.
- 18:51Speaker 1: North-south all day. But the teams, to me, I just
- 18:55Speaker 1: think they're so even.
- 18:58Speaker 2: It's going to be a cracking game anyway. Great game
- 18:59Speaker 2: to start. Really looking forward to it. And a great
- 19:01Speaker 2: way to kick off the Rugby League World Cup.
- 19:03Speaker 3: If you were going to have a punt, what do
- 19:05Speaker 3: you think? Big score and.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Who's going to win?
- 19:09Speaker 2: Nah. I don't know if it'll be a big score.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I'm really unsure.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I can't pick a winner.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't pick a winner. I would pick some
- 19:17Speaker 2: try scorers maybe.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Should we make a multi?
- 19:20Speaker 2: For the game.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Shall we make a multi for the.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah, why not?
- 19:23Speaker 3: All right, so any time try a score a multi.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yep. A quarter.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 19:29Speaker 2: You're down Britain. I like that.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Okay. I think Jacob Preston on debut for Australia. He's
- 19:37Speaker 3: a try scorer. I think he's in good form. I
- 19:40Speaker 3: like Jacob.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 1: This is gonna be backrollers and backrollers we could always
- 19:45Speaker 1: be picking the only three and actually you.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Know where he um what he does really well actually
- 19:49Speaker 2: he scores a lot of tries off um short grubbers
- 19:52Speaker 2: and mitch moses is and monsters they're both brewing in
- 19:56Speaker 2: at that yeah so it's that it's that up and
- 19:59Speaker 2: in defense in your face defense yep and then it's
- 20:02Speaker 2: a kick in in behind so It's, you know, try
- 20:06Speaker 2: to get Cal and Ponga to go on the blind side.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's actually, yeah, it's a game where I don't
- 20:12Speaker 1: think I've seen it like this for so long where,
- 20:14Speaker 1: where is it going to come from? Yeah. Like, yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I'm going to go with the traditional try score in Bostock. Bostock? Yeah.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So what side has he played? Right?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Well, he has been playing on the right side, yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 2: because Herbie was playing left centre all year. So, yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 2: he's been playing right.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So that's up against Ronaldo, right?
- 20:35Speaker 2: Ronaldo is a.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Left. He's a left.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Is he?
- 20:39Speaker 1: I think he's a left.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:42Speaker 3: So Bostock v. Ronaldo?
- 20:43Speaker 1: Is that what you're thinking? I'm thinking.
- 20:45Speaker 3: That should be good in the air. That'll be interesting.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Bostock will play.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. No idea. I haven't watched him train or anything.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Me neither. I forgot it was coming up.
- 20:56Speaker 3: That, by the way, those three, Preston, Nakora and Bostock
- 21:00Speaker 3: is paying $ 35.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yeah, nice.
- 21:02Speaker 3: That's a nice little multi there.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And who are you going? And Bostock.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 21:07Speaker 1: All right.
- 21:07Speaker 3: We'll gamble responsibly and enjoy that. Six bucks gets you 200.
- 21:10Speaker 3: So just think about that.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Gamble responsibly though.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yeah, of course. Responsibly, yes. And tomorrow we'll run through
- 21:17Speaker 3: all the other teams that are playing across the next
- 21:20Speaker 3: few days because World Cup is here.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Rugby League. On Channel 7. What? What?
