- 1:46Speaker 2: And the great thing is it's not alcoholic, and I
- 1:49Speaker 2: mean the sugar is in it, but you know what, Hey,
- 1:51Speaker 2: it's apple juice. I feel like a kid again. Why

- 4:24Speaker 2: now it is time for your morning mindset.
- 4:27Speaker 4: This is where we pause and share a quote for
- 4:30Speaker 4: you to think about as you take on the rest
- 4:32Speaker 4: of your day.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Now, if you've listened to this show for any amount
- 4:34Speaker 2: of time, you know that Mel Robbins needs no introduction
- 4:37Speaker 2: around these parts, from her books to the things she says,
- 4:41Speaker 2: she resonates, and here's something to think about today. No
- 4:44Speaker 2: one's coming to your rescue. No one's coming to rescue
- 4:48Speaker 2: your dream. That's your job, Mel Robins. No one's coming
- 4:53Speaker 2: to rescue your dream. That's your job. If it's your dream, right,
- 5:00Speaker 2: go after it with abandon. You don't need to count
- 5:03Speaker 2: on anybody else to make that dream happy or to
- 5:06Speaker 2: save your dream. You know you have it within you.
- 5:09Speaker 2: It's your job to make that dream become whatever it
- 5:12Speaker 2: will be. Keep that in mind as you take on today.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Mel Robbins with your morning mindset today. If you've got
- 5:19Speaker 2: something you want to share with us, or if you
- 5:21Speaker 2: want to see that again, Toby and CHILLIPAGEASHFM dot com.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Find us on Instagram, Facebook, it's probably floating around there,
- 5:28Speaker 2: somewhere in the world of the algorithms, and stay right
- 5:30Speaker 2: there because coming up in minutes with Toby and Chilly
- 5:32Speaker 2: in the Morning.
- 5:33Speaker 4: You said that you finally realize why you are so
- 5:35Speaker 4: drawn to electronic dance music.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yep, I did a deep dive on it, which means
- 5:39Speaker 2: I started googling and watching YouTube videos and you know
- 5:43Speaker 2: what I found. There's a reason why you'll find out
- 5:47Speaker 2: what it is coming up in minutes ADHD and electronic
- 5:52Speaker 2: dance music. I think I've cracked on out as to
- 5:54Speaker 2: why I've been strangely fascinated by electronic dance music for
- 5:59Speaker 2: most of my adult life. Toby and Chilly in the Morning,
- 6:02Speaker 2: it's ninety seven point one watch FM, Chilly, Can I
- 6:04Speaker 2: tell you what I found out? Yeah, I did a
- 6:07Speaker 2: deep dive on electronic dance music. And for people who
- 6:11Speaker 2: don't know what electronic dance music is, it's that dance
- 6:15Speaker 2: stuff you hear in the club late at night. Jonahan's
- 6:19Speaker 2: vibing to some EDM and the meme that's floating around
- 6:22Speaker 2: the Internet of things. Sure, and for people with an
- 6:25Speaker 2: ADHD mind, according to research, it provides a cognitive scaffolding
- 6:30Speaker 2: of sorts helps to regulate focus and it calms mental
- 6:34Speaker 2: noise through what they call rhythmic entrainment.
- 6:38Speaker 4: So you listen to that kind of music when you're
- 6:41Speaker 4: trying to chill and focus.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah, when I'm driving, when I'm thinking of when I'm
- 6:47Speaker 2: coming up with new ideas, and apparently that's what EDM does.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It helps the ADHD mind. And I never realized that
- 6:55Speaker 2: before until I started, you know, googling and chat, gpting
- 6:59Speaker 2: and then learning. So, for instance, when I listen to
- 7:02Speaker 2: something like this, it calms me. It actually puts me
- 7:10Speaker 2: in a different state of mind where I'm kind of
- 7:13Speaker 2: at peace. I'm focused, I'm stimulated and creative. It's interesting,
- 7:17Speaker 2: what do you hear when you hear something like that?
- 7:20Speaker 4: My sense is being assaulted. It's like it's very jarring
- 7:24Speaker 4: for me. There's nothing relaxing when I hear that song.
- 7:27Speaker 4: I think it's more like a defibrillator from my brain,
- 7:29Speaker 4: Like it just kind of whoa, wake up?
- 7:31Speaker 3: Hello?
- 7:31Speaker 4: How you doing it?
- 7:32Speaker 2: So when you hear like We're load the Chainsmokers or
- 7:35Speaker 2: z or Calvin Harris or any of those, is it
- 7:37Speaker 2: a song by song thing or is it about the
- 7:39Speaker 2: bpm because I will admit that that is a high
- 7:43Speaker 2: tempo song.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the tempo matters. If there's lyrics to
- 7:46Speaker 4: it and can sing along to it, that's a different experience.
- 7:48Speaker 4: But like if we're just listening to that and the
- 7:50Speaker 4: beats per minut it, it's a bit overwhelming for me. Yes,
- 7:54Speaker 4: I wouldn't listen to it to relax. I would listen
- 7:56Speaker 4: to it to get very pumped up.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what happens when I hear like a really
- 8:03Speaker 2: good song that speaks to me someway.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Maybe it's my brain. I don't know.
- 8:07Speaker 2: If you're a psychologist, a doctor, a PhD type that
- 8:10Speaker 2: can explain some of this, feel free to call us
- 8:13Speaker 2: at eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty.

- 9:32Speaker 4: the leg after he reportedly attacked a federal officer. The
- 9:37Speaker 4: FBI has searched the home of Washington Post reporter Hannah
- 9:40Speaker 4: Natanson as part of an investigation involving classified information. Although
- 9:45Speaker 4: she is not a target, agents sees electronic devices during

- 10:41Speaker 4: for today, very cold, partly cloudy, Wendy. Hi's only around
- 10:45Speaker 4: thirty right now, thirty two in Manassas.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Thank you for the news, ma'am.
- 10:49Speaker 2: With Tobya Chilly in the morning, you get top stories,
- 10:52Speaker 2: just the headlines you really need to know at the
- 10:55Speaker 2: top of the hour, because in this town the most
- 10:58Speaker 2: important knowledge is power. It's ninety seven point one wash
- 11:01Speaker 2: CHEFM with Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Barbie is
- 11:05Speaker 2: now reaching out to a part of our community in
- 11:09Speaker 2: a very cool way. We'll tell you what Mattel, the
- 11:13Speaker 2: makers of Barbie, have launched, and why this is a
- 11:16Speaker 2: good thing. And remember you always have a voice at
- 11:19Speaker 2: this table, so feel free to call eight sixty six
- 11:22Speaker 2: nine two seven forty three sixty one to add your
- 11:24Speaker 2: voice to the chorus when you hear this news. Next
- 11:28Speaker 2: you got Toby and Chilli in the morning, it's ninety
- 11:30Speaker 2: seven point one was CHEFM. You ever play with Baris
- 11:33Speaker 2: when you were younger? Well if so, or if you're
- 11:36Speaker 2: just a fan from the movie to the toys themselves,
- 11:39Speaker 2: this is very very cool. Mattel has launched its first
- 11:43Speaker 2: autistic Barbie doll Chilling.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Yes they have. It's part of their I guess trying
- 11:48Speaker 4: to reflect the diversity of kids experiences and what makes
- 11:51Speaker 4: this doll autistic. It has some features like the doll
- 11:56Speaker 4: kind of has a slightly side gaze because some are
- 12:00Speaker 4: autistic kids have issues with eye contact. It also is
- 12:04Speaker 4: wearing noise canceling headphones, it's holding a fidget spinner, and
- 12:08Speaker 4: it's got a communication tablet in its hand to mirror
- 12:12Speaker 4: some of the tools that are used by autistic people.
- 12:14Speaker 2: This is very, very cool. Mattel says that the reason
- 12:17Speaker 2: why they want to do this is to kind of
- 12:19Speaker 2: normalize the conversation and to help kids who are on
- 12:22Speaker 2: the spectrum be okay with themselves and who they are.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And this is not the first time they've done this.
- 12:28Speaker 2: They've got to type one diabetic Barbie, They've got a
- 12:32Speaker 2: Barbie with downs, and they've got barbies with hearing aids.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Chilli.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I got to tell you, I think it's great what
- 12:39Speaker 2: they're doing, because normalizing a conversation, I think does nothing
- 12:45Speaker 2: but empower people to realize that they can, will, and
- 12:49Speaker 2: should be everything that they can be.
- 12:52Speaker 4: I think it's a good start. I mean, I'm the
- 12:54Speaker 4: parent of an autistic child, and I think it's great
- 12:57Speaker 4: that there is inclusion. However, I can also see why
- 13:01Speaker 4: some parents or autistic people are not a fan because
- 13:04Speaker 4: they're like, well, that's just so stereotypical. You can't just
- 13:08Speaker 4: have a headphone or a fidget and say, oh, that's
- 13:11Speaker 4: what it represents. So it's hard to please everybody. But
- 13:15Speaker 4: it's a great start to have a conversation about understanding
- 13:20Speaker 4: and inclusion.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And if you'd like to read more about it, see
- 13:23Speaker 2: what the doll looks like. You might have seen it
- 13:25Speaker 2: on the Internet of Things. This week, we've got everything
- 13:27Speaker 2: you need the Toby and Chili page washfm dot com
- 13:31Speaker 2: and stay with us because coming up in just minutes.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Do you know that we lose over three hundred hours
- 13:37Speaker 4: of sleep doing this particular thing that I bet you
- 13:40Speaker 4: and I are both guilty of.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Find out what it is that's robbing us of our slumber.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Next, let's talk about sleep and bedtime. We're Toby and
- 13:51Speaker 2: Chilly in the morning here at ninety seven point one
- 13:54Speaker 2: wash FM, where we found a new study that says
- 13:56Speaker 2: that bedtime procrastination is stealing hours of sleep from us.
- 14:02Speaker 2: See most of us, we're losing hundreds of hours of
- 14:05Speaker 2: sleep to this bedtime revringe procrastination.
- 14:09Speaker 4: I mean, this is definitely a thing. We're doing this
- 14:12Speaker 4: at least three times a week where we're staying up
- 14:15Speaker 4: like two hours later than we know we should because
- 14:18Speaker 4: we are so desperate to at least have some personal time.
- 14:23Speaker 4: And what you do with that really depends on the person.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Some people want to do something about their hobby. They
- 14:28Speaker 4: just want to be alone or they do the scrolling thing.
- 14:31Speaker 2: And it's extremely widespread. Ninety six percent of us have
- 14:36Speaker 2: intentionally stayed up late for that personal time, no matter
- 14:40Speaker 2: what it is that you're doing, and the result of
- 14:42Speaker 2: it is well over three.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Hundred hours of lost sleep every year.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah, poor sleep. People are irritable, they're stressed, their diet's worse,
- 14:51Speaker 2: no exercise.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Are are you guilty of this?
- 14:54Speaker 3: I am absolutely? In fact, last night, you know what
- 14:57Speaker 3: was what was you?
- 14:58Speaker 4: What were you doing for this revenge personal time?
- 15:01Speaker 3: YouTube? Rabbit holes? You know how I am?
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yes, yes, input I'm Johnny five from that movie back
- 15:07Speaker 2: in the day.
- 15:07Speaker 3: No, no, it is I know that.
- 15:09Speaker 2: In twenty twenty six though, from the survey that seventy
- 15:12Speaker 2: three percent of people say that they want to improve
- 15:15Speaker 2: their sleep sure.
- 15:16Speaker 3: By going to bed earlier.
- 15:17Speaker 2: And I've been actually trying to do that, and I've
- 15:20Speaker 2: been trying to make a conscious effort. But even so
- 15:22Speaker 2: with technology, chili, and I don't know how it is
- 15:25Speaker 2: for you, but I'll bring my tablet to bed and
- 15:28Speaker 2: that's just like having the TV in bet.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not good. I think a lot of us
- 15:32Speaker 4: do this because we feel like we're pulled in so
- 15:34Speaker 4: many different directions during the day that were really frustrated
- 15:37Speaker 4: that we had absolutely zero time to do what we
- 15:40Speaker 4: want to do. That's right, and that's why we're like,
- 15:42Speaker 4: gosh darted, I am not going to fall asleep. This
- 15:44Speaker 4: day is not going to end until I have some
- 15:47Speaker 4: me time.
- 15:47Speaker 2: So the moral of this story would be get some sleep,
- 15:52Speaker 2: go to bed, turn out the lights, get something to
- 15:55Speaker 2: wear on your face, like one of those Manta masks
- 15:57Speaker 2: that I gave Chili at one time, black everything, and
- 16:00Speaker 2: rest your body. Well, thank you for it, and then
- 16:03Speaker 2: you'll have more time for doing all of that fun stuff,
- 16:06Speaker 2: you know during the daylight hours.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you can read more about this, by the way,
- 16:09Speaker 4: if you want to. It's on the Toby and Chili
- 16:11Speaker 4: page at washfm dot com.
- 16:12Speaker 3: What don't we have coming up next? Chili?
- 16:13Speaker 4: You are the news headlines with Toby and Chili's top stories.
- 16:16Speaker 6: Hang out with us this morning ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington,

- 16:35Speaker 4: on that story and more on the way with Toby
- 16:37Speaker 4: and Chili in the morning on ninety seven point one
- 16:40Speaker 4: wash FM.
- 16:43Speaker 5: Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 16:45Speaker 4: More than a million and a half Horizon customers lost

- 16:53Speaker 4: They said there is no sign of a cyber attack
