- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray Murry, you there.
- 0:09Speaker 2: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 3: It was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Wow that Prime Time maybe had a crush on Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game. You're listening to to goatsen Company. The Great
- 0:32Speaker 2: Frank guy sol is with us.
- 0:34Speaker 1: It looks like he's in the Sirius XM studios, not
- 0:38Speaker 1: he's in his apartment. Thinking about Frank last night. I
- 0:44Speaker 1: actually was Frank, believe it or not. Why, Well, because
- 0:47Speaker 1: you love your summers. You love your New York summers.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You love going out to the Hamptons and the Knicks
- 0:53Speaker 1: going this far. They've never gone this deep into the summer,
- 0:55Speaker 1: and you combine that with a World Cup, and it's
- 0:58Speaker 1: really hampered your summer in terms of the things that
- 1:01Speaker 1: you love to do, which is hang out by the beach.
- 1:04Speaker 4: You know, well, in ninety nine, remember that was the lockout,
- 1:07Speaker 4: So that year they went into late June, they got
- 1:10Speaker 4: eliminated in five games, so that almost lapsed into July
- 1:14Speaker 4: fourth weekend. And this happens all the you know, all
- 1:16Speaker 4: the time at the World Cup and then even the
- 1:18Speaker 4: Euro which you forgot about that one, which I like.
- 1:21Speaker 4: But what happens is I sit inside. I watched TV
- 1:23Speaker 4: basically for a month, and then when the final is over,
- 1:27Speaker 4: I look back and I said, wow, I wasted a
- 1:29Speaker 4: month of the summer by just basically watching too much TV.
- 1:32Speaker 4: So that's been going on a lot. So I'm trying
- 1:34Speaker 4: to limit my TV time.
- 1:36Speaker 2: All right. What do we do with Taylor? Here?
- 1:39Speaker 1: A couple of weeks after the Knicks change his life
- 1:41Speaker 1: by winning an NBA title, he's hurdy met with him
- 1:44Speaker 1: for how they handled the NBA draft. Go ahead, Taylor,
- 1:47Speaker 1: what's the matter with you?
- 1:48Speaker 5: Frankie had a big board for those late round picks.
- 1:52Speaker 2: A Knicks big board.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so frank I had a big board. I'm
- 1:56Speaker 3: stand up for the draft. The draft has never been longer.
- 1:59Speaker 3: First off, that's another aside. I'm staying up for the
- 2:03Speaker 3: knixt draft pick.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I'm waiting.
- 2:04Speaker 6: I'm waiting.
- 2:05Speaker 3: They trade back, they trade back, they trade back.
- 2:07Speaker 6: They trade back three.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Times, they don't even make a pick in the first round.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Now they're the first pick in the second round at
- 2:13Speaker 3: thirty one. It doesn't even seem like they're gonna keep
- 2:16Speaker 3: that pick. It sounds like they're gonna just trade that pick.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I just want somebody. I wanted Terroris Reid. I wanted
- 2:22Speaker 3: Edge of four. I wanted you know, a Buco Cory.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I wanted somebody just to feel a little bit better
- 2:27Speaker 3: about this next team.
- 2:30Speaker 4: In the to what they should have done, they should
- 2:33Speaker 4: have put you on the set. So this way, they
- 2:34Speaker 4: could have been seven.
- 2:35Speaker 6: People discussing the NBA draft and you you would have
- 2:38Speaker 6: been perfect for the Knicks.
- 2:40Speaker 4: See, this is the problem with the nick Mans. You
- 2:41Speaker 4: got what you wanted, the championship. The owner already told
- 2:44Speaker 4: you before the parade. You didn't think he was going
- 2:46Speaker 4: to rain on his own parade.
- 2:47Speaker 6: He did that.
- 2:48Speaker 4: He told you we're not going into the second apron.
- 2:50Speaker 4: So right now they're just trying to save money. So
- 2:53Speaker 4: that's why they didn't take these players'd a it's hard
- 2:56Speaker 4: to repeat. Look, it's been eight straight champions and now
- 2:59Speaker 4: I think for them, it's just about trying to cut
- 3:03Speaker 4: some of the costs just a little bit, that'll be
- 3:04Speaker 4: the next big thing. The owner told you he was
- 3:06Speaker 4: going to do that, and he followed through on his promise.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Hey, Frank, did you think that in like nineteen ninety four,
- 3:14Speaker 5: that you'd still be talking about pat Riley in twenty
- 3:17Speaker 5: twenty six and the Mosy's making and how he's impacting
- 3:21Speaker 5: the Heap Knicks rivalry, Like it's crazy how long this
- 3:24Speaker 5: dude has been at it and how long he's been
- 3:26Speaker 5: affecting the league every year.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Well, look at it this way, right, if they had
- 3:31Speaker 4: done the right thing and just given pat Riley the
- 3:34Speaker 4: keys to the franchise like he wanted and like Miami did,
- 3:38Speaker 4: I don't think the Knicks winning this year would have
- 3:40Speaker 4: been their first right championship in fifty three years. I
- 3:43Speaker 4: think pat Riley would have gotten it done over that time.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So they finally it's almost as if they finally recovered
- 3:50Speaker 4: from letting pat Riley walk out the door in nineteen
- 3:52Speaker 4: ninety five. But it is it is interesting that it
- 3:55Speaker 4: must have driven him nuts, the idea that he was
- 3:57Speaker 4: this close to ending the Knicks championship. They went down
- 4:00Speaker 4: to Houston in ninety four, all they had to do
- 4:03Speaker 4: is when either six or seven they get the trophy,
- 4:05Speaker 4: it doesn't happen.
- 4:06Speaker 6: And here you are.
- 4:07Speaker 4: You know, it's less than two weeks after the Knicks win,
- 4:09Speaker 4: and pat Riley says, all right, I gotta do something
- 4:11Speaker 4: about this. I cannot allow the Knicks to keep going
- 4:14Speaker 4: in this direction.
- 4:15Speaker 6: Who's the next big whale out there? Giannis?
- 4:17Speaker 4: Bring the Greek freaking We got great Greek restaurants down
- 4:20Speaker 4: here in Florida. Come on down, let's even get this done.
- 4:23Speaker 5: What did you think of the because a lot of
- 4:25Speaker 5: people start assessing the roster immediately blah blah blah. But
- 4:28Speaker 5: back in our day, when you get one of the
- 4:30Speaker 5: top five players in the league, like they say, in
- 4:32Speaker 5: this sport, one player can affect you more than anything, right,
- 4:35Speaker 5: and yet people want to criticize who's the fifth player
- 4:38Speaker 5: on the roster?
- 4:38Speaker 6: Who is this?
- 4:39Speaker 5: And so what were your thoughts when they got him?
- 4:41Speaker 5: How far do you see this move going in the
- 4:43Speaker 5: long term?
- 4:44Speaker 4: Well, I do think that, you know, pat Riley, the
- 4:48Speaker 4: Miami Heat are pretty good at this, and players have
- 4:51Speaker 4: always wanted to go to Miami, so they'll figure out
- 4:54Speaker 4: a way to get a few good players.
- 4:57Speaker 6: They obviously still need shooting. But I think you're right.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Look at their record the past couple of years since
- 5:02Speaker 4: they went to the finals. I haven't gotten out of
- 5:04Speaker 4: the first round. This year, they don't even make the playoffs,
- 5:07Speaker 4: and they're thinking, how.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Did we do it?
- 5:08Speaker 4: In previous years? It was Alonso Morning, it was Shaquille O'Neil.
- 5:11Speaker 4: We made a draft, a great draft pick with Dwayne Wade.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Then we bring in Lebron Chris Bosh, we get Jimmy Butler.
- 5:17Speaker 4: We have to swing for the fences and that's what
- 5:19Speaker 4: they did. A big part of it now will be
- 5:21Speaker 4: on y honest and I love Giannis with the show
- 5:23Speaker 4: that I do with Brian Scalabrini. The Bucks were always
- 5:25Speaker 4: great to us. We'd go there every October. We'd get
- 5:28Speaker 4: Giannis for about a half hour. He could not have
- 5:30Speaker 4: been a nicer guy. But let's be fair, he became
- 5:32Speaker 4: a royal pain in the neck this season. And when
- 5:34Speaker 4: you're a royal pain in the neck and you're not
- 5:36Speaker 4: delivering on the court, that's an issue. And in the
- 5:39Speaker 4: last ten playoff games that he's played in his team
- 5:42Speaker 4: is one and nine, so he's only won one of
- 5:45Speaker 4: the last ten playoff games.
- 5:46Speaker 6: He's been to.
- 5:47Speaker 4: But I think the Miami Heat have a way of
- 5:49Speaker 4: kind of rejuvenating a player. I think being down there
- 5:52Speaker 4: in Florida and when you want out, I think Giannis
- 5:55Speaker 4: is smart when it comes to this.
- 5:56Speaker 6: No, but regardless of how that's going to be spun.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Now initiated this whole thing, all this nonsense of one
- 6:02Speaker 4: of you know, the hundreds of sham stories that were written.
- 6:05Speaker 6: This was all Yannis. So you got your wish, you
- 6:08Speaker 6: have to deliver, and I think he will.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Uh right.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Do you have any concerns about Riley and Spoe putting
- 6:14Speaker 1: the right people around Giannis and Bam to make a
- 6:16Speaker 1: run at an NBA championship.
- 6:19Speaker 6: I don't.
- 6:19Speaker 4: I mean, I still think, you know, there's a lot
- 6:22Speaker 4: of appeal in going to Miami, and I think, yes,
- 6:26Speaker 4: are so are you gonna get Maybe veteran players are
- 6:28Speaker 4: gonna have to bite the bullet a little bit and
- 6:30Speaker 4: not make as much as they wanted. Listen, Landry Shamma
- 6:32Speaker 4: could be one of those players. It could be available
- 6:35Speaker 4: to the Miami Heat. So I think if you have
- 6:38Speaker 4: a chance to win, and I think its signals to
- 6:40Speaker 4: the fan base, but to the rest of the NBA. Listen,
- 6:42Speaker 4: we're looking to make a run and the Eastern Conference
- 6:44Speaker 4: is still wide open.
- 6:45Speaker 6: I mean the Knicks, I mean the way it works
- 6:47Speaker 6: here in New York, and I.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Love all the riders up here, but you know, they're
- 6:50Speaker 4: they're calling the Knicks the greatest New York team ever.
- 6:53Speaker 4: They won fifty three games during the regular season. They
- 6:56Speaker 4: basically took the regular season off, and then they had
- 6:59Speaker 4: to play Philly and in Cleveland, which they would have
- 7:01Speaker 4: beaten any year at any time. They had a great run,
- 7:05Speaker 4: is what they did. And then when they got to
- 7:07Speaker 4: the finals, they steamrolled. Well, I shouldn't say that they
- 7:09Speaker 4: did trail for most of the series, but they were
- 7:11Speaker 4: just a better team in the fourth quarter. But if
- 7:14Speaker 4: I'm the Miami Heat and I'm their fans, I'm pretty
- 7:17Speaker 4: optimistic that they could turn this around pretty quickly because
- 7:20Speaker 4: the East for me, is still not that impressive.
- 7:23Speaker 7: The other team that was reported in on Giannis was Boston.
- 7:26Speaker 7: Where do they go from now now that they didn't
- 7:28Speaker 7: get him?
- 7:29Speaker 4: Yeah, there's something. There's something up with Jalen Brown. I
- 7:33Speaker 4: think the Boston Celtics look at it as Jalen Brown's
- 7:35Speaker 4: a terrific player. He's I think it's one hundred and
- 7:38Speaker 4: forty two playoff games he's played for them, and he's
- 7:40Speaker 4: been a Finals MVP. He was drafted ten years ago
- 7:44Speaker 4: this week. That's what you want out of a guy
- 7:46Speaker 4: that you take high in the draft. But you know
- 7:48Speaker 4: the thing that he did after the season with Twitch.
- 7:50Speaker 4: I like Jalen Brown, But Jalen Brown is one of
- 7:52Speaker 4: these guys. It's always nobody likes me. The media doesn't
- 7:56Speaker 4: like me. Well, hang on a second. The media voted
- 7:58Speaker 4: you Eastern Conference Finals player MVP. You got a Finals MVP.
- 8:05Speaker 4: The media votes for all NBA. Well you could debate
- 8:09Speaker 4: that all you want that the media shouldn't do that,
- 8:12Speaker 4: but that led to him getting a bigger contract. And
- 8:14Speaker 4: this year, how about this, He got more media votes
- 8:17Speaker 4: than any player in the Eastern Conference to be a
- 8:20Speaker 4: starter on the All Star team. Then he finishes, you
- 8:24Speaker 4: know what was it, top five or top six in
- 8:26Speaker 4: MVP voting and for all NBA, and he's still bent.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Out of shape about Yeah, we hate it.
- 8:31Speaker 4: He looks at everything the wrong way, and I you
- 8:33Speaker 4: know he's going to be bent out of shape that
- 8:35Speaker 4: they talked to the Bucks about Giannis. So I think
- 8:37Speaker 4: we're eventually headed that way with Jalen Brown, but it's
- 8:41Speaker 4: all about what can you get back for him. I
- 8:43Speaker 4: think Jannis, they're looking to get a great player back.
- 8:46Speaker 4: They're not going to trade him for role players. I
- 8:47Speaker 4: can tell you that, Frank.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Is it strange that the narrative around Jalen Brown is
- 8:52Speaker 3: that the Celtics might have hit their ceiling with him,
- 8:54Speaker 3: But you start to think about what that ceiling was,
- 8:57Speaker 3: and it was a title right?
- 8:58Speaker 6: Yeah, yes, yes, I know.
- 9:02Speaker 4: And I like Jalen Brown. In fact, I voted for
- 9:05Speaker 4: him in the top five. I think I probably voted
- 9:07Speaker 4: him fourth or fifth in MVP, and I voted him
- 9:10Speaker 4: all NBA. Listen, he can't dribble. When he tries to
- 9:12Speaker 4: dribble behind his back, close your eyes because it's terrible.
- 9:15Speaker 6: But the guy does play all the time. He's a
- 9:18Speaker 6: two way player. I think he moans a little too
- 9:20Speaker 6: much about nobody likes me, that kind of thing.
- 9:23Speaker 4: But Brad Stevens isn't just going to trade Jalen Brown
- 9:25Speaker 4: for the sake of trading because they've been really successful
- 9:28Speaker 4: and guys, you know this, look at Boston's team this
- 9:32Speaker 4: year compared to last year.
- 9:33Speaker 6: Last year's team was far superior.
- 9:35Speaker 4: They broke the whole thing down to save money and
- 9:38Speaker 4: to get you know, for luxury tax in second April,
- 9:40Speaker 4: all the nonsense. That's why they got rid of all
- 9:43Speaker 4: those players. Last year they did really well. They were
- 9:46Speaker 4: terrible in the playoffs. In fact, if they had one
- 9:48Speaker 4: game five when they're up double digits on Philadelphia, that
- 9:51Speaker 4: may have changed things a little bit. They would have
- 9:53Speaker 4: had more rest going into a series against the New
- 9:56Speaker 4: York Knicks. I still think the Knicks would have beaten them.
- 9:58Speaker 4: But I think Brad Stevens is he knows that Jalen
- 10:01Speaker 4: Brown still has a lot of good years left in him.
- 10:03Speaker 6: But this is the thing.
- 10:05Speaker 4: He could sign a big extension in July. If he
- 10:08Speaker 4: doesn't get that extension, they're trading him.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Craig, what do you think about this one? Right by scale?
- 10:12Speaker 5: If you want uh Jalen Brown for opera and shang.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Gun, well, I said that, and then I included your
- 10:19Speaker 4: favorite player a Men Thompson.
- 10:20Speaker 6: Brian's.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Thompson.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Jesus, it's weird.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I'm not crazy about Evan Mobley because I'm not crazy
- 10:29Speaker 4: about anybody on Cleveland right now, because I just think
- 10:31Speaker 4: they're too soft. But the problem with Shane Gun. He's talented,
- 10:35Speaker 4: but he really does play below the rim. I mean
- 10:37Speaker 4: he plays like two feet below the rim, so he
- 10:40Speaker 4: gives you nothing. At the other end, I get that
- 10:42Speaker 4: he's a talented player. I would consider him if I
- 10:45Speaker 4: can get something else, and maybe I would if I'm
- 10:48Speaker 4: the Celtics, I'd have to include another player.
- 10:50Speaker 6: But I want your guy Thompson. I need a player
- 10:52Speaker 6: like that.
- 10:52Speaker 2: But b Smith and you'll like it.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Maybe right, But you know scal played with his father,
- 10:58Speaker 4: so Brian could introduce him to the boss.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And so Frank, you're so right about Brad Stevens because
- 11:03Speaker 1: as currently constructed, the Celtics, not the not the Knicks.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Not the Heat.
- 11:08Speaker 1: They're the favorites at every single sports book to make
- 11:11Speaker 1: it out.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Of the East.
- 11:12Speaker 4: You know, I don't get it, and like I didn't
- 11:15Speaker 4: really understand the trade for Busovich. You know, Vusovich speaking
- 11:19Speaker 4: about guys that you know play under the rim. He's
- 11:22Speaker 4: terrible in pick and roll. And I remember a couple
- 11:24Speaker 4: of NBA coaches saying, I don't know about this, when
- 11:26Speaker 4: Brad Stevens usually gets it right, but I'm not so
- 11:29Speaker 4: sure about this. And then the guy did even play
- 11:31Speaker 4: in Game seven. I think I would have kept Anthorty
- 11:34Speaker 4: Simon's I mean he was he actually played really well
- 11:36Speaker 4: for them. So Boston wanted Jaron Jackson Junior. I think
- 11:40Speaker 4: they were pretty close on that deal. If they had
- 11:43Speaker 4: nailed that before he got traded to Utah, maybe that
- 11:46Speaker 4: would have swung the balance.
- 11:47Speaker 6: But I'm being honest with you.
- 11:48Speaker 4: I thought all year long, I looked at the Knicks roster,
- 11:51Speaker 4: and I looked at everybody else in the East. I
- 11:53Speaker 4: just wasn't believing it. I thought the Knicks were going
- 11:55Speaker 4: to go to the finals, especially after Halliburton got hurt
- 11:58Speaker 4: in Game seven last year.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Who's going to beat the Knicks?
- 12:01Speaker 4: I mean you guys, I know didn't have any confidence
- 12:03Speaker 4: in Philadelphia, in Cleveland, and a team like Detroit they
- 12:06Speaker 4: didn't won a playoff series yet together, now you're gonna
- 12:09Speaker 4: be asking them to win three playoff series.
- 12:11Speaker 6: I wasn't buying it.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Boston was the best chance.
- 12:13Speaker 1: It felt like, yep, Stugotts here, the biggest stage in

- 13:37Speaker 1: You're into the World Cup here, which fan base have
- 13:40Speaker 1: you enjoyed? Kind of invading the United States the most
- 13:43Speaker 1: it's been fantastic.
- 13:44Speaker 2: It really has I believe in people again.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I did, yeah, And like you know, I have a
- 13:48Speaker 4: couple of friends from around here who are from Scotland
- 13:53Speaker 4: and they went up to Boston so they were part
- 13:55Speaker 4: of the Tartan Army and I know they're down in
- 13:57Speaker 4: Miami right now closing all kinds of fun havoc and
- 14:00Speaker 4: drinking a lot of beers. The Norway fans have been
- 14:03Speaker 4: in town so where I live, Germany is in town
- 14:07Speaker 4: right now, staying at the local hotel. And then England
- 14:10Speaker 4: shows up in a couple of days, so that maybe
- 14:12Speaker 4: all the groupies will be hanging. Not me, I'm not
- 14:15Speaker 4: really interested in meeting the players that much. But it,
- 14:18Speaker 4: come on, Stu, I know you don't. You don't like
- 14:20Speaker 4: the sport. You're getting caught up in it a little bit.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Oh yes, he is.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Oh no, I am, I love it? What do you
- 14:25Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Man?
- 14:26Speaker 1: I mean, I am all over this World Cup. I
- 14:28Speaker 1: am gambling blind World Cup bets. I'm making. I'm seven
- 14:31Speaker 1: to one on my picks. I did have the Harry
- 14:33Speaker 1: Kane anytime goal yesterday that was devastating, as.
- 14:36Speaker 6: He should and he shot that one over the bar.
- 14:39Speaker 4: You know that the toughest ticket to get for the
- 14:41Speaker 4: group stage is the game that's going to take place
- 14:44Speaker 4: in Miami between Colombia and Portugal. That's that's an unbelievable game.
- 14:47Speaker 4: It'll be for first place. There'll be all kinds of
- 14:50Speaker 4: beautiful people there at the game. And I gotta be
- 14:53Speaker 4: honest with you too, Right, when when did they build
- 14:55Speaker 4: what used to be called Joe Robbie still probably doesn't
- 14:57Speaker 4: know that because he's from New York. When did they
- 14:59Speaker 4: build that in the eight eighties or early nineties?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Right, I believe it was like eighty five, eighty six.
- 15:04Speaker 6: Something like that, And so think about it, and I
- 15:05Speaker 6: understand they renovated.
- 15:06Speaker 4: But when they built it, they built it with soccer
- 15:08Speaker 4: in mind eighties, and in ninety four they were gonna
- 15:11Speaker 4: have games there, but then the Marlins played there, so
- 15:14Speaker 4: they couldn't use the stadium. When you look at that stadium,
- 15:17Speaker 4: that looks the most like a soccer stadium because of
- 15:20Speaker 4: these the amount of space that they have on the sideline,
- 15:22Speaker 4: the stadium mail looks beautiful, the grass looks beautiful. For
- 15:25Speaker 4: some reason, they're having the final right down the road
- 15:27Speaker 4: here at MetLife, which as you guys know, is an
- 15:30Speaker 4: absolute dump. Have you seen the videos of the stadium
- 15:33Speaker 4: that they built for the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo has a
- 15:36Speaker 4: better stadium and a more state of the art, better
- 15:39Speaker 4: looking stadium than we have here in New York.
- 15:41Speaker 2: And dude, correct me if I'm wrong.
- 15:43Speaker 5: I think they went for that when they redesigned hard
- 15:45Speaker 5: Rock Stadium. They went for like an international soccer type
- 15:48Speaker 5: of field and look, especially.
- 15:50Speaker 1: With the stever, it was very important that Stephen Ross,
- 15:53Speaker 1: knowing the World Cup was coming, he wanted to have
- 15:55Speaker 1: something that looked close to a soccer field.
- 15:57Speaker 2: You know, right, and had all the space inside.
- 15:59Speaker 6: Now, how much is the park? How you guys like
- 16:02Speaker 6: about transportation? What's the parking? Like?
- 16:04Speaker 2: There is some anywhere close to that stadium. I have
- 16:07Speaker 2: no idea what the parking is. Moved two hours north
- 16:10Speaker 2: when it came to town.
- 16:12Speaker 6: So think about this.
- 16:14Speaker 4: They're not letting people park at MetLife and you can't
- 16:19Speaker 4: walk to the stadium. Now New Jersey Transit the trains
- 16:24Speaker 4: that they have running there, it's ninety eight dollars oh
- 16:28Speaker 4: to take basically a ten minute train ride.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I thought it was sposing one hundred and twenty. They
- 16:31Speaker 2: lowered the price.
- 16:32Speaker 7: Yeah, they lowered it. Frank I bought four World Cup
- 16:35Speaker 7: tickets to Norway Senegal, which was played Monday night.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Did you go to the game?
- 16:40Speaker 3: No?
- 16:40Speaker 7: I did not, because when they started saying after I
- 16:42Speaker 7: spent twenty seven twenty eight hundred dollars on tickets, they said,
- 16:46Speaker 7: now you're gonna have to spend another four hundred dollars
- 16:48Speaker 7: just to get there and wait for hours to get
- 16:50Speaker 7: on a train to get home. I said, you know what,
- 16:53Speaker 7: I'm out.
- 16:54Speaker 6: I know it's it's such a bummer.
- 16:56Speaker 4: I got tickets there on July fifth, so I'll see,
- 16:59Speaker 4: I'll see what it's like. But I've had people tell
- 17:00Speaker 4: me they take an uber to that American Dream that's
- 17:04Speaker 4: that awful amusement park mall that's right next to it.
- 17:08Speaker 4: And I had people tell me that it was a
- 17:09Speaker 4: ten mile you know, people who live ten miles away,
- 17:12Speaker 4: and they were charging about one hundred bucks. So everybody
- 17:15Speaker 4: is making money off and you feel bad because you guys, know,
- 17:17Speaker 4: I mean, think about who A lot of the people
- 17:19Speaker 4: who go into these games, A lot of them, like say,
- 17:22Speaker 4: in the New York area, we have huge Ecuadorian population here.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Not all of them have a ton of money. I met.
- 17:28Speaker 4: I spoke to one guy the place that I go to,
- 17:30Speaker 4: who's a bar tend hesedn't make crazy money. He spent
- 17:33Speaker 4: six hundred dollars a ticket to go to Philly, wo
- 17:36Speaker 4: and now to go to the game in New Jersey.
- 17:39Speaker 4: He didn't make it to the game in Kansas City,
- 17:41Speaker 4: and my buddy said to him, like, you get emotional.
- 17:44Speaker 4: He said, I probably cried seven times. He said, when
- 17:47Speaker 4: I walked into the stadium, when I heard the anthem
- 17:50Speaker 4: while the game was going on. Then he said, he
- 17:51Speaker 4: cried at the end when they gave up a late goal.
- 17:53Speaker 4: It means a lot to people, and a lot of
- 17:55Speaker 4: people don't have that kind of money like you guys do.
- 17:57Speaker 6: You're big spenders over there.
- 18:00Speaker 3: If the Knicks have taught us anything, we are a
- 18:02Speaker 3: country full of front runners. And I think that's the
- 18:04Speaker 3: main reason why people are getting swept up in the
- 18:07Speaker 3: World Cup with how good the US men's national team looks.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Can they win it?
- 18:12Speaker 6: Yep, oh, I definitely think they can. It's set up.
- 18:16Speaker 4: I always say, you know, there are certain events where
- 18:18Speaker 4: it's set up for someone to at least go far,
- 18:21Speaker 4: like Serena Williams the last time that she was going
- 18:23Speaker 4: to play in the US Open. Now that probably isn't
- 18:25Speaker 4: the last time. It was all set up for her.
- 18:27Speaker 4: They wanted to make sure she got to the second week.
- 18:30Speaker 4: They want you to get the Labor Day weekend, so
- 18:32Speaker 4: her draw was ridiculously easy. And then before every match
- 18:35Speaker 4: they had Oprah doing like a voiceover and Gail King
- 18:38Speaker 4: was doing something. They wanted to make sure she got
- 18:40Speaker 4: to the second week. FIFA wants to make sure the
- 18:43Speaker 4: US gets to the quarterfinals, and right now it's set
- 18:47Speaker 4: up pretty well for them. They play Bosnia, I mean,
- 18:49Speaker 4: I should say it looks like it could be Bosnia
- 18:52Speaker 4: in Egypt. Now they could lose those, but it's not
- 18:55Speaker 4: like they're playing France or Germany or Spain in around
- 18:58Speaker 4: to thirty two in the around of sixteen. So I
- 19:00Speaker 4: definitely think they can win it, just because they can
- 19:02Speaker 4: catch a couple of breaks. But guess what, at some
- 19:05Speaker 4: point they're gonna have to play a really good team
- 19:08Speaker 4: like the Knicks. It wasn't just gonna be Philadelphia and Cleveland.
- 19:11Speaker 4: At some point they were gonna have to play a
- 19:12Speaker 4: really good team.
- 19:13Speaker 2: And you feel like this team could beat some of
- 19:15Speaker 2: those really good teams.
- 19:17Speaker 4: They would It would take a lot. It would take
- 19:20Speaker 4: a lot. You'd have to have, like let's say they
- 19:21Speaker 4: played France, you'd have to have been bope, not have
- 19:24Speaker 4: a great day. If you score early, could that kind
- 19:26Speaker 4: of change things? Obviously they would have the crowd behind.
- 19:29Speaker 4: I mean it's still a long shot, but I mean
- 19:32Speaker 4: they've looked really good.
- 19:33Speaker 6: To their credit, they they have looked really good like
- 19:36Speaker 6: the Knicks, though.
- 19:38Speaker 3: The French in our way.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Yeah, very good, very good.
- 19:42Speaker 4: But here's the thing though, the coach of France, if
- 19:45Speaker 4: there's five point seven seconds to go in the game,
- 19:49Speaker 4: he would guard the inbounds pass and not allow O
- 19:52Speaker 4: Jannanoby to get them. And he would say and he
- 19:54Speaker 4: would probably take the Aaron Fox out of the game.
- 19:56Speaker 6: That's for five point seven secs? Ago? Is he? YEA
- 19:59Speaker 6: god us, Mitch Johnson, how bad of a series did
- 20:02Speaker 6: he coach?
- 20:02Speaker 2: Oh? My god?
- 20:03Speaker 5: It was terrible.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Frank.
- 20:05Speaker 5: There was just points where I was just like, I
- 20:07Speaker 5: don't think this guy's paying attention. I think he wants
- 20:09Speaker 5: to just cower in the corner. The reason he doesn't
- 20:11Speaker 5: want to call it time out is because he's got
- 20:13Speaker 5: nothing to say to his group like it was pretty bad.
- 20:16Speaker 4: How about the stats where they had a double digit
- 20:19Speaker 4: lead in every game, which includes all three home games
- 20:22Speaker 4: which they lost, and they led for seventy two percent
- 20:25Speaker 4: of the series. Crazy, and they had a twenty nine
- 20:28Speaker 4: point lead on the road in lost.
- 20:29Speaker 5: Angles and kept calling plays where d'aron Fox is running
- 20:32Speaker 5: the pick and roll and kept finding a way to
- 20:34Speaker 5: run it against their best defenders.
- 20:36Speaker 2: How are you doing this all wrong?
- 20:38Speaker 4: The best quote of the finals, though, was Darren Fox
- 20:42Speaker 4: after Game four when he made the mistake of going
- 20:44Speaker 4: for the layup and when they asked Hi about he said, well,
- 20:47Speaker 4: we hadn't scored in a while. Excuse me, You guys
- 20:49Speaker 4: had scored with thirty seconds on Stefan Castle had two
- 20:52Speaker 4: free throws which gave you the one point lead. How
- 20:54Speaker 4: about the point guard, the veteran point guy that's supposed
- 20:56Speaker 4: to kind of be the brains of the operation, who
- 20:59Speaker 4: now you got to pay order twenty nine million dollars to.
- 21:01Speaker 4: But I was the owner, I'd tell the GM he's
- 21:04Speaker 4: not getting another dime on my money.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I would pay you.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I mean, that's how important he was to them winning
- 21:09Speaker 1: an NBA championship. So true is he why don't you
- 21:13Speaker 1: pitch your Wemby French soccer idea to I.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Was gonna say, since you opened the door there to
- 21:18Speaker 5: Wemby being on the national team for soccer, I'm leaving
- 21:23Speaker 5: a roster spot open just for Victor winmbin Yama. When
- 21:26Speaker 5: you've got second half stoppage time, either a tie game
- 21:30Speaker 5: or your trailing where you're going to get a corner
- 21:32Speaker 5: kick and you need a goal, I'm bringing in the
- 21:35Speaker 5: seven four man for the highest header ever and then
- 21:38Speaker 5: just try to slam it in there, just lop it up.
- 21:41Speaker 4: It's not the craziest thing. I always said that with
- 21:44Speaker 4: like football. Remember you guys are too young to remember
- 21:46Speaker 4: Harold Carmichael. They used to do that against I remember
- 21:49Speaker 4: it was young. They would just throw the ball up
- 21:51Speaker 4: in the air. Now jump everybody. Why don't NFL.
- 21:54Speaker 6: Teams do that?
- 21:55Speaker 4: Get like a crazy like six foot eight, six foot
- 21:58Speaker 4: nine athletic guy that could have.
- 22:00Speaker 6: It's not the craziest thing to bring him in.
- 22:03Speaker 4: By the way, we actually we actually talked a little
- 22:05Speaker 4: football with Victor Winbinyam at the finals. Who, by the way,
- 22:09Speaker 4: could the Knicks media and the Knick fans have done
- 22:13Speaker 4: a better job of beating this.
- 22:14Speaker 6: Poor guy up.
- 22:15Speaker 4: He went from being after the conference final, Oh it's
- 22:18Speaker 4: so great, he's the new face of the NBA. Then
- 22:20Speaker 4: he became the villain just because he was playing a
- 22:22Speaker 4: little rough in the series. It was a little over
- 22:24Speaker 4: the top.
- 22:25Speaker 6: You nick fans play off the guy.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I don't think he minds it, though, do you No?
- 22:30Speaker 1: Come on, dude, I think don't care.
- 22:33Speaker 5: If he's going to play physical, that's what it looks
- 22:36Speaker 5: like because he's so skinny, he's going to have to
- 22:38Speaker 5: do some things that look dirty because he's just not
- 22:40Speaker 5: that strong.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and I thought that that one game, the flagrant
- 22:43Speaker 4: foul the fourth one, Come on, that wasn't a foul.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Get yeah, we'll get you out here in a second.
- 22:49Speaker 1: If the United States actually went on to win the
- 22:52Speaker 1: World Cup, what kind of lasting impact do you think
- 22:55Speaker 1: it would have here in the United States? How long
- 22:57Speaker 1: would we enjoy it? What kind of impact would it?
- 23:00Speaker 1: Because I maintained Week one of the NFL, we forget
- 23:02Speaker 1: about it?
- 23:03Speaker 2: How about that?
- 23:03Speaker 6: No? I think you're right about that. Yeah I do.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I kept thinking if they win it, do they have
- 23:09Speaker 4: a parade and where would they parade?
- 23:12Speaker 6: B do they have the parade in New York. It
- 23:15Speaker 6: would have to be that Jen Dolan.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Could give a similar terrific speech like he gave him
- 23:19Speaker 4: the next one. Do they I mean, do they go
- 23:22Speaker 4: to the White House.
- 23:23Speaker 7: We're not very good at the parades thing here in
- 23:25Speaker 7: New York. I don't know if you saw any of
- 23:27Speaker 7: the videos, so maybe go somewhere else.
- 23:30Speaker 4: How about how about how about the woman that stole
- 23:32Speaker 4: the garbage pail and then got fired from our job?
- 23:35Speaker 6: Wait what happened? You didn't see that?
- 23:37Speaker 4: No, so you know they painted one of the disgusting
- 23:41Speaker 4: garbage pails blue and orange. The woman is on video
- 23:47Speaker 4: taking the garbage pail, dumping the contents out, and then
- 23:51Speaker 4: she's photographed on the subway with the garbage pail. She
- 23:54Speaker 4: works for JP Morgan Chase senior executive. Yeah, they fired.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Is it really worth it? I said, five years of
- 24:02Speaker 4: hard labor for stealing something like that.
- 24:05Speaker 5: All the things that people do during a parade to
- 24:07Speaker 5: desecrate the city, and this woman loses a finance job
- 24:11Speaker 5: over a garbage can.
- 24:13Speaker 6: Well, all right, so how about what if she had
- 24:15Speaker 6: done this?
- 24:15Speaker 4: What if she had brought a plastic huge plastic bag
- 24:19Speaker 4: dump the garbage in the plastic bag and then taking
- 24:21Speaker 4: the garbage path. See, the garbage pill is not the
- 24:23Speaker 4: worst thing. It's dumping the garbage on it.
- 24:25Speaker 5: It's a garbage I'm okay, that's worth losing your job.
- 24:31Speaker 3: And because everybody was stealing them, New York came out
- 24:34Speaker 3: and was like, Hey, we're going to sell these trash cans.
- 24:37Speaker 3: You would think an executive at Jason True just can
- 24:40Speaker 3: just go out and buy one.
- 24:41Speaker 6: Yeah. Did you go to the did you go to
- 24:43Speaker 6: the parade? Yeah? It was it was a nightmare.
- 24:45Speaker 3: I'll never once in a lifetime event, Frank, I'll never
- 24:47Speaker 3: do it again in my lifetime.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I had people telling me they would get they got
- 24:52Speaker 4: up at like four in the morning to go to
- 24:54Speaker 4: the parade.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yes, it was one of them.
- 24:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:56Speaker 3: My train, my train into Caucus got there around like
- 24:59Speaker 3: four point thirty eight.
- 25:00Speaker 6: Where do you live?
- 25:02Speaker 3: I was staying in like Piermont, Rockland County, But then
- 25:05Speaker 3: I just chipped in New Jersey Transit in.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Yeah, And I wasn't going to that parade. Even the media,
- 25:11Speaker 4: even the media guys didn't like it.
- 25:13Speaker 6: You know who was there though?
- 25:14Speaker 4: And what a Stepan BONDI said he got into it
- 25:18Speaker 4: with one of her security guards was AOC.
- 25:20Speaker 6: Was there at the parade?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Oh really?
- 25:22Speaker 4: And I guess he went into a secured air because
- 25:24Speaker 4: he wanted to ask her a question and they you know,
- 25:26Speaker 4: it was like a little back and forth. I give
- 25:29Speaker 4: him credit for trying to shoot a shot with AOC.
- 25:31Speaker 2: What'd you do parade day? You got as far away
- 25:33Speaker 2: from the city as possible.
- 25:34Speaker 4: There's no way I was going. First of all, I'm
- 25:36Speaker 4: not in my twenties and thirties. I'm not going to that.
- 25:38Speaker 4: I can't be around crowd. It's all like it's mostly
- 25:41Speaker 4: going to be dudes sweating on each other just and
- 25:44Speaker 4: then what if you get against It's the same thing
- 25:46Speaker 4: with New Year's Eve. Once you're in that area and
- 25:48Speaker 4: you have a good place, you can't leave to go
- 25:51Speaker 4: to the bathroom.
- 25:52Speaker 6: It's not like someone's going to hold your spots. So
- 25:54Speaker 6: I'm not I can't do that.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Frank My bigger problem with the parade, and I think
- 25:59Speaker 3: something that we need to put forward with parades going forward.
- 26:03Speaker 3: There should be like a checkpoint where you have to
- 26:05Speaker 3: name a player, and if you can name that player,
- 26:07Speaker 3: you get further through the checkpoint. I'm looking at everybody
- 26:10Speaker 3: I'm like a lot of these people, these.
- 26:12Speaker 6: Are this is like they're twenty.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I watched I watched Lance Thomas and Andrea Barniani,
- 26:18Speaker 3: Like I kind of deserve.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Now the cops just have pictures like mug shots of
- 26:22Speaker 5: Knicks players.
- 26:23Speaker 8: Wait, so what you have is you have check exactly
- 26:26Speaker 8: have to take a little bit level set up where
- 26:28Speaker 8: Lance Thomas is the guy who lets you through to
- 26:31Speaker 8: the next gate, but you have to identify Lance Thomas.
- 26:34Speaker 3: A police officer holds up a picture and I go,
- 26:36Speaker 3: that's Damon Dotson and he goes, you're clear, that's your.
- 26:40Speaker 6: How about front row?
- 26:42Speaker 4: How about how about all the celebrities the way that
- 26:44Speaker 4: they were behaving? Yeah, and then we're like, I love
- 26:46Speaker 4: Steven A, but Steve saying that Spike should get a ring, Like, what.
- 26:49Speaker 6: Are we talking about?
- 26:50Speaker 2: You?
- 26:51Speaker 6: I can Can it just be about the players? Does
- 26:54Speaker 6: it have to be about the celebrities as well?
- 26:56Speaker 4: And yeah, they're all nice people, but my god, they
- 26:59Speaker 4: were You know, if Chalame wins the Academy Award, would
- 27:03Speaker 4: it then be okay? If Carl Anthony Towns and Jama
- 27:05Speaker 4: Bunson run up on stage, you.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Know what is doing there? You know?
- 27:11Speaker 1: What he's doing there, Because if Spike Spike getting a
- 27:14Speaker 1: ring means Steven A is one step closer to getting
- 27:17Speaker 1: his own ring.
- 27:17Speaker 2: You know that.
- 27:19Speaker 6: I don't get it.
- 27:20Speaker 4: I mean, why can't it just be about the players
- 27:22Speaker 4: and you're celebrating as a fan. But now it's like
- 27:25Speaker 4: you're talking about tears. It's like tears of fans. It's like,
- 27:28Speaker 4: you know, you know, whether you're Spike or Ben Stiller
- 27:32Speaker 4: or Timothy Shall. How about Marishka Haggerty's time here. I
- 27:36Speaker 4: mean she jumped into Rick Brunson's arms after they won
- 27:39Speaker 4: Game four. Had he won the title yet?
- 27:41Speaker 6: Yes?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Hey, I think Taylor was just saying, hey, the more
- 27:43Speaker 1: you know, the bigger nick fan you are, the closer
- 27:46Speaker 1: you should get to the garade.
- 27:47Speaker 2: That's all.
- 27:48Speaker 4: I kind of agree with that, And that's why Spike
- 27:50Speaker 4: gets a pass because all the celebrities were kind of
- 27:52Speaker 4: fighting to see I'm the biggest celebrity Nicka.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Spike.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Spike's at a different level than everybody else.
- 27:58Speaker 2: All Right, Frank, we appreciate a buddy. Enjoy your weekend,
- 28:01Speaker 2: enjoy the World Cup, and I'm sorry sports has gotten
- 28:04Speaker 2: the way of your summer.
- 28:07Speaker 6: Thanks, boys, have a good day
