Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to get right
• 0:06
Speaker 1: back to the Bill Gates transcript from his meeting with
• 0:09
Speaker 1: Congress mister Bell. Good evening, mister Gates, Wesley Bell, Missouri's
• 0:15
Speaker 1: first District. I'm going to introduce what's been labeled as
• 0:18
Speaker 1: minority Exhibit M, which is a photo of you, mister Epstein,
• 0:22
Speaker 1: Boris Nikolitch, Jess Daley, and Larry Summers. Is that correct, Gates? Yeah? Belle?
• 0:29
Speaker 1: And when was this photo taken? Answer by Gates, Yeah,
• 0:32
Speaker 1: I can give you the date there it is. No
• 0:34
Speaker 1: you just want buy it, mister Moran. No, this is
• 0:37
Speaker 1: a different one, Gates. This is a different one, Moran,
• 0:41
Speaker 1: than the one we just than what you just gets
• 0:44
Speaker 1: cut off by Gates. Okay, but it's on the same night.
• 0:47
Speaker 1: I mean, there's only one night that these five people
• 0:49
Speaker 1: are in the same location. So if you just tell
• 0:51
Speaker 1: me that date question, May second, twenty eleven, Gates, this
• 0:56
Speaker 1: is a dinner at Epstein's New York residence on May second, eleven. Belle,
• 1:02
Speaker 1: I would like to go piecemeal. So this was May
• 1:04
Speaker 1: sewid and what year Gates, twenty eleven? Bell twenty eleven,
• 1:09
Speaker 1: And where was the photo taken? Gates? This was at
• 1:12
Speaker 1: Epstein's New York residence, Belle. And this was the first gathering,
• 1:16
Speaker 1: or a gathering of some sort, Gates. There was a
• 1:19
Speaker 1: dinner that all five and only the five people you
• 1:22
Speaker 1: see here had dinner together. I believe this was after
• 1:26
Speaker 1: the dinner, Belle. And what was the purpose of that dinner? Gates. Yeah,
• 1:31
Speaker 1: this is the second time that I meet Epstein, and
• 1:33
Speaker 1: I'm in New York for other things, and we had dinner.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: I would say the discussion was pretty broad ranging, with
• 1:39
Speaker 1: doctor Summers talking about the economy and a variety of things,
• 1:43
Speaker 1: jess Daley talking about a few of the economy things
• 1:46
Speaker 1: going on. And in all of these meetings I would
• 1:49
Speaker 1: have brought up the foundation work I was doing, Belle, Okay,
• 1:52
Speaker 1: But the meeting, the dinner, the purpose of it, what
• 1:55
Speaker 1: was the original purpose of the meeting? Gates. You know,
• 1:59
Speaker 1: this is the same second time I meet Epstein. So
• 2:01
Speaker 1: this idea of going after donors, that really doesn't It
• 2:05
Speaker 1: may have been mentioned casually, but it's not until twenty
• 2:08
Speaker 1: thirteen that there's any real engagement on that. So it
• 2:11
Speaker 1: may have come up, you know, I at the time
• 2:13
Speaker 1: thought having a chance to listen to doctor Summers and
• 2:16
Speaker 1: mister Staley would be educational to me. And I was
• 2:19
Speaker 1: there for other reasons and this fit into my schedule.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: So this was the second time that I saw mister Epstein.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: I saw one more time that year where he dropped
• 2:28
Speaker 1: by my office, and that you know, that's the three
• 2:30
Speaker 1: meetings in twenty eleven, and then a year goes by,
• 2:34
Speaker 1: and in the fall of twenty thirteen there's two meetings
• 2:37
Speaker 1: and then you have to get out into twenty thirteen
• 2:40
Speaker 1: before there's any additional meetings. Bell And just to be clear,
• 2:44
Speaker 1: other than the economy or economic discussions, what else was
• 2:48
Speaker 1: discussed gates? You know, news of the day, where the
• 2:51
Speaker 1: foundation was succeeding, what was challenging for the foundation. Doctor Summers,
• 2:56
Speaker 1: you know, worked at the World Bank and had been
• 2:58
Speaker 1: part of a book that was very influential to me
• 3:01
Speaker 1: called the World Development a Report in ninety three which
• 3:05
Speaker 1: went through why children under five die and it broke
• 3:08
Speaker 1: it down and that piece of work that he was
• 3:11
Speaker 1: the head of the project doing that had a substantial
• 3:13
Speaker 1: impact on me. And I remember bringing it up to
• 3:16
Speaker 1: him that he influenced my decision to devote philanthropic resources
• 3:20
Speaker 1: to saving children's lives. Bell, So at the time, did
• 3:23
Speaker 1: you know Jess Stay Gates? No, this is the first
• 3:27
Speaker 1: time and the last time I ever met Jess Stay.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: I knew of Jess as a very senior JP Morgan officer. Belle,
• 3:35
Speaker 1: did you know Larry Summers? Gates? I know a lot
• 3:38
Speaker 1: about Larry Summers. I'm trying to think if I had
• 3:40
Speaker 1: met him in person before the dinner. I never had
• 3:43
Speaker 1: a dinner with Larry Summers. I may have met him,
• 3:45
Speaker 1: but this was my first extended conversation with them. Belle
• 3:50
Speaker 1: and mister Gates. Who else was at this gathering? Mister Gates,
• 3:53
Speaker 1: doctor Nikolic, and mister Epstein, mister Bell just the people
• 3:57
Speaker 1: in the photo? Answer? Yeah, the dinner was with exactly
• 4:00
Speaker 1: the five people you see in this photo. Apparently there's
• 4:03
Speaker 1: multiple versions of the photo. Belle cuts them off. So
• 4:07
Speaker 1: who took the photo? Gates? Good question, it's clearly not
• 4:11
Speaker 1: a selfie, mister moron. You don't remember, Gates, I don't remember.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: Maybe the cook, maybe an assistant, I'm not sure, Belle.
• 4:19
Speaker 1: And then the last question, were there any young women
• 4:22
Speaker 1: present on that occasion? Gates? None? Belle, I yield back.
• 4:27
Speaker 1: Now it's mister submaranium. Thank you again for being here.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: I haven't been here the whole time. Today today is
• 4:34
Speaker 1: a busy day, so I apologize if any of the
• 4:36
Speaker 1: questions I ask you have already been asked. But I'll
• 4:39
Speaker 1: do my best. But I think earlier so you've been mentioning.
• 4:42
Speaker 1: The purpose of knowing mister Epstein was he would introduce
• 4:46
Speaker 1: you to folks who would contribute to the Gates Foundation.
• 4:49
Speaker 1: And I was just wondering if you could kind of
• 4:51
Speaker 1: rattle off some people he introduced you to. I think
• 4:54
Speaker 1: I heard Leon Black and Josh Harris and Mord Zuckerman,
• 4:57
Speaker 1: maybe Tom Pritzker. Is there anyone else in introduced you
• 5:00
Speaker 1: to for the purpose of supporting the Gates Foundation? Gates, Well,
• 5:04
Speaker 1: two things. First, the contributions of global health would not
• 5:08
Speaker 1: have come to the Gates Foundation, Submaranium, I see Gates.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: They would have gone to things like Global Alliance four
• 5:14
Speaker 1: Vaccines or the Global Fund and the other endeavors to
• 5:17
Speaker 1: help global health, but not to the Gates Foundation, Submaranium,
• 5:21
Speaker 1: Thank you Gates. Secondly, Epstein was pretty vague about specific
• 5:25
Speaker 1: names for a long time, and that was frustrating to me,
• 5:29
Speaker 1: and particularly after dinner and fall of twenty thirteen, when
• 5:32
Speaker 1: my ex wife Melinda came, she had a very negative
• 5:35
Speaker 1: reaction to mister Epstein was saying, look, you know, either
• 5:39
Speaker 1: get these donations. You know, maybe you should just cut
• 5:41
Speaker 1: it off now showing better judgment than I showed, or
• 5:44
Speaker 1: you know, make this concrete. And I chose to continue
• 5:48
Speaker 1: pursuing it. But then I was very hardcore Jeffrey, Okay,
• 5:51
Speaker 1: who are these people, Let's meet with them. And there's
• 5:55
Speaker 1: a lot of delay, but eventually the results in September
• 5:58
Speaker 1: twenty fourteen. Is it September twenty fourteen meeting where we're
• 6:02
Speaker 1: finally meeting for the first time. This is Epstein showing
• 6:06
Speaker 1: what he thinks might do this, you know, different from
• 6:08
Speaker 1: this broad allusion to lots of Wall Street billionaires, lots
• 6:12
Speaker 1: of Middle East billionaires. You know, he had me meet
• 6:15
Speaker 1: with people who, as I said, were friendly, but didn't
• 6:18
Speaker 1: fit that as they were not in any nearer term
• 6:22
Speaker 1: going to give substantial resources to global health. Mister Summeranium,
• 6:26
Speaker 1: I apologize. Who are these people? Gates? The people I
• 6:30
Speaker 1: met that day were Leon Black. I don't know if
• 6:32
Speaker 1: we were scheduled to see Josh Harris or if he
• 6:35
Speaker 1: was just in the office there and that was impromptu,
• 6:37
Speaker 1: but we saw him, Mark Zuckerberg, Tom Pritzker, and that's
• 6:42
Speaker 1: all Summeranium. Did he ever bring up Les Wexner? Gates
• 6:46
Speaker 1: ever bring up summaranium? Less Wexner as someone who would Gates, No,
• 6:50
Speaker 1: that name never came up. Summeranium, Okay, And there was
• 6:54
Speaker 1: one name one email, and I apologize I don't have
• 6:57
Speaker 1: copies of it. I can give it to you, but
• 6:59
Speaker 1: there's an email on September sixteenth, twenty thirteen, saying did
• 7:03
Speaker 1: Jaye want to meet the follow up with and then
• 7:06
Speaker 1: redacted and see if her redacted would like to come
• 7:08
Speaker 1: join Jay's meeting with Brock slash Bill Gates. Gates, I
• 7:14
Speaker 1: should take a look at that Sumerannium. Yes, I'll give
• 7:16
Speaker 1: you a copy. Gates, I don't remember it. Submaranium. You
• 7:20
  Speaker 1: weren't on the email, I believe, But I guess I
• 7:22
Speaker 1: want to know who Barack is because Brock seems to
• 7:25
Speaker 1: be There are a lot of Brocks. It could be
• 7:27
Speaker 1: Elwood Barock, it could be Barack Obama. Mister Gates, yeah,
• 7:31
Speaker 1: I never met any Barocks in connection with Epstein. There
• 7:34
Speaker 1: were no Brocks whose names were mentioned or that I
• 7:38
Speaker 1: met with Summerannium, okay, thank you. And did he Epstein?
• 7:42
Speaker 1: Never have you sign an NDA at any point or
• 7:45
Speaker 1: have anyone sign an NDA? Gates? No, I never signed
• 7:48
Speaker 1: anything in connection with Epstein Summaranian. And did you have
• 7:52
Speaker 1: him sign an NDA or anyone else signed an NDA
• 7:55
Speaker 1: at any point? Gates not, mister Epstein. I think I
• 7:59
Speaker 1: mentioned earlier that it maybe when somebody comes into the
• 8:01
Speaker 1: Gates Ventures employee or the foundation, they do, but I'm
• 8:05
Speaker 1: not familiar with what specific practices are Submaranium. And then
• 8:10
Speaker 1: did you do any sort of background check on him? Gates?
• 8:13
Speaker 1: On whom Submaranium on Jeffrey Epstein? Gates, I wish I
• 8:18
Speaker 1: had done more, but I did enough to know did
• 8:21
Speaker 1: do enough to know that he had been criminally convicted
• 8:23
Speaker 1: in two thousand and eight or two thousand and nine
• 8:25
Speaker 1: of a sexually related offense, mister Summaranium. And since the
• 8:30
Speaker 1: experience with him, do you do more thorough background checks now? Gates? Absolutely, Summeranium, Okay,
• 8:36
Speaker 1: thank you, That's all I have. Mister Morphy is now
• 8:41
Speaker 1: asking questions. Thank you, mister Gates. I'm Congressman Rajah Krishna
• 8:46
Speaker 1: Morthy from Illinois. Did Jeffrey Epstein ever reference foreign intelligence
• 8:50
Speaker 1: agencies to you? Gates? He did not question. Did you
• 8:55
Speaker 1: ever have any evidence or see any evidence that he
• 8:57
Speaker 1: might have been a foreign asset? Gates? I did not question,
• 9:01
Speaker 1: did he ever make any threats to you about revealing
• 9:03
Speaker 1: any particular piece of information about you or your family
• 9:07
Speaker 1: or your background? Gates? Well, I viewed the attempt to
• 9:11
Speaker 1: have me reimburse him for things he purportedly paid for
• 9:14
Speaker 1: for the bridge player. I viewed that as taking a
• 9:17
Speaker 1: step beyond the veil comments he made during doctor Nikolitch's exit.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: You know, at that point, although it's kind of trivial,
• 9:23
Speaker 1: some of money I thought that, you know, was moving
• 9:26
Speaker 1: further down the line of him threatening, although you know
• 9:30
Speaker 1: the way he phrased it, is it that this was
• 9:33
Speaker 1: just a reimbursement for something I did, even going as
• 9:35
Speaker 1: far as to pretend that I had somehow encouraged him
• 9:38
Speaker 1: to do so, which is completely false, mister krishnal Morthy.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: And how much money was that again, that he asked
• 9:45
Speaker 1: you to pay back? Gates? I won't remember the amounts,
• 9:48
Speaker 1: but it's you know, thousands of dollars, not tens of
• 9:51
Speaker 1: thousands of dollars kryshnal Morty Okay. Besides that, did he
• 9:55
Speaker 1: ever ask you for any other money? Gates? No, I
• 9:58
Speaker 1: never paid him. I made it clearly he would not
• 10:00
Speaker 1: be paid, and I never paid him. Christ No Morty Okay.
• 10:04
Speaker 1: In your discussions with any other world leaders or any
• 10:07
Speaker 1: other dignitaries, has anybody else referenced Jeffrey Epstein in the
• 10:10
Speaker 1: context of him having made threats to them or comments
• 10:14
Speaker 1: to the effect that he might be an intelligence asset? Gates.
• 10:18
Speaker 1: No mention of Jeffrey Epstein has ever come up in
• 10:20
Speaker 1: any discussion with the world leaders that I have met.
• 10:23
Speaker 1: Christnal Morty Forbes, I'm sorry. Wall Street Journal reported that
• 10:27
Speaker 1: Warren Buffett stopped giving the Gates Foundation in part because
• 10:30
Speaker 1: of the Epstein situation, and in March of this year,
• 10:33
Speaker 1: he told CNBC that he's going to make his decision
• 10:36
Speaker 1: in June of this year, so this month as to
• 10:39
Speaker 1: whether he's going to give more to the Gates Foundation,
• 10:42
Speaker 1: based on what else he sees with the Epstein files.
• 10:45
Speaker 1: What did he tell you gives him cause for concern
• 10:48
Speaker 1: with regard to your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Gates, The
• 10:53
Speaker 1: last time I talked to Warren directly was in January,
• 10:55
Speaker 1: where we didn't talk about this. I think it was
• 10:58
Speaker 1: prior to the release of the Epstein file. We talked
• 11:00
Speaker 1: about my health challenges and some other things. I'm sure
• 11:03
Speaker 1: you know he's looking at the press. I don't think
• 11:05
Speaker 1: he has any knowledge other than what he's reading in
• 11:08
Speaker 1: the press. Question. In an interview with Emily Kirkpatrick, your
• 11:14
Speaker 1: wife Melinda said that when you first met Jeffrey Epstein.
• 11:17
Speaker 1: I'm sorry, this is an interview with Gail King of
• 11:19
Speaker 1: CBS this morning. She said, I regretted meeting Jeffrey Epstein
• 11:23
Speaker 1: the second I walked in the door. He was abhorrent.
• 11:26
Speaker 1: He was evil personified. What does she say to you
• 11:30
Speaker 1: about the first meeting that letter to believe that he
• 11:32
Speaker 1: was evil personified? Gates, Yeah, so I believe her only
• 11:36
Speaker 1: meeting with Epstein was the dinner that I had described
• 11:39
Speaker 1: that she came to, and she definitely had a very
• 11:42
Speaker 1: negative impression of him. Krishna Morthy why Gates her instinct
• 11:46
Speaker 1: about arrogant men or I'm sure what, but she certainly
• 11:50
Speaker 1: showed better judgment than I did. Question. We have in
• 11:54
Speaker 1: our notes that you met with Jeffrey Epstein ten times,
• 11:56
Speaker 1: at least ten times. What's the number that you what
• 11:59
Speaker 1: is the number of times that you believe that you
• 12:01
Speaker 1: met with Jeffrey Epstein, mister Gates. You know, I think
• 12:05
Speaker 1: it depends on whether you count skype calls or the
• 12:07
Speaker 1: one time he dropped by my office. You know, there
• 12:10
Speaker 1: was a dinner, a ted dinner that we both attended,
• 12:13
Speaker 1: but I didn't talk to him. You know, I think
• 12:15
Speaker 1: it's like twelve to fourteen times plus two skype calls
• 12:19
Speaker 1: in total over a four year period. Mister Krishna Morty, Okay,
• 12:24
Speaker 1: thank you very much. All right, folks, we're going to
• 12:26
Speaker 1: wrap up right here, and in the next episode, we're
• 12:28
Speaker 1: going to pick up where we left off. All the
• 12:30
Speaker 1: information that goes with this episode can be found in
• 12:33
Speaker 1: the description box. What's up, everyone, and welcome to another
• 12:37
Speaker 1: episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going
• 12:40
Speaker 1: to pick up where we left off with the Bill
• 12:42
Speaker 1: Gates testimony that he gave to Congress asking the questions
• 12:47
Speaker 1: now is miss Randall? Thank you, mister Gates. I'm Emily
• 12:50
Speaker 1: Randall from Washington sixth I appreciate you being here and
• 12:54
Speaker 1: answering our questions. And I want to follow up a
• 12:56
Speaker 1: little bit on a question that ranking Member Robert Garcia
• 13:00
Speaker 1: to begin with, about who the men were in Epstein's
• 13:03
Speaker 1: orbit that you may have seen or engage with at
• 13:06
Speaker 1: any of these meetings, and you said, you know that
• 13:09
Speaker 1: you didn't see anyone engaging any illegal or I listed activities,
• 13:12
Speaker 1: and you didn't want to cast dispersions of any of
• 13:15
Speaker 1: these men, which I understand, but I think some of
• 13:18
Speaker 1: what we've seen in our investigative work and in our
• 13:20
Speaker 1: conversations and in the files is that, you know, it
• 13:23
Speaker 1: became very easy for a lot of people to say
• 13:26
Speaker 1: that they didn't see anything, and that's part of how
• 13:28
Speaker 1: he continued to have such a long history of abuse.
• 13:32
Speaker 1: And so I just want to ask you if there
• 13:34
Speaker 1: are any other names or people that you haven't mentioned yet.
• 13:37
Speaker 1: You mentioned doctor Nikolch, Larry Summers, Jess Daley, Leon Black,
• 13:41
Speaker 1: Josh Harris, Mark Zuckerberg, Tom Pritzker. Were the other men
• 13:45
Speaker 1: that were involved, maybe not necessarily men that he was
• 13:48
Speaker 1: trying to introduce into the Global Health Network, but folks
• 13:52
Speaker 1: in any of these meetings that we should ask follow
• 13:54
Speaker 1: up questions on not saying that you're accusing them of
• 13:57
Speaker 1: anything but to make sure that we're uncovering every stone
• 14:00
Speaker 1: in this work to find transparency and justice Gates. Yeah,
• 14:04
Speaker 1: I believe that today I mentioned the name of every
• 14:07
Speaker 1: single individual who was in a meeting with myself and Epstein.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: And you know, beyond that, you know, all these emails
• 14:14
Speaker 1: released in January have other names in there. I don't
• 14:17
Speaker 1: bring any personal knowledge to that, but you know, I'm
• 14:19
Speaker 1: here to help in any way I can. I can't
• 14:21
Speaker 1: think of anyone whose name I haven't mentioned that I
• 14:24
Speaker 1: knew had some relationship with Epstein. Miss Randall, thank you.
• 14:29
Speaker 1: And you know, Miss Stansbury asked about the woman young
• 14:32
Speaker 1: women who worked for mister Epstein, and we've established that
• 14:35
Speaker 1: some of these women who were employed by him were
• 14:37
Speaker 1: also being trafficked and abused whether you know, though he
• 14:41
Speaker 1: may not have been your knowledge at the time, I understand,
• 14:44
Speaker 1: I do want to ask because of my conversation with
• 14:47
Speaker 1: some survivors who were under age when they were pulled
• 14:49
Speaker 1: into mister Epstein's world. They have relayed to us that
• 14:53
Speaker 1: no one ever mister Epstein knew how old they were.
• 14:56
Speaker 1: But you know, no one in the room at parties,
• 14:58
Speaker 1: at events, at meetings ever asked how old they were.
• 15:01
Speaker 1: They assumed they were adults because they looked like adults.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: A seventeen year old young woman, you know, is not
• 15:07
Speaker 1: always spottable as a seventeen year old young woman. Just
• 15:11
Speaker 1: thinking about any woman who were at any of these meetings,
• 15:14
Speaker 1: who were working at mister Epstein's home, who were engaged
• 15:17
Speaker 1: in any coordination, can you think of, you know, any
• 15:20
Speaker 1: young woman who we should talk to, mister Gates. No,
• 15:24
Speaker 1: The only thing I did with Epstein that was of
• 15:27
Speaker 1: casual entertainment nature was when he had David Blaine come
• 15:30
Speaker 1: over after we had a dinner meeting. And as I've said,
• 15:34
Speaker 1: as you've seen in the photographs, there were two of
• 15:36
Speaker 1: the women around Epstein who were standing around during the
• 15:39
Speaker 1: David Blaine performance. But you know, you've heard from everything
• 15:43
Speaker 1: I know about the women around Epstein, and I'm sorry
• 15:46
Speaker 1: to hear that some of them were victims. Randall, thank
• 15:49
Speaker 1: you so much for your answers and joining us, mister Gates.
• 15:54
Speaker 1: Next question by redacted question, mister Gates, did you ever
• 15:58
Speaker 1: meet Gallaine Maxwell? Answer her? One time I was at
• 16:01
Speaker 1: a hotel restaurant and she and Ted Waite were there,
• 16:04
Speaker 1: and that was the one time I was introduced to her.
• 16:07
Speaker 1: Question one was that answer? It's a good question. She
• 16:10
Speaker 1: clearly had left time with Epstein and was with Ted Waite.
• 16:14
Speaker 1: Ted Waite is someone I knew fairly well because he
• 16:16
Speaker 1: created a company called Gateway that was in personal computer business.
• 16:20
Speaker 1: But you know, it was just a few minutes introduction
• 16:22
Speaker 1: because we happened to be in the same place. But
• 16:24
Speaker 1: other than that, I never met her. Question and that
• 16:31
Speaker 1: was simply an introduction rather than a substantative conversation. Answer,
• 16:35
Speaker 1: not a substantative conversation. No question. And was this during
• 16:39
Speaker 1: the period of your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein or after? Answer? No,
• 16:44
Speaker 1: I think it was after, but we would have to
• 16:46
Speaker 1: dig out the date. Question. And did miss Maxwell ever
• 16:50
Speaker 1: come up in conversations with Jeffrey Epstein? Answer never question?
• 16:55
Speaker 1: Did she ever come up in conversations with Melanie Walker?
• 16:58
Speaker 1: Answer never? Question? Okay, mister Gates. A few minutes ago,
• 17:03
Speaker 1: in a response to mister Krishnil Morty's questions, you mentioned
• 17:07
Speaker 1: there were two skype calls. Is that right? Answer to question?
• 17:12
Speaker 1: Skype calls? Answer right question? And I think we discussed
• 17:16
Speaker 1: one earlier, which occurred on February twenty seventh, twenty fourteen.
• 17:19
Speaker 1: Is that right? Answer? Well, we inadvertently discussed it. Question sure, answer,
• 17:25
Speaker 1: because there was a question about February twenty seventh, twenty
• 17:28
Speaker 1: thirteen thing, and I accidentally saw February twenty seventh and said, oh,
• 17:33
Speaker 1: that meeting was a skype call. The February twenty seventh,
• 17:36
Speaker 1: twenty thirteen meeting is in person meeting in New York.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: And the February twenty seventh, twenty thirteen meeting is a
• 17:44
Speaker 1: skype call? Question understood? And when was the second skype call? Answer?
• 17:50
Speaker 1: The second Skype call is May twenty first, twenty fourteen.
• 17:55
Speaker 1: Question and what was the purpose of that call? Answer?
• 17:58
Speaker 1: You know, everything in this time is focusing on who
• 18:01
Speaker 1: are these donors? Is this going to be real? And
• 18:04
Speaker 1: so right after the second skype call is when he
• 18:06
Speaker 1: suggests the names of people that we would end up
• 18:09
Speaker 1: meeting in September, which is the second to last meeting
• 18:12
Speaker 1: I had with Epstein. Question and do you recall the
• 18:15
Speaker 1: exact discussions of that call with mister Epstein? Answer? I
• 18:19
Speaker 1: do not. Question was anyone else on that call? Answer?
• 18:22
Speaker 1: Larry Cohen may have come for some part of the call.
• 18:27
Speaker 1: They go off the record, they're back on Gates. Yeah,
• 18:30
Speaker 1: my note chho Larry as being on the first of
• 18:32
Speaker 1: the two Skype calls, but not on the second call. Question,
• 18:35
Speaker 1: not on the second one, And I have in my notes,
• 18:38
Speaker 1: and I could have this incorrect, but I believe you
• 18:41
Speaker 1: testified earlier that it was the first Skype call was
• 18:44
Speaker 1: just you and mister Epstein. That's not true. Answer. No,
• 18:47
Speaker 1: the first Skype call Larry Cohen is part of that.
• 18:51
Speaker 1: Question understood? And who was on the second Skype call? Answer?
• 18:54
Speaker 1: It looks like just myself in Epstein question, just you
• 18:58
Speaker 1: and Epstein? Okay, Why was this inducted over Skype? Answer?
• 19:02
Speaker 1: Because we weren't in the same physical location? Question Why
• 19:05
Speaker 1: the sky platform answer? Microsoft owned Skype? Question? Did you
• 19:09
Speaker 1: suggest Skype? Answer? I mean, I'm capable of using probably Severn,
• 19:14
Speaker 1: several different video calling platforms. I don't think there's any
• 19:17
Speaker 1: unique feature of Skype that caused it to be used.
• 19:20
Speaker 1: You know, Subsequently, I've shifted ninety percent of my use
• 19:23
Speaker 1: to teams and perhaps ten percent to Zoom, so this
• 19:27
Speaker 1: may have Indeed, the second meeting may have been my
• 19:30
Speaker 1: final Skype call. Question understood, And I guess the reason
• 19:34
Speaker 1: that I'm asking is because Jeffrey Epstein does have a
• 19:37
Speaker 1: demonstrated history of using Skype, and so my question to
• 19:40
Speaker 1: you is, did he recommend that this meeting be conducted
• 19:43
Speaker 1: on Skype? Answer? I don't know. Question Okay, mister adacted,
• 19:48
Speaker 1: we can go off record. Question, we can go back
• 19:51
Speaker 1: on record. Mister Gates. We briefly discussed your relationship or
• 19:54
Speaker 1: your one interaction that you recall with Glenn Maxwell during
• 19:58
Speaker 1: the last hour. Just to be clear, that's the only
• 20:01
Speaker 1: interaction with her that you recall. Answer, the only time
• 20:04
Speaker 1: I ever met her. Yeah. Question, she did tell the
• 20:07
Speaker 1: Department of Justice in an interview that she did with
• 20:11
Speaker 1: them last summer that she met you. It sounds like
• 20:13
Speaker 1: briefly at a TED conference. Do you have any recollection
• 20:16
Speaker 1: of that? Answer? Yeah, there was a TED dinner with
• 20:19
Speaker 1: about forty or fifty people, and she was an attendee there.
• 20:22
  Speaker 1: I don't know if I shook her hand, and I
• 20:23
Speaker 1: didn't have a conversation with her. Question, but do you
• 20:26
Speaker 1: recall that she was there? In general? Answer? I think
• 20:28
Speaker 1: she attended a dinner around the TED conference. Yes. Question,
• 20:32
Speaker 1: do you recall any other I'll call them interactions, but
• 20:35
Speaker 1: any other times you were in the same place as
• 20:37
Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell, other than the meeting with Ted Waite, the
• 20:41
Speaker 1: brief meeting with Ted Waite, and this very brief meeting
• 20:44
Speaker 1: at a dinner at a Ted conference. Answer, as I
• 20:48
Speaker 1: say on the Ted thing, I don't know that I
• 20:50
Speaker 1: shook her hand. I'm not sure, but I didn't have
• 20:53
Speaker 1: a conversation with her other than those two times. No,
• 20:55
Speaker 1: I never met her. Mister Emer's asking questions. Now, mister Gates,
• 21:01
Speaker 1: we're at a point in our questioning where, unfortunately I
• 21:04
Speaker 1: do have to make you repeat yourself just to make
• 21:06
Speaker 1: sure that the record is crystal clear. During the first hour,
• 21:09
Speaker 1: I believe you had mentioned that at some point you
• 21:11
Speaker 1: were invited to mister Epstein's island. Is that right answer? Yes,
• 21:15
Speaker 1: several times he had issued an invitation. Question and approximately
• 21:19
Speaker 1: when you extended those invites answer, we can dig through
• 21:23
Speaker 1: the emails. I don't know the timing question, and he
• 21:26
Speaker 1: himself directly invited you, Is that right answer, that's right question,
• 21:30
Speaker 1: and you rejected those invites. Answer, that's correct question? Right?
• 21:35
Speaker 1: And as far as his other properties go, you've testified
• 21:38
Speaker 1: numerous times to have had dinners at his Manhattan townhouse.
• 21:41
Speaker 1: Is that right answer? That's right question? Have you ever
• 21:45
Speaker 1: visited his Paris apartment? Answer? Yeah, I talked about that
• 21:48
Speaker 1: one meeting I had there. Question what about Zoro Ranch
• 21:52
Speaker 1: in New Mexico? Answer never went there. Question how about
• 21:55
Speaker 1: the Pombeach home? Answer never went there. Question any other
• 21:59
Speaker 1: properties owned by mister Epstein? Answer no, it was, as
• 22:04
Speaker 1: you said, several meetings at his New York residence and
• 22:06
Speaker 1: the one meeting in Paris, and then the one time
• 22:09
Speaker 1: we flew together on a plane from New York to
• 22:11
Speaker 1: Pond Beach. Question, so let's talk briefly about the Manhattan
• 22:14
Speaker 1: town helm. Did you notice anything unusual during your visits there? Answer? Well,
• 22:20
Speaker 1: I never went above the first floor. You know, there's
• 22:22
Speaker 1: kind of a fancy door, and then you go up
• 22:24
Speaker 1: some stairs and to the left is a room where
• 22:27
Speaker 1: we had dinner and most of the meetings, and then
• 22:29
Speaker 1: to the right is a large area I think he
• 22:31
Speaker 1: called his office area, and then there's a bathroom on
• 22:34
Speaker 1: that floor. And that's what I remember about the residence.
• 22:38
Speaker 1: Question and there's been allegations that Epstein had cameras that
• 22:42
Speaker 1: he would use to blackmail visitors. Did you notice any
• 22:45
Speaker 1: cameras when you visited? Answer? I did not. Question during
• 22:49
Speaker 1: the committee's review of documents produced by the estate, as
• 22:52
Speaker 1: well as photos that had been released as part of
• 22:54
Speaker 1: the Epstein Files Transparency Act. This is my own characterization,
• 22:59
Speaker 1: but it seems that mister Epstein had an unusual creepy
• 23:02
Speaker 1: taste in artwork. Did you notice any unusual weird artwork
• 23:06
Speaker 1: when you visited the home? Answer? I know there was
• 23:09
Speaker 1: one thing he had that was a bit strange. Was
• 23:11
Speaker 1: it like Bill Clinton? An address? That was one thing
• 23:15
Speaker 1: that it was Bill Clinton in address I think, which
• 23:17
Speaker 1: I think fits your description. Question did you ask him
• 23:21
Speaker 1: about that specific portrait? Answer? I did not. Question And
• 23:24
Speaker 1: to be clear, did you notice any nude photos displayed
• 23:27
Speaker 1: at his property? Answer? No, I mean the only two
• 23:30
Speaker 1: properties I ever saw were New York and the Paris one,
• 23:33
Speaker 1: and I didn't see any nude photos in either location.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: Question and back to the photo of Bill Clinton. Where
• 23:39
Speaker 1: was that? Answer? I don't think it was a photo honestly.
• 23:42
Speaker 1: Question or the painting excuse me? Answer yeah, the artwork
• 23:45
Speaker 1: that was on the wall inside his office. Question. Now,
• 23:50
Speaker 1: you mentioned that you visited the property in Paris as well.
• 23:52
Speaker 1: Did you notice anything unusual when you visited the property? Answer?
• 23:56
Speaker 1: I did not. Question a couple of weeks ago, the
• 24:00
Speaker 1: committee interviewed Sarah Kellen, a survivor, and she said and
• 24:04
Speaker 1: mentioned that mister Epstein had a painting or a photo
• 24:06
Speaker 1: or a naked photo of her displayed at the property.
• 24:09
Speaker 1: You didn't see a photo of miss Kellen? Is that right? Answer? No,
• 24:13
Speaker 1: you know, I don't know the extent of that property.
• 24:15
Speaker 1: We went into this room or we sat in the
• 24:17
Speaker 1: excess food was brought to us there, but we didn't
• 24:20
Speaker 1: go to other rooms. All right, folks, we're gonna wrap
• 24:23
Speaker 1: up right here, and in the next episode, we're gonna
• 24:26
Speaker 1: pick up where we left off. All the information that
• 24:30
Speaker 1: goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 24:36
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're gonna pick up where
• 24:40
Speaker 1: we left off with the Bill Gates transcript with Congress
• 24:45
Speaker 1: question by mister Spector. Now question, Thank you, mister Gates.
• 24:50
Speaker 1: You already testified in the last hour you gave no
• 24:52
Speaker 1: financial payments. You had no financial arrangement or payments with
• 24:56
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. Is that right answered? That is right? Question?
• 25:01
Speaker 1: Just want to clarify a little bit using a document,
• 25:03
Speaker 1: so I'll enter as majority. Exhibit five A contract from
• 25:07
Speaker 1: the Epstein owned entity Southern Trust Company, Incorporated, dated May
• 25:11
Speaker 1: twenty eighth, twenty thirteen. This is from the DOJ's release.
• 25:15
Speaker 1: It's mark with bates number EFTA zero one one one
• 25:19
Speaker 1: one nine six one. I'll give you a moment to
• 25:22
Speaker 1: look at it. It seems to be a contract of
• 25:25
Speaker 1: some kind for consulting services. Answer between who and who?
• 25:30
Speaker 1: Question If you direct your attention to the second block
• 25:33
Speaker 1: of texts, the second or third line up from the bottom.
• 25:35
Speaker 1: It says Bill Gates and affiliated trusts, partnerships, limited partnerships,
• 25:40
Speaker 1: and limited liability companies of and any other entities affiliated
• 25:45
Speaker 1: with mister Gates. And then it says collectively clients because
• 25:49
Speaker 1: the list of collection of clients. Do you have any
• 25:52
Speaker 1: knowledge about whether you were a client of any of
• 25:54
Speaker 1: those Southern Trust Company? Answer? I was not question have
• 25:58
Speaker 1: you ever heard of the Southern Trust Company? Answer? I
• 26:01
Speaker 1: believe this document was shown to me as part of
• 26:03
Speaker 1: the Epstein files as one of the documents that my
• 26:06
Speaker 1: name came up in a dishonest and misleading way. Question,
• 26:10
Speaker 1: So that's your characterization, is that this is a dishonest
• 26:14
Speaker 1: and misleading you know mentioned of you as a client.
• 26:18
Speaker 1: Answer That might be a little strong because it doesn't
• 26:20
Speaker 1: actually say I was a client, but it suggests that
• 26:22
Speaker 1: I might be one of the clients. And I was
• 26:25
Speaker 1: never a client in any way of mister Epstein or
• 26:28
Speaker 1: any of his entities, including this thing that I don't
• 26:31
Speaker 1: know much about called Southern Trust Company. Question. Thank you,
• 26:35
Speaker 1: mister Moran, asking questions again, Sorry, just for my record,
• 26:39
Speaker 1: that was Mark five, mister Grant. Answer is yes, sir.
• 26:43
Speaker 1: Now Emmer's back and prior to reviewing this document, had
• 26:46
Speaker 1: you ever come to learn during the course of knowing
• 26:49
Speaker 1: mister Epstein that he was representing himself to you as
• 26:51
Speaker 1: a client, Gates, I didn't know that he would represent that,
• 26:55
Speaker 1: and it would have been a falsehood, Emmer, Thank you Grant.
• 27:00
Speaker 1: Asking questions again, mister Gates. It seems, through the course
• 27:03
Speaker 1: of reviewing the documents and as part of this interview
• 27:06
Speaker 1: with you here today, that there were more than a
• 27:09
Speaker 1: few people either associated with yourself and some of your
• 27:12
Speaker 1: ventures or Microsoft generally, that had a relationship with mister
• 27:16
Speaker 1: Epstein at the time. Were you aware of all these
• 27:19
Speaker 1: associates of yours having relationships with some kind with mister Epstein. Answer, well,
• 27:25
Speaker 1: I'll mention the three and then you can tell me
• 27:27
Speaker 1: if there's more than that. I thought mister Nikolich had
• 27:30
Speaker 1: a very limited relationship with mister Epstein in terms of
• 27:33
Speaker 1: facilitating meetings that I had with him. You know, the
• 27:36
Speaker 1: email show a more extensive relationship. I thought that doctor
• 27:39
Speaker 1: Walker knew Epstein. He mentioned her to me one time
• 27:43
Speaker 1: in our first dinner meeting, and then she sent me
• 27:45
Speaker 1: an email asking about the meeting. Subsequently, I don't think
• 27:49
Speaker 1: we communicated about Epstein, although apparently there's some possibility of
• 27:53
Speaker 1: an August twenty fourteen email and that maybe that's an exception.
• 27:57
Speaker 1: I'll have to track that down. So the extent of
• 27:59
Speaker 1: her relationship with mister Epstein, I don't know. I think
• 28:03
Speaker 1: another name that came up with Steven Sinofsky, and I
• 28:06
Speaker 1: did not know of him having any relationship with mister Epstein.
• 28:10
Speaker 1: Question and what about mister Mirvold. I know he was
• 28:13
Speaker 1: brought up at some point an earlier hour here today.
• 28:16
Speaker 1: Question No, I never discussed mister Epstein with mister Meervold.
• 28:20
Speaker 1: Question and you had no awareness of them having any
• 28:23
Speaker 1: type of relationship at all at the time? Answer? I
• 28:27
Speaker 1: know when Epstein files came out there was some things
• 28:29
Speaker 1: related to mister Meervold having some relationship with mister Epstein.
• 28:33
Speaker 1: But before that, I had a vague awareness of some
• 28:36
Speaker 1: of the connection, and I don't know where that came from,
• 28:39
Speaker 1: but we never discussed it. Question and what about mister
• 28:42
Speaker 1: Reid Hoffman were you aware of him having a relationship
• 28:45
Speaker 1: with mister Epstein. Answer? I did know that through some
• 28:49
Speaker 1: MIT connection, but I'm not sure that mister Hoffman had
• 28:52
Speaker 1: met mister Epstein. But I was never other than Actually,
• 28:56
Speaker 1: there is a December breakfast, the final meeting with Epstein,
• 29:00
Speaker 1: where I'm presenting a group of people about philanthropy and
• 29:02
Speaker 1: global health. Mister Hoffman attended that, and so did mister Epstein.
• 29:06
Speaker 1: So that's one case where mister Hoffman and mister Epstein
• 29:09
Speaker 1: and I were all together in the same place. Question
• 29:13
Speaker 1: and did you ever discuss mister Epstein with mister Hoffman
• 29:16
Speaker 1: other than this one meeting you just mentioned? Answer? It
• 29:19
Speaker 1: might have come up. You know that I talked to
• 29:21
Speaker 1: mister Hoffman about a lot of things, but the fact
• 29:24
Speaker 1: that he was kind of an unknown but a person
• 29:26
Speaker 1: with a bad reputation that may have come up in
• 29:29
Speaker 1: my conversation with mister Hoffman. Question and mister Cohen, I'll
• 29:34
Speaker 1: call it a relationship with mister Epstein. Is that due
• 29:37
Speaker 1: to his own accord or is that because of his
• 29:39
Speaker 1: close proximity to you? Answer? I wouldn't call it a relationship.
• 29:43
Speaker 1: I mean, on my behalf, if you was involved, particularly
• 29:46
Speaker 1: in the doctor Nikolic exit discussions, but I wouldn't call
• 29:49
Speaker 1: that a relationship. Question fair enough, And did mister Epstein
• 29:53
Speaker 1: ever ask you to hire someone to either Microsoft or
• 29:56
Speaker 1: any of your other ventures? Answer never. Question Are you
• 30:00
Speaker 1: aware of anyone at Microsoft or any of your other
• 30:03
Speaker 1: ventures giving any type of inside investment information? Answer no. Question.
• 30:08
Speaker 1: Did mister Epstein ever ask you for any type of
• 30:11
Speaker 1: inside investment information to your companies or adventures? Answer no. Question.
• 30:16
Speaker 1: Did you ever discuss any stocks or trades or anything
• 30:19
Speaker 1: related to financial markets with mister Epstein? Answer no. Well,
• 30:24
Speaker 1: let me amend that. I mean the general idea of
• 30:27
Speaker 1: where markets going up or going down that came up
• 30:30
Speaker 1: in some discussions, but not any specific company that was
• 30:33
Speaker 1: going to happen with its stock questions, So mister Epstein
• 30:37
Speaker 1: wouldn't have a conversation with you then about a particular company,
• 30:40
Speaker 1: say Tesla, And say you should short this stock or
• 30:43
Speaker 1: buy this stock? Answer no, Specter, just one quick question
• 30:47
Speaker 1: for the last couple of sections here. Did any law
• 30:50
Speaker 1: enforcement entity of any kind ever approach you or ask
• 30:53
Speaker 1: for information about Epstein or Glenn Maxwell? Answer? Yeah, I
• 30:56
Speaker 1: think my lawyers can probably do a better job on
• 30:58
Speaker 1: this than I can. But I think the US Virgin
• 31:00
Speaker 1: Islands conducted a voluntary interview with me, miss Claire. Yeah,
• 31:04
Speaker 1: if I could just clarify, the Attorney General of the
• 31:07
Speaker 1: US Virgin Islands made an informal request to mister Gates
• 31:10
Speaker 1: to cooperate with its investigation, very much like he did here.
• 31:14
Speaker 1: Mister Gates cooperated voluntarily. We turned over some documents to
• 31:18
Speaker 1: the Attorney General, and mister Gates sat for a voluntary
• 31:22
Speaker 1: proffer with the representatives of the US Virgin Islands. Specter.
• 31:26
Speaker 1: What sort of documents to the Virgin Islands, request Claire?
• 31:29
Speaker 1: They from recollection. They related mostly to financial documents. It
• 31:33
Speaker 1: was in connection with, you know, tax questions primarily, and
• 31:37
Speaker 1: it related to J. P. Morgan Chase and some banking issues,
• 31:40
Speaker 1: So it was primarily focused on that, mister Grant, And
• 31:45
Speaker 1: just so the record's clear, no one from the Southern
• 31:48
Speaker 1: District of New York ever reached out to you during
• 31:50
Speaker 1: Epstein's troubles when he was arrested subsequently in twenty nineteen,
• 31:55
Speaker 1: answer no question, and the same question for miss Maxwell
• 31:59
Speaker 1: during her arrest twenty twenty one, answer no question. Thank you,
• 32:03
Speaker 1: specter asking questions again, mister Gates. We do sort of
• 32:07
Speaker 1: a format in some of our interviews. I'm going to
• 32:10
Speaker 1: read you a long list of names. The question is
• 32:12
Speaker 1: the same for each person. Answer okay, question, It's simply
• 32:16
Speaker 1: have you ever communicated with that person? Regarding Jeffrey Epstein
• 32:20
Speaker 1: or Glenn Maxwell? And there may be some repetition. I'll
• 32:23
Speaker 1: try to cut out the ones that we've already talked
• 32:25
Speaker 1: about for the most part. So for the first one,
• 32:27
Speaker 1: Richard Kahn answer no, never communicated with them question. Darren
• 32:32
Speaker 1: Endyke answer no question. Leslie Groff answer, I don't believe so.
• 32:37
Speaker 1: I mean, she might have been on some of the
• 32:39
Speaker 1: email chain, but I don't think I communicated with her. Question.
• 32:42
Speaker 1: Sarah Kellen answer again, she might have been on the chain,
• 32:46
Speaker 1: but I never communicated with her. Or I don't know.
• 32:48
Speaker 1: Maybe she's one of the women I wasn't introduced to
• 32:50
Speaker 1: in the photos. I'm not sure question. When you say
• 32:53
Speaker 1: that miss Groff and Miss Kellen may have been on
• 32:55
Speaker 1: the email chain, do you mean an email chain along
• 32:58
Speaker 1: with mister Epstein. Answer yes. Question next person Doug Band
• 33:02
Speaker 1: answer no question. Larry Summers answer yes, as I've discussed
• 33:06
Speaker 1: Doctor Summers came to a dinner, which is the second
• 33:09
Speaker 1: time I met Epstein and other than that, no question.
• 33:12
Speaker 1: Have you ever discussed Jeffrey Epstein's crimes allegations against Jeffrey
• 33:17
Speaker 1: Epstein with Larry Summers answer no question. Noam Chomsky answer no,
• 33:22
Speaker 1: I never met Noam Chomsky. I know it's worked very well.
• 33:25
Speaker 1: I think he's fairly old now, but I never met
• 33:27
Speaker 1: him or talk to him. Question redacted. I don't recognize
• 33:31
Speaker 1: that name, so no question. Alan Dershowitz answer no question.
• 33:35
Speaker 1: George Mitchell answer no question. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor formerly Prince
• 33:41
Speaker 1: Andrew answer yeah, I never nothing connected to Epstein. I
• 33:45
Speaker 1: encountered him two times and official visits in the UK
• 33:48
Speaker 1: where he was serving as something like the trade representative.
• 33:51
Speaker 1: Question but never about Epstein? Answer never about Epstein? Question okay,
• 33:56
Speaker 1: answer weirdly in the set of photos that I guess
• 33:58
Speaker 1: Epstein kept a photo of me and Prince Andrew at
• 34:01
Speaker 1: one of those official state meetings, but nothing in connection
• 34:05
Speaker 1: with Epstein, even though Epstein seemed to have that picture
• 34:08
Speaker 1: and it shows up in the Epstein files. Question that's right.
• 34:12
Speaker 1: Do you recall if Jeffrey Epstein was also in attendance
• 34:14
Speaker 1: at that state dinner? Answer never, question he definitely wasn't
• 34:18
Speaker 1: in attendance there. Answer no, I never saw him in
• 34:20
Speaker 1: the UK and those were both meetings in the UK.
• 34:24
Speaker 1: Question thank you, Peter Mandelsson answer no question. Corinia Shuliac answer,
• 34:30
Speaker 1: I don't know. Is that one of his assistants. Question
• 34:34
Speaker 1: she's reported to have dated mister Epstein. Just if you
• 34:37
Speaker 1: recall having a conversation with these people about Jeffrey Epstein
• 34:40
Speaker 1: or Ghlainne Maxwell answer? The only time I recall a
• 34:43
Speaker 1: meeting was earlier today. Someone sitting on that side of
• 34:46
Speaker 1: the table said that a person that I couldn't identify
• 34:49
Speaker 1: in a photo had that name. Question but you don't
• 34:51
Speaker 1: recall any specifics of any conversation with her if you
• 34:54
Speaker 1: had one? Answer no, apparently though I was photographed with her.
• 34:58
Speaker 1: I think somebody represented that here today. Question thank you,
• 35:02
Speaker 1: Edward Brock answer no question. Paul Morris answer yeah, I
• 35:06
Speaker 1: don't recognize that name. Question. Sultan Achmed Binsuliam answer no question.
• 35:12
Speaker 1: Leslie Wexner answer no question. Harvey Weinstein answer no question.
• 35:17
Speaker 1: Any member of the Rothschild family answer no. It's a
• 35:20
Speaker 1: lot of people, but still no question. There are several
• 35:23
Speaker 1: names I can read if you would like, answer no, no,
• 35:26
Speaker 1: please question. Casey Wasserman answer no question. Stacey Plaskett answer,
• 35:31
Speaker 1: I don't know who that is. Question. Howard Lutnik answer no,
• 35:34
Speaker 1: Steve Bannon answer no. Elon Musk answer no. Abigail Johnson
• 35:39
Speaker 1: answer no. Jeff Bezos answer no. Larry Page answer nope,
• 35:44
Speaker 1: Sergey Brynn answer no question. President Bill Clinton answer no,
• 35:48
Speaker 1: Secretary Hillary Clinton, no question. I don't think I said.
• 35:53
Speaker 1: Other than the one meeting where Ted Waite was Glenn Maxwell,
• 35:56
Speaker 1: have you ever discussed Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell with
• 35:59
Speaker 1: Ted Waite? Answer no, mister Gates, just a couple of
• 36:03
Speaker 1: final questions for you, so your relationship. Can you remind
• 36:06
Speaker 1: us for the record when your relationship with mister Epstein, formally,
• 36:10
Speaker 1: when you cut off ties with mister Epstein other than
• 36:13
Speaker 1: his couple of reachouts. Answer after the December meeting in
• 36:16
Speaker 1: twenty fourteen question, and during the last hour you discussed
• 36:21
Speaker 1: a little bit about the final few meetings or discussions
• 36:25
Speaker 1: with regard to the donor advised funds with mister Epstein
• 36:28
Speaker 1: that was in twenty fourteen. Is that right answer? That's
• 36:31
Speaker 1: right question. And I'm just trying to understand after the
• 36:35
Speaker 1: summer of twenty thirteen and all of the various emails
• 36:38
Speaker 1: we discussed again acknowledging some of them, you didn't know
• 36:42
Speaker 1: about it at the time, But regardless the interactions you
• 36:44
Speaker 1: had with mister Epstein where he was making veiled threats
• 36:47
Speaker 1: about personal issues, including your affairs, why did you continue
• 36:51
Speaker 1: to engage with mister Epstein about philanthropy going into twenty fourteen? Answer? Well,
• 36:57
Speaker 1: you know, the doctor Nikolach exit, you know, ended up
• 36:59
Speaker 1: exactly as it started, with something that I felt was fair,
• 37:02
Speaker 1: and Doctor Nikolch ended up deciding was fair. And so
• 37:05
Speaker 1: that was kind of a weird thing, and I admit
• 37:07
Speaker 1: it should have added to the many negative things about
• 37:10
Speaker 1: mister Epstein. And then in the fall, I have the
• 37:13
Speaker 1: dinner where my ex took her already somewhat negative view
• 37:16
Speaker 1: of mister Epstein and felt that she had met him
• 37:19
Speaker 1: in person that one time she had an even more
• 37:21
Speaker 1: negative view of him. You know, there was a lot
• 37:23
Speaker 1: of things saying that you know the risk of even
• 37:26
Speaker 1: in this very limited role, which was referring me to
• 37:29
Speaker 1: people not being paid, not playing any role, that I
• 37:32
Speaker 1: should have had better judgment to cut it off. And
• 37:35
Speaker 1: I would say that I was a bit stubborn in thinking, hey,
• 37:38
Speaker 1: was this completely a dead end? And so I continued
• 37:41
Speaker 1: through twenty fourteen to try to get meetings with actual donors,
• 37:45
Speaker 1: and then in September I got that then there's one
• 37:48
Speaker 1: more breakfast where I presented philanthropic opportunities and only then
• 37:52
Speaker 1: did I completely abandon any connection with them. Question and
• 37:56
Speaker 1: did you formally tell him at this point that you
• 37:58
Speaker 1: didn't wish to see or speak to him anymore? Answer?
• 38:01
Speaker 1: I think my final email to him says, hey, the
• 38:04
Speaker 1: raising money isn't going to work. And so, because that
• 38:06
Speaker 1: was clearly the thing I had focused time on, that
• 38:09
Speaker 1: was clearly the end of the relationship. He continued to
• 38:12
Speaker 1: email me, and so through Larry Cohen, not in an email,
• 38:15
Speaker 1: because I sent the final one email and that was it.
• 38:18
Speaker 1: But mister Cohen made it clear to mister Abstein that
• 38:21
Speaker 1: I had severed the relationship completely and that I wouldn't
• 38:24
Speaker 1: be seeing me or hearing from me. Question and one
• 38:27
Speaker 1: final question for you. When we were discussing earlier about
• 38:31
Speaker 1: the two initial extramarital affairs and then we talked about
• 38:34
Speaker 1: a third one, one of the reasons you gave for
• 38:36
Speaker 1: those being the only ones that are relevant to the
• 38:39
Speaker 1: committee's inquiry was being because mister Abstein had anything else
• 38:43
Speaker 1: bad to say about you, any other damaging information about you,
• 38:47
Speaker 1: than he would have written it elsewhere in the emails.
• 38:49
Speaker 1: Is that a fair characterization of what you said? Answer? Yeah,
• 38:53
Speaker 1: he managed to put it in some true embarrassing things,
• 38:56
Speaker 1: specifically the affairs, and then he managed to put in
• 38:59
Speaker 1: a lot of false things. And so I think if
• 39:01
Speaker 1: he had known anything negative about me, it would have
• 39:03
Speaker 1: shown up in those. But that's all speculation based on
• 39:06
Speaker 1: what I've seen in January of this year. You know,
• 39:09
Speaker 1: the foolishness of my spending time with them is about
• 39:12
Speaker 1: one hundred times higher after I seen the January emails. Question. Okay,
• 39:16
Speaker 1: thank you, Chairman Comber. Mister Gates on behalf of the
• 39:19
Speaker 1: Oversight Committee and the entire Congress, I want to thank
• 39:22
Speaker 1: you for coming in today. Voluntarily. Thank you for answering
• 39:25
Speaker 1: our questions. And I have to conclude by thanking you
• 39:28
Speaker 1: for your philanthropy and all the great charitable work that
• 39:31
Speaker 1: you've done and will hopefully continue to do. So. Thank
• 39:35
Speaker 1: you Gates. Know that will be the focus of the
• 39:38
Speaker 1: rest of my life. And I don't know if anything
• 39:40
Speaker 1: I did today is helpful in your request, but I
• 39:42
Speaker 1: hope you can find justice for the victims. Chairman Comber,
• 39:46
Speaker 1: thank you, Specter, thank you, sir. We can go off
• 39:49
Speaker 1: the record, all right, folks. There it is the transcript
• 39:54
Speaker 1: from Bill Gates and his interview with Congress. The next
• 39:58
Speaker 1: one we're going to move into is Leslie Groff. All
• 40:02
Speaker 1: the information that goes with this episode can be found
• 40:05
