- 0:00Speaker 1: He's the Mark Samungs Show on seven to ten, wor.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Well, Hey, we got a lot to talk about this
- 0:11Speaker 2: our New Jersey. Hew, do you get rid of Phil Murphy?
- 0:15Speaker 2: How do we get rid of Phil Murphy? We have
- 0:17Speaker 2: to call it an exterminator and extra system. This guy
- 0:20Speaker 2: just doesn't leave. He's term limited out, but here he is.
- 0:24Speaker 2: He's all over the place talking about this and that.
- 0:26Speaker 2: He's on some aipprom this program that's go away. He
- 0:31Speaker 2: was governor for eight years, got absolutely nothing accomplished. At
- 0:34Speaker 2: the end of his eight years, it's still the ridiculously
- 0:37Speaker 2: high taxes. Things are still out of control in New Jersey.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Nothing got fixed. The budget is totally out of control,
- 0:43Speaker 2: and here he is sounding off.
- 0:44Speaker 3: You wake up in the second Trump administration trying to
- 0:48Speaker 3: balance two opposite realities. Number one, always standing up for
- 0:55Speaker 3: our values, our communities under attack. On the other hand,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you're trying like heck not to start World War three
- 1:01Speaker 3: with these guys in Washington.
- 1:04Speaker 2: What a blowheart? Standing up for your values? What are
- 1:07Speaker 2: your values? Ridiculously high taxes, unbelievably high property tax, a
- 1:12Speaker 2: budget that's quadruple what it should be, wasting money, bloat, fraud,
- 1:17Speaker 2: that your values are fighting for the guy will not
- 1:19Speaker 2: go away? Doesn't he have a big gavilla in Italy?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Go there, leave us alone for a while. Hey, it's
- 1:26Speaker 2: a three day weekend. Monday is Martin Luther King Day.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I think Curtis will be here filling in for me. Yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 2: on Monday, Martin Luther King Day. That'll be great. Hey,
- 1:36Speaker 2: the movie Marty Supreme. It's a great movie. It's doing very,
- 1:41Speaker 2: very well. I think it's up to about ninety million
- 1:44Speaker 2: at the box office already. A phenomenal movie. If you
- 1:48Speaker 2: haven't seen it, go see Marty Supreme. You love it. Now.
- 1:51Speaker 2: There was a real Marty Supreme And if you check
- 1:54Speaker 2: out my Instagram today, there's a picture of me with him.
- 1:56Speaker 2: We were good friends back in the nineties. The real
- 2:00Speaker 2: Marty Supreme was a guy named Marty Reisman, and he
- 2:03Speaker 2: was the world champion ping pong player, champion of the
- 2:06Speaker 2: world in the fifties and sixties and now when I
- 2:09Speaker 2: knew it was later in the nineties, but he was
- 2:11Speaker 2: retired from all that, but he was still he ran
- 2:13Speaker 2: like a little ping pong center and he would go
- 2:16Speaker 2: around doing exhibitions and if you go on YouTube you
- 2:19Speaker 2: can find a couple of David Letterman appearances where he'd
- 2:22Speaker 2: do some ping pong tricks. Now in real life he
- 2:24Speaker 2: was not. I mean, in the movie there's gangsters and
- 2:27Speaker 2: gunshots and car chases, and I don't think a lot
- 2:29Speaker 2: took place in real life. But Marty supreme, phenomenal movie.
- 2:33Speaker 2: If you want to see what the real guy look like,
- 2:36Speaker 2: check it out. I got a picture of me and
- 2:37Speaker 2: him on my Instagram. Mark Simone NYC at Instagram. And
- 2:43Speaker 2: what is this big Instagram trend going on right now
- 2:45Speaker 2: twenty sixteen with the hashtag everybody it's Facebook too, You're
- 2:48Speaker 2: supposed to put up pictures of you pictures from twenty sixteen.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I have no idea. I don't know where it came.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Why just because it's ten years ago. Was there something
- 2:59Speaker 2: special about twenty sixteen? No, actually there was. That was
- 3:01Speaker 2: the year Donald Trump won the presidency. But I think
- 3:07Speaker 2: it's just like the new throwback Thursday, which is long gone,
- 3:10Speaker 2: but this is like the new version. So hey, Sean
- 3:13Speaker 2: Hannity last night, Great Show. He had ro Kanna on
- 3:18Speaker 2: who a lot of people think has a shot at
- 3:20Speaker 2: twenty twenty eight being the Democratic nominee. But it didn't
- 3:23Speaker 2: go well for Roe Kanna, because there he was yelling
- 3:27Speaker 2: and screaming, renee Good, renee good, renee Good, renee Good.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And then Sean said, well, wait a minute. You know
- 3:33Speaker 2: you've had so many American citizens killed by illegals? Can
- 3:36Speaker 2: you name one of them? Do you know their names?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Can you name us? And he couldn't. It looked quite
- 3:41Speaker 2: flustered by the question, and it was more of those
- 3:44Speaker 2: sorts of questions and the guy looked totally unprepared. It
- 3:48Speaker 2: was not a great moment, but there were people thinking
- 3:50Speaker 2: to him as the twenty twenty eight guy, not so
- 3:52Speaker 2: much after last night. Gavin Newsom, if you think he's
- 3:57Speaker 2: the leader in twenty twenty eight, he's upset a lot
- 3:59Speaker 2: of Democrats. Now he does this ridiculous podcast. You know,
- 4:03Speaker 2: you're the governor of California. You're supposed to be busy,
- 4:06Speaker 2: not supposed to have time to do a podcast. And
- 4:09Speaker 2: he invites conservatives on, which is good. That's good, give
- 4:14Speaker 2: him credit. He has a conservatives on on people from
- 4:17Speaker 2: all points of view. But it was Ben Shapiro, who's
- 4:21Speaker 2: a very smart guy. Shapiro's got like an IQ like
- 4:23Speaker 2: one ninety, and they start talking about trans and Shapiro
- 4:28Speaker 2: starts to get into you know, a man can't actually
- 4:31Speaker 2: be a woman. He can identify, so a man can't
- 4:34Speaker 2: actually be a woman. And then he starts confronting Newsome,
- 4:37Speaker 2: would you agree with? And then Newsom upset a lot
- 4:42Speaker 2: of Democrats because he just dodged the question. He just
- 4:44Speaker 2: danced around it and would not answer the question, which
- 4:48Speaker 2: if you want to win a Democratic primary, isn't right
- 4:51Speaker 2: you go to You can't be that much of a
- 4:56Speaker 2: you know, a diplomat. Democrats don't like that you just
- 4:59Speaker 2: avoided and duck the question. Shapiro kept trying to pin
- 5:02Speaker 2: him down, knew him afraid to take a side on it,
- 5:05Speaker 2: upsetting a lot of Democrats. You know, the problem is
- 5:10Speaker 2: with Democrats, and Shapiro got into this. You know, it's
- 5:14Speaker 2: simply scientific. You're either born a man or a woman.
- 5:18Speaker 2: If you're born a man, you can't decide you're a woman.
- 5:20Speaker 2: That it goes against science. And the problem with Newsom
- 5:24Speaker 2: is he couldn't He didn't want to respond, But wasn't
- 5:28Speaker 2: it The Democrats were always yelling at you to you
- 5:30Speaker 2: have to believe the science. When it comes to climate change,
- 5:33Speaker 2: you're not allowed to argue with the science. The science
- 5:36Speaker 2: is something you cannot deny. Well, here they are denying
- 5:39Speaker 2: it when it comes to whether you're a man or
- 5:40Speaker 2: a woman. Hey, speaking of climate change, apparently it's over.
- 5:45Speaker 2: There's no more climate change. Apparently it is over. People
- 5:49Speaker 2: think that that's been shown now because Kamala Harris, as you,
- 5:54Speaker 2: as we mentioned the other day, just purchased an eight
- 5:56Speaker 2: million dollar mansion in Malibu right on the Pacific Ocean,
- 6:01Speaker 2: right on the water. It's like two inches from the water,
- 6:04Speaker 2: right on the beach. So people take that as a
- 6:07Speaker 2: sign there because she was the one yelling and screaming
- 6:09Speaker 2: about climate change or the sea level is gonna rise,
- 6:12Speaker 2: the beaches will be eroded. So the fact that she
- 6:16Speaker 2: spent and for her, that's a lot of money. Eight million.
- 6:20Speaker 2: You know, if it's Bill Gates, you could find that
- 6:22Speaker 2: much eight You can find eight million under his sofa cushion.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But for her, it's an enormous part of her savings.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So if she spent that on a house literally right
- 6:33Speaker 2: on the ocean, apparently climate change is over. You don't
- 6:36Speaker 2: have to worry about it anymore. So that's wonderful news. Hey, Mom, Donnie,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you know, text back and forth with Donald Trump. So
- 6:44Speaker 2: this is a it's good. It's good that they keep
- 6:48Speaker 2: in touch. It's good that he has this relationship with
- 6:52Speaker 2: Trump because Trump knows how to play these guys. He'll
- 6:55Speaker 2: kind of woo this guy a little, you know, Mam Donnie,
- 6:59Speaker 2: He'll express himself, but h Trump, Trump knows how to
- 7:02Speaker 2: uh hang on. Trump knows how to eventually win these
- 7:09Speaker 2: guys over to a certain extent. So a reporter confronts
- 7:13Speaker 2: mont Donnie at texting Trump. It's been reported, I believe
- 7:15Speaker 2: by axious to give credit where credit is due, that
- 7:17Speaker 2: you have been texting with President Trump. I'm wondering if
- 7:20Speaker 2: you can confirm that. And then more broadly, this is
- 7:23Speaker 2: that moment where New Yorkers are looking at you and saying,
- 7:26Speaker 2: mister mayor, what can you do relative to the relationship
- 7:29Speaker 2: with President Trump to alleviate some of these concerns? So
- 7:32Speaker 2: what can you do, sir?
- 7:34Speaker 1: I will continue to make the case for New York City,
- 7:37Speaker 1: And I think that's been at the heart of every
- 7:39Speaker 1: conversation that I've had with the President, whether it's in
- 7:41Speaker 1: the Oval office or through the handful of texts and
- 7:43Speaker 1: calls that we've exchanged. It's always about making the case
- 7:46Speaker 1: for this city.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so they do text back and forth. And I
- 7:49Speaker 2: was asked how much, really quickly, how often do you
- 7:52Speaker 2: text with Donald Trump? Are you guys texting like every day?
- 7:56Speaker 1: We've exchanged a handful of text.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Messages, A handful. I would say it's ten, probably ten
- 8:03Speaker 2: times they've texted back and forth. But that's in just
- 8:05Speaker 2: a few weeks, So it's a couple of times a
- 8:07Speaker 2: week they text back and forth.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And whenever I reach out to the President or the
- 8:12Speaker 1: President reaches out to me, I always make the case
- 8:14Speaker 1: for our city. And this is in line with what
- 8:16Speaker 1: I've said over the course of the campaign as I
- 8:19Speaker 1: ran to become the mayor, is that wherever there is
- 8:21Speaker 1: a possibility to advance an agenda that would benefit New Yorkers,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I would take that opportunity to speak directly to the President,
- 8:28Speaker 1: and wherever there's disagreement, I will also be frank and
- 8:30Speaker 1: honest about that disagreement.
- 8:32Speaker 2: All right now, And this is the first part again.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And whenever I reach out to the President, or the
- 8:36Speaker 1: President reaches out to me.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Okay, so that's interesting. Sometimes it's the President contacts him
- 8:40Speaker 2: by text, but sometimes he reaches out to the president.
- 8:44Speaker 2: So it's not just President Trump chasing him, as he admits.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And whenever I reach out to the President of the president.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Reaches sometimes he starts the conversation, which means he's trying
- 8:56Speaker 2: to keep this relationship going with President Trump. Now I
- 9:02Speaker 2: hope he's not listening. But here's some insight info. A
- 9:06Speaker 2: lot of people this time around have the President's cell phone.
- 9:08Speaker 2: This term, he has given a cell phone number to
- 9:11Speaker 2: everybody who wants it. Everybody knows or runs into. Every
- 9:15Speaker 2: reporter has his cell number now. And if he texts
- 9:18Speaker 2: back and forth, if you text him or he texts you,
- 9:22Speaker 2: now I can understand, Ma'm donnie texted him. He is
- 9:24Speaker 2: the most powerful guy in the world. Of course you'd
- 9:26Speaker 2: love having this relationship with him. But why would Trump
- 9:29Speaker 2: text him? Well, he's just playing him a little. But
- 9:34Speaker 2: it's probably the Trump is watching TV. Watches a lot
- 9:36Speaker 2: of TV, and if all of a sudden there's something
- 9:38Speaker 2: about Mam Donnie on the screen, he is, oh, yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 2: that guy, let me text himselfthing. So he's kind of
- 9:42Speaker 2: stringing them along. Now, if you can text the President,
- 9:46Speaker 2: he texts you back. That's good. You've got a little
- 9:48Speaker 2: relationship with the president. But when you're really friendly with
- 9:51Speaker 2: the president, you're getting calls from him. He usually sometimes
- 9:55Speaker 2: it's during the week, he'll give you a call. Sometimes
- 9:58Speaker 2: it's late at night he'll give you a call. But
- 10:01Speaker 2: a lot of times it's Saturday morning and Sunday morning.
- 10:04Speaker 2: He loves to make a lot of calls because Saturday
- 10:06Speaker 2: and Sunday he's not working. He's not in the Oval office.
- 10:09Speaker 2: He's up in the residence, or many times he's in
- 10:12Speaker 2: Palm Beach. He's going to play golf. Later, like eleven o'clock,
- 10:16Speaker 2: he's going to go play golf. But from eight in
- 10:19Speaker 2: the morning to eleven he's watching TV. But a lot
- 10:22Speaker 2: of times he makes a lot of phone calls on
- 10:24Speaker 2: a Saturday morning to friends of his in New York,
- 10:27Speaker 2: to friends of his around the country, just to check
- 10:30Speaker 2: in people. He likes to hear what they got to say,
- 10:33Speaker 2: if they got any advice, if they got any opinions,
- 10:36Speaker 2: or some of them. He calls because he wants to
- 10:38Speaker 2: know what's going on in your business, your city. You're
- 10:42Speaker 2: friends of his people he's known. So that's the good news, Mom,
- 10:46Speaker 2: Donnie's not getting any of these Saturday morning phone calls.
- 10:48Speaker 2: You know, the text is like a minute or two
- 10:51Speaker 2: back and forth. If you call him and you get
- 10:53Speaker 2: him in the Oval office, if he answers the call,
- 10:56Speaker 2: you're going to have two or three minutes on the phone.
- 10:58Speaker 2: If you get one of those sadday morning calls, you're
- 11:02Speaker 2: going to have ten minutes, twenty minutes. That's a long
- 11:04Speaker 2: time with the President of the United States. So Mom,
- 11:08Speaker 2: Donnie has got the lowest level of relationship right now
- 11:12Speaker 2: with Trump. But I think he's just stringing him along,
- 11:16Speaker 2: keeping him on the fishing, you know, on the line.
- 11:20Speaker 2: At some point he may want to reel him in
- 11:22Speaker 2: a little, but not yet. So now, Maria Machado, she's
- 11:31Speaker 2: the opposition leader in Venezuela. She's the one that got
- 11:35Speaker 2: the Nobel Prize. No, she's out of Venezuela and she'd
- 11:40Speaker 2: like to come back and be the leader. Trump has
- 11:43Speaker 2: a lot of respect for her. She was at the
- 11:45Speaker 2: White House yesterday. From what I hear, he's not sure
- 11:48Speaker 2: she'd be good as the leader of Venezuela. She's nothing
- 11:53Speaker 2: wrong with her, just they don't know that she has
- 11:56Speaker 2: the clout or the gravitas or the love of the
- 12:00Speaker 2: Venezuelan people to be ableieved, but she wants to be there,
- 12:03Speaker 2: so she visited the president yesterday. She won the Nobel
- 12:05Speaker 2: Peace Prize Maria Machado, and she gave President Trump the
- 12:09Speaker 2: Nobel Prize. It's the actual medallion. You can't give the
- 12:14Speaker 2: Nobel Prize to somebody, Like if you're an Oscar winner,
- 12:18Speaker 2: you could give your Oscar to somebody, say here, you
- 12:20Speaker 2: keep this in your house, put it on your mantle,
- 12:23Speaker 2: but they're not an Oscar winner. You're still the Oscar winner.
- 12:25Speaker 2: So she gave him the Nobel Prize Nobel Committee, which
- 12:28Speaker 2: is it's a very partisan left wing award. You have
- 12:33Speaker 2: to be a left wing Democrat to win a Nobel Prize.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It's the most partisan award in the world. Remember Barack Obama,
- 12:40Speaker 2: when he got elected president, was immediately given the award.
- 12:43Speaker 2: He hadn't even taken office yet. He then literally has
- 12:46Speaker 2: done nothing and he gets the award. It is a Democrat.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Jimmy Carter completely screws up the whole world and gets
- 12:51Speaker 2: a Nobel Prize. He's a Democrat. Trump settles the six
- 12:55Speaker 2: Wars so far, no prize. You can't get it if
- 12:58Speaker 2: you're a Republican, if you're George Book if you're h. W.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Bush Reagan, you're not getting a Nobel Prize. Trump knows that,
- 13:04Speaker 2: so that's why he loves to needle them. So she
- 13:07Speaker 2: gave him the Nobel Price. He's put it in I
- 13:09Speaker 2: think ut least I heard he put it in the
- 13:11Speaker 2: dining room. It's in a beautiful frame. The Nobel Committee
- 13:16Speaker 2: immediately put out a statement, official statement. He may have
- 13:20Speaker 2: the medallion, but that does not mean he has a
- 13:22Speaker 2: Nobel Prize, and he does not. So here's machatter. You say,
- 13:26Speaker 2: I present the President of the United States the medal
- 13:32Speaker 2: of the Noble Priest Prize. Yeah. So it's been a
- 13:37Speaker 2: beautiful frame. It's sitting in the White House. But again
- 13:42Speaker 2: again it does not count as an actual Nobel Price.
- 13:45Speaker 2: But it's good that it's in the White House and
- 13:47Speaker 2: that Trump has it just to needle that committee. Hey,
- 13:51Speaker 2: you know who was at the White House yesterday? They
- 13:54Speaker 2: kept it very quiet. Chuck Schumer came to the White
- 13:58Speaker 2: House for a private meeting with Donald Trump. President Trump
- 14:01Speaker 2: invited Schumer to the White House. They wanted to talk
- 14:03Speaker 2: about funding for New York City, you know, for that
- 14:06Speaker 2: gateway tunnel and project Schumer wanted. Does Schumer hate Trump. Well,
- 14:15Speaker 2: he doesn't love Trump. But you know, they've known each
- 14:17Speaker 2: other for forty years. These two guys, they're both real
- 14:21Speaker 2: New York guys. The first term, whenever you saw Schumer
- 14:25Speaker 2: with Trump, Schumer was so dismissive of Trump. And you
- 14:28Speaker 2: got to remember, if you're mister king of politics, king
- 14:31Speaker 2: of d C, or the Senate leader for a million
- 14:34Speaker 2: years and a total amateur guy gets elected, you resent
- 14:38Speaker 2: this guy in any business. You know, it's like like
- 14:43Speaker 2: we hate all the podcasters, you know, these amateur housewives
- 14:46Speaker 2: who do podcasts. We can't stand this. We're all professionals
- 14:48Speaker 2: to see an amateur do it. So it's the same
- 14:51Speaker 2: thing with Schumer. When he had to sit in the
- 14:55Speaker 2: Oval office, he says, I'm a professional. I've been doing
- 14:57Speaker 2: this thirty years. This guy total amateur. He's the president.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I got to to him. You could see it in
- 15:01Speaker 2: the way he talked to him in the first term.
- 15:03Speaker 2: It's different now and now he's come to respect Trump
- 15:05Speaker 2: as a politician. He realizes this guy's more of a politician,
- 15:09Speaker 2: more skilled politically than he is, so he talks to
- 15:12Speaker 2: him differently now. But they had a meeting yesterday. I
- 15:16Speaker 2: don't know how it went. But I think you can
- 15:20Speaker 2: take away something from the fact that Schumer has kept
- 15:22Speaker 2: it very very very quiet. Schumer not saying a word
- 15:28Speaker 2: about it. So it's pretty interesting, I guess, because he
- 15:31Speaker 2: doesn't want his followers to know that he's sitting there
- 15:35Speaker 2: being nice to Trump. But for all your Democrats out there,
- 15:37Speaker 2: Schumer was in the White House yesterday closing up to Trump,
- 15:41Speaker 2: being his buddy. Anyway, Hey, we'll take some calls in
- 15:44Speaker 2: a minute. Eight hundred three to two one zero seven
- 15:48Speaker 2: ten is the number, eight hundred three to two, one
- 15:50Speaker 2: zero seven ten.
