- 0:59Speaker 1: What made what makes a personal legend?
- 1:01Speaker 2: I mean I would say catalog influence, uh impact, talent?
- 1:09Speaker 2: I think you know. I was just I was just
- 1:11Speaker 2: having this conversation the other day because I knew you
- 1:14Speaker 2: were coming, and I was telling my buy I'm like,
- 1:15Speaker 2: you know, DJ Paul is like, damn, You're like, I know, like, yeah,
- 1:18Speaker 2: gets a lot of flowers for being like the rapper
- 1:20Speaker 2: producer guy. But I'm like, DJ Paul is the one
- 1:24Speaker 2: for real.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I try, man, I try to put diverse my portfolio.
- 1:29Speaker 2: New album, Go of All Goats. Yeah, man, you feel
- 1:32Speaker 2: that way about yourself naming the album go to All
- 1:34Speaker 2: Gats man?
- 1:35Speaker 1: You know, I do you know the reason why I
- 1:36Speaker 1: named it that is because a lot of people out here,
- 1:41Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of fans out here that
- 1:45Speaker 1: artists that they look.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Up to look up to me.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You know. Like so I was like, you know, like
- 1:51Speaker 1: I'm not better than this dude, but I'm like somebody
- 1:54Speaker 1: who this dude is a fan of. You know, Like
- 1:56Speaker 1: if you look into the eminem book, the book that
- 2:00Speaker 1: them wrote, yeah, he got like a page on that
- 2:03Speaker 1: that shows all of the his kind of influence, like
- 2:07Speaker 1: his raps and scrap books and this and that, and
- 2:10Speaker 1: he got a CD that I produced in that.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Book on which city was It's a little white CD.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Oh shout a little white man.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, shout a little white And I was like, damn, look,
- 2:20Speaker 1: eminem is listening to a little.
- 2:22Speaker 2: White Who would have thought?
- 2:23Speaker 1: Who would have all?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, shouts a little white man. Very dope artist, still
- 2:30Speaker 2: doing this thing.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Too, Yes for making an album on him another one.
- 2:34Speaker 1: But but I was like, you know, like a lot
- 2:36Speaker 1: of these a lot of these guys I made, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 1: like from you know, anybody you know, like the Migos
- 2:44Speaker 1: or anybody like man, I grew up on your music
- 2:46Speaker 1: and my parents used to listen to your music. I'm like,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I feel a little old by that, but I appreciate it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:53Speaker 2: What I always would tell people too, is like I
- 2:57Speaker 2: wanted to I always wanted to ask you this. Obviously,
- 2:59Speaker 2: kick an interview off. Were talking about influence, but you know,
- 3:03Speaker 2: little John got a lot of credit for kicking off
- 3:07Speaker 2: whatever you would consider crunk music and the chanting. But
- 3:11Speaker 2: you guys, to me, were the real creators of that
- 3:15Speaker 2: sub genre of hip hop.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well of course we did.
- 3:18Speaker 2: We created like that was y'all's thing, Like I bet
- 3:21Speaker 2: you like that was y'all's thing. Like when you guys
- 3:26Speaker 2: saw like John like taking it, you know, and obviously
- 3:28Speaker 2: kind of I mean, he's the crunk guy now right,
- 3:30Speaker 2: Like he's got crunk juice and all this, But at
- 3:33Speaker 2: that time, you guys were a little kind of like,
- 3:35Speaker 2: were you guys feeling some type of like damn, like
- 3:37Speaker 2: that's kind of our ship low key.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Well, it pushed me to want to get a record
- 3:41Speaker 1: deal independent. I was cool with being independent, but then
- 3:45Speaker 1: I was like, shit, if we don't get a record
- 3:47Speaker 1: deal and get this out to the masses, like people,
- 3:50Speaker 1: just everybody else will take the credit for us and
- 3:53Speaker 1: and we they never know that we had anything to
- 3:56Speaker 1: do with it, right, you know, like shout out to John.
- 4:00Speaker 2: The greatest, by the way, one of the best guys ever.
- 4:03Speaker 1: He's a personal friend of mine.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And another one of those guys who we don't talk
- 4:07Speaker 2: about enough about. How incredible overproducer is this the same
- 4:09Speaker 2: guy who did blow the whistle and tell me how
- 4:11Speaker 2: to go?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so lo John took it to a whole other level.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I'll tell you that much. You know, we created love,
- 4:19Speaker 1: John took it put its own spin on it because
- 4:22Speaker 1: Lo John Beast was different than us.
- 4:23Speaker 2: For sure. It was the chanting, it was the chance.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So he took it to a whole eleven and he helped.
- 4:29Speaker 1: He helped us in a way because he helped, you know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: build the whole, the whole thing of krunk.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Hey, don't forget man. Ease dot com. If you're in

- 5:12Speaker 2: because you guys come into the game independent juggernauts, right.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I remember there being I remember there was like two
- 5:20Speaker 2: separate ads and the Source or double xls. Back in
- 5:23Speaker 2: the day, there would be like the Loud Records Official Project,
- 5:27Speaker 2: and then there would be like the Hypnotized Minds, whatever
- 5:31Speaker 2: side albums y'all had going at the time, the Triple
- 5:33Speaker 2: six Mafia, because there'd be the Triple six shit and
- 5:37Speaker 2: then there was the three six shit. Yeah, which I'm
- 5:40Speaker 2: assuming was your guys as little loophole that like double
- 5:42Speaker 2: up looking.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah, man, man, just it might be, you know, till
- 5:48Speaker 1: the smartest dudes in the music industry, but with that one.
- 5:51Speaker 1: But you know, we was making sounding so much money
- 5:54Speaker 1: that they didn't they didn't care that we was putting
- 5:56Speaker 1: out these little side projects. You know, well, I put
- 5:59Speaker 1: out an hour album. We put out an album through
- 6:02Speaker 1: Sony and it would go platinum, you know, sell million copies.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And then we put our Triple six to Mafia with
- 6:08Speaker 1: different songs independent at you know, nine dollars a unit
- 6:12Speaker 1: and that'll sell to three four hundred times.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You guys are what what was that independent distributor? You're
- 6:17Speaker 2: going to select hits?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, still for some stuff. Yeah, So yeah, that's so.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Back then, you guys were getting the major label money
- 6:25Speaker 2: from the Three six Mafia albums, Yeah, but the side
- 6:30Speaker 2: stuff you So, I don't think people understand like the
- 6:33Speaker 2: scale of how the music industry has changed, because back
- 6:36Speaker 2: then you'd have to go to Sam Goodie and a
- 6:39Speaker 2: lot of times you pay like eighteen ninety nine for
- 6:41Speaker 2: an album, like a Triple six Mafia.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Album, the cheapest was sixteen ninety nine.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Right, So you guys are getting nine bucks in pocket
- 6:48Speaker 2: or so off each one of us.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah for the independent stuff, and you
- 6:52Speaker 1: guys were running it up. Yeah. It was doing three
- 6:54Speaker 1: four hundred thousand copies on this one, three four hundred
- 6:58Speaker 1: thousand on this one, that on nine dollars. You know, man,
- 7:01Speaker 1: it was crazy crazy.
- 7:03Speaker 2: What at that point in time were you guys. I mean, look,
- 7:07Speaker 2: I know you guys had your guys' bouts with substances
- 7:09Speaker 2: and all of none of that stuff is a secret,
- 7:12Speaker 2: But were you guys stacking bread in the nineties when
- 7:16Speaker 2: you guys were on that run, Like.
- 7:18Speaker 1: We wasn't drugheads like that, right, Like, we wasn't the
- 7:21Speaker 1: dudes that sent up and spent all of our money
- 7:24Speaker 1: on drugs. Like my best friend, Get High Chris was.
- 7:27Speaker 2: A crazy name, Get Hi Chris.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Everybody knows get high Chris. They talked about him on
- 7:32Speaker 1: a million songs like he was he was my best
- 7:35Speaker 1: friend growing up since fourth grade and he was the guy, right,
- 7:39Speaker 1: you know, he was the guy. So he just came
- 7:41Speaker 1: over my house. I was the only one, you know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: in our neighborhood at the time that had a house
- 7:45Speaker 1: because you know, like I was, I was a celebrity,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I was a rapper. Yeah, so I always had like
- 7:50Speaker 1: a house or an apartment or something that we could
- 7:52Speaker 1: hang out with and hang out, and he just would
- 7:55Speaker 1: come over there with it and I never bought it. Right,
- 7:58Speaker 1: it was best.
- 7:59Speaker 2: It wasn't like you guys were like over here supporting
- 8:01Speaker 2: like some crazy habit with your guys is like.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Getting everybody was getting. Man, when you a celebrity, the
- 8:08Speaker 1: drugs is the last thing you gotta worry about.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I try to tell people now it's like I get
- 8:12Speaker 2: I get so much free weed now. Yeah, I'm like,
- 8:14Speaker 2: I don't remember last time. I remember last time I
- 8:17Speaker 2: bought marijuana.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, you ain't gotta bad, You ain't got a bad.
- 8:20Speaker 1: They gonna throw it on stage. They're gonna get you
- 8:22Speaker 1: to have people just want to, you know, hang out
- 8:24Speaker 1: and they gonna bring it so like, yeah, we we
- 8:27Speaker 1: were saving our money and we was we was real
- 8:29Speaker 1: smart with that money because we wasn't we wasn't drug
- 8:33Speaker 1: heads like that.
- 8:34Speaker 2: We wasn't crack at that time. Like, uh, Memphis doesn't
- 8:40Speaker 2: have the infrastructure and the like today when we think
- 8:43Speaker 2: about Memphis, it's like one of the hot beds of
- 8:46Speaker 2: hip hop, you know, and you know back in the
- 8:48Speaker 2: day it was you guys, it was a ball. It
- 8:49Speaker 2: was m j G. It was there was obviously another
- 8:52Speaker 2: thing going on then, what was the because you guys
- 8:56Speaker 2: built an independent infrastructure that rivaled what was happening in
- 9:01Speaker 2: the Bay that was you know, rivaled with like guys
- 9:03Speaker 2: like The Limit were doing. What was that? Can you
- 9:07Speaker 2: just kind of cause you guys go from doing stuff
- 9:09Speaker 2: like mystic styles right to get in the sony situation.
- 9:13Speaker 2: What was it that kind of caught I guess caught
- 9:16Speaker 2: traction that got you guys into that like major label
- 9:20Speaker 2: world where you guys were able to actually get major distribution.
- 9:24Speaker 1: It was because independent album came out and then the
- 9:28Speaker 1: second three since my album it came out and did
- 9:31Speaker 1: so good. It was the an album you know and.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Leed Man, that's was that a that's one of those
- 9:39Speaker 2: nineties covers that sticks out. Yeah, Penn and Pixel yep.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And that album came out and it did, uh.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It debuted on Billboard pretty high. I can't remember where
- 9:53Speaker 1: it debuted at, and I think it debuted like number
- 9:56Speaker 1: thirty or forty on Billboard, you know, independent. And then know,
- 10:00Speaker 1: Sony gave us a call, but we had already sent
- 10:03Speaker 1: that album to Sony. We was trying to get a
- 10:06Speaker 1: record deal, and they had told us no, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: because they didn't didn't nobody understand that music back then, right,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you know, so they told us no. We were like,
- 10:15Speaker 1: all right, So we put it out on our own and.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And it did what it did.
- 10:19Speaker 1: It did what it did, and then they called us back.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And then you know, when they called us back, you know,
- 10:23Speaker 1: I would say I wanted more money. I was like,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you know, I would have did it for us, but
- 10:27Speaker 1: now they does.
- 10:29Speaker 2: You guys had this like brand that was always supers
- 10:32Speaker 2: like mysterious. It was like obviously the hypnotized mind ship,
- 10:36Speaker 2: but you guys are also like the profit ship and
- 10:38Speaker 2: and all that was all that like pretty on purpose,
- 10:41Speaker 2: like intentional your guys's brand. I mean, you guys brand
- 10:44Speaker 2: was low key spooky back in the day. Yeah, what's
- 10:47Speaker 2: up with these guys?
- 10:48Speaker 1: And that's just what we were just into. We were
- 10:50Speaker 1: just into like spooky Ship, into serial killers and you
- 10:54Speaker 1: know all of that stuff. So, you know, we were
- 10:56Speaker 1: just into that.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Chapter two is the first album that comes out through Sony.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:06Speaker 2: From there, I feel like it was kind of off
- 11:08Speaker 2: to the races, right, like that's ninety seven.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So yeah, and then you know, it was.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Just approaching almost thirty years, right, twenty nine years since
- 11:19Speaker 2: that that that came out.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, a long time ago, man, Yeah, but it was
- 11:25Speaker 1: it was fun, you know what I'm saying. I know
- 11:27Speaker 1: now just doing my own thing and the ears was
- 11:32Speaker 1: fun and those are behind us.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah for sure. I mean you've also I mean, look,
- 11:36Speaker 2: i mean your solo catalog is insane.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, I'm starting to put a little more
- 11:43Speaker 1: a little more into that.
- 11:44Speaker 2: You know, I remember what was the album he dropped?
- 11:47Speaker 2: It was like one of the albums I really fucked
- 11:49Speaker 2: was the Skeleton or Skeleton?
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yea great album?
- 11:52Speaker 2: Was that like twenty eleven?
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, like now right before the mixtape Shit went crazy? Yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 1: that was like that mixtape Ship was that was.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Like right before the blog era really got crazy.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the mixtape era. You know, it helped
- 12:08Speaker 1: a lot of artists obviously, like helped the new artists
- 12:12Speaker 1: and help the new artists, but the older artists.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Trying to sell my ship.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah you're selling you about about it. It was a
- 12:21Speaker 1: It was a I was over Quincy Jones house Rest
- 12:23Speaker 1: of the Peace, Quincy Jones. Quincy Jones was a good
- 12:26Speaker 1: friend of mine and I was over Quincy Jones house
- 12:29Speaker 1: in like two thousand and seven. Uh, and uh he
- 12:34Speaker 1: was like, he's like, you know, pretty He was like, uh,
- 12:38Speaker 1: pretty soon, let me turn itround. I start over. This
- 12:44Speaker 1: phone never rings, by the way, it might be important,
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's not important. It's just a text us. So, so
- 12:55Speaker 1: the mixtape, the whole mixtape era. You know, I was
- 12:59Speaker 1: over Quincy Jones house in like two thousand and seven,
- 13:02Speaker 1: two thousand and eight, and Quincy Jones was like, he
- 13:05Speaker 1: was like, you know, pretty soon we're gonna have to
- 13:06Speaker 1: be giving away music. And I was like, I hope
- 13:10Speaker 1: not that. She later two years later that shit man,
- 13:14Speaker 1: these niggas were giving away albums like crazy. I'm talking
- 13:18Speaker 1: like straight real album.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Like I think about them away the first the first
- 13:22Speaker 2: wolf project that popped in was Trunk Music, and that
- 13:24Speaker 2: was a free mixtape. You know, Big Creep pop off
- 13:27Speaker 2: a free album like Big Sean, like j Cole got
- 13:30Speaker 2: two free ones that came out. Whiz you know what
- 13:32Speaker 2: I mean. I used to give out free albums misic styles.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I went to Atlantan Gay that album for free. Now
- 13:37Speaker 2: understand that.
- 13:38Speaker 1: On the internet, it's like, yeah, it was handed somebody
- 13:42Speaker 1: a couple of dudes at a bar, right, Yeah, It's like, look,
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's one hundred y'alls and I'm gonna give ten of
- 13:48Speaker 1: y'all one and hopefully the other ninety I go by,
- 13:51Speaker 1: but you know, just blasting out, and I was like, god, damn.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I fell back. I made that Skeleton album. It did
- 13:58Speaker 1: really good. It was the end of people of buying
- 14:00Speaker 1: physical CDs at that time, and you know, it did
- 14:03Speaker 1: really good. I think I did like three hundred thousand
- 14:06Speaker 1: conference or whatever on that. And then I fell back.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I was like, you know what, I'm out, I'm not
- 14:12Speaker 1: giving away free music.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Did that kind of like make push you into like
- 14:17Speaker 2: other interests.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Or were you like, yeah, it pushed me into man, thanks,
- 14:21Speaker 1: great question. Yes it did. It pushed me into real estate,
- 14:24Speaker 1: and I stopped buying real estate, like crazy, I own
- 14:27Speaker 1: nineteen properties. Now I just stopped buying a town of
- 14:31Speaker 1: real estate because.
- 14:33Speaker 2: You had all that money. Fuck nine dollars of CD.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, exactly. I just I just stopped buying real estate.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And in twenty ten I got I got into the
- 14:44Speaker 1: restaurant scene.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, tough scene. By the way, I owned a couple.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not the easiest style.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It's not. It's not.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It feels like they'd be like, yo, the margins are
- 14:53Speaker 2: crazy on this food until you realize, like, running a
- 14:56Speaker 2: restaurant fucking sucks.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Bro, It's a lot. It was a love I got one.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Now I only got one, you know, but if I
- 15:04Speaker 1: got in, I started that. There was like twenty ten.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I started dibbling and dabbling with that whole day made
- 15:11Speaker 1: the reality show.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Reality show was a hit.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but this was another reality show. You're talking about
- 15:19Speaker 1: Adventures in HollyHood. But in twenty ten we did one
- 15:23Speaker 1: called Famous Food on VH one.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I think I remember that.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, with the celebrities. We was opening up the restaurant.
- 15:31Speaker 1: So I opened up that restaurant. I won that restaurant
- 15:35Speaker 1: RD on that show. There was some other guys and
- 15:39Speaker 1: opened up that restaurant. It was just a party house,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you know. We had to close that down after about
- 15:44Speaker 1: seven months. And then twenty fifteen, five years later, me
- 15:50Speaker 1: and some of the guys on that project got together
- 15:52Speaker 1: and we found a property on Rodale Drive. And Rodale
- 15:58Speaker 1: Drive don't really have restaurants on it, you know, it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: not for the shopping yep. So my guys like, hey,
- 16:03Speaker 1: y'all want to put a restaurant here, and I'm like,
- 16:04Speaker 1: hell yeah, and then ya open. Yeah it's still open
- 16:10Speaker 1: in three years now.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Oh that's congrats man.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah, the Hideaway on Rodale Drive fortuenty one Rodale Drive
- 16:15Speaker 1: to Hideaway. So it took us forever to open it.
- 16:17Speaker 1: We started on twenty fifteen. We were supposed to open
- 16:20Speaker 1: in like February of twenty twenty. Then the pandemic hit
- 16:25Speaker 1: and then Beverly Hills was giving us a bunch of issues.
- 16:29Speaker 1: This kind of floor, this kind.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Of wall, of course, of course.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like this don't fit the aesthetics of Beverly
- 16:35Speaker 1: Hills and this wood don't go.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I can imagine it's like having like a really shitty
- 16:39Speaker 2: uh way.
- 16:42Speaker 1: But it was a blessing though, you know what I'm saying.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It was a blessing because with them giving us shit
- 16:46Speaker 1: made us not be able to open in twenty twenty anyway, Right,
- 16:49Speaker 1: so then the pandemic.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Because the pandemic might have washed y'all out.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it would have watched it out. We would have
- 16:54Speaker 1: been open before she had rent On Rodeo Drive would
- 16:58Speaker 1: have been done. Yeah, So it was a blessing in
- 17:01Speaker 1: the skies when we opened up after and uh they
- 17:05Speaker 1: had the restaurant is popping. You know, Sophia of the Gars.
- 17:09Speaker 1: When I've been in the Spiders.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Shout out to Sofia.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Super hot.
- 17:13Speaker 2: She's a legend.
- 17:14Speaker 1: She is a super legend.
- 17:16Speaker 2: You've had this. You have like these like relationships with
- 17:21Speaker 2: certain people or crews in hip hop that are just
- 17:25Speaker 2: like iron clad, Like you and Yellow Wolf have to
- 17:28Speaker 2: slum Mafia thing. That Blackfall ep. By the way, I
- 17:31Speaker 2: think that's some of your best production.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that ship is four songs, but Jesus shout out
- 17:36Speaker 3: the team.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I wish that ship was on I don't think it's
- 17:38Speaker 2: on Spotify. You got to go find that ship on
- 17:40Speaker 2: YouTube or something. Because you were sampling like all kinds
- 17:43Speaker 2: of rock ship on there, even if you think all
- 17:47Speaker 2: the way back to like when the smoke clears your
- 17:48Speaker 2: you got a record on there with three six Spaffe
- 17:50Speaker 2: and Twisted.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Clo.
- 17:53Speaker 2: That's what I meant to say. You are c P
- 17:56Speaker 2: and and twisted.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Shout out to the ICP but my voice.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Yeah, what is your guys like, because what is it
- 18:02Speaker 2: about the Juggalo subculture that because you've done gathering of
- 18:08Speaker 2: the Juggalos, you guys have always worked together. What is
- 18:12Speaker 2: it about kind of that Juggalo subculture of music that
- 18:15Speaker 2: is kind of clicked with DJ Paul and the three
- 18:18Speaker 2: six fans.
- 18:19Speaker 1: It's just because of it's because of the Juggalos. First
- 18:23Speaker 1: of all, they're fun. You know, I love doing the festival.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You know, I'm a Juggler myself. I love them, and
- 18:31Speaker 1: it's just the whole because I grew up on rock music, right,
- 18:35Speaker 1: so they just give me a rock field, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 1: like you can tell I CP it grew up on
- 18:42Speaker 1: a lot of rock as well, so there was that.
- 18:47Speaker 1: They just give me that whole rock field. Doing the
- 18:49Speaker 1: fast and doing that. It's the closest that I get.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Now I do rock festivals, yeah for sure. Vals Now
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know, we just started doing that maybe two years ago.
- 18:59Speaker 1: But and we got another one coming up, a big one,
- 19:02Speaker 1: this ship. But that was the closest thing to me
- 19:07Speaker 1: feeling like a woodstock or some of these old events
- 19:13Speaker 1: that I festivals that I grew up watching as a
- 19:15Speaker 1: kid that I wish.
- 19:16Speaker 2: You would hear all kind of crazy stories about, like
- 19:18Speaker 2: a drug bridge or like a gang bang tent or.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. I've been on the drug bridge. I
- 19:24Speaker 1: wasn't getting high, just just chill.
- 19:25Speaker 2: But there's like a bridge. Everyone just goes to get
- 19:27Speaker 2: the bridge. Yeah, and it's all on private property, so
- 19:30Speaker 2: it's like you can really just do what every fun
- 19:32Speaker 2: you want.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah everything, man, people don't be on that. Man, it's wild.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Girls be walking around naked all over the place like
- 19:39Speaker 1: it ain't nothing.
- 19:40Speaker 2: And it's like funny because you'll see like certain people
- 19:43Speaker 2: will agree to do the show and not kind of
- 19:45Speaker 2: I feel like know what they're signing up for all Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 2: they don't know. And then like some people have gotten
- 19:51Speaker 2: either boot off or shit. I think there was like
- 19:53Speaker 2: that Tila Tequila chick.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and they got messed up. I was dead
- 19:57Speaker 1: at night. I didn't see that they were throwing down.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You got them pretty messed up. Man, that was crazy. Yeah,
- 20:02Speaker 1: you just gotta you gotta know what you getting into. Like,
- 20:05Speaker 1: they don't. They don't mean no harm. Bay, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: they're just gonna throw stuff at you. But a lot
- 20:08Speaker 1: of people take the wrong way. A lot of people
- 20:10Speaker 1: like this. Motherfuckers just do some because of the average counserve.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Somebody throw someth mentioned problem, that's a problem. But junglos
- 20:16Speaker 1: throw something. They just want you to throw it back. Yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 1: they might take off their shoe and throw it at you.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You got some money and then you just throw them
- 20:24Speaker 1: the shoe back.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Hey, man, don't forget odd socks basics the only thing
- 20:28Speaker 2: that's on my feet man, or the odd socks baby,

- 21:47Speaker 2: We mentioned a little White a little bit earlier. Can
- 21:50Speaker 2: you kind of you know White, somebody who I feel
- 21:53Speaker 2: like doesn't get talked about enough in terms of just
- 21:55Speaker 2: he's an incredible artist. But you know, I know you
- 21:59Speaker 2: were a on the early stages of seeing like Jelly
- 22:03Speaker 2: Roll as a rapper. You guys, he's got a hypnotized
- 22:06Speaker 2: Minds tattoo. I don't know if people know that or not.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Jelly I believe he does under his shirt.
- 22:13Speaker 1: That's fine. I didn't check that out.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I'm I'm pretty I'm about one hundred percent probably do.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I've seen Jelly without a shirt a few times. I
- 22:19Speaker 2: mean not not, not just because I've been on the
- 22:21Speaker 2: tour bus with him, like before.
- 22:23Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Uh, can you kind of speak to like, you guys
- 22:27Speaker 2: just did a tour run with him and a couple
- 22:30Speaker 2: of years ago, and he's always very vocal about what
- 22:33Speaker 2: you guys have meant to his come up, Like, can
- 22:35Speaker 2: you just kind of speak to what it was like
- 22:38Speaker 2: seeing this whole kind of transition from him being like
- 22:41Speaker 2: an underground Tennessee rapper to one of the biggest stars
- 22:45Speaker 2: in the world.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, he's huge. Basically, what happened with that was
- 22:49Speaker 1: a little white discovered Jelly Roll. I don't know how
- 22:52Speaker 1: he how he discovered but some kind of way he
- 22:55Speaker 1: discovered him. If I had to take a guess, I
- 22:57Speaker 1: would be like, you know, obviously jail Roll probably was
- 23:00Speaker 1: and a little white.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there was like that, like kind of underground
- 23:05Speaker 2: white boy stack. Jelly a Little.
- 23:08Speaker 1: White got in touch with each other or whatever, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: and Little White brought him to me and Juicy and
- 23:14Speaker 1: Project Patton. He was like, man, you know these dudes, Uh,
- 23:17Speaker 1: these dudes are hard. Like it was Jelly. We put
- 23:19Speaker 1: together this group called Snow s n Oh and it
- 23:21Speaker 1: was Jelly, a Little White, and a guy named b
- 23:25Speaker 1: Peg from Indiana, Rest of Peach BPG and and men.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Juicy flew to Memphis and we did that album on
- 23:34Speaker 1: them and me and Jelly just got really really close
- 23:37Speaker 1: because we had some some street some street ship passes
- 23:41Speaker 1: that that that lined together. We knew some of the
- 23:44Speaker 1: same people. So me and Jelly got really really close.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And man, we made a great album. Man, you know
- 23:51Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Great albums the O of the day.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Jelly is like one of my boy boys. Love him.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like sometimes people forget like because now
- 23:59Speaker 2: he's like a you know, like a pop star, you know,
- 24:03Speaker 2: like Grandma's level. But sometimes I'd be like, people forget
- 24:07Speaker 2: this guy's from the streets like he did like hard times,
- 24:11Speaker 2: like street street.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Jee's a game banger. He was like he was he
- 24:15Speaker 1: was from the street street, you know, like you see
- 24:17Speaker 1: it and his old stuff. But you know, like that
- 24:20Speaker 1: was why I really loved Jelly so much, because he
- 24:26Speaker 1: he was coming in the studio like I play a
- 24:30Speaker 1: beat or Juicey Player beat or whatever, and he would
- 24:32Speaker 1: be singing these hooks were so much soul, but he'd
- 24:36Speaker 1: be talking about some street ship and I was like,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I don't know, no, no white dude in the game
- 24:42Speaker 1: that's doing that right now. Like I could think of
- 24:44Speaker 1: some black dudes doing whatever, you know, like you know
- 24:49Speaker 1: my guy with death Row, Rest in Peace, uh Nate
- 24:52Speaker 1: Dogg all thatver. But I didn't know nobody a white
- 24:55Speaker 1: rapper that was delivering soul street ship, and I knew
- 25:01Speaker 1: Jella was gonna blow up. You know. I wish, I
- 25:04Speaker 1: wish we would have just, you know, put more more
- 25:07Speaker 1: into into him and you know, made another project. I'm
- 25:11Speaker 1: just him.
- 25:11Speaker 2: But I feel like I feel like his journey made
- 25:14Speaker 2: it possible, like he kind of had to go through
- 25:17Speaker 2: all of the things he had to go through.
- 25:19Speaker 1: To like yeah, yeah, we couldn't. We couldn't have put
- 25:22Speaker 1: him where he at now. We could have, obnoestly, we
- 25:23Speaker 1: could have made him big, right well, We couldn't have
- 25:25Speaker 1: put him where he at now. If anything, we probably
- 25:28Speaker 1: would have made it worse, you know, because it's probably
- 25:30Speaker 1: been more alcohol, more drugs, this and that he needed,
- 25:34Speaker 1: he needed Bunny.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Bunny changed his life.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Bunny changed his life. Bonnie did something that I could
- 25:41Speaker 1: never do for sure.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, no, she she definitely changes life. You saw, you
- 25:45Speaker 2: kind of saw like the you kind of saw it slowly,
- 25:49Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 25:50Speaker 1: And then yeah, a lot of times artists need that,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know, like it's only so much me as a
- 25:56Speaker 1: manager in a record label CEO can do for the artist.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Like I can be there in the studio with you
- 26:03Speaker 1: and guide you, but I can't go home with you
- 26:06Speaker 1: and got you. And that's where the real mental situations
- 26:12Speaker 1: come in, and is when you leave the studio. Now
- 26:15Speaker 1: that's the most important part. So if the home ain't
- 26:18Speaker 1: the home ain't right, then you know, none of it
- 26:21Speaker 1: is going to be right?
- 26:23Speaker 2: Did you guys? Ever? Because I remember there were certain
- 26:26Speaker 2: artists when I was like coming up DJ and there'd
- 26:28Speaker 2: be certain songs that and I was I'm thirty nine,
- 26:32Speaker 2: so like when I was doing clubs, it was twenty
- 26:35Speaker 2: years ago, nine, who So it was like me, that's
- 26:39Speaker 2: an ever after you guys, right, But I can imagine like, like,
- 26:42Speaker 2: were you guys because you guys had the brand of
- 26:45Speaker 2: the being the tear of the club up thugs? Like
- 26:49Speaker 2: were clubs like let y'all in if Like I could
- 26:52Speaker 2: imagine if because I was in the club in scott
- 26:54Speaker 2: Stale right now. Yeah, it's what eleven eleven. I've had
- 26:56Speaker 2: Juicy there before, but Mina, next time you're in town,
- 27:01Speaker 2: you gotta come. But I could like if somebody was like,
- 27:05Speaker 2: we're the tear of the club up thugs, I'd be like, Yo,
- 27:08Speaker 2: we can't book that.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah, bro. They used to put in our contract that
- 27:12Speaker 1: we couldn't perform to the club up or they would
- 27:14Speaker 1: take money out of our back end.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Because can you I just could just imagine owning a
- 27:20Speaker 2: club and somebody's performed club up.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, telling them to test that.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I bet you won't hit them up. I'm like, god damn.
- 27:30Speaker 1: But I would just I would just get the money
- 27:31Speaker 1: up front and uh and tell them I wouldn't do it,
- 27:34Speaker 1: and then you know, we perform it anyway and they
- 27:37Speaker 1: tell that motherfucker apart. Man.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Was that like a cause? I feel like, was that
- 27:40Speaker 2: like a pretty normal thing where like because I feel
- 27:42Speaker 2: like people don't understand like this before social media is
- 27:45Speaker 2: a thing nowadays, some ship like that happens to be
- 27:48Speaker 2: all over academics, you know, or or like yo, so
- 27:51Speaker 2: and so performed.
- 27:52Speaker 1: It wouldn't happen.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Was there a lot of like was there a lot
- 27:55Speaker 2: of fights at your guys' club?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Guns man, tons tons fights, shoot out? I've seen a
- 28:01Speaker 1: million motherfuckers get shot, you know me? And like I
- 28:04Speaker 1: saw a dude get shot one night in Mipigs. We
- 28:06Speaker 1: was performing at uh Club three eighty three, a bill
- 28:11Speaker 1: that was a real popular club back then, and uh
- 28:14Speaker 1: uh crew guys got the fighting in the lobby and
- 28:18Speaker 1: you just and it was like I think it was
- 28:21Speaker 1: like a twenty two or something. You could really barely
- 28:23Speaker 1: hear it. But everybody started running and I thought everything
- 28:26Speaker 1: was done, and me and Lord was one in the bathroom.
- 28:29Speaker 1: It was a dude up under the sink. He was
- 28:30Speaker 1: like he was under sink and he had been shot
- 28:34Speaker 1: in his side. I think it went through his heart
- 28:36Speaker 1: or whatever, and he sat there on the sink. I
- 28:37Speaker 1: went out, I ran out of the lobby. I was like,
- 28:39Speaker 1: hey man, it's a dude there dying and uh, yeah,
- 28:42Speaker 1: he died. It was on news and everything. I've seen
- 28:44Speaker 1: a ton of that. I saw somebody get shot three
- 28:47Speaker 1: rows in front of me and and uh in uh
- 28:50Speaker 1: North Carolina. That was three SI my fans, one one
- 28:53Speaker 1: twelve doing the show and we.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Got that's that's a crazy lineup.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Dude was R and B saying, and yeah, a motherfucker
- 29:02Speaker 1: a dude who got shot right there in front of us.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I didn't even know he got shot. I was still
- 29:06Speaker 1: on stage rapping, and my security guy picked me up
- 29:09Speaker 1: and saw.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I care, like we gotta go.
- 29:11Speaker 1: They're like, man, we gotta go. Somebody that got shot.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I'm like what people was running. It was crazy.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Another classic that has been reworked, and it's like just
- 29:23Speaker 2: kind of now. It's like you you'd be crazy to
- 29:26Speaker 2: go to a club and not here to slob on
- 29:27Speaker 2: my knop. You want to talk about a song that
- 29:29Speaker 2: had like a second, third, fourth fifth life.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that song Forever Good Last Man.
- 29:35Speaker 2: But it's crazy because like it's it's bigger now than
- 29:40Speaker 2: it's ever been by far. Like one of them was
- 29:44Speaker 2: so funny. It's such a funny song. Were you guys,
- 29:47Speaker 2: because back in the day, uh, you know, it was
- 29:51Speaker 2: the idea of telling a girl to lick on your
- 29:52Speaker 2: butt when you guys were in the studio and that
- 29:55Speaker 2: line gets like recorded, is anybody like, well.
- 29:58Speaker 1: The song had already been out, So this song was
- 30:01Speaker 1: already out on one of the Juicy's underground tapes, okay,
- 30:05Speaker 1: and then you know, we we remade it for the
- 30:08Speaker 1: Tenny Club of Thugs album, you know, redid the beat
- 30:11Speaker 1: and all that, and he rewrapped it and all that.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So the song probably been out in the history of
- 30:17Speaker 1: Memphis for a while, probably ten years, nine years or something, Yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 1: because I think he wrote that in.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Like so it's just a fucking it's a really greater yeah.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, So the song had been around for a long
- 30:29Speaker 1: time and you know, like we were just redoing it
- 30:33Speaker 1: and then it just it went crazy because it was
- 30:35Speaker 1: already a big hit in Memphis.
- 30:39Speaker 2: The Juicy version. Yeah, so you you guys redoing it
- 30:42Speaker 2: kind of just yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, because we redid that. Like songs that was real
- 30:46Speaker 1: popular on my solo tape or his solo tastes, we
- 30:48Speaker 1: redid them, put.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Them on the club.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Tenni Club was on mine, yeah, yeah, me and Lord,
- 30:55Speaker 1: it was tape we took that and then we took
- 30:57Speaker 1: Slow and nine from him, and you know, to stop
- 31:00Speaker 1: putting together like that.
- 31:01Speaker 2: It's crazy. It's it's crazy, like just the amount of
- 31:04Speaker 2: like like when I said earlier we talked about influence.
- 31:07Speaker 2: That's a song that I just saw a brand drop
- 31:14Speaker 2: a Shrek style version of the skeleton t that Juicy's
- 31:20Speaker 2: wearing in the State Fly video like last week. I
- 31:23Speaker 2: saw it and.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I was I was like, the Supreme did one as well.
- 31:26Speaker 2: But it was like instead of skeletons, it was Shreks.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Wow.
- 31:30Speaker 2: But it was in the same style.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Wow.
- 31:32Speaker 2: And I was like, check this, this shirt will not die.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And it was just a little cheap shirt that right that.
- 31:39Speaker 2: You probably got it the swap meet the Court like where.
- 31:41Speaker 1: New York just some somewhere to the style is just
- 31:44Speaker 1: found that shirt and just gave Juice of that shirt
- 31:46Speaker 1: and their fucking shirt.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Blew up Jesus. That Yeah, it's it's it's crazy, man.
- 31:51Speaker 2: So tell me for this new album, man, you have
- 31:53Speaker 2: got uh the snow of the product record that's dope.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Shout out to Snow Who's somebody else? So I feel
- 31:58Speaker 2: like it doesn't get enough flowers. She's incredible.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Man, I love Snow. I've been working with Snow since
- 32:02Speaker 1: two thousand and eleven. I met Snow when I lived
- 32:05Speaker 1: in Vegas. She came by my studio, my PR lady
- 32:08Speaker 1: at the time, and my big sister Dove brought her
- 32:10Speaker 1: back there.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Do you know Chip the hat company? What was the
- 32:14Speaker 2: hat company she used to work with?
- 32:15Speaker 1: She used to work with that one hat coming. Yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I remember she used to send me all kind of
- 32:19Speaker 2: fucking hats man.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 2: When I was living in Vegas, how Night's Fire, yea, she.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Would be down there for them convention from Magic Agenda
- 32:26Speaker 1: and all that shit. Yep, she brought She brought Snow
- 32:29Speaker 1: to my studio. Then Snow was young and we did
- 32:33Speaker 1: a song, We did a video and everything, a song
- 32:35Speaker 1: called on Their Raw. And I just always stayed in
- 32:39Speaker 1: touch with Snow. You know. We always you know, like
- 32:42Speaker 1: big brother, big sister, little sister type of thing. And
- 32:45Speaker 1: you know, she ended up moving out here, and you know,
- 32:48Speaker 1: and then I started going about her crib and you know,
- 32:50Speaker 1: doing her her podcast.
- 32:52Speaker 2: And she's incredible and her and her podcast is fun.
- 32:55Speaker 2: They just have fun.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Man.
- 32:58Speaker 2: She got the ranch going. You know what I'm saying
- 33:00Speaker 2: mini Ranch in the Valley A.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you living life, man, Living life?
- 33:06Speaker 2: How long? Because there? Because you have a lot of
- 33:07Speaker 2: songs on it, which which is I love this because
- 33:09Speaker 2: it's very Uh. It reminds me of like old school
- 33:12Speaker 2: when you got twenty four songs on a fucking album.
- 33:14Speaker 2: People would actually.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Did a post and I was like, how many songs
- 33:17Speaker 1: should I put on here? Some people are like eight,
- 33:19Speaker 1: some people like twelve, Some people like twenty twenty plus. Man,
- 33:21Speaker 1: you haven't made an album seventy years plus plus, And
- 33:24Speaker 1: I was like, nah, I guess I go twenty four.
- 33:27Speaker 1: And then I made myself stop because I had more,
- 33:29Speaker 1: but I was like, I save it for another project.
- 33:31Speaker 1: But but the twenty four flowed good. I felt it was.
- 33:35Speaker 1: It was good because it gave you a little of everything,
- 33:38Speaker 1: like like you said, snow and that song was totally different.
- 33:43Speaker 1: And that's the reason why I had to put so
- 33:44Speaker 1: many songs, because I was trying different stuff on this album.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Now the beats on here, it was different stuff like
- 33:50Speaker 1: the Snow is a reggae tone, crunk, my fusion fusion.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 1: So you know, like I felt like if I give
- 33:59Speaker 1: them some so different, I gotta throw like an extra
- 34:02Speaker 1: two songs of my own style, of my original style
- 34:05Speaker 1: back on here, just a you know, a conversation for that,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you know. So that's why I put so many on
- 34:13Speaker 1: that because I was trying different stuff.
- 34:14Speaker 2: You and Freddy have an amazing chemistry that the pys
- 34:20Speaker 2: song on his album from a couple of years ago
- 34:23Speaker 2: is fucking incredible. He loves you. He's a lot of
- 34:27Speaker 2: people know that. Sorry. Fred's one of my best friends.
- 34:29Speaker 2: So I know, like you guys, it would. He's done
- 34:33Speaker 2: full albums with Alchemists, He's done full albums with mad Lib.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I feel like a DJ Paul fully produced Freddie Gibbs album.
- 34:41Speaker 1: We're finna do it. We're finna do a Hypnotized Rabbit.
- 34:43Speaker 1: That's the name of it.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Hypnotized Rabbit will be crazy.
- 34:48Speaker 1: We're finna do it. We already in the process of
- 34:50Speaker 1: doing it's gonna be crazy.
- 34:51Speaker 2: How many songs you guys got You think we.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Haven't recorded, No, but I got. I'm getting the Beast ready.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I'm getting the Beast ready. I think he's going to
- 34:58Speaker 1: go on tour, to go on on the on the
- 35:01Speaker 1: road spot days. But you know, in the process of it,
- 35:05Speaker 1: I'm be sending him stuff to get right while he
- 35:07Speaker 1: on the road, and I'll be doing the same.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Give him some of that dark shit you got man.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Yeah, when we did the new song my new album,
- 35:14Speaker 1: to find Out, after we finished recording it, he said,
- 35:17Speaker 1: motherfuckers think I can't rap ot no crunch shit. I
- 35:20Speaker 1: can rab old crunk shit. I was like, yeah, of
- 35:22Speaker 1: course you came, motherfucker. He was proud of that song. Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 2: No, it came out super dope, super dope. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:27Speaker 1: You gotta check out the video to the video sick.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw saw the video shots to Freddy Freddy's. Uh,
- 35:31Speaker 2: Freddy's one of the ones. Man, hell bees you are?
- 35:35Speaker 2: Can you can? You kind of talk about too because
- 35:37Speaker 2: you've had this relationship for so long with young Buck,
- 35:40Speaker 2: who obviously is from Nashville. He's on the new album,
- 35:43Speaker 2: but just that kind of I mean, we're going on
- 35:45Speaker 2: twenty years. Yeah, yeah, twenty three years. Since when did
- 35:48Speaker 2: State Flight come out? Two thousand and three, four five, five?
- 35:53Speaker 1: But years was Buck was on the Smoke Claire's album Crazy,
- 35:58Speaker 1: so was nineteen two thousand.
- 36:02Speaker 2: So no it's two thousands because I bought that album
- 36:04Speaker 2: the same day I bought Nellie's Country Grammar from the
- 36:06Speaker 2: Sam Goodie and San Diego.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yeah. So I've been knowing Buck for a while Buck Project.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I took Project pad to to go up to Nashville
- 36:16Speaker 1: and grab Buck and bring him to my house and
- 36:20Speaker 1: we just started working. And I've been been cool with
- 36:24Speaker 1: Buck ever since then. Man, love him to death. You know,
- 36:26Speaker 1: I got one on Bucked already done a full project,
- 36:30Speaker 1: full project. We've just been updated a little more and
- 36:36Speaker 1: then you're ready to put that out this year.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Do you feel like you figured out the balance of
- 36:44Speaker 2: being the guy who used to sell all these CDs independently,
- 36:48Speaker 2: being independent, but also kind of existing in this new
- 36:52Speaker 2: space where you got to drop your music. The streaming
- 36:57Speaker 2: revenue ain't there like that, It ain't crazy like it
- 37:00Speaker 2: should be, right, But people nowadays, more than ever, are
- 37:03Speaker 2: buying records and there, and they want to support, like
- 37:06Speaker 2: they want to own a piece of something, like are
- 37:09Speaker 2: you gonna have vinyl or you're gonna I'm.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Gonna do I'm doing vinyl and uh CDs, doing VIOYL
- 37:14Speaker 1: and CDs, because man, you just never know these days. Man,
- 37:18Speaker 1: You know, like I fear that one day we're just
- 37:20Speaker 1: gonna turn around and you know, all these streaming places
- 37:24Speaker 1: pages will be gone.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I hope. So for the artistic honestly.
- 37:29Speaker 1: We'll turn around and they'll be gone one day. Man.
- 37:31Speaker 1: You know, like like look at.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I think then motherfuckers really gotta try when they put
- 37:35Speaker 2: music out because it's gonna cost them to release music.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Right now, you can just throw some bullshit out and
- 37:39Speaker 2: see what happens, as opposed to being like, oh we
- 37:41Speaker 2: gotta get some ship pressed up.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, fuck like yeah, like fuck man. You know,
- 37:46Speaker 1: but it helps people out that doesn't don't really have budgets.
- 37:48Speaker 1: That's a good thing. But it's just you know, they
- 37:51Speaker 1: they pay us crumbs. They're making beans and dollars, you know,
- 37:54Speaker 1: and they're just you're paying us chrumebs man. You know,
- 37:57Speaker 1: I think I think one day. I think one day,
- 38:00Speaker 1: y'all let it change. So you know, to all the
- 38:02Speaker 1: artists out here, that's like, I'm not gonna put out
- 38:04Speaker 1: music because you know it's not making no money, and man,
- 38:07Speaker 1: just put it out because one day it'll make some money.
- 38:10Speaker 2: I think too. It's like, if you have any sort
- 38:13Speaker 2: of tribe that fucks with you, the music is like
- 38:17Speaker 2: an advertisement to get them to come spend money with you,
- 38:21Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like, whether it's on tour,
- 38:23Speaker 2: whether it's you got a merch store, whether you know
- 38:25Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like, yeah, the vinyl game is crack.
- 38:28Speaker 2: It's more crazy than it's ever been right now.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, they love it. You know they love it.
- 38:32Speaker 1: And you know, Clint Sparks told me some a few
- 38:35Speaker 1: years ago, shouty Clint Sparks. He told me, he was like,
- 38:41Speaker 1: you know a lot of these artists out here, you know,
- 38:43Speaker 1: older artists, he said, they focus on trying to make
- 38:47Speaker 1: a new sound and do what the younger kids doing,
- 38:49Speaker 1: but they forget they sat millions of OG fans that
- 38:53Speaker 1: still want to hear their old stuff.
- 38:55Speaker 2: The kids aren't gonna. Ice Cube sat in this chair
- 38:58Speaker 2: and I thank him because I was like, hey, man,
- 39:02Speaker 2: your new album sounds like an ice Cube album.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you for that. That's what you're own, that's
- 39:07Speaker 1: what you're want. Man. I grew up on New York music.
- 39:10Speaker 2: It's like, if I'm buying an ice Cube album, I
- 39:12Speaker 2: don't want to hear ice Cube, do Young Thug or
- 39:15Speaker 2: Future you know what I mean?
- 39:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I grew up on on on New York and
- 39:20Speaker 1: West Coast hip hop I was obviously that was always
- 39:22Speaker 1: here back in the day, you know, West Coast in
- 39:24Speaker 1: New York, and I grew up on both and I
- 39:28Speaker 1: miss you know, you can still turn on serious asm
- 39:32Speaker 1: and here they'll be playing like some some underground, straight
- 39:37Speaker 1: New York hip hop style songs that I shazam shazam
- 39:40Speaker 1: can't even find it right, you know, Like, but I
- 39:43Speaker 1: miss those old, old school, hard New York style hip
- 39:49Speaker 1: hop songs, you know, like I just miss them, man,
- 39:53Speaker 1: I miss them, you know, like the ship that that
- 39:56Speaker 1: you know, all these different dudes was doing back in
- 39:58Speaker 1: the day, like Eric being rock Cam, you know, ooh
- 40:00Speaker 1: and all that, and I just I miss it.

- 41:04Speaker 2: Can you give me a I feel like there was
- 41:08Speaker 2: this era where there was like all of these kind
- 41:11Speaker 2: of underrated movements happening at the same time. There was
- 41:14Speaker 2: a Ball and MJG. There was three six Mafia, there
- 41:17Speaker 2: was UGK. All you guys were semi major. You know,
- 41:21Speaker 2: I think UGK was on drive, but you and uh
- 41:25Speaker 2: you got classics with UGK, with pimps, You got any
- 41:29Speaker 2: because I always heard pimpsy was like a character character.
- 41:33Speaker 2: You got a crazy pimpsy story or just something, because
- 41:36Speaker 2: I feel like we don't talk about pimps enough. Man,
- 41:38Speaker 2: he's one of them.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Ones man, he more than ones man, like is so funy.
- 41:43Speaker 1: PIMPC called me after he got into that incident. You know,
- 41:46Speaker 1: he told me he was like, man, I just got
- 41:48Speaker 1: into some shit, man, like I was in the mall.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Bit drew a gun on me, you know, he said
- 41:53Speaker 1: a bit je gun on me. I do one on
- 41:55Speaker 1: up like she bully thing on him. He pull the
- 42:02Speaker 1: thing on her back. You know whatever, weld to whatever.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Thank god, nobody got hurt, you know, but pill was
- 42:09Speaker 1: my brother. Man. He told me a lot of stuff.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I was out, you know, I take to the grave,
- 42:12Speaker 1: but you know that was that was my guy. Man.
- 42:14Speaker 2: I heard he was super obsessed with cell phones before
- 42:18Speaker 2: he passed away. I heard he had like thirty phones,
- 42:20Speaker 2: like he had a gold eye for you. Like I
- 42:23Speaker 2: heard he had a cell phone thing.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I never knew that. I never knew that. I never
- 42:28Speaker 1: knew that. I believe it, though I believe it. I
- 42:30Speaker 1: knew he loved candles. He loved candles, but uh oh yeah,
- 42:35Speaker 1: I never knew that. The cell phone thing about it. I
- 42:37Speaker 1: probably never even noticed it, you know, because back in
- 42:40Speaker 1: those days, like Master P had a rule that you
- 42:44Speaker 1: couldn't even have a cell phone in the studio. Now,
- 42:47Speaker 1: I never went that far with it, but that's an
- 42:49Speaker 1: amazing rule to have. I wish those those would come back, anybody,
- 42:52Speaker 1: if you ever understood.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean even back then, that was before
- 42:55Speaker 2: there were cameras on phones too.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, like no cell phones in the studio, so
- 42:59Speaker 1: you know, that was kind of a thing back in
- 43:01Speaker 1: those days though, So I never seen pm C with
- 43:04Speaker 1: a cell phone, to be honest. When we was in
- 43:06Speaker 1: the Steel Man, we was you know, getting high and
- 43:09Speaker 1: drinking and kicking in. We was talking. Ain't nobody doing
- 43:11Speaker 1: this or doing that? Man, you didn't see a phone.
- 43:14Speaker 1: You had no reason to have a phone out.
- 43:17Speaker 2: When you guys were in the studio and U bun
- 43:19Speaker 2: Bee's doing the intro to sipping on scissor, which is
- 43:23Speaker 2: such an epic lead into this fucking banger. Are y'all
- 43:27Speaker 2: like hyping him up when he's on that like little
- 43:29Speaker 2: tangent that leads into the beginning of the.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Song I was so high. I don't even remember. I
- 43:34Speaker 1: just remember having a we had a wreck, and yeah
- 43:37Speaker 1: it was the whole thing. Man. But Pemse was he
- 43:42Speaker 1: was a he was a beast man resting the piece
- 43:44Speaker 1: of him. I miss him. I just you know, I
- 43:45Speaker 1: always think about, like if he was still around these days,
- 43:49Speaker 1: like you know, like what would he dress? Like? What
- 43:53Speaker 1: kind of car would he have? I know what kind
- 43:56Speaker 1: of car you got? He probably had like a raf
- 43:57Speaker 1: like a twodo. He loved coops. He probably had like
- 43:59Speaker 1: a too though on swings or something. And uh, I
- 44:03Speaker 1: always wondered what would he be, what would he be dressing?
- 44:05Speaker 3: Like?
- 44:05Speaker 1: What would he would have ever did the skinny jeans thing.
- 44:10Speaker 2: He probably have been called. He probably would have been
- 44:12Speaker 2: saying a lot of canceled, canceled.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Probably would have did the skinner jeans because two five
- 44:17Speaker 1: would like sextion nigga.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he would would have taken the shirt off with
- 44:20Speaker 2: skinny jeans. Pimps would have called everybody gay.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Probably I can't see him doing the skin jeans. No,
- 44:26Speaker 1: I don't think so, man, I can't see he probably
- 44:29Speaker 1: would have had him a little a little bit, a
- 44:31Speaker 1: little bit skinny because the only think you're bad at
- 44:34Speaker 1: that point, maybe a little bit skinny was a stomach
- 44:37Speaker 1: out in the mink coat on, but I don't think
- 44:40Speaker 1: he wouldn't have had him to to too tight.
- 44:43Speaker 2: If you think back to Sipping on Scissor, which is
- 44:46Speaker 2: a record that it kicked off the national people knowing
- 44:53Speaker 2: what this was because no one I mean outside of
- 44:54Speaker 2: the region and people who did it, it was not
- 44:56Speaker 2: a thing. And now if we think about every artist
- 44:59Speaker 2: that's had we see a lot like a whole generation
- 45:02Speaker 2: of rappers who either sip lean, currently are doing Lean,
- 45:07Speaker 2: have kicked the cup, have been addicted to lean.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Yeah, what is.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Your thoughts just on like lean culture as being kind
- 45:14Speaker 2: of the guy who first kind of brought it to
- 45:16Speaker 2: pop culture.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know I said this and then I
- 45:20Speaker 1: leave that that alone. But it's just it's a bad thing.
- 45:24Speaker 1: You know, it's a bad thing. You know. Like I remember,
- 45:27Speaker 1: I remember Lord Infamous overdosed on some lean. We was
- 45:31Speaker 1: on tour and guys would be giving us, you know, lean,
- 45:35Speaker 1: giving us bars a Lean. I remember Lord Infamous overdose
- 45:38Speaker 1: on lean. We was doing the Ryan Spinner's video. He
- 45:43Speaker 1: they took him to the airport in Atlanta. I mean
- 45:45Speaker 1: a hospital in Atlanta, and you know he lived. Obviously,
- 45:48Speaker 1: he was good. He just was drinking all of the
- 45:50Speaker 1: CRP while we was on our Femi in the video
- 45:53Speaker 1: Ryan Spinner, he was drinking SYRP on you know, hit
- 45:58Speaker 1: everybody spot ash and you know, overdose. They had taken
- 46:03Speaker 1: him on the helicopter and all us and you know,
- 46:05Speaker 1: the next day we picked him up from the hospital
- 46:07Speaker 1: and he was totally fine. And he was like, you
- 46:10Speaker 1: know who I saw in the hospital, like they hit
- 46:13Speaker 1: him into like the little room where you were recovering
- 46:15Speaker 1: and you sober enough whatever, he said. I said, who riggy?
- 46:18Speaker 1: He said, Bobby Brown, I like what. I like, that's
- 46:23Speaker 1: fucking fantastic. Were dealing with the same ship, something like
- 46:30Speaker 1: what an exchanged, like nights the night before nights like this.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I care. It's a crazy night.
- 46:36Speaker 1: You know. The SERP took out a lot of people,
- 46:38Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, you know a lot
- 46:40Speaker 1: of people. I wouldn't We don't even really know if
- 46:42Speaker 1: it was what it was or what it was, but
- 46:45Speaker 1: I just put it like this, man, I leave it alone.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Don't do cert it's bad for you. Don't don't do
- 46:50Speaker 1: no drugs. Be honest with you. I don't do no drugs.
- 46:53Speaker 1: I'm telling a half your sober right now.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Nothing nothing, congratulations man.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Was there something that kind of made you just be
- 47:01Speaker 2: like all right, man, it's it's time. I got it.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Yeah. It's called living. Yeah, that was it. I was like,
- 47:06Speaker 1: you want to live? Do you not want to live?
- 47:08Speaker 1: And I was like, I chose living.
- 47:09Speaker 2: What was your Like, I guess you're pick your poison.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Was it drinking? Was it X?
- 47:14Speaker 1: What was it was drinking?
- 47:15Speaker 2: Drinking?
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was drinking. I never got in the pills,
- 47:18Speaker 1: thank god. You know. I dibbled and dabble with a
- 47:20Speaker 1: a C like once and I was just in a
- 47:21Speaker 1: hotel room chewing on a pillow all night, hot chick
- 47:25Speaker 1: next to me, and I was like, damn, I thought
- 47:26Speaker 1: this ship was making horn. It just makes one listen.
- 47:29Speaker 2: The one time I did see I went through the
- 47:31Speaker 2: same thing. I was like, this girl was sucking my
- 47:33Speaker 2: dad and I literally was like, yeah, I need you
- 47:36Speaker 2: to chill. I need this. I'm grinding my fucking teeth.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I'm fucking the latest fuck.
- 47:40Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, I'm chilling on a pillow this hot che.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I know why these motherfuckers got mouth cards and it
- 47:49Speaker 2: raves because my teeth, Like, I'm fucking psyched.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Bro.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I was like, this is I never did it again
- 47:54Speaker 1: out there that was like the nineties. I was like, now,
- 47:56Speaker 1: fuck this, I don't want this ship.
- 47:58Speaker 2: You know, alcohol is it's the it's the biggest drug though.
- 48:01Speaker 1: You know, it's a big one.
- 48:02Speaker 2: It's a big one and you and you become depending
- 48:04Speaker 2: on it because it kind of becomes like a crutch
- 48:06Speaker 2: for you socially, like if you're out with your homies,
- 48:08Speaker 2: I'll take a drink, yeah, or if you go to
- 48:11Speaker 2: a party, like you know, because it's so easy. It's
- 48:13Speaker 2: so easy.
- 48:14Speaker 1: It's so easy. You know, you can get it anywhere,
- 48:16Speaker 1: like I'm sure you got balls and.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:20Speaker 1: It's like and if I was still drinking, I would
- 48:21Speaker 1: that would have been the first thing I would ask
- 48:23Speaker 1: you for when I walked in here.
- 48:24Speaker 2: If you ever have liquor in the gasoline? Can you
- 48:26Speaker 2: would be you just have the gas the.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Gas drinking, Yeah, liquor in that or some beer.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Or something, yeah, to be I love beer.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I love I missed. I don't miss alcohol, just the
- 48:36Speaker 1: card alcohol, freezing cold beer. I miss a cold beer.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I miss a corona.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Nothing like a ice cold corona.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I miss a corona. But I drink the non
- 48:46Speaker 1: alcoholic coronas and they taste just like it.
- 48:48Speaker 2: They don't taste bad.
- 48:50Speaker 1: That tastes good. And I drink the Heineken Zeros, which
- 48:52Speaker 1: the Honeken Zeros taste better than the regular Hende because
- 48:55Speaker 1: because I hated Heineg, I.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Got some Asian homies that love the Heineken Zeros.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Asians love Heinekens, by the way. I don't know if
- 49:01Speaker 2: people know that's a thing.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Really.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Asian motherfuckers love They love Remy and they
- 49:05Speaker 2: love Heineken Dog. They love that brown being the Mese homies,
- 49:09Speaker 2: Heineken and fucking Remy Martine. If you're the goat of
- 49:13Speaker 2: all goats, who is your goat?
- 49:17Speaker 1: J L L coo J. I love it, man, man,
- 49:21Speaker 1: I love el COO J Man. You know, like he's
- 49:24Speaker 1: done everything in life that I want to do or
- 49:27Speaker 1: have tried to do, and you know he's he's did
- 49:31Speaker 1: uh l L was one of those dudes that could
- 49:35Speaker 1: you know, he could be the hard motherfucker come in here,
- 49:37Speaker 1: kick all of my ass, and but he can also
- 49:41Speaker 1: be funny at the same time.
- 49:42Speaker 2: And do the fucking sitcom.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he can be funny and he can play a
- 49:46Speaker 1: cop and can do this, he can do that, and he.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Can destroy you in a battle the next round and
- 49:52Speaker 2: then the next single.
- 49:55Speaker 1: I'm talking about why licking his tongue out and being
- 49:57Speaker 1: sexy with a beat you in a rap battle like
- 50:00Speaker 1: l L is just He's just that dude. Obviously, I
- 50:02Speaker 1: had a lot of goats Easy E. You know what
- 50:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. I probably owe my whole career to Easy.
- 50:07Speaker 1: But you know, Easy And.
- 50:09Speaker 2: What about who would you say is your guys or
- 50:12Speaker 2: your biggest influence in terms of like hip hop moguls,
- 50:15Speaker 2: because you guys, like I said earlier, you guys were
- 50:18Speaker 2: very much independent juggernauts in the nineties.
- 50:22Speaker 1: They would come from Easy. Easy was independent, ruthless, ruthless
- 50:27Speaker 1: and uh and a little j rap a lot. And
- 50:32Speaker 1: that's why back in the day you would see our albums.
- 50:34Speaker 1: It was saying Hymnotized Minds Presents against the Boo or
- 50:37Speaker 1: Project Pad.
- 50:38Speaker 2: It was like, very like, we have to brand this,
- 50:40Speaker 2: we have to right.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I got that from them. Ruthless record presents a lot rap,
- 50:44Speaker 1: a lot record presents this girl, this dude, Willy D
- 50:48Speaker 1: blah blah blah, Like I remember Will D was solo
- 50:50Speaker 1: and he wasn't even with together balls. It was hard
- 50:52Speaker 1: as hell. Yeah, crazy yeah, So yeah that my independent
- 50:58Speaker 1: side came from watching them.
- 51:01Speaker 2: What about your goat lyricists? Bars only?
- 51:04Speaker 1: What about it?
- 51:05Speaker 2: What about your goat lyrics?
- 51:06Speaker 1: Lyrics?
- 51:07Speaker 2: Bars only? Bars don't got to be record sales nothing.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I'm talking about this lyrically.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Lyrically, Uh, Yellow, yellow Man yelling buck, yelling buck. Because
- 51:17Speaker 1: they two different sizes. I'm gonna give my my Black's.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Got to be another. You guys have done these records together.
- 51:23Speaker 2: You guys have got to do a little truth. I mean,
- 51:25Speaker 2: you got obviously the Slamafia album, and you gotta put
- 51:28Speaker 2: them on songs together, you guys. You guys should do
- 51:30Speaker 2: ten song joint or something that cask You're on the
- 51:33Speaker 2: Caskie album, the Caski album. Me, but I was that
- 51:35Speaker 2: black sheep.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Oh my god. Yeah. I think Yellow is is like
- 51:40Speaker 1: he's an alien. Yeah he don't. I don't think he
- 51:42Speaker 1: get all the credit that he deserves. I agreefully, yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 1: because he's.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Him and rits Man Ritz is incredible to man.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and u uh yeah yeah, Rich shot Rich.
- 51:53Speaker 1: But the thing about Yellow is, you know, like he's he's, he's,
- 52:01Speaker 1: he's he got one thing that's really really great about
- 52:05Speaker 1: him that that actually I hate. It's really really great,
- 52:12Speaker 1: but I hate it. But it's a good thing though,
- 52:14Speaker 1: It's a good hate. He is so into his art
- 52:19Speaker 1: more than any artists I've ever seen in my life.
- 52:22Speaker 1: And I've worked with Ludacris, two Chains, Drake, I don't
- 52:26Speaker 1: work with the best of the best, and Yella is
- 52:30Speaker 1: the type of dude that we can go in and
- 52:32Speaker 1: make a whole album right now, and if he wake
- 52:34Speaker 1: up tomorrow and he don't like that album, that I
- 52:37Speaker 1: will never see the light of day. He not gonna
- 52:39Speaker 1: put out nothing just to be putting somewhere. He is
- 52:42Speaker 1: so into the art, not saying that those other dudes
- 52:45Speaker 1: will do that, because obviously all those guys drinking, all
- 52:47Speaker 1: those guys put out, you know.
- 52:50Speaker 2: The way for the sake of the art.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Boy. Now, I don't give us flying back and forth
- 52:54Speaker 1: to Nashville first class flights, twenty five hundred here, twenty
- 52:58Speaker 1: five hundred death. We did seven videos. He never brought
- 53:01Speaker 1: up one of them out. Yeah, it was a black
- 53:05Speaker 1: Fall I.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Was, but by the way that please will put the
- 53:09Speaker 2: fucking Black Fall videos out for fox sake? Yeah yeah,
- 53:12Speaker 2: bro please, But he put it on DSPs like right now.
- 53:15Speaker 1: If you go on his Instagram you'll see that. Uh.
- 53:18Speaker 1: He only got four four photos up there, and one
- 53:21Speaker 1: of them is my album. Thank god. I was lucky
- 53:24Speaker 1: to get that. But he when he's starting a new project,
- 53:30Speaker 1: it's a full rollout. Everything in his past must go.
- 53:34Speaker 2: Well. That's why he had that month where he was
- 53:39Speaker 2: dropping like an maybe it was a month or he
- 53:41Speaker 2: was dropping like an album a month. He dropped the
- 53:42Speaker 2: album with You, he dropped the riff Raff album.
- 53:44Speaker 1: He dropped the one would beat be uh out here?
- 53:47Speaker 2: He dropped four projects.
- 53:49Speaker 1: When my gout from a from Cypress Hill did he
- 53:53Speaker 1: he did I'll Be Real, the dj.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Oh mugs he did the mugs out.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:58Speaker 2: I was like, Yo, this is very unre I was
- 54:01Speaker 2: on that one. Like when CASKI got that album out
- 54:04Speaker 2: with all the videos to come out with it. I
- 54:06Speaker 2: was like, bro, Wolf must really fuck with you, dog
- 54:08Speaker 2: because the fact he let you kind of take the
- 54:10Speaker 2: reins creatively with these videos. Yeah, and y'all put them
- 54:13Speaker 2: all out.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that ships, that's it's not that's not by accident.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Yeah, they got a chemistry.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Yo.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Do you do you remember one for like a whole
- 54:25Speaker 1: year he only posted black and white pictures, Yeah, of course. Yeah,
- 54:30Speaker 1: and then he took all of those down and then
- 54:33Speaker 1: he changes hair red and then it was just a pictures.
- 54:35Speaker 2: He's got a lot of errors. He's got a lot
- 54:38Speaker 2: of aesthetic errors. Yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'd just be like, dude, fuck man, like
- 54:43Speaker 1: stop us. But you know, it's it's it's so creative
- 54:47Speaker 1: and it's such a it's such a a great thing.
- 54:49Speaker 1: He's he's just so serious with his art, like he
- 54:52Speaker 1: just he don't he don't play with it at all.
- 54:54Speaker 1: And I've never seen anybody like that.
- 54:56Speaker 2: You end up doing this record and producing this record
- 54:59Speaker 2: for Drake?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 55:01Speaker 2: Can you explain how does this happen? Hoe ends up
- 55:04Speaker 2: on the project? What is the genesis of you and
- 55:08Speaker 2: Drake connecting outside? I believe his dad came up in Memphis.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Right, His dad's from Memphis. Yeah, his dad shout out
- 55:13Speaker 1: his dad. Uh uh. His dad is one of the
- 55:16Speaker 1: one still one of my close friends. Like I'm closer
- 55:19Speaker 1: to his dad and Drake.
- 55:21Speaker 2: His dad is the kind of guy who if you
- 55:23Speaker 2: go out enough in l A, you're saying, you've had
- 55:25Speaker 2: to have seen Dennis Graham. Yeah, you see Dennis Graham,
- 55:29Speaker 2: but there was a certain time you see you everywhere.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but yes, Dennis, Dennis loved Dennis loved Delilahs, Delilahs.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there's like four or five celebrities that if you
- 55:41Speaker 2: go out enough in l A, you're gonna run into
- 55:43Speaker 2: the guy who plays the Black Power ranger. You're gonna
- 55:45Speaker 2: run into ot Genesis. You know, you're running the DJ
- 55:50Speaker 2: Paul and Drake's dad.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Drake's dad. Now, you won't run the DJ Paul nowhere.
- 55:55Speaker 1: But but so basically I had this beat me and
- 56:00Speaker 1: my artist Tea I produced and it was gonna be
- 56:03Speaker 1: for my album. So on this album I talk about
- 56:07Speaker 1: the gold of all Ghost albums that I talk about
- 56:10Speaker 1: how it took seven years to make this album, and
- 56:13Speaker 1: it was because when I was first starting on this album,
- 56:17Speaker 1: we was first starting on this album twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen,
- 56:23Speaker 1: that was gonna be one of the first beats that
- 56:25Speaker 1: I used. And I ended up flying to Nashville to
- 56:31Speaker 1: produce some stuff for Yellow Wolfs and I was staying
- 56:34Speaker 1: over my brother's house at that time, and like three
- 56:37Speaker 1: in the morning, I got a DM that said call me,
- 56:41Speaker 1: I need some beats. Excuse me, I need some beats
- 56:45Speaker 1: and it said Champagne Poppy and I was like, I
- 56:47Speaker 1: think this is Drake, but I don't know. But he
- 56:49Speaker 1: had at the time three million followers. Yeah, it was
- 56:52Speaker 1: way more than that. Now I was and I called him.
- 56:56Speaker 1: I called a number and yeah, it really was Drake
- 56:58Speaker 1: and he's like, you know, send me something like two
- 57:00Speaker 1: weeks to turn in this album. So I sent him
- 57:02Speaker 1: the beat that me and T had and he takes
- 57:06Speaker 1: me right back and he said I'm using it, and
- 57:08Speaker 1: I was like really, I was like, wow, that was
- 57:10Speaker 1: that was easy?
- 57:11Speaker 2: Uh.
- 57:13Speaker 1: I was like okay and uh. And then I didn't
- 57:16Speaker 1: hear back from him no more. And then like two
- 57:18Speaker 1: weeks had passed, and I was like, I don't want
- 57:22Speaker 1: to blow him up. I mean, I do want to
- 57:24Speaker 1: blow him up, but I'm not going to blow him
- 57:25Speaker 1: up because I'm a Capricorn and we don't do that.
- 57:28Speaker 1: So I just shot him a taste. I was like, hey,
- 57:31Speaker 1: you're still gonna use that beat because I was gonna
- 57:33Speaker 1: use it if he wasn't. And he was like, yeah,
- 57:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna use it. And I already use it, and
- 57:37Speaker 1: I put jay Z on it and I'm like what
- 57:39Speaker 1: And I'm looking at the phone like what jay Z?
- 57:42Speaker 1: Like holy fuck? Because obviously jay Z is another king
- 57:45Speaker 1: of course, and I was like goddamn. And they put
- 57:49Speaker 1: it out and you know, LA's radio was playing the
- 57:51Speaker 1: hell out of it when it first came out, and
- 57:53Speaker 1: this and that, and I was like, wow, you know,
- 57:57Speaker 1: I had I met Drake's mother and theihborhood that I
- 58:00Speaker 1: was living in, and I met Drake's mom, and you know,
- 58:03Speaker 1: she thought that I was really cool and really nice guy.
- 58:06Speaker 1: She told him and then he reached out to me,
- 58:08Speaker 1: and you know, that's why he can't burn bridges. And
- 58:10Speaker 1: you gotta watch how you treat people, because what if
- 58:13Speaker 1: I would have been addicted?
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yesh, I'm not.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Addicted nobody now, but you never know, yeah, you just
- 58:18Speaker 1: never know.
- 58:19Speaker 2: That's true.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Then it ended up turning into that that ended up
- 58:23Speaker 1: on the Scorpio album, which I think is like.
- 58:25Speaker 2: I think that's Drake's in my opinion, that's my my
- 58:28Speaker 2: last like really favorite Drake album.
- 58:30Speaker 1: I love that albums here's the albums had like eight million,
- 58:32Speaker 1: eight times platinum, ten times platinum or something like. We
- 58:35Speaker 1: sold so many compets of that albums. A great album
- 58:38Speaker 1: to be a part of. It had that that God
- 58:40Speaker 1: song on.
- 58:40Speaker 2: It had it had Yeah, God's Plan. God's Plan was
- 58:44Speaker 2: on there. It's the biggest song ever.
- 58:46Speaker 1: It's one of the biggest.
- 58:47Speaker 2: I mean, it's incredible album. What was it like being
- 58:51Speaker 2: the Memphis Group on Loud Records at a certain point
- 58:55Speaker 2: in time where Loud Records is the home of Wu
- 58:57Speaker 2: Tang Clan Big pun exhibit.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Uh, I mean there was everybody, man, they had everybody.
- 59:04Speaker 1: You know, it was a it was a blessing because
- 59:07Speaker 1: you know, Steve, Steve Rifkin man you know still today.
- 59:11Speaker 1: My brother just talked to him a couple of days ago.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Great great guy. And Steve was so rich. He's still rich,
- 59:18Speaker 1: but Steve was so rich then that anything Man Juicy
- 59:22Speaker 1: wanted he would be like, give it to him. You know.
- 59:24Speaker 1: He he's so laid back. Yeah, and he'd just been like,
- 59:27Speaker 1: you know, whatever the guys want, whatever you guys want,
- 59:29Speaker 1: and you know he just you know, he just supported
- 59:32Speaker 1: us so so much, man, you know, like because we
- 59:35Speaker 1: started off with Relativity and then we got sent to
- 59:39Speaker 1: a Loud record. All of it was Columbia Son. At
- 59:41Speaker 1: the end of the day, they ended up putting us
- 59:43Speaker 1: with Loud Records and Relativity was great, you know, Cliff
- 59:46Speaker 1: Contrary all those guys. But when we got with Loud,
- 59:49Speaker 1: it was just you know, game changing, like the staff
- 59:53Speaker 1: he had and you know, Liz and everybody that was
- 59:55Speaker 1: working for him.
- 59:57Speaker 2: That that was it was the first album with him.
- 59:59Speaker 2: When this more clears, I think so yeah, and that
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: was that was the album. I feel like that popped
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: you guys in a different way.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so, you know, they was just they was getting
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: behind us like crazy, and you know, he was so
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: cool and oh it was it was you know, I
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: didn't really even notice the thing about how many New
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: York artists was on there, because you know, I think
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I think Bone Night was on there. I know Bone
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: was on Relativity. I don't think Bone was Bone wasn't
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: they weren't allowed, but they was on Relativity.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: They were on Ruthless and then I mean I think
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: after that they were on Ruthless though.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but they was on I think Relativity put some
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: stuff out.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: They probably maybe I think on lap No Deaf Jamis
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: who put out the Flesh and Bone album.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, but they did. They did some stuff
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: with Relativity at one point, I think, but you know,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: they they had, uh, they had a bunch of different artists.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: But I think the good part about us being the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: only group that they had from the South gave you know,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: gave them was a mission for them, but a cool mission.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: You know. Sometimes you look for these things that you
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: think would be hard to do, and you you challenge
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: those things, you go right after those things. That's happened
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: with me a lot in my career, well, a lot
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: of people to be like, you know, like I want
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: to take this, you know, this this this Paul project
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: or this three Sis might be project because you know
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: it's the South and everybody else is scared to touch it.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I want to touch it because everybody else is scared
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: to touch it, you know like, And I think that
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: was he was just he was he was happy to
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: take on that project and and get behind Three's Mafia
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: so much because I don't think he had nobody else
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: from the South until he formed s r C and he.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Got banner the Mississippi album.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's I don't I can't think anybody else
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: from the South, the leaks he had exhibit, but yeah,
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: not from the South. Whose idea was it to take
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Triple six Mafia and make it more palatable for the
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: god fearing folk and make it three six Mafia a
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: nice medium?
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: It was kind of all of our ideas. It was
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: kind of all ideas. I think I kind of I
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: think I possibly thought of the three six Mafia, but
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: it was kind of I thought of trip. I made
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Triple six Mafia name. Yeah, I made that name from
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: from Lord Offamos, a rap that Lord Evermos had, And
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: I think that when we it was time for us
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: to bring out the album, you know, we all wasn't
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: decided that, you know, Triple six Mafia is not gonna fly.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: You know, first thing we said was like, man, we
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: ever nominated for an award? Did you know they're not
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: gonna want to set this name. They're not gonna even
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: nominate us. You know, obviously we didn't think we was
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: gonna ever be nominated.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: For it, let alone win.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, we was thinking ahead of time,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: and I just thought it was a good move and
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: and we ended up doing the people used asked it'd
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: be like what other three six Manthiel mean. I'd be
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: like this my old football number.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Exactly what the people who didn't know, Yeah, we played football.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: I was thirty six, Yeah, thirty six football. Hey man,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Raffi Law Group new a sponsor the Bootleg Cap Podcast.

- 1:04:18Speaker 2: into an accident. Six two, three, three, eight eight forty
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: three thirty three. Let's get back to the podcast. You
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: guys have a lot of history with WWE. Uh are
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: you hip to this new guy, Trick Williams. No, so,
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Trick Williams. When he comes out the crowd yells. I
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: did say that he is like the most popping new
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: dude in all the rest of it every time he
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: comes out of the crowd. That is crazy.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: That's so fun, man, man, WWE Man, that was that
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: was a fun experience.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: You guys have the Mark Henry record, the Mark Henry
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Entrance song.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they still play that song, still play Yeah, I
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: know it still on the games because they always they
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: still clear it with us but I don't know if
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: it's on the show.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Did you guys like work with Mark Henry on that,
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Like did he give you notes or did they just
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: pick it? Like, how'd that come out?
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: It was one It was one guy that made all
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: of the beats for w W.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: He still is the guy, but I think he's still there. Yeah,
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: that's so fire, what a great job, what a legend. Yeah,
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: so he made all of the beats. So he sent
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: us that beat and then you know, we just wrote
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: the song to it. Juicy came up with the hook,
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: and we just wrote the song to it.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: And now it's gonna be just it's it's forever. It's
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: like a forever wrestling lord like Mark Henry will always
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: get a pop Like.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw Mark Henry last year at the airport
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: in Minneapolis. Yeah, that's super nice appen.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: You guys are big movie buffs Choices one and two.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Is there any plans to try to get those on
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: DSPs or get on Netflix?
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been talking about that. I gotta get it up.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Like we could get it on TV or something Amazon Prime.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Yeah. I need to be on all that. I need
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: to be on all that. I'm finna get back into movies. Man,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: I love movies.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I mean I think back to like, It's funny because
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: when you guys put out The Unbreakables, I was like, oh,
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: they know ball that was like a people don't know
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: the movie. Unbreakable was very slept on at the time
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: with Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson not all. It was
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: like a cult favorite kind of at the time. So
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: when you guys put down it was like, Oh, these guys,
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: these guys know good movies.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: It's a good movie. But you know a movie that
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I've never seen by him was The Sixth Sense. I've
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: never seen that movie.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's the same same director and everything. Yeah,
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: did you watch the because after the Unbreakables there was.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I watched the whole Yeah, I watched it.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: There's like two or three, Yeah, there's I think there's
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: three total.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I watched one of them. I watched the one
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: with the dude was crawling like animal.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Or what what would you say is your favorite type
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: of movie?
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Uh, thriller thriller, so like a horror thriller type.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Of the don't have to be hard, just like, oh, thriller, suspense.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: So what's your favorite movie of all time. My favorite
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: movie off the top of your head, obviously not you
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: know what comes to mind, Scarface. I got the poster
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: right there.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Everybody got this post.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: That my boy gifted, that one that's like a og
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: one from like the eighties.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I got this post. Yeah. I had this whole
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: thing painted on the door in my house. One door
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: was the black side and the other door was the
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: white side. And I had diamonds on his diamond necklace
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: that I added on him. Yo, I saw that door
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: with the house.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: When I saw that house, there was that early two
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: thousand's uh point in time where like a whole generation
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: of kids discovered Scarface and the video game came out
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: and every wrapper had Scarface teasing.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like the thing got second. And then
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: there's Belly, which you know is pretty much the same poster. Yeah,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: I love BELLI super Belly's. I always say Belly is
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: the best worst movie ever.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: I didn't see nothing bad about that movie. I love
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: everything about it.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I love everything about it too. But in theory, it's
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: like it's like a smoothie of all of the gangster
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: movies we all like just combined. Yah, Hype Williams needs
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: to make another movie because aesthetically, visually one of the
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: dopest movies ever.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Some of those scenes are CRAZYX was just a great
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: actor man.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: Unlike Nas.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Nas was Nas.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: He was like, y'all want to go to Africa? Do
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: you make that his part?
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Though not because Nas Sincere, he he he played the
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: He played the part that he needed to play.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: You don't want to play himself in the movie.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what Jason, what they want.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: He played Tommy Tommy. And then there was Sincere, who
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: was just nots Yeah.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Nas Nas played his I think Nos did go
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: because he he played his part. Like you got some actors.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: We got a lot of actors out here that that
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: they be the same person in every movie, and then
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: they kind of know Jackson, yeah, Sam with Jason kind
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: of not looking at the Spike Lee movie. At first
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Spike Lee move way, he played a cranckhead. It was
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: totally different from men of this other one.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: Yes, I feel like the meat and potatoes of his run.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: He was very much like where he was the face
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: of the movie. Like obviously he's Mace Window and Star Wars,
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: which is different. He's like the man different. But when
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: he's like the main guy.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but you gotta look at it like this a
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: lot of times, because I've wrote movies before, and a
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: lot of time when you write these movies, just like
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: writing a song, you kind of write for some here,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: the feature or the actor that you won't own there.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: So you like when they writing this movie, they're like, man,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I want a ship talking old black man, many old
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: shit talking like Kevin Hart is Freeman, not gonna do it.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Kevin Heurt's the same guy in every movie.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Kevin Hart, the same guy.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Adam Sandler kind of the same guy and everybody.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: But they won't. They It's not saying that, you know,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Kevin Hart is not a good actor. He's a good actor.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: It's just that's what they want.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: People like Kevin Hart. He's a likable guy. They want
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: to see Kevin.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Hevin Hard to be to be that. But Kevin Hart
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: have done some other stuff too, because somebody I haven't
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: got a chance to catch it, but somebody told me
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: about another show that he had on TV or a
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: movie or something. I think it was a movie.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: He did a movie where he was like helping some
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: handicap dud.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: It was like he was totally different than that he
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: wasn't good though I didn't see it, but I don't know.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: But so he can do he can, he can, he can,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: he can do it. It's just like when you when
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: you looking for that particular kind of character, you pray
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: and hope that this actor is available to do that part.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: And to do that part, you gonna tell them on
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: the set, look, I want you to be as as
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Kevin Hart as possible, or as Samuel Jackson as possible.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Speaking of Samuel Jackson, they told me Sammy Jackson when
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: he was doing those movies with Craig Brewer, I think,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: like Black Snake mong They said he can look at
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: the script like one time, like I don't.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: I just know it.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he got like a super good memory or something.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Probably you know what. You know what movie? I fucked
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: with it? Everyone hated it or thought it was I
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Love Snakes on a Plane. Man imakes on this motherfucking plane.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I'm saying I've never seen the whole movie,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: but the director of that is a home alle man.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: I saw it back in the day, but it's just
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: like I was so high and drunk at the time.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I don't really really remember it, but I watched it
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: because I wanted to support because it was like a
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: really popular black movie at that time. It had Snoop
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: and all these dudes in there. But I need to
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: watch it again. The sober me need to go back
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: and watch a lot of these movies. To be honest
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: with you.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: You have see the six on the Projectpew, which is
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: your nephew's who I'm a.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Son is a little infamous, and then Loco done it
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: is my brother's son. And man, they hard man, you know,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: like people need to pay attention to them. Man, they's
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: super super hard man.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they've been active and doing their thing.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: What is it like to just kind of have that
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: kind of like lineage where you have like yeah, I
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: mean they're following in your guys' foot steps.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I want, you know, Like I teach
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: him a lot, you know, like Loco has you know,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: uh come and stay you know, months years at my house.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: You know. I teach him everything because I want him,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: you know, to come up. I want I want to
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: leave it to him because my kids ain't into music,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: like right, So Loco was like not you know son
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: for the most part, and that in this music business,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: and you know, like I want to see them them
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: dudes come up, you know, I want to see little
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Demus lived the life that his daddy didn't get a
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: chance to live and you know, and reap the benefits
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: from from you know, it's a.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Seat for sure. Can you talk speak to it?
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: I only got to meet gangsterbo once and it was
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: a Yellow Wolf trunk music. He had like a release
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: party here in l A. And I met her that
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: he did it at a little bar and h this
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: was when him and mg K got on that album
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: together for the first time, like after they squashed their beef.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: But she was so nice, man, Yeah, she really really
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: cool until you pissed off. You pissed off, it was
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: all hell. But but yeah, she was she was super
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: super super super nice man. You know, like she was
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: a game changer. You know, she was a game changer.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: You know, she was she was. She brought something to
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: the South. Obviously we had me and X right, you know,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: but Gasa bo was different from uh from me X
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: megs super super hard, but gaisabout was was different. I
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: don't I don't remember me X being as freaky as
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Boo was on the records.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you're probably spot on there. I think
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: No Limit had the Mercedes chick who did the freaky talk.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Yeah she was a freaking yeah was more like she's
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: still hot.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Yeah for sure. I remember that album cover over rear end. Yes,
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: great album. Spent him alone time with that advertisement as
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: a kid, for sure.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So but but yeah, but was just doing she
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: was just because she was raised by you know, all
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: us dudes. You know she would talk about that too.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: She'd be like, you know what y'all expect, like.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Like inquiring minds. Man, such a great album.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna steal with all these foods every day, right,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: That's what That's what she what she did, man, rest
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: of these guys, I hate that. I hate that happened. Man.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, she's she's a legend, man. I just want to
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: give her her flower shots against the buo man. So
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: go to ball goots. Is this something? Obviously it took
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: you seven years to make this project. You got the
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: battery in your back to like keep putting out solo stuff.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: You have a lot of clod projects. We just talked
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: about you and that stuff.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: So yeah, I want to make another solo album, but
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: I probably bring it out next year. I'm gonna make
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: an instrumental album that I'm gonna bring out this year.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: In the solo album, I mean, it's Paul and Freddy album,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: and I'm gonna finally finish up this Paul and Crazybone
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: album Fire and Paul and Young Buck finally put that out,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: and I know Paul a.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Little White, so the noo Little White New like.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: New Crazy Bone, Freddy Gibbs, Young Buck and a DJ
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Paul an instrumental I want to bring on an instrumental album.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I've been wanting to do that forever.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Why don't you just I mean, I mean, obviously do
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: an instrumental album because then you can kind of tell
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: story musically. But I feel like anytime you drop an album,
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: you should also drop the instrumental version. Yeah sure, yeah,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: why not? Like there should be the go to, go
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: to instrumental version, so you get to let motherfuckers wrap
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: over your shit, you know.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Yeah all the streams count yeah shit, yeah, which they
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: do really good. Because I beforeto album came out, I
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: brought out a song called from the Bottom of the Bottom,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: and then I put out an instrument of it, and
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: people are like, man, I just ride to this instrument
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: all the time. You know, it's like feel good kind
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: of music, these piano chords that I played on there.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: And what is out of all those collab projects we
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: just talked about, is there is there something that's coming
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: you know for sure? Like first out of those, Like
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: is the Crazy Bone thing the thing that the first.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: One they eat? The Crazy or the Young Bug one
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: of those two of the first because I've been working
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: on those the longest.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I think it'd be dope too if you and Don
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Tripp did a.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Whole project, Don Trump, Yeah, yeah, well.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: Trips dope star leader on Trip.

- 1:16:15Speaker 1: to be honest, bro.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: No, obviously I know Leo and Don Trip. Yeah, obviously
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: leaders from Nashville.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I never really meant needing one of them.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: You got Tennessee legends.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Man. I started leader once before at the bt Wolves
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: twenty years ago or whatever, but I never I know.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: I don't think I might have met Don Trip. I
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: really don't remember that. I think it was juice. It
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: was really really.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: They're going crazy independently right now, like doing their thing.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: I feel like you're pretty Yeah, they're definitely tough man
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: is there something because I feel like you you you
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: also do a lot of sampling like you you can
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: get in your sampling bag. Was there ever a record
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: that you had to change the beat where it never
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: came out because you can't clear the sample? Mm hmm.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I had to think maybe, I'm sure it was. I
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: had to think probably was. Who knows you.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I feel like if you could do if you and
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Wolf ever do like a black Fall, like real follow.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Up, I wish you would have put that album out
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: through through Shady Shady.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I wish you guys would have did it because
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: it was only four songs. I wish you guys would
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: have did ten of those fucking things. Yeah, crazy, I
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: think those are bro production wise, with some of your
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: hardest beats you've every done.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that was me and my eyest to you, I
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: did those crazy. You only got a new project he
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: just sent me the other day. That's that's really dope
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: forty five. You heard about this project. It's like it's
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: mature project. Okay, Yeah, it's like it ain't. It's kind
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: of like singing, kind of rapping kind of thing, but
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: it's it's so hard, bro, so hard. They sent me
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: a link to the list of the other day. I
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: was like, Wow, this is amazing. Man.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Album is out Vinyl hopefully coming soon.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: Violent CDs, Violent CD's coming out. Man, go get the album,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: go to ball Goes. Look, I'm telling you this album
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: is so hard. Look when I said it took me
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: seven years to make it, it was you're gonna hear
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: it in.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: There, and you got big boogie on here, big boogie.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: And now you're merging the two generations of Memphis. Man, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: it's gotta be.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: I got Juice of Fruit on there too, which is
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: female Memphis, you know, young Memphis. So like, y'all check
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: out Juice Fruit. I'll have it. But you know, the
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: albums from from front to back. You know, Acon's on there,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: a lot of people on there. From front to back.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: The album is just it's killing.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: All right, man. So you know I say this too.
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to the Crazy Bone album because for
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: people who don't know you, you Bone Thugs and three
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: six had a little, yeah, little thing back in the day.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: We had to think a few years ago on verses,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: but we was always friends.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Though the verses was interesting. Yeah, busy, it would have
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: been Busy Bone by the way who would have escalated things?
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Yeah, because he had to do it. That was he
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: started it before we even we even went into the verses.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: I what do you mean happened?
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: So we I started off all up, so verses came
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: like us. First, it was gonna be a thing called
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: the face Off with me and Crazy Ball. We were
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: just gonna do it on your own, on our own,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: on social media, right on social media. And then we
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: had a schedule, we had flyers made and all that,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: and about five minutes before we were supposed to go live, Uh,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Crazy Ball didn't go live, and I was like, oh,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: what's going on? And uh? And he was like, I
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: talked to Swiss Beach because they had they knew Swiss Beach.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: I knew Switch Beach as well, but they put out
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: a project through Switch Beast.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: He had an album Hustling Flow or No Strengthen Loyalty
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: was what it was called it.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know that, so so I called him
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: like what's going on? He was like, I talked to
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Swiss Beasts and he said they want to put it
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: on a versus and they're gonna pay us to do it. Yeah,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: big money too, I might add, So I was like, all,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: fuck it, we ain't gonna do it. So it started off,
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: you know, friendly, like I was like, oh yeah, we're
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: finish students for the culture, celebrate the culture. Three sis
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: my bone thuh Man Busion Bone did a post here
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: like fuck that. Fuck y'all niggas. I'm gonna kill y'all motherfuckers.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: He was doing like the posters with me getting shot
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: and beat up and ran train and then chewed up
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: by a shark and spit out and sit on fire,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: all kind of crazy shit. And I was like, I
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: was like, okay, I ain't prison rules. We were running
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: prison rolls. I made one back this and him, you know,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: talking about beating them up and this and that, and
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: it just kept going back for he make one beating
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: me up, and I make one beating them up.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: And now I was having a meme battle, yeah mean battle.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: That ship was getting crazy and it showed me phone
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: down some stairs and and I was like, I was like,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: all right, I can't. And then as soon as we
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: walked down on stage, everybody else is shaking hands. He
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: ain't shake nobody, and he just looking like them, but
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: looking looking I was like, oh, here we go. Here
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: we go here we go losing up, bro, And then
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: you know, he threw the battle. He threw that cast
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: lit or whatever.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: He was like a weird ass for whatever.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: She said, Oh man, take it man, so you get
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: hit after that, you know, after that he went off
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: stage for a while. He calmed down, and he came
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: back out and he hugged me, and you know we
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: talked to.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: Did you guys talk after now?
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: We just see each other. After I was taking I
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: saw I saw Lazy Bone after we took some pictures
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: and hung out.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: But Lazy Coole is the fan. Man, It's so cool,
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: crazy cool is the fan. Bro. The busy boy.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Turned up visit like man, fun This is because Busity
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: is the only one that I don't see, like, you know,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: I see the rest of them all the time. Like
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: is he Bonies an enigma? Yeah, he loved he lived
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: in Houston. He's like he stayed away from from all,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: you know, everybody. So he's the only one that I
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: never had to build a relationship with. But the funny
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: part about it is he did a verse for me
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: back in like twenty fifteen. That's easy, no, no problem
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: at all. He did a verse with me and uh
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: that it was cool. So you know, I didn't know
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: where all of that came from. But but you know, like,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: but well, we talked about it and he just, you know,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: he told me he just wanted to pump up the show.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, listen, you guys got a viral
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: moment during the pandemic.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: Now, I'm so glad he did that. I wouldn't take
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: nothing back. I wouldn't take nothing back. He did.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: Streams pribly spiked.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Yeah, he made it. One of the best verses ever
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: in my book.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: Steve Lobel's up there just fucking try to hold it together.
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: He don't know who side.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: He's friends with everybody.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: Everybody, and man, this shit was. It was wild. It
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: was a fun moment.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Before you I wanted to ask you a group that
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: obviously is influenced by you guys, that you guys had
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: some legal stuff with, was the Suicide Boys. You guys
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: settled the lawsuit. You guys ever have any communication with
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: those guys?
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Nah, I haven't. I never met them before in my life,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: but you know, we cool now. We even talked about
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: doing the tour together, So we're cool now. I would
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: have been I was cool with them. The whole time. Like,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: you know, I didn't never had no issues with those dudes.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: I never met him. You know, I wish I wish
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I would have. I wish I would have met him.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: I talked to one of them, scream, I think the
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: name of this. I talked to him once, long, long,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: long time ago. I think through Cousta Nica because I
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: think Cooper got cooled to him at one point. But
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I never had no issue with them, man. You know,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: like I think those dudes are jamming, and I think
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: they really dope, and hopefully we could figure it out.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: And yeah, I mean they're obviously heavily influenced by you guys.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: They've obviously Yeah, he got kid.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: I saw a video of him as a kid talking
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: about I listened to three season Gangs Boot all day.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: He was like fourteen years old.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: So and they're doing it. I mean, I feel like it'd
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: be crazy if you guys eventually when you got when
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: you and Juicy get together, now, it obviously has to
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: make sense financially, like is there when is the timing
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: right for that? Is it a tour?
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Is it?
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Hey? You know, there's an opportunity for us to go
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: do this together.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Well, we already been touring, no, I know, I know.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: I mean I got to see you guys with with
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: with Jelly, which was incredible, But.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: As an album far as music, yeah, at some point,
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: you know, like we haven't. We're kind of dibbling and
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: dabbled here and now a little bit about talking about
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: like some remixes of some of the other stuff, but
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: we haven't. We haven't talked about a new project. But
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: you know it might happen, you know. I'm I'm I'm
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: really just finding myself. Yeah, my solo career. I feel
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: like I put out some solo solo stuff here and
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: there back then, but you know, I didn't really I
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: didn't really know much about it back then. Like I
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: didn't know the streaming game. I put it like that.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: I was right right whole new, Like like I said.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I had to relearn all of us online marketing, you know,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: when I put out those old solo solo tapes of mind,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: you know, ten fifteen years ago or whatever, like I
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: had like one hundred thousand, seventy five sixty five thousand
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: followers on social media. I didn't have that. You know,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I got more now, so you know, and now I
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: know more about it on how to promote the market
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: is so, you know, I'm just gonna run some more
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: of these up and then you know, obviously just still
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: doing this thing.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: I feel like you guys got a crazy festival running
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: y'all soon. Like I feel like one year we're gonna
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: just like wake up and like the whole summer is
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: just gonna be Like remember when outcasted their festival run
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: like ten years ago.

- 1:25:35Speaker 1: they called it quis right.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, it was after all that it was
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: like two thousand, because I heard it was like twenty fourteen,
