- 1:17Tom Jackobs: Steve, welcome to the show.
- 1:19Steve Ramona: Thank you so much.
- 1:20Steve Ramona: I'm fired up to be here.
- 1:22Tom Jackobs: Oh I'm fired up too.
- 1:24Tom Jackobs: I'm so excited to, to speak with you.
- 1:26Tom Jackobs: Really get into the backstory because heart led and 5.5 billion.
- 1:33Tom Jackobs: That's gonna be a disconnect for some people and I'm really excited to dive in and how we can connect that and still show that you can make billions and billions of dollars and still lead with the heart.
- 1:43Tom Jackobs: So with that said, what's your definition of heart-led business?
- 1:47Steve Ramona: They're uplifting everybody they run into.
- 1:50Steve Ramona: They're bringing value.
- 1:51Steve Ramona: The law of increase.
- 1:53Steve Ramona: Chapter four, think and Grow Rich.
- 1:54Steve Ramona: They're following that mantra.
- 1:56Steve Ramona: I read it every month just to remind me.
- 1:59Steve Ramona: Your competitor, your prospect, your customer, your employees, just people you run into, bring, identify'em, whatever that value looks like, small, medium, or large.
- 2:11Steve Ramona: Make that a constant activity that you do for your business.
- 2:15Steve Ramona: And I guarantee you, one, it's fun.
- 2:18Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 2:19Steve Ramona: You're gonna build relationships and meet incredible people like you, Thomas.
- 2:22Steve Ramona: Your revenue is gonna grow.
- 2:25Steve Ramona: How much we don't know that God and the universe will do it.
- 2:28Steve Ramona: But if you grew 10% this year in 2025 doing this, let me know if you'd be happy.
- 2:34Steve Ramona: Reach out to me, reach out to Thomas.
- 2:36Steve Ramona: Ask us, tell us.
- 2:38Tom Jackobs: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:39Tom Jackobs: And connections is the key and the relationships of those connections too, because I know some people kinda game it, and there it's not really authentic and I can see that a mile away and most people can't.
- 2:52Tom Jackobs: But, so it's genuine connections and that's been my mantra for the last year is how can I meet more people?
- 2:59Tom Jackobs: And this podcast has done a great job of introducing me to, to great people like yourself.
- 3:05Tom Jackobs: But also it, my business is growing because of the connections that I'm making.
- 3:10Tom Jackobs: So it's, that's, I'm so glad that you brought that up and the value add that, that you do for other people and it's always comes back.
- 3:18Tom Jackobs: Do you find that it comes back in?
- 3:20Steve Ramona: Oh, it does.
- 3:21Steve Ramona: Here's that tip that I had to learn a couple years ago, Thomas.
- 3:24Steve Ramona: Game changer in my life.
- 3:26Steve Ramona: Been serving for many years, putting partners together, putting people together, but I never would ask, and this guy told me he was doing 250 million a year.
- 3:35Steve Ramona: He said, Steve.
- 3:36Steve Ramona: What you're telling me is you're giving, giving, fantastic.
- 3:40Steve Ramona: But when people come to you go, how can I help you?
- 3:41Steve Ramona: And I could tell you 10 instances where I go, I'm good, Thomas.
- 3:45Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 3:45Steve Ramona: good.
- 3:46Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 3:47Steve Ramona: Steve, not good.
- 3:49Steve Ramona: I just gave him a bunch of gift.
- 3:50Steve Ramona: I served them.
- 3:51Steve Ramona: He goes, you did.
- 3:53Steve Ramona: But when somebody comes back around and asks you to support you, they wanna give you gifts back.
- 3:59Steve Ramona: When you say no, subconsciously walk away and go.
- 4:04Steve Ramona: Not top of mind because that gift giving is when you give those, Steve, how do you feel?
- 4:10Steve Ramona: Great.
- 4:11Steve Ramona: They accept them and it works out we'll flip that around with the person you're talking to.
- 4:16Steve Ramona: Once I start asking my company 5.5 billion projects right now because of my podcast, which to me is the new network.
- 4:24Tom Jackobs: Yep.
- 4:24Steve Ramona: Networking group, because we can control the people coming in.
- 4:27Steve Ramona: We're so much aligned.
- 4:28Steve Ramona: We're brothers from another mother.
- 4:31Steve Ramona: Because I asked, I said, Hey, we're looking for this.
- 4:34Steve Ramona: We're looking for that.
- 4:35Steve Ramona: Can you help me?
- 4:36Steve Ramona: I get a referral a week for my business.
- 4:38Steve Ramona: We just launched five months ago.
- 4:41Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 4:42Steve Ramona: 5-year-old company, but I've built a network from 63 for, since I'm 20, 43 years.
- 4:49Steve Ramona: It's finally paying off for you out there listening.
- 4:52Steve Ramona: You might be 25, 30, it might pay off in 10 years.
- 4:56Steve Ramona: I just did it wrong, and I'm trying to change that and pa pay it forward.
- 5:01Steve Ramona: Here's what I did wrong.
- 5:02Steve Ramona: I never asked.
- 5:04Steve Ramona: Now when I do big things, I've had other people do.
- 5:07Steve Ramona: I've had credible emails, Steve, I did that.
- 5:11Steve Ramona: I asked this guy and I got this multi-billionaire on my podcast.
- 5:14Steve Ramona: I just asked
- 5:16Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 5:16Steve Ramona: Or I got a deal.
- 5:17Steve Ramona: This guy brought me two clients because I brought him a deal.
- 5:20Steve Ramona: I asked, I'm looking for clients.
- 5:22Steve Ramona: He's got two clients.
- 5:24Steve Ramona: I know it works.
- 5:25Steve Ramona: Doesn't work all the time, and that's the key.
- 5:27Steve Ramona: It's not a hundred percent guarantee, but taking the action is a hundred percent.
- 5:32Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 5:32Tom Jackobs: Like you, you miss a hundred percent of the shots that you don't take.
- 5:36Tom Jackobs: Was that Wayne Gretsky maybe that said that, or somebody?
- 5:39Steve Ramona: Michael Jordan
- 5:41Tom Jackobs: Which maybe some sports guy I also like Wayne Gretzky's, go where the puck is going, not where it is.
- 5:48Tom Jackobs: And that's a great business analogy as well.
- 5:50Tom Jackobs: But I, yeah, asking for that.
- 5:55Tom Jackobs: That's something that I've struggled with as well, is that.
- 5:59Tom Jackobs: Some, I'm a giver as well, heart led and people will ask like you said.
- 6:03Tom Jackobs: And that's, I'm, that's a good reminder.
- 6:04Tom Jackobs: So thank you for bringing that up.
- 6:06Tom Jackobs: It's okay to ask.
- 6:08Steve Ramona: Yeah.
- 6:08Steve Ramona: And what's the worst thing?
- 6:09Steve Ramona: It's a no.
- 6:11Steve Ramona: Next.
- 6:12Steve Ramona: When somebody says no to me, I say next, but here's a tip.
- 6:16Steve Ramona: And this is, I just picked this up about months ago.
- 6:18Steve Ramona: I figured it out.
- 6:20Steve Ramona: When somebody says no to me, I serve them even more.
- 6:23Steve Ramona: I bring them more heart.
- 6:26Steve Ramona: And they're like,'cause I've had people come back to me later going, I wanna work with you.
- 6:30Steve Ramona: 'cause I said no to you and you still gave.
- 6:32Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 6:34Steve Ramona: Give.
- 6:34Steve Ramona: It's not hard.
- 6:35Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 6:36Tom Jackobs: Build
- 6:36Steve Ramona: your resources, build your community.
- 6:38Steve Ramona: Build your network.
- 6:39Steve Ramona: Start sharing it with people.
- 6:41Steve Ramona: It is the best feeling when I call Christmas morning every day.
- 6:47Steve Ramona: When you wake up as a kid and you are running into the tree, what happens?
- 6:51Steve Ramona: You're opening that gift up.
- 6:53Steve Ramona: I get to do that every day.
- 6:54Steve Ramona: Now, some are a brand new bike and some are a new book.
- 6:58Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 6:59Steve Ramona: People wanna be seen.
- 7:01Steve Ramona: When you help them be seen by what you do.
- 7:04Steve Ramona: Do they forget you?
- 7:05Steve Ramona: No.
- 7:07Steve Ramona: I've been getting referrals every day for the last 20 months.
- 7:12Steve Ramona: 20 days, 20 months.
- 7:14Steve Ramona: Some five, some three.
- 7:15Steve Ramona: I probably could look at him an email and I have a referral a lot of'em are, man, you gotta meet Steve, He's such a giver.
- 7:22Steve Ramona: He's got a great podcast, this and that.
- 7:25Steve Ramona: Don't we wanna be remembered for that?
- 7:27Steve Ramona: Not that I pitched you and I sold you a 10,000 program and I'm$10,000 richer.
- 7:34Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 7:35Tom Jackobs: And for the giver it feels good as well.
- 7:37Tom Jackobs: Like Christmas morning you see the kids unwrapping the gifts and their eyes lighting up and they're like, oh my gosh.
- 7:45Tom Jackobs: And my, I don't have kids of my own, but niece and nephew.
- 7:48Tom Jackobs: And I remember one Christmas my niece, I got her like this princess dress.
- 7:53Tom Jackobs: I don't know what I was thinking, but it was cute at the time.
- 7:56Tom Jackobs: She's probably listening to this and went, oh my gosh, uncle t don't tell that.
- 8:00Tom Jackobs: But anyway, they called me Uncle T and she was just like, oh my gosh, uncle T love this.
- 8:03Tom Jackobs: And it just felt really good.
- 8:06Tom Jackobs: And if you're telling people, no, I don't need anything, it's all good.
- 8:10Tom Jackobs: You're taking, like you said before, you're taking that, that feeling away from them and then they're not gonna remember you later.
- 8:18Steve Ramona: Yeah.
- 8:18Steve Ramona: Remembering is so powerful.
- 8:19Steve Ramona: I'll give you an ask.
- 8:21Steve Ramona: Ask story, and this is through a podcast.
- 8:24Steve Ramona: So I had a gentleman, Zach, on, on a Monday, and I was going through and found out he had Forbes Riley on his show.
- 8:29Steve Ramona: She's done$2.53 billion in her career in fitness and entrepreneurs.
- 8:35Steve Ramona: She's one of the top entrepreneurs.
- 8:38Steve Ramona: I reached out after the show and he, gave him some referrals.
- 8:40Steve Ramona: We did a great show.
- 8:42Steve Ramona: He was on fire.
- 8:43Steve Ramona: I said, Zach, he asked me how can I help?
- 8:46Steve Ramona: No, he didn't ask me.
- 8:48Steve Ramona: Which is okay.
- 8:49Steve Ramona: Some people are gonna forget, Hey, how can I support you?
- 8:51Steve Ramona: I said, Hey, Zach, can I ask a favor?
- 8:53Steve Ramona: Yeah, sure.
- 8:54Steve Ramona: What?
- 8:54Steve Ramona: What?
- 8:54Steve Ramona: I said, can you introduce me to Forbes Riley?
- 8:57Steve Ramona: I'd love to have her on my show.
- 8:58Steve Ramona: She's a perfect fit.
- 8:59Steve Ramona: Sure.
- 9:00Steve Ramona: Hour later, I got an email.
- 9:02Steve Ramona: Three days later, she was on my show.
- 9:05Steve Ramona: And he said, no I can't.
- 9:06Steve Ramona: She doesn't go anymore podcasts.
- 9:08Steve Ramona: Great, Zach, thank you.
- 9:09Steve Ramona: By the way, here's another referral.
- 9:10Steve Ramona: Let's talk soon.
- 9:11Steve Ramona: I'll get this out to you.
- 9:14Steve Ramona: That story is so easy to do because here's the problem, when we say, people say no to us on both sides, the person telling me no is feeling uncomfortable.
- 9:24Steve Ramona: How's he gonna act?
- 9:25Steve Ramona: He's a good guy.
- 9:26Steve Ramona: And then I'm feeling a guy.
- 9:27Steve Ramona: How do I respond to a no?
- 9:29Steve Ramona: Okay, I understand.
- 9:30Steve Ramona: People always say, yeah, I understand you don't have the money right now.
- 9:33Steve Ramona: Go, oh, no, I, We'll follow up on that.
- 9:36Steve Ramona: But by the way, here's something else for you.
- 9:38Steve Ramona: I've had people come back to some of the people I'm mentoring months later and go, that one conversation I signed up with you because you still were given, like I said earlier,
- 9:48Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 9:48Steve Ramona: still giving even though I said no to you.
- 9:50Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 9:51Tom Jackobs: It comes back all the time.
- 9:53Tom Jackobs: A lot more than if you didn't do it at all.
- 9:55Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 9:56Steve Ramona: Yes, absolutely.
- 9:58Tom Jackobs: Tell us a little bit about your heart-led business and what you're doing and what makes it a heart-led business.
- 10:03Steve Ramona: Well, a podcast has been the beginning of this, as I said, I think it's the new networking group because a podcast, and if you not, don't have a podcast out there, I mentor podcast people.
- 10:14Steve Ramona: I get them started.
- 10:14Steve Ramona: I'm actually doing one today.
- 10:16Steve Ramona: And if I do it monthly for free, that's one thing from a, that I do from a heartfelt business.
- 10:22Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 10:22Tom Jackobs: Give
- 10:23Steve Ramona: stuff away for free.
- 10:26Steve Ramona: I'm not saying 10 hours a week, I'm not saying whatever you can do.
- 10:30Steve Ramona: I do one hour a month for podcasts and two hours a month for business mentoring at no cost.
- 10:39Steve Ramona: So it's three hours outta my month.
- 10:40Steve Ramona: Is it affecting my business?
- 10:42Steve Ramona: Hell no.
- 10:43Steve Ramona: It's building my business.
- 10:45Steve Ramona: Because the universe goes Steve.
- 10:48Steve Ramona: I'm proud to say this.
- 10:50Steve Ramona: You're helping people, you're doing good things.
- 10:53Steve Ramona: I did a business mentoring Monday with three ladies before we got off there.
- 10:58Steve Ramona: Oh my God.
- 10:59Steve Ramona: Thank you, Steve.
- 10:59Steve Ramona: Oh my God, we've learned so much.
- 11:01Steve Ramona: I appreciate your time.
- 11:03Steve Ramona: And one of the ladies I've been working with for four weeks, she wasn't gonna start a business.
- 11:07Steve Ramona: Now she's looking to start a business.
- 11:08Steve Ramona: She's getting a mentor.
- 11:09Steve Ramona: And I tell you the feeling when I got off that Zoom call was just.
- 11:14Steve Ramona: It's ecstatic.
- 11:16Steve Ramona: The other thing I'm doing besides the podcast and I'm mentoring is in the renewable energy space, we're taking landowners and partnering up with renewable energy.
- 11:24Steve Ramona: Power is a big problem in this world and in the United States, for people to grow developers that have projects with their industrial or residential or commercial, we can come in, but now we're building jobs.
- 11:36Steve Ramona: We've got a couple Indian reservations or we're serving them, get them jobs, get them revenue.
- 11:42Steve Ramona: And it's so cool'cause when you get tie, the social impact to it, philanthropic in a sense.
- 11:48Steve Ramona: It's still make money and everybody's happy.
- 11:50Steve Ramona: It's a home run.
- 11:50Tom Jackobs: That's the heart led business as well.
- 11:52Tom Jackobs: Now the renewable, is it that like solar and wind, traditionally?
- 11:57Steve Ramona: hydrogen, and wind.
- 11:58Tom Jackobs: Okay.
- 11:59Tom Jackobs: Oh, cool.
- 11:59Steve Ramona: We've got a partner wind iq, who just is the new wind turbine.
- 12:05Steve Ramona: You've probably all seen listening.
- 12:06Steve Ramona: The big ones, the big propellers.
- 12:08Steve Ramona: A thousand birds a month.
- 12:10Tom Jackobs: Animals, can't be
- 12:11Steve Ramona: be around it.
- 12:12Steve Ramona: They're really affecting the environment.
- 12:14Tom Jackobs: They're not.
- 12:14Steve Ramona: good and they're la of are being torn down.
- 12:17Steve Ramona: This one is 30 feet tall, doesn't use propellers.
- 12:20Steve Ramona: Uses one box that spins.
- 12:23Tom Jackobs: Oh.
- 12:24Steve Ramona: So you can put in your backyard and power your house and the big ones need about 13 miles an hour wind, which is a lot of wind to really get going.
- 12:34Steve Ramona: Plus, there's hydrogen in the bottom of that.
- 12:36Steve Ramona: Then it's not, but it, possibly could be.
- 12:39Steve Ramona: Ours is two and a half miles an hour and it's generating power.
- 12:44Tom Jackobs: Oh wow.
- 12:44Steve Ramona: Maintenance in once every three years.
- 12:47Steve Ramona: 'Cause it's just one unit.
- 12:48Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 12:49Steve Ramona: can paint, you can make it aesthetic.
- 12:51Steve Ramona: We've got people thinking about putting this in a park and having the kids paint on it with graphics and pictures and stuff to make it pretty, even though it's a, it's a renewable energy.
- 13:01Steve Ramona: And the other ones you just can't do that.
- 13:03Steve Ramona: So we're excited because we're bringing on new technology.
- 13:06Steve Ramona: It's really gonna change the world.
- 13:07Tom Jackobs: It's cool because it's a smaller footprint as well.
- 13:10Steve Ramona: Yep, exactly.
- 13:11Tom Jackobs: Yeah, I I live in Taiwan and there's huge amount of the wind projects going offshore and it's, and there's some onshore as well.
- 13:21Tom Jackobs: And I tell you what, those big propellers, and it's just a eyesore to be honest.
- 13:26Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 13:27Steve Ramona: It really is, and they're not working all the time because of the 13 mile.
- 13:31Steve Ramona: So you got that eyesore there that's not really helping the power.
- 13:34Steve Ramona: And fortunately this is going to be, make a big change.
- 13:36Steve Ramona: Make a big difference.
- 13:37Tom Jackobs: Oh, that's cool.
- 13:38Tom Jackobs: Awesome.
- 13:39Tom Jackobs: So the crux of the show is really about how you balance making a profit and still being heart led.
- 13:47Tom Jackobs: So you, at the top of the show, in your introduction, it's, 5.5 billion in projects, and I'm sure a lot of people are like, oh.
- 13:56Tom Jackobs: Not heart led with that, but how are we balancing or how are you balancing the profit and the heart led piece of it
- 14:04Steve Ramona: More abundance I get.
- 14:07Steve Ramona: More abundance I can give.
- 14:08Tom Jackobs: Perfectly said.
- 14:09Steve Ramona: If I make 10 million this year.
- 14:11Steve Ramona: I can go build a home sports complex for kids.
- 14:15Steve Ramona: To have some place they can go, get outta the house, get off the cell phone and play basketball, hit a baseball, gaming, whatever that may be, but getting kids back to community right off the bat, that's one of my goals.
- 14:27Tom Jackobs: Oh, that's lovely.
- 14:28Steve Ramona: Not all successful people with a lot of money do that.
- 14:32Tom Jackobs: But
- 14:33Steve Ramona: that's what I'm gonna do.
- 14:33Steve Ramona: And the guys I've talked to.
- 14:35Steve Ramona: Have done that.
- 14:37Steve Ramona: It just leads to more abundance.
- 14:39Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 14:39Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 14:39Steve Ramona: You get abundance, you give it, you get more abundance.
- 14:42Steve Ramona: You give it.
- 14:43Steve Ramona: It becomes this beautiful cycle of everybody's happy.
- 14:47Steve Ramona: When you do something, I watch stories.
- 14:49Steve Ramona: You've probably seen stories, you know that quick one.
- 14:53Steve Ramona: My wife was showing me good morning America.
- 14:54Steve Ramona: This young kid has been in a hospital 17 times and arthritis and not a good life so far, and they walked up to him and they said, here's a thousand dollars or two tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles game.
- 15:08Steve Ramona: He's a big Eagles fan.
- 15:08Steve Ramona: He lives in Philadelphia.
- 15:09Steve Ramona: He took the tickets.
- 15:10Steve Ramona: He's never been.
- 15:11Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 15:13Steve Ramona: What this guy did, which is what I would do and I take it would love to do, is he goes, you know what?
- 15:18Steve Ramona: Here's the thousand dollars.
- 15:20Steve Ramona: Wow.
- 15:21Steve Ramona: Now the kid's got a thousand dollars.
- 15:23Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 15:24Tom Jackobs: But.
- 15:24Steve Ramona: what he did was he stood at the counter, at the checkout stand.
- 15:30Steve Ramona: He bought everybody's groceries until a thousand dollars was gone.
- 15:33Steve Ramona: Hey, let me get you groceries today.
- 15:35Steve Ramona: Never kept any thousand dollars.
- 15:38Tom Jackobs: Wow.
- 15:39Steve Ramona: Heartfelt from a kid, but that's what heartfelt business does.
- 15:43Steve Ramona: That story.
- 15:44Steve Ramona: Now, here's the end of the story.
- 15:46Steve Ramona: Bradley Cooper huge Philadelphia Eagles fan.
- 15:49Steve Ramona: They had this kid in his family of Good Morning America and they brought the Eagles cheerleader.
- 15:54Steve Ramona: They made all hoopla about this, which is really cool.
- 15:57Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 15:57Tom Jackobs: That's awesome.
- 15:57Steve Ramona: Gave him a little toy of the mascot.
- 15:59Steve Ramona: He gave it to his sister.
- 16:01Steve Ramona: Amazing.
- 16:01Steve Ramona: But Bradley Cooper comes running out and gives him four tickets to the Super Bowl
- 16:06Tom Jackobs: Oh my gosh.
- 16:07Steve Ramona: For the whole family.
- 16:08Steve Ramona: Now he's only second game ever.
- 16:10Steve Ramona: Eagles are playing and Bradley Cooper had him in his arms.
- 16:14Steve Ramona: If he watch the Super Bowl, if anybody watch the Super Bowl, the kid that was in his arms this kid I'm telling you about.
- 16:21Tom Jackobs: Oh
- 16:22Steve Ramona: That's what a heartfelt business.
- 16:24Steve Ramona: He didn't give the thousand dollars away to go to the Super Bowl.
- 16:28Steve Ramona: He had no idea.
- 16:30Steve Ramona: He just did it.
- 16:33Steve Ramona: That's what happens when your heartfelt business and your abundance leads to more.
- 16:37Steve Ramona: But how many people did he feed?
- 16:39Steve Ramona: How many of those people barely can pay their groceries, have debt?
- 16:42Steve Ramona: They're adding more debt now, they don't have.
- 16:46Steve Ramona: Another quick story.
- 16:47Steve Ramona: I love talking about this stuff.
- 16:49Steve Ramona: So I tell people when you are having a tough day and things aren't falling in place, go serve somebody.
- 16:54Steve Ramona: What a great way to get outta the funk.
- 16:55Steve Ramona: Maybe it's five minutes, five hours, but it's a good thing to do.
- 16:58Steve Ramona: The universe loves that and gets you outta your head a lot.
- 17:03Steve Ramona: So I did that.
- 17:04Steve Ramona: A lot of things were happening that day, so I left at two o'clock.
- 17:07Steve Ramona: I don't usually leave my office.
- 17:08Steve Ramona: I went to a grocery store and stood in line.
- 17:12Steve Ramona: Nobody was there, but this lady had a baby in her arms and I just leaned to the clerk.
- 17:17Steve Ramona: I'm in California, so this is why the kid respond.
- 17:19Steve Ramona: He goes, dude.
- 17:22Steve Ramona: Dude, what are you doing?
- 17:23Steve Ramona: You don't buy people's groceries?
- 17:25Steve Ramona: Dude that's crazyI said I said, just do me a favor.
- 17:28Steve Ramona: It's something I had a call, I had this feeling and finally did it.
- 17:32Steve Ramona: It was a lot of money, but it doesn't matter.
- 17:33Steve Ramona: So I buy my groceries and I walk out and she starts tearing up.
- 17:37Steve Ramona: Her name was Debbie.
- 17:38Steve Ramona: And I said, oh, Debbie, I'm, I did not wanna upset you.
- 17:42Steve Ramona: She could know Steve.
- 17:43Steve Ramona: I'm super joyful right now.
- 17:45Steve Ramona: My husband lost his job last week.
- 17:47Steve Ramona: We didn't know how we were gonna pay for the food for our baby.
- 17:51Tom Jackobs: Wow.
- 17:52Steve Ramona: I stepped back and I said, thank you.
- 17:54Steve Ramona: I appreciate that and it was a great thing that I did, but there's a greater thing that's gonna happen.
- 18:00Steve Ramona: Why I subconscious, what I was thinking was wanted to give, wanted to serve without recourse.
- 18:07Steve Ramona: Look what happened.
- 18:08Steve Ramona: But what's gonna happen when Debbie goes home and talks to her husband?
- 18:11Tom Jackobs: Wow.
- 18:13Steve Ramona: Tell that story.
- 18:15Steve Ramona: And most of the time, not all the time, but most of the time.
- 18:18Steve Ramona: How can we help somebody else?
- 18:20Steve Ramona: And then you get the chain of events.
- 18:23Tom Jackobs: Yep.
- 18:23Steve Ramona: that's all happened without me thinking about was just to me as a spiritual Holy Spirit was calling me to.
- 18:29Steve Ramona: To help her out.
- 18:30Steve Ramona: I got the money.
- 18:31Steve Ramona: I just, she had a baby.
- 18:32Steve Ramona: Maybe it was the baby, I don't know.
- 18:34Steve Ramona: What look what transpired with a heartfelt activity or a heartfelt business.
- 18:40Steve Ramona: It's why I absolutely love your show and love you as a host because this is a game changer for people.
- 18:49Steve Ramona: And you need to listen to these shows, not just my others, because it can make a change in somebody's life and impact and difference.
- 18:57Tom Jackobs: Yeah, if there were more people doing exactly what you did, the world would be such a more, a richer place because of it.
- 19:05Tom Jackobs: And a couple things came to mind when you were talking about that.
- 19:08Tom Jackobs: I had an experience where I was going through a drive through at Starbucks and somebody had started the buy behind me thing.
- 19:15Tom Jackobs: And so everybody was like.
- 19:18Tom Jackobs: Okay, so they bought my coffee.
- 19:20Tom Jackobs: Now I'm gonna buy them, but their coffee too.
- 19:22Tom Jackobs: And it was just this chain of reaction and it was such a great, I was like, this is like really cool.
- 19:27Tom Jackobs: I hope they don't have five lattes behind me.
- 19:31Tom Jackobs: Something like that.
- 19:33Steve Ramona: That's great coffee.
- 19:34Steve Ramona: Come on let's go.
- 19:35Steve Ramona: Yeah.
- 19:37Steve Ramona: Oh yeah.
- 19:38Steve Ramona: How did you feel for the next few hours you remember?
- 19:41Tom Jackobs: I told lots of people about it too, because that's what we do when something like extraordinary happens, we tell more people about it.
- 19:49Tom Jackobs: And the negative side and the positive side.
- 19:51Tom Jackobs: You get a, if you get a complaint, there's 10 other people that have that same complaint and they tell 10 people about their complaint.
- 19:59Tom Jackobs: But with.
- 20:00Tom Jackobs: With the good things that happen that are extraordinary, people tell other people.
- 20:05Tom Jackobs: And it's just that great change.
- 20:06Steve Ramona: Oh my God.
- 20:07Steve Ramona: You open the door, watch out.
- 20:08Steve Ramona: 'cause this is a huge door you just opened.
- 20:11Steve Ramona: If all the entire world learn how to,'cause I get asked all the time, Thomas, you.
- 20:14Steve Ramona: You like an expert.
- 20:15Steve Ramona: You're probably bigger than I am.
- 20:17Steve Ramona: We know how to serve.
- 20:17Steve Ramona: We figure it out.
- 20:18Steve Ramona: We ask and listen.
- 20:20Steve Ramona: I have this principle.
- 20:21Steve Ramona: Ask.
- 20:22Steve Ramona: Ask.
- 20:22Steve Ramona: Shut up.
- 20:23Steve Ramona: Listen.
- 20:24Steve Ramona: Shut up.
- 20:25Steve Ramona: 'cause that's how you can serve.
- 20:26Steve Ramona: Oh, what do they really need?
- 20:27Steve Ramona: They will tell you.
- 20:28Steve Ramona: So I go to restaurants all the time and I've been doing it for years.
- 20:32Steve Ramona: And I'll grab a, gotta be genuine, I'll grab the waitress or waiter and go, Hey, can you grab your manager?
- 20:39Steve Ramona: Oh, what's up?
- 20:40Steve Ramona: Can I help you?
- 20:40Steve Ramona: Oh, no, can you grab your manager?
- 20:42Steve Ramona: I do that purposely because I'll watch and they walk over and it's this, the, they're like, what the hell?
- 20:48Steve Ramona: Figure it out.
- 20:49Steve Ramona: What did you do?
- 20:49Steve Ramona: What?
- 20:50Steve Ramona: What am I walking into?
- 20:52Steve Ramona: And I did this at a cheese factory.
- 20:55Steve Ramona: We're at the bar.
- 20:56Steve Ramona: She was great.
- 20:56Steve Ramona: We only had five pot stickers and had six.
- 20:58Steve Ramona: She told us right away, we're discounting your product.
- 21:01Steve Ramona: We ran out.
- 21:02Steve Ramona: We're sorry.
- 21:03Steve Ramona: She was serviceable.
- 21:05Steve Ramona: Water was all that.
- 21:06Steve Ramona: She was really good.
- 21:08Steve Ramona: So I did that.
- 21:08Steve Ramona: Her manager walked over, shaking, physically shaking and said no.
- 21:13Steve Ramona: And why do we do that?
- 21:14Steve Ramona: And then that's the crazy thing to me, and I'll go, I went to her and said, this is one of the best waitresses I've worked with.
- 21:21Steve Ramona: If I had a restaurant, I'd take her from you.
- 21:23Steve Ramona: That's how good she was.
- 21:25Steve Ramona: You're not starting a restaurant, I you.
- 21:26Steve Ramona: No.
- 21:26Steve Ramona: All I'm just telling you.
- 21:27Steve Ramona: That's how good she was freaking out a little bit.
- 21:30Steve Ramona: To really serve even more when you do this and audience go out and do that.
- 21:34Steve Ramona: And by the way, people's names and call'em by their names.
- 21:38Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 21:38Tom Jackobs: That's a
- 21:38Steve Ramona: simple way to serve people.
- 21:40Steve Ramona: So I said Terry was her name.
- 21:42Steve Ramona: I said, how often do you hear this?
- 21:44Steve Ramona: Steve, I've been here a year.
- 21:45Steve Ramona: I've probably heard it twice.
- 21:47Steve Ramona: My staff is doing good in a year.
- 21:50Steve Ramona: Yeah,
- 21:51Tom Jackobs: yeah.
- 21:52Steve Ramona: I've talked to over 150 managers now.
- 21:54Steve Ramona: About 140 of them get one or two a year.
- 21:57Steve Ramona: The other 10 were just such good, and they ask, Hey, staff is doing good.
- 22:01Steve Ramona: Let no so audience, here's a tip and I'm gonna write a book about this.
- 22:06Steve Ramona: Be a better customer.
- 22:09Steve Ramona: Don't just be complaining.
- 22:12Steve Ramona: We have customer service books all over the internet, all over Amazon, and they're great.
- 22:18Steve Ramona: But also flips on the customer side, And yelling at somebody because their food was cold.
- 22:25Steve Ramona: You could do that or go, Hey Thomas, you know my food's cold.
- 22:28Steve Ramona: Can you check it out and see what we can do?
- 22:29Steve Ramona: Oh my God, it is cold.
- 22:30Steve Ramona: Let me fix that for you.
- 22:32Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 22:32Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 22:33Tom Jackobs: Being a better customer you'ree gonna one, get better service because you are complimentary and people want to do business with you.
- 22:43Tom Jackobs: As my mama says, you can get more flies with honey than with vinegar.
- 22:47Steve Ramona: Amen.
- 22:48Steve Ramona: I did this to another place bj doesn't matter.
- 22:51Steve Ramona: Sports BJ Sport.
- 22:52Steve Ramona: And we did this with a waitress.
- 22:55Steve Ramona: The manager came over.
- 22:56Steve Ramona: She was super excited.
- 22:57Steve Ramona: Oh my God, I really appreciate it.
- 22:59Steve Ramona: The waitress came back, she goes, you know what?
- 23:01Steve Ramona: I work at the four nine ERs stadium.
- 23:03Steve Ramona: You guys ever come by?
- 23:04Steve Ramona: I'll get you free drinks.
- 23:06Tom Jackobs: Oh my gosh.
- 23:07Steve Ramona: Now.
- 23:07Steve Ramona: I didn't say she was good.
- 23:08Steve Ramona: I was being genuine'cause she was good.
- 23:11Steve Ramona: This is the heartfelt business again.
- 23:13Steve Ramona: I'm gonna go back to your podcast.
- 23:15Steve Ramona: The ROI.
- 23:16Steve Ramona: You don't know what it's gonna be.
- 23:17Steve Ramona: I didn't ask for it, but it does happen.
- 23:20Steve Ramona: Doesn't happen all the time.
- 23:21Steve Ramona: Absolutely not.
- 23:23Steve Ramona: We get fearful when we serve and heartfelt when, where, and how is it gonna happen?
- 23:29Steve Ramona: Take that outta your mindset.
- 23:30Steve Ramona: Just do take action.
- 23:32Steve Ramona: Do take action.
- 23:33Steve Ramona: It'll eventually happen, and sometimes big and sometimes small.
- 23:37Tom Jackobs: Yeah, and I wanna go back a little bit where you said about just shutting up and listening to the other person.
- 23:43Tom Jackobs: 'cause they'll tell you exactly what they want and that is exactly the sales philosophy that I have as well.
- 23:49Tom Jackobs: When you're sitting with a prospect, it's you ask the question and then you zip it up and shut up and let them talk.
- 23:58Tom Jackobs: There's so many salespeople that go into a conversation and it's just yep.
- 24:02Tom Jackobs: This, I'm so great.
- 24:03Tom Jackobs: This is so great.
- 24:03Tom Jackobs: My product's wonderful.
- 24:05Tom Jackobs: They know nothing about that prospect, and so this, not only is it heart-led business, but in sales and every aspect of life, the more you ask and just shut up and listen, the richer you're going to be in knowledge and just making those connections with people.
- 24:21Steve Ramona: Yeah, I've never said this on a podcast and I'm gonna say it now.
- 24:25Steve Ramona: There's people that do like this.
- 24:27Steve Ramona: How long have you been in business?
- 24:28Steve Ramona: 10 years.
- 24:29Steve Ramona: Okay.
- 24:29Steve Ramona: Why do you do your business?
- 24:30Steve Ramona: Oh, I'm passionate about helping kids.
- 24:32Steve Ramona: And then it's you know what?
- 24:33Steve Ramona: I've got this software you need to buy because it'll help you grow.
- 24:37Steve Ramona: Yeah.
- 24:37Steve Ramona: They asked questions, but they didn't show up and listen.
- 24:40Tom Jackobs: They didn't listen.
- 24:41Steve Ramona: cause I hear people say I ask questions all the time, and I go through a scenario and they're like, you didn't listen to one thing?
- 24:45Steve Ramona: I said,
- 24:47Tom Jackobs: That's an interrogation.
- 24:51Steve Ramona: That's it.
- 24:51Steve Ramona: Let me borrow that.
- 24:53Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 24:53Tom Jackobs: Sometimes it feels like that.
- 24:55Tom Jackobs: I was on a podcast interview that was an interrogation.
- 24:58Tom Jackobs: It felt like, because there was no conversation, there was no like banter back and forth, which makes it a lot more interesting for people to listen to.
- 25:08Tom Jackobs: Sure.
- 25:08Steve Ramona: yeah it's, that's what podcasts should be.
- 25:10Steve Ramona: And these are gifts.
- 25:11Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 25:12Tom Jackobs: I see at the
- 25:12Steve Ramona: end of my, all my podcast, subscribe to my YouTube channel, but not so I have subscribers.
- 25:17Steve Ramona: But you have that link'cause it gets sent to you and if you listen to it and it resonates with you, or you can help somebody another way to serve, send them that podcast link.
- 25:27Steve Ramona: Go, Hey, I just listened to Thomas.
- 25:29Steve Ramona: Oh my God.
- 25:29Steve Ramona: A couple of these tips you were talking about.
- 25:32Steve Ramona: And maybe they reach out, maybe they don't.
- 25:33Steve Ramona: Maybe the podcast answers their questions.
- 25:36Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 25:36Steve Ramona: You just gave that Christmas gift on a Saturday February 29th or March 1st, you gave a Christmas gift.
- 25:44Tom Jackobs: Yeah.
- 25:45Tom Jackobs: Oh, that's brilliant.
- 25:46Tom Jackobs: Steve, this has been just a wonderful conversation.
- 25:48Tom Jackobs: I can't believe that we're almost at time here.
- 25:51Tom Jackobs: But so many great nuggets and I think this is definitely an episode people need to listen to a couple times to really let it sink in.
- 25:59Tom Jackobs: But yeah, the giver mentality is so important in business.
- 26:03Tom Jackobs: So how can people learn a little bit more about what you do?
