- 0:00If you have a home service business, I implore you to stop learning and start doing.
- 0:06And if that means you need to stop watching this video, stop watching a podcast or a book, or subscribing to a whole bunch of YouTube channels and digesting hours and hours of content every single day, I implore you to stop taking more inputs and just focus on doing what you already know you need to do in your business.
- 0:28I fell into this trap a lot in the first few years of business because when you're out in the field doing the work, you have plenty of time to plug in your earbuds and listen to copious amounts of books, podcasts, YouTube videos, and get so many ideas of what you should do in your business.
- 0:45And the bottom line is most of us only execute on one thing and maybe add one thing every few months to improve our business.
- 0:53If you're trying to figure out Facebook ads, that's the only thing you can think about.
- 0:57And if you're also trying to do some Google ads and some yard signs, you're also trying to figure out every door, direct mail and building your website and wrapping your trucks, if you're trying to do all of these other things at the same time, it's unlikely you're going to solve the constraint of learning Facebook ads.
- 1:11And so I believe in the world of AI, in the world of copious amounts of content being created every single minute, we are not dying for a lack of instruction, or education, or knowing what to do.
- 1:23We are dying for the fact, our businesses are dying, for the fact that we are executing on what we know we should be doing.
- 1:31And because we are not executing on what we know we should be doing, we'd rather fill that time with the mental scratching that happens when we can learn all these other things.
- 1:41And we learn from people that have built hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue about what they're doing in their business.
- 1:45And that's so exciting.
- 1:47That's so cool.
- 1:48And we watch what someone does in a huge launch, or a fantastic event, or a huge conference, and we think, oh, that's amazing.
- 1:54I would love to do that.
- 1:55You see someone else doing a course or an online, some sort of a community, like, oh my goodness, I would love to do that.
- 2:01And we constantly are keeping our mind fragmented in terms of attention instead of putting all that focus on the one constraint in the business that we should be focused on.
- 2:10And here's the thing.
- 2:11A lot of times, the reason we don't do that is because we're afraid we're focused on the wrong thing.
- 2:17We're afraid we're building the wrong business.
- 2:19We're afraid we're in the wrong service.
- 2:21We're afraid we should be doing a completely different industry.
- 2:23We're afraid we're on the wrong bus, the wrong vehicle for our wealth.
- 2:28And because of that, we constantly are investigating other vehicles.
- 2:32Here's the problem.
- 2:32You can only choose one vehicle.
- 2:34And so if I have a Ferrari and a Corolla and a bus and a motorcycle, I'm like, oh man, I don't know which vehicle to operate in.
- 2:41Okay, well, I'm just gonna learn all about all four of them.
- 2:44Well, you can only choose one and you will get further on the motorcycle if you just get on the motorcycle and start implementing and executing and taking action versus pondering and thinking about how I could use the Ferrari and whether the bus is a better situation and what about the Corolla, it's more dependable, it's cheaper, like, instead of just taking action on one thing.
- 3:04And so, so many of us are thinking, well, should I have gotten to HVAC?
- 3:07Should I have gotten electrical?
- 3:08I'm hearing private equities get into those industries.
- 3:10Maybe I shouldn't be doing this window cleaning thing.
- 3:13I shouldn't be doing mowing.
- 3:14I hear Mike talking about mowing, so maybe I should do recurring services.
- 3:17Instead of just taking what we're currently doing and pulling all of our time, all of our attention on it.
- 3:22And this whole thing with AI is making this worse because now it feels like you're making progress when in reality, you're just taking more information.
- 3:32and you're like oh no no ai can run my business no you need to execute on building the systems for the business to operate inside of how do i know this you go try to use ai to hire someone right now and grow your organization and get another technician like oh i can do that i can have an avatar and then i can have them go into this flow and ask them these questions and it'll take what they say and run it through this transcript and offer them a job at the end of the day they have to have evidence and proof that they're going to get a paycheck and that paycheck
- 4:02And so right now, at least for now, it is not going to go to the person that knows the most information because AI ultimately knows all information.
- 4:11It has scraped every piece of data on the internet and has that knowledge, but yet it still can't,
- 4:17hire one person, because it can't pay the bill.
- 4:19It actually costs money to run those tokens.
- 4:21And so it is still going to come down to the person that can execute the best.
- 4:25It's not gonna come to the person who knows the most information.
- 4:28This was a huge topic of discussion when I was thinking about building home service boardroom
- 4:32is I didn't want to make it a place where every single week there's new content and new courses and hours and Q&A and then there's live calls and there's all this stuff and it's overwhelming with the amount of information because we already have so much of it.
- 4:44You can type in very quickly into AI, into any model and immediately have copious amounts of data, information of what you should do next in your business.
- 4:52It is not the person that knows the most information that will win.
- 4:55Now is the person that will execute and instead of learning more information, they actually block all the noise out and just focus on one or two things and execute on them.
- 5:05So in the home service boardroom, what we did instead is we have one course every single month.
- 5:09It might be two to four hours, but it's about one topic.
- 5:13And then it's not like learn about these things.
- 5:14What did you learn?
- 5:15Awesome.
- 5:15Great.
- 5:15Let's go.
- 5:16No execute.
- 5:18Go implement this inside of your business, inside of your life.
- 5:21And so like the first module, the first course is all about health.
- 5:24Okay, I want you to track your macros, track your calories, track your steps and your workouts for 30 days straight, every single day.
- 5:31Great.
- 5:32Module number two, course number two, month number two, we are talking about marriage.
- 5:37Okay, I want you to actually go implement a budget, a profit and loss statement for your personal finances, create a marriage constitution with you and your spouse to be able to be able to grow the business together and be on the same page.
- 5:48And that's all we're gonna talk about.
- 5:51We're not gonna also talk about marketing and systems and hiring and firing and putting dollars here and investing in real estate and stocks and crypto.
- 5:58We're not gonna talk about all that stuff.
- 5:59We're gonna talk about one thing at a time because it's very easy to get into this idea of feel like you're making progress when really all you're doing is receiving incoming information.
- 6:10And this is especially true for those out in the field because you have so much time on your hands to listen.
- 6:16You are constantly ingesting more information and that's fine.
- 6:19I would rather you listen to that than just music all day long or some talk radio or news for goodness sake.
- 6:25But be very careful to think that learning more information is going to be the solve for your business.
- 6:30It's going to be taking one bit piece of information and then likely putting huge amounts of effort and energy and time over the course of months to execute it in your business.
- 6:39In order to see a result, three things need to happen.
- 6:42I need to identify a problem, I need to identify a solution, and then I need to go execute.
- 6:47And most of us get caught in this loop of one and two.
- 6:50We see problems in our business, we see solutions.
- 6:52We hear about it on a podcast, we see it in a book.
- 6:54We watch it in a video.
- 6:55I guess you wouldn't see it in a book.
- 6:56You would hear it or listen to it or read it in a book.
- 6:59And then we go right back to, oh, there's another problem in my business.
- 7:01Oh my goodness, some huge influencer said this on their podcast, I should do that same thing.
- 7:06Okay, so problem, solution, problem, solution, problem, solution, problem, solution.
- 7:10But if you never execute, the loop is never completed, and you never achieve progress.
- 7:16And so be very careful as we get into this world where more and more content will be made.
- 7:20AI will make it easier to get the input.
- 7:23It'll become easier and easier to know what to do right in your business.
- 7:27It'll become easier and easier to input all of your information into an AI model.
- 7:31I literally created this thing for myself.
- 7:33MikeAndy.com slash AI.
- 7:34It's completely free for everyone.
- 7:36You can input all your financials.
- 7:37It'll go through 20 million words that I've said online and then tell you exactly what to do in your business.
- 7:42Okay.
- 7:43and it won't do you a single bit of good if you don't execute.
- 7:47And so if you constantly are getting, what's wrong with my business, here's the solution.
- 7:51And then because of this, we think we're a good student.
- 7:54It's like, well, if I went and talked to this person, I'd ask them these three questions.
- 7:57And then if I talked to this other person, I'd ask these questions.
- 7:59And I just talked to someone the other day, like 30 questions from him.
- 8:02I'm like, you gotta figure out which one of these questions actually are most important, prioritize.
- 8:08We will get the answer and then you need to execute on it because I would rather have the wrong answer But with a hundred percent execution then the right answer with zero percent execution And so instead of trying to get the perfect pick instead of trying to make every single decision perfect take action massive action
- 8:28on the current one constraint that you've identified inside the business and don't spend all day long trying to figure out what that constraint is.
- 8:35Because here's the thing, there's 100 problems with my business, your business, and every other business.
- 8:40The only job you have as the founder when you're growing is to identify which one should I be allocating my attention and resources towards, which one should I be focused on, and complete the loop of problem, solution, execute, execute, execute.
- 8:53The person that executes the most grows the biggest business.
- 8:56There are plenty of people that become armchair quarterbacks for their business and for everyone else's business.
- 9:01And they've listened to every podcast.
- 9:03They know every influencer.
- 9:04They listen to every single book.
- 9:05They listen to any time and influencers like doing tiers of books.
- 9:09They know every single one like, oh, yeah, I've done the seven habits, successful people.
- 9:13I know the offers book.
- 9:14Okay.
- 9:14Yeah.
- 9:15I know Dale Carnegie.
- 9:16I know that book.
- 9:17Okay.
- 9:17And they know all this information.
- 9:19And yet they still have not built the business that serves them, their family, their team, and achieving their goals.
- 9:25But yet they know everything of what they should do.
- 9:27And they have the answer for everything.
- 9:28And they can break things apart.
- 9:30And they can analyze and overanalyze and just fail to execute.
- 9:34So I encourage you today, stop watching this video.
- 9:37Stop watching the next 10 videos.
- 9:38Stop doom scrolling.
- 9:39Stop talking to AI and getting a hundred different ideas of what you should change in your business.
- 9:43Take the one thing that you already know you gotta figure out.
- 9:46If it's hiring more people, just focus on that.
- 9:49That's the only thing to focus on.
- 9:50You don't need to learn 20 different ways to get new employees.
- 9:53Take the one thing that's worked and just do more of it and get better at it.
- 9:55Get better at refining your interview questions.
- 9:57Get better at refining how your job ad looks.
- 10:00Get better at making sure that you follow up with an applicant before they show up to their interview.
- 10:04So they actually show up.
- 10:05And once they actually get the job offer signed, that you follow up with them again to ensure they show up for day one.
- 10:10And then you refine your training process.
- 10:12You know what to do.
- 10:13And so many times I know business owners know exactly what to do and the only thing that's holding them back is execution.
- 10:19And so the only help I want you to get, the only thing I want you to reach out externally and try to pull in towards you is someone that will keep you accountable to execution.
- 10:26Don't listen to what I'm saying, listen to what I'm doing.
- 10:29And right now in the home service boardroom, the only thing we focus on is accountability.
- 10:33We literally track every single member as to whether or not they're completing each monthly challenge.
- 10:37And so if you need to go out and get a coach or a community or someone else to hold you accountable to taking execution on the thing you know you need to do in the business, in my opinion, that's the only help you need.
