- 0:52Speaker 4: Hop Uni love.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Just like so, I had this great start in mind
- 0:59Speaker 1: that I I o myself a message to and then
- 1:02Speaker 1: I didn't bring it in. So would you do this, Caleb?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Would you pull up the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving theme song
- 1:10Speaker 1: for me? It'll be very recognizable and very easy for everybody,
- 1:15Speaker 1: not the Christmas the Thanksgiving theme song. I hate interrupting
- 1:23Speaker 1: the Beatles. So the reason I'm doing this fifty two
- 1:31Speaker 1: years ago today, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving debut on CBS. Now
- 1:38Speaker 1: now I can't even see the dang thing anymore. I
- 1:41Speaker 1: think it's on Apple or something like that, or Hulu
- 1:45Speaker 1: or Disney. I think Apple got the rights to him, right.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So I don't get to see that Charlie Brown Christmas anymore,
- 1:53Speaker 1: even though I'm sure I can pull it up. I
- 1:56Speaker 1: don't get to see Charlie Brown Thanksgiving anymore. I don't
- 1:59Speaker 1: get Charlie Brown Halloween anymore with a great pumpkin Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: the great pumpkin man. I hate that anyway. Fifty two
- 2:10Speaker 1: years ago today, Good gosh, do you realize I was
- 2:16Speaker 1: in college. Then I was a young man. Then, Caleb,
- 2:21Speaker 1: you were a long way from even being on the earth.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Then fifty two years Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and they screwed
- 2:28Speaker 1: it all up.
- 2:29Speaker 5: They're really good at.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It, all right. That's just all I wanted to say
- 2:33Speaker 1: about that. This portion of the show is brought to
- 2:35Speaker 1: you by Central Texas Sports Medicine. We're gonna hear from
- 2:39Speaker 1: Demetrius crownover coming up. We've got a high school report
- 2:43Speaker 1: coming up and a legend. We have a legend in
- 2:47Speaker 1: music coming up. We're gonna be playing some of his
- 2:49Speaker 1: music too, Freddie Boom Boom cannon he has and we're
- 2:55Speaker 1: gonna play this Christmas song, Red Coat Santa. He has
- 2:59Speaker 1: a single out. This guy appeared on American Bandstand one
- 3:06Speaker 1: hundred and ten times more than any other performer on
- 3:12Speaker 1: American Bandstand. His first time was in nineteen fifty nine
- 3:20Speaker 1: and he had a hit record called Tallahassee Lassie. But
- 3:26Speaker 1: in nineteen sixty two everything changed when Palisades Park came out.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He said, he bet he played that fifteen or twenty
- 3:36Speaker 1: times on American Bandstand. So Freddie Boom Boom Cannon is
- 3:41Speaker 1: going to join us this hour. We've got the Clark
- 3:45Speaker 1: Eisenhower Edition. In the second hour, I'm going to be
- 3:49Speaker 1: visiting with a district manager for the Texas Parks and Wildlife,
- 3:57Speaker 1: Patrick Ireland. He's in the Austin San Marcos area. They
- 4:02Speaker 1: had an open forum Monday at Lake Buchanan talking about
- 4:07Speaker 1: the effects of the flood this last July on the
- 4:13Speaker 1: waters around there, the fisheries around there. So Patrick Ireland
- 4:17Speaker 1: is going to join us in the second hour on
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition. The end appears near for
- 4:25Speaker 1: mac Rhodes at Baylor. Multiple reports, confirmed by the Dallas
- 4:30Speaker 1: Morning News is that the two sides are in discussions
- 4:35Speaker 1: for a separation agreement. The school announced last week Rhodes
- 4:40Speaker 1: was taking a leave of absence for quote personal reasons.
- 4:44Speaker 1: He stepped away or was dismissed from the chairman of
- 4:48Speaker 1: the college Football Playoff Committee. They said at the time
- 4:53Speaker 1: rhodes leave was unrelated to a sideline incident that occurred
- 4:57Speaker 1: back in September with Baylor tight end Michael Trigg, which
- 5:01Speaker 1: was just really strange with him berating Trigg for the
- 5:05Speaker 1: undershirt he had under his uniform on the sideline that day.
- 5:11Speaker 1: There's obviously other things going on there, but apparently rhodes
- 5:15Speaker 1: tenure is done in Waco. Now, I won't say that
- 5:21Speaker 1: that's very ugly and brings up very ugly things that
- 5:25Speaker 1: used to happen in wacoed A and m defensive end
- 5:28Speaker 1: Cash is al finalists for the Bronco Nagirsky Award. That's
- 5:33Speaker 1: one award I haven't voted on. The no Girsky Award
- 5:36Speaker 1: will be announced December the eighth. It's awarded the best
- 5:42Speaker 1: defensive player in college football, presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Steve's Sarkisian won't let it go at a news conference
- 5:51Speaker 1: in Austin today. He is still talking about reports that
- 5:55Speaker 1: he is leaving. Quote maybe for some of the pundits
- 5:59Speaker 1: out there that don't cover me and cover our program
- 6:02Speaker 1: on a regular basis, so that they can understand that
- 6:06Speaker 1: they can't just take their trash out and then have
- 6:09Speaker 1: a thought, Hey, I think that Texas is going to
- 6:12Speaker 1: have a job opening. I don't know, said Sark. Think
- 6:16Speaker 1: about something else when you're taking the trash out. A
- 6:19Speaker 1: shot across the bout to Desmond Howard, who had a
- 6:23Speaker 1: little video clip on this social media about that earlier
- 6:27Speaker 1: in the week. Now, this is what we've all been
- 6:31Speaker 1: waiting for. I believe College Football Playoff has announced the
- 6:36Speaker 1: musical lineup for the championship. Okay, I got to tell you,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I haven't heard of one of these people in my life, Caleb.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Here's the lineup Miami Beach and then at hard Rock
- 6:57Speaker 1: before the game. Kat Luna is going to be Oh,
- 7:01Speaker 1: she's good. Yeah he I don't know. Now, I don't
- 7:05Speaker 1: know who that is. At Miami Beach. Leading up to
- 7:10Speaker 1: the big game, we'll have DJ and songwriter Calvin Harris.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Did he use to date h Taylor? Didn't he used
- 7:22Speaker 1: to date T Swift? Calvin Harris, am I am I
- 7:25Speaker 1: misremembering that.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Ha.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I don't know why I know that exactly. That's the
- 7:31Speaker 1: kind of stuff that's in here. And I can't think
- 7:34Speaker 1: of what happened yesterday because of this kind of crap.
- 7:39Speaker 1: John Summitt do we know John Summitt?
- 7:42Speaker 6: No?
- 7:43Speaker 1: Xandra? Do we know Xandra?
- 7:47Speaker 3: No?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Paso Pluma? Do we know Paeso Pluma? Latin Mafia? I
- 7:57Speaker 1: think I've heard of Latin.
- 7:58Speaker 7: Mafia and wait for it, greasy or is it gree icy?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Probably gree icy. Huh. This is the highlight people, I'm
- 8:16Speaker 1: just telling you. I mean, if that doesn't want, if
- 8:21Speaker 1: that doesn't make you want to get tickets to the
- 8:24Speaker 1: championship game, plus the Aggies being there with this musical lineup,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I mean, what more could you want? SEC basketball tonight
- 8:35Speaker 1: Tennessee State at Tennessee, Texas, Southern at Vanderbilt, South Dakota
- 8:40Speaker 1: at Missouri, Oral Roberts at Oklahoma, and the Hall of
- 8:43Speaker 1: Fame Classic Mississippi State Kansas State that's on Peacock late.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I won't be watching that. Have you heard of any
- 8:51Speaker 1: of those people?
- 8:53Speaker 4: Good?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Good? Usually I'm the last to know, but but I
- 8:59Speaker 1: got that Calvin Hara, didn't I I stepped right up
- 9:01Speaker 1: on that. Calvin Harris Memphis and Purdue this afternoon. Oh
- 9:07Speaker 1: that's a that's at five o'clock. Are you telling me
- 9:10Speaker 1: this is Central time?
- 9:11Speaker 8: Right?
- 9:11Speaker 1: We've had this discussion before. Okay, it's on CBS Sports
- 9:15Speaker 1: Memphis and Purdue.
- 9:19Speaker 9: Wow.
- 9:19Speaker 1: That that Yukon Arizona game last night, that was fun.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I gotta tell you that was That was some high
- 9:26Speaker 1: quality basketball. Uh Buck mel Saint John's Tennessee State. I
- 9:32Speaker 1: mentioned Tennessee Wake Forest and Texas Tech. That's a seven
- 9:36Speaker 1: thirty game following the Memphis Purdue game on CBS Sports
- 9:39Speaker 1: Network and Rider and the number two Houston Cougars and
- 9:44Speaker 1: that's on tn T.
- 9:45Speaker 10: The Memphis game and Wake for Texas Tech are both.
- 9:48Speaker 4: In the Mohammas.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Oh they're in the Bahamas.
- 9:51Speaker 9: Wow.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'd like to be in the Mohammas. Should be over
- 9:53Speaker 1: there covering those games. Hall of Fame left handed Randy
- 9:56Speaker 1: Johnson's going to have his number fifty one retired by
- 9:59Speaker 1: this Seattle Mariners Molly question is what took them so long?
- 10:05Speaker 1: He'll be the fifth number retired Junior Griffy, Edgar Martinez,
- 10:11Speaker 1: Ichi Ro of course, Jackie Robinson and Randy Johnson said,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm happy my contributions over the ten years that I
- 10:21Speaker 1: was there being acknowledged. It's been a long time, that's
- 10:24Speaker 1: for sure. No kidding. What took them so long? That's crazy.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Astros have traded Mauricio Dubon to the Atlanta Braves YEP
- 10:37Speaker 1: in exchange for infielder Nick Allen. Allen hit two twenty
- 10:42Speaker 1: one with eleven doubles and twenty two RBI. He was
- 10:47Speaker 1: a finalist for the Gold Glove at shortstop this year.
- 10:52Speaker 1: So Dubon is out, Nick Allen is in. I bet
- 10:57Speaker 1: Nick Allen comes cheaper.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 7: Uh.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Major League Baseball, which mounts last year they're kicking in.
- 11:06Speaker 1: ESPN out has secured a new deal with ESPN and
- 11:10Speaker 1: NBC and Netflix. ESPN will get the majority of the package,
- 11:15Speaker 1: NBC gets first Round playoffs and Sunday Night Baseball. Remember
- 11:20Speaker 1: ESPN Sunday Night Baseball been a fixture forever, and Netflix
- 11:24Speaker 1: will air an opening game, primetime game, the Home Run Derby,
- 11:29Speaker 1: and the Field of Dreams game. And former Canadian Olympic
- 11:34Speaker 1: snowboarder Ryan Wedding has been indicted on multiple charges related
- 11:39Speaker 1: to alleged drug trafficking. FBI director Cash Battel. Attorney General
- 11:44Speaker 1: Penn Bondi announced the charges against Wedding. The FBI is
- 11:48Speaker 1: offering fifteen million dollars for information leading to his arrest.
- 11:55Speaker 1: He's accused of trafficking drugs, primarily cocaine and fentanyl between
- 11:59Speaker 1: mex the US in Canada. Bondi said Wedding is the
- 12:04Speaker 1: largest distributor of cocaine in Canada that he imports sixty
- 12:11Speaker 1: metric tons a year from Mexico in a billion dollar operation.
- 12:20Speaker 1: One of the most prolific and violent drug trafficking organizers
- 12:26Speaker 1: in the world Wawser's and they don't know where he is.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I'm telling you, if he has sold that much coke
- 12:35Speaker 1: over the years, he's on an island where you probably
- 12:39Speaker 1: can never find him. All Right, We'll take a break
- 12:42Speaker 1: to Meetrius crown Over when we come back. Final Lap
- 12:45Speaker 1: brought to you by Enco Insurance.
- 12:47Speaker 11: Enco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing

- 13:13Speaker 11: co Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Twenty twenty five NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Carl Edwards.
- 13:23Speaker 3: And that's the part. That's what I was trying to say.
- 13:25Speaker 3: It's so competitive, and I think, did we talk about
- 13:28Speaker 3: this the other day? It's so competitive. I remember looking
- 13:31Speaker 3: back and I mean I genuinely did not like this person,
- 13:35Speaker 3: this person, and I'm like, we're going to beat them,
- 13:37Speaker 3: and I'm going to beat them and I want to.
- 13:38Speaker 3: It was like a and yeah, I look back.
- 13:40Speaker 12: And we were so stupid.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I mean, you know, you could do that on the track.
- 13:43Speaker 3: It'd be even more fun to just do it there
- 13:45Speaker 3: and they'd be like, oh, hell with it afterwards. I
- 13:46Speaker 3: do remember Greg biffils Zip tied my mountain bike to
- 13:49Speaker 3: chain link fence once, but in the motorhome lot. I
- 13:54Speaker 3: thought that was pretty funny. But yeah, yeah, it's hard
- 13:56Speaker 3: to balance that when you're in it. I mean, we're competitive.
- 13:58Speaker 3: It's hard to do it, just hard to do It's
- 14:01Speaker 3: hard to have that mindset, you know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I heard somebody one time. I heard one driver said like,
- 14:07Speaker 3: you know, I come there to get my money, my trophy,
- 14:10Speaker 3: and go home and feed my family. And I thought
- 14:12Speaker 3: that sounds pretty good. So that's the vow I took
- 14:14Speaker 3: early on, and it that doesn't leave much room for
- 14:18Speaker 3: practical joking. So people who know you, what they know
- 14:22Speaker 3: about you is your character. And I realized right then,
- 14:25Speaker 3: I was like, screw it. It's gonna be a long,
- 14:26Speaker 3: painful process, but I'm going to try to treat people
- 14:29Speaker 3: around me well. And if people figure that out, fine,
- 14:32Speaker 3: I don't give a damn about my reputation. It was
- 14:34Speaker 3: a really big moment for me and very difficult for
- 14:37Speaker 3: me to do because I'm a performer, you know. I
- 14:40Speaker 3: want people to clap for me and like me, and
- 14:42Speaker 3: it's very hard for me.
- 14:43Speaker 1: You're on the final app.
- 14:47Speaker 13: At Sketchers. Comfort is it technology?
- 14:50Speaker 14: That's right.
- 14:50Speaker 13: It doesn't just happen. You don't just make a show.
- 14:52Speaker 13: It hope becomes uncomfortable. It takes research, innovations, compounds, engineering,
- 14:56Speaker 13: and somebody the boring things we don't really want to
- 14:58Speaker 13: get into because it gives us time to talk about
- 15:01Speaker 13: the exciting stuff. Your comfort. You see Sketches watching to
- 15:04Speaker 13: feel so comfortable you swear you wearing pillows on your feet.
- 15:06Speaker 13: So we have features like Sketchers Air Cool memory phone

- 15:33Speaker 13: So you see, comfort is a technology and nobody, and
- 15:37Speaker 13: I mean nobody does comfort like Sketchers, the Comfort Technology Company.

- 15:44Speaker 13: or wherever comfortable footwear is sold.
- 15:47Speaker 15: Ball Spincher Ekee Football Senturdays starting with a game day show,

- 15:53Speaker 15: a Sony eleven fifty AM and ninety three point seven FM.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Last Night along every time.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Let's see what I see.
- 16:19Speaker 1: A massive hit in nineteen sixty two with Freddy Boom
- 16:26Speaker 1: Boom Can and he will join us here in about
- 16:29Speaker 1: thirty minutes. He has a single, a Christmas rocker called
- 16:35Speaker 1: Redcoat Santa, which I just like, I'm not saying that.
- 16:39Speaker 1: You know, we have not a lot of good Christmas
- 16:41Speaker 1: rock and roll music lately.
- 16:43Speaker 7: Not like uh.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Jingle Bell Rock uh and rock around the Christmas Tree
- 16:50Speaker 1: and Run Run Rudolph and Christmas Baby Please Come Home.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Those are classics, all right?
- 16:59Speaker 7: Uh?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Tomorrow Kirk Bowles and Tony Catalina and Young on air Ryan.
- 17:05Speaker 1: That's tomorrow. Let's hear from Demitrius crown Over, who met
- 17:10Speaker 1: with the media Tuesday.
- 17:14Speaker 16: Senior Day Approaches, Just kind of what's the thoughts and
- 17:16Speaker 16: emotions for you fossily playing your last.
- 17:19Speaker 12: Time at Kyle Kiel.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it means a lot, just knowing going
- 17:23Speaker 4: out there in my last time, everybody with the support.
- 17:25Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just thankful I made it this far.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I mean, I want to just think my parents, think
- 17:31Speaker 4: the coaches for a louting me to come out here
- 17:33Speaker 4: and do what I want to do. What you thought
- 17:35Speaker 4: about your journey, Just start the treats and tackle.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Do you ever think you'd kind of get to this
- 17:41Speaker 2: ty of your career?
- 17:43Speaker 15: Uh?
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I mean even out of high school, I
- 17:45Speaker 4: wasn't even strip if I wasn't play football and end up
- 17:47Speaker 4: winning said those two years kind of blew up. But
- 17:50Speaker 4: just thinking about on it now, I mean it's kind
- 17:52Speaker 4: of crazy. Yeah, I know, it's yeah, definitely just crazy.
- 17:58Speaker 16: I feel like it was the biggest key for you
- 17:59Speaker 16: to switch positions and now having the success that you
- 18:02Speaker 16: have it as the starting right tackles season.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Uh, just the trust I've had from my teammates and
- 18:08Speaker 4: my coaches and they're they trusted in me to make
- 18:12Speaker 4: the switch, and yeah, it's made this offensive.
- 18:16Speaker 12: Line if you get it. Just so so good to
- 18:17Speaker 12: shot be different swat year.
- 18:21Speaker 4: I don't know about difference last year. I just know
- 18:23Speaker 4: we took we was a mission to take pride in
- 18:26Speaker 4: what we got going on this year and knowing I
- 18:29Speaker 4: mean it's a lot of these guys last year, we
- 18:30Speaker 4: want to go out and leave a legacy on this place.
- 18:34Speaker 17: Hey.
- 18:34Speaker 12: You know, usually when you have a older brother, the
- 18:37Speaker 12: older girl that kind of looks out for you and
- 18:38Speaker 12: it takes up for you and nobody else.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Yeah, what was that the case with you and earlth
- 18:42Speaker 4: Uh yeah, we have to look out for him.
- 18:44Speaker 6: Nah.
- 18:44Speaker 4: We uh real real tight family. I mean I got
- 18:47Speaker 4: uh five boys, one girl, so we always were rolling deep.
- 18:51Speaker 4: I mean everybody took care of everybody.
- 18:53Speaker 12: Are you the biggest one of the family.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Yeah, my closest to me, mean brotherwise, I have an
- 19:00Speaker 4: older brother that's six three six four and my dad
- 19:04Speaker 4: six fix.
- 19:06Speaker 12: What is you have any idea what the pochm goals were, Mike.
- 19:10Speaker 4: H I mean, let's just say, a lot of spaghetti,
- 19:12Speaker 4: a lot of chicken spaghetti, a lot of eggs. But
- 19:16Speaker 4: I'm sure it wasn't cheap.
- 19:18Speaker 5: What made you want to come back to this five year.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Knowing that a lot of guys were coming back, and
- 19:25Speaker 4: then knowing just that I could take another year to develop.
- 19:28Speaker 4: I mean there was no point not too How do
- 19:32Speaker 4: you how do you make the most talment?
- 19:34Speaker 12: How do you make the most of your time lefting
- 19:36Speaker 12: a cap?
- 19:37Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 19:39Speaker 4: Definitely just hanging out with the guys. I mean there's
- 19:42Speaker 4: not a lot of Like you said, there's not a
- 19:45Speaker 4: lot of time left even thinking about it, like Tom
- 19:46Speaker 4: Flo's while you're here just making those relationships and build
- 19:49Speaker 4: those relationships great.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Can you say that you came here for the section
- 19:53Speaker 2: you're going to develop yourself? Would have been those breadst developments.
- 19:55Speaker 4: For dress guys one more time sorry.
- 19:58Speaker 18: Would have been the greatest developments for you spy as shoot.
- 20:01Speaker 4: I think it's just trust in my game, knowing my
- 20:04Speaker 4: ability to do what I have to do, I think
- 20:06Speaker 4: is the biggest thing.
- 20:08Speaker 19: Must have been, like you know, kind of starts off
- 20:10Speaker 19: maybe a little rough with the twenty two season.
- 20:13Speaker 4: The coach are.
- 20:14Speaker 20: Pretty that you got fired and now here you are.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Of your career and Artano thor the rankings.
- 20:20Speaker 4: How rewarding has this year been after Maybe some of
- 20:22Speaker 4: those struggles are help a lot. I mean just sticking
- 20:26Speaker 4: through it and knowing that it all led up to
- 20:29Speaker 4: something that could be great. I think it's just super awarding.
- 20:33Speaker 16: What do you think is maybe shot out to you
- 20:34Speaker 16: about the senior class in particular given all the highs
- 20:38Speaker 16: lows changes that you guys have been through and just
- 20:40Speaker 16: the different pieces.
- 20:41Speaker 21: That have come in.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Uh yeah, I mean they care for the game they got.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I mean not just their life and how they're gonna
- 20:49Speaker 4: live at but how the team and everybody's gonna do
- 20:52Speaker 4: as a unit.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You guys came in the season with a lot of
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know, hopes to win the Joe Moore Award, go
- 20:57Speaker 1: to the playoffs with all those still obtainable.
- 20:59Speaker 4: How I'm saying, how focused that you guys going into
- 21:01Speaker 4: this week?
- 21:02Speaker 3: Uh?
- 21:02Speaker 9: Lot?
- 21:03Speaker 4: I mean, we know what we gotta do this week.
- 21:05Speaker 4: We got a lot ahead of us. I mean, knowing
- 21:08Speaker 4: it's not our last game, knowing we've still got games left.
- 21:11Speaker 4: We just gotta take product at.
- 21:13Speaker 12: What do you think, uh, coming back from your twenty
- 21:15Speaker 12: seven point deficit, winning? What do you think that does
- 21:18Speaker 12: for y'all moving forward? If anything?
- 21:21Speaker 4: I think it I would say it just makes let
- 21:24Speaker 4: us know that we can do a lot more, Like
- 21:26Speaker 4: we got a lot left in the tank. Like if
- 21:28Speaker 4: we could do we could start at the game like
- 21:29Speaker 4: that help them out. We've been up their mean up
- 21:32Speaker 4: to sixty. I mean, we just know we got more
- 21:34Speaker 4: in the tank. We know we can do more.
- 21:35Speaker 12: What's it gonna take to then start off with.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Uh this coming out like today and having a good day,
- 21:41Speaker 4: having a good day of practice. Just making sure we
- 21:43Speaker 4: take every day and make sure we don't take it
- 21:45Speaker 4: for granted.
- 21:45Speaker 3: What ad y'all spins?
- 21:46Speaker 14: Do you feel y'all have to make it?
- 21:47Speaker 4: How does this studer tight turn it's one more time?
- 21:50Speaker 1: Does the a j'all spins that your lot has to
- 21:52Speaker 1: be ahead of the Saturday?
- 21:53Speaker 7: Uh?
- 21:54Speaker 4: Yeah, we know. It's really just about us and how
- 21:58Speaker 4: we play our game. I mean, if we come out
- 21:59Speaker 4: every we can, we play the best of our abilities,
- 22:02Speaker 4: we won't have any problems. I mean knowing that we
- 22:05Speaker 4: just have to make sure we take pride of that.
- 22:07Speaker 12: What's it like? Uh in Spring called going against uh.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Cassius and uh do you feel like that maybe maybe
- 22:12Speaker 3: all better?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Uh? It's fun and it's a battle every day. I
- 22:16Speaker 4: mean especially you know Spring Camp. Uh, just knowing that
- 22:19Speaker 4: every day I'm gonna get his best and he's gonna
- 22:21Speaker 4: get mine. It definitely is an iron trap or iron
- 22:24Speaker 4: type of thing.
- 22:24Speaker 12: H How good is his best?
- 22:28Speaker 4: Dude's outrageous? I mean, you know, you get it, especially
- 22:32Speaker 4: like I would call it a flow state. Is like
- 22:34Speaker 4: some players getting this flow state. If you catch him
- 22:36Speaker 4: in one of those, it's yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 18: So family wise, have the world's coming into the game,
- 22:44Speaker 18: and and like what uh what.
- 22:46Speaker 22: All are you gonna be doing for Senior Day festivities?
- 22:50Speaker 4: Anybody that I have ititated for us coming to the game.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Most likely would be my my wife, my mom, my dad,
- 22:57Speaker 4: and my wife's mom. And I think my brother's coming. Actually,
- 23:00Speaker 4: I think I'm extra for my brother, So we'll do that,
- 23:04Speaker 4: and then I'm sure I think we're gonna have a
- 23:05Speaker 4: big cookout after it's I think me and my dad
- 23:07Speaker 4: are gonna get on the grill and just cook, do
- 23:08Speaker 4: a little cooking. What's gonna be on the menu?
- 23:11Speaker 19: Uh?
- 23:12Speaker 4: I actually, Uh, you got a deer the other day
- 23:14Speaker 4: and actually all the deer meat just came in, so
- 23:17Speaker 4: we might do some uh burgers, some uh something like that.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I think you can't talk about like where some lessons
- 23:23Speaker 2: like this season and the seasons.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Possibly you can take it with you heading insta your coach.
- 23:26Speaker 4: You guys, I think it's like I said earlier, Uh,
- 23:30Speaker 4: don't take anything for granted. I mean tom Flies, I
- 23:33Speaker 4: mean next year hopefully god Win all be in the NFL,
- 23:36Speaker 4: and uh, just go through every day and make sure
- 23:40Speaker 4: you make some special out of it.
- 23:41Speaker 12: What's it like being coached by head Christian?
- 23:44Speaker 4: It's great. I mean he's a great guy. He knows
- 23:46Speaker 4: what he's talking about. And like I said earlier, the
- 23:49Speaker 4: trust he has for his players I think is outstanding.
- 23:53Speaker 22: I think you said earlier you can work hurt.
- 23:56Speaker 19: You're gonna play football when you're in high school?
- 23:57Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 23:58Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 23:59Speaker 4: What was that all about?
- 24:00Speaker 6: And what led you to?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Yeah? So I was. I played basketball a lot au
- 24:05Speaker 4: it was mostly all just basketball. So I was like,
- 24:08Speaker 4: I'm just gonna play basketball. I'm gonna go play basketball somewhere.
- 24:11Speaker 4: And then we ended up winning those two state games.
- 24:14Speaker 4: And then I was like, Okay, a lot can play
- 24:16Speaker 4: football now. And I for sure got a scholarship to
- 24:19Speaker 4: go play football. So I ended up just making a switch.
- 24:22Speaker 22: I think you would play for y You think you
- 24:25Speaker 22: could play for Bucket right now?
- 24:26Speaker 17: Oh?
- 24:26Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure? For sure. I'd have to lose a
- 24:27Speaker 4: little weight. Uh, definitely get back down. It's some running weight,
- 24:31Speaker 4: but yeah, for sure.
- 24:33Speaker 16: Where do you feel like you've improved the most in
- 24:34Speaker 16: your game that has allowed you to get to this level?
- 24:41Speaker 4: I would say my footwork has gotten a lot better.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Uh just just step wise, just every steps in run game,
- 24:52Speaker 4: pass game has gotten my bucky.
- 24:54Speaker 12: Hey, since you're a basketball player and Marcel was who would.
- 24:57Speaker 23: Be who'd win a game of one on one?
- 25:00Speaker 4: Am I my prime prime shade. I think I'm beating
- 25:04Speaker 4: him right now. I'm I won't be able to keep way.
- 25:07Speaker 4: He's too quick. I won't be able to keep on.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, he has no chance. If if I
- 25:13Speaker 4: start with ball and we're playing make it, take it,
- 25:14Speaker 4: he's not getting the ball.
- 25:16Speaker 16: You have three other guys you pick from the football team.
- 25:18Speaker 4: To make a start in five starting five. I put
- 25:23Speaker 4: Marcel at my one, I put Rylan Kennedy at my two,
- 25:30Speaker 4: putting Cash at my three. I'm going to the four,
- 25:33Speaker 4: and Douce fall. He's going to the fall. Okay, right,
- 25:36Speaker 4: I have a good rap.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I think that's Demetrious crowd over that. That's a heavy
- 25:42Speaker 1: starting five. That's a that's that's a pretty opposing starting five.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 1: They would kind of look like, uh Perdue. I don't
- 25:53Speaker 1: know if you've watched Perdue, but those guys are huge
- 25:56Speaker 1: and you know what, I watched Ukon last night against
- 25:58Speaker 1: Arizona at Yukon's huge too. Yeah, so that's that would
- 26:06Speaker 1: be uh, it'd be a nice little starting five show up.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Who's got next? Yeah, we do. And I like the
- 26:16Speaker 1: fact that if they're playing one on one, he goes, look,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I'm going to the post. Marcelle's not going to stop
- 26:22Speaker 1: me in the post. I'm going yeah, probably not. You know,
- 26:27Speaker 1: that's probably not gonna happen. So that was pretty good.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Demetrious Crown over coming up. We've got a high school report.
- 26:36Speaker 1: We're gonna visit with Freddie Boom Boom Cannon next week.
- 26:42Speaker 1: In fact, let's do the Friday's Fearless while I'm thinking

- 27:46Speaker 1: it count. We're getting down to the d someone is

- 28:26Speaker 1: You will have until Thursday at eleven am, because that's
- 28:31Speaker 1: when I don't know, football games kick off. That's when
- 28:34Speaker 1: we've always done it, even though I know that there's
- 28:36Speaker 1: no college games anymore, which just absolutely sucks. But we
- 28:41Speaker 1: won't talk about that anymore. You know how I feel
- 28:44Speaker 1: about that. But anyway how I feel about it is,
- 28:48Speaker 1: let's play football on Thanksgiving the way God intended it
- 28:52Speaker 1: to be and screw the NFL. If people want to
- 28:55Speaker 1: watch the Lions and the Bears at eleven am, That's fine,
- 28:59Speaker 1: I don't. I want to watch college football. Some of
- 29:03Speaker 1: the greatest games ever played were on Thanksgiving. Anyway, I digress,
- 29:11Speaker 1: where was I? Yes, next week, short week games up Monday.
- 29:15Speaker 1: You'll have it until Thursday. Don't say I didn't moarn you.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I did the way I usually do. Monday, we'll have
- 29:21Speaker 1: the writers round table. It will be a short week.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It will be Texas week. I probably don't have to
- 29:27Speaker 1: remind you of that. And oh, let me just make
- 29:34Speaker 1: a quick check for those of you who haven't gotten
- 29:38Speaker 1: an opportunity or haven't been able or to afford to
- 29:45Speaker 1: watch the Aggies play this week. Let me do this
- 29:51Speaker 1: and see the tickets will go down before kickoff. I'm
- 29:55Speaker 1: confident of that. If I want two tickets, fifty nine
- 30:02Speaker 1: dollars right now on seat geek, I think you can
- 30:05Speaker 1: probably do better than that. But fifty nine dollars right
- 30:08Speaker 1: now on seat geek. But again, I would suspect day
- 30:12Speaker 1: of game you can do pretty well if you want
- 30:15Speaker 1: to go to the game on Saturday and haven't been
- 30:18Speaker 1: able to afford to go to games, which I understand

- 33:34Speaker 8: Welcome to the high school Port.
- 33:35Speaker 12: I'm Emiliene's.
- 33:36Speaker 8: Today we're going out to the Polaris Fund centerphone line
- 33:38Speaker 8: to visit with the head football coach for the Rudder Rangers,
- 33:41Speaker 8: Eric Izar.
- 33:42Speaker 20: How are you doing doing great? Thank you for having me.
- 33:45Speaker 8: Yeah, of course, thanks for coming on. At the beginning
- 33:47Speaker 8: of the season, you set certain goals, Which ones did
- 33:49Speaker 8: you meet, which ones did you struggle with? And how
- 33:52Speaker 8: did those goals evolve over time as you watch the
- 33:54Speaker 8: team mature.
- 33:55Speaker 20: Well, you know, I think you know, going into the season,
- 33:58Speaker 20: we knew we were very young. We started thirteen sophomores
- 34:02Speaker 20: and three freshmen. Our goal was to get better every week.
- 34:05Speaker 20: You know, as the season went on and we think
- 34:09Speaker 20: we did that. We won our last game, which is
- 34:11Speaker 20: always you know, you want to do that. It was
- 34:13Speaker 20: a tough season, but we knew kind of playing fifteen
- 34:16Speaker 20: and sixteen year olds verse eighteen year olds wasn't going
- 34:18Speaker 20: to go real well, and nothing about how it happened.
- 34:21Speaker 20: But I think as we go into the offseason and
- 34:23Speaker 20: have the chance to look, you know, for the future,
- 34:25Speaker 20: it's pretty bright and having a lot of kids return,
- 34:28Speaker 20: I think we'll happen in the nine nine back on
- 34:30Speaker 20: offense and nine back on defense. So sometimes you got
- 34:33Speaker 20: to take your lamps to move forward in the future.
- 34:35Speaker 8: Absolutely, And looking back on this season, do you think
- 34:39Speaker 8: that was the biggest challenge just how young the team was?
- 34:41Speaker 8: What do you think the biggest challenge for your team was?
- 34:44Speaker 20: Definitely the age of our kids. We had some you know,
- 34:47Speaker 20: seniors who really stepped up and thought, you know, kept
- 34:49Speaker 20: us in games. AJ Morrison kid who were really going
- 34:53Speaker 20: to miss. On offense, you know, he was the catalyst
- 34:56Speaker 20: for a lot of our wins, sport thirteen touchdowns this year,
- 35:00Speaker 20: you know, so that that we're going to miss him.
- 35:02Speaker 20: And then Brandon Brown on defense, just a lot of
- 35:05Speaker 20: speed coming off the edge, had quite a few sacks,
- 35:08Speaker 20: just may made a lot of plays around the field.
- 35:10Speaker 20: So those guys are going to really miss those guys.
- 35:13Speaker 8: And if you had to pick one game, that was
- 35:15Speaker 8: the greatest internal test for your team. Which game would
- 35:18Speaker 8: that be?
- 35:18Speaker 4: And why?
- 35:21Speaker 20: You know, you know that's internal test. You know, I
- 35:25Speaker 20: think really the chance the other district game that we
- 35:28Speaker 20: really had a chance to really play well against was
- 35:31Speaker 20: probably Belton. Just didn't do very well on offense, we
- 35:35Speaker 20: played pretty good on defense. We lost thirty five to nothing,
- 35:38Speaker 20: but you know, we felt like if we were able
- 35:40Speaker 20: to play our best, we would have a chance to
- 35:42Speaker 20: be in the game. And sometimes a disappointing when you
- 35:44Speaker 20: don't do that, but you know, we really felt defensively
- 35:48Speaker 20: that we played really well as far as holding them,
- 35:52Speaker 20: and they gave the offense and chances if we could
- 35:54Speaker 20: have scored on some drives, I think we could have
- 35:56Speaker 20: got back in the game. So yeah, I was probably
- 35:59Speaker 20: said a Belton game and you know, was one that
- 36:01Speaker 20: we really probably needed to find a way to win.
- 36:02Speaker 20: And you know, I think in some of the other
- 36:04Speaker 20: games we were just outmatched a little bit. But you know,
- 36:07Speaker 20: I think Belton was a chance a game that we
- 36:09Speaker 20: maybe could have won and didn't. And then Lugerville Conley
- 36:12Speaker 20: probably would be another one there they're playing the second
- 36:15Speaker 20: round the playoffs where we played them, well, we just
- 36:17Speaker 20: couldn't get the victory.
- 36:19Speaker 8: And looking ahead, where do you think your team did
- 36:23Speaker 8: really shine this season and what specific areas do you
- 36:26Speaker 8: want to refine in the offseason to build off to
- 36:29Speaker 8: prepare for next season.
- 36:31Speaker 20: Well, you know, I think you know, if you go
- 36:33Speaker 20: back to the last game, you know, I thought we
- 36:35Speaker 20: played pretty well against Waco and that's kind of how
- 36:37Speaker 20: we wanted to play, you know, much of the year.
- 36:39Speaker 20: I mean, Waco had nine sophomore starting so it was
- 36:41Speaker 20: really kind of a game we were more we were
- 36:44Speaker 20: on a field with somebody who were more equal with
- 36:46Speaker 20: and I think it showed. And and you know, defensively,
- 36:49Speaker 20: we were able to get some turnovers, which we hadn't
- 36:51Speaker 20: got most of the year. But we had a defensive touchdown,
- 36:53Speaker 20: two defensive touchdowns which really helped us.
- 36:57Speaker 7: You know.
- 36:58Speaker 20: And then you know, defense we played well enough to
- 37:01Speaker 20: give us a good field position on offense to be
- 37:03Speaker 20: able to score some And so I think we scored
- 37:04Speaker 20: thirty six points, which was big and just give gives
- 37:07Speaker 20: you a good taste going into the offseason.
- 37:10Speaker 8: Yeah, And what have been some critical leadership moments from
- 37:12Speaker 8: the players on the team this season? Is there anyone
- 37:14Speaker 8: who really stepped up this year that you would like
- 37:16Speaker 8: to shut out.
- 37:18Speaker 20: Well, I do think A J. Morrison really, you know,
- 37:20Speaker 20: it's it's tough sometime being a senior on a team
- 37:22Speaker 20: who's you're really young, and and just I really thought
- 37:25Speaker 20: he did a good job of staying positive and being
- 37:27Speaker 20: a leader to those young guys. And so I would
- 37:30Speaker 20: definitely say A J.
- 37:31Speaker 8: Morrison, And what lessons are you taking away from this
- 37:34Speaker 8: season into next season? Is there anything new that you
- 37:37Speaker 8: learned as a coach?
- 37:39Speaker 20: You know, I mean, you know, you'd like to say
- 37:41Speaker 20: you learned a bunch. I just you know, I've been
- 37:43Speaker 20: doing this a long time, and sometimes when you play
- 37:45Speaker 20: with young teams, you know, you kind of know what
- 37:47Speaker 20: the result is going to be a little bit. But
- 37:49Speaker 20: we've got a lot of kids who've got a lot
- 37:51Speaker 20: of experience which will be will pay big dividends in
- 37:54Speaker 20: the future, you know. I mean, I don't know that
- 37:57Speaker 20: there are really lessons we learned, just that you know,
- 38:02Speaker 20: you know, sometimes in the situation when we're playing young guys,
- 38:06Speaker 20: it's just you know, it's fun to watch them grow
- 38:08Speaker 20: and get a little bit better, and to see them,
- 38:11Speaker 20: you know, start from the beginning of the season and
- 38:13Speaker 20: then to build up to the Waco game where we
- 38:15Speaker 20: played well uh and got to win in the end.
- 38:17Speaker 20: So I think everybody felt good about that last game
- 38:20Speaker 20: going into offseason.
- 38:21Speaker 8: Yeah, and it might be kind of hard to gauge
- 38:24Speaker 8: given the youth of the team, But do you feel
- 38:25Speaker 8: like your region and ranking of RUDDER is becoming more
- 38:28Speaker 8: competitive as the years roll on?
- 38:31Speaker 20: Well, I mean yeah, I mean, you know, last year
- 38:33Speaker 20: we were seven and three. I mean, we we've uh,
- 38:35Speaker 20: in the last six years, we've been you know, it's
- 38:38Speaker 20: been the best Rudder years that they've ever had in history.
- 38:42Speaker 20: You know, we've had two seven win seasons, six and
- 38:45Speaker 20: four season, a five and five season.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Uh.
- 38:48Speaker 20: And before that, Rudder really was not much history. It
- 38:50Speaker 20: was a lot of Oin ten's and one and ninees.
- 38:52Speaker 20: And you know, we kind of fell back to a
- 38:54Speaker 20: two and eight this year, but we feel like that's
- 38:56Speaker 20: just an anomaly that we'll be able to get out of, uh,
- 38:59Speaker 20: you know, next year.
- 39:02Speaker 8: Last question for you, coach, looking ahead, what piece of
- 39:05Speaker 8: the program do you believe has the biggest future upside
- 39:08Speaker 8: and potential.
- 39:10Speaker 20: Well, you know, I think one of our weaknesses this
- 39:12Speaker 20: year was our offensive line, but just we had some
- 39:16Speaker 20: you know, two or three sophomores on there. Uh you know,
- 39:18Speaker 20: their strength level really was not where it needed to
- 39:21Speaker 20: be for varsity football, but in the off season just
- 39:23Speaker 20: to see them kind of really grow, really getting the
- 39:26Speaker 20: weight room, get stronger. You know, we have the show.
- 39:29Speaker 20: We have some kids with some really good size who
- 39:31Speaker 20: could get recruited to go play college ball. So I
- 39:34Speaker 20: think the offensive line, which maybe was our weakness this year,
- 39:36Speaker 20: could really end up becoming the strength if the kids
- 39:41Speaker 20: really you know, uh, really put put the work in
- 39:44Speaker 20: and and get better and and you know, get more
- 39:46Speaker 20: athletic and you know, so we have a lot of
- 39:48Speaker 20: our lineman wrestling and powerlifting and so hopefully that'll pay
- 39:53Speaker 20: big dividends for the next two years.
- 39:55Speaker 8: Absolutely, thank you so much for your time, coach.
- 39:58Speaker 20: All right, no problem.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Bye.

- 42:29Speaker 10: Thursday Night Football in primetime tonight at Energy Stadium in Houston,
- 42:33Speaker 10: the Texans hosting the Buffalo Bills. For the Texans, the
- 42:36Speaker 10: big story once again will be Davis Mills starting under
- 42:39Speaker 10: center for the injured CJ. Stroud, who remained sidelined after
- 42:42Speaker 10: suffering the kncussion on November two against the Broncos. Davis
- 42:46Speaker 10: Mills has been vocal about the importance of preparing for
- 42:48Speaker 10: games as the starting quarterback and getting valuable practice reps
- 42:52Speaker 10: as the number one option, and it's shown. The Texans
- 42:55Speaker 10: have not two straight wins with Mills as the quarterback,
- 42:57Speaker 10: and we'll look to get above the five hundred mark
- 42:59Speaker 10: for the time this season.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Mills on running the offense as.
- 43:03Speaker 27: The season progresses the starter, usually it's the bulk of
- 43:05Speaker 27: the reps, but I mean it's it's been good. We've
- 43:07Speaker 27: got a lot of really valuable reps these last couple weeks,
- 43:10Speaker 27: and I feel like the offense has a good feel
- 43:12Speaker 27: for each other and we've been meshing well. So it's
- 43:15Speaker 27: been fun to continue to develop and go out there
- 43:18Speaker 27: and play with these guys.

- 47:11Speaker 1: an eight. Earlier today I had a chance to visit
- 47:17Speaker 1: with the legend Freddie Boom boom cannon, Freddie.
- 47:21Speaker 4: How you doing all right?
- 47:24Speaker 9: Who's this Kim?
- 47:25Speaker 1: Yes, sir, good to have you on.
- 47:28Speaker 9: All right, buddy, I'm right here, okay, Hey, how.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Come it's been twenty three years since you've done Christmas music?
- 47:36Speaker 9: Well, I don't know. I don't know what inspired me,
- 47:39Speaker 9: like I said, but I'm really proud of this song
- 47:43Speaker 9: in the Red Coat Santa that I wrote, and I
- 47:46Speaker 9: think we may just have a hit. I don't know.
- 47:50Speaker 9: It sounds like it's a lot of things are happening
- 47:53Speaker 9: out there, getting a lot of air play, and there's
- 47:56Speaker 9: a big buzz out there with the song.
- 47:58Speaker 1: You know, music's just a little bit different than it
- 48:01Speaker 1: was sixty three years ago when Pallisades Park came out,
- 48:05Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 48:06Speaker 9: Yes, it is. It's different. Well, you can't buy a
- 48:09Speaker 9: record anymore, exactly. My song is on YouTube and it's
- 48:14Speaker 9: on Spotify and Apple Music, you know, the streaming this thing,
- 48:19Speaker 9: so that's where you can find a song. But you know,
- 48:23Speaker 9: the days of the record business was it was very
- 48:27Speaker 9: exciting when it when it came around, you know, and
- 48:30Speaker 9: I'm sure you know all.
- 48:31Speaker 1: That, yes, sir, h how did you get the name
- 48:34Speaker 1: boom boom? Where'd that come from?
- 48:37Speaker 9: That came from the disc jockeys in Boston. When I
- 48:41Speaker 9: come from Massachusetts, the radio station in Boston w e X,
- 48:47Speaker 9: the jocks on that station will giving me nicknames. I
- 48:51Speaker 9: had Tallahassee Lassie. They were calling me Freddy Cannon shot
- 48:54Speaker 9: from Guns, Pet Guns Daddy, and then they said boom boom,
- 48:59Speaker 9: and that's that's the one that sucks. Kept playing it
- 49:02Speaker 9: over and over again.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Hey, it worked, It worked pretty well for you. How
- 49:07Speaker 1: did how did you like it at the time? Were
- 49:09Speaker 1: you okay with it?
- 49:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 49:12Speaker 9: No, I didn't mind it. I didn't I don't care.
- 49:14Speaker 9: I just as long as they were playing the song exactly.
- 49:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:20Speaker 1: So you're you're you're in a time where, I mean,
- 49:24Speaker 1: we have jingle Bell Rock and Run Run Rudolph and
- 49:27Speaker 1: Christmas Baby Please Come Home and rock around the Christmas tree.
- 49:32Speaker 1: How I'm assuming you grew up with those songs when
- 49:35Speaker 1: you were playing music?
- 49:38Speaker 9: How was I? How was I what?
- 49:40Speaker 1: You grew up with those Christmas classic rock and roll
- 49:43Speaker 1: songs when you were playing didn't you?
- 49:47Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 49:49Speaker 1: How much did they inspire you?
- 49:52Speaker 9: Oh? What did what inspire me to do? The new song?
- 49:55Speaker 9: You mean?
- 49:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and how did how did some of the songs
- 49:57Speaker 1: that that we've heard in the past that people know
- 50:00Speaker 1: inspire this this latest version.
- 50:04Speaker 9: Well what happened was if you listen to all those songs,
- 50:08Speaker 9: and they're all great Christmas songs. Everyone you just mentioned,
- 50:11Speaker 9: even Police Nabi does all of them. They're all they're
- 50:15Speaker 9: all really great songs. And there's no question about a
- 50:18Speaker 9: white Christmas, but no one, no song And if you
- 50:23Speaker 9: listen to just no song of Christmas was ever written
- 50:28Speaker 9: about fanness, what he wears, about his clothes or anything.
- 50:33Speaker 9: But that's what inspired me to write something different from
- 50:37Speaker 9: all those other songs. So I hope I fit in
- 50:40Speaker 9: with all those songs because it's it's different from all
- 50:43Speaker 9: of them. And you know, like I said, they maybe
- 50:47Speaker 9: this is the one that that it's gonna fit. And
- 50:51Speaker 9: he played, uh played next Christmas and the Christmas after that.
- 50:54Speaker 1: You know what it sounds like, and I really like it.
- 50:57Speaker 1: How did you get the inspiration for the song?
- 51:01Speaker 9: Uh? Well, you know, I lost my wife. She she's
- 51:04Speaker 9: my angel. I lost her last year, but she watched
- 51:08Speaker 9: it over me and I think she's she's really helped
- 51:11Speaker 9: me with that. But I had a friend in New
- 51:13Speaker 9: York City who said to me, Freddie, why don't you
- 51:16Speaker 9: write a Christmas song? I had. I had a melody,
- 51:20Speaker 9: but I had no lyrics. And that and that talking
- 51:24Speaker 9: about where something Santa Claus with is either his hat,
- 51:29Speaker 9: his coat, uh, you know, his boots or whatever. No
- 51:32Speaker 9: one ever did that. So I decided to put down
- 51:37Speaker 9: his coat and different. But he's gonna wears a red coat.
- 51:41Speaker 9: See if we can rite some but and that that's
- 51:43Speaker 9: what started me to do this song. And you know,
- 51:48Speaker 9: now you.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Got it, Now you got it. Do you remember the
- 51:51Speaker 1: first time you got called to be on American bandstand?
- 51:57Speaker 16: Uh?
- 51:57Speaker 9: Yes I do. I was is still in Massachusetts, living
- 52:02Speaker 9: in Massachusetts then uh and what happened was Swamp Records
- 52:07Speaker 9: to be laguele I was on called and said, pretty tallahassee,
- 52:12Speaker 9: Lassie is starting to make a lot of noise. If
- 52:16Speaker 9: we we booked you on a band on American Bandstand. Well,
- 52:20Speaker 9: I got really nervous and skin in nineteen fifty nine,
- 52:25Speaker 9: so I went to picked They picked me up at
- 52:27Speaker 9: the Philadelphia airport, drove me over to uh Over to
- 52:31Speaker 9: a dance stand you know where where it was, and
- 52:36Speaker 9: I saw Dick Clark off stage and then he said,
- 52:40Speaker 9: now you stand behind this currentin well, I'll tell you
- 52:43Speaker 9: my pose and my shoes were cruled up. I was
- 52:46Speaker 9: so nervous. I didn't know what I was gonna do.
- 52:49Speaker 9: I didn't know what to think, you know, And I
- 52:53Speaker 9: opened the current and I had a lip think tallamhassee
- 52:56Speaker 9: Lassie that the kids in the in the bleaches they
- 52:58Speaker 9: were sitting there clapping and sharing and laughing and having fun.
- 53:04Speaker 9: And uh me I and I was smiling and inevity.
- 53:08Speaker 9: But underneath that final I was I was. I was worried.
- 53:12Speaker 9: I hope they liked me. I said to myself, you know, yeah,
- 53:16Speaker 9: but it came off and you know now you now,
- 53:19Speaker 9: I'm I had a wonderful career.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I mean you you became kind of the unoficial house band.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Did I get this right? You appeared one hundred and
- 53:28Speaker 1: ten times with Dick Clark on American Bandstand.
- 53:33Speaker 9: You got exactly right, That's what it was.
- 53:35Speaker 4: Wow.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Wow.
- 53:38Speaker 1: So after the first one, did you know you were
- 53:42Speaker 1: going to get called back because of the reception or
- 53:44Speaker 1: were you surprised when you got the call to come
- 53:46Speaker 1: back a second time?
- 53:49Speaker 9: Uh no, I thought I thought that was going to
- 53:52Speaker 9: be just one time. I never thought that I would
- 53:55Speaker 9: go on and do that many. You know, I've got
- 53:58Speaker 9: to be honest about it, you know, to do that
- 54:01Speaker 9: many bandstands after that, you know, it just h and
- 54:05Speaker 9: I would say I would come on the show and
- 54:08Speaker 9: do Tallahassey lastly, maybe fifteen twenty times more Palisades Park
- 54:13Speaker 9: and probably another another twenty or thirty times. That's all
- 54:18Speaker 9: just added up, yeah, because they were just doing songs
- 54:20Speaker 9: over and over. So you know, Tick Clark was good
- 54:24Speaker 9: to me, like this shockey like yourself across this country.
- 54:30Speaker 9: If I didn't have all these radio people like yourself
- 54:35Speaker 9: playing Freddy Cannon, I don't think I would be around.
- 54:39Speaker 9: I don't think I would. But they all jumped on
- 54:43Speaker 9: and played and played my music, and you know, I'm
- 54:47Speaker 9: very grateful for that. You know I could if I
- 54:50Speaker 9: could thank everybody that ever played me in one room,
- 54:53Speaker 9: I would do it.
- 54:55Speaker 1: When did you know Palisades Park was such a big hit?
- 54:59Speaker 1: Do you remember the point when when you knew it
- 55:01Speaker 1: was it was a breakout?
- 55:04Speaker 9: Yeah, I didn't think it was a hit though, to
- 55:07Speaker 9: be honest with you, I didn't think it was a hit.
- 55:09Speaker 9: I thought the B side was the hit because I wrote.
