- 1:58Speaker 3: now you get the points. It is going to get

- 2:28Speaker 3: nine three five five zero zero eight. Let's go to
- 2:30Speaker 3: the newsroom to start us off, though, Jeff good Morning.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Testimony continued yesterday in the trial here in Kanawha County.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Yeah, So Genie K.
- 2:37Speaker 5: White Feathers back on the stand this morning, still getting
- 2:40Speaker 5: questions from her attorney, Mark Plantz, and she, of course
- 2:45Speaker 5: and her husband are charged in connecting with this child
- 2:48Speaker 5: abuse trafficking case allegedly mistreating their adopted kids, African American
- 2:55Speaker 5: kids who they adopted and lived with in several states.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Three of the kids testified during the state's presentation of
- 3:03Speaker 5: its case talking about how they were treated, and the
- 3:08Speaker 5: police got onto this back in October twenty twenty three
- 3:12Speaker 5: when they found two kids in a shed to teenage
- 3:15Speaker 5: kids in a shed. So Jennie Whitefeather, one of the charges,
- 3:19Speaker 5: took the stand yesterday in her own defense and answering
- 3:22Speaker 5: a series of questions from Mark Plants that says she
- 3:26Speaker 5: never locked the kids in a shed. They had a
- 3:28Speaker 5: key to get out. She never locked the kids in
- 3:30Speaker 5: the schoolroom. So she denied basically all the charges. Then
- 3:34Speaker 5: she went into the history about how they came to
- 3:38Speaker 5: link up with these children, how they came to adopt them,
- 3:41Speaker 5: the initial call she got about a younger sibling who
- 3:44Speaker 5: had been born, and then how they came to be
- 3:50Speaker 5: able to adopt all of those children. So she'll be
- 3:53Speaker 5: back on the witness stand today answering again questions from
- 3:57Speaker 5: her attorney, and then the prosecution we'll get a chance
- 4:00Speaker 5: to question her, and that will likely come later today,
- 4:03Speaker 5: maybe after the lunch breaker before for cross examination, and
- 4:07Speaker 5: then there'll be several more witnesses for the defense's case,
- 4:10Speaker 5: and at some point, probably still a couple of days,
- 4:13Speaker 5: the jury will get this case.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Okay. We'll be listening and following online and we've got
- 4:18Speaker 3: reporters in the courtroom. Jeff I appreciate you being here.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Thanks a long Okay, see you all right. The Dave

- 4:45Speaker 3: later on in the show, We're going to talk to
- 4:47Speaker 3: the new circuit judge here in Kanawha County. Rich Lindsay
- 4:49Speaker 3: will be stopping by the studio. Plus, there's a lot
- 4:51Speaker 3: of text from the show yesterday that I didn't get to.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna try to get to those a little bit
- 4:56Speaker 3: later on as well. Let me bring in now Rob
- 4:57Speaker 3: Reel from a sister station ninety six to one K
- 5:00Speaker 3: talk about tomorrow second annual WVRC Media Charleston Sock Drop
- 5:04Speaker 3: for Union mission. It's on our lot starting at seven
- 5:07Speaker 3: tomorrow morning, lasting until six tomorrow evening eleven eleven Virginia
- 5:10Speaker 3: Street East here in Charleston, sponsored by Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration.
- 5:14Speaker 6: We're ready to go, rob We're as ready as we get.
- 5:18Speaker 6: At least mother nature is going to cooperate a little bit.
- 5:20Speaker 6: We'll warm up a little bit some tomorrow, although it's
- 5:24Speaker 6: going to be a cold start twelve overnight. So out
- 5:26Speaker 6: on that elliptical lot here at eleven eleven Virginia Street East.
- 5:31Speaker 6: If you are if you are not a GPS plug
- 5:33Speaker 6: or inner, you're not particularly familiar with downtown Charleston, we're
- 5:37Speaker 6: really easy to find.
- 5:38Speaker 3: If you're coming in from the west.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Just take that Virginia Street exit off of sixty four
- 5:44Speaker 6: and be looking for us on the right after you
- 5:46Speaker 6: pass the south Side Bridge. If you're coming from maybe
- 5:48Speaker 6: the northeast or the southeast, and the Leon Sullivan exit will.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Take care of you. Take it right to Virginia Street.
- 5:54Speaker 3: You'll take a left. That's the only way you can
- 5:55Speaker 3: turn legally. It is a one way street.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Is Virginia Well, not a week goes by in downtown
- 6:02Speaker 6: Charleston that I don't see someone going the wrong way
- 6:04Speaker 6: on a one way street. Having said that, you know,
- 6:07Speaker 6: turn the turn left on Virginia street, or right on
- 6:10Speaker 6: your right you'll see all the big vehicles. I don't
- 6:12Speaker 6: think we'll have the giant inflatable turkey out this time. Now,
- 6:15Speaker 6: the inflatable turkey because of the temperatures are smaller than
- 6:19Speaker 6: it used to be. Well, you have significant shrinkage in
- 6:22Speaker 6: this type of weather. We're again having issues in our
- 6:28Speaker 6: centuries old building with the heating and cooling the duct
- 6:32Speaker 6: work here in the studio portion. So I am again
- 6:35Speaker 6: freezing my feet off and just thinking about that while
- 6:38Speaker 6: I'm doing work in a knife safe, comfortable otherwise studio.
- 6:43Speaker 6: I would not want to be somebody who is in
- 6:45Speaker 6: need of socks in this kind of weather.
- 6:49Speaker 3: So that's the driving force for this.
- 6:52Speaker 6: There are big policy economic things that need to happen,
- 6:55Speaker 6: and the people who handle that can handle that under
- 6:58Speaker 6: that big golden dome about a mile down the street.
- 7:01Speaker 6: That's that's not what we're about tomorrow. We are about
- 7:04Speaker 6: just grassroots, ground level literally with socks helping our friends
- 7:08Speaker 6: and neighbors. And you can get the socks at a
- 7:10Speaker 6: variety of locations. I mean, choose your favorite department store,
- 7:14Speaker 6: dollar store or whatever. They're not very expensive. And again,
- 7:17Speaker 6: and I heard your interview that you did with the
- 7:19Speaker 6: Weekly in coup On Hotline yesterday.
- 7:21Speaker 3: This story. Yes, I had a little fun about at
- 7:23Speaker 3: my expense there, that's I don't think it. Well, I
- 7:25Speaker 3: don't think it was at your expense now. No, the
- 7:26Speaker 3: story is and I've told the story the last time.
- 7:28Speaker 3: But one of the times you were on the show
- 7:30Speaker 3: is is you know people that know me know I
- 7:32Speaker 3: and you know two things about me. Number one, well,
- 7:35Speaker 3: number well, there's only one, and that I am the
- 7:37Speaker 3: biggest Dallas Cowboy fan in the world, have been since
- 7:40Speaker 3: I was seven years old. My sister in law, who
- 7:42Speaker 3: I loved dearly, for some reason, thought I would enjoy
- 7:45Speaker 3: a pair of Carolina Panthers socks. So for Christmas she
- 7:50Speaker 3: mailed me a pair of Carolina Panthers socks. That was
- 7:54Speaker 3: the first donation to the second and wv RC media
- 7:59Speaker 3: sock was the Carolina Panther socks. But you can get
- 8:03Speaker 3: packs of socks. I mean all the dollar stores have them.
- 8:05Speaker 3: They're not that expensive. And somebody had thrown out here
- 8:07Speaker 3: once before that the folks at eight is the outlet
- 8:10Speaker 3: good advertiser of ours. I think that they also had
- 8:13Speaker 3: some that were affordably priced. There you're you know, there
- 8:16Speaker 3: were some heated ones in there. If you pick the
- 8:18Speaker 3: right place, you can get like a dozen socks for
- 8:19Speaker 3: ten bucks. And we don't get if you can bring
- 8:22Speaker 3: us an entire bag full, or if you can bring
- 8:25Speaker 3: us one. Yeah, and they have to be new.
- 8:28Speaker 7: Uh.
- 8:28Speaker 3: And that's a that's a health department thing. You explain that.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I heard you talking about that.
- 8:32Speaker 6: If you, as an individual donate socks to uh, to
- 8:37Speaker 6: a shelter, to a place like that, you can you
- 8:39Speaker 6: can do used things. But because we are a third
- 8:43Speaker 6: party involved in this, this is a third party situation.
- 8:46Speaker 6: Health department work requires new socks.
- 8:48Speaker 3: That's just the way it is. We don't do our
- 8:50Speaker 3: own laundry here, we can't do yours.
- 8:52Speaker 6: And you know, rather than rather than shake my fist
- 8:55Speaker 6: and shout at the sky for it snowing, I'm just
- 8:57Speaker 6: grabbing a shovel, is all I'm doing. So I'm not
- 8:59Speaker 6: gonna I'm not going to fight the new socks thing.
- 9:01Speaker 6: That's just what I keep encouraging folks to do. And yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 6: you'd be a may Some of the places you can
- 9:06Speaker 6: go you can for ten bucks. So really the price
- 9:10Speaker 6: of one of the big or two of the smaller
- 9:13Speaker 6: of the high falutin frough through sweet coffee slash milkshake
- 9:17Speaker 6: sort of drinks. If you can forego that for a day,
- 9:20Speaker 6: you'd be helping out with a dozen pairs of socks.
- 9:23Speaker 6: So I'm just throw a little math out there and
- 9:25Speaker 6: we make it really easy for.
- 9:27Speaker 3: You because we'll be out on the lot seven am
- 9:29Speaker 3: till six pm to mar And this is something that
- 9:31Speaker 3: all of our stations are involved in, so you're going
- 9:33Speaker 3: to see, of course, KWS, this is kind of your baby.
- 9:35Speaker 3: But Mountain will be there, V one hundred, Steve Jenny
- 9:38Speaker 3: Logan will be there. Those of us that are out
- 9:40Speaker 3: here on CHS will be there, The Beat will be there,
- 9:44Speaker 3: all of the stations that are in our building, Kaz,
- 9:46Speaker 3: We're all going to be out there at one point
- 9:48Speaker 3: or another. We'll bring in the sales weasels make them
- 9:50Speaker 3: go out there for a little while too.
- 9:52Speaker 6: So one of the things I love about this company
- 9:54Speaker 6: and I love about West Virginia is the way we
- 9:56Speaker 6: help our friends and neighbors, the way we pull together.
- 9:58Speaker 6: It's one of the reasons I wanted to come back
- 10:00Speaker 6: two years ago, and it's one of the reasons I
- 10:02Speaker 6: am grateful to be in the position I'm in with
- 10:04Speaker 6: a big mouth and a big microphone, just to help folks.
- 10:07Speaker 6: And tomorrow we'll spend a little bit of time on
- 10:10Speaker 6: the show talking about tomorrow bring in some other folks,
- 10:12Speaker 6: because I don't know, I don't know exactly what the
- 10:14Speaker 6: schedule is going to look like out there, but throughout
- 10:16Speaker 6: the day there will be someone out there. So on
- 10:19Speaker 6: your lunch break tomorrow you can literally just pull into
- 10:21Speaker 6: the lot that's not oval.
- 10:23Speaker 3: You tell me that you can pull into the lot
- 10:27Speaker 3: it's and we'll be out there and you just drive in,
- 10:30Speaker 3: you hand them to us and be on your merry way.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Don't even have to get out of your nice warmth.
- 10:35Speaker 3: All right, here's a text that says the heated socks
- 10:37Speaker 3: that a to z are on shelves near the registers. Thanks.
- 10:40Speaker 3: So there, there you go. And I think that may
- 10:42Speaker 3: be the same person that texted me that before. So
- 10:44Speaker 3: there you go if you go to aight Z out
- 10:46Speaker 3: And again, they're a fine advertiser of ours. We don't
- 10:48Speaker 3: care where they come from, but if you can get
- 10:50Speaker 3: them from one of our advertisers, that's always great too.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Aight is the outlet is located on sixty There in Jefferson.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It's really easy to find. So that would be a
- 10:58Speaker 3: great place to go to get some.
- 10:59Speaker 6: And a pair right by the register if you're doing
- 11:01Speaker 6: the quick in and out. Although if you've got the time,
- 11:03Speaker 6: you want to browse at.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Eight it is up.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah, because they got all kinds of they got all
- 11:06Speaker 3: kinds of good stuff, all right. So again it's tomorrow
- 11:09Speaker 3: and a big shout out to the folks a Panhandle
- 11:10Speaker 3: Cleaning and Restoration, because no matter what hair brained idea
- 11:13Speaker 3: you come up with, they're always there to help you.
- 11:17Speaker 3: When you walked from from Charleston to Morgantown back in
- 11:20Speaker 3: the fall, they were the first one they said, hey,
- 11:22Speaker 3: we're on board. They said that they're on board with
- 11:24Speaker 3: this as well.
- 11:25Speaker 6: Bob and Martin have done a great job of saving
- 11:28Speaker 6: saving me from myself multiple times. And you know, if
- 11:31Speaker 6: you have disaster strike your home, fire, burst pipes, they
- 11:35Speaker 6: can save you too. So thank you Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration.
- 11:37Speaker 3: All right, and I'll have you or somebody back in
- 11:39Speaker 3: tomorrow because we're going to be out there all day tomorrow.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Folks are going to be clamoring to come in here
- 11:43Speaker 3: and warry normally, you know, It's like I try to
- 11:46Speaker 3: get people to come on the show and they're like, well,
- 11:48Speaker 3: I don't know if no tomorrow, No, I got to
- 11:50Speaker 3: go do Dave Show. I got I gotta be inside
- 11:51Speaker 3: the building. They'll be They'll be beating the tar out
- 11:53Speaker 3: of each other just to get in here. Right. I think,
- 11:56Speaker 3: here's what I think, because whenever we do these live
- 11:58Speaker 3: events like this, what it's summertime or whatever, it's always
- 12:02Speaker 3: you know, us guys, it's always us guys and gals
- 12:04Speaker 3: of the air staff that are outside. I think early
- 12:07Speaker 3: morning we put the sales weasels out there. That's what
- 12:10Speaker 3: I think. That would be a great time for the
- 12:11Speaker 3: sales weasels to see what we go through on our
- 12:13Speaker 3: regular babs. Can we burn them for warmth? No, that's
- 12:16Speaker 3: too far. Yeah, that's too back. A couple of them
- 12:18Speaker 3: would burn like a tire fire. But enough about Ron.
- 12:21Speaker 3: All right, Rob, I appreciate you being here, man, Hats
- 12:25Speaker 3: off to you for doing a great job, because again,
- 12:27Speaker 3: this is not something that we're making money on. This
- 12:30Speaker 3: is something that we just want to do to give
- 12:31Speaker 3: back to the community. This is this is as far
- 12:33Speaker 3: as I'm concerned, this is why radio exists. To help
- 12:35Speaker 3: our friends and neighbors. So I thought it was just
- 12:37Speaker 3: for the free T shirts extra extra large baby what
- 12:40Speaker 3: we got rob Real from a sister station ninety six
- 12:43Speaker 3: one Superstar Country KWS. Robb, I appreciate you man. We'll

- 16:35Speaker 3: Knawah County has a new circuit judge. He was sworn
- 16:37Speaker 3: in last week. He is Richard Lindsay and he joins
- 16:40Speaker 3: us now judge, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 16:41Speaker 7: Good morning, buddy, how you doing.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I'm going I'm one disappointed that you didn't wear the
- 16:44Speaker 3: robe in this morning. Is that just a courtroom thing? After?
- 16:47Speaker 7: That's just a courtroom thing?
- 16:48Speaker 3: Are there rules around the robe? Did they give you
- 16:51Speaker 3: a I know, as an attorney, you've been in a
- 16:53Speaker 3: lot of court rooms. Did they give you a manual
- 16:56Speaker 3: protocol for the robe?
- 16:58Speaker 7: No, there is no protocol, to be honest with you,
- 17:00Speaker 7: all though, they only give you one robe, so you
- 17:03Speaker 7: gotta be careful with it, you know, and I.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Know you're a foodie. That could be a problem. Probably
- 17:07Speaker 3: you probably better not wear that over to over to
- 17:10Speaker 3: the smokeout.
- 17:11Speaker 7: Now, hot wing sauce and robes don't match.
- 17:13Speaker 3: So I could just because I'm friends with you, I
- 17:16Speaker 3: could just see you on day one, you know, showing
- 17:18Speaker 3: up with with hot wing sauce on on your road.
- 17:21Speaker 3: But hopefully, hopefully, well I'm having for those that don't know,
- 17:24Speaker 3: and you've been on the show, you've been a regular,
- 17:26Speaker 3: of course, you're a former state senator and I've had
- 17:28Speaker 3: you on the show from time to time for various things.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Tell us the Rich Lindsay story, though I mean, uh,
- 17:34Speaker 3: just give us your look, give us your bio.
- 17:35Speaker 7: Well, you know, I was born here in Charleston. I
- 17:38Speaker 7: grew up on the West side. I live on the
- 17:40Speaker 7: east and now with my wife, I've went to school
- 17:43Speaker 7: here before I went away to school, and West Virginia
- 17:48Speaker 7: has always been my home. The only time I ever
- 17:51Speaker 7: was out of Charleston was when we lived in the
- 17:53Speaker 7: Eastern Panhandle for a short period of time. I went
- 17:56Speaker 7: to college down at Wingate University in North Carolina, a
- 17:59Speaker 7: great school. And after that I came back here and
- 18:05Speaker 7: worked at a place called West Virginia's Helping which was
- 18:08Speaker 7: a nonprofit where we tried to assist teachers with third
- 18:11Speaker 7: grade students that's the first grade I think, where they
- 18:13Speaker 7: had standardized testing. I did that for a year, and
- 18:16Speaker 7: then I went to DC worked for Center Rockefeller. Then
- 18:19Speaker 7: I went to law school at Appalachian School of Law,
- 18:22Speaker 7: which is in Grundy, Virginia, not too far away from
- 18:24Speaker 7: the border of Mingo County. And now I'm here or not.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Now I'm here.
- 18:29Speaker 7: And then I came back in two thousand and eight
- 18:31Speaker 7: practice law with my father and mother did that for
- 18:35Speaker 7: sixteen or seventeen years, and you know, enjoyed that, but
- 18:39Speaker 7: looking forward to this opportunity and being judged, was this.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Something that you always wanted to do, was eventually to
- 18:45Speaker 3: be a judge? I mean, I know, you know you
- 18:46Speaker 3: were an attorney and shorting the legislature as well, But
- 18:48Speaker 3: was it in the back of your mind judged something
- 18:51Speaker 3: that you thought and one day I'd like to be
- 18:53Speaker 3: a judge, you know what.
- 18:54Speaker 7: It's one of these things where I did not when
- 18:57Speaker 7: I was a kid. I didn't even think about being
- 18:59Speaker 7: a judge course, and I didn't really think about it
- 19:01Speaker 7: until after I served in the legislature and got to
- 19:03Speaker 7: see how the laws we pass affected abuse neglect cases
- 19:09Speaker 7: foster care. Obviously saw in the four years I was
- 19:13Speaker 7: there just some real failures in the system and some
- 19:17Speaker 7: things that needed to be changed. And I also realized
- 19:19Speaker 7: how important the role of is the role of judge
- 19:22Speaker 7: is in those situations, and how a judge has a
- 19:25Speaker 7: lot of power to bring professionals in and try to
- 19:29Speaker 7: reunify a family where possible, and if not, find the
- 19:32Speaker 7: next best alternative. And I thought, after my Senate career,
- 19:36Speaker 7: where can I best serve And this opportunity came with
- 19:40Speaker 7: the creation of an eighth seat here in the in
- 19:42Speaker 7: the Circuit Court of Canal County.
- 19:43Speaker 3: I want to talk about this. Why why is it
- 19:45Speaker 3: that a new judge. Ship knew a new judge was
- 19:49Speaker 3: needed for the area.
- 19:50Speaker 7: That there was a study conducted across the state to
- 19:53Speaker 7: see what the workload was of judges, And the results
- 19:58Speaker 7: of that study with regard to Kanawh County was that
- 20:02Speaker 7: an additional judge need. It was needed because of the
- 20:05Speaker 7: number of abuse and neglect cases that have taken over dockets.
- 20:09Speaker 7: I mean, I can tell you I've started practicing in
- 20:11Speaker 7: two thousand and eight. There were abuse of neglect cases then.
- 20:15Speaker 7: But I could see, just in my observation of being
- 20:18Speaker 7: an outsider, how much that those number of cases grew
- 20:21Speaker 7: over time. And you can talk to any judge across
- 20:24Speaker 7: the state of West Virginia and they will tell you
- 20:26Speaker 7: that that takes most of their time, takes most of
- 20:29Speaker 7: the court's time those types of cases.
- 20:31Speaker 3: So, and I think, if I'll jump in here, I
- 20:34Speaker 3: think that sometimes when we think of the judges, we
- 20:38Speaker 3: think that you're only that you are always doing these
- 20:40Speaker 3: high profile they've watched way too much, you know, Law
- 20:44Speaker 3: and Order or whatever. They think that it's always the
- 20:46Speaker 3: and all cases are important, don't get me wrong, but
- 20:48Speaker 3: they're not all of the high profile like We've got
- 20:50Speaker 3: a major one going on in Judge Acre's courtroom right
- 20:52Speaker 3: now here in Kanawha County that Jeff talked about at
- 20:55Speaker 3: the top of the show. But they're not all cases
- 20:58Speaker 3: like that. The majority already, from what you and other
- 21:01Speaker 3: judges have told me, are those cases that you just mentioned.
- 21:04Speaker 7: Those types of cases, and you know, just I'll tell
- 21:07Speaker 7: you so far, I've had a handful of bond reductions
- 21:09Speaker 7: and a handful of marriage ceremonies and a couple of
- 21:12Speaker 7: name changes. That's been my docket so far. Most of
- 21:17Speaker 7: the cases that are filed or small creditor cases, and
- 21:20Speaker 7: then of course the JA cases. And I'd say, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 7: I've never given too much thought until at this moment,
- 21:26Speaker 7: but I'd say JAY cases are probably ten fifteen percent
- 21:29Speaker 7: so far of my doctor JA those are the abuse neglects.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Okay, I'm sorry, okay, okay, And that's just starting out right.
- 21:38Speaker 3: So how are when you have different judges like we
- 21:41Speaker 3: do here in Canawac County. How has it decided? Who
- 21:45Speaker 3: gets what? Is it like a rotation base or I mean,
- 21:47Speaker 3: how does it? Okay, this goes to Judge Lendsay, this
- 21:49Speaker 3: goes to Judge Acres, just goes Judge Bailey. How does
- 21:51Speaker 3: that work?
- 21:51Speaker 7: It is a rotation base. It's just a random, you know,
- 21:55Speaker 7: rotation that the clerk's office is set up. And that's
- 21:59Speaker 7: just how the cases are done. That's all I can
- 22:01Speaker 7: really tell you. You probably have to get get Kathy
- 22:03Speaker 7: Gatson in here to tell you how it really gets done.
- 22:06Speaker 7: But as I understand it, it's a random rotation.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And they just say, Okay the judge Lindsey, this is
- 22:12Speaker 3: what your case.
- 22:13Speaker 7: Is going to be when your number comes up. Your
- 22:15Speaker 7: number comes up.
- 22:16Speaker 3: So in more wasys than one?
- 22:18Speaker 2: Yes?
- 22:18Speaker 9: Yes?
- 22:19Speaker 3: Talking to the new circuit judge here in Kanaan County.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Rich Lindsay with Dave Valid show on five eighty Live

- 22:42Speaker 3: out the latest episodes wv metronews dot com the podcast
- 22:46Speaker 3: menu and start your journey towards better health. Today. I
- 22:49Speaker 3: alluded to the case that we have going on here
- 22:51Speaker 3: in Kanaan County. There's actually two major cases going on
- 22:54Speaker 3: in the state of West Virginia. The White Feather and
- 22:57Speaker 3: Lance case which is in front of Judge Acres testimonies
- 23:01Speaker 3: going on right now. Jeff Jenkins and I talked about
- 23:03Speaker 3: it at the top of the show, and they have
- 23:04Speaker 3: the Cochrane case over in Rileigh County. Those are two
- 23:07Speaker 3: that are really kind of big in the media right now.
- 23:11Speaker 3: How And I know you're fresh on the job, but
- 23:14Speaker 3: when you know you're getting one of these high profile
- 23:18Speaker 3: and in many cases horrific cases, especially with what we're
- 23:21Speaker 3: seeing now in Judge Acres's court room here in Kanah
- 23:24Speaker 3: County and these horrific details, how does one prepare themselves
- 23:29Speaker 3: for what they are going to hear in these situations?
- 23:34Speaker 7: Well, I don't know how to prepare for what will
- 23:37Speaker 7: be said. I do know, and I think Judge Acres
- 23:40Speaker 7: does a great job of this, and it's something that
- 23:42Speaker 7: you know by the way that the judges here in
- 23:45Speaker 7: Kanaw County are wonderful and they've mentored me and answered
- 23:48Speaker 7: every question I've ever had. But generally speaking, I think
- 23:52Speaker 7: as judge, when you have a big case, the first
- 23:54Speaker 7: two things that you think about is the comfort and
- 23:57Speaker 7: safety of the jury and the comfort and safety of
- 24:01Speaker 7: the litigans and witnesses, and those are the things so
- 24:04Speaker 7: you you know, obviously communicating with your bailiff, making sure
- 24:08Speaker 7: that you know everyone is where they should be and
- 24:11Speaker 7: that no one is acting out or causing any trouble,
- 24:15Speaker 7: and making the process. The judge plays an important role
- 24:18Speaker 7: in making the process as comfortable and easy and efficient
- 24:23Speaker 7: as possible, because you know, the jury's taking time out
- 24:26Speaker 7: of their day, they're they're they are fulfilling their civic
- 24:29Speaker 7: duty to be there, and you need to make sure
- 24:32Speaker 7: that they're as happy as they can be and in
- 24:36Speaker 7: performing that duty and weighing in and casting judgment on
- 24:41Speaker 7: the case, and so you know, someone who's brand new,
- 24:44Speaker 7: those are the first two things that I think would
- 24:46Speaker 7: come to mind to any judge taking again making sure
- 24:49Speaker 7: the jury is comfort comfortable and safety and again with
- 24:53Speaker 7: the lid agains as well the witnesses. And because I
- 24:55Speaker 7: think in Judge Acres's case there are a couple minor
- 24:59Speaker 7: children witness that have taken.
- 25:00Speaker 3: This stay in.
- 25:01Speaker 7: Yeah, and so you just need to be really careful
- 25:03Speaker 7: with that.
- 25:03Speaker 3: It's a fine it's a fine dance you've got to
- 25:06Speaker 3: do there to be able. And even as members of
- 25:08Speaker 3: the media when cut, which you know, I leave that
- 25:11Speaker 3: to Jeff and Morgan and Cat and those and those folks,
- 25:14Speaker 3: but even when covering that, you've also got to be
- 25:17Speaker 3: very careful here at some of this. You know that
- 25:20Speaker 3: these are miners that we're talking about in many in
- 25:21Speaker 3: many cases not just this one.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Yes, and as from what I've read from the reporting
- 25:25Speaker 7: in the paper and then I popped over there yesterday
- 25:27Speaker 7: for about an hour. I mean, Judge Acres is great,
- 25:30Speaker 7: You're doing wonderful in that respect.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So I think it's interesting that you mentioned the mentorship
- 25:34Speaker 3: that goes on with the judges as well, Judge, because
- 25:37Speaker 3: again you're going in with some experience members of the
- 25:41Speaker 3: bench here and you and you can learn from them.
- 25:43Speaker 7: No, absolutely, I mean judge, so so keep your mouth
- 25:46Speaker 7: shut and learn exactly, exactly, and and and again. I
- 25:50Speaker 7: just think the the Kanawha County bench is wonderful. But
- 25:52Speaker 7: across the state, I mean, I can't tell you. We
- 25:54Speaker 7: we went to some type of a baby judge school
- 25:57Speaker 7: a couple of months ago, and they try to get
- 26:00Speaker 7: you the judges school. Yeah, but I call it baby
- 26:04Speaker 7: just because we're all new, right.
- 26:05Speaker 10: So, but.
- 26:07Speaker 7: They do their best in covering a lot of ground.
- 26:10Speaker 7: There's a ton of ground, even if you've been practicing
- 26:13Speaker 7: law for twenty years, the stuff that you just don't know.
- 26:16Speaker 7: And I can tell you that they do a good
- 26:18Speaker 7: job with that. But they also say, hey, here's my
- 26:20Speaker 7: phone number. Give me a call. If you ever run
- 26:22Speaker 7: in anything, give me a coll you. If you run
- 26:24Speaker 7: into something on the bench that you're unsure of, take
- 26:26Speaker 7: a minute, go off the stand and give me a
- 26:28Speaker 7: coll you got a question about it? And I mean,
- 26:31Speaker 7: we are just lucky as a state, I think, to
- 26:33Speaker 7: have the circuit court judges we have, especially here in
- 26:35Speaker 7: Kanall County.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Talking again to a new circuit judge here in Kanah County,
- 26:39Speaker 3: Rich Lindsay with Dave Allen showing five eighty Live brought

- 26:58Speaker 3: and the Judge is a proud graduate of heart Grave
- 27:00Speaker 3: Military Academy.
- 27:01Speaker 7: That is correct. I went to military school my junior
- 27:06Speaker 7: and senior year. You know, I enjoyed it. I actually
- 27:11Speaker 7: thought of, you know, to go off. Here's a little
- 27:13Speaker 7: bit more information. I thought of a career in the military,
- 27:16Speaker 7: for what it's worth. I was going to go. My
- 27:18Speaker 7: government teacher, who was a good guy, but a stickler,
- 27:23Speaker 7: suggested that I go to the Citadel. I went ahead
- 27:25Speaker 7: and applaud got in and I tore my acl playing
- 27:31Speaker 7: lacrosse that spring, and so I couldn't. For those who
- 27:34Speaker 7: don't know, at the Citadel on any military academy, that
- 27:36Speaker 7: first year is pretty tough physically. There's a lot of
- 27:39Speaker 7: stuff that you have to be able to do, and
- 27:41Speaker 7: I figured I wouldn't be able to do that. So
- 27:43Speaker 7: I thought, well, I'll end up. I'll go to wing
- 27:45Speaker 7: Gate for a semester, maybe a year, and then transfer.
- 27:48Speaker 7: But I met my wife there and so I decided
- 27:50Speaker 7: to stay at wing Gate. So a history that a
- 27:53Speaker 7: future that never was but could have been.
- 27:54Speaker 3: I guess learning more and more about you every day.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I was at the courthouse last week for your ceremony.
- 28:01Speaker 3: You had quite the lineup there, packed court room, you know,
- 28:04Speaker 3: to to to show their you know, their congratulations to you.
- 28:08Speaker 3: But he had Charlie Trump there, you had several others.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Your pastor was a wonderful speaker who spoke there for it.
- 28:14Speaker 3: It's kind of cool. People must like you for some reason.
- 28:16Speaker 7: Yeah, it's amazing. You know, maybe maybe you should take
- 28:19Speaker 7: take a lesson in that right now, I'm joking, No,
- 28:21Speaker 7: I mean, listen, I could I could spend all show
- 28:23Speaker 7: talking about Charlie Trump, former Senator Trump, now Justice Trump.
- 28:27Speaker 7: You know, we were we didn't always agree on things,
- 28:30Speaker 7: uh while I was in the State Senate, but I
- 28:32Speaker 7: he let everyone have the opportunity to speak, make amendments.
- 28:37Speaker 7: He was fair, He's always been fair and and patient.
- 28:43Speaker 7: But as far as Pastor done, now, I am a
- 28:46Speaker 7: parishioner at Sacred Heart, so but I like to go
- 28:50Speaker 7: to Pastor done Over at First Baptist. And I you know,
- 28:53Speaker 7: the reason why I called on him to do this
- 28:55Speaker 7: for me was because every service, and I can't say
- 28:59Speaker 7: this about every church, okay, but every service I've ever
- 29:02Speaker 7: attended and going to see Pastor Donne at First Baptist
- 29:05Speaker 7: on Shrewsbury, I walk away feeling like a million bucks.
- 29:08Speaker 7: And I think that everyone has that experience in his congregation.
- 29:13Speaker 7: And you know, if you get anything out of church,
- 29:16Speaker 7: I think or attending service, that should be the feeling
- 29:18Speaker 7: you get.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, Well he was entertaining, to say the least.
- 29:24Speaker 7: That's another reason why I wanted to before.
- 29:26Speaker 3: We before we close, what do you want people to
- 29:29Speaker 3: know about rich Lindsay when they come to your courtroom?
- 29:32Speaker 7: Well, I think that that what you should know about
- 29:36Speaker 7: rich Lindsay before you come, or what to expect is
- 29:39Speaker 7: you'll have your your opportunity to speak out and have
- 29:41Speaker 7: your case heard, whatever the matter is. Be prepared to
- 29:45Speaker 7: answer questions. You know, It's one of those things I
- 29:49Speaker 7: think judges should be prepared to ask questions and to
- 29:52Speaker 7: get the parties to talk outside of their briefs or submissions,
- 29:57Speaker 7: and that I'll be fair. So those are the things
- 30:00Speaker 7: that people should expect or know about me.
- 30:02Speaker 3: And before I send you on your way here, I'm
- 30:04Speaker 3: going to give you the opportunity. It's like I do
- 30:06Speaker 3: when I have my candidates on, I say, I call
- 30:08Speaker 3: the final thirty. But now just give you an opportunity
- 30:12Speaker 3: to thank people. You better thank your wife, just throwing
- 30:16Speaker 3: that out there. Thanks, some just whatever you want to
- 30:18Speaker 3: say to close this out. Judge, well, sure, you.
- 30:20Speaker 7: Know, obviously thank my wife. You know, she, as I
- 30:23Speaker 7: mentioned on Friday, she's my rock. She's she's the opposite
- 30:26Speaker 7: of me. She doesn't like attention, she's very quiet, but
- 30:29Speaker 7: she's the one I go to whenever I need advice
- 30:32Speaker 7: or or or or want a second opinion. So I
- 30:34Speaker 7: appreciate that. I love her to death, My family, my kids,
- 30:39Speaker 7: and and then just you know, like I said on Friday,
- 30:41Speaker 7: there are so many people, a lot of whom attended
- 30:44Speaker 7: the investiture that did not know it at the time,
- 30:47Speaker 7: but gave me a word of encouragement, advice or support
- 30:51Speaker 7: that I really needed. And I appreciate that. You know,
- 30:54Speaker 7: we are lucky, Dave. I know you don't live in Charleston,
- 30:56Speaker 7: but you work in Charlson. To live and work in
- 30:59Speaker 7: a place that I think is just so very special.
- 31:01Speaker 7: It's always been to me, and I'm just happy to
- 31:03Speaker 7: live here in Charleston and the people that I've met know.
- 31:06Speaker 3: So all right, congratulations Judge Richard Lindsay, all right, Dave,
- 31:11Speaker 3: thank you man, appreciate you being here. Yes, sir Hope,

- 34:09Speaker 3: I'm going to leave this totally up to you. Let's
- 34:12Speaker 3: do this. I did not get to all of the
- 34:16Speaker 3: texts yesterday about Trump two point zero, and at this
- 34:21Speaker 3: point there isn't a person alive who doesn't have strong
- 34:24Speaker 3: opinions one way or the other about the new Trump administration.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Be at the executive orders, be at the pardons, whatever

- 34:50Speaker 3: I've got texts I didn't get to yesterday, so I'm
- 34:52Speaker 3: gonna get to those here momentarily. Anything you want to
- 34:55Speaker 3: talk about about the new Trump term, you are more
- 35:00Speaker 3: than welcome. There's some happy, there are some upset, there
- 35:04Speaker 3: are some that are quite fearful, and there are some
- 35:06Speaker 3: that thinks it's the greatest thing ever. So I'm going
- 35:08Speaker 3: to take a back seat and leave it up to you.
- 35:12Speaker 3: The time is yours, but if you could do if
- 35:15Speaker 3: I could ask one thing of people that are hardcore
- 35:19Speaker 3: Trump supporters. And I'm not saying those who necessarily voted
- 35:23Speaker 3: for Trump. I'm talking about for people that are hardcore
- 35:26Speaker 3: Donald Trump supporters, and I respect your opinion, could you
- 35:30Speaker 3: please stop referring to him as daddy. It is creepy
- 35:34Speaker 3: as hell. I'm just saying, it is incredibly creepy to
- 35:39Speaker 3: refer to Donald Trump or any other elected official as
- 35:44Speaker 3: daddy and saying daddy's home. It just is weird. So
- 35:49Speaker 3: just maybe not so much there temperatures around the state.
- 35:55Speaker 3: It's five degrees here in Charleston five degrees now on
- 35:59Speaker 3: Huntingson one degree and more in Town three in Beckley,
- 36:01Speaker 3: nine in Martinsburg one and Wheeling, one in Elkins, one
- 36:04Speaker 3: in Parkersburg, six in Lewisbourg. So yeah, you kind of
- 36:08Speaker 3: get the point. It's a little cold out there, and
- 36:09Speaker 3: there's a lot of people that were upset about the
- 36:12Speaker 3: school situation. I heard some coworkers talking about it this morning.
- 36:16Speaker 3: To have kids in Canawa County schools to my knowledge,
- 36:18Speaker 3: unless it changed, and it may have, I don't normally
- 36:22Speaker 3: I get alerts, you know, on my phone here, even
- 36:24Speaker 3: though I have kids, I get every news alert in
- 36:26Speaker 3: the world. That Knawa County, I think, was the only
- 36:29Speaker 3: school in the state that was having in person learning today.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Putnam County, originally where I live, was originally on a
- 36:35Speaker 3: two hour delay, but a hour hour two ago they
- 36:38Speaker 3: opted to go with schools being closed. Now some schools
- 36:40Speaker 3: are doing the remote learning thing and some are just
- 36:44Speaker 3: having a day off completely. But unless I am wrong
- 36:46Speaker 3: and somebody can correct me, I do believe Knawah County
- 36:49Speaker 3: was the only county in the state of West Virginia
- 36:52Speaker 3: that had in person, in person school today, and there's
- 36:55Speaker 3: some people not too happy about that. Sixteen minutes away
- 36:58Speaker 3: from ten to Dave Island showing five line brought to

- 37:10Speaker 3: Dirty Birds merchandise and more at Dirtybirds baseball dot com.
- 37:16Speaker 3: This text says some people have a problem with Daddy's home.
- 37:19Speaker 3: That's interesting. Did you have that same feeling with Biden's
- 37:22Speaker 3: munch and their mouthpieces and the Marxist media constantly trying
- 37:26Speaker 3: to convince the world that adults are back in charge.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Note when you have to repeatedly tout the well known
- 37:31Speaker 3: bs like that to people, you're not trying to convince them.
- 37:34Speaker 3: You are trying to convince yourself. This is just me
- 37:41Speaker 3: to the texture, and I appreciate the text. Saying the
- 37:44Speaker 3: adults are back in charge is not nearly as creepy
- 37:47Speaker 3: as saying Daddy's home. It just is freaking creepy. Okay,
- 37:51Speaker 3: it's it's as weird. So and for once, we live
- 37:56Speaker 3: in a world of what about ism? I mean, we
- 37:58Speaker 3: really really do. And it's on both sides. As soon
- 38:01Speaker 3: as we talk about something Trump did, well what about
- 38:03Speaker 3: what Biden did? And as soon as we talk about
- 38:05Speaker 3: what Biden, well, what about what Trump? That's we live
- 38:08Speaker 3: in a in a what about is in society? For sure.
- 38:11Speaker 3: That's kind of where we are. All right, let me
- 38:13Speaker 3: knock out some text here, and I got a bunch
- 38:15Speaker 3: Tex says, I'm sure it paines lives like you and
- 38:18Speaker 3: Hoppy Okay, Hoppy's retired. Now, I'm not a liberal that
- 38:21Speaker 3: President Trump is back in charge. I said on the
- 38:26Speaker 3: show yesterday. The people made their decision. I'm good with it.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I'm good with it. I voted for Donald Trump in
- 38:36Speaker 3: twenty sixteen and twenty twenty. I did not vote for
- 38:38Speaker 3: Donald Trump this time. I did not support a candidate
- 38:40Speaker 3: for president at this time. I couldn't in good conscience. However,
- 38:43Speaker 3: the majority of people did and they voted, and so
- 38:47Speaker 3: that's it. It's over. Donald Trump is the president and look,
- 38:50Speaker 3: and I'm fine with that, and I will, as I
- 38:52Speaker 3: said on the show yesterday, I will refer to Donald
- 38:54Speaker 3: Trump as President Trump, because that's what he is. I
- 38:57Speaker 3: just want what's best for the for the for the country, period.
- 39:03Speaker 3: That's what I want. Tex says, these people that are
- 39:07Speaker 3: applauding the Trump executive orders obviously don't have anyone other
- 39:11Speaker 3: than straight, lily white people in their families and their
- 39:14Speaker 3: circle of friends. It's sad, says a texture Uh. Tex said,
- 39:23Speaker 3: no one called Biden daddy. Y'all are weird. What's going
- 39:26Speaker 3: to happen with the growth in West Virginia from DC
- 39:29Speaker 3: workers working remotely who now have to go into the office.
- 39:32Speaker 3: I was having a conversation, uh with with one of
- 39:36Speaker 3: my co workers about that about this you know, Trump
- 39:38Speaker 3: is is wants to order all federal employees back in
- 39:42Speaker 3: the office. And I had one of my co workers
- 39:45Speaker 3: upstairs this morning as I was getting ready for the
- 39:47Speaker 3: show that asked me what I thought about that about
- 39:50Speaker 3: ordering federal workers back into the office and to use
- 39:54Speaker 3: the to use the relationship status people use on social media.
- 39:58Speaker 3: It's complicated. It's complicated because I have been I've never
- 40:03Speaker 3: been a federal worker. I was a state worker, but
- 40:05Speaker 3: I've never been a federal worker. Certain some people work
- 40:09Speaker 3: better from home. They they simply do they they work
- 40:12Speaker 3: better in that environment. Some people, uh, do not. And
- 40:18Speaker 3: one of the and I talk to people that hire
- 40:20Speaker 3: people a lot in in white collar type jobs, and
- 40:24Speaker 3: quite frankly, one of the first things that they ask
- 40:28Speaker 3: of their perspective employers is is there and is there
- 40:34Speaker 3: the ability to work from home? And if there's not
- 40:37Speaker 3: an ability to work from home, they don't want and
- 40:39Speaker 3: they don't want to work. And we have a lot
- 40:42Speaker 3: of jobs available in the federal government, I mean, we
- 40:45Speaker 3: really really do. And so uh, and I understand that
- 40:49Speaker 3: when people aren't in the office that the local businesses suffer.
- 40:53Speaker 3: People aren't you know, going to the coffee shop before
- 40:55Speaker 3: they're not going to the local maybe going out to
- 40:57Speaker 3: lunch and uh and plush.
- 40:58Speaker 13: You know.
- 40:59Speaker 3: I think even said Dr Shilly Moore, Capito is talked
- 41:01Speaker 3: about has talked about this about how we need to
- 41:05Speaker 3: get government people to work, federal workers. But anyway, I
- 41:07Speaker 3: kind of went off on a tangent there, But that's
- 41:09Speaker 3: that's kind of what I have a tendency to do.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Uh.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Sometimes, oh man, they are coming in quickly here Texas,
- 41:19Speaker 3: no matter what happens in the White House now is
- 41:22Speaker 3: a conservative Christian, it is nonsensical to me after the
- 41:25Speaker 3: release of the G six and the response is always, well,
- 41:30Speaker 3: what did Biden do with Portland and Minnesota? That is
- 41:33Speaker 3: up to those states. The capital is up to United
- 41:35Speaker 3: States government. And now that Trump's president, why didn't he
- 41:37Speaker 3: just go after the people of Portland and Minnesota? Now
- 41:40Speaker 3: the Statute of Limitations is up on them? Says A
- 41:44Speaker 3: text text says, uh, thank you for bringing up the
- 41:49Speaker 3: Daddy term. I saw a friend of mine post on
- 41:52Speaker 3: Sunday that only one more day till Daddy is back.
- 41:56Speaker 3: I just shook my head since a Texas see, I'm
- 41:58Speaker 3: not I'm not Tex says, so it's not about what
- 42:02Speaker 3: about ism, It's about the inconsistencies and outrage and accountability.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Big difference Trump says or A text says Trump is
- 42:12Speaker 3: a despicable human, devoid of any sense of morality or compassion.
- 42:16Speaker 3: His cult like followers have been brainwashed to view him
- 42:18Speaker 3: as their messiah, says a texture. Tex says, Maga is
- 42:25Speaker 3: a cult and they know it. Republicans have no honor
- 42:28Speaker 3: or integrity partying and releasing fifteen hundred violent criminals and
- 42:31Speaker 3: praising political violence. This country betrayed me. If you voted
- 42:35Speaker 3: for Trump, you have no honor, says a texture. Tex
- 42:39Speaker 3: says Trump only elected the president to invite dictators to
- 42:42Speaker 3: his inauguration. Sad day in America. Tex says it was
- 42:47Speaker 3: nice to hear Judge lindsay he's a wonderful person that

- 45:54Speaker 3: zero eight Texas Dave. The federal government is a bloated
- 45:57Speaker 3: goat and heeds ripped out by its roots. I hope
- 46:00Speaker 3: Trump fires ninety five percent of them in total and
- 46:03Speaker 3: get back to and they get back to work in person.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Everybody else does. I love watching liberals heads explode over this.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Democrats are say and do what they accused. Republicans up
- 46:14Speaker 3: number one. I would say if I start a band,
- 46:16Speaker 3: I like the name Bloated Goat. I think I just
- 46:19Speaker 3: got my new band name, Bloated Goat. As far as
- 46:21Speaker 3: everyone else does, look, I don't really care whether people
- 46:24Speaker 3: work at home or not. I mean, it's as I said,
- 46:27Speaker 3: I've worked in office, I've worked at home. It's whatever
- 46:29Speaker 3: people want to do. But more and more businesses are
- 46:32Speaker 3: to outside in the private sector are choosing to work
- 46:36Speaker 3: from home. And it is, as I said, a lot
- 46:38Speaker 3: of people when they are looking at whether to take
- 46:40Speaker 3: a job or not these days, it's just kind of
- 46:42Speaker 3: the culture. And this was actually started before COVID, but
- 46:46Speaker 3: COVID put the exclamation point on it for people wanting
- 46:49Speaker 3: to be able to work from home. A lot of
- 46:50Speaker 3: people when they're looking at jobs are saying, is there
- 46:54Speaker 3: a component where I could work from home? That's a
- 46:56Speaker 3: big part of them. Tex says, love the picture that
- 46:59Speaker 3: you pod of Jim Justice on his scooter and baby
- 47:02Speaker 3: dog in her wagon. What a disgrace. Well, I mean,
- 47:08Speaker 3: at least he was there, and I'm sure that Senator
- 47:13Speaker 3: Justice is probably not the only person on Capitol Hill
- 47:17Speaker 3: to use a Rascal or whatever the scooters are called.
- 47:19Speaker 3: He may be the only one with a dog in
- 47:21Speaker 3: a wagon. So it says a Texter. Texays, work from
- 47:26Speaker 3: home because that's the way we've always done it. Blah
- 47:28Speaker 3: blah blah. It says a Texter, Texas, America is back
- 47:32Speaker 3: on track with President Trump being back in charge. God
- 47:34Speaker 3: bless the USA. Tex says, how could a board again
- 47:39Speaker 3: Christian accept sinful behavior at its core? And wonder why
- 47:43Speaker 3: people are leaving our churches in droves? Christians voted for Trump.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Don't understand it, says a text Texas. With all the
- 47:50Speaker 3: snow and ice and the snowstorms at the beach, I
- 47:53Speaker 3: don't know how much more global warming I can stand.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Editor's note extreme weather with hot or cold. Whether you
- 48:01Speaker 3: believe in climate change or not, extreme weather, it's part
- 48:03Speaker 3: of climate change. So when people say that, well it's
- 48:07Speaker 3: thirty below zero, what about global warming, Well that's part
- 48:09Speaker 3: of it. That's part of climate change. But now you
- 48:12Speaker 3: can go all day as to whether you believe it
- 48:15Speaker 3: or not. That's another discussion for another time. Texas. I
- 48:18Speaker 3: don't care if they work at home or not. I
- 48:20Speaker 3: don't think you should continue to pay for huge empty buildings. Yeah,
- 48:24Speaker 3: I completely get that. Text says everybody talking about the
- 48:28Speaker 3: Trump pardons, but no one said a worried about Biden
- 48:31Speaker 3: partying the criminal families, said doctor Fauci. Well, on the contrary,
- 48:34Speaker 3: I think a lot of people set a great deal
- 48:36Speaker 3: about both the former president and the current president and
- 48:39Speaker 3: their pardons. Maybe it's time that we look at presidential
- 48:41Speaker 3: pardons in general. That's not part of the text. That's
- 48:44Speaker 3: me saying maybe we just need to look at them
- 48:46Speaker 3: in general. Texas Trump, Trump, Trump. I just love saying
- 48:52Speaker 3: that because it drives the liberals crazy. And I will
- 48:55Speaker 3: refer to him as daddy if I want to. That's
- 48:59Speaker 3: certainly that. Certainly you're right Texas, Hey, Republicans, let's go
- 49:05Speaker 3: beat up some cops. Daddy Orange Jesus says, this is patriotic.
- 49:09Speaker 3: F you Republicans, Wow, harsh Dave fy here in Florida,
- 49:14Speaker 3: we had a winter storm warning and we get a
- 49:17Speaker 3: lot of sleet where we are.
- 49:20Speaker 4: TJ.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Meadows, the co host, the equal hosts whatever he is
- 49:24Speaker 3: of Metro News talk Line along with Dave Wilson, is here.
- 49:27Speaker 3: How are you man? I'm good, all right? So where
- 49:29Speaker 3: are you on this whole working home thing for federal
- 49:31Speaker 3: are gonna talking? I don't want to take a thunder
- 49:33Speaker 3: away from the show. You gonna talk about it on
- 49:34Speaker 3: the show.
- 49:34Speaker 13: We're probably not probably not going to get into it.
- 49:36Speaker 13: Maybe with Capito. But look, I worked from home for
- 49:40Speaker 13: over half of my career before the pandemic, after the pandemic.
- 49:45Speaker 13: This is what this comes down to. Good employees are
- 49:49Speaker 13: always good employees. It doesn't matter if they're in a
- 49:51Speaker 13: coffee shop, at their house, at the office. If they
- 49:53Speaker 13: get the job done, they get the job done. In
- 49:55Speaker 13: my mind, two things here. Employers do not want to
- 49:59Speaker 13: deal with bad employees, and so you punish everybody because
- 50:02Speaker 13: that's the easiest thing to do. Make it a mass,
- 50:07Speaker 13: you know policy. The other thing is downtown's are hurting.
- 50:11Speaker 13: There's a lot of business that's done at lunch, breakfast,
- 50:14Speaker 13: you know, a lot of commerce.
- 50:17Speaker 3: People run out to grab a cup of coffee, they
- 50:19Speaker 3: run out to you know whatever.
- 50:20Speaker 4: I mean.
- 50:20Speaker 13: I worked in Columbus, Downtown Columbus for a number of
- 50:22Speaker 13: years remotely, and I got to tell you, Downtown Columbus
- 50:26Speaker 13: during the day, it's it goes town nationwide. It's the
- 50:28Speaker 13: biggest employer there. They have sixteen buildings. Last I checked,
- 50:32Speaker 13: subject to revision, eleven of those sixteen were up for
- 50:35Speaker 13: sale because they had nobody in them. That's a lot
- 50:37Speaker 13: of business that goes away from downtown, a lot of
- 50:39Speaker 13: tax money that goes away from downtown. That's the driver here,
- 50:42Speaker 13: getting people back into city centers for taxes, and the
- 50:46Speaker 13: fact that it's easier to just say everybody has to
- 50:49Speaker 13: work from home rather than dealing with an employee who
- 50:52Speaker 13: doesn't perform when you allow them to work from home.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Before we get, I'm trying to get as many taxes
- 50:56Speaker 3: as I can for I get. You have you do
- 50:58Speaker 3: a preview of the show to let me read a
- 50:59Speaker 3: couple tah Texas. How do Christians feel about Trump not
- 51:02Speaker 3: resting his hand on the Bible during the swearing in?
- 51:05Speaker 3: Or was that just ai liberal photo shopping? Says a Texter.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Republicans in control, don't blame Democrats, says a Texter. All right,
- 51:13Speaker 3: what's coming up on this big show today, mister Meadows.
- 51:15Speaker 3: We kick off today with Patricia Rucker. She is an
- 51:18Speaker 3: ardent opponent of DEI. She loves DEI. She's for it,
- 51:24Speaker 3: and you know we'll talk with her. She's for the
- 51:29Speaker 3: DEI changes. You may well well let me rephrase that.
- 51:32Speaker 13: Okay, sorry, you just concuss she's she's against it, and
- 51:37Speaker 13: we're going to talk with her about that. She sponsored
- 51:39Speaker 13: a bill in the Senate last year that did a
- 51:41Speaker 13: lot of what is in the Governor's EO. And even
- 51:43Speaker 13: more so, we'll have her on the program and discuss DEI.
- 51:46Speaker 13: Shelley Moore Capito joins us at ten forty five. That'll
- 51:49Speaker 13: be an interesting conversation. We'll talk all things well Washington.
- 51:52Speaker 13: I'm sure Pardons will come up, et cetera, et cetera,
- 51:55Speaker 13: so it should be a jam packed show. And then
- 51:58Speaker 13: obviously in the eleven o'clock hour, we're gonna talk a
- 52:01Speaker 13: lot of different issues with Washington.
- 52:02Speaker 3: What's happening. A lot of open segments on the show today,
- 52:04Speaker 3: because we want to get the feedback, and that's exactly
- 52:07Speaker 3: why I did what I did here, to give people
- 52:08Speaker 3: an opportunity to get hit. All right, I appreciate it, man,
- 52:11Speaker 3: Thanks a lot. Coming up on this show tomorrow and
- 52:14Speaker 3: again it's suck Drop Day here on the parking out
- 52:17Speaker 3: of eleven to eleven Virginia Streets in Charleston. We'll spend
- 52:20Speaker 3: a little time talking about that. Sean Hill of KRTS
- 52:22Speaker 3: on the show tomorrow and more on this Friday's Red's Caravan.
- 52:25Speaker 3: If you haven't done so already, please download the Metro
- 52:28Speaker 3: News TV app at the WVRC Media App as well.
- 52:31Speaker 3: As we said, TJ Meadows and mister Wilson coming up
- 52:34Speaker 3: with talk Line at ten oh six, Mac guitar Murphy
- 52:36Speaker 3: was my producer. Thank you so much, Murph, I will
- 52:38Speaker 3: see you tomorrow. Stay warm till next time, have fun.
- 52:42Speaker 3: I love somebody
