- 0:00Good job, Heidi. Good job.
- 0:02Good job. I'm so proud of you.
- 0:04I'm so proud of you. You freaking did it.
- 0:06You didn't want to do it, and you did.
- 0:08Come on, I think these little things help.
- 0:11Delulu is not the salulu. If you're aware that what you're
- 0:15doing is a form of affirmations. Or is it really delulu?
- 0:18To say I'm so proud of. You you can you can be.
- 0:22Hey Heidi, go to timeout. You are allowed to dance.
- 0:27Come on Heidi, creativity is always weird when you first
- 0:31start it, and that's what makes it like a novelty.
- 0:35You're. Acting like she's about to
- 0:35become Picasso. OK, well she's getting a bunch
- 0:37of views and people are resonating.
- 0:41Hey guys, welcome to Normal Gaze.
- 0:43I'm here with Starbucks consumer Clarkson.
- 0:46Lock cancel me guys. I'm sorry but these muffins are
- 0:49hot. Oh, we've, we've been having
- 0:51really good muffins that are like gluten free sour cream
- 0:53based muffins and they're having.
- 0:55Really good muffins of a IFBB bodybuilder.
- 0:59You know what that means, BB? It's something bodybuilding,
- 1:04right? Bodybuilding Competition.
- 1:05International Federation of Bodybuilding International.
- 1:09Federation of Bodybuilding. Need a mic?
- 1:11We we need a producer Cam. Yeah, I just made that up.
- 1:14I don't know, I think it might be.
- 1:15We should actually get a producer Cam.
- 1:16We should. Yeah, so I've had some buns.
- 1:19But then, because he doesn't want his face, he can wear a pup
- 1:22mask. What are you talking about?
- 1:25For the producer. Oh, I thought you were talking
- 1:26about me. I was like, Brad, that's your
- 1:29kink, not mine. That's.
- 1:31Not my kink, it's a joke. Well.
- 1:35Those things intersect. I mean.
- 1:38No, I mean, yeah, Brad is going to be at Folsom next year,
- 1:43peeing, getting peed on in the. Full circle for me because I
- 1:46started out as so judgment. He started out well, actually.
- 1:49So then what would my full Let's get into the episode.
- 1:51Oh my gosh, yes, we're going to talk about re parenting.
- 1:55Have you heard about this? What is that like reconditioning
- 1:59your child? Trend when you re parent
- 2:01yourself. Anytime there's parenting advice
- 2:03on TikTok it makes me want to punch a wall.
- 2:05I'm sorry. It's like gentle like gentle
- 2:08parenting. No, you're not.
- 2:10I will not be a gentle parent. I'm going to be.
- 2:13I won't bully them but like. You might a little well.
- 2:16Maybe a little my mom. Your kid is not going to be a
- 2:19furry, no. Oh my God, I will bully the out
- 2:22of if they ever try to do that. Absolutely not.
- 2:25I like the memes where it's. Like I'll send them to
- 2:27conversion therapy. For for.
- 2:30Converting from furries. Yeah, that's when I just get out
- 2:32the belt. Yeah, no, just kidding.
- 2:34I. Don't if you just take away.
- 2:35If your kids are furry, just take away their electronics.
- 2:38Just take off to take away TikTok and they'll be back to.
- 2:40You can pretend I I pretended to be vampires and all different
- 2:44types of things outside. There's now they give them fangs
- 2:46and say add it to your. Photos and then they're like
- 2:48this is part of my identity. It's like God shut the fuck
- 2:51you're playing house have. You ever seen that one clip
- 2:53where it's like this woman, it might be like some Jubilee thing
- 2:57or something, And this guy starts going, I identify.
- 2:59And then she goes, oh. Here comes that long plethora of
- 3:02things. That old lady, Yeah.
- 3:04She ate anyway. So this is a very fascinating
- 3:07USA TODAY article about a woman, a woke white woman who's become
- 3:11a TikTok sensation for her reparenting videos where she
- 3:14reparents her inner child in public.
- 3:18Does any of that make sense? Yeah, OK, I actually think I'm
- 3:21might be a little Foo Foo crazy and agree with her.
- 3:23Then I'm going to leave. Wait till you see the videos.
- 3:27Because she's OK. Go ahead.
- 3:28She dances in Target in a Cape. Meet the viral woman quote re
- 3:33parenting herself. A Cape.
- 3:35Heidi Bruce was walking through Target one day when one of her
- 3:39favorite songs came on. The 27 year old recalls how she
- 3:42felt an immediate urge to start dancing, something that
- 3:45initially terrified her. What would people think if they
- 3:48we saw an adult woman dancing in Target?
- 3:50Would something bad happen to her if she did?
- 3:52These fears, Bruce says, made clear what she had to do.
- 3:55Face those anxieties head on, let loose, and dance right there
- 3:59in Target. After all, it wasn't really her
- 4:01dancing, at least not her adult self.
- 4:03It was her inner child, she says, the childlike version that
- 4:07still lives in all of our psyches.
- 4:09The part that lived you, lived through your childhood, is still
- 4:12within you today, whether you had a horrible childhood or a
- 4:15great childhood. Now it's our role to be able to
- 4:17take care of her ourselves. She's a part of a community
- 4:21online of people striving to re parent themselves.
- 4:24As Bruce explains it, re parenting involves talking
- 4:27directly to that childlike part of yourself, listening to your
- 4:30needs, and then becoming the loving parent that you may or
- 4:33may not have had growing up. She's been documenting her re
- 4:37parenting journey, sharing videos online that have gone
- 4:40viral. In one of them, she jumps in the
- 4:42air celebrating her inner child's accomplishments.
- 4:45In another, she has a heart to heart with her inner child in
- 4:49the car. I did do you the courtesy of
- 4:51pulling some samples. OK, but do you have initial
- 4:54thoughts? I actually think it's great.
- 4:56Oh. My God this is your
- 4:58schizophrenia showing. No, it's not.
- 4:59I think that. Talking to herself in.
- 5:02Public OK affirmations are not a thing every religion requires
- 5:06you to. Pray and you've done them for
- 5:07that. Not not for praying.
- 5:08Scientifically it's proven that affirmations work.
- 5:10So actually I I'm manifesting. No, well it's it's true.
- 5:15You're reprogramming your brain to condition it to expect a
- 5:18certain reality that then your actions will follow to create.
- 5:21Because of your actions, not because of the.
- 5:22Affirmations, yes, but those actions a lot of them are
- 5:25subconsciously doing. Tricia Paytas, I manifested it.
- 5:28Brad is too literal type A for this.
- 5:32But the my only issue with this is it's not re parenting, it's
- 5:36reconditioning. And a lot of people who latch on
- 5:40to these ideas of like reconditioning themselves and re
- 5:43parenting. And a lot of times these are the
- 5:45people that don't need it. Like they they they victimize
- 5:48themselves too much. And then they blame everything
- 5:51on external sources like their parents.
- 5:52And then they assume that if they do all of this crazy stuff
- 5:55that that their problems will be solved because everything is
- 5:58their parents fault or like society's fault.
- 6:00So that's my issue with it. Yeah.
- 6:01I just. Think it's like coddling
- 6:02behavior. But if you're like dancing in
- 6:04public and stuff, I think that's awesome.
- 6:05I don't get embarrassed over much.
- 6:07Well, how about we watch a video?
- 6:08OK, let's watch it. I mean it might be cringe but
- 6:10like I kind of love that for her.
- 6:11It says re parenting in real time POV.
- 6:14You actually did the thing you've been avoiding.
- 6:17Now here is Heidi re parenting herself about to make you look
- 6:20stupid for defending this. Good job, Heidi.
- 6:24Good job. Good job.
- 6:26I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you.
- 6:28You freaking did it. You freaking did it.
- 6:30You didn't want to do it and you did.
- 6:33You didn't want to do it, and you did.
- 6:35Come on bitch, you did it. Yes, you deserve to celebrate
- 6:39yourself. You did it.
- 6:40You're so awesome. You did it.
- 6:41You said you were going to do it and you did it.
- 6:43You followed through with your word.
- 6:45You're so awesome, Heidi. I'm so.
- 6:47Proud of you. OK, this is too long.
- 6:49So proud. Of.
- 6:50You. Oh no, we're going to listen to
- 6:51all one minute. How?
- 6:52Can I celebrate you in this moment?
- 6:53Going to drop up and down. Heidi, Heidi.
- 6:59Heidi, Heidi. Heidi.
- 7:02She didn't. She did.
- 7:05She did. Good job, Heidi.
- 7:08Good job. Good job.
- 7:09Let this in. Let this in.
- 7:11Let this. Let it.
- 7:11Yeah. You did let this love it, Clark.
- 7:15I I love it. Right, you could be proud of
- 7:18yourself. She should be proud of herself.
- 7:21For what? Brushing her teeth that day.
- 7:23Have you ever been extremely depressed?
- 7:26Yes. Sometimes I think these little
- 7:29things help. Delulu is not the Solulu and
- 7:32hugging yourself and talking to yourself while setting up the
- 7:34camera because. It's really.
- 7:36But if you're aware that what you're doing is a form of
- 7:39affirmations, or is it really delulu?
- 7:42To say I'm so proud of you. You can be, you can be.
- 7:46Hey I understand recording it but like, it's cringe to watch
- 7:50from an outsider's perspective. Cringe.
- 7:52To do. I talk to myself in the mirror.
- 7:54Like that? Not like in a baby voice, like I
- 7:59don't, I, I don't think the baby voice is necessary, but I do
- 8:04think that like talking to yourself like that is necessary.
- 8:06But I also, and again, this is a subjective belief, but like, I
- 8:09believe that there is a higher consciousness and then there is
- 8:13our earthly experience in that sometimes you can tap into that
- 8:18higher consciousness and talk to yourself.
- 8:20So. So the comments section was not
- 8:22a fan of Heidi. Oh, as I swing by roll, the top
- 8:26comment is Heidi. I've had a long day.
- 8:29Oh, the next comment is Heidi, go to TIME Out.
- 8:34OK, I think the posting it on the Internet is weird because
- 8:38this is a very like. Supposed to be for you.
- 8:40I thought if it's for you, it's. If you want to explain how it's
- 8:43helped you, I think that would be great for the.
- 8:44Internet, it's performative. This this is performative and
- 8:48kind of like rage. Baby feels inauthentic.
- 8:51It's Lily Tino, with fewer minors being violated.
- 8:54OK. I think that's too much.
- 8:55OK, Yeah, that might be too much.
- 8:57I apologize to Heidi, that was too far.
- 9:00Too soon. Yeah.
- 9:02I don't know. The Internet thing is making it
- 9:03weird. Yeah, and the talking to
- 9:05yourself in a baby voice is making it weird.
- 9:07That's not very like you. You're like victimizing yourself
- 9:09with this, are you not? Because you're like coddling
- 9:12yourself and treating yourself like the overcoming the most
- 9:14minor hurdlesome herculean task. Like, I don't think you're
- 9:17victimizing yourself, I think that if you are at a starting
- 9:21point where you have been victimizing yourself, giving
- 9:25yourself positive affirmations on small things can lead to
- 9:28being accustomed to not needing them for those small things.
- 9:31He ate other comments. Things can be done off camera.
- 9:36Girl, get a journal. They're eating her up.
- 9:40They are eating her. Up you should, she should get a
- 9:42journal because this should be The thing is, is like this
- 9:46should be a personal experience. Spiritual growth should be a
- 9:49personal experience. The minute you put other
- 9:52people's perspective in it and you start looking for people to
- 9:54affirm what you're doing, it becomes you're taking, you're
- 9:57taking that personal experience and giving other people power
- 10:00over it. And then it's no longer about
- 10:01you, it's about everybody else's perception of you.
- 10:04And yeah, I don't necessarily agree with the way she's making
- 10:09the content personally, but I don't agree with the the basis
- 10:13or I do agree with like the basis of what she's doing.
- 10:16The other comments, Heidi, give me the phone.
- 10:20Heidi, it's 7:00 AM. Can we not?
- 10:22The comment sections on TikTok. I've gotten so much.
- 10:24Better. I love them now.
- 10:26They used to be woke and now they're.
- 10:27Brutal. They're so good.
- 10:28Now it's giving Instagram reels, yeah, but not like.
- 10:30That racist? No Instagram reels aren't even
- 10:32funny anymore. They're just me.
- 10:34They're just racist. They're like the Jews or it's
- 10:37like Islam or the. Yeah, but that's you.
- 10:40Leave it your comment. No, no, I don't leave those
- 10:42comments just I just make the videos that people leave them
- 10:45under. Anyway, in in some of her videos
- 10:48Bruce does this back to USA TODAY does unorthodox things to
- 10:51make her inner child happy, like dancing in the Isles of Target
- 10:54wearing a Cape and crown. You are allowed to dance here.
- 10:58Bruce says one of her Target videos which has 6.9 million
- 11:02views. I'm not sure you are allowed to
- 11:04dance there actually. Quote.
- 11:06Have you ever not done something in public just because you like?
- 11:09I think embarrassment is a conditioned behavior that it is
- 11:14very beneficial for us to overcome.
- 11:17If you shouldn't be embarrassed for the thing, but actually I
- 11:19think we've we've undone a little bit of the embarrassment
- 11:22too much and that's why we have. You think so?
- 11:24Well, OK, that's a valid point. But like, I don't know, maybe
- 11:29because this weekend, like we were acting like, like I used to
- 11:32get really embarrassed when I would like act like a tourist or
- 11:34act like everybody else. But like this weekend, we did
- 11:36all of that stuff and it was like.
- 11:38But you are so reactive like so vault like in your your like
- 11:41takes will swing based on like the thing that's happening with
- 11:44you latest. I just like to be authentic.
- 11:48To yourself in that. Moment to my experiences,
- 11:50correct? Anyway, so I'm going to play you
- 11:53this next video of Heidi here. Let's watch.
- 11:56OK, Heidi, you are allowed to dance.
- 11:59Come on, Heidi. Awkward because you're wearing a
- 12:02Cape in a crown and you're dancing.
- 12:05It's OK. You're not doing anything wrong,
- 12:09right? I'm not going to get in trouble
- 12:12just because I'm dancing and I'm dressing different and I'm being
- 12:17weird. I am allowed to dance.
- 12:20I am allowed to dance. I am allowed to.
- 12:23Dance. There is no rule against dancing
- 12:27right namesake. I'm saving my body like.
- 12:31Safe to express myself in the world that.
- 12:33Bans dancing. Even when I feel weird.
- 12:35No, I was going to What is it when I'm Saudi Arabia?
- 12:38No, I'm still. Seeing it's Islamophobic.
- 12:40Again, no. It's true.
- 12:41They ban dancing in public. Safe in the world?
- 12:45Safe to express myself. Something would be different.
- 12:49It's OK to feel weird, it's OK to be scared.
- 12:53I'm still safe even if people sleep.
- 12:56I. I love it because that's the
- 12:59thing. Any type.
- 13:00And here, Brad, I can't believe we're disagreeing like this.
- 13:03But creativity is always weird when you first start it, and
- 13:08that's what makes it like a novelty.
- 13:10You're acting like she's about to become Picasso.
- 13:12OK, well she's getting a bunch of views and people are
- 13:14resonating. No, people are not resonating
- 13:17with her content. I think people are whatever.
- 13:19I think that being very authentic to who you are and
- 13:23being weird, I will always respect it.
- 13:25I mean, I'm joking, obviously I don't have a serious.
- 13:29Problem, Obviously you don't wanna crack down on her for
- 13:33like, yeah. I just find it funny and I do
- 13:36appreciate the comments and everything.
- 13:39And I also don't believe this. The one piece of this I do
- 13:42actually disagree with is the like therapy language of it.
- 13:47This is not like a science based practice.
- 13:50This is not evidence based psychiatry.
- 13:52You're not going to heal yourself or your trauma like
- 13:55this. Like there's actual you have to
- 13:57do in therapy. EMDR therapy right has actual
- 14:00research and evidence behind it. Healing trauma talking to
- 14:04yourself in a Tutu in Target is not evidence based treatment and
- 14:09I don't like that piece of it. I don't like that she's framing
- 14:12it as if, well, I don't know exactly if she is, but if she's
- 14:15framing it as if it's actually a cure for serious trauma, then I
- 14:19wouldn't like that. But if it's like a cure for the
- 14:21normal things that come with with being human, like being
- 14:24embarrassed and socially conditioned to act a certain way
- 14:27and and afraid to share who you are.
- 14:29Like, I wouldn't consider that trauma, but I consider that
- 14:32something that humans should attempt to overcome.
- 14:35But imagine you're just like walking by in Target and you
- 14:37just see a bitch. Dancing.
- 14:39I was thinking about that. With a crown and a Cape and
- 14:43recording herself. I would think she was on meth.
- 14:47Actually. I was at Outback this weekend
- 14:49and this guy, I think I'm a psychic or like clairvoyant or
- 14:53something, or I just like, oh, sorry, it's Claire Cognizant.
- 14:56I just know things. The guy next to me in the booth
- 15:00next to us sat down and he was like kind of bald, giving off
- 15:05weird vibes. He sits down and I'm like OK, I
- 15:09have to say it. I was like meth head and because
- 15:12he sat alone and then of course the person I'm with is like
- 15:15don't be mean. Like you don't know that.
- 15:17Oh my God, he must be new to this.
- 15:19Relation because like there was no basis for me to say that I
- 15:23just like knew. I just knew.
- 15:25So then he orders his food and eats like 2 fries.
- 15:30He orders a big bowl of ranch too, which I get because Outback
- 15:33ranch slaps bitch I will use that as Lube and he doesn't eat
- 15:39anything. So then he does he tells the
- 15:41server and he's like I don't want to.
- 15:43He's like oh I thought I was more hungry than I was like I
- 15:46don't want this. So then he's like, can I get a
- 15:48box? And I'm going to leave?
- 15:49And then I turn and look, I said math.
- 15:52It curbs your appetite. And he's like, maybe I don't, I
- 15:56don't know. And then the server comes and
- 16:00this guy, he goes and gets the box.
- 16:01It's like, I don't need a box. And then he starts tweaking.
- 16:03He starts scratching his face. And then he's like Jews 911.
- 16:11And like then he starts just ranting.
- 16:13And I, I look at him and I go, if you ever think I'm not right
- 16:16again, check yourself. Always right I am.
- 16:20Actually. Sometimes I'm wrong, but most of
- 16:21the time I. I love this guy getting slowly
- 16:24introduced to Clarkson, Yeah. Like real.
- 16:26I was correct, it was meth. Oh.
- 16:28My God, so the final. Been Tina?
- 16:30Is that the same thing as meth? I don't know.
- 16:33Doctor, ask doctor behind the camera is I don't.
- 16:36Think they cover that in Pediatrics?
- 16:38No, crack is cocaine. Oh, I've done crack.
- 16:41No, you haven't. It's a different.
- 16:43Form just kidding, I haven't done crack you guys.
- 16:46I don't do drugs, unfortunately. I just drink heavily.
- 16:49No, you barely even drink. I know.
- 16:51I don't even drink. I'm just saying this for the bit
- 16:53because I need this to be interesting, OK?
- 16:56Final bit on the The woman No matter how idyllic your
- 16:59upbringing was, the truth is no one gets out of childhood I
- 17:02entirely unscathed. Psychological and emotional
- 17:05wounds from an early life can be activated anytime, whether while
- 17:09walking through Target or just before hopping on the phone with
- 17:11a reporter. Bruce admits she checked in on
- 17:14her inner child and did some quick re parenting before her
- 17:17interview with USA TODAY. Yes, I totally did, she says.
- 17:21I was like, OK, you're nervous and I can hold your nerves.
- 17:24I'm not nervous because you're nervous.
- 17:26I can hold this all. So yeah, I definitely did.
- 17:29Do you not see why this shit annoys me?
- 17:32Well, it's kind of out of hand. Like, what parent?
- 17:34It's not a parent's job to, like, hold a child's nerve.
- 17:37I don't know. Now it's just getting a little
- 17:39weird. I'm starting to get pissed off,
- 17:41you bitch. No, I mean, I agree with it, but
- 17:45at some point it's like it's a little over the top.
- 17:48Like I don't. I'm sorry.
- 17:50I'm sorry. Now that she's re parenting
- 17:52herself to the before talking to the reporter it's over the top.
- 17:54When she was dancing at Target you were like slay Mama.
- 17:58Yeah, I think that's fine because sometimes I just do
- 18:01things like if I feel embarrassed about it, I'll just
- 18:03do it because I'm like, EW, why do you care about what other
- 18:06people think? Like, just do it and on purpose.
- 18:08So like, I'll do like weird stuff, you know what I mean?
- 18:12Oh, I know you do. Weird.
- 18:13Stuff like I'll just like if I'm in public, I don't know, like
- 18:17out of nowhere, like pretend like I have Tourettes.
- 18:19And you had down. Syndrome.
- 18:20I did. I pretend as a child.
- 18:21I would pretend like I was mentally and my sisters and
- 18:27brother would play along with it.
- 18:28So then we would get to the cashier and I would be like
- 18:31mommy blah blah blah. And I didn't mean that in a bad
- 18:35way. I'm just trying to give you
- 18:36guys. We're getting we're going to be
- 18:38disabled they're. Going to be bad at me again but
- 18:41I would do this and then my mom would like yell at me because
- 18:45she knows I'm faking but my brothers, my brothers and
- 18:49sisters would go along with it. So it seemed like my mom was
- 18:52yelling at a disabled kid to stop being disabled, no?
- 18:55Wonder your mom got? Schizophrenia, I know, but The
- 18:58thing is, is, but I also went into grocery stores and like
- 19:01dressed up in girls clothes and would walk up and be like, do
- 19:04you know where the tampons are? Wait, what?
- 19:06Yeah, like I, it was improv. Like I always was just like in
- 19:09character in some way. And like we didn't, I don't
- 19:12know. And then we would all like dress
- 19:14up as different things. So or I would dress up and I
- 19:17would have in a dress and I'd have my buzz cut and I would
- 19:19like tell people I had cancer like I was a little girl with
- 19:21cancer told. Me that one but the weirdest
- 19:23tampons 1 is a new lower drop that I haven't heard before.
- 19:26Yeah, they would. Well, and then also we would put
- 19:29like a fake pregnant belly on me and do it.
- 19:32And like a child. Yeah, I know.
- 19:33That's like, creepy. And my parents would like, they
- 19:36knew we were going to do this and like they would drive us to
- 19:39the grocery store. I know.
- 19:41Not all Alabama. I was very like artistically.
- 19:47I had a lot of freedom of expression.
- 19:49That's what you're calling it, a lot of freedom of expression.
- 19:51Yes, because that's what it was. I was.
- 19:53I was doing improv as characters.
- 19:54Or acting out as a cry for help. No, it wasn't a cry for help.
- 19:58I was having a lot of fun. Doesn't mean you didn't.
- 20:00I was getting a lot of attention too.
- 20:03I love you. Yeah, we know.
- 20:05We know that. Anyway, guys, let us know what

- 20:13dancing in Target and talking to himself as a child.
- 20:16I'll do it. I'll drop in the splits.
- 20:18Actually you probably will cuz it will get views.
- 20:20I will so and that's really your only metric.
- 20:22Except I don't know if I'm gonna hug myself.
- 20:25You actually should you should actually film cuz it's so
- 20:28popular on tic tac the. Rethink.
