• 2:42
Speaker 6: how are you man?
• 2:43
  Speaker 3: Good morning.
• 2:44
Speaker 4: Watch the Kentucky Derby. You a Derby guy?
• 2:46
  Speaker 3: I am not.
• 2:48
Speaker 6: I don't know really a whole lot about it, but
• 2:51
Speaker 6: it's kind of a tradition. Like every year my wife
• 2:53
Speaker 6: and I watch it. You know, we pick a horse
• 2:55
Speaker 6: and neither one of us did. Uh well, I went
• 2:58
  Speaker 6: with the.
• 3:00
Speaker 4: Journalism, which was the favorite, and uh that that one
• 3:04
Speaker 4: didn't win, but hers didn't either, So.
• 3:06
Speaker 3: Wonder what the odds was? We're on the on the
• 3:09
  Speaker 3: one that won.
• 3:10
  Speaker 6: I don't know. I have to look that up. I'll
• 3:13
Speaker 6: try to do that here momentarily. But anyway, then, so
• 3:17
Speaker 6: you I would have thought you would have been a
• 3:19
Speaker 6: Derby guy, Danny. You just kind of look like a
• 3:21
Speaker 6: guy that would Have you ever been to the Derby?
• 3:24
Speaker 3: I like to I like to put my money down,
• 3:27
  Speaker 3: but I don't know. I don't know bet on that.
• 3:30
Speaker 3: I remember in the seventies, what was the name of
• 3:33
Speaker 3: the horse, that one that first triple crown secretariat? Yeah,
• 3:38
Speaker 3: and then they had another horse year or two later
• 3:40
Speaker 3: named Seattle Flew uh huh. Yeah. And the reason I
• 3:45
Speaker 3: know that because we made bits out of it at
• 3:47
Speaker 3: the bar that I was working at and later owned.
• 3:51
  Speaker 3: We'd have a Saturday afternoon we'd make a bit out
• 3:56
Speaker 3: of it, you know, and give away sandwiches or something
• 4:00
Speaker 3: and let people buy their own whiskey. Yeah.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: Nine to one were the odds on sovereignty in the winter. Wow,
• 4:11
Speaker 4: nine to one. Just looked it up there.
• 4:13
Speaker 6: So yesterday I thought of you, and we'll get into
• 4:17
Speaker 6: some other stuff a little bit later. The news shows
• 4:19
Speaker 6: were depressing me a little bit yesterday, and we'll get
• 4:21
Speaker 6: into that a little bit later on. So I flipped
• 4:23
Speaker 6: over to the antenna network, the rerun channel as one
• 4:27
Speaker 6: of them is, as I call it. They were doing
• 4:29
Speaker 6: an All in the Family marathon yesterday and at one
• 4:33
Speaker 6: point I laughed so hard I was almost crying. And
• 4:38
Speaker 6: what a great show on that show?
• 4:40
Speaker 3: Now? Oh no, no, no, you know that it's on
• 4:43
  Speaker 3: Amazon Prime.
• 4:44
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 4:44
Speaker 6: One of the interesting things about All in the Family,
• 4:48
Speaker 6: if you ever do, I'm a geek when it comes
• 4:51
Speaker 6: to my favorite TV shows or movies. I want to
• 4:53
Speaker 6: know every possible thing about it, and I've done a
• 4:54
Speaker 6: lot of reading about it.
• 4:56
Speaker 4: Of course, it was a breakoutthead as soon as it
• 4:57
Speaker 4: came out of the gate for CBS in the early
• 4:59
  Speaker 4: nineteen vities.
• 5:01
  Speaker 8: Uh.
• 5:01
Speaker 6: But Norman Lear, the creator of the show, actually, at
• 5:05
Speaker 6: one point, you know, it was meant to bring up
• 5:08
Speaker 6: serious issues. But in later interviews, Norman Lear talked about
• 5:13
Speaker 6: that some people saw Archie Bunker as a hero and
• 5:16
Speaker 6: that was not his intention at all, and he was
• 5:19
Speaker 6: quite bothered by that because but it's kind of like
• 5:22
Speaker 6: it's kind of like, you know, going back to my
• 5:24
Speaker 6: old wrestling days, you know, you when you make the
• 5:27
Speaker 6: bad guys really really cool, people like them no matter
• 5:29
Speaker 6: what they do. And it's kind of the way it
• 5:31
  Speaker 6: was with Archie.
• 5:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, and Norman liberal is very very liberal go in
• 5:35
Speaker 3: and so he would have not liked that character. But
• 5:40
Speaker 3: Archie was was also very liberal.
• 5:45
  Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
• 5:46
Speaker 3: And the real person, he's the exact opposite of that.
• 5:49
Speaker 6: And Rob Reiner is extremely if you follow Rob Reiner
• 5:53
Speaker 6: on Twitter on x Man, yeah, he is extremely liberal.
• 5:57
Speaker 6: I mean even to this day, he's very active on
• 5:59
  Speaker 6: social media, very.
• 6:00
Speaker 3: Very liberal, hard left, hard left.
• 6:02
Speaker 4: Well, most people in Hollywood are.
• 6:04
Speaker 6: And and that's why I think one of the reasons
• 6:07
Speaker 6: why you if you saw an interview with Trump, he
• 6:10
Speaker 6: said he wants to start having movies made in America again,
• 6:15
Speaker 6: and he wants them brought back, and he's gonna put
• 6:18
Speaker 6: like a huge tariff on any movie that's made outside
• 6:23
Speaker 6: of America, and a lot of people the thinking behind that, Danny,
• 6:26
Speaker 6: a lot of people think is he wants he wants
• 6:30
Speaker 6: to take a shot at the movie industry in general
• 6:33
Speaker 6: because of their their liberal bias.
• 6:36
  Speaker 4: Reel or perceived.
• 6:37
Speaker 3: Well on Bill Maher when he had he was interviewing
• 6:40
Speaker 3: Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom says he needs to do something
• 6:45
Speaker 3: to bring him back to California because they've left California
• 6:49
Speaker 3: and they've moved to Atlanta, and Texas is one of
• 6:52
Speaker 3: the hotspots, and that's because the tax breaks.
• 6:56
Speaker 6: So well, and those states, I mean, now, not Atlanta
• 7:00
Speaker 6: so much. I mean, George is an interesting state politically
• 7:03
Speaker 6: because it is a When you're in the metro areas,
• 7:06
Speaker 6: specifically in Atlanta, it tends to be more liberal. But
• 7:09
Speaker 6: when you get into you know, there's well it is
• 7:13
  Speaker 6: and there's a but there's a lot.
• 7:14
Speaker 4: Of rural Georgia that you know.
• 7:16
Speaker 3: Very very not so liberal, very red, very red.
• 7:19
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 7:20
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 7:21
  Speaker 4: Again.
• 7:21
Speaker 6: A text here says a day the Day, the Trump
• 7:24
Speaker 6: take of the day. Don't know if he has to
• 7:28
Speaker 6: uphold the Constitution to rename veterans date of Victory Day,
• 7:30
Speaker 6: This is a joke, not real.
• 7:33
  Speaker 4: Jo, it's real, it's real.
• 7:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's got no business doing that.
• 7:37
Speaker 4: So what do you think is the reason behind him?
• 7:38
  Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know what his breathing is
• 7:41
Speaker 3: with anything but latest being Alcatraz. But but he he
• 7:48
Speaker 3: needs to leave that kind of stuff alone to veterans,
• 7:52
Speaker 3: not not to him who isn't a veteran.
• 7:57
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 7:57
Speaker 4: Well, I mean that's one of the major.
• 8:00
Speaker 6: Issues that I have with with Donald Trump, and it
• 8:03
Speaker 6: didn't matter whether he was President Trump or not. And again,
• 8:06
Speaker 6: I'm a son of a veteran, and to me, you
• 8:09
Speaker 6: haven't earned the right to say anything about veterans. And
• 8:13
Speaker 6: to be fair, I might have said the same thing
• 8:14
Speaker 6: about Bill Clinton too, you know, so you haven't.
• 8:17
Speaker 4: You haven't earned the right to be able. I did
• 8:19
  Speaker 4: do these things.
• 8:20
Speaker 3: I did say. I was on the air then, and
• 8:23
Speaker 3: everybody called Clinton a draft dodger, But he's no more
• 8:27
Speaker 3: a draft dodger than the man you have now.
• 8:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, I would agree with that bone Spurs, Captain bone Spurs,
• 8:34
Speaker 4: as he's been called you.
• 8:36
Speaker 6: And walking down here from the office this morning, you
• 8:39
Speaker 6: said something about Alcatraz. You wanted to talk about Alcatraz,
• 8:41
Speaker 6: and in the Danny Jones style, you said, I've been there.
• 8:45
Speaker 6: I know a lot about it, almost like you served there.
• 8:47
Speaker 6: Let me just point out the record. You did not
• 8:49
Speaker 6: serve in Alcatraz, right, No, I.
• 8:51
Speaker 3: But I've visited several several times, and I've visited when
• 8:55
Speaker 3: only two hundred people a day were going over and
• 8:58
Speaker 3: now there's a million people year. Alcatraz makes a lot
• 9:01
Speaker 3: of money. And if you turn it back into prison,
• 9:05
Speaker 3: you're going to lose a lot of money.
• 9:06
  Speaker 4: It's a tourist spot.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: And it was closed in March of nineteen sixty three
• 9:13
Speaker 3: by Robert F. Kennedy Senior because it cost too much
• 9:19
Speaker 3: to the foundation was crumbling. Then imagine what it's like now.
• 9:26
Speaker 3: And in nineteen seventy the Indians took it over and
• 9:30
Speaker 3: they stayed there for one year or maybe year and
• 9:33
Speaker 3: a half and lived there, and then finally Nixon said
• 9:37
Speaker 3: they got to go. He let him stay there, but
• 9:39
Speaker 3: finally he said they had to go, but that the
• 9:42
Speaker 3: warden had a big house there and they burned it up.
• 9:45
Speaker 3: It's just now a shell of a house. But there
• 9:48
Speaker 3: was one young guy there that named people may recognize
• 9:52
Speaker 3: Benjamin Bratt, law and order guy, David Julia Roberts. You
• 9:58
Speaker 3: know I'm talking about. He was a little kid and
• 10:02
Speaker 3: he lived on Alcatraz for a while.
• 10:06
Speaker 6: What do you think about the idea of Is it's
• 10:08
Speaker 6: just more Trump, you know, throwing things out there to
• 10:10
Speaker 6: see what sticks that's not actually gonna happen, or.
• 10:12
Speaker 3: Well, I mean, he's the man in charge, but it's
• 10:16
Speaker 3: financially it'd be ridiculous to do that first thing Alcatraz
• 10:24
Speaker 3: wasn't the worst prison to stay in, It just happened
• 10:27
Speaker 3: to be one you couldn't escape from. That was the
• 10:29
Speaker 3: whole idea behind it. Each sells nine by five. You
• 10:33
Speaker 3: get a cell by yourself, so you got forty five
• 10:37
Speaker 3: square feet in there, and you got to go outside
• 10:40
Speaker 3: a lot. And because they didn't want you to get
• 10:44
Speaker 3: used to cold water, they had you take you had
• 10:48
Speaker 3: lots of hot water for showers.
• 10:51
  Speaker 4: That's interesting.
• 10:52
Speaker 3: I didn't know that they did. And they didn't want
• 10:54
Speaker 3: you fighting over food, so they made sure you had
• 10:57
Speaker 3: good foods. They didn't want to start any food fights
• 11:00
Speaker 3: in there. So a lot of people, a lot of prisons,
• 11:04
Speaker 3: they might revolt over food. Well they didn't at Alcatraz
• 11:07
Speaker 3: because they had good food. The last menu, by the way,
• 11:10
Speaker 3: for breakfast is up on the wall. I don't remember,
• 11:14
Speaker 3: but it was still there when I was there. And
• 11:19
Speaker 3: the cells still close and open, and you still got
• 11:23
Speaker 3: the three cells that were broken out of and you've
• 11:27
Speaker 3: got the hole where the into the ventilations that in
• 11:35
Speaker 3: the back of the cell that was taken out, and
• 11:39
Speaker 3: they'll show you where those cells are. But outside in
• 11:42
Speaker 3: the yard is where you could go spend time and
• 11:48
Speaker 3: Alcatraz was not a bad prison to be in. I
• 11:50
Speaker 3: mean a lot of worst prison. The worst prison to
• 11:53
Speaker 3: be in the day is Florida Florence, Colorado. Ad X
• 11:57
  Speaker 3: is absolutely.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: Awful, and I think I saw a documentary on that.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: At one point, you have a cell inside of a cell.
• 12:09
Speaker 3: In other words, you open a big steel door to
• 12:13
Speaker 3: get to the bars, and you get to go out
• 12:18
Speaker 3: in this little outside room which you don't get to
• 12:25
Speaker 3: see outside. You just get to see the sky and
• 12:28
Speaker 3: it's concrete and you get to walk around there, play
• 12:33
Speaker 3: handball by yourself, or do it, do whatever you do,
• 12:36
Speaker 3: but you do a cavity search before you go, and
• 12:39
Speaker 3: a cavity search when you're on when you come back,
• 12:43
Speaker 3: and the worst of the worst are out there. Ramsey
• 12:48
Speaker 3: useless out there. Sammy Gravano was there for seven years
• 12:53
Speaker 3: and I heard he described it, and uh, you got
• 12:58
Speaker 3: a little black and white TV in there, teenage with headphones.
• 13:02
Speaker 3: You got your own shower because they don't want you
• 13:06
Speaker 3: to leave in the room. You're stuck in the room
• 13:08
Speaker 3: twenty twenty three hours a day unless you want to
• 13:13
Speaker 3: go outside. If they let you go outside.

• 16:03
Speaker 6: Charleston Mayor Danny Jones is here Texas after Clinton draft
• 16:06
Speaker 6: dodging and sex scandals opened the barn door. Now no
• 16:09
Speaker 6: one cares, since it's been done and ignored back then, Danny, your.
• 16:13
Speaker 3: Thoughts, well, I don't think it was ignored. He got
• 16:16
Speaker 3: he got impeached, and he took quite a bit of
• 16:19
Speaker 3: heat for being for being a draft Dodger.
• 16:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that was a major theme of the
• 16:23
  Speaker 4: ninety two campaign.
• 16:24
Speaker 3: Well even afterwards, it was people couldn't believe he got elected,
• 16:28
Speaker 3: and then because he dethroned a war hero and uh,
• 16:35
Speaker 3: and then he ran against another war hero and beat him,
• 16:39
Speaker 3: Bob Dole. So you know, I mean, maybe that maybe
• 16:45
Speaker 3: the texta is correct. Maybe people don't care about that
• 16:48
  Speaker 3: kind of stuff.
• 16:48
Speaker 6: I mean, there was a I was thinking about this
• 16:51
Speaker 6: the other day, some of the things, whether you like
• 16:54
Speaker 6: Trump or not, some of the things that he has
• 16:56
  Speaker 6: said and done.
• 17:00
Speaker 4: Thirty forty years ago.
• 17:01
Speaker 6: I mean, I cannot imagine you know, a president of
• 17:05
Speaker 6: doing behaving in that way. But you also not to
• 17:08
Speaker 6: play amateur psychologists here, Danny. It's a totally different time.
• 17:11
Speaker 6: I mean, and everybody lives on social media now. Everybody
• 17:15
Speaker 6: plays a character. You know, your social media persona is
• 17:19
Speaker 6: not nine times out of ten year real life persona.
• 17:21
Speaker 6: It's things that you project that you want out there.
• 17:24
Speaker 6: And we just keep coming up with more. I know,
• 17:26
Speaker 6: I sound like the old guy here, but we just
• 17:29
Speaker 6: keep coming up with more and more outrageous stuff.
• 17:32
Speaker 4: And Trump Trump. To me, Trump is just a sign
• 17:35
  Speaker 4: of the times.
• 17:36
Speaker 3: And he has redefined the courses of the language with vulgarity. Yeah,
• 17:42
Speaker 3: I mean he is. I mean, I'm can be vulgar,
• 17:46
Speaker 3: but trying to make it private.
• 17:47
Speaker 4: Well, there's time and place, Danny.
• 17:50
Speaker 3: You know time and place, and but he doesn't in public.
• 17:53
Speaker 3: And everybody I was thinking about when Corey Booker did
• 17:58
Speaker 3: that speech twenty five.
• 18:00
Speaker 4: Hours, who was that for himself?
• 18:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, and he wants to be president. And you've got
• 18:07
Speaker 3: Chris van Holland, who wants that photo op with that
• 18:13
Speaker 3: white beater down there in El Salvador. I mean what,
• 18:18
  Speaker 3: I don't think that's gonna work out so well, they're
• 18:20
Speaker 3: finding out more about that guy, but everybody's looking for
• 18:28
Speaker 3: a bite that old people latch onto, like Jasmine Crockett,
• 18:33
Speaker 3: for instance, And sometimes it works in their favor and
• 18:39
Speaker 3: sometimes it doesn't. Yeah, sometimes you remember it for the
• 18:43
Speaker 3: right reason, and sometimes you remember it for the wrong.
• 18:46
Speaker 6: But it's like the old adage, any press is good press,
• 18:49
Speaker 6: and as long as they're talking about you. That's the
• 18:52
Speaker 6: modern mindset of a lot of political figures. It used
• 18:56
Speaker 6: to be that was confined primarily primarily let's say, athletes
• 18:59
Speaker 6: or be musicians, But now you gotta I mean that
• 19:04
Speaker 6: in order to make it on the national front. There's
• 19:07
Speaker 6: got to be a story, there's got to be a
• 19:09
Speaker 6: buzz about you. That's just that's just where we are
• 19:12
Speaker 6: as a society now, Dan.
• 19:13
Speaker 3: And I look at this thing, and of course we're
• 19:16
Speaker 3: four years away. But Democrats don't have anybody, you know,
• 19:21
Speaker 3: I mean, not personally like Josh Shapiro of the governor
• 19:23
Speaker 3: of Pennsylvania. If they nominated him, be the first Democrat
• 19:26
Speaker 3: I ever voted for for president.
• 19:28
Speaker 4: But what is about Shapiro that you liked to it?
• 19:30
Speaker 4: Because you told me that before?
• 19:31
Speaker 3: What is it common sense? Okay, he's the real deal.
• 19:34
Speaker 4: And look I said this on the show before. I
• 19:35
Speaker 4: thank you, and I even said it.
• 19:37
Speaker 6: I watch a lot of as you do, a lot
• 19:39
Speaker 6: of you know, Sunday morning shows, Bill Maher, so On
• 19:41
Speaker 6: and so and so forth until the National Democratic Party.
• 19:46
Speaker 6: And I love Donna Brazil. I don't always agree with
• 19:48
Speaker 6: Donna Brazil, but I enjoy She's very entertaining, she's very good.
• 19:51
Speaker 6: I watch her, you know, every Sunday morning on the
• 19:54
Speaker 6: This Week's Show with Stephan Novelis. Until the National Democratic
• 19:58
Speaker 6: Party stands up and says no to some of this lunacy.
• 20:04
Speaker 4: Then they're not going anywhere.
• 20:06
  Speaker 2: Well.
• 20:06
Speaker 6: Trump may be the worst, Trump may be the worst
• 20:08
Speaker 6: person in history. However he's going to win. He's gonna
• 20:12
Speaker 6: I mean, if if you if the if the election
• 20:14
Speaker 6: were to be held today, even with his thirty percent
• 20:17
Speaker 6: approval rating, lowest approval rating first one hundred days of
• 20:20
Speaker 6: any president history, he'd win again.
• 20:22
Speaker 3: Well, Carvil's got some sense. And Donald Brazil I think
• 20:28
Speaker 3: she had some sense. I introduced myself to her Atlanta Airport, really,
• 20:32
Speaker 3: and she's a great, big woman. She's tall and uh.
• 20:38
Speaker 3: I told her I was the mayor of Charleston, West
• 20:39
Speaker 3: Virginia state capital. And she says, well, were you in
• 20:43
Speaker 3: the service like that? And I said, yeah, I was
• 20:46
Speaker 3: in the Marine Corps. I went to Vietnam. Well, thank
• 20:48
Speaker 3: you for your sir. And I read her book and
• 20:54
Speaker 3: she's a man's woman. She likes to drink Scotch. Yeah,
• 20:58
Speaker 3: and she she she'd be fun to hang out with.
• 21:01
Speaker 6: I think, look, if if I had to hang out
• 21:03
Speaker 6: with somebody that's on that panel that I watch every
• 21:06
Speaker 6: it'd be it's not going to be ranch previous.
• 21:08
Speaker 4: I can tell you that.
• 21:09
  Speaker 14: No.
• 21:09
Speaker 3: Donovan feels a lot of fun. She's a nice person.
• 21:12
Speaker 6: Yeah, I wanted to ask you something we talked a
• 21:15
Speaker 6: little bit about this doing the break has to do
• 21:17
Speaker 6: with downtown Charleston and this future proposed Capital Sports complex sooks.
• 21:21
  Speaker 4: Fact, the federal.
• 21:21
Speaker 6: Funding UH needed is not going to come through. So
• 21:25
Speaker 6: the project, according to County commission President Bensolanga, who we
• 21:28
Speaker 6: had on the show last week, the project is on hold.
• 21:31
Speaker 6: Do you have any any opinions on that, because I think,
• 21:34
Speaker 6: as you know, being may as long as you were,
• 21:35
Speaker 6: you could see the economic impact that that thing could have.
• 21:38
Speaker 3: It'd be great. I'm just very sorry that people, you know,
• 21:46
Speaker 3: they confront me with it. People confront me with things,
• 21:49
Speaker 3: and they were they going to get the money. I
• 21:53
Speaker 3: hope they probably had it lined up before they had
• 21:55
  Speaker 3: their press Combe.
• 21:56
Speaker 6: Well, he's blaming Washington right now, is what the Commissioner
• 21:58
Speaker 6: Silango's saying, because the and and Senator Shelley Moore Capito
• 22:03
Speaker 6: has has really been instrumental in trying to get this
• 22:05
Speaker 6: deal done. But the budget didn't go through that they wanted,
• 22:08
Speaker 6: and so they're with the money. He's not saying, you know,
• 22:10
Speaker 6: as he pointed out the show last week, Danny, he's
• 22:12
Speaker 6: not saying that the project is dead. But right now
• 22:16
Speaker 6: it's just on hold.
• 22:17
Speaker 3: Well, what if they're going to take twenty thousand dollars
• 22:20
Speaker 3: from a nonprofit in Jackson County, how are we going
• 22:24
Speaker 3: to get seven million dollars?
• 22:25
Speaker 4: This is the Doge cuts you're talking about.
• 22:28
Speaker 6: Yeah, we had we had the lady that was a
• 22:29
Speaker 6: director of that group on the show, on the Metro
• 22:31
  Speaker 6: News midday show.
• 22:32
Speaker 3: The point is, if we haven't gotten it by now,
• 22:36
  Speaker 3: I mean I'm not I'm not optimistic. I don't know.
• 22:40
Speaker 3: I hope I'm wrong. But what do she have to wait?
• 22:44
Speaker 3: And seeing the mayor be on here.
• 22:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, she'll be on here about ten minutes or so.
• 22:51
Speaker 4: I'm gonna read a text to you here, Danny. All right,
• 22:53
Speaker 4: I'm just gonna read it, all right.
• 22:55
Speaker 6: Nice of you to bring back these sex abuser apologists.
• 22:58
Speaker 6: Why is Danny Jones afraid to alienate Trump weirdos? I mean,
• 23:01
Speaker 6: what more can you do to say that you're not
• 23:04
Speaker 6: a Donald Trump person?
• 23:06
  Speaker 3: I don't get that.
• 23:07
Speaker 6: Well, I mean, this person's obviously misinformed because I've never
• 23:11
Speaker 6: heard you. I don't know that I've heard you say
• 23:13
Speaker 6: anything good about Donald Trump.
• 23:14
Speaker 3: The only thing I can tell people to do is
• 23:17
Speaker 3: to google mayor Danny Jones and go to my Wikipedia
• 23:20
Speaker 3: page and explains all about my feelings about Donald Trump.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: I left the Republican Party because you got nominated. And
• 23:29
Speaker 3: I don't hate him. I'm not one of those that
• 23:32
Speaker 3: doesn't want him to succeed. But I didn't vote for him,
• 23:38
Speaker 3: never have. The last three national elections, I voted for
• 23:42
  Speaker 3: a libertarian candidate.
• 23:46
Speaker 6: So Texas, nice of you. You to both sides fascism.
• 23:51
Speaker 6: Democrats are so extreme that I have no choice but
• 23:54
Speaker 6: to support the January sixth attack on the Capitol.
• 23:57
Speaker 4: You two make me sick. We make this person sick, Danny.
• 24:01
Speaker 6: I mean, has this person never heard what I've said
• 24:02
  Speaker 6: about January sixth? I mean I didn't say I was
• 24:06
Speaker 6: that I was voting for Donald Trump. I didn't vote
• 24:08
Speaker 6: for Donald Trump last time. I did in twenty sixteen,
• 24:11
Speaker 6: but I didn't last time what I said if they
• 24:13
Speaker 6: person wanted to, you know, to listen. I mean, I
• 24:16
Speaker 6: made my points on January sixth clear. I left the
• 24:19
Speaker 6: Republican Party because of January sixth. I mean, what the
• 24:22
Speaker 6: hell else can I do?
• 24:24
  Speaker 3: I read Cassie Hutchinson's The Book. I read Liz Cheney's
• 24:28
Speaker 3: book several times. I read Jonathan Carl who wrote another
• 24:34
Speaker 3: book called Tired of Winning, about that whole thing. And
• 24:39
Speaker 3: I've never read a book that thinks January sixth was
• 24:43
Speaker 3: a good idea, because I don't think there is such
• 24:45
Speaker 3: a book out there.
• 24:47
Speaker 4: But there were patriots, though, Danny.
• 24:50
Speaker 3: Well, patriots don't do damage to the Capitol.
• 24:55
Speaker 6: But then you go down all of these rabbit holes
• 24:59
Speaker 6: of the The police were in on it, the FBI
• 25:02
Speaker 6: was in on it. I watched it. I told the
• 25:04
Speaker 6: story before I watched it in real time. I was
• 25:06
Speaker 6: watching it on c SPAN when it happened without any
• 25:09
Speaker 6: kind of commentary. I watched it because I just had
• 25:11
Speaker 6: a feeling something was going to happen. I watched it
• 25:13
Speaker 6: in real time and what I saw horrified me. And
• 25:16
Speaker 6: before somebody decides to text in and say, well, what
• 25:20
Speaker 6: did you think about the when when when the BLM
• 25:23
Speaker 6: was burning down Inner City, I thought that was terrible too. Yeah,
• 25:26
Speaker 6: two things can be right at the same time.
• 25:28
Speaker 3: That wasn't orchestrated by the president, right, right, right. And
• 25:35
Speaker 3: Liz Chang's book It's Juicy, she describes it as it
• 25:41
Speaker 3: happened in real time on the floor of the house,
• 25:44
Speaker 3: and she was back there writing her speech, and her
• 25:47
Speaker 3: dad called her and when Trump was having his rally
• 25:51
Speaker 3: out on the ellipse, and she said, he said, Dick
• 25:55
Speaker 3: Cheniott asked, Liz said, are you watching television? She said, no,
• 25:59
Speaker 3: I'm writing my speech. She said, he just mentioned journal
• 26:02
Speaker 3: your name, and I think your life may be in danger,
• 26:05
Speaker 3: you know. And she stayed there and she got into
• 26:08
Speaker 3: it with Jim Jordan and some of the others because
• 26:15
Speaker 3: she said, you all started all this, and you know
• 26:18
Speaker 3: who really orchestrated all of it, the lawsuit and everything. Well,
• 26:24
Speaker 3: the speaker now and he was not even known then.
• 26:28
Speaker 4: What's the name is Tim john Yeah.
• 26:31
Speaker 3: Speaker Johnson, the Republican speaker. He wasn't even known. His
• 26:38
Speaker 3: office was right next to Liz changed and they were friends.
• 26:43
Speaker 3: But he's the one that wrote the brief and to
• 26:47
Speaker 3: challenge the election, and now he's a speaker. And but
• 26:55
  Speaker 3: it's it's a bookworth well. I wouldn't think if you.
• 26:59
Speaker 6: Have read Mike Johnson, I said, town And I said, Tim,
• 27:02
  Speaker 6: Mike Johnson.
• 27:03
  Speaker 4: Sorry, Mike Johnson.
• 27:04
Speaker 6: Uh, Tex says you apparently have never suffered bone spurs.
• 27:08
Speaker 6: My husband has dealt with him for years and it
• 27:10
Speaker 6: pains him to wear shoes. Don't ridicule or mock that
• 27:12
  Speaker 6: that you personally.
• 27:13
Speaker 3: Well, let me just mention that about bone spurs. Then
• 27:16
Speaker 3: how how was he able to march in military school? Okay,
• 27:23
Speaker 3: ask asking the wrong person. He marched right down Pennsylvania
• 27:26
Speaker 3: Avenue in the militaria school. Trump did, so, may we
• 27:31
Speaker 3: have good days and bad days?
• 27:32
  Speaker 4: Like they say?
• 27:33
Speaker 6: No, and he and he certainly doesn't affect his golf
• 27:36
Speaker 6: game any because he plays golf every weekend. It's it's ridiculous, uh,
• 27:41
Speaker 6: Tex said, wondering how Cecil Roberts feels about Trump.
• 27:44
Speaker 4: Now, well, he probably feels the same way he did
• 27:46
Speaker 4: prior to the election.
• 27:46
  Speaker 3: He's never voted, He's I would I would suggest you
• 27:49
Speaker 3: that Cecil Roberts's probably never even voted for republic.
• 27:56
Speaker 6: Tex says, you all didn't vote for Donald Trump. But
• 27:58
Speaker 6: we have a two party system, so not Votvoting for
• 28:00
Speaker 6: one major party is essentially a vote for the other
• 28:02
Speaker 6: third party. Voters and non voters are just as complicit
• 28:05
Speaker 6: as Magas and Republicans in getting Trump elected.
• 28:07
  Speaker 3: That's not true.
• 28:09
Speaker 4: Why is it not true?
• 28:10
Speaker 3: It's a protest vote. I remember when little guy from
• 28:16
Speaker 3: Texas in ninety two, broh he kept Trump from He
• 28:20
Speaker 3: kept President Bushman being reelected. And in nineteen sixty eight
• 28:26
Speaker 3: George Wallace got ten million votes, which was thirteen percent,
• 28:31
Speaker 3: and that affected that election. It may have hurt Humphrey,
• 28:38
Speaker 3: It may have hurt Nixon. We don't know, but it
• 28:41
Speaker 3: effected ten million votes. If it's three percent of the votes,
• 28:45
Speaker 3: which wasn't it was three percent in two thy sixteen.
• 28:51
Speaker 3: If it's three percent, that's a three percent that can
• 28:54
Speaker 3: make a difference to somebody if they can capture you know,
• 28:57
Speaker 3: Trump went in front of the Libertarians try to get
• 29:00
Speaker 3: their vote, and he was not successful at all. Didn't
• 29:04
Speaker 3: go over very well.
• 29:05
Speaker 4: Well, Danny, before we let you go, important stuff. How's
• 29:07
  Speaker 4: the dog doing?
• 29:10
Speaker 3: Very exciting for an old man. I've got a new
• 29:13
Speaker 3: little Cavalier King Crow Spaniel. And we fell asleep on
• 29:18
Speaker 3: my couch before we came over here, before I came
• 29:21
Speaker 3: over here, right, all right, And it's quite a deal
• 29:25
Speaker 3: for a guy like me to have a little dog
• 29:27
  Speaker 3: like that.
• 29:29
Speaker 4: Always a pleasure to have you on the show, my friend.
• 29:31

Speaker 6: and me coming up at noon today powered by Solangold Law.
• 31:52
Speaker 6: We're gonna get into more news on the Niosh cuts
• 31:55
Speaker 6: and of course more were announced on Friday, night.
• 31:58
Speaker 4: We'll get into that. You hear a lot of time.
• 32:00
Speaker 6: It's about West Virginia American Water buying up smaller water
• 32:03
Speaker 6: companies that are badly in need of upgrades that those
• 32:06
  Speaker 6: companies can't afford.
• 32:07
Speaker 4: Well, one county said no.
• 32:08
Speaker 6: To West Virginia American Water. We'll get into that story. Plus,
• 32:12
Speaker 6: it's Mayor Monday, where I go around the state and
• 32:14
Speaker 6: talk to a different mayor. Mayor of Ravenswood, Josh Miller,
• 32:17
Speaker 6: will be in the spotlight of course open Line West
• 32:19
Speaker 6: Virginia Metro News Midday powered by Selango Law noon to
• 32:22
Speaker 6: three today and coming up on this show tomorrow. There's
• 32:24
Speaker 6: a new farmers market coming to South Charleston. We'll get
• 32:27
Speaker 6: into that coming up on tomorrows show. Let's welcome into
• 32:29
Speaker 6: the show now current Charleston Mayor Amy Schulder, Goodwin, how
• 32:32
  Speaker 6: you doing.
• 32:33
Speaker 16: Good morning. It was great listening to Mayor Jones.
• 32:35
Speaker 4: Thank you for being here. He's a he's a trip mbs.
• 32:40
Speaker 16: So much knowledge. He just has so much historical knowledge
• 32:43
Speaker 16: in his brain. I'm really fortunate that he still takes
• 32:47
Speaker 16: my calls and entertains my questions and he knows stuff.
• 32:52
Speaker 6: I mean, how much converse I'm just kind of curious
• 32:54
Speaker 6: how much conversations do you have with maybe Danny or
• 32:58
Speaker 6: any other former mayors living, you know, just to pick
• 33:01
Speaker 6: up the phone and say, hey, what do you think
• 33:03
  Speaker 6: I mean?
• 33:03
Speaker 4: Is that a thing that happens?
• 33:04
Speaker 16: Absolutely, it happens. And really I probably lean on Mayor
• 33:08
Speaker 16: Jones the most out of the mayors, although you know,
• 33:14
Speaker 16: I studied Jay Goldman, and you know Mayor Goldman, who
• 33:18
Speaker 16: has an incredible history here in the city of Charleston.
• 33:22
Speaker 16: And the thing that always impressed me about Mayor Goldman
• 33:26
Speaker 16: was his fiscal policies. I mean, he was really tough.
• 33:29
Speaker 16: He was really really tough, made a lot of really
• 33:31
Speaker 16: hard cuts, and quite frankly said that Mayor Jones, because
• 33:34
Speaker 16: sometimes that's just what you have to do. But you
• 33:37
Speaker 16: can't be mayor for sixteen years and not know the
• 33:40
Speaker 16: ins and outs, the ups and downs. And I leaned
• 33:44
Speaker 16: on him heavily and still do all the time. As
• 33:47
Speaker 16: a matter of fact, we're gonna get together later on
• 33:49
Speaker 16: this week to have coffee so I can pick at
• 33:51
Speaker 16: his brain on a couple other things. He's just he's
• 33:53
Speaker 16: really good. And you know, while we don't always agree
• 33:56
Speaker 16: one hundred percent, I consider him somebody that I appreciate
• 34:01
Speaker 16: his advice and counsel, and I consider him a friend.
• 34:03
Speaker 6: Now, so all right, we got got I know several
• 34:06
Speaker 6: things we want to talk about. This is your first
• 34:09
Speaker 6: this will be the last visit you had before the USA,
• 34:12
Speaker 6: say us. I always want to add additional a's to us. Ye,
• 34:15
Speaker 6: me tell the cycling event before it before it comes in.
• 34:17
Speaker 6: So we'll get to that coming up a little bit later.
• 34:19
Speaker 6: I do have a text here for you, though, is
• 34:20
Speaker 6: please ask the mayor when the Civic Center seats will
• 34:24
Speaker 6: be replaced. They've been terrible for years and an embarrassment.
• 34:28
Speaker 6: Need to take care of the facility you have for
• 34:30
Speaker 6: the people of Charleston.
• 34:32
Speaker 16: Yeah, absolutely, you know what it was approved. We had
• 34:34
Speaker 16: to go through council. I asked counsel to approve the
• 34:38
Speaker 16: purchase of new seats for the entire coliseum and convention center.
• 34:42
Speaker 16: Although the Jones administration did an amazing job upgrading the
• 34:47
Speaker 16: convention center side, Uh, it is our job now to
• 34:50
Speaker 16: do the coliseum side, and quite frankly, it's the it's
• 34:52
Speaker 16: the side that we use the most. And so those
• 34:55
Speaker 16: will be done by end of I believe summer beginning
• 35:00
Speaker 16: of fall of this year, because you have to block
• 35:02
Speaker 16: out a window of time and we have that blocked
• 35:05
Speaker 16: and so they look great. We saw other colisseums that
• 35:10
Speaker 16: have these style of seatings. I agree it is time.
• 35:14
Speaker 16: It is time, and they will be in this uh,
• 35:16
Speaker 16: they'll be in this year. And the cleaning of it too.
• 35:19
Speaker 16: By the way, when you take out these seats, Dave,
• 35:21
Speaker 16: you literally have to clean.
• 35:24
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 35:25
Speaker 16: So I saw a couple of the seats that were
• 35:27
Speaker 16: taking out, some of the roads that were taking out
• 35:29
Speaker 16: and you know, I'm pretty tough. I'm a mother of boys,
• 35:33
Speaker 16: but no, thank you. That's number one. But also, you
• 35:37
Speaker 16: know a lot of the pullout seats that we have,
• 35:40
Speaker 16: and we're selling out so many great so many great concerts,
• 35:44
Speaker 16: so many great events, those pullout seats are now they're obsolete.
• 35:49
Speaker 16: We can't find the parts for them, they get stuck,
• 35:51
Speaker 16: they break, and quite frankly, they're just not safe to
• 35:55
Speaker 16: keep continuing pulling them in and pulling them out, because
• 35:58
Speaker 16: one of these days we're not going to be to
• 36:01
Speaker 16: So thanks for the text and you'll be thrilled they're coming.
• 36:05

• 36:16

• 36:19
Speaker 6: what you don't know can't hurt you. Head to Kanawa
• 36:21
Speaker 6: County commission President Vinsolango on the show last week, Mayor
• 36:24
Speaker 6: and we talked about the pause, if you will of
• 36:28
Speaker 6: Capital Sports complaxts. Would you like to add more more
• 36:32
  Speaker 6: to that?
• 36:32
Speaker 16: Yeah? Sure. Commissioner Silango is an incredible, incredible partner. You know,
• 36:37
Speaker 16: this is the first city county partnership of a project
• 36:41
Speaker 16: like this. You know, we in the past have worked
• 36:44
Speaker 16: in silos in government. We're not going to And I'm
• 36:48
Speaker 16: just so thankful to have such a good relationship with
• 36:51
Speaker 16: not only Commissioner Selango, but Tenant and Wheeler as well.
• 36:55
Speaker 16: The city is one hundred percent committed to the sports center.
• 36:58
Speaker 16: And you know, when we announced this project, the sports
• 37:01
Speaker 16: tourism industry and travel tourism was a forty billion dollar industry.
• 37:06
Speaker 16: Now that number is over fifty two. We must do
• 37:10
Speaker 16: this project, you know, Senator Capito and Senator Mansion had
• 37:15
Speaker 16: so much confidence in this project. They twice put in
• 37:18
Speaker 16: congressionally disdirected spending on this project. And I feel confident
• 37:24
Speaker 16: that Senator Capito, if she can help us secure this grant,
• 37:29
Speaker 16: she absolutely will because she knows the numbers and she
• 37:32
Speaker 16: knows the value. I will say, there are a lot
• 37:34
Speaker 16: of things at play. For sure. I agree with Commissioner Selango.
• 37:39
Speaker 16: The cost of construction is through the roof. If anybody's
• 37:43
  Speaker 16: listening and you're building something, I don't care if it's
• 37:44
  Speaker 16: a house or a business or a Heck, if you're
• 37:48
Speaker 16: redoing the concrete in your driveway, Dave, it's just if
• 37:52
Speaker 16: you're buying trees for a park. It is just twice
• 37:55
Speaker 16: the cost of anything right now. So that is always,
• 37:58
Speaker 16: you know, top of mind and of tongue when we're
• 38:00
Speaker 16: talking about the sports complex. But the other thing that
• 38:03
Speaker 16: I will mention, and I talked about it in another
• 38:06
Speaker 16: news outlet a couple of weeks ago as well, is
• 38:09
Speaker 16: you know, there are some grand opportunities that might be
• 38:13
Speaker 16: forthcoming in and around that area. And that is insomuch
• 38:17
Speaker 16: to say that the sports center location, having it right
• 38:22
Speaker 16: there by the coliseum in Convention Center wasn't by accident.
• 38:25
Speaker 16: We've been studying this for a really long period of time.
• 38:28
Speaker 16: Do I think it's going to happen. Yes. Do I
• 38:31
Speaker 16: think in that area it's going to happen? Yes? Do
• 38:34
Speaker 16: I think it might look a little different in the future.
• 38:37
Speaker 16: You know, we were going up because we were limited
• 38:39
Speaker 16: on space. Again, if you're a builder, if you're in construction,
• 38:44
Speaker 16: it's a heck of a lot cheaper to go horizontally
• 38:48
Speaker 16: than it is vertically. And so that's something that we're
• 38:51
Speaker 16: going to be looking into in the future. And the
• 38:54
Speaker 16: next question you're going to say is what about them all?
• 38:56
Speaker 16: Are you talking about the mall? Well, maybe I will
• 38:59
Speaker 16: say that, you know, as I did a couple of
• 39:03
Speaker 16: weeks ago to you when I was on we have
• 39:06
Speaker 16: really good conversations with the Hall group moving forward and
• 39:11
Speaker 16: what does that And it's not just the mall, it's
• 39:14
Speaker 16: that entire area. If you look at TC Energy, if
• 39:17
Speaker 16: you look at PoCA Valley Bank, if you look at
• 39:19
Speaker 16: the hotel that's coming in, Yes, we need another hotel.
• 39:24
Speaker 16: That area is really ripe for development and expanded development.
• 39:29
Speaker 16: And I'll summarize my comments by just saying this, everybody
• 39:34
Speaker 16: wants things to happen quickly. Gosh, you whiz. I wish
• 39:37
Speaker 16: I had a magic wand in my back pocket. This
• 39:41
Speaker 16: is the largest thing that we will be doing it.
• 39:45
Speaker 16: It is huge. The development in and around that area
• 39:49
Speaker 16: is significant. So think about in nineteen you know, in
• 39:52
Speaker 16: the seventies and in the eighties when they started building
• 39:55
Speaker 16: and redeveloping this huge flat piece of land. Takes a
• 40:00
Speaker 16: while to make big things happen. But you know, back
• 40:04
Speaker 16: to back to our support with our federal our federal folks.
• 40:07
Speaker 16: I'll just say this. The reason why the Capital Connector
• 40:12
Speaker 16: and twenty five million, twenty six almost twenty seven million
• 40:15
Speaker 16: dollars we're going to change the face of the riverfront.
• 40:18
Speaker 16: That's because of our federal partners, by the way, too,
• 40:20
Speaker 16: So make no mistake about it. We've got great, great relationships.
• 40:24
Speaker 16: Yes they're ongoing projects, but great relationships with our federal partners.
• 40:28
Speaker 16: And you have to, by the way, you.
• 40:29
Speaker 6: Have to todave Valan showing five eighty line presented in

Speaker 16: I'm on Friday. We did the twentieth anniversary. Yeah, it
• 40:49
Speaker 16: was fun on Friday to be there.
• 40:51
Speaker 6: It was, and that that game got to it was
• 40:54
Speaker 6: rain delayed, storm delayed, Yeah for a while.
• 40:56
Speaker 4: But I understand. We have a call, So let's go
• 40:59
Speaker 4: and let's talk to our friend Jim. You're on the mayor.
• 41:03
Speaker 8: Hello, Mayor, how are you? Hi, Jim?
• 41:06
Speaker 16: I'm Jim. I'm wonderful. How you doing.
• 41:08
Speaker 8: I I'm doing okay. I just wanted to let you
• 41:11
Speaker 8: know that package that you sent me. I did not
• 41:16
Speaker 8: receive it. I don't know where went to China or
• 41:19
Speaker 8: where it went, but I was wondering if you could
• 41:25
Speaker 8: make it up again and hand deliverer because I would
• 41:30
Speaker 8: love to see you since I'm not going to be
• 41:33
Speaker 8: over to attend the lie on the levy or the regatta.
• 41:39
Speaker 16: Hey, Jim, I know that Andrew in my office has
• 41:41
Speaker 16: your number, and so we will circle back with you
• 41:45
Speaker 16: by clothes of business today and make arrangements for that.
• 41:51
  Speaker 8: Oh, thank you.
• 41:52
Speaker 16: Yes, sir Jim, we appreciate you, looking forward to seeing you, glad.
• 41:55
Speaker 4: Jim. I'm sorry, glhead Jim.
• 42:00
Speaker 8: Okay. I've been in touch with Commissier slang gu by
• 42:05
Speaker 8: Facebook and things like that, and I've been suggesting some
• 42:11
Speaker 8: companies to check with around the valley on the seven
• 42:17
Speaker 8: million dollars guests as sets. I think all the banks
• 42:21
Speaker 8: should get together and contribute a few dollars so kids
• 42:29
Speaker 8: can have some place to go.
• 42:31
Speaker 6: All right, Jim, we appreciate your phone call. Appreciate your
• 42:34
Speaker 6: phone call. Before we go to break, somebody ask about
• 42:37
  Speaker 6: the auditorium.
• 42:38
Speaker 4: What can tell us about the minisipella?
• 42:39
Speaker 16: Thank you so much. Yeah, you probably saw some forklifts
• 42:43
Speaker 16: scissor lifts that were down surrounding the Municipal Auditorium. I
• 42:49
Speaker 16: ask counsel months ago to give me some funding to
• 42:53
Speaker 16: do an assessment of the structure of the Municipal Auditorium,
• 42:56
Speaker 16: especially that front facade part Dave and were working in
• 43:01
Speaker 16: town all of last week to do that assessment on
• 43:04
Speaker 16: the structural integrity of that and so hopefully soon we'll
• 43:08
Speaker 16: have a report because here's the thing we have to
• 43:12
Speaker 16: have because a lot of folks kepas me why you know.
• 43:15
Speaker 16: We have the Coliseum, you have the Clay Center. It's
• 43:17
Speaker 16: a totally different beast. You and I've talked about it
• 43:19
Speaker 16: at nauseum. I need that thirty eight hundred. I need that.
• 43:23
Speaker 16: I need that venue that will hold that many people.
• 43:27
Speaker 16: Even in its crumbling days, we were pulling in ax
• 43:32
Speaker 16: and we could we could fill it. We could fill
• 43:34
Speaker 16: that space, but it has to be reimagined and it
• 43:39
Speaker 16: has to be a venue in which by the way,
• 43:42
  Speaker 16: artists want.
• 43:42

Speaker 16: It's going to be absolutely incredible. And first starting with

Speaker 16: you know, USA Cycling is just around the corner and
• 46:46
Speaker 16: we are all hands on deck trying to get it
• 46:48
Speaker 16: figured out. You know, we didn't. I'll be honest, and
• 46:52
Speaker 16: I know I've told you this before. When we went
• 46:54
Speaker 16: out to bid on this. You know, I watched the videos.
• 46:57
Speaker 16: I saw the other big cities across the country it hosted,
• 47:00
Speaker 16: and I just thought, Oh, this will be so exciting,
• 47:03
Speaker 16: how fun this will be. I didn't get it. I
• 47:06
Speaker 16: didn't get how powerful it was. I didn't get how
• 47:09
Speaker 16: much enthusiasm, momentum, the return on investment that we saw.
• 47:14
Speaker 16: For that. It starts May nineteenth and runs through the
• 47:18
Speaker 16: twenty six It is. You know, we bring in the
• 47:21
Speaker 16: nation's top cyclists, they ride through our streets. It is
• 47:24
Speaker 16: so thrilling. As I told somebody over the weekend who said, gosh,
• 47:29
Speaker 16: you whiz, what was really exciting is to watch that
• 47:31
Speaker 16: pace car, that professional driver, you know, get ahead of
• 47:35
Speaker 16: the cycklast And I said, it was very exciting. I
• 47:38
Speaker 16: rode in the pace car one time, and that will
• 47:41
Speaker 16: be the last time I ever ride in a professional
• 47:44
Speaker 16: race car with a driver, because it was the scariest
• 47:48
Speaker 16: experience of my life. I'm a driving miss Davy, you know,
• 47:53
Speaker 16: a ten and two steering wheel all the way up.
• 47:56
Speaker 16: But it's absolutely incredible. Folks are folks of planning vacations
• 48:01
Speaker 16: around it. And we're so fortunate to have Spilman Law
• 48:07
Speaker 16: be a title sponsor of this event. Obviously, the CVB
• 48:10
Speaker 16: does an amazing job. CHARLESTONWV dot com CHARLESTONWV dot com,
• 48:15
Speaker 16: it'll give you all the details I actually left for
• 48:17
Speaker 16: you out front. We have a twenty twenty five spectator guide,
• 48:21
Speaker 16: so if you are your business or your family or friends. Actually,
• 48:24
Speaker 16: somebody had texted me and said, hey, I'm getting married
• 48:28
Speaker 16: in that weekend. Do you think I could have a
• 48:30
Speaker 16: couple of these to put in our little like, you know, bridesmaids,
• 48:34
Speaker 16: groomsmen baskets, because we want to we want to make
• 48:38
Speaker 16: sure that folks participate. But it is you know, we're
• 48:41
Speaker 16: turning the we're you know, well, we're keeping an eye
• 48:44
Speaker 16: to the sky, but we also keep it to the road.
• 48:46
Speaker 16: There are a lot of paving projects going on. This
• 48:49
Speaker 16: was something that when they came in and we did
• 48:52
Speaker 16: on this, they said the if you remember last year,
• 48:55
Speaker 16: I know I talked about this. They said, your roads
• 48:57
Speaker 16: are great and I said, we have, but we've got
• 48:58
Speaker 16: some touch up. What roads do you want us to pave?
• 49:00
Speaker 16: And they're like, yeah, we don't really have any. This year,
• 49:02
Speaker 16: we have some for sure. There's some construction going on
• 49:06
Speaker 16: in downtown Charleston. So we are on you know, high
• 49:09
Speaker 16: alert to make sure that those projects get done. Everything
• 49:12
Speaker 16: is smoothed out because it makes a difference for not
• 49:15
Speaker 16: only our riders but our driver's Dave. Mother Nature has
• 49:20
Speaker 16: been just horrific. This is probably the worst year been
• 49:24
Speaker 16: mayor six years, going on seven years. This is the
• 49:26
Speaker 16: worst Mother Nature has treated us during winter season. So
• 49:31
Speaker 16: a lot of potholes, a lot of patching, a lot
• 49:33
Speaker 16: of paving projects which are already underway, and so you'll
• 49:37
Speaker 16: see us out there as well, pave in your streets
• 49:40
Speaker 16: because We've kept our paving budget at an elevated level
• 49:44
Speaker 16: because we need to.
• 49:46
Speaker 6: There's a paving project actually going on today. I took
• 49:48
Speaker 6: a couple of notes on it. It's available on the
• 49:50
Speaker 6: city's Facebook page. Eastbound lanes of Knaw Boulevard Clendenon to
• 49:55
Speaker 6: Court Street closed till one thirty today because you get
• 49:58
Speaker 6: a project going on.
• 49:59
Speaker 16: There lots of projects. So you know, as we always say,
• 50:03
Speaker 16: and I appreciate the patience of many, if you're delayed,
• 50:07
Speaker 16: it's just because we're trying to fix stuff, things that
• 50:10
Speaker 16: you have asked us to do, and so we're going
• 50:12
Speaker 16: to continue to do it. There's lots of good things
• 50:14
Speaker 16: going on, and not least of which we're going to
• 50:16
Speaker 16: have a Live on the Levee announcement this week. I
• 50:19
Speaker 16: know Multifest is going to have an announcement this week.
• 50:21
Speaker 16: We've got Regatta coming up, We've got festival coming up.
• 50:25
Speaker 16: So the city, as we say, in the months of
• 50:28
Speaker 16: April and beginning of May, we start stretching now a
• 50:31
Speaker 16: lot and training because it is an incredible season here
• 50:35
Speaker 16: in the City of Charlestown.
• 50:37
Speaker 4: Live on the Levee is gonna look a little bit
• 50:38
  Speaker 4: different this year.
• 50:39
Speaker 16: It's gonna look a little bit different. And here's why,
• 50:41
Speaker 16: because we have something every single weekend, and not just small, small,
• 50:47
Speaker 16: little events. We have ginormous events. And we're listening to
• 50:50
Speaker 16: our vendors. In the month of August, now, we saw
• 50:53
Speaker 16: our Live on the Levee attendance go down, and it's
• 50:58
Speaker 16: for the reason that kids are going back to school
• 51:00
Speaker 16: earlier and Mother Nature has turned up the heat on us,
• 51:04
Speaker 16: you know, ninety five degrees, Dave, I have very few
• 51:07
Speaker 16: people coming out. And what the vendors were telling us
• 51:09
Speaker 16: is we're killing it in May, June and July, and
• 51:13
Speaker 16: in August not so much. We need to be flexible.
• 51:16
Speaker 16: While we love to have Live on the Levee, Live
• 51:19
Speaker 16: on the Levee will always be in the city of Charleston.
• 51:21
Speaker 16: It may look a little bit different as we move forward,
• 51:24
Speaker 16: but there is something going on, some type of entertainment
• 51:27
  Speaker 16: every weekend.
• 51:28
Speaker 6: Charleston Maror Amy Schulder a good one. I appreciate you
• 51:30

• 51:39
