- 0:00Ms suns Hi. Welcome to book watchers. I'm your sexic host Devin and
- 0:52today, of course we have the one, the only what Yeah and yeah
- 0:59it's today. I'm here to your host with the most maybe not all the
- 1:03time, that's good. My name is Jacob, and I roast the funk
- 1:07out of Devin for his dislection. Yeah, yeah, you did. I
- 1:11remember that group chat. I was so upset. I was like this,
- 1:14mother, dare they because y'all are on the borderline of furry doom and y'all
- 1:21going to roast I think. See that's the thing about that's the thing about
- 1:26those who walk the lint, the fine line between furry and other kinks is
- 1:30that, uh, you come for us and we're gonna roast you, and
- 1:36we did. Everyone's honestly, if you're not on the fine line, are
- 1:41you really living their life as as as a gay maybe? Who knows anyway,
- 1:53So yeah, moving from here to air out. Yeah, but we
- 1:57didn't come. We're not here today to air out the dirty laundry. I
- 2:01mean, if this, this book series that we're doing is not a prime
- 2:05example of somebody you know, Hey, I like were wolves, romance novels.
- 2:15Okay, this is in the first romance series i've ready and in fact,
- 2:23like I've taken to actually reading outside of the typical genre that I read,
- 2:29which is usually either high fantasy or science fiction. Mm hmmm, so
- 2:36we're still in like the nonfiction arm Sorry, we're still in the fiction excuse
- 2:39me. Yeah, Like we're still in the fiction genre, but now it's
- 2:42more romance, which good romance is good every so often. True. But
- 2:49when I think about it, the Green Creek books aren't so much romance but
- 2:53more of the love story really because it's not just focused on the Okaye it
- 2:58is. There's like the couple. It goes from the couple getting together in
- 3:05the but there's a lot more dynamic. It's not on it's not all one
- 3:13focus on that like there they have their own prials and tribulations and all that.
- 3:19Ship. Yeah, and it does tend to like, uh, each
- 3:24book tends to take on, like take over a good period of time.
- 3:34So like, uh, the book we're gonna be covering today is book two
- 3:40of the Green Creek series. But before we do, in a description below,
- 3:49of course, we'll take you to the links to the YouTube channel one
- 3:52follow us on YouTube or if you listen to On on any other podcasting site.
- 3:58Please rate and followize are great, follow, subscribe, whatever it may
- 4:02be. Read the word, we need it. We have fun here continue
- 4:11Now we can talk talk about the second book of this series. Yeah,
- 4:17yeah, so yeah, so, thank you for throwing me off, Devin
- 4:23and causing me to lose my train of thought. Oh you're welcome, sou
- 4:30So. As we covered in the first book, Wolf's Song was centered around
- 4:40the young couple of Joe Bennett and ox nerd Matheson. Yeah, we're still
- 4:46going to be seeing these characters. In fact, well they're still a big
- 4:49part of the story and the next and not only in this book, for
- 4:53the next two books after this, because the story is still centered around the
- 5:00Bennett pat uh. But this time Ravens Song is focused on the relationship and
- 5:08life story of the which Gordo Livingstone are a Livingstone? Sorry? And Mark
- 5:16Bennett. Mark Bennett is uh, he was. He is the brother of
- 5:23Thomas Bennett. Thomas Bennett Joe Bennett's uncle. And uh, I'm sorry,
- 5:35let me rewind. I threw myself, I threw myself off here rewindd Okay.
- 5:40So Mark Bennett is the younger brother of Joe Bennett's father, Thomas Bennett.
- 5:46He was the original. He was the alpha's second before Thomas died in
- 5:53the previous book. Now he's just a regular beta. His his nephew Joe
- 5:58has taken over leading ship of the Bennett Packed alongside uh Ox. So,
- 6:04as just I mentioned in the last book, Ox had become a ah,
- 6:11he had become a human alpha, so instead of of so. Typically,
- 6:17werewolf can only becomes an alpha if they kill another alpha or if that power
- 6:23is transferred to them, but Ox was very special. He developed. He
- 6:28became an alpha when Joe and his brothers left to chase down Richard Collins,
- 6:35and he kept the what remained of their pack together and he even made it
- 6:41bigger by taking in more people. And at the at the end of the
- 6:46of the first book, Ox was more was gravely injured by Richard Collins,
- 6:51and Joe, in desperation, bit him and turned him into a werewolf.
- 6:57Now, when he became a werewolf, Ox is still an alpha, but
- 7:00now he is an alpha werewolf and the same goes with Joe. So now
- 7:04the Bennett Packed has become even more I keep saying pat as in like I
- 7:12should, I'm trying to pack instead of pack. I keep saying Pat,
- 7:16so replaces tea with a K. Yeah, I know, I know English,
- 7:24Am I right? Huh? And so Ox and Joe now lead the
- 7:30Bennett Benet pack together, uh, and which makes them their whole family so
- 7:35much more abnormal to the rest of the were wolf community because there's usually only
- 7:42one alpha per pack, and now that the Bennett pack has two alphas,
- 7:49it's just very strange and unusual, and it's causing them to experience a lot
- 7:55of scrutiny. So now we have to Now we have to deal with things
- 8:07like betrayal, scrutiny and the very complicated, the very complicated relationship between Mark
- 8:16and Gordo. So, without further ado, let's go ahead and talk more
- 8:22about the story. So the story is, it is written from the perspective
- 8:28of Gordo Livingstone. Like I said, he's a witch, and he at
- 8:33one point used to be the witch for the Bennett Pack. However about fifteen
- 8:41years ago, or like however when he was just a young kid. So
- 8:48I'm gonna rewind because I know this. I'm gonna go ahead and take a
- 8:52step back because I am getting ahead of myself and jumbling up. I need
- 8:56to do better. Notes. So, when Gordo was just about twelve years
- 9:05old, him and his family, his dad and his mom, used to
- 9:09be a part of the Bennett Pack, who at the time was under the
- 9:13leadership of Joe's grandfather, Abel Bennett. There was a lot of there was
- 9:22a lot of problems that happened back in the day, and it really all
- 9:26began with Gordo's father, the former witch of the Bennett Pack, Robert Livingstone
- 9:39now Robert his personality before shit happens can be described as he was definitely very
- 9:50He had a very high opinion of himself, while the wolves saw him and
- 9:56his family as part of them, and they and the wolves believe that the
- 10:03Bennett which the the living Stone Witches, needed the Bennett Packed as much as
- 10:09the Bennett Pack needed the living Stone Witches. Uh. His father believed otherwise,
- 10:20that the witches that witches don't need wolves, the wolves just the wolves
- 10:22are the ones that need them. And he he always even back then,
- 10:30he was constantly trying to teach Gordo not to like fall for there for any
- 10:37illusions of the War of the were Wolves. And we also see this strange
- 10:46dynamic between uh his mother and his father. His mother was a human and
- 10:54it was heavily implied that Robert was manipulating her. Now it wasn't, It
- 11:03wasn't very clear towards the beginning. Towards the beginning, but later on,
- 11:09as he recalls his early life, he begins to recognize the signs that his
- 11:15mother was being manipulated somehow, that his dad was using his magic to manipulate
- 11:20and screw around with his mom's memory. And it didn't help that, despite
- 11:28the fact that he's married, Robert ended up having an affair with another human
- 11:37woman, and this caused a lot more problems because as I mentioned in the
- 11:43previous with the previous book, which isn't where wolves need something to help anchor
- 11:48them and help them to remember who they are as humans, to keep a
- 11:56hold of their humanity. Now, with werewolves, it's their pack. Their
- 12:00pack is what holds them together and what's and what helps them remember their humanity.
- 12:05But for witches it's a little bit more complicated. Now. Of course,
- 12:09their tether, their emotional tether, can be a can also be a
- 12:15can also be a pack if if of the witch is a part of a
- 12:16pack, but it can also be just another regular person. For Gordo,
- 12:22he formed a tether with Ox in the first book It's good, excuse me,
- 12:31and that tether is still there even throughout throughout the Road the remainder of
- 12:37the books. For Gordo's father, Robert had formed a tether with his mistress
- 12:46and yep. So the thing is, though he wasn't honest about it,
- 12:50he kept he kept his secrets. He lied to Gordo's mother. And the
- 12:56thing is, Gordo's mom began to become very paranoid and very There were some
- 13:01there were like there was clear signs that she was beginning to suffer from mental
- 13:09disabilities like PTSD and other I would say, like, uh, I don't
- 13:18want to say like paranoia induced schizophrenia, but like I'm not a mental expert,
- 13:22but if you're, if you're an if you are a psychologist or someone
- 13:26who's an expert in mental disorders, if you read the if you read this
- 13:30book and you look at how he remembers his mom and how how Gordu's mom
- 13:35would behave, you would probably be able to like clearly see that, like
- 13:39she's clearly being manipulated and she on some level knows this and it's starting to
- 13:45it's causing severe forms of like paranoia, so much to the point that she
- 13:50begins to uh try to teach her son that not that he shouldn't trust magic
- 13:56or wearls at all and don't let and don't let them manipulate him in any
- 14:01way. It escalated to the point where she tried to kidnap is a strong
- 14:09word, but that's pretty much the only word I can use at this point.
- 14:11Because she tricks Gordo into leaving with her. It was not so much
- 14:20as tricks. She just tells him, hey, grdo come with me.
- 14:22We need to go somewhere real quick, and then she tries to flee the
- 14:26town with him, but she ends up getting caught. Just before they leave
- 14:33the town. The Bennett pack and his dad and Gordo's father all suspected something
- 14:43was off, and they stopped her, and it was a very convoluted mess.
- 14:48The wolves were clearly the wolves weren't at fault here per se, because
- 14:52they were just trying to protect Gordo. They see him as part of their
- 14:56family and they can clearly tell that his mom is not well, but Robert
- 15:01is clearly manipulating her because not long After this, when uh they go back
- 15:07their lives return they go back to their lives, Gordo notices that his mom
- 15:11is acting differently, and it's almost as if she can't really remember what's been
- 15:16going on. But eventually, around the time Gordo is about twelve years old,
- 15:26his mom finds out about Robert's affair and because of everything that has been
- 15:41done to her and her paranoia, all all of it, she just snapped
- 15:46and she ends up murdering the mistress who yep, And because of this,
- 15:56Robert, having lost his emotional heather, he himself snaps. Because emotional te
- 16:07tether is what anchors, what is what will anchor a witch to their humanity.
- 16:12It helps them to remember who they are. And when that's taken away
- 16:18from you, it's like losing a part, It's like losing a limb.
- 16:22They're that deeply connected. And you can imagine how this affected Robert, because
- 16:30Robert snaps and in a fit of rage, he not only murders Gordo's mother,
- 16:37but his magic. With his magic, he also levels an entire city
- 16:44block, killing over a dozen people. Jesus Christ. Yeah, And while
- 16:49of course the media and like local authorities ruled it just rolled it as a
- 16:55gasmin explosion. The Bennet Pack knew was something else entirely, so with the
- 17:03help of witches from all around, they end up arresting Robert and the other
- 17:11witches strip him of his magic and they lock him away in a prison where
- 17:15you can where we can't hurt anybody else ever again. Now the problem is
- 17:19the here's where I think this is. This is where I think the the
- 17:25Bennett Pack, the Bennett Pack is the kind of the assholes about this is.
- 17:32They kept Gordo in the dark about it. At first, they didn't
- 17:36tell him right away, but then Abel Joe's grandfather goes approaches Gordo and tells
- 17:45him what happens and tells him that from now on he will be taking on
- 17:49the role of the pack witch. And of course he will be living with
- 17:57the Bennetts and their home and he's still a part of their family and they
- 18:03do take really good care of him. But it's kind of fucked up because
- 18:07he's now he's a twelve year old boy best the shoulder the burden of being
- 18:15responsible for an entire pack, and then while he doesn't lead them, he
- 18:18like being a witch for a pack it has a lot of responsibilities, and
- 18:23that's a lot of responsibility to put on a twelve year old shoulder. So
- 18:30we can start seeing where Gordo's resentment begins to form because they take him in,
- 18:38they give him so much responsibility, and all he wants to do is
- 18:41he wants to prove that he can do it, that he's useful, that
- 18:47he is, that he actually has value to the pack, and of course
- 18:51they don't doubt it. No one ever questions that. Gordo also begins to
- 18:56form a relationship with Abele's son, Mark, Mark recognizes early on that Gordo
- 19:08is his mate, and the thing is he's about So the thing about Gordo
- 19:17and Mark is that, yeah, they're not the same age. Mark is
- 19:21actually about two years older than Gordo, which is honestly way better than the
- 19:26age gap between Joe and Mark. But by the time they're fifteen, By
- 19:33the time Gordo is fifteen and Mark is about seventeen, Gordo starts to realize
- 19:41that they have they have something between them, and they begin to explore the
- 19:48relationship, more or less tentatively, because Gordo himself he doesn't really know if
- 19:55that's what he wants, but Mark tries to be patient, and of course
- 20:03he makes a he makes a promise to Gordo and he gives Gordo his stone
- 20:07Wolf. Now, if you remember from the last from the previous episode with
- 20:11Wolf's Song, when a where wolf is born, there Alpha will have a
- 20:18stone wolf carved, carved for that newborn werewolf. And this little wolf totem
- 20:27is is very special because it is meant to be given as a gift to
- 20:33your future mate. And Joe gave Ox his little stone wolf when he was
- 20:40just ten years old, and Mark gave Gordo his wolf. So it's like
- 20:47a it's like a it's almost like a like it's a kind of like a
- 20:49proposal, but not a proposal, just more of like a a promise,
- 20:56like an oath, like you're the one, like you're the like you're the
- 20:59one, and promise yeah exactly. And of course, like Gordo accepts it,
- 21:06and the and we start to see like the early like we see like
- 21:15the relationship as it was from an early age h Gordo. While Gordo does
- 21:22love he at one point did love the Bennett Pack. He still wanted some
- 21:26sense of normalcy and he sought that not only in his human friends, who
- 21:30are characters that we do see that who are regular characters throughout the entire series.
- 21:34These three goofballs named Chris, Tanner, and Rico, and those guys,
- 21:41along with Gordo, have been friends their most of their lives. And
- 21:47we also see Gordo began his career as a mechanic as well, so aside
- 21:53from being the pack, which he also seeks like a normal job. And
- 21:56he gets a job at this at this shop which would later become his own
- 22:04shop because the previous owner actually leaves it to him later. But we'll get
- 22:10to that, you know. Even though things were quiet for a few years,
- 22:18tragedy does strike the Bennett Pack again when a group of hunters attack their
- 22:27home. Now, back in the day, the Bennett Pack was a lot
- 22:33larger. It wasn't just this one family of werewolves. It was several different
- 22:37families of werewolves, you know, brothers, cousins, nephews, aunts,
- 22:44and uncles. It was a lot bigger. And the thing is is that
- 22:48just like there are families of witches, and like large and powerful families of
- 22:55witches and werewolves, there are large and powerful families of hunters. As well,
- 23:00who make it their life mission to hunt down any form of supernatural creatures
- 23:06werewolf which what have you? And this one particular family, because this one
- 23:14particular family of hunters, they are known as the King Family. They have
- 23:22they have clashed with the Bennett pack for generations and they end up launching launching
- 23:29a surprise attack against the Bennett family during a full moon, and when it
- 23:34happens, they sent one of their own, the daughter of the Patriarcho Girl
- 23:42named Meredith King. She ends up luring Gordo away from the pack because even
- 23:52though he's only fifteen years old, he's still a witch and he's still very
- 23:56powerful. So she ends up luring him away from the pack and she ends
- 24:03up injecting him with a sedative, knocking his ass out. While he was
- 24:07out, the King the Hunter Clan attacks the pack and kills a huge portion
- 24:14of them, so uh, most of the families of most of the werewolf
- 24:22individual world families were killed off. The previous able Bennett, the former Alpha,
- 24:32was killed and when he was killed, his title of Alpha gets passed
- 24:36on to his oldest son, Thomas Bennett, who is Joe's father, Ah
- 24:44Thomas, even though he's still very young. He has already had his first
- 24:48son, Carter Bennett, and was on his way to having his his second
- 24:53son, Kelly. But this is still well before Joe Bennett is born.
- 25:00Really, it's just all that was left of the Bennett Pack after this attack
- 25:06was Thomas himself, his mate Elizabeth, his son Carter, and his uncle
- 25:12and his brother I'm sorry, not uncle, his brother Mark. That was
- 25:17all that was left with the Bennett pack after the attack, and of course
- 25:22Gordo after After the attack, the Ben Pack did manage to slaughter and kill
- 25:30most of the King of the King hunters. Uh. Really, the only
- 25:34survivor of the on the Hunter side was Meredith herself. Now remember that name.
- 25:41Who she's gonna be. She's gonna be a problem. She's not dead.
- 25:48But after the attack, uh where old? Uh? Where? Olves
- 25:56from other packs began to put pressure on Thomas and what's left of his family.
- 26:02Because the Bennett Pack is known for being are known as royalty among werewolves
- 26:11in America because their alpha is also the alpha of alphas, so they are
- 26:18in charge of every pack of pack. So Abel Bennett was the former Alpha
- 26:26of Alphas. He was in charge of all the packs, all over the
- 26:30US like a king, and when he died, that title got passed down
- 26:34to Thomas. And the thing is is that despite the fact that Green Creek
- 26:41is the Bennett family's ancestral home that's been their territory for hundreds of years,
- 26:48there is another territory on the other side of the country in Coswell, Maine.
- 26:59That one that territory is considered like. It's basically like the district district
- 27:06of Columbia of the werewolf community, so that's like their capital. And while
- 27:14the Bennett family usually spends their time going back and forth between Caswell and green
- 27:18Creek, the other wolves across the nation put pressure on Thomas to completely relocate
- 27:25back to Caswell because Caswell is more heavily defended, it's more secure, and
- 27:30there's little to no humans there, so there's less chance of there being another
- 27:36hunter attack if they were there, and Thomas he's reluctant to leave his family
- 27:42home, but he does end up giving into the pressure and decides to move
- 27:48his entire pack back across the states to Maine. There is one there was
- 27:53one problem that he couldn't overcome, and that was the mistrue us that the
- 28:00other were wolves had in his in his witch Gordo Livingstone m h. Now,
- 28:07so the reason why the other packs didn't trust Gordo was, first of
- 28:14all, he's still technically human. Witches are still technically human, and after
- 28:19this attack by the Hunters, mistrust and bigotry were very was very high,
- 28:29so they didn't want to trust a human in Coswell, even though they do
- 28:33have witches there. But really what really put the final nail in the coffin
- 28:41was the fact that Gordo is still is the son of a dart of Robert
- 28:48Livingstone, and because Robert lost his mind and went dark, the other wolves
- 28:57were concerned that maybe Robert had more of a hold on Gordo than they realized.
- 29:08And the reason why they believed that is not only because since Gordo is
- 29:12his father's son. It also comes down to the fact that Gordo's magic is
- 29:17tied to his father because when he was just a little kid we're talking about
- 29:23We're talking like from the time he was six to the time he was about
- 29:26ten or twelve, his dad had been tattooing these magical sigils and other tattoos
- 29:36onto Gordo's body. These tattoos act as a form of arcane focus for Gordo
- 29:41to help him to not only increase his magical potential, but also to help
- 29:45him focus his power. And the other werewolves believed that that Robert still had
- 29:55some form of hold over his son through those tat twos, so they didn't
- 30:02want to risk bringing Gordo to their capital if say, his dad somehow breaks
- 30:08free and uses his own and uses Gordo as like some form of weapon.
- 30:14So Thomas made as like this was probably his biggest mistake, and it was
- 30:22probably his first mistake he made as an Alpha. He made the decision to
- 30:27leave Gordo behind in Green Creek. And you have to remember Gordo was only
- 30:34fifteen years old when this happened. He has no one else, no other
- 30:41living relatives. His mother and father are dead, and the only people that
- 30:45he knows as his family are the Bennett Pack. So imagine, what do
- 30:52you think is going how do you think a fifteen year old who a fifteen
- 30:56year old orphan is going to feel when the only family he knows practically abandons
- 31:03him. Very upset, I mean kind of like he's just alone in this
- 31:08world exactly now, of course, so Thomas tries to appeal like tries to
- 31:15appease Gordo by telling him he's gonna be left in good hands. He talked
- 31:22to one of the locals of the of Green Creek to take him in,
- 31:26and he assures him that Geordo will always be a part of the Bennett pack.
- 31:30But because of how uh, because of how unstable things are right now,
- 31:37it's better and safer for Grdo to stay behind in Green Creek. And
- 31:41I can see the logic behind that, you know, from a from an
- 31:48objective standpoint, I can see the logic behind that, and I can see
- 31:51that Thomas was just trying to protect Gordo. Yeah, at the same time,
- 31:56he should have He shouldn't have made that decision. He should have either
- 32:00put his foot down and taken Grido with him and face whatever the future has
- 32:05to offer, or he should have found some other solution because for starters,
- 32:13his own brother Mark was completely opposed to this. Gordo is his this is
- 32:19his future, is his mate. But the problem, the problem is is
- 32:22that since Mark is a beta, he can't really disobey the decision of his
- 32:28alpha, which also which also earns him the Oh god, what is it?
- 32:37What's the word? It's a starts with a word. What are you
- 32:44trying to right? No, no, no, I'm sorry. There's a
- 32:49word I'm looking for and it's something tip of my tongue. Well basically,
- 32:54So, the thing is is that when the Bennett pack decides to leave,
- 33:00Mark decides he decides to go with his family because since he is his brother's
- 33:09second in command, he can't really just leave. He can't really just stay
- 33:14behind, even though he really wants to because he loves Gordo, he wants
- 33:17to be with him, but he can't leave. He can't he can't leave
- 33:22his pack. And the thing is, even though like sure, if he
- 33:29and Gordo had become bound to each other a lot sooner, if he stayed
- 33:36behind and bound himself to Gordo, he would be able to retain his humanity
- 33:40for the most part. But the thing is when a a wolf is when
- 33:46a werewolf is separated from their pack, they run. They run the risk
- 33:50of becoming omegas and omegas or feral. They've pretty much forgotten what it means
- 33:55to be a human and ambitious. So that was the biggest risk Mark faced
- 34:02if he stayed behind with Gordo, and I can like I said, I
- 34:07can also see his point, like, if he stayed behind, sure he's
- 34:10gonna be with Gordo, and maybe that would be enough to help him,
- 34:15like keep his humanity and not lose his mind to his wolf. But at
- 34:20the same time, there's the risk that what if he what if he just
- 34:22one day snaps and he could end up hurting the one person he cares about
- 34:28most in the world. But of course, teenage Corrido didn't see it that
- 34:32way. He just saw it as his family abandoning him. So after the
- 34:37Bennett pack leaves, they they they don't. They very irregularly stay in contact
- 34:46with him, coming back here and like Mark would come back here and there,
- 34:50maybe like every six months or so to check up on Gordo to make
- 34:53sure he's okay and make sure that Green Creek and their territory is you know,
- 34:59safe and sound. But over time, Gordo his resentment for the Bennetts
- 35:06grows to the point where he completely cuts ties with them. And because since
- 35:14now that Gordo is getting older and his caretaker passes away, he's now completely
- 35:21on his own. And although the person who took Gordo in left him his
- 35:27old house as well as the shop that Gordo that he owned. So that's
- 35:35how Gordo comes into ownership of the of the auto body shop and which would
- 35:42later which becomes like a big part of the story later on because Gordo's shop
- 35:46is like a place where the wolves a lot of the pack ends up working
- 35:52working in and this is how he comes to become this is how he becomes
- 35:55the owner of it. But not long after this, since he's on his
- 36:01own, he's also exploring different relationships outside of Mark. And it's after one
- 36:08one such uh one night stands h for lack of for it's pretty much what
- 36:16it was. Gordo basically tries to lose himself in like pointless relationships and one
- 36:22night stands. It's after one such nightly outing that Mark comes back to town
- 36:30and he comes to Gordo's house and sees and finds Gordo like, you know,
- 36:37basically like morning walk of shame, you know what I mean, next
- 36:43morning walk of shame and being a werewolf, he can smell everything that Gordo
- 36:46had just did. So for poor Mark, he's like he feels betrayed by
- 36:52this, and he also low key wants to murder the ship out of the
- 36:57person Gordo just slept with, but To shuts that ship down and tells him
- 37:04that, hey, you're gone. You guys left me here all right,
- 37:09and honestly, I don't care. I don't care whether or not you guys
- 37:13ever come back. Who you guys clearly don't care enough about me to didn't
- 37:20care enough about me to take you with me, to take me with you,
- 37:22and he left me all alone here. So I'm gonna live my life
- 37:27and if you want you can come. You can just come back. You
- 37:30can come here, because if you want a future with me, then stay
- 37:34here with me, be with me. We're supposed to be mates, right
- 37:39then, why not just stay with me? But like I said before,
- 37:44Mark faces the difficult the he's pretty much stuck with between a rock and a
- 37:50hard place because he's caught between what his heart wants and what his and what
- 37:55he has to no choice but to do. You know, it comes down
- 38:00to his family, his alpha and then his and his true love, right
- 38:09and unfortunately he still ends up choosing his pack and he tries to explain to
- 38:21to Gordo that he can't just leave them behind. He can't just leave you
- 38:24know, there is aside from abandoning his own family, there still runs the
- 38:29risk of him becoming an omega if he just if he leaves his pack,
- 38:34and well, Gordo doesn't like his answer, and in his anger, Gordo
- 38:46gives Mark his wolf back, the Little Stone Wolf, which is basically like
- 38:57giving the ring back Oo. And of course Mark is heartbroken by this and
- 39:07tries to plead with Gordo please, like, we don't end it like this,
- 39:12but Gordo's like, nope, fuck you guys, I want nothing to
- 39:15do with you anymore. And that's pretty much the last time Gordo has any
- 39:21kind of contact with the Bennett Pack. He sees them from time to time
- 39:25when they return to when he'll see Mark from time to time when he stops
- 39:30by Green Creek to check up on things, but he's made it very clear
- 39:36he doesn't want anything to do with them. And at this point we fast
- 39:40if we of course fast forward to the events of of Wolf's Song, And
- 39:49while Wolf's Song was from the perspective of Box, we didn't exactly we didn't
- 39:52get to see any like what exactly happened during the three year gap where Gordo
- 39:59was traveling with Joe and his brothers after the death of their father Thomas,
- 40:04but we do see some things how Gordo begins to rebuild his relationships with his
- 40:12with the Bennett Pack, and he slowly begin he's slowly starting to forgive the
- 40:17pack the pack itself as a whole, and by the time he returns to
- 40:23Green Creek with Joe and his brothers, he's now a fully fledged member of
- 40:30their pack. Yeah once again, so he's taken out. He retakes his
- 40:35role as the Bennett Pack, which but he still has a lot of anger
- 40:43towards Mark, and throughout the book we start we see how they butt heads.
- 40:51Mark still wants to he still wants to mend things with Gordo, but
- 40:57at the same time, you know, Gordo has given him middle finger plenty
- 41:00of times and told him to fuck off. So Mark himself tries to move
- 41:06on and even seeks out a relationship with another man. But the thing about
- 41:13werewolves is that once they find their mate, they don't change their mind easily.
- 41:17So you know, there's a few close encounters where Mark tries to make
- 41:22a move on Gordo, but during one such move, Gardo ends up throwing
- 41:30Mark against the side of a building using his magic. It's like, if
- 41:38that's not a clear way of saying funk off, I don't know what is.
- 41:43But yeah, but things begin to we start seeing grdo He's slowly like
- 41:55this is like because he's lived most of his adult life being pissed at pretty
- 42:00much everything life. The Bennett Pack, you know, his he's his default
- 42:07setting is is grumpy. So he's a very spicy individual. I guess you
- 42:15could put it that if we were to put it a certain way. Yeah,
- 42:19And but we slowly begin to see that that gruff exterior begin to melt
- 42:25and fall away because he's starting to realize that he does feel something more for
- 42:31work. And but he's just so stubborn and still angry that he doesn't see
- 42:43he doesn't quite get it. Now the Bennett Pack in this book begins to
- 42:49face an entirely new issue. Even though Richard Collins has been killed, they
- 42:57still have to They still face the threat of Gordo's father, Robert, who
- 43:04had already escaped his imprisonment in the last book. Now we saw what happened
- 43:10during the confrontation with Richard Collins and how he was killed by Joe, but
- 43:16we didn't But nothing ever came out of Gordo's father, so they know he's
- 43:22still out there. They just don't know what he's up to or if he's
- 43:24going to attack Green Creek and the Bennetts again, because Robert Livingstone has a
- 43:32vendetta against the against the Bennett Pack, and we begin to see the culmination
- 43:44of Livingstone's plans against the Bennett Pack because they begin to the pack begins to
- 43:52encounter more and more Omega werewolves like for some reason. So for some reason,
- 43:58the Omegas they flocked to Richard in the last book because they saw they
- 44:04believed that he would become their new alpha and help them regain their humanity and
- 44:10by extension, become more powerful. But that all failed when he was killed
- 44:15and now Ox, for whatever reason, they are drawn to him. And
- 44:22while Ox in the Pack have been trying to help these Omegas, the interim
- 44:28Alpha of Caswell a real bitch of a woman named Michelle Hughes. I'm sorry,
- 44:36I'm not gonna spoil it for you guys, but I'm not gonna spoil
- 44:38it for you guys just yet. But ooh fuck that bitch, Oh fuck
- 44:45that bitch. All right, she was given the role of alpha of all
- 44:52as a temporary role, as like she's just a placeholder until Joe Man's up
- 44:58and takes it for himself. Uh but right now he is not ready for
- 45:04that. He's just trying to focus on on his pack and trying to bring
- 45:12his family back together and heal. But during one of the of his packs
- 45:17encounter with an omega wolf, his older brother Carter gets bitten by this wolf.
- 45:27And I'm sorry, not his older brother, his uncle Mark gets bitten
- 45:34by this wolf. And whenever they had to deal with any Omegas that trespass
- 45:42on to their territory, they of course meet the werewolf in their wolf forms.
- 45:45So while they're in their wolf form, the omega ends up biting Mark
- 45:52and then he and then his older brother Carter, who whenever he's is whenever
- 45:59he's in his wolf form, he instinctively goes to his pack mates whenever they're
- 46:05hurt and licks their wounds like a actually, like an actual wolf would.
- 46:08That's typical behavior of wolves. But see, that's that's where they fucked up.
- 46:17Because Ox and Joe have been trying to work with Michelle Hughes in helping
- 46:25the Omegas that have been flocking to Green Creek, but they learned that she
- 46:30hasn't been helping them at all, but she's actually been putting. She's actually
- 46:34been killing the omegas that they sent to her for help. Oh shit.
- 46:39Yeah, because even though a werewolf becomes an omega, there's a chance that
- 46:43they can still return to they can still become a beta wolf again if they
- 46:49are placed with another pack, if they're accepted into another pack and they have
- 46:53an alpha to look after them. Yeah, but Michelle Hughes, for whatever
- 47:00reason, begins to it has been killing any omega that they send her away
- 47:06for help. And at one point, the very the werewolf that the omega
- 47:15wolf that had attacked and bit Mark was actually Michelle Hughes second in command.
- 47:23He he was there, he was the point of contact for the Bennett pack
- 47:28with for on Michelle's on Alpha Hue's behalf. But during one of this uh
- 47:36during his most recent visit, he begins to go feral, which is unusual
- 47:43because where wolves when they have when they are part of a pack and they
- 47:46have an alpha, they don't go They can't. They don't have any risk
- 47:50of going feral. It's only if they lose their alpha. If they lose
- 47:53or if they leave their pack, but for some reason he spat contaneously goes
- 48:00feral and attacks the Benet pack. Now they subdue him, but in the
- 48:06process Mark gets bitten and Carter licks his wound. And that's and the reason
- 48:14why I'm pointing that out is because when uh when this when mischie when Hughes
- 48:23Second comes back to himself, he has a moment of clarity. They interrogate
- 48:28him and they ask him why did he attack and why are you going feral?
- 48:31He reveals that, as it turns out, there have been Betas from
- 48:39all over the country have been going feral. And he also reveals that they
- 48:47learned that the reason for this is because of some kind of wolf born infection,
- 48:54So which is unusual because were wolves they don't get sick, they can't
- 48:59get sick. But this is some but he reveals that this is some form
- 49:04of magic that causes wolves to go completely feral and it spreads through a bite.
- 49:14And guess who just got bitten? Oh yep, so Mark Bennett was
- 49:20bitten by His name was Pappus, the Hughes former second when he goes when
- 49:30he went feral, he bit Mark. And the thing is the infection also
- 49:34spreads through blood contamination, and since Carter licked Mark's wounds, he also got
- 49:43infected. So unfortunately for Carter and for Mark, they have to be quarantined.
- 50:00And after uh, after Papa's reveals what's been going on in the fact
- 50:07that he that Alpha Hughes has been hiding it from the Bennett pack, Joe
- 50:10and Ox call up Hughes and uh they call up Hughes. Uh. So
- 50:17they call her via video through a video call, and when she answers,
- 50:22they question her and she admits that yes, there is an infection and it
- 50:27has been causing wolves to go feral. If Papa's has been infected, just
- 50:30make sure no one has been bitten, and you should be fine, but
- 50:34you got to put him down. But then, but then they let slip
- 50:37that both Mark and Carter have been infected, and Hughes is like, oh,
- 50:45well, that's a shame. You should put him down because within the
- 50:49next two weeks they're going to go feral. And Joe, Joe and Ox
- 50:54they immediately are all like, hell, no, We're going to figure out
- 50:58a way to cure these guys, because if this is some form of magic,
- 51:00it was definitely caused by Livingstone. So all they need to do is
- 51:05figure out a way to stop the infection. And the way they do that
- 51:08they need to find Robert Livingstone himself. And the problem is is that no
- 51:15one knows where he is, not even uh uh, not even Alpha Hughes
- 51:20has been able to find him. But Hughes. And this is where I'm
- 51:25like, fuck that bitch. She's She gives them an ultimatum. She tells
- 51:31them if if you don't put your if you don't put Mark and Carter down
- 51:37alongside Papa's, then within the next three days, then you're gonna face the
- 51:44consequences. And with that she ends the call. And of course the Benett
- 51:52pack are like, no, fuck that bitch. We're not gonna kill our
- 51:57own family. We're gonna figure this out. We're gonna try to find a
- 52:00way to save our family. But for the time being, they do keep
- 52:07an eye on Carter and Mark. The three days go by, they call
- 52:12up Michelle again to try to convince her to change her mind and try to
- 52:15convince her to like help them. She still stands. She stands by her
- 52:20words and says, if you don't put them down, I'm going then your
- 52:22whole pack will be considered rogue. And when they tell her to go fuck
- 52:29herself, she says, all right, well then I have no choice,
- 52:31and then she declares the Bennett Pack a Roague pack. And then she places
- 52:36a quarantine on Green Creek. Oh because she has to, she said,
- 52:40because, in her own words, she has to assume that the entire pack
- 52:44has been infected. Oh shit, yep, so they know this is bad.
- 52:52So uh. Now that they know that the that as well and Alpha
- 53:02Hughes are to be considered a threat, the Bennett Pack begins to try to
- 53:07figure out a way to prepare themselves for whatever is gonna come, so they
- 53:10start showing up the defenses around the town. They Gordo places more wards because
- 53:17in the previous book, when Collins attacked Green Creek, Livingstone was able to
- 53:27fuck with the wards in order to let him get in. But now Gordo
- 53:32knows better, so he strengthened the wards and made it to where living Stone
- 53:37can no longer affect any of the protection or protective spells around their territory.
- 53:45He also begins calling around the nation to other witches that aren't affiliated with any
- 53:52packs to try to see if there's any way they can help him with figuring
- 53:55out a way to cure this werewolf infection, and he he does reach a
- 54:05couple of witches who are able to help him. Uh they said. They
- 54:09agree to help him and figure and figuring out a way to to either stop
- 54:15the progression of the infection or to cure it entirely. But they quickly tell
- 54:21him that the only way that they're going to be able, the only surefire
- 54:22way that they can stop this infection completely is by killing Robert living By killing
- 54:29Robert Livingstone because he's the man who because it was from his magic that created
- 54:37the infection in the first place. So the Bent Pack do everything they can.
- 54:51They keep an eye on their family, on their two infected family members,
- 54:54but but as the weeks go by, they to exhibit omega tendencies.
- 55:04They start snapping at people. At one point, Mark lost control of himself
- 55:13for a moment and he ends up striking his sister in law, Elizabeth,
- 55:20and he was so upset about it that he almost immediately for he almost immediately
- 55:27demanded to be quarantined. And the way they did that is since werewolves can't
- 55:32touch silver because silver burns them. I feel like this is kind of something
- 55:37out of supernatural, because what they would end up doing is using silver dust,
- 55:44they create a line on the ground. So if they like draw a
- 55:47circle with silver, the werewolves can't cross it. It creates like a barrier
- 55:52that they can't cross. So it's like, okay, go stand in your
- 55:58circle of silver. So that's how they quarantine both Carter and Mark. But
- 56:07it's at this point that now that that Gordo is beginning to realize that he's
- 56:14an idiot because he still loves and he still loves and cares about Mark,
- 56:21and now that Mark is on the verge of completely losing himself, he's becoming
- 56:25frantic in his quest to find the cure. And the thing about the infection
- 56:37itself is that it targets the tethers that bind wolves to each other, So
- 56:43the tethers that connect them to their alpha and the rest of their pack,
- 56:45and even the tethers that connect them to like one individual person. The infection
- 56:52targets those tethers, and when those tethers deteriorate and break and completely break,
- 56:58that's what causes the warl to go fairal and Uh. Gordo realizes that,
- 57:12like the pack began, realizes that well, maybe he needs a stronger tether.
- 57:17And what's stronger than the tether between official mates and uh gay, Yeah,
- 57:30a throuble, A throuble, yes, no tether to another couple.
- 57:44No, well no it okay. So Gordo decides to stop fucking around and
- 57:49he admits his his feelings were marked. And like I said before, I
- 57:58can't well, actually I can't remember if I actually mentioned this in the last
- 58:00book, but uh, the way that were wolves become uh become officially mated
- 58:08with each other and create the mate bond is it's through sex and uh,
- 58:20at the height of the set of at the height of sex, the climax,
- 58:24if you will. At the climax, werewolves will typically bite each other.
- 58:31And usually when you uh, when a werewolf uh gets bitten or if
- 58:37they're hurt in any way, their body heels and they don't scar. But
- 58:43uh, when they are bitten during the mating it lea It actually leaves a
- 58:52scar, and it's called the mating scar, and that creates the mating bond
- 58:59between the between wre wolves. So yeah, kinky, kinky. Uh so
- 59:10yeah, So Gordo just says fuck it and decides to make it official.
- 59:15With Mark and takes on the mating bond with the maide the the bite from
- 59:25Mark, but also it's kind of interesting being a witch because when when they
- 59:34you know, reach their climax and Mark bites him. Gordo also leaves a
- 59:37mark on well Mark and this mark is actually in the shape of a raven
- 59:46because with Gordo, his signature is a raven. He has a tattoo of
- 59:54a raven on his arm, and he even after his father put those magical
- 1:00:01tattoos on him, he got another tattoo on his chest of a wolf and
- 1:00:06a raven. So of course, like the wolf is, it's a brown
- 1:00:10wolf and a raven and the brown the brown wolf is of course Mark,
- 1:00:17and the raven is of what is him? Yeah, so, once the
- 1:00:23mating bond was created, Gordo is left with a scar on his neck and
- 1:00:29uh, Mark has a now has a tattoo of of a raven on his
- 1:00:38neck too, So yeah, but they did so. They had done this
- 1:00:51in an effort to create a stronger tether to help Mark stays sane for a
- 1:00:58longer period of time. But unfortunately it proves to be it proves to not
- 1:01:02be enough because the infection almost immediately breaks that tether, so like you know,
- 1:01:10after they have sex and everything, Gardo wakes up and he finds Mark
- 1:01:15in the kitchen of his house, and when he goes to him, Mark
- 1:01:20turns around and he tells Gordo to run because Mark at that point begins to
- 1:01:24go completely feral. So poor Mark, poor Gordo. Like they finally they
- 1:01:34finally say fuck it, and well fuck and now Gordo and now Mark has
- 1:01:39gone completely feral, completely forgetting his humanity and his emotional tethers and attacks Guardo.
- 1:01:50But luckily for him, the rest the others in the pack sense when
- 1:01:57Mark's tethers to the pack begins to complete disappeared, and they came. They
- 1:02:01come quickly, and they they knock out Mark and they take him back to
- 1:02:07their to their home, and there they quarantine him. They put him in
- 1:02:14a they trap him in a barrier of salt, I'm sorry, a barrier
- 1:02:17of silver, and now he can't get out or hurt anybody. Gordo is
- 1:02:28upset understandably, and the other uh and Carter realizes that it's coming on,
- 1:02:38that the it's gonna happen a lot quicker. So he decided so Carter decides
- 1:02:47to willingly quarantine himself in a line of silver so that way he doesn't hurt
- 1:02:52his family. Now, his brother Kelly is upset because Kelly and they do
- 1:03:00have a very close relationship. In fact, they are each other's tether.
- 1:03:05So seeing his brother in a position like this is very upsetting for him,
- 1:03:08and at one point he even tries to At one point he even wants to
- 1:03:15be quarantined and with his brother, but the rest of the pact, they
- 1:03:22managed to convince him not to. Now here's where things begin to pick up.
- 1:03:31Despite the fact that they despite the fact that they managed to keep Mark
- 1:03:42from hurting anyone else, there's still the fact that there are other omegas out
- 1:03:46there and they're going to begin hurting people. And also, Ox has been
- 1:04:01slowly coming to realize that he has a lot more power than he fully that
- 1:04:10he was fully aware of, So when he became a werewolf, he realized
- 1:04:16that he also had a connection to the other, to the omegas that were
- 1:04:19following Richard Collins. Now and it wasn't just then, but all not just
- 1:04:26those omegas, but all of them, And at first it was too much
- 1:04:32for him, so he had Gordo place a block on his mind to keep
- 1:04:36him from feeling these omegas all around him. But they come up with an
- 1:04:45idea too, maybe use that to their advantage, allowing Ox to become not
- 1:04:59just an alpha, but an alpha, not just an alpha of his own
- 1:05:02pack, but an alpha of all of the omegas the werewolves that don't have
- 1:05:06a pack m M. And the reason what what really spurned them into action
- 1:05:14was because now they begin to see UH the CA they begin to they ex
- 1:05:21UH, they encounter what Michelle Hughes has decided to do M Because Michelle being
- 1:05:31the h being the alpha of alphas, as she has access to a lot
- 1:05:38of resources, including UH an army of witches, and this particular army of
- 1:05:45witches, about thirty of them come to the come to Green Creek, and
- 1:05:51they use their magic to seize control of the Green Creek's Wards, so they
- 1:05:58seize control of them and take over. They basically rip the Wards away from
- 1:06:01Gordo's control and they alter them so now instead of the Wards keeping werewolves and
- 1:06:10other supernatural beings out of Green Creek, but the Wards will now keep the
- 1:06:15Bennett pack in who so the Bennetts are trapped and they have no way of
- 1:06:24they have no way of defending themselves from whatever else is coming their way.
- 1:06:30And they do eventually figure it out when, uh, when they're town,
- 1:06:41when the entire town is attacked by a large group of hunters. So,
- 1:06:47as it turns out, Michelle Hughes made a deal with the last surviving member
- 1:06:54of the King's hunter family, Meredith King. As if you and if you
- 1:07:01remember, she was part of the she was a part of the hunting party
- 1:07:05that attacked the Bennetts decades ago, and now she's back with an even larger
- 1:07:12force of hunters and they completely seize control of the city of the town.
- 1:07:17Now Green Creek is in a big town. There's only like a couple hundred
- 1:07:20residents there, so it's a pretty small town. And Meredith she has she
- 1:07:32not only has a large group of arm of fully armed hunters, but she
- 1:07:39also has two pet werewolves with her. These werewolves are omegas. They've completely
- 1:07:45lost their humanity, so they're both in their full wolf form, so at
- 1:07:49this point they're like animals, but she quote unquote tamed them, so they're
- 1:07:55like basically pets to her, and using her course, she drives the Bennetts
- 1:08:01UH to the very edge of their territory, and she takes over the cities,
- 1:08:08the town center, and she even commandeers Gordo's UH shop. UH.
- 1:08:15Some of the the Bennett pack gets injured in the fight, but they had
- 1:08:21to retreat and regroup, and it was during all this that Mark goes completely
- 1:08:30feral and Carter decides to quarantine himself. But in that in desperation, Gordon
- 1:08:38Ox decides to have Gordo remove that block on his mind because now since they're
- 1:08:45they're outnumbered and outgunned, they need to even the odds, and that's for
- 1:08:49Ox to fully embrace his role as the Alpha the Omegas. Yeah, serie,
- 1:08:58shut the fuck up, you should Devin cut that out? Who all
- 1:09:03right? But yeah, So when he does this, Ox immediately begins to
- 1:09:11feel his connection with the other with the Omegas, not just the ones that
- 1:09:15are trapped in the UH in the city in Green Creek with them, but
- 1:09:19the ones that are outside of the wards yea, and he immediately assumes control
- 1:09:25of them. So now Ox has complete control over all of the Omegas.
- 1:09:33And also part of the reason why he decided to embrace this role is because
- 1:09:39he believed that since the since the infection turns werewolves into omegas, he would
- 1:09:47be able to control them and further prevent the spread of the infection because if
- 1:09:54he has control over the omegas, he can stop them from attacking people,
- 1:09:58from attacking other wors and spreading the infection. And it works. Carter,
- 1:10:05who was still more or less himself, he still retains his humanity more or
- 1:10:11less, and he's able to remain himself. But because Mark is further along
- 1:10:15than he was, Mark just simply reverts to his full wolf form. But
- 1:10:20he's now more or less in control of himself. And with this, Ox
- 1:10:30and the others they go to the to the barrier around Green Creek and confront
- 1:10:36the witches there. And it's there that Ox calls to the other omegas that
- 1:10:41are outside of the wards and they come running and they completely slaughter all the
- 1:10:45witches around the town. Yeah, And with that, Gordo is able to
- 1:10:53reassume control of the wards and he's able to open them, allowing the werewolves
- 1:10:58the omegas to come in. And with that they launched a full scale attack
- 1:11:01against the hunters and they managed to kill all the hunters except for Meredith.
- 1:11:09She she had strapped herself with a vests containing an explosive device as well as
- 1:11:17cylinders filled cylinders filled with silver ball bearings. So if she blows so she's
- 1:11:25planning to blow herself up and taking as many whirls with her as possible.
- 1:11:30Now, when the Hunters had control over the city, over the town,
- 1:11:33the Bennett pack had evacuated many of the residents and had them go into hiding.
- 1:11:42A lot of them were They had them hide in a local bar that
- 1:11:46was owned by this lovely lady named Bambi, and she's also Bamby is also
- 1:11:54the love interest of one of Gordo's human friends, Rico. In the last
- 1:12:00book, Ox had brought in Uh to their pack. So now not only
- 1:12:06do the human UH, not only do the humans other pack of course know
- 1:12:14who were wolves are, but the entire town knows of the existence of werewolves
- 1:12:17now and during the final confrontation with the wolf UH with the hunters UH,
- 1:12:27they see all the wolves and all the fighting. And at one point though
- 1:12:33one of the Omega wolves that Uh Meredith kept as a pet a very large
- 1:12:42It's described as a very large timber wolf. And when I say very large,
- 1:12:47I mean it's about the size of a Racehorse. Yeah, the world,
- 1:12:53the werewolves and this on this book are huge. I don't know if
- 1:12:57I yeah, I don't know if I mentioned up before. But Ox he's
- 1:13:01actually the biggest, so he's he's huge and when he's in his wolf form.
- 1:13:09But this timberwolf in particular didn't respond to Ox when he assumed control over
- 1:13:15the Omegas, and he's still more or less fought against uh, the Bennetts.
- 1:13:23But when this wolf encounters Carter Bennett in a fight, instead of attacking
- 1:13:30him, it ends up like sniffing him, and then it grabs him and
- 1:13:36tries to pull him away from all the fighting, and it starts to act
- 1:13:41as if it's trying to protect him. And this, let me tell you
- 1:13:45something, the dynamic between this timberwolf and Carter Bennett is hilarious because, for
- 1:13:53one thing, Carter is extremely annoyed because the timberwolf ends up attaching itself to
- 1:13:58Carter and it begins falling him everywhere like a shadow and and rarely gives him
- 1:14:03any kind of personal space. And he doesn't understand why the timberwolf is doing
- 1:14:09that. But then everyone else in the pack they are losing their ship because
- 1:14:14they know why since it's still a where since the Timberwolf, it's still a
- 1:14:19werewolf, just an omega. It's still technically human, and it's a it's
- 1:14:26still a werewolf. And werewolves are a romantic. Yeah, So they are
- 1:14:33very their senses are very smell oriented, and when they encounter their true mate,
- 1:14:45it's they know based off of sense of smell. And Carter didn't realize
- 1:14:51this, but the Timberwolf recognized him as his mate, and for the next
- 1:15:00two books, Carter well like after this, like for the next book,
- 1:15:04Carter doesn't even know why the wolf is so attached to him, but everyone
- 1:15:08else in the pack they're losing. They're just like they're just laughing at him
- 1:15:12because they're like, oh my god, he's so dumb. When should we
- 1:15:15tell him. Who's gonna tell him? No one? Okay, good?
- 1:15:18I just I want to see how a lot it takes from to figure it
- 1:15:21out. But in the end, the Bennett pack does come out on top.
- 1:15:32They do defeat the rest of the hunters, and when Meredith straps the
- 1:15:39bomb to her chest, she tries to blow up the bar that the majority
- 1:15:44of the Green Creek residents were hyating in, but before she did, the
- 1:15:51human members of the pack managed to like sneak in from the back entrance and
- 1:15:57lead everyone out. So when she so when Meredith, when she's finally confronted,
- 1:16:01she runs into the bar and blows herself up. But she doesn't kill
- 1:16:05anybody. Yeah, she just blows up an empty bar, which pisses off
- 1:16:11Bambi because that was her bar. Who And this is pretty much we're very
- 1:16:18pretty much at the end of the book. Uh. Gordo, along with
- 1:16:24the help of the other witches that he had contacted earlier, they were able
- 1:16:30to help Mark and Carter more or less regain their humanity again, because even
- 1:16:36though Ox had taken control of the Omegash, Mark is still more or less
- 1:16:44trapped in his wolf form. So using the same technique that Gordo used to
- 1:16:49put a block in Ox's head, they create another mental block in Mark and
- 1:16:54Carter, which allows them to rein in their feral side and regain their humanity
- 1:17:00again and as well as regain the teathers that bind them to the pattern.
- 1:17:05It's it's a band aid, it's duct tape over a leaky over a leaky
- 1:17:10pipe, but it works now Gordo and Mark. They do end up moving
- 1:17:20Mark ends up moving in with Gordo and Uh they begin their relationship in full
- 1:17:28and while it's not perfect, UH, it's a start. And also before
- 1:17:33I forget earlier when the so Gordo has also begin is also dealing with his
- 1:17:43own UH trauma trauma. At this point, both Mark and Gordo are dealing
- 1:17:49with their own trauma. Mark, even though he has that block, that
- 1:17:56mental block put in place to keep his feral side from taking over, he
- 1:18:01still has to deal with It's basically like they locked a wolf on the other
- 1:18:06side of the door, and that wolf is constantly scratching at that door,
- 1:18:12and some days it's easier to ignore, but other days, very rarely,
- 1:18:17it's almost unbearable. So he has his ups and his downs. But Gordo
- 1:18:24is also facing his own up and downs because earlier, when they went to
- 1:18:30confront the witches that were controlling that had taken over the wards, one of
- 1:18:34them ran through the barrier and tried to attack Ox with a silver knife,
- 1:18:41and Gordo he stepped in and defended Ox, but when he was trying to
- 1:18:46block the knife, the witch that attacked ended up cutting off his right hand,
- 1:18:55so Gordo lost his hand and they weren't it. Yeah, so he
- 1:19:00wasn't able and they weren't even able to reconnect it either. You would think
- 1:19:04that witches would be able to uh, a bunch of witches with healing abilities
- 1:19:12would be able to reattach his severed hand. WHOA maybe mhmm, I mean
- 1:19:20not Uh, yeah, I guess, but either way, Uh. Now,
- 1:19:30Gordo, even though they healed his they healed his hand, he's still
- 1:19:33missing it and he has to adjust to having only one hand. Like Mark
- 1:19:39has his ups and is down, Gordo has his ups and downs. There
- 1:19:42are days where he forgets that he's no longer has his hand and he'll reach
- 1:19:45for something with that hand and realize, oh, it's gone. So it's
- 1:19:53something that the two of them have to learn to live with, at least
- 1:19:57for now. Uh. But now that they have each other, they're able
- 1:20:02to be there for each other and honestly, like, it's it's funny how
- 1:20:10the rest of the pack gives them a lot of ship for this, because
- 1:20:13they're like, it's about It's about damn time. You know, both the
- 1:20:16two of you are fonding over each other. Yeah, Mark more openly fonding
- 1:20:20over you, Gordo. You you, uh, you hold on to that
- 1:20:26gruphic sterior and then when you think no one is looking, we see you
- 1:20:29giving Mark the googly eyes, the Google love eyes, the love eyes.
- 1:20:33Yeah, uh huh. And Mark and then and Gordo of course makes death
- 1:20:39threats to everybody like I will kill you all if you keep that up.
- 1:20:43But dude, it when you read, when you get around reading these books,
- 1:20:46man, like they're the dynamic. But with the Bennett Pack, the
- 1:20:51family dynamic is hilarious. It's just so it's they're they're very close, they
- 1:20:58love each other, and the way they hang shit on each each other is
- 1:21:00just amazing. I love it. Like they're there. You've seen me,
- 1:21:05Like I'll be like we'll be hanging out and I'll be reading and then you'll
- 1:21:09just see me like put the my phone down and I'm just like like I'm
- 1:21:12just I'm just like I can't Yeah, you're having a moment. I'm just
- 1:21:17like I'm having a moment here like like either I'm not okay because something something
- 1:21:23went down in the book that just got me like ah fuck. And then
- 1:21:26there are other moments where all like that's great, yeah pretty much sounds about
- 1:21:31right. Yeah yeah, But Other than that, we're pretty much at the
- 1:21:40end of the book. The book ends not from the perspective of Gordo,
- 1:21:44but from the perspective of Michelle Hughes. Yeah. Back over in Caswell,
- 1:21:51Maine and the Maine uh in the Wolf Compound and the Werewolf Compound, Michelle
- 1:22:00Hughes has not heard anything from the from the hunters that she sent to Green
- 1:22:10Creek to kill the Bennett family, which is fucked up because a werewolf made
- 1:22:17a deal with hunters to kill other werewolves. Yeah, and her, you
- 1:22:27know, her own pack witch, who had been the ponent of contact between
- 1:22:30her and the other witches, hasn't heard anything, and they assume, and
- 1:22:33they can only assume that their plan failed. But just as they're trying to
- 1:22:40figure out what's due next, her compound comes under attack and guess who walks
- 1:22:46through her front door. Robert Livingstone Dun Dun Dunn looking Stone. Yeah,
- 1:23:00Livingstone easily overwhelms her wolves because he's now has access to some form of dark
- 1:23:10magic. We don't really know where he got his power from, because apparently
- 1:23:15was his magic had been stripped from him, but when at this point,
- 1:23:18we don't know how he got his magic back, and we don't know who
- 1:23:21helped him escape, because somebody helped him escape. But now he's back and
- 1:23:27he's even more powerful than ever, and he makes a deal with Michelle Hughes,
- 1:23:33and the thing is the deal. The deal was that Michelle would help
- 1:23:39him not take down the Bennett Pack, but rather retrieve something that the Bennetts
- 1:23:47have that he wants. And what he wants is his son. Who oh,
- 1:24:01but he's not talking about Gordo what. Yeah, So at the end
- 1:24:11of the Raving Song it is revealed h Livingstone reveals that he has another son
- 1:24:21and that son is currently with the Bennett Pack. Mm hmmm, what is
- 1:24:29it? Yep? And Hughes, being obnoxious and arrogant, thinking that she
- 1:24:39somehow hasn't has an edge over living Stone, she challenges him and she's like,
- 1:24:44well, what do you have? Well, how does this benefit mean?
- 1:24:47What can you give me in return? M hm? And and how
- 1:24:55are we and how exactly are we going to go about getting your son back
- 1:24:58from the Bens And I've only mentioned this character. I haven't mentioned this character
- 1:25:03at all in this in this book. I mean, he's there, he's
- 1:25:09a part of the Bennett Pack, but he was introduced in book one.
- 1:25:12His name is Robbie Hm. He was originally so in the previous book.
- 1:25:20Robbie was the point of contact for Alpha Hughes with the Bennett Pack. But
- 1:25:26the thing about Robbie was is that he never he didn't really consider himself a
- 1:25:30part, like a full member of Alpha Hughes pack. He always bounced around
- 1:25:35from pack to pack. And when he came to Bennett Pack, he realized
- 1:25:40he had something more here and he became a full, full fledged member of
- 1:25:44the pack. And that's mainly because he found his own mate in the Bennett
- 1:25:48Pack, and that was the second son. That was the second Bennett son,
- 1:25:57Kelly Bennett so very so Kelly and so Key and I haven't really talked
- 1:26:09about it much, but there's there is a lot of foreshadowing. Kelly doesn't
- 1:26:14it's kind of oblivious to Robbie at first, but Robbie begins to fawn over
- 1:26:17him and follow him all over and follow him all over the place, and
- 1:26:23throughout the second book we see more of that and it leads up to this
- 1:26:27is the the hint of what's going to come in the next book, and
- 1:26:30that is the love story. The romance is going to be centered around Robbie
- 1:26:36and Kelly Bennett, and Livingstone tells Alpha Hughes that he makes her a deal.
- 1:26:46He tells her, I know you, I know Robbie was once a
- 1:26:49part of your pack. So work with me and I'll help you get him
- 1:26:54back, and we'll use him as a weapon against the and we'll also use
- 1:26:58him as a weapon against the Bennetts. So win win. It'll help me
- 1:27:02get my son back. And that is where the book ends. Oh,
- 1:27:11there's treachery. There's treachery. Let me tell you book three of I'm sorry
- 1:27:26it's uh, I'm throwing a blank of aner Book three, Heartstone, I'm
- 1:27:30sorry, heart song. It's an emotional rollercoaster for me at least, whoop,
- 1:27:40because by this point we've already established like you've already like like, Robbie
- 1:27:46has been a part of the pack for some time now. And you you
- 1:27:51know, if you're like me and you like I mean, this happens to
- 1:27:55anyone. When you read a book, you do, you do tend to
- 1:27:59form an emotional bond with the characters in the book. And by book three,
- 1:28:02you've already formed a bond with Robbie because he's a part of the He's
- 1:28:08a part of the whole story and the lead the build up to his relationship
- 1:28:16with Kelly is there, and you're just like, oh, I can't wait
- 1:28:20to see how they become, how they come together. I can't wait to
- 1:28:25see this. Right. Well, then you get to Heart Song and suddenly
- 1:28:28you're like, no, no, they you got me fucked up. They
- 1:28:32wouldn't, they didn't. Oh they did, they did. Oh, But
- 1:28:42it's a word. It's worth it. In the end, I won't go
- 1:28:45any further than that. You'll just have to wait until next week when we
- 1:28:50review book three of the Green Creek series of Heart Song. Yeah, so
- 1:29:00thank you guys for tuning in. Yeah, Like, for those of you
- 1:29:05who are expecting the typical movie reviews like like we've been doing, we are
- 1:29:11stepping away from that, especially with this series, because there's no movie adaptation
- 1:29:15for Wolf's Song or the or its other sequels. Honestly, I'm not sure
- 1:29:23how it feel about it because someone I think, I think, like HBO
- 1:29:29Max or max if anybody should be doing it, so they can just do
- 1:29:33it as like on so it can be as much as the book is because
- 1:29:43it's a little more. I would say this book's a what would you say?
- 1:29:45This book is not free, It's obviously a little more adult. It
- 1:29:50is definitely more adult because there are sexually there are sexually explicit scenes and aside
- 1:29:58from like, aside from the sex, it also goes into the fact that
- 1:30:05well thing about werewolves is that it comes down to nudity as well, because
- 1:30:13nudity is a very common thing when it comes to werewolves. Because you know
- 1:30:16when when it when a werewolf turns from their human form to their wolf form.
- 1:30:21You know, especially wolves the size of of horses, it's not going
- 1:30:27to be you know, their clothes aren't going to survive a man. You're
- 1:30:30gonna see a man's ass and a pen. You're gonna see You're gonna see
- 1:30:35ass, tits and pens all over the place, all right. And it's
- 1:30:42very common throughout the book, and they though the funny thing. The one
- 1:30:45thing I love about it though, is that like uh so, like a
- 1:30:48lot of the characters they make a lot of they joke about it all the
- 1:30:50time. And they joke about it all the time, like when uh Gordo's
- 1:30:59human friends are brought into the pack and they learn about were wolves, they
- 1:31:02they themselves see the wolf members of the pack, you know, naked multiple
- 1:31:08times, especially during the full moon when they're about to turn into their wolf,
- 1:31:11you know, when the moon compels them to turn into a wolf.
- 1:31:14They see that, they see their pack mats naked more more often than they
- 1:31:18make those jokes about it. And just like I've seen way too many I've
- 1:31:23seen way too many of my closest friends naked. Now, thanks for that,
- 1:31:27and it's just it's hilarious. They make light of it, and you
- 1:31:31know, the thing is is that it adjusts to the fact that, like,
- 1:31:34you know, a lot of people tend to see nudity as a sexual
- 1:31:39thing, but with were wolves, it's not. It's actually completely natural and
- 1:31:44it's very common, all right. Of course, they have the common sense
- 1:31:48to wear clothes when in public and not you know, strutting det in the
- 1:31:53middle of town buck ass nude, although that does happen a few times in
- 1:31:56this book, especially when the hunters attack and some of the members and some
- 1:32:00of the Pact members when they turn back into their human forms and oh yeah,
- 1:32:05naked os. Yeah, you know, rock out with your cockout,
- 1:32:15rock out with your cock out. But yeah, so definitely, if this
- 1:32:21if this series is ever adapted into some form of live action series. I
- 1:32:28definitely I think HBO Max would be better if not them, maybe maybe Prime
- 1:32:36because Prime does there they tend to make a lot of like decent adult themed
- 1:32:43shows. Yeah, though personally I think it would be better off with Max
- 1:32:47because I can see it. But someone had the audacity to call this book
- 1:32:56the Twilight of Werewolves. Oh, and I'm like, how dare you?
- 1:33:00Sir? Oh damn, Like, how how dare you? I'm that statement,
- 1:33:09I actually am, because unlike Twilight with the sparkly vampire bullshit, this
- 1:33:19is this story is more faithful to how were wolves are in mythology because like
- 1:33:28I mean, of course, like most of the werewolves we see in this
- 1:33:30book are purebred werewolves, which meaning that they were born were wolves. Yeah,
- 1:33:38but then it also just the fact that where humans can be turned into
- 1:33:43a were wolf, but it's only if an alpha werewolf bites you. And
- 1:33:49that's what happened when Ox was turned into a were wolf. That's what happens.
- 1:33:54I'm not gonna that's a spoiler. I'm not gonna tell you until next
- 1:33:59week. H but it that's what happens. And then it also and then
- 1:34:04also wear wolves in this book, they do turn their they are they do.
- 1:34:11Uh, they do turn under the full moon mm hmm. And but
- 1:34:17for them, like what the thing about the full moon is that for them,
- 1:34:21it's more kind of like a monthly thing, like like, oh,
- 1:34:25it's that time of the month we're gonna turn into where wolves have some fun
- 1:34:27and then you know, chill the rest of the chill the next morning.
- 1:34:31Yeah, it's more of like a it's like a like a night for them.
- 1:34:35It's just like their monthly nightly outing. Yeah, all right, it's
- 1:34:40not it's not them going completely feral and like running around killing, pouring some
- 1:34:45deer and you know, ravaging the town. It's a typical thing that happens
- 1:34:49every month. Yep. But aside from that, they have complete control of
- 1:34:56their transformations, so they can turn anytime they want, and there's a lot
- 1:35:03more. I think this is a lot better because you know, the so
- 1:35:09called werewolves in Twilight are not a romantic at all. I mean, if
- 1:35:15you read the books, yeah, they do have higher senses and you know,
- 1:35:17smell, sight and hearing, but it doesn't really address the fact that
- 1:35:24wolves in general are a romantic. They they're very they're scent oriented, and
- 1:35:33in the Green Greek Chronicles it is they capture that like, even as humans,
- 1:35:40they still have wolf like tendencies, meaning that they rely on their sense
- 1:35:45of smell a lot more than the than their sense of hearing and their sense
- 1:35:47of sight and other things. So I think it's way better. I mean,
- 1:35:54yeah, argument can be made that it's Twilight of war Wolves just because
- 1:35:58of the love and the romance, but I don't think so mm hmmmm.
- 1:36:02I think it's way better. And the characters in these books are so much
- 1:36:09more relatable. Yeah, and it's a lot more for me. I think
- 1:36:14it's a lot more wholesome because there's such a strong family dynamic here. It
- 1:36:18just it honestly makes me, like it makes my heartache because I'm just like,
- 1:36:23they are such a this is such a loving family. And then I'm
- 1:36:28a low key a little jealous of it because, like, you know,
- 1:36:30my family dynamic is not like that at all. Yeah, most of us
- 1:36:35can barely stand each other. Yeah, it also has a found family dynamic
- 1:36:45as well, so it's not just like oh family like blood family very close
- 1:36:50to each other, like the ben And family itself. They're very close,
- 1:36:55but they also have their own found family. Like the Pack practically adopted Oxen
- 1:37:01to their family because not just because they thought he was such a sweet and
- 1:37:05special kid, but also because he brought Joe back to them when when they
- 1:37:14moved back to Green Creek, Joe Bennett, the youngest of their youngest son,
- 1:37:19had been so severely traumatized by his experience with Richard Collins that he did
- 1:37:26not speak. He was basically a shell of who he used to be.
- 1:37:30You know, you realize how bad that is for a ten year old child
- 1:37:33to go through something like that. Yeah, Like he he did not speak
- 1:37:40or utter a single word in over a year and it was basically like a
- 1:37:45zombie and you know it, you know that experience it really hurt their family,
- 1:37:56Like their parents were just so up, there were just so trauma.
- 1:38:00They themselves were traumatized by what their son went through and his older brothers.
- 1:38:06They did everything they could to take care of Joe and try to, like,
- 1:38:10you know, make him feel comfortable and safe, but even that wasn't
- 1:38:15enough. But then the very day they moved back into their old home in
- 1:38:19Green Creek, Joe meets this this oversized, quiet, but very sweet and
- 1:38:28gentle kid and immediately comes out of the show and it's like he's back,
- 1:38:33He's back to his old self, and it's like they the Benett family felt
- 1:38:42so much gratitude towards Ox that they pretty much from that day forward, Ox
- 1:38:47was a part of their family. Even though he didn't know who they were
- 1:38:53at first, he was still a part of their family. And then we
- 1:38:58see more of that, like we see it when Ox eventually brings in his
- 1:39:02own mother into the into the into the pack, he brings in Rico Tanner
- 1:39:09and Chris from the shop, and then he even brings in his ex girlfriend
- 1:39:13Jesse, but that was kind of that was by necessity because she got kidnapped
- 1:39:17by werewolves like Omegas. And and even though like, yeah, circumstances forced
- 1:39:29some of these people into their lives and into the world of like the supernatural,
- 1:39:33they become such a they their family grows and becomes so much bigger and
- 1:39:40so much more close that I'm just like, h yeah, I love it.
- 1:39:47No, I agree, and I think it's great. Yeah, So
- 1:39:50Hurriyett, so Devin hurry and then read it. Yeah, so guys,
- 1:39:59we were actually originally planning on doing Yes, I'm gonna call you out.
- 1:40:03So we were originally gonna do Stephen King's fairy Tale. Yeah, we've been
- 1:40:10planning on doing that for a while now. I read it weeks ago,
- 1:40:14like over a month ago, and then no, no, no, no,
- 1:40:17no, the adult is talking. Ah. So like I've since then
- 1:40:27have read five books. Yeah, five books, and then I asked you,

- 1:41:27be covering. We will be going over heart Song and guys, prepare this
- 1:41:33one is hard. Song is an emotional roller coaster. Oh god, because
- 1:41:40it's not gonna be like the last two books where we see the full from
- 1:41:45beginning to end of the relationship between these two characters. It's gonna be something
- 1:41:50completely different. We're basically going to be starting from the end going forward.
- 1:42:00Yep. So you want to know more Tue next week? Yeah, then
- 1:42:05bye Tootles tootles, tootles, Yeah, tootle or tootles
