- 0:02Speaker 1: This is PJ Souls, and you are totally listening to
- 0:05Speaker 1: Movie Meltdown.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Rock, rock, rock, we roll high school. That's not the
- 0:14Speaker 2: way I wanna be.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Rock, rock, rock, we roll high school.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I just wanna have some chicks.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I just wanna get some chicks.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Rock, rock, rock, rock, we roll high school. This episode
- 0:28Speaker 2: is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right, this is
- 0:31Speaker 2: a Misty episode, so it will be laced with profanity
- 0:34Speaker 2: even more than usual. If you're not comfortable with this
- 0:36Speaker 2: level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode for you.
- 0:40Speaker 2: But we have many other episodes to choose from that
- 0:42Speaker 2: do not feature Misty, and will probably be far less offensive. Okay, maybe.
- 0:46Speaker 2: With that having been said, on with the show.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's showtime.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Five more cooling in the containment chamber. To your citizens,
- 1:23Speaker 2: we have a movie meltdown. Ray, when someone asks you
- 1:27Speaker 2: if you're a god, you say, YES!
- 1:39Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. I'm Misty.
- 1:42Speaker 1: We're coming to you live via digital recording from the
- 1:45Speaker 1: outskirts of Days of the Dead in Indianapolis.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Hills, yes we are.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Here... At the Windermere Hotel. That's what I've been calling
- 1:52Speaker 1: it all day, so I'm going with that.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Clarence Weidman, that's the name I was trying to think
- 1:55Speaker 4: of earlier.
- 1:58Speaker 5: All day.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's been this craziness all day.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Shenanigans.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It has been also awesome.
- 2:05Speaker 4: It's been pretty fantastic.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It's been pretty awesome. Cruising around, hanging out with our favorite.
- 2:11Speaker 6: Person, which we'll get to in a minute.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And looking at cool stuff. Do you want to jump
- 2:17Speaker 1: right to him?
- 2:17Speaker 4: Well, it's the first thing we did.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I mean, it really is. It's the whole reason. Not
- 2:21Speaker 1: that we don't always love coming to Days of Dead,
- 2:23Speaker 1: but when I saw it, I immediately sent the link
- 2:25Speaker 1: to you. You saw who's coming, right?
- 2:28Speaker 4: I sent it to you.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I sent it to you. We both sent it simultaneously.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I sent it to you first. I can double check
- 2:33Speaker 4: the internets if I need to. So I was like,
- 2:34Speaker 4: oh my God, now I have to go. Am I
- 2:37Speaker 4: going to have to look this up?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Does it really matter? Did we not end up here?
- 2:41Speaker 4: We are here.
- 2:42Speaker 1: We are here.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I'm here.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And did we not see your favoritist person?
- 2:45Speaker 4: Oh my gosh. I have been saying four years. Literally
- 2:51Speaker 4: four years.
- 2:52Speaker 6: This has been an ongoing conversation for us.
- 2:55Speaker 4: It's one of the two that I've been saying for years.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Goddamn Mark Singer still ain't listening to me.
- 2:59Speaker 1: He's just being difficult. But whatever. Him aside.
- 3:02Speaker 4: One of these days. Mark Singer. I'm coming for you.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Not in a creepy stalker way. But in a I'm
- 3:06Speaker 4: going to get you to sign my Beastmaster poster kind
- 3:07Speaker 4: of way. But yeah. Ray Wise.
- 3:11Speaker 1: We've been saying for years. When is Ray Wise going
- 3:14Speaker 1: to come somewhere where we can go and see him
- 3:17Speaker 1: and hang out and he can sign a thing and
- 3:19Speaker 1: take a picture and all of the cool things.
- 3:22Speaker 7: Now.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Now is the time.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Because yeah, I've literally been waiting forever and I just
- 3:26Speaker 4: can't even God, we talk so much I can't even
- 3:30Speaker 4: find the conversation that we had.
- 3:32Speaker 1: We're the only ones either of us talk to. You
- 3:34Speaker 1: know that.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I talk to people. Occasionally I do, but Apparently I
- 3:40Speaker 4: can't search for just specific conversations.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You can. It's called scrolling.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Anyways, I'm pretty sure I told you about it. So
- 3:49Speaker 4: I came fully prepared to like wait in line for
- 3:51Speaker 4: like hours and hours and hours and hours and hours
- 3:54Speaker 4: and hours. Cause that's like, usually when I want to
- 3:56Speaker 4: see somebody, it's a process.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And it's a big deal. And to me, that was
- 4:00Speaker 1: the thing. It's like, it's a big deal. He's never
- 4:02Speaker 1: been to any of these in this area, at least.
- 4:04Speaker 1: We've never seen him at how many shows do we
- 4:06Speaker 1: go to? You all know. How many shows do we
- 4:09Speaker 1: go to? And never have we run across Ray. So
- 4:12Speaker 1: I was like, this is a big deal. We got
- 4:13Speaker 1: to go get in line early. And this is our
- 4:15Speaker 1: only objective. Go and see Ray. So beeline right when
- 4:19Speaker 1: you got there.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Fucking straight to where he was. There was nobody in line.
- 4:22Speaker 1: What is wrong with you people?
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yes, seriously.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Not necessarily you people that are listening because you probably
- 4:27Speaker 1: weren't there, but Anyone in the vicinity, why would you
- 4:30Speaker 1: not want to hang out with Ray? The coolest person ever.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Straight to his line, nobody there, which was bizarre to me,
- 4:36Speaker 4: because like I said, that was the only reason I came. Because,
- 4:39Speaker 4: I mean, I do like this convention, but me and people,
- 4:41Speaker 4: it just doesn't go together well, and I end up
- 4:43Speaker 4: getting super stressed, so it has to be like a
- 4:46Speaker 4: specific name.
- 4:47Speaker 1: A reason.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Like, there has to be like.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Incentive.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Yeah, there has to be like, holy shit, I need
- 4:53Speaker 4: this in my life. And then... He was there, and
- 4:57Speaker 4: he was so delightful. And I couldn't decide which to
- 5:00Speaker 4: go for, because they had the Twin Peaks, and then
- 5:03Speaker 4: they had the Reaper, and I'm like, oh my god!
- 5:07Speaker 4: So I buckled and got both.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Sucker! Yeah, dude, I know.
- 5:11Speaker 4: And then I had to get a picture with him,
- 5:13Speaker 4: because I'm a full-on sucker, and how could I not?
- 5:15Speaker 1: Who doesn't want a picture with Ray Wise?
- 5:17Speaker 4: He's awesome. He is delightful, and he is so handsome.
- 5:21Speaker 4: He has great bone structure.
- 5:23Speaker 1: You're just saying that because he kissed you.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that too.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I didn't get that.
- 5:26Speaker 4: It was on my cheek, people. On my cheek. Get
- 5:29Speaker 4: your minds out of the filthy gutters.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Oh, no. You questioned earlier. I mean, after the kiss
- 5:34Speaker 1: and the hug, I mean, you might be an item now.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Is he my boyfriend now?
- 5:38Speaker 1: I think so. I think that's how it works.
- 5:40Speaker 4: According to playground rules.
- 5:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 1: This is the rules. We're going out. You held my hand.
- 5:45Speaker 4: We're going out.
- 5:45Speaker 1: This is how it works.
- 5:47Speaker 4: He did shake my hand. Does that count as holding hands?
- 5:49Speaker 1: I did shake his hand, so I guess we're kind of... Uh-oh,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm moving in on your territory now.
- 5:53Speaker 4: You didn't get a kiss or a hug.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Nope, I am not near as loved as you.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Your boyfriend stayed at home, so it's probably for the best.
- 6:00Speaker 6: He'd probably be like, dude, what are you doing?
- 6:03Speaker 4: Dude, he's very wise. He wouldn't have said anything. He'd
- 6:05Speaker 4: be like, do I get a kiss?
- 6:08Speaker 1: I love Robocop! And he'd be like, yeah, I know.
- 6:13Speaker 4: What do you mean he was in Robocop?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah well again this is jay so any of you
- 6:18Speaker 1: that know jay know he forgets most things you're lucky
- 6:22Speaker 1: he remembers to come home sometimes.
- 6:23Speaker 4: That's all he wants for it he comes like straight
- 6:26Speaker 4: home you know but he forgets where he lives.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Or he opens the door he's like who are you
- 6:32Speaker 1: what are you doing here.
- 6:32Speaker 4: That's why i had to dye my hair pink again.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So he can find me that's true that's the only
- 6:36Speaker 1: way he keeps up with you i.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Love him though but anyways yeah i gotta i gotta
- 6:40Speaker 4: kiss on that because i I got the rather regular
- 6:42Speaker 4: option photo to begin with like the straight on which
- 6:45Speaker 4: I hate because I'm so like I have this like
- 6:49Speaker 4: this like I have like five chins so when you
- 6:51Speaker 4: get like that certain angle it's just like earthworm nobody
- 6:58Speaker 4: likes the earthworm come on so I'm like can I
- 7:00Speaker 4: get a selfie so I can get the upward angle
- 7:02Speaker 4: so that I can avoid all the this and he's
- 7:04Speaker 4: like yeah sure so I'm sitting there and I'm getting
- 7:07Speaker 4: I'm getting the selfie like complete downward angle because that
- 7:09Speaker 4: way it's the best angle Next thing I know, there's, like,
- 7:12Speaker 4: Ray Weiss lips, like, coming to my cheek. And there's, like,
- 7:14Speaker 4: a process of the photos. There's, like, regular, then there's
- 7:17Speaker 4: coming in, and there it is, like, with the touching.
- 7:19Speaker 4: And I'm like, ah! And my face is, like, about
- 7:21Speaker 4: to explode.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You were kind of vibrating at his table.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I was. I can't help it. I was so excited.
- 7:30Speaker 4: So after that, I could relax, because that was my
- 7:32Speaker 4: whole thing.
- 7:32Speaker 6: I'm like, That's it.
- 7:35Speaker 4: In his line. First thing. I'm not going to fuck around.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I'm not going to miss this. I'm not going to
- 7:39Speaker 4: get there and he has to go somewhere and then
- 7:41Speaker 4: I have to wait. And then lines. No lines. For him.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Sid.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Don't get me wrong.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I love Sid Haig. Obviously, we've talked to him many
- 7:54Speaker 1: times over the years. But he had a huge line.
- 7:57Speaker 4: The whole time we were there. Man.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Sid's been around a long time. He hits conventions as
- 8:02Speaker 1: often as we do.
- 8:03Speaker 4: And in the same area.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Do you guys not already have him signed? I mean,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I have a couple of things signed by him, but
- 8:08Speaker 1: I wasn't in line again.
- 8:09Speaker 4: I would like to think that if you wanted Sid
- 8:11Speaker 4: Haig's autograph, you would have it by now.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Do you think?
- 8:15Speaker 4: He's at so many conventions in this whole area. It's
- 8:19Speaker 4: not like he's been to Indiana like once.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's pretty regular.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I don't know though.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I love Sid.
- 8:27Speaker 4: He is getting up there.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I guess they gotta like hurry up and sign this.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I'm not saying this to be bad or mean. He's
- 8:34Speaker 4: looking a little bit on the frail side. So if
- 8:35Speaker 4: he comes to your area and you need to get
- 8:37Speaker 4: it and you don't already have it.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I guess get in line. Be one of those people.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Get in line now.
- 8:41Speaker 4: And he has not raised his prices which I find
- 8:44Speaker 4: absolutely amazing.
- 8:44Speaker 1: That is impressive because it's rare these days. I mean
- 8:47Speaker 1: they all kind of hit a price point and everybody
- 8:50Speaker 1: kind of sticks to that price point. So the random
- 8:53Speaker 1: times when I see somebody sort of break the rules
- 8:55Speaker 1: and do their own thing, and especially if they do
- 8:57Speaker 1: the cheap own thing, I'm like, bonus points to you.
- 9:00Speaker 1: That's pretty awesome.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Because his is still the standard, buy whatever he has
- 9:04Speaker 4: for 20 bucks. If you want your own thing signed, $ 10.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Free photo with him.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm like, that's awesome. Like, I wish all conventions were
- 9:12Speaker 1: like that. Granted, I know they have to, like, cover
- 9:15Speaker 1: their own expenses and survive.
- 9:18Speaker 4: And a lot of times, it's not the celebrity either.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the whole system. Like I said, it is
- 9:22Speaker 1: an industry now. So, like, you know, people... People have
- 9:25Speaker 1: to kind of go along with the system. But it's
- 9:27Speaker 1: always interesting to see who like bucks the systems. Like, nope,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'm going to do this my way.
- 9:32Speaker 4: But yeah, it's like he had a line the whole day.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Bill Moseley, another one that we've seen.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Pretty regular.
- 9:38Speaker 4: He didn't give me any cookies.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Didn't give us any cookies this time because it was, again,
- 9:42Speaker 1: we're going back quite a ways. But in that very building,
- 9:44Speaker 1: one day he gave us a pecan sandy.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Which I don't even like, but you don't turn down
- 9:48Speaker 4: cookies from Bill Moseley.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Not from strangers, but if it's Bill Moseley, it's okay.
- 9:52Speaker 4: He's not a stranger.
- 9:53Speaker 1: It may be made of like human body parts or
- 9:56Speaker 1: god knows what but yeah.
- 9:56Speaker 4: I would i would be disappointed if it's not yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I mean still cannibalism it's fine if it's involving bill.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Mosley duh but yeah that's not a great fan it's
- 10:06Speaker 4: a good time.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I mean good i got to see my favorite is
- 10:09Speaker 1: pj souls she is adorable she's adorable every time i
- 10:12Speaker 1: walk by the table i'm like look at her she's
- 10:14Speaker 1: adorable You.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Can't fight the power. And there was so many enamel
- 10:18Speaker 4: pins here.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Good Lord. I can't. I can't get any more. There's
- 10:21Speaker 1: too many. I can't do it. I'm out of control.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And they're making too many at this point, I think. Basically,
- 10:27Speaker 1: anything you've ever heard of that might have been a
- 10:29Speaker 1: movie or any sort of pop culture thing, there is
- 10:32Speaker 1: now an enamel pin of it. And the more frustrating
- 10:34Speaker 1: part is I need most of them.
- 10:36Speaker 4: I can't help it.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I seem to think I do. I don't. But I still,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I made myself stop after just a couple. But there
- 10:44Speaker 1: were so many more that I'm like, damn it, I
- 10:46Speaker 1: kind of want that one. I kind of want that one.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm ever going to do with
- 10:49Speaker 1: enamel pins other than shove them into a piece of
- 10:51Speaker 1: cork and display them like a dork.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I showed great reserve. I only bought four enamel pins today.
- 10:58Speaker 1: That's actually pretty minimal or standard depending on the day
- 11:02Speaker 1: for you.
- 11:02Speaker 4: One I have my hand to get because it was
- 11:04Speaker 4: so epically done. It was a pin of Laura Palmer
- 11:09Speaker 4: from Twin Peaks. But the pin itself was wrapped in plastic.
- 11:13Speaker 2: As it should be.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Because the... Is it Kimmy Roberts? Is that her name?
- 11:17Speaker 4: Kimmy Roberts? Kimmy Robertson? Roberts or Robertson?
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm going to go with Roberts.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Lucy?
- 11:23Speaker 4: Lucy. Lucy from Twin Peaks. She was wearing the pin.
- 11:25Speaker 4: And of course the pin was in fact still wrapped
- 11:27Speaker 4: in plastic.
- 11:28Speaker 1: As it should be.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Well, duh.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Lucy was also adorable. She was wearing her Lucy-esque of glasses.
- 11:34Speaker 1: She was very cute. And then I... I remembered being
- 11:37Speaker 1: in other movies, but yeah, she had a shot of
- 11:40Speaker 1: her from Last American Virgin. And she was like wearing
- 11:42Speaker 1: a bikini or something. I'm just like, oh, it's cool. Lucy,
- 11:45Speaker 1: look at her. And I'm like, I can't talk to
- 11:47Speaker 1: her because then I'll just be like, why? Why did
- 11:49Speaker 1: you try to ruin my childhood and any chance of
- 11:50Speaker 1: ever having a relationship? Because Last American Virgin just crushes
- 11:54Speaker 1: souls and destroys dreams. And it's it's it's harsh. It's
- 11:58Speaker 1: a harsh movie.
- 12:00Speaker 4: That's life.
- 12:02Speaker 7: It is.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It's about as disturbing as life.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It's disturbing.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. You should all go watch it.
- 12:09Speaker 1: But it will change your life. Especially if you're a
- 12:14Speaker 1: youngster coming up. Thinking, maybe I want to get in
- 12:17Speaker 1: a relationship.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Nope.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Nope. Change my mind. Nope. No relationship for me. Thank you. No. Anyway.
- 12:25Speaker 1: She was very cool. She was hanging out. And as usual,
- 12:28Speaker 1: we saw our constantly rotating semi-family of convention people. Not
- 12:37Speaker 1: just the guests, but now just vendors. We saw a
- 12:40Speaker 1: previous guest on the show, Beldy, who I've not seen
- 12:42Speaker 1: in several years. It's just random people that we only
- 12:46Speaker 1: see at conventions.
- 12:48Speaker 4: The vendors.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Many vendors. Bel was one of them. We never had
- 12:54Speaker 1: Todd on. We saw Todd one time.
- 12:55Speaker 4: There's several vendors that we see. We've seen enough at
- 12:58Speaker 4: conventions that it's like, and whether or not they actually
- 13:01Speaker 4: remember our names or not which some of them do
- 13:03Speaker 4: some of them pretty sure don't but.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Uh and a random person that just like a random
- 13:08Speaker 1: goer that has run into you before and remembered.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Who you are because i'm awesome if you tell yourself
- 13:14Speaker 4: that i do all the time every.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Day yourself i do that a lot easily identifiable in
- 13:19Speaker 1: crowds like that weirdly.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Am i identifiable or is cory identifiable well people love
- 13:25Speaker 4: cory too but It was apparently some lady that I'd
- 13:29Speaker 4: ran into several days of the dead ago. And her husband.
- 13:32Speaker 4: And we apparently had ran into them at the convention.
- 13:36Speaker 4: And we started talking about Corey Haim. And I flaunted
- 13:38Speaker 4: my Corey Haim tattoo. And I had to find the
- 13:41Speaker 4: picture of me and Corey Haim. And it was a
- 13:43Speaker 4: delightful exchange. And they saw me. And I was like,
- 13:48Speaker 4: why are these people looking at me? Why are they
- 13:51Speaker 4: waving like they think they know me?
- 13:52Speaker 1: You're internationally known, Misty.
- 13:55Speaker 4: But am I known to rock a microphone?
- 13:57Speaker 1: No.
- 13:58Speaker 4: But anyway so it's always weird seeing people that I
- 14:02Speaker 4: mean I remember them once they started talking to me
- 14:03Speaker 4: but I am like the worst when it comes to
- 14:06Speaker 4: remembering people because half the time I just kind of
- 14:08Speaker 4: zone out like I'm literally I can look right at
- 14:11Speaker 4: you and just like whatever just because I'm not trying
- 14:13Speaker 4: to be an ass I'm just I'm probably thinking about
- 14:15Speaker 4: something else I'm probably trying to figure out where the
- 14:16Speaker 4: pens are you know and animal pens are a priority
- 14:20Speaker 4: so sometimes I just it's not like I was trying
- 14:22Speaker 4: to be like I don't and I just have a.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Horrible memory You're antisocial and you can't remember shit. So
- 14:30Speaker 1: trying to interact with people that you've met before, it
- 14:32Speaker 1: leads to trouble.
- 14:33Speaker 4: I mean, when she mentioned the conversation, I instantly remembered it.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I think it's just because you're known around the world.
- 14:43Speaker 4: I am. Or at least around the Days of the
- 14:46Speaker 4: Dead con with my gory tattoo. Good times.
- 14:51Speaker 1: So, before we get to our super awesome special guest,
- 14:54Speaker 1: hey Misty, have you seen anything lately?
- 14:57Speaker 4: Speaking of our special guest, I watched season two of Reaper,
- 15:04Speaker 4: which broke my heart because now I know there's none more.
- 15:08Speaker 1: We'll get to that later. We're working on that, but
- 15:10Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Because, yeah, it's like I put it off for a while.
- 15:12Speaker 4: I watched the first season and I loved it. And
- 15:14Speaker 4: then I put off the second season for a little
- 15:17Speaker 4: while because I knew that once I finished it, it
- 15:19Speaker 4: would be over. And I'm not good with that. I'm like,
- 15:23Speaker 4: it's sad and I get attachment issues and I'm just like,
- 15:27Speaker 4: The longer I put it off, the longer it'll last.
- 15:30Speaker 4: So I stayed up till like 2.30, 3 o'clock in
- 15:35Speaker 4: the morning last night, finishing up season two. I don't
- 15:38Speaker 4: know why I felt the need to do that or
- 15:40Speaker 4: why I didn't just start it earlier in the evening.
- 15:42Speaker 4: But no, we're going to wait till 10 o'clock to
- 15:44Speaker 4: finish the last five episodes. Good planning there, Misty.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You do a lot of crazy things.
- 15:50Speaker 4: And it was fantastic. I literally cannot say enough good
- 15:55Speaker 4: things about that show. I'm tired. It's been a long day.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I went to bed at 3 o'clock. I watched it
- 16:00Speaker 4: until 2.30. I went to bed at 3. And then
- 16:01Speaker 4: boyfriend snores, so I probably didn't get that much sleep
- 16:04Speaker 4: last night. But, yeah, it was amazing. It's one of those,
- 16:08Speaker 4: and it's just... I love that show. I love everything
- 16:13Speaker 4: about it. It's really one of the most well-written shows
- 16:18Speaker 4: that has possibly ever existed. Mostly in part to the cast, too. Because,
- 16:23Speaker 4: I mean, if they had cast anybody else as the devil,
- 16:27Speaker 4: I don't think that I would have cared.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah. It was so right. I do remember when they
- 16:31Speaker 1: first announced that, I'm like, well, of course. There is
- 16:36Speaker 1: no more perfect casting. Yes. This is exactly who you
- 16:39Speaker 1: need to cast as the devil.
- 16:40Speaker 4: He's so damn dastardly sometimes. And dashing. I know, right?
- 16:44Speaker 1: He is. He usually was on there. He was always
- 16:47Speaker 1: very well dressed, as I'm assuming the devil would be. Oh, yeah.
- 16:52Speaker 4: He was quite well-dressed today. Yeah. Quite snazzy. He wasn't wearing, like,
- 16:56Speaker 4: a tie or anything. He was wearing, like, a suit. Like, jacket.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, jacket. Shirt. He was probably wearing shoes. I wouldn't
- 17:05Speaker 1: look him that close.
- 17:05Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure there were vans.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Actually, yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I do kind of remember that. Because I was just like,
- 17:11Speaker 1: that's the kind of dorky thing I would wear, only
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'd prefer Chuck's. But, you know, he's free to go
- 17:16Speaker 1: the Vans route.
- 17:17Speaker 4: We are both currently wearing Chuck's.
- 17:18Speaker 6: We are both currently wearing Chuck's, like most of the time.
- 17:20Speaker 4: That's like, if I'm not at work, Chuck's.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Occasionally, like when it gets winter time, I've got some
- 17:26Speaker 1: nice boots. Oh, no. Some nice industrial boots that I.
- 17:29Speaker 4: But Chuck's is pretty much my go-to. All-terrain boots. Boyfriend
- 17:34Speaker 4: gives me shit because I go hiking in them. He's like,
- 17:36Speaker 4: Chucks aren't hiking shoes. I'm like, Chucks are everything shoes.
- 17:39Speaker 1: They're a sporting shoe. They were made for basketball.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Do you know technically they're a house shoe? That's what
- 17:49Speaker 4: I read a long time ago. Converse gets away with
- 17:52Speaker 4: paying less taxes on their shipments because the bottoms of
- 17:55Speaker 4: Chucks are slightly fuzzy and therefore can be classified as
- 17:58Speaker 4: house shoes instead of regular shoes. Have you ever wondered
- 18:01Speaker 4: why the bottom of Chucks are so much fuzzy?
- 18:03Speaker 1: What?
- 18:03Speaker 4: Don't look at me like that.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I don't remember noticing that they were fuzzy. Mine feel
- 18:07Speaker 1: kind of rubbery, but.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I don't know if mine still have any fuzz in them. Like,
- 18:12Speaker 4: see how it's a little bit fuzzier around here?
- 18:14Speaker 1: I mean, that inside part looks kind of weird, but
- 18:17Speaker 1: that's just because they're Chucks. They can do what they want.
- 18:19Speaker 4: That's what I read a long time ago. I mean,
- 18:21Speaker 4: I could be completing other bullshit, but that's what I've always.
- 18:23Speaker 1: If you're gonna wear a shoe around the house.
- 18:25Speaker 4: chucks is the way to go i'm wearing shoes in
- 18:26Speaker 4: the house we're not even.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Sponsored by chucks but i feel like we should be
- 18:29Speaker 1: because we talk about them all the damn time but
- 18:30Speaker 1: they're great shoes but if if ray wants to go
- 18:33Speaker 1: to the vans route you know that he is free
- 18:36Speaker 1: free to be you and me it's all good at
- 18:38Speaker 1: least they weren't velcro thank goodness but i've got one
- 18:43Speaker 1: i remembered it's been several weeks now i think when
- 18:46Speaker 1: i didn't have anything last time i totally forgot about
- 18:49Speaker 1: it which may say a little about this movie But
- 18:51Speaker 1: I thought it would be good because if I remember,
- 18:53Speaker 1: I think you mentioned seeing it. I saw Winchester.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I did not see it. I did not want to
- 19:00Speaker 4: see it.
- 19:01Speaker 6: Maybe you just complained about the trailer.
- 19:03Speaker 4: I complained about it because they cheapened the entire story.
- 19:05Speaker 4: And it just seems like it's a whole fucking movie
- 19:07Speaker 4: based on jump scares. Which considering the actual history and
- 19:12Speaker 4: the movie itself, the movie could have been more interesting
- 19:15Speaker 4: and the story is way more interesting. But it seems
- 19:17Speaker 4: like they played it as a cheap jump scare movie.
- 19:20Speaker 1: It's funny, because I wouldn't have categorized it as a
- 19:22Speaker 1: jump scare movie at all.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Well, from the trailer, that's what I got. It looks
- 19:25Speaker 4: like it just relies on.
- 19:26Speaker 1: There could be a few, but they're not standout. I
- 19:31Speaker 1: don't really remember that being the way that it felt
- 19:35Speaker 1: like they were trying to take it. That's my thing.
- 19:38Speaker 1: The takeaway is, first and foremost, what the hell is
- 19:41Speaker 1: Helen Mirren thinking? I assume she lost a bet or something.
- 19:45Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:46Speaker 6: Because she seems like way above and beyond.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Not this idea, not this genre, but the level that
- 19:53Speaker 1: this movie delivers is not Helen Mirren level. No offense
- 19:57Speaker 1: to them, but it's just not.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I did not. I just have not had a real interest.
- 20:01Speaker 1: But it's not bad. It's just like by the end,
- 20:04Speaker 1: I was like, Meh, okay.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I'll Netflix see it eventually.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's not... Again, I wouldn't tell people
- 20:09Speaker 1: not to watch it, but I'm like, don't expect much?
- 20:12Speaker 6: I mean, there's some cool... Again, it's mostly just the
- 20:15Speaker 6: idea of the house and the idea of the concept,
- 20:17Speaker 6: which is all real, so, like, the movie itself doesn't
- 20:20Speaker 6: really get points for that because they just took that
- 20:22Speaker 6: from the real world. So the idea of what's going
- 20:25Speaker 6: on is cool, but that's a real thing.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I mean, the actors, the other couple of actors are
- 20:31Speaker 1: just kind of a handful of regular, you know, of
- 20:33Speaker 1: the regular cast. There's a bunch of random servants and
- 20:36Speaker 1: people building stuff. But for the most part, it's just
- 20:38Speaker 1: two or three other people. And, like, they're fine, you know. But, like,
- 20:42Speaker 1: none of them are, like, Helen Mirren level. Like, even then,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I was just like, what's going on in this movie?
- 20:48Speaker 1: So by the end, I'm like, okay, you decided to go.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Because it's sort of a setting up the story and
- 20:53Speaker 1: setting up her backstory of, like, why she's doing what
- 20:56Speaker 1: she's doing. And then it gets midway in and, like, okay,
- 20:59Speaker 1: now you have to, like, pick a direction of how
- 21:01Speaker 1: it's going to end. So they do. And I'm just like, oh,
- 21:04Speaker 1: you went with that. All right. It's not, again, I'm
- 21:07Speaker 1: not like, oh, I hated it. I'm just like, all right,
- 21:10Speaker 1: that's the way you chose. Because you have to kind
- 21:13Speaker 1: of find a way, a path to take it down
- 21:15Speaker 1: for the finale-ish thing. And it happened. I'm like, all right, whatever.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So not really a rave review, but it's a review.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I saw it. Hand going, eh. You can't see how
- 21:29Speaker 1: it's going, but it's back and forth. I see it.
- 21:31Speaker 4: It's wishy-washy.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So, yeah, Winchester. You do see a lot of guns.
- 21:39Speaker 4: I've been there. I've been to the Winchester Mansion. It's crazy. Again,
- 21:45Speaker 4: when you're in there, does it feel as big as
- 21:47Speaker 4: it supposedly is? Or that, or we just didn't go
- 21:49Speaker 4: to a lot of places? I don't know.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Again, the concept of what's going on, that was kind
- 21:54Speaker 1: of like I was still kind of on board the
- 21:55Speaker 1: first half hour or so when they're still explaining... what
- 21:59Speaker 1: she's doing, and then that there is a reason why
- 22:01Speaker 1: she's doing what she's doing. When it seemed like, again,
- 22:04Speaker 1: the way I always heard it in the real world
- 22:05Speaker 1: was just like she seemed like a crazy person who
- 22:08Speaker 1: was doing the things that she's doing. But when you
- 22:10Speaker 1: put it in context of at least the way they
- 22:12Speaker 1: present it in this movie, I'm like, okay, well, it
- 22:14Speaker 1: actually does make sense why she was doing these crazy things.
- 22:17Speaker 4: And what way they put it, because I mean, I
- 22:19Speaker 4: know what they told us at the mansion is that
- 22:21Speaker 4: she was very heavy into psychics and the psychics told
- 22:23Speaker 4: her to appease the spirits of all the people that
- 22:25Speaker 4: had died. from the weapons that her husband helped make
- 22:33Speaker 4: and invent to appease the spirits because her husband and
- 22:38Speaker 4: her son died. So she figured the vengeful spirits were
- 22:42Speaker 4: out to get her. So when she talked to the
- 22:43Speaker 4: spiritualist or the psychic or whatever, he told her that
- 22:47Speaker 4: to appease the spirits, they had to continually keep working
- 22:49Speaker 4: on the house. And as long as she worked on
- 22:51Speaker 4: the house, everything would be okay and that they would
- 22:53Speaker 4: be pleased.
- 22:55Speaker 1: See, it was even more... pinned down than that and
- 22:58Speaker 1: I kind of like the way that they took it
- 22:59Speaker 1: within the movie which was something again it's been a
- 23:02Speaker 1: few weeks so I'm paraphrasing or making up my own
- 23:05Speaker 1: version of it but basically it's something in the effect
- 23:07Speaker 1: of she was almost like she would almost hear what
- 23:12Speaker 1: was going on with this current whatever a new spirit
- 23:14Speaker 1: would show up she would kind of like have you
- 23:17Speaker 1: know visions and conversations and stuff and she would figure
- 23:20Speaker 1: out what its story was and then was trying to
- 23:23Speaker 1: help them so she would actually like build rooms for
- 23:26Speaker 1: them And some of them had ways that they could
- 23:28Speaker 1: work through their problems and move on to the next
- 23:30Speaker 1: plane of existence or whatever they were doing. And there
- 23:32Speaker 1: were other ones that were like angry spirits that needed
- 23:36Speaker 1: to be walled up. So that's why there would be
- 23:38Speaker 1: rooms that would just be like locked up forever was
- 23:41Speaker 1: because the spirit was trapped in there to keep it
- 23:44Speaker 1: from attacking people or whatever.
- 23:46Speaker 4: I don't remember there being rooms that were specifically locked up.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Aside from the ones that maybe had been damaged during
- 23:51Speaker 4: the earthquake.
- 23:52Speaker 1: And it was also like when she would like build
- 23:54Speaker 1: something and then like tear it down and move on
- 23:57Speaker 1: and build something else in its place that was also
- 23:59Speaker 1: like a new spirit would move in like she would
- 24:01Speaker 1: finish like one would be dealt with she would take
- 24:03Speaker 1: care of that problem the spirit would be gone so
- 24:05Speaker 1: we didn't need that room anymore.
- 24:06Speaker 4: So the house becomes a monster of the week story
- 24:09Speaker 4: pretty much.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But they don't do that we get to like one
- 24:12Speaker 1: kind of they sort of focus on one by the
- 24:14Speaker 1: end of it i guess it would work better as
- 24:16Speaker 1: a tv series actually and you could literally go through
- 24:19Speaker 1: and each week a new ghost would show up a
- 24:21Speaker 1: new backstory and so we need to like Friday the
- 24:24Speaker 1: 13th TV series, this thing.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Supernatural with the Winchesters at the Winchester.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Oh, for the love of God.
- 24:29Speaker 6: There's more than enough Supernatural.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm going with mine. Like 14 fucking seasons. Antiques and stuff.
- 24:34Speaker 1: That's what we need in a horror series. More antiques. Yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I guess so that became like the reasoning why she
- 24:42Speaker 1: was doing these crazy things. Why she'd set up this, oh,
- 24:44Speaker 1: we're going to build a gazebo. And then like a
- 24:47Speaker 1: month and a half later, okay, tear down that gazebo.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And it's because in actuality, she'd finished with this problem
- 24:52Speaker 1: spirit and it moved on to its next plane. And
- 24:55Speaker 1: we don't need that anymore. And some new thing moved
- 24:57Speaker 1: in and we need a new room built to survive.
- 24:59Speaker 1: sort of cater to this ghost that needs to go there.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I'm not sure I'm feeling this.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Yeah, again, I don't know that that's true to the
- 25:05Speaker 1: real story, but I thought it was an interesting thing
- 25:08Speaker 1: within the context of what was going on here, and
- 25:10Speaker 1: it made her seem not like a crazy person, unless
- 25:13Speaker 1: you don't.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Believe in the kind of stuff she believes in, but
- 25:15Speaker 6: at least it followed logic.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Like, I was kind of okay with the fact that
- 25:18Speaker 1: it wasn't just insanity, it was for a reason, and
- 25:22Speaker 1: very specific reasons why she was doing these seemingly to
- 25:25Speaker 1: other people in the world crazy, crazy things.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I was okay with that part. Then it just kind
- 25:31Speaker 1: of gets boring in the middle, and the wrap-up is, eh, okay.
- 25:35Speaker 2: So, I don't know.
- 25:37Speaker 1: There's some cool visuals. The special effects, for what I'm
- 25:40Speaker 1: assuming is a pretty minimal budget movie, look pretty decent.
- 25:42Speaker 6: So, I don't remember any of that being a problem.
- 25:44Speaker 4: They spent all their money getting Helen Mirren.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's it. Or I'm sticking with my
- 25:49Speaker 1: lost a bit.
- 25:50Speaker 4: I don't know. I watched a couple of movies.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Alright, what would they be?
- 25:54Speaker 4: One I know you already discussed, I'm pretty sure, that
- 25:56Speaker 4: would be the, uh, The Jumanji movie, the new, the
- 26:00Speaker 4: rock version of Jumanji.
- 26:02Speaker 1: All right. What was, wait, I think we covered on
- 26:05Speaker 1: a previous episode, you hadn't seen the original.
- 26:07Speaker 4: I had not seen the original.
- 26:08Speaker 1: You still haven't seen.
- 26:09Speaker 4: I've not, I still haven't seen the original.
- 26:11Speaker 1: So to me, this will be interesting because I'd seen
- 26:13Speaker 1: the other one. So what is your take on it
- 26:15Speaker 1: as a coming in fresh into the Jumanji world?
- 26:18Speaker 4: I don't feel like I lost much.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think you need it, but
- 26:21Speaker 1: I just want your version of it was not having
- 26:23Speaker 1: seen the other one.
- 26:24Speaker 4: I guess I didn't have anything to compare it to.
- 26:26Speaker 4: So I didn't have the story, the original story. I
- 26:28Speaker 4: didn't have, you know, it's hard to compete with Robin Williams.
- 26:31Speaker 4: He was, I mean, he was Robin Williams, you know.
- 26:34Speaker 1: It still isn't like a typical Robin Williams movie. It
- 26:36Speaker 1: is one of those that it was weird that they
- 26:38Speaker 1: cast him. I think he's, you know, he's good at it.
- 26:40Speaker 1: He's fun in most things he's in, but it didn't
- 26:43Speaker 1: have to be Robin where so many other Robin Williams movies,
- 26:46Speaker 1: like it just would not float. It flat out wouldn't
- 26:48Speaker 1: work without Robin Williams doing the Robin Williams thing that
- 26:52Speaker 1: holds the plot together. Where this one, again, you can
- 26:54Speaker 1: substitute in The Rock and it kind of works. I
- 26:57Speaker 1: think you could substitute in a whole new group of
- 26:59Speaker 1: people and do another sequel and the idea is still
- 27:01Speaker 1: what kind of sells the movie. Robin Williams was just
- 27:04Speaker 1: like a bonus because he's awesome and he's Robin Williams.
- 27:07Speaker 4: I think the thing that most impressed me is that
- 27:08Speaker 4: I could not remember the last time that I was
- 27:10Speaker 4: not annoyed with Jack Black.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm hit and miss. There are performances I love
- 27:15Speaker 1: from Jack Black and then there's times when he just
- 27:18Speaker 1: feels like he's cashing a check in like He just
- 27:21Speaker 1: does the Jack Black thing that he knows people want
- 27:23Speaker 1: from a Jack Black role. I still don't want to.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Watch the Goosebumps movie just because he's in it.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that does seem like a weird take.
- 27:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 1: But Jumanji, I thought he was a lot of fun.
- 27:34Speaker 1: And again, I think I said before, I was like,
- 27:36Speaker 1: a guy playing a teenage girl could go horribly wrong.
- 27:40Speaker 1: He could just be really cheesy and over the top.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And I think he does a nice balance where you
- 27:45Speaker 1: do kind of buy that he's tapping into some sort
- 27:48Speaker 1: of feminine thing.
- 27:49Speaker 6: But at the same time, he's kind of hilarious. Nothing's
- 27:52Speaker 6: funnier than him going to.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Take a pee.
- 27:55Speaker 4: That was pretty funny.
- 27:58Speaker 1: His line to the other girl was the funniest damn
- 28:00Speaker 1: thing in the movie. So, yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 4: I don't remember what it was. What was it?
- 28:06Speaker 1: I think it's something. I don't remember what's her face.
- 28:09Speaker 1: The redhead girl's name.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Karen Gillan?
- 28:12Speaker 1: Whatever her name is. She's like... Yeah, it is Martha.
- 28:15Speaker 6: She's like, Martha, come look at my penis.
- 28:19Speaker 4: That was pretty funny.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I'm like, well, I guess had you never encountered that before,
- 28:23Speaker 1: that would be, you know, not only your response, but
- 28:26Speaker 1: you'd want to share it. You know, hey, check this out.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Look what I got. I just got it. Oh, man. Yep.
- 28:33Speaker 1: He was funny. In the rock. Karen Gillian's badass.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you can't beat Karen.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Karen Gillan's just awesome.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Usually I'm pretty anti the redheads, which we've all heard before.
- 28:42Speaker 1: The gingers.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I'm anti-gingers. I'm okay with redheads now. There's a difference,
- 28:45Speaker 4: because there's a fucking difference.
- 28:47Speaker 1: There's kind of a difference, yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Ed Sheeran's a ginger. Fuck that guy. But Karen Gillan's
- 28:52Speaker 4: a redhead.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I think he's fine, but Karen Gillan is extra fine.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. I mean, I've loved everything that I've seen
- 28:57Speaker 4: her in, which I've only, like, three things. But Oculus
- 29:00Speaker 4: was fucking amazing.
- 29:01Speaker 1: She's great in that.
- 29:02Speaker 4: And I loved when she was on Doctor Who.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. And Guardians of the Galaxy.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I always forget that she's in it.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I know, because she's unidentified. That's the part that I'm
- 29:10Speaker 1: just like, I can't believe she took that role. Number one,
- 29:13Speaker 1: she shaved her head. Number two, she went through God
- 29:16Speaker 1: knows how many hours of makeup. And then on top
- 29:18Speaker 1: of that, you don't even get the bonus of like, look,
- 29:21Speaker 1: I'm a big star in this movie. You see me
- 29:23Speaker 1: on screen all the time. Like, you do. You don't
- 29:24Speaker 1: know it's me most of the time. If you didn't
- 29:27Speaker 1: see the poster out front with my name slapped on it,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you probably wouldn't even ID me. But again, that points
- 29:32Speaker 1: to her. She totally like, becomes that character so much
- 29:36Speaker 1: i kind of forget it's her she's a badass yep
- 29:38Speaker 1: she is and shows it off in this movie. Her
- 29:41Speaker 1: crazy fighting skills.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Her ruby roundhouse up in that bitch. Was it dance fighting?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Dance fighting.
- 29:48Speaker 4: That's pretty great.
- 29:52Speaker 1: One of my favorite parts about it is because it's
- 29:55Speaker 1: moved into the gaming world now, You get gaming jokes like, hey,
- 29:59Speaker 1: he's a non-player. Don't worry about it. He's like, he'll
- 30:02Speaker 1: just keep saying that. Don't go back over there. Or the,
- 30:06Speaker 1: what was the other? There's a couple of nice little
- 30:08Speaker 1: gamer nods along the way that I'm just like, that's
- 30:12Speaker 1: fun because it's not being overly in your face self-aware,
- 30:15Speaker 1: but it's self-aware enough that the gamer geeks watching it
- 30:18Speaker 1: are like, okay, there's a joke for me. Like it's
- 30:20Speaker 1: specifically for gamer.
- 30:23Speaker 4: And how much do I love Nick Jonas?
- 30:26Speaker 1: Nick Jonas is pretty damn cool. He is. Again, I
- 30:31Speaker 1: expected him to just be a minor little side character.
- 30:35Speaker 1: He's a pretty sizable character halfway in. I kind of
- 30:38Speaker 1: like his story. The weird wraparound portion of it. It's
- 30:41Speaker 1: pretty cool, actually.
- 30:43Speaker 4: I'm usually not the comedy type.
- 30:48Speaker 6: This falls somewhere in between with everything.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Like action and comedy?
- 30:51Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like it's action, it's.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Comedy, it's video game weirdness.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Usually I'm just like, god damn it, there better be
- 30:55Speaker 4: some horror or I'm not even fucking ballering.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you've said that word for word before.
- 31:00Speaker 1: But this one, yeah, I think it falls so in
- 31:03Speaker 1: the middle of a couple of different genres that it's
- 31:06Speaker 1: kind of its own weird thing and it works on
- 31:09Speaker 1: all levels. I was surprised how good it was.
- 31:11Speaker 4: I gave it two thumbs up. I've never even seen
- 31:13Speaker 4: the original, so I mean, I don't know if watching
- 31:15Speaker 4: the original would be like, if it would make it
- 31:18Speaker 4: any different, if it would enhance it any, or if
- 31:19Speaker 4: it's just kind of, that's the way it is, or
- 31:21Speaker 4: if it's just, I mean, I don't know if it
- 31:23Speaker 4: would make me like the second one.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I don't think, I don't think it would make a
- 31:26Speaker 1: difference because that's, that's what I thought was so cool
- 31:28Speaker 1: about it is it's, it acknowledges the other one happened,
- 31:32Speaker 1: but it does not tie to it almost at all.
- 31:34Speaker 1: With the exception of like, again, a kind of tie
- 31:37Speaker 1: in from the beginning that like picks up almost where
- 31:40Speaker 1: the other one left off, but in its own, like
- 31:42Speaker 1: it picks up and goes an entirely different direction. And
- 31:44Speaker 1: then there's a reference to the other character for, like,
- 31:48Speaker 1: a second midway in. Like, the name on the tree. Which,
- 31:52Speaker 1: whether or not that meant anything to you, but, like,
- 31:54Speaker 1: it is the character from the first movie. What's his name?
- 31:58Speaker 7: Robin Williams.
- 31:58Speaker 6: It just says Robin Williams was here. That's what it
- 32:01Speaker 6: says on the tree.
- 32:02Speaker 1: And, like, basically it's just acknowledging that more or less, like,
- 32:06Speaker 1: there's a section where, you know, his character like, disappears
- 32:09Speaker 1: into Jumanji land and, like, now you see this is
- 32:12Speaker 1: where he was, essentially. Now it's just been morphed with
- 32:15Speaker 1: video games rules on top of that but the Jumanji
- 32:18Speaker 1: jungle idea like seems to exist and whether it becomes
- 32:22Speaker 1: a board game or a video game or whatever the
- 32:24Speaker 1: hell it's going to become next like it's just the
- 32:26Speaker 1: alternate reality jungle thing is just sort of always there
- 32:30Speaker 1: and always exists and I thought that was kind of
- 32:32Speaker 1: cool that was a cool tie in but it doesn't
- 32:35Speaker 1: make you need to see the other one at all
- 32:36Speaker 1: like it just sort of acknowledges.
- 32:39Speaker 4: I liked it two thumbs up if I had more
- 32:41Speaker 4: thumbs I'd give it more thumbs I also watched another
- 32:44Speaker 4: movie Which one? I set myself up for this one.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 32:47Speaker 1: What have you done?
- 32:49Speaker 4: It was boyfriend's birthday.
- 32:50Speaker 1: That's right. I told you not to even tell. Let's
- 32:54Speaker 1: just get to it later.
- 32:55Speaker 6: But I knew you were going to be in trouble
- 32:57Speaker 6: because it's one of those.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Maybe every couple is like this, but you cross over
- 33:03Speaker 1: in a lot of areas because you're both geeks. But
- 33:05Speaker 1: there's always some things that you're not going to see
- 33:08Speaker 1: exactly eye to eye on. And there's going to be
- 33:10Speaker 1: some like... No, I don't want to go down that path.
- 33:13Speaker 1: And then the other one has to go sit by
- 33:14Speaker 1: themselves and watch it kind of thing. You definitely cross
- 33:18Speaker 1: over in a few areas like that where neither of
- 33:21Speaker 1: you want anything to do with the other thing. And
- 33:23Speaker 1: I'm assuming we're coming to one of those right now.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Because as soon as I say, well, what do you
- 33:29Speaker 4: want to watch? As soon as it came out of
- 33:31Speaker 4: my mouth, I'm like, oh shit, what did I just
- 33:32Speaker 4: set myself up for? What have I done?
- 33:34Speaker 1: Sucker.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Because literally as soon as it came out of my mouth,
- 33:37Speaker 4: I know what I want to watch. I know what
- 33:38Speaker 4: I want to watch. I'm like, son of a bitch.
- 33:41Speaker 4: What did I just get myself into? What have I
- 33:44Speaker 4: been fighting all these years? I know you gotta guess.
- 33:49Speaker 1: So many things. I don't know.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I gave you a big hint earlier. He's not Beastmaster.
- 33:55Speaker 4: He is no Beastmaster. Fucking Conan the Barbarian.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he has mentioned that many times over the years.
- 34:02Speaker 4: How many times? How damn many?
- 34:05Speaker 1: And now it makes sense because he randomly posted a
- 34:08Speaker 1: meme from Conan the other day.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I saw that and went, why? Where did that come from?
- 34:13Speaker 1: It's just the besmirch the women or whatever. I'm pretty
- 34:18Speaker 1: sure I'm getting that line wrong.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty sure.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. That whole little line.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Lamentations of your women. Oh, Lord.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I like mine better. I mean, I recently, in the
- 34:30Speaker 1: last few years, went back and rewatched it for an episode.
- 34:32Speaker 1: I was okay.
- 34:34Speaker 6: Actually, I remembered it.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Being different than it was so i don't know what
- 34:38Speaker 1: was your take on it having not seen it at
- 34:41Speaker 1: all or knowing as little as you could help to
- 34:43Speaker 1: know about it it's.
- 34:45Speaker 4: No beast master well because to me most things can't
- 34:48Speaker 4: be it's another one of those things that you fall
- 34:50Speaker 4: into two categories you're either elvis or the beatles or
- 34:53Speaker 4: you're fucking beast master or conan and i was born
- 34:56Speaker 4: and raised on on beast master it's like i.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Feel like there's people out there that like both I mean,
- 35:02Speaker 1: there are dorks that grew up in the VHS era
- 35:04Speaker 1: and just watched anything with a sword on the front
- 35:07Speaker 1: of it, you know. So they probably saw both and
- 35:09Speaker 1: were just like, cool, people getting stabbed and shit.
- 35:12Speaker 4: I'm very passionate about this.
- 35:14Speaker 7: Okay.
- 35:15Speaker 4: I'm Team Beastmaster.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I'm Team Beastmaster. I mean, between the two, I'm still
- 35:20Speaker 1: Team Beastmaster. But I respect what was going on with Conan.
- 35:24Speaker 6: So what is your issues with Conan?
- 35:26Speaker 4: It just didn't seem to have any, like, real development
- 35:29Speaker 4: for the characters for me. Whereas at least, I mean... Beastmaster,
- 35:32Speaker 4: you know what he's after, pretty much. You know, he's
- 35:35Speaker 4: going to go do stuff, and he's going to be
- 35:37Speaker 4: awesome about it. And he has the things, and he
- 35:39Speaker 4: can talk to the animals. You don't know why Conan's
- 35:41Speaker 4: going anywhere. I mean, you kind of get the idea
- 35:43Speaker 4: that he wants to go get revenge for his parents' deaths,
- 35:45Speaker 4: but he never really talks about it. All of a sudden,
- 35:48Speaker 4: you're at the end, and he's like, oh, you're going
- 35:49Speaker 4: to die! And I'm like, dude, your parents did not
- 35:51Speaker 4: talk like that. Where did you get that shitty accent?
- 35:54Speaker 5: Austria.
- 35:54Speaker 4: So I was watching, when his dad was talking in
- 35:58Speaker 4: the beginning, I'm listening, and I'm like, alright, your dad
- 36:00Speaker 4: doesn't have that accent. We never really hear his mom
- 36:02Speaker 4: say anything. I'm like, maybe she had a crazy ass accent.
- 36:04Speaker 4: I don't know. It didn't seem, there was no real development.
- 36:09Speaker 4: I didn't care about the characters at all.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I can see having this connect because that was my, again,
- 36:15Speaker 1: I had watched it as a kid and was like, cool, swords.
- 36:18Speaker 1: And then going back and re-watching it just in the
- 36:20Speaker 1: last few years, I was like, it's way more like
- 36:23Speaker 1: art house. Like the director is like, the director is, is,
- 36:27Speaker 1: is trying to make, you know, Excalibur. He's trying to
- 36:29Speaker 1: make an art house film that also happens to have
- 36:32Speaker 1: a dude with a sword that occasionally like beheads people
- 36:34Speaker 1: and shit. But like, it's still like, there's not a
- 36:37Speaker 1: lot of talking. It's, it's cool visuals, but like, it's
- 36:40Speaker 1: not really heavy on explaining the story. Like it is
- 36:44Speaker 1: trying to be more visual and more like cool and artsy,
- 36:47Speaker 1: but like, it doesn't fall into the normal sword and sandal, like,
- 36:51Speaker 1: fun and game this kind of stuff like it's way
- 36:53Speaker 1: more artsy than I remembered it being as a kid
- 36:56Speaker 1: and that's the difference like Conan the Destroyer is way
- 37:00Speaker 1: more mainstream like sword and sandal VHS movies that I
- 37:04Speaker 1: again grew up watching tons of we didn't get that
- 37:06Speaker 1: for you it feels it feels pretty much so again
- 37:09Speaker 1: you might actually have fun with that that one also
- 37:11Speaker 1: has like a motley crew of goofballs which include like
- 37:14Speaker 1: Grace Jones and, uh, Wilt Chamberlain and, uh, what's the
- 37:20Speaker 1: princess is, uh, Olivia Diabo.
- 37:24Speaker 6: So, I mean, like everybody, like, again, if you're a geek,
- 37:26Speaker 6: you're like, Oh, it's them.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Oh, it's them.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Look at this.
- 37:28Speaker 1: So like, it's a nice little crew and they have
- 37:31Speaker 1: like the, that one dude that was every TV show
- 37:33Speaker 1: for years is like stealing stuff. And the other guy's
- 37:36Speaker 1: the sword man who also happens to be super tall
- 37:38Speaker 1: for some weird reason. I don't know. It's like, it
- 37:41Speaker 1: is so.
- 37:41Speaker 6: Much more a conventional, uh, adventure kind of a sword.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Movie that I think most people respond, which is funny
- 37:48Speaker 1: because between the two, it got way worse of a reputation. Like,
- 37:53Speaker 1: I guess the old school Conan fans didn't like that one,
- 37:55Speaker 1: but I'm like, to me, it's way more of a
- 37:57Speaker 1: like acceptable mainstream action movie than like what the artsy
- 38:01Speaker 1: Conan original movie was.
- 38:03Speaker 4: I just got tired of it because they kept cutting
- 38:04Speaker 4: out the action. Like it'd be like, Oh, there's a
- 38:07Speaker 4: pack of wolves coming at him.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Cutscene.
- 38:09Speaker 4: All right. Now he's wearing the fucking wolves. You don't
- 38:12Speaker 4: see any of the action. Or when the girl's sneaking
- 38:14Speaker 4: up on the meeting of all the snake people. And
- 38:18Speaker 4: she's sneaking up on one of the girls. Next thing
- 38:20Speaker 4: you know, she's in the outfit. There was no scuffle.
- 38:24Speaker 4: All of a sudden, that girl's gone. She's in her outfit.
- 38:27Speaker 4: You're expecting way too much out of me. I want
- 38:30Speaker 4: to see what's going on sometimes. I want to know
- 38:32Speaker 4: that he fucking earned them fucking wolves.
- 38:34Speaker 6: I think because they know, the wolves would kick his ass.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Arnold can't take on some wolves.
- 38:39Speaker 4: There's a whole bunch of them, too. I mean, I
- 38:41Speaker 4: just didn't like that. Just the whole, don't lead me
- 38:44Speaker 4: out of the fucking action. If I have committed to
- 38:47Speaker 4: this fucking movie, you owe me.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Arnold's not Liam Neeson. Can't take on a pack of wolves.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Fucking A. It just, I don't know. It just didn't
- 38:54Speaker 4: feel like as, I didn't have any connection to any
- 38:57Speaker 4: of the characters.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see that. I can see that. Again,
- 39:01Speaker 1: there's aspects of it I like, but it's certainly not
- 39:04Speaker 1: my go-to sword and sandal movie. I think it's not as.
- 39:07Speaker 6: Much fun as so many of the other ones ended
- 39:10Speaker 6: up being. Kind of after the fact.
- 39:11Speaker 1: A lot of them came after Conan, kind of mimicking
- 39:14Speaker 1: what they started with, and then added a whole lot
- 39:17Speaker 1: more fun to it, if you ask me. Yeah, I
- 39:20Speaker 1: can see that.
- 39:21Speaker 4: I'm still going to be Beastmaster all the way.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. You can't. I mean, you can't go wrong
- 39:25Speaker 1: with Beastmaster. It's got everything.
- 39:28Speaker 4: It's got ferrets.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Ferrets?
- 39:30Speaker 1: And black tigers and hawks.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Oh my.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 39:36Speaker 4: I kept waiting for the rave scene and it like
- 39:38Speaker 4: never happened. I was waiting for the glow sticks and.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I think you're only watching it via like JPEGs.
- 39:46Speaker 4: GIFs.
- 39:47Speaker 1: GIFs and JPEGs and memes and lamentings of the women.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Lambasting of the women besmirchings of the women i mean
- 39:59Speaker 4: it wasn't bad i didn't hate it i wasn't like
- 40:01Speaker 4: oh my god but i just it's.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Again it's it is not what i remembered it being
- 40:06Speaker 1: and it's definitely not what i came to expect from
- 40:09Speaker 1: a lot of the more silly you know fun over
- 40:13Speaker 1: the top sword and sandal kind.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Of movies And the guy turning into a snake was
- 40:17Speaker 4: just horrible.
- 40:18Speaker 1: It wasn't the best effects, I'll tell you.
- 40:20Speaker 4: It was horrible effects. Their bad guy was no Rip Torn,
- 40:24Speaker 4: I'll tell you that right fucking now.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Not everybody can beat Rip Torn.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Is he still alive?
- 40:28Speaker 1: Didn't he rob a bank or something?
- 40:30Speaker 4: I wouldn't doubt it. Dude's crazy.
- 40:31Speaker 1: He does a lot of crazy shit, that Rip Torn.
- 40:34Speaker 1: In fact, he tries to kill babies is what I heard.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Throws them into the fire. Makes them toasty.
- 40:39Speaker 1: He's a crazy old bastard.
- 40:40Speaker 4: As they tend to be.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Speaking of throwing babies on the fire, let's take a break.
- 40:45Speaker 1: You can get a snack if you want. Roast a
- 40:47Speaker 1: baby or popcorn or whatever you're into.
- 40:50Speaker 4: You know somebody actually roasts a baby, we're going to
- 40:53Speaker 4: get in so much trouble. Don't roast a baby. Service
- 41:00Speaker 4: announcement from Misty.
- 41:02Speaker 6: Pretty sad when we have to have you doing the
- 41:04Speaker 6: safety announcements.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Have some, I don't know. I'd say fried chicken or something,
- 41:11Speaker 1: but then people don't want you killing chicken. I don't know.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Go have a carrot or something. We'll be back.
- 41:17Speaker 4: I swear this wizard will fall.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Cause this has begun.
- 41:24Speaker 2: They murdered them all.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I'm the last one.
- 41:27Speaker 2: I issued the call.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Revenge for my mom.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I pray to you, God.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear
- 41:47Speaker 4: the lamentation of the women. Hungry?
- 42:01Speaker 7: Then treat yourself to a luscious Castleberry barbecue sandwich, prepared
- 42:05Speaker 7: in that traditional southern way. Doesn't that look good? Wait
- 42:09Speaker 7: till you taste it. Rich and savory with that open
- 42:12Speaker 7: pit barbecue flavor. Castleberry slow cooks the choicest cuts of
- 42:16Speaker 7: meats over an open pit of smoldering oak coals. Cooks
- 42:19Speaker 7: them to their juiciest peak of perfection. Along with your
- 42:22Speaker 7: choice of hot coffee, a cold soft drink, or some
- 42:25Speaker 7: wonderful ice cream that you'll also find in our snack
- 42:28Speaker 7: bar to tempt your palate. And remember, Castleberry Barbecues are
- 42:32Speaker 7: not just meat with barbecue sauce. They're pit-cooked barbecues.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Hey, Sterling.
- 42:45Speaker 2: What's up?
- 42:46Speaker 1: You like coffee.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I do like coffee.
- 42:48Speaker 1: In fact, we're drinking coffee right now.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Funny enough, we are.
- 42:51Speaker 1: You know where you should get your coffee.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Where should I get my coffee?
- 42:54Speaker 1: I think you should go to Heine Brothers and get
- 42:57Speaker 1: your coffee.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Heine Brothers?
- 42:58Speaker 5: I think I used to work there.
- 42:59Speaker 1: You probably did. A lot of people in this town.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Well, that's what Louisville is.
- 43:02Speaker 1: They're kind of like taking over. Actually, driving this past week,
- 43:07Speaker 1: there was a place that used to be. I won't
- 43:10Speaker 1: even out them as the failed massive franchise that they are.
- 43:13Speaker 1: But they had this place, and it was sitting next
- 43:15Speaker 1: to the road, and they sold coffee, and now suddenly
- 43:19Speaker 1: they're gone.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Actually, I think I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I just noticed it.
- 43:22Speaker 6: This week, and now they're gone.
- 43:24Speaker 1: It's empty, but it's already painted up with the Heine
- 43:27Speaker 1: Brothers sign. Coming soon, another Heine Brothers location.
- 43:30Speaker 3: You know, you say they're taking over. I say they're
- 43:33Speaker 3: our number one community coffee.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Just saying they are and I mean that literally yeah
- 43:37Speaker 1: I mean I that is kind of why I'm like
- 43:40Speaker 1: you know it is interesting how much they've they've continued
- 43:44Speaker 1: to spread and become super successful but yet they're completely
- 43:49Speaker 1: independent they they were started Out of this town by
- 43:53Speaker 1: a couple of guys and they came up with this
- 43:56Speaker 1: process and this general idea of what they wanted to create.
- 43:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:59Speaker 1: And it's kind of cool that it's been accepted by
- 44:02Speaker 1: people and like people signed on and like, not only
- 44:04Speaker 1: do we like your coffee, but we like the idea
- 44:07Speaker 1: of this little community that you've created around this coffee
- 44:11Speaker 1: shop and this series of now many coffee shops.
- 44:14Speaker 5: Sure.
- 44:14Speaker 3: And moreover, Mike Mays, you know, one of our prominent
- 44:17Speaker 3: leading businessmen in the, in the community. And I, one
- 44:19Speaker 3: thing I can definitely say is that, you know, Heine
- 44:21Speaker 3: Brothers has, like many local businesses, been deeply involved in
- 44:25Speaker 3: charity work and stuff around town, and that's great. But
- 44:28Speaker 3: the thing I like most about buying Heine Brothers coffee,
- 44:30Speaker 3: if you don't mind me saying, is the fact that
- 44:34Speaker 3: I know that the person behind the counter that's getting
- 44:36Speaker 3: paid with the wage from this, like my first job
- 44:38Speaker 3: when I got to Louisville was working at Heine Brothers.
- 44:41Speaker 3: their first job out of college or in college or
- 44:44Speaker 3: whatever is.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Working at hiding.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 44:48Speaker 3: So to my mind, uh, the nice thing is just
- 44:51Speaker 3: you knowing that, you know, you're talking to people who
- 44:53Speaker 3: are going through a cycle that I think is actually
- 44:55Speaker 3: part of the common life that we have.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Here in town. So, well, and I was talking with
- 44:59Speaker 1: a couple of recent guests. I was like, I, I,
- 45:02Speaker 1: you know, mentioned like, that's one of the cool things
- 45:04Speaker 1: that's happened this past year or so is that they,
- 45:07Speaker 1: came on board and they were like even people outside
- 45:11Speaker 1: of our town were just like wow that's really cool
- 45:13Speaker 1: and that's one of the things i think is really
- 45:15Speaker 1: impressive is that they've gotten to this point they're a
- 45:18Speaker 1: successful local business they've branched out and and done more
- 45:22Speaker 1: and more and have helped not just charities but you
- 45:25Speaker 1: see them giving back to other people like Other independent
- 45:29Speaker 1: operations like, I don't know, Movie Meltdown that couldn't exit. Well,
- 45:34Speaker 1: that's the thing. There are so many people I've gone
- 45:36Speaker 1: to over the years trying to keep this show running.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Great job, by the way.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Well, I just won't hear back from, or people have
- 45:44Speaker 1: gotten involved and then disappeared really quickly. And the fact
- 45:48Speaker 1: that they came on board and have continued to support
- 45:52Speaker 1: us is a really big thing. And I've even started
- 45:55Speaker 1: to see them doing it with other shows.
- 45:57Speaker 6: And I'm like, I don't think that's a bad thing.
- 45:59Speaker 6: I'm like, cool.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Seek out these new different places to not just advertise yourself,
- 46:06Speaker 1: but to also end doing that you're supporting these independent
- 46:10Speaker 1: artists and operations that are trying to do something outside
- 46:13Speaker 1: of the norm and normally bigger businesses won't have anything
- 46:17Speaker 1: to do with that unless it's cut and dried the
- 46:19Speaker 1: generic way that we've always done advertising or however we
- 46:22Speaker 1: spread the word about our business you know we only
- 46:25Speaker 1: go through newspaper ads because you know that's what the
- 46:27Speaker 1: kids read today well and that's and that's actually incredibly
- 46:30Speaker 1: vital especially for those of us uh like yourself and
- 46:33Speaker 1: myself who are part of the independent arts community I'd
- 46:36Speaker 1: like to think that.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Would you mind if I stuck in a promo myself?
- 46:40Speaker 1: Feel free.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Excellent.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Well, speaking as a member of the independent arts community,
- 46:44Speaker 3: the theater community to be specific, which also thrives on
- 46:48Speaker 3: non-traditional businesses giving us their okay to slap a logo
- 46:52Speaker 3: on a program for a show that you've never heard of.
- 46:58Speaker 3: I'll be working with the Alley Theater once again, bringing
- 47:00Speaker 3: back our Star Trek boldly going way too far.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Way too far.
- 47:05Speaker 5: Again.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Uh, this will be the third mounting of the show
- 47:09Speaker 3: that we, uh, premiered and originated, uh, uh, about four
- 47:13Speaker 3: years ago, I think at this point, uh, which is
- 47:16Speaker 3: kind of amazing because it was a freewheeling, exciting thing.
- 47:18Speaker 3: We first threw it together in like a couple of
- 47:20Speaker 3: months to, to put it on, to put it on,
- 47:23Speaker 3: but it'll be coming back this July, uh, the 12th
- 47:26Speaker 3: through the 28th, I believe.
- 47:28Speaker 5: Uh, so mark your calendars.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Uh, it is an exciting show where we take an
- 47:31Speaker 3: adventure through all the different series and of the franchise and,
- 47:35Speaker 3: throw in some references and some jokes about other franchises
- 47:38Speaker 3: as well. And it's really not only a celebration of
- 47:41Speaker 3: Star Trek and all things Star Trek, but also of
- 47:43Speaker 3: the weirdness and goofiness that's fundamental, in my opinion, to
- 47:47Speaker 3: the show. And not only is that the case, but also,
- 47:50Speaker 3: if you arrive and if you are selected to be
- 47:53Speaker 3: one of the unlucky few, you too can come up
- 47:55Speaker 3: on stage and be a red shirt. You will be
- 47:58Speaker 3: given a red shirt and the job of dying to
- 48:01Speaker 3: defend one of the more important cast members... before the
- 48:04Speaker 3: scene is done.
- 48:05Speaker 1: It's not going to end well when you put on
- 48:07Speaker 1: the red shirt. No, it won't.
- 48:08Speaker 3: But, you know, as a friend of mine once said,
- 48:11Speaker 3: hypothetical scenario, space is being traversed by the human race,
- 48:16Speaker 3: and we're traveling to new planets every day, and they
- 48:18Speaker 3: say to you, you too can join Starfleet, and they
- 48:22Speaker 3: offer you a red shirt.
- 48:24Speaker 5: Would you say yes?
- 48:25Speaker 3: The truth is, I think most of us, dear listener,
- 48:28Speaker 3: would indeed say yes, if it meant that we got
- 48:31Speaker 3: to be on the bridge of the Enterprise.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Or it'd be like, eh, I'd have to get up
- 48:37Speaker 1: and leave the house. I mean, I'm connected on the
- 48:41Speaker 1: internet to everything I need.
- 48:43Speaker 3: The 23rd century is no place for slackers.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I don't want to have to go out on adventures.
- 48:49Speaker 1: That seems like a lot of work. Adventures are.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Now you're talking like a 21st century geek.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I keep seeing our society do. It's
- 48:59Speaker 1: just like, I don't want to leave the house.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Eventually, that's going to be all of our pop culture heroes.
- 49:03Speaker 3: They're not going to be the people who are like,
- 49:05Speaker 3: heck yeah, I want to go on an adventure. They're
- 49:07Speaker 3: going to be the people who are like, oh man,
- 49:08Speaker 3: do I have to defeat the Dark Lord?
- 49:10Speaker 1: I think it'll be more like, I'm going to put
- 49:11Speaker 1: this headset on and go and digitally take on the
- 49:15Speaker 1: universe from right here on my sofa.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Dude, I think we've given Ready Player One way too
- 49:19Speaker 3: much of our time.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Okay?
- 49:22Speaker 1: So all that having been said, I think you should
- 49:25Speaker 1: go to hineybrothers.com. Slash subscription and sign up for the
- 49:30Speaker 1: coffee subscription. And that way you don't even have to
- 49:32Speaker 1: live down the street from that new one that they're building.
- 49:34Speaker 1: You actually can live wherever you want across the country.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Maybe even other countries. You should check the website. But yeah,
- 49:42Speaker 1: that way you can have coffee delivered to your door
- 49:44Speaker 1: and you don't have to do anything.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Fabulous.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Like everybody in this.
- 49:47Speaker 6: Society seems to want to do just kind of hang out.
- 49:49Speaker 3: At their house that's certainly the image we're painting of
- 49:51Speaker 3: it right now as we sit on my couch videos.
- 49:54Speaker 1: On your youtube and drink your coffee that's delivered right
- 49:57Speaker 1: to your porch what else do you want so yeah
- 50:00Speaker 1: just if you can't spell honey again maybe you're not
- 50:02Speaker 1: from this town you don't know how they spell honey brothers.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Just ask a local just go to.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Movie meltdown.com right there on the right hand side of
- 50:09Speaker 1: the page there's a button. There's a little logo that
- 50:12Speaker 1: says Heine Brothers Coffee. You click on that, it'll take
- 50:14Speaker 1: you right to the website. And then, when you're there,
- 50:17Speaker 1: more importantly, you use the code MELTDOWN, and you get
- 50:20Speaker 1: $ 5 off your order, and that's what we're doing for you. Again,
- 50:23Speaker 1: we're trying to give back to you.
- 50:25Speaker 5: I'd buy that for a dollar.
- 50:26Speaker 6: And Five of them. You'll have five extra ones once you.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Use this code. Meltdown. And from there, you can sit
- 50:35Speaker 1: and have extra money to invest in your online internet obsession.
- 50:40Speaker 3: So, for instance, if you happen to stumble onto a
- 50:42Speaker 3: Patreon page for a particular podcast.
- 50:44Speaker 1: You know, I'm not going to say Movie Meltdown slash Patreon.
- 50:48Speaker 3: But it's a circular business model, and it would really
- 50:51Speaker 3: be great if the money that you save thanks to
- 50:53Speaker 3: this podcast also goes into... This podcast.
- 50:57Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 50:57Speaker 3: That's not Mr. Meltdown over here proclaiming this. I'm just
- 51:00Speaker 3: a random guy.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I'm not going to say patreon.com slash movie meltdown. But,
- 51:04Speaker 1: you know, if you accidentally went there or the link
- 51:07Speaker 1: to that that's on that same right hand side, I'm
- 51:09Speaker 1: not going to tell you not to give money to
- 51:11Speaker 1: a certain movie on Patreon page that's, you know, surviving only.
- 51:16Speaker 1: by you guys and the wonderful people at Heine Brothers
- 51:19Speaker 1: so this is the only way we survive is help
- 51:22Speaker 1: from other people and that's how you build an awesome
- 51:25Speaker 1: artistic community of people using the funds that are created
- 51:31Speaker 1: through whatever you do and then giving it back to
- 51:33Speaker 1: other people to do other cool interesting things and then
- 51:36Speaker 1: it becomes a circle and we all we support those
- 51:39Speaker 1: businesses that support the independent cool stuff like Heine Brothers
- 51:42Speaker 1: yeah so it all it all comes full circle so
- 51:44Speaker 1: I'm just saying go do all of that Wow, that
- 51:47Speaker 1: was a great promo.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Go there right now. I'm going to drink some more coffee.
- 51:57Speaker 1: There's my coffee mug right there.
- 52:17Speaker 5: I'm Peter Weller, and you're listening to Movie.
- 52:21Speaker 8: Meltdown.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Your move, creep. It's part of your problem, you know.
- 52:33Speaker 5: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 52:35Speaker 2: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 52:38Speaker 5: And now, on with the show.
- 53:09Speaker 4: So now now on my birthday he has to watch
- 53:11Speaker 4: whatever i want to watch oh he's in trouble i
- 53:14Speaker 4: can't decide what to go with first i was singing
- 53:16Speaker 4: the last unicorn.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Oh do you think that's gonna drive him crazy probably
- 53:21Speaker 1: It's been a long time since I've seen Last Unicorn.
- 53:23Speaker 1: I don't even remember 99% of it.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Boyfriend ruined pizza rolls for me. Now I can't eat them.
- 53:30Speaker 1: What has he done?
- 53:31Speaker 4: He smashed his finger at work. And his description to
- 53:35Speaker 4: me as to what happened was that the insides oozed
- 53:39Speaker 4: out like a pizza roll when it's done.
- 53:41Speaker 6: That's massively gross. I'm not surprised. It does seem like
- 53:48Speaker 6: something they would say and do.
- 53:50Speaker 4: That's how you know the pizza rolls are done. It's true.
- 53:54Speaker 4: They're either ice cold or they're leaking.
- 53:57Speaker 6: After he smashed it, did he have that weird little corner?
- 53:59Speaker 1: The corner was.
- 54:00Speaker 4: The best part. The little crispy corner.
- 54:03Speaker 6: That's what you can pick it up by.
- 54:05Speaker 1: You got that little corner to get a hold of
- 54:06Speaker 1: and throw it in.
- 54:07Speaker 4: But now I legit can't even eat pizza rolls anymore.
- 54:10Speaker 4: I had to get bagel bites instead.
- 54:12Speaker 1: And you call yourself a cannibal. I don't. Do I?
- 54:16Speaker 1: I think earlier we did, didn't we?
- 54:18Speaker 4: We were eating cookies. Cannibal cookies.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Nothing wrong with cannibal cookies.
- 54:25Speaker 4: But when I attach certain imagery to certain foods, I
- 54:27Speaker 4: just can't eat it anymore.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Okay, what if Bill Moseley gave you a pizza roll?
- 54:31Speaker 4: Is it currently exploding?
- 54:34Speaker 1: It's fresh and warm from the oven, but not too
- 54:36Speaker 1: hot to burn you.
- 54:39Speaker 4: There's no option. It's either ice cold or it's scalding
- 54:42Speaker 4: the inside of your mouth. There is no in-between with
- 54:45Speaker 4: pizza rolls or Hot Pockets. It's either frozen on the
- 54:49Speaker 4: inside or it's like the atomic pits of hails.
- 54:53Speaker 5: Yep.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Yep. Well, we're back talking pizza rolls and the pits
- 54:58Speaker 1: of hell. Speaking of hell, I think we should go
- 55:01Speaker 1: talk to this week's guest.
- 55:02Speaker 4: That's an epic tie-in, by the way.
- 55:04Speaker 1: That was pretty amazing.
- 55:06Speaker 4: See? I set up that tie-in.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Our guest this week is the devil and we're sitting
- 55:10Speaker 1: in the pits of hell having pizza rolls. You see
- 55:12Speaker 1: how all this is coming together now.
- 55:14Speaker 4: He's a handsome devil, by the way.
- 55:15Speaker 7: That he is.
- 55:23Speaker 5: You, I guess, are kind of back in.
- 55:31Speaker 1: The heartland here. You're originally from Ohio?
- 55:34Speaker 5: Akron, Ohio, yeah, my hometown. Born and raised there. I
- 55:53Speaker 5: went to Kent State University, graduated from there in 1969.
- 55:57Speaker 5: I went on to New York, and I was in
- 56:00Speaker 5: New York for a couple of weeks, and I walked
- 56:01Speaker 5: into an open audition at CBS and got a soap
- 56:05Speaker 5: opera called Love of Life.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Which, quite a few years.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was on.
- 56:10Speaker 5: That for almost eight years, I suppose. Yeah, and I
- 56:14Speaker 5: did something around 950 half-hour episodes of that.
- 56:18Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 56:19Speaker 5: And that was my big training ground. That's a lot
- 56:23Speaker 5: of hours. And while I was doing that show, I
- 56:25Speaker 5: was doing stage work in New York. I was off,
- 56:28Speaker 5: off Broadway, off Broadway, and on Broadway. I did a
- 56:31Speaker 5: couple shows on Broadway. Romeo and Juliet on Broadway and
- 56:35Speaker 5: Tartuffe on Broadway. And then I became sort of well
- 56:39Speaker 5: known for doing the obscure plays by Eugene O'Neill like
- 56:43Speaker 5: The Hairy Ape and Dynamo off Broadway. And was instrumental
- 56:49Speaker 5: in starting the off-Broadway equity contract. And then I left
- 56:57Speaker 5: New York in 1978, and I went out to California
- 57:01Speaker 5: to seek my fortune. And since then, I've guest-starred at
- 57:07Speaker 5: about probably 85 or 90 different episodic television shows. And
- 57:12Speaker 5: I've been a regular on about five or six of them.
- 57:18Speaker 5: a recurring character on about eight or nine of them
- 57:20Speaker 5: and and i've done about 100 movies so.
- 57:23Speaker 1: It's quite a resume yeah well.
- 57:26Speaker 5: You know when you've been doing it for almost 50
- 57:27Speaker 5: years that it all adds up so.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Did you set out again you did so much stage
- 57:31Speaker 1: work early on did you like growing up as a
- 57:34Speaker 1: kid were you more interested in film and tv or what.
- 57:36Speaker 5: No i was a theater actor yeah i was a
- 57:38Speaker 5: stage actor that was uh i was the uh In
- 57:42Speaker 5: my mind, anyway, I was the new Marlon Brando, you know?
- 57:46Speaker 5: I walked around Manhattan in a t-shirt and jeans, and
- 57:50Speaker 5: that was back in 1970. That can get you in trouble.
- 57:53Speaker 1: We were just talking. We actually just did a whole
- 57:55Speaker 1: episode on the waterfront. Yeah. Yeah, we went through a
- 57:59Speaker 1: lot of his, like, at what point is method a
- 58:01Speaker 1: little too method, and you annoy all your co-stars.
- 58:05Speaker 5: Oh, no, I would never do that, no.
- 58:09Speaker 2: But I love.
- 58:12Speaker 5: great majority of his work.
- 58:15Speaker 1: On screen and from what I hear on stage was amazing.
- 58:18Speaker 5: Now as a human being he leaves a lot to
- 58:20Speaker 5: be desired I suppose.
- 58:21Speaker 6: I think it got worse as time went on.
- 58:24Speaker 5: His work is superlative. So he was kind of like
- 58:28Speaker 5: one of my idols. But there are others too. I
- 58:30Speaker 5: love Joseph Cotton and I love Gene Hackman and I
- 58:36Speaker 5: love really good solid subtle actors you know and I
- 58:38Speaker 5: try to I try to emulate them as much as
- 58:43Speaker 5: I can.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. Well, I mean, I was looking at some
- 58:47Speaker 1: of the bigger ones and thinking back, and I'm like,
- 58:50Speaker 1: you were kind of the first big comic book superhero.
- 58:54Speaker 1: All right, I mean, Superman beat you a little bit,
- 58:55Speaker 1: but other than that, like, the really.
- 58:57Speaker 5: With Swamp Thing.
- 58:58Speaker 1: With Swamp Thing, yeah. It's like, there really weren't a
- 59:00Speaker 1: ton of.
- 59:00Speaker 5: That was a DC comic superhero, yeah, and I did
- 59:02Speaker 5: that movie for Wes Craven. uh we shot it uh
- 59:06Speaker 5: i think in 1980 and it came out in 81
- 59:08Speaker 5: and uh with adrian barbeau and louis jordan yeah the
- 59:12Speaker 5: pleasure to work with louis you know he was that
- 59:14Speaker 5: uh he was that big uh gg movie star you
- 59:18Speaker 5: know and um.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Well that was pretty early on for wes was he
- 59:22Speaker 1: how was he as a.
- 59:22Speaker 5: Director yeah he'd only done um he had done Last
- 59:26Speaker 5: House on the Left.
- 59:28Speaker 1: The First Hills Have Eyes, I think.
- 59:30Speaker 5: Yeah, The First Hills Have Eyes. And that was it.
- 59:33Speaker 5: Swamp Thing was his third film. And I loved Wes.
- 59:37Speaker 5: We got along famously and we had a great time
- 59:41Speaker 5: making Swamp Thing. We were in the swamps of Charleston,
- 59:45Speaker 5: South Carolina. It was 95 degrees temp and 90% humidity
- 59:50Speaker 5: and we had alligators and water moccasins and black flies
- 59:54Speaker 5: and all of our All of our Wranglers carried pistols.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Just like most movie shoots, sure.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: And I wore the Swamp Thing appliance, the actual monster
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: appliance from the waist up. And they could glue down
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: my face completely with the eye lenses and the teeth
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: and everything. And I could make this face look almost real,
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: you know, like a human being. And They didn't use
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: any of the close-up scenes that I shot for that movie.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: And I shot them all.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: And how many hours was it to get into that?
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: About three and a half. Because it didn't match with
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: the six-foot-five stuntman, Dick Durock. And so somewhere that film is...
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: And I asked Wes about that. You know where those
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: outtakes are? And he said, no, I don't know where
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: they were.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: When the Criterion edition of Swamp Thing comes out. They're
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: better beyond there.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Yeah. So anyway, yeah, I did that one, and then
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: I went on from there.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Well, that's, I guess, the big, working with Disney, again,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: early on, before they ran the industry, but Journey of
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Natty Gann was like, I think a lot of kids
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: kind of latched onto that early on. That was.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a movie that a lot of kids,
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: you know, identified with, and I'm finding that out, you know,
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: coming to these shows like this one, and they come
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: up and say, you know, 40 years ago, I... Yeah.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: Natty Gann was my film. And Meredith had just married
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: Patton Oswalt, a good friend of mine. It's funny.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I saw her at, I think, this a couple of
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: years ago. And then the next thing I saw, she
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: was married. I'm like, when did that happen?
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: I did. And I just had a birthday party last August.
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: And Patton came with Meredith. And it was sweet to
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: see them again.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: It is an interesting story, them finding each other. Mostly
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: through the internet, it sounded like.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: It's crazy. Well, and then the big one, and I
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: know Jay loves RoboCop, so we're always talking about that.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: Yeah, they're still coming up to me for RoboCop.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I mean, that was also really early for Verhoeven.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Did you, I mean, in this country, that was kind
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: of his breakthrough. So did you know him by reputation
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: coming into that movie?
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd seen Soldier of Orange and, you know, a
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: little bit of his work. A lot of his stuff
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: with Rutger Hauer, you know. Flesh and Bone and a
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: lot of that. Yeah, but he was a wild, crazy Dutchman,
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: you know. And we had the greatest time making RoboCop.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: We were like kids in a sandbox.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: With explosives.
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: We were blowing up streets in Dallas, you know. It
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: was supposed to be old Detroit, but it was Dallas.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: And then we went down to the outside of Pittsburgh
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: in Manessen, Pennsylvania to that old steel mill. And we
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: shot a lot of the movie. And we were just
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: like kids in a candy shop, you know, just having
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: a great time. That's been one of my most fun
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: experiences making RoboCop ever.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: And the hair was pretty epic.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: That was definitely mid-' 80s hair. That was awesome.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: We all had hair then, didn't we? Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Even Kurt.
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: It was hard for him, but he still had some.
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: But, yeah, we just had one of the guys that
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: did some of the effects stuff, and he built the
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: miniature version of the new Detroit. and he was originally
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: from detroit so he was like basing off of like
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: a bastardized version of his actual hometown.
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: Yeah yeah that documentary that the new one's coming out
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: or has it been out yet i haven't seen it
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: i know i did a thing for it so i
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: think i think it'll be out soon if it's not
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: out already.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Yeah it's it's a pretty amazing to this day holds
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: up in ways that is yeah i don't think people
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: were prepared for that movie when it came out yep
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: you're right yeah and So then I guess, you know,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: we have to talk about David Lynch. Again, how much
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: did you know about him by reputation coming into Trim Peaks? Oh, well,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: you know, I, you know, I mean, he was already
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: kind of established in the industry.
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I saw Eraserhead.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: And I, and I saw, you know, Blue Velvet and, and, and,
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: and of course the, the one with John Hurt that
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: Mel Brooks produced. What, what was that one called? Oh, oh, um,
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: With Anthony Hopkins, all about... Oh, Elephant Man? Elephant Man, yes,
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: that one, yeah.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: You know, yeah. I saw all of his films before
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: I worked with him, yeah.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: But, I mean, you couldn't have known exactly what you
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: were getting yourself into, especially for the role that you
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: ended up in.
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: No, I didn't envision playing Leland Palmer at all. I
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: thought I was going to be the sheriff. Yeah. And
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: when I auditioned with David, we just talked for about
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: 20 minutes. That was the audition. And we talked about
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: our first car, some actor friends we had in common, and.
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: And that was it. That was the extent of it.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: We got along famously. Found out a couple of days
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: later that he wanted me to play Leland Palmer. And
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: I had to look in the script and see who
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: he was again.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: He's this guy. His daughter died. And he hears about
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: it on the phone and he cries. He goes to
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: the morgue to identify her body. He cries. He's in
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: a room while the police are searching it. He cries.
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: I said, well, all this guy does is cry. But
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: then I thought, ah, therein lies the challenge, you know,
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: making all these different variations of crying and mourning and
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: odd behavior that Leland exhibited. And so, you know, we
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: started out with Leland and the writers dug the character
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: and they started writing more outrageous stuff for him, you know.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Well, again, it is, you know, a points to you
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: because it's like again on paper that could come off
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: and a lesser actor would just do the most basic
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: but i think that your version of leland is so
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: layered and so like weird in the best possible way
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: that like adds so much to what lynch is already
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: doing oh thank.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: You yeah yeah i tried to make him a real
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: human being yeah and.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Yeah and especially as the story goes on and gets
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: darker and darker did do you feel like lynch knew
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: for sure that end that was coming.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: No no no In fact, I know for a fact
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: he did not want that end to come. He wanted
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: to continue on. It was the ABC television network that
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: wanted that end to come. They wanted to find a killer.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: They wanted it to be resolved in some way. And
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: so they're the ones that put the kibosh on that.
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: If it was up to David, he would have kept
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: it going on forever. And I would still be in town.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Seems like a bad... choice really i mean to me
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: that's what kept the series going like it does hit
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: a weird turn after we know the big question.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: You know and then it went off another tangents.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: And uh Nobody wants to follow James around. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: We want more Leland.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Well, and then, especially that weird dynamic of then, at
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: that point, you're like the ultimate father. We just passed
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: Father's Day and there was a meme going around that
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: was the crazy Leland and it just said, Happy Father's Day.
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: Yeah, and at the time I was filming it, I
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: had a two or three year old daughter. She was,
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: I think, three at the time.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: And, you know, the whole idea of Leland being the
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: killer of his own daughter.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: Yeah it's very distasteful and people were just like that's
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: dark and i'm like i.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: Know i know it was another i didn't want to
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: do it i didn't want to do it yeah and
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: i actually seriously thought momentarily that i can't do it
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: you know i'm not gonna do it yeah but then
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: uh when we met with david and he you know
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: he explained how i was gonna go out and uh
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: It was going to be a beautiful thing, as he
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: always says. It is.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: That scene of you in the interrogation room is phenomenal.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: To this day, it's just one of the best scenes ever.
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. That's an amazing scene. I enjoy watching that myself.
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: And also the following ones, when I'm actually dying and
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: with the water coming down and in Cooper's arms and
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: all of that.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: it was redemption for me as an actor to experience
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: that scene. And so I felt, I felt good about
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: going out, you know?
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: And at that point you wouldn't think it could get
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: any darker, especially for your character, but then we get
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: to fire walk with me.
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: Somehow it gets darker and more twisted.
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: And then you understand. Yeah. You understand what he did.
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: Fire Walk With Me was... And that gal over there... Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Cheryl.
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: Who was my daughter. She put herself through the gamut
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: of emotions in that film. She deserves every kind of
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: award for that performance.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: She's amazing.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a wonderful thing.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: We had to jump ahead because Misty's a huge Reaper fan.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: She was telling you at the table she just finished
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: watching the second season again.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: I love Reaper. I could have played the devil forever
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: and never play anything else.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: I loved that show. I loved the cast. I loved
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: that character. And it was a great show. You know,
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: there was no reason for it to be canceled. It
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: was only because the powers that be at the CW
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: network at that time didn't think that we had enough
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: gossip girls in our show. Yeah.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: The CW hadn't hit its stride. It's funny now, I
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: feel like if Reaper was on, they'd found such a
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: fan base.
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: Yeah, with the vampire thing.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: All of the superhero series, the vampires.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Which fit right in now.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Yeah, now I think it would be fine.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: And they tried to shop the show, I guess, to
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: the ABC family network. But even now, people are talking
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: about having a Reaper revival, doing a movie.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean... You could do that or end up
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: on Netflix now.
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: It's a ton of options. What? Misty wants to know
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: how it ends is what she says. It doesn't end.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: That's the thing. Boy, you should have seen the shows
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: they had in mind for the third season. We were
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: going to go down into hell.
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: Nice.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Misty's losing her mind right now.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's never going to happen now unless something happens.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: you know strange.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Unless your money comes in people start the kickstarter let's
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: get this going.
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: Kickstarter campaign for reaper please well.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Then i was gonna throw out again i like i
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: like because i'll pick you know a lot of the
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: bigger stuff but i like sometimes asking people what's like
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: a film that you've made over the years that you
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: think didn't get enough exposure that you think is really
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: great but not everybody talks about oh a.
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: Movie i made called dead end which is there you
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: go it's one it's one.
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: Of my favorites you know.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: I made with lynn shea yeah alexandra holden And, yeah,
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: it's one of my hidden treasures, I guess you could
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: call them. Yeah. I love Dead End.
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Yeah. So there's our recommend for the episode.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: And one of the great movies that I always liked
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: was Good Night and Good Luck that was directed by
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: George Clooney.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: And, you know, I had the opportunity to work with
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: a whole slew of, you know, fine actors like Robert
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: Downey Jr. and Jeff Daniels and David Strathern and Patricia Clarkson.
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: Just an amazing cast.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's one of those examples of how solid
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: and dramatic you can play stuff. Yeah. But I was
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: going to say, it is also really interesting when you
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: look through how you're so unafraid to do very silly.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: You're doing Tim and Eric, and you're doing Funny or Die.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: Oh, I love silly.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like you can dial it up.
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: I can make a fool of myself with the best
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: of them.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I don't mind it.
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: I love self-deprecation. I always have. And I never thought
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: of myself as any kind of a big deal. So
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: anytime I can make fun of myself, I take that chance.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: But being able to play that deadpan, almost the flip
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: side of the series, where you're doing like Chilleraba or
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: you're doing like.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: Oh, and did you see my music video with Beach
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: House that Eric directed?
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: No.
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: Oh, you got to look that up.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: I've seen the infomercials.
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: You can go online.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Office hugging.
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: It's Beach House, the group Beach House. It's called Wishes.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a pretty far out music video. Yeah, well,
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: you'll see. I sing. I sing in it.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: I'd hope. I mean, most days I'm just humming Marysa Yoaks.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: That's most of my days.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: Oh, you've got to see it.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: You can go online and see it. It's called Beach
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: House Wishes, and you'll see it.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: Eric Warheim directed it.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: And then I guess you've still got tons of new
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: stuff in the works. So do you have stuff coming
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: out that you want to tell people about?
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: Well, I have my show on ABC called Fresh Off
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: the Boat. And we're coming back for a fifth season.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: And those new episodes will start airing in September. And
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: I made a couple of movies. One called For Entertainment
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: Purposes Only. Another one called Tone Deaf, a new Ricky
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: Bates film. The guy who did Trash Fire and Suburban
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: Gothic and Excision. And yeah, I try to keep busy.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Definitely. And again, pop up in places I was not
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: expecting fresh off the boat. I'd been watching it and
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: then like one episode, there you are.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: I'm playing an Orlando dentist. Do you believe that?
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Everyone's, there's another outfits in that one. That mid 90s.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: They're all like, you're on the golf course.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: Exactly, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's nice.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, well, thank you for talking with us, man.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Definitely check out your stuff.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: Oh, you're welcome.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: And we'll get the Kickstarter going for more Reapers.
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: All right, good.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Good deal.
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: Thank you, man.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: I'm serious, dude.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: He still didn't kiss me, but I'm.
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: A little upset by that.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: I mean, how old is he? Did we ever figure
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: that out? Like 70? That involves a Google search. He
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: looks remarkable for his age.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Again, if I didn't know the math of looking up
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: some of the stuff he's done, I'm just like, yeah,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: he's been doing stuff a long time. As he references,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: quite a while. So I don't know. It's a lot
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: of years.
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: Maybe he's not 70. Maybe I just made that up.
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: 70. Man looks damn good. I would not have expected. Again,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: had I not done the math on the going back
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: and looking at all the stuff he's worked on over
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: the years, then I'm like, well, yeah, I guess. Like it.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: mathematically makes sense, but yeah, if you just look at
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: him and talk to him, you would not guess that,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: because he looks considerably younger, which is probably good for
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: his career. That's why he's still getting all these awesome roles, because,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: you know, you can't get too old in Hollywood, or
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: they don't want to butcher and stuff.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: I wonder if he, like, tans, or does he, like,
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: naturally have that, like.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Just naturally George Hamilton-y.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: No, his looks good.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: It's not orange like Jordan Jameson.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. Not burnt like Jordan Jameson. I
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: can't even say his name. I keep wanting to say Weiss,
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: like Janet Weiss. Weiss. Ray Weiss is just, it looks natural.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: It looks like a healthy tan.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Yeah. He's a healthy man.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: He's not like Oompa Loompa or anything.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: It's good.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Don't go down that road, guys.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: But I mean, seriously, he's a good looking dude. I'm
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: not even going to lie.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: And a fine actor. as you've heard all the awesome
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: things that most of which i hope you've seen if
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: not you know there's some new ones in fact he
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: recommends one there so you should go.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I have since before recommended and we talked about it is.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: Why i put it on the list of like things
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: i'm like i only had a handful i knew we
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: couldn't be there like all day with them so i'm
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: just like okay let's you know just pick the the
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: bullet points we gotta hit and then like i threw
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: in a couple of wild cards and i was like
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: i'm like that one. Let's see what he thinks about that.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: And I didn't even have to. I just threw it
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: out there and that was his suggestion of a movie
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: that you need to watch. Have you seen it or not?
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: It did involve me doing a crazy spastic dance.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: That was true. You were doing some sort of Snoopy
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: dance over there when you looked over and he was
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: just like, poor crazy girl.
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: I get that a lot. But I did get a
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: hug afterwards.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: That's true. We're all jealous.
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: He did seem slightly delighted with my ridiculousness.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: You were very happy to see.
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: I can't hide my excitement. When I'm happy for something,
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: it's out for everybody to see.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: Much like when I'm pissed.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: When you're angry, you cannot hide it. And to counterbalance,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: when you're happy, there's happy dances.
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: There is. Giggles and... It's ridiculous. It's shameful.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: So a big thank you to Ray. He was super
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: awesome to hang out and talk with us there. And
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: he told us some really cool stuff. And now you
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: have a movie you have to go watch. So get
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: on it.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: It's a really good movie.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: There you go.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Several recommendations is what you're hearing today.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: You don't argue with Ray Wash.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Damn straight.
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: You just don't.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: He's the devil. And or Leland Palmer. I might be
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: more frightened of Leland.
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: Possessed Leland, I might be a little more frightened of.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Dude. Because the devil's just kind of a cool laid
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: back dude.
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: But Leland, even when he's like regular dad, he's crazy.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Let alone when he goes to full on. I won't
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: spoil anything. I know Twin Peaks is like a new
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: thing for some people. They're either rediscovering it with the
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: new season, but yeah, yeah. Leland is, he's a lot
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: to handle and disturbing.
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: I haven't watched the new season. Is he in the
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: new season?
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: There's some appearances they've, they've done again. David Lynch knows
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: what he's doing. He's got to wrap around and throw
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: in a lot of cameos with people from the old one.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: So he is in there a little bit.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: Delightful.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: That he was. So once again, thank you to Ray
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: for hanging out with us. Go support him in his
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: upcoming movies. And if you see him out there, tell
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: him he's awesome.
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: And you heard him on Movie Meltdown.
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: Support him in everything he does. Everything.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: If he has like an offshoot business.
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Makes like barbecue sauce or something with his head on there.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be awesome?
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: Just as long as he's not barbecuing babies.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Well, you know, whatever. Whatever he needs to do. Just,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: you know, support him in his, you know, cannibal barbecue sauce.
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: If he had a line of barbecue sauce, not necessarily cannibal.
- 1:18:13Speaker 6: He's probably stealing that from Bill Moseley.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: I would eat that shit. Yeah.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I mean, especially if there's a nice little headshot of
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: him on there. I, I trust that face to make
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: my barbecue sauce.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: I mean, I, when, when Dwight Yoakam made chicken fingers,
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: I totally, or it was a chicken fries, chicken fries.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: I believe I did try them out of weird curiosity
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: of like, why is Dwight making food?
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Uh, George Jones had an entire line. He had, he
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: had like sausages and barbecue sauces. I'm pretty sure. I did.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: I did enjoy most of those things. Um, I love
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: it when celebrities make rude food. They don't do it
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: near often enough.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Not often enough. So guys, all you celebrities out there,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: get on it. Get in the kitchen. Start making something.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Now I just want his barbecues. I'm picturing the little
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: version of his head on there.
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: Smiling.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Maybe giving you a thumbs up.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: If it's really hot, he could have a little devil horn.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: Devil horns for the spicy bottle. A little angel halo
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: for the nice mild, you know.
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: Yeah. This is the greatest idea.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: I think so.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: We need to get his people on this. We'd like
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: a cut, please. All right. Well, even without Ray, it
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: was a pretty awesome day. But with Ray, it was
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: a fabulous day. He was amazing. And none of it
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: would be made possible without Days of the Dead. So
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you yourself should go to daysofthedead.com and see what they've
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: got in the works, which is several more shows. They've
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: shifted their schedule. They're actually like, I feel like they're
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: kind of spacing them out now, which might be better
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: for like as someone who's overwhelmed by conventions. Like it
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: might be good to kind of space them out and
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: like do this one and this one. And so they've
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: spread them out throughout the year. And even now they've
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: already got stuff mapped out into next year. So, yep, daysofthedead.com
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: and you can figure out where they're going to be
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: somewhere in the future. They'll be back in Louisville and
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: hopefully we'll be there right in the middle of that
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: as well.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: Because, yes, they have rescheduled their Louisville convention.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so go to the website. Check out when they are,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: what cities they're going to be in, and then you'll know,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: and you can start planning your life around them.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: I think for at least the last year, if not
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: the last two years, they had it on, was it
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: Labor Day weekend?
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: Which always fucked up my shit, because that's also the
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: flea market weekend.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: Oh, I'm so sorry. So you don't mess with that one.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: So it's a good thing they've rescheduled. They might have
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: rescheduled just for you.
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: No, because they actually, unlike some conventions, they had complaints
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: from vendors and guests and, like, regular convention goers about,
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: you know, it's a holiday weekend, you know, some people
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: actually go do stuff that doesn't necessarily involve conventions.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: People and their family or whatever.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: It's like guests, too. They're like, we could make it
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: if it wasn't on Labor Day weekend. So, you know,
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: the guests, the vendors, you know, vendors got stuff to do.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: They don't necessarily want to spend the holiday weekend at
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: a convention. But unlike some conventions, they actually listen and
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: they've taken this into account and they are moving it.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: Because I think the thing they listed on their site was,
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: so they don't have a good convention, or that's a
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: passable convention. They want to have a great convention. And
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: to do that, they're willing to, okay, we'll listen to feedback,
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: and we'll do what we can to actually make this
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: better for everybody.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: And it worked, because today was pretty great. Not only
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: did we hang out with Ray, we bought some cool toys.
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: I bought cool toys. Did you buy toys? Oh, you
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: bought toys, too.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: I got several toys. They might be little... Little horror
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: characters that wind up and walk around.
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: I bought a Funko Pop figure of Leland Palmer.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: What a surprise.
- 1:21:36Speaker 6: I told you you should take it over and hold
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: it up next to.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Him and be like, hmm, no, kind of, a little bit.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: Well, I already had, for some reason I already had,
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: I think Boyfriend bought them for me.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: He bought me.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: Bob and Laura wrapped in plastic.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Wrapped in plastic. Exactly. But not Leland. So you remedied
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: that today. I did. With our many purchases of things.
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: Yes, yes. Now I need to get on the road.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Head on back. Plan our next outing to another show.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Do we have any of those planned?
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: There's more coming. There's always more coming. Don't you guys worry.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: There'll be another episode coming at you.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: But none of them will be as epic as Ray Wise.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: He's very cool. Very nice to hang out with us.
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: Anyways, we love you, Ray Wise.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Anyway, Ray Wise is awesome. And that's how we round
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: things out.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: Works for me. You guys should, like, ended out with
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: the mark with the song see i kept earlier today
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: i kept trying not that version that i just did
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: because that was awful.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Well earlier today i kept i don't know what made
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: me cross the two over but i kept like as
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: i was coming to pick you up to go on
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: the road trip i kept trying to find a way
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: to re-envision that song as done by Jim Morrison. I
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: got pretty close, I gotta say. It was pretty damn
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: good in my mind of like, if, you know, if
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: the Doors were gonna cover Maisie Dotes, this is how
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: it would go.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it was disturbing. That's why nobody.
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: It would just be incoherent rambling for a while.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, later there'd be a breakdown in the middle, but
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: for the most part... There'd be.
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: Something about lizards or something.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: He's the lizard king. You know how that happens. So
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: fucking weird. So once again, thank you to Days of
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: the Dead. Go to daysofthedead.com and plan your trip and
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: you can have a wonderful day like we did. And
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: now we're going to round it out and head on home. So,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: otherwise that about does it. We will return next time,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: Bye.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: And dogs eat oats.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: And little, little, little, little.
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: Lambs eat ivy.
- 1:23:57Speaker 8: Kid will eat ivy too, now wouldn't you?
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Do you know what.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: I mean now?
- 1:24:07Speaker 8: Manzitos and wafflesitos, little, little, little, little lambs eat ivy.
- 1:24:13Speaker 8: Kid will eat ivy too, now wouldn't you? Do you
- 1:24:19Speaker 8: know what I mean now? Now wouldn't you? Now wouldn't you?
- 1:24:29Speaker 8: Now if the words sound clear and I put it
- 1:24:34Speaker 8: to your ear A little bit of jumble and jivey
- 1:24:44Speaker 8: Sing mezzitos and dozitos And little, little, little, little lambs
- 1:24:53Speaker 8: eat ivy now Mezzitos and dozitos Little, little, little, little
- 1:24:59Speaker 8: lambs eat ivy I could eat ivy too Now wouldn't you?
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: Now wouldn't you?
- 1:25:09Speaker 8: Words sound queer and funny to your ear. A little
- 1:25:13Speaker 8: bit of jungle and jivey. Sing mezzitos and dozitos. And little, little, little, little, little, little.
- 1:25:25Speaker 8: Mezzitos and dozitos. Little, little, little, little, little, little. Mezzitos
- 1:25:33Speaker 8: and dozitos.
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: Yes, we have to explain to our fans out there
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: that we're at this autograph signing thing, and we're next
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: to my table. So we're trying to accommodate everyone, and
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: everybody's been really sweet here in Indianapolis. And this guy
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: that I'm talking to has been really nice. You're okay.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: I'm going to give him my attention.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
