- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Sophie Torber. I'm Kate Torber. And I'm Amy Torber. And
- 0:13Speaker 1: coming up on today's show, two Aussie influencers are slammed
- 0:17Speaker 1: over a pricey social media course, Indy Clinton's X-rated court outfit,
- 0:22Speaker 1: Brooklyn Beckham drops Easter eggs in a controversial ad, and
- 0:26Speaker 1: Sky Wheatley sparks breakup rumours again. But first, Kate, it
- 0:30Speaker 1: has been a while since we've all been together. I
- 0:33Speaker 1: think a lot of people were thinking maybe you'd left
- 0:34Speaker 1: the podcast. Well, I mean, that was the rumor I
- 0:37Speaker 1: was hoping was going to start.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Because I haven't appeared on the podcast since you guys
- 0:43Speaker 1: called me out on that controversial subs episode. I was
- 0:47Speaker 1: not happy when I listened to it. We won't go
- 0:50Speaker 1: into that, though, because we'll save it for the subs.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It's debatable whether it was controversial. Sophie and I didn't
- 0:55Speaker 1: think we said anything wrong. Well, there are a lot
- 0:58Speaker 1: of listeners that are waiting for my clap back and
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'll probably do it behind the privacy of the subs.
- 1:04Speaker 1: But anyway, I have actually been dealing with a nightmare
- 1:08Speaker 1: at home. My poor son, Jack, has a bout of
- 1:11Speaker 1: gastro and it hit a couple of days out from
- 1:14Speaker 1: his birthday. I was hoping it would be a short thing.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It has not been. The poor thing had gastro on
- 1:19Speaker 1: his second birthday. It feels like we're in isolation at
- 1:23Speaker 1: the moment. People were having to ring him on FaceTime
- 1:25Speaker 1: to wish him a happy birthday. I was like, this
- 1:26Speaker 1: is giving me a bit of PTSD from COVID time.
- 1:29Speaker 1: This is going to be enraging listeners because I had
- 1:32Speaker 1: a look at our Spotify comments and people were like,
- 1:35Speaker 1: can you stop talking about poo? Because we have been
- 1:38Speaker 1: doing some ads for Laika. And I was like, someone's like,
- 1:42Speaker 1: someone wrote something like, you girls never used to talk
- 1:44Speaker 1: about anything like this before. You were disgusted by this.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I said, we've been talking about poo for years on
- 1:49Speaker 1: this podcast. Oh my God. We always talk about it.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I mean, I think for about a year and a half,
- 1:54Speaker 1: we haven't been you know, talking about our personal lives,
- 1:58Speaker 1: not that that involves poo, but our personal lives as much.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We haven't been sharing any funny stories. And we've decided, no,
- 2:04Speaker 1: we're bringing it back. We're bringing it. The OGs want
- 2:06Speaker 1: to hear what's been going on. Maybe the new people don't. Well,
- 2:09Speaker 1: one thing exciting that went on that's not child-related is
- 2:12Speaker 1: that we were asked to talk at the Women in Media.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Or poo-related.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, or poo-related, was we were asked to talk
- 2:17Speaker 1: at the Women in Media conference. And it was all
- 2:19Speaker 1: about podcasting. So we were part of a panel that
- 2:22Speaker 1: And it was hilarious because there's been some photos of
- 2:25Speaker 1: the panellists taken. And we honestly look like we are
- 2:29Speaker 1: tiny because we were standing next to podcasting legend Monique Bowley,
- 2:34Speaker 1: who happens to be six foot one. And also Bec Morse,
- 2:37Speaker 1: who was a newsreader in Adelaide. a bit of a
- 2:39Speaker 1: legend here too. And she's a very tall woman too.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So we look so like the biggest short asses. It's
- 2:45Speaker 1: quite funny because people, I think, think that we're tall
- 2:48Speaker 1: because when we're together, I've got a couple of people
- 2:49Speaker 1: writing in being like, oh my God, you guys look
- 2:51Speaker 1: like you're so tall. We are not. We're five foot five.
- 2:55Speaker 1: That's average height. Despite being stitched up in the photo
- 2:58Speaker 1: like that, it was actually such a fun day because
- 3:01Speaker 1: we all had babysitters. We drove into the city and
- 3:05Speaker 1: I was like, really focused on being on time. I
- 3:08Speaker 1: was like, Sophie, we have to get there, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 1: half an hour earlier. I don't want to be embarrassed
- 3:12Speaker 1: walking in late. Unfortunately, my sense of direction is terrible.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And we were meant to be at the City West campus,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but I took us to the City East campus. And Amy,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you were running late and we were smug like, oh,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you're going to miss it. You ended up beating us there.
- 3:30Speaker 1: The situation was so dire. This is quite gross. One
- 3:33Speaker 1: of my toenails is so long that it's sliced. the
- 3:36Speaker 1: other toe and my toe was bleeding. It was like
- 3:39Speaker 1: dripping with blood. I wasn't even wearing high heels. I
- 3:41Speaker 1: was wearing flats. If people weren't put up by the
- 3:43Speaker 1: poo references, their breakfast isn't going down well this morning.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You said to me, Soph, I reckon we should run.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And I said, there's absolutely no way I'm running. I
- 3:51Speaker 1: had hair extensions in, like it would have fucking blown
- 3:54Speaker 1: off in the wind. Like I'm like, I'm not sweating
- 3:57Speaker 1: and getting up there. I'll be nervous as it is.
- 3:59Speaker 1: There was, I did have a bit of a, it
- 4:00Speaker 1: was sort of, tell me listens if you think this
- 4:02Speaker 1: is a compliment or an insult. So There was mostly
- 4:05Speaker 1: the women in the crowd were people in the media,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but there were a few uni students. And this lovely
- 4:10Speaker 1: girl came up to me after the event and was like, oh,
- 4:13Speaker 1: thank you so much for chatting. It's so exciting to
- 4:15Speaker 1: see that there's people in Adelaide with podcasts that have
- 4:18Speaker 1: national followings. And then she was telling me that she
- 4:20Speaker 1: wanted to be a podcaster and we were chatting. And
- 4:23Speaker 1: she mentioned something. She also went to UniSA, which is
- 4:25Speaker 1: where we all studied journalism. And she mentioned the name
- 4:29Speaker 1: of the newspaper there. It's now called The Scoop, which
- 4:33Speaker 1: is a better- Oh, it's not called The Warbler.
- 4:34Speaker 4: No.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So yes. And I said to her, oh, it used
- 4:36Speaker 1: to be called The Warbler when I was at uni.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And then she goes, oh, when were you there? Oh,
- 4:40Speaker 1: when did you graduate? And I stopped. And I couldn't
- 4:43Speaker 1: even remember the year. I said 2013, which is actually
- 4:45Speaker 1: a lie because I think we graduated in 2011 or 12.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And that was 10, wasn't it? No, well, when we
- 4:50Speaker 1: did our Masters, I think it was 2012. Anyway, her
- 4:54Speaker 1: face dropped and she's like, oh, my God. She goes,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm so young. I'm only 18. She's like, how old
- 5:01Speaker 1: are you? And I was like, 37. And she's like,
- 5:05Speaker 1: what the hell? She's like, you look so much younger,
- 5:08Speaker 1: which was lovely of her. Like the fact that she
- 5:10Speaker 1: was so shocked that 37 was so old was a
- 5:13Speaker 1: kick to the dick. I will use that phrase. To
- 5:15Speaker 1: be fair, you could be her mother technically. Oh, don't
- 5:18Speaker 1: say that. And then I worked out when I got
- 5:20Speaker 1: home that she was born in 2008. Oh, my God. Like,
- 5:24Speaker 1: what the fuck? Like, so I was in second, no,
- 5:28Speaker 1: second year uni when she was born.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Guys, I'm really chilled. I just came out of a
- 5:33Speaker 4: one-hour sedation. I got my wisdom teeth pulled out, so
- 5:35Speaker 4: I'm feeling really calm and collected.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Indy Clinton has divided opinions over the outfit she decided
- 5:41Speaker 1: to wear to court. The popular influencer was there to
- 5:45Speaker 1: support her husband, Ben Azar, who was reportedly suing his
- 5:48Speaker 1: former employer over alleged unfair dismissal. Now, Kate, this outfit
- 5:53Speaker 1: definitely didn't disappoint. My jaw was on the floor when
- 5:57Speaker 1: I saw these pap photos. So for those listeners who
- 6:00Speaker 1: haven't seen the photos, she wore a bright red T-shirt
- 6:03Speaker 1: with a Coca-Cola style logo that said, enjoy cock.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Quite a bold statement. I wonder how it went down
- 6:12Speaker 1: inside the courtroom. Don't think it would have gone down
- 6:16Speaker 1: very well. I mean, I wonder if they would have
- 6:17Speaker 1: tried to censor her. Presumably she could have put a
- 6:20Speaker 1: jacket on. Who knows? Maybe this was just a stunt
- 6:22Speaker 1: that she wanted to pull outside the court. My ex-boyfriend's
- 6:25Speaker 1: dad was actually a judge and he was a lovely man,
- 6:28Speaker 1: but very intimidating. And I would have loved to see
- 6:32Speaker 1: his face. if Indy Clinton appeared in his courtroom, because
- 6:36Speaker 1: I don't think it would have gone down quite well.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I mean, the paps were absolutely frothing it outside the court.
- 6:40Speaker 1: The pictures, of course, ran in the Daily Mail before
- 6:42Speaker 1: being picked up by other news outlets. It feels like
- 6:45Speaker 1: it's the month of the slogan tea. I mean, last
- 6:48Speaker 1: week we saw Taylor Swift wearing her own DIY Knicks
- 6:52Speaker 1: t-shirts to the game. A couple of weeks ago, Morgan
- 6:55Speaker 1: Riddle purchased an Amazon World's Best Ex-Girlfriend t-shirt, and now
- 6:59Speaker 1: we were seeing Indy Clinton wearing an Enjoy Cock shirt.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like we need to go and
- 7:05Speaker 1: get some outspoken T-shirts printed with kick to the dick
- 7:08Speaker 1: on them. Maybe we should have sent one to Indy Clinton.
- 7:10Speaker 1: That would have been the perfect hat for her to
- 7:12Speaker 1: wear to court because this whole court case is a
- 7:14Speaker 1: bit of a kick to the dick, isn't it? Now, Indy,
- 7:16Speaker 1: if you are listening, I know sometimes she does tune in.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Let us know and we will send you one. Yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I kind of see how that quote works better on
- 7:22Speaker 1: a bit of a, you know, cheeky slogan T-shirt. Are
- 7:25Speaker 1: we thinking that Indy Clinton did it with a DIY
- 7:28Speaker 1: number at home? Possibly. Or she did what Morgan Riddle
- 7:31Speaker 1: did and just found one on Amazon or Timu. I mean,
- 7:34Speaker 1: Timu have a lot of cheeky sort of captions like that. Yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I'd like to get my own. It's actually, she looked
- 7:40Speaker 1: incredible in the t-shirt. I know that sounds funny, but
- 7:43Speaker 1: a lot of people were saying, God, she looks like
- 7:45Speaker 1: Kendall Jenner. She really looked like a supermodel strutting into court.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It was a massive fuck you. And I actually think
- 7:51Speaker 1: it was a really clever move by her because There's
- 7:54Speaker 1: a lot of strategy involved here. So she wants eyeballs
- 7:59Speaker 1: on this court case and she also wants to send
- 8:02Speaker 1: a clear message to her husband's former employer. And that
- 8:06Speaker 1: is exactly what has happened here. In terms of the messaging,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I also found the Coca-Cola reference interesting because late last year,
- 8:14Speaker 1: a video of Indy acting somewhat erratically at the TikTok
- 8:18Speaker 1: awards went viral and And in the comments, people wrongly
- 8:21Speaker 1: were speculating that she was on cocaine. Now, Indy shut
- 8:24Speaker 1: down the claims immediately, saying it was untrue, and she
- 8:27Speaker 1: explained that her behaviour looked a little bit off because
- 8:29Speaker 1: she was really exhausted. She also was running late to
- 8:33Speaker 1: the event and felt really rushed on the red carpet.
- 8:35Speaker 1: She then also had a bit of a run-in with
- 8:37Speaker 1: a journalist who made a crack about her nose job,
- 8:40Speaker 1: so she was feeling quite upset. She didn't really want
- 8:42Speaker 1: to be there. Now, I'm wondering if Ben's employer... saw
- 8:48Speaker 1: this video, you know, accusing Indy of doing cocaine, doing
- 8:52Speaker 1: the rounds on social media, because it went absolutely viral
- 8:55Speaker 1: at the time. It had millions of views. Well, we
- 8:56Speaker 1: spoke about it on our podcast.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And I'm wondering potentially, is that incident a part of
- 9:03Speaker 1: the reason why her husband was unfairly dismissed? Of course,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I want to point out that this is pure speculation.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I have no idea what went on, but I just
- 9:11Speaker 1: found it really interesting that that was the shirt that
- 9:13Speaker 1: she chose to wear. Well, if that was the case,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I don't know how they would have any leg to
- 9:17Speaker 1: stand on because I don't know how you can be
- 9:19Speaker 1: fired for your partner's behavior in a public setting. I mean,
- 9:23Speaker 1: I presume they would have been saying that he bought
- 9:25Speaker 1: the company into disrepute by his association with her, but
- 9:28Speaker 1: it all seems pretty ridiculous. Now, Indy did seem pretty
- 9:31Speaker 1: happy that the media picked up on her t-shirt, so
- 9:34Speaker 1: much so that she shared screenshots from the Daily Mail
- 9:36Speaker 1: article and said this.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I've had a really adventurous day this morning. I actually
- 9:41Speaker 4: accompanied my husband as his trophy wife to court. I
- 9:44Speaker 4: didn't have enough time to get ready with me this
- 9:45Speaker 4: morning and show you what I was going to wear
- 9:46Speaker 4: because I really need some help. But anyway, I'm really
- 9:48Speaker 4: not here to honk my own horn, but I do
- 9:49Speaker 4: think I look great in red. And I never thought
- 9:51Speaker 4: I would. I never thought red was my color. And
- 9:53Speaker 4: looking at these images, dang, I had a really good
- 9:56Speaker 4: time with you, Big Eddie. So I consider it a
- 9:58Speaker 4: date pretty much as well. I'll just leave this one here.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I look good. I laughed so much when she said
- 10:05Speaker 1: she was accompanying him to court as his trophy wife.
- 10:08Speaker 1: That is fucking classic. Well, my ears pricked up when
- 10:11Speaker 1: I heard that because I'm like, well, is that another
- 10:13Speaker 1: pot shot at the employer? Like, is that what they've
- 10:16Speaker 1: been calling her behind her back? Indy is very clever
- 10:20Speaker 1: and very strategic with what she puts out there. So
- 10:22Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if this was a pot shot.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I love that she shared Instagram stories the night before
- 10:28Speaker 1: asking her audience what she should wear. And all of
- 10:30Speaker 1: the outfits were outrageous. Like there were some hot pants,
- 10:33Speaker 1: like everything was very revealing, just not the typical outfit
- 10:37Speaker 1: that you would wear to a serious court case like this.
- 10:40Speaker 1: In terms of this case, the session that Indy and
- 10:42Speaker 1: Ben attended was reportedly a mediation and both parties are
- 10:46Speaker 1: still considering their options. If the matter is not resolved,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it is expected the case will return to court for
- 10:52Speaker 1: a case management hearing at a later date. And I
- 10:54Speaker 1: hate to say it, but I kind of hope it
- 10:56Speaker 1: gets to that point so we can see what else
- 10:57Speaker 1: she wears. Oh, she probably has quite a few outfits
- 11:01Speaker 1: already planned, ready to go. I love this from her
- 11:05Speaker 1: because anyone who has been an OG will know that
- 11:09Speaker 1: Amy went through some legal action. And I mean, luckily
- 11:11Speaker 1: it didn't actually go to the stage of going to court.
- 11:15Speaker 1: But it would have been like in the age of
- 11:17Speaker 1: social media, it would have been such a fuck you
- 11:20Speaker 1: to come in some of these outfits that do send
- 11:22Speaker 1: a direct message to the media and also to the
- 11:24Speaker 1: person that's there that you hate. They would have just
- 11:28Speaker 1: been like, oh my God, because they would have known
- 11:31Speaker 1: the type of attention that her outfit is going to
- 11:34Speaker 1: receive and how many people love Indy for her being
- 11:37Speaker 1: so outspoken like that. I wonder if it's her way
- 11:39Speaker 1: of pushing them to actually settle the case out of court,
- 11:42Speaker 1: being like, okay, well, this is just what I'm wearing
- 11:45Speaker 1: to mediation. Wait till this hits the big time, what
- 11:48Speaker 1: I'm going to do and what I'm going to say
- 11:49Speaker 1: and how I'm going to act. See, I want to
- 11:51Speaker 1: know what Ben thinks about it because I feel like
- 11:53Speaker 1: if I was going to pull a stunt like this,
- 11:55Speaker 1: My husband would probably reel me back in and be like, look,
- 11:58Speaker 1: let's just calm down. Let's not do it. Do you
- 12:01Speaker 1: reckon he's for it? I think he must be supportive.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I mean, of course, I mean, it's his court case.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So if he said to her, please don't do that,
- 12:08Speaker 1: I'm sure she wouldn't. I think he's on board.
- 12:11Speaker 2: The same people that are probably shaming this and saying
- 12:16Speaker 2: $ 250 is so expensive that won't look twice about buying
- 12:20Speaker 2: substances on the weekend and don't even blink an eyelid.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Two Australian influencers are facing backlash for charging $ 250 a
- 12:30Speaker 1: ticket to attend their social media masterclass. Mia Langley and
- 12:34Speaker 1: Sam Guggenheimer were forced to defend themselves after a content
- 12:38Speaker 1: creator labelled their event Daylight Robbery. Now, Soph, before we
- 12:42Speaker 1: get into it, can you introduce the main player, starting
- 12:45Speaker 1: with Mia? Yeah, so Mia is a hairdresser turned influencer
- 12:49Speaker 1: who has amassed 122,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok. Now,
- 12:54Speaker 1: for the past couple of years, she has been traveling
- 12:56Speaker 1: around Australia hosting her own hair education classes. And at
- 13:01Speaker 1: the end of each class, she would do a Q &
- 13:03Speaker 1: A and she noticed that the majority of questions she
- 13:06Speaker 1: was asked were about her social media following. So she
- 13:10Speaker 1: decided to create her own social media focused workshops. Now
- 13:15Speaker 1: the event is called Not Just a Hairdresser and it
- 13:17Speaker 1: has been touted as a combined social media and beauty masterclass.
- 13:21Speaker 1: It has very 2010 vibes. It sort of reminds me
- 13:24Speaker 1: of the workshops that Michael Finch was doing. Yeah, I
- 13:26Speaker 1: immediately thought of his masterclass as well. Now Mia is
- 13:30Speaker 1: originally from Perth but moved to Bondi recently and that
- 13:34Speaker 1: is where she met Sam Guggenheimer. So Sam is a
- 13:37Speaker 1: 24-year-old influencer who has been involved in a lot of
- 13:41Speaker 1: controversy recently. We've spoken a lot about her in the
- 13:44Speaker 1: last year. And just like Mia, Sam also moved to
- 13:47Speaker 1: Bondi and the pair have seemingly struck up a bit
- 13:50Speaker 1: of a friendship. And a few weeks after announcing the event,
- 13:54Speaker 1: Mia revealed that Sam was going to be teaming up
- 13:57Speaker 1: with her as a guest speaker at this masterclass. Now,
- 14:00Speaker 1: in terms of what's been covered in this course, the
- 14:02Speaker 1: content is aimed at budding influencers who want to grow
- 14:05Speaker 1: their social media following. and build a brand that stands out.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So the curriculum includes how to build a personal brand,
- 14:13Speaker 1: make videos go viral, be confident in front of a camera,
- 14:16Speaker 1: secure brand deals and work with influencers. I mean, I
- 14:20Speaker 1: would say that those are very valuable skills for someone
- 14:22Speaker 1: wanting to get into that industry. They also said they're
- 14:25Speaker 1: sharing editing tips and tricks and things like camera settings
- 14:28Speaker 1: and apps that they use as well as their own
- 14:30Speaker 1: personal success stories. The course sounds pretty interesting to me.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Like if you break it down, it is essentially a
- 14:36Speaker 1: marketing course, like a modern day marketing course. Now, about
- 14:40Speaker 1: a week after the event was announced, Amber from Influencer
- 14:43Speaker 1: Updates AU promoted it on her Instagram live and she
- 14:47Speaker 1: was really positive about it. She admitted though that she
- 14:49Speaker 1: was a little bit worried because Mia and Sam were
- 14:51Speaker 1: yet to actually lock in a venue for the event.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And considering it was only a few weeks away, she
- 14:56Speaker 1: was like, oh, I'd be a little bit concerned. Now,
- 14:59Speaker 1: a few days later, Mia clapped back at Amber in
- 15:02Speaker 1: an Instagram reel saying that she wished she had an
- 15:04Speaker 1: event like this to attend when she was starting out
- 15:06Speaker 1: in the industry. and thanked her for the free marketing. Now, look,
- 15:10Speaker 1: there is no need to be rude to Amber from
- 15:12Speaker 1: Influence Update. She is a friend of the podcast and
- 15:15Speaker 1: she's an absolute sweetheart when it comes to influencers. I
- 15:17Speaker 1: don't think she's got a bad bone or bad intention
- 15:20Speaker 1: in her body when it comes to talking about them. No,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think she was just being like, oh, I hope
- 15:24Speaker 1: they work out the venue. Now, Mia revealed the event
- 15:27Speaker 1: is actually going to be held at a cafe in Bondi. Now,
- 15:31Speaker 1: the next lot of commentary about this masterclass came from
- 15:34Speaker 1: a micro-influencer called Kate Small. And in a now viral TikTok,
- 15:39Speaker 1: the 19-year-old labeled the ticket pricing as daylight robbery and
- 15:42Speaker 1: joked if any of her friends attended the class, she
- 15:45Speaker 1: would reconsider their friendship. She also jokingly vowed to leave
- 15:48Speaker 1: the country if more than five people attended. And she
- 15:51Speaker 1: added that she didn't know a single person in the
- 15:53Speaker 1: eastern suburbs, which is where the event is being held,
- 15:56Speaker 1: who would spend $ 250 on it. Now, she also went
- 16:00Speaker 1: on to guess that most likely the people in attendance
- 16:02Speaker 1: would be a bunch of 12-year-olds whose parents paid for
- 16:05Speaker 1: the tickets. God, if I was 12, my parents would
- 16:08Speaker 1: never be paying $ 250 for a ticket. I mean, I
- 16:10Speaker 1: know that was a long time ago, but Mia did
- 16:13Speaker 1: hit back at Kate's TikTok, labeling it as mean girl behavior.
- 16:17Speaker 1: That seems to be the general line people go for.
- 16:19Speaker 1: In the caption, she wrote, girls, let's build each other up. Sorry,
- 16:22Speaker 1: this is again, stereotypical. Girls, let's build each other up
- 16:25Speaker 1: instead of bringing them down. If you don't agree with something,
- 16:29Speaker 1: scroll and move on. Now, Sam responded in the comments writing,
- 16:33Speaker 1: it's not about teaching people how to be an influencer.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It's about bringing young women together, building community, sharing our
- 16:40Speaker 1: experiences and talking honestly about what it takes. Kate's response
- 16:45Speaker 1: was quite priceless back. Let's take a listen.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Sorry, shut up. Sorry, sorry, what in the chat should
- 16:52Speaker 3: we take?
- 16:52Speaker 1: I can't, I can't, I can't.
- 16:53Speaker 3: To people that are charging $ 250 for a how to
- 16:56Speaker 3: be an influencer crash course, which is what it is,
- 16:58Speaker 3: even though now they're backtracking and saying that it was
- 17:00Speaker 3: never marketed as that, which is exactly what it was
- 17:02Speaker 3: marketed as. But the fact that they don't realize that
- 17:05Speaker 3: the first thing that they should be teaching at that
- 17:07Speaker 3: crash course is that if you become an influencer, you
- 17:12Speaker 3: become vulnerable to criticism. a personal attack at either of them.
- 17:20Speaker 3: It was an attack at how ridiculous it is to
- 17:23Speaker 3: charge $ 250 for this. Like just admit that it was
- 17:26Speaker 3: a money grab.
- 17:28Speaker 1: That is such a good point because one thing that
- 17:30Speaker 1: is missing from this curriculum is how to deal with criticism, controversy,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and also trolls, which would be, I mean, we're giving
- 17:37Speaker 1: them some ideas here. They don't have to go to
- 17:38Speaker 1: chat GPT for it. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if
- 17:41Speaker 1: they actually added this to the course. I mean, it's
- 17:43Speaker 1: on Monday, so they've got a bit of time to
- 17:46Speaker 1: do it. Because it seems like Mia in particular has
- 17:49Speaker 1: been very personally affected by it, which is really sad.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I mean, she's a 20-year-old girl. We've got to remember
- 17:55Speaker 1: these women are very young. Yeah. I mean, it's not
- 17:58Speaker 1: a bad idea. I don't actually think it's a terrible idea.
- 18:00Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see how it goes down on Monday, though,
- 18:05Speaker 1: and what the response is like from those who paid
- 18:07Speaker 1: a substantial amount of money to attend it. Maybe that's
- 18:10Speaker 1: when more backlash will hit if it's not very good.
- 18:12Speaker 1: It was pretty funny because I heard Brittany Saunders and
- 18:15Speaker 1: Matt Hay talking about this course on their podcast and
- 18:19Speaker 1: they were like, oh, we should go. And I was like, oh,
- 18:22Speaker 1: hang on, we should actually go because I know it's
- 18:24Speaker 1: in Bondi, but you can do, you can purchase a
- 18:26Speaker 1: virtual ticket. Unfortunately, all the virtual tickets are actually sold out,
- 18:30Speaker 1: but that would have been a really, I mean, that
- 18:32Speaker 1: would have been good content for us. That's what Brit
- 18:34Speaker 1: and Matt were saying. I'm surprised that they'd go along
- 18:36Speaker 1: to then be critical of it because Brit Saunders is
- 18:39Speaker 1: very supportive in the industry. No, no, she was being
- 18:41Speaker 1: really supportive of the whole thing. She was saying that
- 18:43Speaker 1: the backlash they've received is unfair, but she was saying, oh,
- 18:47Speaker 1: we should actually go and talk about it because I mean,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I think she's thinking that, you know, to defend them
- 18:52Speaker 1: and say, oh, they actually covered all of this great stuff.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I just want to go back to some more of
- 18:57Speaker 1: Kate Small's criticism because one of the points she made,
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'm interested to hear your opinion on Sophie, because she
- 19:02Speaker 1: said that the premise of the course makes no sense
- 19:05Speaker 1: because becoming an influencer is all luck. I don't know
- 19:08Speaker 1: if that's necessarily true. I think that to become an
- 19:11Speaker 1: influencer now and to cut through all of the noise
- 19:15Speaker 1: in the industry would take a lot of persistence and
- 19:18Speaker 1: consistency and hard work. Okay, maybe 10 years ago, it
- 19:23Speaker 1: took luck slash being hot to become an influencer. But
- 19:27Speaker 1: now that the industry is so oversaturated, you need to
- 19:30Speaker 1: be doing something different to stand out. And, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 1: even if you look at reels now and TikToks and
- 19:36Speaker 1: some of the brand campaigns and influencers are doing, there's
- 19:40Speaker 1: a lot more to it now. I mean, let's be honest,
- 19:42Speaker 1: you had to be lucky in the fact that you
- 19:44Speaker 1: needed to be hot. You needed to be physically blessed.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But now, as you said, it's a very oversized market
- 19:51Speaker 1: and everyone is trying to be an influencer. So it
- 19:53Speaker 1: is helpful to have people who have made it in
- 19:55Speaker 1: the industry sit down and say, hey, here's how we
- 19:58Speaker 1: did it. In saying that though, I do think you
- 20:00Speaker 1: need a certain personality type or something about you to
- 20:04Speaker 1: actually break through. So I think there's a mixture of
- 20:08Speaker 1: luck and also having the right skills. And it's pretty
- 20:11Speaker 1: funny because I've seen, you know, friends of friends trying
- 20:14Speaker 1: to crack it and become influencers and they're uploading YouTubes.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And I think that they could actually use some help
- 20:20Speaker 1: from a course because some of the stuff I'm like,
- 20:23Speaker 1: this is so bad. Like, do you even know what
- 20:26Speaker 1: you're doing? But maybe that's just because we work in
- 20:28Speaker 1: this industry. We've done journalism, you know, we critique influencers
- 20:32Speaker 1: and maybe I'm like, oh, is it because we know
- 20:35Speaker 1: a lot about it or? Well, if their demographic is
- 20:37Speaker 1: 12 year olds or, you know, girls in their early twenties,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I think that that's quite a savvy market. I think
- 20:42Speaker 1: the people that you're referring to are probably people in
- 20:44Speaker 1: their mid to late thirties who, you know, they've maybe
- 20:48Speaker 1: missed the train on some of the social media trends,
- 20:50Speaker 1: et cetera. I think, yeah, I think most young kids
- 20:53Speaker 1: would have some idea of what goes viral, how to
- 20:56Speaker 1: create videos. They're very tech savvy. I want to talk
- 20:59Speaker 1: to you though about Sam Guggenheimer's response to the criticism
- 21:02Speaker 1: because She shared an almost five-minute video to TikTok and
- 21:06Speaker 1: she started off by doing a bit of a TED
- 21:08Speaker 1: Talk about how kindness stopped being cool and criticism became
- 21:12Speaker 1: entertainment online. She then launched into defending the course saying
- 21:17Speaker 1: it was about bringing like-minded women together, similar to what
- 21:20Speaker 1: she said in the comment section, and talking about what
- 21:23Speaker 1: it takes to grow a business and an online presence.
- 21:26Speaker 1: She then touched on the ticket pricing. So she said
- 21:29Speaker 1: that the reaction online to the event's ticket pricing was
- 21:32Speaker 1: was a prime example of this culture of women tearing
- 21:35Speaker 1: other women down. Let's take a listen.
- 21:39Speaker 2: You open TikTok and you see your name in the
- 21:41Speaker 2: search bar and other young girls or women, older women,
- 21:45Speaker 2: for example, making a video to shame you when you
- 21:49Speaker 2: were trying to do good. You were trying to give
- 21:53Speaker 2: back and to meet like-minded people. And that has somehow
- 21:58Speaker 2: been shamed. The reality is that this is someone's job.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Events cost money. Venues cost money. Marketing costs money. Planning
- 22:07Speaker 2: costs money. And time costs money. To then make this profitable,
- 22:12Speaker 2: people need to set a price to make it worth
- 22:16Speaker 2: it for them as well. Life isn't free. And that sucks,
- 22:21Speaker 2: I know. But life isn't free and time is money.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And it's the same people that are probably shaming this
- 22:28Speaker 2: and saying $ 250 is so expensive that won't look twice
- 22:33Speaker 2: about buying substances on the weekend and don't even blink
- 22:38Speaker 2: an eyelid.
- 22:40Speaker 1: The way Sam phrased a lot of this conversation was
- 22:43Speaker 1: quite interesting because she kept referring to herself as you
- 22:46Speaker 1: rather than I. And I don't know if this was
- 22:49Speaker 1: a subconscious thing, but it is actually a coping mechanism
- 22:53Speaker 1: a lot of people use to kind of distance themselves
- 22:55Speaker 1: from a situation. I think that's what was happening here.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It's also a way of reframing the situation. So it
- 23:01Speaker 1: kind of puts it on the person that is watching thinking, oh, okay, well,
- 23:05Speaker 1: if I was in that situation, that's probably what I
- 23:07Speaker 1: would do as well. I think she was trying to
- 23:09Speaker 1: seek a bit of sympathy here as well. I think
- 23:11Speaker 1: that's why she framed it like that. Well, I mean,
- 23:13Speaker 1: it didn't really help because she did cop a lot
- 23:15Speaker 1: of negative comments and In the comment section, people were
- 23:18Speaker 1: saying it looked like she was reading off a script
- 23:20Speaker 1: on her laptop. And she did later admit that she
- 23:22Speaker 1: wrote her thoughts down and she was simply referencing what
- 23:25Speaker 1: she wrote. Other people chimed in and agreed with Kate
- 23:28Speaker 1: Small saying that they thought that this was written straight
- 23:30Speaker 1: from ChatGPT. I tend to agree as someone who uses
- 23:33Speaker 1: ChatGPT a lot. I was like, that is definitely from chat.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Can I point out that you do not use it
- 23:38Speaker 1: for this podcast though? Oh no, I use it for every,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I mean, my biggest thing that I use it for
- 23:44Speaker 1: is my health anxiety. Now one comment that Sam made
- 23:48Speaker 1: that really stood out to me was her saying that
- 23:50Speaker 1: she's giving back. I personally don't really think you're giving
- 23:54Speaker 1: back if you're being paid to speak. I mean, you
- 23:56Speaker 1: are literally being financially compensated for it. So it's not
- 24:00Speaker 1: some charitable act. I understand that you are giving your advice,
- 24:03Speaker 1: but you're being paid for that advice. I couldn't believe
- 24:06Speaker 1: the comment she made about the people criticizing the price
- 24:10Speaker 1: are probably the people who spend money on illicit substances
- 24:14Speaker 1: on the weekend. I was like, where is that coming from?
- 24:17Speaker 1: I'm surprised she didn't say, oh, peptides are cheaper than this.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Come on, everyone. Now, off the back of this backlash,
- 24:22Speaker 1: Mia has since announced that she's discounting tickets by 21%. Now,
- 24:27Speaker 1: I thought, wow, that is a very random number. But
- 24:29Speaker 1: that's because she's about to celebrate her 21st birthday. So
- 24:32Speaker 1: it sort of ties in there. I mean, let's be honest.
- 24:35Speaker 1: It's likely that they quickly came up with that marketing ploy.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I don't think that they were always going to do that.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I mean, her birthday isn't actually for a month or so. Yeah,
- 24:43Speaker 1: so that's them saying, actually, we're not reducing the prices
- 24:46Speaker 1: because we agree with you and they're expensive. It's just
- 24:48Speaker 1: apparently this birthday is coming up. I mean, it shows
- 24:50Speaker 1: to me that not many people were buying them. Now,
- 24:52Speaker 1: Mia claimed that the tickets were now cheap as fuck.
- 24:55Speaker 1: What do you think? look, maths is not my strong suit.
- 24:58Speaker 1: But when I had a look at the ticket prices
- 24:59Speaker 1: and now the discounts, I was like, this is not
- 25:02Speaker 1: adding up. So the most expensive ticket, which is $ 250,
- 25:06Speaker 1: goes down to $ 140. Now that is a lot more
- 25:09Speaker 1: than 21%. A 21% discount would bring them down to $ 197. 50.
- 25:13Speaker 1: So it's all a bit odd. In terms of whether
- 25:19Speaker 1: I think it's a fair price, I personally think if
- 25:22Speaker 1: Sam Guggenheimer wasn't involved in this event, There would have
- 25:26Speaker 1: been no backlash about this ticket price. Sam is fresh
- 25:30Speaker 1: off the back of a lot of controversies. And I
- 25:32Speaker 1: think people are finding it quite ironic and probably hypocritical
- 25:35Speaker 1: that she's giving social media tips when she's recently been cancelled.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't think that it was an eye-watering price.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Maybe this is because I've grown up in the 2010s
- 25:44Speaker 1: with Michael Finch charging, what, like $ 600 a ticket and,
- 25:48Speaker 1: you know, you get a goodie bag with it. Yeah, well,
- 25:50Speaker 1: I actually went back and looked at Michael Finch's ticket
- 25:53Speaker 1: pricing because I was like, I remember it being really expensive.
- 25:56Speaker 1: But again, there was no backlash over it. So his
- 25:59Speaker 1: tickets for his makeup masterclass started at $ 499. And it's
- 26:04Speaker 1: pretty interesting because Mia has also revealed that she in
- 26:07Speaker 1: the past has sold 70 tickets to her hairdressing class,
- 26:11Speaker 1: which each costs $ 400. So I don't think that the
- 26:15Speaker 1: ticketing pricing is extortionate at all. I think there's also
- 26:19Speaker 1: an element of the fact that we don't really respect
- 26:21Speaker 1: the job of influencers as a society. So therefore, we
- 26:24Speaker 1: think being taught about being an influencer is not worthy
- 26:28Speaker 1: of a paid ticket. This is giving me a bit
- 26:30Speaker 1: of an idea. Should we launch a how to be
- 26:32Speaker 1: a podcaster class and we'll only charge $ 4. 99? Absolutely. We
- 26:40Speaker 1: would never do that to our listeners. That is extortionate. No,
- 26:44Speaker 1: we would just touch $ 250.
- 26:47Speaker 5: $ 250.
- 26:47Speaker 1: $ 249.
- 26:47Speaker 4: 99.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Now, I do think we need to remember, you did
- 26:51Speaker 1: touch on it earlier, Kate, just how young these women are.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Mia is only 21 and Sam is only 24. And
- 26:57Speaker 1: while they do have successful online careers, it's clear that
- 27:00Speaker 1: they're still learning. So it's not nice to see Mia
- 27:03Speaker 1: talking about having panic attacks and losing sleep over this backlash.
- 27:07Speaker 1: This would be massive in their worlds. And it's clear
- 27:09Speaker 1: that they're both rattled by it. Mia flew home to
- 27:12Speaker 1: Perth last weekend because she wasn't coping with the backlash.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And she's even started a fundraiser to donate to Bully
- 27:19Speaker 1: Zero and said there will be opportunities to donate to
- 27:22Speaker 1: the charity at the event. I kind of reflect on
- 27:25Speaker 1: myself as a 21-year-old. I was absolute baby. I wouldn't
- 27:28Speaker 1: have been able to handle any of this. No, neither
- 27:30Speaker 1: would I. But I mean, I do find Kate Small,
- 27:33Speaker 1: the 19-year-old micro-influencer's opinion, quite interesting how she said, well,
- 27:37Speaker 1: a big part of being an influencer is dealing with criticism.
- 27:41Speaker 1: And it is interesting that they are putting on a
- 27:44Speaker 1: course about how to become an influencer, but then really
- 27:48Speaker 1: didn't deal with the criticism over the price that well.
- 27:51Speaker 1: The thing that is tough for them is that whenever
- 27:54Speaker 1: an influencer releases a brand or an event or some
- 27:56Speaker 1: sort of masterclass, there is always going to be extra
- 27:59Speaker 1: criticism due to their profile. Yeah, it's something I think, unfortunately,
- 28:04Speaker 1: that influencers kind of have to expect, particularly those who
- 28:08Speaker 1: have been involved in a lot of controversies recently. Now,
- 28:12Speaker 1: as I touched on, this event is on Monday. How
- 28:14Speaker 1: many people do you think will be there? Did they
- 28:16Speaker 1: say how many tickets they've sold? No, they haven't.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I really wonder. I mean, being held at a cafe,
- 28:23Speaker 1: it's not like you can fit heaps of people in there.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I remember Madison Woolley and Caitlin Rodriguez doing a podcast
- 28:30Speaker 1: catch up with some friends. I mean, this wasn't a
- 28:32Speaker 1: paid event. It was sort of just a bit of
- 28:34Speaker 1: a call out. I reckon only two or three people
- 28:36Speaker 1: turned up. Surely they would pull the pin on this
- 28:38Speaker 1: event if not many tickets get sold. I mean, not
- 28:41Speaker 1: to devalue what they're teaching at their course, but someone
- 28:43Speaker 1: like Sam Guggenheimer, who is a big influencer in the
- 28:47Speaker 1: sense she has a lot of followers, I question her
- 28:51Speaker 1: pull in terms of how many people are actually legitimate
- 28:54Speaker 1: fans of her and really like her. I think because
- 28:57Speaker 1: of all this mean girl stuff that's been going on
- 29:00Speaker 1: and the fat phobic comment from her best friend, Bill,
- 29:03Speaker 1: and she sharing that comment and being implicated in it,
- 29:07Speaker 1: I would say her fan base isn't very big at
- 29:09Speaker 1: the moment. So I don't think she's going to attract people,
- 29:12Speaker 1: say like a Sharni Grumman would have back in the
- 29:14Speaker 1: day to come and see her speak. So I'm very interested.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I think they're probably going to get a lot of
- 29:20Speaker 1: villa crowd from their friends. Sky Wheatley is sending us
- 29:27Speaker 1: mixed messages and we can't work out what's going on.
- 29:30Speaker 1: It appears she has moved out of her newly renovated
- 29:33Speaker 1: mansion despite still posting happy family content. Yeah, this really
- 29:38Speaker 1: threw me because on Monday, she revealed her new room
- 29:42Speaker 1: to her followers. So the room was not in her
- 29:45Speaker 1: mansion and I have a feeling it potentially is her
- 29:49Speaker 1: old bedroom at her mom's house or just another townhouse.
- 29:52Speaker 1: It was so weird. So she posed in front of
- 29:54Speaker 1: mirrored built-ins and wrote, how cute is my new room?
- 29:57Speaker 1: Feel like a teenager again. She also revealed that she
- 30:00Speaker 1: was going to start a new renovation series and wanted
- 30:02Speaker 1: to know if the wall between the room and another
- 30:05Speaker 1: one could be knocked down. It's funny because we keep
- 30:07Speaker 1: using the term mansion, but what actually constitutes a mansion
- 30:11Speaker 1: in 2026? Because I used to think a mansion was
- 30:14Speaker 1: a house that was over a million dollars. I mean,
- 30:16Speaker 1: these days, a lot of houses that you would not
- 30:19Speaker 1: call mansions are now a million dollars. Well, I think
- 30:22Speaker 1: a mansion... is determined by the number of rooms and
- 30:26Speaker 1: the land size. So I would think that any house
- 30:29Speaker 1: that perhaps had over seven bedrooms, well, six bedrooms is
- 30:33Speaker 1: a mansion. I've got a Google definition for you. It
- 30:36Speaker 1: says a mansion is a very large, impressive and stately residence.
- 30:40Speaker 1: typically spanning over 8,000 square feet. A true mansion is
- 30:43Speaker 1: defined by its grand architecture, luxurious amenities, blah, blah, blah.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So I actually do think that Skye's house falls into
- 30:50Speaker 1: that category now that it's been renovated. Definitely. I mean,
- 30:54Speaker 1: she is dropping so many clues here by saying that
- 30:56Speaker 1: she feels like a teenager again, and this is my
- 30:59Speaker 1: new room. It's not like she's like, oh, Lockie and
- 31:01Speaker 1: I are staying here because we sold the house. This
- 31:03Speaker 1: is our room. You know, we're going to be here
- 31:05Speaker 1: for a little bit. Like she wants people to start
- 31:07Speaker 1: speculating that they're not together. I mean, she also made
- 31:10Speaker 1: a bunch of digs at Lockie. So she filmed her
- 31:13Speaker 1: mum's new ring. Her mum was rocking this new Pandora
- 31:15Speaker 1: ring and it happened to be on her wedding finger.
- 31:18Speaker 1: She's not engaged. And Sky goes, I wonder if I'll
- 31:21Speaker 1: ever get one of those. probably not. I'll just buy
- 31:23Speaker 1: my own. And then her mom's like, oh, that's what
- 31:25Speaker 1: I did. Well, to be fair, to be fair, it's
- 31:28Speaker 1: a good question. I mean, Sky has been waiting a
- 31:31Speaker 1: long time. Lockie said he was going to propose. Wasn't
- 31:33Speaker 1: that around the time when Sky went into I'm a Celebrity?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Wasn't he saying, oh, I was going to do this?
- 31:38Speaker 1: That's so confusing because a couple of weeks ago, she
- 31:40Speaker 1: did a Q & A and a follower asked her
- 31:43Speaker 1: whether she was upset that Lockie hadn't popped the question yet,
- 31:45Speaker 1: considering they'd been together for a long time. And She said, well,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you're assuming that I want to get married. So she
- 31:51Speaker 1: was sort of saying it's not something that necessarily interests
- 31:53Speaker 1: her or that she wants to do. So yeah, it's
- 31:56Speaker 1: a bit confusing. I want to get back to these
- 31:58Speaker 1: pot shots because she also shared a video of her
- 32:01Speaker 1: dancing saying that her light is coming back this time
- 32:05Speaker 1: and she is about to get rogue. She also shared
- 32:08Speaker 1: a meme that said, all men will annoy you. Some
- 32:11Speaker 1: men will annoy you in Italy. Choose wisely. She then
- 32:15Speaker 1: was miming with her friend to the lyrics, life goes
- 32:18Speaker 1: on and it's only going to make you strong. And
- 32:20Speaker 1: since then, she's away on a brand trip with one
- 32:23Speaker 1: of her friends. And the posts that she is sharing,
- 32:26Speaker 1: I have to say, are very attention seeking. I love
- 32:29Speaker 1: a rogue Scott Wheatley and I think that we need
- 32:31Speaker 1: more of it. It is typical. I've just become single
- 32:34Speaker 1: behavior though. Like, you know, anytime a friend starts sharing
- 32:38Speaker 1: these types of Instagram stories, something is going on. They're
- 32:43Speaker 1: suddenly all out and about, hot to trot, you know,
- 32:45Speaker 1: putting their best foot forward. There's a lot of selfies.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I mean, obviously there's a lot of deleting going on
- 32:50Speaker 1: as well of their partner's pictures. The weirdest thing is
- 32:53Speaker 1: on Tuesday, she did a complete 180 and shared a
- 32:57Speaker 1: TikTok of a family trip to a waterfall, which featured Lockie.
- 33:00Speaker 1: And in one shot, they were cuddled up. I don't
- 33:02Speaker 1: know if this was like banked up content that she
- 33:05Speaker 1: wanted to get out of there, but it was all
- 33:06Speaker 1: very weird. Well, it's sort of like when they announced
- 33:09Speaker 1: that they were separated. And then on TikTok, there were
- 33:12Speaker 1: all of those videos of them making a bed, which
- 33:14Speaker 1: was clearly some sort of paid partnership thing that she
- 33:16Speaker 1: had to put out there. I've always liked Sky and
- 33:19Speaker 1: Lockie together. But at this point, I almost feel like
- 33:22Speaker 1: Sky would be better off being single. She doesn't seem
- 33:25Speaker 1: happy in this relationship. And it seems like she hasn't
- 33:28Speaker 1: been happy for quite a while. I mean, let's be honest.
- 33:30Speaker 1: She basically said that they were staying together to get
- 33:32Speaker 1: this house done. The house is basically complete. Imagine having
- 33:37Speaker 1: to move out of it now into this crappy bedroom
- 33:41Speaker 1: now that it's all finished and looking beautiful. Well, she
- 33:43Speaker 1: probably has a lot of cash in her bank account
- 33:45Speaker 1: instead though. Yeah, but better to be happy in a
- 33:47Speaker 1: crappy bedroom than miserable in a mansion.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Crying in a mansion sounds all right. No, I'm just joking.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I totally agree with you. I got a text! Now
- 33:58Speaker 1: let's get into what's been blowing up our group chat
- 34:01Speaker 1: and everyone is talking about Brooklyn Beckham taking a swipe
- 34:04Speaker 1: at his parents' in that DoorDash ad. Let's take a
- 34:08Speaker 1: listen to what he said.
- 34:08Speaker 4: You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup
- 34:13Speaker 4: 2026 from home.
- 34:13Speaker 1: It's a long story. Brooklyn is then shown placing his
- 34:18Speaker 1: FIFA World Cup tickets on a glass table as the words,
- 34:22Speaker 1: it's complicated more soon, pop up. Now, if that wasn't enough,
- 34:26Speaker 1: there are apparently some Taylor Swift style Easter eggs scattered
- 34:30Speaker 1: throughout this clip. So when Brooklyn places the World Cup
- 34:34Speaker 1: tickets on the table, you can see a pile of
- 34:37Speaker 1: unopened letters. And this is apparently in reference to David
- 34:40Speaker 1: and Victoria's pleas for reconciliation. There's also a watch discarded
- 34:45Speaker 1: on the coffee table, and it looks very similar to
- 34:48Speaker 1: the $ 475, 000 watch that David gifted to Brooklyn. Lastly, there's
- 34:54Speaker 1: a snow globe on the table. And this is apparently
- 34:57Speaker 1: a nod to Victoria's snow globe collection. And this was
- 35:00Speaker 1: highlighted during her Netflix series. So bizarrely Victoria is a
- 35:04Speaker 1: keen collector of snow globes I didn't have her down
- 35:08Speaker 1: as a collector he also seemed to take a bit
- 35:10Speaker 1: of a pot shot at himself he probably wanted to
- 35:13Speaker 1: look like he was in on the joke because there
- 35:15Speaker 1: was a camera on the table which I think is
- 35:17Speaker 1: supposed to be seen as him having a jibe over
- 35:20Speaker 1: his very short-lived photography career now the follow-up DoorDash video
- 35:24Speaker 1: came out yesterday and the gimmick is that DoorDash are
- 35:27Speaker 1: dropping Brooklyn's supposed tickets in secret locations for DoorDash shoppers
- 35:32Speaker 1: to find. So DoorDash must be absolutely stoked by the
- 35:36Speaker 1: reaction to this video. It's not great PR for Brooklyn,
- 35:38Speaker 1: but it's great PR for DoorDash. And they've been doing
- 35:41Speaker 1: some incredible ads lately, which are getting a lot of traction.
- 35:44Speaker 1: We spoke about their Mother's Day campaign that they did
- 35:46Speaker 1: with Indy Clinton and Bekjad and a couple of other influencers.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I don't understand why Brooklyn Beckham was involved in this though.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Like I see the upside for DoorDash, but all it's
- 35:55Speaker 1: done is ruin the reputation that he was trying to
- 35:58Speaker 1: build for himself. He had a bit of upper hand.
- 36:00Speaker 1: He was saying, you know, my family have used me
- 36:02Speaker 1: for PR and this is unfair. And then he's a
- 36:05Speaker 1: complete hypocrite and does the same thing and tries to
- 36:07Speaker 1: exploit his family feud. It's embarrassing. Well, the press are
- 36:11Speaker 1: dubbing this Brooklyn's privacy tour. And that is on the
- 36:13Speaker 1: back of the South Park episode where they paid out
- 36:16Speaker 1: Harry and Meghan's worldwide privacy tour. And I agree. It's
- 36:20Speaker 1: so embarrassing. He's literally gaining off this feud. And a
- 36:24Speaker 1: lot of people are saying, This is the only way
- 36:26Speaker 1: he's able to stay relevant. I mean, clearly it's not
- 36:28Speaker 1: a money thing because he's married a billionaire's daughter. Money
- 36:32Speaker 1: isn't an issue for him. Really? I think it is
- 36:35Speaker 1: a money thing because he's been cut off from his parents.
- 36:37Speaker 1: He probably feels a bit pathetic going to the in-laws
- 36:39Speaker 1: for some cash. He needs to start making his own money.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Clearly no one's buying his, what does he sell? Like
- 36:45Speaker 1: hot sauce or something? Like no one wants it. Everyone's
- 36:48Speaker 1: pissed off. Everyone is very defensive over the Beckhams. I
- 36:51Speaker 1: need to put it out there. I am team Beckham.
- 36:53Speaker 1: And I think that a lot of people have probably
- 36:55Speaker 1: moved to Team Beckham after this. Well, the Beckhams have
- 36:58Speaker 1: been cleverly using their PR team to send out messages
- 37:02Speaker 1: to the press. And according to an insider, the Beckhams
- 37:04Speaker 1: are saying that the ad was in poor taste and
- 37:07Speaker 1: it was an attempt for Brooklyn to remain relevant. Imagine
- 37:11Speaker 1: saying that about your own kid though. I know. You
- 37:12Speaker 1: know what I mean? The source went on to say,
- 37:15Speaker 1: to do an advert based on estrangement from family as
- 37:18Speaker 1: if it's a joke when his family is devastated and
- 37:21Speaker 1: his sister and grandparents are inconsolable, is shocking, especially from
- 37:25Speaker 1: someone who claims he wants peace and privacy. I mean,
- 37:29Speaker 1: this past week has not been a good look for
- 37:31Speaker 1: Brooklyn because there have been some pap photos that appeared
- 37:34Speaker 1: of his sister Harper trying to visit him. And she's
- 37:38Speaker 1: seen standing at the door, ringing the doorbell. No one answers.
- 37:41Speaker 1: She then is seen dropping a letter. And apparently Brooklyn's
- 37:46Speaker 1: team claimed that he was in New York. He wasn't
- 37:48Speaker 1: there at the time. Nicola wasn't home. And that they
- 37:51Speaker 1: think that this was a publicity stunt from the Beckhams. Well, Amy,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you mentioned that there were a number of unopened envelopes
- 37:57Speaker 1: on the table and people are wondering, was this a
- 38:00Speaker 1: little bit of a nod towards the envelope that Harper
- 38:03Speaker 1: left on his doorstep? Well, this only happened this week.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I mean, that ad would have been filmed probably weeks
- 38:08Speaker 1: and weeks ago to be ready. to be rolled out
- 38:11Speaker 1: for the World Cup. So DoorDash was just lucky. Now,
- 38:15Speaker 1: moving on, and another video that's been doing the rounds
- 38:18Speaker 1: of our group chat is a video from Venezuela Fury's
- 38:21Speaker 1: new husband, Noah Price, and it's him attempting to pronounce
- 38:25Speaker 1: Molly Mae and Tommy Fury's new baby name. Let's have
- 38:29Speaker 1: a listen to what he said. Have you met me
- 38:32Speaker 1: this year? No. You met who? Tommy's girl.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Boy. Is it a boy or a girl?
- 38:38Speaker 4: Boy.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Boy. Now, this was one of Molly's biggest fears. People
- 38:42Speaker 1: pronouncing her new baby Midas's name wrong. Well, she said
- 38:47Speaker 1: that some of her family have been having trouble. I'm
- 38:49Speaker 1: guessing it's the Fury clan. It's a bit embarrassing that
- 38:53Speaker 1: Noah didn't even know whether it was a boy or
- 38:55Speaker 1: a girl. I mean, it shows that they're not very close. Also,
- 38:58Speaker 1: has he not been watching the news? This name and
- 39:00Speaker 1: gender has been everywhere. It's international news. And Molly, she
- 39:04Speaker 1: made a big effort to be part of Noah and
- 39:07Speaker 1: Venezuela's big day. You think the least he could do
- 39:10Speaker 1: is pay attention to the news and work out the
- 39:12Speaker 1: baby's name. I mean, it's pretty embarrassing. You think he
- 39:14Speaker 1: would be used to unique names marrying into the Fury family.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Tyson Fury's kids, you've got Venezuela,
- 39:21Speaker 1: you've got No, they're all called Prince, remember? All five
- 39:23Speaker 1: of them. All the boys are just called Prince. But
- 39:25Speaker 1: they've all got their other nicknames. I actually can't get
- 39:28Speaker 1: enough of these two. There was another video that …
- 39:30Speaker 1: that kept popping up for me this week and it's
- 39:32Speaker 1: gone absolutely viral. It's of Noah reviewing Venezuela's cooking. So
- 39:36Speaker 1: they did this live stream and everyone's been chopping up
- 39:39Speaker 1: bits and pieces for TikTok. And in it, Venezuela serves
- 39:42Speaker 1: him bangers and mash with some Yorkshire puddings. And someone
- 39:46Speaker 1: asked in the live chat, oh, how's married life? And
- 39:49Speaker 1: he responds, free cooking, with a smirk on his face.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Let's have a listen to the full clip.
- 39:56Speaker 5: How was my life?
- 39:57Speaker 2: Very good.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Free cooking.
- 39:59Speaker 1: What?
- 40:05Speaker 2: What?
- 40:17Speaker 1: You know the score.
- 40:18Speaker 3: One, two, one, bite.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Now, because, of course, this is an audio platform, you
- 40:25Speaker 1: would not have seen Noah pulling a face the whole
- 40:28Speaker 1: time he was eating. He was acting as if this
- 40:30Speaker 1: was the worst mashed potato he's ever had. That surprises
- 40:34Speaker 1: me because I know Venezuela is only 16, but she's
- 40:37Speaker 1: been put to work in the Fury household since I
- 40:39Speaker 1: think she dropped out of school when she was 12
- 40:41Speaker 1: to help her mum. make meals and look after the kids.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I actually thought that the food looked delicious. I've been
- 40:47Speaker 1: craving mashed potato ever since watching it. I'm guessing it's
- 40:50Speaker 1: just because he's a flog. Like it probably tasted fine. Yeah. Well,
- 40:53Speaker 1: the worst bit of this video is when she offered
- 40:56Speaker 1: him another Yorkshire pudding and he replied, no bruv. I
- 41:00Speaker 1: know he's 19, but if my husband called me bruv,
- 41:02Speaker 1: that would be the last straw. Here's an idea, mate.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Maybe make your own dinner if it's not good enough. Now,
- 41:07Speaker 1: despite it being weeks since Off Campus Dropped, The show
- 41:10Speaker 1: is still doing the rounds in our group chat, but
- 41:12Speaker 1: our husbands will be pleased to hear this segment is
- 41:14Speaker 1: not about Belmont Camille. This time it's about his co-star
- 41:18Speaker 1: Ella Bright, who plays Hannah Wells. So recently Ella was
- 41:22Speaker 1: interviewed on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, where
- 41:25Speaker 1: she admitted to fangirling over Josh Houston, who plays Hannah's
- 41:29Speaker 1: longtime crush, Justin Cole. When we initially spoke about Off Campus,
- 41:34Speaker 1: we talked about this Aussie guy who was on it
- 41:36Speaker 1: and I hadn't watched the show yet. And I think
- 41:38Speaker 1: I joked that I'm sure he's going to be dating
- 41:40Speaker 1: one of the Kardashian or Jenna sisters very soon because
- 41:43Speaker 1: that seems to be what happens with the up-and-coming actors. Well,
- 41:46Speaker 1: the Aussie ones in particular. I didn't realise that he
- 41:50Speaker 1: used to date Cartier Milan. Yes, I told you after, like,
- 41:53Speaker 1: as soon as I turned, you know, you guys begged
- 41:55Speaker 1: me to watch Off Campus. I flicked it on and
- 41:57Speaker 1: I'm like, that's Cartier Milan's ex. I was like, how
- 42:00Speaker 1: can you not realise that? Yeah. I mean, I hadn't
- 42:02Speaker 1: seen it. Like I would have twigged straight away. I
- 42:05Speaker 1: know she spoke about him being an actor when they
- 42:07Speaker 1: were dating, but I didn't realize he was actually on
- 42:09Speaker 1: heartbreak high, which is where Ella became a fan of his.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:12Speaker 1: So she said that when she was auditioning for off campus,
- 42:15Speaker 1: they had to do all of these chemistry reads and
- 42:18Speaker 1: she discovered that she was doing one with Josh and
- 42:21Speaker 1: that they were actually staying in the same hotel. So
- 42:23Speaker 1: she rung up her friends and were like, oh my God,
- 42:25Speaker 1: he's here. And then when she was walking out to
- 42:28Speaker 1: get her taxi, she saw him coming. Now let's have
- 42:30Speaker 1: a listen. to what happened.
- 42:34Speaker 5: I booked the Uber. I'm waiting outside the hotel. I
- 42:36Speaker 5: see Dusty from Heartbreak High walk up. I literally went, ah,
- 42:41Speaker 5: ran across the street. Oh my God, I'm so scared.
- 42:43Speaker 5: And then he remembers me running away from him, which
- 42:45Speaker 5: is hilarious. But I, because I didn't think I got
- 42:47Speaker 5: the part at all. Like I, there was no part
- 42:49Speaker 5: of me that was like, I've got this in the
- 42:51Speaker 5: bag at all. I remember just saying to Josh, I
- 42:53Speaker 5: was like, you know what? I'm not going to see
- 42:55Speaker 5: him again. So I'm just going to tell him. I
- 42:56Speaker 5: was like, I love you and Heartbreak High. I'm a
- 42:58Speaker 5: big fan. Like, just want you to know that. Went
- 43:00Speaker 5: home being like, I'm satisfied. I told everyone that I
- 43:02Speaker 5: loved everybody. That's fine. And then I get the email. Oh,
- 43:05Speaker 5: we got the part and he's in it. And now
- 43:07Speaker 5: he's like one of my best friends.
- 43:08Speaker 1: So very fun. I remember being shocked finding out that
- 43:11Speaker 1: Ella was only 19, 18 when she filmed the show.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Hearing this, I'm like, oh, okay. No, she does sound
- 43:17Speaker 1: like she is a teenager now. I actually felt the
- 43:20Speaker 1: chemistry between them. It's so funny that she was playing
- 43:23Speaker 1: someone having a crush on the guy and she actually
- 43:25Speaker 1: did have a crush on him. This story actually reminds
- 43:27Speaker 1: me a bit of when we worked with Rob Mills
- 43:29Speaker 1: on Young Talent Time. So we got cast as runners
- 43:33Speaker 1: or something and showrunners. Yeah. And Millsy was hosting the
- 43:36Speaker 1: show and we absolutely loved Millsy growing up. Like we
- 43:40Speaker 1: were the biggest fangirls. My planner was just covered in
- 43:44Speaker 1: photos of him. But we went with the option of
- 43:46Speaker 1: pretending like we didn't know who he was. Like we
- 43:48Speaker 1: were just sitting there. I don't know what we thought
- 43:50Speaker 1: was going on. But despite the fact that we met
- 43:52Speaker 1: him several times at meet and greets, I mean, and
- 43:54Speaker 1: we are identical triplets, not saying that we're so memorable,
- 43:57Speaker 1: but like, you know, it's pretty funny because Millsy actually
- 44:00Speaker 1: popped up on my TikTok the other day. It was
- 44:02Speaker 1: his first TikTok video. And he did a bit of
- 44:04Speaker 1: an introduction of who he is. And the first thing
- 44:08Speaker 1: he said was, I potentially was your first crush. And
- 44:11Speaker 1: I was like, oh, my God. I read the comments.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I'm like, so many people like me felt seen. I
- 44:16Speaker 1: was like, how did he know? He's also been doing
- 44:19Speaker 1: a media tour at the moment with his fiance, Georgie Tunney.
- 44:23Speaker 1: I really want to sit down and actually listen to
- 44:24Speaker 1: the full podcast. I've been seeing the snippets on No
- 44:27Speaker 1: Filter with Kate Langbrook and the interview looks so good.
- 44:30Speaker 1: I want to know, was she a fan of his
- 44:32Speaker 1: growing up? Because she would have been around, she's a
- 44:34Speaker 1: little bit younger than Millsy. She probably, I think she's
- 44:37Speaker 1: around our age. So she would have been like 14,
- 44:39Speaker 1: smack bang, the age where you're going to have a
- 44:41Speaker 1: crush on someone like Rob Mills. Well, I love her
- 44:44Speaker 1: and I feel like we would actually, just putting it
- 44:46Speaker 1: out there, get on really well. She's got her own
- 44:48Speaker 1: Taylor Swift podcast. She's a journalist and Millsy was talking
- 44:51Speaker 1: about how he slid into her DMs and he kept
- 44:53Speaker 1: having to follow her up and he thought she had
- 44:55Speaker 1: this like really cool game and she was like, you know,
- 44:58Speaker 1: playing games with him and she's like, no, I didn't
- 45:00Speaker 1: have any game. And then he's like, oh, my little
- 45:02Speaker 1: nerd or something. And I was like, oh, it's kind
- 45:05Speaker 1: of refreshing when your high school crush dates someone similar
- 45:07Speaker 1: to you. Yeah, I feel like Georgie Tunney was living
- 45:10Speaker 1: out our dreams though. Like this seems like fan fiction
- 45:13Speaker 1: that Rob Mills years later would spot you on television
- 45:17Speaker 1: as a reporter and DM you. Like she is living
- 45:21Speaker 1: the absolute dream. I remember Soph interviewed him when he
- 45:24Speaker 1: was in Adelaide for one of his musicals. And I
- 45:28Speaker 1: remember I was meant to go do the interview with Millsy.
- 45:31Speaker 1: And then they're like, actually, we're just going to switch
- 45:33Speaker 1: crews and Sophie's going to go to that and you're
- 45:35Speaker 1: going to go to Sophie. It was like some fucking awful,
- 45:37Speaker 1: boring fucking story. And then I think he'd left tickets
- 45:41Speaker 1: for her on the door and I was like, this
- 45:43Speaker 1: is when he was single and I was like, message him.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Message him, thank you. Did she message him? No, that
- 45:48Speaker 1: was a wasted opportunity. She didn't even go either to
- 45:51Speaker 1: the concert. Fucking idiot. I have to share, I was
- 45:54Speaker 1: working at Channel 10 in the newsroom when they were
- 45:57Speaker 1: doing an interview with Zac Efron. And they took the
- 46:01Speaker 1: work experience girl and I was like, what the hell?
- 46:03Speaker 1: Can I just tag along, please? I do want to
- 46:06Speaker 1: point out, if you actually can tell our voices apart,
- 46:10Speaker 1: there have been periods where, Amy, you've had to go
- 46:12Speaker 1: settle your son who woke up from his nap and
- 46:15Speaker 1: Sophie has obviously disappeared at this point because her son
- 46:17Speaker 1: woke up. So I have been the constant throughout this episode,
- 46:20Speaker 1: but Amy and Sophie, you have jumped in back and
- 46:22Speaker 1: forth for anyone who's like, hang on, why does someone
- 46:25Speaker 1: keep disappearing? You're just stealing the magic there. Just breaking
- 46:26Speaker 1: down that fourth wall. Yeah.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Well- I think that is probably all we've got time for.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Thank you so much for listening to another episode of Outspoken.
- 46:35Speaker 1: If you do enjoy the show, we would love if
- 46:37Speaker 1: you could help us out by leaving us a five-star review.
- 46:39Speaker 1: So from what I was saying last week, we're at
- 46:41Speaker 1: a bit of a bismal. I think we're like at 3.6. Like,
- 46:44Speaker 1: come on, at least bring us up to a four.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Does anyone even look at the reviews? I don't want to. Anyway,
- 46:49Speaker 1: I mean, it would be nice if you could give
- 46:50Speaker 1: us a review. Also, if you want to hear more
- 46:53Speaker 1: from us, we drop a subscriber-only episode every Thursday for
- 46:57Speaker 1: Outspoken Plus subscribers. All the details to sign up are
- 46:59Speaker 1: in the show notes. Plus, we have a second podcast
- 47:02Speaker 1: called The Mums Group where we talk about poo even
- 47:05Speaker 1: more on there. So if you want to go listen,
- 47:08Speaker 1: go give us a follow. We actually had a lot
- 47:10Speaker 1: of people messaging us saying how much they enjoyed our
- 47:12Speaker 1: most recent episode because we spoke about things that Sophie
- 47:16Speaker 1: has learnt one year on into her parenthood journey. So
- 47:19Speaker 1: if that interests you, go give it a listen. This
- 47:21Speaker 1: episode was recorded on the traditional land of the Kaurna
- 47:24Speaker 1: people of the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect to elders
- 47:27Speaker 1: past and present.
