- 0:25psychology of wealth, abundance mindset, financial literacy, and
- 0:29the deeper beliefs that shape everything from debt and income
- 0:32to entrepreneurship, side hustles, and building multiple
- 0:35income streams. If you're ready to shift your
- 0:37relationship with money and step into a stronger wealth mindset,
- 0:41you're in the right place. Here's your host, Lisa Chastain.
- 0:44Welcome to Real Money with Lisa Chastain.
- 0:47Welcome back to another episode of Real MONEY.
- 0:49I'm your host, Lisa Chastain. I'm so grateful that you're
- 0:51here. And today I have a real treat
- 0:52for you. I have my mentor, Robert
- 0:55Pleasants, who is joining us today, and he's pretty
- 0:58incredible. Recently, over the last year and
- 1:001/2, he and I have collaborated to build the wealth within
- 1:04training. And today you're going to hear
- 1:06from Robert's perspective how powerful these trainings really
- 1:08are and why he decided to join forces with me.
- 1:11But let me give you a little bit of Robert's background before we
- 1:14jump in. He's based in Virginia Beach,
- 1:17born in Atlanta, he is a Georgia State University graduate with a
- 1:22degree in communication. He and I both have degrees in
- 1:24communication. He is a teen leadership and
- 1:27adult leadership legacy trainer who's worked with diverse
- 1:30organizations nationwide. He still does that today.
- 1:33His certifications and facilitation experience include
- 1:36the National Coalition Building Institute, Georgia State Bar
- 1:39Association, the United Way, the Carter Way.
- 1:43He's known for his powerful facilitation style, a blend of
- 1:46empathy and accountability that leads participants into deep
- 1:50healing, ownership, and the journey of transformation.
- 1:53We're going to talk about the word transformation on the show
- 1:56today, what it means, what it is, what it isn't.
- 2:00If you're in the question in your life of what next you can
- 2:03do to know yourself on a deeper level, to continue your
- 2:06elevation. Maybe you're making great money
- 2:09but you still have a sense of uneasiness or your success in
- 2:12some way feels hollow with episodes for you.
- 2:15Welcome to Real Money. Well, great to see you.
- 2:22We spend a lot of time together these days, yes.
- 2:25We do. I love all of the conversations
- 2:29that we have from our last conversation.
- 2:31You were in town last weekend and I came home and I shared
- 2:34with Jimmy, I feel like I'm in in some ways like that, that
- 2:38student, right? Or that not the word that's
- 2:40sticking in my head right now is protege, but it's not quite
- 2:42that. But like you just like have
- 2:44given me so much over the last couple of years and shared So
- 2:48what so much with me about how the work of transformation has
- 2:52become, how it's evolved. And I'm just learning so much
- 2:55from you, Robert. So as my mentor in this
- 2:57conversation, I'm really grateful that you're here.
- 2:59Well, it means a lot to me. You know, I said to you as we
- 3:01were parting ways last Saturday and our relationship is very
- 3:07unique in that, you know, you may feel like a mentee, but I
- 3:11sort of feel like a patient. You know, a lot of times I feel
- 3:14like you're my therapist right now because I just find myself
- 3:18just just gushing and a lot of it's very personal.
- 3:22And so I appreciate your, your listening the way that you do.
- 3:26We actually talk about that too. You've, you've always been a
- 3:28great listener personally for me.
- 3:30And, and I appreciate that greatly as a student, you were
- 3:32great. You, you, you were right there
- 3:34hanging on everything that was said.
- 3:35And there's nothing better than having a student in that place.
- 3:38And so it is absolutely. I just think this is, this is
- 3:41our, this is great time that we get to be together and, and do
- 3:44the work that we're doing. And so thank you.
- 3:48Yeah, it's funny because I knew 12 years ago that I wanted to be
- 3:53a trainer. I didn't know what the pathway
- 3:55was going to be. I didn't know how to get there.
- 3:58But through my own work, getting certified, it was like, all
- 4:01right, Lisa. And you know, you heard me say
- 4:02this now or never. I'm 45 years old.
- 4:05What am I doing? This is what I want to be doing.
- 4:07But I knew that I nobody. There's no such thing as someone
- 4:12doing something on their own. I don't believe that there's
- 4:15anything is there's no such thing as self-made.
- 4:17No one is truly self-made. It takes mentors, it takes
- 4:19community. And you and I have come in and
- 4:22out of the same communities. That's where I met you was at
- 4:24choice center so so long ago. I call, I was like, all right,
- 4:27well, how am I going to learn how to train in front of the
- 4:31room? Like where?
- 4:32Where does this all begin for me?
- 4:33I have a concept. How do I bring it to fruition?
- 4:37And at the same time that I called you, you had also had a
- 4:40vision of how you want it to evolve with the work.
- 4:43Do you mind sharing that? Well, so I've, you know, in my
- 4:46career, I've done a lot of work with adults in the area of
- 4:49leadership development, if you will.
- 4:51And about 20 + 2020, one, 22 years ago, some people asked me
- 4:55to put together a leadership training for teenagers.
- 4:57And so I've done that and you know, I'll deliver four or five
- 5:00trainings a year, you know, 2 or 300 students a year.
- 5:03But IA couple of years ago, it sort of came to me that I, I
- 5:07needed to, to branch out and to expand and to scale that
- 5:11training. And so to, to create three
- 5:15centers around the country that would be, you know, destinations
- 5:18for parents and students to come, kids, you know, teens and
- 5:21parents to come and do some training for four or five days.
- 5:24And so my job is to put the curriculum together and to train
- 5:28trainers to do that and to just to scale it, expand it and and
- 5:31have it be a thing. So, you know, that was sort of
- 5:34in the back of my mind. It's something I've been
- 5:37rolling, it's been rolling around there and now it's time
- 5:39to do something with that. And so you calling me is perfect
- 5:42because I would have called you and said, hey, Lisa, you might
- 5:45be perfect for this too. And so we're going to get to Co
- 5:48facilitate the very next team leadership training that we're
- 5:51going to that I'm going to do in June.
- 5:53We're going to do that together. And so I'm very, very excited
- 5:56about that. I've not had shared the stage a
- 5:58little bit in that training, but most of the time with with some
- 6:01of the therapists that I've worked with.
- 6:02But in this case this will be Co facilitation.
- 6:05So I'm very, very anxious and looking forward to that.
- 6:08Well, what we found out and putting the wealth within
- 6:10together is that we do work well together.
- 6:12I and that was. You never know.
- 6:14You know, I love you. I really, really just admire you
- 6:18and just completely blown away by all the knowledge and what
- 6:22I've learned from you. But I had no idea we would just
- 6:26we'd sync up so well in the room.
- 6:28Now, you know, in all of our conversations, it seems like
- 6:31we're thinking along the same lines.
- 6:33It's not like we have radical different opinions about how to
- 6:36deal with, you know, a large group of students in a training
- 6:39room. But and so I think that has
- 6:41something to do with it, but it's just, I was really, really
- 6:43just really impressed with us. Across the country for that Yay
- 6:48and and we were impressed with ourselves and each other, but
- 6:51also the students in the in the class gave the same feedback.
- 6:54Jimmy continues to tell me how well we worked together.
- 6:57It was so cute. If you're listening to this or
- 6:59watching this, Jimmy, I just love you so much.
- 7:01But he was like, man, I think I'm like jealous.
- 7:04Not in a not in like a weird way, but he said the the
- 7:08chemistry that you and Robert have in front of the room.
- 7:10He's like, I don't have any other way of describing it, but
- 7:13then I'm just jealous. Well, you and I have chemistry.
- 7:16He's like, I know, I know, but still.
- 7:17And so so there's another side of me that says, and the trick
- 7:20will be to keep it fresh and alive and and not to the rest on
- 7:24our laurels there. Yeah, we want to continue to
- 7:26grow ourselves. That's just a little side note
- 7:28between you and I. Agreed.
- 7:32So I'm going to take, I'm going to take our listeners.
- 7:35For those of you who are listening, watching this show,
- 7:37you may be familiar with Robert and me and the work of
- 7:40transformation. You may not.
- 7:41But what I've learned so much from Robert is the history of
- 7:45personal development and transformational work.
- 7:48And there's quite a history there.
- 7:50When I when I stepped into the the room in 2014, it was July
- 7:542014. There was some stuff going on in
- 7:55my life that I knew I needed to change and the only way to
- 7:58change that was to take myself on.
- 8:00I knew I had gotten to the end of myself and therefore there
- 8:03was only so much I could do on my own.
- 8:05And so when I stepped into the training and we're going to
- 8:07break down what the training means for the first four or five
- 8:10days, I was like, this is exactly what I've needed to get
- 8:13beyond my own limitations and really understand and see what's
- 8:16going on. It's also very much a whirlwind.
- 8:19You're not given a lot of information going in.
- 8:21It's a four or five day, very intense experience.
- 8:24There's one trainer in the room. The rest of us are students, are
- 8:27volunteers. And some people leave thinking,
- 8:30is this a cult? Like, what did I just get myself
- 8:33into here? And so just putting the elephant
- 8:35in the room, if you've been a part of these experiences or you
- 8:38have family members have been a part of these experiences,
- 8:41everyone, I think, asks that question.
- 8:43And there's a lot of history for how this work came along.
- 8:46And you found this work in the 1970s did, right?
- 8:49Well, it was 1980s, but the work started in.
- 8:52The 80s. The early 70s, yeah.
- 8:55So. Yeah, take us on that journey.
- 8:58So the way and then this is obviously I'm secondhand.
- 9:02I've I've heard from all the founders with all the people
- 9:04from way, way back. I'd work with a number of those
- 9:06people. And so let's go all the way back
- 9:08to World War 2. So in World War 2, basically in
- 9:11this country, a lot of the men that went to war and so you had
- 9:16carpenters and plumbers and electricians and, and people
- 9:19that did those jobs. And typically the way that you
- 9:21became a plumber was you started out as an apprentice and then
- 9:24you were a journeyman and then you eventually worked your way
- 9:26up to becoming a master plumber, electrician, you know, handy
- 9:30person. Well, these men went off to war
- 9:32in World War 2 and guess who stepped into the role of all
- 9:35those jobs and took them on with no real noticeable difference in
- 9:39productivity. And, you know, they did a good
- 9:42job, you know, and it was women. And so a group of people got
- 9:45together national trading laboratories and they said we
- 9:47need to study this, you know, here, this has been a 25 year
- 9:50process. And these women walk right into
- 9:53the, you know, these roles and picked up the ball where the men
- 9:56left off. And so they did a lot of
- 9:58research into that and, and how the, you know, how behavior and
- 10:02how, how, how beliefs impact, you know, people's people's
- 10:06thoughts and people's feelings and people's activities, you
- 10:09know, the choices they have available to them and the
- 10:10outcomes that they create and produce.
- 10:12And so there was a lot of sit insurance and tea groups and,
- 10:16you know, some real woo woo stuff that happened in the 60s.
- 10:19You know, the flower children, they definitely adopted, you
- 10:22know, this type of stuff. And the epicenter of a lot of
- 10:25this training work was I'm actually in San Francisco this
- 10:27week. So it's out here in the Bay
- 10:29Area. There were a lot of, a lot of
- 10:31people took some of the, some of this education and decided to
- 10:34make, you know, put some, some processes together and, and put
- 10:39a structure together. And so there was a group called
- 10:42Mind Dynamics. Alexander Everett was the
- 10:44founder of Mind Dynamics and he put a training together, very
- 10:47intensive training. And there were two people in
- 10:50that training that founded the two.
- 10:53You know, I guess the two leaders of the what we would
- 10:55call the human potential movement back in the early 70s
- 10:58was Warner Earhart. He started asked he was a
- 11:00student with Alexander and then John Hanley with Lifespring.
- 11:04He also was a was, was in the mountain dynamics trainings with
- 11:08Werner. And so they they both decided
- 11:11they went in a little different direction with their companies.
- 11:13Werner did much more. It was much more cerebral
- 11:16training. John decided to go down the, you
- 11:19know, much more the relationship and, and the heart of the human
- 11:23potential movement was, was more that training.
- 11:25And so those trainings boomed through the 70s.
- 11:29You know, there were 23 centers around the US at Life Spring.
- 11:32And I know Life Spring basically because that's where I came
- 11:34from, was in that group. You know, I came up through
- 11:36that, that that organization. And so I think when I did the
- 11:41trainings in 1988, there were, as I said, 23 centers in the
- 11:46country and we had graduated about 500,000 participants up to
- 11:50that particular point. I was a professional golfer back
- 11:52then, so I played golf. And a funny thing, I met a young
- 11:55woman in a nightclub, asked her out on a date and she invited me
- 11:58to a guest event. Literally we were going to go to
- 12:00dinner after. So I'm thinking this is some
- 12:02kind of, you know, water filters or MC calling cards.
- 12:05Those were a big deal back then. Every every multi level
- 12:08marketing group and that existed.
- 12:11I was always invited to their event.
- 12:12So I figured it was another one of those and I walked into a
- 12:14guest evening and, and, and two hours later I was enrolled in
- 12:19these trainings and had no idea this kind of education existed.
- 12:22Did the trainings in 1988. We had a level 1, which we call
- 12:26the basic training, which was really an awareness training.
- 12:29And then the second course was a five day intensive called the
- 12:32advanced course. And then after that was a
- 12:34leadership program for 90 days where you basically learn to, to
- 12:38take everything you learned out in the world and actually apply
- 12:41it. It was also an important part of
- 12:43leadership was, was learning to, to share the work too.
- 12:46So that's another, another, another valuable part of the
- 12:49training, if you will. And so I was always, I was just
- 12:53sort of blown away by what was going on in the front of the
- 12:55room and, and thought, you know, someday I think I can do that.
- 12:59And it was just one of those things where it just stuck with
- 13:01me about right after my leadership program, I took a
- 13:04position in Augusta Country Club and was sort of at the at the
- 13:08top of the food chain, if you will, in the golf business.
- 13:11I'm not happy at all. You know, it was like I wanted
- 13:13to be back in Atlanta. I want to, I want to learn how
- 13:15to do this. And so that's what I did.
- 13:17You know, I just left golf and there we go.
- 13:20And jumped in, jumped in and you've been.
- 13:22You're still a golfer, but in your heart, you're a trainer.
- 13:25Yep, they then have been now for gosh, so 89 from 89 to now.
- 13:31So that's 37 years and lots and lots of students and lots and
- 13:34lots of yeah. And so my, my, you know, back
- 13:37then you, you sort of, you took it slowly.
- 13:39You learned how to get up in front of different groups of
- 13:41people, different size groups of people, and then and then, you
- 13:45know, I was pretty good at it. And so they they put me in a
- 13:48number of different national positions and then I was I
- 13:50learned to lead different workshops and different
- 13:52trainings over the years. And then the family that started
- 13:55live spring in the in 2099, two thousand, they decided that they
- 13:59were they they were complete. They they've done it for long
- 14:01enough. And so those centers that they
- 14:04had basically shut down and there were lots of individuals
- 14:08that just didn't want the work to stop.
- 14:10So they open up their own and, and they would hire myself and
- 14:13other trainers like me to come in and, and work with students
- 14:16like yourself. And that's, that's kind of how
- 14:18that evolved and continues to evolve.
- 14:20North Carolina. There was a group in North
- 14:21Carolina that asked me to put the teen training together, you
- 14:23know, 25 years ago. And so that's where that, that
- 14:26was founded. And then so we've done, we've
- 14:28done that training all over the world now.
- 14:30And it, it exists. I've shared this with lots of
- 14:33other trainers who facilitate, you know, a very similar team
- 14:35leadership training to the one that I put together.
- 14:38And so it goes on all over the place.
- 14:40It's I can tell you the number of places that are doing it
- 14:42'cause I don't know who everybody is doing it, but I
- 14:43know there are. Amazing.
- 14:45All right, Well, we're going to hold on.
- 14:46I have, I want to transition the conversation to, OK, that's the
- 14:49history of the work, but I really want to talk about the
- 14:53work because it's people, people who've been in the work, say the
- 14:56work, but we need to talk about what that actually is.
- 15:00So someone listening could know whether or not it's for them,
- 15:03something that will be for them. So hold on, we're going to take
- 15:06a quick break and we'll come right back and talk about what
- 15:08the work actually is. Pause.
- 15:11If you're successful on paper, but still don't feel as powerful
- 15:15as you know you can be with money, the wealth within is
- 15:18where we change all of that. Link is in the show notes,
- 15:25Robert, yes, I have my degree in communication.
- 15:28You have your degree in communication.
- 15:29I've been doing leadership. I have been in a number of
- 15:33leadership roles my entire career.
- 15:35I get leadership the the work, quote UN quote.
- 15:38The work for me was my first time being in a room
- 15:41experientially and also in in emotional intelligence.
- 15:46What break that down for us? What is the work?
- 15:49So the way I explain it and have for years now is that you and I
- 15:54are born into a pre-existing set of beliefs, OK?
- 15:57They were beliefs that existed in your family and your, and
- 16:00your culture and your community long before you took your first
- 16:03breath, OK, But you've also, you and I both come into this world
- 16:07with DNA. And so we, we also, we bring
- 16:10with us generations of descendants and, and some of
- 16:14their beliefs and some of the things that occurred for them,
- 16:17you know, they're a part of us. And so we bring that those
- 16:19beliefs with us of this life, along with the preconceived or
- 16:22pre-existing set of beliefs that that are out there.
- 16:26And so we're born into this stuff.
- 16:27And the minute you take your first breath, you have an idea
- 16:30about how men are supposed to treat men and men treat women or
- 16:32women treat women and women treat men.
- 16:34We have beliefs about religion and beliefs about politics and
- 16:38beliefs about how much money is too much money and how much is
- 16:41not enough money and, and, and, and, and education levels,
- 16:44education levels, you know, And so then life starts to happen.
- 16:48You know, as we go through our lives, different events occur
- 16:51and, and we make up things about ourselves based on those, those
- 16:54events that occur in life. So we basically have this, this
- 16:57superhighway, this network inside of all these beliefs.
- 17:01And So what we do in this work, if you will, is we, we shine a
- 17:04spotlight first and foremost on some of the underlying beliefs
- 17:07and the assumptions that we make or have about ourselves as we
- 17:10relate to the rest of the world. And we make sure that those are
- 17:13lined up, if they're not lined up with my heartfelt desires
- 17:16and, and, and vision and what I want in my life.
- 17:18And then it's time to inspect this stuff.
- 17:20And we don't ever get away from it.
- 17:22It never goes away. Some of the limitations that we
- 17:25may have and some of the limiting beliefs that we may
- 17:26have, but we learn about them so that we can say, OK, thank you,
- 17:30you got me here thus far. But I think it's now time to
- 17:33create a belief over here or to remember that I have this belief
- 17:37also available to me inside. And I can, I can, I can utilize
- 17:42this to, to, to move me forward and begin to organize my being,
- 17:46to organize my thoughts and my, my feelings and my attitude and,
- 17:51and the choices that I have available to me and the actions
- 17:54that I take and then the outcomes that I have.
- 17:56At the end of the day, that's that, that that's what this is
- 17:58about. It's really becoming aware and
- 18:00then doing something with your awareness.
- 18:02You know, if I've got one option available to me, OK, I'm, I'm
- 18:04pretty powerful, but you give me two or three options in the same
- 18:07situation and all of a sudden I could be limitless.
- 18:10And so that really, when I think about the work, you know, that's
- 18:13what we're talking about. There was a study done back in
- 18:16O8 or O7 actually, O seven O 8, when the, when the housing
- 18:20market crashed and the economy blew up and, you know, there
- 18:23were a lot of corporations that had to make some really
- 18:26difficult decisions about who they were going to keep and who
- 18:29they were going to lay off in the workforce.
- 18:31And, you know, here you are, you know, senior executive with a,
- 18:34with a big company and you've hired this person with a Harvard
- 18:38degree. You know, that that came out of
- 18:40schools, second or third in their class.
- 18:41And this should be a can't miss, you know, executive.
- 18:44And then you've got this person that went to, I'm going to pick
- 18:46on Radford University, you know, in, in, in West Virginia.
- 18:50And this person, you know that they, they, they came out barely
- 18:54with a, with a 2.5 average, you know, and all of a sudden you're
- 18:58looking at who am I going to keep?
- 18:59Who am I going to let go? And you, you go, well, I'm going
- 19:02to keep the Radford person. And someone says, well, how come
- 19:05that, you know how in the world, well, this person, they dealt
- 19:09with pressure differently. You know, they, they were, they
- 19:12empathize with, with the people they were managing.
- 19:14Perhaps they were flexible in ways that this person just
- 19:18wasn't. They didn't have access to some
- 19:20of the same knowledge, let's say emotional knowledge, if you
- 19:23will. And so we all have an emotional
- 19:24intelligence quotient. And so the kind of work we're
- 19:27talking about gives us access to expanding our emotional
- 19:31intelligence because whether you're 98 years old or seven
- 19:35years old or 14 years old, as we've seen many times, I can
- 19:38expand myself emotionally very, very quickly just by becoming
- 19:41aware and looking at new possibilities and new options
- 19:44that I have available to me. And a lot of the lot of this is
- 19:47really about remembering, you know, you and I talked about
- 19:50this on Saturday, and it's something that's really occurred
- 19:52to me lately is that we're born whole.
- 19:54We're born complete. We're born with vitality and
- 19:57with passion, and we're born to live this life fully.
- 20:01And then life starts to happen and I start to believe my ego
- 20:05and. And start to do things that will
- 20:07get acceptance and, and, and, and, you know, will, will, you
- 20:11know, have me fit in, in some way in different parts of
- 20:13society. And, and so all of a sudden,
- 20:16some of the light inside goes away, You know, inauthentic self
- 20:20is constantly doing its thing. And, and, and all of a sudden we
- 20:24come to a spot like this or training like this where we can
- 20:26quiet the ego, if you will, and perhaps listen to the internal
- 20:30spirit and the and, and remember that vitality and remember the
- 20:34child and remember the joy and, and then bring those, those
- 20:37parts of me forward. So that's that.
- 20:40That's the work in my words. That's mine.
- 20:42I believe that it's less of a behavioral fix.
- 20:46It's not about teaching you to do anything differently in your
- 20:50life. It's really about beingness and
- 20:52that the formula, one of the only formulas that are given in
- 20:56any of the trainings, and I've been through pretty much all of
- 20:59them at this point, is be do half who you're being in the
- 21:03world will framework what you do and then lead into what it is
- 21:09that you have. But we live in a society,
- 21:11especially in Western culture, that says the opposite, that
- 21:14it's what you have that makes you who you are, and it's what
- 21:17you have that then dictates what you do, and then eventually
- 21:20you'll be happy. And what we're seeing mass level
- 21:24right now is that that's a lie. That's the ego.
- 21:27Yeah, the marketing companies out there will tell you have a
- 21:29Toyota drive the the mountain roads in California and you'll
- 21:33be happy, you know, have a lot of money.
- 21:35We, we see this in, in the wealth within have a lot of
- 21:38money and then you can travel and you can buy and you can live
- 21:42and you'll be happy. But we all know people that have
- 21:45lots and lots of money that are miserable.
- 21:47And so you know that that model doesn't quite work for me.
- 21:50It's always been, you know, be joyous, do what joyous people do
- 21:54and have joy. It's very, very simple.
- 21:57Model takes a little bit of work, baby steps to get started
- 22:00and then get into that, that, you know, into that mindset and
- 22:03that routine. I personally, you know, it's
- 22:05kind of, I bought in hook line and sinker way back and, and it,
- 22:09we live from that place for the most part.
- 22:11And then I've also got it as a feedback mechanism too.
- 22:14So if I'm off base, it's almost always I'll go back to, OK, who
- 22:18are you being? And based on these actions, who
- 22:20are you being? And is that who you want to be?
- 22:21Is that who you're committed to be?
- 22:23Why? Did these trainings get such a
- 22:26bad rap? Robert?
- 22:28I have my own answer, but in your opinion, having been in the
- 22:30work for 35 years. So it's like it's a double edged
- 22:34sword. You know, I, the first ground
- 22:37rule in our trainings is non disclosure.
- 22:40Don't tell people about the, the experiential parts of the
- 22:43training. Don't, don't let them.
- 22:45People might want to do this themselves.
- 22:46And so we don't want to give away what happens in the
- 22:48training. But I think a lot of people
- 22:50misinterpret that. And so they just, when they,
- 22:53when I tell my friend about this, I'm really weird about it
- 22:56because I don't disclose very much, you know, it's just this
- 22:58great thing. I did come do it, you know what
- 23:00I mean? And I think that just leaves
- 23:02people suspicious. You know, for the most part, for
- 23:05all these years, I've been undoing that with lots of
- 23:09graduates of these training so they can actually be, you know,
- 23:12honest and open and transparent with the people around them,
- 23:15young people. Also when I go to a training
- 23:17like this and all of a sudden I've had this market shift and
- 23:20people see something different about me, then they want to
- 23:23blame the thing, you know, they want to make it about the thing.
- 23:26And so that itself is there something out there that waves a
- 23:29magic wand? And after five, 710 days,
- 23:31you're, you're, you're, you're completely transformed.
- 23:35Well, I'm going to be a little skeptical about that.
- 23:37You know, I grew up in this work in Georgia and so the Southeast.
- 23:41And so, you know, I used to do a lot of sitting down and talking
- 23:45to ministers and priests and clergy people, you know, to to
- 23:50make sure that, you know, what I was saying and what we were
- 23:53doing matches up. And, you know, basically, if I,
- 23:56if I'd reduce there all those conversations to a nutshell, you
- 23:59know, all those people believe that, you know, all those
- 24:01various books, all those religious, you know, all the
- 24:03different religions just want you to be the best you you can
- 24:06be. Yeah.
- 24:07And and contribute and serve others.
- 24:09And so this is no different than that, but it gets a bad rap
- 24:14because of that kind of stuff. It's just I've never experienced
- 24:18it, but I'm pretty wide open about it.
- 24:20And so I'll share about my experience, what I learned and,
- 24:22and how the trains work and, and then people can make an honest
- 24:25decision. I think Tony Robbins help, you
- 24:28know, you know, Tony in the early 90s, he came on on TV.
- 24:32You couldn't sit in front of ATV set, not see an infomercial from
- 24:35Tony. And so, you know, Tony did all
- 24:37these trainings. He grabbed a little bit of
- 24:38everything he did over the years and and he put a package
- 24:42together that made it much more mainstream.
- 24:44And so today when you know, people talk about trainings that
- 24:47they've done, I don't think it's near as weird.
- 24:49And you know, it was way woo woo back in those days, but not so
- 24:52much anymore. Not so much anymore.
- 24:54Yeah, there are some bad actors too.
- 24:56Oh yeah. So, yeah, in the world of neuro
- 24:59linguistic programming, I'm a neuro linguistic programming
- 25:02trainer. I have all my certifications in
- 25:04neuro linguistic programming, as do you, not all of them, but you
- 25:07have through the master's level of neuro linguistic programming.
- 25:10And this is is a science and a technology of mindset and how
- 25:15people think. And also there are some bad
- 25:17actors that take this technology and don't use it in service and
- 25:22in the highest good of others. Would you say that's true?
- 25:24I've heard I've never really experienced anybody, you know,
- 25:27that used to, used to, you know, if they would call us a call
- 25:30back in the in the 80s. And it was like, well, you know,
- 25:34I've been to every trainer meeting for the last seven or
- 25:37eight years and I don't remember anybody bringing up, OK, this is
- 25:40how we brainwash people. There was never a brainwashing
- 25:42clap. I swear.
- 25:43I remember my dad saying, you know, when someone asked him
- 25:47about the trainings and he said, Jim, that that that stuff's
- 25:50brainwashing. And my dad goes, well, my brain
- 25:52needed a good washing, you know, So it's kind of like we just
- 25:58I've heard about that kind of stuff in some of the different
- 26:01modes of, of education. And could I see it happening, I
- 26:04suppose. But what it's so far removed
- 26:06from anything I would want to do.
- 26:08You know, we're going to talk to some people later on today
- 26:11about, you know, working with us in the training room.
- 26:13And, you know, if I'm going to pull the curtain back, you know,
- 26:17what has me, what has you, what has us be successful is our
- 26:21primary focus is on health. We want to make sure that people
- 26:24are safe with us and, and we're going to look out for them
- 26:28physically, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically,
- 26:31that's just what we're going to do.
- 26:33And then that's kind of the come from and it always has been a
- 26:35come from for me. And so, you know, from that
- 26:38place. Let's rock'n'roll.
- 26:41Yeah, same, same. The word transformation is such
- 26:44a big word. And ultimately, what I know, and
- 26:48we're going to take a break and then we're going to come back to
- 26:50this, is that if you truly desire something different in
- 26:55your life, whatever you're doing, whoever you're being is
- 26:58not getting you the results that you desire.
- 27:01It is not as simple as just changing your behaviors.
- 27:05It needs to happen at the identity level.
- 27:07To your point, Robert, it starts back from when we were children
- 27:10or ancestral or if you believe in, if you believe in this in a
- 27:14previous life, you come in with all of these, this baggage that
- 27:18you pull into this life with, then you're born into this
- 27:20family that has this belief in this operating system in this
- 27:23way of being. And if it's not working for you,
- 27:26it does require you to transform it, to change it to be something
- 27:32new. I'd rather use the word
- 27:34transform then change. But we're going to talk about
- 27:36how the work itself is also transforming and what Robert and
- 27:39I are doing as leaders in the work today.
- 27:41So stay, stay here. We'll be right back.
- 27:43Hey, if you're here to change your life with money, you've got
- 27:46to know that change happens one minute at a time.
- 27:49Let me be your daily reminder of where to focus so that you can
- 27:52have everything that it is that you want.
- 27:54One minute Money Mindset link is in the show notes and we're
- 28:01back. You had a question.
- 28:03No, I was just thinking about the last statement you made.
- 28:06Yeah. So I had a can a mentor tell me
- 28:09once that it's it's better to use the word transform over
- 28:14change because change presupposes that you're the
- 28:17thing that you're changing from is still in existence.
- 28:20It's almost an NLP framework. It's a way from motivation.
- 28:24I'm trying to change something that may or may not be
- 28:27changeable. Like I can't change a car into a
- 28:29horse. I can't do that.
- 28:30But if I wanted to, you actually have to transform the thing.
- 28:34And so in the work of transformation, I'm I'm still a
- 28:38woman. I'm still myself.
- 28:40I still have certain qualities about myself.
- 28:42There are these great qualities about myself, but my life
- 28:45transformed. I went through a divorce as a
- 28:47result of learning what I learned in these trainings of
- 28:50the baggage I had taken on, the limiting beliefs I had about
- 28:54myself, how I was operating in relationships, relationships
- 28:58transformed. I left some relationships, which
- 29:01I think may be unsettling for people to hear.
- 29:03I had to do some deep inner work for me to discover the the woman
- 29:07that I, that I saw myself as being, which is the woman that I
- 29:10am today, didn't exist in 2014. When I walked into the training
- 29:14room, I literally went through a transformation to get where I am
- 29:19today. That can be a buzzword of sorts,
- 29:21but I hope that that helps the listener understand our context.
- 29:26Is it people get wrapped up in the content of the training,
- 29:29what we actually do in the training, which is all very,
- 29:31very safe. What we do in the training, it
- 29:34can be somewhat uncomfortable, but it's the context of who
- 29:38you're being needs to be different or you just need to
- 29:41remember who you are at the highest level, at the highest
- 29:43good, at the highest best of yourself.
- 29:45And we forget those things because our ego get does a
- 29:47pretty good job of covering up some things, right.
- 29:50I don't know exactly know where I was going with that, but I
- 29:52wanted to make sure I I spoke into what transformation
- 29:54actually is as. You're speaking, you know, I'll
- 29:57piggyback on this a little bit when, when I'm changing
- 29:59something, that which I'm changing, I'm focused on and
- 30:02I'll persist it and persist it and persist it because I'm
- 30:05always focused on that which I'm changing.
- 30:07When and when I hear you're saying transform, it's like,
- 30:10it's like a demarcation from it, from whatever it was.
- 30:14That's sort of like the cocoon and the butterfly.
- 30:17The butterfly, you would never know the cocoon existed, yet it
- 30:19was important to get the butterfly to that point.
- 30:23So what I'm transforming myself to versus from is really, I
- 30:27think that's the focus. Where am I going?
- 30:30Yes, yeah. And for many, for many of us,
- 30:33it's about not going any place as much as it's remembering
- 30:36where I, you know, remembering what's in here and, and, and,
- 30:40and using that out there as I go.
- 30:41Yeah, which is the good stuff. Which is in my in my opinion,
- 30:45it's the connected, loving, kind, genuine fill in the blank
- 30:50of all the higher vibration ways of being.
- 30:54Yeah, my ego. Yeah, because my ego spends all
- 30:57of its time, all that chatter is it's searching out there, the
- 31:01outer world for what's always, always been in here.
- 31:04It just doesn't see it. It can't get to it.
- 31:06You know, we, we've talked about that in our training.
- 31:08What we're really working with people to do is quiet the
- 31:12clutter, the clatter, the. Yeah, so that we create some
- 31:16space. And from that, there are other
- 31:18voices in there, you know, my soul's in there, you know, and
- 31:23it says remember. And then all of a sudden now
- 31:26I've got options. I've got no options when it's
- 31:29full from a place of full, I can only react the minute I can
- 31:32quiet down. And Createspace in here, all of
- 31:35a sudden I have access to a whole lot of conversations,
- 31:39options, beliefs, you know, directions that I just, I just
- 31:42have to remember that they're in there.
- 31:44That's right. That's resourcefulness.
- 31:46I think we're teaching people how to return to
- 31:49resourcefulness, that you are the source and that it, it is a
- 31:52whole it, it's not as complicated as the world makes
- 31:55it out to be. That is one of my favorite,
- 31:58favorite parts of experiences like this.
- 32:01For four days, we can pause on our life.
- 32:03We ask, we ask for our, for the wealth within which we're going
- 32:06to talk about next students to, to spend 4 days with us 10:00 AM
- 32:10to 8:00 PM. Get your work done in the
- 32:12morning. Come and spend that time with
- 32:14us. Turn your phone off, connect
- 32:16with other people, connect with yourself, get some feedback.
- 32:20And we're going to guide you through a conversation and a an
- 32:24experience where you can take some of that layers, those
- 32:28layers, that ego off that you put on to armor up and protect
- 32:33yourself with and remember who you are.
- 32:36And then get back out into the world doing work from that place
- 32:40instead of disempowered states like anger, confusion,
- 32:43overwhelm, whatever shows up for you and disempowering ways.
- 32:47I love that about the work. What do you love?
- 32:49What do you love the most about being in the training room?
- 32:52It's a play, like you said, you know, I'm on this treadmill in
- 32:55my life. And you know, when I decided to
- 32:58do something like this, I jump off the treadmill and what I
- 33:00don't realize sometimes I'm saying, or maybe I do, I walk in
- 33:04and I'm going to get real honest.
- 33:06I've really always appreciated that is it?
- 33:09You know, I get real honest, like radically honest about
- 33:11where I am and you know, what's having me do what I do the way
- 33:16that I do it. How do I feel about that?
- 33:18What are some of the thoughts rolling around in my head?
- 33:20And, you know, let's, let's, let's really, really shine a
- 33:23spotlight on the stuff that I've been unwilling to look at.
- 33:26You know, let's really talk about the things that I want in
- 33:29my life, but I've not been willing to pay certain prices to
- 33:32get there. And how come I'm not willing to
- 33:34pay those prices? Because that's that's the stuff
- 33:36I really want to tackle. And the minute I can come to
- 33:39grips with that, which I've just not wanted to deal with and
- 33:42start to to experience it, to feel it, to talk about it, all
- 33:46of a sudden there's space that opens up and and new
- 33:48opportunities are, are available to me.
- 33:50And so the unlimited potential in human beings is just it's
- 33:53always been the thing that's just been the most amazing to
- 33:56me, you know, here and we history strewn with, you know,
- 34:00examples of human beings doing the impossible being the
- 34:03impossible, acting impossibly. So, you know, everybody has that
- 34:08ability. And so, you know, we've been
- 34:10picking on the ego a little bit here, but it's it's not as much
- 34:13we're not giving up our ego. It's learning how to balance.
- 34:16It's learning how to, you know, we see students that kind of
- 34:18come in, you know, a little sideways because, you know, I've
- 34:21been, you know, been putting a lot of, of weight and a lot of
- 34:24emphasis on listening to my ego and, and the rackets and the
- 34:29masks that I wear and, and the cover up, you know, to, to be
- 34:32accepted and to be approved of and to fit in and all the
- 34:35various domains of my life. And, and so I feel like a fraud
- 34:38sometimes when I'm in that place.
- 34:40And so, you know, that comes up for people in our trainings.
- 34:42And, and so, you know, just, you know, coming to grips with it is
- 34:45one thing. And then from there I can move
- 34:47to another direction if, if I choose to, and, and, and start
- 34:50to quiet things down. What another thing we're doing
- 34:52in our training that's really, really cool is we're utilizing
- 34:54breath work. Let's talk about that.
- 34:57Let's talk about Geo. I met Geo down in South America
- 35:025 or 6 years ago and, and we just kind of clicked.
- 35:05And, and I said to him when I first met him because he, he
- 35:08actually was one of the trainers of this, this, this process that
- 35:10I went through down there. You know, where we literally got
- 35:13in ice water for 45 seconds after he taught me how to
- 35:16breathe. And I thought that was really,
- 35:18really cool. But then I started doing more
- 35:19and more breath work and we did a whole lot of work that whole
- 35:22week and breathing. And it was like, gosh, I've
- 35:24always had people breathe, but it was just basically verbal
- 35:27cues to make sure they were with me and we're moving to the next
- 35:30thing or to breathe them through, you know, a moment.
- 35:33But this was entirely different. And so I said to him, you know,
- 35:36we're going to work together someday.
- 35:37And then when you and I spoke, first I thought, I think there's
- 35:41a way we can get at some of the real deep seated stuff, you
- 35:43know, the stuff that creates those real deep seated patterns
- 35:47and limits. I think we can get at some of
- 35:49that stuff through breath work. And so we spoke to Geo and he
- 35:52had some experience doing this. And so, you know, we've got a
- 35:55good with three hours, you know, and one night we got 3 hours
- 35:58where we really work with people through the, through their, what
- 36:01they're letting go. Some of it they're, they're
- 36:03completely conscious about. But a lot of it, a lot of the
- 36:06healing that goes on, a lot of the lot of the work that they're
- 36:08doing, the deep, deep work that they're doing is at an
- 36:11unconscious level, subconscious level.
- 36:13And it's just well, you know, next morning, you know, we hear
- 36:17it, it's, it's really, really powerful stuff.
- 36:19And so we're kind of bouncing around here, but that's really
- 36:22to me one of the most exciting parts of of what we're doing.
- 36:25We're taking your expertise, the things that I've done for the
- 36:29last 37 years and what Geo does, we're putting this package
- 36:32together and I think it's very, very powerful and the feedback
- 36:35has been fantastic. And so it's, I, I think it's a
- 36:38real opportunity there. And you know, we're talking
- 36:40about money to money, sort of the focus, if you will, for
- 36:43people walking in. But you've heard me say this,
- 36:45how I do anything is how I do everything.
- 36:47And so my limits as it relates to money, you know, the, the
- 36:51vibration, the, the, the, the, the attractiveness, you know,
- 36:54it, it impacts every area of my life.
- 36:56And so if we can clean up one place, we can clean up all
- 36:59places. And so really, really powerful
- 37:02stuff. We talk a lot about intention in
- 37:05this specific training. And when I say this specific
- 37:07training, Robert and I are independent of any other center
- 37:11that exists in the world today, have built a training, it's
- 37:16called The Wealth Within. It's a four day experience.
- 37:19It exists nowhere else on the planet.
- 37:22He and I have crafted it specifically for high capacity
- 37:26individuals to come take off the mask and do some inner work,
- 37:30deep inner work related to wealth.
- 37:33When we asked our participants in our beta training in January
- 37:36if the word financial breakthrough resonated with them
- 37:38and they were all like, no, it's not financial breakthrough.
- 37:42It's that they all walked out with a better interpretation and
- 37:47internal representation and experience of themselves as it
- 37:50relates to what wealth really means for them.
- 37:54And that's the beauty of it. If you can slow down for a few
- 37:56days in a guided way by experts, myself, Robert and Gio will take
- 38:01you on a journey for you to discover what wealth really
- 38:05means for you. Not coming from ego, but from a
- 38:09place of genuine, authentic connection and vision for your
- 38:13life, who you are, who you're born to be, what your vision is
- 38:17for your life and what your intention is.
- 38:19And you and I have been very intentional with saying we're
- 38:22going to build this in a way that people can get underneath
- 38:25the surface and then walk out cleaner and also in a healthier
- 38:29version of themselves as it relates to why they are creating
- 38:32wealth in the first place. We're intentional beings.
- 38:35Before we take our first breath, we intended to be born.
- 38:39And so it just comes with us. It it's almost like the entire,
- 38:42you know, it's, it is a packaging of you and I as human
- 38:45beings. And we're going to get
- 38:46someplace, a lot of times our intent is unconscious to you and
- 38:49I. And so in this particular four
- 38:51days, we bring it from the unconscious forward so that
- 38:54people can actually one, understand what their intention
- 38:57has been and what it can be for the future.
- 39:00And so, you know, it's, it's very, very powerful in that way.
- 39:03Very. Very powerful wealth is not a
- 39:05number. Nope.
- 39:07Capacity. It's emotional, it's in your
- 39:10nervous system, it's in decision making.
- 39:13And everybody's number is different.
- 39:15And if you're looking for that kind of room to be in, to be in
- 39:19your own question about what wealth really means for you,
- 39:22Robert and I would love to meet you in the room.
- 39:26The next training is April 30th through May 3rd.
- 39:28We have another one in September and we're rolling out next
- 39:30year's as well. But just so, so grateful for
- 39:33you, Robert. And I feel the same way about
- 39:35you, Lisa. This is fantastic and I can't
- 39:37wait to see what we do moving forward.
- 39:40We're doing it. We're doing it well.
- 39:43If you have any questions about the Wealth Within, go ahead.
- 39:45And you know, it's in the show notes for today.
- 39:48If you want to learn more about Robert, you can find that on the
- 39:50Wealth Within website. We'd love to see you in the
- 39:52room. I'd love to hear from you.
