- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop and I am In the chicken
- 0:31coop today, rain, rain rain rain and more rain.
- 0:34So we are inside and it's really actually nice in here with the
- 0:39sound on the metal roof, it's pretty cool.
- 0:41Anyway, today, we are talking about how you define yourself.
- 0:45This is always a fascinating question to ask somebody, or
- 0:49even yourself for that matter. Because most of the time we
- 0:52don't think about defining ourselves.
- 0:54We just think about, you know, what we have to do, and the
- 0:57chores of the day and what has to get done and We rarely take
- 1:01the time to pause and say wait. How do I Define myself?
- 1:05Because we have so many different areas of ourselves.
- 1:09Most of us have relationships, whether we're children to
- 1:13somebody or were parents to somebody or were grandchildren
- 1:16to somebody. We're Partners, where wives were
- 1:19husband's where an employee business owner, a leader, all
- 1:27these different roles actually are.
- 1:30Used in the definitions of ourselves, but I'm not just
- 1:34talking about the big role portion of this.
- 1:36I'm talking about the humanness of you, how do you define the
- 1:40humanness of yourself when you get down to it, the phrases, I
- 1:44am, whatever, that I am might be, I am creative.
- 1:48I am loving. I am, you know, abundant, how do
- 1:53you think of yourself? How do you define yourself?
- 1:56And typically, this isn't Something that anyone teaches
- 2:02you this isn't something that you sit there and school and you
- 2:05say, okay, I'm going to figure out how now, how I Define myself
- 2:08what happens is it comes out in the moments.
- 2:11I am frustrated. I am sad.
- 2:13I am overwhelmed. We use that phrase so readily
- 2:18when it comes to certain things, but not typically the healthy
- 2:22things, it usually shows up with the unhealthy aspects of stuff
- 2:28and before, you know it we're in a place.
- 2:30Where we are actually really like embedding this into our
- 2:35subconscious. That this is who we are.
- 2:37I am broke. I am out of money.
- 2:41I am whatever language. You want to use on it, lots of
- 2:44times. This shows up with money.
- 2:46So it's important to pay attention to that piece because
- 2:49it's a very sensitive spot. As you've heard me mention
- 2:52before. But this, I am phrase tends to
- 2:57show up in the negatives and and, you know, I am out of.
- 3:02I'm out of ideas. I'm starving.
- 3:05I love that one. When people say that I'm
- 3:07starving, that's starving, we're hungry.
- 3:10It's that simple. But we always over-exaggerated
- 3:13and then we put ourselves in this place of lack.
- 3:16And once you start that again, the phrase, I am many teachers
- 3:21will talk about the facts especially especially if you're
- 3:24in you know, religious teachers or spiritual teachers.
- 3:28The I am phrase is the Closest phrase that you can use to the
- 3:34Holy Ground if you will, because it's talking directly and at to
- 3:39whatever you might believe to God to the universe and it
- 3:42speaks to how you view yourself in the world.
- 3:45So when you start using it and you use it haphazardly, it is a
- 3:50dangerous dangerous Pond of thin ice, my friends.
- 3:55So the first step in this is asking yourself.
- 3:58Well, how do I Define myself? A piece of paper, sit down and
- 4:02start to ask yourself. Well, what else, what are the
- 4:05other things, you'll start? You'll get a few off that your
- 4:08head right away. Like, was when I start mine, one
- 4:09of the very first things that comes up for me, is I'm
- 4:12creative. It's part of my identity that I
- 4:15developed early on, in my life and I am very, very blessed that
- 4:18I had a grandmother who really like poured into that part of me
- 4:23and talked about it all the time.
- 4:25Anytime, I drew something, for her.
- 4:27Anytime I painted something, she would always say, oh my gosh.
- 4:30So creative, you're so creative. You're so creative.
- 4:33So I believed her and I was fortunate for me that she was
- 4:37putting in something really wonderful because very easily,
- 4:40she could have been putting in something not so wonderful, you
- 4:44know? And that happens all the time,
- 4:46you know, it happens all the time where somebody doesn't
- 4:49realize what they're doing, you know and boom for you know it
- 4:54but they are view of. You becomes your belief and your
- 4:57Iams, but when you sit down and you start asking, Asking the
- 5:00question, who am I? How do you define yourself
- 5:04across the board? I am organized.
- 5:07I am full of love. I'm kind, I share readily with
- 5:11my friends. These definitions are the
- 5:18roadmap to defining yourself. Yes, but redefining yourself
- 5:23really. So if there are things on there
- 5:26that you don't feel are accurate about, Yourself.
- 5:31When you look back at the list and you say, well, you know, I
- 5:35am like especially around the negative ones.
- 5:37If you look back and you say well this is here but I don't
- 5:40want this to be here. You can redefine this but you've
- 5:43got to be honest with yourself when you start to write the
- 5:45list. So the first thing you're going
- 5:48to notice is you'll come up with a few right away and they may be
- 5:52positive, they may be negative, they may be a mix of mix of both
- 5:55but it's not important that you sit there and say okay these are
- 6:00- these are positive. What's important is that you
- 6:03nail the list down and get that first wave, then they'll be a
- 6:07second wave. So I suggest what you do is just
- 6:10keep it out and that's really loud right now, because he's
- 6:12right above my head, you got your, the second list, will show
- 6:16up for the second part of the list and it will flow out of you
- 6:21over the course, typically of 24 to 48 hours, where you'll start
- 6:25to get more and more clarity, you'll have more and more things
- 6:28that pour out of you. You'll have a thought Write it
- 6:31down, you have a thought and write it down.
- 6:32So some people find that doing this on paper with a pencil is
- 6:35great. Some people will keep notes on
- 6:37their phones, but whatever, whichever way you decide to do
- 6:40it. Allow yourself enough time to
- 6:42get a full list of things and a full identity that, you know,
- 6:48you feel is pretty accurate of how you see yourself currently.
- 6:51Then you can go back and say which one's of these do I want
- 6:55to keep and which ones of these do I want to reshape and the
- 6:58reshaping process? Is simply taking those
- 7:02negatives, moving them, off the list, rewriting them, another
- 7:07word. So if you think I'm poor, I'm
- 7:09broke. If that's on your list.
- 7:11A positive would be, I'm abundant, I have more than
- 7:14enough money. I'm a money magnet.
- 7:17You can start doing the flip the office.
- 7:19It will these feel right in the beginning.
- 7:22No, but this is part of the re-identification that you're
- 7:24going through the redefining if you will.
- 7:27So you just have to be patient with yourself and start the
- 7:29process off. So Now that's what you're going
- 7:32to focus on. That's what you're going to do
- 7:33and I hope you guys have a fabulous day.
- 7:36Defining, who am I? I'll see you guys tomorrow.
- 7:39Bye.
