- Lucas: Hej och välkommen till episod 38 av Learn Swedish with Fexingo! Luna: Hey everyone, I'm Luna – and we are back! Ready for more Swedish? Lucas: Absolutely. And today we're going to talk about things you find in a home. Household items. Luna: Oh, like furniture? I know we did breakfast and dinner words, but not the stuff around the house. Lucas: Exactly. So today we have five words. And they're all in a special form – the definite form. You'll see what I mean. Luna: Ooh, definite form sounds fancy. Let's hear the first one. Lucas: First word: bordet. Bordet. Luna: Bordet. That's 'the table', right? Because 'bord' is table, and then 'et' makes it 'the table'. Lucas: Yes! 'Bord' is table, and adding '-et' makes it 'the table'. So bordet. Great memory. Luna: Bordet. Bordet. I like that. So if I say 'bordet', I mean a specific table. Lucas: Exactly. For example, 'Bordet är stort' – The table is big. But let's just focus on the word itself. Next one: stolen. Luna: Stolen. That's 'the chair', right? Because 'stol' is chair. Lucas: Perfect. Stol becomes stolen. So stolen means the chair. Say it with me: stolen. Luna: Stolen. Stolen. It sounds a bit like 'stolen' in English, but it's not the same. Lucas: Right. Just a coincidence. Next: lampan. Luna: Lampan. That's 'the lamp'? Because 'lampa' is lamp. Lucas: Yes. Lampa becomes lampan. So lampan. Good. Luna: Lampan. That one is easy. Next? Lucas: Next: sängen. Luna: Sängen. That's 'the bed'. 'Säng' is bed, so sängen. Lucas: You're on fire today. Sängen. And the last one: dörren. Luna: Dörren. Door becomes dörren. So 'the door'. That's a bit tricky with the double r. Lucas: Yes, 'dörr' is door, and then dörren. So it's like 'dörr-en', but you pronounce it smoothly. Dörren. Luna: Dörren. Dörren. I'll practice that one. Lucas: Great. Let's say them all together. I'll say each, you repeat. Bordet. Luna: Bordet. Lucas: Stolen. Luna: Stolen. Lucas: Lampan. Luna: Lampan. Lucas: Sängen. Luna: Sängen. Lucas: Dörren. Luna: Dörren. Nice! I feel like I'm in a Swedish furniture store. Lucas: Oh, that reminds me – you know that big furniture store from Sweden? It actually uses these words. Luna: Really? Like the names of their products? Lucas: Yeah, sometimes. But anyway, let's use them in a simple sentence. For example: 'Var är stolen?' – Where is the chair? Luna: Var är stolen? That's from our directions episode. So 'Var är stolen?' – Where is the chair? Lucas: Exactly. And you could answer: 'Stolen är här' – The chair is here. Or 'Stolen är där' – The chair is there. Luna: So 'Stolen är här.' Let me try another: 'Lampan är där.' The lamp is there. Lucas: Perfect! And 'Sängen är här.' The bed is here. Luna: Sängen är här. Okay, I'm getting the hang of it. Lucas: Now let's do a quick dialog. I'll ask a question, and you answer using the word. Ready? Luna: Ready! Lucas: Var är bordet? Luna: Umm... Bordet är här? Or maybe där? Lucas: Let's say 'Bordet är här.' So the table is here. Luna: Bordet är här. Okay. Lucas: Now: Var är dörren? Luna: Dörren är där. Lucas: Yes! And where is the lamp? Var är lampan? Luna: Lampan är här! Lucas: You're a natural. So today we learned: bordet, stolen, lampan, sängen, dörren. Luna: Bordet, stolen, lampan, sängen, dörren. I love how Swedish puts the 'the' at the end of the word. Lucas: Yeah, it's a neat feature. And now you know five household items in their definite form. Luna: So next time I walk into a room, I can say 'Här är sängen' or 'Där är lampan'. Lucas: Exactly. And if you ever go to that Swedish furniture store, you might even recognize some words. Luna: That's so cool. Thanks, Lucas! And thanks to all of you listening. Keep practicing these words around your home. Lucas: Yes, repetition is key. Say them out loud when you see the objects. Bordet, stolen, lampan, sängen, dörren. Luna: And don't forget to subscribe to Learn Swedish with Fexingo for more tiny lessons. Hej då! Lucas: Hej då, and see you next time! Vi ses!
