- 1:17case Book of Gregory Hood. And if you listen to the Basil Wrathbone and
- 1:22Nigel Bruce Sherlock Holmes series, particularly the last season from nineteen thirty five to
- 1:30thirty six, there'll be some familiarity here. Patrick Wine, the sponsor of
- 1:38Sherlock Holmes, sponsored the Casebook of Gregory Hood as a replacement series for the
- 1:47summer with the hops that Sherlock Holmes would return for another season with Wrathbone and
- 1:53Bruce. However, Wrathbone was tired of the series and the series would continue
- 1:57on with Tom Kong and Nigel Bruce over on ABC. The series was written
- 2:05by by Dennis Green and Anthony Boucher, who were the writers of of Sherlock
- 2:15Holmes. This was a series that would have a surprising life and continue off
- 2:20and on until the nineteen early nineteen fifties. And we'll start off with the
- 2:25very first ten episodes, and the star of that series is mister Gail Gordon.
- 2:31Gordon was listed as number six on my list of Radio's most Essential People,
- 2:38so we'll have quite a bit to say about Gail Gordon, and of
- 2:42course he will feature prominently in our ap extras. And the co star at
- 2:50the start of the series is William Johnstone, who of course stars on Saturday's
- 2:54episode of the lineup. So for a few weeks you'll hear William Johnstone as
- 3:00the co star on Tuesday and the star on Saturday. So all right,
- 3:05well, let's go ahead and take a listen. Let's go open up the
- 3:09casebook for of Gregory Hood from June third of nineteen forty six. Petree Wine
- 3:16brings you the Casebook of Gregory Hood Tonight for Petrie Family, the family that
- 3:30took time to bring you good wines. Invite you to listen to the story
- 3:35of the Free Silver Papers, another exciting story from the case Book of Gregory
- 3:40Hood. And I'd like to invite you to try something that will turn those
- 3:45impatient minutes you spend waiting for dinner to be served into a time you really
- 3:50look forward to. You can do that by pouring yourself a glass of Petrie
- 3:54California's sharing. Yes, just sit back and enjoy that Petrie sherry. Good.
- 4:00It's great. Just hold that glass of Petrie sherry to the light and
- 4:04notice the beautiful, deep ambered color, clear as crystal. Get the aroma
- 4:10of this fine wild It has all the fragrance of the luscious sun life and
- 4:14grapes from which it's made. But wait, do you taste that Petrie sherry.
- 4:18Then I can stop talking, because you'll know for yourself how good it
- 4:21is. Oh and say, if you like your sherry dry, you know
- 4:25not sweet. Petrie makes a delicious dry sherry, Petrie pale dry. If
- 4:30you don't know which you prefer, the regular sherry or the pale dry?
- 4:34Why not dry them both. Don't buy one, buy two, but just
- 4:39be sure you always buy Petrick. Well, it's Monday evening in San Francisco
- 5:01and we have a date with Gregory Hood and his friend Sanderson Sayre Rondezvous to
- 5:06night is at Gregory's apartment high on nob Hill and overlooking the San Francisco Bay.
- 5:12That's keep our date, Joey. Good evening is about Hello, Quong,
- 5:18mister Hurd expecting you. I've already arrived. Please to go into thanks
- 5:24pan he what tell hell? Hello, Sandy, sand is here? Good
- 5:30evening, Harry in Gregory, Oh please don't stop playing? That sounded as
- 5:33well? Oh you like it. This is our first appearance on the radio.
- 5:42I thought i'd whip up a little number in honor of the occasional other
- 5:46radio shows have a museful theme. I thought this might be appropriate for aum.
- 5:50So. As well as being the head of Gregory Hood and Company Imported
- 5:54and an amateur detective, you're also a composer in a very modest way,
- 5:59Harry, how about you, Sandy. I know that you're mister HUD's attorney
- 6:02as well. As as close as flans. Do you have any unusual talent
- 6:06you've been hiding under a bushel? No, Harry, I'm a very dull
- 6:10dog, complander Gregory. I'm a good family man. I should an erratic
- 6:14game of golf, and I wield a writ of habeas coffee with the moderate
- 6:16ticket. Don't believe a word, he says, Harry, Sandy has many
- 6:20hidden talents. The fact that you will find out it's tonight's story gets under
- 6:24way with Rukeffert glass of Sherry. Oh, that'd be very nice story.
- 6:28Which particular page of a notebook if you decided to turn two for your first
- 6:31story, a page that has the heading the Case of the Three Silver Pasos.
- 6:35So we thought it was an adventure that would show you, Harry,
- 6:38that Gregory and I really don't go looking for trouble, although we do have
- 6:42an uncanny facility for meeting up with it. And how did the three Silver
- 6:46Pasos catch up with him? Well, it was about six o'clock one evening
- 6:48a few weeks ago that Sandy and I started our drive across the Bay Bridge
- 6:53found for Sandy's home in the berg the Hills. Little did we think that
- 6:56what promised to be an evening of present. Domesticity was destined, and it
- 7:00was wild and bullying adventure. Bridge is beautiful and design isn't dragging sun.
- 7:08It's just the same. I'm necessary boat. Well, if you made the
- 7:11trip across as often as I do, you wouldn't. The bridge is not
- 7:15half an hour off the trip. Even so, I see, hey,
- 7:17look at that cord. Why doesn't he stand in his own lane? He's
- 7:21an oozer. They drives me crazy. What's an oozer? Plenty of them
- 7:26on the roads. When they change reins and never give a signal. They
- 7:29just ooh, watch out. He's weaving from side to side. Now he's
- 7:34pulling in toward the rail. He's going to stop and but you cannot allow
- 7:38to stop on the brim. He must be ill and I'm going to pull
- 7:40up at ky. He's helping the car down. He's staggering for the pos
- 7:46suicide is the com get away from that terrific too hired jop for you,
- 7:51my friends, Sandy hold him, say who are you God? God?
- 8:01Yes? Yes, a gun would be simpler. Come on, get in
- 8:03our car. We'll see you home greatly thick, he's James. Get into
- 8:09the car for devil. I suppose his heart gave him his wish and get
- 8:11into a doctor fast. We may be wrong. Oh hit him a copy
- 8:18your car stop on the bread moment, and we've got to get this man,
- 8:20doctor, officer. He's sill his hells. What about a car?
- 8:24You get his car cleared off the brig officer. We'll call back when we
- 8:26get to the Oakland side and make our reports. Okay, get movements.
- 8:41He is dead, Gregory. I'm sure as you find any identification on him.
- 8:45According to his valet, his name is Harrison Travers and he's from Los
- 8:48Angeles. Anything in his pocket package to chest the fuse room key from the
- 8:52hotel? Bottom o that one of those flea dumps on Search Street. What
- 8:56else we till the fellow? Is it a small glass vial simply regulating?
- 9:05Slow it? Good, lord tynide. Do you suppose he swallowed it as
- 9:09he stepped out of the car for these As soon as we get across the
- 9:13bridge, we'll stop at the mirror doctors and find out. And that's not
- 9:26story, Doc Donald, What explanation can you give? Doctor? This is
- 9:28a fantastic keys gentleman. You see that the man talked of the gun,
- 9:33carried an empty cyanide vial, tried to jump off the bridge and apparently died
- 9:37of heart faisi. I tried doctors. All very interesting, my friends,
- 9:41But this body happens to have been stabbed. Sad what He died from a
- 9:46sharp instrument piercing the chest near the hut. This gentleman is murdered. Yeah.
- 10:05Back, we head for the bridge to San Francisco with a corpse as
- 10:07a passenger, just at the time we should be having a martini. Who
- 10:11am, It's the only tenable thing to do, Gregreen. The border line
- 10:15between San Francisco and Alameda County runs right through the center of the bridge.
- 10:18The murder happened on the San Francisco side, So we hand a nice new
- 10:22corpse over to Lieutenant Macgruder of Homicide, who hates me and probably won't believe
- 10:26a word with saying we can't take any chances. Gregory, we're mixed up
- 10:31in a murder key true, true, but Macgruder will probably say the guy
- 10:35was stabbed to death in my arms. I'll have a heck of a job
- 10:37proving he wasn't. Macgrudor loves to put the finger on me. Now,
- 10:41Gregory I'm not going to allow you to get mixed up in this any further.
- 10:43But I am an expander up to my chin. I've dropped to follow
- 10:46through to clear myself. But doctor Arnold made that stabbing business perfectly clear,
- 10:50Gregory. A man who such a wound might easily think it a mere scratch
- 10:54and walk around for an hour before he drops in The police. Surgeon will
- 10:58understand, I hope. So did you call Mary? Yes, yes,
- 11:01I said we'd be back by seven thirty. It's all right. I suppose
- 11:05you told her we just had to run across back to the city. Yes,
- 11:07a wonderfully understanding girl man when she knows I'm with you, Gregory,
- 11:13she's bad for anything. Why it was shoving? Don't you see the damsel
- 11:18in distress teetering on the curve ahead of him? Damsel nothing, Damsels don't
- 11:22come rhyme? Oh you must God against being snobbish. Then in many kids
- 11:26we've got a sah. We will say he's a bit under the weather.
- 11:31Have been young Rader's room for three in front so oh godly, I was
- 11:33beginning to think you've never got along, Sam. I'm Denallopy Tennis is good.
- 11:39My name is Taylor and mine's good. What's wrong with your friends about
- 11:41him? Oh? You got to feel very well, dear sir, Oh
- 11:46well was that before? Don't you think it's a little dangerous for young girls
- 11:50to hit rhymes across to Britain. Don't worry, mister Penny can take care
- 11:54of herself. I had a day of seven sixteen and I just mister trainer
- 11:58didn't want to wait. Well, I'm sure you didn't have to wait long
- 12:01for a hour. I didn't, but I'm choosy. Too many long wolves
- 12:05on wheels and when we slowed down ten air, suppose the natural honesty of
- 12:09our expressions socided you that you'd be safe without say, you're pretty smooth.
- 12:15What's your other name, mister hood? Gregory? I don't know how safe
- 12:18a girl would be with you, Gregory. I got you. You're a
- 12:20good time. I am refuted to have my moment, Penny Gregory. Don't
- 12:26you think it was the mister Travers in the banquet programs? Off shopping?
- 12:31Let me out of brand new. That's a couple with these modern hats.
- 12:35I have no stamina. I'll go back and get it for I watch the
- 12:39traffic, Gregory, don't get out that side. I don't worry, Sanny.
- 12:41I never commit to a side. On Monday, I move a little
- 12:45bit. I'll be back in your friends mine. What did he do?
- 12:52Why he's in the importing business along? Here's not a Honolulu tripper going to
- 13:00help. I don't see it good well, I'll be what happened Henny stole
- 13:11our car and our car and the Lieutenant Magruder is never going to believe this
- 13:18one. And that's a story, lie Tennant magudda, And you're expecting me
- 13:31to believe it. I suppose what did I tell you? Sandays? Misterhood
- 13:35you're in the importing business. I keep my nose out of that kind of
- 13:37stuff. Why do you make yourself up with a homicide gig? I didn't,
- 13:41Magruder. It mixed yourself up with me. Yeah, don't give me
- 13:43that. You think you're a hot shot detective. You're a smart boy who's
- 13:46always trying to show us up as a bunch of flat foot Don't waste my
- 13:50time, Magruder. The San Francisco Police Force is one of the finests in
- 13:54the country. Why do you have to spoil the records? What do I
- 13:56have to do to make you realize it's been a murder. Show me a
- 14:00murdered man. But we had him. His corps was in the stolen car.
- 14:03Sure, sure, And before he was stiff, you thought he was
- 14:05going to jump off the bridge. Then he had a heart attack, then
- 14:09he was going to shoot himself, then that he's poisoned himself, and finally
- 14:11a doctor told he been nice. Yeah to cap it all off, a
- 14:15blonde babe steals your cock and your car. Who you're trying to kid?
- 14:18Well, I admit that it sounds unlikely, but it's true, Magruder,
- 14:22prove it. How about the traffic cop who came up to us on the
- 14:24bridge, Yeah, he drove the dead man's car way ahead of it.
- 14:28He must have senn in a report. He Now, well, I've checked
- 14:31your records and there hasn't been a traffic report from the babe bridge since four
- 14:35o'clock. Now, what are you saying, mister Hood, that I'll prove
- 14:39it to you? Come on, Sandy, come back on Saturday, mons
- 14:41Hood, it's my day off. You see how much your law abiding instincts,
- 14:50super sender Magruder doesn't believe us, And see what your shivalrous instincts did
- 14:54for it your damsel in distress runs off with your car and the evidence start
- 15:00follow this thing through the pool. I'm a bruder that we're not nuts.
- 15:03You've got to call Mary and tell her it will have to be a midnight
- 15:05snack. Okay, Gregory, but I don't see where we go from here.
- 15:09Luckily I kept these three objects that were in the dead man's pocket.
- 15:11They're the only clues. We've got a hotel key, empty vial, and
- 15:18free silver pat here. Let's take the key first, Hotels, bottom room
- 15:24seven. All right, time it that's our first port of call. What
- 15:39a ghastly jump, guigery. But as you see service with an allaed smile.
- 15:43Oh good evening. Well, I'm so glad. I hope you stay
- 15:46that way. What do you want to see, mister Harrison trappers now travers
- 15:50here? Never while? But this key to our seventh God glad to have
- 15:56it back, stolen promised months ago? Thanks mine? Who's living in that
- 16:00room? I am night? You know, Gregory, I'm beginning to think
- 16:21that Magruder was nice and that this whole business didn't happen after all, And
- 16:26I'm getting his office in It's all get out. I didn't believe that hotel
- 16:29clerk. But I couldn't first the room without a police warrant, and with
- 16:32mcgrudy in his present frame of mind, that wouldn't be the easiest things.
- 16:36Again, where we headed for now? The shop of my old friend Goldwasser
- 16:41along here somewhere. How can he help us? He's a coin dealer,
- 16:45the best in San Francisco. I want to ask him about these three silver
- 16:48papos. Ah, here's a shop. Hello Hendrick here? Why? How
- 16:55good to see you? This is mister Sanderson's Taylor. How do you do?
- 16:59Who's gone? Let's go into my romance affair. We can't sit down
- 17:02and becomfortable, kind Gregory fine has thought it better for seeing you after this
- 17:07long time, So sit down just a very special occasion. Perhaps you will
- 17:12join me in a little glass of thought, my prayer. Wonderful idea,
- 17:15Heinrich, we're in something of a jam. I'm hoping you can help us,
- 17:18So tell me to see what you can do. Take Gregory, mister
- 17:22Taylor, No, show me how I may help you. Henry. I
- 17:27want you to look at the subotasters. Is there anything odd or rare about
- 17:33them? Or any way we could trace their ownership non comen call from you.
- 17:41I have many such deplicate cards here. I would check this for wad
- 17:45rather put one of your coins on the scale, though, and on the
- 17:48other scale I have put one of my dupicate cones. Are not beginning though?
- 17:53And what did you find the coin I gave you as much lighter and
- 17:57must be count of it, you might do not think. Let me look
- 18:00at it through my glass? Oh gee, what is it? It's coin?
- 18:07Unscool? The hollow section inside is a white pounder inside dope. At
- 18:14last we know what were up against. Man, use your telephone, Henric.
- 18:18So we are mixed up with a dope ring Gregory, no doubt about
- 18:21it than that. Now perhaps I can make the magruder nibble a little humble
- 18:23pie, please said Macgrouthor's speaking Maguga. This is the Gregory hood. It
- 18:36is h Where are you volde boss coin shop on market? I've got some
- 18:41news for you mcgrothor, and I've got some for you. We'd mind your
- 18:44car deserted on Turkey Street with a corpse sho the not perhaps to believe the
- 18:48play. It wasn't the corpse you would described. It was a nice prey
- 18:52of corpse by the name of Penelope Penny Dead. Stay away, I'll be
- 18:57right over to wrest you on suspicion of them. You'll hear the rest of
- 19:14tonight's story from the case Book of Gregory Hood in just a second. It's
- 19:18time for me to mention that the only thing necessary to make a good dinner
- 19:22just perfect is to serve that good dinner with a good pet Tree dinner wine,
- 19:27with steak or chops or stew, and in fact, with any meat
- 19:32or a meat dish. You couldn't ask for a better companion than a glass
- 19:36of Petree California Burgundy. Petri Burgundy is a hoty, full bodied red wine.
- 19:42It's the very last word and wonderful flavor. If you're having fish or
- 19:47chicken for dinner, then you'd love Petree California So Turn. Petrie So Turn
- 19:52is a delicately flavored, subtle white wine that your whole family will enjoy.
- 19:57Get a bottle of boat Petrie Burgundy and Petree So Turned. It's bound to
- 20:03be good if it's Petrie. Oh, Sandy, you certainly weren't up to
- 20:08your ears that time. I guess you were able to talk yourself out of
- 20:12it with Magruder, No, Harry. The more eloquent Gregory became, the
- 20:17more suspicious it seemed to make Magruder, and I couldn't do anything to prevent
- 20:21Magruder booking him on suspicion of money. Do you mean to say you were
- 20:25actually locked up? Yes, Harry. I landed in the jug with a
- 20:27resounding splash at just about the time a civilized man is warming his cockles with
- 20:32a good branda, and this scurried off to get a rid of Havieer's caufus.
- 20:36But for nearly an hour I found myself in a cellar joining a certain
- 20:38unhappy character named Joe. Joe, I don't see what made me. I
- 20:47don't put your handle mat Sam, Sam McGhee, you look strict. You
- 20:51want to charlish mom work ime on, have a censure for Sam. The
- 20:56words sliced up my Maal. You kidn't didn't You're talking to Sam as a
- 21:00slicer. I ought to see what I did to Fanning father in nineteen pieces.
- 21:06A surgeon couldn't have done a better job, not as neat as slicing
- 21:10as I did on an Agatha, though I can still see her expression as
- 21:15I cut her head out. Look kind just a small time prat man.
- 21:18They shouldn't want to put me next to you. Hey, of it,
- 21:22Joe, I'm gonna spring. I'm gonna spring both of us. I don't
- 21:25want to go nowhere with you. Hi, down, go, I got
- 21:27a pineapple in my pocket. I'm gonna talk it out there in the island.
- 21:30Blow this coop sky high. Don't do it, taste Johnny, come
- 21:33here, Samda slicers try to let the price set care away from him with
- 21:37us, I shave him. I kind to do right. I guy gotta
- 21:40right to be locked up nice and squire. I don't you your attorney to
- 21:45mister I am sorry to so along, Gregory. Come on, it's a
- 21:48cozy little cell. But I don't want to overstay my welcome or so long
- 21:53ago. You stick your body and mister no, no, he's got the
- 22:00gold down this imagination. Did you get the car back landing? No?
- 22:04Still being held is evidence? I mean, miss, grab a cab as
- 22:07fast as we can. There's a lot of unfinished business ahead of us.
- 22:23Fisherman's Way, Why Fisherman's walk. Stranger just put in a call to a
- 22:29herb Kane of the fantasist. So chronicle, he tells me, there's a
- 22:32film company shooting night location there. How does a film company tie in with
- 22:36our little headache? It's simple, I'm looking for an access. Now,
- 22:38what's playing at Secury there? Drawing room comedy? Yeah, and there's a
- 22:41costume music with the current right stay showed the Golden Gate is advanced fandom singers,
- 22:47no access, So that's out. Therefore a film company, get it,
- 22:51absolutely and unequivocally. No, very well, let's work the case out
- 22:56backwards. No, that would be a great help. Why not sideways?
- 22:59Maybe my recent incarporation that made me a little stir crazy. Tell me how
- 23:03you figured the thing out so far? Fans will obviously tibers. The man
- 23:07we found on the bridge was mixed up with the Dope gang and was probably
- 23:11killed in some internal quarrel. And exhibit number two, the late Penelope.
- 23:17Where did she sit in? I don't think that's a hard one. She
- 23:21was a member of the ring. They stationed her near the entrance to the
- 23:22bridge, knowing that a man of your notorious susceptibilities would be bound to pick
- 23:27her up. And oh yeah, yes, indeed, and then she stole
- 23:30the pause. The hotel clerk was bribed to deny the murdered man's existence,
- 23:36and later they killed the girl who make things favorite or maybe she wanted too
- 23:40much of a cut fan. You're excelling your film elementary, my dear Gregorg,
- 23:45but that I still don't see where an actor enters the picture. But
- 23:49surely you see who the killer is, now, don't you. Well,
- 23:52I've read enough mystery stories to know that it must be the LST the least
- 24:00suspected person. You have that LSP tone in your voice, flingery, but
- 24:06we haven't met any LSPs, unless it's or doctor Arnold. Remember sand that
- 24:11the original bridge episode was never reported, nor was Tavers cot and in Magruder
- 24:17told us that. So the traffic cop to whom we turned over Travis Corvers,
- 24:21a pony and a killer. Probably he was tailing Tavers to make sure
- 24:23he died, which he did, but we got away with the car.
- 24:26So he phoned poor Penelope across the bay to stop us on the approach to
- 24:30the bridge on the way back. Now, who could, at a moment's
- 24:33notice outed himself as a traffic top for shadowing purposes? I get it,
- 24:37Gregory, an access right an actor having a uniform for such a role,
- 24:42M Max Fisherman's wife. Fine, wait here for a driver. Won't be
- 24:45a minute. Come on, well, look at the crowds, Gregory,
- 24:52that's not surprising Hollywood putting on a free outdoor floor show. You can't come
- 24:56any father Sally, who's the director on this picture? Or jets? I'm
- 25:00Bud Denton second assistance. Can I help him? I hope? So do
- 25:03you have an actor in this production who's playing a traffic cup? Funny?
- 25:07You should ask that he's been missing all day? So there's motorcycles and no
- 25:11answer from his hotel either. Do you happen to remember the name of his
- 25:15hotel? Here? Hotel Batman Turksby and his name gun Fred Gunn Bread Gunn.
- 25:22That's obliged to you. I'm on Sanday. You're welcome. Now.
- 25:25It's clear, Sandy, the dying man's words meant not a weapon but a
- 25:29name. What Bread's gun Let's get back into our cab and go back to
- 25:33the hotel. Botm and visited him. When I tell you there's no Fred
- 25:47Gunn ben Leving, and I tell you that he's still living in two o
- 25:49seven, give us a fast key you can't know, but we are sending
- 25:53for them in a few minutes. You might as well keep yourself out of
- 25:57a bad mess. Here, here's a passcake, and don't tie me up
- 26:02in anything. I just did when I was told, And what were you
- 26:03told my friend to say that I was living in two or seven? I
- 26:07didn't see any harm in that. We we don't ask too many questions.
- 26:11Here is Fred Gunn in his room. Now, yeah, it came in
- 26:14an hour ago. It's some drunken bum It couldn't stand up. They were
- 26:17plastered as hoodie all s. All right, might as well walk up.
- 26:22It's only the second floor. I suppose if I were in this game professionally,
- 26:26I'd be carrying a gun, Sandy. I'd feel safer if you were.
- 26:29Gregory looks as if we've got to kill a corner in a rat hole.
- 26:33He might shoot before he asked questions, you know, Sandy. Hmmm,
- 26:37I don't want to be melodramatic. If you've got a wife and two
- 26:40children. Now, I wish you'd go back and wait for me in the
- 26:42lobby. Nice of you, Gregory, but this is hood company business.
- 26:47In any case, I don't want to miss the fun. You're a remarkably
- 26:51square man, Sandy. There are times when I'm quite fond of you.
- 26:56Yeah, here we are two hundred and seven, are not. Our only
- 27:03chance is to rush him. Open the doors in the block. Watch out,
- 27:07family, done done. He's asleep on the bed. Take it easy,
- 27:15Gregory. We can time with the bed clothes. He doesn't need bed
- 27:18clothes, family, He needs a shroud. He's dead. Smell a bottle
- 27:22of whiskey, can spike with cyanide, Great Scott Figery. Look here on
- 27:27the floor, so now familiar corpse of mister Travers. How it does get
- 27:33around. We're in a serious gem now, Gregory, deepen corpses are not
- 27:40a single suspect left. We don't need one. I know who murdered gun
- 27:42and oddly enough he's in the room. Now we are closer than that family.
- 27:48Oh now look, Gregory, if you're going to put the finger on
- 27:52me as the least suspected president is going too far, I won't stand worth
- 27:55no, no family. Mister Travers lying on the floor is the latest killer?
- 28:00Do you mean that the cop system? Sure? Remember the Ampti sianiye
- 28:04vial. Before Travers was killed himself, he'd poisoned guns whiskey gun figured he'd
- 28:10stay sober until he'd retrieved travers cough. He thought it back here, started
- 28:14to figure out how he was going to disport him exactly. He decided to
- 28:17take a slug of whiskey to help his thinking machinery, and so he died,
- 28:21murdered by his own victim. Oh, I see now I have a
- 28:25call made Elmwood six four two two two calling Lieutenant Magruda. Sure this is
- 28:32going to be fun, Magruder and homicidally. After you threw Gregory, I'll
- 28:37call Mary, we'll have one of her delicious rabbits, and you'll stay the
- 28:41night. It's the day, Magruder, this is Gregory Hood. Now settle
- 28:45back in your chair and make yourself comfortable, because I've got a fairy story
- 28:49to tell you. Once upon a time, a couple of worthy citizens were
- 28:53driving across the Bay Bridge when the car in front of them started to weed.
- 28:57He will never believe this, Magruder. But well, Gregory, that
- 29:17was a twelve star very different too, Yes, and I might say it
- 29:19almost mass the end of my beautiful friendship with Margrud. Oh, it's quite
- 29:25a Swiss, Gregory. The murderer being murdered by a victim. And I'd
- 29:27like to point out tomorrow, if you parton my point ahead, the story
- 29:33proved that you get what you give. Unfortunately that works for the best.
- 29:37So quite a philosopher, aren't you just what you mean? Well, we
- 29:41all get what we get. Look, when you drop by my house,
- 29:45what do I get? It a warm welcome and a good dinner, and
- 29:52oh, a glass of Petrie on right. And when I visit you,
- 29:56I get Petrie one right again. And that's because we know that Petrie wine
- 30:00is a good wine. Petrie wine has got to be good wine. Look
- 30:04at the long years of skill and experience that goes into its making. Why
- 30:08the Petrie family has been making wine for generations. Wine making is their heritage,
- 30:15a heritage handed on down from father to son, from father to son.
- 30:19And don't forget ever since the Petrie family first went into business, they've
- 30:22watched over that business person. Yes, the making of Petrie wine is a
- 30:27family affair, and the Petrie family has every intention of keeping it just that.
- 30:33So you know that the name Petrie on a bottle of wine is more
- 30:36than a trademark. It's the personal assurance of the Petrie family. If Petree
- 30:41Wine is and always will be good wine, Well, Gredory to what page
- 30:48of your casebook are you turning next month? Next Monday, Harry, I'm
- 30:51going to tell you an odd story that concerns the San Francisco cable car,

- 32:08of Gregory Hood. This is a mutual podcasting. Welcome back, Well outside
- 32:15of yours truly, Johnny Dollar, I have to say it's probably been a
- 32:19while since we've had a case that that was that cleverly concocted. And to
- 32:25be honest, having listened to a lot of the Green and Boucher Sherlock Holmes,
- 32:32their casebook of Gregory Hood actually seems better. Gail Gordon does a great
- 32:37job, and we'll talk more about him, like I said on Tuesday,
- 32:43but it's very interesting to see him in this role of the swave amateur detective,
- 32:51given that he's best known for parts like Lucille Ball's boss on The Lucy
- 32:58Show. But like I said, more about him next Tuesday, and I
- 33:02hope you enjoyed this series as much as I am. All Right, Well,
- 33:07that will do it for today. Sendra commons to Box thirteen at Great
