• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, June 25th, life.
• 0:12
In your words. Think about the last thing you
• 0:15
said today that you actually meant.
• 0:18
Not a pleasantry, not a quick response to a notification,
• 0:22
something that you said from the heart.
• 0:24
Now think about the weight of that Proverbs chapter 18, verse
• 0:28
21 says death and life are in the power of the tongue, and
• 0:32
those who love it will eat its fruits.
• 0:35
That's not poetic exaggeration. That is a spiritual law.
• 0:39
The words we consistently speak over ourselves, over others, out
• 0:43
of frustration, out of faith, shape the environment we live
• 0:47
in, the relationships we have, and the trajectory of our own
• 0:50
hearts. We live in one of the most word
• 0:53
  saturated moments in human history.
• 0:56
Texts, posts, captions, comments, voice notes, live
• 1:00
  streams. We are constantly producing
• 1:02
words and most of us never stop to ask, what is the cumulative
• 1:06
effect of what I'm putting out? Is it building life or
• 1:10
contributing to death? To discouragement, to
• 1:13
comparison, to cynicism? Isaf, the writer of Psalm 73,
• 1:18
was honest about the battle he faced in his own heart.
• 1:22
He was watching wicked people prosper.
• 1:24
Life seemed unfair. His faith was being tested, not
• 1:28
by a specific crisis, but by the slow erosion of seeing the wrong
• 1:32
people win. And he almost lost his footing.
• 1:36
But then he came back to this anchor in Psalm 73, verse 25.
• 1:40
Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth
• 1:43
that I desire besides you. When everything felt uncertain
• 1:47
and unfair, his focus returned to God, and that refocus changed
• 1:52
everything. Then there's David in first
• 1:55
Samuel chapter 27, verse one. Fear took over.
• 1:59
He said in his heart, I will now perish one day by the hand of
• 2:03
Saul. And that internal declaration of
• 2:06
fear led him to make a risky, complicated decision, seeking
• 2:10
refuge among Israel's enemies, the Philistines.
• 2:13
It wasn't his finest moment. He wasn't acting from faith.
• 2:17
He was acting from panic and the choices he made in that fearful
• 2:21
season had consequences. Notice the pattern.
• 2:25
What we say in our hearts, not just out loud, but internally,
• 2:29
shapes what we do. David's fearful inner dialogue
• 2:32
led to fearful choices. Isafs shift back toward God led
• 2:36
to peace and clarity. This is so real for all of us.
• 2:41
The internal voice matters. The words we speak to ourselves
• 2:44
when no one is listening. The narratives we rehearse, the
• 2:48
fears we declare over our situations, they have power.
• 2:52
When you tell yourself I'm not going to make it, you act like
• 2:56
you're not going to make it. When you tell yourself God is
• 2:59
with me and I can trust his plan, you carry yourself
• 3:02
differently. So here's the challenge today.
• 3:06
Bring your words in line with your faith.
• 3:08
Speak life over the people around you.
• 3:11
Speak truth over yourself. And when fear starts to narrate
• 3:14
your situation, when that internal voice starts saying
• 3:18
there's no way through this, redirect it back to the God who
• 3:21
has never lost a battle. Let's pray.
• 3:25
Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding us of the incredible
• 3:29
power that lives in our words. Help us to be people who speak
• 3:33
life over ourselves, over our friends, over our circumstances.
• 3:37
When fear tries to direct our internal narrative, redirect our
• 3:41
hearts back to you. Teach us to desire You above
• 3:44
everything else so that our words and choices flow from a
• 3:48
place of faith rather than fear or frustration.
• 3:51
In Jesus name, Amen. What if the night was never
• 3:57
meant to be ruled by fear, but covered by the presence and
• 4:00
authority of God? Command Your Night is a

Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
• 4:50
Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 18 verses 20 to
• 4:55
21 World English Bible A man's stomach is filled with the fruit
• 5:00
of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he
• 5:03
is satisfied. Death and life are in the power
• 5:06
of the tongue. Those who love it will eat its
• 5:08
fruit. Psalm Chapter 73 World English
• 5:12
Bible Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in
• 5:16
heart. But As for me, my feet were
• 5:19
almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped.
• 5:22
For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the
• 5:25
prosperity of the wicked. For there are no struggles in
• 5:28
their death, but their strength is firm.
• 5:31
They are free from burdens of men.
• 5:33
Neither are they plagued like other men.
• 5:35
Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck.
• 5:38
Violence covers them like a garment.
• 5:41
Their eyes bulge with fat, their minds past the limits of
• 5:44
conceit. They scoff and speak with
• 5:46
  malice. In arrogance they threaten
• 5:48
oppression. They have set their mouth in the
• 5:51
heavens. Their tongue walks through the
• 5:53
earth. Therefore their people return to
• 5:55
them and they drink up waters of abundance.
• 5:58
They say. How does God know?
• 6:01
Is their knowledge in the Most High?
• 6:03
Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they
• 6:06
increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart
• 6:09
in vain, and washed my hands and innocence for all day long.
• 6:14
I have been plagued and punished every morning.
• 6:17
If I had said, I will speak thus, behold, I would have
• 6:21
betrayed the generation of your children.
• 6:24
When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me, until
• 6:27
I entered God's sanctuary and considered their latter end.
• 6:31
Surely you set them in slippery places.
• 6:35
You throw them down to destruction.
• 6:37
How they are suddenly destroyed. They are completely swept away
• 6:40
with terrors as a dream when one wakes up.
• 6:43
So, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.
• 6:47
For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.
• 6:51
I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before You.
• 6:55
Nevertheless, I am continually with You.
• 6:58
You have held my right hand. You will guide me with Your
• 7:01
counsel and afterward receive me to glory.
• 7:03
Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I
• 7:07
desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fails, but
• 7:11
God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
• 7:15
For behold, those who are far from you shall perish.
• 7:18
You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.
• 7:21
But it is good for me to come close to God.
• 7:24
I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, that I may tell of all
• 7:27
your works. First Samuel chapter 27 World
• 7:32
English Bible David said in his heart, I will now perish one day
• 7:36
by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me
• 7:40
than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines, and
• 7:43
Saul will despair of me to seek me anymore in all the borders of
• 7:47
Israel. So shall I escape out of his
• 7:49
hand. David arose and passed over he
• 7:53
and the 600 men who were with him to a Chish, the son of Malk,
• 7:56
king of Gath. David lived with a Chish at
• 7:59
Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David
• 8:04
with his two wives, Ahenom the Jezreelitis and Abigail the
• 8:07
Carmelitis. Nabel's wife Saul was told that
• 8:11
David had fled to Gath, and he sought no more again for him.
• 8:16
David said to a Chish, If now I have found favor in your eyes,
• 8:20
let them give me a place in one of the cities in the country,
• 8:23
that I may dwell there, For why should your servant dwell in the
• 8:26
royal city with you? Then Achish gave him Ziklag that
• 8:30
day. Therefore Ziklag belongs to the
• 8:32
kings of Judah to this day. The number of the days that
• 8:36
David lived in the country of the Philistines was a full year
• 8:39
and four months. David and his men went up and
• 8:43
raided the Jeshirites, the Gurzites, and the Amalekites,
• 8:47
for those were the inhabitants of the land who were of old on
• 8:50
the way to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.
• 8:54
David struck the land and saved no man or woman alive, and took
• 8:57
away the sheep, the cattle, the donkeys, the camels, and the
• 9:00
clothing. Then he returned and came to a
• 9:03
Chish. A Chish said, Against whom have
• 9:06
you made a raid today? David said, against the South of
• 9:09
Judah, against the South of the Jeremy Lights, and against the
• 9:13
South of the Kenites. David saved neither man nor
• 9:16
woman alive to bring them to Gath, saying, lest they should
• 9:20
tell about us saying. David did this and this has been
• 9:24
his way all the time he has lived in the country of the
• 9:26
  Philistines, Achish believed David, saying.
• 9:30
He has made his people, Israel utterly to abhor him.
• 9:34
Therefore, he will be my servant forever.
