- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flaff to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off a one
- 0:10Speaker 2: tackler catch him side the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 2: five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Matt pumpfake's looking at the
- 0:16Speaker 1: goal line.
- 0:17Speaker 3: He throws it into the m zone.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching
- 0:22Speaker 2: the end zone. A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers,
- 0:26Speaker 2: and the kid out of Washington State has found himself
- 0:29Speaker 2: a place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now, here's your host, Nasa Chobee.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Welcome back to another edition of Hawk Talk, this time
- 0:37Speaker 3: the Seahawks getting ready for an NFC opponent, the Cleveland Browns,
- 0:41Speaker 3: after their big victory at Lumenfield last week, taking down
- 0:44Speaker 3: the Arizona Cardinals twenty to ten. Now, these Browns might
- 0:47Speaker 3: be the most surprising team in the NFL. Come off
- 0:50Speaker 3: two crazy victories. What's on tap?
- 0:55Speaker 1: What's on tap?
- 0:58Speaker 3: Now? Bump I didn't have this on my Bengo car. Okay,
- 1:01Speaker 3: Cleveland Brown's beating the San Francisco forty nine Ers give
- 1:04Speaker 3: them their first l of the season, and then a
- 1:06Speaker 3: crazy thriller against the Colts last weekend right without Deshaun Watson.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I mean, it's we look at this team, me, you
- 1:14Speaker 3: and Moyer. A couple weeks ago before that forty nine
- 1:17Speaker 3: Ers game, we're talking about it or like, hey, we
- 1:19Speaker 3: want to see how San Francisco comes out of this
- 1:21Speaker 3: game because we're kind of a measuring stick because we
- 1:23Speaker 3: knew the Browns had a really good defense. Boy, we
- 1:26Speaker 3: didn't know it was that good because they got some players.
- 1:29Speaker 3: They upset the forty nine ers, they take down the
- 1:31Speaker 3: Colts last week, Like I said, shocking because they held
- 1:34Speaker 3: the forty nine ers seventeen points and they didn't have
- 1:37Speaker 3: Deshaun Watson for essentially the last two games. Man, So
- 1:40Speaker 3: they're surprising team. They're fort and two, tied for second
- 1:43Speaker 3: in the AFC North. But they're a good football team.
- 1:45Speaker 3: And I know when the season started, no one really
- 1:47Speaker 3: circled this game as a must win or gonna be
- 1:50Speaker 3: a tough game at home. But it's definitely gonna be
- 1:52Speaker 3: that way. Bump, Yeah, man, it's gonna be tough.
- 1:54Speaker 4: We're gonna get into the details about why they're gonna
- 1:56Speaker 4: be tough for how they got a good defense. It's
- 1:58Speaker 4: a good deep line, a good secondary. The offense has
- 2:01Speaker 4: been kind of working with PJ.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Walker. I feel like I got to say his name
- 2:04Speaker 3: like an old man down south. PJ. Walker.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Hey, that dude's been getting there and he's got a
- 2:09Speaker 4: great story, right usfl XFL all that FLS.
- 2:11Speaker 3: You can imagine. My dude has played in so he's
- 2:15Speaker 3: gonna play with a chip on the shoulder.
- 2:16Speaker 4: And this team believes they just beat the forty nine ers, right,
- 2:18Speaker 4: why don't they think they wouldn't be able to beat
- 2:21Speaker 4: the Seahawks.
- 2:22Speaker 3: It's gonna be a battle, Yeah, no question about it.
- 2:24Speaker 3: And bump this game though, last week was pretty nuts
- 2:27Speaker 3: between the Browns and the Colts. Yeah, man, it was crazy.
- 2:30Speaker 4: The second straight game that was essentially there was no
- 2:33Speaker 4: Deshaun Watson. They took a hit in the first quarter
- 2:35Speaker 4: and then they looked at his head. They said he
- 2:37Speaker 4: was okay. He passed some cushion protocol, but the Browns
- 2:40Speaker 4: wanted to protect him. If I'm paying you two hundred
- 2:42Speaker 4: and thirty mini dollars guaranteed, nows, I'm gonna protect you too.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yeah you got lit aUI, You're gonna sit down because
- 2:47Speaker 4: we need you for the long run. Brown's head coach
- 2:50Speaker 4: Kevin Stefansi said after the game that Watson is the
- 2:53Speaker 4: starting moving forward and the starting in Seattle. But since
- 2:55Speaker 4: then things have changed. We are not gonna see this
- 2:57Speaker 4: Shaan Watson, like I mentioned, That's why I.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Talked about PJ. Walcome on the field. Guarda Minshew.
- 3:03Speaker 4: He replaced Anthony Richardson, was a starting quarterback and he
- 3:07Speaker 4: did his thing.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Man.
- 3:07Speaker 4: He was fifteen to twenty three, three h five and
- 3:09Speaker 4: two touchdowns, but couldn't get rid of the turnovers.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Man he lost three fumbles, do it interceptions.
- 3:15Speaker 4: He now has seven turnovers in the last two stars gokugs.
- 3:20Speaker 3: That ain't gonna work.
- 3:21Speaker 4: But this game was dominated by the best football player
- 3:25Speaker 4: on the field, Miles Garrett Man. He had two strip, sacks,
- 3:27Speaker 4: nine tackles, one TfL, one pass defended, the two quarterback hits.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Every category that you could you could check outs a
- 3:33Speaker 4: defensive player, he pretty much did that. But despite all that,
- 3:36Speaker 4: the Colts wore ahead thirty eight to thirty three, well
- 3:38Speaker 4: five thirty eight left in the fourth quarter, and that's
- 3:41Speaker 4: when things got really interested. The Browns were driving down
- 3:44Speaker 4: the field for the potential goal ahead score. They got
- 3:46Speaker 4: stopped and some help from two questionable.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Calls Nass two things, yeah, man, The first one legal
- 3:53Speaker 3: contact that a race what would have been the game
- 3:55Speaker 3: ceiling fumble recovery. The game was done right there, okay.
- 3:59Speaker 3: And then the next you get a pass interference call
- 4:01Speaker 3: that gives the Cleveland first and goal from the one
- 4:04Speaker 3: yard line, and it still took him for plays to
- 4:06Speaker 3: get in and Hunt barely cracked that goal line, cap
- 4:09Speaker 3: to twelve play, eighty yard drive, giving the Browns the
- 4:11Speaker 3: lead with fifteen seconds left. They had hold on to
- 4:13Speaker 3: win thirty nine to thirty eight, and for the Browns
- 4:16Speaker 3: man a big win for him. They score thirty nine points,
- 4:19Speaker 3: but not a lot was going for them offensively. PJ
- 4:21Speaker 3: Walka fifteen and thirty two one to seventy eight, zero touchdown,
- 4:26Speaker 3: two interceptions, and was sacked twice. Jerome Ford had eleven
- 4:29Speaker 3: carries for seventy four yards in a touchdown and Elijah
- 4:32Speaker 3: Moore led the Browns in receiving yards with fifty nine
- 4:35Speaker 3: on four receptions. Now, we talked about this all year.
- 4:39Speaker 3: When we look at the head to head, you need
- 4:41Speaker 3: a little bit of context before these numbers start to
- 4:44Speaker 3: make sense. At this point in the year, through six games,
- 4:46Speaker 3: they do make sense. You know, you're almost a third
- 4:48Speaker 3: of the way through the season. Looking at I'll let
- 4:51Speaker 3: you talk about the defense MOUMP, but looking at the
- 4:52Speaker 3: offenses right now for both teams, the Seahawks kind of
- 4:55Speaker 3: holding steady fifteenth in the NFL, averaging three hundred and
- 4:58Speaker 3: thirty yards per game, twentieth, rush offense one hundred and
- 5:01Speaker 3: six yards a game, thirteenth and pass offense two hundred
- 5:04Speaker 3: and twenty four yards a game and tied for eleventh,
- 5:06Speaker 3: scoring twenty for a game. On the flip side of
- 5:09Speaker 3: the Browns their twentieth in offense three to nineteen per game.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Second rushing offense, which is pretty crazy considering the injuries
- 5:16Speaker 3: they've had at running back. We'll talk about that a
- 5:18Speaker 3: little later. Second in the NFL one hundred and forty
- 5:20Speaker 3: seven yards per game. Pass offense not good, almost dead
- 5:24Speaker 3: last thirty first in the NFL, only averaging one hundred
- 5:27Speaker 3: and seventy one yards per game, obviously with all the
- 5:29Speaker 3: quarterback issues they've had. And then points per game, they're
- 5:32Speaker 3: right in the middle of the league averaging twenty two
- 5:34Speaker 3: point three, fifteenth best, so somewhat. I mean, I wouldn't
- 5:39Speaker 3: say even but close. Look at you, look at the
- 5:41Speaker 3: people who will be playing in the game, and you're
- 5:43Speaker 3: gonna say this isn't close. It's vanased Seahawks. But from
- 5:46Speaker 3: a statistical standpoint, the Browns have been able to run
- 5:48Speaker 3: the ball. They have some explosive players will kind of
- 5:51Speaker 3: jump through that. But first look, on paper, I feel
- 5:54Speaker 3: like the Seahaws should have the advantage when it comes
- 5:56Speaker 3: to the offense.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's easy, especially with Deshaun Watson being out
- 6:02Speaker 4: no Nick Chubb, but you still got to respect what
- 6:04Speaker 4: they're doing. Where the advantage might be for the Browns,
- 6:06Speaker 4: whoy I know it is because if you look at
- 6:08Speaker 4: these numbers, they tell you that is defensively, this is
- 6:10Speaker 4: the best defense in all the Lamb when it comes
- 6:13Speaker 4: to total yards only giving up two hundred and forty three.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Talking about the Browns, that makes them number one against
- 6:18Speaker 4: the run. They are number seven against the pass, they
- 6:20Speaker 4: are number one. We'll talk about the stellar second eary
- 6:22Speaker 4: that they have and then points allow their tenth allowing
- 6:26Speaker 4: nineteen per game. You talk about the Seahawks defense, they
- 6:28Speaker 4: will be a top ten defense if they continue on
- 6:31Speaker 4: the trend that they are right now. But so far,
- 6:32Speaker 4: the number twelve in the league allowing three to twenty
- 6:35Speaker 4: two yards, number six against the run, number twenty one
- 6:37Speaker 4: against the pass, and twelfth when it comes to points allowed,
- 6:41Speaker 4: allowing nineteen point seven. Defensively, you look at this battle
- 6:44Speaker 4: and you say, all right, this is the best defense
- 6:46Speaker 4: in all the land. But the Hawks have been playing
- 6:50Speaker 4: like one of the best defense in all the lamb
- 6:51Speaker 4: the last few weeks. So I'm excited to see what happens, man,
- 6:55Speaker 4: And we get to wear them throwbacks, man, I mean
- 6:57Speaker 4: that has to account for three points.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I just throwbacks alone. Those jerseys are so clean. I
- 7:03Speaker 3: know a lot of people made some not responsible financial
- 7:06Speaker 3: decisions once those things came out. I'm definitely one of them.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So no, for sure, throwback unis are gonna look clean.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And it reminds us of the old days when the
- 7:14Speaker 3: Seahawks and Browns used to play a little bit more
- 7:16Speaker 3: back in the AFC West. Let's jump over to know
- 7:18Speaker 3: the history.
- 7:19Speaker 1: No, your history.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Seahawks lead the all time series thirteen to six, and
- 7:25Speaker 3: the Seahawks have won the last two matchups between these
- 7:27Speaker 3: ball clubs last meeting was in twenty to nineteen. Seahawks
- 7:30Speaker 3: rally from a fourteen point deficit on the road to
- 7:33Speaker 3: get a dub and this was back in twenty nineteen.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Early in the year, the team was flying high. They
- 7:38Speaker 3: were five and one three and one on the road.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I was their best road start in thirty one or
- 7:42Speaker 3: thirty nine years. However, didn't start well. The Hawks allowed
- 7:45Speaker 3: touchdowns on three consecutive possessions. They were able to get
- 7:49Speaker 3: back in the game after a David Moore block punt,
- 7:51Speaker 3: shout out demo love that Dude, and back to back
- 7:54Speaker 3: interceptions by Trey Flowers and Tedrick Thompson. Both teams would
- 7:58Speaker 3: go back and forth in second half Untilrussell Wilson led
- 8:00Speaker 3: the Seahawks in a nine play seventy nine yard drive
- 8:02Speaker 3: ending with a Chris Carson touchdown. Missed that Dude as well,
- 8:06Speaker 3: baking the score thirty two to twenty eight. With three
- 8:08Speaker 3: thirty in the fourth quarter. Suming possession, our guy kJ
- 8:11Speaker 3: Wright would pick off Baker Mayfield. Seahawks get two more
- 8:14Speaker 3: first downs to ice that victory out. Chris Carson had
- 8:18Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty four on the ground, one touchdown,
- 8:20Speaker 3: Jeron Brown actually had his best game in Seaawk. He
- 8:22Speaker 3: got in the end zone twice and kJ led the
- 8:25Speaker 3: defense and tackled with eight two TFLs and one pass defended.
- 8:29Speaker 3: What this makes me think of Bump is, to me,
- 8:32Speaker 3: I feel like twenty nineteen was like last year, or
- 8:35Speaker 3: maybe like two years ago, and then there's a pandemic.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Then I start thinking about all those names and I go,
- 8:40Speaker 3: none of them are here. The only people that are
- 8:42Speaker 3: still here from that twenty nineteen squad off the top
- 8:44Speaker 3: of my head is Tyler Lockett, Bobby Wagner, you know
- 8:47Speaker 3: what I'm saying, And you go, oh, and Bobby actually
- 8:50Speaker 3: left before he came back. So it's just like that
- 8:52Speaker 3: team is just completely completely different things. A lot of
- 8:55Speaker 3: things have changed, but fun to go back through history
- 8:58Speaker 3: and hopefully the Seahawks can have a similar performance. But
- 9:01Speaker 3: let's get back to what's going on inside the division.
- 9:03Speaker 3: What's the word and.
- 9:09Speaker 2: The Seahawks or the NFC West champs again.
- 9:12Speaker 3: What's the word in the west On Hawk talk? All right,
- 9:18Speaker 3: let's take a look at the NFC West.
- 9:20Speaker 4: San Francisco forty nine is still up at the top
- 9:22Speaker 4: of this thing with five wins, two losses Seahawks right
- 9:25Speaker 4: behind them they are four and two, the Rams three
- 9:27Speaker 4: and four, and the Arizona Cardinals who we just beat
- 9:30Speaker 4: are one and six. But man, we got some help
- 9:33Speaker 4: from the forty nine ers once again, two weeks in
- 9:35Speaker 4: a row.
- 9:35Speaker 3: They helped us out. Man.
- 9:36Speaker 4: The Niners lost to the Vikings, this time at the
- 9:39Speaker 4: hands of Kirk Cousins.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Getting this Chris kirk Cousin.
- 9:41Speaker 4: We used to talk about Kirk Cousins saying, you know,
- 9:44Speaker 4: he won a primetime type of guy. He was a
- 9:46Speaker 4: before four o'clock type of dude. But he's saying, you
- 9:48Speaker 4: know what, don't worry about all that nonsense. I'm gonna
- 9:51Speaker 4: help you guys out on Monday night football. But it
- 9:53Speaker 4: all started shaky. That first possession. You're like, oh my gosh,
- 9:56Speaker 4: here we go again. Kurt doing what Kirk does. Kirt
- 9:58Speaker 4: was inaccepted by Tavar's looking forward pass intended for Jordan Addison,
- 10:02Speaker 4: who has to really take over now that Justin Jefferson
- 10:05Speaker 4: is out for a while. And it was like in
- 10:08Speaker 4: a little undercut. It was like a physical type of interception.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Man Ward just wanted it more. He got his hands
- 10:13Speaker 4: on the football and then all was good, but Christian
- 10:16Speaker 4: McCaffrey fumbled on it and swing drive and then the
- 10:18Speaker 4: Vikings get the football and then they go up from
- 10:22Speaker 4: a twenty yard touchdown to Jordan Addison that was seven
- 10:24Speaker 4: to zero.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Then Nighters will figure some things out. You know.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Christian McCaffrey, man, he touched that end zone every single game,
- 10:30Speaker 4: every single week. That made sixteen weeks in a row
- 10:33Speaker 4: he has scored a touchdown. He has one off the
- 10:35Speaker 4: NFL record. That made to score ten and seven. Then
- 10:38Speaker 4: probably the biggest play of the game, Kirk Cousins and
- 10:40Speaker 4: Jordan Adison on a sixty yard touchdown. This time Chavar's
- 10:44Speaker 4: Ward got physical with Jordan Addison. Jordan adis and says, now,
- 10:47Speaker 4: I'm a rookie, but I left weights.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I can do this.
- 10:49Speaker 4: He snatches it, war goes to the ground. He takes
- 10:51Speaker 4: that thing to the house. That made the score sixteen
- 10:54Speaker 4: to seven. Then after a couple of field goals and
- 10:56Speaker 4: another touchdown from Christian McCaffrey, Minnesota led twenty two seventeen
- 11:01Speaker 4: in the fourth quarter, and then it was Brock party time.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Is he gonna be able to erase what happened last week?
- 11:08Speaker 4: Put the team on his back and say look I
- 11:10Speaker 4: got y'all. Nah, didn't happen back to back interceptions. He's
- 11:14Speaker 4: the first quarterback to do that since Colin Kaepernick, like
- 11:16Speaker 4: nine eight years ago. Party finished the day twenty one
- 11:19Speaker 4: to thirty for two seventy two to one touchdown and
- 11:21Speaker 4: two interceptions. McCaffrey end of the day with ninety six
- 11:24Speaker 4: total yards in two touchdown. I got George Kettle five
- 11:27Speaker 4: receptions for seventy eight. Fred Warner, who was banged up
- 11:30Speaker 4: for a little bit. I was kind of concerned for him.
- 11:32Speaker 4: He was down, but he got back up. He had
- 11:34Speaker 4: thirteen tackles for one TfL one pass defended. Kirk Cousins
- 11:37Speaker 4: thirty five forty five three seventy eight, two touchdowns, one interception.
- 11:42Speaker 4: And maybe there's a blueprint on how to beat the Niners,
- 11:45Speaker 4: or that they does not look at as explosive because
- 11:48Speaker 4: they didn't have Deebo Samuel. Either way, either way, her
- 11:52Speaker 4: Cousins man might be one of the greatest regular season
- 11:55Speaker 4: quarterbacks of all time.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Man, if any guys watched the QB series on Netflix,
- 12:00Speaker 3: and it's because his wife. He get him in those
- 12:01Speaker 3: shirts postk Man. He's got that that Kirk cousin swag
- 12:04Speaker 3: with him, plaid shirts and everything. No, man, Kirk gets
- 12:07Speaker 3: it going in the regular season. There's all this trade
- 12:08Speaker 3: talk right about him the way they started. Now all
- 12:11Speaker 3: of a sudden they're three and four. They're right back
- 12:12Speaker 3: in this thing. So it'll be interesting to see. They
- 12:14Speaker 3: probably put that stuff to bed. But the Niners bump.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I think there's a chink in the armor. Man, I'm
- 12:19Speaker 3: gonna just say it. Yeah, I don't know. Granted, there's
- 12:22Speaker 3: still really good football team. Those two games on the road.
- 12:24Speaker 3: We'll really learn if something's wrong this weekend when they
- 12:27Speaker 3: play the Cincinnati Bengals at home. Elsewhere in the division,
- 12:30Speaker 3: the Rams taking on the Steelers. Rams suffered a tough
- 12:34Speaker 3: home loss to those Steelers on Sunday, losing twenty four
- 12:37Speaker 3: to seventeen. Games started slow, with just one touchdown in
- 12:40Speaker 3: the first half. That was a thirty one yard strike
- 12:42Speaker 3: to choose you at well from Matthew Stafford. Then there's
- 12:45Speaker 3: some field goals and the Rams led nine to three
- 12:47Speaker 3: at the break. Second half, though, was dominated by the Steelers,
- 12:49Speaker 3: who outscored the Rams twenty one to eight, including back
- 12:52Speaker 3: to back fourth quarter touchdown drives from Kenny Pickett rookie
- 12:56Speaker 3: sensation Pooka Nikola though he had eight catches for one
- 12:59Speaker 3: hundred fifty four yards, but the Rams couldn't find any
- 13:02Speaker 3: consistent offense. Man. Yeah, Pookah's that dude, scoring no points
- 13:07Speaker 3: in their final three drives and managing only twenty yards
- 13:10Speaker 3: while completing no passes. In the fourth quarter, brit Maher
- 13:13Speaker 3: missed two long field goal attempts and an extra point.
- 13:16Speaker 3: They went ahead and released him on Tuesday, and going
- 13:19Speaker 3: back to Puka man fifty eight receptions in seven games.
- 13:23Speaker 3: That's an NFL record and tie Saquon Barkley for record
- 13:27Speaker 3: for catches in a player's first eight games. Before Nakua
- 13:30Speaker 3: even takes the field next week. Seven hundred and fifty
- 13:33Speaker 3: two yards receiving put him behind Jamar Chase for the
- 13:36Speaker 3: most yards ever in receivers first seven games. So didn't
- 13:40Speaker 3: have that on my game board with Pooka Nakula, But
- 13:42Speaker 3: that dude's balling out. Unfortunately not enough for the Rams
- 13:45Speaker 3: Cooper Cup. He was quiet, just had two receptions twenty
- 13:48Speaker 3: nine yards. The Rams are a weird team, man. I
- 13:51Speaker 3: think we've been saying it for the last couple of weeks,
- 13:52Speaker 3: really since they beat Seattle. They do some good things,
- 13:55Speaker 3: but recently just has not been enough to get the
- 13:58Speaker 3: job done. Rams Fall. Seahawks are second in the NFC West,
- 14:02Speaker 3: so hopefully they can get a dub and get back
- 14:04Speaker 3: in the win calumn. But let's put things back to
- 14:07Speaker 3: these Cleveland Browns. I almost forgot who we were playing
- 14:10Speaker 3: there for a second. Bump to the Cleveland Browns.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Let's man up, cool mann, man up on hawk talk.
- 14:24Speaker 4: All right, man, let's look at these matchups. The first
- 14:26Speaker 4: one we're looking at Deshaun Watson not going to be there.
- 14:28Speaker 4: So now we're looking at PJ. Walker against the Seahawks defense.
- 14:33Speaker 4: It's been a weird year for Deshaun Watson, man. You know,
- 14:36Speaker 4: all the stuff he went through last year getting healthy,
- 14:39Speaker 4: this year has just been bad.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Man.
- 14:40Speaker 4: He's only played in ten games for the brown six
- 14:42Speaker 4: and twenty twenty two in four games this season. His
- 14:45Speaker 4: numbers are nothing too crazy, completing fifty nine percent of
- 14:48Speaker 4: his past is seventeen hundred yards, eleven touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
- 14:52Speaker 4: He's also been sacked thirty two times. Goodness gracious now.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Watson started his first three games of the season before
- 14:58Speaker 4: injuring his shoulder falling the Titans game gets the Titans.
- 15:01Speaker 4: He played his best game Cleveland. He was twenty seven
- 15:03Speaker 4: to thirty three. That's eighty one percent completion rape twenty
- 15:06Speaker 4: eighty nine yards and two touchdowns. So you're starting to
- 15:09Speaker 4: feel like, man, you know you might figure something out.
- 15:12Speaker 4: You got a Mari Coople over there. You had a
- 15:14Speaker 4: nice run game, and then you know, Nick Chubb goes
- 15:16Speaker 4: down and then he takes a hit in the first
- 15:19Speaker 4: quarter last week and he was ruled out had a
- 15:22Speaker 4: concussion pass protocol. Sefanski says, look, we're gonna take our
- 15:25Speaker 4: time with him. So that brings in PJ. Walker. The
- 15:28Speaker 4: Browns are two in oh the last two games Walker
- 15:30Speaker 4: has started so far this year, he's only completing fifty
- 15:33Speaker 4: percent of his passes thirty three of sixty six for
- 15:36Speaker 4: three hundred seventy yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions, and sacked
- 15:39Speaker 4: four times. Behind him, you got Dorian Thompson Robinson. I
- 15:43Speaker 4: thought we would see more of him, but I guess not.
- 15:44Speaker 4: They don't feel like the rookie is ready to go yet.
- 15:46Speaker 4: He started one game versus Baltimore. He was nineteen thirty
- 15:49Speaker 4: six one twenty one, zero touchdowns, three interceptions, the game.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Let's be moving fast for my dude, but he hasn't
- 15:56Speaker 3: played great.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Defensively, The Seahawks have been the best in the league
- 16:00Speaker 4: since Week four.
- 16:01Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:02Speaker 4: The Hawks are number one in the NFL in yards
- 16:05Speaker 4: allowed at two hundred and thirty seven yards per game.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Since Week four, the Seahawks have allowed seven hundred and
- 16:12Speaker 4: eleven yards. Closest to them Baltimore Ravens with onenty twenty five,
- 16:16Speaker 4: then Philly with eleven hundred, then Atlanta with eleven thirty
- 16:19Speaker 4: five in New Orleans with eleven thirty six. The seas
- 16:22Speaker 4: have also only allowed three second half points in the
- 16:25Speaker 4: last three games.
- 16:26Speaker 3: That is nuts.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Those three points were scored off a turnover in Cincinnati,
- 16:29Speaker 4: and the defense allows zero yards on that score and drive.
- 16:33Speaker 4: The Hawks are also up to twelve and scoring defense,
- 16:35Speaker 4: allowing nineteen point seven yards per game. Safe to say
- 16:39Speaker 4: the Seahawks has had the best defense they've had in
- 16:43Speaker 4: a few years.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I like what we're receiving.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I almost hate talking about it because I feel like
- 16:46Speaker 4: I'm a jinxit. I'm gonna put this bad vibes in
- 16:48Speaker 4: the air. But you can't deny what you're seeing out
- 16:51Speaker 4: of this defense man. It's been fun to watch they're playing.
- 16:54Speaker 4: It's the physicality.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It's that almost bully football in the sense that we're
- 16:58Speaker 3: seeing guys get hit. Devin Witherspoon him, people, Jamal Adams,
- 17:01Speaker 3: the d Lin's aggressive, Mario Edwards, everyone up front. You know,
- 17:05Speaker 3: Jaren Reed's been a monster everybody. So it's while we're
- 17:09Speaker 3: talking about the defense, I'd be remiss if we didn't
- 17:11Speaker 3: talk about our guy, Shannon nWo suit man Hart goes
- 17:14Speaker 3: out to that dude who really one of the veterans
- 17:18Speaker 3: on this team, who guys lean on, who's been such
- 17:20Speaker 3: a you know, steading force from last year to this year.
- 17:23Speaker 3: He's gonna have to go on ir with a peck injury,
- 17:26Speaker 3: which led to the Seahawks getting ready to sign Frank Clark.
- 17:30Speaker 3: You guys remember Frank Clark, he was a boss for
- 17:33Speaker 3: a long time. Number fifty five. He's gonna have to
- 17:35Speaker 3: get a new number though, because Draymond's fifty five. But
- 17:39Speaker 3: that should be official by tomorrow. But Frank Clark, Pete
- 17:42Speaker 3: Carroll talked about in his press conference today, probably expected
- 17:44Speaker 3: to play this weekend bump, So it'll be interesting to
- 17:46Speaker 3: see interesting, how you know, guys like Darryl Taylor and
- 17:49Speaker 3: those guys step up. But interesting roster. Who's going on.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Happy Frank Clark is back in the Seahawks uniform. Really
- 17:55Speaker 3: bummed about Shenna. But let's go back to the Seahawks offense.
- 17:58Speaker 3: You know, Smith taking on the Browns defense. Gino actually
- 18:01Speaker 3: had a pretty good game last week, Bump. He was
- 18:02Speaker 3: eighteen and twenty four two hundred nineteen yards, completing seventy
- 18:05Speaker 3: five percent of his passes, and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, the
- 18:08Speaker 3: game kind of got marred by those two costly turnovers,
- 18:11Speaker 3: one fumble in the exchange, one interception on a ball
- 18:14Speaker 3: intended for Jake Bobo in the end zone. Now, you
- 18:18Speaker 3: know when you look at the numbers, because a lot
- 18:20Speaker 3: of times, just for the second story week, I've been like,
- 18:22Speaker 3: you know, people are like, man, he's not playing that well,
- 18:24Speaker 3: and everyone wants to blame Gino, and then let me
- 18:26Speaker 3: just look at the numbers between from last year this year.
- 18:29Speaker 3: They're pretty close. You talked about this a little bit
- 18:31Speaker 3: on the postgame show. He's thrown one hundred and eighty
- 18:33Speaker 3: eight passes exactly through six games in both twenty twenty
- 18:36Speaker 3: two and twenty twenty three. He's completed, and he had
- 18:40Speaker 3: fifteen hundred yards last year. This year he's got thirteen
- 18:42Speaker 3: ninety one. He had nine touchdowns in twenty two, he
- 18:45Speaker 3: has seven this year. He had two interceptions last year,
- 18:47Speaker 3: he has four this year. He was sacked nine times
- 18:50Speaker 3: last year, thirteen this year. So while his numbers are
- 18:53Speaker 3: down through six games from last year, they're not, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 3: way off. A couple of things here, a couple throws.
- 18:59Speaker 3: He'd like that he could have a couple of help
- 19:01Speaker 3: on some of those interceptions, whether it be the old
- 19:03Speaker 3: line block in the front or some receiver help. I mean,
- 19:06Speaker 3: you look at it, he's still eighth and completing percentage
- 19:08Speaker 3: this year at sixty eight point six, he's eighteenth and
- 19:11Speaker 3: yard so it's a little bit down fourteenth and yards
- 19:13Speaker 3: per game. QB rating is eleven and QBR is ten.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So he's doing his things still, and I think he
- 19:20Speaker 3: is playing better than people are thinking. But he's gonna
- 19:22Speaker 3: have to be really sharp this weekend because Bump, you
- 19:24Speaker 3: talked about it. The Browns offensive rankings are off the charts.
- 19:27Speaker 3: One in total defense, winning gets to pass, seventh against
- 19:30Speaker 3: the run, ten and tenth in points allowed. So Gino
- 19:33Speaker 3: in this offense is not going to be able to
- 19:35Speaker 3: have those mistakes they had last week if they want
- 19:37Speaker 3: to walk out with a victory for sure, especially because
- 19:39Speaker 3: Bump there's a pretty good dude on their D line
- 19:42Speaker 3: that they got to play against.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Yeah, Man, he might be the best offensivelignment in the
- 19:45Speaker 4: game right now, honestly. And we talk about the boss,
- 19:48Speaker 4: we talk about what we talk about Donald, You got
- 19:52Speaker 4: to throw him right there in the makes. Man, we'll
- 19:53Speaker 4: talking about Miles Garrett. He is third in NFL with
- 19:57Speaker 4: seven and a half sacks. Last week, Like I mentioned,
- 19:59Speaker 4: Man nine tackles, two sacks, two for US from one
- 20:01Speaker 4: passive fit him in a blocked field goal.
- 20:03Speaker 3: He even contributes on special teams.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Guys, he's been He's been crushing the game since his
- 20:08Speaker 4: rookie year. He's entering the league in twenty seventeen. He
- 20:12Speaker 4: has eighty two sacks in ninety career games. Those eighty
- 20:15Speaker 4: two sacks or third most par player in his first
- 20:17Speaker 4: ninety career games in NFL history, only behind Reggie White,
- 20:21Speaker 4: JJ Watt Hall of Famers. So he's averaging the second
- 20:24Speaker 4: game throughout his career, which is pretty impressive. He has
- 20:27Speaker 4: the second most games with more than one sack in
- 20:29Speaker 4: the NFL since twenty seventeen, that is twenty three. Garrett
- 20:33Speaker 4: has recorded sixteen sacks in each of the last two seasons.
- 20:36Speaker 4: He was an All Pro in twenty twenty and twenty
- 20:38Speaker 4: twenty one, as well as a four time pro bowler.
- 20:40Speaker 4: The Accolades discy racking up, racking up, and racking up,
- 20:43Speaker 4: and the Seahawks, we know this line is banged up,
- 20:45Speaker 4: so they're gonna get tested. My question is how are
- 20:47Speaker 4: you gonna help these tackles out? And I think that
- 20:49Speaker 4: Shane Waldron's done a good job of attaching these tight ends,
- 20:52Speaker 4: a line of scrimmers to help these dudes out, and
- 20:54Speaker 4: the Hawks have only allowed thirteen sacks, which is seventh
- 20:57Speaker 4: best in the NFL. Let's try to just try to
- 21:00Speaker 4: keep track, keep pace. But it's gonna be tough. This
- 21:03Speaker 4: dude's gonna make plays. You don't go into a game
- 21:06Speaker 4: and say we're gonna we're gonna shut down Miles Garrett. No,
- 21:09Speaker 4: you try to limit the damage set he contributes. So
- 21:12Speaker 4: it's gonna be a tough task. Help these tackles out, man,
- 21:14Speaker 4: Let's see what they do.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Yeah, bump and you would know this more than I
- 21:18Speaker 3: would as an offensive coordinator and former high school coach
- 21:20Speaker 3: and playing offense as much you can when they're a
- 21:22Speaker 3: dude like that, Bump, we just got to run the
- 21:23Speaker 3: ball at him, right, because if you run away fromhim,
- 21:26Speaker 3: he's gonna chase every single thing down backside. So you're
- 21:28Speaker 3: better off just saying, hey, we're gonna try to run
- 21:30Speaker 3: at this guy and see what can happen. But yeah, man,
- 21:34Speaker 3: I think Mark Schlaer said with Lineman and Bob yesterday
- 21:36Speaker 3: and a couple other dudes like he's just not human.
- 21:38Speaker 3: He's just a different dude. To your point, he's gonna
- 21:41Speaker 3: he's gonna make plays, but you still got a rebound
- 21:42Speaker 3: and figure out what to do after that. Flipping back
- 21:45Speaker 3: on offense, let's look at, you know, the Seahawks receivers
- 21:48Speaker 3: versus the brown secondary Seahawks stiving corps. This kind of
- 21:52Speaker 3: shocked me, Bump, looking through it has only had one
- 21:54Speaker 3: hundred yard receiving game this season, and that was Dk
- 21:57Speaker 3: with six receptions one hundred and twelve yards. Versus Carolina
- 22:01Speaker 3: and the Browns. On the flip side, they've only allowed
- 22:03Speaker 3: two hundred yard games this season. So the Seahawks receiving Corps, Lockett, DK, JSN.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Now you had Jake Bobo, all these dudes, they had
- 22:12Speaker 3: all the hype coming in, rightfully so because they are
- 22:14Speaker 3: that good. But I still feel like they're right there.
- 22:17Speaker 3: We still haven't seen the big games from DK and
- 22:20Speaker 3: Tyler in the same game. JSN and Jake Boba are
- 22:23Speaker 3: starting to kind of to kind of, you know, show
- 22:26Speaker 3: what they can do as well. So obviously there's been
- 22:28Speaker 3: some questions upfront given how many injuries they've had that way,
- 22:31Speaker 3: but I'm waiting to see when this unit kind of
- 22:33Speaker 3: takes off. DK he's practicing today, so hopefully he'll be
- 22:38Speaker 3: back on the field on Sunday. He has twenty two
- 22:40Speaker 3: receptions three hundred and thirty seven yards two touchdowns on
- 22:42Speaker 3: the year, missed his first game in his career after
- 22:44Speaker 3: starting his first seventy one regular season games. Tyler Lockett,
- 22:49Speaker 3: He's got twenty seven receptions, two eighty nine two touchdowns,
- 22:52Speaker 3: his forty seven touchdowns and twenty eighteen rnks, seventh in
- 22:54Speaker 3: the NFL. Only player in the league with at least
- 22:56Speaker 3: eight receiving touchdowns each of the last five seasons. JSM,
- 23:01Speaker 3: coming off his best game of the year sixty three
- 23:03Speaker 3: yards in a touchdown. Same with Jake Bobo sixty one
- 23:05Speaker 3: yards in a touchdown. So it's it's gonna be good, man,
- 23:09Speaker 3: But it's gonna be good matchup, bump, because these dbs
- 23:13Speaker 3: are pretty good for Cleveland. What have you seen from
- 23:15Speaker 3: those guys?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 23:17Speaker 3: Man, these dvs are some ballers. Man.
- 23:21Speaker 4: You start with Denzel Board as a two time pro
- 23:24Speaker 4: bowler so far this year, eighteen tackles, went, interception, six
- 23:27Speaker 4: passes defended, a forced fumble, and ATFL he got his
- 23:31Speaker 4: first interception last week versus Indy. No surprise there, gardner
- 23:35Speaker 4: Man's shoot, Goku's baby. I still support you though, all right?
- 23:37Speaker 4: And then Greg knew some the second he's another quarterman.
- 23:41Speaker 4: In six games he played this year, he started all
- 23:43Speaker 4: of him forty two tackles, six passes defended in twenty
- 23:45Speaker 4: twenty two, first round pick by the Browns in twenty
- 23:48Speaker 4: twenty one out of Northwestern. In twenty twenty three, he's
- 23:51Speaker 4: had nineteen tackles, two passes defended in one TfL.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Then Grant Dell pitt am I.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Saying that name, right, del Pitt, I think so delpit
- 24:00Speaker 4: It's gonna roll with it, all right.
- 24:01Speaker 3: He's there short safety over there. He leads the team
- 24:04Speaker 3: with thirty seven tackles.
- 24:05Speaker 4: He had one of decepsion, one forced fumble against Pittsburgh
- 24:08Speaker 4: in Week two, the second round pick in twenty twenty
- 24:10Speaker 4: and in twenty twenty three, thirty seven tackles, one pick,
- 24:13Speaker 4: two passes, defendive, two TFLs in, one quarterback hit and
- 24:16Speaker 4: then one thorn hill Man.
- 24:18Speaker 3: He's the free safety. He started the past six games.
- 24:21Speaker 4: He joined the Browns in twenty twenty three after starting
- 24:23Speaker 4: fifty two or sixty five games with Kansas City. Had
- 24:26Speaker 4: seventy one tackles and three interceptions in twenty twenty two.
- 24:29Speaker 4: This year, twenty five tackle tackles, seventeen solo, the seventh
- 24:33Speaker 4: ranked passing defense in the league, the first and you
- 24:38Speaker 4: for oh, the first, I'm sorry, the first ranked pass
- 24:40Speaker 4: defense in the league. And you got Miles gared down
- 24:42Speaker 4: on the defensive line, calls and havoc. No wonder why
- 24:45Speaker 4: these guys are on the back end eaton. So I
- 24:47Speaker 4: think secondary wise, this is gonna be the biggest tests
- 24:49Speaker 4: these guys have had since Cincinnati. Cincinnati had six interceptions
- 24:52Speaker 4: at the time when we played him, and they looked
- 24:55Speaker 4: like a sticky defense.
- 24:56Speaker 3: So you're playing probably the.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Best defen defender you've played all year in Miles Garrett,
- 25:02Speaker 4: and then the back end is solid as well.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah, man, this is where this is kind of a
- 25:07Speaker 3: get your popcorn ready kind of match up. Hopefully the
- 25:09Speaker 3: Seahawks and hold up up front so we can see
- 25:11Speaker 3: DK hopefully playing Lockett, JSM Bobo making those and hopefully
- 25:16Speaker 3: winning some of those one on one battles down the field.
- 25:18Speaker 3: And then let's flip it to the running game Kareem
- 25:21Speaker 3: Hunt versus at Seahawks front. Seven. Browns came into this
- 25:23Speaker 3: game with the league's second best rushing attack, which I
- 25:26Speaker 3: told you at the beginning was shocking to me not
- 25:28Speaker 3: looking at the numbers, because they're averaging one hundred and
- 25:30Speaker 3: forty seven yards per game and they've been out without
- 25:33Speaker 3: Nick Chubb since Week two. Chubb was coming off really
- 25:37Speaker 3: good production, four consecutive Pro Bowls, four consecutive of one
- 25:41Speaker 3: thousand yard seasons, could have been five. He missed it
- 25:43Speaker 3: by four yards his rookie year, and then in the
- 25:46Speaker 3: meantime picking up something that slack was Jerome Ford. On
- 25:48Speaker 3: the season, Jerome had seventy eight carris with three hundred
- 25:51Speaker 3: and forty four yards and two touchdowns. He's now hurt.
- 25:54Speaker 3: He's gonna miss this game or maybe one next two
- 25:56Speaker 3: games with an ankle injury. So Kareem Hunt essentially is
- 25:59Speaker 3: a starter now now he's returned. He returned to the
- 26:01Speaker 3: Browns after a Chubb got hurt. In four games, Hunt
- 26:04Speaker 3: has one hundred and three yards on thirty two carries
- 26:06Speaker 3: in three touchdowns. But now he's the lead guy, so
- 26:09Speaker 3: obviously he's gonna get more opportunities. We'll see if he
- 26:12Speaker 3: can kind of find that old magic because he's an
- 26:15Speaker 3: older player. We'll see what happens now. But the Seahawks,
- 26:18Speaker 3: you said it, they're balling defensively. They shut down the run.
- 26:21Speaker 3: They're six in the NFL allowing eighty seven rush sharts
- 26:23Speaker 3: per game. They're third in the NFL. And it comes
- 26:25Speaker 3: to the yards per carry, no one player has ran
- 26:28Speaker 3: for more than sixty seven yards against his team all
- 26:30Speaker 3: year long. I noted earlier that we're not going to
- 26:33Speaker 3: see Chennan and Wosu, who's going on ir with a
- 26:35Speaker 3: peck injury. I mentioned Frank Clark coming in see how
- 26:38Speaker 3: he can help the Seahawks defense. Obviously, Darryl Taylor boy
- 26:42Speaker 3: Mafe taking a little bit bigger role. But I don't
- 26:44Speaker 3: expect them to miss a beat just because they have
- 26:47Speaker 3: enough guys in there that can who have shown that
- 26:49Speaker 3: they're ready to committed to stop in the run. So
- 26:51Speaker 3: it should be fun. Bump, it should be fun. It's
- 26:53Speaker 3: gonna be a crazy game at Loomin Field. But let's
- 26:55Speaker 3: figure out how we're going to get that done. Pat
- 26:57Speaker 3: the victory after forty five waits for the snaff. Michael
- 27:03Speaker 3: Dixon puts it down. That kick is away. If that kick.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Is good, good, say off when it's good.
- 27:10Speaker 1: It's a path to victory on Hawk Talk.
- 27:16Speaker 3: All right, how are they gonna get it done? Starts
- 27:18Speaker 3: with the defense.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Going into the season, I felt the offense was gonna
- 27:21Speaker 4: have to leave the charge with the defense has been
- 27:23Speaker 4: doing their thing. The Browns are thirty first in the
- 27:25Speaker 4: league when it comes to the pass and mid to
- 27:28Speaker 4: mass at QB all year. Man, we've seen Deshaun Watson
- 27:31Speaker 4: dtr now PJ. Walker was gonna go for his third win.
- 27:34Speaker 4: He ain't gonna get it two to one after this week, PG,
- 27:37Speaker 4: I love you, though. You gotta create turnovers. Man, It's
- 27:39Speaker 4: gonna be hard to score against the Browns defense. We
- 27:42Speaker 4: have been praising them. That's what you do. You praise
- 27:44Speaker 4: the opponents and then you smack them on a Sunday.
- 27:47Speaker 3: So that's what we've been doing.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Miles Garrett can deny who he is over there, and
- 27:50Speaker 4: that secondary has been good to go in Gino, take
- 27:54Speaker 4: care of the rock. Opportunities in the red zone, Finish, finish,
- 28:00Speaker 4: Let's get it.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, man, you said it. Opportunities in the red zone.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Do not turn the ball over because you're gonna need
- 28:05Speaker 3: all the opportunities you can get. You're gonna need to
- 28:07Speaker 3: take every possession. The one thing I'm happy about, Bump
- 28:10Speaker 3: is the Browns did give up thirty eight points to
- 28:12Speaker 3: a colts team, and if Gardner Minshew takes one of
- 28:14Speaker 3: those tumbles back, maybe they'll win that game. So there's
- 28:16Speaker 3: obviously a chick in the armor somewhere. Let's score in
- 28:19Speaker 3: the red zone and let's make Lumenfield what it should be.
- 28:22Speaker 3: This is a home field advantage. The Seahawks have won
- 28:24Speaker 3: the last two games there and that's exactly how it
- 28:26Speaker 3: should be. So let's get roued. Let's have the twelves
- 28:28Speaker 3: be rocking. It should be fun. They need to go
- 28:30Speaker 3: one to er this week and keep pace with those
- 28:33Speaker 3: forty nine ers because I'm telling you they need to
- 28:35Speaker 3: stack wins before that stretch late in the season. So reminder, guys,
- 28:39Speaker 3: you can catch us everywhere Seahawks dot Com, Apple podcast,
- 28:41Speaker 3: Spotify series XM, and more. Also, if you're listening on
- 28:44Speaker 3: Apple podcasts, don't forget your rate us. We appreciate the
- 28:46Speaker 3: five star rating. This has been Hawk Talk getting you
- 28:50Speaker 3: ready for the Seahawks taking on the Browns Throwback Week
- 28:53Speaker 3: at Lumenfield on Sunday. He's Michael Bumba some NASA Shoby.
- 28:56Speaker 3: We'll be with you next week on Monday, hopefully talking
- 28:59Speaker 3: about a Seahawks victory, stand anything,
