- 1:07Speaker 3: they all wear a whistle.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's stupid, but what did you expect?
- 1:12Speaker 2: It's a podcast called 25 Whistles.
- 1:15Speaker 4: 25 Whistles.
- 1:16Speaker 1: All right, blow it. Hey, how about them cowboys? Hey,
- 1:21Speaker 1: where's the hat?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Do you have it? Oh, boy.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Put it on. Get it.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 1:25Speaker 1: We're back, baby.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Look at this guy. Look at this guy.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We're back, baby. Are you back?
- 1:34Speaker 3: We're back.
- 1:35Speaker 1: It got a little closer, though, than it needed to.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Towards the end there, it got a little closer.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Without a quarterback, too.
- 1:39Speaker 3: You know what, though? Man, I think if Jaden hadn't
- 1:44Speaker 3: gotten hurt, that could have been a problem. Because he
- 1:47Speaker 3: was killing us with his legs.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, no crap. That was my point. Like, they still
- 1:50Speaker 1: almost blew it with him.
- 1:51Speaker 3: No, I know. And then we still almost blew it
- 1:52Speaker 3: with Mariota. Like, I understand. The defense is still a problem. But, dude,
- 1:55Speaker 3: a win is a win, and we will take it.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I got mine.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I got mine.
- 2:02Speaker 4: I got mine.
- 2:02Speaker 3: We're back.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So you, like, Super Bowl?
- 2:05Speaker 3: Dude, it was so relaxing, man. Super Bowl?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Super Bowl?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Say it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think this is our year.
- 2:11Speaker 1: We're back. Super Bowl, baby.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Like, those odds must have gotten crazy, huh, on the
- 2:16Speaker 3: Super Bowl predictions? Like we're probably what, number two now?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Oh, I haven't looked. I made my future and then
- 2:22Speaker 1: just stopped looking. I mean, I can look now if
- 2:25Speaker 1: you want. Will you pull up the odds, Kevin?
- 2:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm pulling them up.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I bet you we're two or three.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Of course.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I bet you you're not. I bet you're not. So yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 1: it's exciting for you.
- 2:36Speaker 3: That was awesome, man.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You got to get a new hat though. You wear
- 2:37Speaker 1: that same hat every day.
- 2:38Speaker 3: What do you mean? This is my hat. I have
- 2:42Speaker 3: multiple hats. Don't worry. I have about 10 Dallas Cowboy hats,
- 2:46Speaker 3: but this one, It's my lucky hat.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So the craziest thing over the weekend was not the
- 2:52Speaker 1: Cowboys winning. I expected them to. They needed to.
- 2:55Speaker 3: They were a favorite.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It was that Vanderbilt game. I've never seen anything like
- 2:58Speaker 1: that before. That was wild. And I didn't see it
- 3:01Speaker 1: live because I was in Vegas. My father-in-law texted me
- 3:03Speaker 1: and said, did you just see the end of the
- 3:04Speaker 1: Vanderbilt game? I said, no, they lost. He said, look again.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So I looked at the clip. And then I saw
- 3:09Speaker 1: the stat that it was maybe 1,046 and 1. where
- 3:16Speaker 1: teams winning and had the ball with 20 seconds or
- 3:17Speaker 1: less under.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That quarterback has got to feel like– I feel bad
- 3:24Speaker 1: for him.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Can you explain what he was thinking?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Trying to run the clock out and then fall down.
- 3:29Speaker 3: How about take the safety?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Okay, but then you've got to kick the ball back.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I understand.
- 3:33Speaker 1: No, no. All he had to do was sit up
- 3:35Speaker 1: and then not fumble it.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Right, just hold on to the ball.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah. They could have taken the safety, but then they
- 3:39Speaker 1: kicked the ball and gave them a chance to score.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I just think that there were multiple options in that scenario,
- 3:44Speaker 3: and he chose the wrong one.
- 3:46Speaker 1: He didn't choose it.
- 3:46Speaker 6: That's why it was the option. Yeah, might have been
- 3:48Speaker 6: his coaches.
- 3:49Speaker 1: He didn't see it coming from behind whenever the guy
- 3:51Speaker 1: hit him. But get down.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Usually you're taught to run around in the back and
- 3:55Speaker 6: then you step out of the back. He didn't do that.
- 3:58Speaker 6: I'm sure they didn't draw it up like that in practice.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, he could have taken the safety like that. Sometimes, though,
- 4:03Speaker 1: in this situation, they will just run out of the
- 4:04Speaker 1: back of the end zone and kick the ball back.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But they don't want to give Vanderbilt the ball back.
- 4:08Speaker 1: But yeah, anything.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Anything.
- 4:10Speaker 2: That was bizarre.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I've never seen that before.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Was Vanderbilt, the word I had for Vanderbilt, was that lucky?
- 4:15Speaker 3: I know I picked somebody.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It was extremely lucky, yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Yeah, no, and I'm saying when we did our words
- 4:18Speaker 3: for certain teams.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh, I don't remember.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Last week, I think mine was lucky for Vanderbilt.
- 4:22Speaker 6: I don't even know if we talked about Vandy, did we?
- 4:23Speaker 1: No, I don't think we did.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Oh, Vanderbilt. Okay, well, I said lucky for someone, but man.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Are you creating, you saying things right? I was like, guys,
- 4:30Speaker 1: I'm so smart. Yeah, so that was a pretty crazy game.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 4:34Speaker 6: That was nuts.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I was in Vegas, so I got to watch all
- 4:36Speaker 1: the games earlier than you guys, which is fine.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Or.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Well, yeah, earlier to you, but later.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I got to watch them earlier. You had to wait
- 4:43Speaker 1: until like 11 a.m. I was watching them at 9.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I was on a two-hour advantage. Do you like it
- 4:48Speaker 1: better early? Yeah, I like it better early. Like West
- 4:50Speaker 1: Coast has it lucky because they don't have to wait.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's like every game is in Europe. When the NFL
- 4:56Speaker 1: was playing in London, you wake up and they're playing
- 4:58Speaker 1: at 7 a.m. That's just the West Coast all the time.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Did you bet? Not one time.
- 5:02Speaker 3: What?
- 5:03Speaker 1: I didn't bet anything on anything. I didn't win a
- 5:06Speaker 1: bet the last week, and I don't feel the need
- 5:08Speaker 1: to have to bet. And I had so much going
- 5:10Speaker 1: on that I don't need to bet and then check back.
- 5:14Speaker 1: If I'm betting, it's for fun because I'm watching a
- 5:16Speaker 1: game and it's making it a little more fun.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Good point.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So I don't need to bet for the sake of
- 5:20Speaker 1: having a bet going.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I get that. Well, I mean, I understand where you're
- 5:24Speaker 3: coming from.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 3: It's not where I come from, but yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I didn't gamble at all. Wow. I didn't gamble in Vegas.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I didn't bet one thing.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Craps, roulette.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Nothing.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Really?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Didn't go to a table, didn't do a slot. Why?
- 5:33Speaker 3: I was busy. And then you're talking about this poker
- 5:36Speaker 3: tournament that you might play in.
- 5:37Speaker 1: In November.
- 5:37Speaker 3: You've got to. Prepare.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Do you think I had time to go down and
- 5:40Speaker 1: play poker?
- 5:41Speaker 3: You make time.
- 5:42Speaker 1: No, also, when I had a little bit of time,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I was reading the Lane Kiffin book, which we talked
- 5:46Speaker 1: to him coming up. I finished the whole thing.
- 5:49Speaker 6: That's crazy. You go to Vegas and you read a book. Like, honestly,
- 5:51Speaker 6: good for you.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Seriously, good for you, man. Oh, no, no, no.
- 5:54Speaker 3: You were by the pool, though, right?
- 5:55Speaker 1: No, no, no. I did not leave my room. I
- 5:58Speaker 1: did not. When I wasn't working, I was in my room.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I never turned the television on except for the Arkansas
- 6:04Speaker 1: game on Saturday just a little bit, but I just read.
- 6:08Speaker 6: And worked.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Watched the Arkansas disaster.
- 6:10Speaker 3: How long of that game did you watch?
- 6:12Speaker 1: All of it.
- 6:13Speaker 3: All of it?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but I muted the third quarter in red while
- 6:16Speaker 1: it was on.
- 6:17Speaker 3: You just muted it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Because I owe it to myself to have to suffer
- 6:25Speaker 1: or to get to feel the rewards of it. But
- 6:28Speaker 1: I spent so much of my life invested in Arkansas
- 6:31Speaker 1: football and Arkansas basketball. Then when it finally comes on,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm going to watch the whole thing.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Did you see the catch? That was a good one-handed catch.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, nice one-handed catch.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That was the thing.
- 6:38Speaker 3: That was the thing.
- 6:39Speaker 1: That was it.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Dude, you're right, though. I didn't think that– because you
- 6:42Speaker 3: said that no one was going to go to that game.
- 6:44Speaker 3: No one went to that game.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It ended up being a little better, you know, five
- 6:49Speaker 1: minutes in. But, yeah, why would you?
- 6:53Speaker 3: No, it looked like I was watching Sam Houston State
- 6:55Speaker 3: for sure, like where all those empty seats. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 6:59Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 6:59Speaker 1: We're not talking about the Cowboys.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Leave it on for the whole show. You don't know
- 7:03Speaker 3: how many of these days we're going to get.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I don't like how it rubs my forehead.
- 7:07Speaker 6: Oh, really?
- 7:07Speaker 1: It hurts. No, I just don't like how it rubs
- 7:09Speaker 1: my forehead.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Is that made of leather?
- 7:11Speaker 1: We'll come back to it.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Okay, and then you'll put it back on?
- 7:13Speaker 1: I'll put it back on.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Deal.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Wait, I got the odds if we want to.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 7:16Speaker 6: When we do come back.
- 7:17Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Get back on.
- 7:19Speaker 6: Okay, Eddie, what did you say?
- 7:20Speaker 5: Talk.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Two, three.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I would say two or three.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I would keep going down.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Five.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Keep going.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I would bet it's like 12. Keep going.
- 7:29Speaker 3: More?
- 7:29Speaker 4: More?
- 7:29Speaker 3: 14.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Go down. 15?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Oh, they're right in the mid, huh?
- 7:35Speaker 3: You know what? Now's the time.
- 7:36Speaker 6: 2,500 plus 2,500.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Then now's the time to jump on it.
- 7:40Speaker 1: They didn't really prove anything, though.
- 7:42Speaker 3: They really didn't.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Because the commanders aren't good anyway, and then they lost
- 7:46Speaker 1: their quarterback. Hey, a couple things since I didn't see
- 7:48Speaker 1: an update. Has there been an update on either Caleb Williams'
- 7:50Speaker 1: hamstring or Jaden's elbow?
- 7:53Speaker 6: As of now, just Caleb is week to week.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 7:56Speaker 1: That is an amazing case scenario.
- 7:58Speaker 3: They did see him walking out with his family, and
- 8:01Speaker 3: he was putting.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Pressure on that.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I saw him after that.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Like limping, but he's walking.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Said it's going to be week to week for him.
- 8:07Speaker 6: They avoided something major. So he's probably going to be
- 8:10Speaker 6: out this week.
- 8:10Speaker 1: When he went down, it looked like a swipe got
- 8:12Speaker 1: him at first. That was a very wet game. So
- 8:14Speaker 1: it looked like a swipe got him. And then once
- 8:15Speaker 1: they showed a swipe didn't get him and he went
- 8:17Speaker 1: down no contact, then you think Achilles. Then you go
- 8:20Speaker 1: absolute worst. And then when I heard hamstring, I thought, oh, okay. Well,
- 8:24Speaker 1: that sucks. He's going to miss, I don't know, a month. But, wow,
- 8:28Speaker 1: week to week, that is great news if you're a
- 8:31Speaker 1: Bears fan.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 1: CeeDee looked good.
- 8:35Speaker 3: CeeDee looked great. The offense looks good. I mean, the
- 8:37Speaker 3: offense looked good even last week. They dropped a couple
- 8:41Speaker 3: of easy catches, but I mean, they looked good. I
- 8:43Speaker 3: was never worried about them. The defense looked like they
- 8:46Speaker 3: made a little bit of improvement, especially on the pass.
- 8:49Speaker 3: The pass coverages and all that, but Dude, if we
- 8:52Speaker 3: can't stop the run, it's going to be a long season.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, but like the Bears, they can't stop anybody. They're
- 8:58Speaker 1: just scoring a lot of points.
- 8:59Speaker 3: That's true. That works sometimes.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a terrible rain game, though.
- 9:04Speaker 6: It was a hard game to watch.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so I didn't watch a lot of it. I
- 9:07Speaker 1: did watch because it was getting down to it when
- 9:10Speaker 1: he got hurt. Was it third quarter?
- 9:11Speaker 6: Yeah, late.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Yeah, towards the end.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 3: What was your situation? What time did you get back?
- 9:17Speaker 1: Well, so my, it was an 8 a.m.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Flight.
- 9:20Speaker 1: What's fun about in Vegas, you can watch the NFL
- 9:22Speaker 1: games earlier, two hours and you guys. So I got
- 9:24Speaker 1: to see them two hours earlier.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Here we go. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And so it was an 8 a.m. flight. And so
- 9:29Speaker 1: that'd be 10 a.m. for us. And so my feeling was,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm going to, I'm on a, I'm reading something else.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I was going to read for the first hour, then
- 9:39Speaker 1: do tech talk for an hour.
- 9:40Speaker 3: There you go.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And then I would be two hours into a four
- 9:43Speaker 1: hour flight and spend the last two watching games. Problem
- 9:46Speaker 1: was the, Southwest Wi-Fi was going in and out. It
- 9:49Speaker 1: was so spotty. I know. It's the worst. It was
- 9:53Speaker 1: so bad that, first of all, they do the free TV.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And I went to that only secondarily because I, at first,
- 9:59Speaker 1: was trying to... to connect on my stupid phone and
- 10:02Speaker 1: it would not. It'd go and it'd crap out. You
- 10:04Speaker 1: know how you look at and it just disappears sometimes
- 10:06Speaker 1: up in the right corner and it shows you the
- 10:08Speaker 1: Wi-Fi and it just disappears and you're like, oh, dang.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So that was happening and my YouTube TV kept dying out.
- 10:14Speaker 1: It'd go for like 30 seconds, freeze and go out.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So I thought, we must be over Kansas. Kansas. where
- 10:19Speaker 1: maybe there's not a lot of activity. I was just
- 10:21Speaker 1: making up scenarios as to why my wifi wouldn't work.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And so then I thought, well, let me just open
- 10:25Speaker 1: my laptop and I'll connect for free and watch it
- 10:28Speaker 1: on CBS. And then it was the jets and Titans.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And that was.
- 10:33Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 10:33Speaker 1: That was last week.
- 10:34Speaker 3: It was Eagles and Titans.
- 10:36Speaker 6: Same colors, different colors. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So I'm watching that and it keeps crapping out. Even
- 10:41Speaker 1: the free TV that Southwest offers on a game. I
- 10:45Speaker 1: cared nothing about. So it was bad. And, So I
- 10:49Speaker 1: just had to watch the little one. They kicked the
- 10:51Speaker 1: little field goal over the cartoon. And then it says
- 10:54Speaker 1: 12-yard gain. I had to do that for a while.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And I was watching a little bit of fantasy scores.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And then once I got home, I got to watch
- 11:02Speaker 1: basically the second halves of all that first round of games.
- 11:06Speaker 1: But glad the Cowboys won because we had some money
- 11:09Speaker 1: on that one.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Tampa Bay lost to the Stupid Browns. Yes.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:15Speaker 1: How did the Browns even win?
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and we have them as losers in our skin,
- 11:18Speaker 3: so we needed that.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but just the Browns shouldn't win, period.
- 11:21Speaker 3: No, they really shouldn't. Dude, it's getting bad in my house, too.
- 11:24Speaker 3: The whole family's yelling, kill him.
- 11:26Speaker 1: At Sean Watson?
- 11:27Speaker 3: I finally told them what he did.
- 11:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 3: And now they're like, kill him! Kick him in the shins!
- 11:32Speaker 3: It's a thing.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Hey, he didn't play terrible.
- 11:34Speaker 3: No, he really didn't. But it's a bit now in
- 11:37Speaker 3: my house. They just now love yelling, kill him when
- 11:40Speaker 3: he has the ball.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Oh, boy.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Hey, how are you doing with that Josh Allen football
- 11:44Speaker 1: I gave you?
- 11:44Speaker 3: Okay. It's funny you ask. So I've had it in
- 11:48Speaker 3: my closet just wondering what to do with it. I've
- 11:50Speaker 3: been like, man, the problem with that kind of stuff
- 11:53Speaker 3: is like two of my boys, they stay in one room.
- 11:56Speaker 3: They share a room, right? So they kind of always
- 11:58Speaker 3: get first dibs on like, hey, I got a jersey.
- 12:00Speaker 3: You guys can hang it up in your room. The
- 12:02Speaker 3: little one gets jealous because he's not in their room.
- 12:03Speaker 3: He's like, what do I get? So I was just
- 12:07Speaker 3: kind of wondering, what am I going to do? Bobby
- 12:08Speaker 3: gave me a signed Josh Allen football. Freaking awesome. It's
- 12:11Speaker 3: got the Bills emblem on it and everything. I'm like,
- 12:14Speaker 3: what am I going to do with this thing? And
- 12:16Speaker 3: finally it hit me. We have our family fantasy league.
- 12:19Speaker 3: And every year they're just like, what do we win, Dad?
- 12:21Speaker 3: And I'm like, it's just for fun, guys. Bragging rights.
- 12:23Speaker 3: And I said, you know what? This year I'm going
- 12:25Speaker 3: to make it way cooler. And I busted out the ball.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And they're like, guys, this is our prize for the
- 12:30Speaker 3: fantasy league. And they're just like, what? That's so cool. But, dude,
- 12:34Speaker 3: it's crazy now. Now they're hacking each other's phones and
- 12:40Speaker 3: trying to mess their lineups before the freaking game. No way.
- 12:44Speaker 3: It's getting dirty because they want that football so bad.
- 12:48Speaker 3: And then my wife is like, I don't want the football.
- 12:50Speaker 3: What do I get?
- 12:51Speaker 1: So how many people are in the league? It's all
- 12:53Speaker 1: six of us.
- 12:54Speaker 3: It's my whole family.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And you have pretty stacked teams then.
- 12:57Speaker 6: Yeah. That's fun.
- 12:58Speaker 3: And dude, we even have stacked people on the bench.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 3: We have great athletes on the bench right now. That's fun.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Okay, good luck to everybody.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Yeah, dude.
- 13:06Speaker 1: That's a cool prize, though, but what if your wife
- 13:08Speaker 1: does win?
- 13:09Speaker 3: She gets like a Starbucks gift card or something. Like,
- 13:11Speaker 3: you know, we'll make it fun for her, too. She
- 13:13Speaker 3: really doesn't care about the ball.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Everybody do their teams, their own team's game.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Kevin?
- 13:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it was ugly. It was hard to watch, especially
- 13:21Speaker 6: the first half. I think it was 10-3 at halftime.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Patriots who?
- 13:24Speaker 6: Patriots, Steelers. Patriots won 20-3. Steelers' offense is really bad.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Our defense looked really good, but the Steelers' offense, oh,
- 13:31Speaker 6: that's brutal. DK Metcalf couldn't catch anything.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Well, also, they had your boy on them. He's shutting
- 13:37Speaker 1: them down.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Yeah, Christian Gonzalez.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah. They paid him much money, signed a deal, then
- 13:40Speaker 1: just put him on DK, and DK can do anything.
- 13:42Speaker 6: He's so good. And then our D-line got after it.
- 13:44Speaker 6: Linebackers got after it. Our offense still looks super shaky.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Drake May still, like, he just doesn't look confident right now,
- 13:51Speaker 6: but I'm trying to be optimistic and be like, okay,
- 13:53Speaker 6: it's just early. Got to get the confidence back. We
- 13:56Speaker 6: don't have A.J. Brown, so we just got to get
- 13:58Speaker 6: through the next, what, month or so without him, and
- 14:00Speaker 6: then I think we'll be all right.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Then Henderson came back.
- 14:02Speaker 6: Oh, he looked awesome. He's so fast.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Stevenson fumbled again.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 1: They were giving Drake May some real interception shame. They
- 14:11Speaker 1: were like, three interceptions in the Super Bowl. Three interceptions
- 14:14Speaker 1: in week one. It was right after the interception yesterday.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Yeah, real bad.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And now we've already got another one. We've got seven
- 14:19Speaker 1: interceptions in three games.
- 14:21Speaker 6: Yeah, and he didn't throw a touchdown yesterday. He just,
- 14:25Speaker 6: I don't know. Everything's short for him right now. It's
- 14:26Speaker 6: like he has PTSD still from the Super Bowl or
- 14:30Speaker 6: Seahawks hitting him. And he just is back there. But
- 14:32Speaker 6: they're not rolling him out. That's what I want to
- 14:34Speaker 6: see them do, like get him outside the pocket a
- 14:36Speaker 6: little bit, kind of like they do with Josh Allen,
- 14:38Speaker 6: or even run him a little bit would be fun.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Talk to Vrabel.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Have you let your coaches know your opinion? Yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 6: Well, I'll send them this.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Your educated opinion?
- 14:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll send them.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Ask for a meeting or something.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, send them this link. Well, Robert. Put the little
- 14:49Speaker 1: paper airplane on Instagram and send it over to Vrabel.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Share it? Yeah, share it over.
- 14:52Speaker 6: You think he'll read it?
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:53Speaker 6: I got you. Okay, thanks, Brandon.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Thanks, dude. You got to win, though.
- 14:57Speaker 6: WWE. Yeah. No, I'm happy with it. I'll take it
- 14:59Speaker 6: all day, one-on-one.
- 15:00Speaker 3: It's all good.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Did you see the press conference with Aaron Rodgers after?
- 15:03Speaker 2: No.
- 15:04Speaker 1: So basically he was saying, hey, this game's on me.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I got to let the coaches know when they suck
- 15:09Speaker 1: at play calling. It's basically what he was saying. Oh, boy.
- 15:13Speaker 1: He didn't say it exactly like that, but it did
- 15:15Speaker 1: it his way. He goes, I got to let them
- 15:17Speaker 1: know when Mike calls a play and it ain't good.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It's up to me to let them know that ain't
- 15:19Speaker 1: a good play.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Wow.
- 15:21Speaker 6: That sounds like him.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It sounds exactly like him. It was such a funny
- 15:26Speaker 1: way for him to not– Take the blame. Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 6: It's weird to see McCarthy on the sideline over there.
- 15:31Speaker 3: It is weird.
- 15:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know. I'm like, it just doesn't fit.
- 15:35Speaker 6: There's something about it. It doesn't fit.
- 15:37Speaker 1: How about the Raiders? Oh.
- 15:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 3: The Raiders.
- 15:41Speaker 1: They're 2-0. Kirk Cousins looks pretty good.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 6: He still, like, lofts it. His arm is just like, whoop.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I said pretty good.
- 15:52Speaker 6: I know, I know.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Like, the power's not there.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Yeah, like, it just, like, floats to his receivers.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But they're catching it.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I know.
- 15:57Speaker 6: And they don't even have Brock Bowers.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I know.
- 15:58Speaker 4: They don't.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Like, they're pretty good.
- 16:00Speaker 6: Jenty looks good.
- 16:02Speaker 1: That double pass they tried to throw was a garb.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Arkansas tried that crap, too. That was a whole different.
- 16:07Speaker 1: That was bad.
- 16:08Speaker 3: That was terrible.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Mike, Texas. Texas won, but they look sloppy.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Arch did not look good.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Like, a C- performance from him.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Who did they play, Mike? UTSA. 36.
- 16:17Speaker 6: We should have crushed them, though.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But they're coming after, like, a real high. Like, that
- 16:23Speaker 1: Ohio State game. Were they just overly confident? They're probably tired.
- 16:29Speaker 3: And they could chill on this game.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And they were just so hyped from winning that one.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Who does Ole Miss play next week? See who they're playing.
- 16:38Speaker 1: If it's a halfway decent.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Game, they're going to struggle.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'd probably not bet on Ole Miss.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Playing Florida.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I'd bet on Florida. I'm curious to know what the
- 16:47Speaker 1: line is. Florida's pretty good. Florida's Kirk Cousins. Florida's pretty good.
- 16:53Speaker 6: They left it in there.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I watched some of the Florida-Auburn game. Pretty good. Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 6: Florida looks good.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 1: They're pretty good. They're cousins. Yeah. Hey, Mike. So, Texas,
- 17:04Speaker 1: they did win. The Oklahoma barely beat New Mexico. Like,
- 17:09Speaker 1: I scored almost like 14-7 or something. If you look
- 17:13Speaker 1: at that game.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Florida's a favorite, by the way. Hosting Ole Miss. Three
- 17:17Speaker 6: and a half.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Three and a half?
- 17:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Wow.
- 17:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it was 14-6.
- 17:21Speaker 1: The New Mexico-Oklahoma game?
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Crazy.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 17:25Speaker 1: So Texas and Oklahoma. Texas didn't struggle, but they won
- 17:29Speaker 1: their game. And after a high, that's cool. Who do
- 17:33Speaker 1: you guys got next, Mike?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Tennessee.
- 17:34Speaker 6: That's fun.
- 17:36Speaker 1: You guys should win that, but that's fun. The football

- 18:41Speaker 1: Eddie, your team?
- 18:42Speaker 3: Dallas Cowboys, man.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And we talked about it. It was great, except I'd
- 18:46Speaker 3: like to see the defense do a little better, stop
- 18:49Speaker 3: the run a little better. We have the Ravens coming
- 18:54Speaker 3: up next in Rio de Janeiro. That's going to be tough, man,
- 18:56Speaker 3: because Derrick Henry is like... Born again.
- 19:01Speaker 1: You say that, though. The irritating thing about the Ravens
- 19:03Speaker 1: yesterday is I think Derrick Henry had 11 carries in
- 19:05Speaker 1: the first half and like four or five in the second.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Where did he go? They just didn't go back to him.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I'm going to paper airplane this to mentor the coach.
- 19:13Speaker 6: Do it.
- 19:13Speaker 1: You've got to give Derrick Henry the ball. Why are
- 19:16Speaker 1: we not giving him the ball?
- 19:17Speaker 3: Especially when he's coming off a game like that. You've
- 19:19Speaker 3: got to give him the ball.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I can't believe they lost that game.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Right. That one hurt, too.
- 19:23Speaker 6: Did you see the Kiwi sneak from Shuck? To win
- 19:27Speaker 6: the game at the very end.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Well, they kept stopping them too. They kept stopping them.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And I thought, we had money on Baltimore. So I
- 19:35Speaker 1: was rooting for them selfishly there. But I like Shuck.
- 19:39Speaker 1: And I think the Saints are interesting because they've actually,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but they did this to us before where we thought
- 19:44Speaker 1: the Saints were going to be awesome.
- 19:46Speaker 6: It was a couple years ago the car was like
- 19:48Speaker 6: yeah yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 1: So i'm not gonna fall for it yet but shuck's
- 19:51Speaker 1: a real quarterback yeah he looks good shuck's a real
- 19:54Speaker 1: quarterback um so cowboys yeah so cowboys but i don't
- 19:57Speaker 1: know if they can get better at defense.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Well we're missing now we're missing a our linebacker so
- 20:03Speaker 3: i mean it's just i don't know we're dealing with
- 20:05Speaker 3: a couple of injuries but I just felt like that
- 20:07Speaker 3: defensive line with Kenny Clark and Quinn Williams would be
- 20:11Speaker 3: so freaking good and just wreak havoc at the line,
- 20:14Speaker 3: and it's just not happening right now.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Arkansas won. We beat Georgia. It was awesome. What?
- 20:19Speaker 3: I don't know if.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You guys saw the real ending.
- 20:21Speaker 3: We're happy for you.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You guys probably saw the woke ending where we lost. No, no, no.
- 20:26Speaker 6: I saw something on Instagram. I was like, I'm going
- 20:30Speaker 6: to send this to Bobby. He was like sad. And
- 20:32Speaker 6: I'm like, I can't even do it.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm numb to it.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Anything, it does not matter. I'm numb to it. I
- 20:38Speaker 1: don't like that they're wearing the paper bags on their
- 20:40Speaker 1: heads for a coach. Look, do I know that he's
- 20:44Speaker 1: the guy? No. Do I know he's not the guy?
- 20:46Speaker 6: No.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I think it's way too early to be sad in
- 20:50Speaker 1: the stands considering it's a brand new coach.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It sucks.
- 20:54Speaker 1: And I get why you don't go. It costs a
- 20:55Speaker 1: lot of money to get tickets, for gas to get
- 20:58Speaker 1: up there. For the day.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Parking.
- 21:00Speaker 1: And if it's going to go and you're going to
- 21:02Speaker 1: watch a team get their heads blown up, you don't
- 21:04Speaker 1: want to do that. I can understand you not going
- 21:06Speaker 1: to the game. I don't like the paper bags, though.
- 21:09Speaker 1: And the only reason they're doing that is because they
- 21:10Speaker 1: started making clips on social media going, boycott, wear bags.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Nobody boycotted. People just didn't go because they didn't want
- 21:18Speaker 1: to waste a day watching us get crushed. Yeah. But
- 21:21Speaker 1: we won, though.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you did.
- 21:22Speaker 1: That's good.
- 21:24Speaker 6: Big underdogs.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I'll say this. When halftime hit, we weren't humiliated.
- 21:28Speaker 3: No.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Because I was worried this game was going to start.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I was like, ABC, are you kidding me? They're going
- 21:32Speaker 1: to put us on ABC on the 11 o'clock noon game.
- 21:37Speaker 1: For me, it was 9. I was watching it two hours.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Before you guys.
- 21:40Speaker 6: You saw it before us.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I was going to text you guys, don't worry about
- 21:44Speaker 1: watching it. Because in two hours when this comes on,
- 21:47Speaker 1: it's going to be terrible. We weren't humiliated by halftime. So, yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 1: it felt pretty good. We're in a bad place. It's
- 21:55Speaker 1: the lowest that I've ever been.
- 21:57Speaker 6: I legit feel sorry for, like, not just you, but, like,
- 21:59Speaker 6: your whole fan base.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It's all we have.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And not only that, the other bottom-dwelling teams are all winning. Kentucky, winner.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Mississippi State, winner. Vanderbilt wins the freaking fumble. We had
- 22:12Speaker 1: a good season. Like, we're the only bad team right now,
- 22:15Speaker 1: and it sucks. We like to have friends down here
- 22:18Speaker 1: in the basement. So, whatever. I don't know what we're
- 22:22Speaker 1: going to do. I feel stupid, though, giving them money
- 22:25Speaker 1: when they weren't raising money from anybody else. It's like
- 22:27Speaker 1: they put the graphic up and it's only my money.
- 22:29Speaker 1: They're like, this is how much money Arkansas has in NIL.
- 22:33Speaker 1: You're like, wait a minute, that's what I get.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And it lists every team from Texas all the way down.
- 22:39Speaker 1: And then when it gets down on that graphic, it's
- 22:41Speaker 1: Arkansas at the very bottom. And the amount they do
- 22:43Speaker 1: is just the money that I've given them.
- 22:44Speaker 3: It has like down to the cent.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel had.
- 22:48Speaker 6: Hey, but you got an x-ray room.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The bones.
- 22:51Speaker 1: So stupid.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Sorry, man.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Misery. Sorry. The Texas Tech-Houston game, I watched that a
- 22:58Speaker 1: bit on my phone. That was a good one. That
- 23:00Speaker 1: was even the night before, right?
- 23:01Speaker 3: Friday, yeah. Houston's pretty good. Yeah, Houston's pretty good. That
- 23:05Speaker 3: quarterback's really good.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Houston scored less than a minute left, right? The
- 23:08Speaker 1: Texas Tech ended up winning the thing.
- 23:10Speaker 6: Yeah, they went for two and didn't get it.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Right at it, too, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 3: That's right.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Man, these games feel like they were 10 years ago.
- 23:18Speaker 1: That Vegas trip, when I do that crap, and then
- 23:21Speaker 1: I can't get internet. That's a nightmare. You know, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: was watching that game on the casino TV as I
- 23:25Speaker 1: was walking through. Now they have them up. Over the tables? Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Like the end of it, I was walking through, and
- 23:31Speaker 1: I just stayed and kind of watched one on the top.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Georgia beat Arkansas 45-17. Hey, here's the thing. Rutgers played
- 23:39Speaker 1: with USC.
- 23:40Speaker 6: That was a surprise.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Yep.
- 23:42Speaker 6: Big surprise.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Especially after they got whooped by UMass, who hadn't won
- 23:45Speaker 1: a game since, what, 69? Yeah. Since Joe Namath.
- 23:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 1: So USC beat Rutgers 42-35. Rutgers stay within one score.
- 23:54Speaker 1: That interception return, was that 99 yards, that pick six?
- 23:58Speaker 6: I didn't see it for Rutgers?
- 24:00Speaker 1: No, USC.
- 24:01Speaker 6: Oh, I didn't even see that.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so I don't care about USC, but I did
- 24:06Speaker 1: learn a lot about them in the Lane Kiffin book.
- 24:08Speaker 3: We talk a lot about that?
- 24:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because, well, Lane was there a bunch of times,
- 24:13Speaker 1: a couple times. That book's really good. We'll talk to
- 24:16Speaker 1: John Talti coming up in a bit. Alabama beat Florida State,
- 24:19Speaker 1: but Florida State jumped up quick to where I thought, ooh,
- 24:21Speaker 1: does Alabama suck?
- 24:23Speaker 6: Right.
- 24:23Speaker 3: And then we had to wait for like two hours
- 24:25Speaker 3: for that game to finish.
- 24:26Speaker 1: It was almost like the freaking Tampa game yesterday.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Yes, I know.
- 24:29Speaker 6: The Todd Bowl.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was two minutes left. Two minutes. And
- 24:33Speaker 1: we had to wait like two hours for the last
- 24:35Speaker 1: two minutes. Louisville beat SMU. Kentucky went to College Station
- 24:40Speaker 1: to beat Texas A & M. I know.
- 24:43Speaker 6: They blew them out in the second half. I watched
- 24:45Speaker 6: that and was like, what the heck is going on?
- 24:48Speaker 1: Did you guys watch the Ole Miss-LSU game?
- 24:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 6: The whole thing.
- 24:51Speaker 3: That was great.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I watched the whole second half and a bit of
- 24:54Speaker 1: the first. I watched a bit of the first. Ole
- 24:56Speaker 1: Miss was running away with it, and I was pretty
- 24:58Speaker 1: excited about that. And then I get down into the
- 25:01Speaker 1: bowels of the arena thinking there would be no internet,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and it had perfect internet. And so I watched the
- 25:09Speaker 1: for-sure LSU comeback.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Didn't you guys all think LSU was going to come
- 25:12Speaker 1: back and win the game? Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Me and my money.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Who'd you bet on?
- 25:16Speaker 6: LSU.
- 25:16Speaker 4: LSU.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I kept pounding on that live money line. Keep pounding
- 25:21Speaker 3: on it. So bad. But great game, though.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You were Carolina Panthering them?
- 25:25Speaker 3: Dude, I was.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Keep pounding? I was.
- 25:29Speaker 3: And it didn't work out. But it's still a fun game.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a fun game. I was as shocked
- 25:35Speaker 1: as everyone, including the announcers, when they went for two.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Ole Miss did. When they scored that touchdown to go
- 25:39Speaker 1: ahead and they went for two. And then LSU kept
- 25:42Speaker 1: jumping off sides. They just kept moving the ball like
- 25:44Speaker 1: six inches, six inches.
- 25:45Speaker 6: It's pretty wild how good Chambliss is. There are some
- 25:50Speaker 6: good quarterbacks, and Chambliss is on a different level.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I didn't realize he's older, huh?
- 25:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he's 30.
- 25:56Speaker 3: No, no, he's not that old, but he's like.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Is he 24?
- 25:58Speaker 6: No, he's older, yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Like 27, maybe.
- 26:00Speaker 1: 25?
- 26:01Speaker 3: You thinking of Chris Winkie? How old was he?
- 26:06Speaker 1: Maybe 28 or 29.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Okay, no, I think.
- 26:09Speaker 6: He is 24, yeah.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Okay, 24. That's what I said.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But yes, he's a little older. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now,
- 26:14Speaker 1: his deal was he had like tonsillitis or something that
- 26:16Speaker 1: kept him out of a whole year.
- 26:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And that's what they ended up suing to get him
- 26:20Speaker 1: that year of eligibility back.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But he wasn't even supposed to be the starter last year.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Austin Simmons was.
- 26:26Speaker 6: Yep.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Who like enrolled at Ole Miss when he was 16.
- 26:31Speaker 6: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Wow. And so, but then he got hurt because.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Chambliss?
- 26:38Speaker 1: Chambliss came from a Division II school.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 26:42Speaker 1: It was a backup.
- 26:44Speaker 3: It's kind of cool, actually. My bad for making fun
- 26:47Speaker 3: of you. You did for being older. 24. Yeah, 24.
- 26:51Speaker 1: How old was Chris Wienke? I'm going to guess 28
- 26:54Speaker 1: whenever he played for Florida State. Because I think, man,
- 26:57Speaker 1: if he didn't win the Heisman, he was close. Because
- 26:59Speaker 1: he played baseball. And then he went to Florida State.
- 27:04Speaker 6: When he ate when he won the Heisman. Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Dude, that's crazy. We have a receiver at Arkansas in
- 27:11Speaker 1: his 30s who played baseball.
- 27:13Speaker 3: The same guy? Uh-huh. Because I remember he played last year, too. Okay.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he's getting Social Security and he's playing for Arkansas.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Notre Dame beat Michigan State 27-10. So there's your footsball
- 27:28Speaker 1: as far as college goes. NFL-wise, I mean, the Bills
- 27:32Speaker 1: are awesome. So good. That was a casino game for me, too.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That was on while I was there. And it was
- 27:38Speaker 1: the first three drives Buffalo scored. I think the Lions punt-punt,
- 27:43Speaker 1: maybe touchdown the third. Going from memory here. It was
- 27:45Speaker 1: never really a game, even though it started to look
- 27:47Speaker 1: like a game at the end. But Detroit had no secondary. Like,
- 27:51Speaker 1: their defense was completely wiped out, and Josh Allen was
- 27:55Speaker 1: just putting it on them.
- 27:56Speaker 6: And that was a new, I don't know how much
- 27:58Speaker 6: you're able to watch it, but the new stadium.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:00Speaker 6: For the Bills. To me, it looked like a European
- 28:02Speaker 6: soccer stadium.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Really?
- 28:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Yeah, it was pretty sweet.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I didn't get to see a lot of it. Was
- 28:06Speaker 1: that on Amazon?
- 28:07Speaker 3: It is on Amazon on Thursdays. Yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Eagles beat the Titans. Titans should have won the game.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy. They started off strong.
- 28:16Speaker 1: The Titans tightened.
- 28:16Speaker 3: They tightened down.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Titans always going to tighten.
- 28:20Speaker 6: Tighten down.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Patriots beat the Steelers.
- 28:22Speaker 5: The good one.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Vikings beat the Bears. Vikings won again.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Carson Wentz MVP. I'm saying it now.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Carson Wentz.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Carson Wentz MVP. Hey, are the Panthers good?
- 28:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Or are the Falcons that bad?
- 28:35Speaker 3: Both, maybe. I mean, they pulled Cooper Rush.
- 28:38Speaker 4: I know.
- 28:38Speaker 1: And then Jack Slack could eat no fat, whatever his
- 28:41Speaker 1: name is, went in. And he throws a pick like
- 28:43Speaker 1: his first.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It was bad. He's from a Division II school, too,
- 28:46Speaker 1: I think.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Who is that? Is that Strand?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah. His name's Jack Strand, right? Jack Strand, yeah. Yes.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Jimmy Crackcorn?
- 28:54Speaker 6: Yeah, Jack Strand.
- 28:54Speaker 3: That's tough over there.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I believe he's from a Division II school. or at
- 28:58Speaker 1: least a one double a, I get them confused. Now
- 28:59Speaker 1: I have CS and division state.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Who is it?
- 29:02Speaker 3: Minnesota state.
- 29:02Speaker 1: That's yeah. It's for, uh, Dauber coach, coach and Dauber.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Are they division two?
- 29:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:12Speaker 1: So he's, I was rooting for him and immediate pick
- 29:18Speaker 1: bad news.
- 29:19Speaker 6: Bryce Young look good.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Bryce Young did look good.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:22Speaker 1: So go Panthers. Keep pounding. Um, Packers beat the Jets.
- 29:25Speaker 1: The Jets blew that.
- 29:26Speaker 6: Idiots.
- 29:26Speaker 3: I know.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Idiots.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But are the Jets better than we think they are? Yes.
- 29:30Speaker 6: Right?
- 29:31Speaker 1: All that can be true.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 1: The Saints beat the Ravens, and I think the Saints
- 29:36Speaker 1: are better than we thought they were. Yes.
- 29:37Speaker 6: Bengals beat the Texans.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Are the Texans better than we think they are? bad
- 29:40Speaker 1: at defense? Now, they had to play against two really
- 29:42Speaker 1: good offenses. They had to play Buffalo, and they had
- 29:44Speaker 1: to play the Bengals. They're supposed to be the best defense.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Dude, that Jamar catch was crazy.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that was insane. Did you see him do the
- 29:50Speaker 1: big penis celebration?
- 29:51Speaker 5: Yes. He did.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I don't know that people knew what that was.
- 29:54Speaker 6: I didn't know when he did it live, but after
- 29:56Speaker 6: I got on the internet, I found out.
- 29:58Speaker 1: After he scored, he did it like his arm.
- 29:59Speaker 6: He went.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't see that part. I didn't see that
- 30:03Speaker 1: at all. That was like letting it hang out. Wow.
- 30:06Speaker 1: You think he'll get penalized?
- 30:09Speaker 3: Funny.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Browns beat the Bucs. Who cares?
- 30:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that was stupid.
- 30:14Speaker 1: The Chiefs and the Colts game was too close. Yes,
- 30:17Speaker 1: it was so close. Just won the game, Chiefs. Mahomes
- 30:20Speaker 1: threw for 382 and some touchdowns. And I think the
- 30:24Speaker 1: Colts had the right idea because they were just... They
- 30:28Speaker 1: didn't want to give Mahomes the ball back. But they
- 30:32Speaker 1: scored way too early, obviously.
- 30:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Maybe they had the wrong idea.
- 30:37Speaker 6: You think they were actually going to go for it
- 30:38Speaker 6: at the end there, too? He said... The head coach said, oh,
- 30:41Speaker 6: we were going to go for it.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Oh, and then he changed his mind?
- 30:43Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Because they were looking for a blitz. Isn't that what
- 30:46Speaker 1: it was?
- 30:47Speaker 6: He said based on their defensive look.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Yeah, if they came up and they were showing blitz,
- 30:50Speaker 1: they were going to go for it, but he called timeout.
- 30:52Speaker 3: That's when he's like, it's not there.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It's too late. I barely remember that, but yeah.
- 30:55Speaker 3: That was so late.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I hung over.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Kelsey looked pretty good, though.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Like, he moved pretty well for that old guy.
- 31:05Speaker 5: Did he?
- 31:05Speaker 1: He moved pretty good?
- 31:06Speaker 3: He moved well.
- 31:06Speaker 1: All right. You guys want to do... Let's see. Let's

- 31:25Speaker 1: It's like Eddie when he comes on. He says, didn't
- 31:27Speaker 1: I say Vanderbilt lucky?
- 31:28Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure I said that. Maybe not.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I predicted every game right, just like you said
- 31:32Speaker 1: Vanderbilt lucky. Also, Vanderbilt started that freshman quarterback, right?
- 31:36Speaker 6: Yeah.

- 33:10Speaker 1: All right, joining us again is John Talti from CBS
- 33:17Speaker 1: Sports to mostly talk games. But John, I read the
- 33:20Speaker 1: whole book. I read your book.
- 33:21Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Oh, thank you.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Yeah, read the whole thing. Wow, that was fast. Yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 1: I read it in three days. I could not put
- 33:26Speaker 1: it down. And I would just say I read it
- 33:30Speaker 1: and then I would not say it was good. It
- 33:31Speaker 1: was really amazing. So good that I texted a couple
- 33:33Speaker 1: of my friends and I was like, you gotta read
- 33:35Speaker 1: the new Talti book. Like, you're my best friend. I
- 33:37Speaker 1: was like, the new Talti book is great. I have
- 33:39Speaker 1: questions though about the book. Okay, so if you haven't
- 33:42Speaker 1: heard us the last couple of weeks, he has a
- 33:43Speaker 1: book called Lane Being Lane. I highly recommend it because man,
- 33:49Speaker 1: I was like, Thanksgiving. Just, I knew I should stop
- 33:52Speaker 1: And I was working over the weekend in Vegas. I
- 33:54Speaker 1: knew I needed to go work, but I couldn't put
- 33:55Speaker 1: it down. Here are my questions from the book about
- 33:57Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin. Number one, I did not know that his
- 34:01Speaker 1: entire first half of his career, if not more, was
- 34:03Speaker 1: completely nepotism based. Like no idea. Do you think he
- 34:08Speaker 1: would have made it eventually because he's so smart or
- 34:11Speaker 1: because his dad was money and everybody felt like they
- 34:14Speaker 1: loved and owed money. So they gave him all these opportunities. Like,
- 34:17Speaker 1: would he have made it anyway?
- 34:18Speaker 4: It's a great question. It's something that I thought a
- 34:20Speaker 4: lot about as well. Because like you, Bobby, before I
- 34:23Speaker 4: started this book, I knew that Monty had helped him out.
- 34:26Speaker 4: But I didn't realize, as you said, everything that happens, college,
- 34:31Speaker 4: first jobs, they're all Monty relationships. All Monty basically kind
- 34:36Speaker 4: of putting his thumb on the scale to get Lane
- 34:38Speaker 4: the job. So there's no question that his career skyrockets
- 34:42Speaker 4: because of Monty's influence. All the things that I think
- 34:45Speaker 4: are core parts of who Lane Kiffin is in terms
- 34:49Speaker 4: of how we understand him, like the Raiders, the Tennessee stuff,
- 34:52Speaker 4: like that never happens. If Monty's not getting him this
- 34:55Speaker 4: incredible fast start, the stuff he got so early, so young,
- 34:59Speaker 4: never could have happened. Could he have gotten there eventually?
- 35:02Speaker 4: You think so just because of how smart he is, but,
- 35:06Speaker 4: but also I can imagine, you know, like he would
- 35:08Speaker 4: struggle probably early on to get some of those jobs.
- 35:11Speaker 4: He's not necessarily going to interview amazingly, especially at that
- 35:14Speaker 4: stage of his life. So, it's a, it's a question
- 35:17Speaker 4: that I thought a lot about. Um, but I think
- 35:19Speaker 4: eventually one day he would have gotten there, but it
- 35:21Speaker 4: would have taken a lot longer. And, you know, Bobby,
- 35:23Speaker 4: as you know, there's plenty of really talented people who
- 35:26Speaker 4: just never make it, um, because of other people like
- 35:29Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin who are getting that headstart.
- 35:31Speaker 1: It was so much nepotism. You're right. Even from where
- 35:34Speaker 1: he got into college to college. So, but his money seemed,
- 35:38Speaker 1: and I only know money from being a great defensive
- 35:40Speaker 1: coordinator at Tampa and then from going to Tennessee with
- 35:43Speaker 1: him for a bit. So, Like my Monty real life
- 35:46Speaker 1: knowledge was limited. I knew from just reading about him,
- 35:50Speaker 1: but like my actual like seeing it. But he was
- 35:54Speaker 1: so beloved. It felt like where Lane was exactly the opposite.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Like Monty was a people person. 100%.
- 36:00Speaker 4: And some of the Monty stories are just great. I
- 36:03Speaker 4: had a buddy who's also a journalist and was texting me.
- 36:06Speaker 4: He's like, he was cracking up laughing, the kind of
- 36:09Speaker 4: image of Monty Kiffin just in a sauna, just ripping cigs.
- 36:13Speaker 4: But Monty Kiffin was just like an old school guy
- 36:16Speaker 4: who everyone loved. And there's just an ease, or there
- 36:19Speaker 4: was an ease to Monty Kiffin that Lane just does
- 36:21Speaker 4: not have. And some of the stories that come to
- 36:24Speaker 4: mind for me, like him being a Knoxville, he was
- 36:26Speaker 4: the kind of guy who could walk into the local Chevron,
- 36:31Speaker 4: buy a six pack of beer, cut up with the cashier,
- 36:34Speaker 4: take a photo, let someone try on his Super Bowl ring.
- 36:38Speaker 4: He just had that thing about him that Lane does
- 36:41Speaker 4: not have. And it's one of the things that I
- 36:43Speaker 4: thought was so interesting to explore, Bobby, because there's no
- 36:46Speaker 4: doubt that Lane, he puts his dad on a pedestal.
- 36:49Speaker 4: He was even talking about his dad after the game
- 36:53Speaker 4: at Ole Miss over the weekend about how he missed
- 36:55Speaker 4: his dad going into a big game like this. He
- 36:58Speaker 4: has a portrait of his dad in his office. And
- 37:00Speaker 4: there's no question he is striving to be more like
- 37:03Speaker 4: his dad But deep down, he really is not that
- 37:06Speaker 4: much like his dad, at least from a personality and
- 37:09Speaker 4: emotional component standpoint. So it's just kind of this internal strife,
- 37:12Speaker 4: I think, for Lane that he always wants to be
- 37:14Speaker 4: more like his dad because everyone loves his dad. But
- 37:18Speaker 4: the thing that people seem to love the most about
- 37:20Speaker 4: his dad does not come very easily to Lane. And
- 37:23Speaker 4: that's kind of an interesting dynamic for him.
- 37:25Speaker 1: The last thing I'll say about Monty is it seemed
- 37:27Speaker 1: like Monty had the understanding of like a Jake or
- 37:29Speaker 1: Logan Paul way early on. And there was no ability
- 37:32Speaker 1: to go viral. But him doing things like being the
- 37:34Speaker 1: Lone Ranger at North Carolina State, or that he's going
- 37:37Speaker 1: to jump out of a helicopter, but he makes the
- 37:38Speaker 1: helicopter lower down to about a foot off the ground
- 37:40Speaker 1: when he jumps out. Like that's Jake Paul, Logan Paul
- 37:43Speaker 1: type stuff now that he was doing 30, 40 years
- 37:47Speaker 1: ago to get attention. And I thought he was ahead
- 37:50Speaker 1: of the game there a bit.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Very much ahead of his time. I mean, he also
- 37:53Speaker 4: had like a, you know, fight with Joe Frazier and
- 37:57Speaker 4: which like, he was like, I'm going to stand up
- 37:58Speaker 4: to him. And then I think once he got face
- 38:00Speaker 4: to face with him, realized, he might've bit off a
- 38:02Speaker 4: little more than he could chew. But he was always
- 38:05Speaker 4: kind of this charismatic guy who had these kind of
- 38:08Speaker 4: somewhat harebrained themes, schemes, but they were funny and players
- 38:12Speaker 4: loved them and coaches loved them. And Bobby, you're 1000% right.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Like I think if he came along 30 years later,
- 38:19Speaker 4: he would have gone viral all the time and his
- 38:22Speaker 4: recruiting would have probably boomed and all those things. And
- 38:24Speaker 4: that is something that I do think we see Lane
- 38:26Speaker 4: take away from some of Monty Kiffin as like the
- 38:29Speaker 4: head coach. Like, if you might've noticed for, you know,
- 38:32Speaker 4: at Ole Miss and they've kind of taken it with
- 38:34Speaker 4: them to LSU, like he's got a basketball hoop, you know,
- 38:37Speaker 4: on the sideline and they're, you know, dunking during games. They,
- 38:40Speaker 4: you know, would have a fire extinguisher that they would
- 38:42Speaker 4: start spraying after big plays. Like Wayne has kind of
- 38:45Speaker 4: his own kind of goofy stuff that he does as well.
- 38:48Speaker 4: And it certainly felt like to me that that's kind
- 38:50Speaker 4: of like the Monty Kiffin of it, of like, you
- 38:52Speaker 4: could just imagine Monty would have all kinds of, you know,
- 38:55Speaker 4: wild things and, I can remember the championship belts that
- 38:58Speaker 4: everybody was doing. He would have had something even funnier
- 39:00Speaker 4: and more interesting. So Monty was just an all-time great
- 39:03Speaker 4: in a lot of ways. And someone that guys who
- 39:06Speaker 4: played for him, people who coached with him, 40, 50
- 39:08Speaker 4: years later, just still speak with such love and admiration
- 39:12Speaker 4: for the man.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Two notes that I made was, why do you think
- 39:16Speaker 1: Derrick Henry didn't thank him at his Heisman speech when
- 39:18Speaker 1: he thanked everybody around him except for Lane, his offensive coordinator?
- 39:23Speaker 4: Lane did not have a lot of personal relationships with people.
- 39:26Speaker 4: um and i think sometimes uh i sometimes compare lane
- 39:30Speaker 4: to being a chess player and i think he's a
- 39:32Speaker 4: brilliant you know chess player that's how sometimes i think
- 39:34Speaker 4: he sees the football field and so i think sometimes
- 39:38Speaker 4: players might feel like they're just pieces on the board
- 39:40Speaker 4: you know rather than someone he has a real human
- 39:43Speaker 4: connection with it's something he has struggled with i think
- 39:45Speaker 4: throughout his career i mean bobby as you know reading
- 39:48Speaker 4: the book like some of those early USC days when
- 39:51Speaker 4: he was an assistant, the way the players talked about him,
- 39:54Speaker 4: not exactly the most favorable opinions of the guy, but
- 39:57Speaker 4: he eventually wins them over because of his brilliance and
- 40:00Speaker 4: offensive genius and all that kind of stuff. So I
- 40:03Speaker 4: think guys like Derrick Henry, who grew up a certain
- 40:05Speaker 4: kind of way, they want to be respected, they want
- 40:08Speaker 4: to be talked to a certain kind of way. And
- 40:10Speaker 4: Wayne doesn't always excel in that aspect of things. And
- 40:14Speaker 4: so I remember covering that team. It stood out to
- 40:17Speaker 4: me in the moment when I was watching that Heisman
- 40:19Speaker 4: trophy and kind of reading it back again, I was like, wow, that,
- 40:22Speaker 4: I mean, he named everybody, but Lane Kiffin.
- 40:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 4: I mean, everyone. Um, and so I think there was some,
- 40:28Speaker 4: you know, some personal issues there, just not a lot of, uh,
- 40:32Speaker 4: maybe not feeling that he was getting as much respect
- 40:34Speaker 4: as maybe he should have.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Did you have to not write about some of the,
- 40:38Speaker 1: the womanizing and hooking up because you had so much,
- 40:42Speaker 1: because it, There were instances, and you mentioned it, and
- 40:45Speaker 1: it was something that happened pretty much everywhere. But I
- 40:48Speaker 1: have to imagine you had some great stories that you
- 40:50Speaker 1: did not put in the book.
- 40:51Speaker 4: I mean, the whole book could have been that if
- 40:52Speaker 4: I really wanted it to be. That's not the book
- 40:56Speaker 4: that I wanted to write. But just everywhere, right? I
- 41:01Speaker 4: was in Oxford this past weekend. I was in Oxford
- 41:04Speaker 4: from Wednesday on. I was kind of bouncing around. But
- 41:07Speaker 4: even just being back in Oxford for a few days,
- 41:10Speaker 4: and the book's already out and it's done. And people
- 41:11Speaker 4: are like, I still got another story for you. I mean,
- 41:13Speaker 4: people coming up to me and telling me stories that
- 41:15Speaker 4: included a lot of that kind of stuff. Um, and
- 41:17Speaker 4: so they're everywhere. It's something that, you know, everyone has
- 41:22Speaker 4: their story, especially in a small town, whether it's Oxford, Knoxville,
- 41:25Speaker 4: other places like, and it's kind of amazing that it
- 41:28Speaker 4: hasn't really gotten more out there given that everyone knows,
- 41:31Speaker 4: but I think he's benefited from winning at a lot
- 41:34Speaker 4: of those places and people taking care of him and
- 41:36Speaker 4: cleaning things up for him and all that kind of stuff. But, Yeah,
- 41:39Speaker 4: I mean, there was a lot there. And, frankly, Bobby,
- 41:42Speaker 4: I just made the kind of determination, like, especially with, like,
- 41:46Speaker 4: specific women. Like, they're private people. Like, you know, they
- 41:48Speaker 4: don't need to get pulled into some of this stuff. But,
- 41:51Speaker 4: I mean, there are some absolutely outlandish stories out there.
- 41:56Speaker 4: And maybe if there's an X-rated version of this book
- 42:00Speaker 4: down the line, we could sneak a few more of
- 42:02Speaker 4: those in there.
- 42:02Speaker 1: The Talti OnlyFans account is just him telling all the
- 42:05Speaker 1: Lane stories. I got a couple more things.
- 42:08Speaker 4: So.
- 42:09Speaker 1: As someone who has been told, even by my doctor,
- 42:12Speaker 1: that there's a chance that I'm scraping the spectrum a
- 42:14Speaker 1: little bit because I have some extreme social, I won't
- 42:17Speaker 1: say anxiety, but awkwardness at times. And sometimes I have
- 42:20Speaker 1: an inability to connect whenever it's in human form. I
- 42:23Speaker 1: felt when I would read that about Lane, there were
- 42:25Speaker 1: times where I could feel that people would, right or wrong, go, man,
- 42:29Speaker 1: this guy's just a massive dick. When at times he
- 42:32Speaker 1: just did not understand how to connect or what was
- 42:37Speaker 1: even socially acceptable. And the two times that come to
- 42:39Speaker 1: mind are, and I would ask you to classify, is
- 42:43Speaker 1: he being a dick or did he just not understand?
- 42:45Speaker 1: One would be when the restaurant in Oxford that's super
- 42:49Speaker 1: nice and he calls the chef and he's like, I
- 42:50Speaker 1: need an eight seater in five minutes and the place
- 42:53Speaker 1: is packed. Like, is that him just not understanding or
- 42:56Speaker 1: is that him being Lane Kiffin, the coach who thinks
- 42:58Speaker 1: he deserves to have a table at any time?
- 43:01Speaker 4: I put it more in the former. It's certainly possible,
- 43:04Speaker 4: you know, that it could be the latter. But I
- 43:06Speaker 4: do think Lane views the world as transactional. And, you know,
- 43:09Speaker 4: there's things that you do for him and he does
- 43:11Speaker 4: for you. And I don't think he, you know, maybe
- 43:14Speaker 4: viewed it that it was going to land the way
- 43:17Speaker 4: that it did, you know, with that restaurant. But I
- 43:20Speaker 4: do think that that's something that he does struggle with.
- 43:23Speaker 4: There's some selfishness there. And of course, I'm Lane Kiffin,
- 43:27Speaker 4: of course, you should be able to clear out a
- 43:30Speaker 4: table of eight for me anytime I need. And if
- 43:33Speaker 4: I don't show up, oh, well, something came up for me,
- 43:35Speaker 4: you'll figure it out. I mean, that's kind of how
- 43:37Speaker 4: the chef was an owner was explaining it to me.
- 43:40Speaker 4: And so I don't know that it was like pure maliciousness.
- 43:44Speaker 4: I think it was more just like thoughtlessness, more than anything.
- 43:47Speaker 4: And who knows what he was dealing with that day that,
- 43:50Speaker 4: you know, caused him to do that. But It was
- 43:53Speaker 4: not a one-off. It's kind of how it was explained
- 43:55Speaker 4: to me. And I think that John Kearns, the owner
- 43:59Speaker 4: of City Grocery and Bure and all those great restaurants
- 44:01Speaker 4: in Oxford, he called Lane out for it. And he
- 44:04Speaker 4: said that Lane seemed to appreciate being called out for it.
- 44:06Speaker 4: So there was at least some recognition of, okay, I
- 44:09Speaker 4: get why I shouldn't have done that. And moving forward,
- 44:12Speaker 4: I'll try not to. But that was not necessarily unique
- 44:16Speaker 4: just to John experience. I think a lot of people
- 44:19Speaker 4: in Oxford felt like there was some of that happening.
- 44:21Speaker 1: The other one, the last thing, and then we can
- 44:22Speaker 1: talk about what happened this weekend. But the other one was,
- 44:25Speaker 1: in his first contract, he didn't have any private plane usage.
- 44:28Speaker 1: And so a donor gives him his plane. And then
- 44:31Speaker 1: Lane takes a picture inside the plane. He's like, can
- 44:32Speaker 1: you believe they put me on this POS? Like a
- 44:34Speaker 1: plane that was just voluntarily given to him. What are
- 44:38Speaker 1: your thoughts on that move?
- 44:39Speaker 4: I think it's kind of the same thing. I think
- 44:41Speaker 4: it's kind of selfishness, right? It's like there's an expectation of...
- 44:46Speaker 4: I'm Lane Kiffin. Of course I should have a great plane.
- 44:48Speaker 4: And eventually he did get, you know, bigger and better stuff.
- 44:51Speaker 4: But again, that's just, I think the thoughtlessness that people,
- 44:53Speaker 4: they are described of, you know, wanting things his way,
- 44:58Speaker 4: very rarely being told no anytime he wanted something. And,
- 45:04Speaker 4: you know, just that feeling like I deserve this and
- 45:07Speaker 4: you should give it to me. Now I will say,
- 45:09Speaker 4: if you're going to give the most positive interpretation of
- 45:12Speaker 4: Lane and that specific story, you know, Lane can be
- 45:16Speaker 4: a funny guy and he has, you know, even said
- 45:19Speaker 4: to me, like, you know, people really know me, think
- 45:21Speaker 4: I'm really funny. And so does he think like, was
- 45:24Speaker 4: that him attending to make a joke and he thought
- 45:27Speaker 4: it would land differently of like, Hey, look at me. Instead,
- 45:31Speaker 4: you know, the guy who just gave it to him
- 45:33Speaker 4: was like, this guy's insulting me. I just gave him
- 45:35Speaker 4: this free thing. So it's possible that maybe he was
- 45:39Speaker 4: trying to make a joke. That's the best possible interpretation
- 45:41Speaker 4: that I can come up with. Um, but, Lane is
- 45:44Speaker 4: just a unique character. And I think some of the,
- 45:49Speaker 4: like what you were saying earlier, Bobby, I think it's
- 45:51Speaker 4: much easier to kind of him passing by someone in
- 45:55Speaker 4: the hallway and he doesn't acknowledge them. I don't think
- 45:57Speaker 4: that's him being a jerk. I think he's thinking about
- 45:59Speaker 4: something that he has to be doing that day and
- 46:02Speaker 4: he's just moving on from place to place. There's a
- 46:04Speaker 4: lot of things that I think I can easily explain
- 46:06Speaker 4: away as social awkwardness and not necessarily personal. Trying to
- 46:10Speaker 4: do anything to harm anybody or trying to be rude
- 46:12Speaker 4: or any of those kind of things. But the plane
- 46:14Speaker 4: one did kind of stand out to me of like,
- 46:16Speaker 4: that's a jerk move right there. And I mean, Bobby,
- 46:19Speaker 4: imagine I'm sure you've done things for people where you've
- 46:22Speaker 4: done something out of your own money or you gave
- 46:25Speaker 4: something to somebody. If you got a text like that,
- 46:27Speaker 4: how would you take that?
- 46:28Speaker 1: Yeah, not good. I sent a guy on our show
- 46:30Speaker 1: with my own money to Vegas because the company didn't
- 46:33Speaker 1: invite him, and he just complained about the time I
- 46:34Speaker 1: booked it. So yeah, yeah, yeah. The book, A +.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I read the whole thing. Obviously, I read it because
- 46:42Speaker 1: I had all these questions. So you guys, if it
- 46:44Speaker 1: halfway interests you, I encourage you to read it because, John,
- 46:48Speaker 1: great job. Fantastic.
- 46:50Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 46:50Speaker 4: I appreciate that. It means a lot. I know you're
- 46:52Speaker 4: working through the wager, I think, the last time we talked.
- 46:54Speaker 4: So you went through it fast. I'm I'm impressed by that.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I'm quite the voracious reader, you know? Okay. How bad
- 47:01Speaker 1: did this one hurt for Lane against Ole Miss?
- 47:04Speaker 4: Man, he looked sad afterwards. It was, it was a
- 47:07Speaker 4: tough scene for him and I was kind of following
- 47:09Speaker 4: him around coming off the field. And then I went
- 47:11Speaker 4: into his press conference and, you know, he was, he
- 47:14Speaker 4: does this in general a little bit, but I mean,
- 47:15Speaker 4: just talking very low, almost close to mumbling a little bit,
- 47:19Speaker 4: just like you could just feel that, that it was
- 47:23Speaker 4: landing heavy on him. And, And he talked about that
- 47:26Speaker 4: it was more emotional than I think he anticipated. And
- 47:30Speaker 4: he's been through it before. He'd done the kind of
- 47:32Speaker 4: the famous return to Tennessee and he was able to emerge,
- 47:35Speaker 4: you know, victorious. And so I'm sure he imagined walking out,
- 47:38Speaker 4: being able to troll Ole Miss fans. And, you know,
- 47:41Speaker 4: when it didn't happen, I think it did hit him
- 47:43Speaker 4: and realize that, you know, he did put a lot
- 47:47Speaker 4: of time and energy into the place and that they
- 47:49Speaker 4: are in a great place, but that, you know, to
- 47:51Speaker 4: lose to them, it's hurtful. It's tough. And, I do
- 47:55Speaker 4: think that the buildup to the game and everything that
- 47:59Speaker 4: came with it seemed to impact him. That was kind
- 48:02Speaker 4: of the impression that I got that it impacted him
- 48:05Speaker 4: and maybe seeing and hearing some of the things people
- 48:08Speaker 4: around town were saying about him, maybe hurt him or
- 48:11Speaker 4: impacted him more than he expected.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Pretty strong picture though, at the end of the game
- 48:15Speaker 1: when the Ole Miss guys are pointing at him as
- 48:16Speaker 1: the game is over.
- 48:17Speaker 4: That's that, uh, that image is going to be hung
- 48:22Speaker 4: in houses all through the state of Mississippi. Uh, people
- 48:25Speaker 4: might be working on it, uh, already. Um, I mean,
- 48:28Speaker 4: it's just an all time moment. Um, and I was
- 48:31Speaker 4: kind of right on the sidelines. So they were kind
- 48:33Speaker 4: of running toward, um, I was opposite sides. So I
- 48:36Speaker 4: saw them kind of do that. And then they ran,
- 48:37Speaker 4: you know, toward, uh, the fans to celebrate as dancing
- 48:41Speaker 4: queen started blasting inside, uh, their stadium. But I mean,
- 48:44Speaker 4: just to have that, the wave, the point, uh, lane,
- 48:48Speaker 4: you know, kind of feeling the, the, intensity of the moment,
- 48:52Speaker 4: knowing he had just lost. It just, it could not
- 48:54Speaker 4: have worked out any better for Ole Miss, truly. And,
- 48:58Speaker 4: you know, I was around some of the tailgates in
- 49:01Speaker 4: the Grove before the game, and the one thing that
- 49:03Speaker 4: just kept sticking out, I had a friend who told me,
- 49:05Speaker 4: it's like, if football gods are real, we will win
- 49:07Speaker 4: this game. Like, if they're real, one time, we will
- 49:10Speaker 4: get this game. Like, we, the karma of it all, like,
- 49:13Speaker 4: one time. And so, it meant a lot to everybody
- 49:16Speaker 4: at Ole Miss, of course, to win that game. And
- 49:18Speaker 4: you saw once it was finally over once they realized
- 49:22Speaker 4: that LSU couldn't come back the mask kind of dropped
- 49:25Speaker 4: a little bit and all the it's just another game
- 49:28Speaker 4: fell away and you saw the way they celebrated the
- 49:31Speaker 4: way that Trinidad Chambliss talked about the game afterwards like
- 49:34Speaker 4: they wanted this one bad and to be able to
- 49:37Speaker 4: you know send off their former coach back to Louisiana
- 49:39Speaker 4: with a loss almost indescribable how much it meant to,
- 49:43Speaker 4: you know, not only the team, but also their fans.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Did it feel different, the environment there at Vaught-Hemingway, or
- 49:49Speaker 1: was it, I mean, just a hyped up SEC game?
- 49:52Speaker 4: It felt different. I've been fortunate to cover a lot
- 49:55Speaker 4: of great games in my career, and that atmosphere is
- 49:58Speaker 4: up there with any of them. I mean, the one
- 50:01Speaker 4: that sometimes I reference that stands out the most from
- 50:04Speaker 4: just a regular season game was 2022 Alabama-Tennessee, when Tennessee
- 50:08Speaker 4: finally beat Alabama after all those years of Alabama bullying them.
- 50:12Speaker 4: And it felt like a kind of a cathartic release
- 50:14Speaker 4: for Tennessee fans. And I felt a lot of that,
- 50:17Speaker 4: you know, in Oxford. There's so much buildup to it.
- 50:20Speaker 4: I mean, just was there from Wednesday, Thursday on. And
- 50:22Speaker 4: just every day, the place is getting more and more crowded,
- 50:25Speaker 4: more and more people coming into town to talk about it.
- 50:27Speaker 4: And the scene was great inside the stadium. I mean,
- 50:31Speaker 4: it was a record crowd. They packed in as many
- 50:34Speaker 4: people as they possibly could. in what's one of the
- 50:36Speaker 4: smaller SEC stadiums. They had more fireworks than you'll see
- 50:40Speaker 4: probably anywhere other than New York City on July 4th.
- 50:43Speaker 4: I mean, it was an unbelievable display. I think they
- 50:46Speaker 4: threw all the money they had at that game and
- 50:49Speaker 4: kind of the celebration that they were doing. But you
- 50:52Speaker 4: could just feel there was an energy about the place
- 50:54Speaker 4: that felt different. And then, you know, being on the
- 50:57Speaker 4: field the last, you know, six, seven minutes of the
- 51:00Speaker 4: game and just feeling the tension in the building and
- 51:04Speaker 4: then the release of, Chambliss scoring the touchdown to go ahead,
- 51:07Speaker 4: getting the two point conversion, getting that interception at the end.
- 51:10Speaker 4: I mean, some of the loudest pops in a stadium
- 51:13Speaker 4: I've ever heard. And again, you know, it's not one
- 51:16Speaker 4: of the bigger stadiums, which just speaks to, I think,
- 51:19Speaker 4: how revved up the Ole Miss fans were for this one.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Let's bounce around real quick. Is Kentucky good or is
- 51:28Speaker 1: Texas A & M bad?
- 51:30Speaker 4: I think it's a mix. A & M was my
- 51:32Speaker 4: most overrated team coming into the season. And you had
- 51:35Speaker 4: to pick somebody, right? So I wasn't saying A &
- 51:37Speaker 4: M was bad. But I think there were questions. I mean,
- 51:40Speaker 4: they lost so many guys to the NFL. I was
- 51:43Speaker 4: probably a little shakier on Marcel Reed than maybe the
- 51:46Speaker 4: average person. So I had some questions. I wasn't predicting
- 51:49Speaker 4: a loss to Kentucky, to be fair. But I did
- 51:51Speaker 4: think that A & M might have some challenges. A &
- 51:54Speaker 4: M and Oklahoma were the two teams that I kind
- 51:56Speaker 4: of pointed out as the teams that I thought in
- 51:57Speaker 4: the SEC– that could underachieve relative to our preseason expectations.
- 52:02Speaker 4: So A & M, I mean, listen, here's the beauty
- 52:07Speaker 4: and brutality of the SEC. Lane Kiffin just loses this
- 52:11Speaker 4: super emotional, tough game at Oxford. He's got to turn
- 52:16Speaker 4: around and now play a Texas A & M team
- 52:17Speaker 4: that just lost to Kentucky and is feeling probably pretty PO'd.
- 52:22Speaker 4: So one of those two teams now is going to
- 52:23Speaker 4: start out 0-2 A & M. in the SEC. And
- 52:26Speaker 4: those are two teams that we expected to be in
- 52:28Speaker 4: the playoff at the start of the year. So that,
- 52:30Speaker 4: you know, one of them is going to get off
- 52:31Speaker 4: to a really rough start. So that's concerning for A &
- 52:34Speaker 4: M for sure. Kentucky, I think is better than, you know,
- 52:37Speaker 4: maybe we expected. They invested a lot in the offensive
- 52:40Speaker 4: line this off season, which thought, you know, maybe that
- 52:44Speaker 4: could help them a bit, be a little bit better
- 52:46Speaker 4: than what Kentucky was at the end of Mark Stubbs.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Will Stein, of course, you know, one of the better
- 52:51Speaker 4: offensive coordinators in the country when he was at Oregon.
- 52:54Speaker 4: And so, They played Bama super tough for a half
- 52:57Speaker 4: a week ago. They faded big time down the stretch,
- 53:00Speaker 4: but able to beat A & M. It feels like
- 53:03Speaker 4: Kentucky has some momentum. Just from what I'm seeing so far,
- 53:08Speaker 4: this is potentially a really strong top-to-bottom SEC. If you've
- 53:12Speaker 4: got teams like Kentucky who can beat a top-25 team,
- 53:15Speaker 4: you've got Mississippi State 3-0. People thought they might win
- 53:19Speaker 4: three or four games, Period. They're already at 3-0. If
- 53:22Speaker 4: the quote-unquote bottom of the SEC is already doing that,
- 53:25Speaker 4: it's just going to be an absolute gauntlet the rest
- 53:28Speaker 4: of the way for some of these top teams.
- 53:30Speaker 1: If Arkansas were to win out, would they be national champions?
- 53:36Speaker 4: What percentage would you put of that happening.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Right now, Bobby?
- 53:39Speaker 1: Can it be negative? Can we go negative? I'm hurting, John.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I'm hurting. This is the worst of my life. This
- 53:43Speaker 1: is the absolute worst of my life.
- 53:46Speaker 4: I actually wanted to ask you about this. You have
- 53:49Speaker 4: your finger on that pulse better than anybody, including me.
- 53:52Speaker 4: Where is the fan base at right now with Ryan Silverfield?
- 53:55Speaker 4: Is it more we're out on Hunter and something needs
- 53:58Speaker 4: to happen there, or are they already like, I'm only
- 54:00Speaker 4: a couple games in, but I already know Ryan's not
- 54:02Speaker 4: the guy? Because you and I have talked about Ryan's
- 54:04Speaker 4: a nice guy. I think he's a good coach, but
- 54:06Speaker 4: people seem to be freaking out, but you know it
- 54:08Speaker 4: better than I do.
- 54:09Speaker 1: I think everybody wants your check out. And some people
- 54:13Speaker 1: want Eurocheck out and everybody else. But I think people
- 54:15Speaker 1: are just looking for someone to be mad at because
- 54:18Speaker 1: it is so poor. But it is not Silverfield's fault.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Will we not win because of Silverfield? Well, we will
- 54:24Speaker 1: know that answer in possibly two seasons, quicker than it
- 54:27Speaker 1: used to be. We used to give four. Now we
- 54:29Speaker 1: got money involved. We'll give two. It's not Silverfield's fault.
- 54:33Speaker 1: There were some things that he was promised he did
- 54:34Speaker 1: not get. I know that for a fact. We also
- 54:37Speaker 1: are the least or second depending on what source you
- 54:40Speaker 1: look at, spending team in the SEC, you're just not
- 54:43Speaker 1: going to win. So it eventually could be Silverfield's fault,
- 54:48Speaker 1: but halfway intelligent fans know you can't blame that on
- 54:51Speaker 1: him right now. Maybe in two years, yes. But I
- 54:55Speaker 1: also personally do not like our athletic director, and neither
- 54:58Speaker 1: do a lot of other donors, for how just, I
- 55:02Speaker 1: would say, completely unwarm he is towards donors. And so
- 55:08Speaker 1: a lot of us have gone, hey, if it's not
- 55:10Speaker 1: for somebody else, we'd have probably limited our money. I
- 55:13Speaker 1: think most people want to see the athletic director gone.
- 55:16Speaker 1: But even then, I think it's partially because it's a culture.
- 55:19Speaker 1: It's a decade. But I think it's above him a
- 55:21Speaker 1: little too. But it's not Silverfield's fault, but it is
- 55:25Speaker 1: the darkest it's ever been in my entire life. That's rough.
- 55:28Speaker 4: And I think, Bobby, to your point, I think there's
- 55:30Speaker 4: this great, and you know this, obviously, but there's this
- 55:33Speaker 4: great misperception that Arkansas has all this money because of
- 55:38Speaker 4: some of the big boldface names that we associate, you know,
- 55:41Speaker 4: with Arkansas. And just because you have very rich people
- 55:46Speaker 4: who maybe graduated from Arkansas or have companies based in
- 55:49Speaker 4: Arkansas does not mean that they're giving massive amounts of
- 55:52Speaker 4: money to NIL and other things. You know, I went
- 55:55Speaker 4: to Maryland, Sergey Brin went there, guess what, he's not
- 55:59Speaker 4: donating $ 10 million to the NIL fund, right? So like,
- 56:01Speaker 4: just because you have rich people doesn't mean that they're
- 56:03Speaker 4: giving and I think just because of like some of those, again,
- 56:06Speaker 4: those really famous names that we all know, people just
- 56:09Speaker 4: assume that they have like the biggest arsenal out of anybody.
- 56:12Speaker 4: And it's just not the case. There is not a
- 56:15Speaker 4: Phil Knight right now who's just like, I will do
- 56:17Speaker 4: everything I can to make Arkansas a national championship team.
- 56:21Speaker 4: And that's something that's probably going to have to change
- 56:24Speaker 4: if they're going to want to be more competitive. Because
- 56:27Speaker 4: as you noted, like they are at the bottom, them
- 56:30Speaker 4: and Mississippi State, maybe a couple others, you know, in
- 56:32Speaker 4: terms of spending this year and they're probably at least
- 56:36Speaker 4: $ 20 million off of the top of the SEC, and
- 56:41Speaker 4: you can hope that your coach can find that edge
- 56:43Speaker 4: X's and O's wise, but that's a pretty massive gap
- 56:46Speaker 4: from a financial standpoint, and at a certain point, you
- 56:49Speaker 4: play out, and the win-loss record plays out based on
- 56:52Speaker 4: some of your spending, and you have to kind of
- 56:55Speaker 4: adjust your expectations relative to that.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of the rich of Arkansas, especially the Walmarts, etc.,
- 57:00Speaker 1: even the Jerry Jones, but they want to put their
- 57:03Speaker 1: names on buildings. So they do give, but they don't
- 57:06Speaker 1: care about giving for one year of players because that
- 57:10Speaker 1: money just goes away. They'd rather give millions and build
- 57:13Speaker 1: something that lasts and has an impact and has their
- 57:15Speaker 1: name on it for two decades more so than let's
- 57:19Speaker 1: throw some monies at a defensive tackle or so. But yeah, anyway,
- 57:22Speaker 1: enough about me. Well, look, the book, I can't say
- 57:25Speaker 1: it enough. I, I ate it up. It was fantastic
- 57:29Speaker 1: and congratulations. And I hope people are loving it. And, um, Yeah,
- 57:33Speaker 1: it's cool you get to be at the game. I
- 57:34Speaker 1: had to watch it on my phone from backstage in
- 57:36Speaker 1: Las Vegas, and luckily I got to watch the entire
- 57:39Speaker 1: second half. I thought LSU was going to come back
- 57:41Speaker 1: and win it just because that's what usually happens, and
- 57:44Speaker 1: I thought Lane was going to get his day. I
- 57:46Speaker 1: was happy to see he didn't. I was Ole Miss
- 57:48Speaker 1: for a night. For one night only, I was Ole Miss. So, hey, John,
- 57:52Speaker 1: thanks for spending time with us, and everybody read the
- 57:55Speaker 1: book and also read John's work as well. But, John,
- 57:58Speaker 1: thank you, and we'll talk to you again soon.
- 58:00Speaker 4: Sounds good. Appreciate it, Bobby.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Thanks, John. All right, before we go, what's happening with
- 58:09Speaker 1: that cow you guys bought?
- 58:12Speaker 6: Yeah, Eddie.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Didn't you put your money into?
- 58:14Speaker 6: I didn't. I did, yeah. I did, and then a friend,
- 58:17Speaker 6: so it was us three.
- 58:18Speaker 1: How much money did you spend on the cow?
- 58:21Speaker 6: What was it, $ 250?
- 58:22Speaker 3: I think $ 300 each. $ 300?
- 58:24Speaker 6: Where's the cow?
- 58:26Speaker 3: February. February is when the cow's ready to be. Distributed.
- 58:29Speaker 6: Have you gotten any updates?
- 58:31Speaker 3: No, zero. And that reminds me, I'll send a text
- 58:34Speaker 3: out and be like, how's the cow? Do you guys
- 58:35Speaker 3: want a picture? I'm sure we can get a picture
- 58:37Speaker 3: of the cow.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Well, I can find a picture of a cow, too,
- 58:38Speaker 1: if you just want a picture.
- 58:39Speaker 5: Of a cow.
- 58:40Speaker 3: He actually invited me to the farm. He's like, you
- 58:43Speaker 3: should come over and just see the farm. And I'm like, man,
- 58:45Speaker 3: I don't know if I actually want to meet the cow.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Oh, I wouldn't want to meet the cow.
- 58:48Speaker 6: I don't want to meet the cow.
- 58:49Speaker 3: No way.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Meet the cow, you're going to murder and eat?
- 58:53Speaker 3: Unless I just go to the farm and just kind of,
- 58:55Speaker 3: don't tell me which one it is, and I'll just
- 58:57Speaker 3: kind of.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Then it could be any of them. I know. It
- 58:59Speaker 1: could be all of them.
- 59:00Speaker 3: No, dude, for your question, it's coming.
- 59:03Speaker 6: I was just thinking about it the other day. I
- 59:04Speaker 6: was like, dang, I forgot about the cow. That was, what,
- 59:08Speaker 6: six months ago?
- 59:08Speaker 3: Yes, and the thing I've been... thinking about is I
- 59:10Speaker 3: need a refrigerator before it comes. Because I don't have
- 59:13Speaker 3: a freezer. I don't have room for all that meat.
- 59:16Speaker 1: We got until February.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we got time.
- 59:18Speaker 1: Yeah. There's your update.
- 59:19Speaker 2: None.
- 59:20Speaker 1: He can get you a picture of a cow if
- 59:21Speaker 1: you want.
- 59:21Speaker 3: If you want to see the cow.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Or he can take you to some random farm to
- 59:24Speaker 1: meet a random cow. There it is.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Hey, I got a question for you. What's up with
- 59:27Speaker 3: Tom Brady?
- 59:28Speaker 1: What about him?
- 59:29Speaker 3: Did you hear him say? Yeah. What's he doing?
- 59:33Speaker 1: I don't know. You can't say that on network television.
- 59:35Speaker 1: You can't say that. I heard that live, too.
- 59:36Speaker 6: I was like, wait. Did he really just say that?
- 59:38Speaker 3: I was watching it in the car.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Say what he said, but don't say it. The P missile.
- 59:43Speaker 3: No, not that.
- 59:44Speaker 1: No.
- 59:45Speaker 3: Oh.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:46Speaker 3: When he saw Jaden Daniels' injury, he goes, oh, shh.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:50Speaker 3: And I was watching it in the car. It was
- 59:53Speaker 3: connected to Bluetooth, so the whole family's listening. And the
- 59:56Speaker 3: whole car goes, what did he say?
- 59:59Speaker 1: How about Trinidad Chambliss saying hottie effing toddy? That was good.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Hey, question about that, too. Is hottie toddy related to hoity-toity?
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: No.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Okay, move on.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think it's a drink. They
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: drink hot toddies down there.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: I didn't know if it was.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: It could be.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I never thought of it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: What is a hoity-toity?
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Because hoity-toity is somebody who's better than you.
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: Oh, I can all hoity-toity.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I feel like Ole Miss kind of acts that way. Like,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: we're hoity-toity.
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: Oh, that's a good call, actually.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Is it?
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: Because they're known as like the rich SEC. Is it
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: a good call?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Hoity-toity. Mike, will you see if they have anything to
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: do with each other? They have nothing to do with
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: each other.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Okay, let's check it.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: All right, we're done. Thank you, everybody. We'll see you
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: later on this week. Again, thanks to John Talty for
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: coming on. The book's excellent. Eddie, blow the whistle. How
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: about them Cowboys, huh?
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: How about them Cowboys? Put the hat on. Put the
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: hat on.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: And now we're already done. All right, we'll see you guys.
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: Bye, everybody.
