- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News.
- 0:03Speaker 2: This is Sharry Good Evening.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Welcome tonight.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Did Albanizi cover up a hostile incident with the Chinese
- 0:13Speaker 4: fighter jet to avoid questions in Parliament. This act of
- 0:17Speaker 4: aggression happened on Tuesday, but it's only been made public
- 0:21Speaker 4: this evening. I'm going to speak about this cover up
- 0:24Speaker 4: with Matt Canavan and Basil Zemplus in a moment.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Also on the.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Show, the Midwife who's been warning about hate speech in
- 0:32Speaker 4: the health system for months, but when she complained she
- 0:36Speaker 4: ended up under investigation.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Sharon Stallier will be here shortly.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Tony Burke's agency selects an artist whose work includes a
- 0:46Speaker 4: terror leader to represent Australia at an overseas festival.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I'll bring you his.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Sheepish response to our questions in a moment, and Antoinette
- 0:56Speaker 4: Latouf slammed for turning up to court in a reported
- 1:00Speaker 4: undred one thousand dollars wardrobe, plus the cringe social media
- 1:04Speaker 4: videos from ministers.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Don't they have any work to do?
- 1:09Speaker 4: But first tonight Peter Dutton says there should be debate
- 1:12Speaker 4: about Australia's migration system, amid calls to strip those two nurses.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Of their citizenship.
- 1:20Speaker 4: One of the nurses armed Russian Idea, was given Australian
- 1:24Speaker 4: citizenship in twenty twenty. Well Darton says, this exposes major
- 1:29Speaker 4: flaws with the migration system that someone so racist, who
- 1:34Speaker 4: seems to hate our country was granted precious citizenship.
- 1:40Speaker 5: We've got big problems in this country when somebody like
- 1:43Speaker 5: that can become an Australian citizen. So there needs to
- 1:46Speaker 5: be a proper process in place to understand how this
- 1:50Speaker 5: individual became an Australian citizen and where the failing in
- 1:53Speaker 5: the system originated, and how we can make sure it
- 1:56Speaker 5: doesn't happen again.
- 1:58Speaker 4: And just as a reminder as to how vile the
- 2:01Speaker 4: comments are, because they've been downplayed in a lot of
- 2:04Speaker 4: quarters today.
- 2:05Speaker 2: And I'll get to that.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Here's what Ahmed told Israeli Max Weifer.
- 2:12Speaker 6: So, if an Israeli is in Australia and that's what
- 2:15Speaker 6: something happened to him, and he comes.
- 2:17Speaker 3: To your hospital, would you kill him?
- 2:20Speaker 7: Okay, you have no idea how many Israeli dog came
- 2:24Speaker 7: to this hospital.
- 2:24Speaker 4: And Jehanna well Darton said, it's an outrage that citizenship
- 2:34Speaker 4: was given to that individual.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And he said, in light of this video, there.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Should be a national discussion about the inadequacies of our
- 2:42Speaker 4: migration system.
- 2:44Speaker 5: At some stage our country has to have a discussion.
- 2:47Speaker 5: I think about the way in which the whole migration
- 2:49Speaker 5: system works, the people who are involved for years and
- 2:52Speaker 5: years at the cost of millions of dollars in the
- 2:54Speaker 5: court process, the way in which we have to pay
- 2:58Speaker 5: for offshore processing hundreds of millions of dollars a year,
- 3:02Speaker 5: And when we have somebody like this who gets through
- 3:05Speaker 5: the net obviously has breached his obligation about a loyalty
- 3:10Speaker 5: to our country when he became an Australian citizen, and
- 3:13Speaker 5: yet he has the ability to stay in our country.
- 3:16Speaker 4: And Darton was speaking to Ben Fordham, who said that
- 3:19Speaker 4: he'd been flooded with listeners saying that those two should
- 3:22Speaker 4: be deported. But as much as we may sit here
- 3:26Speaker 4: tonight and say there's no place for racist individuals like
- 3:30Speaker 4: this in our country, that Australian values are of tolerance
- 3:34Speaker 4: and matship and inclusion, well the law is that unless
- 3:39Speaker 4: they're dual citizens, there's nothing that can be done to
- 3:43Speaker 4: strip their Australian citizenship. This debate rage today as evidence
- 3:49Speaker 4: emerged that one of those nurses led a prayer about
- 3:53Speaker 4: Martyrdom at a Sydney mosque food.
- 4:07Speaker 2: God on siod.
- 4:12Speaker 8: On.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Now we can't verify that prayer independently, but the Daily
- 4:20Speaker 4: Mail and this is reported widely today. The Daily Mail
- 4:23Speaker 4: reports that a clip posted to YouTube in June twenty
- 4:27Speaker 4: twenty shows an Idea's prayer to Martyrdom and they say
- 4:31Speaker 4: that was just months before he was granted Australian citizenship
- 4:36Speaker 4: and it seems his hatred towards Jews is not isolated.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Sky News reporter Crystal Wu went out to Bankstown today
- 4:45Speaker 4: and she found that some men were very comfortable going
- 4:49Speaker 4: on camera saying that they agreed with those nurses that
- 4:53Speaker 4: Israeli should be killed.
- 4:56Speaker 9: Them.
- 4:56Speaker 6: He said, yes, in any way possible.
- 5:00Speaker 10: You stand with the fact that someone has threatened to
- 5:03Speaker 10: kill and not treat a Jewish patient.
- 5:05Speaker 6: And what about all the kids that Jews have killed.
- 5:07Speaker 6: Israel's killing kids in Palestini and people here obviously all
- 5:11Speaker 6: around the world, look what they did and live on
- 5:13Speaker 6: them as well.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Look, this is the fear that the hatred of Jews
- 5:19Speaker 4: is now widespread, particularly in Sydney's West and senior Islamic
- 5:25Speaker 4: leaders also failed to properly call this out today the
- 5:29Speaker 4: Lebanese Muslim Association secretary Garmel Kira.
- 5:33Speaker 2: He was on with Laura Jays this morning and.
- 5:36Speaker 4: He wouldn't condemn the nurses as individuals. He even compared
- 5:42Speaker 4: them to soccer star samker.
- 5:45Speaker 11: Why won't you condemn the individuals they have a special
- 5:49Speaker 11: place in society as nurses.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Because I believe in a due process process. What do
- 5:57Speaker 2: you mean by that?
- 5:58Speaker 11: Because I mean it's pretty black and white.
- 6:01Speaker 7: Let the police, due and the Department of Health do
- 6:05Speaker 7: their due diligence just the way you're alluding to, it
- 6:08Speaker 7: is condemning them already prior to the whole trial process.
- 6:11Speaker 2: What are you potentially waiting for, Sam Kerr?
- 6:14Speaker 7: Do we condemn her statements? No, we condemned the statements
- 6:18Speaker 7: that she made. But do we condemn her No we don't.
- 6:23Speaker 7: We will reach out and we make the attempt to
- 6:26Speaker 7: rectify what is clearly a racist statement.
- 6:31Speaker 4: How can he possibly compare these anti Semitic nurses with
- 6:36Speaker 4: Sam Kerr. It's absurd sam Kerr called someone white and stupid.
- 6:43Speaker 4: She didn't remotely threaten to kill anyone or claim that
- 6:47Speaker 4: she already had. And even worse, because this was quite
- 6:51Speaker 4: an extraordinary sixteen minute interview. In the interview, Gummel Kirr
- 6:56Speaker 4: claimed that politicians in the media were using this video
- 7:00Speaker 4: for political mileage, and he said that the media was
- 7:04Speaker 4: only focusing on anti Semitism.
- 7:08Speaker 7: The media scene and the politicians seemed to be concentrating
- 7:10Speaker 7: on one form of racism, which is abhorrent.
- 7:13Speaker 11: So can I just pick you up on that because
- 7:15Speaker 11: I haven't seen any Muslim childcare center's fire bomb, I
- 7:21Speaker 11: haven't seen any Israeli nurses.
- 7:24Speaker 7: And take you through the mosques and show you the
- 7:27Speaker 7: mosques that have been that have been targeted on the
- 7:29Speaker 7: life twelve months in the last twelve months.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It's extraordinary, isn't it. It's just not based in fact.
- 7:39Speaker 4: And Laura Jay's also played for gamel the infamous clip
- 7:43Speaker 4: of the Hate Preacher on October the eighth, saying how
- 7:47Speaker 4: elated he was this the day after Hermas had slaughtered babies, children,
- 7:53Speaker 4: entire families, and asked for his reaction, Gabelle couldn't even
- 7:58Speaker 4: come out and strongly condemn the Hate Preacher.
- 8:11Speaker 11: This was October eight, just after the October seven attacks
- 8:16Speaker 11: in Sydney.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Well, with all due respect, I wasn't caught on to
- 8:19Speaker 7: make a statement about that. That statement has now been
- 8:21Speaker 7: over three years old, and that's been that's already gone
- 8:25Speaker 7: through the whole process that we were talking about. This
- 8:27Speaker 7: is due process now. I would love if you are
- 8:29Speaker 7: going to use that video play it unedited.
- 8:35Speaker 4: That hate preacher saying how happy he is after oney
- 8:38Speaker 4: two hundred Jews were killed is one of the simplest
- 8:42Speaker 4: things in the world to condemn, and to be frank
- 8:45Speaker 4: that hate preacher's happiness is the most disgusting celebration of
- 8:48Speaker 4: slaughter that I've ever seen.
- 8:51Speaker 3: That hate preacher should.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Have been charged by police, yet of course he wasn't,
- 8:56Speaker 4: and now Islamic leaders can't even condemn those remarks. This
- 9:02Speaker 4: is a major problem in our Australian society and Gamal
- 9:07Speaker 4: unfortunately wasn't alone in his weak response to the nurses video.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Today, a pro.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Palestinian influencer conceded that the video showed, in her words,
- 9:17Speaker 4: a concerning and disturbing conversation, but then she went on
- 9:21Speaker 4: to say that it was entrapment with no evidence and
- 9:26Speaker 4: that she's seen far worse from the other side.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Have a look.
- 9:30Speaker 10: My message is to young people in particular, you are
- 9:34Speaker 10: being watched and nothing and nowhere is safe. There is
- 9:38Speaker 10: no such thing as a safe space. Do not trust
- 9:42Speaker 10: anyone on social media. Don't engage in conversations like this
- 9:46Speaker 10: seeking to especially entrap you will be ultimately used against
- 9:51Speaker 10: you and potentially used to completely, you know, impact.
- 9:58Speaker 2: On your future.
- 9:59Speaker 10: So we don't live in a situation where you can
- 10:03Speaker 10: freely have a conversation whether you mean things or don't
- 10:05Speaker 10: mean things. If you are Palestinian or pro Palestinian, if
- 10:09Speaker 10: you are an Arab, and especially if you are a Muslim,
- 10:11Speaker 10: God forbid you will you will be met with the
- 10:16Speaker 10: high end of the stick. So don't take the risk
- 10:19Speaker 10: and don't engage.
- 10:21Speaker 2: This is extreme gas lighting.
- 10:24Speaker 4: While Jewish Australians are now worried about going to hospitals
- 10:28Speaker 4: in some parts of Sydney, worried whether they will be
- 10:30Speaker 4: safe spaces, this influencer is worried about pro Palestinians being
- 10:35Speaker 4: caught out whether they have a safe space for racism.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Now we have to be very clear. The nurses are
- 10:45Speaker 4: not the victims here. They're not victims of a hostile media.
- 10:50Speaker 4: And again, if you need reminding, here's the aggressive death
- 10:54Speaker 4: threats that they made.
- 10:56Speaker 9: One then one day, your time will come and you
- 11:00Speaker 9: will die.
- 11:00Speaker 2: The most common they send to me, listen to.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Me and when you're when your.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Time comes, how are you doctors? I want you to
- 11:15Speaker 2: remember them.
- 11:15Speaker 8: I have okay, okay, you will have a question.
- 11:22Speaker 4: I have to say this reaction today from influencers and
- 11:26Speaker 4: Islamic leadership is part of the issue. We need Islamic
- 11:30Speaker 4: leaders to unequivocally send a message that anti Semitic conduct
- 11:34Speaker 4: is unacceptable.
- 11:36Speaker 3: They need to.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Strongly embrace all Australians and promote values that we all
- 11:42Speaker 4: hold dear of.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Tolerance and peace.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Then there was another organization that gave a weak response
- 11:48Speaker 4: today and that was the Pro Palestinian and I have
- 11:51Speaker 4: to say that because the name is misleading. Jewish Council
- 11:55Speaker 4: of Australia. Their spokeswoman, Sarah Schwartz, is often seen on
- 11:59Speaker 4: the ABC because she's their type of Jews.
- 12:02Speaker 2: She's critical of.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Israel and she was the one you'll recall behind the
- 12:06Speaker 4: offensive Dutton's jew slides the other week. And now look
- 12:11Speaker 4: at the statement that the Jewish Council made today about
- 12:13Speaker 4: this nurse's video. Now, they initially said yesterday that they
- 12:18Speaker 4: condemned the hatred in the strongest possible terms, but then
- 12:22Speaker 4: today they said we will await a full investigation of
- 12:26Speaker 4: this incident, including a review of the unedited footage, before
- 12:30Speaker 4: commenting further. I mean, really, is there any context in
- 12:35Speaker 4: which those comments from the nurses could be explained or condon't?
- 12:40Speaker 4: Of course there isn't, And yet police too still haven't
- 12:44Speaker 4: pressed charges, with Commissioner Karen Webb saying she was waiting
- 12:48Speaker 4: for critical evidence.
- 12:50Speaker 8: We really need to commit the influencer to paper and
- 12:55Speaker 8: if we are able to do that today, then we
- 12:57Speaker 8: can work through whether these people are.
- 13:02Speaker 4: If there are no charges pressed here, then there needs
- 13:05Speaker 4: to be a total overhaul of the police. The police
- 13:09Speaker 4: have let hate preachers off the hook. They've been weak
- 13:12Speaker 4: in the face of aggressive protesters. They've arrested Jews instead
- 13:16Speaker 4: of dealing with the threatening, angry mob. If there are
- 13:20Speaker 4: no charges here, this would have to be the final straw.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Surely Karen Webb would then have to resign.
- 13:28Speaker 8: Now.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Peter Darton, and he said this before, but he was
- 13:31Speaker 4: pretty clear in his view today that there has been
- 13:34Speaker 4: a lack of police enforcement on anti Semitism.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Well, again, I think it's an outrage and it just
- 13:42Speaker 5: doesn't have any place in our society. We shouldn't tolerate
- 13:46Speaker 5: hatred or people who advocate violence, and there are laws
- 13:51Speaker 5: which prohibit that from happening. It's a failure of the
- 13:54Speaker 5: system where the laws aren't enforced, and I think that
- 13:58Speaker 5: has been the case in New South Wales, in Victoria
- 14:02Speaker 5: and across the country. We've seen police be instructed just
- 14:06Speaker 5: to stand back at protests and allow these people to
- 14:10Speaker 5: preach similar words of hate, not just at mosques, but
- 14:14Speaker 5: also at the university campuses. And it's completely and utterly unacceptable.
- 14:22Speaker 4: And meanwhile, a minister in the Albanese government has blamed
- 14:26Speaker 4: Sky News at Night. She cause us Sky after Dark
- 14:29Speaker 4: for criticism that the government hasn't done enough on anti Semitism.
- 14:34Speaker 4: The person you're about to see is Anaka Well's the
- 14:37Speaker 4: Spot and Aged Care minister.
- 14:40Speaker 12: We are seeing people in these extremist factions feel very
- 14:44Speaker 12: emboldened by what's going on and the fact that the
- 14:47Speaker 12: Albanesi government hasn't been swift enough in condemning these things.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Lucy that Licien.
- 14:52Speaker 13: That is a gross mister presentation of the Prime Minister's
- 14:54Speaker 13: actions across a series of events designed to appeal to
- 14:58Speaker 13: Sky after Dark audience. Don't think that trying to stoke
- 15:01Speaker 13: this fight what helps anyone.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Doing this fight.
- 15:05Speaker 13: Stoking this fight is exactly how people do feel emboldened.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Sky after Dark audience, she said, that's all of you.
- 15:14Speaker 4: This is obviously both tone death and insulting. It's a
- 15:19Speaker 4: major failure to understand not just the Jewish community, but
- 15:23Speaker 4: all Australians who are fed up with the lack of
- 15:26Speaker 4: action on this issue. Sky after Dark, by the way,
- 15:30Speaker 4: isn't a criticism. I am so proud that our nighttime
- 15:34Speaker 4: hosts take the issue of antisemitism more seriously than anyone.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Else, and so do our viewers.
- 15:42Speaker 4: That's why we're having this summit next week. Anika Wells
- 15:46Speaker 4: was silly to mock us. The truth is Australians have
- 15:51Speaker 4: watched as senior Albanesi government ministers struggle to even utter
- 15:56Speaker 4: the word anti Semitism without mentioning is homophobia. The Prime
- 16:01Speaker 4: Minister played tennis while the Adash Synagogue smoldered, and he
- 16:07Speaker 4: has inexplicably refused to hold a judicial inquiry into universities.
- 16:13Speaker 4: It's all a reflection of how the Albanesi government, from
- 16:17Speaker 4: the Prime Minister down has never truly understood the depth
- 16:21Speaker 4: of the racism.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Crisis in Australia.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Albanezi is so wrapped up in his own bubble he's
- 16:27Speaker 4: failed repeatedly to meet the moment and adequately respond to
- 16:33Speaker 4: the racism now festering in our suburbs. Okay, I'm going
- 16:40Speaker 4: to come back to that a bit later with Sharon Stollier,
- 16:43Speaker 4: also with Claire Lehmann later in the show. But now
- 16:45Speaker 4: let's turn to some of the other major news of
- 16:47Speaker 4: the day with National Senator Matt Canavan and Perth Mayor
- 16:51Speaker 4: Basil Zemplers.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Welcome to you both.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Look, this is quite an outrageous cover up.
- 16:57Speaker 4: So just late this afternoon, Defense Minister Richards revealed to
- 17:01Speaker 4: my colleague here and Gilbert that a Chinese fighter jet
- 17:05Speaker 4: had released flares within thirty meters of an Australian military
- 17:08Speaker 4: aircraft as it carried out a routine patrol over the
- 17:12Speaker 4: South China Sea.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Now, Matt, this took place at one o'clock.
- 17:18Speaker 4: On Tuesday, but they didn't make it public until after
- 17:22Speaker 4: question time today. This is the last sitting day before
- 17:26Speaker 4: the federal election, so Matt Canavan, this is obviously a
- 17:30Speaker 4: deliberate tactic to avoid answering questions in Parliament.
- 17:35Speaker 14: Well, it looks that.
- 17:35Speaker 15: Why it doesn't, Shari, It's a bit hard to add
- 17:37Speaker 15: it up. Otherwise you would think something of this grave
- 17:40Speaker 15: nature would be announced by the Prime Minister while he
- 17:44Speaker 15: was here in Canberra. To me, it's just simply another
- 17:47Speaker 15: symptom of the weakness of this government. They seemed to
- 17:50Speaker 15: shy away from controversy rather than respond to it. Obviously,
- 17:54Speaker 15: an incident of this nature was extremely serious and concerning
- 17:57Speaker 15: for Australians. It would appear in the face of it
- 18:00Speaker 15: to be an outright active aggression from Chinese military forces.
- 18:06Speaker 15: But it needs a response from our leader and our
- 18:09Speaker 15: Prime Minister to show that we united in our response
- 18:13Speaker 15: and that we won't be intimidated. But instead, when things
- 18:17Speaker 15: like this seem to happen, the Prime Mister too often
- 18:20Speaker 15: runs and hides rather than confront the issue head on.
- 18:24Speaker 15: And I think his leadership, his style of leadership, the
- 18:27Speaker 15: lack of strength in his leadership, will be a major
- 18:29Speaker 15: issue with that election. Even though we're not going to
- 18:31Speaker 15: have that parliamentary scrutiny you said, his response on issues
- 18:35Speaker 15: like this will be under the microscope at the next
- 18:38Speaker 15: federal election.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's just further weakness.
- 18:42Speaker 4: I mean he's too weak in the face of China
- 18:45Speaker 4: basl and we know Albinizi has been closing up to
- 18:48Speaker 4: Chinese President Shijiping. This is just the latest hostile example
- 18:52Speaker 4: of China's ongoing pattern of aggressive behavior, and just like
- 18:56Speaker 4: last time, the PM didn't want questions on it.
- 19:00Speaker 16: I think the Australian public deserve to have some answers
- 19:02Speaker 16: around this, and ideally those answers come with Parliament being
- 19:07Speaker 16: fully able to challenge the Prime Minister and the Defense
- 19:10Speaker 16: Minister to get those answers. And the first thing members
- 19:13Speaker 16: of the general public are entitled to ask is well,
- 19:16Speaker 16: was our aircraft in their airspace or not? I mean
- 19:20Speaker 16: we should know that that's a fundamental If we were
- 19:22Speaker 16: in their airspace, why were we in their airspace? And
- 19:26Speaker 16: was the reaction from the Chinese military over the top
- 19:30Speaker 16: or fair enough in the circumstances. So without answering any questions,
- 19:35Speaker 16: and by delaying the announcement until after Parliament has risen,
- 19:39Speaker 16: then it only raises further questions in the minds of
- 19:43Speaker 16: everyday Australians and they deserve to have the respect and
- 19:48Speaker 16: courtesy of some answers around what's taken place here because
- 19:52Speaker 16: at the end of it all. If it becomes hostile,
- 19:55Speaker 16: we know who pays the price. So let us know,
- 19:58Speaker 16: Prime Minister, tell.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Us what happened, and also the ADF.
- 20:01Speaker 4: They would want to know the thousands of people who
- 20:03Speaker 4: serve in the ADF that the Prime Minister has their back.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Andrew Hasty released quite a good statement on this and
- 20:08Speaker 4: he said Richard Miles must explain why he's conveniently released
- 20:13Speaker 4: this information at the end of a parliamentary sitting week
- 20:16Speaker 4: despite knowing about the incident for days, avoiding serious questions about.
- 20:20Speaker 2: National security matters.
- 20:22Speaker 4: So this is going to be a big issue the
- 20:24Speaker 4: cover up in.
- 20:25Speaker 2: The coming days.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Now, let's have a look at Donald Trump and the
- 20:29Speaker 4: negotiations that he's about to have with Vladimir Putin to
- 20:33Speaker 4: try and, as he says, solve or end the Russia's
- 20:38Speaker 4: war on Ukraine. Putin and Trump are set to meet
- 20:41Speaker 4: in Saudi Arabia to discuss ending the war. This is
- 20:44Speaker 4: after his ninety minute phone call. Trump is also spoken
- 20:48Speaker 4: with Ukraine President Voladimir Zelenski.
- 20:51Speaker 3: There's also going to.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Be Secretary of the State meetings in Munich later this week. Matt,
- 20:56Speaker 4: do you have confidence that Trump will be able to
- 21:00Speaker 4: sought this out in a way that isn't simply appeasing Russia.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Well, look, I hope.
- 21:07Speaker 15: That's the outcome we've got. I don't know. I don't
- 21:09Speaker 15: trust anyone. I suppose in this game, Shari, we just
- 21:13Speaker 15: got to be judged on results. That should be the yardstick,
- 21:16Speaker 15: and obviously we don't have the results yet in from
- 21:19Speaker 15: these discussions. I think it's a positive thing that discussions
- 21:22Speaker 15: are occurring. I've called for that for years. I felt
- 21:25Speaker 15: that one of the most remarkable things about this conflict
- 21:27Speaker 15: is the complete absence of any conversations to try and
- 21:31Speaker 15: bring it to an end. Now, maybe maybe that that
- 21:37Speaker 15: possibility was not able to come to fruition in the
- 21:40Speaker 15: last few years, but at the very least we should
- 21:41Speaker 15: try for peace. I mean, hundreds of thousands of people
- 21:45Speaker 15: probably have died. It's terrible. It's a massively inhumane circumstance,
- 21:51Speaker 15: and the lack of any conversations, to me, was a
- 21:54Speaker 15: mist opportunity to try and avoid more people from dying.
- 21:56Speaker 15: So I fully support the new US president trying to
- 21:59Speaker 15: bring the conflict to an end, and look, he'll be
- 22:03Speaker 15: judged on the results he achieves, just like every other
- 22:05Speaker 15: world leader and politician.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Yeah, and let's see where he gets to and that. Look,
- 22:09Speaker 4: I want to show you this video now. Believe it
- 22:11Speaker 4: or not, these three women are among the most senior
- 22:15Speaker 4: ministers in the Albanezi government. Have a look, oh, Basil,
- 22:34Speaker 4: it's so embarrassing. I mean, how do these they just
- 22:39Speaker 4: don't seem serious when they behave like that, And aren't
- 22:42Speaker 4: they too busy to spend presumably at least half an
- 22:46Speaker 4: hour making some social media video.
- 22:50Speaker 16: Yeah, it's really an interesting part of modern politics and
- 22:54Speaker 16: certainly modern campaigning.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'll be honest.
- 22:56Speaker 16: It was very small on the screen and I hadn't
- 22:58Speaker 16: seen it before, so I couldn't see the other detail,
- 22:59Speaker 16: but I could see the sort of general carry on
- 23:02Speaker 16: that was taking place. So without commenting on the specifics. Look,
- 23:06Speaker 16: some people decide that we need to better engage with
- 23:09Speaker 16: the Australian public and this is a way of doing it.
- 23:12Speaker 16: But I think when there are so many serious issues
- 23:16Speaker 16: at play, by and large, the Australian population wants to
- 23:20Speaker 16: see their ministers, their senior members of Parliament, their Prime
- 23:24Speaker 16: minister and premiers around the state doing what their job is,
- 23:28Speaker 16: being serious, giving us answers, giving us a future direction.
- 23:31Speaker 16: And I'm not sure that was the right time or
- 23:34Speaker 16: the right place.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's just not a good look. And
- 23:37Speaker 4: I also don't know how they have time. They're meant
- 23:40Speaker 4: to be federal government ministers.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Surely they have more work to do than making social
- 23:46Speaker 4: media videos. Just very quickly before we go, Matt Canavan,
- 23:50Speaker 4: the Coalition is calling on the government, specifically Chris Bowen,
- 23:54Speaker 4: to rule out introducing carbon border tariffs.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Now, this would.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Be a tax on imports from countries who aren't doing
- 24:03Speaker 4: enough on climate change.
- 24:05Speaker 3: This is a story in the Australian.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Matt, is this a scare campaign from your team or
- 24:10Speaker 4: is this something that Chris Bowin is actually examining.
- 24:16Speaker 15: No, well he's put out He's put out a media
- 24:18Speaker 15: release on this about a year ago saying that this
- 24:21Speaker 15: was something the next step the government would be considering. Obviously,
- 24:24Speaker 15: if we put a carbon tax our own industry like
- 24:26Speaker 15: this government has done, the problem is that our people,
- 24:29Speaker 15: our businesses have higher costs and potentially a lot of
- 24:33Speaker 15: business in other countries that don't apply carbon tax do not.
- 24:36Speaker 15: And so the idea here is that, I mean, we
- 24:38Speaker 15: need a tariff to level the playing field to correct
- 24:42Speaker 15: for the tax that we've put into one tax, to
- 24:43Speaker 15: correct for the tax that the government's put on already.
- 24:45Speaker 15: Why don't we just get rid of all the taxes.
- 24:47Speaker 15: That seems to me to make more sense. And here
- 24:49Speaker 15: we've now got an inconsistency between the Energy minister and
- 24:52Speaker 15: the Treasurer. The Treasurer this week said that he would
- 24:54Speaker 15: not impose retaliatory tariffs on the United States and if
- 25:00Speaker 15: the US does not provide US an exemption. Yet at
- 25:03Speaker 15: the same time, Chris Bowen's there, he's back pocket saying
- 25:05Speaker 15: he would impose tariffs and they would obviously go on
- 25:08Speaker 15: the United States, given that a carbon tariff would go
- 25:11Speaker 15: in the United States, given that Donald Trump is pulled
- 25:13Speaker 15: out of the Paris Agreement.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Just crazy, all right, I mean it's you just every
- 25:18Speaker 4: idea that Chris Bowen has is more wacky than the last.
- 25:21Speaker 3: So wacky that you know.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Is all on social media like those other ministers. You
- 25:28Speaker 4: can find him on kiktok, which I'm sure you're not on.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Mapp being a critic of the CCP like I am.
- 25:33Speaker 2: No, I'm not right, Matt Canavan Basi Zamplist.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Great to see you both all right, let's return now
- 25:40Speaker 4: to that vile anti Semitic video of the two nurses
- 25:43Speaker 4: at Bankstown Hospital.
- 25:45Speaker 3: There are now concerns. We're all concerned about just how.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Widespread this sentiment is in the health system, and we
- 25:53Speaker 4: know that there's nurses for Palestine Instagram groups and others
- 25:57Speaker 4: like it. Well, Sydney midwife Sharon Stollier has been sounding
- 26:02Speaker 4: the alarm for more than a year about anti semitism
- 26:06Speaker 4: in hospitals and she's suffered personally and professionally for it,
- 26:11Speaker 4: and pleased to say, Sharon joins me now in studio
- 26:14Speaker 4: to share her story.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Sharon, good to see you in person.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Hi, Shari, thanks for having me now.
- 26:19Speaker 4: You spoke about this in a video that's gone absolutely
- 26:23Speaker 4: viral today.
- 26:24Speaker 2: But take us to the beginning.
- 26:26Speaker 4: So when did you realize there was an issue and
- 26:30Speaker 4: write to AFRA to complain about it.
- 26:33Speaker 8: I think the issue I noticed there was an issue
- 26:36Speaker 8: when I started getting a lot of private messages in
- 26:39Speaker 8: my Instagram from Jewish nurses, Jewish midwives, Jewish pregnant women
- 26:45Speaker 8: and you're not Jewish, but I'm not Jewish. No, But
- 26:50Speaker 8: at the time, in October twenty twenty three, I hadn't
- 26:54Speaker 8: noticed any other anyone in the maternity care space actively
- 26:59Speaker 8: or speaking out against anti Semitism in healthcare. I was
- 27:03Speaker 8: specifically talking about maternity care because that is my space,
- 27:06Speaker 8: but I noticed it quite early on.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And you wrote to Apra to complain about it.
- 27:14Speaker 8: I've written to Oprah a few times, but it's not
- 27:18Speaker 8: just me. There's been many Jewish healthcare workers, doctors, nurses,
- 27:21Speaker 8: midwives who've been working quite hard behind the scenes trying
- 27:25Speaker 8: to get Opera to adopt the IRA definition of anti Semitism,
- 27:30Speaker 8: trying to get that incorporated into the code of conduct.
- 27:34Speaker 8: They've had several meetings with Opera Hatred ple c and
- 27:39Speaker 8: they've been trying, but it really doesn't seem to have
- 27:42Speaker 8: gotten anywhere.
- 27:43Speaker 4: So you were also writing about the fact that there
- 27:45Speaker 4: were nurses and midwives in their new southe was health
- 27:49Speaker 4: uniforms chanting hateful slogans. Yes, yet you found yourself under investigation.
- 27:56Speaker 2: What happened?
- 27:57Speaker 8: So because I was so outspoken about that, and because
- 28:03Speaker 8: I made some posts saying actually, this breach is a
- 28:06Speaker 8: code of conduct in my opinion, because I believe that
- 28:09Speaker 8: Chant is a genocidal chant, Apra started receiving a lot
- 28:15Speaker 8: of complaints about me which were forwarded onto the Hatred
- 28:19Speaker 8: le C because they deal with New South Wales registered practitioners,
- 28:24Speaker 8: and I received complaint after complaint after complaint. Initially they
- 28:29Speaker 8: were all dismissed. However, I didn't know that two complainants,
- 28:34Speaker 8: some of them were anonymous complainants as well, asked for
- 28:37Speaker 8: a review of that decision, and then that went on
- 28:40Speaker 8: to receive four more corrective comments on my registration without
- 28:46Speaker 8: me even knowing, without me getting a chance to reply
- 28:48Speaker 8: to any of these complaints.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it was quite horrific.
- 28:53Speaker 3: So you had the courage.
- 28:54Speaker 4: You're not Jewish, you had the courage to stand up
- 28:57Speaker 4: on behalf of the Jewish nurses and midwives who are
- 29:02Speaker 4: your colleagues, who were dealing, who were hurting by the
- 29:05Speaker 4: fact that there was this strong pro Palestinian, anti Israel, genocidal.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Hateful chance.
- 29:11Speaker 4: You had the courage to stand up to it, to
- 29:13Speaker 4: write letters, to speak out about it on social media,
- 29:16Speaker 4: and you ended up having this mark against your record.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just terrible.
- 29:22Speaker 4: And you were also without mentioning any names, because this
- 29:26Speaker 4: is how we first connected a long time ago. You
- 29:28Speaker 4: were also doxed and harassed on social media by pro
- 29:32Speaker 4: Palestinian activists.
- 29:33Speaker 8: Yes, that's right, and that led to an even bigger
- 29:37Speaker 8: campaign to complain about me to our proh H wills
- 29:43Speaker 8: all over the place. It was quite a mess to
- 29:46Speaker 8: deal with for me. But I think we've just seen
- 29:50Speaker 8: the tip of the iceberg here because people have seen
- 29:54Speaker 8: what's happened as a result of speaking out. So Jewish
- 29:57Speaker 8: healthcare workers, Jewish pregnant women are of.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Great to speak out.
- 30:02Speaker 8: I just I have a lot of messages, private messages,
- 30:05Speaker 8: and have collected them since October seventh, twenty three.
- 30:09Speaker 4: So how widespread is this sentiment, this anti semitism in
- 30:13Speaker 4: the New South Wales health system?
- 30:15Speaker 3: You know?
- 30:15Speaker 2: The Premier today said it was just an aberration. Do
- 30:17Speaker 2: you agree with that?
- 30:18Speaker 8: No? I think this is this is just it goes
- 30:21Speaker 8: far deeper than This is a cancer in our healthcare system.
- 30:24Speaker 8: This is not just something that's popped up. This is
- 30:27Speaker 8: something that has been allowed to fester and brew and
- 30:31Speaker 8: come out unrestrained because there has been no leadership from
- 30:35Speaker 8: upper management regulatory bodies in healthcare. And I definitely think
- 30:42Speaker 8: if nothing's done now, it is only going to get worse.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Well, I think we need to pass these concerns onto
- 30:49Speaker 4: Ryan Park, the Health Minister, tell him what's happened.
- 30:51Speaker 2: To you, because this is really an appalling case.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Sharon Stolia, You've been so courageous over the past sixteen
- 30:57Speaker 4: months and thank you very much for joining us.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Thanks having a.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Show, Welcome back well.
- 31:04Speaker 4: The artists chosen to represent Australia at the prestigious Venice
- 31:08Speaker 4: Bienali exhibition is a Muslim artist called Karleb Subsavi. But
- 31:14Speaker 4: his works include a video installation of Hezbalat terrorist leader
- 31:18Speaker 4: Hassan Nazraala, who as you know, was killed last year now.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Also another work includes art promoting Sama bin Laden and
- 31:28Speaker 4: a series of it's a video of the nine to
- 31:30Speaker 4: eleven terror attacks of aircraft hitting the twin towers.
- 31:34Speaker 2: It's a bit of a mash up of that video,
- 31:36Speaker 2: but the title is thank you very Much.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yet he was selected to represent Australia at the sixty
- 31:43Speaker 4: first international Art exhibition LARABIONALI. This is a prestigious art exhibition.
- 31:50Speaker 4: That's a screenshot you can see there from his video
- 31:52Speaker 4: installation called thank you very Much of the nine to
- 31:55Speaker 4: eleven attacks. I mean, this is absolutely disgusting. It's such
- 32:00Speaker 4: a prestigious role to represent Australia. How can he have
- 32:03Speaker 4: been chosen. We put questions to Arts Minister Tony Burke.
- 32:07Speaker 2: About this today.
- 32:08Speaker 4: He was clearly embarrassed, but yet he still didn't say
- 32:11Speaker 4: that karl Ed won't be going to Italy. This is
- 32:14Speaker 4: what he told us and I quote, I was not
- 32:16Speaker 4: involved in the decision. I was shocked to see some
- 32:19Speaker 4: of the works which are online this afternoon. I understand
- 32:22Speaker 4: the Creative Australia Board is meeting tomorrow, so perhaps they'll
- 32:27Speaker 4: reverse the decision tomorrow. We wait and see, all right.
- 32:30Speaker 4: The Australian's chief political correspondent, Jeff Chambers joins us. Now, Jeff,
- 32:35Speaker 4: there have been problems with Creative Australia before, but this
- 32:39Speaker 4: is another reflection on shocking judgment from Tony Burke and
- 32:43Speaker 4: the Albanese government and their agencies.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Shari, simple vetting. It's not that hard, particularly in
- 32:52Speaker 1: this hot environment around anti Semitism. You have to remember
- 32:56Speaker 1: Tony Burke is also the Minister for High Affairs, which
- 33:00Speaker 1: leads policy around social cohesion. He's been the Arts Minister
- 33:04Speaker 1: since the twenty twenty two election. We see this in
- 33:08Speaker 1: the arts and in the university higher education sector. There's
- 33:12Speaker 1: a lot of wakism. It's dominated by people of the
- 33:16Speaker 1: more extreme left compared to the mainstream. And what we've
- 33:20Speaker 1: seen in the United States with Donald Trump's war on
- 33:23Speaker 1: wakism and how he's gone into some of these arts
- 33:26Speaker 1: and cultural organizations and taken over things like the Kennedy Center.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if Peter dunn't were to win
- 33:35Speaker 1: the election. The work that he's doing with just Enter
- 33:38Speaker 1: Price would be a real, real close look at some
- 33:42Speaker 1: of these grants. I mean there's grants going out everywhere.
- 33:46Speaker 1: What kind of vetting's being done, and who's sitting on
- 33:48Speaker 1: the boards of these organizations. There has to be some
- 33:51Speaker 1: accountability outside of Sorry, we didn't know about this. We'll
- 33:56Speaker 1: check it out. We'll have another meeting to discuss it.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Yeah, we absolutely need the Elon Musk style and hopefully
- 34:02Speaker 4: just Enterprice will do it, as you say, to really
- 34:05Speaker 4: just go through a lot of this bureaucracy. Now, Jeff,
- 34:09Speaker 4: you you wrote an excellent article today, but you are
- 34:13Speaker 4: saying that even if there's a rate cut at the
- 34:15Speaker 4: February eighteen RBA board meeting, this might not deliver the
- 34:20Speaker 4: Prime Minister the boost that he's been hoping for. Do
- 34:22Speaker 4: you think the perception about Albanize he has cemented really
- 34:26Speaker 4: with a large part of Australians.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah. So I did some analysis recently, Shari, looking back
- 34:34Speaker 1: at all rate cuts and rate hikes twelve months out
- 34:38Speaker 1: from an election or in an election campaign, and this
- 34:41Speaker 1: goes back to the nineteen ninety election, and what I
- 34:43Speaker 1: found is that generally even interest rate hikes, all cuts
- 34:47Speaker 1: in an election campaign has had very minimal impact on
- 34:51Speaker 1: the final result. Remember at the twenty two election, Scott
- 34:55Speaker 1: Morrison and Josh Freidenberg copped that rate hike in the campaign,
- 34:58Speaker 1: but it was according to the polls, it was looking
- 35:01Speaker 1: like the Morrison government wouldn't survive that election. So I
- 35:06Speaker 1: think what the other issue here is that people are
- 35:09Speaker 1: just under so much stress and pressure that one rate
- 35:13Speaker 1: cut from a twelve year high four point three five percent,
- 35:17Speaker 1: even if it's February, if it's April, that's getting really
- 35:20Speaker 1: far too late. Once it actually flows through, the impacts
- 35:24Speaker 1: for Australians really won't be felt for some months. So
- 35:28Speaker 1: I know that the Labor MPs and that the government
- 35:32Speaker 1: have all got their fingers crossed, their toes crossed, for
- 35:35Speaker 1: a rate cut, and I'm sure households and businesses also
- 35:38Speaker 1: are hoping for some relief, but in terms of the
- 35:42Speaker 1: top tier issues, that interest rate cut is likely going
- 35:46Speaker 1: to be minimal.
- 35:48Speaker 4: I just want to ask you about the election timing.
- 35:50Speaker 4: You're in Canberra, of course, and it's the last day
- 35:53Speaker 4: of the parliamentary sitting fortnite. I understand the Prime Minister
- 35:57Speaker 4: did the rounds in the press gallery the safternoon. There
- 36:00Speaker 4: was a lot of frenzied speculation in the building that
- 36:03Speaker 4: he could call the election this weekend, but of course
- 36:06Speaker 4: we all think it's more likely that he'll call it
- 36:09Speaker 4: after the WA state election, so after March the eighth,
- 36:13Speaker 4: and then he'd be heading to the polls April twelve.
- 36:16Speaker 1: What's your sense, Look, I think the election will be
- 36:22Speaker 1: in that early April zone. Obviously it should. It would
- 36:25Speaker 1: have to be in early April, because we've got Easter
- 36:29Speaker 1: and we've got Enzac Day. I think passovers in there
- 36:32Speaker 1: as well. So I think a lot of it hinges
- 36:37Speaker 1: on the rate cut decision next week and then polling,
- 36:41Speaker 1: so they'll be looking at various polls and data that's
- 36:44Speaker 1: going to be coming out. It did have a real
- 36:47Speaker 1: feel today that it was the last day of school.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I know that some Labor MPs have got boxes to
- 36:53Speaker 1: pack up, and Graham Perrot and Brian Mitchell, who were
- 36:57Speaker 1: departing Labor mpce had little shout outs in question time today.
- 37:02Speaker 1: So I think from the government's perspective, from the Prime
- 37:05Speaker 1: Minister's perspective, he's going to end up having a minority government,
- 37:09Speaker 1: but he's desperate to win and really I think timing
- 37:14Speaker 1: could play a really crucial role in that result.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I look, I just maybe I'm just surrounded by
- 37:21Speaker 4: people who really dislike the Prime minister, but I'm just
- 37:24Speaker 4: finding it harder to see that he'll be voted back in.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I understand the argument that Peter Dutton has too much
- 37:30Speaker 4: ground to make up, not to mention winning back seats
- 37:32Speaker 4: from the deals, but I just don't see who votes
- 37:35Speaker 4: for Albanezi. Given Labour's primary at the last election was
- 37:40Speaker 4: thirty two percent, it was in a historic load.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Then he's only lost the pot since then. What do
- 37:45Speaker 2: you think?
- 37:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so if you look at the historic nature of
- 37:49Speaker 1: things and I both leaders have nineteen thirty one, it
- 37:53Speaker 1: was the height of the Great Depression. That was the
- 37:55Speaker 1: last time that a first term government was turfed and
- 37:59Speaker 1: they lost in a land slide, and that was a
- 38:01Speaker 1: labor government, the skull and government. I think that people
- 38:05Speaker 1: are generally looking at the history and looking at the
- 38:09Speaker 1: mountain that Peter Dutton has to climb. I think it's
- 38:13Speaker 1: going to be a very interesting result. Obviously, there might
- 38:16Speaker 1: be some movement away from the major parties and that's
- 38:20Speaker 1: where the Independence and other minor parties will play a role.
- 38:24Speaker 1: So I don't think that either of them will get
- 38:26Speaker 1: there in a majority sense. But there's going to be
- 38:28Speaker 1: massive swings against the government and Peter Dutton is going
- 38:32Speaker 1: to have to run a really great campaign, get the
- 38:36Speaker 1: coalition messaging out and crucially execute in those strategic seats
- 38:41Speaker 1: where they have to win and hold those seats that
- 38:45Speaker 1: there are some coalition seats that are vulnerable, so he
- 38:47Speaker 1: needs to hold what he's got and then win as
- 38:50Speaker 1: many as he can.
- 38:52Speaker 2: All right, Jeff Chambers, great to have you on, Thank
- 38:55Speaker 2: you so much.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Now still to come in when now the twops reported
- 38:59Speaker 4: ten thousand dollars court wardrobe plus Peter Dutton calls for
- 39:02Speaker 4: a debate on stripping citizenship from those who don't share
- 39:06Speaker 4: our values.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Claire Lehman would.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Join me after this quick break.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Welcome back with The Australian is tonight reporting that health
- 39:17Speaker 4: authorities are troiling through thousands of patient records to make
- 39:22Speaker 4: sure that those two nurses haven't inflicted.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Any harm on past patients.
- 39:27Speaker 4: It's extraordinary that this needs to be done. To discuss this,
- 39:31Speaker 4: let's bring in now Lehmann, commentator or columnist for The
- 39:35Speaker 4: Australian and founder of Quillette.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Great to see you.
- 39:37Speaker 17: Thanks for having me, Sharry.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Now you wrote about this issue today. You know, how
- 39:43Speaker 4: is it that we're in a situation where authorities are
- 39:46Speaker 4: having to check the history of patients to make sure
- 39:50Speaker 4: nurses haven't harmed or killed anyone in Australia.
- 39:54Speaker 17: Yeah, it's outrageous, Sharry.
- 39:55Speaker 9: And what I said in my piece is that this
- 39:58Speaker 9: actually represents a fundamental sh This is like a tear in.
- 40:02Speaker 17: Our social fabric.
- 40:03Speaker 9: We're a high trust nation, you know, when we go
- 40:08Speaker 9: to the hospital, we never have to think about the
- 40:09Speaker 9: political beliefs, the ethnicity, the religion of the people who.
- 40:13Speaker 17: Are caring for us.
- 40:15Speaker 9: And this is the first time that I'm aware of
- 40:17Speaker 9: that this has happened where healthcare workers have come out
- 40:20Speaker 9: and said that they will not treat people according to
- 40:23Speaker 9: their nationality and they'll actually harm people.
- 40:26Speaker 17: And murder people because of their nationality.
- 40:28Speaker 9: And this I think is going to damage the social
- 40:32Speaker 9: fabric of Australia. You can already see it in the
- 40:35Speaker 9: faces of the Health Secretary who was close to tears.
- 40:38Speaker 17: You can see it in.
- 40:39Speaker 9: The anger of the new South Wales Health Minister.
- 40:43Speaker 17: And to his credit, he's come out and with a
- 40:46Speaker 17: forceful response.
- 40:47Speaker 9: But I think we really had a lack of leadership
- 40:51Speaker 9: at the federal level, in particular, in particularly the Prime Minister.
- 40:56Speaker 9: And I think part of the problem is that they
- 40:59Speaker 9: cannot name this form of antisemitism. It's not Neo Nazi antisemitists,
- 41:05Speaker 9: it's Islamists antisemitism.
- 41:07Speaker 2: They can't call it out.
- 41:09Speaker 9: They can't name it because they rely on votes in
- 41:14Speaker 9: certain marginal seats in Western Sydney and they're afraid of
- 41:17Speaker 9: alienating or rocking the boat with these marginal seats.
- 41:22Speaker 17: And that's a problem, and that.
- 41:23Speaker 9: Failure of leadership has allowed this problem to grow beyond
- 41:27Speaker 9: what it.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Should have.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Because the perpetrators of it feel like it's tolerated.
- 41:35Speaker 2: No one is telling them to stop.
- 41:36Speaker 4: Everyone's telling the neo Nazis to stop saying, yeah, that
- 41:40Speaker 4: Islamic extremism is a problem, exactly.
- 41:43Speaker 9: And these two individuals, they weren't wearing masks. They were
- 41:48Speaker 9: happy to blatantly say they would kill people according to
- 41:53Speaker 9: their nationality to a complete stranger on the internet, Now,
- 41:57Speaker 9: what kind of environment do you have to live in
- 42:00Speaker 9: we're calling for people's murder or expressing that you individually
- 42:03Speaker 9: would just kill someone or murder someone. What kind of
- 42:06Speaker 9: environment are these people living in where that's okay and
- 42:09Speaker 9: that's tolerated.
- 42:10Speaker 17: I mean, I don't know. I don't have any friends
- 42:12Speaker 17: who would say that ever.
- 42:13Speaker 2: And if they did, they wouldn't be your friends exactly.
- 42:16Speaker 9: But it's not normal, except it's festering in some parts
- 42:21Speaker 9: of our community exactly.
- 42:22Speaker 4: And Sky News reporter Crystal Wu went to Bankstown today
- 42:27Speaker 4: and it didn't take long for her to find others
- 42:31Speaker 4: who supported those nurses. Likewise, they were happy to be
- 42:34Speaker 4: filmed to go on camera to say that what those
- 42:38Speaker 4: nurses said was fine because all Israelis are killing people.
- 42:42Speaker 2: It's earth shattering that this is how we're living.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Premier Chrismins did come out today and he tried to
- 42:50Speaker 4: reassure the whole community, that everyone will be looked after.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Here's what he had to say. We don't have it.
- 42:56Speaker 4: That's all right, those comments from Chrismans, but again the
- 42:59Speaker 4: fact that he has to come out because we do
- 43:02Speaker 4: have it.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Let's have a look at those remarks.
- 43:05Speaker 14: We need to send a clear and unambiguous message that
- 43:08Speaker 14: if you go to an emergency department, if you're on
- 43:10Speaker 14: a ward anywhere in New South Wales, you'll be treated
- 43:13Speaker 14: by people who have a highly trained, who are highly skilled,
- 43:16Speaker 14: but care about you. And I can understand right now
- 43:20Speaker 14: members of the Jewish community, and even those that are
- 43:22Speaker 14: members of the Jewish community, would be uphalled at.
- 43:25Speaker 5: This latest revelation.
- 43:27Speaker 14: We just can't stand for it.
- 43:30Speaker 4: And the reality is, Claire, there will be people who
- 43:34Speaker 4: are Jewish who will feel nervous going under general anesthetic.
- 43:38Speaker 9: Now, absolutely, but you know it's not just I know
- 43:42Speaker 9: this affects the Jewish community more than anyone else, but
- 43:45Speaker 9: it's not just the Jewish community. And this ideology, this
- 43:48Speaker 9: violent ideology of Islamism, doesn't stop at the hatred of Jews.
- 43:54Speaker 9: It expands beyond that. We know that because it's the
- 43:58Speaker 9: ideology of Hummus, it's the ideolology of al Kayata is
- 44:01Speaker 9: the ideology of Hesbela and their.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Tamber eleven of the Barley bombings exactly.
- 44:06Speaker 9: And to be honest, other Muslims are also targeted Muslims
- 44:10Speaker 9: that aren't hardline enough. So it's a political ideology, it's
- 44:15Speaker 9: not a religion. And so we need politicians who can
- 44:18Speaker 9: take a stand and separate the two and say we
- 44:21Speaker 9: do not want this political ideology in our country.
- 44:23Speaker 17: It needs to be stamped out.
- 44:25Speaker 9: Leaders particular leaders need to take a firmer position and
- 44:31Speaker 9: basically have zero tolerance for it.
- 44:34Speaker 4: And yet we saw tonight that Tony Burke's agency Creative
- 44:38Speaker 4: Australia has chosen an artist to represent Australia overseas. One
- 44:44Speaker 4: of his works is of Nasralla, the former terrorist leader,
- 44:47Speaker 4: the HESLA leader celebrating September eleven attacks.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I mean the right is right throughout our bureaucracy. Yeah,
- 44:55Speaker 2: and this is just help.
- 44:56Speaker 9: And this is one of the things that October seventh
- 44:59Speaker 9: have as sort of exposed in our society is this
- 45:05Speaker 9: weird relationship between the hard left and the Islamists. You
- 45:09Speaker 9: would think that they wouldn't have anything to do with
- 45:11Speaker 9: each other.
- 45:11Speaker 2: But they use are so different.
- 45:13Speaker 17: They dove tail when it comes to hatred of Israel.
- 45:17Speaker 9: And that's the scary thing when you get this violent
- 45:19Speaker 9: ideology being excused or even promoted by people who should
- 45:24Speaker 9: know better.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Yeah, just very quickly before you go, Antoinette. Sky News
- 45:30Speaker 4: report that Antoinette Latouffe has been turning up for her
- 45:33Speaker 4: ABC unfair dismissal case.
- 45:35Speaker 2: In outfits that have been making the headlines.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Let's have a look at the article Her wardrobe is
- 45:40Speaker 4: worth Claire. Yeah, and the Sky News article details all
- 45:45Speaker 4: of the outfits and the hammbags there. You know, this
- 45:49Speaker 4: has been a case again where ABC chose diversity. It's
- 45:54Speaker 4: come out in court that she was a diversity higher
- 45:56Speaker 4: that's been the evidence in court. And she was an activist,
- 46:00Speaker 4: so not an impartial journalist which is in their charter.
- 46:04Speaker 2: This is what's brought the problems on.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:06Speaker 9: I mean the ABC have really harmed themselves in this
- 46:10Speaker 9: particular case. And it was clear that she was using
- 46:13Speaker 9: her job at the ABC as a vehicle for self promotion,
- 46:18Speaker 9: just as she's using the court case as a vehicle
- 46:21Speaker 9: for self promotion. She knows she's going to be on camera,
- 46:23Speaker 9: so she's investing in these glamorous outfits. And you know,
- 46:26Speaker 9: I wouldn't hold that against anyone, except she's crowdfunding for
- 46:31Speaker 9: her legal fees.
- 46:32Speaker 17: So I mean, she's got.
- 46:33Speaker 9: Every right to, you know, take matters into her own
- 46:36Speaker 9: hands and go through the court system if she wants.
- 46:39Speaker 17: But she's raising money from.
- 46:41Speaker 9: People who have bills to pay and you know, who
- 46:44Speaker 9: have other responsibilities, and I just think that's a little
- 46:48Speaker 9: bit it's a little bit cynical.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, all right, thank you so much. Great to
- 46:54Speaker 2: have you on the show. As always, Claire really appreciate.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Thank you, Sherry, And don't you all love Claire's columns
- 46:59Speaker 4: in the AUSTRAI all right, still to come. I bring
- 47:01Speaker 4: you some of your ideas on how to fix antisemitism
- 47:05Speaker 4: ahead of our summit that's next. Well ahead of our
- 47:11Speaker 4: antisemitism summit. I asked you for your ideas to fix
- 47:15Speaker 4: this crisis because well, our political leaders are not doing
- 47:18Speaker 4: a good job.
- 47:19Speaker 3: We've had nearly six hundred emails.
- 47:22Speaker 4: So far, all with brilliant suggestions on how to address
- 47:26Speaker 4: this crisis. Many of you say this begins with education
- 47:29Speaker 4: in schools. This email reflects many It is crucial that
- 47:33Speaker 4: the Holocaust is included in the educational curriculum from primary
- 47:37Speaker 4: through to secondary school.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Another idea that's come through.
- 47:41Speaker 4: Is a way to report this or incidents for immediate investigation,
- 47:45Speaker 4: because so many incidents are happening and no one is
- 47:48Speaker 4: held to account. Another idea is that there should be
- 47:52Speaker 4: a national day to call out antisemitism. Gina wants the
- 47:56Speaker 4: Opera House to be lit up every October seven in
- 47:59Speaker 4: celebration of the Jewish community.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Hundreds of emails, Keep them coming.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Summit at sky news dot com dot AU, Summit at
- 48:08Speaker 4: sky news dot com dot A U. I'll see you
- 48:10Speaker 4: Monday at eight o'clock. Here's James Morrow.
