- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Welcome to episode four of Let's Stay Together, brought to you by Y1 Hockey.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: You both okay?
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, getting the last pieces of pizza out of my teeth.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: We've just had to sit for 10 minutes and uh watch you eat pizza because it's deliver or whatever.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Took too long.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: The life of a professional athlete, yeah, you know you know what, Phil?
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: Uh I I am a very professional art athlete last year.
- 0:48SPEAKER_03: Like I've really been really good on food and shit and everything, and blah de blah de blah.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: But I was really craving pizza tonight, and and I thought I was having dinner at the club, wasn't having dinner at the club.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: Very long, very boring story short.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: I ordered pizza and I enjoyed it.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: How are you both?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Well, before we start, what's your pizza?
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: What's your go-to pizza?
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, today I chose I I made a kind of mistake which will probably come and haunt me.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: I ordered a uh uh a kebab pizza.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: A what yeah, it's pizza and it has like shawama or kebab on it with garlic sauce, and it was kind of good for like four pieces and then it got shit.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: I don't think that would ever cross my mind.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: I did not expect that, right?
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Okay, but kebab pizza.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: I reckon that's getting a 90% thumbs down from everyone.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I guess.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: You guys, you you you you probably the biscuits on your pizza, right?
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: Or tea.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Speaking, uh just if we're abusing you, uh like can we just crack on before we start properly?
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Is that I can't say his name right, but Dirk My Meyer Dirk Meyer?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he sent us a reel on Instagram with no context, it was just uh a reel of the best exercises for gingers.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Um, and it was a guy in the gym doing a sort of like carry the orange gold, and it was him with a sack on his back.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: It it was uh no context, but I'm sure me and Brendan.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Well, I really enjoyed it.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Brendan, well, you know what?
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: Um, he I know Derek is an avid listener of the podcast, and he's a really funny guy.
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: He is a goalie though, so that gives him some like points uh deducted.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: Uh no, but he he is a really funny guy, and I he's an avid listener of the podcast.
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: Uh, he's not an in-the-closet listener, he's really out as a listener.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, but he just really wants uh to get uh acknowledged, I think, on this podcast.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Uh so Derek, here you go.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: You're a fucking knob for sending it to them because I didn't know he sent it to me as well, and he thought it was really funny.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: And I said to him that he really needs to uh broaden his palette of jokes because he only makes jokes about my color of hair, uh um which is not even really dead dead ginger.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: So Derek, uh, you're a goalie, fuck you.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: Let's move on.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Perfect.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Um, like we say, uh the we are brought to you by Y Wan.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Um, have you seen guys?
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: The the post they've been putting out recently are pretty cool.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: They also, if anyone's seen this, got onto the Paris pitch.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Um, and we we actually haven't talked about this at all, but like it's it's 90 days or something like that to go to the Olympics.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Um, it looks seriously cool.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Have you guys seen that?
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it looks pretty nice.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I haven't really seen much of it to be honest with you.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, to be honest, Phil, I also haven't seen that.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: I've seen one Instagram post from uh Florent van Albou.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: Um, and that's about it.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: I spoke to um Clapez, a Spanish teammate of mine, and he went there this week, and he said the pitch was really good and that the stance looked really good, and that the village looked really good from outside of the gates.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, yeah.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: His to be honest, his English doesn't go a lot further than very good.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: So I'm not really sure how good it really was.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: But is that you talking to him in the only four Spanish words you know?
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we have really we have really deep conversations together.
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: He's a legend, he's a legend, though.
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: He's he's really really funny.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: He's like one of those guys who's really really funny without trying to be really really funny.
- 4:35SPEAKER_03: Like sometimes I try to be really, really funny, and I'm completely not.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: He never tries to be funny, but he always is.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: I love them guys.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Well, Kleppes, you're a good guy, and we like your insight.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Right over the awkwardness of of of us tentatively talking about the Olympics.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Let's probably move it on.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Um, Brendan, you can uncross your arms now.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: It's all good.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: You're not normally you ask us how our week's been, and you haven't asked us.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Oh sorry, sorry, getting told off.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Brendan, how was your week?
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Car got stolen.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I've been a hard week of training and my car got robbed.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Uh that's me.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: That's me.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: That's where I'm at.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Who wants a voxel coursa?
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Who steals a voxel courser?
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Shambles.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: What has the country got to?
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Shambles.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: You pass your week.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've never really heard someone actually got their car stolen.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: I didn't know it still happens.
- 5:36SPEAKER_05: It's really funny.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: There's no evidence, mate.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: There's no evidence, no broken window, no nothing.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Just gone, vanished.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: I didn't know there's a broken window, Bren.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: You don't know because your car is stolen.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: No, it's in there was no like smash glass on the floor where it was originally.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: Maybe all the glass went inside of the car.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You you'll have genuinely you'll have laughed at this.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: I walked out of the house, ready to go to training, reached my arm out with the keys, pressed the button, and then realized there was no car.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: It took me that long.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: Didn't isn't are you sure you parked your car where you parked it?
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Because you seem like the city.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, imagine imagine he gets the police involved for like a three-day search, and it's just round the corner and he forgot he parked it there.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: Well, I what I want to know is, yeah, I I think you you hit the nail on the head.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Who's stealing a Vauxhall Corsa?
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: I know that it's got a heated steering wheel and uh heated seats.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Heated seats.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: It's what you think.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Still don't think bobbing.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: No, probably not.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Well, are you insured?
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: Oh what are you whining?
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: You get a lot of money, you can buy a new car.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: I won't get a lot of money.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: It's a Vauxhall Corsa youp.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Well, you can buy another shitty car.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: What are you gonna buy, Brenn?
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: I reckon, I reckon you're like a fiat panda cut kind of guy.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're the kind of guy who will buy like the the the one from in between us from Simon.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Ah, the Fiat Cinquacento, lovely Hawaii edition, fantastic.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Have you started shopping for cars yet?
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Uh no, because I don't know what money I'm playing with at the moment.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: So I'm very much just gonna wait for that to come out and then we'll go from there.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: But yeah, not a great week so far.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: You do you want uh do you want me to ask you how how are you?
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: How was your result on the weekend?
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: Um good.
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: We won 3-2 against Gazette.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: It wasn't the best game, but we we actually won back in winning mood.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: If we win against Cavalier this weekend, we have playoffs.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: Life is good again.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: Beautiful, beautiful.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Phil, how was your weekend last week?
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Phil, how was your week?
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: Because a lot happened, right?
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: In the rope household.
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I guess it did it, did it?
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you came for brunch.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Went round to Brendan's uh for brunch, it was lovely.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Now, um what has gone on in my in my household?
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: My my little boy started my little boy started nursery.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: It's quite exciting.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, buddy.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Indy gets terribly excited about our logo and she points out the fact that it's Brendan, Phil Daddy, and Yupe, and she calls him soup most of the time.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: Um, probably the the the news you're looking for me to say is that I've officially joined old Georgians.
- 8:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you pulled a Kevin Durant transfer.
- 8:32SPEAKER_05: You went to old Georgians.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I this has been coming.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: I got a lot of anger off these two because it got announced like maybe five minutes after um we recorded the podcast last week.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: I didn't know it was being announced.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: I found out by Brendan messaging me abusively, so that was fun.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: Um, and and I'm not gonna lie, it's probably been a fairly heavy week of abuse.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Uh, not sure it's completely warranted, but definitely somewhat warranted.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: Um rightfully so.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean it's just right right off the bat, people have been saying, you know, like I've been saying shit about OGs for years on the podcast.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Have I have I been doing that?
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: It it got a bit awkward the amount of times you mentioned how much you love OGs.
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: No, I don't I don't know.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: We we we speak about a lot of English clubs and they all sound kind of the same to me because I don't really know any of them besides Holcomb and Serbiton and all your jeans, because yeah, you play you played at Holcomb, Brendan played at Serviton, and you always talked about OGs, so that's why I know those three.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: But uh yeah, I was kind of surprised more more that I wasn't involved in your decision making, that you didn't really call me about uh that you were in doubt to join uh OGs, and like I was more like that that was that bothered me more than the fact that I didn't get told in advance that you were going, to be honest.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Well, I I would say that you're just just outside my inner circle when I go to make these big decisions.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: So, but next time I will 100% be in touch.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Is that is that is that okay?
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, onto the onto the serious stuff, which we actually can talk about, I'm sure.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna ask any of you to be interviewed.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Brendan, do you want to be an interviewer?
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: No, just tell us the reasons why you've gone.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: That's the easiest way to do it.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: The actual reasons, not your statement that you put out, like your actual reasons.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, it's it's fairly simple for me.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: I live in Maidenhead.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Um, I've been traveling uh a long way to Holcombe, which is in Kent, and um I now have two children, and one of them understands what I do, and I want her to be a part of that.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Uh travels a long way, and this way is 25 minutes away.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Also, they've got huge goals.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: I love the fact that they're basically champions and they want to do something special.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: They've got a lot of guys there who I've got a lot of respect for.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Pretty excited for, pretty excited for it.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Um yeah.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: You guys got any got any points on that?
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Or should we go on to the abuse?
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: I like I like the fact that they're trying to do something in Europe.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: I think it's a pretty cool move.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I'd argue that it's 20, it's not 25 minutes away, I'd say it's further away, but that's not really a reason.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Um, okay.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: But no, I I genuinely think it's like I I've we've discussed this multiple times in person.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Like I actually think it's quite a good, it's a good move from you in terms of like life.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's a real opportunity for you to actually go and, as you say, like go and win something in Europe.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: But I think it's a real cool thing that OGs are doing, and I feel they're actually putting together a squad that can take on European sides, and they're actually, I wouldn't say they're overspending, I'd say they're spending money in the right places to kind of push themselves in the right direction.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'd also say they're probably spending not too dissimilar to what normal European sides are spending.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Um, so from that point of view, I actually only think it's good one for the league.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think it's good from them, to be honest, to actually support athletes.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I think it's a positive thing personally, and I wish you all the best with it.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: Wow, can I okay?
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: I want to I'm I'm I want to pitch in on two things.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Firstly, which that's something that's been bothering me for I think seven seasons or six seasons ever since we've done this, is you guys are a part of Europe.
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: I know you you you got the Brexit thingy and you're not you're not in the European Union and shit.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: You are a part of Europe.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: If you keep talking about Europe, Europe, Europe.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: If you don't feel like you're a part of Europe, you guys are not not invited to the next EHL because it's European Hockey League, right?
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: You guys are a part of Europe, so stop acting like you guys are like all special and you're your own continent, you're a part of Europe.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Secondly, Phil, uh, it it really annoys me that you bring in uh Luca and the kids and your family because now I can't abuse you anymore for your choice.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: Uh I thought it was pretty funny um to like uh give you some shit for it.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: Um, because ever since you left OR, I never forgave you for it, and now you leave again to another club.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: It's your fourth club in five years.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: Which which which is like I don't want to call you a hooker, but you're pretty damn close to it.
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: But it is four and five, that's right.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it's Wimbledon, then one year OR, then two years of Holcomb, and now he goes to OGs.
- 13:27SPEAKER_05: What a slut! Yeah, you're an absolute fucking slut, Philip.
- 13:31SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, I never even thought about that.
- 13:33SPEAKER_05: You you dirty cheat.
- 13:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you're you're a hooker.
- 13:39SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't, I I don't think we should take this lightly.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: This is this is very, very, very bad of you, Philip.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Okay, but congrats on your move and congrats on playing closer to your kids and blah blah blah blah.
- 13:54SPEAKER_03: Like I'm very happy for you in that way.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: But you did pull kind of a Kevin Durant by joining the team that beat you a couple times, uh, and now you join them.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: All fair, all fair.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, you you just in your own words, you're just spitting facts right now, so that's fair.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: I I would like to bring up a couple of things because, like, first of all, Brendan's opened it up, and Brendan is in charge of the socials, and Brendan opened it up to um see what people thought.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: I got some some really funny stuff.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: I think I'll give I I don't know if you've seen this one, but there's a guy out there called Ollie Nevin.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Um, you made my week, Ollie.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Uh he he he sent me a message maybe a year and a half ago saying, massive fan, just want to show appreciation because this is one of the best podcasts I've listened to, and and one of my goals wasn't bad either.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Right, and then a few days ago he messaged me to say, Phil, I take the above comment back.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: You used to have values and shit on those that went and played for the heartless money-grabbing OGs.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Now you've become one of them.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Not angry, just disappointed.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Why not Serbiton?
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: At least they have a nice club atmosphere and Brendan.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Now, first of all, Ollie, we've been I've been I've been saying this for all of the seasons that we've been at let's stick together.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Like, we want the abuse as well as the nice stuff.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I really appreciate the message.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, um, you're wrong in in lots of stuff, but I really appreciate you reaching out.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: So thank you.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: Um up until now I feel like Ollie is only spitting facts as well.
- 15:27SPEAKER_03: Well done to you, Ollie.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: This does open up the bigger discussion though, because Brendan put about the transfer market and England and stuff like this, and I and I wanted to bring up something that maybe people on the outside don't wouldn't understand quite as much, which is that there is not this huge difference, this huge split between old Georgians and the rest of the league.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: I would be fascinated to know the wage bill of every Premier League club.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: I think there are a lot of people would be very surprised about how many clubs pay uh goods in kind uh cash.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: And it is it is not the the big everyone ogs have got stupid amounts of cash and they just chuck it willy-nilly.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: They actually are going about it in a more professional way.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: I think they're they're more open with it.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: And sorry, you've got your hand up.
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think there's only one person in this who can answer this, and that's yourself because you've played for half the clubs in England.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's why I'm telling you.
- 16:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so it's not really a question.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: You you you know it because you've played for almost every club in England, so you can kind of right, you can kind of put them next to each other, all your contracts.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: I was gonna go into a little bit more detail.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: You oh, okay, I'm sorry, go on.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Is that okay?
- 16:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's okay.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: First of all, my first point is a lot of guys, uh uh people are messaging in saying uh, you know, OG's buying all the GB squad.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's a joke, it's just it's not making it fair.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: I I did some research, so this is good fun.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: On the men's side this year, in terms of internationals playing in uh Premier League clubs, uh the most was Serbiton.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: They have 10 internationals.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: The second is OG's, and they had five.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: And then uh Wimbledon and Holcomb had four, Hampstead had three, Southgate had two, and the rest are overseas.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: So when these comments keep coming in like they're buying the whole OG uh GB squad, there are ten at Serbiton.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Uh that's again just putting out facts right there.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: Ubia okay with that.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm all over it.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Uh are you including all internationals or just GB internationals?
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Just GB.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, fair.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: I would Brendan, do you want to chip in or are you okay?
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: No, I'm good.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: I think I think it's a good point.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I'd I'd I'd compare probably the cat the as in like how many players played international versus like actually full international players, but also the amount of caps as well.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Because I think that plays a big part in it.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: I was just going off pure uh centralized funded players.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, no, no, no.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: You're just in complete truth.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, no, I agree with all of it.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: So a little bit of um a little bit of I think reality there.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: So I'm quite happy to come out and say that uh thank you for everyone's feedback, but maybe uh it's it's because OGs are slightly more outward in their uh way they're going about stuff and they're trying to make stuff more professional and they're actively seeking out players, um, doesn't mean that other clubs don't do the exact same thing.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Brennan fair?
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean it's completely fair.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: I feel like this has just been a monologue.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: It's it's it has I feel this is this has been like you just trying to defend yourself.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: I mean there's been some there's some some absolute excellent shit housery on it on Instagram.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Um Tom Carson Roper is a sellout.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Alan Forsyth, overpaid.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: Uh anything else, Brendan?
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: You you picked a few up.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: Phil Phil, are you are you okay?
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: Because you sound you you look you look and you sound like you're about to cry.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: Come on, man.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: You made a good step towards OGs.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: You're actually gonna win the English league, probably.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: You'll get you'll get you'll get max third in the EHL next year again.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: Like, come on, life is good.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: Enjoy.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: Are you okay?
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: Mate, I'm good.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, look, then then cheer up, mate.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, I mean, this is this is a big step for me.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: We don't talk about me on the podcast.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: I poke fun at both of you.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: This is I've had to actually talk for a while about myself, which is uh I'm not gonna lie, a little bit uncomfortable.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: I'm very, very happy with my choice.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: And we weren't even able to poke fun because you brought the kids into it.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: This is an outrageous play, Phil.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: It's an outrageous defense.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: You're right, it's just taking all the fun out of it.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because now we can't really say anything because we both love both Luca and Indy like a lot, and Nicole.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: We can't even start about Nicole how much we love her, but like like then all the all the fun is gone.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Like, what am I going to say now?
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, should we start again?
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Poor form, poor form.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: Bring back nations, Philip.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: What a hell of a move.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: Is Jackson continuing next year?
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Yes, he is.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Well, he's the coach, he's the player coach.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: He's the player coach.
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: He's a fucking legend.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: Oh shit anymore, but still delivers a good high balls and puts himself in the field for 60 minutes.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, what a legend.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: Living the dream.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, this has been an interesting part one.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Thanks, guys.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Right, it's part two onto the actual podcast hockey stuff.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, we decided this week, or I think Brendan is this your idea, Brendan?
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: I think this was my idea, yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: Is uh we are going to build the best player we can using our current international team.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: So Brendan is gonna give us a series of categories, and then we have to choose the best player from our own international team to choose from.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Make sense, yeah.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, exactly.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: So yeah, Yupe's obviously picking from his Dutch side, myself and Phil from our GB current squad.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: Um, we'll start off with physical.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: You want to give us your physical?
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was uh I was thinking there were there were there were a couple guys in our team that that really uh stood out.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Um, first of all, me of course, because of my incredible physique.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Um we're gonna get into this again where we have a we have a it's my turn, shut the fuck up.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Argument about physicality.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: We're not having an argument with him, he's it's it's a waste of time.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: For me, it's between uh Thijs van Dam and Cheb Hoodemakers, uh, with an honorable mention for Terrence Peters.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: Um but I think Thijs van Dam uh takes the crown here and he should be uh for physical he should be the clear number one guy has insane stamina has um a really uh and I don't like no homo but a really good body like he's very muscular as shit and uh he's very quick so Thijs van Dam.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: You chose three very injury prone players there.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: Does that come into it at all?
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: I thought I didn't think that much through that much uh through I thought just it was just about when you're fit like how how like the physicality and then for me he's like he's the fittest like he can run the longest the quickest and he has he's the most the strongest so that's why fair enough he called me a pussy in the last game we played against him I don't like him go on Phil who would you go for physical and he has very good trash talk to Brendan so Phil who have you gone for um oh do I I thought we discuss it Brendan is that not how this is working oh we can we can do if you want do you want a joint one or do you want separate teams separate player no we'll join we'll join we'll do a joint one okay we can argue more uh I was going for either Nick Park or Zach Wallace in mine Brennan did you have any more yeah I had James Oates oh good one very good in our fitness test Oatesy's like unreal unreal but both Wallace and Park are like five foot five right uh yeah Oates is Oates I I think Oatesy's the best physically I think you right actually you don't I mean Zachy's Zach and Zach and Parky both are like quite nippy and like get stuck in but James Oates honestly is like he's just a bit of a physical specimen.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah he's just a bulldozer and he just runs all day like he he genuinely is the fittest thing I think I've ever seen okay james oates I'll take it I'll go with that uh tactical UP who have you got for tactical yeah this is this is pretty clear for me in our team it's just a block he is uh blocky he's like um very technically minded blocky yeah oh yeah I thought you didn't like doing that no but I do now we call him blocky block good old good old blocky yeah blocky yeah he's he's like the most um he also he's like a he you guys call it a badger he's like a real hockey badger he knows everything about hockey and he's really likes like there is this um he he's always busy with hockey he looks a lot of clips and he knows every press and he's like really good with uh technical shit so he for me is like the and he's also the one that at every halftime you kind of look at him if he has something to say if that makes sense so I think he's like the clear uh like technically he's the most gifted in our team and he and he likes it a lot nice I would I would never have called that from the outside looking in but that's actually really interesting yeah he's really good at it Phil yeah I I came up with um either David Ames uh James Gall or James Mazzarello um all very studious players all seems to know the game inside out I mean Maz uh the goalie likes to take notes about all of the outfield stuff which has always baffled the absolute hell out of me but I think if you put him at left wing he wouldn't be able to play but he'd know exactly what he was meant to do.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah uh very tough I I think uh probably aims aims uh would would would sneak it for me I I lent I learnt more towards jam because I was going to use aims in a different part um yeah you forgot to mention that we can only use everyone once right yeah sorry yeah um so I was leaning more towards jammer because I I I generally think jammer's like tactical knowledge is pretty ridiculous um having played with him all year as well in terms of like he's one of those players that you don't necessarily appreciate as much whilst you've got him until he stops so like this year he's had quite an injury impacted season um and it's been so noticeable when he hasn't been there which actually shows how impactful he is mainly for everybody else because he you don't realise how much he organises around so for me like I think jammer's tactical awareness is like pretty pretty unreal um but I agree it's between those three for me as well but I learned more towards jammers obviously you went towards aims so your choice your choice Phil which one do you want that one that'll go with you sure never happened before I'm gonna stick with Brendan but yeah you're right no uh distribution you can distribution I was struggling with just a little bit um because I wanted to say Jonas de Goes um but I don't know if I can uh if I understand the term distribution very well I think uh he is like our playmaker so you can give him the ball he'll deliver it to someone who is in a better spot every time uh it's very vain but I also put myself up there uh because I think I'm quite good at getting the ball forward either passing high ball or running uh and Florence Waterbook came to mind like but it's more from the right half position um but I went with uh Jonas de Goos because I think he's like our playmaker always in the center of the field can always get the ball and can always uh give it to someone in the same color shirt but I again I don't know if that's what distribution is all about I like it I think you've I think you've done a you've done a a more comprehensive job than most would do that you which I don't think anyone's ever told you that you've done a more comprehensive job.
- 27:55SPEAKER_03: No because I actually prepared again this week I'm very well prepared normally uh for all the listeners I've I've I've I've I don't know the the the the the past tense of um wing it but I've I've won it is that it winged it winged it it's not really a proper phrase for past tense but I like it normally wings it yeah yeah nice I won it for five seasons long and now actually prepared so every once in a while something smart comes out but I yeah I think Jonas he doesn't he's not known for like his long passing but like he he he can surprise you with like I also want to put that's the thing I also want to put him in dribbling and you also want to put him at control and you also want to put like you can put him anywhere that's an annoying thing but I I've I've chosen for distribution final answer.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: Okay Phil I also think we don't give you enough we don't give each other enough love you're you're really quite good at passing you so yeah and yeah like I was thinking in the Dutch team I don't know if you have that like that one who like stands out who is just the passer but I I I actually thought that you probably are aren't you this feels wrong so we're gonna move it on um yeah move it on yeah I'm very I'm very bad at receiving compliments Philip you're gonna is that why you've gone up two octaves yeah yeah yeah right uh yeah I had um you Brendan for distribution and I had uh Zach Wallace uh Brendan you're you're pretty much well known when people give you positive feedback you normally get angry because it's only directed in one way and that is distribution you are very good at slapping the ball and aerialing the ball um which which I don't know why you ever get angry with because it's just such a clear super strength and then uh Zach because he can uh pass it from anywhere to anywhere um whether he's running a full pelt or stood still so that's a pretty key bit of distribution he can thread the eye he can throw a 70 yard bomb yeah so Brennan what do you think anyone else no I I agree with you I think Zacky I think Zaki for me is that all around probably probably very similar to why you picked Jonas de Hoos um Zaki's ability to carry it into a better position or give it to somebody in a better position but I think like what has been underestimated previously before probably the last two seasons is how good Zach's long game is um I think that Hoofda class is probably witnessing that now how good he is at actually passing a long range um so for me yeah I think Zach's definitely our player dribbling UP dribbling yeah there's for me there's only that's why I was like for me it's it's between two I think Jonas the goes again uh but Jorit Krohn has an insane dribble he can carry it from any position to anywhere like uh an honorable mention is also Time Rijnga he's not um like as skillful as like a Jorid or um or Jonas as in it's not as smooth but he's really good at like the he can go in the 90 degree why are you laughing Philip sorry ignore me yeah I've been doing that for six seasons long but why why did I say something funny I will not continue oh Phil just left okay Brendan well Brendan for control or not a control and dribbling uh I will choose Jorit Krohn because he is like very very good at um at the air dribble at uh what the fuck what are you doing Phil?
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: Oh Phil's lost himself yeah I agree uh yeah I completely and I get that I think you're I think Crohn's I've been on the receiving end of far too many of Kroon's spins where I've gone for gone for it and just got sold down the river.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: So yeah I get that like with Jogh I don't know I don't think his success rate is the highest in the world as if that makes sense so not every dribble ends in like but his ceiling dribbling wise I think is the highest uh internationally I I think if you put this category like you have Phil and you have Van Awel and you have like players like that or any Indian uh striker but I think Joghurt is also up there with the best of him dribbling wise because you can do it both aerial on the ground he has like a if you have a one on one against him you're kind of shitting your pants and I've been on the end of that multiple times so uh yeah for me he's he's he's he's a good choice at the dribbling yeah couldn't agree more he I think you're right though his ceiling is is is the highest I've I think I've ever seen he's quite scary yeah yeah spitting facts for us i i wrote down um jack waller i think he is like pure smooth silk um very very difficult to get the ball off uh i wrote down dave goodfield uh again like very very smooth can make people fall on their arse very easily lee morton has got very really quick hands he's like not not as silky but like he he uh moves the ball so fast and he has such quick feet that he can again sit people down and I wrote vainly I vote I wrote myself down the only one I'd add to the list is Ansel because I think I I think people underestimate how good at dribbling that boy actually is like he can just he normally beats one and he glides past the second one if there's a second person there which is what I think is quite like unique about Ansel.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: He doesn't ever panic about it he kind of just goes with the speed that he's going at um yeah but he seems more like uh he seems more like uh not that I play against him an awful lot but because he's always injured but uh he's more like uh like a like a power dribbler if that makes sense yeah I mean dribbling is more about the smoothness and the like as Phil said the silky moves if that makes sense.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah I think it'd be between Walla gooders and ropes but I yeah ropes I put I put you down for mine.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: I think it's the fourth we're not doing ourselves uh we're not doing ourselves oh in which case uh probably waller I think waller's ability just to get out of situations is so smooth and it kind of you mentioned Morton Lee Morton yeah he's he's um he's he's um I don't know how to say it for someone who's so good at hockey as he he looks like he's very shit if that makes sense yeah it's like it's quite unnerving like the way he I think he is quite unorthodox like he holds his hands quite high up I think he does really big drags but they're like they're not smooth but they get shit done very very he's like very easy he would be like uh like Tim Duncan it doesn't look pretty but it's very effective that's a very big compliment and I don't mean he's as good as Tim Duncan don't get don't get too much ahead of yourself Lee just calm down but you are very effective at what you do just to let you know you Lee is an avid listener of the pod so he will be picking up on that yeah I give I I have to play against him next year because he went he he fucked off to Amsterdam he left he left uh he probably didn't get paid enough because all the money went to Phil at OG but um no I'm his repla I'm his I'm his replacement yeah that's what everyone keeps saying yeah it was the other way it was the other way round you he left before Phil was going well let us know uh is is Phil Roper an upgrade from Lee Morton all you OG fans are you happy are you upset are you are you not sure like they they they kind of if you if you squint your eyes a bit they kind of look alike but yeah what do you think black hair brilliant right yeah on to the next one you know what yeah then because they have black hair every fucking red hat I get it gets named the mole right now so that's why oh give it a rest walla right uh control well done Brendan very quick uh control yeah two in two Brennan two in two come on I come on don't give him that much credit he has a man man um control um for me there was only one really that stood out and that's cherry brinkman like I think I said to Brendan as well you could put Jonas de Gures in almost any category uh in our team because he's like very all around um but yeah I'd go for Cherry Bringman you can pass you he makes uh shitty passes look great passes with like you can pass him a bouncy ball high ball anything and he will trap it so uh yeah for me it's uh a quick one is Cherry I said uh Aubrey like seems like he could go in quite a lot of the categories as well but I think his his first touch is really nice and uh everything is um looks looks pretty with him again you can you can feed him a lot of shit and he'll he'll sort it out yeah the only other person I had was aims on that for exactly for the exactly the same reasons but that's because I didn't use aims earlier um your call on this one Phil because I think both of them equally could go in this category.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: Let's go with orbs screw you aims yeah screw you anz uh attitude um yeah if we're talking about someone having an attitude uh I'm probably up there um but I know so only positive only positive attitude I know I know I get set you guys up nibble nibble nibble fish and reel here we go um yeah attitude I'm talking uh I'm my uh pick was uh Terence Peters he's a guy who trains really really hard never complains is also uh in a relative way good to the ref like he will not complain very often he will when he even though it's not a fault he will quickly turn around run his tackle back uh I think uh for me and he also at training he's like uh sometimes obnoxiously uh positive so when we have to run he's uh so we do a heavy training session then afterwards you have to run and he's like oh that's not uh like he's always so positive that it's annoying like oh we'll get so fit guys oh we'll get so fit now like oh for fuck's sake shut the fuck up we don't want to run you know what I mean like uh yeah so he's uh or someone says when someone's not training and and it's like someone is like oh I wish I was inside with uh the fucking uh Joe whatever who's inside chilling right now and he's always like yeah but I'm getting better at uh than him right now you know what it's always positive but it's the he he's like the perfect player to have as a coach so I I put him there I got Stu Rushmere I don't think uh I've got the I don't think there's a competition here he um he he he I I guess there's it's quite a lot of comparisons there you he he eats everything he wants it basically he turns up and you look at it and the way he gives you a high five you're like he's always ready like if you told him go and run a marathon he'd be like I want it he's it's like the sixth session in three days and he's like in the gym being like only got babies and he just yeah again it's like kind of that thing where you're like why is he trying so hard all the time like when you're just out on your arse and he's just there just going for it.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: It's um it's pretty inspiring actually but like at the same time really fucking annoying like I shouted at him for running too far like a like a year ago or something we're doing running sessions and you have to hit certain markers it was like you have to do it in 12 seconds he's there doing it in nine and like and the third rec and I'm like Stu will you calm the fuck down you're making us all fucking look bad and he's like I just won out yeah couldn't agree more couldn't agree more stuff Stu is just an unbelievable teammate as well for that side of things communication you've you got um I'm going uh Lars Ballock he's our free man uh he's our free man uh he is um will callin's best friend yes will call best mate uh but he's like the most vocal guy in our team I think during a match he has a tendency next time we play we guys just pay attention he will he will yell a lot uh like it's just to get people going it's it makes it sounds really stupid now but during a game you're kind of like oh yeah fuck yeah yeah here we go you know what I mean uh so he's I think communication wise he's uh yeah he's the clear uh the clear one like I find myself now also doing what he does at OR sometimes just you don't have to yell good information just yell and people will start running sometimes so for me he's the clear uh communication guy Bill I I had Ollie payne I think uh we talk about him too much can I just say he's really good at talking and quite positively but calmly at the same time well done Ollie Brendan uh I had Maz and Ames for basically exactly the same reason um I think also what's nice is those three guys don't necessarily always speak it's just when they speak it's normally pretty pretty important information um apart from Payne who just shouts a lot um I think because you're further away from him Phil you don't hear him as much I just said it was good communication it's quite clear miserable but so you got aims for every category yeah pretty much do you yeah we'll go with Payne we're not giving aims the credit shooting shooting for someone saying we'll not give aims any credit you give him an awful lot of credit Brendan yeah but he's not on any of these categories is he come on Ames picture of Medi you have a picture of Ames oh god right you you you're gonna say Duco let's move on he actually does he actually does have a picture of um aims next to Maddie I've seen it really yeah I do I do actually yeah yeah and the and the crusty towel is back here we go no okay uh shooting let me guess Duco yeah Duco Duco too right next one don't like him enough to talk about him next one Phil who have you got brinkman surely is better than him as shooting no got brinkman on control mate I got brinkman on control Cherry was an honorable mention I actually put myself as an honorable mention in every category uh now that I'm looking at it ridiculous yeah no it's not ridiculous I think I'm I would be like if I wasn't so vain I would have put myself everywhere but I I am uh if if I was how do you say it no I'm not vain so I didn't put myself in any category but I'm an honorable mention for every one of them uh but yeah Duco and Brandon doesn't want me talking about it so here I go talking about him he has an insane shot his backhand is like the hardest I've seen and he has he's really good and it's an underrated skill but he scores a lot with it his back end slap he can slap the shit out of a ball with the back end like he scored a goal against Australia in the pro league it was like a like a short back end slap like in the top corner and he hits it so hard it's like an underrated skill but his shot is fucking it's like it's nails it's very hard yeah Jerry is the honourable mention again but uh yeah Duco is uh for me because Cherry was at control.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: I mean I had as you would imagine the forwards so I had Banders Wardie and Will Calnan Cal hits a really nice ball like a lot of the time he hits it in right into the corner but uh yeah Wardy obviously like similar he just puts the ball the ball through anyone to get it into the goal but Banders was the was my was my winner here just because he melts the ball so hard he has the ability to score crazy goals when they're bound Bouncing balls over his head, uh into the ground, um, and he also hits it like an absolute tank.
- 44:07SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think he is he's definitely the top guy that the keepers are absolutely terrified of if he has an open shot.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I I'd wardy down just because he he scores them goals that like you're like, how the fuck has he put that in?
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Like he's put it in with his arse, he's put it in with his elbow.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Like for some reason he just always seems to get it in the right position, and even when it looks incredibly unconventional, he still puts it in the back of the net.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: So I'd wardy for that.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm happy to go with you on that.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm I misunderstood that one then because I was like, it's not dirty goals, it's shooting.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but uh surely it's just who puts the goal ball in the back of the net the best in the best, like the most ways, surely.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: No, it's it's shooting.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Oh well, Brendan.
- 44:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, then you should then you should put uh goal scoring in deflections, in which case it banderac wins it.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: Fine.
- 44:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, here we go.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: Rell is back on the closet.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: Oh took a while.
- 44:58SPEAKER_00: No, I don't have any problems with that.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: Feels feels bang on there.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, and there we go.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: That's our team.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: That's our players, that's our team.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: I've got a quick fire for the for both of you, right?
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: Uh there's three extra categories very quick fire.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: You ready?
- 45:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, right.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, you've got the coolest head.
- 45:13SPEAKER_03: It's not a quick fire for me.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: We have a lot of hot heads in our team.
- 45:21SPEAKER_03: We have a lot of hot heads.
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: Jesus Christ.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I said cool heads, so maybe there's just one of them.
- 45:27SPEAKER_03: Cool, yeah.
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to think.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: We don't really have one of them.
- 45:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Terrence beat us, I think, maybe.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: Brendan.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: Uh Ames.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: Ames is just a great.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: You can't say Ames.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: Say someone else.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Well, I've just called the Brendan.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: Just say someone else.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: All right, uh, Connor Williamson.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: Good one.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: Right, who's taking the game by the scruff of the neck?
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: You translation.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: Who's the who's the guy that when push comes to show goes, I give me the ball, I'm gonna set it out for us.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: I'm having it.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: Can I say Yonas the goes again?
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: Yonos the ghost.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: Renan.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, ours is Zaki.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: Uh you've got a last uh shootout, last um last shootout, fifth one to win the Olympics.
- 46:22SPEAKER_03: Hands down, yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: Yogurt Clone.
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: After Phenoble, after Phenoble, I think one of the better shootout takers uh in the world.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: Uh I'd I'd go Connor, just because I've seen him do it so many times in terms of like he just has so many variations.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: I I back him because he's just cool under the pressure.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: You're shaking your head though, Phil.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: Go on.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a ridiculous shout.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: That's fine.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: Who you do who would you go for?
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: Connor's got an insane shootout, but you're talking about the last minute to win an Olympic Games, and out of our squad of 34, you're going for Connor.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, probably.
- 46:59SPEAKER_00: Between him and Orbs.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: Fine.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_00: Why who are you going for?
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: Orbs, Zach, uh, Walla, Ames, me.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Okay, cool.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: I should just do what I was going for.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: Nice, okay.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: That is a rash moment.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: That is a rash creed moment.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: Bill's just pissed off I didn't say Phil.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no, just that is a rash creed moment.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, okay, right, we we haven't got much time, so we gotta go into the coop.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: Let's go, let's go.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: Welcome.
- 47:37SPEAKER_02: Welcome in the coop again.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: We we took a little time off last week.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: Wasn't the best coop.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: The chicken, the chicken were very uh un at ease, but they're they're very calm again.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: It's a lovely place again.
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: Um, do we want to start with?
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: I have we have three categories in the coop today, so we'll go past them quickly.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: We have two questions, two dilemmas.
- 48:00SPEAKER_03: I have some start bench cells, and I have an uh a very good joke I found on the internet.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: We'll finish with the joke.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's have a sandwich of like one dilemma, then some start bench cell, then a dilemma.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: Firstly, if you could choose one lifetime sponsor deal, which brand would you choose or which company?
- 48:24SPEAKER_03: Uh, I'd I'd go, Oh, this is tough.
- 48:28SPEAKER_03: Like, so to get to give you guys some time to think, and we're a podcast, so I'll talk a bit through.
- 48:34SPEAKER_03: Uh, so it doesn't have to be like a hockey brand because it's a lifetime deal.
- 48:37SPEAKER_03: So, for let's say LeBron James has signed a lifetime deal with Nike, which means that even if he stops playing basketball, Nike will still provide it with clothes and shoes and whatever.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: So, um, you could also say, I want to be sponsored for me, for instance, by KLM, so that all my uh flights from now on will be free and sponsored.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: I just have to post, which was I thought was pretty genius for me.
- 49:02SPEAKER_03: That's good.
- 49:04SPEAKER_03: Um, but then I also thought maybe like Coca-Cola, well, also like it's a pretty cool brand, and I like Coca-Cola, so why not?
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: Like, for instance, Medi is sponsored by Red Bull, which is a very cool brand.
- 49:17SPEAKER_03: Also, like a cool lifetime deal.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: But yeah, do you want to drink?
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: I think if you keep drinking Red Bull for the rest of your life, you won't make it past 50.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: I'm I've I've got three rolling rolling in my head.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: The first one's the boring one, like the added ass or Nike.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: The second one is is um like Land Rover, that'd be cool.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: Like sponsored by Land Rover, that's a cool lifetime deal, I think.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: Uh rocking around in a in a Discovery or Defender for the rest of your life, or like uh uh I can't think of a cool holiday make, but like Thomas Cook or something like that, so you just get all your holidays paid for.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: Thomas Cook's not a good example.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: Want the family package deal, please.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: Maybe it is a good deal for me.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: I just thought it was funny that it was Thomas Cook.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: I swear that was the one when we were like growing up.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: That was the one that we always used parents.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: Always used to be like, I just need to pop into Thomas Cook to see if there's any good deals on.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: What's a good one?
- 50:09SPEAKER_00: Uh genuinely I haven't got T U T U I is that one?
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: I don't even know.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: Do we?
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, trail trail finders.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: That's a good one, I think.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: That could go on lots of adventures.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: I was I was going down the same route.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: Red Bull or Alpha Tari would be really cool.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that'd be seriously cool.
- 50:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was thinking the same.
- 50:29SPEAKER_03: I think the easy one is like saying Nike, because there's like a shit ton of like cool shoes and clothing and stuff.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: Uh Alpha Tari, by the way, who are they?
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: They're like the sister company of Red Bull.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but why would you get sponsored by them?
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: Because their clothes are seriously cool, they're like more clothy than other sides of Red Bull.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: It's quite cool.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's seriously cool, it's not quite cool, it's seriously cool.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: Travel one's a great shout.
- 50:53SPEAKER_00: That's such like a great option.
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like every holiday is like paid for, that's really good.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:02SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, let's go to let's go.
- 51:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, let's go to a start bench cell because I have a couple good ones, I think a couple tough ones.
- 51:09SPEAKER_03: I'm ready.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: You're laughing at me quite a lot.
- 51:11SPEAKER_01: No, it's just the fact that we go from talking about Thomas Cook and T UE into like right, startbench cell.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, here we go.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: PUE, we're not on a drugs test, Phil.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: You lose hell.
- 51:21SPEAKER_03: Okay, uh Time Rheinga, Nick Park, or I don't know his first name, Hinrichs.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: Oh, Theo Theo Hinrichs, the German right half.
- 51:31SPEAKER_03: All three half like right or left halves, very uh like quick, they're they're they're skillful for their position.
- 51:39SPEAKER_03: Who would you choose?
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: My my gut set start, uh, but I'm I'm not objective, I gotta be honest.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: I would say I start Time Rheinger, I'd bench Nick Park, and I'd sell uh Hinrix.
- 51:55SPEAKER_03: You could convince me by starting Nick Park, but for me, Hinrix is the one that I would sell.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: So I was thinking I'd sell Ryanger.
- 52:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, I can also imagine.
- 52:06SPEAKER_00: And I'd and I'd flip, and I'd I don't know who I'd start between Parky and uh Henrik Henriks.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: They're all three very close to each other, though.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm I'm I'm in Brendan's camp.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: I'm selling Ryanga.
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: I think I've already talked to my pod.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: I think he's like got insane, like, but he can play hockey.
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: I just he's just so rash.
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I can deal with that.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: Like like I reckon he could just turn up one day and he'd just be like, Oh, I'm just gonna throw 70 odd bombs today.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter if there's anyone there, I'm just gonna do that.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, reverse sticks, I'm just gonna hit some reverse sticks.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: And I reckon I'd just want to go over and punch him square in the face.
- 52:38SPEAKER_03: Then perfectly, perfectly sub him up though.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: That's like exactly what he is as a player, but it's when he's when he's on, I don't think there's a lot of better left or right halves in the world.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: Hardig, mirayas, and months grambush.
- 52:57SPEAKER_03: Selling Hardek, no interest.
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna go a different route.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna start Hardig.
- 53:05SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna bench Grambush, and I'm gonna sell Miraes.
- 53:08SPEAKER_03: I think.
- 53:09SPEAKER_03: I think Hardig is is like he's not the best player in the world, okay, but he is a very, very good midfielder.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: I I I think I'd start him.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: You're gonna start him above Grambush.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: I think I'm gonna go a completely different route.
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: Brendan, Brendan.
- 53:25SPEAKER_01: We're just we're just about to have a discussion then.
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 53:28SPEAKER_03: I think Mats Grambush is insanely good.
- 53:31SPEAKER_03: I I I rate him very highly, but I feel after HL, it's tough to say this because he was really, really good.
- 53:37SPEAKER_03: Uh, and he'll probably have a really good Olympics and shit.
- 53:40SPEAKER_03: But I think I feel like he's not like he's he's like not over the hill, that's not the correct term, but he's not as good as he was like three, four years ago, if that makes sense.
- 53:51SPEAKER_03: He lost a bit of pace, he's like he still has the skill and like the vision and stuff, but I feel like um yeah, but he's still an insane player, but we're talking about three of the best midfielders in international hockey.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: So go on, Brad.
- 54:07SPEAKER_00: No, you go on.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: You've you sounded like you wanted to go a different route.
- 54:10SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, I mean I just still rate uh Matt Scrambush as like one of the best midfielders in the world, and I I I just don't see I don't think the other two like it just the way I watch him play the game, and maybe the way I value the way he plays, I just don't think the other two get close.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: I think his his way he like runs a game at the same time as somehow being able to score important goals and have clutch moments.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: Uh like he's done it in the World Cup, he did it in that game um in the EHL.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: I still think he does it on a regular basis.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: I just think that if he's a chance to start, I'm starting him, I'm benching Hardick, and then I'm selling Morales.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: See, I'd start Grambush, I'd bench Morales because I think he offers more than what Hardick does.
- 54:53SPEAKER_00: I think Morales, you can play him in multiple different positions, and I think that's what gives him the flexibility, which is why I'd start here.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: I'd bench him and then I'd sell Hardik.
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: Get my cashola for Hardek.
- 55:03SPEAKER_05: Next, Stard Benchell.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: Duko Telokamp, Sam Lane, Tim Brand.
- 55:16SPEAKER_03: Stardben sell.
- 55:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's a pretty tough one.
- 55:18SPEAKER_03: I think like Duko is not a well, it's like he's he's becoming a well-known name in international hockey, and I think he scored a shitload of goals for the amount of caps.
- 55:27SPEAKER_03: I think with Sam Lane, you both get a quality corner and like a real someone with a real nose for the goal, we say in Dutch.
- 55:34SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you say that in English, yeah.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: Um, and with Tim Brandt, he's like more, he's more on the distributing side, and he's very tough to cover and to mark uh within the 23.
- 55:46SPEAKER_03: And you can also you can even put him in midfield with uh Australia.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: Um, so not like very uh they're not exactly the same players, but I feel like they're a bit from all you have a little little of everything.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: Like I would go, but it's my again, not very I would start Sam Lane.
- 56:05SPEAKER_03: I would because I feel like for me he's done quite a lot at OR, so I'm a bit biased in it, and I feel like he was like a really good striker in front of the goal, always in the right spot, and has like a quality corner.
- 56:18SPEAKER_03: I would sell or I would bench Duco, but again, not a bit biased because I've seen him in training so much and he can score from literally every spot in the D.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: And I would sell Tim Brent with pain in my heart because I really like him as a hooky player.
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: I'd I'd probably start Sam Lane, pretty similar reasons.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: I'd probably bench Tim Brand because he's been around long enough and I've seen him long enough.
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: And I'd probably the reason I'd sell Duco is because I haven't.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: I think Duco's also in that like really sweet spot where like I think when you come into an into international hockey, like it's actually quite easy to play your own game, and kind of you don't get stuck in the mind games of like doing anything different, you just come in and just play your own game, which is what I think he's at at the moment.
- 57:02SPEAKER_00: And I wonder in like a few games time, like in 2030 caps time, whether he gets into that that zone where you kind of struggle a little bit and people start working you out and understanding how to play against you.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: Um, so I think from that point of view, I think Tim Brandt's more proven for me.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: Whereas I think Duco, I don't I don't I think Duco will get there, but at the moment, I don't necessarily think he's done enough for me to be able to say.
- 57:26SPEAKER_00: But it's again, I haven't seen enough.
- 57:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I completely agree.
- 57:28SPEAKER_03: I think you you cannot really go wrong with these three.
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: You can you can do any any any kid any like uh form, and I think you would be okay because you can even start Tim Brand, Ben Sam Lane, sell Duco, but I think uh I think Duco is not as uh how do you say it?
- 57:45SPEAKER_03: He's not been at the big stage, maybe long enough to put him ahead of Tim Brand, but I feel like his his potential is better than than the other two, if that makes sense.
- 57:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it makes sense.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: I think if it's right now um starting Duco benching uh Tim Brand and selling Sam Lane, but only just because if I'm talking like an international team, like I think what Sam Lane did in the year and a half at OR was like unbelievable, but I still haven't seen it truly like uh on the on the international stage, and I really like what the other two offer, it would be very mix-and-match with that.
- 58:25SPEAKER_03: I think that's fair, but uh in Sam Lane's defense, I feel like he hasn't he doesn't have the the players around him also.
- 58:33SPEAKER_03: He's not a player who you can give the ball in midfield and he'll score his own goal.
- 58:37SPEAKER_03: He's more a player who needs to be distributed good.
- 58:41SPEAKER_03: Like I feel like if you switch Ben Derek and Sam Lane, if that makes sense, like pretty similar players.
- 58:47SPEAKER_03: I feel like Sam Lane would score the same, or maybe even more at Ben Rek.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: Interesting, uh interesting take, not sure.
- 58:55SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I mean this is the thing where we we are where we're so we're so biased and we're so uh like you put this guy here, you put this guy there.
- 59:03SPEAKER_01: We have it.
- 59:04SPEAKER_01: You're meant to have opinions, aren't you?
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: Go on, you carry on.
- 59:07SPEAKER_01: I have two more.
- 59:08SPEAKER_05: Uh Christopher Ruhr, Phil Roper, and Thijs van Dam.
- 59:15SPEAKER_00: That's a nasty three.
- 59:16SPEAKER_05: Here's mine, and I'm being no Phil, don't start being a bitch already.
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: Uh, we're talking Phil relax.
- 59:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I would start Thijs van Dam.
- 59:31SPEAKER_05: I would bench Christopher.
- 59:34SPEAKER_05: No, okay.
- 59:35SPEAKER_05: Phil, in all fairness, I would sell Christopher Ruhr, I would bench you, and I would start Thijs van Dam.
- 59:43SPEAKER_05: I feel like you're over the hill, you're not as good anymore.
- 59:51SPEAKER_05: Fuck's sake.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 59:56SPEAKER_03: What would you do, Brent?
- 59:58SPEAKER_03: I genuinely don't know.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_03: You would start David Ames and then uh bench and Connor Williamson.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_00: I I genuinely don't know with this three because I think it's like it's similar to the last one, but I think on a different level.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: Like the three before Be bold, Brent.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: Be bold.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_00: Be bold.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_00: I'd start Phil, I'd bench Tijs Van Damme, and I'd sell Ruhr.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: And the only reason is I think Ruhr is unbelievable, but there's games where Ruhr goes missing, and like I think that's the only reason that I think normally when obviously in your careers, like you go on a trajectory where you're like um you know you gradually build up and then you get to a point where you're just consistently hitting, like a flow van orball.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_00: Like, and I think that's where ropes and Thijs van Damp are, and I'd question whether Ruhr has still got it in him because I think he was so good at such a young age.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: I think he's not necessarily as impactful as he used to be.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_00: Um, so that's probably the reason I'd go that route.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: And you, Philip.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: I'll go answer the question.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I can't just avoid it, mate.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_03: He's trying to figure out right now how he's gonna tell everyone he wants to start himself and not sound incredibly vain.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_03: The silence is louder than ever because it's because what I said is against effects.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: I I don't like the three players.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't like the three players because it's almost impossible to to to like compare us because you chose two really fast fuckers and me.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_01: So you're like, okay, we'll go with that.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: Uh dribble players, are players who like to dribble and don't pass too often.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh sure I'm with that.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: But all right, uh I'll go with I'd actually do the complete opposite of both of you.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_01: I'd start Ruhr, I'd bench myself, I'm getting rid of Van Damme.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_01: Do you know why?
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: Because because I think I still haven't seen enough of Van Damme to think that he's like a like a really, really, really good player.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_01: I think he's a really, really good player, but like is he like on I know that Ruhr can still do something.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_01: Like if he's in my team, I know that he's still yeah, he goes missing for ages, but I don't really give a shit if he goes missing for ages and he scores an absolute worldly in the 60th minute.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_01: I uh yeah, I I don't I don't see enough of Van Damme to know enough or to be impressed enough.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I train with him every week, every day.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I know what he's capable of, but yeah, fair.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_03: Fair, fair, fair.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_03: You're speaking, you're speaking facts, Philip, for once.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_03: Those were all the start band sales.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: Uh, we're we're all about honesty and openness here at Let's Stick Together.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_03: I had another one, but Phil didn't want to answer it.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_03: Um, so we'll save it for next week.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_03: I have one more dilemma for you guys.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_03: Ready?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: You're such a little teacher's pet snitch, aren't you?
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: You snitch on me to the listeners.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_03: Well, listeners, let us know if you think I'm the teacher's pet or Philip with his muffin top is the teacher's pet.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_05: Um if you could become a coach of any team in the world in three years' time, what team would you choose?
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_03: Phil would probably choose the the the champion of England and and move there, right?
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_01: Is this an international team?
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: Any team, well, hockey team, not football or like a hockey team.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, three years you're a year before uh uh LA.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_03: Like what team do you think would you choose?
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_03: You could also choose a club team, would be very stupid, but okay.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_03: I'm thinking you should choose a team that still has a lot of like you can choose Belgium, for instance, but I think a big part of that selection will not will be like needs to be renewed.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_03: I don't think a lot of players right now would play in LA.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: Um, are you going GB?
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_03: But yeah, we all know they're not really a winning team.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_03: Do you choose uh Holland?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: Which has me.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_01: All right, mate.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_01: You just answer, you just monologuing your own question as well.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_01: Well, you two are shutting the fuck up.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_04: I need to the group is a place which is the required there's chicken everywhere.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_04: You you need to answer, you need to be quick.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_00: I'd I reckon there's three teams that I think are gonna be front-running internationally in the coming years.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna be Germany, I think it's gonna be Holland, I think it's gonna be GB.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_00: And I would because I think the GB squad's not gonna change much.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna be very, very similar.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think the squad they've got at the moment is only gonna get better, and it's young.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: Um, similar to the Dutch side, I think it's gonna be it's quite a young side, I think it's gonna go similar way, and I think the Germans are gonna have a bit of a revamp, but their 21 squad coming through is pretty damn good.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think if I was going internationally, I'd probably choose GB because I think with that bit older and the the group's been together for that long that I think it's going from strength to strength, which actually I think is really exciting.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_03: I want I want to I want to name an a dark horse, which is like it doesn't have a big expectations, but it has a big big uh big uh upside.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_03: I think is Spain.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_00: Spain, yeah.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: And you see, I knew you were gonna say Spain because they're just they're coming together.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_03: Not high expectations, but can really do some damage because they have a lot of really young players right now, but a lot of really good players, like Vila Longa is really good, Claude Pez is really good, they have this young young midfield who's like seventeen, eighty years who's really, really good.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_00: Is that Banastra here as well?
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's the right half, but there's yeah, he's good.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_03: You have this the strike, I forgot his name, but he's also really good.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_03: Like they have a really solid team already and the But they're all like 2023 and younger, except for Miraias.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_03: So I think there's like it's a cool team to because the expectations are as high as like GD, Holland, uh, Belgium, whatever.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_00: So I think my choice would be uh Spain.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_00: You don't want the pressure, doesn't even want the pressure, he's nervous.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: Also, he just loves Spain.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_01: You got a weird thing for Spain.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_00: Max Caldas, mate.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: That's all it is.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_00: It's just Max Caldas, big Max.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_05: Look at him.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_03: Would you rather Wario?
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_04: Wario, fucking Wario, eh?
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_04: Would you rather rather be in in fucking shitty Bishop Abbey where it's raining 700 days a year, in fucking shitty Holland, where it's raining 700 days a year, or be in sunny Barcelona, eating churros, having tapas, training once a day, and having the time of your life.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_03: Mate, I know what I'm doing.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_00: That rainy day and Bisham's looking great.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: I'm not going to Spain, I'll tell you that for free.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_00: If I have to eat rice, tomato sauce, and eggs again, I'm gonna fucking lose my Swede.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_00: Phil, what are you saying?
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't, I didn't I didn't have a great deal of difference feet from yours, Brendan, which is incredibly worrying.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: So I'll just add in Australia because I I just I just don't think with their mentality and their um way of playing that they seem to just just manufacture the same players that are really quite effective at uh uh international level.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_01: Um they like introduce them, you're like, who the fuck's that guy?
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's he's got a mullet and a shit tash.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, he's pretty good.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, solid.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_01: Right, they're gonna be good again.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_01: Um I think I think that that is bound to just just recycle itself.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_01: Uh so I'll probably add them in.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_01: Plus, if you if we're talking about way of life, I'll I'll quite happily go and live in Perth and uh have a nice time on the beach.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this job would be quite fun.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_01: They've got no players, but apart from that, yeah, it'd be fine.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but yeah, but you say that you're gonna be like I'm having a great time.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_01: The guy's holding the stick the wrong way around, but apart from that, it's all good.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you've got an opportunity to build something though.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: And you're guaranteed an Olympics.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_05: Well, Brendan, you need you need some bricks to build a house, and they're fuck all there.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're just on the bangwagon.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_01: Maddie's been telling you stuff, hasn't she?
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_01: She's been like, Oh, USA, we got stuff coming.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's gonna be good.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_01: Come on, Brendan.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: There's a head coach role at the USA.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_00: But I just like the I don't know, I just like the idea of like, imagine if it actually like takes off.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_00: I think also I'd a New Zealand job would be wicked if they weren't like completely pulling the funding.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_00: That'd be quite a cool place to go, but that's gone.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but now we're now we're actually okay.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_03: This is my bet.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_03: We're now choosing more of which country do you do you want to coach in rather than to be fair, I've said GB, you've said Spain, and ropes are said GB.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_05: I said it's my Australia.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Yupe.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_01: That was a pretty long session in the coop to make up for last week.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_01: Um, uh, this has been an eclectic episode of Let's Stick Together.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_01: It's been uh brought to you by Y1.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Thank you both.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_01: It's been Phil, and we are coming at you next week with episode five.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: Now it's gonna roll some music, and then you're gonna tell a shit joke.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, all right, see you later.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_03: Cheerio, right.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_03: This is a really good one, so make sure you're paying attention.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_01: I plan on hanging up straight after this.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_05: Two tampons are walking down the street.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_05: Who says hello first?
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_00: Neither, they're both tadpoles.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_05: No, neither, they're both stuck up guns.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_05: It's so fucking good.
