- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The rex was not chasing the jeep.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Murray, Murray, you there. You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go
- 0:11Speaker 1: to uh eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 3: It was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Wow that Prime Time. Maybe I had a crush on
- 0:18Speaker 2: Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game. You're listening to to Gods in Company.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It is two gods, a company whos ented by FanDuel
- 0:34Speaker 1: and the Fanduls sportsbook where it's studio, myself, Israel Goudieires,
- 0:37Speaker 1: Mike ye On Zoom Taylor is in the f VIP room.
- 0:41Speaker 2: We have bored at Ricardo with us. How about that?
- 0:44Speaker 4: For the podcast?
- 0:45Speaker 1: I asked the guys where they wanted to start today,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and everyone shrugged their shoulders except for Israel Goudieirez, who
- 0:51Speaker 1: of course wants to talk NBA. He's interested in Lakers, Rockets,
- 0:54Speaker 1: He's interested in Nuggets and Timberwolves. I am as well,
- 0:58Speaker 1: but I noticed he's never interested in Nixon Hawks.
- 1:03Speaker 5: No, I like the Nixon Hawks I like, but things
- 1:06Speaker 5: I would want to discuss are a little bit too
- 1:08Speaker 5: in the weeds. I think for even you guys as Nicks,
- 1:11Speaker 5: well not for you, Taylor, but for you as a
- 1:13Speaker 5: Knicks fans, do because I'm imagining you didn't catch much
- 1:16Speaker 5: of games three or four.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I called game four.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I did not catch much of Game three, so I
- 1:21Speaker 1: did catch Game four.
- 1:23Speaker 6: The reason why we don't want to talk about that series,
- 1:25Speaker 6: and I'll just say it, the Knicks are so much
- 1:28Speaker 6: better than the Hawks, yep, that it's embarrassing that it's
- 1:31Speaker 6: even two to two.
- 1:31Speaker 1: At this point, it is two to two, headed back
- 1:34Speaker 1: to the Mecca. The Mecca needs to win us a
- 1:36Speaker 1: game here and go up three.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Tat Peyton, Well, what did they fix exactly other than
- 1:41Speaker 5: Karl Anthony Towns just being and this was hilarious to me,
- 1:45Speaker 5: a version of Magic Johnson according to according to himself,
- 1:49Speaker 5: I guess and some others who watched, because he had
- 1:52Speaker 5: the triple double, they were a lot more aggressive. The
- 1:54Speaker 5: Hawks couldn't really do anything, but you felt like that
- 1:57Speaker 5: was a complete turnaround in the series.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Taylor.
- 2:00Speaker 6: The two biggest things I think the Knicks fix that
- 2:02Speaker 6: game was running the offense more through Karl Anthony Towns,
- 2:06Speaker 6: playing more aggressive through Towns and less of the Jalen
- 2:10Speaker 6: Brunton hero ball. And then on the defensive end, the
- 2:12Speaker 6: biggest adjustment was putting Josh Hart and mckel bridges more
- 2:16Speaker 6: on CJ. McCollum, because that Hawks offense right now.
- 2:20Speaker 3: CJ.
- 2:20Speaker 6: McCollum is the snake's head. We just got to cut
- 2:23Speaker 6: off the snake's head. And if Jalen Johnson and Daniels
- 2:27Speaker 6: beat us from corner threes.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So be it.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So be it.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Yep, You've definitely got to like if c J. McCollum's
- 2:34Speaker 5: gonna hunt down the Jalen Brunton matchup, you've just got
- 2:37Speaker 5: to find a way to stop that, somehow, some way
- 2:40Speaker 5: keep him from hunting him down. If it takes to
- 2:42Speaker 5: the final seconds of the possession, then yeah, you're probably
- 2:45Speaker 5: still good there.
- 2:46Speaker 1: The Knicks played like a desperate team. The problem is
- 2:49Speaker 1: they're not always desperate. If they could play like that
- 2:52Speaker 1: all the time, the Knicks would be a lot better team.
- 2:54Speaker 5: I don't even think that's the problem. The Knicks normally
- 2:56Speaker 5: play well when they're desperate. Even this group of Knicks normally,
- 3:00Speaker 5: he plays well with desperate. Reggie Miller compared it to
- 3:02Speaker 5: like the nineteen nineties Next which makes no sense.
- 3:04Speaker 1: But figure out a way to always be desperate. Okay,
- 3:06Speaker 1: got jobs are on the line for cry it outline.
- 3:08Speaker 5: But here's what's cracking me up about this. They're going
- 3:12Speaker 5: more through Karl Anthony Towns is the answer for the
- 3:15Speaker 5: Knicks woes. So you're saying that you have full faith
- 3:19Speaker 5: in Karl Anthony Towns. If that's going to be more
- 3:22Speaker 5: on him and less on Jalen Brunson for the rest
- 3:25Speaker 5: of the playoffs or is that just for this series,
- 3:27Speaker 5: please refer to him as Magic.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 3:30Speaker 6: First point, Reggie Miller. The only reason Reggie Miller is
- 3:34Speaker 6: comparing this Knicks team to the nineties Next team is
- 3:37Speaker 6: because Reggie Miller desperately needs the Knicks for any sort
- 3:41Speaker 6: of relevance from his perspective.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yep.
- 3:44Speaker 6: The only reason he's bringing up the Knicks is because
- 3:46Speaker 6: he's got one moment against the Knicks and that's the
- 3:49Speaker 6: only reason people know who Reggie Miller is.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yep, he's right about that. It's a one moment hall
- 3:53Speaker 2: of fame.
- 3:54Speaker 4: It's a bit harsh, but it is a version of
- 3:56Speaker 4: the truth.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Then, Reggie needs the Knicks more than the Knicks needs.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Correct, Yes, correct, right.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Reggie Miller walks around the the upper east side and
- 4:06Speaker 6: he's like, oh my god, I wonder if anybody's gonna
- 4:08Speaker 6: recognize me. And Knicks fans are like, hey, Reggie, like,
- 4:11Speaker 6: how's it going? And Reggie's like, oh my god, did
- 4:13Speaker 6: you see how wacky that was? Reggie Miller, get out
- 4:15Speaker 6: of here.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Put it on the pole. Reggie Miller, get out of here, yes,
- 4:21Speaker 2: or it out?
- 4:21Speaker 5: Nothing on trusting Karl Anthony Towns to be more of
- 4:24Speaker 5: a of a source of offense than Jalen Brunson.
- 4:27Speaker 6: The second point with that, it's that this Hawks team,
- 4:34Speaker 6: this Hawks team is just a bad matchup for somebody
- 4:37Speaker 6: like Jalen Brunson, where they have like the these lengthy
- 4:40Speaker 6: wings is so good.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 6: So if if for one series the Knicks have to
- 4:45Speaker 6: default to be like, hey, Karl Anthony Towns, we really
- 4:47Speaker 6: need you to win this series. We're gonna stop trying
- 4:49Speaker 6: to fit a square peg in a round hole, trying
- 4:52Speaker 6: to play hero ball with Jalen Brunson. If the Knicks
- 4:55Speaker 6: beat the Hawks, which you would expect them to do,
- 4:58Speaker 6: now that this series is just the best of three
- 5:00Speaker 6: and you get to the Celtics, and then the Celtics
- 5:03Speaker 6: have the Peyton Pritchard's, the Derek Whites, people that are
- 5:06Speaker 6: more likely for Jalen Brunson to be able to do
- 5:08Speaker 6: his thing. Then I think you could kind of revert
- 5:11Speaker 6: to how the Knicks played, or how the Knicks most
- 5:14Speaker 6: likely want to play, and not always relying on Carl
- 5:16Speaker 6: Anthony Towns. But for the better part of this series,
- 5:20Speaker 6: and I think even if you play against the Celtics,
- 5:23Speaker 6: the same thing is going to be true. Not too
- 5:25Speaker 6: many teams are gonna have an answer for Karl Anthony
- 5:27Speaker 6: Towns when he's playing at his best.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Yes, But I will also say, if I'm a head
- 5:31Speaker 5: coach that's opposing Carl Anthony Towns, if what I've got
- 5:35Speaker 5: to do between games is come up with a game
- 5:37Speaker 5: plan for Karl Anthony Towns, I'm pretty happy. I'm pretty
- 5:41Speaker 5: excited about that opportunity because I'm going you know what, magic,
- 5:44Speaker 5: go ahead and beat us with your passing. You're going
- 5:46Speaker 5: to see so many double teams, it's crazy. You're going
- 5:49Speaker 5: to see so many crowded paint, so much crowded paint,
- 5:52Speaker 5: and good luck kicking it out to Michal Bridges, with
- 5:54Speaker 5: his confidence probably being at about a zero right now, Okay,
- 5:57Speaker 5: good luck if you're kicking it out to these folks
- 5:59Speaker 5: on the bench.
- 6:00Speaker 4: The Knicks are dying to be their saviors.
- 6:01Speaker 5: They might be able to do it at the Garden,
- 6:04Speaker 5: They're not going to be able to do it in Atlanta.
- 6:06Speaker 5: I would say, so, I think if this is your hope,
- 6:10Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, it's possible. Coronty Town's a good player.
- 6:12Speaker 5: But if I'm Quinn Snyder, I'm having a field day
- 6:15Speaker 5: with ways to make him see multiple bodies in this
- 6:18Speaker 5: next game. And then let's see if Jalen Brunton is on.
- 6:20Speaker 1: One issue I have has nothing to do with anything
- 6:22Speaker 1: happening on the court in that series.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Is Game four was on Saturday. I have to wait
- 6:27Speaker 2: until Tuesday for game five. I mean, what are we doing?
- 6:31Speaker 1: I have to wait until Tuesday night to see a
- 6:34Speaker 1: big game five of the Mecca. What is the I
- 6:37Speaker 1: want to see it tonight? Why am I waiting three
- 6:39Speaker 1: days in between games?
- 6:41Speaker 6: Yes, eel Er, I almost extended my stay when I
- 6:43Speaker 6: realized that Game five was on Tuesday. I almost texted
- 6:46Speaker 6: you guys, Hey, sorry, I'll be back in a couple
- 6:48Speaker 6: of days.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I am shocked that you are here.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I have to be honest, I'm pretty sure a game
- 6:51Speaker 4: back just for softball to.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Right now if they were a Yankee. Are the Yankees
- 6:54Speaker 1: home this week? What's the deal with the Yanks here?
- 6:57Speaker 6: They just finished a road series in Houston, almost assuming
- 7:00Speaker 6: that they're still on this road trip.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Okay, they're still in Houston tonight. Again. You notice what
- 7:05Speaker 2: we did here is he wants to talk Lakers Rockets.
- 7:07Speaker 1: What do you mean, Wheat Nuggets, Tea Wolves, and we
- 7:09Speaker 1: sucked him into Nixon Hawks.
- 7:11Speaker 2: How about that?
- 7:11Speaker 5: I mean, well, first of all, you did it not.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Second of all, I'm fine with that. I'm fine with
- 7:16Speaker 5: that that talk about hedging. If my fault, my fallback
- 7:19Speaker 5: option is talking Nicks Hawks, I'm good.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Now let's talk Lakers and Rockets. I'm interested in that series.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Lebron hit a game on Friday night. Unfortunately it was
- 7:26Speaker 1: a Friday night because no one's talking about it today,
- 7:29Speaker 1: and another game has coming God, and now the.
- 7:33Speaker 2: The Lakers are up three to one headed back to LA.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But that game Friday night by Lebron to get that
- 7:38Speaker 1: game to overtime, to steal that game on the road
- 7:40Speaker 1: and now Durant is out.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Just incredible, incredible play by Lebron.
- 7:46Speaker 5: I don't know if it's just who I'm hanging out
- 7:50Speaker 5: with or what I watch or what I listened to,
- 7:53Speaker 5: but almost everybody I've heard on that game started with
- 7:57Speaker 5: what a collapse by the Rockets. Yeah, what a game
- 8:00Speaker 5: by Lebron. Like Lebron had the tip the steel basically
- 8:03Speaker 5: on Reed Shepherd from behind, and then the three pointer
- 8:06Speaker 5: there after he fumbled it back and forth with Luke Canard.
- 8:09Speaker 5: But that was one thousand percent a Rockets choke job.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah, go ahead to it.
- 8:15Speaker 6: Yeah, dude, that was That was a tough loss for
- 8:17Speaker 6: the Lakers last night, where the Rockets kind of just
- 8:20Speaker 6: bullied them the entire game. Lebron's up three to one
- 8:23Speaker 6: against Father Time this series.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Though, yes it is right, it is.
- 8:26Speaker 5: But the thing about that game, and I've been telling
- 8:28Speaker 5: you guys all year long, and I kind of want
- 8:30Speaker 5: to have TMAC back on because when I asked him
- 8:32Speaker 5: if you email Udoka was the problem, He's like, what
- 8:34Speaker 5: do you mean email Udoka?
- 8:35Speaker 4: I mean, this is the problem, man, this is the problem.
- 8:37Speaker 5: He wants to be all old school and just bully
- 8:40Speaker 5: his guys and be like you want to be old school.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Don't have Jabari Smith Junior take the ball in bat
- 8:45Speaker 5: like ye, don't have your your men Thompson touch the ball.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Mate obviously read Shepherd being a guard. He made a
- 8:50Speaker 5: big mistake that second time. But have some sort of
- 8:53Speaker 5: structure there instead of just all willy nilly nonsense and
- 8:55Speaker 5: positionless craziness, like have your ball handlers take the ball
- 8:59Speaker 5: up and then afterwards not to be sort of nurturing
- 9:02Speaker 5: for his guys to just a team that was one
- 9:05Speaker 5: in seven going into over going into that game in overtimes, Okay,
- 9:08Speaker 5: a team that has choked away at thirteen point lead
- 9:11Speaker 5: in overtime, stude like emo U Dooka needs to look
- 9:15Speaker 5: at himself and stop saying, oh, you guys grow up,
- 9:17Speaker 5: or you guys need to learn from your experiences. If
- 9:20Speaker 5: they keep pooping themselves, they're just gonna keep doing it
- 9:23Speaker 5: until somebody changes it, and you've got to find a
- 9:25Speaker 5: way to change that. And instead it's just like, oh, yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 5: we'll have these random people take the ball up a
- 9:28Speaker 5: court in a playoff game against Lebron, James.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Just don't ask t Maac about the knicks. I mean
- 9:33Speaker 1: I still have nightmares, and I started that question. He
- 9:37Speaker 1: was so mad, so defensive.
- 9:38Speaker 5: It's as if everybody in his life just goes, Aha,
- 9:41Speaker 5: you sucked with the Knicks, and now he's just hurting
- 9:43Speaker 5: every time he hears the name Taylor.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Put it on the ball?
- 9:46Speaker 1: Is Lebron defeating Father Todd put that on the ball again?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Because the only two things that are undefeated in the
- 9:52Speaker 1: history of sports are Father Time and moving to at AUGUSTA.
- 9:55Speaker 2: How about that?
- 9:56Speaker 6: I mean, so with with the Lakers losing yesterday, a
- 10:00Speaker 6: head he played by Lebron to be like, guys, I'm
- 10:02Speaker 6: gonna take the blame for this one, because nobody's really
- 10:05Speaker 6: blaming Lebron for losing Game four when he's the reason
- 10:09Speaker 6: why they're up three.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Oh right, No, nobody's blaming Lebron.
- 10:14Speaker 4: He's doing all the right things.
- 10:15Speaker 2: But him saying that is is just it's so Lebron.
- 10:19Speaker 6: He wants people to look at him and be like,
- 10:21Speaker 6: remember the games one through three?
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, But as he knows this, he knows how calculated
- 10:25Speaker 1: and how much thought Lebron puts into this, this type
- 10:27Speaker 1: of stuff.
- 10:28Speaker 5: I mean, you know that he he wants to be liked,
- 10:31Speaker 5: He wants everybody to see, look at me. I'm doing
- 10:33Speaker 5: the right things. I'm such a leader even in a loss. Yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 5: it'sbody to take the blame.
- 10:36Speaker 1: He wants to sway you away from the bad games
- 10:38Speaker 1: and remind you of the good games.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Of course that's what he wants, of course, And now
- 10:42Speaker 5: you know, maybe he's gonna get some reinforcements with Austin Reeves.
- 10:45Speaker 5: I still feel like, look, I know this is that
- 10:47Speaker 5: thing crazy, Okay, but the Rockets had Game three. They
- 10:52Speaker 5: absolutely had Game three. I think only there's only been
- 10:55Speaker 5: two losses of that sort. You know, figure out the
- 10:57Speaker 5: time and whatever and the score in NBA playoff history
- 11:00Speaker 5: without Durant, Yes, right, And so.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I think game five might be a big question mark.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Like I think, especially if if they do get back.
- 11:08Speaker 5: In Austin Reeves, who will be a little you know,
- 11:11Speaker 5: probably rusty, you would think coming back from injury. I
- 11:14Speaker 5: think there's a little bit more pressure on the Lakers.
- 11:16Speaker 5: I think you got a little bit of what can
- 11:19Speaker 5: I call that just freedom from Alpi Shangoun, Like I
- 11:23Speaker 5: don't think. I think he's tired of everybody blaming him
- 11:26Speaker 5: for everything. So he's playing his butt off and he's
- 11:28Speaker 5: doing well, and I think he'll play well for the
- 11:30Speaker 5: rest of the series.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Let's be honest. He's tired of Durant blaming him for everything.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I mean he is.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Everyone's tired of Durant. I mean, who's not tired of Durant?
- 11:38Speaker 1: He wears on you manage.
- 11:40Speaker 3: What is going on with Kevin Durant.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Where I'm watching ESPN is he and David Menniman is
- 11:46Speaker 6: on the Rockets like practice court, and he's saying that
- 11:50Speaker 6: Katie's teammates have no idea what's going on with him,
- 11:52Speaker 6: and whether Katie is rehabbing away from the team, and
- 11:55Speaker 6: whether his teammates have been checking in on him. Nobody
- 11:58Speaker 6: seems like they have any answer, you know, what's happening
- 12:01Speaker 6: with I.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Haven't read the Houston papers yet, so I probably need
- 12:03Speaker 5: to do that before I get full information Ronicle. But
- 12:11Speaker 5: I think a lot of the stuff between them as
- 12:13Speaker 5: teammates or them supposedly not liking each other is largely overblown.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I've been watching the Rockets all season long.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Even after the burner account thing during the All Star Game,
- 12:23Speaker 5: there wasn't any discernible issue or obvious, you know, issues
- 12:27Speaker 5: with the team personally. They actually went on a winning
- 12:29Speaker 5: streak after the All Star break, And if I'm gonna
- 12:32Speaker 5: throw a theory out there, I'm gonna say that I don't.
- 12:36Speaker 5: I think Lebron's and Lebron's Kadie's initial knee injury happened
- 12:39Speaker 5: in a practice leading up to the playoffs, and I
- 12:42Speaker 5: think he's probably annoyed that they had to get to
- 12:44Speaker 5: that point, right, that they that they practiced to the
- 12:46Speaker 5: point where he injured his knee and then missed a
- 12:49Speaker 5: game and then came back and injured his ankle, and
- 12:51Speaker 5: all these things, you know, probably just one on top
- 12:54Speaker 5: of the other, just annoying him. And I don't think
- 12:56Speaker 5: this has anything to do with his teammates, Like, I
- 12:58Speaker 5: don't see any particular reason why he would be either
- 13:01Speaker 5: sitting out for without an injury, which is ridiculous.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Or mad at his guys for for what.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Like I mean, I understand the end of Game three,
- 13:09Speaker 5: but that had nothing to do with you know, the
- 13:10Speaker 5: previous It's just it doesn't make sense why he would
- 13:13Speaker 5: be upset with them at this particular time.
- 13:16Speaker 2: He's quitting on his team. That's what it feels.
- 13:17Speaker 4: That's what it feels like.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, you play seventy eight of eighty two games
- 13:21Speaker 1: in the regular season. You don't quit on your team
- 13:23Speaker 1: in the postseason once things get rough.
- 13:25Speaker 3: I mean, that's not what you do.
- 13:26Speaker 2: And that's what Kevin Durant does.
- 13:28Speaker 5: That doesn't like, it doesn't track whatsoever like in terms
- 13:31Speaker 5: of what like. So you think that he quit on them,
- 13:35Speaker 5: is calling it for this year and saying I'll be
- 13:37Speaker 5: back next year boys, or you're saying, hey, he's gonna
- 13:40Speaker 5: try another team now, because I think he's done jumping
- 13:42Speaker 5: from team to team to team.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I don't think he has a choice but to jump
- 13:46Speaker 1: from team to team to team. I mean, you think
- 13:48Speaker 1: he's coming back to Houston next year.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Yes, I think it's a lot more chance that he
- 13:51Speaker 5: comes back and they rebuild some stuff.
- 13:53Speaker 4: So I think Shengoon might be on the trade block.
- 13:55Speaker 5: I think ima Udoka might be a question mark in
- 13:58Speaker 5: terms of whether he returns, regardless of that extension that
- 14:01Speaker 5: they gave him last summer. Because if KD comes back
- 14:04Speaker 5: and you know, a man is a little bit better,
- 14:06Speaker 5: and you know, they find a high quality piece that
- 14:09Speaker 5: maybe fits them better than Shang Goon, They're they're going
- 14:12Speaker 5: to have super high expectations again. And so, uh yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 5: I think Kevin Durant is more than like seventy five
- 14:19Speaker 5: percent chance.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yah, I'll be back with the Rocket.
- 14:21Speaker 6: But to Due's point, this is the Kevin Durant playbook,
- 14:24Speaker 6: where he goes to a team that's pretty young and
- 14:27Speaker 6: pretty exciting. Then he kind of ruins all the vibes
- 14:29Speaker 6: around those teams, and then he's on his way out
- 14:32Speaker 6: and he's kind of blaming everybody. He's on his Burner
- 14:35Speaker 6: account saying how flawed the Rockets roster is.
- 14:37Speaker 4: So who did he do that with?
- 14:39Speaker 2: Right?
- 14:39Speaker 5: So he did that with the Thunder. Let's go all
- 14:42Speaker 5: the way back.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Well, he started with Oklahoma City.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He was up three one Western Conference Finals, he lost
- 14:47Speaker 1: that to the Golden Ship Warriors. The Burners won the
- 14:49Speaker 1: NBA Championship, and then Durant decided to join him the
- 14:52Speaker 1: Burner's coward.
- 14:53Speaker 5: I mean, that's what the Burner stuff happened after he
- 14:56Speaker 5: had left, where he was still sort of arguing with
- 14:59Speaker 5: fans sort of reasonings why he left. Oh, he didn't
- 15:02Speaker 5: like Billy Donovan, he couldn't play with any of those
- 15:05Speaker 5: other guys, blah blah blah. He took the easy path,
- 15:07Speaker 5: so he didn't do that to the Warriors. He didn't
- 15:09Speaker 5: ruin the fun of the Warriors and talk, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 5: did he talk about them on the way out?
- 15:14Speaker 4: Did he ruin what was going on there?
- 15:16Speaker 1: I don't think he had a great relationship with Draymond
- 15:18Speaker 1: and stuff.
- 15:18Speaker 2: On the way out, right.
- 15:19Speaker 5: I don't think he had a great relationship with Draymond.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Then obviously that last year that into.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Well because Draymond was on to him.
- 15:24Speaker 1: He was like, hey, we didn't even need you and
- 15:26Speaker 1: you still came here, Like who does that?
- 15:28Speaker 4: Okay?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Right?
- 15:30Speaker 5: With Brooklyn, he didn't have a young team, right, and
- 15:32Speaker 5: largely when you have these super teams, you're gonna have
- 15:34Speaker 5: to have some young pieces around you because you're gonna
- 15:36Speaker 5: have to have some inexpensive pieces around you.
- 15:37Speaker 4: They're not all going to be veterans, right, And.
- 15:39Speaker 1: How was his Like his relationship with Kyrie when he
- 15:42Speaker 1: went to Brooklyn was great? How was it towards the end?
- 15:44Speaker 1: I remember it kind of petering out towards the end.
- 15:47Speaker 5: I just what I remember more is Kyrie's time there
- 15:50Speaker 5: and what is what is Kevin's supposed to do with that?
- 15:53Speaker 5: Like he's supposed to, you know, put him under his
- 15:55Speaker 5: wing and say don't worry. We'll go through this regardless
- 15:57Speaker 5: of what you do. It was a little nutty for
- 15:59Speaker 5: Kyrie there, so it's hard to really blame their relationship
- 16:03Speaker 5: or KD for their relationship. I think Katie and James
- 16:05Speaker 5: got along just fine even though they ended up on
- 16:07Speaker 5: different teams.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I mean, you're going a long ways here and protecting Kevin.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Durant the Suns.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, I'm asking questions literally, but no, I.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Know you are, but I don't have the right answers
- 16:19Speaker 1: that Kevin Durant is supposed to be this generational player
- 16:22Speaker 1: who it doesn't matter who his teammates are. As long
- 16:25Speaker 1: as you have Kevin Durant, and he's one of the
- 16:27Speaker 1: five guys you have on the court for eighty eighty
- 16:30Speaker 1: five ninety percent of the time, your team should be
- 16:33Speaker 1: championship good. Right, that's the type of player we portrayed
- 16:37Speaker 1: him to be, right.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Yeah, And this team won fifty two games with him
- 16:41Speaker 5: playing largely, and he's missed what three of these playoff games,
- 16:44Speaker 5: and the conversation is just about whether he gets along
- 16:48Speaker 5: with his teammates. He's not on the floor during this
- 16:51Speaker 5: series during most of this series, Like, what does that
- 16:53Speaker 5: have to do, Like does he not get along with them?
- 16:55Speaker 5: And that's why they lost Game three? Like I don't
- 16:58Speaker 5: really get it. I don't really get where people or
- 17:00Speaker 5: takeing this conversation.
- 17:01Speaker 4: It's not you.
- 17:01Speaker 5: I've heard it all day long, all day yesterday. It's like,
- 17:04Speaker 5: what are we talking about here? It's just a coincidence.
- 17:07Speaker 5: It's maybe it's all circumstantial. I'm not sure, but this
- 17:10Speaker 5: is also thirty six, thirty seven year old Kevin Durant.
- 17:13Speaker 5: He's not what he was in twenty sixteen. He is
- 17:15Speaker 5: not a guy that you can say, give the ball
- 17:17Speaker 5: to every single time and the Rockets are gonna be great.
- 17:19Speaker 5: You've got to find ways to utilize him better. And
- 17:23Speaker 5: this is where I get angry with emy Udoka. There's
- 17:25Speaker 5: a clip online. It's an old clip of Steph Curry
- 17:27Speaker 5: where he's talking to his campers where he talks about
- 17:29Speaker 5: coming out here and begging for the ball at the
- 17:31Speaker 5: top of the circle is the weakest play in basketball,
- 17:34Speaker 5: and in this offense, Kevin Durant is doing that sixty
- 17:37Speaker 5: percent of the time because that's the only place they
- 17:39Speaker 5: find him the basketball or they find, you know, find
- 17:41Speaker 5: ways to get him the basketball, and he has to
- 17:43Speaker 5: do that, and it does not set up for good offense.
- 17:45Speaker 5: And so to me, it's pretty clear they need a
- 17:49Speaker 5: different offense, if you will, I don't know if it
- 17:51Speaker 5: needs a new head coach. Maybe they like the head coach,
- 17:52Speaker 5: but they definitely need a more innovative offense.
- 17:55Speaker 2: It feels like this ends up with Durant on the Heat.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I mean, I got it, wow, I mean again, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: as he's recruiting him, I mean.
- 18:02Speaker 6: I'm already preparing the graphic Durant and Kawhi Leonard in
- 18:06Speaker 6: a Heat uniform and they only have to tradeas.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I'm not sure how this goes from me saying I
- 18:13Speaker 5: think there's a larger chance of him returning to theas
- 18:18Speaker 5: is off the table.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Going to the.
- 18:23Speaker 7: Reading between the lines.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Is he That's where I draw the line.
- 18:29Speaker 3: You have Drew Smith.
- 18:33Speaker 2: For both.
- 18:34Speaker 4: I like Drew Smith. He's the biggest, the biggest, the
- 18:37Speaker 4: biggest pest in the NBA. Really no, seriously, not Caruso.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Uh no, okay, wow, upset, But you are trying to
- 18:48Speaker 2: recruit Kevin Durant zero percent.
- 18:51Speaker 1: But whatever works for you, would Kawhi and Kevin Durant
- 18:54Speaker 1: win a championship down here he's play forty games separately.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Do we keep Drew Smith and Yaki? Yes? Good with

- 21:05Speaker 2: is this series?
- 21:06Speaker 3: At this series?
- 21:07Speaker 2: I have not been paying attention to just Nixon Hawks.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Of why am I waiting till Wednesday for Game three?
- 21:11Speaker 2: All right?
- 21:12Speaker 5: What if I told you that Dante DiVincenzo is out
- 21:15Speaker 5: for the year with an achilles injury, that Anthony Edwards
- 21:20Speaker 5: was helped off the floor with a knee injury, and
- 21:24Speaker 5: that one of these two teams is up three to one.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Which one would you say it was?
- 21:30Speaker 2: I would say Denver, Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 4: No, it's Minnesota.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Minnesota has been dominating basically since game one. And I
- 21:38Speaker 5: don't know if you could see on that screen there,
- 21:40Speaker 5: but that's the fastest Nikola jokicch has ever run before.
- 21:42Speaker 5: And that was when he went to confront Jaden McDaniels
- 21:46Speaker 5: for scoring a layup in the final seconds of a blowout.
- 21:49Speaker 5: And that was with you ready for this Io de
- 21:53Speaker 5: Soummu scoring scoring forty three, It's either forty one or
- 21:57Speaker 5: forty three points in that game that had Anthony Edwards
- 22:00Speaker 5: finished with five points because of the injury, and again
- 22:03Speaker 5: Dante DiVincenzo barely played because of his injury. And it
- 22:08Speaker 5: seems like Rudy Gobert has the cheat code against nikolajokicud.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yes, because a Jokic could play some defense there in
- 22:17Speaker 1: that spot, I mean played to the final second, let's
- 22:19Speaker 1: go going after Jada McDaniels, And Jada McDaniels was right.
- 22:22Speaker 2: They figured him out I mean.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Yes, it was just super late.
- 22:27Speaker 5: But I don't know what it is about Rudy Gobert.
- 22:30Speaker 5: But especially in this series, Nikolajokic looks like a terrible
- 22:34Speaker 5: basketball player, Like and you know, his game is always
- 22:37Speaker 5: like on the verge of looking like a terrible player
- 22:40Speaker 5: because he takes some janky shots. Who're just like, oh no,
- 22:43Speaker 5: it went in so clearly that's a good shot. But
- 22:46Speaker 5: when those shots start to miss, and when he starts
- 22:48Speaker 5: taking all these little loopy loop.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Up in unders and they don't even.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Go, he's he looks terrible.
- 22:53Speaker 4: It's very confusing.
- 22:55Speaker 6: The best part of the Jokic McDaniel's clip is you
- 23:00Speaker 6: see Mike Conley passing passing the ball up court, and
- 23:03Speaker 6: Mike Conley immediately puts his head down because Mike Conley's like,
- 23:07Speaker 6: oh no, I know exactly what I did here, passing
- 23:09Speaker 6: the ball to Jada McDaniels for a breakaway dunk.
- 23:12Speaker 5: He said it after the game too, He's like, oh no,
- 23:14Speaker 5: as soon as I threw it, I was like, oh no,
- 23:16Speaker 5: that's Jaden. And then he's like, I deserve a fine
- 23:18Speaker 5: for that one.
- 23:19Speaker 4: It's all my.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Conley, Come on, I mean, the seeone Conley stands for
- 23:22Speaker 1: kg Vett.
- 23:23Speaker 2: He knew what he was doing.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Also, is he the for the people that missed the
- 23:28Speaker 6: Io Desumo game? How many teams did the Chicago Bulls
- 23:34Speaker 6: make better at the trade deadline? Because you see the
- 23:36Speaker 6: Bulls trade Desumu, you see the Bulls trade Kobe White,
- 23:40Speaker 6: and you're watching some of these guys play together and
- 23:42Speaker 6: be like, did the Bulls not just have a pretty
- 23:44Speaker 6: good team?
- 23:45Speaker 4: And yeah, figure it out.
- 23:47Speaker 5: They had so much duplication of talent. They basically had
- 23:52Speaker 5: six guys where you can say, hey, if you lead
- 23:54Speaker 5: us in whatever usage or a ball handling.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Or our leading guard, you will look like an All Star.
- 24:00Speaker 5: Was Desumu, it was Kobe White, it was Josh Giddy,
- 24:03Speaker 5: Like they just had so many of these guys, and yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 5: they picked Giddy, I guess and then traded Desumu, Kobe
- 24:10Speaker 5: and part of their rebuild. And they're just showing you
- 24:12Speaker 5: what they could have done if given the opportunity.
- 24:15Speaker 1: To Isy's point, Jokich over the last two games is
- 24:18Speaker 1: fifteen of forty eight. I don't understand, like it's crazy,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but didn't they get Gobert in large part to stop
- 24:26Speaker 1: Nicola jokicch Yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and a lot of people moped that, you know, well.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Because they give up so much for him. But the
- 24:31Speaker 5: move in itself in terms of basketball made sense.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Right, I mean, he's been terrible, You're right. I'm looking
- 24:36Speaker 1: at the stats right now. I've never seen joke well
- 24:38Speaker 1: I haven't watched it, but just looking at the box scores,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I've I've never seen lines like this.
- 24:43Speaker 2: For djok itch.
- 24:44Speaker 4: But this is the interesting part too.
- 24:45Speaker 5: So if you watch I saw the Anthony Edwards replay
- 24:49Speaker 5: a few times, looks like essentially a severe hyper extension, right,
- 24:55Speaker 5: So I don't think there's any real damage in there,
- 24:56Speaker 5: at least not enough damage it's going to keep him
- 24:58Speaker 5: out for the rest of the series. But if you
- 25:00Speaker 5: have a not one hundred percent Anthony Edwards and you've
- 25:03Speaker 5: got obviously no DiVincenzo, this is a great position, right
- 25:08Speaker 5: to be down three to one, if you're Denver and
- 25:10Speaker 5: think you can make this comeback. Because if you're saying,
- 25:12Speaker 5: all right, Nikole Joki's three time MVP, figure it out
- 25:16Speaker 5: against uh well four time dpoy U Rudy Gobert, and
- 25:20Speaker 5: you're saying, hey, figure it out against Asumu, we've got
- 25:23Speaker 5: to be able to stop that guy. I think the
- 25:25Speaker 5: Nuggets probably feel really good at least about going into
- 25:28Speaker 5: a game six back in Minnesota. And then, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 5: a lot of nerves happen if you're not at full
- 25:33Speaker 5: strength with Minnesota.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And I mean, perhaps Djoki the MVP should figure out, Hey,
- 25:38Speaker 1: I'm twenty three of sixty eight or the last three games.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Stop shooting.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I gotta facilitate, I gotta pass, I got to rebound.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I gotta do the small thing. Stop fighting with Jada
- 25:47Speaker 1: McDaniel's played defense for forty eight fucking minutes, okay, and
- 25:51Speaker 1: do better than twenty three of sixty Stop shooting.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I'm telling him to do well. He's getting he's been
- 25:55Speaker 2: bad for three games now.
- 25:57Speaker 5: They're getting bullied everywhere on the court, he's off the court,
- 26:00Speaker 5: in the interview room, They're just getting bullied. And so
- 26:02Speaker 5: it just begs the question like it's this isn't going
- 26:05Speaker 5: to affect Nikola Jok's legacy.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Really, no one cares about his legacy, right, I mean.
- 26:13Speaker 5: But it's if this keeps happening, s dude, Like if
- 26:15Speaker 5: this is the downside, like he had his peak and
- 26:17Speaker 5: this is you know, this is supposed to be Jokic
- 26:20Speaker 5: better than he was in his MVPs. Like he I
- 26:23Speaker 5: think he thinks he's better than he was three or
- 26:25Speaker 5: four years ago. And you can't go out in the
- 26:28Speaker 5: first round to a Minnesota team that's falling apart right
- 26:30Speaker 5: in front of your eyes.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I didn't really know how.
- 26:34Speaker 1: To do they Just listen, just let it come naturally.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Try to force these things.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I never try to force right right, never natural laughter
- 26:44Speaker 4: at all times.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So all right, we've covered Nuggets and Timberwolves, Lakers at Rockets,
- 26:49Speaker 1: and heating Hawks.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Why am I waiting till Tuesday.
- 26:51Speaker 4: For a big game five eating Hawks? H?
- 26:54Speaker 2: I mean the next at Hawks? Excuse me?
- 26:56Speaker 4: Your true?
- 26:58Speaker 2: Well, I have Durant Kawhi on my mind. Is he's recruitment.
- 27:05Speaker 4: I'm certainly not recruiting Kevin Durant.
- 27:07Speaker 5: I would recruit Joel emb because I think the Sixers
- 27:10Speaker 5: need to move on from that.
- 27:11Speaker 1: That was interesting because the question today is should the
- 27:14Speaker 1: Sixers move on from Joe l embiid?
- 27:16Speaker 4: Well, I've been saying that for a couple of years.
- 27:17Speaker 1: There have been is he to your credit, you said
- 27:19Speaker 1: that two years ago, you said it before anyone else.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Well, I just don't think that.
- 27:23Speaker 5: I think I said at the begin Yeah, when I
- 27:24Speaker 5: first started on Oddball, I think I might have said
- 27:26Speaker 5: it again. It's just where's the payoff, Like, there's just
- 27:29Speaker 5: so many opportunities that you had where hey, if he's
- 27:33Speaker 5: healthy and playing well, we can do well.
- 27:36Speaker 2: You're over right, you're offer.
- 27:37Speaker 5: You've gone through this to the second round and nothing
- 27:41Speaker 5: nothing past that. And so you see that you could
- 27:44Speaker 5: have the best backcourt in the league for let's say
- 27:47Speaker 5: five or six years running, TJ MAXI and I'm sorry,
- 27:51Speaker 5: TJ MAXI you see.
- 27:53Speaker 2: What I did there?
- 27:54Speaker 5: It's j Edgecob, yes, right, and it's you mixed up.
- 27:59Speaker 5: And then I went shout being at TJ Max somewhere
- 28:01Speaker 5: in between it all.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yes, I saw what you did. And now you see
- 28:04Speaker 1: what I did with the Heat, right.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Yeah, of course, yeah, you really like the heat and
- 28:08Speaker 5: that's it's your real team. But they could have the
- 28:12Speaker 5: best backcourt in the league. And look at what happens
- 28:15Speaker 5: when Joel Embi comes back. Not only does he come
- 28:17Speaker 5: back and start, which why did he have to start?
- 28:19Speaker 5: Not only does he come back and take the most shots?
- 28:21Speaker 5: Why did he have to take the most shots? But
- 28:24Speaker 5: Edgecomb turns into a non factor.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Well, MAXI had three shots at the half, yeah, yes,
- 28:29Speaker 1: and Edgecomb who just had forty right.
- 28:32Speaker 5: In a game nothing, a non factor. And then Peyton
- 28:35Speaker 5: Pritchard's going out there and lighting you up. It's just like,
- 28:38Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure one has to do with the other.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Like when you're playing with good vibes and everybody's feeling good,
- 28:43Speaker 5: you're playing better defense, more active defense. They let Peyton
- 28:46Speaker 5: Pritcher do whatever you wanted to.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Yeah, the best series thus far is a series that
- 28:50Speaker 1: no one cares about, right, I mean the Calves and
- 28:53Speaker 1: the Raptors.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Well, yeah, no one cares.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Not only does no one really care about it, even though.
- 28:58Speaker 5: It's two to two, if you actually pay attention to
- 29:00Speaker 5: the last two games, you're watching a rock fight.
- 29:02Speaker 2: It's just terrible.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Yeah, terrible offense.
- 29:04Speaker 6: It depends who you ask if it's the best series,
- 29:07Speaker 6: because the first three quarters of that game was borderline
- 29:11Speaker 6: on watching.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I know, but it's too too.
- 29:13Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know if Stu wants to bring
- 29:16Speaker 5: back his everybody wants a good, like three to two
- 29:19Speaker 5: playoff game or in the NFL for good defense or whatever,
- 29:22Speaker 5: but nobody wants to see this, especially when You've got
- 29:25Speaker 5: players like Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. Like those guys,
