- 1:59June.
- 2:00So again, welcome, everyone.
- 2:01This is Inspirations for Your Life.
- 2:03It's series five, show 11, episode number one.
- 2:07Forge your inner power.
- 2:09That's what this whole week is about, forging
- 2:11your inner power, intentional action, and clarity.
- 2:14Oh, who am I?
- 2:15Oh, sure.
- 2:16I'm John C.
- 2:17Morley, serial entrepreneur.
- 2:18I'm an engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast
- 2:21host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student, and a
- 2:24passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:26This episode focuses on how cultivating awareness, clarity,
- 2:30and intentional action can amplify your personal power
- 2:33and help you take control of your life.
- 2:36Today, like I said, is Saturday.
- 2:37Today, it is March 7th.
- 2:40And we're all about awareness and mindful action
- 2:42today.
- 2:44So awareness transforms unconscious habits into intentional actions.
- 2:48Every moment is nothing more than a choice
- 2:51of our life.
- 2:52Pausing before reacting multiplies decision impact.
- 2:57Hesitation is a superpower, guys.
- 3:00Observing patterns prevents repeated mistakes.
- 3:02Your past is your teacher.
- 3:05Yes, it is.
- 3:05Every small choice reinforces self-trust.
- 3:09Trust builds momentum.
- 3:11Deliberate micro-actions compound into lasting change.
- 3:15Tiny wins become breakthroughs, guys.
- 3:18So avoid energy, draining distractions, protect your mental
- 3:22bandwidth.
- 3:23Mindful attention enhances intuitive decision-making.
- 3:26Clarity comes from, yes, presence.
- 3:29Observation reduces the risk of impulsive errors.
- 3:33Noticing that before acting is the key.
- 3:36I've always said to you that we need
- 3:37to be more proactive instead of reactive.
- 3:40I used the example of a fire a
- 3:42long time ago.
- 3:43You need to be prepared for the what
- 3:45-if fire.
- 3:46You need to know how to handle things,
- 3:48not when the fire happens, but before the
- 3:50fire.
- 3:51Awareness, guys, clarifies daily priorities.
- 3:54Focus your energy where it matters.
- 3:57Focused attention protects mental bandwidth.
- 3:59Guard your mind like a vault.
- 4:03Recognize impulses before they hijack your energy.
- 4:07Awareness is control.
- 4:08You know what's really important in our life?
- 4:10Our energy and also our time.
- 4:12Those are two very important things.
- 4:14Mindfulness clears mental clutter.
- 4:16Simplicity drives effectiveness.
- 4:18Lots of people want to make things more
- 4:20complicated and hard, but they don't need to
- 4:22be.
- 4:22They just need to be mindful of what
- 4:24they have and make things simpler and things
- 4:27can grow.
- 4:28Being present is important because it increases the
- 4:32effectiveness.
- 4:33And I tell you to stop multitasking and
- 4:35start mastering.
- 4:36So many people I know want to multitask.
- 4:38Why?
- 4:39Because they think that is the way they
- 4:42should be going.
- 4:43That's the way it appears to them.
- 4:45They think that they should be doing that,
- 4:47but not necessarily are doing that.
- 4:50And I think that's an important thing for
- 4:52a lot of people to understand is that
- 4:56we have to be mindful of these situations,
- 4:59all right?
- 5:01Notice forbidden traps.
- 5:03Before falling, awareness creates boundaries.
- 5:09Now, I don't say that to scare you.
- 5:10I say that so that you are, let's
- 5:14say, on track with it, okay?
- 5:18Awareness converts obstacles into opportunities.
- 5:22When we become aware of something, we pay
- 5:25attention to it and then our mind focuses
- 5:28on it and suddenly everything else kind of
- 5:31fades in the distance and we actually see
- 5:32that challenge as an opportunity and we can
- 5:35use that as leverage.
- 5:36Not something we should fear, not something we
- 5:39should run away from.
- 5:40Just because something is different or uncomfortable doesn't
- 5:44mean it's not good for us.
- 5:46Well, take lima beans, take broccoli.
- 5:48I know when I was younger, I never
- 5:50used to like lima beans or broccoli or
- 5:52anything like that.
- 5:52And I tried them, didn't like them.
- 5:55And then later on, I grew a taste
- 5:56for them and I actually felt they're good
- 5:57for me.
- 5:58Another thing was liver.
- 6:00My grandmother on my dad's side, his mother,
- 6:04would make liver.
- 6:06And everybody else would give him things like,
- 6:07oh, liver.
- 6:08But she made it, I tried it, and
- 6:11everybody was like, tell me, oh, you're gonna
- 6:12hate it.
- 6:12And I had, and I loved it.
- 6:14So I think being open is important to
- 6:18change and also important to us becoming a
- 6:21better version of ourself.
- 6:23Detect harmful patterns early for resilience.
- 6:25This is a big key.
- 6:27When you're a pattern recognizer, that's what insurance
- 6:30people do, right?
- 6:31They look for patterns.
- 6:33And if there's a certain pattern, well, then
- 6:34they try to see if that person falls
- 6:37in that pattern.
- 6:37If they do, oh, and they either raise
- 6:40their rates, possibly lower them or take another
- 6:43action.
- 6:44So resilience prevention beats repair.
- 6:48We need to be resilient every day and
- 6:49we need to get better at it.
- 6:51It's not about becoming the best in 24
- 6:53hours.
- 6:54It's about understanding how we can make a
- 6:56difference in our lives.
- 6:58That's really, I think, the most important thing
- 7:00I can tell you.
- 7:01It's about making that difference in our lives.
- 7:04And when we talk about making difference, I
- 7:06think that's something that a lot of people,
- 7:08I don't know, I think they just don't
- 7:10quite understand like what that means.
- 7:12Making a difference is something a lot of
- 7:14people out there get fearful about, why?
- 7:18Well, because they don't think that they can
- 7:19do something.
- 7:20And that belief is 99% of why
- 7:24they're not getting it done.
- 7:26So conscious living, guys, sustains focus.
- 7:29Autopilot drains potential.
- 7:30We talked about this before.
- 7:31It's very easy to engage autopilot.
- 7:34Autopilot not only can suck up your energy,
- 7:36it also can suck up your time.
- 7:38And our time, I don't know about you,
- 7:39is extremely precious.
- 7:41So we need to make sure that we're
- 7:42using every moment, every second in a manner
- 7:45that is gonna be best for our life
- 7:47and others.
- 7:48Awareness strengthens emotional control.
- 7:51Calmness is strength.
- 7:52Mindful choices accelerate growth.
- 7:55Intentionality compounds it.
- 7:58So we make the choice, but when we've
- 8:00made a choice that's intentional, that's when it
- 8:02compounds, all right?
- 8:04Awareness sharpens judgment under pressure.
- 8:07Clarity prevails in chaos, in chaos.
- 8:12So if you wanna get rid of that,
- 8:15you wanna get rid of that challenge that
- 8:19you're having, get rid of the chaos.
- 8:22And you'll see clarity will return to you
- 8:24almost immediately.
- 8:26Correct energy, guys, leaks before it expands.
- 8:34Vigilance preserves power.
- 8:37So that's talking about conserving energy.
- 8:39That's talking about conserving time.
- 8:40That's what it's about, guys.
- 8:43It's about knowing, not every minute, but knowing
- 8:47that I'm gonna do this task, do that
- 8:48task.
- 8:48Now, before I did the show today, I
- 8:50actually had studying to do.
- 8:51I'm getting ready for a midterm.
- 8:53And in my master's class, I'm taking basically
- 8:59advanced computers and assembly.
- 9:03And it's not that this stuff is hard,
- 9:06but it needs practice.
- 9:08Because when you do it multiple times, it
- 9:11just comes on autopilot.
- 9:13And that's a good autopilot.
- 9:14That's an autopilot that kind of gets you
- 9:16through the flow.
- 9:17That's not an autopilot that's gonna waste my
- 9:18time.
- 9:19So by putting in time now, which a
- 9:21lot of people don't study weeks before, the
- 9:23exam is actually on March 18th.
- 9:24And I started studying well before that.
- 9:27There's only 20 questions that are multiple choice
- 9:30and other two that are like essay.
- 9:34And enjoying studying is something that I really
- 9:39feel good about.
- 9:41Because when I learn this stuff, and when
- 9:43I use these principles, I'm like, I own
- 9:45this.
- 9:46And I feel so great that I have
- 9:47these tools right in my back pocket.
- 9:51Awareness, guys, fuels quiet confidence.
- 9:54Inner power is built, it's not shown.
- 9:58Intentional attention prevents regret.
- 10:02Make choices you can own.
- 10:04I know a lot of people that rush
- 10:06for choices.
- 10:06And unfortunately, when they rush for choices, they're
- 10:10not the right choice.
- 10:12I think that happens because a lot of
- 10:15people just don't, they just don't get why
- 10:18something's not working.
- 10:20And I know a lot of you're saying
- 10:22to me, John, that makes sense, but it
- 10:25doesn't affect me.
- 10:27It does.
- 10:28First of all, I wanna tell you something.
- 10:30And I know a lot of you may
- 10:30not agree with me.
- 10:32If you are playing the game of denial,
- 10:35which is not a river in Egypt, it
- 10:37most definitely is affecting you.
- 10:40Now, whether you wanna admit it, that's up
- 10:41to you.
- 10:42Now, you don't have to admit it publicly,
- 10:43but you do need to admit it to
- 10:45yourself because if you don't acknowledge it, how
- 10:47are you ever gonna make a change in
- 10:49your life?
- 10:49That is probably one of the most important
- 10:52things that I can tell you.
- 10:54If you don't make that change, then I
- 10:56feel that a lot of things are gonna
- 10:58potentially, oh, they're potentially gonna go wrong for
- 11:01you.
- 11:02Not because you want them to go wrong,
- 11:04but just because you're not prepared for the
- 11:09situation.
- 11:11Align actions with values.
- 11:14Integrity fuels momentum, guys.
- 11:17Awareness uncovers hidden opportunities.
- 11:20What you see guides you.
- 11:23What you see guides you.
- 11:24Micro decisions create outsized impact.
- 11:28Small wins drive transformation.
- 11:31Small wins, not big wins, small wins.
- 11:34Awareness multiplies clarity and focus.
- 11:38Attention compounds the results, okay?
- 11:41Mindful action builds momentum.
- 11:44We like momentum, right?
- 11:46Deliberate steps accelerate the progress.
- 11:49So mindful action gets the engine started, okay?
- 11:54And once we have that, the engine gets
- 11:59started, okay?
- 12:00But when we take deliberate steps while the
- 12:03engine's running we accelerate our progress.
- 12:06We get the engine to work much more
- 12:08efficiently.
- 12:11Awareness fortifies identity.
- 12:13Self-trust shapes the character.
- 12:16I've talked a lot about character before, right?
- 12:19Character has to do with who you are
- 12:21right now, who you're becoming.
- 12:23And character actually gets defined with you by
- 12:25what people don't see.
- 12:28So the you that is around when you're
- 12:33alone actually helps define the public you, right?
- 12:37That's an important thing.
- 12:38So living deliberately begins, guys, with noticing.
- 12:43Presence is the foundation of personal power, presence.
- 12:48Presence, awareness, being mindful.
- 12:52You might say, gee, John, this is all
- 12:54about meditation.
- 12:57No, meditation's a very big help for this.
- 13:00In your life, if things are all out
- 13:02of whack and you're wondering why you're not
- 13:04connecting to opportunities, I'm gonna tell you why.
- 13:06It's because you're focused on the past, you're
- 13:09focused on what went wrong, and you need
- 13:11to focus on the future, okay?
- 13:14You also need to focus on what Neville
- 13:16Goddard said, which is living the feeling of
- 13:18the wish fulfilled.
- 13:19He taught something really great and so did
- 13:21this other guy, Joseph, teach something well.
- 13:23And that is, it is done.
- 13:28Very powerful, let me say it again.
- 13:30It is done.
- 13:32Whatever you're trying to do, it is done.
- 13:36It is done.
- 13:37You feel how that feels?
- 13:38It is done.
- 13:40Just like relaxes your body and takes away
- 13:44any stress.
- 13:53Show, commentary, and insight.
- 13:57You know, we've talked about a lot of
- 13:59important things today, and hearing things are great,
- 14:03seeing things are great, but you know what
- 14:06really makes the difference, what really moves the
- 14:09needle?
- 14:10It's doing.
- 14:12Now you might say, John, I'm an auditorial
- 14:14learner, or I'm a visual learner.
- 14:16Even if you're auditory or you're visual, I
- 14:19still wanna tell you that doing things kinesthetically
- 14:22and actually taking part of them really will
- 14:25keep that needle moving.
- 14:26So when I'm practicing for my test, it's
- 14:28not just listening, it's not just seeing, it's
- 14:31doing.
- 14:32It's actually taking the time to write out
- 14:35the problems, to practice them, and to self
- 14:39-navigate.
- 14:39So if I notice that something's wrong, like,
- 14:41oh, wait a minute, I gotta go back
- 14:42and double check.
- 14:43And there's other ways I can go back
- 14:44and check to see if I got the
- 14:46right answer.
- 14:47So one of the things we're doing right
- 14:48now is we're working in binary, which is
- 14:50base two, and we're also working in hex,
- 14:52which is base 16.
- 14:53I know what the answer should be, but
- 14:55I need to make sure I get it
- 14:56with the digits, if that makes sense.
- 14:59You know, when we get up every morning,
- 15:03okay?
- 15:04And the first thing you might notice could
- 15:07be your heartbeat.
- 15:09It could be the temperature of your skin
- 15:12against the blankets or the sheets.
- 15:14Maybe you notice the sound of your air
- 15:20conditioner.
- 15:20In your home, or your heat, right?
- 15:24Or maybe you notice something else.
- 15:28And that sound kind of grounds you.
- 15:34And after you notice that sound, you start
- 15:38to realize that you are present.
- 15:42Present, what does present mean?
- 15:47Present is to be here now.
- 15:51If you're listening to a friend and that
- 15:54friend is talking to you, and you are
- 15:57present with him or her, you're gonna hear
- 16:01what they're saying, not just the sounds, but
- 16:04you're gonna be able to tell what's going
- 16:06on.
- 16:07You're not trying to rebuttal it, guys.
- 16:10You're not trying to rebuttal.
- 16:12And I think that's an important thing to
- 16:15understand that you're not trying to rebuttal it.
- 16:18You're not trying to rebuttal it.
- 16:21And I know that's something you're probably saying
- 16:24to me, John, that sounds crazy.
- 16:27But I wanna tell you, it is not
- 16:29crazy.
- 16:30I wanna tell you that right now.
- 16:32It is not crazy, all right?
- 16:34It's not crazy.
- 16:36You can do this.
- 16:39But 95% of it comes from belief.
- 16:42We've talked about belief before, right?
- 16:44Belief is that stuff you can't touch or
- 16:48see, but it's part of you.
- 16:50And that is kind of the hidden fuel
- 16:55that could propel you forward, or it can
- 16:58act like a drag and pull you back.
- 17:02So many people I know are not present.
- 17:06They say they are, but then when you
- 17:10have a conversation with them, they're out in
- 17:12left field.
- 17:13I'll give you a perfect example.
- 17:14So a friend that I met recently, I
- 17:22could tell they weren't fully present all the
- 17:25time.
- 17:26Didn't make a big deal of it.
- 17:27And the first thing I said to myself
- 17:29is, their birthday's coming up, I'm gonna remember
- 17:32their birthday, okay?
- 17:35Of course, I got a thank you.
- 17:38Even for the holidays, I sent them some
- 17:39homemade cookies.
- 17:40But you know what happened when my birthday
- 17:42rolled around?
- 17:45Absolutely nothing.
- 17:47Okay, maybe the person didn't wanna send me
- 17:49a card.
- 17:50No big deal.
- 17:52Not even a acknowledgment of happy birthday on
- 17:57my Facebook wall, or even a text to
- 18:00say happy birthday.
- 18:02What I did get is some people just
- 18:05trying to tell me that, well, just, hey,
- 18:12how are you?
- 18:13I don't know about you guys, but hey,
- 18:15how are you?
- 18:16Is not being present for me, all right?
- 18:20It's not being present.
- 18:21Now, I don't ridicule anybody, but I know
- 18:25that that person is not in alignment with
- 18:27my energy.
- 18:29So I'm not gonna spend time with them.
- 18:32Does that make sense?
- 18:34So again, it's not about being judgmental, but
- 18:36it's about being around people that recognize your
- 18:39energy, that recognize presence, that appreciate presence, and
- 18:45that are present.
- 18:46I can be present for someone, but if
- 18:47they're not present for me, guess what?
- 18:50That's a one-way relationship, a one-way
- 18:52friendship.
- 18:56And when somebody texts you and just say,
- 18:58hey, how are you, but can't acknowledge when
- 19:03your birthday is, you might say, well, John,
- 19:04maybe they didn't know when your birthday was.
- 19:07Facebook kind of tells everybody when your birthday
- 19:08was.
- 19:09So I went through my wall a couple
- 19:10of times and say, maybe I missed their
- 19:13comment that said happy birthday, right?
- 19:15So I went through once after my birthday,
- 19:17and then a few weeks later, I went
- 19:18by and I'm like, nope, this person never
- 19:20wished me happy birthday.
- 19:22I went through all the several hundred people
- 19:24on Facebook that wished me happy birthday, which
- 19:27again, I'm very grateful for.
- 19:29So being present means that your actions are
- 19:34in alignment with your core values.
- 19:43Being present is about being truthful, guys.
- 19:45When you are present, what matters is the
- 19:52moment, not anything else.
- 19:55I've had other people that have not been
- 19:58present and I've written them off, not been
- 20:01nasty to them.
- 20:03I've just decided to move on with my
- 20:05life.
- 20:06Is that being rude?
- 20:08Is that being selfish?
- 20:09Is that being stuck up?
- 20:10No, it's being protective of my energy.
- 20:13And you should do the same thing.
- 20:17You should do the same thing.
- 20:20Be protective of your energy, be protective of
- 20:23your presence.
- 20:24And if other people are not present for
- 20:26you, well then, that's a big problem.
- 20:31That's a very, very big problem.
- 20:34And you gotta address it because if you
- 20:36don't address it, and if I would have
- 20:38went back to this person that texted me
- 20:40and said, hey, look, this is what's going
- 20:41on.
- 20:42If I would have went back to that
- 20:43person, then I could maybe, I could understand
- 20:54that, I could understand that.
- 21:02Maybe you don't understand it.
- 21:05Maybe you know what presence is, but you're,
- 21:11let's say, lying to yourself.
- 21:16And I know people do this because, oh,
- 21:18I wanna give him a break.
- 21:19Sure, I get it, give people a break.
- 21:22But when you are constantly present for someone,
- 21:25even if it's not every day, even if
- 21:26it's just once in a while, and they
- 21:27don't show up for you, or they show
- 21:29up in the wrong energy, that needs to
- 21:32change.
- 21:33Because my life is valuable, just like your
- 21:35life is valuable.
- 21:36And I don't wanna have my presence in
- 21:39the presence of someone else who's half present.
- 21:45That's disrespectful to my life.
- 21:48Just like I wouldn't want that for you.
- 21:50I would want you to be present with
- 21:51people, to meet with people.
- 21:53I don't care whether we're talking about business,
- 21:55personal life, whether these are relationships that are
- 21:59friends, or romantic relations, whatever they are, you
- 22:04as a person deserve to have people in
- 22:07your life that are present, whether it's acknowledging
- 22:09your birthday, or whatever it is.
- 22:15And through all my years of life, I've
- 22:19learned that there are people out there that
- 22:22appear to be present, but it's a facade.
- 22:27They do it because it's an act they
- 22:32play.
- 22:34But when you need them to be present
- 22:36for you, they're too busy.
- 22:38They don't have time.
- 22:42I don't know what to say, other than
- 22:45protect your presence.
- 22:47Because protecting your presence protects your energy, which
- 22:50protects and shows respect for you.
- 22:55I know this was a heavy topic today,
- 22:57and we just started this week.
- 22:59But presence, presence can be something like you
- 23:05going outside and being present in nature, right?
- 23:10You're present, you hear, you feel, you can
- 23:12touch nature, the trees, feel the wind.
- 23:16Not being present would be out there, and
- 23:19maybe you have your headphone on, and you're
- 23:23not even paying attention to any part of
- 23:25nature.
- 23:26It's okay if you wanna put your headphones
- 23:28on, but you should have a little bit
- 23:31of a acumen for nature.
- 23:34Maybe you're on a hike.
- 23:36Maybe you're listening to some music.
- 23:37No problem, but you're still present.
- 23:40You're in the moment.
- 23:41You're walking, you're looking, you're appreciating what's around
- 23:43you.
- 23:45Presence is not something somebody tells you to
- 23:48be.
- 23:49It's something you desire to be because of
- 23:53your core inner values.
- 23:54I talk a lot about that.
- 23:56I've been talking a lot about your core
- 23:56values.
- 23:57So guys, each of these points today represent
- 24:01a pillar of actionable personal development.
- 24:05Awareness, guys, is not passive.
- 24:08Nope.
- 24:09It's an active skill-based practice that allows
- 24:13you to recognize patterns, anticipate challenges, and respond
- 24:19intentionally.
- 24:21Small daily actions, when aligned with your goals
- 24:28and aspirations and values compound into significant long
- 24:31-term results.
- 24:33If you pause before action is not hesitation.
- 24:37It's strategic control.
- 24:40So taking that step to pause is absolutely
- 24:44okay.
- 24:50It's okay to do that.
- 24:53And I don't mean that in a bad
- 24:55sense, guys.
- 24:56I mean that in a way that hopefully
- 25:00can make a difference in your life.
- 25:05All right?
- 25:06That can make a difference in your life
- 25:07because if it can make a difference in
- 25:10your life, then I feel you can make
- 25:16a difference yourself.
- 25:19You can make the difference yourself.
- 25:23And that self, guys, is something pretty amazing,
- 25:29right?
- 25:32It's amazing because you can understand.
- 25:45That's important.
- 25:54I think a lot of people don't realize
- 25:56what that means.
- 26:01And it means something pretty special, okay?
- 26:06It means something very special because if you
- 26:10understand that whole concept, right, it makes a
- 26:19difference for you.
- 26:23It makes a difference for you.
- 26:25And that's something I want all of you
- 26:27to understand.
- 26:30I want you to understand that right now.
- 26:33Because if you don't, you're gonna miss the
- 26:37boat.
- 26:38You're gonna miss the boat.
- 26:40Pausing is not hesitation, it is strategic control.
- 26:43Every decision made with attention, reflection, strengthens self
- 26:48-trust and cultivates resilience.
- 26:51Forbidden distractions or shortcuts may offer immediate relief,
- 26:55but they will inevitably erode long-term clarity,
- 27:01trust and confidence and momentum.
- 27:05By intentionally noticing these traps, you protect energy
- 27:09and ensure your effort translates into meaningful progress.
- 27:13Mindful action also sharpens regulation.
- 27:16Awareness of your impulses, energy leaks and environmental
- 27:20stressors allow you to act with calm power.
- 27:23Focused attention increases clarity, decision-making and productivity.
- 27:26While conscious alignment between actions and values builds
- 27:29personal credibility and self-respect.
- 27:31Remember guys, momentum is created by repeated deliberate
- 27:34micro actions.
- 27:36Each conscious choice contributes to compounding growth, your
- 27:39identity, your discipline and personal power.
- 27:42And these are built in small but intentional
- 27:44moments.
- 27:45So I invite you guys to catch more
