- 0:13Speaker 1: data rates may apply.
- 0:16Speaker 2: All right, thanks again to Paul Keels, play by play
- 0:18Speaker 2: voice of the Ohio State Buckeye's joining us here on
- 0:20Speaker 2: the program. Let's go back here in from some long worts.
- 0:22Speaker 2: We'll hear some more from Sark next hour. But I
- 0:24Speaker 2: wanted to get to some players sound And this is
- 0:26Speaker 2: Jade baron the long Orange Jim Thorpe Award winner and
- 0:29Speaker 2: defensive Captain Jada visiting with the media on the media soon.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Going back to the COVID year, you and Macouba and
- 0:37Speaker 3: Taff obviously working out all the time together. He comes
- 0:40Speaker 3: in this year, you win the Thorpe, You have the
- 0:42Speaker 3: number one pass defense in the country. Is what sort
- 0:46Speaker 3: of like magic power did the three of you have together?
- 0:49Speaker 3: And what does what is the Andrew mccooba that we
- 0:52Speaker 3: don't see like, I mean, for one, you know.
- 0:55Speaker 4: It all starts off well, God, you know, God just
- 0:58Speaker 4: placing us here all together at the same exact time, uh,
- 1:02Speaker 4: for a purpose that that means a lot greater than
- 1:04Speaker 4: us and any individual on a team.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So I mean that's for starters.
- 1:08Speaker 4: And then second, you know, we all we all work
- 1:11Speaker 4: hard and we push each other. And then the level
- 1:12Speaker 4: of bond and the level of trust that we have,
- 1:16Speaker 4: I mean, I wouldn't want to say, you know, we
- 1:17Speaker 4: have a better trust level with everybody else on the team,
- 1:20Speaker 4: but we we've obviously been known each other for over
- 1:22Speaker 4: a decade and things like that, so it's kind of
- 1:25Speaker 4: a little bit stronger and just a strong connection when
- 1:27Speaker 4: we're out there. And then Andrew mccoob, but you know,
- 1:29Speaker 4: he's always working to be better. It starts off with
- 1:33Speaker 4: his practice, happens the way, the way he goes throughout
- 1:35Speaker 4: the week.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So when the game comes, he could just let it
- 1:37Speaker 1: loose today, good afternoon, afternoon.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Uh what do you recall from playing Will Howard when
- 1:44Speaker 5: he was playing with K State And what have you
- 1:46Speaker 5: guys learned last couple of games playing these mobile quarterbacks?
- 1:50Speaker 4: Uh, that's a veteran quarterback there, you know, a lot
- 1:52Speaker 4: of all a lot of experience on him.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Hats off to him.
- 1:55Speaker 4: And then you know then too, you know, not downgrade
- 1:59Speaker 4: his receivers that can stay, but he has a better
- 2:01Speaker 4: group of receivers here better, better people he can work
- 2:04Speaker 4: with to get the ball to. And then that's a
- 2:06Speaker 4: strong kid. You know, he's a fighter. He'll run the
- 2:09Speaker 4: ball if he has to and things like that. So
- 2:11Speaker 4: it's gonna be a great challenge for us.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Hey Jada, you guys gave up some trump plays in
- 2:17Speaker 6: the second half, which is uncharacteristic. What's the concerned level
- 2:20Speaker 6: going in against Ohio State and offenses playing as well
- 2:24Speaker 6: as any in the CFP.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I mean, again, you know it's not it's not some
- 2:29Speaker 4: matter of the opponent. Just being in there with us,
- 2:33Speaker 4: paying attention and being dowed very detailed to PK's plan
- 2:38Speaker 4: and what he has for us, and just executing it
- 2:40Speaker 4: at the highest level we can, which we know how
- 2:43Speaker 4: to do and which we're capable of doing. So, I
- 2:45Speaker 4: would say, just executing his plan to the best of
- 2:48Speaker 4: our ability.
- 2:50Speaker 7: Hey j today, you've obviously shown a lot of love
- 2:52Speaker 7: for Michael and Andrew throughout to see them. I'm kind
- 2:54Speaker 7: of wondering about the other guys in your room, specifically
- 2:57Speaker 7: Manny Gavin. Just what have you seen from them this season?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Just growth?
- 3:01Speaker 4: You know, uh, you know, they'll keep making plays, but
- 3:04Speaker 4: just growthing and being willing to learn from coach Joseph
- 3:08Speaker 4: and and take the learning. But they're all coming along
- 3:10Speaker 4: and also they're creating theirselves value for special teams and
- 3:13Speaker 4: things like that. But just growth and just and always
- 3:16Speaker 4: being engaged on team and you know, always helping me
- 3:18Speaker 4: to be better for myself and pushing me.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Ajon what stands out to you and watching Jeremiah Smith
- 3:24Speaker 1: and how exciting is it for you to have that
- 3:25Speaker 1: opportunity to go head to head with him.
- 3:28Speaker 4: That's gonna be amazing opportunity to go against him. You
- 3:31Speaker 4: know that kick and ball. He can ball. He's a
- 3:32Speaker 4: big baller, strong, strong ability. You know, he's a deep threat,
- 3:37Speaker 4: you know, and they love to get him the ball
- 3:39Speaker 4: and they love to create opportunities to get him the ball.
- 3:41Speaker 4: But it will be a great challenge for him and
- 3:44Speaker 4: then also for the other receivers they have. You know,
- 3:45Speaker 4: they have a great receiver group group of guys. So
- 3:48Speaker 4: it just be a great challenge for us and and
- 3:49Speaker 4: us DB's in the back end against to go against
- 3:52Speaker 4: those guys.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Hey, Joday, just kind of following up on that. You know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: you don't go against six three guys? Is that often?
- 4:01Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm just curious do you do you have to
- 4:04Speaker 8: change how you approach that because this person is physically
- 4:08Speaker 8: bigger than the norm.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I mean, uh, I mean I think you know everybody
- 4:13Speaker 4: once they go in the game, you gotta play your game,
- 4:14Speaker 4: you know, you can't can't change your game, uh, based
- 4:18Speaker 4: off somebody else to get out of your position on
- 4:21Speaker 4: how you play and things like that. So just being
- 4:23Speaker 4: a namor with my game and how I do things.
- 4:25Speaker 4: And and also I mean, you know, game is a
- 4:27Speaker 4: physical games. So he's a physical player and I'll have
- 4:30Speaker 4: to be also physical. I'm a physical player myself. So
- 4:32Speaker 4: just being physical and just going at it, you know.
- 4:35Speaker 4: And I think that's the that's the great thing about football,
- 4:38Speaker 4: having an opportunity to go against amazing players. So it
- 4:41Speaker 4: will just be a fun opportunity to just go against
- 4:43Speaker 4: those guys.
- 4:44Speaker 1: What's up day?
- 4:46Speaker 4: Uh?
- 4:46Speaker 1: I just want to ask what I just wanted to
- 4:48Speaker 1: ask about.
- 4:49Speaker 9: You take a lot of pride in watching film, and
- 4:52Speaker 9: I know you love to study film. Just curious to
- 4:54Speaker 9: seeing what you've seen from Ohio State. What what has
- 4:56Speaker 9: impressed you the most with this scheme that Chip, Kelly
- 4:59Speaker 9: and Ryan they have the developed out themsively, especially since
- 5:02Speaker 9: they kind of they.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Kind of adapted it throughout the season this year.
- 5:06Speaker 4: I mean, uh, they all they have all around great
- 5:08Speaker 4: players everywhere. I mean, starting from a veteran quarterback, two
- 5:12Speaker 4: amazing backs, and then the receiver group just just a
- 5:16Speaker 4: veteran quarterback they have, and then uh, just they create
- 5:18Speaker 4: opportunities for those guys to get the ball in space.
- 5:21Speaker 4: They try to get those guys their touches to see
- 5:24Speaker 4: what they can do. But you know, they love their
- 5:26Speaker 4: explosive plays and things like that. So our job would
- 5:29Speaker 4: be our job to eliminate those explosive plays and just
- 5:32Speaker 4: to to play our game, you know, trust PK is playing,
- 5:34Speaker 4: and then ultimately it'd be a good game.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Hey, John Day, how important will the pass rush be
- 5:41Speaker 8: in this game? Getting getting Howard you know, uncomfortable and
- 5:46Speaker 8: not where you can just sit there and rows and
- 5:49Speaker 8: and then what's the team's level of confidence in Burt
- 5:51Speaker 8: Auburn after his recent struggles.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Uh, we'll start off Bert Bert.
- 5:58Speaker 4: You know, he's made a lot of and kicks for
- 6:00Speaker 4: us in the past. He's always gonna come up big
- 6:03Speaker 4: when we need him, so, you know, whatever, if he
- 6:06Speaker 4: could just block out the noise, he know, we're riding him.
- 6:08Speaker 1: We got his back through it all.
- 6:10Speaker 4: You know, That's that's what the culture is here, no
- 6:13Speaker 4: matter ups and downs, were always gonna pick somebody up.
- 6:15Speaker 4: And then for our D line, you know, it's always
- 6:18Speaker 4: good to create pressure, you know, mess up the timing
- 6:21Speaker 4: of the routes and things like that. So I know,
- 6:23Speaker 4: I know our D line and our guys they're going
- 6:25Speaker 4: to get after it and just amazing opportunity across the
- 6:28Speaker 4: board for eleven or eleven Jady.
- 6:32Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 6:32Speaker 8: Man?
- 6:33Speaker 3: Uh So I keep saying you guys haven't played your
- 6:36Speaker 3: best football?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's still ahead of you.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Do you feel like y'all played y'all's a game as
- 6:42Speaker 3: a team and the playoffs so far?
- 6:44Speaker 1: And is that dangerous if you're not?
- 6:47Speaker 4: Uh No, sir, I don't think we've played our best,
- 6:50Speaker 4: you know, but you know that that's why that's that's
- 6:53Speaker 4: what practice is for, you know, to to get to
- 6:55Speaker 4: that point.
- 6:56Speaker 1: But I think we can win in a lot of.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Their ways from special teams often defense, So that's what
- 7:03Speaker 4: makes us an amazing team. But you know, once once
- 7:06Speaker 4: we have all three of those pieces together, we're a
- 7:08Speaker 4: various dangerous teams. So you know that's the goal to
- 7:11Speaker 4: get all those three together on board and we can
- 7:13Speaker 4: just keep it rolling.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Hey Joday, what has it been like working with PK
- 7:17Speaker 3: these last four seasons and what is it about him
- 7:19Speaker 3: that has helped his defense could consistently better year in
- 7:21Speaker 3: year out.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You know, he's a genius.
- 7:23Speaker 4: He's always putting people in position to make plays, and
- 7:27Speaker 4: he puts us in the best position to make plays.
- 7:29Speaker 4: And I think, honestly, you know, with the iPads having
- 7:31Speaker 4: the IPASS this year, you know he's taken full advantage
- 7:34Speaker 4: of it. He'll go down from each position groups from
- 7:37Speaker 4: the d line to the backers and it come over
- 7:39Speaker 4: to the DBS with coach Joseph with the iPad and
- 7:42Speaker 4: just just to kind of help him and fill everybody in.
- 7:45Speaker 4: But he's an amazing play caller. He's very patient and
- 7:49Speaker 4: he tries to get exact on the money with well
- 7:52Speaker 4: with the offense formation what they have going and what
- 7:54Speaker 4: look they have in the alignments and things like that.
- 7:56Speaker 4: But he's literally a genius and his plays are always
- 8:00Speaker 4: putting in some position to make place.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Hey, YadA, after the game, Andrew was talking about how
- 8:07Speaker 5: this is your team. He talked about how he wanted
- 8:09Speaker 5: you to make a speech for the second overtime to
- 8:11Speaker 5: get everybody going. When you hear your teammates talk about
- 8:15Speaker 5: you in a leadership sense and say this is your team,
- 8:17Speaker 5: what kind of goes to your mind.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I mean, I wanted to honor.
- 8:22Speaker 4: You know, it's an honor to have have that role
- 8:24Speaker 4: and coming from my peers and teammates and things like
- 8:27Speaker 4: that alongside of me, that that putt in the same
- 8:29Speaker 4: amount of work I do. You know, we sweat, we
- 8:32Speaker 4: sweat the practice together. We we do a lot of
- 8:34Speaker 4: hard things together. But from coming from them, it means
- 8:36Speaker 4: a lot and it's an honor just to take that role.
- 8:39Speaker 4: But that was big of him just coming to me
- 8:42Speaker 4: seeing things that I in the right place, and you know,
- 8:45Speaker 4: I don't know where my mind was at, you know,
- 8:47Speaker 4: long long game, but for him to just come up
- 8:49Speaker 4: there and and talk to me and you know, give me,
- 8:51Speaker 4: give me the motivation to go talk to everybody else
- 8:53Speaker 4: that was that was needed at the time. But I mean,
- 8:56Speaker 4: it's just an amazing opportunity to to have a role like that. Jaday,
- 9:00Speaker 4: I appreciate your time. I guess I just have to
- 9:02Speaker 4: follow up on that one. What did you say? What
- 9:05Speaker 4: was the message I was just I was just telling guys.
- 9:08Speaker 4: I mean, it's gonna be on us. You know, offense
- 9:09Speaker 4: are gonna go score, and it's it's on us to
- 9:12Speaker 4: just close it out.
- 9:13Speaker 1: We gotta go ahad on the business. But it starts
- 9:15Speaker 1: off with our energy level.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I think everybody was just down throughout how the game
- 9:20Speaker 4: was going and things like that, and we just needed
- 9:22Speaker 4: a little bit of motivation and I think I think
- 9:24Speaker 4: that's what it gave it to it and we went
- 9:26Speaker 4: out there and we finished it.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Jday.
- 9:29Speaker 7: How would you describe Coach Joseph as a coach? And
- 9:32Speaker 7: you know how vitle has he been to you since
- 9:34Speaker 7: you got here?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Man?
- 9:37Speaker 4: Coach Coach Joseph, He's one of the biggest pieces for me, honestly, Uh,
- 9:44Speaker 4: and everything, all the success that I'm having, I mean
- 9:48Speaker 4: it's I would say eighty percent is because of him,
- 9:51Speaker 4: you know, Uh, you know the other twenty obviously what
- 9:54Speaker 4: I'm doing outside to take care of my body and
- 9:57Speaker 4: things like that and then my own film. But he's
- 10:01Speaker 4: changed my life. He's changed my game just to make
- 10:03Speaker 4: me a smarter player. I'm a better person. Just how
- 10:05Speaker 4: I handle business throughout the film room and how I
- 10:08Speaker 4: watch film. You know, some people could just turn on
- 10:11Speaker 4: taping and you're just watching it. But he's helped me
- 10:14Speaker 4: to go through six seven different calls just with one
- 10:17Speaker 4: plays and seeing alignments and splits and and and it
- 10:21Speaker 4: just helps me play fast out there. You know, just
- 10:23Speaker 4: trust my game and once I study so much, trust
- 10:27Speaker 4: my instance. But I mean, he's changed my life completely.
- 10:30Speaker 4: He's made me the person I am today.
- 10:32Speaker 2: All Right, there's some thoughts for John A.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Baron.
- 10:35Speaker 2: We're gonna hear some more from Sark. We're gonna hear
- 10:37Speaker 2: some more long worn players and more on the NFL.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And I've got some news that might just be shocking
- 10:43Speaker 2: to Cameron Parker. When we continue on Sports Radio, you
- 10:46Speaker 2: have thirteen under the zone.
