- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 26 of Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:11The NFL season kicks off this week and so that means we are
- 0:15going to go over our predictions for the NFL season award
- 0:18winners. We were going to have a return
- 0:20guest on our show for the first time.
- 0:22We were going to have our friend and Chiefs expert Lincoln Cook
- 0:25on the show with us today, but he had to take care of his kids
- 0:28and it wasn't able to make it. So shout out to Lincoln.
- 0:30He did send me his list of players that he picked for these
- 0:34awards though, so as we go through them, I'll just read off
- 0:37who his picks were, but we're just going to jump right in and
- 0:40get started. So what we're going to do is
- 0:42we're going to go around and each going to take turns and
- 0:45we'll start with Avery. So Avery, just pick whichever of
- 0:48the 8 categories that you would like to start with and then give
- 0:52us the first person you picked and the reason as to why.
- 0:56OK, I'm going to start with Defensive Player of the Year.
- 0:59Oh, how was that? I have Miles Garrett.
- 1:01That dude is a man among boys in the NFL.
- 1:04You see him and it's like, oh, you were all children.
- 1:08Compared to this man, this man looks like an action figure.
- 1:11He is starting to get a little older, but I think this, I think
- 1:14he'll have another really good year.
- 1:16Do you think the Browns make the playoffs or do you think that
- 1:18the Browns have to make the playoffs in order for him to win
- 1:20it? The numbers first hand of the
- 1:25day. I believe so.
- 1:30Let's see. Let's look it up real quick.
- 1:33I don't want NBAI want NFL. While you're while you're
- 1:35looking this up, I do want to say I'm I'm I learn more on the
- 1:40side of like what is your individual contribution rather
- 1:44than is your team doing well? I think for Heisman, you should
- 1:47have a a winning team, but for this especially defensive player
- 1:52of the year. Now my heart might have been
- 1:55softened on this from playing road to glory as a defensive
- 1:58player where I will lose games because I didn't get a stop
- 2:03every single drive because they're off.
- 2:05They're like our defense just never or our offense never
- 2:09scored. So I can like feel for that.
- 2:12So I just think if you're the best defensive player, like
- 2:16reward that man. Plus plus I think it helps the
- 2:19league because it would, I guess, maybe not dissuade
- 2:25players from, I guess dissuade players from leaving thinking
- 2:29that they can still reach, I don't know, individual accolades
- 2:32on a subpar team. I just don't like that kind of
- 2:36allure to like, well, if I'm a serious player, I need to be on
- 2:39a good team. Therefore, the small market
- 2:42teams always suffer. Yeah, but he did actually make
- 2:46the Browns did make the playoffs when he won Defensive Player of
- 2:49the Year. Yes, I did.
- 2:52All right. Will your next two do you have
- 2:53is your Defensive Player of the Year this year?
- 2:55I have the Raider himself, Max Crosby.
- 3:00That's a good thing. I think that the Raiders offense
- 3:03is going to put the Raiders in a very good position, especially
- 3:07near the end of games where teams are going to have to be
- 3:09throwing to either seal the victory and like make sure they
- 3:14get all the the first downs, everything they need or to come
- 3:17back against the Raiders predicting him to win a decent
- 3:20amount of games and to where he's just going to be able to
- 3:23let loose and get a bunch of sacks, a bunch of tackles for
- 3:26loss. And like Max Crosby this year,
- 3:27like what the Raiders are doing this year.
- 3:29I think the Raiders are going to be a good enough offensive team
- 3:32to allow Max Crosby to eat defensively.
- 3:37And I do think I do think there's a bit of it where you
- 3:39have to have both your defense. I mean, obviously the JJ Watt
- 3:43years of him in Houston, those were not All Star Houston teams.
- 3:47They weren't bad, but you can go through the entire list of of
- 3:52defensive player of the years. Not all of them are on good
- 3:56offensive teams where their defense had to be good to hold
- 4:00him. I, I mean, I'm sure the Bengals,
- 4:04who would have loved for a defensive player of the year on
- 4:06their team last year, that defense was terrible and.
- 4:09Hendrickson could have been, honestly.
- 4:10Could have been, you're right, but there that team was bad and
- 4:15bad teams don't win awards. That's just unfortunately the
- 4:18way it kind of is. So I like match five this year
- 4:20because I like what the Raiders are doing offensively.
- 4:22Not to take anything away from him.
- 4:24I think he's going to benefit heavily from it.
- 4:28Cool. Yeah, I like that pick.
- 4:29I think that's a good pick. We all went with defensive ends
- 4:32for our picks, but I went with Lions defensive end Aiden
- 4:35Hutchinson for Defensive Player of the Year this year.
- 4:38And the reason why I went with him for Defensive Player of the
- 4:40year is because last year he only played in five games
- 4:42because he and then he broke his leg.
- 4:44But in those five games he had 7 1/2 sacks.
- 4:48This dude was wrecking people before he got hurt last year.
- 4:51It's just absolutely wrecking people.
- 4:52He was an absolute monster. And you know, you look at his
- 4:56game by game stats, he had 4 1/2 sacks in one game.
- 4:59So you know, it kind of, I don't know if that that kind of makes
- 5:03it seem like it's not as good because 4 1/2 of them are in one
- 5:07game. But if you look at his average,
- 5:10if he averaged 1 1/2 sacks per game last year in the five games
- 5:14that he played, if you multiply that by 17, that comes out to 25
- 5:171/2 sacks. Now, obviously we don't know.
- 5:20Yeah, obviously we don't know if that's going to if that would
- 5:22have continued throughout the whole season because it's a it's
- 5:24a long season and he only played five games.
- 5:26He still would have had to play 12 more.
- 5:28But in the five games that he played, he was just absolutely
- 5:32wrecking people. Now this, this is the real
- 5:35reason why I decided to pick him for Defensive Player of the Year
- 5:38is because in the five games that he played, he also had 27
- 5:43pressures in addition to those 7 1/2 sacks.
- 5:46If you take that average, which is 5.4 pressures per game, and
- 5:50you multiply it by 17, it comes out to 92.
- 5:53The leader in pressures last year was Trey Hendrickson, who
- 5:56played all 17 games and he had 54 pressures.
- 6:00Geez. He would have had 38 more
- 6:02pressures than Trey Hendrickson if he would have played all 17
- 6:07games. Aiden Hutchinson was just
- 6:09destroying people last year before he got hurt.
- 6:12And I think if he stays healthy this year that he's going to do
- 6:15the same thing. And so I that's why I picked him
- 6:17for a defensive player. And then just so you guys know
- 6:21who Lincoln picked, he picked Fred Warner from the San
- 6:24Francisco 49ers. Bad pick, but he's not here to
- 6:30defend himself, so we'll. Yeah, Lincoln sucks.
- 6:32Whatever. All right, Willie, so you're
- 6:37next. So which category would you like
- 6:38to pick Will and tell us who your guy is and what the reason
- 6:41why? What's really up to here?
- 6:43Let's go with offensive player of the year.
- 6:46I like Derrick Henry. Oh.
- 6:49Yeah, I, I've talked about this a couple Times Now.
- 6:52I think the Ravens are are seeing the window is closing.
- 6:56I think Derrick Henry is seeing that his career is not over.
- 7:00I'm not, I'm not calling Derrick Henry dead here.
- 7:03I think that we're going to see a a high-powered Ravens offense
- 7:08all around and I think it's going to flow, not fully because
- 7:12they're still at Lamar Jackson, but I think a lot of it's going
- 7:15to flow through Derrick Henry. I think he's going to end up
- 7:18winning offensive player of the year.
- 7:21That's interesting because I feel like, you know, a lot of
- 7:23people thought Lamar Jackson would win MVP last year.
- 7:25And so I feel like most of the credit goes to Lamar Jackson and
- 7:28not Derrick Henry. But I Derrick Henry is my
- 7:32favorite player. So I feel like it should be the
- 7:34other way around because if you look at Lamar Jackson's stats,
- 7:38he's, you know, he, he was way better than he's been the
- 7:41previous few years prior to getting Derrick Henry.
- 7:44And so I think Derrick Henry is the reason that he was
- 7:46significantly better than he had been.
- 7:49So for my offensive player of the year, I went with Jamar
- 7:52Chase and the reason I went with him is because I just feel like
- 7:56he was overshadowed by what Saquon Barkley did last year and
- 8:00you know, rushing for 2000 yards.
- 8:02I think it overshadowed what Jamar Chase did and he was
- 8:05phenomenal last season. And I think he's going to be the
- 8:08same this year because I think the defense is still going to be
- 8:10really bad and they're going to have to throw the ball a lot.
- 8:12But I think he's going to have similar, if not better stats to
- 8:16what he had last year. And I don't think we're going to
- 8:18see a 2000 yard rusher this year.
- 8:19So I don't think he'll be as overshadowed as he was.
- 8:23And I think that, you know, if if he does what he did again in
- 8:27two straight seasons, I feel like you got to give him
- 8:30offensive player because he did it for two years in a row.
- 8:33I. Actually strongly considered
- 8:35both of those guys. What turned me off from Chase is
- 8:40I just I feel like it's going to be hard to have another season
- 8:43like that and I think that Burroughs going to end up
- 8:45spreading it around a little bit more.
- 8:48That's just a hunch though. I just, I can't imagine many
- 8:52defenses just letting Chase just continue season after season
- 8:56doing that. Not like they ever planned to
- 8:58though, that's how. These well, they did it, they
- 9:00did it game after game last year.
- 9:01So yeah, he he think they were figured it out, you know?
- 9:04Well, I mean you. Guys.
- 9:06Like you about guys like Calvin Johnson.
- 9:08It's not that the teams will let them do it.
- 9:11Some receivers are just they're just better.
- 9:14And Jamar Chase seems to be a guy who's just better.
- 9:17So they just, they just do it. I mean even.
- 9:20They just do. It even like Andre Johnson,
- 9:23right? Larry Fitzgerald, these guys
- 9:25were not they were not on the best teams and Larry Fitzgerald
- 9:30wasn't even the best receiver in the league at any point in his
- 9:33career. He was never the number one guy
- 9:36that you would call out, but consistently year after year,
- 9:39they were just having just all Pro type seasons.
- 9:43But I think that's that's kind of my point is I think Larry
- 9:47Fitzgerald was the best receiver in the league for multiple
- 9:51seasons. I think the reason that he
- 9:53wasn't, I mean, not like he wasn't giving his flowers or
- 9:56anything, but just production wise, I think it's because he
- 9:59played for Arizona and it was easy enough to put two DVS on
- 10:02him. I mean, like most of his his
- 10:05highlights are him just jumping over people or like breaking
- 10:09through double team. So like, it's one of those
- 10:12things where kind of like with a cornerback, you know, Pat
- 10:15certain, like, you know, if he doesn't get any interceptions
- 10:17next year, that's not indicative of him being a bad cornerback.
- 10:21That could just mean they're like, don't throw it to that
- 10:23side of the field. Anyway, having said all that,
- 10:27I've got Lamar Jackson. I think that if I had to,
- 10:32because I was thinking it was either him or Henry, and I
- 10:37would, I think there's less risk in choosing Lamar just because I
- 10:40feel like because of Henry's age and size, which is also kind of
- 10:44is a pro for him. I think that he's either they're
- 10:48going to get stopped or hurt or something's going to happen that
- 10:52would prevent him. And then Lamar Jackson will have
- 10:54to hop into OverDrive and pick up that production and then stat
- 10:59pad and win. If we had Derrick Henry on our
- 11:02fantasy team, I would be really mad that you said he's going to
- 11:04get hurt. But we don't.
- 11:05So I'm. I'm not.
- 11:07I'm not. I'm allowed to.
- 11:08Yeah. Alright.
- 11:10So I had. OK.
- 11:12I'm sorry, did you know the last time a quarterback won Offensive
- 11:15Player of the Year? Mahomes, probably.
- 11:17It was Mahomes in the same year he won MVP. 2018 MVP and
- 11:22offensive player here, same year.
- 11:24It's a douche move by yourself. Yeah, that is kind of a douche
- 11:27move by the NFL to do that. It is I would rather than not
- 11:30do. And they, they honestly should
- 11:33rename MVP and they should rename offensive player of the
- 11:36year because there's no way your quarterback isn't your offensive
- 11:39player of the year. He's the one doing all the work.
- 11:42Unless you're the, I don't know, well, the, the Panthers at any
- 11:47point in history and you're Christian McCaffrey, the
- 11:49quarterback. Andy Dalton was not holding that
- 11:51team up. Christian McCaffrey was holding
- 11:53that team up at that point. Your player of the year is not
- 11:56your quarterback. But most of these teams
- 11:58nowadays, your offensive player of the year is your quarterback.
- 12:01And I don't know, it's just it's just a way for more people to
- 12:05get more money and more contract lane to be written.
- 12:08Or if you win this award, you get an extra bonus if you win
- 12:10that award. If that's the case, I'm, I'm,
- 12:13I'm for it then if that's if, if it's to help the players get
- 12:17paid a little bit more. Usually it is.
- 12:18It's incentives and stuff like that.
- 12:20Yeah. All right.
- 12:23All right, But yeah, Lincoln had Justin Jefferson as his
- 12:26Offensive Player of the Year. Yeah, OK, OK.
- 12:33AJ McCarthy is going to be MVP and Justin Jefferson is
- 12:36offensive player. All right, so I'm going to go
- 12:40ahead and pick the Protector of the Year award.
- 12:43Now, just a couple things before we start talking about who we
- 12:46have for this award. So this is the first year that
- 12:50the NFL is doing this award. Some some things to know here is
- 12:54this is going to be voted on by six former offensive lineman and
- 12:58they are La Charles Bentley, Jason Kelsey, Sean O'Hara,
- 13:03Orlando Pace, Will Shields and Andrew Whitworth.
- 13:06And then they're judging this based off of five specific
- 13:09criteria. So the first one is skill
- 13:10metrics, which is like pass block or run block win rate,
- 13:14impact on the team's offensive success, leadership, durability
- 13:18and success against top defenders.
- 13:20So just so you guys know, that's what they're basing it off of.
- 13:24And for my Protector of the Year award, I'm going with Bucs
- 13:27offensive tackle Tristan Werfs and.
- 13:30The reason? Oh.
- 13:32Cool, cool. Yeah.
- 13:33I mean, so kind of I kind of thought about not picking him
- 13:36because durability is one of the categories and he is hurt right
- 13:39now. He's probably not going to play
- 13:41for the first two to three games.
- 13:44But I think if he plays at least 14 games, I think he sells a
- 13:47shot to win this award because he's just that good.
- 13:50So last year he played over 1000 snaps and he did not allow one
- 13:54single sack and he only allowed one quarterback hit.
- 13:58So there's a lot of reasons why Baker Mayfield was very good
- 14:00last year. But Tristan Werfs was one of the
- 14:03biggest reasons that he had the success he did last season
- 14:06because he didn't have to worry about anybody touching him.
- 14:09He only got hit one time because of Tristan Werfs and not one
- 14:12single sack was allowed. And so, you know, I think that
- 14:16when he comes back, he's going to pick up right where he left
- 14:18off. And Baker Mayfield's going to
- 14:20have another really good season because he doesn't have to worry
- 14:23about anybody touching him from that side of the field.
- 14:26And so, you know, again, he is injured right now.
- 14:29I I think that as long as he plays 14 games, I think he's
- 14:33still going to have a chance to win that award because it does
- 14:36hurt him in the durability section.
- 14:38But in every other category, he's, you know, you're not going
- 14:41to get much better than that. Now Will, since you have the
- 14:43same guy, do you have anything else to add with with Tristan
- 14:46Worfs? I don't, but I will give an
- 14:49alternate opinion here. I did pick Tristan Worfs here,
- 14:52but my secondary choice was penny a school and it's just a
- 14:54like there's First off, he's from he can't right.
- 14:57So like there's some bias there. Let's be honest about it.
- 15:01But he just he like everything about Miles here is oftentimes a
- 15:05men among boys out there and he is doing the work and doing
- 15:09doing it all rights. He's definitely part of the
- 15:12success of the Lions and that whole entire offensive line they
- 15:15have. And so I wanted to make sure he
- 15:17got an honorable mention and sorry, favorite that's your guy,
- 15:19but I wanted to stay. Oh yeah, so cool.
- 15:23I'm just stealing spotlight here.
- 15:24I have nothing additional to say like Chris Morris.
- 15:26I'm going to stop there. Yeah, I got Benicio, Oregon.
- 15:31That's probably the main reason, but I know he's a beast.
- 15:34I remember him in Oregon. I've seen him in the NFLI, think
- 15:36he's a monster, Will said. The rest?
- 15:40All right. And then Lincoln picked Lane
- 15:42Johnson for Protector of the Year.
- 15:43All right, so we're back to Avery.
- 15:46Pick us another category and tell us who you have.
- 15:49Let's do Offensive Rookie of the Year.
- 15:52Do you have for Offensive Rookie of the Year?
- 15:54I got Gente. I just think he's going to get
- 15:57the most production. I think just, I mean, I'm, I'm
- 16:01looking at the award here, not who I think is going to be the
- 16:03best in five years or so. I think he's just set up to have
- 16:08a very productive year. I was looking at Hampton, but I
- 16:12think I like Genti over Hampton to win the award.
- 16:15Lincoln picked Hampton, just so you know.
- 16:17Oh, really? He probably did that just for
- 16:19you, Avery. So.
- 16:21Oh well, I appreciate that. I don't think he would have
- 16:23picked another player within the division if it wasn't for you.
- 16:26Fair enough. So Will who do you have?
- 16:30I mean, it's a, it's. Isn't that like a friendly fire?
- 16:34It's like your favorite. You're alluding to the Broncos,
- 16:37right? No.
- 16:40Hampton. No, he didn't want to pick
- 16:42Gentie because of the Raiders, but he picked Hampton because
- 16:45he's in the Chargers. He's all AFC West stuff, that's
- 16:48all AFC win and he's a Chiefs fan, right?
- 16:51But the only reason he picked him?
- 16:53Yeah, I was going to say I was like, oh, he picked him over
- 16:55Gentie and like, they play in the same division.
- 16:57OK, never mind. Right, because he's a Chiefs
- 17:00fan. Yeah.
- 17:02All right, well, who do you have for Offensive Rookie of the
- 17:04Year? I also have Genti.
- 17:06I was trying to think of anybody else for any other reason.
- 17:09Who am I going to pick? Cam Ward?
- 17:10No, Tett. No.
- 17:14I mean, like he said, he has the highest probability for
- 17:19production throughout the entire year.
- 17:21He was drafted and everyone knew.
- 17:23Oh, OK, they're just going to hand down the ball every time
- 17:26they say he is. He is the offensive Raider,
- 17:30right? You've got Max Crosby and now
- 17:32you got Ashton Genti. You got a Raider on each side of
- 17:34the ball, so I there's, I would love to see somebody else
- 17:39challenge him for it, but I don't even think there's going
- 17:41to be anybody that's going to be coming close.
- 17:45Well, unlike you will, I did pick somebody else for any other
- 17:48reason. Can you guys?
- 17:51Get who it is. Chador is it?
- 17:53Yeah, it should. No, it's not Chador I.
- 17:56Can't be shy. Right now, is it?
- 17:59No. He owes me enough money.
- 18:00Can we let you play with that? You owe us money.
- 18:06You were so bad. You know OSI have no idea no
- 18:09idea why he got fined. I have not worked into it at
- 18:12all. I don't really care but it.
- 18:13Was just a punch on the field. Yeah, he just got he got
- 18:15frustrated at the receiver and just just slapped his helmet.
- 18:18I actually didn't know that. Yeah.
- 18:21Do you get a Ted? No.
- 18:23I do have a wide receiver though.
- 18:26Oh, emeko egg buco. Yeah.
- 18:28Oh. Yeah.
- 18:30Yeah, yeah, for offensive, I said.
- 18:32It so will didn't have to say it.
- 18:34Appreciate that. Bless you.
- 18:36Truly, truly bless you. Yeah, I think you.
- 18:40Do that. That's what it really was.
- 18:42For Offensive Rookie of the Year, I went with Bucks wide
- 18:44receiver at Mechagbuca at the Bucks threw the ball a lot last
- 18:48year and I think they're going to do the same again this year.
- 18:50You know, they have injuries to Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan
- 18:53right now. Chris Godwin's probably going to
- 18:55miss the first month of the season.
- 18:56Jalen McMillan could miss anywhere from a month to half
- 19:00the year. And so that moves and Mechagbuca
- 19:02up and gives him more opportunity than he originally
- 19:05would have had with those guys in.
- 19:07And so First off, he has the opportunity.
- 19:09And so you know, what I really like about him is at Ohio State,
- 19:13in my opinion, he was the biggest threat on the field
- 19:17without being the center of attention.
- 19:19And you know, it's that's exactly what I think he's going
- 19:22to do in the NFL. He's going to be the biggest
- 19:24threat on that field on offense without being the center of
- 19:28attention because people are going to be focusing on Mike
- 19:30Evans. And then when Chris Godwin comes
- 19:32back, they're going to focus on him as well.
- 19:34And a Mechagbuka, when he's not the center of attention, he's
- 19:38going to be the best threat on that offense because nobody's
- 19:42going to be double teaming him. They're going to be double
- 19:44teaming either Mike Evans or Chris Godwin.
- 19:46And so at Mechagbuka is going to be highly productive, just like
- 19:49he was at Ohio State where he's not the wide receiver one, but
- 19:53he's the biggest threat on that field.
- 19:55And so I just think that he's got an incredible opportunity,
- 19:58especially to start out with these injuries to the other wide
- 20:00receivers in that room. And, you know, people are saying
- 20:04really good things about him. I know we talked about, you
- 20:06know, it's practice and, you know, you got to actually do it
- 20:09on the field in the regular season first.
- 20:11But Baker Mayfield says that he reminds him of Aman Ross St.
- 20:14Brown. And, you know, that doesn't
- 20:16really mean anything, but Baker Mayfield likes him.
- 20:19And I like Baker Mayfield. And so I like Emeka Ibuka.
- 20:22That kind of worries me a little bit for Tez because he's someone
- 20:27that's even further down that roster that I want to start.
- 20:30Well, well, same thing with Tez. He's going to have a lot more
- 20:33opportunity now because Godwin and Jalen McMillan are going to
- 20:35be out for a while. So he's he's going to be playing
- 20:38while those guys are out. Sure, true.
- 20:41All right, Avery. Oh, wait, we're just, we just
- 20:43started with Avery, right? Yep.
- 20:44OK. Will, who's picked your next
- 20:46category? Let's go with Comeback Player of
- 20:49the Year. OK, I got to say, I got to say
- 20:52Lincoln's first. Oh, yeah.
- 20:53Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So Lincoln, for comeback player
- 20:56of the year, he picked Kim Kardashian.
- 21:02Get the joke, Get it Parks and Rec.
- 21:04The Parks and Rec blueprint. Yeah, I got it.
- 21:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, we actually, he actually
- 21:10picked Aden Hutchinson. Do do we hear Lincoln's
- 21:14offensive Rook of the year? Offensive rookie.
- 21:18He had Hampton. Oh, that's.
- 21:20Right. Oh, that's right.
- 21:20Yeah, yeah, yeah. We both realize that at the
- 21:23same. Time Did we?
- 21:24Yeah. Do we hear his protector?
- 21:28Wayne Johnson? I'm missing 1 Wayne Johnson.
- 21:29Oh, yeah, we've heard all this. This is old news.
- 21:31Why are we talking about this? Yes.
- 21:33Who? Keeps asking these.
- 21:35Questions keep asking about it. He's leaving the years.
- 21:37Stop talking about him. OK, who do you have for comeback
- 21:41player of the? Year comeback player.
- 21:42I also have Aiden Hutchinson, right?
- 21:44I mean, he's the most dominant person that didn't play last
- 21:47year. What else do?
- 21:48What else needs to be said? You get him winning two awards,
- 21:50Joel. I do because if if he's
- 21:53defensive player of. The year, that's how hard he's
- 21:55coming back. Yeah, if, if he picks up where
- 21:58he left off before he got hurt last year, you got to give him
- 22:01Comeback Player of the year. If he wins Defensive Player of
- 22:04the year, there's nobody better who was injured last year than
- 22:08him, unless, unless you got like Dak Prescott, who wins MVP, then
- 22:11you might give it to Dak Prescott.
- 22:13But if if Aiden Hutchinson comes back and wins Defensive Player
- 22:16of the Year, there's nobody better than him to win comeback
- 22:19Player of the Year. I got Christian McCaffrey.
- 22:22I was 75% certain you were going to say JJ McCarthy.
- 22:26I was so certain I was. Did you see me looking for it?
- 22:30I was ready for it. I was like, come on, come on.
- 22:33Do it, I bet. Do it.
- 22:34Do it, Do it, Do it. OK, So Avery?
- 22:40From nothing. And he's marginally better.
- 22:43Avery, do you do you think that Christian McCaffrey plays in all
- 22:4617 games this year? No.
- 22:54If I said yes, I would be lying like I hope.
- 23:01I wish I wouldn't say I have faith in it, but I would.
- 23:07I would like it. He would.
- 23:09His family would like he would stay healthy and finish out a
- 23:13season, help his team, put the team on his back.
- 23:18OK, so how many games do you think he does play if he's going
- 23:20to win comeback player of the year?
- 23:22How many games does he play dude?
- 23:23I think playing eight would make him, well, maybe not of the
- 23:28year, but I mean, it's better than what it was.
- 23:34No, I think. I think if he plays like 1415
- 23:37games, I mean, I I'm not worried as much about the games.
- 23:41I mean, if if he puts up 2000 yards in eight games, yeah, he's
- 23:44the comeback player of the year. I would hope.
- 23:47So the season that he played that point, he'd be, I can't
- 23:52even imagine what kind of production that would look like.
- 23:55But yeah, OK, cool. Before we move on, I would like
- 24:01to give an, an actual, an actual honorable mention to JJ
- 24:05McCarthy. He has the team I I know, I
- 24:09know, I know, I know, I know, I know.
- 24:10What is this? Is this AI?
- 24:12He has. Someone they couldn't say this.
- 24:18He does. They can't even they're still.
- 24:21He does have a team. He has the team built in his
- 24:26favor. He has he has every piece of
- 24:29infrastructure there to do very well to where he just has to
- 24:35kind of be there. He has to have a Rex Grossman
- 24:37type season again. I keep bringing that guy up and
- 24:40we'll do the Super Bowl. His have a him type season where
- 24:43you get to throw for like 2500 yards and just not turn the ball
- 24:46over that much. And and if the if the Vikings
- 24:51get carried by somebody else, I don't even know who Aaron Jones,
- 24:57I guess that defends Harrison Smith is back there for his
- 25:00nineteen season or some shit. How about Justin Jefferson?
- 25:03Yeah, but see, that requires JJ McCarthy to get him the ball.
- 25:07I thought about dressing Jefferson, unless they're going
- 25:10to put him in the D boy Samuel from like 3 years ago where
- 25:12they're going to hand him the ball.
- 25:15I, I just, or, or he's going to get like 3500 yards, but he's
- 25:20going to have like and, and like what, 200 completions on the
- 25:24season and his air time for the ball is going to be like 400
- 25:28yards. He's going to throw 2 yards
- 25:29slant routes the entire season and dressing Jefferson and
- 25:33Jordan Addison eventually will just make the play happen.
- 25:36And so I I can see that. And then and then the world
- 25:39would just be lit. Oh, he's so good.
- 25:42Yeah, but he threw the ball nowhere.
- 25:44He threw screen passes. He did nothing.
- 25:47But he has the entire team to do it.
- 25:50So I would like to say he does get an automation, but not
- 25:53because he's good, because the team around him is good.
- 25:56Would that count is would that count as comeback though?
- 25:59I mean, that's kind of like a Blake Griffin situation.
- 26:01I mean, like, come back from what?
- 26:03You didn't start anywhere. I almost put him down for Rookie
- 26:07of the year. I truly did.
- 26:09I feel like, I feel like genuinely, he's more eligible
- 26:13for that than for the comeback. A missing entire season.
- 26:16Yeah. Like I don't think he's eligible
- 26:19for rookie of the Year, but I think he's more eligible for
- 26:22that then come back. It's like come back from what?
- 26:24The whole thing is like a return to something.
- 26:27We have come back to where we were.
- 26:29You were nowhere. Not even in Michigan dude.
- 26:32You didn't even pass for over 3000 yards in at Michigan.
- 26:36Come back from what dude? He played a.
- 26:38Preseason, I'm aware of all this stuff, but there, there is
- 26:42grounds for it. That's all I'm saying.
- 26:47All right, all right. So I'm going to go ahead and
- 26:50pick Coach of the Year and I'm going to pick Bears head coach
- 26:55Ben Johnson. I knew it.
- 26:57Now, now here's the thing. Here's the thing with this pick
- 27:00is I feel like Ben Johnson is going to win this award because
- 27:04everybody already has him. Winning the award, that's fair.
- 27:08OK, so let me ask you guys this. So you've got 2 new head coaches
- 27:13and one of them is not a brand new head coach because he's been
- 27:15a head coach somewhere else. But if you take the Patriots and
- 27:17the Bears, if they both go 9:00 and 8:00, so if Ben Johnson is
- 27:229:00 and 8:00 with the Bears and Mike Vrabel is 9:00 and 8:00
- 27:24with the Patriots, and they both make the playoffs, who's going
- 27:27to win Coach of the year? I guarantee you it will be Ben
- 27:31Johnson. It will not be Mike Vrabel, even
- 27:34though they do the exact same thing.
- 27:36It will not be Mike Vrabel. He will not even be in
- 27:38consideration for the award because everybody is already
- 27:41penciling in Ben Johnson as coach of the year.
- 27:44Ben Johnson probably doesn't even have to make the playoffs
- 27:46if he just has a winning record. He will probably still win coach
- 27:49of the year just because everybody is already penciling
- 27:51him in for this award and they're not even considering
- 27:56anybody else for this award at this point in time.
- 27:58And it's not to say that Ben Johnson is not a good coach.
- 28:00I think he's going to be great. I think he's going to be a great
- 28:03coach. But I just think that everybody
- 28:05is saying Ben Johnson's the coach of the year.
- 28:08Doesn't even matter what he does.
- 28:10He's coach of the year. And so that's why I picked Ben
- 28:13Johnson. I've got a hot take on this.
- 28:15I think we should separate these awards for coaches.
- 28:19I think there should be a best coach and then underdog coach,
- 28:24someone who didn't get a shiny job but did pretty well with the
- 28:28pieces that they had. I think that should be a
- 28:31separate award because otherwise it's like what did.
- 28:36You have a distance of the year as well.
- 28:39I don't care about that. Your.
- 28:41Your award. Your award?
- 28:43Is is a better job after the season that that's your award
- 28:47for that, for doing that's Ben Johnson won that last year.
- 28:50So I I feel like you should have like the Andy Reid's like it's
- 28:55like, yeah, it's like the MVP. It's like, if he's still the
- 28:58best coach, give him the trophy, you know?
- 29:01But then we have these guys like, yeah.
- 29:02These are the guys that. You know, they didn't get the
- 29:04good job, but you know, they got this up and coming team and
- 29:07look, look, they they barely, you know, etched out, you know,
- 29:11just rose above 500 and they barely made the playoffs.
- 29:13I mean, they got a limit. They got embarrassed in the
- 29:15first round, but you know, like, look how hard they're trying.
- 29:18That's that's an award. We need like little little
- 29:24brother coach award of the year, just like little brother like
- 29:29you're doing like the award where where, when the coach that
- 29:32wins against him in those in the 8 losses that that that Ben
- 29:38Johnson has, when they go over and be like doing a great job,
- 29:41buddy, you're doing a great job. Like I love what you're doing
- 29:43out there. That's that award.
- 29:45It's the ones that you don't shake their hand because they
- 29:48beat you. That's coach of the year.
- 29:50That's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. These other coaches hate them
- 29:53because of how good he is. I just think there's a massive
- 29:56disparity and we need to acknowledge the difference in
- 29:59two. Different awards.
- 30:00A Most Improved Team Coach of the Year award.
- 30:04Your team was really bad and you made them a little less bad.
- 30:08The Turd polisher award. Like, look at that, it's still a
- 30:12turd, but it smells nicer. Not great, not good, but nicer
- 30:17than it did. I mean, coach of the year is
- 30:20basically that like you don't see very often where a coach
- 30:23who's like an established coach like Andy Reid, which is
- 30:25Lincoln's pick for coach of the year, by the way.
- 30:27You don't see a coach like Andy Reid win.
- 30:30You don't see a coach like Andy Reid win coach of the year very
- 30:33often because he's been consistently doing it, which
- 30:36doesn't really make sense. But you know, most, most of the
- 30:40time the coach of the year is a guy who had a crap team in the
- 30:43last year when he wasn't there and then took them to the
- 30:46playoffs. That's that first year that he's
- 30:48a head coach. And so, you know, it doesn't
- 30:50necessarily mean that they're the best head coach that year,
- 30:52but because they they had a crap team last year and they they
- 30:56weren't crap this year, that's who wins head coach.
- 30:59And that's and that and that's what I mean is that it then by
- 31:03definition, it's not even about like out of all the coaches,
- 31:06it's like, no, out of all the coaches that that like
- 31:10qualified, it's like, oh, did your team?
- 31:12Was your team already pretty good?
- 31:13Were you already good coach? Yeah, you can't win best coach.
- 31:15Then it's like, what? What if I'm even better than I
- 31:18was before? It's like, sorry.
- 31:20That's and I think that just proves the point.
- 31:22We need we need a separate award.
- 31:24We need the little brother coach award for the the guy who keeps
- 31:29chugging like he's trying. He's doing so good out there.
- 31:31I think my coach. Oh, no, go ahead.
- 31:36Yo, you guys. I think that Mike Vrabel was the
- 31:39perfect guy to pick their jewel because the Patriots weren't bad
- 31:43last year. They weren't good.
- 31:45I mean, they had a top five pick, didn't they?
- 31:47Like, they were not good, but nobody expects them to be bad.
- 31:51People expect them to win 7 to 10 games this year.
- 31:55And so if you win 7 to 10 games from a team that was what, 5 and
- 32:00something four and something last year?
- 32:02Either 4 is. It Yeah.
- 32:04They won four games. But like, you're expected to do
- 32:07better than that where no one expects the Bears to do that.
- 32:11Well, if we're truly being honest about it, we're expecting
- 32:14well, they still care. The Williams, yeah, they've got
- 32:16Ben Johnson. We're thinking what, six wins,
- 32:19five wins from this team, what a huge improvement.
- 32:22And so if he gets anywhere around six to seven wins, look
- 32:25what he did. And so it's just going back to
- 32:28what you're saying, it's just not fair to to head coaches like
- 32:31Mike Rabel, who are probably going to take the Patriots to a
- 32:33playoff run, first round loss, but into the playoffs.
- 32:38And it's just it's just, well, he's been a head coach before.
- 32:41I think. Nevermind, I'm barely here.
- 32:43Avery, you go. I got Sean Payton.
- 32:49I think this is somewhere in the middle of Little brother award
- 32:52and best coach award. He's won it before, so it's but
- 32:56I only see him winning it. I only think he really deserves
- 32:59it. As if they like make it to the
- 33:01NFC Championship. If they don't do that, then you.
- 33:07Should get out the awards. Before or after that?
- 33:10It's in between championships and Super Bowl.
- 33:12They are, yeah, but they are not based off of playoff success.
- 33:16They're supposed to be regular season awards.
- 33:18Yeah. Well, it's done considering
- 33:20that's not the objective of their job.
- 33:22But I guess for the sake of timing and making it all fair,
- 33:26that's. Also, if it was truly that and
- 33:29Joe Burrow should have won the MVP last year, yeah, you know,
- 33:33it was a regular season award. That's just act.
- 33:36Whatever. That's a different argument.
- 33:40Yeah. But yeah.
- 33:42Well, who do you have as coach of the Year?
- 33:45This was the the model I was going on about Mike Vrabel.
- 33:49I actually have Pete Carroll because that Raiders team was
- 33:52bad last year and there is no nobody thinks this Raiders game
- 33:56is going to be as bad this year. They're expected to get they're
- 34:00expected to to challenge for second or third place in the in
- 34:05the AFC West. They're expected to possibly
- 34:08make the playoffs. This is a this is a possible 7
- 34:13to 9 win team year this year or seven to nine.
- 34:17Yeah, yeah, Win team. And I just I think it's going to
- 34:21get overlooked that Pete Carroll brought his team back together
- 34:24with Geno Smith as at the helm and and he's going to take a bag
- 34:30of rocks and a rookie and you go, OK, we have a new offense
- 34:33now let's do the thing. And so I've I've got Pete
- 34:36Carroll. All right, yeah, I like that
- 34:39pig. So I can think we're back to
- 34:42Avery now and I think we've just got Defensive Rookie of the Year
- 34:46and MVP left. Let's do Defensive Player of the
- 34:51Year, rookie. Defensive Rookie of the Year.
- 34:53Defensive Rookie. Defensive Player of the Rookie
- 34:56year. OK.
- 34:57Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I got Abdul Carter.
- 35:02Do we there? You guys have him?
- 35:04That's why I have two. Yeah, same, same I.
- 35:05Figured that we don't have it so I.
- 35:07Yeah, yeah, OK. There's absolutely no reason why
- 35:10he shouldn't have at least 10 sacks.
- 35:13Absolutely no reason. Like you've got Brian Burns,
- 35:15you've got Kayvon Thibodeau, you've got Dexter Lawrence,
- 35:18you've got more guys on that team in that defensive front.
- 35:21That defensive front is just stacked.
- 35:23And so that's going to open up a lot of stuff for Abdul Carter.
- 35:26Because if you're an opposing offense, who do you choose to
- 35:28stop? If you choose to stop Brian
- 35:30Burns, Abdul Carter is going to come get you.
- 35:32If you choose to stop Abdul Carter, Brian Burns is going to
- 35:35come get you. So I just, there's going to be a
- 35:38lot of opportunity there for Abdul Carter and there's
- 35:41absolutely no reason why he shouldn't have tense axis here.
- 35:44I think he's going to be filled with rage for the entire season
- 35:49because of that one tweet The Jets put out.
- 35:52Just order number one pick. You guys see that where he got
- 35:56so so you'll have to lift this up, The Jets player tweet in a
- 36:00preseason game, he got Abu Carter got chipped by a tight
- 36:04end or a wing. I don't know who actually
- 36:05chipped him and then the right tackle while he was already off
- 36:10balance pulling him in the dirt. It was a good offensive play.
- 36:14It it was a good chip. It was a good push down.
- 36:17All clean, good offensive line work, truly.
- 36:22But then Abdul Carter replied to that tweet with this would be
- 36:26the only Jets highlight this season or something along those
- 36:29lines. And I just it made me laugh.
- 36:32And it's like, you are you are the even though both New York
- 36:36teams are bad, The Jets are still the little brother in New
- 36:40York. And it's like, dude, what are
- 36:43you guys doing? And so he's going to be filled
- 36:46with rage. Oh yeah, number one pick, let me
- 36:49show you. And he's I just need to go out
- 36:51there and earn it. Well, let's see.
- 36:53Here's The thing is, even if Abdul Carter is not good at run
- 36:57defense, as long as you're getting sacks, nobody cares.
- 37:00Just look at Michael Parsons. Michael Parsons is not a good
- 37:03run defender, but because he can get sacks, nobody cares.
- 37:08If Abdul Carter's getting sacks, he doesn't even have to be good
- 37:10at anything else, and he'll win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
- 37:14Yeah, that's true. Long ago it was not one of the
- 37:17giants. Oh, sorry, Hugo.
- 37:19Oh, I was just going to say in my road to glory, I don't.
- 37:24I consciously ignore my zone defense and going for the sack
- 37:30and I allow so much, but it doesn't penalize me for it.
- 37:36And every time I get a sack, it's like, you're doing such a
- 37:38good job out there. Anyway, go ahead.
- 37:45It wasn't that long ago the New York Giants had their NASCAR
- 37:48package of pass rushers. These guys all they did was rush
- 37:52the quarterback. They would come out first and
- 37:54second down, third down, 3rd and medium, 3rd and long.
- 37:57They would put their NASCAR package in and they would just
- 37:59get sacks. So we are, I mean, we can be
- 38:02looking at the same thing this this Giants defense is going to
- 38:05be pretty good this year all. Right.
- 38:09So before we move on to the last award for MVPI, have a question
- 38:13for you guys and I know who. Did Will who?
- 38:15Who did Lincoln have? Oh, he had Abdul Carter too.
- 38:18OK. Yeah, Quin Tweep.
- 38:21Yeah. Oh OK, so none of us picked this
- 38:24player as either offensive or Defensive Rookie of the Year,
- 38:27but what are the chances that Travis Hunter wins both
- 38:30offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year?
- 38:32Never I've thought about it. Agree.
- 38:34Low. Never.
- 38:36Ever. I agree.
- 38:39Well, why do you guys think it had?
- 38:40Crossed my mind. Yeah.
- 38:42Is it just because he's not going to play enough on both
- 38:44sides of the ball? Bingo.
- 38:47Dion wasn't going to do it. He's not going to do it.
- 38:52Fair. True.
- 38:54It's not going to be like a Heisman situation where he only
- 38:56wins it just because he can play both sides.
- 39:00Yeah, 'cause he's not going to be able to have the production
- 39:03required. I mean, I guess if he's doing
- 39:06like if he's putting, if we're talking percentages here and
- 39:09he's giving like 70% here, 70% there, which is like, well,
- 39:13everyone can give 100, but he's given 140% just because of the
- 39:17amount of production. Maybe just the the sheer fact
- 39:21that he's putting out so much on both sides, people could be
- 39:25like, that's insane. We got to give it to him just
- 39:29because, you know, if it's something like that, maybe.
- 39:32But other than that, like there's no way, no way.
- 39:36I mean, I don't doubt that he can play both sides of the ball
- 39:38consistently, but not enough to like be an MVP candidate on both
- 39:43sides. Yeah, I agree.
- 39:47I I don't think there's any chance that Travis Honda wins
- 39:49both or probably not even one, to be honest.
- 39:54All right, so the last award here.
- 39:56Let's do go through this one real quick and then we have
- 40:00something that we want to tell you guys at the end of our
- 40:03episode here. So will, I think we're on to you
- 40:06for MVP. So Will who do you have winning
- 40:10the MVP this season? I foreshrded this a bit earlier
- 40:14in the episode. I have LeBron Jackson.
- 40:17No LeBron Jackson. Good guess, though.
- 40:20I have that Ravens offense doing a lot of work this year.
- 40:24I have I, I think that Mark Andrews spends the entire
- 40:29offseason learning how to catch a football again.
- 40:31I think that they, they Isaiah likely all, the whole all the
- 40:36boys out there doing the work. I like his team a lot.
- 40:40I, I don't want to put my foot in my mouth.
- 40:43I have them almost making the Super Bowl.
- 40:45I believe this is how that went. You did not have been making the
- 40:49Super Bowl. Correct, but I did have him in
- 40:51the number one seed in the AFC playoffs and so I like the
- 40:55Ravens a lot this year. I think Omar Jackson wins MVP
- 40:59and Derrick Henry wins Offensive Player of the Year.
- 41:03OK, cool. For my MVPI went with Joe Burrow
- 41:08and you know, I feel like there was two people who who really
- 41:12people think should have won MVP aside from Josh Allen, because a
- 41:15lot of people don't think Josh Allen should have won.
- 41:17And it was Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
- 41:19And you know, the case was stronger for Lamar Jackson
- 41:22because the Ravens actually made the playoffs.
- 41:24The Bengals did not make the playoffs.
- 41:26But now everybody knows that the Bengals defense is trash and
- 41:30everybody's seen it. Everybody's seen how bad it was
- 41:32last year and everybody knows it's going to be just as bad as
- 41:35it was this season. So if the Bengals make the
- 41:38playoffs, even if it's as the seven seed, I think Joe Burrow
- 41:41wins MVP because, you know, he could have worse stats than Josh
- 41:45Allen. He could have worse stats than
- 41:46Mahomes. He could have worse stats than
- 41:48Lamar Jackson. He could have worse stats than
- 41:50anybody. But as long as he makes the
- 41:52playoffs, I think he should win MVP because everybody knows how
- 41:56bad that defense is. The Ravens have a good defense,
- 41:59the Chiefs have a good defense. So even if those guys have
- 42:02better numbers than Joe Burrow, as long as Joe Burrows in, I
- 42:05think he wins MVPI. Want to preface this by saying I
- 42:09have. I had Burrow and Lamar as my top
- 42:12two guys. I went with Lamar.
- 42:14But you made a good point with Burrow.
- 42:18But I have a problem with it, like fundamentally, because I do
- 42:23agree that, yeah, their defense is bad and his his production
- 42:27was incredible. And that, yeah, if they do make
- 42:30the playoffs, it would seem it would appear as though he kind
- 42:33of willed them to it. But but you and you also said
- 42:38like he doesn't even statistically have to have as
- 42:41good of a season obviously somewhere near there, you know,
- 42:43in order to get that. It just feels like like I agree
- 42:47with it. I agree with the logic, but it
- 42:49just feels like playing with a handicap and then like winning a
- 42:54championship. Like it's like me and we'll go
- 42:57golfing and I don't know how handicaps worse works if it's up
- 43:02or down, but I'm like 5 strokes worse than him and I barely beat
- 43:05him by like 1 stroke really losing by 4:00 and then be like,
- 43:09oh, get wrecked. And it's like, I mean, yeah,
- 43:14because you told us beforehand that you sucked more than me.
- 43:17Like, yeah, you won. But like I did win.
- 43:21I don't know. I just off to sort that out in
- 43:24my mind later on. I have, I have Lamar Jackson
- 43:30just 'cause I had him at the Offensive Player of the Year,
- 43:33and to me, Offensive Player of the Year and MVP are the same
- 43:38thing. They mean the same thing.
- 43:41It's pointless, arbitrary semantics and everything else is
- 43:45just money, baby. But I got Lamar Jackson won in
- 43:48it. You're not wrong.
- 43:50You're not. You're not.
- 43:53Unless a defensive player just just like, crashes out in the
- 43:57best possible way and then wins it, then I'm like, all right,
- 43:59yeah, you were. Yeah, you're also the MVP.
- 44:04Well, to everybody's surprise here, Lincoln picked Patrick
- 44:06Mahomes, his MVP. Whoa.
- 44:11Who would have thought, right? But to make it interesting, he
- 44:15did pick a backup choice, which was Dak Prescott.
- 44:20Is that a? Is that a snide little remark?
- 44:23Is that a? I can't tell if that's some sort
- 44:26of little jab. That's who he picked.
- 44:30Still can't tell if that's a jab or not.
- 44:33That's who he picked. That's all I have to go off of
- 44:37is his his text that he sent me with his picks for each award
- 44:40and it just said backup choice Dak Prescott.
- 44:42That'd be like me saying my backup choice for MVP was Travis
- 44:47Kelsey. It's like, I mean, he's a good
- 44:49player, but like, I can't tell if that's like, are you taking a
- 44:51shot of me anyway, yeah. All right, so for this for this
- 44:59last section here of our show, do do either of you guys want to
- 45:03want to introduce this to everybody or do you guys want me
- 45:05to? I would like to.
- 45:07OK, Avery, go for it. For as long as I've known these
- 45:12two, they have been Cowboys fans.
- 45:14It's for Joel since I would assume 2nd grade or for as long
- 45:18as he's known about football because he comes from the land
- 45:21down under and Will was born into the fandom.
- 45:25His whole family is Cowboys fans and they've been Cowboys fans
- 45:28for as long as I've known them or around that.
- 45:32Like second grade. I never had a NFL team that I
- 45:36was super passionate about or really cared for.
- 45:40We all grew up in Oregon. Seahawks were kind of the main
- 45:42thing was a bunch of 49ers fans as well.
- 45:45But recently, and this has been a long build up, Joel and will
- 45:53have become disillusioned with the Cowboys to no one's
- 45:59surprise, especially Cowboy other Cowboys fans.
- 46:02This is probably a long time overdue.
- 46:06But we've discussed this and with my situation and their
- 46:12precarious situation, we have decided this season to search
- 46:18for new teams. I'll turn it over to Joel.
- 46:25Yeah, I, I mean it, it we're, you know, Will and I have been
- 46:29Cowboys fans since what, we were seven.
- 46:33I mean, Will's longer than me, but since I was 7.
- 46:36Then was a Cowboys fan. That's how far my my my fandom
- 46:42goes back. Yeah, so, I mean, we've been
- 46:45Cowboys fans for what, that 25 plus years now and, you know,
- 46:49just, you know, not making the NFC championship game for 30
- 46:54years, you know, having the just continuous stupid moves and
- 46:59stupid quotes by Jerry Jones. The, you know, this move to
- 47:03trade Micah Parsons a, an all pro.
- 47:07What's the word? I'm looking for an all pro
- 47:09generational talent who's a future Hall of Famer.
- 47:12He decides to trade Micah Parsons.
- 47:15And Will and I just decided that we're done.
- 47:19And you know, we just, we don't, we can't take it anymore.
- 47:23We can't take it anymore, Jerry. We're out.
- 47:26This was the last straw. Jerry.
- 47:27We are out AS2 very recent former Dallas Cowboys fans.
- 47:33We are reaching out to all Cowboys fans everywhere.
- 47:36Please join us in our quest to find a new NFL team.
- 47:40Please join us because we're done.
- 47:42And I, we know you guys are too. We know you guys are too.
- 47:45Please join us as we search for a new team this year.
- 47:49We would love for you guys to join us.
- 47:50And you know, Avery mentioned that he has never had a team,
- 47:53which is true. He's never had a team as long as
- 47:55we've known him. But you know, Avery saw how
- 47:58serious that Will and I were about finding a new team.
- 48:00And he's, he said if you guys are serious about leaving the
- 48:03Cowboys, I'm serious about finding A-Team for the first
- 48:05time. And so.
- 48:08I do want to say that I did make sure I was clear.
- 48:10I said, look, if this is some sort of, you know, side piece
- 48:16search to find someone to tide you over until the Cowboys start
- 48:21doing bigger things, then I'm I'm not in.
- 48:25But if this is a divorce, like you guys are done, You trade in
- 48:29your Cowboys gears, You renounce, denounce your fandom
- 48:34and announce a new fandom. He's got a cowboy's hat is gone.
- 48:39The cowboy's hat is gone. Cowboy's hat is gone.
- 48:42I didn't. Notice that?
- 48:43I didn't notice that until right now.
- 48:45If we're if we're talking about finding new teams, real teams to
- 48:51to be like a full on fan of, then I'm in and they agreed so.
- 48:58Couple things here, I'm not looking for a new team just
- 49:02because the Cowboys are bad. OK, not making NC championship
- 49:06in 30 years, guess what I can put up with that.
- 49:08K Browns fans or still Browns fans, but the Browns think that
- 49:13they are actively making the right choices to make their
- 49:16future better. OK, there is no possible way
- 49:20that Jerry and his dementia as senile mind can think that
- 49:26trading Dak Prescott for two mid to late first round picks or
- 49:31excuse me, Michael Parsons, my bad, my bad for for two mid to
- 49:34late first round picks is going to better the team to win a
- 49:37championship. Everybody starts the season with
- 49:39the same goal. We want to win a Super Bowl.
- 49:43You just actively chose to not do that this year.
- 49:46Not that they were going to do it this year anyway.
- 49:48I'm not I was never an unreasonable Cowboys fan.
- 49:51I've been very realistic about that team for my entire life.
- 49:54And I think that the the dating all the way back to the
- 49:58$90,000,000 Zeke contract, paying him way too much money
- 50:01for not enough production and the DAT contract, and then
- 50:04actually throwing away good receivers.
- 50:07Dez, Amari, Cooper, every other secondary receiver you've had,
- 50:12Terrence Williams most recently. Letting all of these players
- 50:16just walk away from your team, not signing Derrick Henry when
- 50:19the entire world thought you were going to because, oh, he
- 50:22would have been a good for for our team anyway.
- 50:25Dude, stop or keep going there. I don't care.
- 50:29Let me make fun of you. Everybody else in the world.
- 50:32I don't have to answer to it anymore.
- 50:34There is just so much and this, if you're going through this and
- 50:38I'm I'm making not every situation, I'm sorry, but it
- 50:41truly feels a bit like spousal abuse because I don't have that
- 50:45in my life. I don't know what it's actually
- 50:47like. So if you're actually going
- 50:48through that and I'm making not every scenario, sorry, but I
- 50:51have been fully married. As Avery said, it's got to be a
- 50:53divorce. I have been fully married to the
- 50:56Dallas Cowboys my entire life, my entire existence.
- 51:01I have, I mean, I grew up, grew up watching the Cowboys.
- 51:05It was all I love the Cowboys. I hate the rest of the NFC East,
- 51:09the Eagles, the Giants at the time, the Redskins, then the
- 51:12football team, now the Commanders.
- 51:13I hate those guys just because they're in the NFC East now.
- 51:18Whatever, let's go team, let's go, let's go NFL.
- 51:24So we are taking this year to freelance and we're going to
- 51:27pick based off of I think we all have different criteria we're
- 51:30going off of. I don't think on purpose at
- 51:33least we're all going to end up in the same at the same team.
- 51:37This may be at the start of the 2026 season.
- 51:39This may be all of us rooting for different teams.
- 51:43It may be two of us are on the same team by chance.
- 51:45We are obviously when you continue to discuss this week
- 51:48after week, I think in the last couple minutes we had, we all
- 51:53should say some of the teams we've already eliminated if we
- 51:55want to do that or if we want to save that for another week
- 51:58because I know we've all already eliminated some teams.
- 52:01Yeah, I think, I think just for time restraint, let's just go
- 52:03ahead and save it for, for for future episode.
- 52:07But throughout the season, we're going to be periodically going
- 52:10over this, let you guys know where we're at with our teams
- 52:14and, you know, let you know which teams were eliminating as
- 52:18our potential new team heading into the 2026 season.
- 52:21So we're taking this year to figure out which team we want to
- 52:25root for. And then in 2026, that's the
- 52:28team that we're going to start rooting for.
- 52:29And you know, I already said it once.
- 52:31I'm going to say it again, Jerry, we're done.
- 52:34You don't trade generational future Hall of Fame pass
- 52:37rushers. I don't care how much you have
- 52:39to pay the guy. You don't trade generational
- 52:42pass rushers for anything. And so this, this was the last
- 52:47straw. Jerry, we're done.
- 52:49We're finding a new team. And again, to all the Cowboys
- 52:51fans out there, please join us on our journey as we try to find
- 52:55a new NFL team to root for. That's our final.
- 53:00Thing here final thing here when we are in Vegas for the Raiders
- 53:04Jaguars game, I will be wearing a excuse me, a Dallas Cowboys
- 53:10Amari Cooper jersey, but it's for Amari Cooper, it's not for
- 53:13the Cowboys. I just.
- 53:16I just put put duct tape over the Cowboys.
- 53:19Raiders of it just like just. Just Cooper.
- 53:22Just Cooper. Just print out some, print out
- 53:25some Raiders logos on printer paper and just tape.
- 53:27It I'm not opposed to it. With some with some black duct
- 53:32tape or something, you know? Yeah, are.
- 53:34We good. Anyway.
- 53:37All right, so if any of our listeners have any specific
- 53:41reasons as to why we should join your team, we would love to hear
- 53:44it. We'll read it on the show.
- 53:46So send it to us on Instagram, Facebook X YouTube, whatever
- 53:51social media channel you want. We also have an e-mail which is
- 53:543 guys, 6 balls, nflpodcast@gmail.com so you can
- 53:58e-mail us and let us know why we should join your team in 2026.
- 54:06All right, So, yeah, so that's all we have time for on the show
- 54:09today. It's, you know, it's the
- 54:11beginning of the season this week.
- 54:13So I'm very, I'm looking forward to rooting against the Cowboys
- 54:17on Thursday. This would be the first time
- 54:20that if we're rooting against the Cowboys.
- 54:22And so I am excited for it. Although we do have Dak Prescott
- 54:25as our fantasy quarterback, It's like I'm rooting for Dak
- 54:27Prescott. I'm not rooting for the Cowboys.
- 54:29You, everybody, this is the last thing I'll say.
- 54:32Everybody ever. If you want to be successful at
- 54:36fantasy football, you have to separate your fandom versus your
- 54:39fantasy team, and that is across the board, OK, That that I, as a
- 54:44Cowboys fan wanting to get Victor Cruz on my team because
- 54:48he scored a lot of touchdowns. I hated the Giants.
- 54:51OK, so just because we have that Prescott doesn't mean anything.
- 54:55We're separating the fandom from the fantasy team because you
- 54:58want to win, although that's not a good matchup.
- 55:04All right. So I think next week, it won't
- 55:06be the whole show, but I think next week we'll go over the
- 55:08teams that we've already eliminated.
- 55:10And so we'll kind of we'll start there and then throughout the
- 55:12season we'll kind of we'll work our way towards picking that
- 55:16team. So next week we'll go over the
- 55:17teams that are already out and probably some other topics that
- 55:21are undecided yet just based off of what happens in this first
- 55:24week of the season. Also, just something to note, we
- 55:26are changing our recording day. So the day that our podcast
- 55:29episodes release will change just so everybody knows that.
- 55:33But yeah, that's all we have time for on today's episode.
- 55:36And as always, don't forget to keep your balls played with.
- 55:39We'll see you next time. Bye now y'all.
- 55:42Also, Mark Davis and Sarah Kyle still sucks.
