- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: NFL kicks off tonight and we are loaded today. Jerome
- 0:23Speaker 1: Bettis going to join us. Bijan Robinson and Justin Jefferson
- 0:27Speaker 1: going to join us. In hour number two, we are
- 0:31Speaker 1: stacked today. Seahawks and Patriots tonight kicks off the 2026
- 0:37Speaker 1: NFL season, and we'll get to that in just a second.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Taylor has been sitting on a take. He's upset he
- 0:45Speaker 1: did not deliver this take yesterday, and he wants to
- 0:49Speaker 1: deliver it right now as we get ready for the
- 0:52Speaker 1: NFL season. I'm not certain if it's an NFL take. Mikey,
- 0:55Speaker 1: are you aware of the take that he's been sitting
- 0:57Speaker 1: on here?
- 0:58Speaker 3: No, but Taylor gave me a take before the show
- 1:01Speaker 3: and I've just been mad at him ever since.
- 1:04Speaker 4: And I don't think that's the take you're referring to.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:07Speaker 3: But I've just been sitting here stewing about it. Like
- 1:10Speaker 3: I I'm, I'm angry with him.
- 1:11Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So he has two takes. Cause I believe this is
- 1:13Speaker 1: not the take that angered you. So let's get to
- 1:16Speaker 1: the first take here, Taylor. What do you have for us?
- 1:19Speaker 6: After watching Florida state SMU and seeing Florida state be
- 1:22Speaker 6: three and 14 in its last 17 ACC games, It's
- 1:26Speaker 6: harder to be this bad at Florida State than it
- 1:29Speaker 6: is to be this good at Indiana.
- 1:30Speaker 5: I agree.
- 1:34Speaker 4: I like that take.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Is it harder to be
- 1:37Speaker 1: this bad at Florida State? than it is to be this.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Good at Indiana.
- 1:41Speaker 6: Because those results that I just read, those are Purdue-level numbers.
- 1:45Speaker 6: They're Northwestern-level numbers. You're Florida State. You're sitting in the
- 1:49Speaker 6: middle of one of the greatest recruiting states in America.
- 1:52Speaker 6: You have a national brand, championship history, an enormous fan base,
- 1:56Speaker 6: and your result is paying Ashton Daniels a reported $ 800, 000
- 2:00Speaker 6: in NIL to be your quarterback. I wouldn't take Ashton
- 2:03Speaker 6: Daniels on my roster if he paid me $ 800, 000.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Put it on the poll. What's his name? Ashton what?
- 2:10Speaker 6: Ashton Daniels.
- 2:11Speaker 1: If Ashton Daniels paid you $ 800, 000, would you take him?
- 2:16Speaker 5: Just put it on the poll just like that. What
- 2:18Speaker 5: do you have, Mikey?
- 2:20Speaker 3: This feels like Stu Gotts going 0 for 17 picking games.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Like that's how Florida State, how bad.
- 2:26Speaker 4: They've been is it's almost like.
- 2:29Speaker 3: It's a mixture of luck and being bad that gets
- 2:33Speaker 3: you as bad as they are.
- 2:35Speaker 6: You have to actively work to be this bad at
- 2:37Speaker 6: Florida State.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Yeah. They were in the title game, weren't they, a
- 2:42Speaker 5: couple of years ago? Yeah, but.
- 2:44Speaker 6: The fall off needs to be studied for this Florida
- 2:47Speaker 6: state team for other college powerhouses to be like, what
- 2:49Speaker 6: do we do to not replicate what Florida state did?
- 2:52Speaker 6: And I think the simple answer is not recruit a
- 2:55Speaker 6: quarterback in Ashton Daniels, who was six and 21 as
- 2:58Speaker 6: a starter between Stanford, Auburn, and now Florida state.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Or have Mike Norvell as your coach, right?
- 3:03Speaker 6: I love Mike Norvell.
- 3:03Speaker 5: You do, but you don't.
- 3:06Speaker 6: He should be fired, but.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You can't say that you love a guy and he
- 3:10Speaker 1: should be fired at the exact same time.
- 3:12Speaker 6: No, because this is like separating the artist from the art.
- 3:16Speaker 6: I'm separating the person from the football coach. I love
- 3:19Speaker 6: Mike Norvell, the person.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Great person. Yeah, great.
- 3:21Speaker 7: Yes.
- 3:21Speaker 6: The coach leaves a lot to be desired.
- 3:25Speaker 5: The coach was the toast of Tallahassee two years ago.
- 3:29Speaker 6: And nothing has gone right since.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Ashton Daniels. Funny.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Let's get to the take that upset Mikey. Who wants
- 3:38Speaker 1: to deliver this take?
- 3:39Speaker 5: Go ahead. No, no, no.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Taylor's going to deliver because I won't even spit it out.
- 3:44Speaker 5: All right.
- 3:45Speaker 6: So tonight's the NFL kicking off. My Patriots are in
- 3:49Speaker 6: a Super Bowl rematch against the Seattle Seahawks.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:52Speaker 6: I'm sorry to say this.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 3:54Speaker 6: I'm watching on the TV right now Liverpool play in
- 3:56Speaker 6: their Champions League.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:58Speaker 6: I'm more excited for Liverpool's Champions League campaign kicking off
- 4:01Speaker 6: right now against Atletico Madrid than I am for the
- 4:03Speaker 6: NFL tonight.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Are you really? Because I wanted to talk tennis.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Because last night I was up until 3.30 in the
- 4:09Speaker 1: morning watching.
- 4:10Speaker 5: What was perhaps the greatest tennis match of all time.
- 4:13Speaker 5: And you won't let me talk tennis. And now you've
- 4:15Speaker 5: dragged me into Liverpool.
- 4:16Speaker 6: That Tiafoe match might've been the second. It was the
- 4:19Speaker 6: greatest tennis match of all time. Tiafoe coming back down
- 4:22Speaker 6: two sets.
- 4:22Speaker 7: Yes.
- 4:23Speaker 6: It was the greatest tennis match of all time for like, no.
- 4:26Speaker 4: No, no, no. This is my Christmas Eve.
- 4:29Speaker 3: You guys are not going to take this from me
- 4:31Speaker 3: by talking about tennis and soccer.
- 4:34Speaker 4: No, this is my time.
- 4:36Speaker 1: OK, I'm just making a larger point. I wanted to
- 4:38Speaker 1: start today with tennis. You guys said no. And somehow Taylor,
- 4:43Speaker 1: who was one of the two of you who said no,
- 4:45Speaker 1: has dragged us into soccer talk. You want tennis talk now?
- 4:49Speaker 6: It's Christmas Eve. It's Christmas Eve. And me and Stu
- 4:53Speaker 6: Gatz are over here trying to celebrate Halloween.
- 4:56Speaker 5: Yeah, well, the U.S. Open is my Christmas Eve. I mean,
- 4:58Speaker 5: I love it. I do.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Francis Tiafoe, that match against Mickelson started when we were here.
- 5:04Speaker 5: We were here. Mikey, we were here doing the show.
- 5:07Speaker 5: I got home.
- 5:08Speaker 1: The sun was coming down, and Tiafoe was still hitting forehands.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Stu, when I turned that TV off yesterday before the
- 5:16Speaker 6: Shelton-Alcaraz match.
- 5:18Speaker 7: Yes.
- 5:18Speaker 6: I was tennised out the Tiafoe Mickelson. I said, there's
- 5:22Speaker 6: no way the next match could be better than the
- 5:25Speaker 6: match I just saw. So let me turn this off
- 5:28Speaker 6: and let me turn on the Yankee game.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 5:29Speaker 6: And then apparently I missed an all time class.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Well, that wasn't because you missed a woman's quarterfinal match,
- 5:35Speaker 1: which was a good match on a great match. It
- 5:36Speaker 1: was the match right after Tiafoe. That was Emma Navarro.
- 5:40Speaker 1: She lost to Pagoula. Pagoula, an American, is now in
- 5:44Speaker 1: the semifinals. Mikey is so upset. And then the Alcaraz
- 5:48Speaker 1: match happened, and Ben Shelton beat him in five sets
- 5:51Speaker 1: at 3.30 a.m.
- 5:52Speaker 5: In the morning.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Greatest match I've ever seen. I watched the entire match.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm exhausted today. Mikey, so that's the take. It's the
- 6:00Speaker 1: soccer take that upset you, huh?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yes because you're right we both did say no to
- 6:05Speaker 3: you talking tennis you did even though you just squeezed
- 6:07Speaker 3: that in thank you and i thought i had an
- 6:09Speaker 3: ally in taylor i thought me and taylor were going
- 6:11Speaker 3: to be a hand in hand no no no we're
- 6:13Speaker 3: going to walk into this nfl season which starts tonight
- 6:17Speaker 3: we are going to do this together we are not
- 6:19Speaker 3: going to let stu gots derail us and then taylor
- 6:22Speaker 3: hits me with liverpool and i'm just i'm i'm beside
- 6:26Speaker 3: myself with how mad i am about.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not derailing you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: We have Jerome Bettis, Bijan Robinson, and Justin Jefferson on today.
- 6:33Speaker 6: And just to be clear to Mikey, I'm not trying
- 6:36Speaker 6: to talk about this Liverpool match. Maybe some platform would
- 6:40Speaker 6: let me talk about Bradley Barkola getting his first start
- 6:43Speaker 6: for Liverpool in a Champions League match.
- 6:45Speaker 4: You're talking about it.
- 6:47Speaker 5: This is the platform, yes.
- 6:49Speaker 6: And if you told me I could only watch one,
- 6:51Speaker 6: Liverpool versus Atletico Madrid or the NFL game tonight, yes,
- 6:56Speaker 6: I would pick the Liverpool game. But luckily, I don't
- 6:58Speaker 6: have to make that choice. I live in America. I
- 7:01Speaker 6: could do both things.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Can I just say, you're saying all this while wearing
- 7:05Speaker 3: a Patriots logo right in the middle of your chest,
- 7:09Speaker 3: claiming your best friend, Matt Collins, is playing on the team,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and you would.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Rather watch Liverpool and Atletico Madrid or whoever the hell
- 7:18Speaker 4: it is.
- 7:18Speaker 5: It's a big match.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Instead of talking about your.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I'm using air quotes for those who can't see me
- 7:24Speaker 3: favorite team, the new England Patriots try and get revenge
- 7:28Speaker 3: against the super bowl champion, Seattle Seahawks led by.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Our former quarterback, Sam Darnold. And you would rather talk
- 7:36Speaker 4: about soccer. That's what you're telling me.
- 7:42Speaker 5: In fairness to Taylor, no one cares about the Seahawks.
- 7:45Speaker 5: What do you do?
- 7:46Speaker 6: Well, you do this with Seattle all the time.
- 7:49Speaker 5: What am I doing? You want Liverpool.
- 7:51Speaker 6: No, no matter what Seattle team we talk about.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 6: You always do this thing where you're like, nobody cares
- 7:58Speaker 6: about Seattle. And then I'm left with the consequences of
- 8:02Speaker 6: that where people from Seattle are messaging me saying, why
- 8:05Speaker 6: does Stu always blast Seattle at every chance he gets?
- 8:08Speaker 5: I'm not blasting Seattle. It's a lovely place. I've been there.
- 8:11Speaker 5: I've been there several times. I love it. It's wonderful.
- 8:14Speaker 5: It's beautiful. It's fantastic.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I've been to the Gorge. I've gone to see concerts
- 8:19Speaker 1: in Seattle. I've gone to the Gorge for Dead &
- 8:21Speaker 1: Company shows. My college roommate, Chris Gordon, is from Seattle.
- 8:25Speaker 5: I love the city.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Gordo.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Gordo. How'd you know?
- 8:29Speaker 1: Because there's only one name that can be somebody like that,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and it's Gordo.
- 8:34Speaker 5: It's Gordo. Yes.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So I love Seattle. Just nobody cares about the sports
- 8:39Speaker 1: in the great Northwest.
- 8:40Speaker 5: I mean, nobody.
- 8:41Speaker 8: Nobody.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Listen, the NBA doesn't care about him.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They have one of the most exciting teams in the
- 8:46Speaker 1: history of the NBA with the Rain Man, Sean Kemp,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and the Gloved Gary Payton, and they.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Moved the team. I mean, what do you want from me?
- 8:54Speaker 6: I'm going to extend an olive branch to Mikey A.
- 8:56Speaker 6: We could talk Patriots, Seahawks. Mikey, Travion Henderson, sideline. Let's
- 9:00Speaker 6: get all your thoughts out that Travion Henderson, the Patriots'
- 9:03Speaker 6: star running back, is out for this contest.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's not fair to Mikey. He's just excited that we
- 9:07Speaker 1: have football, and it starts tonight.
- 9:08Speaker 5: That's it.
- 9:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 3: First off, if you want to talk about Travion Henderson
- 9:11Speaker 3: being out, listen, you can do this to me with
- 9:14Speaker 3: the NBA. You can do this to me with soccer.
- 9:16Speaker 3: You can even do this to me with baseball. You
- 9:18Speaker 3: cannot do this to me with the NFL. I will
- 9:20Speaker 3: tell you how Ramondre Stevenson better have lost those fumble
- 9:23Speaker 3: issues because right now Travion Henderson being out is the
- 9:26Speaker 3: best thing to happen to him.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Let's go, Taylor.
- 9:29Speaker 6: I am glad that the Patriots got the Christian Gonzalez
- 9:31Speaker 6: contract done before tonight because I didn't need the unnecessary
- 9:35Speaker 6: drama or... Or distraction hanging over the team. Four years,
- 9:38Speaker 6: $ 135 million, making him the highest paid defensive back in
- 9:42Speaker 6: NFL history.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Deserves it. Does he?
- 9:45Speaker 6: I think he deserves it. At least Mikey doesn't.
- 9:46Speaker 1: How many cornerbacks can you name that are better than him?
- 9:49Speaker 1: Just off the top of your head. Sertan would be one, right?
- 9:53Speaker 5: Stingley.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I can name three.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Who's the third? Stingley is another one, yes.
- 9:57Speaker 4: I I'm going to say sauce Gardner.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Wow. Okay.
- 10:01Speaker 6: But the problem, the problem is you have a Christian
- 10:03Speaker 6: Gonzalez already on your roster and he's their first free.
- 10:06Speaker 6: He's their first, first round draft pick to sign a
- 10:09Speaker 6: second contract with the team in the past 11 years.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Donta Hightower was the last one. Like if you are
- 10:15Speaker 6: the new England Patriots, you draft a guy like Gonzo
- 10:18Speaker 6: to eventually give him a second contract. If we could
- 10:20Speaker 6: debate where he is in terms of top cornerbacks, if
- 10:23Speaker 6: he's a top five cornerback, you pay that top five
- 10:25Speaker 6: cornerback to stay on, stay with your franchise.
- 10:29Speaker 3: And no disrespect to Seattle, the way Stu does. I
- 10:31Speaker 3: forgot Devin Witherspoon, who's also playing in this game.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:34Speaker 4: He's probably better than Christian Gonzalez.
- 10:36Speaker 5: That's why I forgot him. He plays in Seattle. I mean,
- 10:38Speaker 5: I understand.
- 10:39Speaker 3: And you know what? I, we, we just did that
- 10:41Speaker 3: whole thing where we were crushing stupors. And then I
- 10:43Speaker 3: just went ahead and did it and forgot about them.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Yes.
- 10:46Speaker 5: I apologize.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Seattle, Devin Witherspoon's up there too.
- 10:48Speaker 1: To the great people of Seattle. I am not crushing
- 10:51Speaker 1: you or your city. I'm just saying nobody cares about
- 10:53Speaker 1: your sports teams.
- 10:55Speaker 5: And I'm right.
- 10:55Speaker 7: Yes.
- 10:56Speaker 6: I cared about Ken Griffey Jr.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Did you?
- 10:59Speaker 6: Ricardo just gave me an emphatic mm-hmm.
- 11:02Speaker 5: The kid.
- 11:03Speaker 4: And the unit.
- 11:04Speaker 5: The big unit. Wow. Yes. No, they've had some great teams.
- 11:07Speaker 5: I'm just saying nobody cares about them. That's all. I mean,
- 11:12Speaker 5: come get me, Seattle. Seriously. I ain't afraid of you.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Both of you.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Mikey, I am so sorry that we started. It is
- 11:24Speaker 5: your Christmas.
- 11:25Speaker 4: My Christmas Eve.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And in the stockings was tennis and a soccer conversation.
- 11:31Speaker 6: It's a big one for Liverpool. Gotta get started on
- 11:34Speaker 6: the right foot.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 11:39Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific
- 11:44Speaker 2: on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Jerome Bennett is going to join us in a few minutes.
- 11:50Speaker 1: We'll get to Dan Beyer and the sports update in
- 11:53Speaker 1: just a minute as well. Justin Jefferson, Bijan Robinson in
- 11:57Speaker 1: our number two. We are loaded today as the NFL.
- 12:00Speaker 1: kicks off its season. Taylor, let's go to college, though.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Well, not really. It's kind of professional.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Let's go to LSU and Lane Kiffin and what is
- 12:08Speaker 1: going on there, because this has become.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Laugh out loud funny. What is the latest here with
- 12:13Speaker 5: LSU and the SEC?
- 12:15Speaker 6: So it feels like we have finally reached a conclusion
- 12:18Speaker 6: with this story because LSU is adding two players to
- 12:21Speaker 6: complete its 105-man roster for the 2026 season, which eliminates
- 12:26Speaker 6: the possibility of the program bringing in former NFL rookies.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So they've capped their roster at 105. That's the amount
- 12:34Speaker 1: of kids you can keep on a college football roster.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It seems like too many. Seems like a lot. Seems excessive.
- 12:40Speaker 1: 105 kids.
- 12:41Speaker 6: You need people to fill out bodies at practice. Those
- 12:44Speaker 6: scout teams don't.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Fill out themselves.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Something you're well aware of, by the way, right?
- 12:48Speaker 6: I think when I was playing, there was like 120.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Were you number 120?
- 12:53Speaker 6: I was probably 127, if I could guess.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Outside looking in?
- 12:57Speaker 7: Yeah. Really?
- 12:58Speaker 5: Really. That's too bad.
- 13:01Speaker 1: So anyway, the SEC is now scheduled a meeting Thursday
- 13:07Speaker 1: with its presidents and chancellors to vote on whether to
- 13:10Speaker 1: terminate LSU's membership in the SEC.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Let me tell you how that vote's going to go.
- 13:17Speaker 5: All right. That vote's going to go, and LSU is
- 13:21Speaker 5: going to.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Be as strong as they've ever been inside the SEC.
- 13:26Speaker 1: No one is voting LSU and Lane Gifford out of
- 13:29Speaker 1: the Southeastern Conference. Nobody, not a single president, not a
- 13:33Speaker 1: single chancellor is going to say, hey, this sounds like
- 13:37Speaker 1: a good idea.
- 13:38Speaker 5: Let's kick LSU, our best team perhaps, and LSU.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Maybe the most famous guy in the sport right now
- 13:45Speaker 1: in Lane Kiffin.
- 13:46Speaker 5: He might be. Let's kick him out of our conference.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Not happening.
- 13:51Speaker 3: How much are the presidents of the ACC, Big Ten,
- 13:54Speaker 3: and Big 12 hoping that they kick LSU out?
- 13:58Speaker 4: How much are they sitting back.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Going, please kick them out, because we will scoop them
- 14:03Speaker 3: up so fast and just make our conference that much better.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Right. You have LSU in the Sun Belt. Is that
- 14:09Speaker 5: what you're doing there?
- 14:10Speaker 4: No, I had ACC, Big Ten, and Big 12 is
- 14:13Speaker 4: what I said.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Right.
- 14:14Speaker 3: But, yes, the Sun Belt is also like, yay, us too.
- 14:17Speaker 5: So there was a lot of pulpit pressure.
- 14:18Speaker 4: That's how the Sun Belt sounds.
- 14:20Speaker 6: There was a lot of public pressure for LSU to
- 14:23Speaker 6: not add these NFL players.
- 14:25Speaker 7: Yes.
- 14:25Speaker 6: And this feels like LSU kind of conceding to it.
- 14:28Speaker 6: But I don't think Lane Kiffin really concedes to anything.
- 14:31Speaker 6: I think this is Lane Kiffin watching his team play
- 14:34Speaker 6: against Clemson and saying, I don't really need this headache
- 14:37Speaker 6: right now.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:38Speaker 6: Whether we have the NFL players or not, my team
- 14:40Speaker 6: is national title worthy. Let's let's just drop this.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Yes, I'm good without the pros. Yes.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I have this vision of Lane Kiffin just messing with
- 14:51Speaker 3: everybody this whole time like he was never going to
- 14:54Speaker 3: do it.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Like he was just like, watch, watch them all get mad. Watch.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Let's get it up to Congress. Let's get it all
- 14:59Speaker 3: the way to Congress where they're getting involved. And this
- 15:01Speaker 3: is never going to happen. But I'm just going to
- 15:03Speaker 3: keep messing with them.
- 15:05Speaker 4: I'm just going to keep putting my name out there.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Can I hear the voice, Mike EA, that represents the
- 15:10Speaker 1: Big Ten, the big, loud, confident voice?
- 15:13Speaker 5: Can I hear that voice first? I want to hear
- 15:14Speaker 5: that voice first. Can I hear it? What's it sound like?
- 15:17Speaker 5: This is the voice of the Big Ten.
- 15:18Speaker 7: Yes.
- 15:19Speaker 4: The Big Ten.
- 15:19Speaker 7: Yes.
- 15:20Speaker 4: We'll take them.
- 15:21Speaker 5: All right. And the Sunbelt Conference, they sound like what?
- 15:24Speaker 5: Just to be clear.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Yay, we want them. LSU joins us.
- 15:29Speaker 5: We'll take them.
- 15:31Speaker 6: My least favorite thing in this narrative with these players
- 15:35Speaker 6: wanting to come back from LSU from the NFL and
- 15:40Speaker 6: play out a fifth year there. The narrative has gotten
- 15:44Speaker 6: so far out of control, it feels like LSU was
- 15:47Speaker 6: trying to add Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson to their roster,
- 15:51Speaker 6: and instead, it's players that didn't have the option when
- 15:55Speaker 6: the NCAA made these rulings to come back for a
- 15:58Speaker 6: potential fifth year, where yes, they went on to sign
- 16:01Speaker 6: with NFL teams, but if the NCAA had made this
- 16:05Speaker 6: ruling When before they had made that decision, OK, maybe
- 16:09Speaker 6: somebody like Daquan Wright comes back to LSU to play
- 16:13Speaker 6: out a fifth year because a fifth year at LSU
- 16:16Speaker 6: probably pays him 10 times more than whatever a practice
- 16:20Speaker 6: squad could potentially pay him. So that's why I was
- 16:22Speaker 6: kind of on the side of the players where you're
- 16:24Speaker 6: not talking about adding like 10 year NFL veterans. And
- 16:27Speaker 6: that's almost what it felt like the conversation had become like.
- 16:30Speaker 6: LSU was looking into adding pro bowlers to their roster.
- 16:33Speaker 1: No, it's a tricky spot, a tricky situation, unprecedented, one
- 16:37Speaker 1: might say. And the people who lose in this equation
- 16:41Speaker 1: is not LSU. It's not the chancellors. It's not the president.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It's the two kids because no one's running the NCAA
- 16:48Speaker 1: and no one is looking over college football.
- 16:50Speaker 5: There is no commissioner. There is nothing in place.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And the people who lose out are the kids who
- 16:55Speaker 1: declared themselves for the NFL draft and got drafted, wanted
- 16:59Speaker 1: to go back.
- 16:59Speaker 5: To LSU because there's a loophole, and now they can't.
- 17:02Speaker 5: So they lose out. What do they do? What do
- 17:04Speaker 5: those kids do now?
- 17:06Speaker 6: This could just be a never-ending cycle of people suing
- 17:10Speaker 6: people because now these LSU players are going to sue
- 17:14Speaker 6: the NCAA or sue the SEC for denying their chances
- 17:18Speaker 6: to stay and earn money in college. So when I
- 17:21Speaker 6: was in Baton Rouge— My least favorite thing about the SEC,
- 17:26Speaker 6: because I went there and I've been trying to embrace
- 17:29Speaker 6: the SEC culture.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:31Speaker 6: It's just how pro SEC everybody is there.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Of course. Yes.
- 17:36Speaker 6: Because I grew up a Carolina fan. No part of
- 17:40Speaker 6: me cares even the slightest bit or has even the
- 17:44Speaker 6: slightest bit of pride if Clemson or Miami is winning
- 17:47Speaker 6: and saying, oh, that's great for the ACC. And if
- 17:50Speaker 6: you're an Arkansas Razorbacks fan doing the SEC chant because
- 17:54Speaker 6: the Georgia Bulldogs are winning national championships, you're embarrassing yourself.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Yeah, you really are. I am with you. In fact,
- 18:01Speaker 5: I would dare to say that if you're.
- 18:02Speaker 1: A Carolina grad, a Carolina fan like you are, you're
- 18:06Speaker 1: rooting for Clemson's demise.
- 18:09Speaker 5: You don't want any other team in the conference to
- 18:11Speaker 5: outdo you.
- 18:12Speaker 6: Not even, not even just Clemson, not even just Miami.
- 18:15Speaker 7: Right.
- 18:16Speaker 6: Wake Forest is about as irrelevant a program as you
- 18:19Speaker 6: could get in the ACC. And every time Wake Forest
- 18:22Speaker 6: is playing, I look at them and say, I think
- 18:24Speaker 6: this would be better for me if they lose.
- 18:26Speaker 7: Yes.
- 18:27Speaker 1: The Ole Miss president, chancellor, whatever they have there. Is
- 18:30Speaker 1: he voting to have LSU out of the conference or she?
- 18:34Speaker 6: No, they're all voting. We need LSU. LSU needs us.
- 18:38Speaker 6: We need LSU. It's a mutually beneficial partnership. But I
- 18:42Speaker 6: was watching tailgates in Baton Rouge and Baylor Auburn is on.
- 18:46Speaker 6: And I'm like, hey, who's everybody rooting for here? And
- 18:48Speaker 6: they're like, oh, we're pulling for Auburn.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I'm like, why?
- 18:50Speaker 6: And they're like. SEC SEC I'm like okay you guys
- 18:55Speaker 6: have me for about 90% of the day this is
- 18:57Speaker 6: just going to be the 10% that we could just
- 18:58Speaker 6: agree to disagree on Ricardo's an Alabama fan and I'm
- 19:01Speaker 6: an Alabama fan who are you a fan of? University
- 19:04Speaker 6: of Miami oh he's a University of Miami fan you
- 19:07Speaker 6: went to Alabama though man he's.
- 19:08Speaker 5: 305 Ricardo what are you talking about?
- 19:11Speaker 6: He dropped out of Alabama.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Oh, he did. Okay. You're not the only one. Most
- 19:18Speaker 5: fail out. You just dropped out, right?
- 19:19Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right.
- 19:21Speaker 6: It was my volition, Stu.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:23Speaker 6: But do you disagree with the notion that SEC teams
- 19:26Speaker 6: aren't all rooting for SEC teams?
- 19:27Speaker 5: No, no, you are correct.
- 19:29Speaker 4: They do that.
- 19:30Speaker 8: One hundred percent. The only thing is, is because it
- 19:33Speaker 8: was the SEC versus the world. And for so long,
- 19:35Speaker 8: the SEC won so many national championships that it was
- 19:38Speaker 8: like a pride that, you know, nobody outside of the
- 19:41Speaker 8: SEC is going to beat us.
- 19:42Speaker 6: And SEC versus the world. What did Vanderbilt do to
- 19:45Speaker 6: contribute to the SEC against the world where they're in
- 19:48Speaker 6: Nashville doing SEC football chants with a stadium that's half-constructed?
- 19:53Speaker 5: They're there for academic purposes. You are so right about this.
- 20:00Speaker 1: No one, if you're an Arkansas Razorback and you're an
- 20:04Speaker 1: alum of that school and you care about LSU, get
- 20:08Speaker 1: a life.
- 20:09Speaker 5: I mean, what a loser. All of you.
- 20:11Speaker 1: No one cares about the rest of the schools in
- 20:12Speaker 1: their conference. You care about your school.
- 20:14Speaker 5: That's it.
- 20:15Speaker 6: And now you have Johnny Come Lately's, the Texas and
- 20:18Speaker 6: the Oklahoma's doing SEC chants at their stadium. You guys
- 20:21Speaker 6: have been in the conference for five minutes.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Yeah. And there's nothing south about you.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I mean, you were in the Big 12 two years ago,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and you're as far from the southeast as possible. I mean,
- 20:34Speaker 1: what are we doing here? College football, a complete mess.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin, the biggest star in the sport. They're going
- 20:39Speaker 1: to kick him out of the SEC. Our thanks to
- 20:41Speaker 1: Jerome Bettis for joining us in that last segment. Bijan Robinson,
- 20:45Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson going to join us in our number two podcast.
- 20:49Speaker 1: If you've noticed a Pepin Taylor step lately, and how
- 20:52Speaker 1: could you, audience?
- 20:54Speaker 5: Why would you? It's because Aaron Judge is back.
- 20:59Speaker 6: You guys are waxing so poetically. Football is here. Football
- 21:03Speaker 6: is there.
- 21:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 6: The only thing I cared about yesterday.
- 21:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 6: Was 99 returning to that outfield.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Yeah i know but i cared about the uh the
- 21:11Speaker 1: alcaraz match that took me that kept me up till
- 21:13Speaker 1: 3 30.
- 21:14Speaker 5: In the morning last night i'm exhausted you guys won't.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Let me talk about it it's possibly the greatest tennis
- 21:18Speaker 1: match i've ever seen an american tennis is back when
- 21:21Speaker 1: he came anyway that's.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Aaron judge go ahead i hate you I'll have to
- 21:24Speaker 5: take your word on.
- 21:25Speaker 6: That tennis match.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Greatest tennis match.
- 21:27Speaker 6: I'm going to walk by somebody later and go, greatest
- 21:29Speaker 6: tennis match ever. And they'll probably be like, what are
- 21:31Speaker 6: you talking about?
- 21:32Speaker 5: Everyone will know, Taylor. Go ahead.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Just walk around the premises here and say, greatest tennis
- 21:37Speaker 1: match ever.
- 21:39Speaker 5: Where is he when I need him?
- 21:41Speaker 6: So yesterday, Aaron Judge returns to the Yankees lineup. Much
- 21:45Speaker 6: needed to help out a Yankee lineup that had been
- 21:48Speaker 6: pretty bad ever since he left in late May. He
- 21:52Speaker 6: goes over three in his return and Aaron Boone pulls
- 21:56Speaker 6: him at the end of the game or probably about
- 21:59Speaker 6: the seventh inning in this game.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Because he's like, he's just coming back a long layoff.
- 22:04Speaker 6: We're going to pull them just to be safe. Aaron
- 22:06Speaker 6: judge in the post game was not happy about it.
- 22:09Speaker 6: And this was Aaron judge talking about it. All right.
- 22:11Speaker 2: How did you respond physically? I feel great.
- 22:14Speaker 4: I played half a game. So I don't know what to, uh,
- 22:16Speaker 4: what to say about that.
- 22:18Speaker 8: Um, It seemed like you had a long conversation about
- 22:21Speaker 8: that with the manager when he went to take you out.
- 22:23Speaker 2: How hard did you play to just stay.
- 22:24Speaker 3: In there for a full night?
- 22:27Speaker 4: I respect Booney, so whatever he says, I'm going to do.
- 22:29Speaker 6: But, you know, I'm not happy about it.
- 22:31Speaker 3: But, you know, that's where my guy Ramos picked me
- 22:34Speaker 3: up and I had a nice little three-run homer there
- 22:36Speaker 3: to kind of put the game out so we can,
- 22:38Speaker 3: you know, be comfortable going into the last inning.
- 22:41Speaker 4: But, yeah, not too happy about it.
- 22:43Speaker 1: You can't say I respect the manager and then say
- 22:45Speaker 1: I'm not too happy about his decision.
- 22:47Speaker 5: You can't do it. I mean, he did it, but
- 22:49Speaker 5: you can't do it.
- 22:50Speaker 6: So the move he's talking about, he gets pinch hit
- 22:52Speaker 6: for Elliott Ramos or he gets taken out of the
- 22:55Speaker 6: game for Elliott Ramos. And then later in the game,
- 22:57Speaker 6: Elliott Ramos hits a three run home run.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:59Speaker 6: One of the Yankees trade deadline acquisitions.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 23:02Speaker 6: I do agree with you, Stu, because this does come
- 23:05Speaker 6: off as a little condescending towards Aaron Boone. But I
- 23:09Speaker 6: also do see Aaron Judge's side. You haven't played since
- 23:13Speaker 6: late May. You worked all this way to get a rehab.
- 23:16Speaker 6: You're back in the lineup, presumably because you're finally fully
- 23:20Speaker 6: healthy and there's no concern. So why are you not
- 23:23Speaker 6: playing the full game? Because he always gets hurt.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Judge doesn't judge doesn't always get hurt he got hurt this.
- 23:33Speaker 6: Year yeah you're giving him the always gets hurt label
- 23:35Speaker 6: when i think you mean john carlos stan you're kind
- 23:38Speaker 6: of mixing the two together.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I know but judge gets hurt sometimes not not as
- 23:42Speaker 1: frequently as john carlos stan nobody does in the history
- 23:45Speaker 1: of sports No one gets injured as frequently as John
- 23:48Speaker 1: Carlos Stanton, but judge has been injured. Does anyone get
- 23:53Speaker 1: injured more frequently in the history of sports that John
- 23:56Speaker 1: Carlos Stanton, that's the got seven 90 on X. How
- 23:59Speaker 1: many games has judge missed over the last couple of seasons?
- 24:02Speaker 1: It's been a bunch, right?
- 24:04Speaker 6: So 2025, he played one 52 out of one 62
- 24:05Speaker 6: and then 2024. He played 158 out of 162. Okay,
- 24:12Speaker 6: so he's been healthy. But he's coming back off of
- 24:19Speaker 6: an injury.
- 24:19Speaker 1: You guys questioned whether or not he'd be back for
- 24:22Speaker 1: the regular season. He's back, and I don't blame Aaron
- 24:24Speaker 1: Boone for wanting to keep him healthy for when the
- 24:26Speaker 1: games are important, the postseason.
- 24:28Speaker 6: No, I definitely agree with that. So Aaron Judge in
- 24:32Speaker 6: his back-to-back MVP seasons has missed a total of– 14
- 24:36Speaker 6: games the past two seasons. But for this Yankee team
- 24:41Speaker 6: to reach their potential in October, it's going to need
- 24:43Speaker 6: Aaron Judge being fully healthy. So I do agree with
- 24:46Speaker 6: you on being precautionary when it comes to Aaron Judge's return.
- 24:51Speaker 6: I'm starting to walk back my take that this is
- 24:53Speaker 6: my least favorite Yankee team of all time.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Why is that? Really? You made the take. Why? Why
- 24:58Speaker 5: are you walking it back? What's going on here?
- 25:00Speaker 6: Because they have adjusted some of the things that I
- 25:04Speaker 6: was railing against. And they've brought up more of their
- 25:07Speaker 6: young players like Spencer Jones and George Lombard Jr.
- 25:11Speaker 5: To where.
- 25:12Speaker 6: They're at least exciting. They're not always the best offense,
- 25:15Speaker 6: but at least the young guys are causing this infusion
- 25:20Speaker 6: of talent, of supposed talent to their lineup, where it's
- 25:24Speaker 6: not always strikeout, strikeout, strikeout. Because Lord knows I can
- 25:27Speaker 6: only watch Trent Grisham strike out so many times or
- 25:31Speaker 6: watch Jazz Chisholm pout his way after leaving. And I
- 25:35Speaker 6: think Brian Cashman's going to get bailed out by this
- 25:38Speaker 6: Austin Wells decision of not trading for a catcher at
- 25:41Speaker 6: the deadline.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:42Speaker 6: Lord knows I ripped him there, too. Austin Wells, he's
- 25:46Speaker 6: been a competent catcher the past month and a half,
- 25:48Speaker 6: and that's really all the Yankees need from that position.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Is Cashman really going to bail himself out? It doesn't matter.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Whether that works out or not, he'll be right back
- 25:54Speaker 1: where he is right now. Next year, he'll be there.
- 25:56Speaker 1: He'll be the Yankees GM forever. It's a good point.
- 25:59Speaker 6: He's got job security for life. How did he acquire
- 26:01Speaker 6: a bullpen arm?
- 26:02Speaker 5: Him and Todd Bowles. I mean, it's unbelievable.
- 26:05Speaker 1: They have job security for the remainder of time.
- 26:08Speaker 5: It's weird.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Mikey A seems very disappointed with you walking back a
- 26:12Speaker 1: hot take.
- 26:12Speaker 5: That's not how we do it here on Sports Radio, man.
- 26:15Speaker 3: No, it's not how we do it, and it's especially
- 26:17Speaker 3: not how you do it when you got me to
- 26:19Speaker 3: buy into that take.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I am with you.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Well, I was with you, I guess. I hate this
- 26:25Speaker 3: Yankee team. This is one of my least favorite Yankee
- 26:27Speaker 3: teams ever, so much so that I was sent a
- 26:31Speaker 3: pre-sale for Yankee playoff tickets, and I immediately deleted it.
- 26:36Speaker 3: I am not paying to go see this team get
- 26:38Speaker 3: bounced in the ALDS, the wild card round, or whatever
- 26:42Speaker 3: else you want.
- 26:43Speaker 7: Right.
- 26:43Speaker 6: Send me that link. I might be interested in those tickets.
- 26:46Speaker 1: That already passed. It has nothing to do with his fandom.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Everything to do with the drive and the hassle of
- 26:51Speaker 1: getting a Yankee stadium.
- 26:53Speaker 5: I mean, seriously.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Well, yeah, that's part of it.
- 26:55Speaker 5: That's part of it.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Like, if I love this Yankee team, I'd be like,
- 26:58Speaker 4: I'll suffer.
- 26:59Speaker 5: I'll do.
- 26:59Speaker 4: I'll make the trip. I'll pay the $ 80 to park.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:02Speaker 1: So Boone takes Judge out of the game. and he
- 27:05Speaker 1: replaces him with Elliott.
- 27:06Speaker 5: What's his name?
- 27:07Speaker 6: Elliott Ramos.
- 27:08Speaker 5: And that guy hits a home run?
- 27:10Speaker 6: Three-run home run. It was a 2-1 game. Ramos' home
- 27:12Speaker 6: run made it 5-1, put the game out of reach.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Was Judge spotted celebrating the home run, or did he
- 27:18Speaker 1: take his ball and go into the locker room?
- 27:20Speaker 5: What did he do?
- 27:21Speaker 6: I believe he was celebrating. No cameras on the YES
- 27:24Speaker 6: Network caught him pouting, doing thumbs down to Elliott Ramos
- 27:27Speaker 6: as he's rounding the bases.
- 27:28Speaker 1: It's a fake celebration. He's celebrating because he has to
- 27:31Speaker 1: celebrate in that spot. He didn't want Elliott to do that.
- 27:34Speaker 1: And meanwhile, Boone sitting there looking at him just out
- 27:36Speaker 1: of the corner of his eye, like, hey, good move
- 27:39Speaker 1: by me.
- 27:39Speaker 6: Last laugh.

- 28:10Speaker 1: All right, we'll get to our game. Just me or
- 28:13Speaker 1: is it just me or is the name of the game?
- 28:15Speaker 1: Perhaps I'll say it correctly. But Mikey, a funny thing
- 28:19Speaker 1: has happened here. We had Joel Anderson from the ring
- 28:22Speaker 1: around yesterday. He is fantastic.
- 28:24Speaker 5: I love him.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I can't spend enough time with him. He is so
- 28:27Speaker 1: good at what it is he does.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Seriously. His knowledge is excellent. But he made a claim yesterday.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And Taylor has not stopped texting me since he made
- 28:36Speaker 1: the claim that he invented raise the roof.
- 28:41Speaker 5: He just won't stop. He's relentless, Taylor. And I'm not
- 28:44Speaker 5: certain if he believes Joel Anderson. I mean.
- 28:47Speaker 6: So I want to go on the record and say
- 28:49Speaker 6: I believe Joel Anderson.
- 28:50Speaker 5: You love Joel Anderson.
- 28:51Speaker 6: I stand with Joel Anderson.
- 28:52Speaker 5: You love the ringer. Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 6: It's just funny to think that that dance had to
- 28:57Speaker 6: originate somewhere. That celebration had to originate somewhere. And nobody
- 29:01Speaker 6: else has kind of stepped up and said, yeah, I
- 29:04Speaker 6: invented it because Joel's walking around telling everybody, no, I
- 29:07Speaker 6: invented it in Houston, Texas in the early nineties. And
- 29:12Speaker 6: nobody else is saying, you know what?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:15Speaker 6: It's not me. And so I Googled, yes, I Googled
- 29:18Speaker 6: raise the roof origin celebration.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Okay.
- 29:21Speaker 6: 1994 high school pep rally pumping the palm upward with
- 29:26Speaker 6: the elbow out is widely attributed to a 16 year
- 29:29Speaker 6: old student named Joel Anderson.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Get out of here. He was telling the truth.
- 29:36Speaker 5: What?
- 29:36Speaker 4: Well, because he's widely attributing it to himself.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Well he claimed it I mean he saw an empty
- 29:42Speaker 1: lane and he said that's mine Respect. Why are you
- 29:47Speaker 1: laughing in a way that you're covering your mouth with
- 29:50Speaker 1: your hands?
- 29:51Speaker 6: What are you doing? Because I'm just reading further. Everything
- 29:55Speaker 6: that he said, it confirms it because the Houston Comets,
- 29:58Speaker 6: the WNBA team in the late 90s got credit. But again,
- 30:02Speaker 6: Joel was in Houston where he says he originated. And
- 30:05Speaker 6: then in 1997, you got Uncle Luke. Coming out with
- 30:09Speaker 6: the song Raise the Roof.
- 30:11Speaker 5: Yes.
- 30:11Speaker 6: Joel started a movement.
- 30:13Speaker 5: He deserves royalties. He does.
- 30:15Speaker 6: We'll have to talk to Uncle Luke about that.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Get him on the show with Joel Anderson. We should
- 30:23Speaker 5: do that. It'd be fun.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Let's get to Is It Just Me Or. The NFL
- 30:28Speaker 1: kicks off tonight. I wanted to talk tennis the entire afternoon.
- 30:31Speaker 5: The guys haven't left.
- 30:34Speaker 4: And I won't.
- 30:35Speaker 5: Well, I might. You might not have a choice here.
- 30:40Speaker 4: It could be your just me or.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Look at you. Look at me and you. Back and forth,
- 30:46Speaker 5: a little rally. How about it? How about that? It's
- 30:50Speaker 5: been a day. Who's kicking off the proceedings here? Taylor,
- 30:53Speaker 5: you want to go first?
- 30:55Speaker 6: Yep, I'll go first.
- 30:56Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:57Speaker 6: Is it just me or when a team does a giveaway,
- 31:00Speaker 6: a promotional night, It shouldn't be for a select group
- 31:04Speaker 6: of fans there. It should be for the entire stadium
- 31:06Speaker 6: or nobody. I go to a Yankee game earlier and
- 31:10Speaker 6: it was George Costanza bobblehead night. First 18,000 fans in attendance.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Right.
- 31:15Speaker 6: First off, I had to get, it was a seven
- 31:16Speaker 6: o'clock game. I had to get there at five o'clock
- 31:18Speaker 6: just to get in line for the bobblehead. I'm standing
- 31:20Speaker 6: out there like a schlub for two hours waiting for
- 31:23Speaker 6: this bobblehead.
- 31:24Speaker 5: That's because it's a popular gift. Yes.
- 31:26Speaker 6: I mean, Okay, you're the New York Yankees. Have some
- 31:28Speaker 6: pride and say, our attendance is 40,000. We're making 40,000
- 31:33Speaker 6: George Costanza bobbleheads. So Taylor doesn't have to get to
- 31:36Speaker 6: the stadium at 5 p.m.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Right. It's why that team is worth a billion dollars, Taylor. Plus.
- 31:44Speaker 3: I would have liked it better if they did. We're
- 31:47Speaker 3: selling 40,000. We're making 39,000 bobbleheads.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 31:50Speaker 5: And I got to be honest.
- 31:51Speaker 4: If you're 18,001, you don't deserve one.
- 31:53Speaker 7: I mean.
- 31:56Speaker 6: Stu, you don't understand how early people are getting here
- 31:59Speaker 6: for bobbleheads. It's like people are getting the bobbleheads and
- 32:03Speaker 6: then they're just flipping them on eBay for like $ 35.
- 32:06Speaker 6: You can't tell me it's worth it to get to
- 32:08Speaker 6: the Bronx at 3 p.m. for a George Costanza bobblehead
- 32:12Speaker 6: night so you could sell it four hours later for
- 32:15Speaker 6: a profit of $ 35.
- 32:17Speaker 5: So what do you say? And spend those extra hours working?
- 32:19Speaker 6: Yeah, get a real job. And leave me the bobbleheads.
- 32:22Speaker 5: Stop trying to flip bobbleheads. Did you get one? Yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 5: I did. Did you flip it?
- 32:29Speaker 6: No, I kept it right on my shelf.
- 32:33Speaker 5: You don't like George Costanza?
- 32:34Speaker 6: Oh, that's where you're wrong.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 32:36Speaker 6: I love Seinfeld.
- 32:37Speaker 5: I didn't know that. I'm sorry.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Any show that's set in New York, I love. King
- 32:41Speaker 6: of Queens.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Yeah, Friends.
- 32:43Speaker 6: Friends.
- 32:44Speaker 5: You love Friends, huh?
- 32:47Speaker 6: Everybody loves Raymond. Oh, I love everybody loves Raymond.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Why?
- 32:50Speaker 5: Because it's about a sports writer from Long Island? Correct.
- 32:54Speaker 6: My big three is probably Seinfeld, King of Queens. Everybody
- 32:58Speaker 6: loves Raymond.
- 32:58Speaker 1: When we're in Tahoe, when you see Ray Romano, when
- 33:01Speaker 1: you know he's a friend of mine because he says
- 33:03Speaker 1: hi to me every time he passes me, how come
- 33:04Speaker 1: you don't ask Ray to come on? If you're such
- 33:06Speaker 1: a big fan of the show, just ask him to
- 33:08Speaker 1: come on next year.
- 33:09Speaker 6: He never looks like he wants.
- 33:10Speaker 5: To come on. He doesn't want to come on.
- 33:12Speaker 6: He never looks like it.
- 33:13Speaker 5: But he will come on if you ask him to.
- 33:17Speaker 4: He'll get josted.
- 33:19Speaker 1: No, not by him. Listen, he'd be unhappy to come
- 33:23Speaker 1: on the show with us. Because he's always unhappy.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Mikey, you have one here? I do.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Is it just me?
- 33:33Speaker 3: Or if you've seen one overseas NFL game, you've seen
- 33:37Speaker 3: them all as we're getting into the NFL season, as
- 33:40Speaker 3: it starts tonight, I can't wait. There's going to be
- 33:43Speaker 3: a game in Melbourne tomorrow. And I feel like it's
- 33:46Speaker 3: just going to look like every other game that's in
- 33:48Speaker 3: London or Germany or Spain or wherever else.
- 33:51Speaker 4: They get played. They're always sloppy.
- 33:53Speaker 3: They're always not nearly as fun as we want them
- 33:55Speaker 3: to be. And I'll be excited when there's a game
- 33:58Speaker 3: at 930 in the morning just because it gets to
- 34:00Speaker 3: extend my football day.
- 34:02Speaker 4: But if you've seen one game, you've seen them all.
- 34:05Speaker 6: It's the game you're excited for, that 9 a.m.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Game.
- 34:07Speaker 6: And then by the third quarter, you're like, wow, this
- 34:09Speaker 6: is really bad football. Watching J.J. McCarthy play Bo Nix.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Yeah, but this is Rams and Niners.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:18Speaker 5: It's absurd. Did Raheem Morris miss a birthday on his
- 34:21Speaker 5: flight to Australia?
- 34:24Speaker 7: Yes.
- 34:25Speaker 5: I read that somewhere.
- 34:27Speaker 3: He took off on the second, his birthday was the third,
- 34:30Speaker 3: and he landed on the fourth.
- 34:31Speaker 5: Really? Poor Raheem. EP Jason, you have one?
- 34:40Speaker 7: Is it just me, guys, or should the Dodgers and
- 34:42Speaker 7: Dave Roberts just sit Shohei Ohtani for the rest of
- 34:44Speaker 7: the season? They're winning without him. I think he's had
- 34:47Speaker 7: two hits in the last eight games he's played in,
- 34:51Speaker 7: and those two hits have been singles. He's got a
- 34:54Speaker 7: case of the Kyle Tucker toxic mopiness. He's just moping
- 34:59Speaker 7: around the dugout, and let's just sit him for the
- 35:02Speaker 7: rest of the season and bring him back for the postseason.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Is it just me or no?
- 35:04Speaker 5: No, Shohei Ohtani. How about that?
- 35:08Speaker 4: No hit Ohtani.
- 35:09Speaker 5: No hit Ohtani, yes. He hasn't been good.
- 35:13Speaker 6: He's running out of gas. I think there is something there.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Well, that's why the Dodgers are so frustrating. They don't
- 35:18Speaker 5: need him. They never did.
- 35:24Speaker 6: Last 15 days, he's batting 139.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Yeah, but they're playing good baseball without him.
- 35:30Speaker 6: They might be better without him. Ewing theory.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Put it on the ball.
- 35:33Speaker 1: The Dodgers better without Shohei Ohtani. Is it just me or.
- 35:41Speaker 5: Let me try that again. Is it just me or
- 35:48Speaker 5: is American tennis back?
- 35:51Speaker 4: It's just you.
- 35:52Speaker 1: You know, you sit around the days of John McEnroe
- 35:55Speaker 1: and Roscoe Tanner and Jimmy Connors and Sarita and Venus
- 36:00Speaker 1: and Chris Everett Lloyd, Chrissy, and you say to yourself,
- 36:04Speaker 1: when is U.S.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Tennis going to come back? It's been a while.
- 36:07Speaker 1: It's been since Andy Roddick, and now it's back.
- 36:10Speaker 5: U.S. Open.
- 36:11Speaker 1: You have Blake Shelton. You have Francis Tiafoe in the semifinals.
- 36:15Speaker 1: One of those guys will advance to the finals of
- 36:18Speaker 1: the U.S.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Open.
- 36:19Speaker 1: And then you have Pagoula and Coco Gaul. On the
- 36:23Speaker 1: day that football starts, let me just say this.
- 36:25Speaker 4: U.S.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Tennis is back!
- 36:28Speaker 1: Our thanks to Bijan Robinson for joining us. Justin Jefferson
- 36:31Speaker 1: going to join us in a few minutes here. We'll
- 36:33Speaker 1: get to Dan Byer in the sports update as well.
- 36:35Speaker 1: The NFL kicks off tonight. Who do you guys like
- 36:39Speaker 1: in tonight's game? FanDuel has the line set, and we'll
- 36:42Speaker 1: get to what's going on with Baker Mayfield here in
- 36:44Speaker 1: just a second. FanDuel has the line set at 3.5. Seattle,
- 36:47Speaker 1: minus 3.5, taking on the Patriots tonight. Taylor is a
- 36:51Speaker 1: Patriot fan simply because, well, what do you mean?
- 36:56Speaker 6: I'm not a Patriot fan. I'm a Matt Collins fan.
- 36:58Speaker 5: Well, I was going to say that.
- 37:00Speaker 4: He's not a Patriot fan. Not after what he said
- 37:02Speaker 4: earlier today.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I know, but I was going to explain that he,
- 37:07Speaker 1: his friends, best friends with Matt Collins. And so wherever
- 37:10Speaker 1: Matt goes, Taylor becomes a fan of that team. That's
- 37:12Speaker 1: all I was going to say.
- 37:13Speaker 6: My only qualifier that I, Like, I don't like people
- 37:16Speaker 6: associating me with the Patriots because I don't really associate
- 37:19Speaker 6: myself with the Patriots.
- 37:21Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 37:21Speaker 4: I'm sorry. Hold on a second. What is that symbol
- 37:24Speaker 4: right in the middle of your shirt?
- 37:26Speaker 6: Well, this has caused the whole problem today because I'm
- 37:29Speaker 6: walking into the studio in Miami and it's like... Walking
- 37:33Speaker 6: in with a target on my back and everybody's like, oh,
- 37:35Speaker 6: boo the Patriots, boo the Patriots. I'm like, I'm stopping
- 37:38Speaker 6: to everybody I'm walking past going, I don't really care
- 37:41Speaker 6: about the Patriots. I'm just wearing this shirt. My best
- 37:43Speaker 6: friend's on the Patriots. And now they feel bad for
- 37:46Speaker 6: booing me when I walked in there saying, let's go Dolphins.
- 37:48Speaker 6: And I'm like, Dolphins, Dolphins, you guys are about as
- 37:51Speaker 6: irrelevant as it gets it.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Why do you feel the need to explain yourself to
- 37:56Speaker 1: those bunch of losers?
- 37:57Speaker 5: And those bunch of losers are Dolphin fans. Who cares?
- 38:00Speaker 4: And Jet fans.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Right. And Jet fans. So what?
- 38:03Speaker 6: I'm walking through the hallways and I'm getting booed. You
- 38:05Speaker 6: think I like getting booed.
- 38:06Speaker 5: In the hallway? Who was booing you, Ricardo? I don't know.
- 38:10Speaker 6: I have to get names of who booed me. I'm
- 38:12Speaker 6: going to write a list down of everybody who booed me.
- 38:14Speaker 5: How many people? Seriously.
- 38:16Speaker 6: At least four.
- 38:17Speaker 5: What?
- 38:18Speaker 6: Four more than I would have liked.
- 38:20Speaker 1: OK, you should just replace it with Matt Collins's face.
- 38:26Speaker 6: I mean, jerseys are too expensive nowadays. I was considering
- 38:30Speaker 6: getting a Matt Collins shirt. I went to NFL shop
- 38:32Speaker 6: and you have to customize the jersey because they're not
- 38:34Speaker 6: just selling Matt Collins jerseys. It's the A.J.
- 38:36Speaker 7: Brown.
- 38:36Speaker 6: It's the Drake Mays. I go to the NFL shop.
- 38:39Speaker 6: It's like one seventy five and the material is terrible.
- 38:41Speaker 6: That's another thing. Fanatics has completely ruined the Jersey game.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Jesus Christ.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Just know that when Taylor's trotting around town in South
- 38:48Speaker 1: Florida wearing a paint or anywhere for that matter. wearing
- 38:51Speaker 1: a Patriot shirt. He is not a Patriot fan. He
- 38:53Speaker 1: is just a Mac Collins fan. The Patriots logo is
- 38:56Speaker 1: a symbol of his friendship for Mac Collins and his
- 38:59Speaker 1: dedication and loyalty to his friend, Mac Collins. If Mac
- 39:02Speaker 1: Collins was playing for the jets, he'd be wearing a
- 39:04Speaker 1: jet shirt.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Unfortunately.
- 39:08Speaker 3: I don't like associating with the Patriots is wearing a
- 39:10Speaker 3: Patriot shirt.
- 39:11Speaker 4: I'm just right.
- 39:13Speaker 1: So anyway, FanDuel three and a half right now. The
- 39:16Speaker 1: Seahawks are favored. This is a Super Bowl rematch, of course.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Who do we like here tonight? Because I'm thinking Seahawks
- 39:22Speaker 1: for me.
- 39:22Speaker 6: I like the Patriots plus three and a half just
- 39:25Speaker 6: because the Seahawks have so much that they're replacing. Kenneth Walker, Reeves. Wolling,
- 39:30Speaker 6: Kobe Bryant, Boy Mafe off the edge. And when you're
- 39:35Speaker 6: looking at what they brought in, yeah, they brought in
- 39:37Speaker 6: a nice running back from Notre Dame with a first
- 39:39Speaker 6: round pick, but You look at the Patriots moves and
- 39:42Speaker 6: it feels like the Patriots moves were more intentional, bringing
- 39:46Speaker 6: in Verit Tucker to help kind of shore off their
- 39:48Speaker 6: offensive line. Romeo Dobbs and A.J.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Brown.
- 39:50Speaker 6: This Patriot team is a lot better than the team
- 39:53Speaker 6: that they played in the Super Bowl. And I think
- 39:55Speaker 6: it's going to take a while for for the Seahawks
- 39:57Speaker 6: team to kind of get up to speed.
- 39:59Speaker 5: They get a banner raised tonight. What do you think, Mikey?
- 40:03Speaker 4: Early in the season, defense is always ahead of offense.
- 40:05Speaker 3: And I think with the defensive mind that the Seahawks
- 40:09Speaker 3: have and the talent they have on the defense, I
- 40:12Speaker 3: think the Seahawks are going to win this game handily.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Wow.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Handily.
- 40:16Speaker 7: Wow.
- 40:16Speaker 5: All right. Wow. Yeah. It made you rethink your stance here, Taylor.
- 40:21Speaker 6: Well, now I'm switching.
- 40:22Speaker 5: No.
- 40:23Speaker 6: Originally, I said Patriots plus three and a half. And
- 40:26Speaker 6: now I'm switching it to Patriots win this game.
- 40:29Speaker 4: Money line.
- 40:29Speaker 6: Comfortably.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Money line.
- 40:30Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 40:32Speaker 6: I see your handedly and I raise it to comfortably.
- 40:34Speaker 5: You're fading Mikey A, huh? Someone's got to give. One
- 40:39Speaker 5: of you has got to be right.
- 40:44Speaker 1: So Baker Mayfield, he had a two-year $ 100 million offer.
- 40:48Speaker 5: That wasn't enough. He was upset.
- 40:51Speaker 1: And now the bucks have come through for Baker Mayfield.
- 40:53Speaker 1: It is now a three-year $ 165 million contract. They've agreed
- 40:59Speaker 1: to that. So they tacked on a year. They tacked
- 41:01Speaker 1: on $ 65 million. and they made Baker Mayfield feel good
- 41:06Speaker 1: about what he's done in Tampa Bay. I worry, though,
- 41:09Speaker 1: because you have taken the chip off of Baker Mayfield's shoulder.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Perhaps he'll find another one. I'm certain that he will.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Maybe he wanted 170 instead of what it is that
- 41:19Speaker 1: he actually agreed to. But Baker Mayfield, who has been
- 41:22Speaker 1: great and who has earned and deserves this contract, He
- 41:26Speaker 1: gets three years, 165, but I don't like Baker without
- 41:29Speaker 1: having some sort of chip on his shoulder.
- 41:31Speaker 6: So when you see that Baker Mayfield is getting $ 55
- 41:34Speaker 6: million per year, I think we just got our answer
- 41:37Speaker 6: to how much money it would take to put up
- 41:39Speaker 6: with Todd Bowles being your head coach.
- 41:40Speaker 1: $ 55 million a year.
- 41:42Speaker 5: That's it. They can go 8-9, 9-8, and they probably will.
- 41:47Speaker 5: And Bowles will be right back there next year.
- 41:49Speaker 6: This goes back to the point, though, that Chris Sims
- 41:52Speaker 6: makes with us. Yes, this is now the new market
- 41:56Speaker 6: when it comes for quarterbacking, but it's hard to justify
- 42:00Speaker 6: paying Baker Mayfield $ 55 million a year where you're seeing
- 42:04Speaker 6: a team like the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes struggling to
- 42:07Speaker 6: put talent around him because of what you're paying these
- 42:10Speaker 6: top-level quarterbacks. And I think this is now why you're seeing—
- 42:14Speaker 6: teams like the Seahawks winning with Sam Darnold, where they're
- 42:17Speaker 6: paying him like $ 33 million. And then if it ever
- 42:20Speaker 6: gets to the point where you have to pay Sam
- 42:22Speaker 6: Darnold that, that upper echelon quarterback money, goodbye. And we'll,
- 42:27Speaker 6: we'll find our next quarterback. We'll reset the cycle. And
- 42:30Speaker 6: this just feels like the bucks kind of giving into
- 42:32Speaker 6: the demands of, okay, we'll pay a good quarterback, but
- 42:35Speaker 6: not an elite quarterback, this money.
- 42:37Speaker 3: But this is also why there's so much pressure on
- 42:39Speaker 3: rookie quarterbacks coming out of college to start and be
- 42:42Speaker 3: good right away because everybody wants to win while they're
- 42:45Speaker 3: in that small window where we're not paying you record-setting,
- 42:50Speaker 3: market-resetting money. We're paying all the other guys around you,
- 42:54Speaker 3: and you have to.
- 42:55Speaker 4: Be good enough.
- 42:56Speaker 3: That's why I think you're seeing so many quarterbacks come in,
- 42:59Speaker 3: get thrown into the fire, and flame out.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Except Mendoza.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Except Mendoza yet.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Right. They're going Kirk Cousins. No, it's a fair point.
- 43:08Speaker 5: You have that two or three year window where if
- 43:10Speaker 5: the quarterback Bo Nix is in it right now. Right.
- 43:12Speaker 1: With the Broncos. He's kind of in it right now.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Here are the quarterbacks that are paid more on average
- 43:20Speaker 1: than Baker Mayfield. Mahomes at sixty three point one million.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Deserved more. He deserves more. Dak Prescott at sixty million. Dak,
- 43:32Speaker 1: that's a tough one.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Josh Allen at $ 55 million. Joe Burrow at $ 55 million.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford, Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence, Jordan Love, all at
- 43:44Speaker 1: $ 55 million annually. Below that, this is important, below Baker,
- 43:50Speaker 1: Jared Goff, Brock Purdy. I feel like Baker's kind of
- 43:53Speaker 1: slotted in correctly.
- 43:54Speaker 6: I really do. I think Baker's better than Jared Goff. No,
- 43:58Speaker 6: he's for sure slotted in correctly. My argument would just
- 44:02Speaker 6: be you are better off in this next quarterback draft
- 44:06Speaker 6: taking a chance on one of those guys, whether it's
- 44:09Speaker 6: a Dante Moore, an Arch Manning. Even if your pick
- 44:12Speaker 6: isn't the best pick, reaching on somebody like Trinidad Chambliss
- 44:15Speaker 6: from Ole Miss. than committing this kind of financial commitment
- 44:19Speaker 6: to Baker Mayfield when you're the Tampa Bay Bucs and
- 44:22Speaker 6: Baker Mayfield really isn't doing much to help elevate you
- 44:25Speaker 6: to be a Super Bowl contender when now you have
- 44:28Speaker 6: to pay him this kind of money and you still
- 44:30Speaker 6: have so many more holes on your rosters.
- 44:32Speaker 1: They've made the playoffs in two of his three seasons,
- 44:34Speaker 1: I believe. But once they get there, they do nothing.
- 44:37Speaker 1: So you're saying to pay a guy $ 55 million. Mikey,
- 44:40Speaker 1: they've made the playoffs two out of the last three years.
- 44:43Speaker 3: And I'm pretty sure they beat the Eagles one year
- 44:45Speaker 3: when the Eagles were a juggernaut. So to say they've
- 44:49Speaker 3: done nothing is really saying they haven't gone to the
- 44:52Speaker 3: championship game.
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'm just saying for $ 55 million, when you're paying a
- 44:57Speaker 1: quarterback $ 55 million, you'd like to be a Super Bowl contender.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I don't think anyone views the Bucs as a playoff team, yes.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Win a game in the playoffs, yes. Win three games
- 45:07Speaker 1: and go to the Super Bowl, no. Todd Bowles is
- 45:10Speaker 1: my response.
- 45:12Speaker 6: At that point, if this Bucs team wins a Super
- 45:15Speaker 6: Bowl with Baker Mayfield, they would have had to exceed expectations,
- 45:20Speaker 6: you know, 10 times over.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Right. Yes, that's what I'm saying. And so Taylor's asking
- 45:25Speaker 5: a very good question.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Is it worth paying that guy $ 55 million a year
- 45:30Speaker 1: when you could be bad and just get a rookie
- 45:32Speaker 1: quarterback on a rookie contract?
- 45:35Speaker 4: Ask a Jets fan. Ask a Browns fan.
- 45:39Speaker 5: The answer was yes for the Jets. Their quarterback just
- 45:42Speaker 5: became great in Seattle. Which one?
- 45:46Speaker 1: All right, we'll get to our game. Just me or
- 45:50Speaker 1: is it just me or is the name of the game?
- 45:52Speaker 1: Perhaps I'll say it correctly. But Mikey, a funny thing
- 45:56Speaker 1: has happened here. We had Joel Anderson from the ringer
- 45:59Speaker 1: on yesterday. He is fantastic.
- 46:01Speaker 5: I love him.
- 46:02Speaker 1: I can't spend enough time with him. He is so
- 46:04Speaker 1: good at what it is he does.
- 46:06Speaker 5: Seriously. His knowledge is excellent, but.
- 46:09Speaker 1: He made a claim yesterday and Taylor has not stopped
- 46:12Speaker 1: texting me since he made the claim that he invented
- 46:16Speaker 1: raise the roof.
- 46:18Speaker 5: He just won't stop. He's relentless Taylor. And I'm not
- 46:21Speaker 5: certain if he believes Joel Anderson. I mean, so I, I.
- 46:25Speaker 6: Want to go on the record and say, I believe
- 46:27Speaker 6: Joel Anderson.
- 46:28Speaker 5: You love Joel Anderson.
- 46:29Speaker 6: I stand with Joel Anderson.
- 46:30Speaker 5: You love the ringer. Yeah.
- 46:31Speaker 6: It's just funny to think that that dance had to
- 46:34Speaker 6: originate somewhere. That celebration had to originate somewhere. And nobody
- 46:39Speaker 6: else has kind of stepped up and said, yeah, I
- 46:41Speaker 6: invented it. Because Joel's walking around telling everybody, no, I
- 46:45Speaker 6: invented it in Houston, Texas in the early 90s. And
- 46:50Speaker 6: nobody else is saying, you know what?
- 46:51Speaker 5: Right.
- 46:52Speaker 6: It's not me.
- 46:53Speaker 5: And so I Googled. Yes.
- 46:54Speaker 6: I Googled raise the roof origin celebration.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Okay.
- 46:58Speaker 6: 1994 high school pep rally pumping the palm upward with
- 47:03Speaker 6: the elbow out is widely attributed to a 16 year
- 47:07Speaker 6: old student named Joel Anderson.
- 47:09Speaker 5: Get out of here. He was telling the truth.
- 47:13Speaker 4: What? Well, cause he's widely attributing it to himself.
- 47:17Speaker 5: Well, he claimed it. I mean, he saw an empty
- 47:19Speaker 5: lane and he said, that's mine.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Respect.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Why are you laughing in a way that you're covering
- 47:27Speaker 1: your mouth with your hands?
- 47:29Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 47:30Speaker 6: Because I'm just reading further. Everything that he said, it
- 47:33Speaker 6: confirms it because the Houston Comets, the WNBA team in
- 47:37Speaker 6: the late 90s got credit. But again, Joel was in
- 47:40Speaker 6: Houston where he says he originated. And then in 1997,
- 47:43Speaker 6: you got Uncle Luke in Coming out with the song
- 47:47Speaker 6: Raise the Roof.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 47:49Speaker 6: Joel started a movement.
- 47:50Speaker 5: He deserves royalties. He does.
- 47:52Speaker 6: We'll have to talk to Uncle Luke about that.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Get him on the show with Joel Anderson. We should
- 48:00Speaker 1: do that. It'd be fun. Let's get to Is It
- 48:03Speaker 1: Just Me Or. The NFL kicks off tonight. I wanted
- 48:07Speaker 1: to talk tennis the entire afternoon. The guys haven't left.
- 48:11Speaker 4: And I won't.
- 48:12Speaker 5: Well, I might. You might not have a choice here.
- 48:17Speaker 4: It could be your just me or.
- 48:20Speaker 5: Look at you. Look at me and you. Back and forth,
- 48:24Speaker 5: a little rally. How about it? How about that? It's
- 48:28Speaker 5: been a day. Who's kicking off the proceedings here? Taylor,
- 48:30Speaker 5: you want to go first?
- 48:32Speaker 6: Yep, I'll go first.
- 48:33Speaker 5: All right.
- 48:34Speaker 6: Is it just me or when a team does a giveaway,
- 48:37Speaker 6: a promotional night, It shouldn't be for a select group
- 48:41Speaker 6: of fans there. It should be for the entire stadium
- 48:44Speaker 6: or nobody. I go to a Yankee game earlier and
- 48:47Speaker 6: it was George Costanza bobblehead night. First 18,000 fans in attendance.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 48:52Speaker 6: First off, I had to get, it was a seven
- 48:54Speaker 6: o'clock game. I had to get there at five o'clock
- 48:55Speaker 6: just to get in line for the bobblehead. I'm standing
- 48:58Speaker 6: out there like a schlub for two hours waiting for
- 49:00Speaker 6: this bobblehead.
- 49:01Speaker 5: That's because it's a popular gift.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:03Speaker 6: I mean, OK, you're the New York Yankees. Have some
- 49:06Speaker 6: pride and say our attendance is 40,000. We're making 40,000
- 49:10Speaker 6: George Costanza bobbleheads. So Taylor doesn't have to get to
- 49:14Speaker 6: the stadium at 5 p.m.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:16Speaker 1: It's why that uh it's why that team is worth
- 49:18Speaker 1: a billion dollars taylor plus.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I would have liked it better if they did we're
- 49:24Speaker 3: selling 40 000 we're making 39 000 bobbleheads.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Right and i gotta be honest thousand of you not
- 49:30Speaker 1: getting it if you're 18 000 and one you don't
- 49:32Speaker 1: deserve one i mean.
- 49:34Speaker 6: Stu, you don't understand how early people are getting here
- 49:36Speaker 6: for bobbleheads. It's like people are getting the bobbleheads and
- 49:40Speaker 6: then they're just flipping them on eBay for like $ 35.
- 49:44Speaker 6: You can't tell me it's worth it to get to
- 49:46Speaker 6: the Bronx at 3 p.m. for a George Costanza bobblehead
- 49:49Speaker 6: night so you could sell it four hours later for
- 49:52Speaker 6: a profit of $ 50. $ 35.
- 49:54Speaker 5: So what do you say? And spend those extra hours working?
- 49:56Speaker 6: Yeah, get a real job. And leave me the bobbleheads.
- 50:00Speaker 5: Stop trying to flip bobbleheads. Did you get one?
- 50:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I did.
- 50:06Speaker 5: Did you flip it?
- 50:07Speaker 6: No, I kept it right on my shelf.
- 50:10Speaker 5: You don't like George Costanza?
- 50:12Speaker 6: Oh, that's where you're wrong.
- 50:13Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 50:14Speaker 6: I love Seinfeld.
- 50:14Speaker 5: I didn't know that. I'm sorry.
- 50:16Speaker 6: Any show that's set in New York, I love. King
- 50:18Speaker 6: of Queens.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Yeah, Friends.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Friends.
- 50:21Speaker 5: You love Friends, huh?
- 50:25Speaker 6: Everybody loves Raymond. Oh, I love everybody loves Raymond.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Why? Because it's about a sports writer from Long Island?
- 50:30Speaker 6: Correct. My big three is probably Seinfeld, King of Queens.
- 50:35Speaker 6: Everybody loves Raymond.
- 50:36Speaker 1: When we're in Tahoe and you see Ray Romano, when
- 50:38Speaker 1: you know he's a friend of mine because he says
- 50:40Speaker 1: hi to me every time he passes me, how come
- 50:42Speaker 1: you don't ask Ray to come on?
- 50:43Speaker 5: If you're such a big fan of the show, just
- 50:45Speaker 5: ask him to come on next year.
- 50:46Speaker 6: He never looks like he wants to come on.
- 50:48Speaker 5: He doesn't want to come on.
- 50:49Speaker 6: He never looks like it.
- 50:51Speaker 5: But he will come on if you ask him to.
- 50:54Speaker 4: He'll get josted.
- 50:57Speaker 1: No, not by him. Listen, he'd be unhappy to come
- 51:01Speaker 1: on the show with us. Because he's always unhappy. Mikey,
- 51:06Speaker 1: you have one here?
- 51:08Speaker 5: I do.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Is it just me?
- 51:10Speaker 3: Or if you've seen one overseas NFL game, you've seen
- 51:15Speaker 3: them all as we're getting into the NFL season, as
- 51:18Speaker 3: it starts tonight, I can't wait. There's going to be
- 51:21Speaker 3: a game in Melbourne tomorrow. And I feel like it's
- 51:23Speaker 3: just going to look like every other game that's in
- 51:25Speaker 3: London or Germany or Spain or wherever.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Else they get played. They're always sloppy. They're always not
- 51:31Speaker 4: nearly as fun as we want them to be.
- 51:34Speaker 3: And I'll be excited when there's a game at 930
- 51:36Speaker 3: in the morning just because it gets to extend.
- 51:38Speaker 4: My football day. But if you've seen one game, you've
- 51:41Speaker 4: seen them all.
- 51:42Speaker 6: It's the game you're excited for, that 9 a.m.
- 51:44Speaker 3: Game.
- 51:45Speaker 6: And then by the third quarter, you're like, wow, this
- 51:46Speaker 6: is really bad football. Watching J.J. McCarthy play Bo Nix.
- 51:51Speaker 5: Yeah, but this is Rams and Niners.
- 51:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:55Speaker 5: It's absurd. Did Raheem Morris miss a birthday on his
- 51:58Speaker 5: flight to Australia? Yes. I read that somewhere.
- 52:04Speaker 3: He took off on the second, his birthday was the third,
- 52:07Speaker 3: and he landed on the fourth.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Really? Poor Raheem. EP Jason, you have one?
- 52:17Speaker 7: Is it just me, guys, or should the Dodgers and
- 52:19Speaker 7: Dave Roberts just sit Shohei Ohtani for the rest of
- 52:22Speaker 7: the season? They're winning without him. I think he's had
- 52:25Speaker 7: two hits in the last eight games he's played in,
- 52:28Speaker 7: and those two hits have been singles. He's got a
- 52:31Speaker 7: case of the Kyle Tucker toxic mopiness. He's just moping
- 52:37Speaker 7: around the dugout, and let's just sit him for the
- 52:39Speaker 7: rest of the season and bring him back for the postseason.
- 52:41Speaker 4: Is it just me or no?
- 52:43Speaker 5: No, Shohei Ohtani. How about that?
- 52:46Speaker 4: No hit Ohtani.
- 52:47Speaker 5: No hit Ohtani, yes. He hasn't been good.
- 52:50Speaker 6: He's running out of gas. I think there is something there.
- 52:53Speaker 5: Well, that's why the Dodgers are so frustrating. They don't
- 52:56Speaker 5: need him. They never did.
- 53:01Speaker 6: Last 15 days, he's batting 139.
- 53:05Speaker 5: Yeah, but they're playing good baseball without him.
- 53:07Speaker 6: They might be better without him. Ewing theory.
- 53:09Speaker 5: Put it on the ball. The Dodgers better without Shohei Ohtani.
- 53:17Speaker 5: Is it just me or... Let me try that again.
- 53:23Speaker 5: Is it just me or is American tennis back?
- 53:29Speaker 4: It's just you.
- 53:29Speaker 1: You know, you sit around the days of John McEnroe
- 53:33Speaker 1: and Roscoe Tanner and Jimmy Connors and Sarita and Venus
- 53:37Speaker 1: and Chris Everett Lloyd, Chrissy, and you say to yourself,
- 53:41Speaker 1: when is U.S.
- 53:42Speaker 5: Tennis going to come back? It's been a while. It's
- 53:44Speaker 5: been since Andy Roddick, and now it's back. U.S. Open.
- 53:48Speaker 1: You have Blake Shelton. You have Francis Tiafoe in the semifinals.
- 53:52Speaker 1: One of those guys will advance to the finals of
- 53:55Speaker 1: the U.S. Open, and then you have Pagoula and Coco Gaul.
- 54:00Speaker 1: On the day that football starts, let me just say this.
- 54:02Speaker 4: U.S.
- 54:03Speaker 5: Tennis is back!
