Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:04Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Don't tell mum.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to No Dribble. Apparently this is our
- 0:24Speaker 2: fifty second episode. We had a milestone and we missed it.
- 0:28Speaker 2: What we didn't miss And I'm looking at the table, Katherine,
- 0:31Speaker 2: I thought you said you were bringing cake. Was our
- 0:33Speaker 2: birthday last week. It's one year of No Dribble, so
- 0:37Speaker 2: we are now over one years old. I don't know
- 0:40Speaker 2: when do we start teething now? Will there be more dribble?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Who knows what will happen in the second year of
- 0:46Speaker 2: No Dribble. But Happy birthday to us. I am Caroline Swindell.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I am Katherine Cox. And to be fair, I said
- 0:52Speaker 3: I will eat cake. I didn't say I would bring intellect.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I said, are you baking and you said no, I'm buying.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Oh yes, to eat myself. I did have cake, though.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Happy birthday to us. Wow?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm Liz Ellis And how exciting I am
- 1:08Speaker 1: also fifty two.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Oh well, there you go.
- 1:12Speaker 1: It's just like I feel like all my chakras are.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Lining uph Well, we need to get Gordy back.
- 1:17Speaker 2: He's got books and stuff for that if it ever
- 1:20Speaker 2: gets out of alignment. But yeah, happy birthday, she asked,
- 1:22Speaker 2: what a great year it has been. I'm quite upset
- 1:26Speaker 2: about this cake thing. By the way.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I'll look, I'll get my daughter made a cake for
- 1:30Speaker 1: Mother's Day so I can have some cake, but unfortunately
- 1:32Speaker 1: I can't figure out how to get it.
- 1:34Speaker 4: To get it here.
- 1:34Speaker 2: She's a good cook.
- 1:37Speaker 1: She's a great baker, which is no good when you're
- 1:40Speaker 1: going through menopause and you don't really need an extra tire.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But anyway, it's happening. So she bakes beautifully. She cooked
- 1:45Speaker 1: the nicest mode cake last night I've ever had. She
- 1:48Speaker 1: just like whipped it up while the netball was on
- 1:50Speaker 1: and then we had it, so it was good. Yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: she's good.
- 1:53Speaker 3: She was.
- 1:54Speaker 2: She was baking while that game was on because I
- 1:57Speaker 2: was on the edge of.
- 1:58Speaker 1: My seat when she gets nervous.
- 2:01Speaker 2: She loves to be a stress baker like that.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so she's a stress baker. I'm a stress eater.
- 2:06Speaker 1: She unfortunately she's not a stress cleaner, so you know,
- 2:09Speaker 1: all the baking. But ladies, I loved the episode last
- 2:13Speaker 1: week with Gordie and it was I felt like like
- 2:16Speaker 1: a proper drible I just downloading it and listening to
- 2:19Speaker 1: it for the entertainment value. Got to say though the
- 2:21Speaker 1: end the wind beneath our wings, thank you to whoever
- 2:25Speaker 1: that was. I'm still trying to figure out whose voice
- 2:27Speaker 1: it was. And I actually had to use a bit
- 2:29Speaker 1: of the advice from earlier in the episode in the
- 2:33Speaker 1: last part of the episode, So your advice Carolyn about
- 2:36Speaker 1: not crying. But so at the end of the episode,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I had to clench my butt cheeks really hard. I
- 2:44Speaker 1: was I had a touch of the flu last week,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and I'd been away on Monday and Tuesday. I had
- 2:48Speaker 1: a big week of work, and then listening to that,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I got a bit teary, but maybe really emotional. So
- 2:55Speaker 1: thank you to whoever nominated me, and I look forward
- 2:57Speaker 1: to receiving my scrunchy and wearing it as a top.
- 2:59Speaker 2: We're going to send you one there you made because
- 3:01Speaker 2: they were the worst out.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Of the god that won't work.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Well, we stay not actually work, which is why we're
- 3:07Speaker 2: giving it to you rather than sending it to someone else.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But yes, congratulations and congrats again on being reappointed as
- 3:13Speaker 2: Chair of Netball Australia. Congrats, commiserations. Don't know quite what
- 3:17Speaker 2: the correct response is, but we're all happy either way.
- 3:21Speaker 3: We're here with you to support you, Lizellison, whatever that
- 3:24Speaker 3: looks like.
- 3:25Speaker 4: If that's bottles of wine, if that's.
- 3:27Speaker 2: We are the wind beneath your wings and you are
- 3:30Speaker 2: the while you are being the wind beneath our wing.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So it's just this virtuous cycle of everyone having wind
- 3:36Speaker 2: at the same time. As what I'm hearing.
- 3:38Speaker 1: This is true. It's a flywheel of wing. Oh beautiful.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Now, hey, did you have you been nominated?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Have you got a.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Scrunch I nominated myself.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Remember, so we all have a scrunch eat right, you
- 3:49Speaker 3: have to remember we need them simultaneously wear these at
- 3:53Speaker 3: some stage in the near future.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Wow, well, I'm sorry. Please can we make note of this.
- 3:59Speaker 2: This is Catherine agreeing to wear the scrunchy at a
- 4:03Speaker 2: time of Did you notice.
- 4:05Speaker 4: The clause all at the same.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I'm with you. You know I love to
- 4:11Speaker 2: dress the same as you. Kath and I have come
- 4:14Speaker 2: into the studio today wearing exactly the same outfit. So
- 4:18Speaker 2: we've both got a short sleeve white T shirt on
- 4:21Speaker 2: white sneakers and jeans hers significantly more denim involved in
- 4:25Speaker 2: her jeans than mine, just in the length, not the
- 4:27Speaker 2: girth obviously.
- 4:28Speaker 1: But yeah, I wrong to tell you to a part
- 4:32Speaker 1: actually studio this morning.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Remember that twins Twins?
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Snare green Danny DeVito. Oh god, I love being compared
- 4:41Speaker 2: to Danny DeVito. Am I the Danny DeVito?
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'd happen to be, That's one of.
- 4:47Speaker 4: My legs are Danny DeVito.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Hey, whilst we're on last week's episode, can I just say,
- 4:52Speaker 3: Sue Gordion, I thought you were my friend. You are
- 4:55Speaker 3: a messed up human, so you you had to promise
- 4:59Speaker 3: that you would go to Rome or Italy or wherever
- 5:02Speaker 3: you were and eat gelado. I had to sit down
- 5:04Speaker 3: and watch the most random, messed up show, Black Mirror,
- 5:10Speaker 3: and I made the mistake.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Sadly.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I went in there and I thought I was watching
- 5:13Speaker 3: the first episode. I was watching the first episode of
- 5:15Speaker 3: season seven, which was bad enough, but then she made
- 5:18Speaker 3: me go back and watch the one that I said
- 5:19Speaker 3: I would.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Watch, which was episode one series and I in sues defense,
- 5:24Speaker 2: she was very clear that you were meant to watch
- 5:26Speaker 2: episode Yeah, I thought I was anyway, so I've seen
- 5:29Speaker 2: two of them now and I'm done.
- 5:32Speaker 4: What kind of mate is she?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Honestly, don't watch it people if you unless you just
- 5:37Speaker 3: really want to TV.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Hey, ladies, Mother's Day yesterday. Did you ever ask Mother's Day?
- 5:47Speaker 4: Did you get another vibrator?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Sadly, no, my gift did not come with batteries included. No.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I got a cup. I got a teacup which said
- 5:58Speaker 1: on the front I'm a regular And I was like, oh,
- 6:04Speaker 1: that's good, middle grass. Regular moms are pretty good. And
- 6:08Speaker 1: Austin was laughing and I'm like, little buggy, you got
- 6:10Speaker 1: me like basically a cup that said on mediocre. And
- 6:13Speaker 1: then Matthew made me a cup of tea and brought
- 6:17Speaker 1: it in and it was a change color things, so
- 6:19Speaker 1: as when you put hot water in it changed from
- 6:22Speaker 1: black to white. That had I'm not a regular mom,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I'm a cool mom.
- 6:25Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, actually I'm not that cool. But anyway, I've got
- 6:29Speaker 1: a cool cup.
- 6:31Speaker 4: That's very regular.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Don't put it in the dishwasher. I bought one of
- 6:34Speaker 2: these bad years ago from the Tower of London and
- 6:38Speaker 2: it was a Henry the Eighth thing, and when it
- 6:41Speaker 2: got hot, all of the wives who he had killed.
- 6:46Speaker 2: All just disappeared on the mark and as soon as
- 6:48Speaker 2: it went through the dishwasher, it never worked again. So
- 6:51Speaker 2: just check whether it's dishwasher safe, is.
- 6:52Speaker 1: My advice, I think. So I'll double check that.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Maybe maybe you'll just be a regular mum now in purpurture.
- 7:00Speaker 1: For the Yeah, that's that's pretty much.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'm a regular mum who doesn't read whether something's micro dishwasher.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Say, but don't pack the dishwasher, as we all know.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So there you go. How are you guys?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Well? I I placed a ban on gifts from school stalls.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I said I didn't want any gifts. I wanted breakfast
- 7:21Speaker 2: in bed, and I wanted all four of us to
- 7:24Speaker 2: go out to the Swift's game yesterday. So that was good.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I had a wonderful day. I did get a bunch
- 7:29Speaker 2: of flowers and I got something that Dot made in class,
- 7:31Speaker 2: which I'm very happy to accept. But yeah, I just
- 7:34Speaker 2: I just said, I already owned so much. Save your money.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Just be nice to me. Oh my son did say
- 7:40Speaker 2: there is one other gift he has taken. About about
- 7:43Speaker 2: a year ago, he stopped calling me mum, and he
- 7:46Speaker 2: calls me Kaza, and he said, I will call you
- 7:48Speaker 2: mum for the day. Thank you, firstborn child. That is
- 7:54Speaker 2: that is heartwarming. And most of the time he made
- 7:56Speaker 2: a mistake and call me Kaza all day anyway, but
- 7:58Speaker 2: then he go, oh, yeah, sorry mum or whatever.
- 8:02Speaker 4: We did the same thing though.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I banned the stool from school, but in doing that
- 8:07Speaker 3: I forgot to probably tell Harper she walked out of
- 8:09Speaker 3: school on Friday. Mom, I didn't get anything money, so
- 8:13Speaker 3: I don't have a present for you.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I said, it's fine, I don't want a present. I
- 8:17Speaker 4: just want you to get up and turn the kettle
- 8:18Speaker 4: on for me in the morning. That's it. Yeah, like
- 8:21Speaker 4: it's a pretty low bar.
- 8:22Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
- 8:23Speaker 3: But she's distraught wanted to buy me a present desperately,
- 8:25Speaker 3: so I thought that's cool. I said to her, we'll
- 8:27Speaker 3: go to the shops tomorrow. I'll give you twenty marks
- 8:30Speaker 3: that's your limit, and you can get whatever you want
- 8:32Speaker 3: to get me and then give it to me some
- 8:34Speaker 3: I'm literally walking around the shops all day with my
- 8:37Speaker 3: eyes closed, like she's putting me towards where the tap
- 8:40Speaker 3: and thing is like to pay for stuff as she
- 8:42Speaker 3: shuffles it all across the thing, so I've got no
- 8:44Speaker 3: idea what it is. And I scored, got some chocolate
- 8:47Speaker 3: and some bikis, and I thought it was.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Good actually, and like some makeup removing past, it's all
- 8:53Speaker 2: stuff you're wanting to eat and enjoy or actually use.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Yeah, she nailed it.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And I got a beautiful card that said I was
- 8:59Speaker 3: as beautif full as a butterfly.
- 9:01Speaker 4: And as pretty as a parrot.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Oh that's what's parrots are quite beautiful.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I was worrying this when you said you got a
- 9:10Speaker 2: mug because a couple of years ago, I don't know
- 9:12Speaker 2: if you guys know this about me, but won quite
- 9:16Speaker 2: a big international award and that is world's best mum.
- 9:19Speaker 2: So watch and learn, ladies, because I've got the mug
- 9:23Speaker 2: that says I am.
- 9:24Speaker 3: The world's best mum So circle when when was this
- 9:28Speaker 3: three or four years ago?
- 9:30Speaker 4: Do you think you've maintained that?
- 9:31Speaker 2: No, there's way too much swearing now, so we will
- 9:34Speaker 2: all agree that that. Although I did in my netball
- 9:38Speaker 2: game on Saturday with my under twelves, which we did
- 9:40Speaker 2: lose again, but there were some real flashes of great
- 9:43Speaker 2: combinations and some promising stuff ahead. One of the goals
- 9:47Speaker 2: I did set for myself was to drop f bombs
- 9:50Speaker 2: less on the side of the court. Now I don't
- 9:53Speaker 2: say that next to the children. I stand next to
- 9:54Speaker 2: the adults and say it. But it was like I
- 9:56Speaker 2: could probably do a little bit less of that, and
- 9:59Speaker 2: I believe I through the game without dropping one. Wow.
- 10:03Speaker 4: So what was the substitute?
- 10:04Speaker 1: Though?
- 10:04Speaker 4: You had to have something come out of you.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But there's a lot of muttering under the breath, and
- 10:07Speaker 2: you know.
- 10:08Speaker 3: But there's some shits and bloody, isn't it. You haven't
- 10:11Speaker 3: just cut it off completely, you.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Know, you can't. You can't go from having an addiction
- 10:15Speaker 2: to the next moment not having that addiction. So but
- 10:20Speaker 2: coutos to me world's best mum and potentially world's best
- 10:25Speaker 2: netball coach who knows don't have a mug for that
- 10:27Speaker 2: one though.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Well, and I need to thank you too, because not
- 10:29Speaker 3: only did you have your whole family there for Mother's Day,
- 10:32Speaker 3: you were also one eye on my child.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Yesterday, So thank you for that.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Because Welcome Harper came to the game and Will decided
- 10:39Speaker 3: he'd bring his daughter Liz, so the two of them
- 10:42Speaker 3: sitting in a box. They got box seats because they
- 10:44Speaker 3: were the only tickets left Little Turns, but it wasn't
- 10:46Speaker 3: near the.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Court at kra They're up the back.
- 10:49Speaker 3: So I text Carol before the game and I'm like,
- 10:51Speaker 3: her seats closesh to yours. We're both working. There's no
- 10:55Speaker 3: adults up there with them that we know. Can you
- 10:58Speaker 3: just keep half an eye on her? Anyway, halfway through
- 11:01Speaker 3: the game, Will's looking at me across the court.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Like where children because he looked up in the box
- 11:07Speaker 4: and they weren't there.
- 11:08Speaker 3: So I'm like, oh, Carol, and your eyes on our
- 11:10Speaker 3: children by any charts like completely distracted. The Little Turns
- 11:14Speaker 3: kept leaving the stadium to go and get food or
- 11:18Speaker 3: go and get ice cream or something.
- 11:19Speaker 2: They came back with ice creams the size of their heads.
- 11:22Speaker 4: It was Oh.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I was quite relieved. But then at the end, so
- 11:26Speaker 2: there's all the mess, everyone's leaving at the same time,
- 11:29Speaker 2: and I just said to harp Up, well, what do
- 11:31Speaker 2: you have to do now? Is someone coming to get you?
- 11:33Speaker 2: And she said no, I'm going to see mom. And
- 11:34Speaker 2: I said, all right, well let's wait for this crowd
- 11:36Speaker 2: to dissiplate. I will stay with you until you are
- 11:40Speaker 2: with her. And I'm just I look away to send
- 11:42Speaker 2: you a text, and they're gone. Both the girls are gone.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Because what's our little girl's name, Bella? Yeah, she said,
- 11:48Speaker 2: we've got to go down here. And then it's like
- 11:49Speaker 2: I spotted them, and then my daughter's talking to me,
- 11:52Speaker 2: so I can't I can't lose them. I've got to
- 11:54Speaker 2: keep an eye on them. They were fast, Oh they
- 11:57Speaker 2: are not then and then a second later they're with you, guys,
- 12:00Speaker 2: says I'm off Judy now.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Yeah, lesson alone though, don't take a friend.
- 12:04Speaker 3: She's better to sit with the iPad right next to
- 12:06Speaker 3: me and not move the whole time.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Do you remember, you know how like on Facebook and stuff,
- 12:11Speaker 1: things come up about how much freedom we had in
- 12:14Speaker 1: the eighties growing up. You know, you were allowed to
- 12:16Speaker 1: sort of go out and come home when it got dark,
- 12:19Speaker 1: and you know how lucky we were and how we
- 12:23Speaker 1: weren't sort of monitored all the time. I wonder if
- 12:26Speaker 1: in twenty years' time, Half is going to tell a
- 12:27Speaker 1: story with sitting next to her mate Bella with a
- 12:30Speaker 1: few wines going, Do you remember we were so not
- 12:33Speaker 1: supervised in the netball? How good was our life? These
- 12:36Speaker 1: kids these days, there's like they've got to wear these
- 12:38Speaker 1: little monitors so that their parents know where they are.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And they're going to be telling a story about when
- 12:43Speaker 1: they used to get loose at the netball and they
- 12:46Speaker 1: think the worst thing they did was come back with
- 12:48Speaker 1: ice creams and sizes of their heads. But they're going
- 12:50Speaker 1: to have stories to tell you when they're done.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I know, Will was so lax about it. He's like, no,
- 12:55Speaker 3: Bella's got a really good head on her shoulders. They're fine,
- 12:57Speaker 3: and they're fine. I'm like, it's not them, I'm worried
- 12:59Speaker 3: about that was fine as well, but all the other
- 13:02Speaker 3: people around he was so chill.
- 13:07Speaker 2: And it's not like you can walk away from what
- 13:09Speaker 2: you're doing.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's like Catherine, I did love watching the game yesterday.
- 13:14Speaker 1: It was so nice to sit home with a glass
- 13:16Speaker 1: of wine and to watch such a I mean, I
- 13:18Speaker 1: know it was scrappy between between the Swifts and the Vixen's,
- 13:21Speaker 1: but it was still a great game to watch because
- 13:24Speaker 1: it was so defensive. Like just I thought both defensive
- 13:27Speaker 1: ends were just fantastic, just hustling and hassling, and so
- 13:31Speaker 1: from you know, an old defender's point of view, it
- 13:33Speaker 1: was great. But I thought you just smashed it. Out
- 13:36Speaker 1: of the ballpark yesterday. I just loved watching you. You're
- 13:39Speaker 1: so good at the Catherine and little questions at the end.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I did see you interview Shannie Lambdon at halftime, and
- 13:47Speaker 1: Matthew and I were sitting there and we did have
- 13:49Speaker 1: a little giggle. Maybe we'd had a couple of ones too,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and I think you said to her, what do you
- 13:53Speaker 1: think is going to happen at halftime? And we were like,
- 13:56Speaker 1: imagine if she said, oh, I think there'll be some
- 13:58Speaker 1: kids dancing on the call, they're not give away some prices.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It was a very vague question.
- 14:09Speaker 1: To get it. What's the coach going to say, Like
- 14:12Speaker 1: I've done those interviews before, and you've got someone squawking
- 14:15Speaker 1: in your ear and there's lots going on around you,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and you know what you want to say. But we
- 14:19Speaker 1: were crying with laughter, like giving suit. They're giving all
- 14:22Speaker 1: the answer she could have given you. I think I'll
- 14:25Speaker 1: have some acrobats to the.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you stuff happened in the quarter
- 14:31Speaker 2: time and half time breaks at the Swifts games. So
- 14:33Speaker 2: I can't tile in and say you did a great
- 14:35Speaker 2: job because I haven't heard it because I was at
- 14:37Speaker 2: the game. But in the quarter time. They do this
- 14:39Speaker 2: for in a row thing, so they've got the big thing.
- 14:41Speaker 2: When you're trying the balls in one on either side,
- 14:43Speaker 2: you know, it's that that connection four type thing. She
- 14:47Speaker 2: called it when the girl had four balls in but
- 14:49Speaker 2: they weren't in a row, and they went over and said, congratulations,
- 14:54Speaker 2: you've won, and the stadium's going, no, she hasn't. They're
- 14:57Speaker 2: not in a row. And the woman on the other side,
- 14:59Speaker 2: who the the other staff member, was obviously going, it's
- 15:01Speaker 2: not in a row, keep going, And then she got
- 15:03Speaker 2: four in a row, so it was scandal. I know,
- 15:06Speaker 2: four in a row scandal, Yeah, absolutely. But then at
- 15:10Speaker 2: halftime they had the I think it's called the long shot,
- 15:13Speaker 2: the sun Corp long shot, So you get someone from
- 15:16Speaker 2: the crowd to do a shot from the very top
- 15:20Speaker 2: of the circle outside the circle, so outside the sun
- 15:23Speaker 2: Corp supershot range and if they get two goes at it,
- 15:27Speaker 2: and if they get it, they get a thousand bucks.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Sporty Swift had a crack not very good. Then this
- 15:34Speaker 2: young woman, this girl steps up, nails it first go,
- 15:38Speaker 2: didn't even need the two goes, and everyone just went berserk.
- 15:42Speaker 2: This kid won a self a thousand bucks. And of
- 15:44Speaker 2: course she is the daughter of a dribbler, daughter of
- 15:46Speaker 2: dribbler case Selari, and so it was so great to
- 15:49Speaker 2: see because you just you know, when you're there for
- 15:51Speaker 2: these moments that you just go that was brilliant. It
- 15:55Speaker 2: was just a fantastic thing. So that's someone should tell
- 15:58Speaker 2: Sharne Lamb and that's what went on at halftime.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Maybe actually Shanny should have told Catherine that was going
- 16:05Speaker 1: to go on and she should go and sit down
- 16:06Speaker 1: and watch the entertainment.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Correct, Well, someone should sign this kid like that. It's amazing.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Lizzie would have loved the game because Sarah Clowd was
- 16:14Speaker 4: the MVP. Bloody good?
- 16:17Speaker 3: Was she like a little so filled incredible? Just any
- 16:21Speaker 3: ball that came out, you're not allowed to hungry, wasn't.
- 16:24Speaker 2: She's like that is mine, every one of them is mine.
- 16:27Speaker 4: That was just I love.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I love watching her play like that. But I
- 16:31Speaker 1: do love it when she gets the MVP because she
- 16:33Speaker 1: hates it, doesn't She hates hates doing the interview, hates
- 16:38Speaker 1: just hates the intention of being drawn to. I mean,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I've tried to take her under my wing and say, mate,
- 16:43Speaker 1: if you're a goalkeeper get out there and laugh it up.
- 16:45Speaker 1: But she's so humble and I just laughed when you
- 16:48Speaker 1: were doing the interview with yesterday. She just didn't want
- 16:50Speaker 1: to be there. You don't want to talk about herself,
- 16:52Speaker 1: no at all. I mean, I don't understand that topic
- 16:55Speaker 1: about myself.
- 16:56Speaker 2: But anyway, let's get her on as a guest. Sometimes ye,
- 17:01Speaker 2: maybe in a small room, it's a different story. But yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 2: we need to talk about the whole the whole rest
- 17:06Speaker 2: of the round two. But I did discover something quite
- 17:09Speaker 2: shocking from one of the dribblers yesterday. You can't get
- 17:12Speaker 2: gin at the games in Melbourne. They used to have
- 17:15Speaker 2: it and now they don't have it. Oh, I'm sure
- 17:17Speaker 2: you can get wine.
- 17:18Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I'm not to the bottom of this yet, but it's like.
- 17:22Speaker 4: What, how what what are you going to do with
- 17:24Speaker 4: the Grand Fire?
- 17:24Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know. Oh my god, I
- 17:27Speaker 2: think I think I could battle through with what.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Is that a venue thing? So I assume it is.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I assume it's a poorridge, right, you have to do.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Some work here. So we know that the We know
- 17:37Speaker 1: that the Grand Final is at Rod Labor, the Victens
- 17:41Speaker 1: play at John Cain and s of the mAbs, so
- 17:45Speaker 1: you'll have to like it might be different in the venue.
- 17:47Speaker 1: So there's a little bit of work to be done here.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Okay, all right, let's let's let's look into that.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Otherwise, I'm always good for a smuggle.
- 17:55Speaker 2: It's very stressful trying to smuggle alcohol into sporting venues.
- 17:59Speaker 2: So I did that once last year. You might have
- 18:03Speaker 2: seen the video again that I reposted when I thought
- 18:05Speaker 2: I'll take cat through a little bottle of champagne for
- 18:07Speaker 2: Mother's Day and then realized it's can I get confiscated.
- 18:10Speaker 2: That's a part of a crime, part.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Of a ring.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Oh my lord, speaking of rings, I think I'm in one.
- 18:19Speaker 3: This Dubai chocolate obsession. What is going on again, Gordie.
- 18:24Speaker 3: She doesn't bring anything valuable to this show at all,
- 18:26Speaker 3: Dough she apart from obsessions and making me not sleep
- 18:29Speaker 3: at night watching terrible shows.
- 18:31Speaker 4: But anyway, I went on.
- 18:33Speaker 3: She sent me this post during the week about linked
- 18:36Speaker 3: Link's now doing this form of Dubai chocolate. I was like, right,
- 18:40Speaker 3: I'm going to get onto this. I'm going to jump
- 18:41Speaker 3: online and I'm going to order some twenty bucks a block.
- 18:46Speaker 3: And because I was trying to get free shipping. You've
- 18:48Speaker 3: got to order over one hundred dollars worth, so five
- 18:51Speaker 3: blocks of lint chocolate later, I've done my order and
- 18:54Speaker 3: I thought, oh beautiful. So I've got my order through.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Obviously it's in stock. This is great, and you know
- 18:58Speaker 3: what pisses me off? Then three days later you get
- 19:01Speaker 3: an email from them saying, oh, there might be some
- 19:03Speaker 3: delays in your order because of demand, Like, don't take
- 19:07Speaker 3: my order if you don't have the stock and you
- 19:09Speaker 3: can't send it out straight away. So you're just taking
- 19:11Speaker 3: my money. And now you're going to make me sit
- 19:12Speaker 3: back here and wait for this chocolate. We dribble down
- 19:14Speaker 3: my face.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And now you'll be spammed forever about it. But I
- 19:18Speaker 2: love this. So what with the shipping you saved was
- 19:20Speaker 2: probably nine dollars ninety Yeah, and you have without ever
- 19:25Speaker 2: tasting a mouthful of Dubai chocolate. So I better get
- 19:29Speaker 2: one hundred dollars of it to save the nine dollars
- 19:32Speaker 2: ninety of shipping.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yes, but a block each for you to I did.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I did factor you into the equation, so I.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Reckon that is a lie that you because where are.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Half was annoyed that we don't get all five blocks
- 19:47Speaker 3: because I said I'm giving one to you guys, well,
- 19:49Speaker 3: thank you, so it's coming, it's in the mail.
- 19:52Speaker 1: So then do you have to You're free shipping to you,
- 19:54Speaker 1: but do you then have to pay shipping to me
- 19:56Speaker 1: or you.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Have to come again? You have to come and get it.
- 19:59Speaker 4: I think that's part of the.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Carbon footprint on this chocolate delivery is going to be
- 20:05Speaker 2: just astronomical, outstanding.
- 20:09Speaker 1: So what about the games this weekend? Team other than
- 20:11Speaker 1: the Swift's Fixen's, We've covered that, but we'll start off
- 20:15Speaker 1: with Five Birds Thunderbears. I thought it was a good
- 20:17Speaker 1: opportunity for five Birds to get one up with Shamira
- 20:20Speaker 1: sterling out of the frame, but the Thunderbirds did a
- 20:23Speaker 1: pretty good job.
- 20:24Speaker 3: That was the one that I wasn't sure about. So
- 20:26Speaker 3: I com in barb job Jarvis's tips this week.
- 20:29Speaker 4: And thank you Bob.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I got four from four but apparently like everybody got
- 20:33Speaker 3: four from four.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Well two hundred and forty people, so almost half of
- 20:37Speaker 2: the tipping comp got bingo this week. So four from
- 20:40Speaker 2: four with a bonus point. No one got zero this week,
- 20:44Speaker 2: so no one is in the elite category that I
- 20:46Speaker 2: am where you can actually pick everything wrong this week.
- 20:50Speaker 2: But yeah, two hundred and forty people got bigger. There's
- 20:52Speaker 2: two people who got four points, which I'm going to
- 20:55Speaker 2: talk to the tipping comp. I don't understand that because
- 20:57Speaker 2: if you get four games right, you get the bonus.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So I don't understand how you can get four points,
- 21:01Speaker 2: but I'm on it. I will report back on that
- 21:03Speaker 2: next week.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Oh okay, anyway, sorry back to But that was the
- 21:07Speaker 3: one game I was not sure about, and the Thunderbirds
- 21:10Speaker 3: won that by nine. So they lost that first quarter.
- 21:12Speaker 3: I thought, Okay, here we go, I've got this teep wrong.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Blah blah blah. But then Latanya.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Wilson, My god, she doesn't care Shamia Stirling's not there.
- 21:20Speaker 1: She's like my ball for me.
- 21:22Speaker 4: She had ten gains. She was amazing.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Even when she was in the circle and on sholock,
- 21:26Speaker 3: you would never have noticed that twenty odds centimeter difference.
- 21:30Speaker 3: She is such an athlete. She pulled in a few rebounds.
- 21:33Speaker 3: She was like, she was incredible. So I think she's
- 21:35Speaker 3: loving having a bit more room to move. But I
- 21:38Speaker 3: liked the lineup that they started with a bit better.
- 21:40Speaker 3: This week. They put Garrett back in goalkeeper Wilson out,
- 21:44Speaker 3: and then they moved Petty into wing defense. So I
- 21:46Speaker 3: like that defensive one from the Thunderbird. It's a bit
- 21:49Speaker 3: more experience here.
- 21:50Speaker 2: And I wonder if this is a case too when
- 21:52Speaker 2: you have someone who is absolutely excellent, that it does
- 21:55Speaker 2: mean that whoever is not quite them doesn't get as
- 21:58Speaker 2: many opportunities. Is Latania Wilson's going, now's my shot, and
- 22:02Speaker 2: I'm going to take it, and I'm going to use it.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So you know, we may see in extraordinary growth in
- 22:08Speaker 2: her incoming weeks.
- 22:09Speaker 3: But Liz, you would be the first one to say
- 22:11Speaker 3: that a lot of the defensive pressure out the front
- 22:14Speaker 3: just results in the goalkeeper picking up ball they.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Hate, absolutely right. A good goalkeeper is a good goalkeeper
- 22:20Speaker 1: because the win defense and the goal defense are doing
- 22:22Speaker 1: the workout in front of them. So in losing Shamira,
- 22:25Speaker 1: the Thunderbirds lose that extra heightened menace in the back line.
- 22:28Speaker 1: But I reckon they're well enough coach, and they're a
- 22:33Speaker 1: good enough team. That two things, Catherine, I think your
- 22:36Speaker 1: point about Latania Wilson's right. I think she'll find she'll
- 22:40Speaker 1: get a lot more bare because now that's her job
- 22:43Speaker 1: and Matilda Garrett is a really good foil for her,
- 22:45Speaker 1: and she's a grafter. She'll go and do the hard
- 22:47Speaker 1: work to open up Latania a little bit, regardless of
- 22:50Speaker 1: what positions they're playing in. But I think you mentioned
- 22:53Speaker 1: last week that you know, one of the freedoms that
- 22:57Speaker 1: the Thunderbirds had under Shamira was if they lost all
- 22:59Speaker 1: that didn't really matter because she won so much ball back.
- 23:02Speaker 1: And it's going to force the Thunderberrs to play a
- 23:04Speaker 1: different style of game. But I think I think they're
- 23:06Speaker 1: capable of it, which is just a bit more treasure
- 23:09Speaker 1: in possession, not throwing the ball away, not taking risks, right.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But they're good enough and they've got Ramelda, Ach and
- 23:15Speaker 1: George down the other end. So as much as losing
- 23:18Speaker 1: a great player like Shamira can hurt, I think they're
- 23:20Speaker 1: a good enough team that they'll play a little bit differently,
- 23:23Speaker 1: but I think they'll still be in the hunt, yeah
- 23:25Speaker 1: towards season.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Yeah. And it was good to see them respond and
- 23:28Speaker 4: have a good win.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Off those off the back of those two losses in
- 23:31Speaker 3: a row, particularly for their fans as well, because I
- 23:33Speaker 3: think there was a feeling that they were just going
- 23:35Speaker 3: to slowly slip down, but they prove that they weren't
- 23:39Speaker 3: going to do that.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Watching Ramelda though you mentioned her name.
- 23:42Speaker 3: In the first half, oh my lord, she had the yips,
- 23:45Speaker 3: something chronic. She missed ten goals in the first half,
- 23:51Speaker 3: all under the post.
- 23:52Speaker 4: But the beauty.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I mean, she got six rebounds, so she's collecting every
- 23:55Speaker 3: ball that she misses.
- 23:57Speaker 4: But she's certainly there was something going on there.
- 23:59Speaker 3: You can see she's even was putting the ball down,
- 24:01Speaker 3: didn't want to take the shots under the post and
- 24:03Speaker 3: letting Frew come in and take the penalties. Only missed
- 24:07Speaker 3: two in the second half though, So whatever she did
- 24:10Speaker 3: at halftime, just a little bit of a clarity or
- 24:13Speaker 3: a zen or something obviously took place.
- 24:15Speaker 4: But yeah, no, it was a good performance from them.
- 24:17Speaker 2: I know that stats are important, but there might be
- 24:20Speaker 2: a little bit more the life than stats. What do
- 24:22Speaker 2: we have in the Giants game? Yesterday? We had a
- 24:24Speaker 2: young shooter come on.
- 24:25Speaker 4: What's time?
- 24:26Speaker 2: I got six from six percent and then got injured
- 24:29Speaker 2: and went off. So was that yesterday? Is that yesterday's game? Yeah?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Losing track of my day.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yeah, they lost by eighteen.
- 24:36Speaker 2: That was that was tough.
- 24:38Speaker 4: They were down by twenty six.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I know, and then the last spot, which would they
- 24:42Speaker 2: did well in the first quart I thought Matisse leather
- 24:44Speaker 2: Barrow did a great job anyway, Yeah, where we're still
- 24:48Speaker 2: not sorry we hadn't finished on the thunder Thunderbirds are
- 24:51Speaker 2: at home this weekend too, aren't they?
- 24:52Speaker 3: So they are at home to the I'm doing this
- 24:56Speaker 3: game Fever Fever.
- 24:57Speaker 4: That's going to be a good one.
- 24:58Speaker 3: But Janill fowl in there marred back for Fever and
- 25:01Speaker 3: without stealing happy because that was one of the greatest
- 25:04Speaker 3: matchups ever, wasn't it, So that might be interesting. I
- 25:07Speaker 3: think Tillie McDonald sorry Tilly Garrett is the tallest Adelaie
- 25:10Speaker 3: Thunderbirn defender and she still gives away ten centimeters. So
- 25:13Speaker 3: we'll see how that one plays out. But the Lightning
- 25:16Speaker 3: Giants game, yeah, I mean Lightning are looking good. They're
- 25:20Speaker 3: sitting equal second on the ladder now but they're just
- 25:24Speaker 3: playing so beautifully I think, really looking confident too. Now
- 25:28Speaker 3: they started with Batchel, de Irvin and Manawa on the bench.
- 25:32Speaker 3: What a strong, strong bench, isn't it believable to have
- 25:35Speaker 3: that sort of luxury for them? And Carara ConA was
- 25:38Speaker 3: bloody unstoppable. She had massive numbers yesterday fifty six.
- 25:41Speaker 2: So just to be clear, missus Irvan, Catherine did tip
- 25:44Speaker 2: Lightning this week, as did I.
- 25:46Speaker 4: So I did.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I'm off the hook, that's standing. I think well, the
- 25:52Speaker 1: Lightning Vixen's game next week will be the match of
- 25:54Speaker 1: the round, won't it.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Yes, surely, surely.
- 25:58Speaker 3: But I'm also looking forward to I think Gordy said
- 26:00Speaker 3: the Lightning and the Swifts might play the week after.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I think that's round seven. Yeah, that's going to be
- 26:05Speaker 3: an absolute cracker as well.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Be interesting to see what happens in the tipping I
- 26:09Speaker 2: will tell you, Catherine Cox, in the Valor Dribbler's Tipping
- 26:12Speaker 2: comp you are sitting in twentieth position right now.
- 26:14Speaker 4: How is that possible?
- 26:16Speaker 2: I will tell you though you started after round one
- 26:19Speaker 2: you were twenty second, so you started really strongly. Then
- 26:21Speaker 2: you squandered that and dropped to nearly fiftieth, and now
- 26:25Speaker 2: you're back to twentieth.
- 26:26Speaker 4: So I'm a gobst.
- 26:27Speaker 2: We have a Battle Royal at the top of the
- 26:29Speaker 2: ladder with two people, one of whom apparently prefers quidditch
- 26:34Speaker 2: and one of whom has hot tips, battling it out
- 26:37Speaker 2: for first at the moment, still plenty of time in
- 26:39Speaker 2: this season, though, Folks.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Those guys have been consistent, though well done. They happening
- 26:43Speaker 3: at the top the whole way through.
- 26:45Speaker 2: So we have someone by the name of Catherine whose
- 26:47Speaker 2: tipping name is Cat, who won the round this time,
- 26:50Speaker 2: so she will get the fifty dollars valor voucher coming
- 26:55Speaker 2: her way. So and Liz, I reckon, this is about
- 26:58Speaker 2: the first round where you're stratateuge you of tipping the
- 27:00Speaker 2: home teams has not been more successful than my strategic genius.
- 27:07Speaker 2: So that's interesting.
- 27:11Speaker 1: That is interesting. I must have got three, did I?
- 27:14Speaker 2: I think you got three? Yeah? Yeah, so and now
- 27:16Speaker 2: numbers haven't changed in the in the Sexy Ladder, the Susan, Elizabeth, Catherine,
- 27:22Speaker 2: and Carolyn's. The top ten are still three each for
- 27:26Speaker 2: the Catherines and the Susans, and two each for the
- 27:28Speaker 2: Carolines and the Elizabeths and all variations. See, it's so
- 27:31Speaker 2: much easier when you've got a name. Where there's Verio,
- 27:34Speaker 2: there's very few variations on Carolyn, Caro, Carolyn Caroline. That's
- 27:38Speaker 2: about all we've got.
- 27:39Speaker 3: We need to did a little deepole situation and change
- 27:42Speaker 3: your name for the end of the tip.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Yep, for that? Do it?
- 27:46Speaker 2: Sure? Remember when Gary Hocking changed his name to Whiskers
- 27:50Speaker 2: for a week for a sponsorship the Gary the the
- 27:53Speaker 2: Geelong Cats player changed his name by Deed Potter Whiskers
- 27:56Speaker 2: because the cat food organization was sponsoring him to do so.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Well, Catherine, what would you change your name for me?
- 28:04Speaker 1: What's it appropriate thing for you?
- 28:06Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 28:07Speaker 3: Witness protection, sualer, banana hammock. Isn't that what Phoebe did
- 28:13Speaker 3: in Friends?
- 28:15Speaker 4: Oh no, I don't know. What did you do, Princess
- 28:17Speaker 4: can swailer banana hammock?
- 28:19Speaker 1: I love it?
- 28:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it?
- 28:21Speaker 1: You remember that you don't remember anything else. I'm nothing,
- 28:23Speaker 1: You're learned at school, but you remember what?
- 28:25Speaker 3: Do? Give me a Friend's Trivia nine any day of
- 28:28Speaker 3: the week. Anybody that wants to has got one me.
- 28:33Speaker 2: How's your reading going?
- 28:35Speaker 4: Well?
- 28:35Speaker 3: Okay, So I took a couple of bullets this week.
- 28:37Speaker 3: One of them around the fact that I do need
- 28:39Speaker 3: a new book. But I also think I'm needing glasses.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I'm at the point where everything's getting a little blurt
- 28:44Speaker 3: not everything, just when I'm reading it's a little bit blurried.
- 28:47Speaker 3: So I went to have an eye test, and the
- 28:49Speaker 3: lady said, what's your date of birth?
- 28:51Speaker 4: I told her, And you've never had an eye test before?
- 28:55Speaker 3: Like in shock, I said, no, I haven't because my
- 28:57Speaker 3: eyes aren't that bad they are any stonished. But you've
- 29:00Speaker 3: ever had an ite test before? Okay, I get it
- 29:03Speaker 3: on just before fifty I've never had an eye test before.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Well that's really interesting. She was a bit gobsmacked by that. Anyway,
- 29:09Speaker 3: I'm getting glasses. That's something. Then I had to go
- 29:11Speaker 3: and renew my driver's license, so you can tick the
- 29:15Speaker 3: box on how long you want your renewal for. My
- 29:17Speaker 3: last one was ten years, and now I'm at the
- 29:19Speaker 3: age bracket. Well you're not allowed to do ten years. No,
- 29:22Speaker 3: you're only allowed to do five years at a time.
- 29:26Speaker 4: What's that about it?
- 29:27Speaker 2: I'll tell you what both of you you need to know.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I thought aging was going in a linear fashion, and
- 29:32Speaker 2: then at about fifty three or fifty four, it's like
- 29:34Speaker 2: every time I go in the bathroom, it's like, what
- 29:37Speaker 2: the hell has happened to me overnight? So I'm sorry,
- 29:42Speaker 2: it's coming. It's good. It's a great privilege to be
- 29:44Speaker 2: getting older, but things change faster.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I just don't need to point it out now.
- 29:50Speaker 3: I'd rather discover it on my own.
- 29:52Speaker 2: I don't think she was being critical of you. I
- 29:54Speaker 2: think that she was. I'm surprised you haven't ever had
- 29:57Speaker 2: an IT test. A lot of people I know who
- 29:59Speaker 2: haven't needed glasses have had headaches or whatever, so they
- 30:02Speaker 2: go and get their eyes tested. No, it's not that,
- 30:04Speaker 2: so I too am surprised. But yeah, and weirdly, I'm
- 30:08Speaker 2: not in reading glasses. I'll be fifty six this year.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I'm not in reading glasses. I've been in distance glasses
- 30:12Speaker 2: since I was eighteen, but my prescription has barely changed.
- 30:15Speaker 2: But I'm still not in reading glasses. So it's not
- 30:18Speaker 2: all necessarily age related.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Okay, great, I'll take that and thank you for making
- 30:22Speaker 3: me feel better. So, but do you have a book
- 30:24Speaker 3: for me?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Well, I have a book that I've really enjoyed it.
- 30:27Speaker 2: It's fiction, so I'm not sure that you're no.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Okay.
- 30:30Speaker 2: It's also by the name of James Bradley in Australian author.
- 30:32Speaker 2: He's written Cracky. You know you read all these books
- 30:35Speaker 2: about their climate fiction. They're called cli fi, and it's
- 30:38Speaker 2: all the disasters that are befalling us and it's like, oh,
- 30:41Speaker 2: it's a bit depressing, but he has written this cracking mystery.
- 30:44Speaker 2: There's a kid that goes missing and the race against
- 30:47Speaker 2: time is this giant storm that's coming and it's set
- 30:50Speaker 2: in Sydney at some stage in the near future where
- 30:53Speaker 2: everything's flooded and obviously if your wealthy, life's a whole
- 30:55Speaker 2: lot better. But it's just it's a really it's a
- 30:58Speaker 2: really good reader, great ripping sort of thriller about you know,
- 31:03Speaker 2: will these police officers find this this child in time
- 31:06Speaker 2: before the storm comes that will inevitably killer and all
- 31:09Speaker 2: this heat and whatever. So highly recommend it. James Bradley Landfall.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I will I will Dribblers, thank you for your request.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Last time. I will put this on the Facebook page.
- 31:17Speaker 2: But it was it was just it really carried me
- 31:21Speaker 2: along this story.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Is there a movie similar to that? The Day After Tomorrow?
- 31:25Speaker 4: Is that what it's called?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's exactly.
- 31:28Speaker 4: The same stuff, it's not.
- 31:30Speaker 2: That's where Pole of Vortex comes over the whole of
- 31:34Speaker 2: the Northern Hemisphere.
- 31:36Speaker 4: And a big title wave.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I love that. I love that movie. I love a
- 31:41Speaker 2: big sort of catastrophe.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Movie like that.
- 31:44Speaker 2: And they're hold up in the New York Library and
- 31:46Speaker 2: burning the books and Dennis Quaids walking across the snow
- 31:51Speaker 2: and then they fall through into this shopping mall. I
- 31:53Speaker 2: love it, but no, it's sort of it's it's look,
- 31:56Speaker 2: it's less American than that. I can describe it, but
- 32:00Speaker 2: I highly recommend it, so I will. I will share
- 32:02Speaker 2: that on the Facebook page.
- 32:04Speaker 4: You'd have no time to read, Lizellis, would you, unless
- 32:07Speaker 4: it's now.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I went to the library in the school holidays. I
- 32:10Speaker 1: took the kids and I borrowed a book and I
- 32:12Speaker 1: haven't opened it, so I once I opened it, I'll
- 32:15Speaker 1: let you know. I can't any good or lot want you.
- 32:18Speaker 4: To finish that. In twenty twenty seven.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Something quite exciting about library, though there's a sentence you
- 32:24Speaker 2: don't here every day. I got a note through from
- 32:26Speaker 2: my agent last week. My little novel that came out
- 32:29Speaker 2: in twenty twenty three. I get paid as the author
- 32:32Speaker 2: every time someone borrows it from the library. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:37Speaker 2: thank you. So it's and it's not a huge amount
- 32:39Speaker 2: of money, but it's like, wow, that's really nice.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Can you borrow mine cats from?
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yes, that's right. You need to register for this thing through.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I don't know maybe the copyright agency, Liz, but you
- 32:50Speaker 2: need to get your book registered on it. But they
- 32:52Speaker 2: now acknowledge that libraries are relying on this. So it's
- 32:55Speaker 2: a government program where where authors are paid a small
- 33:00Speaker 2: amount of you know, like I think it's twenty cents
- 33:02Speaker 2: or something like that, but you know, it's like, it's
- 33:04Speaker 2: nice to get twenty cents if someone's enjoyed your work,
- 33:07Speaker 2: and better than getting not twenty cents, that's right.
- 33:11Speaker 1: So it's two schemes. It's a public lending rights, which
- 33:16Speaker 1: is public libraries, but also it's the educational lending rights,
- 33:18Speaker 1: so school library. So Carolyn, I don't think your book's
- 33:21Speaker 1: probably going to be in a school library. I don't
- 33:23Speaker 1: think my netball books that I write years ago are
- 33:24Speaker 1: in school library. So every year you get a nice
- 33:27Speaker 1: little check.
- 33:28Speaker 3: At first you don't conceive it's probably not the school library.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Either, if at first you don't conceive too much discussion
- 33:34Speaker 1: about you know, vaginas and penises and things like that.
- 33:38Speaker 2: But also what we're trying to do is get girls
- 33:40Speaker 2: through high school without having that issue.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Yes, that is true. Well, I do you know. He's
- 33:45Speaker 1: a little segue which we didn't plan, but one of
- 33:48Speaker 1: the things that I realized when I was writing that book,
- 33:50Speaker 1: if at first you don't conceive a friendly guard to infertility,
- 33:54Speaker 1: was that you spend so much of your education, like
- 33:56Speaker 1: all the education the sex set is about how to
- 33:59Speaker 1: not fall pregnant, right, but then you actually don't know
- 34:02Speaker 1: about how too fall pregnant. When the time comes, you've
- 34:06Speaker 1: got to go out and educate yourself on that. So
- 34:08Speaker 1: I did speak to some women when I was writing
- 34:10Speaker 1: the book. I went to a conference that they were
- 34:13Speaker 1: at and spoke to them, and they were trying to
- 34:16Speaker 1: set up a bit of a foundation that actually ran
- 34:19Speaker 1: education programs through school, so it was sort of hand
- 34:22Speaker 1: in hand with sex education, but it also educated boys
- 34:28Speaker 1: and girls on fertility and the things you might do
- 34:31Speaker 1: in your youth that might affect fertility, like smoking and
- 34:34Speaker 1: drinking and drugs and all that stuff. It doesn't affect
- 34:36Speaker 1: your sperm quality and your equality. So it was such
- 34:40Speaker 1: a massive lightbulb moment for me when I was writing it,
- 34:43Speaker 1: and I was learning things right, and I already punched
- 34:45Speaker 1: out my two kids and I was too old to
- 34:47Speaker 1: have any more. But I learned so much writing the
- 34:50Speaker 1: book about fertility and how it works and what affects
- 34:53Speaker 1: it in a positive way in a negative way, And
- 34:55Speaker 1: I thought, our kids, kids don't learn this at school,
- 34:58Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Well, when you're learn very little about our body. Certainly
- 35:01Speaker 2: when I was in high school, there was not a
- 35:03Speaker 2: whole lot. Dolly Doctor was about the only thing that
- 35:06Speaker 2: you could go to for any advice. But yeah, I
- 35:10Speaker 2: think this. Have you got a story in Liza's book
- 35:12Speaker 2: because your fertility story in there. Mine's in there because
- 35:15Speaker 2: I went absolutely insane trying to find trying to feel
- 35:19Speaker 2: pregnant with my daughter. Because this woman who I met
- 35:24Speaker 2: at a literary event, who was not in any way
- 35:27Speaker 2: a fertility expert, looked at me and said, yes, I
- 35:30Speaker 2: feel like we need to draw some energy down here
- 35:33Speaker 2: and gestured towards my nether regions, and she said, I
- 35:36Speaker 2: think you should start wearing red and orange underpants and
- 35:39Speaker 2: perhaps hula hooping. And then in that moment, I thought,
- 35:43Speaker 2: you're insane. I'm walking away. But then next time I
- 35:46Speaker 2: got my period, I thought, pla hooping could be fun.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I might go and buy myself some fancy new underpants
- 35:53Speaker 2: this week and a little bit, because it just messes
- 35:55Speaker 2: with your head so much, doesn't it.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, it was interesting that like a
- 36:00Speaker 1: couple of the like the medical practitions I spoke to
- 36:03Speaker 1: the fertility experts, they were, you know, they're a bit
- 36:07Speaker 1: dismissive of sort of complimentary medicines, not whole hooping.
- 36:12Speaker 2: But things like that would be parable.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you mate to a natural marabic. But one of
- 36:17Speaker 1: the things that I really found out through this process
- 36:20Speaker 1: was how powerful your brainings. And there was this tiny
- 36:23Speaker 1: little study that hasn't been replicated on a large scale
- 36:25Speaker 1: about how watching comedy after you have an embryo implant
- 36:30Speaker 1: in IVF can can lead potentially lead to the greatest
- 36:35Speaker 1: success of the embryo. Meaning when you laugh professional, yeah,
- 36:41Speaker 1: you release hormones exactly Carolyn Swindel, your Friendly Guide to Fertility, laugh, right,
- 36:49Speaker 1: but you release hormones that are really good for you.
- 36:51Speaker 1: They're like they make your relaxes. And we used to
- 36:53Speaker 1: say that when we're playing, if you're feeling nervous and stress,
- 36:55Speaker 1: if you smile, it actually makes your body, your shoulders
- 36:58Speaker 1: drop and your relax a little bit. And this hasn't
- 36:59Speaker 1: been replicated, but I remember saying to like this doctor,
- 37:04Speaker 1: I was like, what you guys probably don't appreciate even
- 37:06Speaker 1: though sometimes some of this stuff around acupuncture and massage
- 37:10Speaker 1: and all that sort of stuff can't be replicated at
- 37:12Speaker 1: large scales. It's not the actual treatment, it's the mental
- 37:17Speaker 1: sort of stability that comes with feeling like in the
- 37:20Speaker 1: whole set of treatment where you are really out of control.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Sometimes choosing to do acupunctural massage gives you a sense
- 37:27Speaker 1: of control. I'm controlling one little thing in this process.
- 37:29Speaker 1: So comedy, Carolyn is a good thing.
- 37:32Speaker 2: There you go, ladies out, you go, go and support
- 37:35Speaker 2: live comedy.
- 37:36Speaker 3: How many teenage pregnancies have you got people coming to
- 37:38Speaker 3: your shot?
- 37:43Speaker 2: I take no responsibility for those children. That is fascinating,
- 37:47Speaker 2: and I do think and there's also it's not just
- 37:49Speaker 2: that I've got control over this, but I'm doing something
- 37:53Speaker 2: well while other people are doing things to me. This
- 37:55Speaker 2: is something that I am doing today, and I think, well,
- 37:58Speaker 2: that's obviously that can troll issue there. But yeah, that's fascinating.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 2: So Liz's book, if at first you don't conceive, go
- 38:05Speaker 2: and borrow it from a library. No, don't lend your
- 38:08Speaker 2: copy to someone else because the writer author gets nothing,
- 38:12Speaker 2: And go and borrow my book. We only want what's
- 38:14Speaker 2: best from a library too, because this is good for
- 38:17Speaker 2: Australian writers.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I'm going to the library. I actually had this conversation
- 38:20Speaker 3: all week. I said to half, we've.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Got to go. We've got to go. I need a book.
- 38:22Speaker 4: I can't keep buying books.
- 38:24Speaker 2: And then you've got a house full of books too.
- 38:26Speaker 2: I'm a kindle person and I will usually I love
- 38:29Speaker 2: owning books. We've got a big wall of bookshelves with
- 38:32Speaker 2: books that I like. But now I buy something on
- 38:35Speaker 2: Kindle and if I really like it, if I love it,
- 38:39Speaker 2: then I will go and buy a hard copy of it.
- 38:42Speaker 2: So I end up buying some books twice. But most
- 38:44Speaker 2: books I'm only using, I'm only buying once and they
- 38:46Speaker 2: stay in my kindle, not taking up space in my house,
- 38:50Speaker 2: not requiring dusting.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Guys, I know we have to have a little break.
- 38:55Speaker 1: But on the other side of the break, I'm going
- 38:57Speaker 1: to tell you about my netbook come back.
- 39:03Speaker 2: So, Liz, you did tell us that you were going
- 39:05Speaker 2: to tell us about your netball comeback, and I don't know,
- 39:09Speaker 2: I feel like this should be something you should be
- 39:11Speaker 2: advising the mainstream media of first. But this is where
- 39:15Speaker 2: we get the really inside Goss of netball.
- 39:19Speaker 1: That's where you find out. So there is no I
- 39:21Speaker 1: mean some of them might say there's a correlation between
- 39:23Speaker 1: the article that was in the Weekend Australian on Saturday
- 39:27Speaker 1: where Mark A. Bibb, the CEO of the AOC, was
- 39:30Speaker 1: quite as saying he would like to see netball in
- 39:32Speaker 1: the Olympics, and the Chair of Netball Australia was saying, oh,
- 39:35Speaker 1: we are investigating. So I read that article and I
- 39:37Speaker 1: thought it's about time that I made my netball come back.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Oh there we go.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so I went down to the ballot.
- 39:44Speaker 2: And it's also because of wind beneath our wings last week.
- 39:48Speaker 1: No, it's also because I coached a little team and
- 39:50Speaker 1: we had a game on Saturday against the All Abilities team,
- 39:55Speaker 1: which is my favorite game of the year, and we
- 39:57Speaker 1: didn't have enough players because three of my girls umpiring
- 40:00Speaker 1: at the same time. So I pulled on the goalkeeper
- 40:03Speaker 1: bib And it's safe to say I don't think I'll
- 40:07Speaker 1: be making a comeback. They devastates such a fun time.
- 40:11Speaker 2: It's a little buddy unfair though, isn't it. This is
- 40:14Speaker 2: the team we're fielding against, the All Abilities team. The
- 40:17Speaker 2: former captain of the Australian Diamonds will be pulling on
- 40:20Speaker 2: a bib for us.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Well, this is the problem.
- 40:22Speaker 3: If the goat can't make you come back, there's sure
- 40:24Speaker 3: a shit no chance anyone else can.
- 40:26Speaker 4: So thank you for ruining my dream as well.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Catherine, but I got to say. You know,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I said, I stood on the on the court on
- 40:34Speaker 1: Saturday and it was so much fun. It was a
- 40:37Speaker 1: bit of rain around. I was playing with the girls
- 40:40Speaker 1: that I normally coach, and you know, when you play
- 40:43Speaker 1: with the all abilities players, there's such joy, right, and
- 40:47Speaker 1: it just did such a great job of reminding me
- 40:49Speaker 1: why I love our sport, because you can have the
- 40:52Speaker 1: former captain of the Diamonds playing on the same court
- 40:55Speaker 1: as a goal shooter who is playing for the All
- 40:58Speaker 1: abilities team, and you both have an equal amount of fun.
- 41:01Speaker 1: And you know, there were high fives all around, and
- 41:04Speaker 1: I loved it. I had such time and I walked
- 41:06Speaker 1: up and I was just like, you know what, this
- 41:08Speaker 1: is why I love my sport because it provides opportunities
- 41:11Speaker 1: for all of us to play. And you get on
- 41:13Speaker 1: the netball court and you're all just loving the same thing.
- 41:16Speaker 1: So unfortunately, my netball comeback is short lived. The girls
- 41:20Speaker 1: who I coach looked at me when yet's best, you
- 41:22Speaker 1: don't play anymore. But I had fun and it was
- 41:26Speaker 1: good after that.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Well, I don't want you to park it forever, though,
- 41:28Speaker 2: because I still have a dream that one day the
- 41:30Speaker 2: three of us will find some other people and we
- 41:33Speaker 2: will form a team. What position did Gordy pan?
- 41:36Speaker 3: We need to do a master's but we have to
- 41:39Speaker 3: find out when there's a good one that's in like
- 41:40Speaker 3: cans or somewhere.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Nice, And we need to have a doctor and a physio.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I'm playing it out.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Well, marian McCormick, she can come back and play because
- 41:50Speaker 3: she's a physio. Yeah, this is how we need to
- 41:53Speaker 3: work at Yeah, good thinking. Mardie was a defender.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Marianne played in a in a celebrity match that we
- 42:01Speaker 1: put on years ago when I was commentating with Channel ten,
- 42:04Speaker 1: and in that match she did her knee, So she
- 42:06Speaker 1: she might need to come along and just be on
- 42:08Speaker 1: the sidelines and treat people.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Now, A question about you playing on the weekend. Was
- 42:13Speaker 3: there a moment that the competitive lizzellas came out?
- 42:18Speaker 4: Did she didn't take out anyone?
- 42:24Speaker 1: No, I don't think that was the appropriate forum to
- 42:27Speaker 1: do that.
- 42:27Speaker 4: Okay, Well sometimes.
- 42:30Speaker 1: No, but one day I wouldn't mind having a run
- 42:34Speaker 1: around it, just in the local A grade comp. Hill King,
- 42:37Speaker 1: it's probably going to beat the seagret.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I'm just going to put yourself straight into a grade,
- 42:41Speaker 2: are you boss? Anyway, Yeah, A slotted a goal in
- 42:46Speaker 2: the three quarter time?
- 42:48Speaker 4: I wait, wait what Ali Broadband? Yeah yeah, slotted a goal.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, so girlfriend can't shoot for Well, she was right.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Under the post, and I will say she's got some
- 42:58Speaker 2: decent heights, so it wasn't a terribly long way for that.
- 43:01Speaker 2: But it's one of these one of the things that
- 43:02Speaker 2: they have during the game. This was at three quarter time,
- 43:05Speaker 2: and it was someone had five shots to get a
- 43:08Speaker 2: goal in and and she had the option of asking
- 43:13Speaker 2: Ali to do it. So she took four very close
- 43:15Speaker 2: on a couple of occasions and then handed it to
- 43:17Speaker 2: Ali and then ended up with a with a voucher
- 43:19Speaker 2: for ticketech. I think so. But yeah, Ali Broadman came
- 43:22Speaker 2: in on the last one. Okay, So I want to
- 43:31Speaker 2: just quickly talk about the Well we've really talked about
- 43:34Speaker 2: the valor dribler's tip in comp but I do want
- 43:36Speaker 2: to just tell you something. Vala has been very supportive
- 43:39Speaker 2: of us, particularly in getting this up, and they do
- 43:41Speaker 2: have a new program, new loyalty program. Get around this
- 43:44Speaker 2: Vala Apex Rewards. It's about rewarding supporters who live and
- 43:47Speaker 2: breathe sport. I think exclusive discounts, early access to merch drops,
- 43:51Speaker 2: and some very cool surprises down the line. Remember that
- 43:54Speaker 2: Valor gave us the signed Thunderbirds stress at the beginning
- 43:57Speaker 2: of thin So if you wear Vala, please back Valor.
- 44:00Speaker 2: I just you love what they do. Make sure you
- 44:01Speaker 2: check it out at valasport dot com dot au and
- 44:03Speaker 2: join the Apex crew. Thanks Vala. Okay, and having bitched
- 44:10Speaker 2: and moaned quite a bit over the last over this
- 44:12Speaker 2: whole year really about not having enough wind beneath our
- 44:15Speaker 2: Wings nominations, happy to report that we do have. We
- 44:18Speaker 2: we have a backlog.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Oh yeah, people just need to calm down, all.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Right, No, no, no, it's coming down. We want these,
- 44:26Speaker 2: we want.
- 44:27Speaker 1: We want to check your message.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Yes it's true.
- 44:31Speaker 4: How about I don't leave it till the last minute.
- 44:34Speaker 2: So Kath tell us about our wind beneath our Wings nominations.
- 44:38Speaker 3: This week, play it because it gets all the stars,
- 44:40Speaker 3: all the ticks.
- 44:41Speaker 4: It's a voice message. Are we ready? Yeah?
- 44:44Speaker 5: Hi, ladies and dribblers over here in the West. If
- 44:46Speaker 5: Network had royalty, we'd know he'd be sitting on the
- 44:48Speaker 5: throne and she'd be wearing a natty bib instead of
- 44:50Speaker 5: a crown. Let me tell you about our Court Coeen.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Jeanine Friday home's in Network Clubs nomination for Wing Beneath
- 44:56Speaker 5: our Wings on Saturday. Jeanine notes up for fifty games
- 44:59Speaker 5: yep for and somehow not a single season off since.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Nineteen ninety four.
- 45:03Speaker 5: And while most of us need a holiday after four quarters,
- 45:05Speaker 5: Nine's just out on court, casually building a legacy like
- 45:08Speaker 5: it's still nean of the nineties. I should also mention
- 45:11Speaker 5: she has three beautiful girls, and we're still trying to
- 45:13Speaker 5: figure out when she had time to have them.
- 45:15Speaker 1: She gave birth at halftime or cloned herself.
- 45:18Speaker 5: Either way, the mystery remains, and Nine isn't giving up
- 45:20Speaker 5: her secret. But our Court Queen isn't just a freakishly
- 45:23Speaker 5: consistent athlete. She's a glue that holds teams together, a
- 45:25Speaker 5: club captain, a weapon on the court, and a saint offert.
- 45:28Speaker 5: She's coach, mentor cheered and led always with a signature
- 45:31Speaker 5: positivity and a killer smile forever thirty years, She's bled
- 45:35Speaker 5: red and blue and lift our club motto, be the
- 45:37Speaker 5: best you can be. Nine brings it game in, game out.
- 45:40Speaker 5: She's wracked up a pool room full of playing and
- 45:42Speaker 5: coaching awards, not that she'd ever tell you, and somehow
- 45:45Speaker 5: makes us all feel like we're the special ones. So Dribblers,
- 45:48Speaker 5: this Saturday, Queen nine is a main event. She's not
- 45:51Speaker 5: just a player to us. She's a powerhouse, a role model,
- 45:54Speaker 5: and a legend. So let's make it official and give
- 45:56Speaker 5: Nan the crown, the flowers and the fuss. She's earned
- 45:59Speaker 5: four hundred and fiftew times over and for the record,
- 46:02Speaker 5: four fifty games later, she's still got it and she
- 46:04Speaker 5: has it on a roll to match. He just congratulations
- 46:07Speaker 5: with his milestone and the Queen He's to four fifty more.
- 46:10Speaker 5: What a legend.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Our club is so proud.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Thank you, Tracy. What a fantastic nomination. I do know
- 46:16Speaker 2: that someone I can't remember who it was, Maybe it
- 46:18Speaker 2: was Tracy, but someone said they used the butt clenching
- 46:20Speaker 2: technique to get through their voice. Note in making a
- 46:23Speaker 2: win beneath our Wings nomination so it's sweeping the nation.
- 46:27Speaker 2: We're gonna have these rock hard glutes soon. But Jeanine Friday, Man,
- 46:31Speaker 2: you sound like a very worthy recipient. You sound like
- 46:35Speaker 2: you are absolutely the wind beneath our wings over there
- 46:38Speaker 2: in Hammersley, Western Australia, and we salute you and look
- 46:42Speaker 2: forward to seeing you sporting a no dribble scrunching.
- 46:46Speaker 3: After four hundred and fifty games. I feel like we
- 46:48Speaker 3: should send us some anti in flames as well. That
- 46:51Speaker 3: would be the nahbly thing to do, wouldn't it.
- 46:53Speaker 2: If you have short hair ladies. Bob Jarvis always wears
- 46:56Speaker 2: her scrunchy pin to her shirt when she to the
- 47:00Speaker 2: Swifts games, which I love. She wasn't in a no
- 47:03Speaker 2: dribble shirt. She was in a Swift shirt yesterday, but
- 47:05Speaker 2: she did have her her no dribble scrunchy pinned close
- 47:09Speaker 2: to her heart, which I think is very heartwarming.
- 47:11Speaker 4: Oh, just quickly before we go Patrick to Patrick got
- 47:13Speaker 4: to run.
- 47:15Speaker 2: One run.
- 47:16Speaker 4: It was enough.
- 47:17Speaker 2: He makes the most of his opportunities. He Latania Wilson's
- 47:20Speaker 2: his opportunities, doesn't He says, I'm going to I'm going
- 47:23Speaker 2: to go hard on this one. But I think that
- 47:25Speaker 2: is very close to the end of our time together.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Today it's a mandarin season everyone. That's one of the
- 47:31Speaker 2: happiest times of the year too. Don't you love mandarins?
- 47:34Speaker 2: But it is clearly not as much as you love them,
- 47:36Speaker 2: absolutely love it.
- 47:37Speaker 1: We were for a walk yesterday and picked some mandarins
- 47:40Speaker 1: from our mandarin treat. It's great mandarins and peacans.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Very nice.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Do you have to toast the peacns? How do you
- 47:46Speaker 2: I've never had a raw peak game.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Well, they're just beautiful. You pick them up off the
- 47:50Speaker 1: ground and you can crack them and eat them. But
- 47:53Speaker 1: I do. I make pecan pie with them and put
- 47:55Speaker 1: them in all sorts of things. They're beautiful.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Now everyone can get onto that and post on down
- 47:58Speaker 3: to me and I'll post back some to buy chocolate.
