Speaker 3: We got a lot to get to on the show today,
1:28
Speaker 3: Wednesday edition of the Show. When to start with a
1:30
Speaker 3: couple news items. One of this that came out yesterday
1:33
Speaker 3: evening out of d C. More Capito is going to
1:36
Speaker 3: be the new US attorney for southern West Virginia and
1:39
Speaker 3: state Senator Mike Stewart. The service out of here in
1:42
Speaker 3: Kinawa County has been confirmed as general counsel for the
1:45
Speaker 3: US Department of Health and Human Services. Also throw it
1:48
Speaker 3: in there, Jefferson County Prowse Secutor Matt Harvey is going
1:50
Speaker 3: to be the new US attorney for the Northern District.
1:52
Speaker 3: We'll get into all that a little bit later on,
1:54
Speaker 3: but it does mean that the Senate seat held by
1:56
Speaker 3: Mike Stewart District seven will be available, and we'll have
1:59
Speaker 3: more as I said on that coming up a little
2:01
Speaker 3: bit later on. Also on today's show, Chris Miller is
2:03
Speaker 3: going to join this former gubernatorial candidate and auto dealer
2:06
Speaker 3: here in West Virginia.
2:07
Speaker 6: He's going to join us.
2:08
Speaker 3: Actually it's got places outside West Virginia's he's going to
2:10
Speaker 3: join us. We'll talk a little politics, but he's actually
2:13
Speaker 3: here to talk about an event that is going to
2:15
Speaker 3: be happening in one of his dealerships, Dutch Miller Subaru,
2:19
Speaker 3: and that's going to be happening next week. It has
2:21
Speaker 3: to do with animals. So if you know it's got
2:23
Speaker 3: to do with animals, I'm in So we'll talk to
2:24
Speaker 3: him about that. Rick Cavan from Charleston Urban Works will
2:27
Speaker 3: be stopping by as they are getting ready for October
2:30
Speaker 3: West this Saturday over on the West Side. We'll get
2:32
Speaker 3: into that. Also, another news item, this twelve car pile
2:36
Speaker 3: up on the Turnpike near the Ox near the Mossy
2:40
Speaker 3: exit last night, and this time they got it right
2:43
Speaker 3: as far as not leaving people stranded out there, using
2:45
Speaker 3: the detours, the trouble gates, so on and so forth.
2:48

3:05
Speaker 3: Fall is here.
3:07
Speaker 6: Zach Harold joins us talk about a good morning.
3:10
Speaker 4: Welcome to the morning, Dave, how are you?
3:12
Speaker 6: How's that for an intro?
3:13
Speaker 5: Think?
3:13
Speaker 6: I got enough staff thrown in there?
3:14
Speaker 4: Pretty good.
3:15
Speaker 6: There's a lot going on, man, it's a busy weekend.
3:17
Speaker 6: It's a busy weekend.
3:18
Speaker 3: Now, you got so many different things going on, But
3:20
Speaker 3: I want to talk about Festive Fall because you're the
3:22
Speaker 3: new director of Festivall Now we're talking Festive Fall, which
3:26
Speaker 3: is a part of festival. That's right, all right, Burning
3:29
Speaker 3: on the job, on the Joel Trial by Fire as
3:32
Speaker 3: they save my friend, all right. So what you got
3:34
Speaker 3: going on?
3:35
Speaker 7: Well, tonight is the official kickoff to Festivefall. We had
3:38
Speaker 7: a pre festival eve drum circle last night, but tonight
3:42
Speaker 7: is the big kickoff with three things which I know
3:44
Speaker 7: you've appeared on in the past, Jeff Shirley's Speaker series.
3:48
Speaker 7: That's gonna be seven pm. Tonight at the Capitol Market.
3:52
Speaker 7: People don't know. Jeff always picks such a good lineup
3:56
Speaker 7: of folks. Bob Thompson, the Mountain Stage piano player, the
4:00
Speaker 7: Clay Centers astrophysicist Shannon Silverman, and then the community organizer
4:05
Speaker 7: Mavery Davis. They're going to talk about their lives in
4:08
Speaker 7: the framework that Jeff created where they talk about their
4:11
Speaker 7: first however they interpret that yea, their favorite and their future.
4:15
Speaker 3: And that's a great event, by the way. I mean,
4:18
Speaker 3: it really really is. They've been doing it for a
4:20
Speaker 3: number of years. And it is interesting because Jeff doesn't
4:26
Speaker 3: give you guidance as to what the first is. It
4:28
Speaker 3: could be like what your first job. It could be
4:31
Speaker 3: your first anything, and then your favorite and again related
4:35
Speaker 3: to anything that you want it to be, and then
4:37
Speaker 3: your future and everybody, the three people all interpret that differently,
4:41
Speaker 3: and Jeff doesn't give you any guidance, which is okay,
4:44
Speaker 3: it's okay.
4:45
Speaker 7: It makes it more special in some ways. Like the
4:49
Speaker 7: example Jeff always gives is when he had Kenny Bass
4:52
Speaker 7: on the show.
4:53
Speaker 4: Kenny talked about.
4:54
Speaker 7: Christmas his first, his favorite, and you know, it's so
4:59
Speaker 7: interesting to it's a way to get into the lives
5:03
Speaker 7: of people that we know around town. And that's one
5:06
Speaker 7: of our few ticketed events. Most of the stuff we
5:08
Speaker 7: do this weekend is free. But if you want to
5:10
Speaker 7: get tickets for three things tonight at seven pm, you
5:13
Speaker 7: can go to Festival Charleston.
5:15
Speaker 4: That's Festival two l's Charleston dot com.
5:18
Speaker 6: All right, and so that's just a kickoff.
5:20
Speaker 4: That's the kickoff, all right. Well, we're gonna keep rolling
5:22
Speaker 4: right along.
5:23
Speaker 7: Tomorrow at seven thirty, we have an evening with the
5:25
Speaker 7: West Virginia Dance Company that's the state's only professional dance company,
5:30
Speaker 7: like amazing modern choreography. Also that's going to be at
5:35
Speaker 7: the Culture Center, also a ticketed event. You can get
5:37
Speaker 7: tickets online at our website. That they're going to be
5:40
Speaker 7: featuring a piece composed by a West Virginia native, doctor
5:45
Speaker 7: Richard Grimes. Rolling into Friday, we have Magnolia Boulevard, which
5:51
Speaker 7: is like a blues rock band, Lake Street drive to
5:53
Speaker 7: dashy Trucks, Bondi rate type stuff. They're going to be
5:56
Speaker 7: down at Slack Plaza. It's going to be a great show.
6:00
Speaker 7: Starts at seven point thirty. And that one was free,
6:02
Speaker 7: family friendly. At the same time. Well, at six at
6:07
Speaker 7: Taylor Books, the State.
6:09
Speaker 4: Poet Laurie at Mark Harshman.
6:10
Speaker 7: It's going to be hosting an evening with the Poets
6:13
Speaker 7: featuring Jesse Graves and some young poets from the Poetry
6:18
Speaker 7: Out Loud organization. Just a jam packed. But then Saturday
6:24
Speaker 7: is when it really kicks into high gear with the
6:26
Speaker 7: Harvest Art Fair over at the Capital Market. People are
6:31
Speaker 7: probably most familiar with the Capitol Street Art Fair that
6:34
Speaker 7: happens during the summer during Festival. This is kind of
6:37
Speaker 7: a miniature version of that. But we've got thirty artisans
6:41
Speaker 7: over there who are cann be selling their stuff. We've
6:43
Speaker 7: got live music every hour on the hour, some great
6:46
Speaker 7: bands lined up for that one. It's a good place
6:49
Speaker 7: to get some early holiday shof and taking care of that.
6:52
Speaker 7: That's running from ten to six on Saturday at the
6:56
Speaker 7: Capitol Market. We're also going to have walking tours and
7:01
Speaker 7: bike tours of downtown. The walking tour starts at ten
7:05
Speaker 7: thirty they're at the Leaf Street Triangle, and the bike
7:07
Speaker 7: tour starts at eleven. Those are so cool because you know,
7:11
Speaker 7: I've worked downtown my entire career, but the things you
7:14
Speaker 7: walk past every day you kind of take for granted,
7:17
Speaker 7: and getting somebody like Naomi Base who's going to lead
7:20
Speaker 7: the walking tour, and then Sam Niguard who's leading the
7:22
Speaker 7: bike tour. The things that they point out to you
7:25
Speaker 7: that you just take for granted in your own hometown,
7:27
Speaker 7: it's it's it's so illuminating. Later that evening, six pm,
7:33
Speaker 7: we've got a Shakespeare remix at Folklore Music Extrange, really
7:37
Speaker 7: cool music store there on the corner of what was
7:39
Speaker 7: that Summers and Lee but the Rustic Mechanicals A Shakespeare
7:44
Speaker 7: troop from Clarksburger coming in to do a remon Yeah, yeah, exactly.
7:49
Speaker 7: He's doing Jason Well, he's doing a remix of Macbeth
7:53
Speaker 7: called the Macbeth's It's a two person show. And then
7:56
Speaker 7: they're going to do Shakespeare Oke.
7:58
Speaker 6: So Shakespeare, you got that Shakespeare OKIEK.
8:03
Speaker 7: Saw you English majors come out, come out for that one.
8:07
Speaker 7: And then we got I'm looking forward to this City
8:09
Speaker 7: Center Dead at slackl I'm looking forward to all this,
8:13
Speaker 7: but City Center Dead at Slack Plaza. That's John Ingram,
8:16
Speaker 7: you know, local musician, bass player for Mountain Stage. He's
8:19
Speaker 7: got his band Dead Center. They're going to start playing
8:21
Speaker 7: at Slack Plaza at six pm until ten pm A
8:25
Speaker 7: Grateful Dead tribute show.
8:27
Speaker 5: I heard.
8:27
Speaker 3: I was listening to John yesterday on Hotline with a
8:31
Speaker 3: Coop and a Weekly when I was driving home.
8:33
Speaker 4: Yeah. I'll tell you so.
8:35
Speaker 7: Back when I first started this job, and you know,
8:38
Speaker 7: I started getting my feet under me and seeing the schedule,
8:40
Speaker 7: I saw they had a Grateful Dead tribute show playing.
8:43
Speaker 7: I was like, hey, John, you guys need a Manlin
8:46
Speaker 7: player for a friend of the Devil.
8:47
Speaker 4: And I was joking. He texted me a couple of
8:50
Speaker 4: days ago and he was like, you ready to go?
8:53
Speaker 7: And I was like, oh, shoot, I need to practice.
8:57
Speaker 4: So I am both looking forward to in.
9:00
Speaker 6: Okay at the same time. At the same time.
9:02
Speaker 3: Can We're talking with Zach Carrold from Festive Fall, but
9:05
Speaker 3: Dave Island showing five any Lie broad to part by
9:07
Speaker 3: your hometown baseball team, The Charles so Dirty Bird, Selango
9:09
Speaker 3: law Light The Night We're turning to go Mark Ballpark
9:11
Speaker 3: November twenty first through January. First, get your tickets in
9:14
Speaker 3: advance by visiting dB Lightthanight dot com.
9:16
Speaker 6: All right, continue on.
9:18
Speaker 5: All right?
9:18
Speaker 7: Yeah, well, and then Sunday, final day of festifall the
9:22
Speaker 7: Harvest Art Fair is back again from twelve to five
9:25
Speaker 7: with you know those great artisans, local artisans selling their stuff,
9:30
Speaker 7: more live music every hour on the hour. That's again
9:35
Speaker 7: from twelve to five at the Capital Market. And then
9:37
Speaker 7: the Carriage Trail Leafwalk at the Sunrise Carriage Trail there
9:41
Speaker 7: across from downtown. That runs from one to four pm.
9:45
Speaker 7: And then what's so cool about that is, you know,
9:48
Speaker 7: anybody familiar with the Carriage Trail, it's just that nice
9:51
Speaker 7: winding walk up the side of the hill there. We're
9:54
Speaker 7: gonna have different live performances scattered around every turn of that.
10:00
Speaker 7: As you walk along, you're kind of encountering different musicians,
10:04
Speaker 7: spoken word stuff, theater, dance. It's going to be really special.
10:08
Speaker 7: At the bottom of the trail, we're going to have
10:10
Speaker 7: this is brand new Force the Groundworks stage down there,
10:14
Speaker 7: sponsored sponsored by Groundworks. We're gonna have Matthew Jack for
10:17
Speaker 7: It's Hot Jazz band which is like a Dixieland jazz
10:19
Speaker 7: type thing, and Minor Swing which is a Django Reinhardt
10:25
Speaker 7: style jazz band there at the bottom of the Carria Trail.
10:28
Speaker 7: At the top, Jeff Pearson of Charleston's Public Office of
10:32
Speaker 7: Public art is going to be building a sculpture out
10:35
Speaker 7: of donated stuffed animals.
10:37
Speaker 6: Uh.
10:39
Speaker 7: I'm interested to see how that comes comes through. He's
10:42
Speaker 7: got an incredible he's We've hit every thrift store between
10:45
Speaker 7: you know here and here in Dunbar trying to get
10:49
Speaker 7: stuffed animals for this. And he texted me last night
10:51
Speaker 7: he's like ready, and he sent me this picture of
10:53
Speaker 7: a giant pile of stuffed animals in his office. It's
10:59
Speaker 7: gonna be cool, Jeff. Everything Jeff does is cool, but
11:02
Speaker 7: I'm having a hard time picturing it. But if you
11:04
Speaker 7: want to contribute stuffed animals to the sculpture, you can
11:08
Speaker 7: bring him with you to the carriage trail on Sunday
11:11
Speaker 7: from one to four. Don't expect to get him back.
11:13
Speaker 3: I think, Okay, once they're sculpted, they can't be unsculpted.
11:17
Speaker 4: I guess I've heard there will be a nail gun involved.
11:21
Speaker 6: Lord, so you're gonna get the pita for stuffed animals
11:26
Speaker 6: involved in this.
11:27
Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know. It's going to be cool.
11:29
Speaker 4: It's going to be cool, but I'm having a hard
11:32
Speaker 4: time picturing it. But Jeff has a vision. I trust
11:36
Speaker 4: his visions.
11:36
Speaker 6: Artistic types always have a vision.
11:38
Speaker 7: And what's cool is we're also going to have and
11:41
Speaker 7: if people want to come to the Carristral Leafwalk, if
11:44
Speaker 7: you know anything about that area, that little parking lot
11:47
Speaker 7: there at the bottom is going to fill up fast.
11:48
Speaker 7: And the best thing to do is probably to try
11:50
Speaker 7: to find parking at the top where there's a little
11:53
Speaker 7: bit more space, or find place to park downtown. There's
11:56
Speaker 7: a city garage right across from the South Side Bridge.
11:59
Speaker 7: You could park there and just make it. It's an easy, little.
12:01
Speaker 6: Streetsy little Yeah, it's just another fard off.
12:03
Speaker 3: So and where's the best place to get We've done
12:07
Speaker 3: a lot of information at the people.
12:08
Speaker 6: Where's the best place?
12:10
Speaker 7: The best place to find all this information is festival
12:13
Speaker 7: Charleston dot com. First of all, two l's Charleston dot
12:16
Speaker 7: com or Facebook. We have everything on our Facebook page.
12:19
Speaker 7: We have all the events are listed as events on Facebook,
12:22
Speaker 7: so you can see all the information and see which
12:26
Speaker 7: of your friends are going if you want a carpool.
12:28
Speaker 6: All right, there you go.
12:29
Speaker 3: All right, give me a final thirty seconds here on
12:33
Speaker 3: just the selling of festival. Why just give me a
12:36
Speaker 3: final little summary and why people should take this in.
12:40
Speaker 7: Sure, The tagline of our organization is a city becomes
12:43
Speaker 7: a work of art, But the tagline for Festifall is
12:46
Speaker 7: and I think it encapsulates it so well.
12:47
Speaker 4: A season becomes a work of art.
12:49
Speaker 7: West Virginia's beautiful all year round, but it really shows
12:53
Speaker 7: itself off in fall, and this is a way to
12:55
Speaker 7: celebrate that natural beauty while also celebrating the creativity of
12:58
Speaker 7: the people who live here. And so much creativity, whether
13:02
Speaker 7: we're talking about visual art, dance, music. We're so blessed
13:07
Speaker 7: with so many talented people, and Festivefall is a way
13:10
Speaker 7: to show that off.
13:11
Speaker 3: All right, Zach Harold, I appreciate you being here, my friend,
13:13
Speaker 3: having me good luck with everything, because I'd like to
13:16
Speaker 3: if you go, if you've got one of those step
13:17
Speaker 3: counters on your wrist, I want to see what it's
13:19
Speaker 3: gonna look like come Sunday night Monday morning.
13:22
Speaker 4: I gotta get my fit bit out of the drill.
13:24
Speaker 6: Well, I call mine the fat bit. So that's that's
13:27
Speaker 6: what I got, Hey.
13:28
Speaker 4: Jack, I lives in a drawer.
13:30
Speaker 3: Well, I told I told the listeners this this a
13:32
Speaker 3: real quick story. Because nobody makes fun of Dave more
13:35
Speaker 3: than Dave makes fun of Day sure. Uh so, I'm
13:38
Speaker 3: a I'm a wristwatch guy. I got several and I
13:40
Speaker 3: have one that is supposed to operate, you know, just
13:45
Speaker 3: on your body. Enter mine died and I took it
13:49
Speaker 3: it did it did and I and this is a
13:51
Speaker 3: true story, I took it to my my buddy Scott
13:54
Speaker 3: uh down Logan. I still go to the hometown jewelry
13:57
Speaker 3: store down there. So I go to my buddy Scott,
13:59
Speaker 3: whom I went to high school with, owns a jewelry store.
14:01
Speaker 3: And he said, do you know how kinetic? That's word
14:05
Speaker 3: I was looking for. I'm wearing to watch today. He said,
14:08
Speaker 3: do you know how lethargic you have to be to
14:10
Speaker 3: kill a kinetic watch? I was like, shut up, Scott,
14:14
Speaker 3: shut up, take my up. Yeah, all right, I appreciate it. Zach,

Speaker 6: Lauren and Rick, how you doing, guys? Well, how are
17:19
Speaker 6: you doing?
17:20
Speaker 5: Sir?
17:21
Speaker 6: Did I call her the wrong name?
17:22
Speaker 8: No? No, because we try to coordinate when we're going
17:25
Speaker 8: to talk here.
17:26
Speaker 6: So here's the thing.
17:26
Speaker 3: I am terrible with names, and I've had Lauren on
17:29
Speaker 3: the show a couple of times, and I remembered her
17:31
Speaker 3: last name but not her.
17:32
Speaker 8: First rate, which is actually really impressive.
17:34
Speaker 13: And that's impressed.
17:35
Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't don't.
17:36
Speaker 3: I guess it's all the sports I watched or something.
17:38
Speaker 3: I remember last names.
17:39
Speaker 8: But you guess I'd be working started if you didn't
17:41
Speaker 8: remember my name.
17:42
Speaker 14: Yeah, because I'm here pretty and you and I.
17:44
Speaker 6: Go way way ten years, way back, ten ten to ten.
17:48
Speaker 6: It's been ten years now.
17:49
Speaker 13: So y'all met when you were like nine, Yeah, exactly.
17:53
Speaker 8: Yeah, Dave was David was twenty nine.
17:55
Speaker 9: I was nine.
17:56
Speaker 15: Yeah.
17:57
Speaker 3: We went through actually, uh, mister and I went through
18:00
Speaker 3: leadership West Virginia together. Had a lot of fun. But probably,
18:04
Speaker 3: and I'll say this if if listeners get an opportunity
18:08
Speaker 3: to do leaderships, the single best thing I ever did
18:11
Speaker 3: in my life. And I mean, it was amazing that
18:14
Speaker 3: Pam Ferris, who just recently I guess retired, just does
18:17
Speaker 3: a great job with that. And it was, without a doubt,
18:20
Speaker 3: the best thing career wise and personally I ever did
18:23
Speaker 3: in my life. Formative I would say, I mean, to
18:25
Speaker 3: be able to go around this state and be able
18:27
Speaker 3: to meet people.
18:29
Speaker 6: I did not win. How many people in our class?
18:32
Speaker 3: That was like fifty five people in our class. I
18:35
Speaker 3: only knew one person going in. Now, others I knew
18:39
Speaker 3: their names because Mayor Goodwin was in our class and
18:41
Speaker 3: Jim Hoyer. I knew their names, but I didn't know them.
18:46
Speaker 3: There's one guy that I went to high school with
18:48
Speaker 3: that was in the class, and he and I didn't
18:50
Speaker 3: know each other. No, it's a Lawrence Bell, and he
18:55
Speaker 3: and I went to high school together and didn't know
18:57
Speaker 3: each other. Proved, you know, disproving the theory that everybody
19:00
Speaker 3: and Logan knows.
19:00
Speaker 6: Everybody because he was a year or so.
19:02
Speaker 3: Behind, right, I didn't know him in high school. We
19:04
Speaker 3: met at Leadership West. That's so cool if you get
19:07
Speaker 3: an opportunity to do that, all right. So I was
19:09
Speaker 3: talking earlier to Zach Carroll about to festival which is
19:12
Speaker 3: going on. And I say this almost every week in
19:14
Speaker 3: the show, Guys, if you can't find something to do
19:16
Speaker 3: with Charleston, it really the Canal Valley, right, that's on you.
19:21
Speaker 6: That's gonna be going on. It kicks off the night,
19:22
Speaker 6: runs to Sunday.
19:23
Speaker 3: But we got a little party with a couple thousand
19:25
Speaker 3: of our closest friends, so on the West side this weekend, talking.
19:28
Speaker 8: About right in October West.
19:29
Speaker 14: I'm actually Lauren is our event coordinator now, okay, so
19:32
Speaker 14: I want to let her feel every one and on
19:34
Speaker 14: all the details. I'll talk more about our organization and
19:36
Speaker 14: why it's important to come, but I definitely want to
19:37
Speaker 14: let Laren you're up.
19:38
Speaker 13: Yeah, well so, thank you. So October West on Saturday,
19:44
Speaker 13: one of, if not the largest and only october Fest
19:46
Speaker 13: celebration in the state. We have over one hundred craft
19:50
Speaker 13: beer selections that you can sample throughout the day, some
19:55
Speaker 13: really good food vendors lined up, some great entertainment. We
19:58
Speaker 13: have DJJ there all day. Who you know him, you
20:02
Speaker 13: love him. If you don't know him, you will love him.
20:04
Speaker 3: It's gonna say if you don't love him, that goes
20:07
Speaker 3: in a different direction. You don't love him, there's something
20:08
Speaker 3: wrong with you because.
20:09
Speaker 13: He's Yeah, he's great. We've got Damn Near and hot
20:14
Speaker 13: Jazz on the main stage. Those will both just be fantastic,
20:18
Speaker 13: good energies for the stage. As you're talking with friends,
20:22
Speaker 13: the weather is looking like a perfect fall day.
20:24
Speaker 3: Here I said, more than what you would think of
20:27
Speaker 3: with fall. But still it's not eighty five or nights
20:30
Speaker 3: seventies high.
20:31
Speaker 13: Yeah, no rain, knock on wood, It's gonna be great. Yeah.
20:34
Speaker 13: So you can get a ticket, you get in, you
20:38
Speaker 13: get a cup for your beer, and then you can
20:40
Speaker 13: walk around sample as much as you want, as many
20:43
Speaker 13: different types as you want. I've said a million times
20:45
Speaker 13: at this point, we've got like twenty different pumpkin ales
20:48
Speaker 13: and they all are different, but they all have a
20:51
Speaker 13: good fall energy to them. We've got our October West
20:54
Speaker 13: Games going on over there in front of the Charlie
20:58
Speaker 13: Hamilton Jupiter the Mural there, and we've got Stein holding
21:08
Speaker 13: keg rolling.
21:09
Speaker 6: I mean, that's something.
21:10
Speaker 13: It'll be a blast.
21:12
Speaker 3: That's the thing I remember from last year when I
21:14
Speaker 3: was there, one of the things that really stuck at
21:16
Speaker 3: It's all great, but I remember going over and we
21:18
Speaker 3: watched the keg rolling in the different competitions and stuff
21:21
Speaker 3: like that.
21:22
Speaker 6: It was awesome.
21:23
Speaker 14: It's it's always surprising the number of people who end
21:25
Speaker 14: up signing up for those.
21:26
Speaker 8: I mean, it's it's a party in itself.
21:28
Speaker 13: Oh yeah, it's an absolute, absolute hood of a time.
21:30
Speaker 13: I mean, we've got people dressed up in costumes. It's
21:35
Speaker 13: just an absolute blast.
21:36
Speaker 6: Yeah, it is, it is. We had a texture.
21:38
Speaker 3: Somebody asked about other beverages that they don't drink alcohol.
21:41
Speaker 6: There's plenty of other stuff.
21:41
Speaker 8: It there's some non alcoholic beers I believe that are
21:45
Speaker 8: on the list.
21:46
Speaker 6: Somebody should have.
21:47
Speaker 14: Somebody will have water we'll have We'll have there's these
21:50
Speaker 14: huge tubs of water that'll be throughout the entire just
21:52
Speaker 14: like a foam.
21:53
Speaker 6: We have like every so.
21:54
Speaker 8: Many feet, we have a tub of water.
21:55
Speaker 4: You can grab it up for food.
21:56
Speaker 13: Yeah, and it's three And we also do if you're
21:59
Speaker 13: either not a your drinker or a designated driver, have
22:02
Speaker 13: a designated driver ticket where you can show up and
22:05
Speaker 13: get in for free, and we'll give you a risk
22:06
Speaker 13: band and you can still enjoy all of the festivities
22:09
Speaker 13: even if you're not a big beer guy.
22:10
Speaker 6: And the food, the food vendors.
22:12
Speaker 13: Oh yeah, you can enjoy the food vendors. Yeah, we've
22:14
Speaker 13: got quite a few good lined up, good ones lined up,
22:18
Speaker 13: a good time.
22:19
Speaker 14: Yeah, of course you're the ticket price, the fifty five
22:21
Speaker 14: for VIP, forty five for general emission. Of course, you
22:24
Speaker 14: get the extra hour for VIP starting at three o'clock.
22:26
Speaker 14: General emission starts at four o'clock. You'll have a we
22:29
Speaker 14: have a VIP beer tent, excuse me, a table for
22:32
Speaker 14: circtly for the VIP ticket holders. But that ticket price
22:37
Speaker 14: does not include the food vendors. Make sure you bring
22:39
Speaker 14: your debit card or your cash because the food vendors
22:41
Speaker 14: we have that they're taking payment separately.
22:44
Speaker 6: So yeah, right, it's and it's just always a good time. Roughly.
22:48
Speaker 6: I mean I said thousands of people, but I mean people.
22:50
Speaker 6: You know, it's not.
22:51
Speaker 3: A it's not like a one time everything. Some people
22:54
Speaker 3: will come in, drift in for twenty minutes and leave,
22:56
Speaker 3: some people stay the entire time. Roughly how many people
22:58
Speaker 3: to Gentiliz you roughly?
23:00
Speaker 14: Year to year? It has fluctuated. I think the hot
23:03
Speaker 14: the the highest attendance we ever had. I don't remember
23:06
Speaker 14: the year, but it was like twenty two hundred people,
23:09
Speaker 14: and then the lowest we had was during a football game,
23:11
Speaker 14: which is why we moved this event this year because
23:13
Speaker 14: it was during a w football game and the lowest
23:15
Speaker 14: I believe was like eleven hundred. So it just it
23:18
Speaker 14: just depends on what's going on that.
23:19
Speaker 3: Particularly's and that's incredible and when you think about, you know,
23:23
Speaker 3: bringing in all those people, there's a reason why it's
23:26
Speaker 3: it's on that part of town because the whole idea
23:28
Speaker 3: is too and that's why it's in the name October
23:30
Speaker 3: West to try to get people there to see all
23:32
Speaker 3: the things that are going on over there. And Rick,
23:33
Speaker 3: I'll let you talk about that.
23:35
Speaker 6: A little bit.
23:36
Speaker 14: Yeah, so I mean our organization, of course, Dave, I've
23:38
Speaker 14: been on to talk about the evolution of our organization
23:41
Speaker 14: over time several times. But Charleston Urban Works, our organization
23:45
Speaker 14: formerly known as Charleston Main Streets, our mission excuse me,
23:49
Speaker 14: our mission is is solely focused on the urban neighborhood
23:52
Speaker 14: business districts here in the capital city, certain ones, and
23:56
Speaker 14: you know, we're a unique organization in that way. The
23:58
Speaker 14: services we offer in our object is within our mission
24:01
Speaker 14: are very unique. We really focus on business improvement and
24:04
Speaker 14: advancement in small business of course, public space enhancement projects,
24:09
Speaker 14: events and marketing in business marketing, and then increasing engagement
24:13
Speaker 14: across the entire community. And that really just means of
24:17
Speaker 14: getting people more engaged, more involved with what we do,
24:19
Speaker 14: and then you know, vice versa. We have been doing
24:23
Speaker 14: this work collectively since two thousand and two. We started
24:25
Speaker 14: out on the East End. A few years later we
24:28
Speaker 14: started out on the West side. Years after that we
24:30
Speaker 14: merged to create Charleston Main Streets. Actually, the year I
24:32
Speaker 14: met you, we were talking about ten years ago, was
24:34
Speaker 14: the year we did that. And then just over the
24:36
Speaker 14: last year and a half we rebranded to Charleston Urban Works,
24:39
Speaker 14: and we actually just expanded our work into Kanall City.
24:43
Speaker 14: Through a really incredible partnership and support through the City
24:46
Speaker 14: of Charleston, we were able to expand our work into
24:48
Speaker 14: kanas City and we're building that foundation of the work
24:50
Speaker 14: we've been doing for several years on the East End
24:52
Speaker 14: and West side, we're now building that foundation in Kanall City.
24:54
Speaker 3: What kind of plan I mean, I know it's still earlier,
24:56
Speaker 3: you just building the foundation now and you talk about
24:58
Speaker 3: the partnership with the city, but what kind of things
25:01
Speaker 3: could you see in KANNAUSO. Well, I mean it's it
25:03
Speaker 3: would be similar, I guess to the East and West,
25:06
Speaker 3: but they're geographically they're they're different.
25:09
Speaker 8: Very different.
25:09
Speaker 14: Yeah, And the approach we've always taken, we're taking the
25:12
Speaker 14: same approach over there that we have in our other
25:14
Speaker 14: districts over time, right what we're doing. As a matter
25:16
Speaker 14: of fact, we just had our first working group meeting
25:18
Speaker 14: over there, comprised of all small business owners in Kanall City.
25:22
Speaker 14: The entire groups comprised of business owners and we've been
25:26
Speaker 14: Shannon who's on our staff, she's our director over there.
25:29
Speaker 14: She's been working really hard to develop an enormous database
25:32
Speaker 14: with every single property and business and property owner and
25:35
Speaker 14: business owner over there collecting data. You know, this is
25:39
Speaker 14: the first time it's been this has been attempted over there,
25:41
Speaker 14: so there's a lot of data you got to collect
25:42
Speaker 14: before you could actually know what work needs to be done.
25:45
Speaker 14: And now we've started survey work over there like we've
25:47
Speaker 14: done on the West Side here recently, we're surveying the
25:49
Speaker 14: business owners to figure out what their needs are. So
25:52
Speaker 14: that's all in process. That's going to take some time.
25:54
Speaker 14: We've come a long way in the last almost six
25:56
Speaker 14: months and we know by the middle of November we'll
25:59
Speaker 14: be to release some project plans solely based on the
26:02
Speaker 14: needs of the end user of the business owners themselves,
26:05
Speaker 14: and so you'll see some really cool marketing initiatives coming
26:07
Speaker 14: out of that. You'll see some ideas for events. You'll
26:10
Speaker 14: see ideas for shop you know, to expand our shop
26:13
Speaker 14: local initiative, our our Passport card over there, stuff like that.
26:16
Speaker 14: Our FA Sage grant program. That's another really big point
26:19
Speaker 14: to make. Our Facade grant program is in part funded
26:23
Speaker 14: through events like this that we put on. We are
26:25
Speaker 14: able to provide funding really important funding. Too small business
26:28
Speaker 14: owners to help you know, new doors, new windows, brick pointing,
26:32
Speaker 14: new signage, public art on their building, you know, outdoor
26:36
Speaker 14: dining spaces, that kind of thing. We match funds. That's
26:39
Speaker 14: that private business owners put into their invest into their
26:42
Speaker 14: properties through through that Facade grant program. So that gives
26:45
Speaker 14: you an idea of the work that we do and
26:46
Speaker 14: why this work is so important and why coming to
26:48
Speaker 14: events like October West helps support and fund that.
26:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, we want to make sure that want people to
26:52
Speaker 3: come out and have a good time, whether it's here,
26:54
Speaker 3: we do foam in a dome earlier in the year too,
26:56
Speaker 3: But we want to know there's a reason for our
26:58
Speaker 3: rest and that's and that's and that's what that I mean,
26:59
Speaker 3: it's so you know, come out and have some drinks
27:02
Speaker 3: or not, or have some food and play the games whatever.
27:04
Speaker 3: But there's a reason why that you're doing all this
27:06
Speaker 3: and just to put the money back into Charleston.
27:08
Speaker 13: Yeah, And I mean when you're down there in the
27:10
Speaker 13: Elk City district over there on the west side, you
27:12
Speaker 13: can stand in a circle in the middle Washington Street
27:14
Speaker 13: and see a bunch of businesses that we've had a
27:16
Speaker 13: hand in helping promote or create the spaces that they have,
27:23
Speaker 13: and so that's something that I want to plug is
27:24
Speaker 13: a lot of the Elk City businesses are open Saturday
27:27
Speaker 13: before October West and so if you want to pop
27:31
Speaker 13: into Kinship Goods, you want to get a hot dog
27:33
Speaker 13: from Dancing Dog, you need to get your hair cut,
27:35
Speaker 13: you want to go over to the Wine Down, they're
27:37
Speaker 13: all open leading up to the event, and then some
27:39
Speaker 13: of them will be also open during the event. So
27:41
Speaker 13: we really that's the whole point of having it over
27:44
Speaker 13: there is we want people to be able to wander
27:46
Speaker 13: in and out of the spaces and see them and
27:49
Speaker 13: see the work that we've done to create the public
27:54
Speaker 13: the public space that is for the people of Charleston,
27:57
Speaker 13: literally by the people of Charleston, because they're giving us
28:00
Speaker 13: that money through these ticket sales. So it's it's really
28:03
Speaker 13: cool to just be able to stand there and look
28:05
Speaker 13: around and see all the people that are helping make
28:07
Speaker 13: all these things happen.
28:09
Speaker 3: And of course all of our stations are going to
28:10
Speaker 3: be there as well. We're looking forward to it. I'll
28:12
Speaker 3: be there with ninety eight seven Mountain On. I think
28:16
Speaker 3: I'm going to roll in there about about three or
28:18
Speaker 3: four I'm scheduled to be there at five, but I
28:20
Speaker 3: don't want to miss a good time. I may be
28:22
Speaker 3: there just a little bit earlier. Good but you know
28:24
Speaker 3: V one hundred, I know Steve is going to be there,
28:27
Speaker 3: kws the beat. We're all going to be down there,
28:29
Speaker 3: so we're looking forward to it, right. We love the
28:31
Speaker 3: partnership we have with you guys too.
28:33
Speaker 8: We can't tell you how much we appreciate it.
28:34
Speaker 4: I'll say that, all right.
28:35
Speaker 3: Give us the information available on social media, websites and ticketing.
28:40
Speaker 14: Charlestondurbanworks dot Org is where you can go to buy
28:42
Speaker 14: your tickets. You can also go straight to the October
28:44
Speaker 14: West Facebook page and the event page as well. All
28:48
Speaker 14: the information about everything happening in real time is or
28:50
Speaker 14: on those pages.
28:51
Speaker 6: All right, we'll see you guys there.
28:52
Speaker 3: And we had a texture said one business I'd love
28:54
Speaker 3: to see come back forty years later, Chris is hot Dogs.
28:56
Speaker 14: Well, so what I remember the day when Chris is
29:00
Speaker 14: The days when Chris hod Dog was there.
29:01
Speaker 3: Coop's to be busy, right, I was gas. Do you
29:03
Speaker 3: remember Christmas hot Dogs on the West Side?
29:06
Speaker 14: It was Gonzoe Burger after it was Christmas hod Dogs
29:09
Speaker 14: that's actually a great example of a project that we
29:11
Speaker 14: were extremely involved quickly. You may remember back in this
29:15
Speaker 14: has been several years ago, but the owners of me
29:17
Speaker 14: Cassina Damore, which unfortunately is now closed as well, they're
29:20
Speaker 14: the ones who wanted that building to put this Burger
29:22
Speaker 14: join in. And I was able in my role with
29:26
Speaker 14: Charleston Main Streets at the time, now Urban Works was
29:28
Speaker 14: able to directly connect the property owner at the time
29:31
Speaker 14: who still owned who's the family of Christmas hot Dogs,
29:35
Speaker 14: with an investor who was interested in buying the building.
29:37
Speaker 14: The now owner of that building. They they were able
29:40
Speaker 14: to work it out. They were able to buy it.
29:41
Speaker 14: They used historic tax credits to restore that building. If
29:44
Speaker 14: you look, I mean it has a completely different look now,
29:46
Speaker 14: but they used all historic standards to renovate and restore
29:50
Speaker 14: that building both floors, first and second floor. And of
29:53
Speaker 14: course we were able to directly connect the business owner
29:56
Speaker 14: to come in and open up Gonzo Berger And of
29:58
Speaker 14: course they did a lot of work to the inside
29:59
Speaker 14: to get it to a it looks the way it
30:00
Speaker 14: looks today. So that's an example of the work that
30:02
Speaker 14: we do somewhat behind the scenes because a lot of
30:04
Speaker 14: that's confidential.
30:06
Speaker 6: But we're here is networking. It's connecting people, you know
30:09
Speaker 6: while we're here, and that's why you're in there.
30:11
Speaker 13: And everybody that's touched that building has made an impact
30:13
Speaker 13: on it, whether they've come and gone or stay, it
30:16
Speaker 13: all has a really cool impact on the community there, all.
30:18
Speaker 6: Right, Rick, Kevin de Larneatch, appreciate you both being here.
30:20

34:26
Speaker 3: I am doing well. Thanks, thanks for joining us today
34:29
Speaker 3: because you're always interesting conversation. I want to have you
34:31
Speaker 3: on my friend. But today we're going to talk about
34:33
Speaker 3: something that's near and dear to my heart and your
34:35
Speaker 3: heart as well, and that is animals. There's going to
34:37
Speaker 3: be an event happening over Dutch Miller's Subaru on October
34:41
Speaker 3: the eighteenth, from eleven to four, and that of course
34:43
Speaker 3: is nineteen oh one Patrick Street Plaza. I love the
34:46
Speaker 3: name Chris hol Oween and you guys have how that's howl.
34:51
Speaker 6: You guys to kind of put your.
34:52
Speaker 3: Name on this. I know you and know your family,
34:55
Speaker 3: and I know the superroof folks talking about the Subaru Corporation.
34:59
Speaker 3: They're really really big on helping out animals.
35:03
Speaker 5: Huge and so we partner with the Canall Charleston Humane
35:08
Speaker 5: Society and we basically did this huge pet adoption event
35:12
Speaker 5: every single year. So funny story. Last year, I took
35:16
Speaker 5: my daughter to this event and I promised my wife, Oh,
35:19
Speaker 5: we're not adopting any animals because we have these two big,
35:22
Speaker 5: huge Great Danes and they, you know, they're like they're
35:25
Speaker 5: like children basically in our house. We've got three kids
35:28
Speaker 5: and two Great Danes. So anyway, my daughter and I
35:31
Speaker 5: go to the pet adoption event and she has the
35:34
Speaker 5: uncanny ability to talk me into adopting two kittens. So
35:39
Speaker 5: we get back home after telling my wife we're not
35:41
Speaker 5: adopting anything, I promised show up with two cats in
35:43
Speaker 5: a box.
35:45
Speaker 6: Well did it work out? Go ahead's cowing over?
35:48
Speaker 5: Okay, you know everybody loves the cats.
35:52
Speaker 3: Now okay, well, how did it go over with the
35:53
Speaker 3: relationship with the Great Danes and the cats?
35:55
Speaker 6: Sou's a how is that dynamic?
35:57
Speaker 5: Oh? Now that's funny because we have one male Great
36:01
Speaker 5: Dan and one female Great Dane. The female great dane's
36:03
Speaker 5: kind of old and she like the cats don't mess
36:05
Speaker 5: with her at all. They smell and she's like the
36:08
Speaker 5: real deal. The male is kind of a woosie, and
36:12
Speaker 5: those cats honed in on that really quickly. And so
36:16
Speaker 5: we have had to basically referee some fights between two
36:21
Speaker 5: cats and a Great Dane. That is always very wild
36:26
Speaker 5: to see. Now it's stopped now because we're a year
36:28
Speaker 5: down the road, But when it first happened, they were
36:31
Speaker 5: posturing for pecking order.
36:33
Speaker 3: Well, and the thing about it is, well, here's what
36:35
Speaker 3: I know. I've got cats. I don't have dogs, but
36:37
Speaker 3: I got cats, and I know cats control the house.
36:39
Speaker 3: And I'll guarantee you if there's a pecking order, those
36:42
Speaker 3: cats will probably have already taken over that great dane spot.
36:45
Speaker 5: They did, Yeah, those they did really quickly. Now now
36:48
Speaker 5: the older great Dane, they don't mess with her at all.
36:52
Speaker 5: It's just funny because she's the.
36:54
Speaker 3: Alpha, right yeah, well because she's really the one in charge.
36:56
Speaker 3: But but you're right about that. But yeah, and great Danes,
36:59
Speaker 3: from what I know about them, tend to be kind
37:01
Speaker 3: of big, old pussy cats anyway, no pun intended, So
37:04
Speaker 3: they're a mental giants are kind of gentle giants. So
37:07
Speaker 3: that event again, well I'll recap that a little bit
37:09
Speaker 3: later on, but it's happening on October the eighteenth, eleven
37:11
Speaker 3: to four at Dutch millerch suber U nineteen oh one
37:14
Speaker 3: Patrick Strick Plaza in Charleston. And let me just say,
37:16
Speaker 3: I think it's great that what your family does for
37:21
Speaker 3: animals and your employees, but also Subaru as a corporation. Again,
37:25
Speaker 3: I have every Friday, Chris on the show, I have
37:27
Speaker 3: Angie Gillenwater from the Gonaal charlest and Humane Association on
37:30
Speaker 3: every Friday with our dop me please Pet of the Week.
37:32
Speaker 3: And every week she's throwing out the name Subaru. She's saying, so,
37:36
Speaker 3: you know, thank you so much to Subaru for this,
37:38
Speaker 3: you know, uh clear the shelter event or whatever it
37:41
Speaker 3: is that they're calling it.
37:42
Speaker 6: I mean, suber is really invested in this.
37:45
Speaker 5: Yes they are, and they're the real deal man. Of
37:47
Speaker 5: all the manufacturers that we do business with, Suberu literally
37:50
Speaker 5: practices what they preach and they really believe in giving
37:54
Speaker 5: back to the community. And everybody loves pets and wants
37:57
Speaker 5: to help out as best as possible. So you know,
37:59
Speaker 5: why is it being this big, huge win win. Last
38:02
Speaker 5: year we adopted seventy two animals, which was a record
38:05
Speaker 5: for us at the super restore in Charleston.
38:08
Speaker 20: Wow.
38:09
Speaker 5: And so there were literally seventy two animals that were
38:11
Speaker 5: rescued and given to Great Homes last year and we
38:15
Speaker 5: got to beat that record. So everybody out there listening
38:18
Speaker 5: right now, we need your help. We're gonna have all
38:20
Speaker 5: kinds of awesome animals. Cats, dogs, puppies, kittens, you name it.
38:26
Speaker 5: I don't think there's any cockatails or birds in this
38:28
Speaker 5: adoption event this year, but.
38:31
Speaker 6: You never know had you had them in the past.
38:34
Speaker 6: The cocka tilS we had, No, we have not.
38:37
Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you because what I've learned and talking
38:39
Speaker 3: to Angie every Friday, is they always got something that's
38:43
Speaker 3: off the beaten path up there a little bit. I
38:45
Speaker 3: mean they've had, you know, a couple of snakes and
38:47
Speaker 3: they've had a couple of pigs, and you know, it's
38:49
Speaker 3: like it's.
38:49
Speaker 6: Like ei eio up there.
38:51
Speaker 5: Man. It's kind of like, you know, life in our
38:54
Speaker 5: household every single day. Oh gosh, exactly. Also, Dave and Davis,
39:00
Speaker 5: who actually used to work with us at the super
39:03
Speaker 5: dealership and now is in Nashville performing and making a living.
39:07
Speaker 5: She's an up and coming artist. She's coming back up
39:10
Speaker 5: to give a concert. So the entire time from eleven
39:13
Speaker 5: to four on Saturday eighteenth, We're also going to have
39:16
Speaker 5: a performance from Emmy Davis and it's just going to
39:19
Speaker 5: be a blast of the time.
39:20
Speaker 3: All right, sounds good and we'll remind the folks about
39:23
Speaker 3: it twenty before we get there. That event again is
39:26
Speaker 3: happening on October the eighteenth, eleven to four. Dutch Miller,
39:28
Speaker 3: super Rude nineteen oh one, Patrick Street Plaza and Charleston Today.

39:50
Speaker 3: All right, I would be remiss, mister Miller if I didn't.
39:52
Speaker 3: If I had you on the show, and I didn't
39:54
Speaker 3: pick that brain of yours to find out what's on
39:56
Speaker 3: that brain of yours. What's on your mind these days?
39:59
Speaker 3: Politic cool, news wise, what's what's got your mind?
40:03
Speaker 6: Work in these days?
40:04
Speaker 5: My friend, I've been rolled up in work and having
40:08
Speaker 5: an absolute blast. We're in the middle of one of
40:11
Speaker 5: the largest acquisitions we've ever done, which is really really exciting,
40:15
Speaker 5: and hopefully we'll have a big, huge formal announcement and
40:19
Speaker 5: a transition that will happen sometime the end of November
40:21
Speaker 5: beginning of December. And that soaked up a bunch of
40:24
Speaker 5: my time. And when I've got something like that going on,
40:26
Speaker 5: I'm early laser focused. I kind of don't listen to
40:28
Speaker 5: a lot of the noise out there. But I will
40:31
Speaker 5: tell you that West Virginia is in an interesting place
40:36
Speaker 5: because where we were two years ago versus where we
40:39
Speaker 5: are now is basically the same thing. And West Virginia
40:44
Speaker 5: has a major financial catastrophe coming. We have to add
40:48
Speaker 5: two hundred thousand people to our state over the next
40:50
Speaker 5: eight to ten years. Or because of the way that
40:54
Speaker 5: the Affordable Care Act put pressure in rural states from
40:57
Speaker 5: Medicare and Medicaid expansion, and our aging population and a
41:01
Speaker 5: declining population. More and more of our state's budget is
41:04
Speaker 5: going to be soaked up by the DHHR and required
41:07
Speaker 5: for reinbursement for medicare to the point where we don't
41:11
Speaker 5: have enough money to operate our general revenue budget. And
41:17
Speaker 5: that's going to affect the bond ratings and put us
41:19
Speaker 5: in a tail spin, and it's going to be really,
41:21
Speaker 5: really ugly. And so the thing that I would encourage
41:25
Speaker 5: all of the legislators out there listening and as well
41:28
Speaker 5: as anybody in the executive branch, we need to have
41:31
Speaker 5: a wholehearted focus on economic growth and development, focusing on
41:34
Speaker 5: adding population to our state, because if we do not
41:37
Speaker 5: do that, it is going to be a bad, bad day.
41:40
Speaker 5: And what happens is is that it's the rural counties,
41:44
Speaker 5: in the rural areas that get hit with the funding
41:46
Speaker 5: reductions first. And we all know already that they're struggling.
41:50
Speaker 3: To begin with, right, I mean, you think about areas Chris,
41:53
Speaker 3: like a McDowell County or a Boone count I'm just
41:56
Speaker 3: using them as an example, and they're several in the
41:58
Speaker 3: northern part of the state as well. More rural areas
42:00
Speaker 3: that are really starting to suffer. And we're seeing tremendous
42:04
Speaker 3: growth where I live in Putnam County right now, the
42:06
Speaker 3: Eastern Panhandle Sea.
42:07
Speaker 6: But we got to figure.
42:08
Speaker 3: Out a way to be able to distribute this because
42:12
Speaker 3: these counties can't carry the load for everybody.
42:16
Speaker 6: And I don't know how you go about that. What
42:18
Speaker 6: would your plan be? I mean, you know you're smart, guy,
42:23
Speaker 6: So what's your plan.
42:25
Speaker 5: Whenever I'm looking at something, I swat it right. Strengths
42:28
Speaker 5: weakens his opportunity threats. We have an incredible amount of strengths.
42:33
Speaker 5: We have the ability to produce massive amounts of energy.
42:37
Speaker 5: We have more water than any other state in the country.
42:39
Speaker 5: We got more miles of river than anybody else, and
42:41
Speaker 5: we own the Ohio River to the high water mark
42:44
Speaker 5: of Ohio. And if you think about where we are
42:47
Speaker 5: right now, everything is going to be about artificial intelligence.
42:51
Speaker 5: And we are not a part of the coating. We
42:53
Speaker 5: are not a part of the stock ownership. We are
42:56
Speaker 5: not a part of the creation of the entity that
42:58
Speaker 5: is going to transcend and create the largest wealth separation
43:02
Speaker 5: that we have ever seen. But what we have is
43:05
Speaker 5: what they need because it takes massive amounts of water
43:09
Speaker 5: to manufacture the Cubit and the other artificial intelligence computation ships.
43:15
Speaker 5: It takes massive amounts of water to cool the servers
43:18
Speaker 5: required to handle all this computation power, and it takes
43:21
Speaker 5: massive amounts of power to generate the computation needed for
43:26
Speaker 5: all of the artificial intelligence. And so what I believe
43:30
Speaker 5: West Virginia's opportunity is is two things. One, we should
43:35
Speaker 5: leverage all of our resources to dramatically reduce the cost
43:39
Speaker 5: of power, and I'm talking about seventy to eighty percent reduction,
43:43
Speaker 5: and you use that as the foundation of all of
43:45
Speaker 5: our economic growth and development, because power is going to
43:48
Speaker 5: be looked at as a fixed cost in the future,
43:51
Speaker 5: and businesses are going to need it and it is
43:53
Speaker 5: going to continue to raise in cost. And so our
43:57
Speaker 5: one differentiator in the emerging twenty first century economy to
44:00
Speaker 5: drive our population over our economy can be leverage all
44:03
Speaker 5: of our resources to be the cheapest state in the
44:06
Speaker 5: country when it comes to power, and they will come
44:09
Speaker 5: to us. Also. You think about Jim and Susie Adkins,
44:13
Speaker 5: and they're both on Social Security and they're seventy years old.
44:17
Speaker 5: You cut their power bill by seventy percent, You've done
44:20

Speaker 3: helicopters onto apartment buildings in the middle of the night,
48:15
Speaker 3: then break into the apartments to remove people from their homes,
48:18

48:34
Speaker 3: Chicago Coop tells me Tuxa, Texas. Trump is saying he's
48:38
Speaker 3: going to pay. He's not going to pay. I'm sorry
48:40
Speaker 3: furloughed federal employees their backpay. Typical Trump not to pay employees.
48:44
Speaker 3: That's a common thing throughout its history. A real man
48:46
Speaker 3: of the working people right there, says.
48:49
Speaker 6: Texture Texas Dave.
48:51
Speaker 3: I still think repurposing unused portable classrooms to help with
48:55
Speaker 3: the shelter overflows all of the state would make a
48:57
Speaker 3: huge impact.
48:58
Speaker 6: We have.
49:00
Speaker 3: We have such a kind of generous community of business owners, contractors,
49:03
Speaker 3: and citizens who I believe, if explained the goal and
49:06
Speaker 3: has to help, would not hesitate to volunteer time supplies
49:09
Speaker 3: some funds to repurpose the insides of those buildings to
49:12
Speaker 3: make them fit for animals. So many have to be
49:14
Speaker 3: turned away here, and sadly we still have shelters in
49:17
Speaker 3: the state that euthanized to quote make room this could end.
49:20
Speaker 3: Please consider that, says it's ekster.
49:22
Speaker 6: Tex says, two.
49:23
Speaker 3: Hundred thousand more West Virginian's day. If you're gonna have
49:25
Speaker 3: to help us repopulate the state, get cracking.
49:28
Speaker 6: No, no, that's a hard no. Uh, let me see.
49:34
Speaker 3: Tex says, we will never grow until we get away
49:38
Speaker 3: from bowing down to coal barons and start getting the
49:41
Speaker 3: jobs like Toyota to locate here. Kentucky doesn't have this problem,
49:45
Speaker 3: just West Virginia. Well, there's a lot of coal and
49:46
Speaker 3: quote unquote cole barons in Kentucky as well. It's nine
49:50
Speaker 3: fifty seven and I mentioned this earlier. State Cenator Mike
49:54
Speaker 3: Stewart and more Capito are getting new jobs. As was expected,
49:57
Speaker 3: Stuart confirmed yesterday to be the newest the new General

50:49
Speaker 3: tomorrow's show. Tex says, Dave. Did you see knock of
50:57
Speaker 3: Joseph Gibbels aka Stephen Miller glitch out on CNN when
51:01
Speaker 3: he said Trump Trump had power plenary power means absolute authority.
51:07
Speaker 3: Seems like he said the quiet part out loud. We
51:10
Speaker 3: all know Trump and maga's end end goals absolute authority,
51:15
Speaker 3: says a Texter text says, we're getting to the point
51:17
Speaker 3: where the danger is the criminals attempting to destroy the
51:19
Speaker 3: country through MAGA and Project twenty five are starting to
51:23
Speaker 3: realize they're going to get routed at elections. Can we
51:26
Speaker 3: agree that the moment the idea of messing with elections
51:29
Speaker 3: at all is too far that we almost rise up
51:32
Speaker 3: and stop the hostile takeover by foreign bought businessmen and
51:36
Speaker 3: amoral perverts running the country. Text says deep state swine
51:42
Speaker 3: James Comy will be indicted. Hold on, and they sent
51:45
Speaker 3: me another text that it erased the first text deep
51:47
Speaker 3: state Swine James Comy will be indicted in a few moments.
51:51
Speaker 6: Just wanted to.

52:24
Speaker 3: to do. There's plenty to do, not only in Charleston
52:27
