A life-saving run turned into a legacy of giving back: Jim Westendorf, who survived cardiac arrest in 2017 thanks to strangers and first responders, teamed up with his wife Lisa to launch the Westendorf Have a Heart Foundation Scholarship at Sinclair Community College in 2021. Now, they’ve awarded $12,500 to 15 students training to become EMTs and first responders — all while inspiring the next generation of heroes.
