- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:08Speaker 2: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks DJ and
- 0:10Speaker 2: my friend Baldy here. Buck's traveling back from England after
- 0:14Speaker 2: the Jags took one on the chin there against against
- 0:17Speaker 2: the Rams. So no Bucky today. He'll be back tomorrow, Weldy.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We got some games to rip through. But where were you?
- 0:22Speaker 2: First of all? Yesterday I was in Minnesota.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yesterday I saw the Eagles offense and the receivers, you
- 0:27Speaker 1: know kind of you know, they still have their aduldrums
- 0:30Speaker 1: where they don't do anything for period of time and
- 0:32Speaker 1: then they just explode.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And then you know, Carson was good at times and
- 0:36Speaker 3: then he was bad at times.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And the same things that have allowed Carson, you know,
- 0:41Speaker 1: to travel to six teams and six different places here
- 0:44Speaker 1: is the same things that you know. He's still mechanically
- 0:48Speaker 1: just completely falls apart at times, and it really affects
- 0:51Speaker 1: the way that he plays, despite some really good plays.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And I have no doubt. Let let's just start with
- 0:56Speaker 2: this game's already on it. I went through its interesting.
- 0:59Speaker 2: We talked last if you remember on here, and uh,
- 1:02Speaker 2: I said, Man, when I when I'm watching all the
- 1:04Speaker 2: top offenses, I feel like I'm seeing some trends here,
- 1:06Speaker 2: which is under you want to get your chunk plays,
- 1:09Speaker 2: it's under center. It's play action, it's early on and downs,
- 1:12Speaker 2: and then take your vertical shots where you can protect
- 1:14Speaker 2: the quarterback and get vertical and then you're in the gun.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Let's get the ball out quick. Let's not sit back
- 1:18Speaker 2: there and hold the ball forever. And it was like
- 1:20Speaker 2: magically the Eagles jumped on board this week.
- 1:23Speaker 3: You still have a pipeline, you know, to show that organization. DJ.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's interesting because I talked to Lane Johnson before the
- 1:30Speaker 1: game down the field and he told me watch that
- 1:32Speaker 1: you know, we're gonna be understted a little bit, just
- 1:34Speaker 1: you know today baldy Uh. I talked to AJ Brown
- 1:37Speaker 1: he said similar things. And then I talked to Kevin Patullo,
- 1:41Speaker 1: who looked like he was that you know that coach
- 1:43Speaker 1: that comes down the field before the game and he's
- 1:44Speaker 1: just looking for a friend, like he's just been.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Bashed for He's exactly what that looks like.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know, like that guy's just standing all by himself
- 1:54Speaker 1: and nobody's talking to him, and they don't might not
- 1:56Speaker 1: even know who he is.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I end up talking to Patula for it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: You know, I've known a little bit, but it's not
- 2:01Speaker 1: like I, you know, seek him out, but I knew
- 2:03Speaker 1: when he was at the Jets and know his history,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and so we just started talking about about almost that
- 2:08Speaker 1: DJ like how in this league right now, when these
- 2:10Speaker 1: teams are playing these shell defenses and playing these zones, like.
- 2:14Speaker 3: How you're getting your explosive plays.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And so, I mean, Jalen's not a big guy to
- 2:20Speaker 1: go under center and turns back to the defense and
- 2:22Speaker 1: do that, but he recognized that, you know, they needed
- 2:25Speaker 1: to do that. They got the big seventy nine yard
- 2:28Speaker 1: touchdown to Devonte Smith that opened the game up in
- 2:31Speaker 1: the third quarter off of that, and they got a
- 2:33Speaker 1: couple other you know, big plays from it. So you know,
- 2:36Speaker 1: it's something I think that now will be a part
- 2:38Speaker 1: of what they do.
- 2:39Speaker 2: The other thing I was noticing just going through their video,
- 2:43Speaker 2: a man Shipley blocked his tail off in the backfield
- 2:46Speaker 2: he's playing. He played a decent amount in there.
- 2:50Speaker 3: AJ Dillons didn't play.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They deactivated, So Shipley was, you know, the change of
- 2:55Speaker 1: pace back for sake.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Gosh, I didn't I mean going back to his college stuff.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I don't remember him blocking like that. Like he he
- 3:00Speaker 2: was attacking. He was attacking blitzers and he's cutting guys.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You know, going against floors, you're going to get those,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you know, a lot of blob type situations. Back on
- 3:10Speaker 1: a backer. Sake One had to struggled a little bit
- 3:12Speaker 1: in that department. He always has kind of struggled. So
- 3:15Speaker 1: they got him a couple of times and they got
- 3:16Speaker 1: jailing down. But yeah, no, Shipley came in and did
- 3:19Speaker 1: some good stuff. They're still struggling in the run game. Yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: they've had you know, they've got a backup center in there.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I don't you know, they kind of I they asked
- 3:26Speaker 1: him to do things that he you know, I think
- 3:29Speaker 1: sometimes they asked their center to do what Kelsey could do.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Well, they've had a superhero there for a decade, so
- 3:34Speaker 2: I think.
- 3:35Speaker 1: They still said, Okay, you know, even if you have
- 3:37Speaker 1: a you know, uh inside eye to I, we can
- 3:40Speaker 1: still reach them with our with our center and Jalen Redmond,
- 3:43Speaker 1: you know, like I wrote it down, DJ, like Sake
- 3:46Speaker 1: One had eighteen runs. Eight of his eighteen runs went
- 3:49Speaker 1: for a yard or less, and over the course of
- 3:52Speaker 1: the season, it's like forty two percent of his runs
- 3:54Speaker 1: or a yard or less. There's just too many negative
- 3:57Speaker 1: runs right now.
- 3:57Speaker 2: They haven't got it all rolling yet, but you know,
- 4:00Speaker 2: I think there that was a good sign that they're
- 4:02Speaker 2: starting to at least get some of the chunk plays
- 4:03Speaker 2: missing that they were missing. Uh in there, and then
- 4:06Speaker 2: I think on the uh, let's say on Philly, then
- 4:08Speaker 2: we get to Minnesota. Your thoughts on BG coming back
- 4:11Speaker 2: potentially here soon?
- 4:13Speaker 1: They you know, it's interesting because you know, they they
- 4:16Speaker 1: signed Bryce Huff last year for fifty one million dollars
- 4:19Speaker 1: and it just didn't fit and fit and Vic Vanjo's defense,
- 4:22Speaker 1: he's not an outside linebacker. He can't do the things
- 4:24Speaker 1: they asked Jalox Hunt to do yesterday or some of
- 4:27Speaker 1: the things they do they're they're outside guys to do,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and and so like he just you know, they basically deactivated.
- 4:33Speaker 1: He's in San Francisco and he's lights out good right now.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Right so he's been the best pass rusher and they
- 4:39Speaker 1: just don't have a guy right now like Jalox Hunt,
- 4:42Speaker 1: Joshua o'j lowry, like Nolan Smith is still you know.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Not ready. They really don't have a.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Guy off the edge like, I kind of feel like
- 4:50Speaker 1: he could give you ten to fifteen plays right now.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I think he might have to. I mean I think
- 4:54Speaker 2: I think I think o Jallari got hurt, right, So,
- 4:57Speaker 2: I mean they're there and there they played.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They played you know, the Kobe Dean came back from
- 5:04Speaker 1: inch reserve, and so they played Jihad Campbell outside, which
- 5:08Speaker 1: he's actually a really good linebacker. He knows how to
- 5:10Speaker 1: play on the edge. He's just not a polished pass rusher,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know, and so you know, they didn't really get
- 5:16Speaker 1: much of him in the pass rush, and so you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: and I think they were going to play that. He
- 5:21Speaker 1: played NA Kobe and Zach and along with Jihad, but
- 5:25Speaker 1: I think they need a guy and I don't know
- 5:27Speaker 1: who's out there DJ. But you know, BG, he came
- 5:31Speaker 1: back last year from a torn tricept played really good
- 5:33Speaker 1: in a couple of games, So I can see that happening.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, So BG, if you don't know, we're talking about
- 5:37Speaker 2: Brandon Graham. And as we're recording this, there's a lot
- 5:39Speaker 2: of rumblings and talk that he can be coming back
- 5:41Speaker 2: very soon out of retirement to help tran bolster that
- 5:44Speaker 2: edge rush on the on the Minnesota side of things,
- 5:46Speaker 2: just real quick, Baldy. I went through and watched Addison stuff.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I mean the box score was impressive. He had nine
- 5:52Speaker 2: for a buck twenty eight. Man, he is so fluid.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I remember going back and looking at my notes from
- 5:56Speaker 2: him when he was come out of USC after transfer pit,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and he I thought he was a real polished up
- 6:01Speaker 2: route runner. And I almost think he gets kind of
- 6:03Speaker 2: lost there just because when you got Justin Jefferson, I mean,
- 6:06Speaker 2: it's gonna that's where your eye goes. But I mean
- 6:09Speaker 2: this guy, I think Jordan Adison on could be a
- 6:11Speaker 2: one on a lot of teams in this league.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Well, he's a great route runner. I mean he turned
- 6:16Speaker 3: he turned everybody.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I mean just weaving down. I mean even.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Quinnion Mitchell, you know, really struggled with some of those
- 6:21Speaker 1: timing routes where he's he's just giving you that. You know,
- 6:24Speaker 1: what we're seeing from Jackson Smith and Jeg Bad and
- 6:27Speaker 1: what we're seeing from a booker. These guys just got
- 6:29Speaker 1: these subtle head and moves right now and the corners
- 6:31Speaker 1: are all he's going to the post. Next thing you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: he's catching the ball. You know, on the sideline, he's
- 6:36Speaker 1: really subtle. And look they they they moved the ball.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You look at the numbers. They moved the ball downfield.
- 6:43Speaker 1: They were terrible in the red zone. They had a situation.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I talked to wide receiver coach after the game, like
- 6:48Speaker 1: you had a situation. There are second and one at
- 6:50Speaker 1: the six down fourteen to three. They throw it to
- 6:53Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson. It's right in his hands. Cooper Degen makes
- 6:56Speaker 1: a great play on the ball, and then they kind
- 6:58Speaker 1: of pissed, you know, the next two plays away they
- 7:00Speaker 1: kicked the field goal. They this new center, Blake Brandle,
- 7:03Speaker 1: he's never played before outside of last week. I used
- 7:06Speaker 1: to have the ball over Carson's hands. They lose thirty yards,
- 7:09Speaker 1: like they just foiled, like some really good opportunities where
- 7:13Speaker 1: they could have really scored touchdowns they kicked field goals instead.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well they had a big one coming up. The
- 7:18Speaker 2: Chargers smarting after the loss. Will get to in a
- 7:20Speaker 2: minute where the Colts got after them. That's a Thursday
- 7:22Speaker 2: night or so, Minnesota on the road. Thursday at the
- 7:25Speaker 2: Chargers should be a big game. Let's get that Atlanta,
- 7:26Speaker 2: San Francisco. You referenced tough. I mean, just let's start
- 7:30Speaker 2: first of all, on the defense. I think the story
- 7:32Speaker 2: of the game is the defense when you consider ball
- 7:35Speaker 2: you mentioned in the text right, just who they're missing
- 7:37Speaker 2: and how well they played on that side of the ball.
- 7:39Speaker 3: So I got to.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Give whatever Robert Salad is doing, like it's nothing but kids.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You know, it's Alfred Collins, It's Mike cal Williams, it's
- 7:47Speaker 1: you know, Upton Stout, it's uh, you know, Marquis Siegel,
- 7:50Speaker 1: it's you know, they.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Got you know, uh Taytum Buffune with with.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Domes in there, Dean Winters, like it's all kids. This
- 7:57Speaker 1: Malik Bustapha, Like I got to some of the hits
- 8:00Speaker 1: he had. I can't imagine John Lynch watching that game
- 8:03Speaker 1: and sitting in his chair, like I got to think
- 8:05Speaker 1: he's just flying out of his chair, like I mean,
- 8:08Speaker 1: reminding him of himself the way he's laying the word
- 8:11Speaker 1: that team. I showed a couple of plays on a
- 8:14Speaker 1: breakdown DJ their pursuit, Like there's not a team in
- 8:18Speaker 1: the league that wouldn't put a couple of.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Plays that I put up and go, this is how
- 8:22Speaker 3: you get to the football.
- 8:23Speaker 1: This is what happens when you do v John Robinson
- 8:25Speaker 1: doesn't have eighty one yard runs when the team pursues
- 8:28Speaker 1: like that, that defense. I mean, Bryce off is a
- 8:34Speaker 1: really good player and he's he's and Slo knows how
- 8:37Speaker 1: to use them.
- 8:38Speaker 3: But I mean, other than that.
- 8:39Speaker 1: They don't really have a pure pass rusher. But they
- 8:41Speaker 1: created a lot Salo really got into his bag and
- 8:44Speaker 1: a lot of overloads. They got to, you know, they
- 8:47Speaker 1: got to Michael Pennix and for some, you know, incompletions,
- 8:50Speaker 1: for some a couple of intentional groundings. Drake London was
- 8:54Speaker 1: a non factor in the game. That was an impressive
- 8:57Speaker 1: display of football played by bunch of kids.
- 9:01Speaker 2: That was funny because I just I looked at the
- 9:03Speaker 2: box score. I didn't see the game, so I watched
- 9:05Speaker 2: the box score. I'm like, oh, it's sixty two yards
- 9:06Speaker 2: rushing for Atlanta. I'm gonna sart there. I'm gonna just
- 9:08Speaker 2: go watch all these runs. Yeah, So I'm watching them
- 9:11Speaker 2: and I've been. I mean, I feel like I've seen
- 9:12Speaker 2: a lot of the San Francisco defense over the last
- 9:14Speaker 2: decade because they've been such a good a good team. Well,
- 9:17Speaker 2: the I had to open up our lands because I'm like,
- 9:21Speaker 2: who is this? Who the heck is this, Julia Davis
- 9:23Speaker 2: was stout a seagull, and Mustafa with incredible fills.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Oh, like George Elliott.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Was making plays in there. I mean it was like
- 9:34Speaker 2: I didn't know who. I didn't know the numbers and names,
- 9:36Speaker 2: like as I'm going to obviously mikel You know, I
- 9:38Speaker 2: recognize his body type, so I could figure who he was.
- 9:41Speaker 2: But I'm watching this going these guys all shoot their gun,
- 9:43Speaker 2: they all play fast or all physical, and I my
- 9:47Speaker 2: takeaway that I wrote down was so, I mean, I'm
- 9:49Speaker 2: sure that's probably true at famous people, right, some people
- 9:51Speaker 2: are more famous from more valued in history after they
- 9:53Speaker 2: pass away. I'm like Robert Sala, look at the Jets
- 9:57Speaker 2: for crying out loud, what they look like since he
- 10:00Speaker 2: left there.
- 10:01Speaker 1: If they just left solid with the Jets and they
- 10:04Speaker 1: kept coughing, they didn't just like walk out the door
- 10:07Speaker 1: like that. Why their defense is playing? They're playing really good.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I mean, but Sala, I didn't seen him call games
- 10:12Speaker 1: like that when he was in New York though, Like
- 10:14Speaker 1: I've seen him two weeks in a row called great
- 10:16Speaker 1: games and really throughout the year. But like, it's just
- 10:19Speaker 1: hard to overcome the loss of Nick Bosa and Fred
- 10:22Speaker 1: Warner and they have on that. I mean, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: your superstars win games for you. Yeah, like Rice Huff
- 10:29Speaker 1: he forced two fumbles yesterday, Alfred Collins Fellow and one
- 10:32Speaker 1: like those safeties are knocking the living just bringing time
- 10:36Speaker 1: they hit somebody they.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Played down hill. And I'm also, you know, seeing when
- 10:39Speaker 2: you're playing against these big time backs, and I would
- 10:41Speaker 2: say you could put him right in there at the
- 10:43Speaker 2: top of the list. And you look at Bajan and
- 10:45Speaker 2: how he's playing like this is not a play on
- 10:47Speaker 2: your heels, read and react. This is a get on
- 10:50Speaker 2: your toes, see it, trust it, and go and that
- 10:53Speaker 2: I haven't even seen your breakdown yet, but that that
- 10:55Speaker 2: was my same thing. I'm looking at him like there
- 10:57Speaker 2: are there is just a red flurry of bodies called it.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I said when they left the field, it was just
- 11:02Speaker 1: blood on the tracks because they were those red shirts yesterday. Yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and all I saw was seven guys on top of
- 11:07Speaker 1: b shon play Houzier or Panix, And all I saw
- 11:10Speaker 1: was just like like literally just drawing blood on every
- 11:14Speaker 1: play man. But don't you just want to watch a
- 11:16Speaker 1: fun game? Just watch that one against a really good offense.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I mean that's a good offense, and they led the league.
- 11:22Speaker 1: They came in averaging one hundred and fifty one yards
- 11:24Speaker 1: a game rushing, like they didn't get anything.
- 11:27Speaker 2: But I just think of these other games you watch
- 11:28Speaker 2: and you see people getting up to linebackers and you
- 11:31Speaker 2: see this everybody's just kind of like trying to see
- 11:33Speaker 2: sort of like hey, man, get your keys, trust your
- 11:37Speaker 2: eyes and go, like you've got to go get these guys.
- 11:39Speaker 2: If you're going to sit there on your heels against
- 11:41Speaker 2: these types of running backs, you're gonna get gashed.
- 11:44Speaker 1: All they're looking for. All they need is a little
- 11:46Speaker 1: bit of daylight, yep. And these guys are too good.
- 11:48Speaker 2: So I mean sometimes I think it's like, oh man,
- 11:50Speaker 2: that's the scheme and the man, they schemed that up well.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And other times I think they just have installed the
- 11:54Speaker 2: temperament there of like this is our style, is how
- 11:57Speaker 2: we're going to play.
- 11:58Speaker 1: And there's a and DJ like I don't remember what
- 12:01Speaker 1: defensive coording made it was, you know, you know, Rob
- 12:05Speaker 1: Ryan or somebody there was like a step up and
- 12:07Speaker 1: clean it up or back up and give it up.
- 12:08Speaker 3: And I think they stepped up and cleaned it up. Man.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great line. I love that. All Right,
- 12:13Speaker 2: Giants Denver, I think maybe the most entertaining game of
- 12:15Speaker 2: the day. I think you could safely say both quarterbacks
- 12:18Speaker 2: had game winning drives. I mean, Jackson Dart's not going
- 12:20Speaker 2: to get credit for his because the defense kind of
- 12:23Speaker 2: blew it at the end. But then give bow Nick's
- 12:25Speaker 2: credit because he got them down at the end of
- 12:26Speaker 2: the game. Wild game thirty three thirty two, Denver comes
- 12:29Speaker 2: from way behind end up winning that why thirty.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Three points in the fourth quarter DJ And honestly, like
- 12:35Speaker 1: if you watched it, I mean, Jackson Dart is just
- 12:37Speaker 1: an amazing He just has an amazing awareness around him,
- 12:41Speaker 1: like that those guys coming after him are just like
- 12:45Speaker 1: there's just blood in the water, man, those are sharks
- 12:47Speaker 1: coming after him. His ability just to avoid Nick Benito,
- 12:51Speaker 1: Jonathan Cooper, Zach Allen and then make plays.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And you know, like a lot of these guys that
- 12:56Speaker 1: run around they sacked themselves. He doesn't sack himself. You know,
- 13:00Speaker 1: like it wasn't clean all the time, but he just
- 13:02Speaker 1: has a feel for it. That's that's what I'm saying.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Like it felt like an SEC Saturday night game to me,
- 13:08Speaker 1: and you know, it's a shame that they lost because
- 13:11Speaker 1: Skataboo and Jackson Dart man if energized that a whole franchise,
- 13:16Speaker 1: But I felt like, after watching all of it, it
- 13:18Speaker 1: came down to literally one play DJ. It's a twenty
- 13:21Speaker 1: six to sixteen game with five minutes and change to
- 13:24Speaker 1: go in the fourth quarter, and Sean Payton is burning
- 13:27Speaker 1: his timeouts. He knows the clock is the enemy. He
- 13:29Speaker 1: needs the ball. So first down they run it, don't
- 13:33Speaker 1: get anything. Second down they run it. Sean Payton burns
- 13:36Speaker 1: first two timeouts. It's third down. If you just run
- 13:39Speaker 1: it on third down and punt, they still need two
- 13:41Speaker 1: scores and it's gonna be under five minutes to go
- 13:43Speaker 1: with no timeouts left, and they threw it and that's
- 13:46Speaker 1: when you know, they blitz zero at him and justin
- 13:49Speaker 1: suranad jumped back and you know, intercepted the Jackson Dart
- 13:52Speaker 1: you know play. They scored a touch and it turned
- 13:55Speaker 1: the whole thing around. I don't want to put it
- 13:56Speaker 1: on the coach, but like the dable's got to be
- 13:58Speaker 1: better than that. He's got a rookie quarterback, he got
- 14:00Speaker 1: a tough defense. I just thought that what moment the
- 14:03Speaker 1: only mistake Jackson Dart really made all day and it
- 14:06Speaker 1: really cost him.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Well, there's some line smart enough to remember it ball
- 14:10Speaker 2: that you and to Douke, discretion is a greater form
- 14:12Speaker 2: of valor. I don't know, I can't remember how it goes,
- 14:14Speaker 2: but something along those something along those lines. Yeah. Yeah,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I went through and I watched all darts pass attempts
- 14:22Speaker 2: in this game. Because he was fifteen for thirty three
- 14:23Speaker 2: so it wasn't like a super efficient but guys, two
- 14:25Speaker 2: hundred and eighty three yards, three touchdowns and a pick.
- 14:27Speaker 2: So I'm like, there's got to be some explosives baked
- 14:29Speaker 2: in here, Like what did this look like? So I
- 14:30Speaker 2: go in there and I know I know this. I
- 14:34Speaker 2: know this pass rush, you know, I see I know
- 14:36Speaker 2: this past rush well from Denver. So I'm like, man,
- 14:38Speaker 2: this will be interesting to see. But you man, he's
- 14:40Speaker 2: always does just continually. By time he's scrambling, they're moving
- 14:44Speaker 2: the pocket around. They didn't have an answer for the
- 14:46Speaker 2: tight end. They leak him out a couple of times
- 14:47Speaker 2: you get to kind of the crazy combo catch on
- 14:50Speaker 2: the tip tipball touchdown. But they did a nice job.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And to me, I wrote down in my notes, I
- 14:54Speaker 2: like for a young guy to play with urgency without
- 14:58Speaker 2: chaos like he was playing fas, but yet he was
- 15:01Speaker 2: able to then kind of slow things down. It wasn't
- 15:02Speaker 2: like he was scrammling throwing off his back foot. He
- 15:05Speaker 2: was just getting away from the trouble. And once he
- 15:07Speaker 2: got away from the trouble, he kind of slowed down
- 15:09Speaker 2: and got his eyes where they needed to be and
- 15:10Speaker 2: he made.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Just to that safe, clean spot where he's got a
- 15:15Speaker 1: good vision and he sees the whole field.
- 15:17Speaker 3: The guy sees the field really good.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I'd love to see, you know, like a little helmet
- 15:22Speaker 1: cam with him, just to see how he's scanning the field,
- 15:25Speaker 1: because if there's an open guy and he steps up
- 15:28Speaker 1: and clears the soup like he's going to make it completion,
- 15:31Speaker 1: he's gonna he's gonna find the open.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Guy, you know who he reminded me of. And this
- 15:34Speaker 2: is like because I know coming out and he's like
- 15:36Speaker 2: he's so, he's rugged and he's tough. He ran the
- 15:38Speaker 2: ball out of Old Miss and so people were saying
- 15:41Speaker 2: like he's kind of a smaller version of Josh Allen
- 15:43Speaker 2: because you know, he can do some of those type
- 15:45Speaker 2: of things. Yeah, all the I was watching him just
- 15:47Speaker 2: with that that one element of his game. That's Mahomes
- 15:50Speaker 2: ask a little bit where he's got a feel and
- 15:53Speaker 2: he can be fast, but then slow down and then
- 15:55Speaker 2: survey everything. Mahomes got unbelievable vision for all of his
- 15:58Speaker 2: tools that he has, his ability to be on the
- 16:00Speaker 2: move and see the entire field. So I'd be I know, Giants,
- 16:05Speaker 2: you know, look, the record is what it is. But
- 16:07Speaker 2: if I woke up this morning and I was a
- 16:08Speaker 2: Giants fan, like, I'm pretty pumped that I think you're
- 16:12Speaker 2: going to Man, I mean, that's not an easy place
- 16:15Speaker 2: to play.
- 16:15Speaker 1: It's a horrible It's I've never played up there seven
- 16:18Speaker 1: times in my career.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I never won a game in Denver.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Like, I mean, everybody's huffing and puffing up there, Like
- 16:24Speaker 1: if you're not from there, and you Jackson dart Man
- 16:28Speaker 1: him in Statabu, the two of them, man, they're they're amazing,
- 16:31Speaker 1: amazing players.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, on the Denver side of things, Hey, give Boonex's credit.
- 16:34Speaker 2: They get the ball left with thirty three seconds left
- 16:36Speaker 2: at their own twenty two, needing a field goal, and
- 16:39Speaker 2: it took them all of two plays to get in
- 16:40Speaker 2: field goal range. I mean, hey, I mean it was
- 16:44Speaker 2: that that. I don't even know if that ball was
- 16:46Speaker 2: intended for where it landed on the deep ball because
- 16:48Speaker 2: that that first play was like a deep sit route.
- 16:51Speaker 2: But he's I looked like he was trying to hit
- 16:52Speaker 2: the deep cross and it kind of missed him a
- 16:54Speaker 2: little bit. And then you just kind of you have,
- 16:56Speaker 2: you know, the guy out there to catch it. Either
- 16:58Speaker 2: way you get that big completion and then is there
- 17:00Speaker 2: any is there any better throat to have in your
- 17:04Speaker 2: back pocket than when you're in this type of situation
- 17:06Speaker 2: when you can work the sideline with Cortland Sutton and
- 17:08Speaker 2: just go I can just throw a back shoulder to him.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It's I mean there's not every receiver can run back
- 17:13Speaker 1: shoulder phage like that. You know, just have that length
- 17:15Speaker 1: of the footwork, legs go dead, you know, put your
- 17:18Speaker 1: put your hands on the ball. It's you know, and
- 17:21Speaker 1: they look give Demver credit, but that I felt like,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you know, after the Giants went down and scored like
- 17:27Speaker 1: the way they did that was that was a hard one.
- 17:30Speaker 3: If you're a Giant fan, you just you just gut
- 17:32Speaker 3: punched today.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Uh, Drew put in on a little chat here
- 17:36Speaker 2: that there was video that came out showing Burns upset
- 17:40Speaker 2: about them dropping eight in that situation. I mean, I
- 17:42Speaker 2: don't know. I've seen it work both ways. I've seen
- 17:45Speaker 2: teams try and heat up a quarterback and then give
- 17:47Speaker 2: up a run after catch explosive. I've seen teams try
- 17:49Speaker 2: and play coverage and drop eight and get beat.
- 17:51Speaker 3: So yeah, this this was like very similar though.
- 17:54Speaker 1: DJ they you know, they lost to Dallas, and you
- 17:57Speaker 1: know Dallas did the same thing. They hit Ferguson for
- 17:59Speaker 1: a eighteen yard throw over the middle. They didn't really
- 18:02Speaker 1: take anything away. Dak was a looking for anybody and
- 18:05Speaker 1: I just remember that play, like and then they kicked
- 18:07Speaker 1: the you know, they got a guy that kicks sixty
- 18:09Speaker 1: yard field goals and so you know, they let them
- 18:11Speaker 1: get to the fifty.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Like this is twice they.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Had games one against good teams and you know, let
- 18:17Speaker 1: it slip away.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough loss for them, But again I'm hopeful
- 18:21Speaker 2: and optimistic if you're a Giants fan, just based off
- 18:23Speaker 2: where the quarterback is right now, Washington Dallas. You mentioned
- 18:26Speaker 2: the Dallas team there, Baldy. They doubled up Washington. Jade
- 18:29Speaker 2: Daniels gets hurt forty four to twenty two. Dallas wins,
- 18:32Speaker 2: and it was kind of a was a Dak Prescott show.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I just play this game when I watched Dak, and
- 18:37Speaker 1: I actually did it with Flacco the other night. I'm
- 18:39Speaker 1: literally just going one two three, ball out, one two three.
- 18:43Speaker 3: There is a rhythm. I mean, I don't care if
- 18:45Speaker 3: it's a three step or five step drop.
- 18:47Speaker 1: He's hitching and he's throwing and however they're obviously it
- 18:51Speaker 1: helps that you have pickings and you have CD back,
- 18:54Speaker 1: but it doesn't matter if it's Jake Ferguson or who
- 18:56Speaker 1: he's thrown to right now the ball. I have never
- 18:59Speaker 1: seen Dak play this good. Ever, I don't care if
- 19:01Speaker 1: he had a Mari Cooper whoever. He's playing with like
- 19:04Speaker 1: his confidence level right now to see the field, to
- 19:07Speaker 1: know where his guys are when he has to throw
- 19:10Speaker 1: a jump ball to pickings, like he doesn't miss right now.
- 19:12Speaker 3: But I just thought, dude, I.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Just think in watching him because this is the third
- 19:17Speaker 1: time now DJ, they've put up forty plus, so this
- 19:20Speaker 1: isn't a fluke. This is what they can do. And
- 19:23Speaker 1: they got they got Booker back in the offensive line.
- 19:25Speaker 1: He got their guys all up front, so they ran
- 19:27Speaker 1: the ball really good. With Javonte, he looks like he
- 19:29Speaker 1: did his rookie year or even going back to North Carolina.
- 19:32Speaker 1: But so he's given him some real pop. But Dak
- 19:35Speaker 1: has a rhythm to this offense. It is as good
- 19:38Speaker 1: a timing rhythm offense as ers in the league right now.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I think one of the things that impressed me the
- 19:45Speaker 2: most going through his stuff in this game was I
- 19:47Speaker 2: always think about somethings with defenses almost like whack them all,
- 19:50Speaker 2: where you kind of they're trying to make late movement
- 19:53Speaker 2: and trying to they play kid of invert to cover
- 19:55Speaker 2: two on one of them, and it's just they're trying
- 19:56Speaker 2: to catch you with a late movement. And it's like
- 19:59Speaker 2: Dak is he'd be on leave a whackamole player because
- 20:01Speaker 2: it's like he just see that boom boom boom boom boom,
- 20:03Speaker 2: and then the next thing you know, ceedee lambs throwing
- 20:04Speaker 2: his hand up and you're splitting them and gashing him
- 20:06Speaker 2: like he's he looks very comfortable and poised, and none
- 20:10Speaker 2: of that late movement stuff's bother him at all. The
- 20:12Speaker 2: voids he's finding them.
- 20:13Speaker 1: To your point though, DJ the throw to the CD
- 20:16Speaker 1: for the big touchdown that was you know, play action
- 20:19Speaker 1: under center. You know, Max protected, Max it up and
- 20:22Speaker 1: really literally he could have thrown to Pickens or CD
- 20:24Speaker 1: like they were.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Both down the field. But I mean, you know they
- 20:27Speaker 3: they run into each other.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But you know, honestly, like I've been watching this Washington defense,
- 20:32Speaker 1: like people are just going after Lattimore like left and right,
- 20:35Speaker 1: like he just is not the same guy. Like I
- 20:38Speaker 1: don't know what they're gonna do, but the the accumulation
- 20:41Speaker 1: of injuries over the year, he's not anywhere near the
- 20:44Speaker 1: type of guy that would just challenge you know, big
- 20:46Speaker 1: ex receivers at the line of scrimmage and they couldn't
- 20:49Speaker 1: get off. It's they're running by him right now.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I know coming into the Charger game that they had
- 20:54Speaker 2: given up the most explosive pass plays because I was,
- 20:56Speaker 2: you know, getting ready prepping for that game. I got it,
- 20:58Speaker 2: especially after this when I got to their their fault
- 21:01Speaker 2: holding firm to that.
- 21:04Speaker 1: It looks at he's looking at takeaways and explosives and
- 21:07Speaker 1: if you're taking it away and you're limiting the explosives,
- 21:10Speaker 1: like you have a pretty good chance of winning these
- 21:12Speaker 1: games on Sunday, Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Jade and Daniels gets hurt when it's hamstring, so we'll
- 21:15Speaker 2: see how long that's going to be. This feels like
- 21:18Speaker 2: and this happens in sports. It's not just the NFL.
- 21:20Speaker 2: It happens in all types of sports. I think of uh,
- 21:23Speaker 2: you know us C Lincoln Riley's first year there. They
- 21:25Speaker 2: won all those games, but it was almost like, you know, guys,
- 21:27Speaker 2: this is not the schedule kind of fell our way.
- 21:30Speaker 2: We kind of got some breaks, like we're ahead, this
- 21:32Speaker 2: is ahead of schedule, not necessarily indicative of where we are.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I think last year we're kind of looking back at Washington,
- 21:37Speaker 2: go man. Everything kind of lined up for them. Well,
- 21:39Speaker 2: it all kind of worked. You got the the squeezed
- 21:41Speaker 2: the last little juice out of some veterans, and it
- 21:45Speaker 2: just kind of it popped form. And now I feel
- 21:47Speaker 2: like it's kind of come. It's come, not say crashing down,
- 21:49Speaker 2: but like this is probably more the the arc that
- 21:52Speaker 2: I thought they were on when Kingsbury got there, uh
- 21:54Speaker 2: you know, dan Quinn got there, Jane Daniels all coming
- 21:56Speaker 2: in there together. I thought this is probably three. You
- 21:58Speaker 2: have the year three, you'll see this tank take off.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Sometimes it goes out of order though chronologically.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Well, a couple of things. One I remember his first
- 22:06Speaker 1: game last year, Jade Daniels like he ran, he played
- 22:10Speaker 1: played Tampa and Todd Bowles split some every play and
- 22:13Speaker 1: he ran it sixteen times, a lot of them just
- 22:15Speaker 1: escaping the rush, and I thought, this guy's not going
- 22:17Speaker 1: to survive. Now they kept running him, and they're still
- 22:20Speaker 1: running him, and now he's starting to like these injuries
- 22:23Speaker 1: are coming because he's you know, he's not a big guy,
- 22:25Speaker 1: he's frail, he's tough as gonna go.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Yeah, he's very.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Narrow, and then you know, you take mclaar and you
- 22:31Speaker 1: take Debo, you take the top three receivers out, like
- 22:33Speaker 1: you're just going to be limited with any kind of
- 22:35Speaker 1: attacking that poor secondary of the Cowboys, and they didn't
- 22:38Speaker 1: have that ability. So it's you know, but some of
- 22:42Speaker 1: what you're saying is is definitely true. I'd like to
- 22:44Speaker 1: see him a little bit more at full strength. But
- 22:46Speaker 1: they did not get the running game going against Dallas,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and that had been their achilles heel all season long.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt. Let's take quick pause, we'll come back,
- 22:54Speaker 2: We'll get to three more games here really exciting weekend
- 22:57Speaker 2: of football. Some crazy games, one of them not exciting.
- 23:00Speaker 2: We'll get to that one, all right, Baldi. The game.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I was at Man I studying this game, getting ready.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Sometimes you look at records and you're like, okay, is
- 23:10Speaker 2: this kind of a fake five and one? You know,
- 23:12Speaker 2: like who have they played? What have they done? And
- 23:13Speaker 2: then I studied that the Colts all week getting ready
- 23:16Speaker 2: for the game, like no, no, no, this this offense
- 23:18Speaker 2: is very very good. And defensively I thought there was
- 23:22Speaker 2: some things maybe you could attack, especially because the secondary
- 23:24Speaker 2: injuries that they had. But offensively, this is a this
- 23:26Speaker 2: is a difficult team. I don't know if you follow him, Baldi,
- 23:29Speaker 2: but Dan Casey is you know a guy that all
- 23:32Speaker 2: these coaches follow that does a great job of posting
- 23:34Speaker 2: plays and he's you got to look at his He
- 23:37Speaker 2: did a full ten play breakdown. It just and it's
- 23:39Speaker 2: just the place. And then he gives a description of
- 23:41Speaker 2: what you play. Call is of ten plays for Shane
- 23:44Speaker 2: Stike and you can see the stuff he's doing is
- 23:46Speaker 2: in like he is next level with the stuff he's
- 23:49Speaker 2: doing offensively right now, a lot of insert stuff where
- 23:52Speaker 2: you've got tight end you've got two tight ends where
- 23:54Speaker 2: you've got the outside tight end releasing inside the tight
- 23:58Speaker 2: end next to him, and then it just looks like
- 24:00Speaker 2: you're going there to block somebody. Then he's gone, and
- 24:02Speaker 2: then you get a lot of just hold and release
- 24:04Speaker 2: stuff from guys on the perimeter and they're getting lost
- 24:07Speaker 2: and they're getting guys wide open. And then hey, you
- 24:10Speaker 2: get a third and ten, you want to take a
- 24:12Speaker 2: shot down the field. It's a double chip with like
- 24:14Speaker 2: a deep deep curl and a deep deep corner, but
- 24:17Speaker 2: understanding how to marry what you need protection wise to
- 24:20Speaker 2: get the ball vertically, and then not to mention all
- 24:22Speaker 2: the just the different ways they're running, like you know,
- 24:25Speaker 2: the counter stuff and same side poles and everything else
- 24:28Speaker 2: they're doing in the run game like it he was
- 24:31Speaker 2: as we talked about players getting in a rhythm, Shane
- 24:34Speaker 2: Stikeen got in a rhythm in that game. It was
- 24:36Speaker 2: it was surgery what they were doing.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Well, it's pretty interesting, you know because it started last year.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But you know, they they drafted Bortolini and they drafted
- 24:44Speaker 1: gun Salvi's you know, middle round guys that are starters,
- 24:47Speaker 1: and they let Will Fryes and Ryan Kelly go and
- 24:49Speaker 1: they rebuilt that offense line. Those kids are great players,
- 24:52Speaker 1: like tough kids. So that's up front. How many different
- 24:56Speaker 1: places did Tyler Warren line up?
- 24:58Speaker 2: You know, he's all over the place. He's everywhere, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 2: and so they ran duo with him at fullback and
- 25:03Speaker 2: he just cleans it up.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Okay, So so I've been watching this now because you know,
- 25:10Speaker 1: people want to like even Daniel Jones is that he's
- 25:12Speaker 1: being asked after the game, like you know, nobody expected
- 25:14Speaker 1: this and like, well, you know, you didn't do your work.
- 25:16Speaker 3: But you know, regardless, he's not making any mistakes DJ No,
- 25:20Speaker 3: he used to the ball is going where's like he's
- 25:22Speaker 3: seeing the field and that. But he's even when he
- 25:25Speaker 3: would see the field before he'd missed a throw, like
- 25:29Speaker 3: he wasn't an accurate guy, Like he's stick accurate right
- 25:32Speaker 3: now with the ball and his eyes just you know,
- 25:35Speaker 3: he trusts his eyes. But you know what Steichen is
- 25:38Speaker 3: doing with these tight ends, like running him through the
- 25:40Speaker 3: line where the guys are getting lost and they're getting
- 25:43Speaker 3: deep behind him, and and like that's that's been a
- 25:45Speaker 3: stateboard I feel like every week and honestly, I'm they
- 25:49Speaker 3: able to beat in the rams. If they didn't have
- 25:50Speaker 3: a knucklehead play, you know by the receiver, they could
- 25:53Speaker 3: easily be under that. Yeah, they want to play if
- 25:58Speaker 3: if you want to play that style, they can line
- 25:59Speaker 3: up and do that. Because Jonathan Taylor's gonna he's gonna
- 26:03Speaker 3: give you a bunch like he's he's on his game.
- 26:05Speaker 3: He looks really awesome.
- 26:06Speaker 2: He looks aw and.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Josh Downs has his role like everybody's got a defined
- 26:11Speaker 1: role on that team.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Right now.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Pierce made some plays down the field in this game.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Downs was out and then I mean they're big, they're physical,
- 26:19Speaker 2: and Jonathan Taylor has adds the speed element to it.
- 26:22Speaker 2: It's just it is a very well coached offensive team.
- 26:25Speaker 2: The offensive line is very physical. It was It was
- 26:28Speaker 2: quite impressive watching them in person. And the other thing
- 26:29Speaker 2: I would say is if you did, if you if
- 26:31Speaker 2: you did a breakdown Baldie and that if you could
- 26:33Speaker 2: insert you think about like the halo rule for a
- 26:35Speaker 2: punt returner, right yeah, if you did. And I think
- 26:37Speaker 2: this goes to why Daniel Jones has been so accurate.
- 26:40Speaker 2: You go to him when he's getting ready to release
- 26:41Speaker 2: the ball and you just put a halo circle. Nobody there.
- 26:44Speaker 2: I mean he's started like clean pocket. Yeah, clean pocket
- 26:46Speaker 2: after clean pocket after clean pocket.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Well they they you know, protection first, so all the
- 26:52Speaker 1: chipping and everything on the outside like that, that's going
- 26:54Speaker 1: to be a big part. They did the same thing
- 26:56Speaker 1: to the rams to be able to make sure that
- 26:58Speaker 1: Daniel Jones going to be clean. So I agree with that.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I think that uh. I always said this about Quentin
- 27:09Speaker 1: Nelson and it's really implies this year. Like there was
- 27:11Speaker 1: a time when Zeke was running in Dallas and Zach
- 27:14Speaker 1: Martin was the right guard, and he used to say
- 27:16Speaker 1: that no matter where the play starts, it always ends
- 27:19Speaker 1: up Like Zach Martin, I feel like right now, like
- 27:21Speaker 1: no matter where the run starts, it finishes behind when
- 27:25Speaker 1: in the way that he's playing right now because he
- 27:27Speaker 1: you know, when he first came into this leg, he
- 27:28Speaker 1: was just you know, he was just drilling people into
- 27:31Speaker 1: the dirt. He doesn't really play that style where he's
- 27:33Speaker 1: just trying to you know, get pancake box. But he's
- 27:36Speaker 1: so good right now. Man, he's his endurances. He's running
- 27:39Speaker 1: every play. The only pool to the right with him
- 27:42Speaker 1: or to the left with him. He's so good in space.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember I don't know why I was thinking
- 27:48Speaker 2: of this. We had an old scout he used to say, uh,
- 27:50Speaker 2: you know, talking about Corner, and he's like, look, I'm
- 27:53Speaker 2: not saying it's always his fault, but he's always at
- 27:55Speaker 2: the scene of the crime, and he's got all over Yeah,
- 27:57Speaker 2: Like I'm not saying I'm not saying that. Quentin's yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 2: reason why all these things are happening, But he always
- 28:02Speaker 2: seems to be in the picture at the scene of
- 28:03Speaker 2: the crime when when things are going down.
- 28:06Speaker 1: But he's let me ask you this because I talked
- 28:08Speaker 1: to lou Anarumo a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, I mean,
- 28:10Speaker 1: first of all, he was bragging about the forest Buckner
- 28:13Speaker 1: like he had had never had a three technique like that,
- 28:15Speaker 1: and it's amazing. I don't know how many years Buck's
- 28:17Speaker 1: been going on, probably almost ten years almost, like he's
- 28:21Speaker 1: still got so much juice.
- 28:23Speaker 3: But they were really.
- 28:26Speaker 1: They're really having trouble with some run fits, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 1: and how they were doing things to really fix the
- 28:32Speaker 1: run game compared to what they were doing a year ago,
- 28:35Speaker 1: the year before that. And then I thought they had
- 28:37Speaker 1: some issues at Corner. I was curious just how because
- 28:40Speaker 1: I haven't seen the defense.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, they're there. The charge was I mean Herbert threw
- 28:44Speaker 2: for four undred yards. I mean they moved the ball
- 28:45Speaker 2: up and down the field. They had you know, Grover
- 28:48Speaker 2: Stewart pops the ball up in the ear to himself
- 28:49Speaker 2: and picks it off the end one drive. Herbert tried
- 28:52Speaker 2: to force the ball in the end zone. For picking
- 28:53Speaker 2: the end zone. So I mean that they that was.
- 28:56Speaker 2: It should have been a It should have been a
- 28:58Speaker 2: high thirties forty game for the chart offense. Ronde Gatzon
- 29:01Speaker 2: I'll get to in a minute, had a huge game.
- 29:03Speaker 2: He's got two really good games back to back.
- 29:05Speaker 3: But I want to finish.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Yes, there were two really good rookie tight ends. But
- 29:09Speaker 2: to Forest Buckner, nine pressures, two sacks, and when you
- 29:12Speaker 2: go through and watch it ball that this is my
- 29:13Speaker 2: one recommendation. I like to give you one Baldy breakdown
- 29:16Speaker 2: wreck for the week that I'd love to see you do.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Just look at the toolkit of the Forest Buckner in
- 29:21Speaker 2: those nine pressures. Because you watch some guys like I
- 29:24Speaker 2: remember we had Trevor Price when I you know he
- 29:25Speaker 2: used to be he was with him in Baltimore. He
- 29:28Speaker 2: was unbelievable. It was swim swim, swim, swim, swim skinny
- 29:32Speaker 2: like the Forest Buckner. You watch it. So he wins
- 29:34Speaker 2: on a twist, he wins on a push poll, he
- 29:36Speaker 2: wins on an inside spin, which you don't see from
- 29:38Speaker 2: interior d Lineman. Ever, he wins with a long arm.
- 29:41Speaker 2: You'll see him. He'll he'll get doubled. He'll stack two
- 29:44Speaker 2: moves together and get home like he's showing you the
- 29:47Speaker 2: whole toolkit of in his year ten for him, this
- 29:50Speaker 2: is ten years in the NFL, and he was going
- 29:52Speaker 2: I was friendly fire. He's going up against his you know,
- 29:54Speaker 2: another former duck back there and Herbert, and you know
- 29:57Speaker 2: when you know you're a big dude when you swallow
- 29:58Speaker 2: up justin Herbert when you get back there, which he
- 30:00Speaker 2: did a couple of times. But the Forest Buckner playing
- 30:03Speaker 2: at a very high level. Those guys are good. Those
- 30:05Speaker 2: two DT's him and Grover Stewart against the run are
- 30:07Speaker 2: really really good good. They can they can shut.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It down a lot. I saw a lot he got home.
- 30:12Speaker 2: He got home. I mean they got to I mean
- 30:14Speaker 2: I thought, overall, considering how many times they threw it
- 30:18Speaker 2: that the you know, the Chargers collection of backup tackles there.
- 30:21Speaker 2: You know, they hung in there as good as they
- 30:22Speaker 2: could and they threw the ball pretty well. But inside
- 30:26Speaker 2: that to me is the forest buckner. If you're getting
- 30:28Speaker 2: ready to play them like you circle him defensively, and
- 30:30Speaker 2: then the secondary they're missing some guys. Yeah, and so
- 30:33Speaker 2: there was there was There was a lot of opportunities
- 30:35Speaker 2: down the field, but they hey, do you do what
- 30:37Speaker 2: you got to do. You get turnovers and they were
- 30:39Speaker 2: able to do that yeah too, So that was that
- 30:42Speaker 2: was big there, But real quick on Gadson seven for
- 30:45Speaker 2: a Bucks sixty four. He just keeps getting better and better.
- 30:48Speaker 2: In Conklin's not even I mean I think he's that's
- 30:50Speaker 2: clearly he's he's beat him out. But you look at this,
- 30:53Speaker 2: you know, the concern for me on the Charger side
- 30:55Speaker 2: of things. Defensively, it's not like the Calvary's coming. They
- 30:57Speaker 2: got Khalil Mack back in this game. You know, he
- 31:00Speaker 2: a ton, but they'll get more of him and he'll
- 31:02Speaker 2: get healthier that that'll help them going forward. They were
- 31:04Speaker 2: missing the safety in this ball game, so you'll get
- 31:08Speaker 2: low he's gone, and I wonder, you know, a loowie
- 31:10Speaker 2: in terms of the you know, communication side of things.
- 31:13Speaker 2: That might be something they miss a little bit, but
- 31:15Speaker 2: have Elijah Molden out, he'll he'll be back. So defensively,
- 31:19Speaker 2: I don't know, there's a ton more upside. They got
- 31:21Speaker 2: to figure some things out communication wise in the back end.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Offensively there, I would be optimistic just because Joe Walt's
- 31:27Speaker 2: really close. I think there's a good chance he plays
- 31:28Speaker 2: Thursday night. That'll make a big difference for him. Then
- 31:31Speaker 2: you look at eventually down the line, you get hamped
- 31:34Speaker 2: and back, you know, the running by the Rooi running back,
- 31:36Speaker 2: who's playing great, And then you start looking at it
- 31:38Speaker 2: going Okay, Maconkey's coming around, Keenan's playing well, Quentin Johnson
- 31:41Speaker 2: was back this week, and now all of a sudden
- 31:43Speaker 2: you got this tight end and Gatston who's who's making
- 31:45Speaker 2: some plays. You could see by the end of the
- 31:47Speaker 2: year they could be really, really dynamic as the offensive
- 31:49Speaker 2: line work. In fact, yeah, they got to survive and
- 31:53Speaker 2: that's why this Thursday night game will be big for
- 31:55Speaker 2: them against Minnesota coming in there. All right, Baldi, I
- 31:59Speaker 2: didn't I think I showed you this text beforehand, and
- 32:02Speaker 2: I think I would have time this morning to get
- 32:05Speaker 2: to the Vegas case game. To offer anything to what
- 32:08Speaker 2: you've done on this I have.
- 32:12Speaker 3: It was so bad, so one sided. I figured that's
- 32:15Speaker 3: not gonna be.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, No, no it wouldn't. It's not a
- 32:17Speaker 2: high PERSI I still.
- 32:18Speaker 1: The Raiders last week, and I knew how the only
- 32:20Speaker 1: team that could have beaten last week DJ was Tennessee.
- 32:22Speaker 3: That's the only team that could have beaten.
- 32:24Speaker 2: It took me four minutes in forty four seconds to
- 32:27Speaker 2: watch every offensive snap from Vegas in this game. I
- 32:31Speaker 2: don't remember ever doing that now. I mean I rewound
- 32:33Speaker 2: a couple of plays a couple times. But if I
- 32:35Speaker 2: mean I was it was I was joking with you.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I mean they could if you were going to do
- 32:38Speaker 2: the theme of the Raiders offense, it'd be run, run sack.
- 32:41Speaker 2: I mean that was. That was That was a painful watch.
- 32:43Speaker 2: How about some numbers? Did this thing? Three first downs
- 32:45Speaker 2: over seven on third down ended up being thirty plays
- 32:48Speaker 2: when you count for penalties, thirty plays with ninety five
- 32:51Speaker 2: total yards. And I mean, I'm just I'm right down penalties,
- 32:54Speaker 2: negating first downs, drop sacks, throwing underneath the sticks on
- 32:59Speaker 2: like third and seven, third and eight, run run sack,
- 33:02Speaker 2: you're trying to run quick screen after quick screen against
- 33:04Speaker 2: maybe one of the best tackling secondaries in the NFL.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's just catching, catching tackle.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Tr mcduffey and Jayats.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I'm like, those guys don't miss tackles. So it was
- 33:13Speaker 2: faulty from a game plan standpoint, faulty from an execution standpoint.
- 33:19Speaker 2: But I mean, hey, give Kansas City credit. That Kansas
- 33:21Speaker 2: City had thirty first downs on offense and Vegas ran
- 33:25Speaker 2: thirty plays. I don't know that's ever been done before.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Well, I mean, did you ever see Rice back.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Obviously he made a difference already, but we already knew
- 33:31Speaker 1: as soon as Amy Worthy came back in that offense,
- 33:33Speaker 1: this whole thing just changed.
- 33:36Speaker 3: And now you've got Braden Smith working into the offense.
- 33:38Speaker 1: And you know, people don't want to hear that Mahomes
- 33:42Speaker 1: and Kansas City are back at four to three, but
- 33:43Speaker 1: they're back all the way back, like they're just gonna
- 33:46Speaker 1: be tough to be because they're gonna they're gonna score thirty,
- 33:48Speaker 1: Like any of the dollgrooms they had last year are gone.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Like this is a this is this offense, and you
- 33:54Speaker 1: give Andy Tinkering time at night with Mahomes, like nobody's
- 33:59Speaker 1: better drawing up new play week in week out, and
- 34:02Speaker 1: you know, but the like I'm curious, like if I
- 34:06Speaker 1: was there in this one because I saw it last week.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Like you when your offense is that bad the way
- 34:11Speaker 1: the Jets are that bad, you know you can't score.
- 34:14Speaker 1: It's just a matter of time before your defense just
- 34:16Speaker 1: starts walking on the field and off the field. I
- 34:19Speaker 1: don't care if you're Max Crosby who you are, Like,
- 34:21Speaker 1: you just know you're not scoring points. Like it just
- 34:24Speaker 1: wears everybody down.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think you also get to the point
- 34:28Speaker 2: where you're like, we have to create a turnover. We
- 34:30Speaker 2: have to do something outside of our our normal routine here.
- 34:34Speaker 2: We're not gonna win, like we got to we gotta
- 34:35Speaker 2: get points, we got to get possessions, all that stuff.
- 34:39Speaker 2: So we also have Omar Norman a lot towards ACL
- 34:41Speaker 2: so he's out for the year. That's unfortunate. He's gone
- 34:44Speaker 2: to hit some injuries. I believe in Tennessee they're kind
- 34:47Speaker 2: of going back into his history a little bit. But
- 34:49Speaker 2: that's a tough one. Let's get to the last game here.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I was in there for this one in the studio.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Bucky was at the game. I don't know. I don't
- 35:00Speaker 2: think Bucky's going to miss being here to discuss it.
- 35:03Speaker 2: The Rams thirty five to seven over there in London
- 35:05Speaker 2: over Jacksonville. Just an anemic, anemic performance from the Jags
- 35:10Speaker 2: and the Rams. Matthew Stafford, I mean, if he's not
- 35:13Speaker 2: the MVP, he's in the top three right now. I
- 35:15Speaker 2: mean he's putting together a monster season for the Rams.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Five touchdowns in this game.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Well, I mean that's without Puka, So you know, DeVante
- 35:22Speaker 1: gets the action and he you know, I mean you're
- 35:26Speaker 1: on the one yard line and DeVante's out there like
- 35:28Speaker 1: he's gonna win.
- 35:29Speaker 2: He's just gonna win.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Like there's you can't really bracket him, you can't really
- 35:31Speaker 1: double him. He's gonna win with his releases and Stafford
- 35:35Speaker 1: just I talked to DeVante about this a couple of
- 35:37Speaker 1: weeks ago, like how did you build a timing with Stafford?
- 35:41Speaker 1: And he didn't even practice in preseason, like he wasn't
- 35:44Speaker 1: out there, and uh, he said, you know, we're just veterans.
- 35:48Speaker 1: We just talked through this all this stuff, like we
- 35:49Speaker 1: know exactly what we want to do. We don't actually
- 35:52Speaker 1: have to go through it all the time.
- 35:53Speaker 3: But they have.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Amazing chemistry, you know, and you get Puka back with
- 35:59Speaker 1: that defense in that defensive front right now. They destroyed
- 36:02Speaker 1: Jacksonville in that game.
- 36:04Speaker 2: So to give you an idea of the season that
- 36:07Speaker 2: Stafford's on pace for, He's on pace for forty five
- 36:10Speaker 2: hundred and thirty two yards, forty one touchdowns, five picks.
- 36:14Speaker 2: That's the that's the pace that he's on right now.
- 36:17Speaker 1: So last year Baker threw for over forty touchdowns and
- 36:21Speaker 1: had over forty five hundred yards and he was the
- 36:23Speaker 1: tenth quarterback in NFL history to ever do that. So
- 36:27Speaker 1: you Stafford is right in that top ten category on
- 36:31Speaker 1: this page. And I don't know if it's going to
- 36:34Speaker 1: change the way that he's thrown it right now. He's
- 36:37Speaker 1: he's got two guys that he and in just the
- 36:39Speaker 1: design of offense and the way it is right now.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Like I can see him putting finishing at that pace.
- 36:44Speaker 2: The one positive on the Jacksonville standpoint, Travis Hunter has
- 36:47Speaker 2: one hundred yard game, gets his first touchdown, and I
- 36:51Speaker 2: lobbied for it in the pregame of this thing. But
- 36:54Speaker 2: you know, I think they're viewing him as a gadget guy,
- 36:58Speaker 2: you know, And so it's just been quick screens and
- 37:01Speaker 2: hetches and tunnel screens, and I'm like, this guy's more
- 37:04Speaker 2: than that. Now. This guy, when I watched him at Colorado,
- 37:06Speaker 2: reminded me of Garrett Wilson or Ohio State. Like, this
- 37:09Speaker 2: guy understands how to get out of in and out
- 37:11Speaker 2: of breaks. This guy can route guys up, and this
- 37:13Speaker 2: guy can play above the rim and win fifty to
- 37:15Speaker 2: fifty balls down the field. Like I think you're short
- 37:17Speaker 2: changing him to make him just your reverse guy and
- 37:19Speaker 2: you you know, and your quick screen guy. So of
- 37:22Speaker 2: course he gets touched on a deep seven round, a
- 37:24Speaker 2: deep corner out in this game, and he gets interfered on,
- 37:26Speaker 2: still powers through it and gets into the end zone.
- 37:28Speaker 2: He catches a they throw it like I assume it
- 37:31Speaker 2: was intended a back shoulder steamball to him, which he
- 37:34Speaker 2: adjusts to him, makes a play, he throttles down in
- 37:36Speaker 2: zone because he shows the feel and instincts and awareness
- 37:39Speaker 2: to do that. And they still tried to mix in
- 37:41Speaker 2: a couple quick quick hitters to him, which went nowhere.
- 37:43Speaker 2: But that's what I've been lobbying for. Look, if you're
- 37:45Speaker 2: going to make the commitment to say he's an offensive player,
- 37:47Speaker 2: which I know and was told in the draft process
- 37:49Speaker 2: he prefers he wants to do both, but given his choice,
- 37:52Speaker 2: he prefers to play offense. So if you're going to
- 37:55Speaker 2: major in offense and minor in defense, well, if you're
- 37:57Speaker 2: going to major in offense and I need you to
- 37:58Speaker 2: be a receiver, let's not make you a gadget. I
- 38:01Speaker 2: make you a dang receiver. And that I feel like
- 38:03Speaker 2: when they've done that this year and they've let him
- 38:05Speaker 2: get down the field, that's when he made the plays.
- 38:07Speaker 3: And and really, Brian Thomas is having a misery.
- 38:10Speaker 2: We can't catch.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I don't know what happened, Like is his confidence just
- 38:13Speaker 1: shot because he put up ten touchdowns? But he was
- 38:16Speaker 1: the guy last year and now he's had one drop
- 38:19Speaker 1: after another all year long.
- 38:21Speaker 2: I think he had over twelve hundred yards and ten
- 38:22Speaker 2: touchdowns last year. Yeah, and I'm watching him and I'm like,
- 38:26Speaker 2: he has zero confidence. And I feel bad for I mean,
- 38:28Speaker 2: because Trevor's gonna get nicked because of you know he
- 38:31Speaker 2: has He's got a little bit of the disease of
- 38:34Speaker 2: his misses or bad misses, like you know, you know,
- 38:37Speaker 2: you know it's a guy in accurate MISSI yeah, just
- 38:40Speaker 2: it just takes off and sales it. You know who
- 38:42Speaker 2: it reminds me of just from it. When Lamar Jackson
- 38:44Speaker 2: was coming out, it was hard to get over like
- 38:46Speaker 2: the misses because you're like, man, I see these amazing plays,
- 38:48Speaker 2: but man, some of the misses are so bad.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Would you think it's mechanics? Like is his feet set?
- 38:52Speaker 3: Is he finally threw.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Like balls taken off on him? I just don't think.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I think, honestly more than in a mechanical issue because
- 38:59Speaker 2: I didn't see and jumped out to me. From that standpoint,
- 39:01Speaker 2: I think it's just a guy's confidence is not is
- 39:03Speaker 2: nowhere to be found, okay, and there's no conviction. You
- 39:06Speaker 2: always talk about like you want to throw with conviction,
- 39:08Speaker 2: trust it and rip it. And I just kind of
- 39:10Speaker 2: unsure what he's doing. And then the other part of
- 39:12Speaker 2: it is there's freaking four or five drops every game,
- 39:15Speaker 2: and you add those into the mix, not only do
- 39:18Speaker 2: your stats improve, I think his confidence comes along with that.
- 39:21Speaker 1: No question, because they could have won a couple of
- 39:22Speaker 1: games this year if they if they just caught the ball.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I know, Buck, he's talked about it a bunch, you know,
- 39:27Speaker 1: but it's uh, he he doesn't have the best group around,
- 39:30Speaker 1: but what he does, miss though.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I had ten foot sale jobs, you know. And you're like,
- 39:35Speaker 2: what the heck happened here? Now it was rainy. It
- 39:38Speaker 2: looked it was rainy there and a little wet, so
- 39:40Speaker 2: maybe that's maybe that's part of it.
- 39:41Speaker 3: But I mean they've played that stuff before.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Yeah they got I mean, and they were one of
- 39:47Speaker 2: those teams. It was four and two coming into that game,
- 39:50Speaker 2: I believe. And you're like, what do you think about him?
- 39:52Speaker 3: I'm just curious. I just had anything to do with
- 39:54Speaker 3: the game, or maybe it did.
- 39:56Speaker 1: But the way the rams said, you know what, We're
- 39:58Speaker 1: just we're just gonna leave on We'll get there on Saturday,
- 40:02Speaker 1: we'll walk through, give the guys off and moves, go
- 40:04Speaker 1: play the game like you like you're going down to
- 40:06Speaker 1: San like you're going to San Francisco to play, you know,
- 40:09Speaker 1: like they took that approach. It's kind of and the
- 40:11Speaker 1: players were like, we just trust, you know, we just
- 40:14Speaker 1: trusted the science is what it's good. And evidently they
- 40:18Speaker 1: started so fast in the game that you know, maybe
- 40:22Speaker 1: that changes the approach of a lot of teams going
- 40:24Speaker 1: over there.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Yeah, they stayed in Baltimore, so my same game. So
- 40:27Speaker 2: coming from the West coast, they got on that time zone,
- 40:29Speaker 2: just stayed on that time zone for the week, because
- 40:31Speaker 2: that's a long haul from the West Coast to get
- 40:32Speaker 2: over there. When I when to I.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Think it was Anthony Trained Camden Yards.
- 40:37Speaker 2: They were at Camden Yards. Yeah, I saw some video
- 40:39Speaker 2: of Stafford out there with a glove throwing the baseball
- 40:42Speaker 2: around a little bit. But uh, the Chargers when this
- 40:45Speaker 2: is going back to Anthony Lynn years. I believe when
- 40:48Speaker 2: I was this was like eighteen maybe. Uh, they played
- 40:52Speaker 2: the Titans over there, and they had played Cleveland the
- 40:53Speaker 2: week before, so they had stayed in Cleveland, right, and
- 40:56Speaker 2: just stayed on that East Coast time and then went
- 40:57Speaker 2: from Cleveland over to London and beat Thet's over there.
- 41:00Speaker 2: So everybody has different theories on it. But you know,
- 41:04Speaker 2: you know who's you know who's crushed by this whole development.
- 41:06Speaker 2: It's money by our buddy. So Matt Muney Smith, who's
- 41:09Speaker 2: played by play with the Chargers, he's like, oh no, man,
- 41:12Speaker 2: He's like, you know, he likes getting over these international cities.
- 41:15Speaker 2: He likes exploring he likes being able.
- 41:17Speaker 3: To take a sight see.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he doesn't like this idea of just jetting in

- 41:48Speaker 1: like they staggered the games, so I had one game
- 41:50Speaker 1: on one screen and the other game on the other screen.
- 41:52Speaker 1: It was actually, you know, it was actually kind of
- 41:54Speaker 1: fun to sit there and watch both games at the
- 41:56Speaker 1: same time.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Like they're staggering tonight.
- 41:58Speaker 1: So one fin this is one starts like that's a
- 42:01Speaker 1: little late when we start as early as we're starting,
- 42:04Speaker 1: So I don't think I'm gonna finish.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Yeah, the second game, it's too much.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I just think one game is enough.
- 42:09Speaker 2: I'm a one game guy. Man. I I don't I
- 42:12Speaker 2: love I love football. It's hard to say it's too much.
- 42:14Speaker 2: But it's like just like having the standalone one game.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Man. Yeah, I know, but you got two good games tonight,
- 42:19Speaker 1: so yeah, we'll see like if one, you know, if
- 42:21Speaker 1: one's no good, maybe you'll stay up and watch the
- 42:23Speaker 1: second one.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we got that plus a big game seven in
- 42:25Speaker 2: baseball too, keep an eye on. Yeah, all right, Baldy

- 42:42Speaker 2: the rookie draft unfortunately, so we'll hear about that all
- 42:45Speaker 2: tomorrow when he joins the show, and we have our
- 42:47Speaker 2: rookie draft for this upcoming week as well. And his
