- 0:07Welcome to another edition of the Predators Official Podcast
- 0:11here on ESPN1O25, The Game and Preds YouTube.
- 0:16Excited to be back with you all for another episode.
- 0:19I'm Brooks Bratton of Nashville, predators.com, joined by my
- 0:23friends Kara Hammer of Preds TV and Max Hers from Predators
- 0:27Radio. Max and I are with the team in
- 0:30Montreal. Kara is elsewhere in North
- 0:33America, but we're all together here in spirit to talk to you
- 0:38about the Nashville Predators in Week 1 of the season is
- 0:42underway. We're four games in the Preds in
- 0:44the midst of an Eastern Canada road trip.
- 0:47UC Soros is playing out of his mind.
- 0:49We'll touch more on juice as we go along.
- 0:52The Preds are feeling connected as well as we hit the road for
- 0:55the first time. And we'll give you a little bit
- 0:57of insight into what it's like to be on the road with the
- 1:00Nashville Predators. Also, the biggie, Awesome person
- 1:04of the week and a couple of questions and tidbits to get to
- 1:07later on in the show, But Max and Cara, 21 and one are the
- 1:12Nashville Predators thus far. 5 hole points.
- 1:16It took them a lot longer last year to get to 5 points, so we
- 1:20are certainly thankful for that. And not too shabby of a start
- 1:23here overall, guys. Yeah, 21 and 1 is a whole lot
- 1:28better than O4 and O, which is what the Predators were through
- 1:31four games last season. Brooks and playing on Tuesday
- 1:34night, they actually had a chance to match the second best
- 1:37four-game start in franchise history if they had beaten the
- 1:40Maple Leafs. They didn't.
- 1:42First regulation loss of the season after two wins in an
- 1:45overtime loss to start the year. But you can tell with the team
- 1:49everything is in a better place this year.
- 1:52There are no expectations on them.
- 1:53That has allowed them to go out and just play better at the
- 1:57start of the year after everything that could go wrong
- 1:59at the start of last season did. I think a lot of things have
- 2:02gone right this year and they have not played perfect hockey
- 2:05by any means. I think you could actually make
- 2:08the case that the two losses may have been the games where the
- 2:10Preds played the best opening night might have something to
- 2:13say about that. But I think Saturday was
- 2:16definitely their best game. The overtime loss against the
- 2:18Mammoth Toronto, they played well enough to win in a lot of
- 2:21regards of that game and ended up giving up seven goals,
- 2:25including two empty netters to a good team.
- 2:27So that's how hockey goes, especially at the start of the
- 2:29season. But I I think the record is
- 2:32pretty fair in terms of judging the way the Preds have played so
- 2:35far. Kara.
- 2:36I would agree with that, Max. I think, you know, I know nobody
- 2:39wants to talk about last season. It's been evident.
- 2:42No talk about last season. But one thing that has stood out
- 2:45to start this season, going back to last season is used to see
- 2:49the Preds give up a goal and you kind of would see the entire
- 2:52bench deflate. It was almost like, OK, we've
- 2:56given up a goal. What happens now?
- 2:58It was it was just like what they've said that Groundhog Day,
- 3:01that expectation, that expectation that the same thing
- 3:04was going to happen over and over.
- 3:06But you look at how they've played to start this season,
- 3:09specifically last night in that Toronto game, they give up a few
- 3:13fluky goals. They find themselves, you know,
- 3:16falling behind. But then you see Michael
- 3:17McCarron still in front of the net, getting gritty, still
- 3:20trying to play it with only two minutes left in the game.
- 3:23They were still battling. And Brooks, I, I, I think you've
- 3:26seen it. It's almost like there's more of
- 3:28a will to win now. No, there is that.
- 3:31That's a good point. Kara and Andrew Burnett
- 3:33mentioned as much after the game on Tuesday night in Toronto that
- 3:37he was really proud that the Preds didn't give up.
- 3:39It was one of those games where, you know, they did tie the game
- 3:42in the second period, two goals in a span of 44 seconds.
- 3:46But Toronto was up five to two midway through the third period
- 3:50all of a sudden and the Preds could have said, all right,
- 3:51whatever, second-half of a back-to-back a good Toronto
- 3:55team, let's forget about it and move on to Montreal.
- 3:58They scored two more goals down the stretch.
- 4:00They didn't give up. And yeah, Toronto tacked on 2
- 4:02empty netters. And you know, you don't want to
- 4:04sit here and make excuses and look at it and say, oh, well,
- 4:07they really only scored five goals.
- 4:08But that's, that's kind of how you look at it in a way.
- 4:11Michael McCarron mentioned that we'll get to his audio in a
- 4:13moment, but saying yeah, the score was kind of wonky because
- 4:17of the empty netters, because of the way things played out.
- 4:19It was back and forth. Toronto's a really good team.
- 4:23We know that they're going to win a lot of games this year.
- 4:26And for the Predators that you mentioned at Max too, like I
- 4:30think maybe you could argue that their two best games of the
- 4:32season so far are the 2 losses. And, and that's just the funny
- 4:37way that hockey goes about it. But I think as we sit here and
- 4:41record this on Wednesday morning, October the 15th,
- 4:44there's a lot to like in Nashville's game.
- 4:48And it hasn't been perfect and it never is in the early going.
- 4:51You're never going to expect to be shelling out perfect efforts
- 4:55this early in the season. But yeah, compared to this time
- 4:59last year. And again, they're not talking
- 5:01about it, but we will just to the the dynamic shift that we've
- 5:05seen. I think early on, it was so huge
- 5:07to get that first win on opening night.
- 5:10What that just does for the psyche and the confidence in the
- 5:13room. And I liked one more thing that
- 5:15Andrew Burnett said yesterday morning is that when guys come
- 5:19back to the bench and they're feeling good about themselves
- 5:22and they're talking and there's communication and there's
- 5:24encouragement with one another, like that's contagious.
- 5:28And it we've talked about the Hall of Martial Soap, bunting
- 5:31line, the loud line, the guys that talk, no matter who's in
- 5:34front of them, they're going to say something.
- 5:36But when you have that element as well, I think too, as
- 5:41Brunette mentioned, it's contagious.
- 5:43And it's I think it's been really evident for the Predators
- 5:46already just threw four games. You know, a classic example the
- 5:50the times last year when things wouldn't go well and you said it
- 5:53care, they would deflate and have not seen that at all so far
- 5:57this season. And there's a lot to like, I
- 6:00think, in Nashville's game right now, and they're really going.
- 6:04Brooks That's one thing that Brady Martin talked about after
- 6:07his debut. He said what he learned on the
- 6:10bench was that when he's not playing, he's learning, Hey, I I
- 6:16still need to stick up for my teammates.
- 6:18I need to be cheering. I need to be talking.
- 6:20I am learning how to be a good teammate when I'm not in the
- 6:23game. And he said that's just learning
- 6:25how to also be a role player, and he's developing that from
- 6:28some of the veterans. Absolutely.
- 6:33And and that's just something that you know, as an 18 year
- 6:36old, you come in and you're going to learn and that's a
- 6:39really good lesson. And we'll talk more about Brady
- 6:42as as the show goes on. But just one of those things
- 6:45that again, it's it's just a different vibe, a different
- 6:48energy around the group right now.
- 6:50And, and it's really great to see.
- 6:51So again, as we record this Wednesday morning, coming off
- 6:54for the loss on Tuesday night in Toronto, the Predators, they
- 6:57played pretty well. And you know, again, the score I
- 7:00don't think is indicative of what we actually saw on the ice.
- 7:05Roman Yosi scored his first goal since January 21st after he
- 7:09returns from the Potts diagnosis and his back healthy this
- 7:13season. Nick Perbix his first two points
- 7:16as a member of the Preds including his first goal late in
- 7:18the game. He's been awesome by the way.
- 7:20Nick Perbix has alongside Brady Shea and Ozzy Weisblatt his
- 7:24first game of the season. Had a couple of assists and
- 7:27including a beautiful dish to Eric Holla for Nashville second
- 7:31goal. And here's what Michael McCarron
- 7:34had to say about a high scoring game that didn't go Nashville's
- 7:37way. But there was certainly still
- 7:39plenty to like and Nashville's effort probably gave up a little
- 7:45bit more than we wanted to. I think they had a couple of
- 7:47really good bounces like their first goal just to seeing IPOC
- 7:51another one great defensive play by Shazy and it bounces right
- 7:54back to their guy for an open net.
- 7:56Couple weird bounces for them, but in saying that, we maybe
- 8:02shot ourselves in the foot a little bit.
- 8:04We we gave up too many, too many chances against from the same
- 8:08time. We scored four goals.
- 8:11Could be Ki mean, Hey, you're going to you're going to run
- 8:13into some good teams here. And I thought we played well for
- 8:17the most part. We stuck to our game plan, but
- 8:20we played a solid, solid game there.
- 8:21Like I just said, there was a couple breakdowns that obviously
- 8:24you would want back, but still early in the year.
- 8:26We're learning and we can take a lot from this game positively
- 8:30early in the year, You know, Herbs was just saying it's
- 8:32making one of those where maybe, you know, maybe a couple empty
- 8:36netters, the score might look a little wonky.
- 8:38Well, yeah, of course the score looks wonky with two empty
- 8:40netters. I think we were very much so in
- 8:43that game, the whole game. It was a tough game.
- 8:45They played well, We played well.
- 8:46I thought, like I just said, we stuck to our game plan.
- 8:48We put pucks in, we had good four checks.
- 8:51We had a lot of really good Ozone time.
- 8:53I think we can find a way to get a little bit more inside.
- 8:56We had some inside goals tonight, but if we can find find
- 8:59a way to get a little bit more inside consistently and more
- 9:02shots at the net, maybe not looking for that perfect play.
- 9:04I think our game's in a really good spot.
- 9:07We just continue to to roll line after line.
- 9:09And yeah, it's just one of those games where you don't come up
- 9:13with the two points, but you can take a lot away from.
- 9:15The game that that was good. Yeah, I'm with Mccarran on this
- 9:19one. Brooks, they got this to a two
- 9:20goal deficit with four minutes to go on Yosi's goal.
- 9:24You get used to signing out of the game.
- 9:26You get the net empty, you have the puck on your caps and stick
- 9:30and he fumbles it. Easy empty netter from there.
- 9:32And look, if you get set up in the zone, you got 3 minutes to
- 9:35try and get one and try and get another.
- 9:38I think that game was within grasp.
- 9:42Let's talk about Ozzy Wiseblatt. In that Toronto game he came
- 9:45out, he was like a one man wrecking crew.
- 9:48I actually watched part of this game of listening to the Toronto
- 9:52broadcast and they kept talking about Wise Black questioning who
- 9:56is this young kid? What skill is he bringing?
- 9:58But it looked like he was bringing the skill of a player
- 10:01who was vying for a spot to get back in the lineup.
- 10:06This keeps happening every time Ozzy Wasblatt plays in the NHL.
- 10:10He's played six NHL games. Only two of them have been
- 10:15consecutive, which were his first two.
- 10:17Other than that, it's been all one off call UPS or in the
- 10:21lineup, including last night, and we'll see if that changes
- 10:24Thursday in Montreal if he plays again.
- 10:26But every time he comes in, he is trying to make the cut.
- 10:30He is flying around, he is launching himself into guys.
- 10:34He is making huge hits. He is flipping the game on his
- 10:37head. He's starting scrums before his
- 10:39shift even begins. Last night.
- 10:41He did all those things on Tuesday and he had two assists,
- 10:45including one which Brooks said was a really nice primary assist
- 10:48on a really nice goal. Yeah, there's a reason he made
- 10:51the team out of camp and again was a healthy scratch for the
- 10:55first few he gets in in Toronto. And I asked Andrew Brunette post
- 10:59came about him says maybe a little bit rusty at first, which
- 11:01is to be expected. He hasn't played a real game in
- 11:04a very long time. But once the second period going
- 11:08hard in on the forecheck, that beautiful dish to Eric Holla.
- 11:11And then he starts throwing his weight around and gets in the
- 11:13middle of things, bringing the energy that you want to see the
- 11:16reason he is in the lineup, what he does bring to this group.
- 11:20And you saw it first hand for Ozzie Weisblood to take a
- 11:24penalty as well. But that's, you know, that's a
- 11:27line you're going to walk for a player like that.
- 11:29Well, we we also Brooks talking on the radio during the game how
- 11:33Gill was pretty adamant that he did not think that was a
- 11:37penalty. There you go, the skills, He
- 11:40says it then. Look, I mean, Easton Cowan made
- 11:43himself white as a feather and went flying into the post and he
- 11:47did it. But I guess being off the puck,
- 11:51you can call that interference. But look, nothing's going to
- 11:54stop Ozzy. You know, he did that in the
- 11:56preseason game he played, too. He might take a penalty, but the
- 12:00things he does seem to cancel it out in the eyes of the coaching
- 12:04staff. Yeah.
- 12:05And, and for guys like that, you want to kill their penalties.
- 12:08If they're out there giving you energy and giving you boosts, I
- 12:11think those are instances where you're like, all right, we'll
- 12:15kill the penalty, we'll figure it out, and then we'll go from
- 12:17there. So really great to see Ozzy
- 12:19Wiseblatt back in there. Of course we talked to you after
- 12:21the victory on opening night, but A21 win against Columbus,
- 12:24A32 overtime loss to Utah on Saturday, but then starting the
- 12:28road trip in Ottawa Monday afternoon, a four one victory, a
- 12:32couple of goals from Jonathan Marshall.
- 12:34Ryan O'Reilly scored what proved to be the game winner on a pass
- 12:37he was not expecting to receive from Stephen Stamkos.
- 12:40I don't think anybody in the building was thinking that
- 12:43Stamkos was going to pass it back.
- 12:45Muse Cyrus makes 31 saves, but here's a clip from O'Reilly
- 12:49talking to Lindsay Rally in the post game about what he saw on
- 12:53Monday afternoon in Ottawa. Thanks.
- 12:57Willie Ryan got the goal off the pass from Stephen Stamkos.
- 12:59I think everyone in this building thought Stamkos was
- 13:01going to shoot. What did you see on that play?
- 13:03Yeah, I did too. You know, obviously Phil makes a
- 13:06really nice play. Obviously wins that battle at
- 13:07the at the red there slides over the stammer and I think I just
- 13:10got a following up hoping there, you know, there might be a
- 13:13rebound there. And luck for me just came to me
- 13:15just whacked and got lucky went in.
- 13:16But that was obviously a huge goal for us to kind of, you
- 13:19know, give us that conference going in the last little bit.
- 13:21But All in all, it's a great win.
- 13:22It's big two points for us coming out their their home
- 13:24opener. So it was a huge one for us.
- 13:27Jonathan Marshasow has two goals tonight.
- 13:29That line has had three goals in three games plus the empty net
- 13:31goal. What what have you thought
- 13:32watching them? Gosh, they've been awesome for
- 13:35us. You know, not just, you know,
- 13:36getting the big goals like that, but we're just they're hard,
- 13:38hard line to play against. You know, all the guys out there
- 13:40that way, how they work, they for check, they hound.
- 13:42It's just impressive. It's nice to see them get
- 13:44rewarded for it. But obviously very effective
- 13:45line. You knew this road trip was
- 13:47going to be a big challenge. How does this win to kick it off
- 13:49sort of impact the attitude moving forward?
- 13:52Yeah, it should should give us confidence.
- 13:54You know, I think, you know, we didn't give up a lot and when we
- 13:57did and there's little breakdowns, we kind of stuck
- 13:58with it. You know, everyone kept working,
- 13:59staying together. And it's a good lesson for us,
- 14:01you know, you know, we want to play a good tough Rd. game and
- 14:03be hard to play against. So we got to just keep building
- 14:05on this. We got a tough challenge
- 14:06tomorrow, but we're looking forward to it.
- 14:08Thanks, Ryan. Anytime.
- 14:08Thank you. So you hear from O'Reilly there
- 14:16again. We we've talked about a lot to
- 14:19like in Nashville's game and you saw elements of that on Monday
- 14:22afternoon as well. And great to see Jonathan
- 14:25Marshall still get a couple on the score sheet there.
- 14:28A pair of empty netters for the Predators.
- 14:29And what a start to the season as well for Ryan O'Reilly, who
- 14:33ends up getting that game-winning goal.
- 14:35And I, I, we were kind of laughing about it in the press
- 14:38box. Again, I don't think anybody
- 14:40expected that Steven Samco's pass, but he found Ryan O'Reilly
- 14:44and it worked out. Yeah, I think he fooled
- 14:46everybody in the entire building.
- 14:47But Brooks that game and that was an early start game.
- 14:51And, you know, one of our favorite lines, of course, going
- 14:53back to to Peter Lava, Peter Laviolette was wake up, eat your
- 14:57eggs and punch somebody. And I think Roman Yossi had that
- 15:00in the back of his mind because it's a it's I've seen it all
- 15:03over my social media was evident in the game.
- 15:05But it looked like Yossi and Brady could Chuck had a little
- 15:09bit of history going on. Any word of what the chirping
- 15:13was? I know there's a clip out of of
- 15:15of Brady chirpy McCarron back on the bench, but it seemed kind of
- 15:18feisty. It was, yeah, it was chippy from
- 15:23the start. I mean that that hit Roman was
- 15:25penalized for that hit on Brady Kachuk there.
- 15:28Kachuk, you know, as again as we record this at the timing on
- 15:33Wednesday, sounds like he's injured from that hit, which you
- 15:37never want to see that. But yeah, definitely it got
- 15:40things going early on in the game there.
- 15:41And there were there were some some scrums for sure and some
- 15:45back and forth. And I think especially in an
- 15:48early game like that, you know, that gets everybody involved
- 15:53when you're maybe you're not that you're not awake, but it's,
- 15:56it's early. You might be a little bit
- 15:58sluggish start of a road trip, but boy, that sure gets
- 16:01everybody going on the bench when, when the 2 captains are
- 16:04involved like that. And again, that's, that's not a
- 16:07bad thing. And, and it was a good effort in
- 16:09Ottawa, but again, highlighted by UC Soros making 31 saves.
- 16:14I loved Willy's call, especially on that save with about 5
- 16:17minutes left in regulation, Soros diving to his left, a
- 16:20beautiful glove save and you get the call from Willie the Golden
- 16:24Glove. I thought that was that was
- 16:26fantastic. But what a what an impressive
- 16:28performance from UC Soros as well there.
- 16:31I thought this was a a really gritty Rd. win for the Preds and
- 16:34from a neutral perspective this was not an entertaining game.
- 16:37This was a three hour long NHL game.
- 16:40Every face off took 10 friggin minutes to drop.
- 16:43Please drop the puck faster. Oh my God.
- 16:45We were at the point where Sen's fans were booing after a Preds
- 16:49player got kicked out of the face off.
- 16:51That's how bad it was. But the Preds found a way to win
- 16:54it. And if you're the road team in
- 16:56this game, you just ride that grind.
- 16:58And the Preds did what they had to.
- 17:00They led 1 nothing for long enough.
- 17:02They went down 1 nothing. They challenged it, They won the
- 17:05challenge, LED 1 nothing. Doubled it to two.
- 17:08Thought UC Soros was going to get that shut out.
- 17:10He ends up giving up a six on four goal.
- 17:13But two empty netters for the Preds.
- 17:14They survive it at the end. Two goals for Jonathan Marshall.
- 17:17So his third multi goal game as a Pred he led the way was one of
- 17:22his better games with the Preds and now a season and a week.
- 17:26You love when you can use the adjectives gritty and greasy on
- 17:30your first Rd. win of the season, and that's exactly what
- 17:33that was, gritty and greasy. You just grind it out and you
- 17:37find a way to get it done. Kara.
- 17:38Yeah, and going back to what Max says, a lot of things took a lot
- 17:42of time in that game, especially the sense had a a goal over
- 17:46called Ryan O'Reilly was questioned afterwards.
- 17:49Hey, did they take too long looking at that play?
- 17:52So I don't know, Brooks, we might see Max here at the NHL
- 17:55meetings next next year pitching a a pitch clock for a for a face
- 18:00off clock. How long does it take to drop
- 18:02the puck? Yeah, it was, it was tough.
- 18:06We were through 2 periods in two hours that I I don't really
- 18:10recall the last time a regular season game.
- 18:13We were moving along that slowly, but they got it done and
- 18:17Toronto was much quicker. That was that was an average
- 18:21amount of time despite, despite the fact that there were how
- 18:24many combined goals, 11, Yeah, like we had a lot going on in
- 18:27the Toronto game too and still got it done.
- 18:29So kudos to the referees and lines persons on Tuesday night
- 18:33in Toronto. You don't get kudos for being
- 18:37acceptable. Come on.
- 18:40Maybe a little Max has way. Thanksgiving hangover?
- 18:42We don't know. Yeah, Max has way less tolerance
- 18:46for the officials than I do, but that's OK.
- 18:49So guys, as we've mentioned, we're four games in the opening
- 18:54week of the season, as I suppose unofficially concluded.
- 18:58But what do you think about what we've seen?
- 19:01I mean, the the buzzword being connected has been used a lot by
- 19:05players, by coaches. The Preds feel like they're
- 19:08playing connected. They're on the same page,
- 19:10They're all paddled in the same way.
- 19:13But Max and Cara, what have stuck out to you guys over the
- 19:16last little bit here? What what's been impressive
- 19:18about Nashville's effort as they sit 21 and 1 here through four
- 19:21games? I'll start in for me, it just
- 19:24has to be UC Soros. I mean you, you look at how is a
- 19:28team going to win? How is a team going to win down
- 19:30the stretch? It starts with your net minder.
- 19:32And I think UC Soros has been playing lights out.
- 19:36I think the guys are playing better in front of him.
- 19:38I think he's kept them in in in games to this point.
- 19:42I think he's going to continue to do that.
- 19:43I think when the season started he looked like he came out in
- 19:46mid season form. So for me the highlight is is UC
- 19:50Sorrows Max. I think we're all in agreement
- 19:54that that he's had a stellar start, but what else stands out
- 19:57for you? I think just looking at the
- 20:00lineup, it's been the middle groups that have gotten it done
- 20:03for the Preds and I'm going to shout out to guys who are new to
- 20:06the Preds this season. 1 of them was here before.
- 20:09But he's back after a four year absence.
- 20:12I think Eric Holla and Nick Purbeck's have been massive
- 20:15under the radar Difference makers and reasons why the Preds
- 20:19have five points in their first three games.
- 20:22I think without those guys the Preds record is totally
- 20:24different. Holla has a point in all four
- 20:27games. He's done a massive job in all
- 20:30facets as the third line center in between Jonathan Marshall so
- 20:33and Michael Bunting and he's allowed those guys to play their
- 20:36best and that's been the Predators best line this season.
- 20:39They've played their role, they've scored goals, they've
- 20:42dictated possession time, they've played in the offensive
- 20:44zone, they've had D zone starts. They've done everything well and
- 20:49I think Holla has been the key and the stabilizer with Bunting
- 20:53getting his first real chance at establishing himself as a Pred
- 20:57after a tough time to come into late last year.
- 21:00Trade deadline edition onto a team that had nothing to play
- 21:02for. And I think Bunting has shown
- 21:04his worth already through the 1st week of this season.
- 21:07And on the back end, I think Nick Perfect has been
- 21:09exceptional and we've seen Brady Shay through the 1st week play
- 21:15maybe four games that were the would have been his four best
- 21:17games of last year. And that's to me because of a
- 21:20stable partner who Brady Shea told us reminds him of Brett
- 21:24Pesci, who was his partner for other Hurricanes for Four
- 21:27Seasons when Shea was playing his best hockey, the hockey that
- 21:30earned him the big contract with the Preds.
- 21:33And I think Perfects has made it so easy for Shea to play his
- 21:36best game, and it's resulted in Perbex play in some big minutes
- 21:40as well. Those guys have closed out the
- 21:42wins. They've killed a ton of
- 21:43penalties. And Perbex feels like he's
- 21:46played half the minutes of some of these games, almost Roman
- 21:49Yossi level, and he's doing really well.
- 21:51So I think the middle of this Preds group has been great.
- 21:55I'd like to see a little bit more from the top end forwards
- 21:58and maybe more than a little bit more.
- 22:00But it's a tough situation too when you have rotating spots on
- 22:03those lines. So that's something that needs
- 22:05to get figured out. But they've won these tight, low
- 22:07scores, scoring games with their reliable veteran players playing
- 22:11their roles and UC Soros being great.
- 22:13That's what stood out to me. Yeah, I could not agree more
- 22:16with you guys and Max, especially on Nick Purvis.
- 22:18I love a player like Nick Purvis because it's almost as if when
- 22:22you don't notice him, that's a good thing.
- 22:25That means he's doing his job and you're not going to notice
- 22:28him every shift. If you go to a game and you
- 22:30really watch him, you'll see those fine little nuances of why
- 22:34he's able to be successful in his in his own end and allow a
- 22:38guy like Brady Shea to maybe jump up in the rush a little bit
- 22:41more, have a little bit more offensive freedom.
- 22:43But yeah, I I love a player like Nick perfect because if he's
- 22:46doing his job, you're probably not going to notice him.
- 22:49And that's a good thing. And he's been excellent unless
- 22:51he's putting the puck in the net like he did in Toronto, which
- 22:53he's certainly capable of doing that as well.
- 22:56I wanted to touch on, and you mentioned Max, the kind of the
- 22:59back and forth between some of the forward lines.
- 23:01We saw Ozzie, Wise, Black get in there for the first time.
- 23:04We've seen Joachim Kimmel in a couple times.
- 23:06Of course, Luke Evangelista is back in the lineup.
- 23:09It was Tyson Jost on Tuesday that actually started on the
- 23:12line with Philip Forsberg and Ryan O'Reilly and the second
- 23:16straight scratch for Brady Martin, the rookie after getting
- 23:19in to two games in Nashville. And both Andrew Brunette and
- 23:24Barry Trotz over the past couple of days have been asked about
- 23:27it. They've just simply said that
- 23:29this is the plan for Martin. They do have a plan in place for
- 23:31him him to help his development and in the best sort of way that
- 23:35they feel is right for an 18 year old kid and Andrew Brunette
- 23:40saying after Tuesday's game, they want to put him in
- 23:43positions to feel comfortable to get better.
- 23:46There's a continued opportunity to keep learning from veteran
- 23:49guys and practice and you'll see where it goes.
- 23:52They've been very complimentary of Martin, how he's handled
- 23:55every step so far, and they just want to see him continue growing
- 23:58as a player. So I know a lot of people
- 24:00weren't thrilled with the fact that he wasn't in the lineup in
- 24:03Toronto, sort of about as closest to his hometown you can
- 24:07get can get had some family and friends in the lineup.
- 24:11But you know, the Predators are trying to win hockey games or
- 24:13they're putting the best in the line, but they feel gives them
- 24:16the best chance to win. If that includes Brady Martin,
- 24:20great. If it doesn't at this point in
- 24:21time, again, they have a plan. They're not just throwing darts
- 24:25at the board and trying to figure out, all right, who's
- 24:27going in and who's going out. So four games in, Martin's
- 24:30played two. We know that he can go up to
- 24:33playing nine games. And we'll get to that question
- 24:35later in the show. I don't want to hit too hard on
- 24:37that right now. But yeah, for Brady Martin, it
- 24:40is what it is. I I imagine they told him coming
- 24:42in that, hey, you're probably not going to play every game
- 24:45right away, that the Predators did the same thing with Sam
- 24:48Gerard, the defenseman back in 2017.
- 24:51They only, he only played five games with Nashville that season
- 24:56to start before he was ultimately part of the trade
- 24:58that brought Kyle tourists to Nashville.
- 25:01But at that point in time, he was in the lineup a couple
- 25:04times. He was out of the lineup for
- 25:05multiple games. So that's a situation right now
- 25:08with Brady Martin and we'll see how things move forward there as
- 25:12we go along. So again, A2 one and one record
- 25:15through four games for the Nashville Predators and not too
- 25:20shabby at the start here guys. Again, I I think a lot to like
- 25:23and Andy Brunette said it last night, there's a ladder and the
- 25:27game, their game is just getting going.
- 25:29We're only four games and there's 78 more to go, he said.
- 25:32We can be better and we will be better.
- 25:35Looking forward to seeing how that plays out over the next
- 25:37little bit here. Yeah, the goal coming in, in my
- 25:41head, this is now the team is talking, but it's a tough road
- 25:44trip, four games in six days. Andrew Brunette was quick to
- 25:47point out these are all playoff teams from last year and I think
- 25:52the Canadians may be the best team of the four, which is the
- 25:55next opponent on Thursday night. They could be electric this year
- 25:59if you come out of this road trip with at least four out of a
- 26:02possible eight points and either A2 and two record, or at this
- 26:06point 11 and two with two overtime losses.
- 26:11To me, splitting the road trip was the goal.
- 26:13Then you get back home, you have three points banked in the home
- 26:17stand to start the season, and from there you stay above water
- 26:21and then some. And every point matters for
- 26:24these preds. Every game is under a magnifying
- 26:26glass and I think they've handled it well.
- 26:29I really think they have. So props to the team for going
- 26:32about this the right way. I think there are a lot of
- 26:34scenarios where we're talking about not this good of a record
- 26:38right now. So I think the team is
- 26:40truthfully in a good place and I'm happy with the way they've
- 26:44played so far and I see potential for better of course
- 26:46as well. And we could definitely see
- 26:49potential for better on the power play.
- 26:51So we don't want to forget the elephant in the room.
- 26:54But special teams definitely they've they've been excellent
- 26:58on the penalty kill. We've we've seen that be great.
- 27:00But I think we all know collectively the man advantage
- 27:04could be better. Well the the PK has been amazing
- 27:09right off the drop this year. Same as last season, which is
- 27:12pretty incredible this year so far. 19 minutes and 2 seconds of
- 27:18four on five time killed without allowing a goal.
- 27:21The only power play goal against the Preds was with the sentence,
- 27:24pulling their goalie in six on four.
- 27:27Not too shabby. Yeah, Kerry, you mentioned that
- 27:29the power play, they need to get it going and they know that
- 27:31they'll continue to work on it. The penalty kills been excellent
- 27:34so far, and so has the play of goaltender UC Soros.
- 27:38And we will touch more on #74IN gold when we come back.
- 27:42You were listening to the Predators official podcast on
- 27:44ESPN1O25, The Game and YouTube. Welcome back to the Predators
- 27:49Official Podcast on ESPN1O25, The game, Nashville Predators
- 27:53YouTube, and your favorite podcast platform.
- 27:57My name is Max Herz from Predators Radio, joined by Cara
- 28:00Hammer from Predators TV and Brooks Bratton from
- 28:03nashvillepredators.com. The Preds are in Montreal as we
- 28:07record here on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025.
- 28:11Halfway through four games in Canada in six days and four
- 28:15games into the season with two wins, one regulation loss and
- 28:20one overtime loss so far those first three games of the season.
- 28:24The three-game point streak to start the year for the Preds,
- 28:27all with the franchise and goal UC sorrows and boy has he been
- 28:31exceptional. A201 record, a 164 goals against
- 28:35average and just five goals against him with a 947 save
- 28:40percentage to start the year. Last year, things snowballed
- 28:44away from the Preds in every way.
- 28:46Everybody was out of it by the end of the season and UC Soros
- 28:50had poor play in front of him. He wasn't as engaged as he could
- 28:53be at the end of the year as everybody on the team was, and
- 28:57right from day one. This year, he snaps right back
- 29:00into franchise goalie form and it's been so fun to watch.
- 29:05It really has been, and you mentioned those numbers.
- 29:07Max that 1.64 goals against average through his three games,
- 29:1111th in the NHL overall. However, he's one of only two
- 29:16goaltenders in that top 11 with a number that good who has
- 29:20appeared in at least three games.
- 29:21Igor Shasturkin is the other, and it's the same in the save
- 29:25percentage category, 7th in the NHL, But again, one of just two
- 29:28goal tenders in that top seven who has played at least three
- 29:32games. When you get at this point in
- 29:34the season, when you get a goalie who's played one game and
- 29:36he had a good game and he's got a 970 save percentage, you might
- 29:39think, wow, look at him, he's doing great.
- 29:41But once you start getting into some more action, things tend to
- 29:45level out. So in the early going, I think
- 29:47you could make the argument that UC Soros has been more important
- 29:52to the Predators than maybe any other goaltender on their
- 29:55respective teams. And again, Igor Shasturkins, the
- 29:58guy for the Rangers who has those great numbers, but the
- 30:00Rangers have been shut out three times at home.
- 30:02So he's plan to play lights out to even give them a chance in
- 30:05those games. So yeah, UC Soros has been
- 30:08excellent. And I was talking to Chase
- 30:11McCabe on one O 25, the pregame show before the game in Toronto.
- 30:15And just the way I mean that, yeah, Max loves that.
- 30:17And just the way that Soros has played.
- 30:21And I I said the chase, you know, it's great to see.
- 30:23But maybe we shouldn't be surprised necessarily because we
- 30:27know that he's capable of that, right?
- 30:28It's not like we've never seen UC Soros play at a Vesna caliber
- 30:33level before. But it's obviously great to see.
- 30:36We know that he just started his new contract this season.
- 30:40There are maybe some questions. Can he regain that form?
- 30:43And of course, again, it is early, but the fact that he has
- 30:46come out to start the season like this and he's kind of been
- 30:49a notoriously slow starter in the past as well.
- 30:52So the fact that he has started the season like this, really
- 30:55great to see. Let you guys know something that
- 30:59that Mike Kelly told us. Obviously he's with sport logic.
- 31:02We've had him on the broadcast. So I was pulling up this this
- 31:04text that he sent our group chat about the first game and he said
- 31:08he wanted to highlight UC Soros. He said one thing that makes him
- 31:11so great as a smaller goalie is how good his feet are.
- 31:15He's getting square to the shots.
- 31:17He said if he wasn't, he'd be in trouble.
- 31:19But one thing he was noticing was how many shots Soros was
- 31:21taking, you know, in front, getting square to them, being
- 31:24able to stop them. And I think that's credited to
- 31:27just how good he's been at saving the puck so far.
- 31:33Well, and we know that he is incredibly athletic, right?
- 31:37I think every basically every goaltender in the NHL today is
- 31:40at least 6-2 or six 3. Some of them there was a
- 31:43gentleman. I'm I'm blanking on his name
- 31:45right now, but for the Florida Panthers in the pre season it
- 31:47was 6869 I think in that. Yes, he's growing every day.
- 31:53He he was 610, the first time he ever faced us.
- 31:57Yeah, it's it's insane how large some of these goal tenders are
- 32:00in sizes and everything. But it is rare that there's a
- 32:04goaltender of Soros's height, which is 511, who is not only
- 32:08playing in the NHL, but starting and starring in the NHL.
- 32:12And that has always been something that he would have had
- 32:16to overcome regardless. And it's been something that
- 32:18people always mentioned from time to time, but because of his
- 32:22athleticism and his quickness and just his technical skills in
- 32:26the goal crease, I'm not a goaltender.
- 32:27One of our goaltending coaches could explain this much better.
- 32:30But just the way that he's able. You mentioned it, Kara, square
- 32:33to the puck in front of the pocket.
- 32:35He's a guy that and all NHL goals are like this.
- 32:38If they see the puck, they're going to stop it.
- 32:40But not only do you need your goaltender to make the routine
- 32:43saves, but you need him to steal a few every once in a while.
- 32:47And Soros has definitely stolen a few.
- 32:51And looking down the road at the Pred schedule after Eustace on
- 32:55and then had a shaky performance in his season debut, there are
- 32:5910 games until the Predators next back-to-back.
- 33:02I think there's a chance. You see, Soros could start all
- 33:04of those the way that he's played.
- 33:07Yeah, the hot hand right now. I think maybe, you know, that's
- 33:10a good point, Max. Like, we'll see how that shakes
- 33:12out. They usually have a plan ahead
- 33:15of time as to who's going to play win, but if you're riding
- 33:17the hot hand, why not stick with Soros at least for the next
- 33:20little bit? So we'll see how this plays out,
- 33:23but certainly a lot to like in the goaltending department for
- 33:27the Predators in the form of UC Soros and the guys left playing
- 33:30in front of him. I, I loved asking Brady Martin
- 33:32after opening night. Have you ever, I've played in
- 33:35front of a goalie like UC Soros and he said not even close, not
- 33:38in my life have I ever played in front of a goaltender like that.
- 33:41And when you know you have a goaltender behind you who has
- 33:45the capability to capability to bail you out, that just spreads
- 33:49more confidence through the rest of the team.
- 33:51When you know you've got a backbone who is capable of doing
- 33:54what Soros is doing makes everybody else on the ice
- 33:57better, too. UC Soros and his sled dogs
- 34:00leading the Preds on the road through Canada.
- 34:02This week. We'll take a break, come back,
- 34:05talk about this fun road trip to start the year earlier than
- 34:08usual for visits to Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and then
- 34:12always friendly Winnipeg. Coming up later this week, this
- 34:15is the Predators official podcast.
- 34:17I'm Max Herz with Cara Hammer and Brooks Bratton back after
- 34:20this on Predators YouTube, your favorite podcast platform and
- 34:23One O 25 the game. Welcome back to the Predators
- 34:27Official Podcast. I'm Cara Hammer along with
- 34:30Brooks Bratton and Max Hers. And if you've been a listener of
- 34:34the Fred's Official podcast, you know that Brooks Bratton is a
- 34:38fan of Thanksgiving, American Thanksgiving, Canadian
- 34:42Thanksgiving. Brooks, you, you mentioned it in
- 34:46our very first episode. You would already put this day
- 34:49down. You were going to be in Canada
- 34:51for their Thanksgiving. How did the day go for you?
- 34:56Yeah. Never have I ever been in Canada
- 34:57for Thanksgiving before, which obviously much earlier than the
- 35:01American Thanksgiving that we are used to.
- 35:04So we were very excited on Monday of it's kind of like a
- 35:08Thanksgiving weekend, I've been told in Canada.
- 35:11And so of course the Preds play in Ottawa Monday afternoon.
- 35:14So then we immediately fly from Ottawa to Toronto that night,
- 35:19and we had a reservation at a lovely Canadian establishment
- 35:24that was offering a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner with which
- 35:28is not all that dissimilar to what we experienced.
- 35:31There's Turkey, there's mashed potatoes, there's stuffing, all
- 35:33the fixings and whatnot. But we go to this restaurant and
- 35:37we got in a little bit late. As we mentioned, the game took
- 35:3912 hours in in Ottawa. So we eventually get to Toronto
- 35:43or late for our reservation. No worries.
- 35:45We get there and unfortunately we find out that the restaurant
- 35:49has run out of their Canadian Thanksgiving dinner.
- 35:52So, so kind of a bummer there. But however, they did still have
- 35:58the cheesecake with a special pumpkin drizzle we immediately
- 36:02put before we even got our food. We said, put aside 5 slices of
- 36:06that for all of us. We'll take it when the time
- 36:08comes. But then I must say too, that
- 36:11once the waitress found out that we were American, she didn't
- 36:14feel that bad for us because she's like, well, you still have
- 36:16your Thanksgiving coming. Like, I know, we know, we know
- 36:19it'll be fine. But yeah, I, I, I guess the
- 36:22moral of the story, if you're trying to make it for Canadian
- 36:25Thanksgiving, don't work a hockey game that takes 3 hours
- 36:28ahead of time and maybe things would have gone differently, but
- 36:32it's OK, it worked out. We got pumpkin cheesecake.
- 36:35It's all good. Well, one thing we have gotten a
- 36:36kick out of was learning about some of these rookies, the
- 36:41things they're experiencing on their first Rd. trips.
- 36:44Brady Martin, we know that in Toronto he got to go to a place
- 36:47called Sodo Sodo, which we're learning is a very nice Italian
- 36:51restaurant. On the Toronto broadcast, they
- 36:53were talking about their rookie Easton Cowan, about having tuna
- 36:56tartar for the first time. So I, I think let's put it into
- 37:00perspective. You're 18 years old guy like
- 37:03Brady Martin. You grow up on a farm.
- 37:05You know, we talked about how hard his family works on that
- 37:08farm, and now you're kind of living the high life because we
- 37:10know the team travels well. Yeah, we've been rolling this
- 37:16week too. What a road trip to start on.
- 37:18Also, we got to stay in downtown Ottawa, which is not always the
- 37:22case. Their arena is, as I would
- 37:24describe it to Preds fans in the Murfreesboro of Ottawa.
- 37:27And we know we have amazing fans in Murfreesboro, but that's not
- 37:32where Bridgestone Arena is. And the senators are hoping to
- 37:35eventually move into downtown, which is beautiful, the Canadian
- 37:38capital, all the parliamentary buildings, the water, the Canal,
- 37:41Quebec, right across the river. It's a really cool spot.
- 37:44So that's where we got to spend the first night on the road this
- 37:47season. Chris Mason got to see all the
- 37:49Canadian statues of his great Canadian heroes by the
- 37:53parliamentary buildings and we had a good time out there.
- 37:56Then we play the Monday afternoon game in Ottawa and
- 38:00Monday night we get to the hotel in Toronto right as the Blue
- 38:03Jays are getting killed in game two of the ALCS and all the fans
- 38:08are just walking out. Really sad.
- 38:10Our hotel was close to the Skydome, close to the CN Tower,
- 38:13and Brooks's dinner experience was probably the same as mine
- 38:17where the restaurant was just filled with sad jazz fans just
- 38:22trying to sort things. Outgoing down O2 in the series.
- 38:26And here we are in Montreal. How GAIL has already been
- 38:28recognized, and Chris Mason was also recognized in tandem with
- 38:33how we had a Habs fan actually give a pretty impressive guess.
- 38:38He was like, you play in the NHL too, right?
- 38:40And Mace goes, yeah, I did. And the guy thought about it
- 38:44like really hard for probably 30 seconds.
- 38:47And he goes Mason, Steve Mason, so close.
- 38:55The beauty Of Montreal. And this is my first time here,
- 38:58not on a back-to-back. So cool to see the city.
- 39:01I personally have a lot of family history in Montreal.
- 39:04That's really personal and meaningful for me.
- 39:06So yeah, excited to see more of it coming in the next day and a
- 39:10half and see the Preds at the Bell Center on Thursday night
- 39:13against the Canadians team that as I said in the last segment, I
- 39:17think that team is really good. I think they have a really high
- 39:19ceiling. Really good team there.
- 39:22And I've got to mention too, and I try to say this to people, but
- 39:25if you ever get the chance to come to Montreal to see the
- 39:30Canadiens play at the Bell Center, hopefully against the
- 39:32Preds, But at any point in time, you've just got to do it.
- 39:37If if you're a hockey fan and you love the game, to experience
- 39:41a game at the Bell Center in Montreal, it's just different.
- 39:44The crowd is electric. The hot dogs are fantastic.
- 39:48I can't wait to have at least a couple on Thursday night at the
- 39:51Bell Center. There's something about that
- 39:53aura, right? Like just having a hot dog at
- 39:55the Bell Center, watching a hockey game.
- 39:57If you're a hockey person, there's just you've got to
- 40:00experience it sometime if you can.
- 40:02So always a pleasure to be in Montreal.
- 40:04The culture is amazing, the food's fantastic and and the fan
- 40:08base here is just. If you can't even describe to
- 40:11you the passion, we know what it's like in Smashville, but
- 40:15it's it's something here in Montreal and and it's something
- 40:18that I think every hockey fan should be able to experience at
- 40:21some point. Yeah, pretty cool, pretty cool
- 40:24to be here. Honored to be part of it and
- 40:26hope you guys are watching and listening to Preds radio and
- 40:29Preds TV Thursday night at six against the Canadians.
- 40:32If you are listening to this in time, there is also a watch
- 40:35party, the first official Michelob Ultra watch party
- 40:38hosted by the Preds this season for the game on Thursday night,
- 40:41the 16th against the Canadians at Odie's in Midtown,
- 40:45Nashville's new hotspot and a proud partner of the Preds, host
- 40:49of the Catfish Kissing booth last month and now the host of
- 40:52the Watch Party Party. 5:00 is when the party starts with Wayne
- 40:56D and DJ Battle and the game starts at six.
- 41:00Go on down to Odie's. Every time I've ever been there,
- 41:03it's been packed to the gills, catfish, pun intended.
- 41:06So yeah, get on down and get there early Thursday night at
- 41:09Odie's for Preds and Halves. There you go.
- 41:14That's all you need to know. We'll bring it to you here from
- 41:17Montreal, and we'll come back in just a moment to wrap things up
- 41:19on the Preds official podcast on the radio, the YouTube and your
- 41:24favorite podcast platform. Brooks, Max and Cara back in a
- 41:26moment. Welcome back to the Preds
- 41:29official podcast, and as always, our favorite segment of the
- 41:33week. Our Big E Awesome Person award
- 41:37is going to go this week to our very own UC Sorrows.
- 41:41Lindsay Riley had a great story on good guy UC Sorrows and why
- 41:45he's so awesome. In fact, the Predators and the
- 41:50Senators are scoreless in the first period.
- 41:52I'm Lindsay rally down rinkside. Well, recently John Thompson,
- 41:56who was a member of the ownership group for the
- 41:59Nashville Predators, got a call but his dogs had gotten out.
- 42:04Now the man on the other end of the line said he found the dogs
- 42:07and was going to return them home to him.
- 42:09John gave him the address, and shortly after, John and his wife
- 42:13arrived home to see an individual who had kindly waited
- 42:16on their front doorstep for them to return.
- 42:18As they approached the front door, they saw a familiar face.
- 42:21That face was using Sorrows. So if you're already a Sorrows
- 42:25fan, that's a little bit of insight to the man behind the
- 42:27mask. Great goaltender, better person.
- 42:29All right, guys. So that's a pretty cool story.
- 42:31I mean, we got to give a shout out to Hal Gill, who came across
- 42:35this information. John Thompson, one of the owners
- 42:39of the Nashville Predators. I mean, could you imagine your
- 42:42dogs get out? You probably are a little bit
- 42:44frantic and then you show up and it's UC Soros.
- 42:47And as we know, Soros is like a dog person.
- 42:50This is what he does for the Foundation.
- 42:55What can't he save? That's a great one.
- 43:03The hero this city and their dogs need.
- 43:06UC Soros. Truly the most perfect, coolest
- 43:08person ever. So great job, Lindsay.
- 43:11Great job, Hal. UC Soros, rock on with your bad
- 43:15self. Why are you so awesome?
- 43:17The Big E Award winner of the week in honor of Arundonic.
- 43:20Great job, Juice. So Max, we had a couple of
- 43:25guesses on your trivia question, your great trivia question about
- 43:28which two members of the Predators have previously played
- 43:32in the Olympics. Everybody got Roman Yossi, but
- 43:35nobody got the second person, which after the love that we've
- 43:39given him in this podcast, perhaps it's evident as to why
- 43:43this second member of the Predators has been an Olympic
- 43:47participant. But why don't you go ahead and
- 43:49reveal the gentleman who has represented his country at the
- 43:53Olympic Games before? Well, I told everybody last week
- 43:56when we asked the question, it's not an obvious one.
- 43:59It's not Steven Stamkos, it's not Ryan O'Reilly, it's not
- 44:02Philip Forsberg, It's not UC Soros.
- 44:04The second Preds Olympian is new Nashville defenseman Nick
- 44:09Purvix, who played in the 2022 Olympics in Beijing when he was
- 44:14a senior at Saint Cloud State when NHL players were not there.
- 44:18He said it was an amazing experience.
- 44:20Sadly, the US did not meddle that year.
- 44:23We think they will probably have a good chance to meddle this
- 44:26year when the NHL players go back in Milan this coming
- 44:29February. But it was a pretty cool team
- 44:33with some rising stars. Matthew Nyes who just scored
- 44:35against the Burr, had assists against the Preds yesterday was
- 44:38one of the best players on that team.
- 44:40Brock Faber was on that team. A lot of guys who have
- 44:42matriculated into the NHL like Purbeck's over the last 3-4
- 44:46years since then and then a couple of veterans leading the
- 44:49way like Justin Abdulkader was their biggest name.
- 44:52That so a cool squad in Beijing. There were some COVID
- 44:56limitations on what they could do early in 2022 and also
- 45:01Perfect said he could not go to as many of the other sports as
- 45:04he would like as a spectator because apparently they were
- 45:07very spread out, especially the skiing and the downhill type
- 45:11mountainy events were apparently 4 hours away from where the
- 45:15hockey was in the actual city of Beijing.
- 45:18But pretty cool. Nick Perfects, proud American
- 45:21from Elk River, MN, USA, one of your two Preds Olympians and
- 45:26more will be added this year. I love it.
- 45:30Great question. Thanks for the the guesses from
- 45:32our loyal listeners. And we did get one question as
- 45:36well. Again, you can use #preds
- 45:37podcast on X. You can comment on the YouTube
- 45:40link below if you've got questions or things you'd like
- 45:43us to address on the show. We got a question from a
- 45:46gentleman who I think we all know, WK Scholl, the Twitter
- 45:49name, one of our fellow Preds employees.
- 45:52But asking if Brady Martin is scratched, does that count
- 45:55against his nine games in the NHL before being sent back to
- 45:59juniors? I think you had mentioned this
- 46:01before, but it does not count. It's, it's, it's games played
- 46:05in, it's not team games, right? So the fact that Brady Martin
- 46:09has been up here for four games but only played in two, he's
- 46:12only got 2 games counting against his nine game total
- 46:16before he can either be sent back to juniors or the first
- 46:20year of his entry level contract kicks in.
- 46:22So just wanted to mention that, clear that up again, we touched
- 46:25on it earlier in the show. The Preds have a plan for him
- 46:28and we'll see how that continue, continues to plays out in the
- 46:31days and weeks to come. But yeah, nine games played in
- 46:35for Brady Martin until the Predators officially must make a
- 46:39decision in that regard when it comes to the first year of his
- 46:43ELC. And to play off of that, Brooks,
- 46:45the reason they don't send him down to Milwaukee is because you
- 46:48have to be 20 years old to play in the AHL.
- 46:51And as we know, Brady Martin is only 18.
- 46:53Therefore this is kind of a a tricky situation to be such a
- 46:57young guy and you have the nine games already, send them all the
- 46:59way back down to to juniors. Yeah, that's another good point.
- 47:03Yeah, I've seen some people mention, well, when are they
- 47:05going to send send him to Milwaukee?
- 47:07Well, they can't. It's either, it's either NHL or
- 47:10Ontario Hockey League. The American Hockey League will
- 47:13have to wait, but they've got other good players in Milwaukee,
- 47:15so I think they'll be OK. Yeah, and Matt Wood made his AHL
- 47:19debut over the weekend. So great to see Wood healthy and
- 47:23I think we will be seeing him in Nashville hopefully for a long
- 47:26time this season with the way he proved himself in preseason
- 47:29before he got hurt. So happy for Matt Wood to be
- 47:31back going. 100% and guys, I think we're going to wrap it up
- 47:38here, Max and I in Montreal. It's been a pleasure to bring
- 47:42another episode of the Pres Official Podcast to you.
- 47:45I'm Brooks Bratton. You can find me at Brooks
- 47:48Bratton on X and Brooks Bites on Instagram, Max's favorite
- 47:51Instagram account. If you're looking for Canadian
- 47:54Thanksgiving food on Brooks bites, you're not going to find
- 47:56it, which is another indictment on the dumbest account out
- 48:00there. Do not follow.
- 48:02You don't have to. I would encourage you to block
- 48:05it, actually, which I attempted to do, but apparently that would
- 48:08also block Brooks's real account, and despite the fact
- 48:10that I think the food account is dumb, I'm not that mean to block
- 48:14his real. Account though.
- 48:16Thank you, Max. Yeah, don't follow me anywhere.
- 48:20You know what? Go ahead, Kara.
- 48:23I'm blocked. I'm blocked.
- 48:24I've blocked both of you in this process.
- 48:26Mentally, the mental block, I'm out of here.
- 48:29Have a great one. Thanks for following us today on
- 48:32the Preds Official Podcast. You can find us wherever you
- 48:35listen to your streaming episodes.
- 48:38All right, we'll let we'll cut these two guys loose in Montreal
- 48:41and we'll follow up after this Canadian road trip.
- 48:46Bonjour bon voyage.
