- 0:05Speaker 2: Hi.
- 0:06Speaker 3: I'm Ryan Blaney, a third generation race car driver, and
- 0:08Speaker 3: we dedicate a lot of our time to going as
- 0:10Speaker 3: fast as possible. My Grandpa Lou is the reason why
- 0:12Speaker 3: my dad and I started racing, and I'm really proud
- 0:14Speaker 3: to follow on his tracks. But when my grandpa was
- 0:17Speaker 3: diagnosed with Alzheimer's, it was a very unexpected bump in.
- 0:19Speaker 4: The road for us.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I've learned a lot on this journey with my Grandpa Lou,
- 0:23Speaker 3: and the memories of my grandpa will always be with me.
- 0:25Speaker 3: It's important to notice if older family members are acting differently,
- 0:28Speaker 3: experiencing problems with their memory, or having trouble with routine tasks.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Talking about Alzheimer's can be really tough, but if you
- 0:35Speaker 3: notice something, have a conversation with your love one, encourage
- 0:37Speaker 3: them to see a doctor or offer to go with them.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Early detection of Alzheimer's can give your family time to
- 0:42Speaker 3: explore support services, make a plan for the future, and
- 0:45Speaker 3: access available treatments. The Alzheimer's Association provides care, support and
- 0:49Speaker 3: research to help you take control of the situation with
- 0:52Speaker 3: your family and manage the disease together. If you or
- 0:55Speaker 3: your family are noticing changes, it could be Alzheimer's talk
- 0:57Speaker 3: about seeing a doctor together. Visit al z dot org
- 1:01Speaker 3: slash time to talk. A message from the Alzheimer's Association
- 1:04Speaker 3: and the ad Counsel.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Hey you lad, this is your home for Houston Astros Baseball,
- 1:09Speaker 5: brought to you by Kelly Birddozer. Kelly Birddozer, you're listening
- 1:13Speaker 5: to Kyzy and E College Station.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Brian family owned and operated since nineteen seventy two. Stepcheck
- 1:19Speaker 6: Service Center, twenty two hundred Longmire, just down from the
- 1:22Speaker 6: post office in College Station.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Man, I've jay where man I can't beat that, so
- 1:30Speaker 2: he might just let Johnny Cash carry us on to
- 1:33Speaker 2: the news. It's only fifty six minutes. And wait, come on,
- 1:35Speaker 2: just hit reply, replay, replay. You're okay, Yes, you guessed.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Chip Howard is not here again for anybody you know,
- 1:46Speaker 2: go to the internet. There's still pictures out there. You
- 1:48Speaker 2: can see him. He does exist, and I heard there
- 1:50Speaker 2: was a sighting of him in Brian College Station today.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So we'll see Chip is on vacation, which means yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 2: as a listener, you probably should have taken a vacation,
- 2:03Speaker 2: but instead you're here with Robert Sessa, the Brian College
- 2:07Speaker 2: Station Eagle. I will be joined eventually by cohort Alex Miller.
- 2:13Speaker 2: You know, College Station is a big place. It's not
- 2:15Speaker 2: like he grew up here. It's easy to get lost
- 2:17Speaker 2: and those things happen. And I know we're all fighting
- 2:21Speaker 2: this deal that it's really hot out there. The good
- 2:24Speaker 2: new news is this show will be even hotter than
- 2:28Speaker 2: that once Alex gets here. But until he gets here,
- 2:31Speaker 2: I forget it. You got to put up with I'm
- 2:33Speaker 2: not going to talk about the meetings today. I moved
- 2:35Speaker 2: on from that, but talking about the heat to start
- 2:40Speaker 2: out with, I'm a Yankee. I grew up Pennsylvania. What
- 2:44Speaker 2: I like about heat? It does get hot in humid
- 2:48Speaker 2: in Texas, and you never sometimes really know how hot
- 2:51Speaker 2: it is until you leave and come back, like Alex
- 2:54Speaker 2: and I went to SEC Media Day. As soon as
- 2:56Speaker 2: you get off that plane in Austin, you're going, yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 2: welcome back to Texas. But I have to laugh at
- 3:01Speaker 2: is people say it's never hot at the beach. You know,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I'm not a beach person. Can't even swim. Why would
- 3:08Speaker 2: you learn to do that there wasn't you know, why
- 3:11Speaker 2: would I learn to do that? Alex could attest to,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I don't want to learn anything more than I need
- 3:16Speaker 2: to know. So anyway, the wife grew up in Tampa.
- 3:20Speaker 2: She went to the Bahamas every summer, so the beach
- 3:24Speaker 2: is part of her name. So we have to go
- 3:26Speaker 2: to the beach every summer. Spent two weeks in Naples
- 3:30Speaker 2: and guess what, it was ninety five ninety six every day,
- 3:34Speaker 2: which was great because you want it to be hot
- 3:36Speaker 2: when you're at the beach, but it's fun when you're
- 3:40Speaker 2: not at the beach. You don't want it to be hot.
- 3:43Speaker 7: Now.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Of course, when you're at the beach, you know, when
- 3:46Speaker 2: you're a news beach, you let it all hang out,
- 3:48Speaker 2: you know. And we wanted a news beach, and I
- 3:51Speaker 2: could tell everybody my wife's office just fell off their chair,
- 3:53Speaker 2: like you guys wants beach. No, it's Naples. At Naples
- 3:59Speaker 2: had some cos my age, it's hard just to get
- 4:01Speaker 2: our clothes on. Why would you take them off? But anyway,
- 4:05Speaker 2: it was unconditionally warm actually for Naples, so it was
- 4:08Speaker 2: a good deal. But you come back here and you
- 4:10Speaker 2: have to work and it's this hot, uh not not
- 4:14Speaker 2: a good deal in Alex. Welcome in Alex right now,
- 4:18Speaker 2: hey sees, and Alex spent time at a cooler beach
- 4:26Speaker 2: on his honeymoon because Alex married Alex. Flip them it's
- 4:31Speaker 2: Alex and Alex. Congratulations again on the wedding. But you
- 4:34Speaker 2: guys went to Monterey, not Mexico, California. Right was it
- 4:40Speaker 2: thirty degrees?
- 4:41Speaker 7: It was cool. It was upper sixties and sunny the
- 4:45Speaker 7: whole week. It was amazing. And while we were there,
- 4:50Speaker 7: we uh, we saw something that Texas has had had
- 4:54Speaker 7: had its first one hundred degree day of the year,
- 4:57Speaker 7: and I thought, thank goodness that we are not in
- 5:00Speaker 7: college station right now.
- 5:02Speaker 2: But you know, let's be honest. I sign up for heat.
- 5:05Speaker 2: When I grew up, I always said this, and I've
- 5:09Speaker 2: said this a million times on the air of my show.
- 5:12Speaker 2: You wait for a school bus with snow up to
- 5:17Speaker 2: your knees, You'll find a way to get where it's hot.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I will not complain about the heat. I will gladly sweat.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Even though I've been here more than five decades, I
- 5:27Speaker 2: still remember those bone chilling times out waiting for the buses,
- 5:34Speaker 2: have to get up to go to church, and I
- 5:36Speaker 2: go do you have to go to church today? It
- 5:37Speaker 2: looks like it's snowed in. Get up, We're going to
- 5:40Speaker 2: church and go. Okay, I'll take the heat any day.
- 5:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 5:44Speaker 7: One of the best parts of going to SEC media
- 5:46Speaker 7: days is getting to catch up with your rider colleagues
- 5:50Speaker 7: from around the league. And so I was talking with
- 5:53Speaker 7: one of my rider buddies. He covers Auburn and he
- 5:56Speaker 7: had gone to Missou and so I was talking to him,
- 5:59Speaker 7: and see, I think when you were deciding where to go,
- 6:03Speaker 7: you were between A and M and Missouri back in
- 6:05Speaker 7: the nineteen seventies, Is that right? Those were two of
- 6:08Speaker 7: the schools you were looking at.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yes, they were. I got accepted at Missouri, I was
- 6:11Speaker 2: taking going to take undergraduate. I had a degree, it
- 6:14Speaker 2: was gonna take some journalism courses. I got accepted in Missouri,
- 6:18Speaker 2: A and M. And the fact I'm so old I
- 6:19Speaker 2: forgot the third.
- 6:20Speaker 7: Well, fast forward forty years, a young Alex is deciding
- 6:24Speaker 7: where to go to school. I got into A and M,
- 6:27Speaker 7: Auburn and Missouri, and one of the reasons I chose
- 6:30Speaker 7: not to go to Missouri was I decided that there
- 6:33Speaker 7: was no way I'd survive winner no way. And I
- 6:38Speaker 7: I was telling this sports writer buddy that and he's
- 6:40Speaker 7: He's like, yeah, man, there were a couple of times
- 6:43Speaker 7: that it got down in like negative fifteen twenty degree
- 6:46Speaker 7: windschill And I said, and that is why I did
- 6:49Speaker 7: not go to school there.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you got to look at the quality of life.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I never came here thinking I would spend the rest
- 6:58Speaker 2: of my life here. But I came here because of
- 7:01Speaker 2: the heat, because of a major university.
- 7:04Speaker 8: Uh.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And when I got here, the sports was great, the
- 7:12Speaker 2: the heat was great. I love the heat. I love
- 7:14Speaker 2: the fact you get out in the cargo ninety mile
- 7:16Speaker 2: an hour and you get get a lot of places
- 7:18Speaker 2: Back in Pennsylvania Hills you couldn't do that. And that
- 7:22Speaker 2: is time of all is great place to raise a family,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and you're part of that. You you're a hometown boy,
- 7:27Speaker 2: so you understand how that goes. But the heat. I'll
- 7:30Speaker 2: take the heat, and uh but I hope I don't
- 7:33Speaker 2: have to go out and cover a lot of And
- 7:34Speaker 2: in practice, that's the beauty of being old. Alex can
- 7:37Speaker 2: be out there when they need to be. I as
- 7:39Speaker 2: I get older, I get out the less and less
- 7:42Speaker 2: practices because uh, I wait to say, played Missouri State.
- 7:48Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, football practice it's brutal, but hey, you
- 7:53Speaker 7: learn some of the best stuff out at practice, and
- 7:55Speaker 7: that's where you really get to You get to see
- 7:57Speaker 7: what's going on, who's who, who's making waves, who's rising
- 8:02Speaker 7: up the depth chart. You know. I can remember a
- 8:04Speaker 7: couple of years ago, a lot of people wanted to
- 8:08Speaker 7: talk about what Donovan Green was gonna bring to the
- 8:11Speaker 7: table coming off his injury. Well, you went out to
- 8:14Speaker 7: practice and it's like, Hey, there's this guy named Trey
- 8:17Speaker 7: Watson and he's really getting all the looks and I
- 8:20Speaker 7: think he's gonna be the guy in LO and behold
- 8:23Speaker 7: it was him.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Okay, I just want to give Arabella synopsis. This is
- 8:27Speaker 2: you know, a lot of days A and M Missouri
- 8:32Speaker 2: Texas would take over the SEC network. The Eagle has
- 8:35Speaker 2: taken over Chips Show today. So if you want to
- 8:38Speaker 2: join in, you can go and text us, which is
- 8:41Speaker 2: probably better because who has a phone anymore except me?
- 8:44Speaker 2: Nine seven nine almost almost cave up my own cell
- 8:48Speaker 2: phone number. No one would ever call that nine seven
- 8:52Speaker 2: nine six.
- 8:56Speaker 7: Nine seven nine six nine three eleven fifty.
- 8:58Speaker 2: And tell your audience who who just jump popped in
- 9:01Speaker 2: there talking.
- 9:02Speaker 7: I'm the guest host, the producer, the whatever you want
- 9:04Speaker 7: me to be.
- 9:06Speaker 2: When does your host your last show host yesterday?
- 9:09Speaker 7: Oh wow, yep, I was.
- 9:11Speaker 2: So busy I didn't listen.
- 9:13Speaker 7: But that hurts.
- 9:14Speaker 2: He had part of the Riders round table.
- 9:15Speaker 7: Then right, yeah, so you're the other half today.
- 9:18Speaker 2: You're even part of the Riders round table? Whatever? Man,
- 9:21Speaker 2: I guess man, I hate to miss Rusty. I would
- 9:23Speaker 2: like to go ahead and call in and point out
- 9:26Speaker 2: that today, if the Major League Baseball playoffs started, the
- 9:30Speaker 2: Pittsburgh Pirates would be in the playoffs. Am I gonna
- 9:33Speaker 2: get struck by lightning? Holy cow? Unbelievable?
- 9:37Speaker 7: And then schemes would give up eleven runs and the ski.
- 9:40Speaker 2: But you'd also strike out eleven. He'd strike out eleven,
- 9:44Speaker 2: give up eleven and uh, It's like, did he forget
- 9:48Speaker 2: the pitch? Has he been to many brothers too many times?
- 9:52Speaker 2: I'd like to know what his weight is?
- 9:53Speaker 8: Is?
- 9:54Speaker 2: What's the deal? I mean, it's like, how could you
- 9:56Speaker 2: take the best pitcher in baseball and suddenly everybody else
- 10:01Speaker 2: around I mean, okay, let me brack this off. Probably
- 10:04Speaker 2: about six or seven people around him in one of
- 10:07Speaker 2: the worst Major League franchises in the last ten years
- 10:09Speaker 2: are playing better than he is. Now I'm glad they are,
- 10:12Speaker 2: but I go, Skemes is gonna kick in. And of
- 10:14Speaker 2: course I was so busy at aus L and I
- 10:18Speaker 2: don't I don't buy MLB online or whatever. You get
- 10:21Speaker 2: too addicted. I just do game tracker because it's nice
- 10:24Speaker 2: about game tracker. Is I got busy. I wasn't able
- 10:27Speaker 2: to watch the Pirate Game. I day, I turn on
- 10:29Speaker 2: a hit game tracker. It's like seven eight, now, okay,
- 10:31Speaker 2: forget about that. Don't have to worry about the rest
- 10:33Speaker 2: of the next hour. And you go like, what did
- 10:36Speaker 2: he do? Did he not even show up? And then
- 10:38Speaker 2: I find out he struck out eleven and they lose
- 10:41Speaker 2: eleven enough. That's hard to do.
- 10:43Speaker 7: That is hard to do.
- 10:44Speaker 2: It's hard to do. But anyway, get you caught up
- 10:46Speaker 2: on the show. You can join us, you can address
- 10:49Speaker 2: any one of us three here in the booth. And
- 10:53Speaker 2: it gets real bad. He is a producer, so suddenly
- 10:57Speaker 2: it goes it goes dead.
- 10:58Speaker 7: Yeah, blame me.
- 10:59Speaker 2: He figured the dead air is better than what we're saying,
- 11:01Speaker 2: which might not be that bad an idea. And uh,
- 11:05Speaker 2: if you actually want to talk to a human being.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Rowley would answer your phones at six nine three eleven
- 11:10Speaker 2: point fifty, and she could probably tell you where to eat,
- 11:13Speaker 2: if what movies you need to go see, things like that.
- 11:16Speaker 2: You know exactly. Oh, this is a crowded booth. This
- 11:20Speaker 2: has happened before. Stand the Man Okay here remember Stand
- 11:24Speaker 2: the Man musical going off the air. Okay, we've got
- 11:27Speaker 2: Stand the Man is learning to be the next producer.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And I can honestly say, God bless you. You know
- 11:36Speaker 2: you work for Chip Whoo man. You gotta be able
- 11:39Speaker 2: to know music, sports, politics.
- 11:47Speaker 7: Chip's a renaissance man. He's a renaissance man and.
- 11:51Speaker 2: He's probably been the Renaissance Festival too. They probably have
- 11:54Speaker 2: him on display about down there.
- 11:55Speaker 7: Huzza, hussa.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Okay, we're gonna hop right. I don't need a board.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You're just gonna tell me what we do? Is we go?
- 12:04Speaker 2: No problem? I know everybody. I know my full little
- 12:08Speaker 2: listeners from the old days out there. You're not going
- 12:10Speaker 2: to blay this. But I walked in about three minutes
- 12:12Speaker 2: before we ready to go on there? Am I right?
- 12:15Speaker 2: What was it? Two?
- 12:16Speaker 9: Hey?
- 12:17Speaker 7: Those three? Those three more minutes for me?
- 12:19Speaker 2: True but you're not hosting, you're the celebrity to be doing.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Here a couple of things bookkeeping today, the Bombers Browsers
- 12:27Speaker 2: Valley Bombers made the TCL Playoffs for the twentieth straight year.
- 12:34Speaker 2: You know how many times I've seen Bombers games, twenty
- 12:37Speaker 2: years I can remember. I was like to tell people
- 12:41Speaker 2: they played their first playoff game at the Kapel Copperhens
- 12:47Speaker 2: and they played I Want to See Baby on Compel
- 12:50Speaker 2: High School. They played on a high school field.
- 12:52Speaker 7: Did you go up and cover it?
- 12:54Speaker 2: I went up and cover it for the Eagle, And
- 12:56Speaker 2: I was doing color with a guy named gay Bach
- 12:59Speaker 2: who went on World World Famous the gay Buck. Not
- 13:03Speaker 2: gay Buck that was on tech SAgs and it is
- 13:06Speaker 2: mister raggy and all that. But gay Buck who was
- 13:08Speaker 2: sold half the real estate Brian Cotn Station. Well maybe
- 13:11Speaker 2: only maybe only two thirds, but maybe the only Uh
- 13:16Speaker 2: we go four tenths and give Hunter Goodwin the other
- 13:19Speaker 2: I gotta be careful who I'm who I make mad
- 13:21Speaker 2: or say whatever Hunter did the other six tenths.
- 13:24Speaker 7: You know, have you have you seen the mock up
- 13:26Speaker 7: of these game day houses suites that that Gabes posted
- 13:31Speaker 7: about on social media. They've got like they're gonna build
- 13:34Speaker 7: this new like area of Uh they're like they look
- 13:40Speaker 7: like they're game day sweet houses and where they got
- 13:42Speaker 7: to build them out like Villa Maria. It's like kind
- 13:46Speaker 7: of right behind traditions, kind of your brass is Christian, Okay,
- 13:50Speaker 7: and uh but look at you. I mean they look phenomenal.
- 13:54Speaker 2: They take food stampsters.
- 13:56Speaker 7: There's probably a little higher than that.
- 13:58Speaker 2: See, but I'm sure gay let me stay there free
- 14:01Speaker 2: a weekend or something. You know, when they're playing Missouri
- 14:04Speaker 2: State or someone powerful like that, you know what the
- 14:07Speaker 2: band might.
- 14:08Speaker 7: Hey, hi, Hey, don't talk about Missouri State like that.
- 14:12Speaker 7: Big bad Bears come into town.
- 14:13Speaker 2: They don't have Patina, Patrino Patino or Patrino coaching. Hey,
- 14:18Speaker 2: that's why you're alone. Just to correct me as always.
- 14:20Speaker 2: But anyway, the Bombers play tonight at seven o five
- 14:23Speaker 2: at Avinsota's Bunker Bunker or Bunkerfield.
- 14:26Speaker 7: Or bunker Field where the Savannah Bananas played too long ago.
- 14:30Speaker 2: And what's amazing is I've covered enough Bombers games when
- 14:35Speaker 2: they played Victoria Generals a lot of times a brand
- 14:39Speaker 2: new rosters, but just something with the Victoria plays. The Bombers.
- 14:42Speaker 2: They get after it. They don't really like each other,
- 14:45Speaker 2: which is good anytime you have a rivalry. Just like
- 14:47Speaker 2: I'll talk a little bit later about the USL Championship.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It was the Talons. I think that's right, Talons, Talons,
- 14:54Speaker 2: How are you pronounced it versus I can always pronounce
- 14:56Speaker 2: the Bandits. You could tell they had history. So it's
- 14:59Speaker 2: always good when you play somebody like that that has history.
- 15:02Speaker 2: But anyway, Bombers, tonight might be the last game of
- 15:05Speaker 2: the year because obviously the best of three series switches
- 15:09Speaker 2: down to Victoria, and Victoria since they've entered the league,
- 15:14Speaker 2: they've just been about as successful as the Bombers, and
- 15:17Speaker 2: it's tough to win down at Riverside Stadium. I've never been.
- 15:20Speaker 2: But getting back to going up to do the game
- 15:22Speaker 2: with Bot, with with Gabe, if I'm not mistaken, Randy
- 15:26Speaker 2: my Son went with us. He rode up there and
- 15:28Speaker 2: I met a gave up there. Of course, of course
- 15:30Speaker 2: we did the game. And to just think twenty years
- 15:35Speaker 2: they're still playing Tip you're out to Ury and the Bombers,
- 15:41Speaker 2: And of course there's a lot of controversy. I don't
- 15:44Speaker 2: know the controversy. The news with two teams this summer,
- 15:47Speaker 2: and he's going to Avisota. I'm just gonna say, which
- 15:50Speaker 2: I can't say because I'm a JOURNALI it's gonna be
- 15:52Speaker 2: much better when the bombers you're back in town next
- 15:54Speaker 2: year for everybody, because now Avnsota was great what have you.
- 15:57Speaker 2: But it's hard to get in the car and go, hey, hey,
- 16:00Speaker 2: let's let's drive. I don't care if it's only fifteen
- 16:02Speaker 2: miles and say what you will. I've lived. I've lived
- 16:07Speaker 2: in both towns. If you go from one end to
- 16:09Speaker 2: the town the other end, sometimes the wife will go,
- 16:11Speaker 2: do we have to go to a dinner over there?
- 16:14Speaker 2: That's the other side of town. That's fifteen minutes. So
- 16:17Speaker 2: you know, sometimes you can get Tonvinsota quicker than you
- 16:20Speaker 2: can get from North Bryan to South College Station or
- 16:23Speaker 2: vice versa. Traffic.
- 16:24Speaker 7: So well, that's certainly true where I live.
- 16:27Speaker 2: That's true. Yeah, he lives out on the other side
- 16:30Speaker 2: of Novisota. I go through the Nevisaouda, Oh, I went
- 16:32Speaker 2: to Nevisoda. I went too far. I need to turn
- 16:35Speaker 2: around and go back and pick up Alex. And then,
- 16:37Speaker 2: speaking of things to cover or watch tomorrow night A
- 16:40Speaker 2: and M has their celebrity softball game the football team
- 16:43Speaker 2: and I went last year and you go. Ah, I
- 16:47Speaker 2: strongly recommended if you're an A and M football fan
- 16:51Speaker 2: or a softball fan, to go out for a couple
- 16:53Speaker 2: hours because everybody's relaxed, nobody's wearing helmets, and you know,
- 16:58Speaker 2: last year you could see Trey zoom up closed. You
- 17:00Speaker 2: can see all the players. They have a lot of fun.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I forget the coach that runs runs things and give
- 17:09Speaker 2: them a mic and uh.
- 17:12Speaker 7: Was a trueer tailor trooper tailor.
- 17:14Speaker 2: But I'm just saying this. They're gonna have food trucks there,
- 17:16Speaker 2: so don't worry about dropping over in the heat or
- 17:19Speaker 2: whatever like any A and M event. Uh, while this
- 17:23Speaker 2: one's free, still bring your wallet for some for some
- 17:27Speaker 2: deals and you'll be covering it. Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 7: I'll be out there tomorrow night. And I didn't get
- 17:32Speaker 7: to go last year. I think I was on vacation
- 17:33Speaker 7: when when we when they had that. But I do
- 17:37Speaker 7: think that this year they're gonna have a bigger crowd
- 17:40Speaker 7: because it's been it's been publicized and marketed a little
- 17:44Speaker 7: more in advance. I remember last year it kind of
- 17:48Speaker 7: came together all very quickly, at the last minute.
- 17:51Speaker 2: You didn't know what you're gonna get, and you didn't you.
- 17:53Speaker 7: Didn't know what it was gonna be. It was the
- 17:54Speaker 7: first time they'd done it, and it seemed like it
- 17:57Speaker 7: was a success, and they're bringing it back again this year,
- 18:00Speaker 7: and you know, just a fun way to kick off
- 18:02Speaker 7: things before the start of preseason practice. Guys are going
- 18:05Speaker 7: to go home this weekend one last time. They report
- 18:08Speaker 7: next Tuesday. Practice starts next week and yeah, it's gonna
- 18:13Speaker 7: elcoes relax.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Head coach Mike Elkoes relaxed. He gets along well with
- 18:17Speaker 2: softball coach trisia Ford. He usually comes to a couple
- 18:20Speaker 2: of games every year, So you'd like to see that
- 18:24Speaker 2: among coaches that respect what the other does. And it's
- 18:28Speaker 2: just hard when they're having their seasons, and you can
- 18:30Speaker 2: be honest with football Mike, Mike Elko goes twenty four
- 18:35Speaker 2: to seven, so it's hard. He doesn't really have that
- 18:38Speaker 2: much of a vacation, so these are times when he
- 18:41Speaker 2: can relax as well and have a good team. Oh
- 18:44Speaker 2: my gosh, is that Louis Blina? Is it celebrity day?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Like you said, Chip Howard was in here earlier and
- 18:49Speaker 2: Louis and is the Louis Bellina right, Oh my god.
- 18:53Speaker 7: Hey, I need to get a guest appearance when he's
- 18:55Speaker 7: testing these Bluebell flavors with Tony Catalina. Oh really, they've been,
- 19:00Speaker 7: they've been. They've been getting these ice cream reviews over
- 19:03Speaker 7: the last few months and blue Belt and they've got
- 19:08Speaker 7: They've got a good nil deal with Bluebell apparently.
- 19:11Speaker 2: So it looks like Louis's been going to the A
- 19:13Speaker 2: and M workouts. He looks like he's in shape. I
- 19:17Speaker 2: mean hopefully he sharpened his mind too with the body,
- 19:20Speaker 2: so we'll see how that works. So hopefully we'll get
- 19:23Speaker 2: him on PROG panel again this year. And I can't
- 19:26Speaker 2: think if I was ahead of him this year or
- 19:28Speaker 2: not that that was I put last year behind. I'm
- 19:30Speaker 2: just worried about this year.
- 19:32Speaker 7: Look, the only there's one thing that matters in Prague.
- 19:35Speaker 7: Well there's two things. If you get on the top row,
- 19:38Speaker 7: that's a win, right, But the thing that matters the most.
- 19:41Speaker 7: Do not finish behind the dog. Don't finish behind the dog.
- 19:45Speaker 7: And so far I may not have been on the
- 19:48Speaker 7: front row every year, but I have not finished behind
- 19:50Speaker 7: the dog in my three years doing progue and.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Here's uh you talk about much like a football season.
- 19:57Speaker 2: A lot of people, when I do talk to the
- 19:58Speaker 2: masking and beyond the panel whatever, they want to be
- 20:01Speaker 2: Chip Howard. So I give Chip props for you know,
- 20:04Speaker 2: be having that rep. A lot of people want to
- 20:07Speaker 2: beat him, and adding Louis the last few years, I
- 20:10Speaker 2: know a lot of people want to beat Louie too.
- 20:13Speaker 2: So when you you you want to be where people
- 20:16Speaker 2: want to be. You want to be that Nick Saban
- 20:18Speaker 2: whatever you do, you want to have that people have
- 20:21Speaker 2: that edge, and you want to be the best producer
- 20:24Speaker 2: and top this guy off. You know, you got a
- 20:26Speaker 2: ways to go. Man, stand a man, you got to
- 20:29Speaker 2: you gotta. You're falling the legend there in the producer's world,
- 20:32Speaker 2: so him.
- 20:33Speaker 7: You've also just reminded me though that my dad's approval
- 20:37Speaker 7: of me over the next four months is about to
- 20:39Speaker 7: be determined abound where I'm standing in the prog panel.
- 20:43Speaker 2: So well, that along with and sometimes it's funny because
- 20:49Speaker 2: media gets reflected what the team you're covering is doing.
- 20:54Speaker 2: It's like if A and M has another great years.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Oh man, you read the legal or day? Did you
- 21:00Speaker 2: turn on KBTX, did you watch Tech sag oh Man.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Whereas if they lose someone man that's Susana sucks, so
- 21:09Speaker 2: does Miller. Louis doesn't know Louis and Luci, they don't
- 21:13Speaker 2: know what they're talking about. It's amazing what wins and
- 21:16Speaker 2: losses will do or not do for the media. And
- 21:20Speaker 2: I was given this for a reason, and that means.
- 21:24Speaker 10: We'll be right back inco Insurance is now a part
- 21:28Speaker 10: of Hub International, bringing you more choices, better value, and

- 21:43Speaker 10: most with the personalized service you expect now with the
- 21:46Speaker 10: strength of Hub International behind us, more resources, more solutions,
- 21:51Speaker 10: still your team and co Insurance a Hub International company,
- 21:54Speaker 10: so you're ready for tomorrow.
- 21:56Speaker 5: The Louis Belina Show presented by CC.
- 21:58Speaker 11: Electric Brett need to know your how you rank strength
- 22:03Speaker 11: of conferences? Do you need the national champ? Is it
- 22:06Speaker 11: about your middle and bottom? Because you know that's the
- 22:09Speaker 11: SEC versus Big ten debate?
- 22:10Speaker 9: Right, Yeah, Yeah, that's how it goes. Trust me. I
- 22:13Speaker 9: hear about it all three hundred and sixty five days
- 22:15Speaker 9: there on Twitter. It's the never ending battle. Yeah. So
- 22:19Speaker 9: a couple of different ways you can look at it, And
- 22:21Speaker 9: I mean some people just look off the who wins.
- 22:23Speaker 2: The national title.
- 22:24Speaker 9: If that's the case, then how come nobody told told
- 22:27Speaker 9: us that the ACC was the hardest when Clemson kept
- 22:29Speaker 9: winning national titles. I think it goes deeper than just
- 22:31Speaker 9: who wins the national title. The way that I like
- 22:34Speaker 9: to do it is how many teams you know are
- 22:36Speaker 9: playoff contenders? Because we saw last year it's just getting
- 22:40Speaker 9: into the bracket and see what happens. Sometimes it's the
- 22:42Speaker 9: crap shoot, you know, who gets hot in January, who's
- 22:45Speaker 9: dealing with injuries? Or now, I hate to say it,
- 22:48Speaker 9: but coaching changes. I think the SEC still because hang
- 22:51Speaker 9: out with.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Louis weekdays eleven to two on the z on elevel
- 22:54Speaker 5: and fifty AM and ninety three point seven FM.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Out in the s EXAs town of al Passo. Good song.
- 23:14Speaker 7: I wouldn't have picked that one for you.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's great.
- 23:18Speaker 8: Time would find me in Roses Canteen music would play
- 23:22Speaker 8: and nude.
- 23:25Speaker 7: See when we go on road trips, you. I always
- 23:28Speaker 7: ask you, what do you want to listen to? And
- 23:30Speaker 7: you're kind of just like love that song?
- 23:31Speaker 5: I love?
- 23:32Speaker 2: They did another one. Uh, they did a lot of
- 23:34Speaker 2: songs with the cantina. Did you think of their name? Right,
- 23:37Speaker 2: Jane Americans?
- 23:38Speaker 7: Right, this is Marty Robbins. But the remake of it.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Somewhat okay, And that voice you hear, it's like anybody
- 23:52Speaker 2: that knows me's gonna shock this. I forgot Caleb's name,
- 23:57Speaker 2: you know, And and I said first, like I said,
- 23:59Speaker 2: I know your name, Biblical Connor. You know, it's like
- 24:03Speaker 2: wherever you seeing Connor in the Bible, maybe the one
- 24:06Speaker 2: you lost, Maybe it's that you left. Maybe it's that
- 24:09Speaker 2: Bible you left.
- 24:09Speaker 7: It in the message Bible.
- 24:11Speaker 2: What's up?
- 24:12Speaker 7: Could be the message bable?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Okay, he left in our room. He left his Bible
- 24:16Speaker 2: in the room, and I left my dress shoes and
- 24:20Speaker 2: some people say I probably left my brains there, but.
- 24:22Speaker 7: Yeah, and your phone in the ubercr but I.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Got that right back. Yeah. Other than that was a
- 24:28Speaker 2: great trip, you know, Yeah, I didn't leave my phone
- 24:31Speaker 2: in the uber car. That was that was panic time.
- 24:34Speaker 7: That was an all times cease cease moment. And the
- 24:37Speaker 7: funniest part was, you know, ceases in the hotel lobby
- 24:40Speaker 7: trying to figure out what to do, and here comes
- 24:42Speaker 7: the woman who was the next passenger, and she goes,
- 24:45Speaker 7: is this your phone didn't ce Yes?
- 24:48Speaker 2: The guy that helped me at the Marriotte, really nice guy.
- 24:54Speaker 7: He helped us several times.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and when we checked in, he.
- 24:57Speaker 7: Probably thought these bozos have no clue how to When.
- 25:00Speaker 2: We checked in, my credit card was declined, which it
- 25:04Speaker 2: shouldn't have been. And this wasn't my fault. But of
- 25:06Speaker 2: course when your credit card gets declined, you just we
- 25:09Speaker 2: just flew in from Austin. I go, what uh? And
- 25:13Speaker 2: so this guy was real nice. I can't believe that.
- 25:15Speaker 2: So I had to call my wife make sure whatever,
- 25:17Speaker 2: make a long story shirt. So we got all worked
- 25:18Speaker 2: out and it was my fault. So when I leave
- 25:21Speaker 2: my credit card in the in the uber, we see Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
- 25:27Speaker 2: four days later, I go into and the guys and
- 25:30Speaker 2: the guy's working the desk again and I go, you're
- 25:33Speaker 2: not gonna believe this, LaMarcus. But I just let my
- 25:36Speaker 2: phone in the uber and he was never missed to be.
- 25:39Speaker 2: He goes, oh, we'll work on that. Mister says, it's
- 25:42Speaker 2: really nice, guy, just it's it's nice. And I said,
- 25:46Speaker 2: you know, on this trip, I told him you're my
- 25:48Speaker 2: guardian angel and I need lots of them, and he
- 25:51Speaker 2: was laughing.
- 25:52Speaker 7: You know, when Seas retires, all the fun stories could
- 25:57Speaker 7: be put into a book of all the crazy shenanigans
- 26:00Speaker 7: that went down on these trips.
- 26:02Speaker 2: But you know the word ceases in the Bible too.
- 26:05Speaker 2: You know a lot of times some people say, I
- 26:08Speaker 2: need to see what I'm doing right now. But Caleb, Caleb,
- 26:11Speaker 2: if you want to text this or I want to
- 26:13Speaker 2: give a shout out to Caleb the biblical name, and
- 26:17Speaker 2: uh not Caleb and and Abel or Cain and Abel
- 26:21Speaker 2: Caleb and Jacob or Joshua. But it's ninety seven nine
- 26:25Speaker 2: six nine oh eleven fifty right, I think sixt nine
- 26:29Speaker 2: three close enough. They know where they're at. But anyway,
- 26:32Speaker 2: and Alex is here and stand the man and uh Riley,
- 26:37Speaker 2: I hope we've got more listeners than we got people
- 26:39Speaker 2: in the office. I mean, Louis counts as a fourth.
- 26:42Speaker 2: He went by, so man, we I should have brought
- 26:45Speaker 2: food for everybody. But anyway, moving forward one place. Unfortunately,
- 26:51Speaker 2: Alex and I will not be next week, and we
- 26:54Speaker 2: offered to go. We wouldn't have been have any hesitations.
- 26:58Speaker 2: The A and M men's basket ball team gets to
- 27:01Speaker 2: go play some exhibition games over in the Bahamas. I've
- 27:07Speaker 2: never been to Bahamas. Jessica has been the Bahamas countless
- 27:10Speaker 2: time since their mother's from there, but I've never been
- 27:12Speaker 2: to the Bahmas.
- 27:13Speaker 7: I've never been either. But hey, this is the first
- 27:16Speaker 7: of two trips that the men's basketball team has taken
- 27:19Speaker 7: Obahamas because they're playing in that tournament over Thanksgiving week
- 27:23Speaker 7: as well. No, this is a really good thing, I
- 27:26Speaker 7: think for Bucky McMillan's team, because, look, the fact of
- 27:30Speaker 7: the matter is that last year it took him about
- 27:34Speaker 7: a month to really get going and figure things out,
- 27:37Speaker 7: and this just gives them some, you know, game experience
- 27:42Speaker 7: to get a new group gelling together, playing with one another.
- 27:48Speaker 7: Mackenzie and Bacco's back from injury, Zach Clements is coming
- 27:52Speaker 7: back from a little bit of a minor foot deal
- 27:55Speaker 7: that he had to have surgery on. They've got a
- 27:59Speaker 7: ton of incoming talent. They did a phenomenal job in
- 28:03Speaker 7: the transfer portal, as I'm sure Chips listeners remember hearing
- 28:07Speaker 7: about in the spring, But this is a great chance
- 28:11Speaker 7: for them to go down and just have a good
- 28:13Speaker 7: team bonding experience and get to get to work as
- 28:17Speaker 7: a team as well.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Most important, is there one thing you think is more
- 28:25Speaker 2: important than the other that Bucky's looking to get accomplished
- 28:30Speaker 2: gone down there.
- 28:31Speaker 7: I really just think that that they just need the
- 28:34Speaker 7: game reps so that when the season starts they can
- 28:38Speaker 7: hit the ground running. And I think that they've got
- 28:43Speaker 7: they've got a really solid non conference schedule, and not
- 28:47Speaker 7: that not that they suffered any horrific losses last year,
- 28:52Speaker 7: but maybe they if they play a team like Oklahoma State,
- 28:56Speaker 7: they won't lose by twenty seven because they're out of sorts.
- 28:59Speaker 7: Or if they're playing a team like Central Florida and
- 29:02Speaker 7: they've got a twelve point lead in the second half,
- 29:04Speaker 7: like they're not going to surrender that and lose that game.
- 29:07Speaker 7: And maybe that's the difference between a seed line or two.
- 29:09Speaker 7: When it gets to March and you're looking at non
- 29:12Speaker 7: conference resume, holistic body of work, that maybe that's two
- 29:16Speaker 7: more wins quad win wins and on your your your
- 29:20Speaker 7: team sheet that gets you a seed line or two.
- 29:24Speaker 7: Up on selection Sunday.
- 29:27Speaker 2: If I'm not mistaken, I looked this up when I
- 29:29Speaker 2: did go to a couple of BUCkies presses when you
- 29:32Speaker 2: were on your honeymoon vacation. I think all programs are
- 29:37Speaker 2: allowed to take one foreign trip now every year. It
- 29:39Speaker 2: used to be like once every four years.
- 29:41Speaker 7: Correct.
- 29:41Speaker 2: So my question is how many you think of SEC
- 29:44Speaker 2: of conference out there in the Cunning Edge? You know
- 29:48Speaker 2: how many approximately the sixteen or taking one of those
- 29:51Speaker 2: trips this year? Is a lot of them? Or you
- 29:53Speaker 2: don't know.
- 29:53Speaker 7: I'll be honest, I haven't really looked into it because
- 29:56Speaker 7: I've been away, but I'm interested to know. But on
- 29:59Speaker 7: one hand, like if they're gonna lot you to do
- 30:01Speaker 7: that and you're an SEC program, I mean, I don't
- 30:03Speaker 7: see why you wouldn't because yeah, it's a win win,
- 30:08Speaker 7: And I mean I don't think anybody's gonna complain about
- 30:11Speaker 7: getting to go to the Bambas for five weeks and
- 30:13Speaker 7: get to play three games of basketball with your buddies.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I wouldn't. I know, some people in my wife's office
- 30:20Speaker 2: is gone, and you know this would be a good
- 30:23Speaker 2: time for honor if Gary Blair's gone. So you can
- 30:25Speaker 2: set up and standing and coach from the stands, you know,
- 30:28Speaker 2: like like we do, like make decisions and be a
- 30:31Speaker 2: great place to And I know Gary's got a busy
- 30:35Speaker 2: schedule all the time, but he's given up his guest
- 30:39Speaker 2: celebrity hitting deal, so he won't be taking a few
- 30:42Speaker 2: swings at the Bombers game. So I know he does
- 30:44Speaker 2: have some time left in his clock, so i'd imagine
- 30:47Speaker 2: he'd go down to the Bahamas and help help Bucky out.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I imagine trev Alberts is gone. I mean I'd find
- 30:54Speaker 2: a way to get to the Bahamas.
- 30:56Speaker 7: Well, if Bucky or any one of their staffs listening
- 30:58Speaker 7: on an extra spot on the play and you want
- 31:01Speaker 7: a reporter to go, give me a call.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think that that schedule. I saw their playing.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I don't think they'll have any problem with those teams
- 31:11Speaker 2: when you look at the talent that A and M has,
- 31:15Speaker 2: and we'll we'll see what happens. Any update on the
- 31:21Speaker 2: guard former A and M players, what they might be
- 31:25Speaker 2: doing in the summer leagues, You got any any any
- 31:27Speaker 2: scoop on that or any inside.
- 31:29Speaker 7: At all, nothing too crazy. You know, I know that
- 31:33Speaker 7: several were playing in the summer rashwan Age had signed
- 31:37Speaker 7: with with one of the Summer League teams, Wade Taylor
- 31:40Speaker 7: and Anderson Garcia. They were back together playing in the
- 31:44Speaker 7: Summer League, and you know, I think the thing about
- 31:47Speaker 7: those guys is that they're just such hard workers that
- 31:51Speaker 7: if they stay at it, they're going to get a
- 31:53Speaker 7: chance to compete and get a chance. I mean they
- 31:57Speaker 7: to me, those type of guys, they're kind of cut
- 31:59Speaker 7: from this same cloth as Alice Caruso, who, as we know,
- 32:03Speaker 7: it took him a few years to get to the league,
- 32:04Speaker 7: but now that he got there, I mean, oh my gosh.
- 32:07Speaker 7: I mean, what a story Caruso has been. And so
- 32:10Speaker 7: it would not surprise me if four or five years
- 32:13Speaker 7: down the road one of those guys has has a
- 32:16Speaker 7: similar path of that nature, just because of you know,
- 32:20Speaker 7: the work ethic that those guys bring to the court.
- 32:22Speaker 2: What's funny is, I want to say, whatever the situation was,
- 32:25Speaker 2: I watched maybe three minutes of the last Summer League
- 32:32Speaker 2: game of the year, which was his championship, and I
- 32:34Speaker 2: even forget who was in it. But I had to
- 32:36Speaker 2: laugh because you do pay attention because like you said
- 32:39Speaker 2: of Crusoe, I always remember we were paying a little
- 32:42Speaker 2: more attention because it's a hometowm boy. It wasn't just
- 32:44Speaker 2: you know, a n Aggie. You know he was, We
- 32:47Speaker 2: covered him in high school and here he is. You
- 32:49Speaker 2: pay a little more attention to the summer league. But
- 32:52Speaker 2: I was laughing that summer league they gave away rings.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Those players got huge rings for winning the NBA Summer
- 33:02Speaker 2: Championship League championship. And I looked and like most of
- 33:05Speaker 2: those teams played six games or whatever. For like six games,
- 33:08Speaker 2: you go five and one and you get a ring,
- 33:11Speaker 2: And I go like, oh my gosh, I wonder if
- 33:14Speaker 2: Bucky's team will get rings for going down and win
- 33:16Speaker 2: the Bahamas, you know that three games. I just laugh
- 33:19Speaker 2: at certain things and I go, that's how much money
- 33:22Speaker 2: the NBA as They're given rings to these rookies for
- 33:25Speaker 2: what in the summer league. I don't know if you
- 33:27Speaker 2: saw that, but I just died laughing.
- 33:28Speaker 7: Now I didn't. You know what did come out this
- 33:31Speaker 7: week though? Where the SEC men's basketball schedule dates?
- 33:34Speaker 2: Oh and it was yesterday.
- 33:36Speaker 7: Yeah, AM's got a really good homeslate when you when
- 33:39Speaker 7: you look at it, they've also got a They just
- 33:42Speaker 7: got a pretty challenging schedule in general, I mean, gotta
- 33:46Speaker 7: play Texas twice. They got to play Vanderbilt twice. Texas
- 33:50Speaker 7: man Sean Miller did good work in the portal and.
- 33:53Speaker 2: No, he did great work. And I know that the
- 33:55Speaker 2: people we got it.
- 33:57Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean he he did a phenomenal and what
- 34:00Speaker 7: he did last year with that team too, I mean
- 34:03Speaker 7: they were just so up and down and then I
- 34:05Speaker 7: mean they were they were one shot away from getting
- 34:09Speaker 7: to the Elite eight. And so uh, Aam's gonna have
- 34:13Speaker 7: a really good home schedule for men's basketball this year.
- 34:17Speaker 7: And uh, you gotta be excited for what buck he's building.
- 34:21Speaker 7: I mean it's it's fun to watch. He's very personable
- 34:27Speaker 7: and look it got to the second round of the
- 34:29Speaker 7: NSA A Tournament his first year as head coach. Uh
- 34:32Speaker 7: that that's something to build on.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Yeah, the last time I did the show is Uh,
- 34:36Speaker 2: Bucky's the kind of guy I think you have a
- 34:40Speaker 2: chance to see him sometimes out in the community. I'm
- 34:44Speaker 2: not gonna say he's gonna show up at your kid's
- 34:46Speaker 2: little league game or that, but I just think, uh,
- 34:50Speaker 2: he's got the personality. He's going to be seen win
- 34:54Speaker 2: or lose, and you can interact with him.
- 34:56Speaker 7: He's approachable. I think he's very approachable.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I think Buzz was too much of a recluse that
- 35:02Speaker 2: infamous deal and he said they weren't going to church
- 35:06Speaker 2: because uh, you know, just people recognize like who he
- 35:10Speaker 2: was or whatever. That's if you feel that there's certain
- 35:13Speaker 2: things maybe you shouldn't share on the air or different
- 35:16Speaker 2: things like that, because this is this is your community.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I see all these eyes staring at me up here,
- 35:21Speaker 2: like there's too many people up here. But anyway, so
- 35:23Speaker 2: I was just laughing. But but you know, that was
- 35:26Speaker 2: sharing too much. And I think Bucky's the kind of
- 35:28Speaker 2: guy is if you're filling your car up with gas
- 35:30Speaker 2: and you go like, hey, it looks like Bucky the
- 35:34Speaker 2: best you need to go a lot. Yeah, probably give
- 35:37Speaker 2: you a hug.
- 35:37Speaker 7: Come over, man, what's yeah?
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, what's up?
- 35:40Speaker 9: You know?
- 35:40Speaker 2: I mean that's the kind of guy is so uh
- 35:43Speaker 2: you want that in a Brian college station. I get it.
- 35:45Speaker 2: This is a quarter of a million people. But still
- 35:48Speaker 2: there are certain people in this town that you recognize.
- 35:53Speaker 2: And uh, when I went to I went to supper
- 35:57Speaker 2: on Saturday night with my with my youngest daughter. She
- 36:01Speaker 2: got a charge out of I said, you know, there's
- 36:02Speaker 2: a lot of people with the softball game, and you
- 36:05Speaker 2: know it's like people always come and go hey see no, no,
- 36:08Speaker 2: no no. And one guy comes and goes, hey, Tom,
- 36:11Speaker 2: good to see you, and I go, hey, good to
- 36:12Speaker 2: see you too. Obviously thought I was Tom Turboiville. We'll
- 36:15Speaker 2: be right back after this time out.

- 38:23Speaker 2: You know little Kathy.
- 38:24Speaker 4: You see the other side of the boarder. Here's the
- 38:30Speaker 4: sitting there giving me looks.
- 38:33Speaker 2: That me and my mouth water.
- 38:35Speaker 4: Oh, doctor Wallie, and he's will to that man who
- 38:43Speaker 4: say and I knew as I knew I seem but
- 38:48Speaker 4: I heard a say.
- 38:51Speaker 7: Come on, says to you.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Ho se a Marcot all right, way go Taylor co Americans.
- 38:59Speaker 2: They have another one too.
- 39:01Speaker 7: I think you need a trial for the church choir.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Funny you know, no, you don't. When I went to
- 39:08Speaker 2: the uh you talk about what you're known for a
- 39:11Speaker 2: little bit. I went to Nazarene Church for a couple
- 39:13Speaker 2: of decades and they would always either get me to
- 39:16Speaker 2: sing off key on purpose, I mean, just be myself.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And when we did the ten twelve days of Christmas,
- 39:25Speaker 2: I got to do fun So I had five what
- 39:32Speaker 2: twelve days of Christmas?
- 39:33Speaker 7: Yah? Yeah, yeah, And it was a joke. I wanted
- 39:35Speaker 7: you to do it again.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Oh and everybody was laughing when I got to And
- 39:40Speaker 2: so its it served its purpose. God did not give
- 39:44Speaker 2: me a good singing voice. There's a lot of things
- 39:47Speaker 2: he didn't give me. But I'm making best use of
- 39:49Speaker 2: what I have.
- 39:50Speaker 7: A voice for print, as they'd say.
- 39:51Speaker 2: A voice a face for print.
- 39:53Speaker 7: It's too bad you wore your shirt for radio today too.
- 39:56Speaker 7: Mister Hawaiian tropic.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Yeah, what I'm doing is I'm going through my older
- 40:02Speaker 2: wardrobe to know which ones I need to keep and
- 40:04Speaker 2: which ones I need to get away. I've got about
- 40:06Speaker 2: thirty some Hawaiian shirts at least thanks to the wife
- 40:10Speaker 2: and the girls. And Randy can't forget my fellow male
- 40:15Speaker 2: compadre in the in the family tree. So anyway, you're
- 40:19Speaker 2: back hour back on Chip Howard's Sports talkshaw We've got
- 40:24Speaker 2: Alex Miller, you go along with Robert So, we got
- 40:28Speaker 2: Bible boy Caleb working the board and stand the Man,
- 40:31Speaker 2: and we've got Riley. Riley is not Biblical. I don't
- 40:35Speaker 2: know where that came from. So Riley, so glad you
- 40:40Speaker 2: could join us for what day is today? Day is Tuesday?
- 40:43Speaker 7: Today's Tuesday. Why don't you give us your final thoughts
- 40:45Speaker 7: on the aus CEL Championship at Davis Diamond this weekend?
- 40:48Speaker 2: Thank you, mister Miller. Anyway, I wondered how the AUSL
- 40:55Speaker 2: the Athletes Unlimited Softball League would do or is my
- 40:59Speaker 2: co other co Jake, We pointed out one time, I
- 41:02Speaker 2: call it the in the paper of the Athletes Limited
- 41:05Speaker 2: Softball League. But you know, hey, everything has has two
- 41:10Speaker 2: sides on it. Professional softball coming to Brian College station.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I would give it a huge A for the weekend
- 41:18Speaker 2: I missed the playing game. I was at SEC media
- 41:22Speaker 2: days were flying home, flying home, and three Aggies were
- 41:28Speaker 2: involved in the playing game. You had Torri Vidallas, longtime
- 41:35Speaker 2: professional player going on a decade now.
- 41:39Speaker 7: She's had quite a successful pro career.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Crit a career, cred a career, and you always wondered
- 41:44Speaker 2: when professional softball came around, how these athletes when they
- 41:48Speaker 2: were so good And this is the same way in
- 41:51Speaker 2: baseball from eighteen to twenty two. When they're playing in
- 41:56Speaker 2: like the SEC, the Big twelve, a power conference like this,
- 41:59Speaker 2: they've playing since they were seven years old and travel
- 42:02Speaker 2: ball to get here, and some of them did burn
- 42:04Speaker 2: out along the road, and you'd wonder what they're gonna
- 42:07Speaker 2: do at the next level. And as you mentioned, Tory
- 42:09Speaker 2: v Dallas has been a the pro. And when Lisa Fernandez,
- 42:14Speaker 2: if you don't know college softball, look up, as I
- 42:18Speaker 2: would say, Kurtnetti, just just google Lisa Fernandez. She's synonymous
- 42:23Speaker 2: with winning softball. She is the GM for the Utah
- 42:27Speaker 2: Talows back to back champions and when she talked about
- 42:31Speaker 2: coming back for second year. One of the players she
- 42:33Speaker 2: hated to lose through the expansion Draft was Tory Vadallas
- 42:37Speaker 2: that went to the Portland Cascade. So once again, when
- 42:40Speaker 2: somebody hates somebody that caliber hates to lose you. But
- 42:43Speaker 2: she had a great career. And then Mac Barbara, who
- 42:45Speaker 2: only played an A and Them one year she was
- 42:47Speaker 2: on the Chicago Bandits. But and here Kennedy poll when
- 42:52Speaker 2: I covered Kennedy Poell, this was she was a senior
- 42:54Speaker 2: this last year at A and M. Great ballplayer, great leader,
- 43:00Speaker 2: great person, the thing that you always like, at least
- 43:03Speaker 2: I do, Alex. I know you cover baseball, about covering
- 43:07Speaker 2: diamond sport. They play so many games you get to
- 43:10Speaker 2: talk to the players. They can't hide who they are.
- 43:14Speaker 2: This is who they are. And she's a perfect teammate,
- 43:18Speaker 2: hard worker and what have you? And I said, she
- 43:21Speaker 2: had an All American year. But people who bat four
- 43:26Speaker 2: to ten and all they do is have singles, play
- 43:30Speaker 2: the infield, not a lot of home runs. They're not
- 43:32Speaker 2: going to make All American. It's just the way it goes.
- 43:35Speaker 2: She didn't steal forty bases to go what have you?
- 43:38Speaker 2: And I really wondered if she was gonna make it
- 43:40Speaker 2: as a pro and here it all and beyond rookie
- 43:42Speaker 2: and she was a starter the whole year for a cascade,
- 43:47Speaker 2: better in the high two eighties, whatever, but just a
- 43:49Speaker 2: great year. And that's what you're looking at this level.
- 43:52Speaker 2: And so when I saw the games in Montana Files,
- 43:56Speaker 2: I was very impressed. Montana Files as a collegiate.
- 43:59Speaker 7: Pitcher, Oh so good at Alabama.
- 44:02Speaker 2: And then you watch her now that she's been out.
- 44:06Speaker 2: I think they said she's now twenty eight or what
- 44:09Speaker 2: have you, and they've really won two championships. She's the
- 44:14Speaker 2: lead cog. But once again, is to see the caliber play.
- 44:18Speaker 2: All these women that I saw play in SEC or
- 44:23Speaker 2: major college softball have elevated their game. And once again
- 44:27Speaker 2: it's like they were that good. It's like the fire
- 44:33Speaker 2: and something falls into forest. Did you hear it? Well,
- 44:36Speaker 2: now there's a falling for softball. When you saw ninety
- 44:40Speaker 2: five degrees out there, people are sweating profusely. There's probably
- 44:47Speaker 2: I'd love to know how many people are there. You know,
- 44:49Speaker 2: I said sell out, But what a sellout mean? Was
- 44:51Speaker 2: there twenty two thousand? There was there twenty two hundred?
- 44:53Speaker 2: Was there eighteen hundred. I would say there were hundreds
- 44:57Speaker 2: that had seats that were standing in the concourse because
- 45:00Speaker 2: it was ten to fifteen degrees warmer. And these people
- 45:04Speaker 2: are just fanning themselves crazy. But they're there because of
- 45:08Speaker 2: the caliber of softball, because they're bringing their kids out.
- 45:11Speaker 2: It's a fast game, two hours three hours at the most.
- 45:15Speaker 2: So that being said is I give the AUSL a
- 45:20Speaker 2: lot of credit, and I andrew Major League Baseball as
- 45:23Speaker 2: a partner. It's like the WNBA hooking up with the NBA.
- 45:26Speaker 2: You got to have a good leader, and they market
- 45:29Speaker 2: it well. You saw all the kids out there. I
- 45:32Speaker 2: mean they made it killing the concessions. Then they made
- 45:34Speaker 2: a killing at the Souverirs. They went to Alabama last year.
- 45:39Speaker 2: I look for them next year. Maybe go to Tennessee.
- 45:42Speaker 2: You would go to places that love college football, I
- 45:45Speaker 2: mean college softball. And you're right, I gotta pay attention
- 45:48Speaker 2: to the time. God just called Caleb. I can I'll
- 45:54Speaker 2: finish this when we get back. Who knows what song
- 45:57Speaker 2: you're called?

- 47:09Speaker 12: It was a rough start for the Houston Astros last night,
- 47:12Speaker 12: as the Angels scored two in the first inning, forcing
- 47:15Speaker 12: Tatsuya Imai to leave the game. The Angels added two
- 47:19Speaker 12: more in the third to make it four to nothing. However,
- 47:22Speaker 12: the Astros wouldn't back down, scoring one in the fourth
- 47:24Speaker 12: with a Taylor Tremmel homer. The score would remain four
- 47:28Speaker 12: to one until the eighth inning, when Jordan Alvarez had
- 47:31Speaker 12: an RBI single to cut the lead to two. In
- 47:34Speaker 12: the ninth inning, the Astros took advantage of Angel's mistakes
- 47:37Speaker 12: and played in four runs to win the game with
- 47:40Speaker 12: the final score of six to four. The win went
- 47:42Speaker 12: to Christian Javier, while Josh had recorded the save. With
- 47:47Speaker 12: the victory, the Astros improved to fifty three and fifty
- 47:49Speaker 12: five on the season. In Game two of the series
- 47:52Speaker 12: is tonight with first pitch schedule for eight thirty eight.
- 47:56Speaker 12: With your Houston Astros report, I'm Dylan Moore.

- 49:17Speaker 2: say I'm married. You got a long way to go,

- 49:27Speaker 2: Well, there we go, there we go, and Caleb is
- 49:30Speaker 2: working the board and he's teaching Stan all the right
- 49:34Speaker 2: things to do while I'm doing all the wrong things.
- 49:38Speaker 2: To see when Stan takes over the board, we'll see
- 49:40Speaker 2: if he can take control. So glad you can join us.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Right now, I'm going to finish my thoughts on the
- 49:47Speaker 2: AUSL great, great weekend. Hard to believe you. I think
- 49:55Speaker 2: about a lot of things I can remember, and so
- 49:57Speaker 2: can your mother. Remember when we set out at AG
- 50:00Speaker 2: Softball Complex, I mean, you think and Lisa Fernande and
- 50:04Speaker 2: now you look at Davis Diamond and Lisa Nandez is
- 50:09Speaker 2: no spring chicken though she's younger than me. And so
- 50:11Speaker 2: we got done doing the main interview and I said, hey,
- 50:14Speaker 2: I've been here for five decades. I covered A and
- 50:17Speaker 2: M softball games when they were out at b Creek
- 50:21Speaker 2: and when they were out in the city parking, because
- 50:23Speaker 2: oh wow, yeah, you know, she's heard the horror story.
- 50:26Speaker 2: So when A and M and they had money, Davis
- 50:28Speaker 2: thought one of the pitches, So what A and M
- 50:31Speaker 2: was done in softball? But also I was going to
- 50:33Speaker 2: tie this in when you were talking about, you know,
- 50:36Speaker 2: A and M's great basketball schedule, that they have the
- 50:40Speaker 2: beauty of a men's basketball playing Texas twice, really the
- 50:44Speaker 2: beauty of Texas softball winning two championships. Defunk the thunk,
- 50:50Speaker 2: the the throning, the throning, Oklahoma A and M wants
- 50:56Speaker 2: to be right there to the same place Texas is,
- 50:58Speaker 2: whether it's men's basketball, whether it's women's basketball or softball.
- 51:02Speaker 2: And uh, Treasure Ford has done a great job in
- 51:06Speaker 2: her time here, but Mike White has come in and
- 51:09Speaker 2: done a better job. And nothing beats the SEC. And
- 51:12Speaker 2: I said to what's great about the SEC is A
- 51:15Speaker 2: and MS can't focus anymore just on Texas. You got
- 51:18Speaker 2: to focus on the whole country. But yet you got
- 51:23Speaker 2: to beat your rival well.
- 51:25Speaker 7: And Adam took a huge step forward this last year
- 51:27Speaker 7: by winning the Lone Star Showdown, the All Sports competition.
- 51:30Speaker 7: I mean that was that's a huge deal. Frame that's
- 51:32Speaker 7: one in years and beating Texas matters to the Haggies
- 51:36Speaker 7: a lot.
- 51:37Speaker 2: And I was going to tie that into you. You
- 51:39Speaker 2: were going to talk about volleyballs just around the corner
- 51:41Speaker 2: when you talk about people who have elevated programs, because
- 51:46Speaker 2: Texas for years has been a championship volleyball program. Because
- 51:50Speaker 2: a lot of times when I think of volleyball, and
- 51:53Speaker 2: I'm just a novice person, I think of Nebraska, I
- 51:57Speaker 2: think of Penn State, I think of Wisconsin. In Texas
- 52:01Speaker 2: and now A and M is a national champion.
- 52:03Speaker 7: Yeah. I mean, what Jamie Morrison has done with the
- 52:06Speaker 7: A and volleyball program is just incredible. I mean, and
- 52:10Speaker 7: what he's what he is building, not only what he
- 52:13Speaker 7: built in three years, but what he's building for in
- 52:16Speaker 7: the years to come. I think it's gonna be sustainable.
- 52:20Speaker 7: This isn't just a one hit wonder now aam's gonna have.
- 52:24Speaker 7: They got a lot of holes to fill, and it's
- 52:26Speaker 7: gonna be a young, but talented team this year that's
- 52:29Speaker 7: led by a couple of veterans and people like Kendall Stowers,
- 52:32Speaker 7: and they got they got some really good pieces out
- 52:34Speaker 7: of the transfer portal. But what Jamie's doing is just phenomenal.
- 52:40Speaker 7: And you talk about softball being exciting, women's volleyball is
- 52:45Speaker 7: extremely exciting. You know, Jamie's talked about how you know,
- 52:49Speaker 7: in the sport, it crescendo's up to that twenty fifth
- 52:51Speaker 7: point in a set. Right you go to a match.
- 52:54Speaker 7: The longest matches are just over two hours. It goes
- 52:57Speaker 7: very quick, it's it's high paced, it's easy to follow,
- 53:03Speaker 7: and you can see that people here have really gravitated
- 53:08Speaker 7: toward that just by how the crowd started growing throughout
- 53:11Speaker 7: last season, and you got to think that A and
- 53:14Speaker 7: M's gonna have some big attendance games. You mentioned Wisconsin.
- 53:17Speaker 7: That's A and m's big non conference game at home
- 53:21Speaker 7: the night before A and M football host Arizona State
- 53:24Speaker 7: on September twelfth, which, by the way, they announced today
- 53:26Speaker 7: it's going to be a red, white, and Blue game
- 53:29Speaker 7: honoring two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the United States
- 53:32Speaker 7: and the twenty fifth, you know, anniversary of nine to eleven.
- 53:34Speaker 7: So it's gonna be another big volleyball season, of course
- 53:39Speaker 7: for Jamie, and I wouldn't be surprised if you know,
- 53:43Speaker 7: A and M's able to replicate some of the success
- 53:45Speaker 7: that they got last year in the years to come.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Well, what you like is the sport stands on itself.
- 53:52Speaker 2: I consider myself a local guy all the way. I'd
- 53:54Speaker 2: go out and need one meal a day, whether I
- 53:57Speaker 2: need it or not. And it's amazing. Many people talked
- 54:01Speaker 2: to me and said, well, hey, I went to volleyball
- 54:02Speaker 2: games last year for really the first time, and they
- 54:05Speaker 2: they're hooked and everybody likes a winner, and like you say,
- 54:10Speaker 2: is and I get it. A lot of people don't
- 54:13Speaker 2: want to see softball or women's basketball, or you know,
- 54:16Speaker 2: I like hockey. People don't like hockey, but it's amazing
- 54:19Speaker 2: what winning will do. Winning brings people out and then
- 54:23Speaker 2: when you see it's an entertaining, exciting way of sport.
- 54:26Speaker 2: As you mentioned, I've never been a huge volleyball fan,
- 54:31Speaker 2: but I had to start covering more high school games
- 54:34Speaker 2: as I get older. And you know, most all those
- 54:37Speaker 2: great college stars had to start somewhere in high school.
- 54:39Speaker 2: And the high school level of volleyball in this one
- 54:43Speaker 2: hundred mile radius getting down to Houston is awful good
- 54:46Speaker 2: when you look at the AAU teams, then you look
- 54:48Speaker 2: at the bleeds over into the high school teams, then
- 54:50Speaker 2: you look what happens in college. That's what you're seeing,
- 54:54Speaker 2: and so people are really hook. This is a great
- 54:57Speaker 2: volleyball community.
- 54:59Speaker 7: It's a fantasticvolleyball community.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Because people like Jackie pants law to high school and
- 55:03Speaker 2: some of the AAU coaches we.
- 55:04Speaker 7: I mean, ain't consolidated in college station high They've been
- 55:08Speaker 7: some of the state's best the last couple of years.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so once again you look at this. So there's
- 55:12Speaker 2: a lot of people. I've heard a couple of people say, hey,
- 55:15Speaker 2: when does volleyball start. I mean, we all know when
- 55:18Speaker 2: the football season starts, you don't have to worry about that.
- 55:21Speaker 2: But now there's another sport. If you don't want to,
- 55:24Speaker 2: if you don't have X amount of money for football tickets,
- 55:28Speaker 2: which a lot of people don't, you can get volleyball tickets,
- 55:30Speaker 2: or you can go see the volleyball and you're gonna,
- 55:32Speaker 2: like you said, see some pretty good matches. And soccer
- 55:35Speaker 2: is the same way. Soccer is always a great crowd.
- 55:37Speaker 2: And so once again is we're just right around the
- 55:40Speaker 2: corner from seeing some games that are actually gonna count. Indeed, indeed,
- 55:46Speaker 2: Caleb Man, when do I need to leave.
- 55:48Speaker 7: Us anytime in the next couple of minutes?
- 55:51Speaker 2: Okay, okay, second hour, we're going to switch gears. I
- 55:54Speaker 2: want to talk a little bit about more football. Big
- 55:57Speaker 2: ten football media days are going on. I want to
- 56:00Speaker 2: talk about that. We've got some uniforms, We've got some
- 56:02Speaker 2: sec media leftovers. And once again is if you guys
- 56:08Speaker 2: got any topics that you would like to talk about,
- 56:11Speaker 2: or any songs you would love me to sing, just
- 56:15Speaker 2: go ahead and give us at six nine six nine
- 56:19Speaker 2: nine six nine three eleven fifty, go and give us
- 56:22Speaker 2: a text and guess what we're going to come back
- 56:25Speaker 2: on the flip side of something
