- 0:32SPEAKER_13: Episode 226.
- 0:34SPEAKER_13: Welcome to be here.
- 0:35SPEAKER_13: Episode 226.
- 0:36SPEAKER_13: Yes, that's right.
- 0:37SPEAKER_13: 226.
- 0:39SPEAKER_12: 226.
- 0:41SPEAKER_16: Thank you very much.
- 0:42SPEAKER_13: Ask me how I'm doing.
- 0:43SPEAKER_13: How you doing, man?
- 0:44SPEAKER_13: I'm stressed.
- 0:45SPEAKER_16: What are you stressed about?
- 0:46SPEAKER_13: Well talk to me, Goose.
- 0:48SPEAKER_13: Well, so up to this point, so for my certification, right, my to be an official state licensed music teacher.
- 1:02SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:02SPEAKER_13: Um, I have to take some classes.
- 1:05SPEAKER_13: I've been I mean a lot of the classes that I've been taking are silly classes.
- 1:10SPEAKER_13: Like uh the history of rock and roll.
- 1:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:15SPEAKER_13: Could have taught that class.
- 1:18SPEAKER_13: Um and it was it was an online class and it was just really easy.
- 1:24SPEAKER_13: I was done the class in like four weeks and it was a four-month class.
- 1:28SPEAKER_13: Just did everything, you know, and submitted it, and it's kind of a joke, actually.
- 1:32SPEAKER_13: And then the and then uh the last class that I took in the fall was a one-on-one private guitar class.
- 1:40SPEAKER_16: Correct.
- 1:41SPEAKER_13: Which again, you could have done I play guitar, yeah, you know, but not to take away from it, I learned a lot.
- 1:47SPEAKER_13: Oh, I'm sure and I'm always learning a lot, obviously.
- 1:48SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:49SPEAKER_13: But it was a breeze, you know, and all we did really was kind of hey, you like that guy?
- 1:55SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I like that guy.
- 1:56SPEAKER_13: Let's see how he does this.
- 1:58SPEAKER_13: And I get an A.
- 1:59SPEAKER_13: Bingo.
- 2:01SPEAKER_13: World's easiest class.
- 2:02SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 2:03SPEAKER_13: So this spring, um, so m most of the classes I need are are called performance classes.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 2:10SPEAKER_13: Um and which that guitar class was considered a performance class.
- 2:15SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 2:16SPEAKER_13: The two the last two classes, like like real classes, not that the performance classes aren't real, but the last two like um book worthy classes, I guess.
- 2:27SPEAKER_13: More academic.
- 2:28SPEAKER_13: Academic is that's a good word.
- 2:30SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 2:30SPEAKER_13: Uh, that I need um are available this spring, so I've signed up for them both.
- 2:37SPEAKER_13: So I opened up my online, you know, uh and I got the syllabus for both of those classes.
- 2:45SPEAKER_13: It was nice to know you, Doug.
- 2:48SPEAKER_16: Where are you going?
- 2:50SPEAKER_13: I won't be going anywhere for the next four months.
- 2:53SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 2:54SPEAKER_13: Because the projects, the papers due, discussion boards for two classes.
- 3:04SPEAKER_13: I'm just like, I I opened it up this morning as I got to work before the kids got into the classroom.
- 3:10SPEAKER_13: And I was like, oh no.
- 3:13SPEAKER_13: Why didn't you just do one?
- 3:15SPEAKER_13: Well, I wanted to get them out of the way.
- 3:17SPEAKER_13: Because one of the things is so the district hired me, and I don't know if this is I mean, this isn't okay to say.
- 3:25SPEAKER_13: The district hired me without certification.
- 3:27SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 3:28SPEAKER_13: They uh you know, because I have a reputation uh making music in the area, and they know that I was they know that I was basically qualified.
- 3:35SPEAKER_13: And they were working with me, and they schools do this all the time.
- 3:39SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_16: But they give you it's pretty normal.
- 3:40SPEAKER_13: They give you a time frame to get your certification.
- 3:44SPEAKER_13: You have to make be making strides towards that.
- 3:47SPEAKER_13: So you have to be taking classes and and things in order to attain your certification, which is what I've been doing.
- 3:53SPEAKER_13: Um and ideally they like it to happen in like three years.
- 4:00SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 4:01SPEAKER_13: Um well, this is my third year in in the district.
- 4:05SPEAKER_13: And so my thinking is I'll take these two classes, get those out of the way, and then all I have left are performance classes.
- 4:13SPEAKER_13: So that's what I did.
- 4:14SPEAKER_13: I enrolled in two of these classes, and I don't know if I'm gonna regret it or not.
- 4:19SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 4:19SPEAKER_13: So we'll see.
- 4:20SPEAKER_13: As long as I get a bit well, I want to get a b at least a B.
- 4:27SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 4:28SPEAKER_13: You know.
- 4:29SPEAKER_13: But it's like I have one, two, three b technically with you and I, I have four bands.
- 4:36SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 4:37SPEAKER_13: Um two of them are learning songs.
- 4:40SPEAKER_13: Well, actually, three of them are learning songs.
- 4:42SPEAKER_13: We should be learning songs, but we just kind of we don't.
- 4:45SPEAKER_13: Um so I have to kind of put my mind not that I ever have.
- 4:52SPEAKER_16: I was about to say we're we're gonna do what's gonna change here.
- 4:55SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 4:56SPEAKER_13: But you know, we have rehearsals coming up.
- 4:59SPEAKER_13: I have uh jazz choir getting ready for ready for district jazz in February.
- 5:04SPEAKER_13: Um I have uh modern band now.
- 5:09SPEAKER_13: So yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_13: Two two days after school.
- 5:10SPEAKER_13: I'm I'm I'm in modern band.
- 5:13SPEAKER_13: And um my kids are in basketball all over the state.
- 5:19SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 5:20SPEAKER_13: Um so it's like I probably won't be doing a whole lot.
- 5:27SPEAKER_13: My wife will have to take the kids to basketball and I'll be here reading and studying.
- 5:32SPEAKER_16: So what are these classes?
- 5:33SPEAKER_13: Uh like one of them is um methods of teaching music.
- 5:42SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 5:43SPEAKER_13: Well, I think I will I think I will benefit from that because I've been making up making it up as I go along.
- 5:49SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 5:49SPEAKER_13: You know, I do research and and you know, I have obviously music teacher friends.
- 5:54SPEAKER_13: You need to do this, you need to do this, you need to align it to the standards if you can, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 5:58SPEAKER_13: You know, and it's and so this is a an actual this is how you teach music, you know, that type of thing.
- 6:06SPEAKER_13: So I'm sure I'll benefit from it.
- 6:08SPEAKER_13: The other one uh is basically a DEI class.
- 6:12SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay.
- 6:13SPEAKER_13: And it was it was uh I know I saw one of the assignments, uh, and it was something like uh um give m give me the history of your name or something like that.
- 6:29SPEAKER_13: I don't remember what what the actual wording was, but it's one of those um I guess necessary classes.
- 6:40SPEAKER_13: But it was uh d diversity, culturally responsible uh education or something like that.
- 6:48SPEAKER_13: And I get that too.
- 6:50SPEAKER_13: So like if I'm if I'm teaching somewhere and someone from a different culture or you know part of the world is enrolled in my class, am I gonna teach in the same way as I teach everybody else?
- 7:01SPEAKER_13: You know, that type of thing.
- 7:02SPEAKER_13: So I get it.
- 7:04SPEAKER_13: I don't think I'm gonna enjoy that class very much.
- 7:07SPEAKER_13: Probably not.
- 7:07SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 7:08SPEAKER_16: So it's not like you're gonna enjoy either of them.
- 7:10SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 7:11SPEAKER_13: So um just saying.
- 7:13SPEAKER_13: But I'm I got I ordered my textbooks.
- 7:16SPEAKER_13: Uh they should be here Friday, I think.
- 7:20SPEAKER_13: Uh hopefully.
- 7:21SPEAKER_13: And I'm just gonna start reading and I'm gonna start doing the assignments and just getting it all out of the way.
- 7:27SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna buckle down.
- 7:28SPEAKER_13: I put it on my calendar.
- 7:30SPEAKER_13: This is my time for s for studying, you know, homework and stuff.
- 7:33SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 7:34SPEAKER_13: Uh, all the way through the week.
- 7:36SPEAKER_13: Um I think I'm gonna stick to it.
- 7:40SPEAKER_13: We'll see.
- 7:41SPEAKER_13: Yeah, we'll see.
- 7:42SPEAKER_13: I mean, occasionally I would like to see my kids play basketball, but I I have had enough basketball.
- 7:46SPEAKER_13: I have kids?
- 7:47SPEAKER_13: I have had enough basketball for a while.
- 7:49SPEAKER_16: So basketball.
- 7:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 7:52SPEAKER_13: So that's why I'm a little bit stressed.
- 7:54SPEAKER_13: I'm not as stressed as I think I'm going to be.
- 7:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I'm about to say you're just this is like the pre-stress.
- 8:01SPEAKER_13: Yeah, and you watch, it'll it'll be like a breeze.
- 8:03SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah, you don't know.
- 8:04SPEAKER_13: I hope.
- 8:05SPEAKER_13: I don't know yet.
- 8:06SPEAKER_13: You don't know.
- 8:06SPEAKER_13: You gotta wait till you get into it.
- 8:07SPEAKER_13: I told my wife, I said, you know, I I'm just I want to cry.
- 8:10SPEAKER_13: You know, it's like I have there'll be projects and there'll be papers, and she's like, Yeah, but the papers, you can BS your way.
- 8:17SPEAKER_13: You you you write those in like 20 minutes.
- 8:20SPEAKER_13: I'm like, I don't think so.
- 8:21SPEAKER_13: Not for this class or these classes.
- 8:23SPEAKER_13: You know, I don't think it's gonna be like that.
- 8:25SPEAKER_13: I think it's gonna be I have to I'll have to like do research and you know, that type of thing.
- 8:31SPEAKER_13: So we shall see.
- 8:33SPEAKER_13: Research.
- 8:33SPEAKER_13: Yeah, exactly.
- 8:34SPEAKER_13: We shall see stupid.
- 8:36SPEAKER_13: You did some research today.
- 8:39SPEAKER_13: What I do.
- 8:41SPEAKER_13: You found out that Chicago's playing.
- 8:43SPEAKER_16: Well, that's just because I saw a ad on Facebook.
- 8:45SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 8:46SPEAKER_13: And then you sent me a message, dude, Chicago's playing in Bangor.
- 8:49SPEAKER_13: I know, I'm so excited.
- 8:50SPEAKER_13: We're going.
- 8:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 8:52SPEAKER_16: I was like, this this is not optional.
- 8:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah, no, we have to make it happen.
- 8:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 8:56SPEAKER_16: So and it's perfect because it's the week after ATLC.
- 8:59SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 9:00SPEAKER_16: So I'll be available.
- 9:02SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 9:03SPEAKER_16: And I'm going.
- 9:05SPEAKER_16: And you're going.
- 9:06SPEAKER_13: I want to see.
- 9:07SPEAKER_13: So it's July 30th.
- 9:08SPEAKER_13: What day is that?
- 9:08SPEAKER_13: It's the I don't care.
- 9:10SPEAKER_13: Tuesday or Thursday.
- 9:11SPEAKER_13: Could be Sunday, could be Wednesday, could be well, I have to make sure that we plan our vacation accordingly.
- 9:18SPEAKER_13: Because that is your vacation.
- 9:20SPEAKER_13: Well, that's the thing.
- 9:21SPEAKER_13: Going to Chicago.
- 9:22SPEAKER_13: So would you be the city?
- 9:24SPEAKER_13: Would you be opposed?
- 9:26SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 9:26SPEAKER_13: Because we haven't planned anything yet.
- 9:28SPEAKER_13: Usually we we take a week and go down to camp.
- 9:30SPEAKER_13: We didn't do it last year, so we're hoping to do something this year.
- 9:33SPEAKER_13: Would you be opposed to Going to your camp?
- 9:35SPEAKER_13: Sure, I'll go.
- 9:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you could go to the camp.
- 9:38SPEAKER_12: Sure, why not?
- 9:41SPEAKER_13: But I mean Hey, it's the Mojers.
- 9:42SPEAKER_13: Head Doug.
- 9:43SPEAKER_13: Me coming from the south.
- 9:45SPEAKER_13: And you coming from the north, and we go into the show.
- 9:48SPEAKER_16: Why would I be opposed to that?
- 9:49SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 9:50SPEAKER_13: I don't know, because you'd be traveling by yourself or I travel by myself all the time.
- 9:54SPEAKER_13: This is true, but I didn't know if you preferred traveling with someone else.
- 9:57SPEAKER_13: Well, it'd be more fun if we went together.
- 9:59SPEAKER_13: I know, that's what I'm saying.
- 10:00SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 10:00SPEAKER_16: But you know, if if if you absolutely have to go to the to your lake house.
- 10:05SPEAKER_13: Well, we have like I said, we have we haven't planned anything yet.
- 10:09SPEAKER_15: There we're going to the lake house for the week.
- 10:13SPEAKER_15: That Neanderthal Doug will meet me in Bangor.
- 10:18SPEAKER_15: We're going to see Chicago.
- 10:20SPEAKER_15: No, not the musical, the musical group.
- 10:24SPEAKER_13: Um, I got to thinking, you know, they probably don't play uh a lot of the stuff that we would want them to play.
- 10:31SPEAKER_13: They probably don't.
- 10:31SPEAKER_13: I don't care.
- 10:32SPEAKER_13: I just want to see Chicago.
- 10:33SPEAKER_13: I a lot of the and there's a there's an article on ultimate classicrock.com.
- 10:37SPEAKER_13: I haven't read it, but it said Chicago could and might go on without any original members.
- 10:47SPEAKER_13: How do you feel about that?
- 10:49SPEAKER_16: Well, I mean, they've been replacing people anyway.
- 10:53SPEAKER_13: They have core members.
- 10:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 10:54SPEAKER_13: Of course, Bobby Lamb is there.
- 10:56SPEAKER_13: Um Walt uh Well no, Walt Parazator is kind of in retirement.
- 11:01SPEAKER_13: James Pankau and Lou Lugane Lou Luganey.
- 11:12SPEAKER_13: Key members that are left.
- 11:13SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 11:14SPEAKER_13: Everybody else has been replaced.
- 11:15SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_13: Um and two of those guys are horns.
- 11:18SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 11:19SPEAKER_13: Trumpet and and trombones.
- 11:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I I don't care.
- 11:22SPEAKER_13: I mean Yeah.
- 11:24SPEAKER_13: As long as the music lifts.
- 11:25SPEAKER_16: As long as as long as the music's good, I don't care.
- 11:27SPEAKER_16: You know, get we get to see Chicago.
- 11:29SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 11:29SPEAKER_16: You know, before they stop touring.
- 11:32SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 11:32SPEAKER_16: Which is eventually may happen.
- 11:34SPEAKER_13: Could happen very soon because they're they're in their s late 70s, early eighties.
- 11:38SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I'm sure I'm sure these guys don't want you know want to carry on.
- 11:41SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 11:42SPEAKER_16: But you know, you gotta you gotta strike while the iron is still, you know, hot.
- 11:46SPEAKER_13: Yep, I agree with that.
- 11:47SPEAKER_16: If they're coming, if they're coming to Bangor, why not?
- 11:50SPEAKER_16: Let's do it, man.
- 11:51SPEAKER_13: Are you gonna get a room?
- 11:53SPEAKER_13: It would make sense.
- 11:54SPEAKER_16: They have rooms at the concert?
- 11:56SPEAKER_16: Cool.
- 11:56SPEAKER_16: Actually, watch I'll just watch all the shows.
- 11:58SPEAKER_13: You should book it now because July.
- 12:02SPEAKER_16: You forget I have relatives in the area.
- 12:04SPEAKER_13: Oh, that's true.
- 12:05SPEAKER_13: You could probably stay with Stacey, right?
- 12:06SPEAKER_16: I could.
- 12:06SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 12:07SPEAKER_16: I'd have to, you know, call ahead.
- 12:09SPEAKER_16: Yep.
- 12:10SPEAKER_16: And you can be like, show up after the concert.
- 12:12SPEAKER_13: Hey guys, stay in your basement.
- 12:13SPEAKER_13: Because I bet you uh hotel rooms July 31st on a concert night or plight, four hundred dollars.
- 12:18SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah, that'd be just stupid.
- 12:19SPEAKER_13: Stupid.
- 12:20SPEAKER_13: Stupid, stupid stupid heads.
- 12:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 12:23SPEAKER_13: But I'm there.
- 12:24SPEAKER_16: I haven't told my wife about it yet, but uh well she'll hear this and she'll be like well I guess we're going to guess we're going to Chicago.
- 12:34SPEAKER_13: Um speaking of going places, my daughter, I don't know if you knew this or not, for the last week, has been in California.
- 12:43SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 12:43SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_13: Um largely unaffected by the fires.
- 12:51SPEAKER_13: Which is good.
- 12:52SPEAKER_13: Uh which is good.
- 12:53SPEAKER_13: Um she I I have to tell you what she said.
- 12:56SPEAKER_13: What did I do with my phone?
- 12:58SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 12:59SPEAKER_13: Where did you?
- 13:00SPEAKER_13: Is this a trick?
- 13:01SPEAKER_13: If I left my phone upstairs, I must have left my phone upstairs.
- 13:04SPEAKER_13: I should get it because I do there's some things I want to read to you.
- 13:08SPEAKER_13: Cousin Larry texted messaged me, so it was kind of neat.
- 13:11SPEAKER_16: Uh well, if you leave, I mean we could just we could do A pause the podcast.
- 13:17SPEAKER_16: Or B, I could just ramble incessantly.
- 13:21SPEAKER_16: Oh, he's back.
- 13:22SPEAKER_16: Look, oh, I knew it.
- 13:23SPEAKER_16: I knew, I knew, I knew it took too long.
- 13:27SPEAKER_16: He's got like he's got whiskey in a can or something.
- 13:32SPEAKER_16: It's tea.
- 13:33SPEAKER_16: Sure.
- 13:34SPEAKER_16: Sure it's tea.
- 13:36SPEAKER_13: It's Irish tea.
- 13:37SPEAKER_13: I had to call my phone.
- 13:38SPEAKER_16: Oh, I know I was sitting here, I was like, I bet he can't find his phone.
- 13:42SPEAKER_16: That's why he's talking about it.
- 13:43SPEAKER_13: I had to call it from the house phone.
- 13:45SPEAKER_16: Hello!
- 13:45SPEAKER_13: Is this my phone?
- 13:46SPEAKER_13: I had started making tea before you got here and I came down here and I walked back up and I said, Have you seen my phone?
- 13:53SPEAKER_13: Myra's like, No, I was gonna bring you your tea.
- 13:55SPEAKER_13: I was like, Oh, you made me tea?
- 13:58SPEAKER_13: Mom did.
- 13:59SPEAKER_13: Okay, thanks.
- 14:04SPEAKER_13: I did find it.
- 14:05SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 14:05SPEAKER_13: So it's right there.
- 14:07SPEAKER_12: Um, so you don't need me.
- 14:09SPEAKER_12: I'm curious to see what that's what you that's between me and them.
- 14:13SPEAKER_13: What you talking about?
- 14:15SPEAKER_16: We had a very we had a very nice conversation.
- 14:18SPEAKER_13: Okay, good.
- 14:19SPEAKER_13: Um so my daughter, I just want what my daughter had said.
- 14:25SPEAKER_13: Um so she was out there for a conference.
- 14:28SPEAKER_13: Actually, a couple of conferences, I think.
- 14:31SPEAKER_13: She went to Huntington Beach, which was beautiful.
- 14:35SPEAKER_16: I knew a girl from Huntington Beach once.
- 14:37SPEAKER_16: Did you?
- 14:38SPEAKER_16: Yeah, she was very nice.
- 14:39SPEAKER_16: She was in the Navy.
- 14:40SPEAKER_13: We should write a song about that.
- 14:41SPEAKER_16: What?
- 14:42SPEAKER_13: The girl from Huntington Beach.
- 14:44SPEAKER_16: I can't remember her name though.
- 14:45SPEAKER_13: What who cares?
- 14:46SPEAKER_13: The girl from Huntington Beach.
- 14:47SPEAKER_16: That's not a very good title.
- 14:49SPEAKER_13: No?
- 14:49SPEAKER_16: No.
- 14:51SPEAKER_13: The Huntington Beach girl?
- 14:53SPEAKER_13: Even worse.
- 14:55SPEAKER_13: The Huntington Bitch?
- 14:57SPEAKER_13: That's mean.
- 14:58SPEAKER_13: Oh, wait.
- 14:58SPEAKER_13: She was really nice.
- 14:59SPEAKER_13: That's right.
- 15:00SPEAKER_13: It doesn't apply.
- 15:01SPEAKER_13: Um why doesn't it what?
- 15:03SPEAKER_13: Because she's not a Biach.
- 15:05SPEAKER_16: Okay, you now you're censoring yourself?
- 15:08SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_16: Oh, you're so weird.
- 15:09SPEAKER_16: Oh, that's right.
- 15:10SPEAKER_16: I did swear, didn't I?
- 15:11SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you just like blurted it out.
- 15:12SPEAKER_16: You're like, ah! Take that.
- 15:14SPEAKER_16: You're right.
- 15:15SPEAKER_16: Sorry, Blanchard.
- 15:17SPEAKER_16: Um sorry, Blanchard children.
- 15:19SPEAKER_16: Your uncle Brian is weird.
- 15:21SPEAKER_13: He is, actually.
- 15:23SPEAKER_13: Uh so she was in Huntington Beach for a few days and then she went to Bakersfield.
- 15:27SPEAKER_16: Okay, that's up the road from where everything's going.
- 15:29SPEAKER_16: Yep.
- 15:30unknown: Yeah.
- 15:30SPEAKER_13: And then wherever Disneyland is, is that Anaheim?
- 15:34SPEAKER_16: That's Anaheim.
- 15:35SPEAKER_16: That's that's outside of Cal that's outside of LA.
- 15:37SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 15:38SPEAKER_13: So she she was at Disneyland yesterday.
- 15:42SPEAKER_13: So she went she w she went to Disney.
- 15:45SPEAKER_13: Here's a picture of her and her friend at Disney.
- 15:48SPEAKER_16: Mm-hmm.
- 15:49SPEAKER_16: Mm-hmm.
- 15:51SPEAKER_16: Oh, nice.
- 15:51SPEAKER_16: It's a good picture.
- 15:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 15:53SPEAKER_13: But then I said You can't even tell.
- 15:55SPEAKER_16: I mean, that's like I mean I'll blue sky.
- 15:57SPEAKER_16: Yeah, blue sky.
- 15:58SPEAKER_13: I mean, it doesn't even look smoky, but uh the I think the fires are north of where she is, so I kept checking in with her, you know, because I mean she's out in California and you know what's going on in California, obviously.
- 16:08SPEAKER_13: So I just kept checking in.
- 16:10SPEAKER_13: You still good?
- 16:10SPEAKER_13: Yes, yeah, still good.
- 16:12SPEAKER_13: And I said, let's see.
- 16:17SPEAKER_13: Cuz I asked her, I said, so when are you moving out there?
- 16:21SPEAKER_13: Because I thought that she would, you know, really like it and stuff.
- 16:24SPEAKER_16: And I don't think I don't think you want to move to California.
- 16:27SPEAKER_13: Well, here's what she said.
- 16:28SPEAKER_13: Uh 9 30 this morning, which would have been 6 30 in California.
- 16:34SPEAKER_13: Is that right?
- 16:35SPEAKER_13: She's at the airport.
- 16:36SPEAKER_16: 9 30 this morning here?
- 16:37SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 16:37SPEAKER_16: So it'll be 6 30 there.
- 16:38SPEAKER_13: Yeah, so she was at the airport.
- 16:40SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_13: She says the TSA guy made me explain myself for not wanting the photo thing that I always apt to opt out of, and then criticized.
- 16:47SPEAKER_13: What photo thing?
- 16:48SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 16:48SPEAKER_13: Uh she says, and criticized me for it pretty loudly and kind of passively accused me of trying to circumvent security.
- 16:56SPEAKER_13: And I said, California is different.
- 16:59SPEAKER_13: California's stupid.
- 17:00SPEAKER_13: She goes, Not just because of this, but can I just say I can't wait to leave California?
- 17:05SPEAKER_13: It can be pretty, but I don't like it here at all.
- 17:08SPEAKER_13: Well, guess you guess you can cross that state off, I guess so.
- 17:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 17:13SPEAKER_13: She's like, I don't mind visiting every once in a while, but no, I'm good.
- 17:18SPEAKER_16: Well, I mean, I spend some time in California, but that was back in the you know early 90s.
- 17:24SPEAKER_16: It was a lot different back then.
- 17:26SPEAKER_13: So um, all right, so I don't want to tell you this whole conversation uh with cousin Larry, but it was kind of neat because obviously he listened to last week's podcast.
- 17:35SPEAKER_16: Well, before we get that, I got I have to bring this up because speaking of California.
- 17:39SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 17:39SPEAKER_16: The tool song Anime.
- 17:41SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 17:42SPEAKER_16: Do you know what that's about?
- 17:43SPEAKER_13: I don't.
- 17:43SPEAKER_13: I'm not a tool guy, so I don't know.
- 17:45SPEAKER_16: I know.
- 17:46SPEAKER_16: Look up the lyrics to the song.
- 17:48SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 17:48SPEAKER_16: You'll find it very interesting.
- 17:52unknown: Okay.
- 17:52SPEAKER_16: Because I didn't even know this.
- 17:54SPEAKER_16: And I like the song, but I didn't know this.
- 17:57SPEAKER_13: What is it?
- 17:57SPEAKER_13: Anime.
- 17:58SPEAKER_16: Anime.
- 17:59SPEAKER_16: Hey, don't ask me this.
- 18:01SPEAKER_13: I always thought it said enema.
- 18:02SPEAKER_16: No.
- 18:03SPEAKER_16: It's anime.
- 18:04SPEAKER_16: Anime, anime.
- 18:06SPEAKER_13: You ever heard that song by Jewel?
- 18:07SPEAKER_13: Enema?
- 18:08SPEAKER_13: Anima?
- 18:09SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's really painful.
- 18:11SPEAKER_12: It's hard to listen to.
- 18:12SPEAKER_12: It's hard to pay.
- 18:14SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 18:15SPEAKER_13: Some say the end is near, some say we'll see Armageddon soon.
- 18:19SPEAKER_13: Certainly hope we will.
- 18:21SPEAKER_13: I sure could use a vacation from this BS three ring circus sideshow of freaks.
- 18:26SPEAKER_13: Here in this hopeless effing hole we call LA.
- 18:30SPEAKER_13: The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
- 18:33SPEAKER_13: Any effing time, any effing day, learn to swim, see you down in Arizona Bay.
- 18:39SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 18:40SPEAKER_13: Tell me how you really feel making it.
- 18:41SPEAKER_16: Maynard does not like California or LA specifically.
- 18:45SPEAKER_13: Should I keep going?
- 18:46SPEAKER_13: Fret for your finger figure and fret for your lat latte and fret for your lawsuit and fret for your hairpiece and fret for your Prozac and fret for your pilot and fret for your contract and fret for your car.
- 18:59SPEAKER_13: It's a BS three-ring circus sideshow of freaks.
- 19:03SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 19:03SPEAKER_13: Okay, and then the rest of it that is kind of the same that it goes.
- 19:06SPEAKER_13: Some say a comet will fall from the sky, followed by meteor showers and tidal waves, followed by fault lines that cannot sit still, followed by millions of dumbfounded dip.
- 19:19SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 19:22SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 19:22SPEAKER_13: Um because mom's gonna fix it all soon.
- 19:25SPEAKER_13: Mom's coming round to put it back the way it ought to be.
- 19:28SPEAKER_13: F L.
- 19:29SPEAKER_13: Ron Hubbard, and F all his clones, F all these gun-toting hip gangster wannabes.
- 19:35SPEAKER_13: F Retro anything.
- 19:36SPEAKER_13: F your tattoos, F all you junkies, and F your short memory.
- 19:41SPEAKER_13: Wow, it just goes on and on and on.
- 19:45SPEAKER_13: Plea mom, please flush it all away.
- 19:48SPEAKER_13: I want to see it go right in and down.
- 19:50SPEAKER_13: I want to watch it go right in, watch you flush it all away.
- 19:53SPEAKER_13: Time to bring it down again.
- 19:55SPEAKER_13: Don't just call me pessimist.
- 19:56SPEAKER_13: Try and read between the lines, and I can't imagine why you wouldn't welcome any change, my friend.
- 20:01SPEAKER_13: I don't know that I've like I mean I know this song because of the music.
- 20:07SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 20:07SPEAKER_13: You know, like the rhythm that you know when this song first came out, I was like, oh, that's dark and cool and you know uh almost groovy, you know, but I never listened to the song all the way through.
- 20:20SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 20:21SPEAKER_13: I don't know how you sing that.
- 20:23SPEAKER_13: I mean, is there a melody?
- 20:25SPEAKER_13: I mean, is it Yeah.
- 20:26SPEAKER_13: I I don't want to play it because we'd have to bleep the whole thing.
- 20:29SPEAKER_16: Yeah, but the the the funny thing, the lot like in the background, a lot of it is learn to swim.
- 20:34SPEAKER_16: Learn to swim.
- 20:35SPEAKER_12: Learn to swim because it's gonna fall in the ocean, basically.
- 20:40SPEAKER_16: But that was back in the mid 90s.
- 20:42SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 20:43SPEAKER_16: And I'm like, wow, that's like still relevant.
- 20:47SPEAKER_13: You know what I mean?
- 20:48SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 20:48SPEAKER_13: And not to I mean, if if you're in California and you're listening, we're obviously not poking fun at what's going on out there.
- 20:56SPEAKER_13: I mean, it's horrific.
- 20:58SPEAKER_13: It's horrific.
- 20:59SPEAKER_13: It's crazy.
- 21:00SPEAKER_13: Um so heartbreaking, too.
- 21:03SPEAKER_13: I mean, it's you know, people's whole whole lives are gone.
- 21:08SPEAKER_13: You know, they're personal.
- 21:09SPEAKER_16: Yeah, and they're and they're thinking people actually started these fires.
- 21:12SPEAKER_16: Yes, these aren't natural.
- 21:13SPEAKER_16: More and more there there's evidence that they're and they're catching people on video starting the fires, right?
- 21:18SPEAKER_16: Even while it's still going.
- 21:19SPEAKER_16: There's they're catching people starting fires, dressing up as firemen, going in places and starting fires.
- 21:25SPEAKER_16: That's like why?
- 21:26SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 21:26SPEAKER_13: What is wrong with you people?
- 21:27SPEAKER_13: Well, it makes me think that there's there's a plan.
- 21:31SPEAKER_13: You know, it makes me think because it it seems too orchestrated.
- 21:34SPEAKER_16: Well, it's just nuts, man.
- 21:36SPEAKER_13: You know, uh I don't know.
- 21:37SPEAKER_13: I'm I'm not gonna get into conspiracy theories and stuff like that.
- 21:40SPEAKER_13: But it's it is it you know, whatever you believe about it, it's heartbreaking.
- 21:45SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I feel bad for people who lost, you know, their homes and people have died.
- 21:49SPEAKER_16: I mean, what, twenty four, twenty five people have died so far.
- 21:52SPEAKER_16: You know?
- 21:52SPEAKER_13: So I mean that's just crazy.
- 21:54SPEAKER_13: It is crazy.
- 21:54SPEAKER_13: Crazy.
- 21:55SPEAKER_13: Yep, it is crazy.
- 21:56SPEAKER_13: And you know, all these Celebrities, I don't care if they're a celebrity and they have a forty-five million dollar home that they just lost.
- 22:08SPEAKER_13: They still lost it.
- 22:09SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 22:10SPEAKER_13: You know, they still lost all of their personal stuff.
- 22:13SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 22:13SPEAKER_13: You know, heaven knows what was in that forty-five million dollar home.
- 22:16SPEAKER_13: They're life.
- 22:17SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 22:17SPEAKER_13: You know?
- 22:17SPEAKER_13: And there's people that is like, oh, they can afford it, blah, blah, blah.
- 22:20SPEAKER_16: That doesn't that's not the point.
- 22:22SPEAKER_16: Well, you can replace the stuff, but you can't replace like the irreplaceable stuff.
- 22:26SPEAKER_13: Billy Crystal was in his house for 45 years.
- 22:28SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_13: He lived he lived there for 45 years.
- 22:31SPEAKER_13: You know, the fact that his mansion burned down and that he could probably afford to replace it, okay.
- 22:39SPEAKER_16: Well, yeah, he could replace Yeah, but he still lost everything that he still lost his memories.
- 22:43SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 22:43SPEAKER_16: You know, from That's the thing.
- 22:45SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 22:45SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_13: As I sip my tea.
- 22:50SPEAKER_16: But anyway, I digress.
- 22:51SPEAKER_16: I just I just thought that was interesting.
- 22:52SPEAKER_16: Because we were talking about California.
- 22:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 22:55SPEAKER_16: So um and it was music related, so I brought it back nicely.
- 23:00SPEAKER_16: Thank you very much.
- 23:01SPEAKER_16: You had to be here all week.
- 23:02SPEAKER_16: Oh, it's almost professional.
- 23:03SPEAKER_16: I I you should get paid for this.
- 23:04SPEAKER_16: We should start doing a podcast.
- 23:07SPEAKER_16: I bet people would listen.
- 23:09SPEAKER_16: I bet ones of people would listen.
- 23:12SPEAKER_13: Do you know what the funny thing is?
- 23:14SPEAKER_13: Is um I've been noticing, you know, like, and I I hate to say it like this, but I do a lot of scrolling because I'm middle-aged and you know That's what we do.
- 23:26SPEAKER_13: Yeah, that's what we do.
- 23:27SPEAKER_13: And I've been seeing, you know, I come across, you know, then all these interview shows.
- 23:32SPEAKER_13: Everybody has an interview show.
- 23:34SPEAKER_13: Everybody has a podcast now.
- 23:36SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 23:36SPEAKER_13: You know, like all these, forgive me, B list celebrities that aren't making movies anymore or aren't so they just make a podcast.
- 23:43SPEAKER_12: They'll do this to start a podcast.
- 23:45unknown: Yeah.
- 23:46SPEAKER_13: And so there's podcasts.
- 23:48SPEAKER_16: We're kind of we're kind of like uh M-list security celebrity.
- 23:52SPEAKER_13: At least M-list.
- 23:53SPEAKER_16: M.
- 23:54SPEAKER_16: M or below.
- 23:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 23:55SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 23:56SPEAKER_16: Somewhere between M and Z.
- 23:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 23:58SPEAKER_16: Or Z if you're Canadian.
- 23:59SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 24:00SPEAKER_13: So Um But they're they're popping up everywhere, and it makes me think that.
- 24:06SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 24:07SPEAKER_13: Is the podcast uh podcast is the new radio show.
- 24:12SPEAKER_13: Right, but there's so many out there.
- 24:15SPEAKER_13: Like, how are you gonna find, you know, your audience, I guess?
- 24:20SPEAKER_13: We don't care.
- 24:21SPEAKER_13: We don't have an audience.
- 24:22SPEAKER_13: I mean They find us.
- 24:23SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 24:24SPEAKER_13: Um that's just I don't know.
- 24:25SPEAKER_13: I was thinking about that.
- 24:26SPEAKER_13: I was like, everybody's got a podcast now.
- 24:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 24:28SPEAKER_16: Well, it's easy.
- 24:29SPEAKER_16: All you need is, you know, half a brain and some mics and uh podcast thingy and a computer.
- 24:36SPEAKER_16: Bam, you got a podcast.
- 24:38SPEAKER_13: I like we next podcast we create, we should call it Podcast Thingy.
- 24:43SPEAKER_16: I like that.
- 24:44SPEAKER_16: Well, that's the episode's the uh name of this episode, Podcast Thingy.
- 24:47SPEAKER_16: The podcast thingy.
- 24:48SPEAKER_16: The podcast thingy.
- 24:49SPEAKER_16: All right.
- 24:50SPEAKER_13: So uh Cousin Larry.
- 24:51SPEAKER_13: So yeah, cousin Larry.
- 24:52SPEAKER_13: Cousin Larry was listening to I'm not gonna read you the whole conversation.
- 24:55SPEAKER_13: But he was listening to Why the Dirty?
- 24:58SPEAKER_13: Did he swear a lot?
- 24:59SPEAKER_13: He was listening to uh last week's podcast, and just out of the blue, um he messaged me on Facebook and he said, You lived on Fourth Street and Mars Hill across from my grandparents' house?
- 25:11SPEAKER_13: Was it the house next to the McPherson's where Karen Deshain used to live?
- 25:15SPEAKER_13: I said, Sure was.
- 25:17SPEAKER_13: Ranch style.
- 25:18SPEAKER_13: I only lived there for two years.
- 25:19SPEAKER_13: I remember it well.
- 25:20SPEAKER_13: I used to hang out with Karen when we visited the county.
- 25:23SPEAKER_13: I remembered uh I remember a big old barn in the back.
- 25:28SPEAKER_13: Do you remember that?
- 25:28SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 25:29SPEAKER_13: I said, not that big, but yes, more like a shed.
- 25:32SPEAKER_13: Or at least when I was there.
- 25:34SPEAKER_13: I worked with Karen at the high school down there.
- 25:37SPEAKER_13: Good people.
- 25:38SPEAKER_13: Um he asked me what years I lived there.
- 25:42SPEAKER_13: Um and I said, it would have been my seventh and eighth grade year, so eighty-seven, eighty-eight.
- 25:48SPEAKER_13: He said, uh I graduated college in eighty seven, and would I probably visited Graham back then when you were living there.
- 25:53SPEAKER_13: Small world.
- 25:54SPEAKER_13: I loved Ford Street.
- 25:56SPEAKER_13: I said, same.
- 25:57SPEAKER_13: Drove a truck off a cliff in the Tater Fields out back.
- 25:59SPEAKER_13: Good times.
- 26:01SPEAKER_13: Always fun.
- 26:02SPEAKER_13: Always fun.
- 26:03SPEAKER_13: He's like, and I believe this.
- 26:06SPEAKER_13: He said, Mars Hill was a great place to create stories you share later in life.
- 26:12SPEAKER_13: I said, I lived there for three years and gained the best friends I have to this day.
- 26:16SPEAKER_13: I could go to a 30-year class reunion and know everyone there.
- 26:20SPEAKER_13: Easily my favorite period in my childhood.
- 26:23SPEAKER_13: He said, I love going there.
- 26:24SPEAKER_13: I wish my parents would have moved back there when I was a kid.
- 26:27SPEAKER_13: They used to talk about it all the time.
- 26:28SPEAKER_13: No complaints though, Oakland was a fun place to grow up.
- 26:31SPEAKER_13: Lots of rivers and lakes.
- 26:32SPEAKER_16: Then he said, listen to Actually, if I remember right, there was a river right behind their house.
- 26:39SPEAKER_16: Where they lived?
- 26:39SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 26:40SPEAKER_16: If I remember right.
- 26:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_13: Um then he says, listening to the podcast, I love Fly on the Wall, ACDC.
- 26:48SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 26:49SPEAKER_13: He came out while I was in college and I bought the vinyl at the local record store in Quincy, Massachusetts.
- 26:53SPEAKER_13: It's just kind of neat, you know, that um cousin Larry's, you know, kind of communicating with us and stuff.
- 26:59SPEAKER_13: That's kind of that's pretty cool.
- 27:00SPEAKER_16: Well, I would hope so.
- 27:01SPEAKER_16: He's he's he's part of the show.
- 27:03SPEAKER_13: No, no, I know, I know, but I've never met the man.
- 27:05SPEAKER_16: Well, that's true, you have.
- 27:06SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 27:06SPEAKER_13: That's true, you know.
- 27:07SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 27:08SPEAKER_13: So um kind of cool.
- 27:10SPEAKER_13: And the fact that I may have seen him mowing his grandmother's lawn one day or something.
- 27:15SPEAKER_13: You might have.
- 27:16SPEAKER_16: I mean, you usually come up and do stuff for Graham and stuff like that.
- 27:19SPEAKER_13: So yeah.
- 27:20SPEAKER_13: So it's just kind of a like he said, small world.
- 27:22SPEAKER_16: Yep.
- 27:23SPEAKER_16: That it is, my friend.
- 27:24SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it is.
- 27:25SPEAKER_16: Small world.
- 27:26SPEAKER_16: So small world.
- 27:28SPEAKER_16: After all, I don't think this is the song.
- 27:31SPEAKER_13: What else?
- 27:32SPEAKER_13: Uh oh, so we have a couple of things coming up.
- 27:35SPEAKER_13: We're playing Holton this or no, we're playing uh the lounge.
- 27:38SPEAKER_13: Saturday.
- 27:39SPEAKER_13: This Saturday.
- 27:39SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 27:40SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 27:40SPEAKER_13: Holton next Saturday until eleven.
- 27:43SPEAKER_13: What?
- 27:44SPEAKER_13: Eight to eleven.
- 27:45SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay.
- 27:46SPEAKER_16: That's gonna be dumb, but whatever.
- 27:48SPEAKER_13: It is it is gonna be really dumb.
- 27:50SPEAKER_13: Um, but like you said, whatever.
- 27:52SPEAKER_13: Uh we have a couple of uh them right in a row, don't we?
- 27:56SPEAKER_13: Well we're playing next weekend.
- 27:58SPEAKER_13: Holton next weekend.
- 27:59SPEAKER_13: Holton on Friday, Big Rock on Saturday.
- 28:02SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 28:03SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 28:03SPEAKER_13: Um, but uh let's see, tomorrow we have Syndicate Rehearsal.
- 28:08SPEAKER_13: Next week we have Haystack Union rehearsal.
- 28:12SPEAKER_13: We do?
- 28:13SPEAKER_13: We do.
- 28:13SPEAKER_13: When's uh Tuesday at 6.
- 28:16SPEAKER_13: That means we can't do the podcast.
- 28:19SPEAKER_13: So we move the podcast to the when to Wednesday.
- 28:21SPEAKER_13: Did I not tell you that?
- 28:22SPEAKER_16: No.
- 28:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah, we're gonna do the podcast Wednesday.
- 28:24SPEAKER_13: Thanks for letting me know.
- 28:26SPEAKER_13: Next next week.
- 28:27SPEAKER_13: Um oh look.
- 28:29SPEAKER_13: Uh University of Anagusta homework.
- 28:31SPEAKER_13: Yeah, University of Managusta homework.
- 28:32SPEAKER_13: Yeah, see, I already put it on the calendar.
- 28:34SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 28:34SPEAKER_13: You're quick.
- 28:35SPEAKER_13: And then uh the twenty eighth, we have Skinny Elvis rehearsal, which is another Tuesday.
- 28:40SPEAKER_13: So another day.
- 28:41SPEAKER_13: We won't be doing a podcast apparently till Wednesday.
- 28:45SPEAKER_13: So um we're learning a couple songs, we're doing a couple new songs tomorrow night at the Syndicate, so it's kind of cool.
- 28:52SPEAKER_13: Um I thought it was funny.
- 28:55SPEAKER_16: Ha ha funny or hmm funny.
- 28:58SPEAKER_13: Interesting funny.
- 28:59SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 28:59SPEAKER_13: Not in a b not in a bad way, but I don't know if you've seen uh uh You know who Shelby is.
- 29:06SPEAKER_13: Yeah from Marionette.
- 29:08SPEAKER_13: Yeah, great band.
- 29:09SPEAKER_13: Awesome, probably the best party band up here uh going right now.
- 29:12SPEAKER_13: Oh, absolutely.
- 29:13SPEAKER_13: Um but they're very social media savvy.
- 29:19SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 29:19SPEAKER_13: She posts a lot of stuff.
- 29:21SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 29:22SPEAKER_13: And then all of a sudden our fearless leader in the syndicate says, you know, I was thinking we should post some more stuff.
- 29:33SPEAKER_13: Oh, you know, get our faces out there.
- 29:35SPEAKER_13: What do you think what if we uh recorded ourselves at rehearsal tomorrow night?
- 29:38SPEAKER_13: You know.
- 29:39SPEAKER_13: I was like, no, that's a great idea.
- 29:40SPEAKER_13: I mean we should have been doing that all along.
- 29:42SPEAKER_16: Well, we should have done well, how long have we been together?
- 29:43SPEAKER_16: Right, nine years.
- 29:44SPEAKER_13: We should have been doing that all along, but it's just like just as Marionette and Shelby are just kind of blowing up social media, oh we should do that.
- 29:54SPEAKER_13: Yes, we should.
- 29:55SPEAKER_13: Yeah, we have we we should have been we should have been doing it all along, but that's neither here nor here.
- 30:00SPEAKER_13: I do like the way we have built the following.
- 30:03SPEAKER_13: Well, we did it, you know, the old school naturally.
- 30:05SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 30:06SPEAKER_13: You know, I mean it's yeah.
- 30:07SPEAKER_16: We just show up, play.
- 30:08SPEAKER_16: You feel like us, great.
- 30:09SPEAKER_16: If you don't oh well.
- 30:11SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 30:11SPEAKER_16: You know.
- 30:12SPEAKER_13: But uh and it it it is a testament to the band, I think, you know, that we we we gain that following the old fashioned way, like you said.
- 30:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I mean we didn't you know it was hardly any social media.
- 30:24SPEAKER_13: We were we were on social media and we have a website, but the website we don't do anything with really.
- 30:28SPEAKER_16: No, it's all Facebook.
- 30:29SPEAKER_13: Facebook Not even Instagram.
- 30:31SPEAKER_13: Sorry.
- 30:32SPEAKER_13: Our Facebook page is active, but n I mean, not as active.
- 30:37SPEAKER_16: It's only active when we do gigs.
- 30:38SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 30:38SPEAKER_16: Really pretty much.
- 30:39SPEAKER_13: So yeah.
- 30:42SPEAKER_13: Sorry, I'm taking another sippy of tea.
- 30:45SPEAKER_13: Um fancy boy.
- 30:46SPEAKER_13: So let's get to some music stuff.
- 30:48SPEAKER_16: I'm fancy boy, I'm drinking tea.
- 30:50SPEAKER_16: Shush.
- 30:50SPEAKER_13: Oh, that's a new word that my daughter came up with.
- 30:52SPEAKER_13: What bro shush bro shush.
- 30:55SPEAKER_16: Bro shush?
- 30:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_13: Because you know she was saying um she went to school the other day and somebody said shut up.
- 31:01SPEAKER_13: And that's you know, one of the the uh graveyard word.
- 31:04SPEAKER_13: Graveyard phrases they're not supposed to say shut up because it's graveyard phrases?
- 31:08SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 31:09SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 31:10SPEAKER_13: One of the one of the words you're not supposed to say or phrases you're not supposed to say.
- 31:13SPEAKER_13: Like skippity or skibbity, skibbity, whatever that crap is.
- 31:17SPEAKER_13: That's on there.
- 31:18SPEAKER_13: That's a graveyard word.
- 31:19SPEAKER_13: You don't say that.
- 31:20SPEAKER_16: Why is it called graveyard word?
- 31:22SPEAKER_16: Are you gonna end up in the graveyard because you said it?
- 31:24SPEAKER_13: No, they're dead.
- 31:25SPEAKER_13: They're dead words.
- 31:26SPEAKER_13: We don't we don't uh we don't say those words.
- 31:28SPEAKER_16: Shut up.
- 31:30SPEAKER_16: Bunch of skibbity crap.
- 31:32SPEAKER_13: And uh what that word is.
- 31:34SPEAKER_13: So anyway, we're watching a show the other day and uh and she says, Shut up.
- 31:38SPEAKER_13: I said, Hey, you're not supposed to say that.
- 31:39SPEAKER_13: She says, bro shush.
- 31:40SPEAKER_13: Brochush.
- 31:42SPEAKER_13: Oh, I like that better.
- 31:42SPEAKER_13: I kind of like that, yeah.
- 31:43SPEAKER_13: Bro shush.
- 31:44SPEAKER_13: Bro shush.
- 31:44SPEAKER_13: Bro shush.
- 31:46SPEAKER_13: Oh, and you know what we watched.
- 31:49SPEAKER_13: My uh my wife went uh took the boys down, or not took the boys, but went to the boys uh basketball games down in uh Herman last weekend.
- 31:59SPEAKER_13: And Myra had her own games up here, and plus I played at Campers on Saturday, so so I stayed home, and so Myra and I were watching a movie that night, and it was a movie from my childhood.
- 32:14SPEAKER_13: Do you remember the adventures of the wilderness family?
- 32:19SPEAKER_13: Nope.
- 32:19SPEAKER_13: No?
- 32:20SPEAKER_13: Nope.
- 32:20SPEAKER_13: There were three of them.
- 32:22SPEAKER_13: Three movies?
- 32:23SPEAKER_13: Three movies, three movies.
- 32:24SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 32:26SPEAKER_13: Um, and I guess I we watched part three.
- 32:30SPEAKER_13: And I guess I didn't realize that part three came out in like 1979.
- 32:38SPEAKER_13: So these are like movies from the 70s.
- 32:40SPEAKER_13: Ah it's about a family who lived in LA and hated it.
- 32:46SPEAKER_13: Uh didn't hate it.
- 32:48SPEAKER_13: They they wanted to get out of the rat race.
- 32:52SPEAKER_13: And so they um his uncle left him some land in Colorado, but it's out in the middle of nowhere where you have to take a helicopter or a there's a uh lake there, so you have to take a pontoon plane?
- 33:08SPEAKER_13: Yeah, pontoon plane to get there.
- 33:10SPEAKER_13: And so much so that of course they went out there and they so they built the cabin.
- 33:15SPEAKER_13: Um just bare bones cabin.
- 33:18SPEAKER_13: How'd they get the stuff to build a cabin?
- 33:19SPEAKER_13: That's a good question.
- 33:20SPEAKER_13: I think they probably cut the trees down.
- 33:22SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 33:22SPEAKER_13: Because it is a literal cab.
- 33:25SPEAKER_13: Well, they built it with the I mean it's it's it's pretty um pretty uh rustic.
- 33:32SPEAKER_13: It's a movie, Doug.
- 33:39SPEAKER_15: How did they film the movie?
- 33:42SPEAKER_15: Did they make the cameras out of trees?
- 33:48SPEAKER_13: Anyway, brochush broch.
- 33:52SPEAKER_13: Um so much so that they can only get shipment, they they get their mail like once a month.
- 34:00SPEAKER_13: And you know, they get shipments of food and stuff like that, so they they pack everything.
- 34:04SPEAKER_13: Anyway, they they run into um uh a big black bear who they who they befriend.
- 34:11SPEAKER_13: Oh, of course.
- 34:12SPEAKER_13: His name's Samson.
- 34:13SPEAKER_13: Uh they're friends with all the raccoons and everything, and they kind of live with them in the house.
- 34:17SPEAKER_13: And there's an old uh there's an old uh gold miner named um oh shoot, I can't remember.
- 34:26SPEAKER_13: And he talks like it.
- 34:27SPEAKER_12: He kind of does.
- 34:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah, of course he does.
- 34:29SPEAKER_12: He does.
- 34:30SPEAKER_12: Of course he does.
- 34:31SPEAKER_12: He does.
- 34:31SPEAKER_12: Um Back in Art Nine.
- 34:34SPEAKER_12: It's so funny that you say that because you all sound exactly like it.
- 34:37SPEAKER_12: I'm telling you, I I I could have wrote this freaking movie.
- 34:40SPEAKER_16: Um I made my cameras out of you know, planes, you know, out of wood.
- 34:45SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 34:45SPEAKER_13: I'm trying to think I don't know what that came from.
- 34:48SPEAKER_13: Anyway, we watched it and I mean she loved it.
- 34:50SPEAKER_13: There were there were parts that were scary for her because the animals were really fighting and things like that, you know.
- 34:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 34:56SPEAKER_13: But uh, and it was pretty intense.
- 34:58SPEAKER_13: But but uh yeah, I don't know.
- 35:00SPEAKER_13: It was it was one of those things that you remember from your childhood.
- 35:03SPEAKER_13: I remember watching that when I was a kid.
- 35:05SPEAKER_16: I had never heard of these movies.
- 35:06SPEAKER_13: Really?
- 35:07SPEAKER_13: Nope.
- 35:07SPEAKER_13: One is uh the first one I think is Mountain Family Robinson.
- 35:12SPEAKER_13: And then there's the Adventures of the Wilderness Family Part 2 or something like that, and then part three.
- 35:16SPEAKER_13: Uh it's really good.
- 35:17SPEAKER_16: Uh were they like old Disney movies or just like I don't think they're Disney.
- 35:22SPEAKER_13: Uh matter of fact, you the um I have never heard of these movies.
- 35:26SPEAKER_13: What's more?
- 35:26SPEAKER_13: The uh I wonder if there's a trailer.
- 35:28SPEAKER_13: I'm just uh just out of curiosity.
- 35:30SPEAKER_13: Um because you gotta hear the music.
- 35:34SPEAKER_13: I mean, it's Adventures of the Wilderness Family.
- 35:38SPEAKER_13: Oh, there is a trailer.
- 35:40SPEAKER_13: And so this is from the 70s.
- 35:42SPEAKER_13: This is really old.
- 35:43SPEAKER_13: This is two minutes long.
- 35:44SPEAKER_13: I don't know if I want to do oh, this one's from 75.
- 35:46SPEAKER_16: Is that Samson the bear behind them?
- 35:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it is.
- 35:50SPEAKER_10: Come to the wild country and see one of the most remarkable stories ever told.
- 35:55SPEAKER_10: How the wild animals actually adopted a family that settled there.
- 35:58SPEAKER_10: It all happens in the adventures of the wilderness family.
- 36:03SPEAKER_10: It's a new motion picture that tells a true story of a family who left civilization to make a new life with the wilderness.
- 36:10SPEAKER_10: They built their own cabin, lived off the land, and did what they wanted to do.
- 36:16SPEAKER_10: Join them as they make friends with all the wild animals of the forest.
- 36:19SPEAKER_10: The fun-loving ones, the unpredictable ones, birds so tame you can reach out and touch them.
- 36:26SPEAKER_10: Even a black bear who fears no man and shows them open affection.
- 36:31SPEAKER_10: You'll see how man and animals survive by working together.
- 36:34SPEAKER_10: You get the idea.
- 36:35SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 36:36SPEAKER_10: You'll see how their fear of animals turn to respect, and how they're respectful.
- 36:40SPEAKER_16: They don't tell you how this is.
- 36:42SPEAKER_16: This looks so cheesy.
- 36:46SPEAKER_16: It's amazing.
- 36:49SPEAKER_16: I mean, I mean, it I I mean, this is like this is like this is like a Disney movie.
- 36:57SPEAKER_13: Early Disney, yeah.
- 36:58SPEAKER_16: It's like well, it's not even it's like Walt Disney went, hey, who wants to make a movie for me?
- 37:03SPEAKER_16: I don't care what it's about or how you make it.
- 37:06SPEAKER_16: This is this what is that freaking is that a is that the same bear?
- 37:09SPEAKER_16: Is that a different thing?
- 37:10SPEAKER_16: So that's so that's Samson fighting that now he's giving the the guy a hug.
- 37:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah, no, it's uh that was a grizzly.
- 37:16SPEAKER_13: Black bears are nice, grizzly bears are not, apparently.
- 37:19SPEAKER_16: Oh, apparently, so so that's kind of racist.
- 37:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 37:22SPEAKER_10: So as tall as the highest mountain.
- 37:24SPEAKER_16: Where do you?
- 37:32SPEAKER_12: Oh, I'm gonna throw my kid in his leg.
- 37:35SPEAKER_12: I gotta beat this deer.
- 37:38SPEAKER_12: Look at how those bears are chasing us! Oh god, here come the geese to save us.
- 37:48SPEAKER_10: The adventures of the wilderness family.
- 37:50SPEAKER_10: Uh theater near you.
- 37:53SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 37:53SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 37:54SPEAKER_13: So we want that was part two.
- 37:55SPEAKER_13: We watched part three.
- 37:56SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 37:56SPEAKER_13: Actually, no, that was for that was part one.
- 37:57SPEAKER_16: That was the that's the that that's the one that started it all.
- 38:00SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 38:00SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 38:01SPEAKER_13: That's the one that started it all.
- 38:02SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 38:03SPEAKER_16: Great.
- 38:06SPEAKER_13: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 38:08SPEAKER_13: Oh anyway, uh, I just thought it was kind of neat watching um movies that I watched when I was a kid with my kid.
- 38:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I had never heard of these movies.
- 38:17SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 38:17SPEAKER_13: So um you're not missing much.
- 38:21SPEAKER_13: Alright, so which one of these did we decide we were gonna do?
- 38:24SPEAKER_13: Uh I'm not gonna read it the title to you.
- 38:27SPEAKER_13: This one?
- 38:28SPEAKER_13: Because we did something kind of like that last week.
- 38:30SPEAKER_13: Uh or this one?
- 38:33SPEAKER_13: One of those two.
- 38:34SPEAKER_16: Uh let's do that one.
- 38:36SPEAKER_13: Do that one?
- 38:36SPEAKER_16: Yeah, because we already did the kind of the other one.
- 38:38SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 38:39SPEAKER_16: We did.
- 38:40SPEAKER_16: Let's change it up.
- 38:40SPEAKER_16: We can, you know.
- 38:41SPEAKER_13: We can always come back and do that.
- 38:43SPEAKER_16: Nah, well, it's our podcast.
- 38:44SPEAKER_16: We can do whatever we want.
- 38:46SPEAKER_16: Our podcast thingy.
- 38:47SPEAKER_16: Right, our podcast thingy.
- 38:49SPEAKER_13: Uh this is a list from ultimate classicrock.com.
- 38:53SPEAKER_13: No.
- 38:54SPEAKER_13: Shh bro shush.
- 38:58SPEAKER_13: Ten 90s rock bands that deserve more respect.
- 39:03SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 39:04SPEAKER_13: I can get behind that.
- 39:05SPEAKER_13: Yeah, absolutely.
- 39:06SPEAKER_13: It depends on who the bands are.
- 39:07SPEAKER_13: Well, yeah, exactly.
- 39:08SPEAKER_13: That's of course.
- 39:10SPEAKER_13: Um 90 90s rock bands that deserve more respect.
- 39:13SPEAKER_13: This I agree with.
- 39:15SPEAKER_13: Allison Chains.
- 39:16SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah.
- 39:17SPEAKER_13: I think I guess what what do you mean by respect though?
- 39:21SPEAKER_13: Because I think Is it because they're still making music and people should be going out to see him?
- 39:27SPEAKER_13: Obviously, right?
- 39:28SPEAKER_13: Because I think in the 90s they were one of the biggest bands out there, right?
- 39:34SPEAKER_16: They were, but they weren't they weren't as popul I mean, because Nirvana, like over short shadows.
- 39:42SPEAKER_13: Everyone shout at everybody, every everyone?
- 39:44SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:45SPEAKER_16: I mean, they uh Alice and Chains was kinda at the bottom of the totem pole as far as 90s grunge.
- 39:52SPEAKER_16: You think so?
- 39:52SPEAKER_13: Do you think uh STP was more popular than Alice?
- 39:56SPEAKER_16: For a while, yeah.
- 39:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 39:57SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 39:58SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 39:59SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 39:59SPEAKER_16: I I think Alice was kind of niche, because in even in in Grunge, I think they were still kind of niche.
- 40:07SPEAKER_16: Because I don't think anybody really I don't, you know, they weren't as well promoted.
- 40:16SPEAKER_16: You know what I mean?
- 40:16SPEAKER_16: Because it was everything was Nirvana, everything was SoundGarden, you know.
- 40:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_16: Those guys.
- 40:23SPEAKER_16: You were still dealing with the remnants of uh, you know, hair metal.
- 40:27SPEAKER_16: Yeah still.
- 40:28SPEAKER_16: You know, so these guys kind of got lost in the shuffle a little bit.
- 40:32SPEAKER_13: I suppose that's true.
- 40:33SPEAKER_13: Um, one of the reasons I think uh is they couldn't get away from, even though they had some awesome music, awesome songs, Rooster is awesome.
- 40:47SPEAKER_16: Yeah, Man in the Box.
- 40:48SPEAKER_13: Would I was gonna say they couldn't get away from Man in the Box.
- 40:52SPEAKER_13: I don't know if it was because of the video or well, it was kind of a disturbing video, but it was a disturbing video, but it was also when you think of Alice and Chains, that's the song you think of Man in the Box.
- 41:03SPEAKER_13: That's the thought song the casual Alice and Chains fan or whatever thinks of as Man of the Box.
- 41:09SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 41:09SPEAKER_13: When you think of nineties rock, nineties country, Man in the Box is one of the first songs that comes up.
- 41:15SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 41:15SPEAKER_13: You know?
- 41:16SPEAKER_13: And then it's like they they released all these other songs that were pretty great.
- 41:23SPEAKER_13: Uh dark, you know, uh and brooding, but still great.
- 41:28SPEAKER_13: Um, but they don't get as much recognition as Man in the Box did.
- 41:31SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 41:31SPEAKER_13: You know what I mean?
- 41:32SPEAKER_13: I see.
- 41:33SPEAKER_13: Although Rooster is pretty up there.
- 41:35SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I think.
- 41:37SPEAKER_13: Uh, let's see.
- 41:38SPEAKER_13: Another one.
- 41:39SPEAKER_13: Cranberries.
- 41:41SPEAKER_16: Which is a shame.
- 41:43SPEAKER_13: It is.
- 41:43SPEAKER_13: The whole thing is a shame, yeah.
- 41:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 41:45SPEAKER_16: So um they had some pretty great stuff in the 90s.
- 41:48SPEAKER_13: They did.
- 41:49SPEAKER_13: Actually, I told you my chorus is doing zombie.
- 41:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 41:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_13: Um so uh there's zombie, there's linger.
- 41:57SPEAKER_13: What else was there?
- 41:59SPEAKER_13: That's all anybody knows.
- 42:00SPEAKER_13: That's all anybody knows.
- 42:01SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 42:01SPEAKER_13: That's all I know.
- 42:02SPEAKER_13: I'm sure there was a lot more.
- 42:04SPEAKER_13: But oh I'm sure too, but Oh oh, Ode to My Family.
- 42:07SPEAKER_13: No, that was a good one.
- 42:08SPEAKER_13: Did you do you remember Ode to My Family?
- 42:09SPEAKER_13: Uh vaguely.
- 42:10SPEAKER_13: Hmm, let me do that.
- 42:12SPEAKER_13: Because only because I remember that.
- 42:15SPEAKER_13: Uh and I really like that song, actually.
- 42:18SPEAKER_13: Not that I didn't like the other ones.
- 42:22SPEAKER_13: Uh of course, you know, Dolores Rorden, the just a uh fantastic singer, songwriter, and uh such a tragedy what happened there, if you don't know.
- 42:34SPEAKER_13: The new song she took her own life, right?
- 42:38SPEAKER_13: Am I right?
- 42:38SPEAKER_16: No, I don't think so.
- 42:40SPEAKER_16: I thought she mm, I think it was.
- 42:42SPEAKER_16: She might have.
- 42:42SPEAKER_16: I don't I don't really remember.
- 42:44SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I think it was.
- 42:48SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_13: This is called Ode to My Family.
- 42:50SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay, I didn't know that.
- 42:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 42:52unknown: Hold on.
- 43:01SPEAKER_13: So I don't wanna s I wanna say something and then um be completely wrong here.
- 43:07SPEAKER_13: So I want to look this up.
- 43:14SPEAKER_13: You remember the song though?
- 43:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_16: Well, as soon as it came on, I was like, oh yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_16: Duh, I knew the song.
- 43:20SPEAKER_16: I just I I guess I didn't know the title.
- 43:22SPEAKER_16: Uh but I knew it was Cranberry.
- 43:24SPEAKER_16: You can you can tell Cranberry songs because you can tell her voice.
- 43:27SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 43:27SPEAKER_16: It's very distinctive.
- 43:30SPEAKER_13: Um wasn't that long ago.
- 43:36SPEAKER_13: It wasn't that long ago?
- 43:37SPEAKER_13: Why did I think that it was a long time ago that she ah, it was she passed.
- 43:42SPEAKER_16: Within like five years, I think.
- 44:01SPEAKER_13: I'm I'm reading.
- 44:02SPEAKER_13: Just enjoy the music while I read here.
- 44:11SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 44:13SPEAKER_13: The uh the Wikipedia on the Grant the Dor the Dolores O'Rourden is quite extensive.
- 44:23SPEAKER_13: Quite extensive.
- 44:25SPEAKER_13: Um she did.
- 44:36SPEAKER_13: It was in 2017.
- 44:39SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I was about to say it wasn't that long ago.
- 44:41SPEAKER_13: I'm not sure why I thought it was like early to early 2000s, like 2005.
- 44:49SPEAKER_13: But uh obviously I was wrong.
- 44:52SPEAKER_13: Um she was found unresponsive in the bathroom.
- 44:55SPEAKER_13: Um was it drugs?
- 44:58SPEAKER_13: Uh an accidental drowning in a bath followed by sedation, uh alcohol intoxication, empty bottles were found in her room, um, as well as prescription drugs, but uh she had left a she's she had started a suicide note.
- 45:13SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 45:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah, so still, I mean tragic.
- 45:16SPEAKER_13: Yeah, very tragic.
- 45:18SPEAKER_13: Uh because cranberries were fantastic.
- 45:21SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 45:21SPEAKER_13: You know?
- 45:22SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 45:23SPEAKER_13: Yeah, zombie's still one of my favorite songs.
- 45:25SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 45:26SPEAKER_13: So well, come see my chorus to it.
- 45:28SPEAKER_13: You won't take that anymore.
- 45:29SPEAKER_13: Oh, did I say that at all?
- 45:31SPEAKER_13: I'm just kidding.
- 45:31SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 45:32SPEAKER_12: I am just kidding.
- 45:33SPEAKER_13: Take that! Well, you know what?
- 45:34SPEAKER_13: If they do a poor job, it's my fault because I wrote out the the arrangement.
- 45:38SPEAKER_13: So yeah.
- 45:40SPEAKER_13: So if if uh it it goes wrong, then it's not on them, it's on me.
- 45:44SPEAKER_16: Did you show them the video?
- 45:45SPEAKER_13: Oh, they know the song.
- 45:46SPEAKER_13: They suggested the song.
- 45:47SPEAKER_13: Really?
- 45:48SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah, they know they love the song.
- 45:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah, um, do you know uh do you remember our buddy Chad?
- 45:53SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 45:54SPEAKER_13: Uh his daughter suggested it.
- 45:56SPEAKER_13: She's in my chorus.
- 45:57SPEAKER_13: She's a senior this year.
- 45:58SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 45:58SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I know it's crazy.
- 46:01SPEAKER_13: So um, yeah, she's the one that suggested it, and I was like, ah, I wonder if there's a choral arrangement of that.
- 46:07SPEAKER_13: And there kind of was.
- 46:10SPEAKER_13: So I uh adapted it and kind of rearranged a couple things, and and we started to we started to learn it, and I think it's gonna be cool.
- 46:18SPEAKER_13: I think once once we get it, it's gonna be cool.
- 46:20SPEAKER_13: I'm excited.
- 46:21SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 46:22SPEAKER_13: Uh let's go back to 1090s rock bands that deserve more uh recognition.
- 46:28SPEAKER_13: Stone Table Violets, we mentioned them.
- 46:31SPEAKER_16: I don't know why they need more respect.
- 46:33SPEAKER_16: I mean they there was nothing wrong with them.
- 46:36SPEAKER_16: No, I don't either.
- 46:37SPEAKER_13: I mean That's why uh this article is kind of odd to me.
- 46:42SPEAKER_13: Um they deserve more respect.
- 46:43SPEAKER_13: Is that because they're still touring and nobody's gonna see them?
- 46:47SPEAKER_13: Is that what they mean?
- 46:48SPEAKER_16: Are they still touring?
- 46:50SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 46:51SPEAKER_13: They have a new singer.
- 46:52SPEAKER_13: Uh now that you say that.
- 46:56SPEAKER_13: I thought they did they did have a new singer.
- 47:02SPEAKER_13: Maybe maybe they aren't.
- 47:05SPEAKER_16: I haven't I haven't seen or heard from them in forever.
- 47:09SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you're right.
- 47:10SPEAKER_13: Actually, since since Scott Wyland cast, they probably they probably aren't doing anything.
- 47:15SPEAKER_13: I know they've got a couple of their bands going.
- 47:17SPEAKER_13: But I thought they were like uh cause Alice, you know, they replaced uh Lane Staley.
- 47:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 47:22SPEAKER_13: Um I thought they had uh too, but I couldn't do it.
- 47:29SPEAKER_16: Revolver.
- 47:30SPEAKER_16: Revolver, revolver.
- 47:34SPEAKER_13: And you know, a lot of that had to do with Wyland.
- 47:37SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 47:38SPEAKER_13: Uh he had he had a lot of charisma.
- 47:40SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah, he was a great friend.
- 47:48SPEAKER_16: I'm gonna Google stuff.
- 47:50SPEAKER_13: Okay, so this this next band.
- 47:55SPEAKER_13: I've wanted to do this song forever.
- 47:59SPEAKER_13: Not this one.
- 48:02SPEAKER_13: Hey, did you hear about this?
- 48:03SPEAKER_13: What Zach Braff and uh The possibility that Scrubs is coming back?
- 48:08SPEAKER_16: Oh, that would be great.
- 48:09SPEAKER_13: It's gotta be the original with the same action.
- 48:12SPEAKER_13: Oh, well, then that's perfect.
- 48:13SPEAKER_16: That's what I that show is just wonderful.
- 48:15SPEAKER_13: I read that, I read it somewhere.
- 48:17SPEAKER_11: Reluctantly crouched line.
- 48:20SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 48:20SPEAKER_11: Yes, I love this song.
- 48:22SPEAKER_11: The distance in time, the green light flashes, the flags go up.
- 48:26SPEAKER_11: This comes on the radio and my kids are in the car, I crank it.
- 48:28SPEAKER_11: They're like maneuver and muscle for rank.
- 48:31SPEAKER_11: Fuel burning fast on an empty tank.
- 48:34SPEAKER_11: Didn't we talk about doing this?
- 48:35SPEAKER_11: We didn't heal this?
- 48:36SPEAKER_11: Absolutely.
- 48:40SPEAKER_11: The flags go down, the fans get up, and they get out of town.
- 48:44SPEAKER_11: The arena is empty, except for one man still driving and driving as fast as they can.
- 48:50SPEAKER_11: The sun has gone down, and the moon has gone up, and up it goes up but they left with such a unique thing.
- 48:56SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 48:58SPEAKER_16: Then we see them with uh boost traveler.
- 49:01SPEAKER_16: Oh, that's cracker.
- 49:02SPEAKER_16: Sorry, that's cracker.
- 49:07SPEAKER_16: I knew it was a food fan.
- 49:23SPEAKER_13: I would say they deserve more respect just because of their uniqueness.
- 49:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 49:28SPEAKER_16: Oh, they they differ they yeah, you couldn't pigeonhole those guys.
- 49:31SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 49:32SPEAKER_13: Here's another band that garbage.
- 49:34SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 49:35SPEAKER_13: Garbage is Jeremy Manson.
- 49:36SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 49:37SPEAKER_16: And uh Bruch Big.
- 49:39SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 49:40SPEAKER_13: Butch.
- 49:41SPEAKER_13: Butch.
- 49:41SPEAKER_13: Yeah, Bruce.
- 49:42SPEAKER_13: Yeah, butch.
- 49:42SPEAKER_13: Started with the B.
- 49:43SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_15: I had the B right.
- 50:03SPEAKER_13: You know, we even though I still believe that both the 80s and the 60s had better music.
- 50:15SPEAKER_13: There was some great music in the 90s.
- 50:16SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 50:17SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 50:17SPEAKER_16: Especially the early, uh like early midnight.
- 50:20SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:28SPEAKER_13: She was always oddly attractive to me.
- 50:30SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 50:32SPEAKER_16: You couldn't, you can't pay, you can't, you know, you you know, you wouldn't think, you know, she doesn't come up on the list of like all hottest cigarettes or anything.
- 50:39SPEAKER_16: But there's something about her you're like, whoa.
- 50:41SPEAKER_16: There is, yeah.
- 50:48SPEAKER_03: Um you have to lose.
- 50:52SPEAKER_13: So Garbage, of course, is one of those ten bands.
- 50:55SPEAKER_13: Now, this band.
- 50:58SPEAKER_13: Um, I don't know if they deserved to more respect.
- 51:03SPEAKER_13: I don't know much about them, to be honest.
- 51:04SPEAKER_13: Who is it?
- 51:05SPEAKER_13: Um well, we play one of their songs.
- 51:07SPEAKER_04: Who is it?
- 51:08SPEAKER_13: We play one of their songs.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: I got this one.
- 51:13SPEAKER_13: Not that You got what?
- 51:14SPEAKER_13: Not that.
- 51:14SPEAKER_13: What is it?
- 51:15SPEAKER_16: It's all Olive Olay.
- 51:18SPEAKER_13: Not olive.
- 51:19SPEAKER_12: No, I don't know what to do.
- 51:20SPEAKER_16: Oh, blur.
- 51:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 51:24SPEAKER_12: This is the only song I know.
- 51:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah, this is the only song I know, too.
- 51:28SPEAKER_16: And we do this one.
- 51:29SPEAKER_16: Yes, we do.
- 51:42SPEAKER_16: I think when we first started doing this song, I think we played it once and we were like, yeah, we can pretty much play this out right now.
- 51:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 51:50SPEAKER_13: It's one of those songs.
- 51:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah, you know, well, it is a bit hard.
- 51:54SPEAKER_13: Wasn't this song, didn't they like make it up as they were writing it?
- 51:57SPEAKER_16: I think so.
- 51:57SPEAKER_16: They must have, because the lyrics just make no sense.
- 52:00SPEAKER_16: And they're super easy.
- 52:02SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:06SPEAKER_16: Woo! Woohoo! Yeah.
- 52:11SPEAKER_16: I I I I don't know why they would I I don't know.
- 52:14SPEAKER_16: They're just kind of on the Like I said, I I don't know any other songs.
- 52:17SPEAKER_16: I mean, that's basically it.
- 52:18SPEAKER_16: That's all I know.
- 52:19SPEAKER_13: Song two is the only one mentioned in this article, too.
- 52:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah, so I mean, I don't know why they would deserve more respect, but um whatever.
- 52:24SPEAKER_13: What I don't know what you just said before, because there was a misheard lyric or something.
- 52:29SPEAKER_13: Uh anyway, I have to share this because I'm gonna embarrass him now.
- 52:36SPEAKER_13: We're on the way home uh today.
- 52:37SPEAKER_13: I picked up um two of my kids from practice, basketball practice, and uh uh actually no.
- 52:43SPEAKER_13: Uh it was I picked him up after school.
- 52:45SPEAKER_13: We were coming home.
- 52:46SPEAKER_13: Anyway, we're in the car.
- 52:47SPEAKER_13: And my daughter started singing the the Star Spangled Banner.
- 52:50SPEAKER_13: And she's messing up the words.
- 52:53SPEAKER_13: You know, I mean she's she's got most of them, but she goes she goes from one line to like a line later in the song.
- 52:59SPEAKER_13: You know, I just kinda and I think, you know, that's that's all right.
- 53:01SPEAKER_13: And then of course my my Finn um my almost 15 year old next week.
- 53:08SPEAKER_13: Um, so he started singing and started better.
- 53:25SPEAKER_13: By Daonderly Light.
- 53:29SPEAKER_13: And I said by the light by the Daonderly Light.
- 53:36SPEAKER_13: And I said, What did you say?
- 53:38SPEAKER_13: What do you mean?
- 53:39SPEAKER_13: The Daonderly?
- 53:41SPEAKER_13: That's what it is.
- 53:45SPEAKER_13: Like Dude, it's by the Dawn's early light.
- 53:51SPEAKER_13: Well, it sounds like Daunderly.
- 53:54SPEAKER_13: By the Daunderly Okay, I'll give you that.
- 53:58SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 54:02SPEAKER_12: Man, I was wrong all these years.
- 54:05SPEAKER_13: Uh this one I don't agree with.
- 54:07SPEAKER_13: I don't know why.
- 54:09SPEAKER_13: Um I don't think they deserve more respect.
- 54:14SPEAKER_13: I never liked them.
- 54:14SPEAKER_13: I didn't either.
- 54:15SPEAKER_16: I never cared for anything.
- 54:16SPEAKER_16: And it has nothing to do with Courtney Love.
- 54:19SPEAKER_16: What was it?
- 54:19SPEAKER_16: I just I just never I don't even I can't even I can't even tell you a whole song.
- 54:23SPEAKER_13: There was one song I do what I did.
- 54:26SPEAKER_13: Hole uh there was one song that I remember that I didn't mind.
- 54:34SPEAKER_13: Oh, doll parts.
- 54:36SPEAKER_12: I don't have a clue.
- 54:37SPEAKER_13: And it's not even it's not even that great a song.
- 54:41SPEAKER_13: Um Chick fil A commercial.
- 54:44SPEAKER_13: But I think I like the uh the riff.
- 54:46SPEAKER_13: I think I you know I I think that's what it was.
- 54:49SPEAKER_13: I don't like really like dolly dolls.
- 55:01SPEAKER_13: Maybe it wasn't this song.
- 55:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they really want you they really want to do that.
- 55:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I don't get it.
- 55:17SPEAKER_13: It's drugs, is what I said.
- 55:19SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I never cared for a whole nor did I.
- 55:23SPEAKER_13: Third eye blind.
- 55:26SPEAKER_16: I I don't know.
- 55:28SPEAKER_16: I mean, I mean that semi-term kind of life song is pretty good.
- 55:31SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 55:32SPEAKER_16: But other than that, I mean, I don't really know any other stuff.
- 55:36SPEAKER_16: So I mean, I don't know.
- 55:37SPEAKER_16: I mean, what have.
- 55:38SPEAKER_13: There was this one.
- 55:40SPEAKER_13: Uh this is Jumper.
- 55:43SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, I do remember this song.
- 55:44SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 55:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 55:49SPEAKER_13: So you said semi-charmed life, jumper.
- 55:53SPEAKER_13: There was another one.
- 55:56SPEAKER_13: I mean, I'm sure they had a lot.
- 55:58SPEAKER_13: Oh, I'm sure you're not.
- 55:58SPEAKER_04: But it's the uh there was another one.
- 56:12SPEAKER_13: Did you know he was in that movie uh Rockstar?
- 56:16SPEAKER_16: No.
- 56:16SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 56:17SPEAKER_16: I never saw that.
- 56:18SPEAKER_13: You never did?
- 56:18SPEAKER_13: No.
- 56:19SPEAKER_13: Oh, that's uh kind of a neat movie.
- 56:21SPEAKER_13: Um I'm looking for the song lists.
- 56:32SPEAKER_13: Oh, how's it gonna be?
- 56:34SPEAKER_13: How's it gonna be?
- 56:36SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 56:36SPEAKER_13: That was another big one.
- 56:37SPEAKER_13: Okay, all from the same album.
- 56:40SPEAKER_13: I don't know that they had any hits after that.
- 56:45SPEAKER_13: Um there were like three or four songs.
- 56:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I'm looking at their second album, I don't recognize any of those songs.
- 56:56SPEAKER_13: Um their third album came out in 2003, and that had I don't recognize any of those songs.
- 57:06SPEAKER_13: So yeah, I don't know.
- 57:09SPEAKER_13: Uh more respect?
- 57:12SPEAKER_13: You know, I uh they had their first album was great.
- 57:16SPEAKER_13: They had a lot of hits.
- 57:17SPEAKER_16: Yeah, and then after that they're just gonna hmm.
- 57:18SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 57:19SPEAKER_13: Uh Blind Melon had one big one.
- 57:24SPEAKER_16: Well that wasn't their fault.
- 57:26SPEAKER_13: No, that's true.
- 57:27SPEAKER_16: So I mean Shannon Moon died.
- 57:29SPEAKER_16: So what are you gonna do?
- 57:33SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 57:34SPEAKER_16: So but I mean, again, I mean they I I like to think that they would have gone on to bigger and better things.
- 57:41SPEAKER_16: But we don't know.
- 57:42SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 57:42SPEAKER_16: You know, so it's kind of a you know, it's kinda like you know, what if kind of scenario.
- 57:48SPEAKER_13: The last one on their list, I've gotta say, I don't really remember.
- 57:53SPEAKER_13: Um 311?
- 57:57SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 57:58SPEAKER_13: See, I don't remember I didn't really.
- 58:02SPEAKER_16: I mean, they were pretty good.
- 58:03SPEAKER_16: They were they kind of reminded me of like uh offspring or you know, stuff like that, but I they were not they weren't remarkable to me.
- 58:11SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 58:12SPEAKER_16: You know, just kind of like whatever.
- 58:15SPEAKER_13: Alright, so let's pick, because that's their list.
- 58:17SPEAKER_13: 311 was the last one on this list.
- 58:18SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 58:19SPEAKER_13: Let's pick two more at least two more of who you would put on this list.
- 58:26SPEAKER_13: A 90s band that you believe deserves more respect.
- 58:33SPEAKER_13: It doesn't have to be like an alternative band or a grunge band or anything.
- 58:38SPEAKER_13: Somebody that deserves more respect.
- 58:43SPEAKER_13: I've got one.
- 58:45SPEAKER_16: I think I think uh I think trickster to be honest with you.
- 58:49SPEAKER_16: They were pretty great.
- 58:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 58:52SPEAKER_16: I mean they came in, you know, at the end of the um you know hair band era.
- 58:57SPEAKER_16: But I think they you know, they kind of kept going because they were pretty young.
- 59:01SPEAKER_16: They were still they were like 18 when the album came out.
- 59:04SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 59:04SPEAKER_16: You know what I mean?
- 59:06SPEAKER_16: Right out of high school.
- 59:07SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 59:07SPEAKER_16: You know, I think they could have gone on to a bigger matter thing.
- 59:09SPEAKER_16: Oh, let's get the tricky album.
- 59:12SPEAKER_13: I mean that's I I agree with that.
- 59:14SPEAKER_16: I mean I think NWA.
- 59:21SPEAKER_13: One at a time here.
- 59:23SPEAKER_13: Uh let's see.
- 59:24SPEAKER_13: What should I do?
- 59:25SPEAKER_13: Should I do the big the the the debut song that they had?
- 59:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah, do that uh one in a million song.
- 59:30SPEAKER_16: I like that one better.
- 59:33SPEAKER_13: So that would be on the same album, though.
- 59:36SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it was the same album.
- 59:37SPEAKER_16: But I like that song better.
- 59:41SPEAKER_13: No, I don't want Boy Lole.
- 59:43SPEAKER_16: Oh, hey, wh what are you guys doing?
- 59:46SPEAKER_16: Hey, Santa Claus is on there.
- 59:49SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_16: It's like this album came out, and it was like at the like, like is it at the beginning of grinds at the end of hair metal and all of a sudden they just got lost.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_16: I mean, just literally just nothing.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_16: It was like they were there and then there weren't.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_16: You know what I mean?
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_13: And um Steve Brown.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_13: Brown.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_13: Thank you.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_13: Steve Brown, the guitar player.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_13: Um played with Def Leopard.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_13: Did you know that?
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_16: I think I did know that.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_13: I think uh because it was Vivian Campbell had cancer.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_13: And was uh out of the they were still touring.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_13: And so he had to go have treatments and stuff like that.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_13: So Steve Brown, who's a big Def Leopard fan, yeah, filled in and it was great.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_13: I think, you know, I think he filled in on the No, I'm thinking of something else.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_13: But yeah.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I think these guys, they they could have, you know, if they came out, you know, earlier or later.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_16: I think they would have been bigger than they were.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_13: I agree with that.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_13: Uh let's see.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_13: You said NWA.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_13: I don't think I'm gonna play anything.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_13: So you can think get think of something that's appropriate.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_16: Express yourself.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_13: Does that have any Noah?
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_16: Uh you know, I just I don't think I don't think they got the credit that they deserved.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I mean they were But they were kinda cutting edge as far as brothers out there flaking and perpetrating, but scared to kick reality.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_09: Man, you've been doing all this dope but dirty and had a chance to show them what time it is.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_09: So what you want me to do?
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_01: And now I'm gonna correct it.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: I still express your I don't smoke weed or sacks.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: Cause it's known to give her brother brain damage and brain.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_13: There you go.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_13: So that's your two.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_13: Um I I I I don't know that I have like um it kind of imploded on themselves.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_16: It really was.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_16: But I mean, I think if they'd stuck together, I think it would have been I think they would have done gone on to bigger.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_16: I mean, individually.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_16: Like Dre and Ice Cube, they've all gone on to bigger and better things.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_16: You know.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_16: I mean, they're basically icons now, along with Snoop Dogg.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_16: You know, so I mean, you know, but if they'd stay together, I I I always wondered what they would have done if they'd stay together.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_16: So that's just me.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_13: I have two.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna go with this one first.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_16: I don't know what this is.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_16: Oh, Tonic.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_16: Tonic.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_13: Completely underrated.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_13: I think.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_13: Um, Emerson Hart on vocals.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_13: Um.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_13: I probably could have played a song that you know instead.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_13: Uh but I love this song.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_13: This is called Soldier's Daughter.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_13: I'm not gonna play the whole thing, but just I love the way this album sounds.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_13: Jack Joseph Pewick is the producer and the mixer, and just the way this the guitars are layered.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: It's the way he looks at you.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_02: Says to me.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_13: Listen to that guitar in the background, just under the under everything.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_02: From the outside.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_13: That like crunch.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_13: Just gonna wait till the drums come in because it's so thick.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_13: The album.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_13: The music on the album is just so thick.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_02: You can bend to care.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_13: Uh and they have, of course, they have songs that you probably know.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_13: Um If You Could Only See.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_13: Um Lemon Parade.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_16: Lemon Parade.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_13: Um Open Up Your Eyes.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_13: Which is uh cool song.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_13: I love this song.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_13: Celtic Aggression.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_13: Do you remember this song?
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_15: There you go.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_10: I love the layer of guitar.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_13: I don't know if they didn't get a lot of respect, but I thought they were a great band that deserved more than disappearing.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_13: You know who it is.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_16: Oh, it's Jim Bob.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_13: This was a big hit from uh was it Empire Records?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_13: It's on the soundtrack, Empire Records.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_16: No, uh Follow Me Down.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_16: Follow You Down was on Empire Records.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_13: Are you sure?
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_13: I worked in radio.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_13: I think this one was.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_16: I don't remember this being on that.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_16: It might have been, I don't remember, but all I remember is following.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_13: I think I remember the um the because the CVs came in singles.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_13: And it had Liv Tyler.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_13: That was Empire Records.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_13: Had Liv Tyler on the cover, and this song was the single.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_16: I did, I I don't remember.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_12: Still, great song.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_13: This is the one you're talking about.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_16: This one's on Empire.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_16: I don't know what that was for.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_13: I thought of another one, but another band, but I suppose they were an 80s band.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_13: Delimetri.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_13: Yeah, they were they came out in the late late 80s, because I think as um The Last to Know would have been an 80s song, I think.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_13: Toad was an 80s band too, wasn't it?
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_13: Originally.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_16: Uh late 80s, yeah.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_13: Or maybe there was 90s.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_16: I think late 80s, yeah.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_13: But if they were 90s, then I think they were one of them as well.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_13: That deserve more respect.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_13: But anyway, I love Jim Blossoms and I love Tonic.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_13: I think those are two fantastic.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_13: Great bands.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_13: So those are bands we thought should have been should have been bigger or should have uh gotten more respect than they were given.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_13: So there you go.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_13: Uh let's do Let's Play Big Stick! I gotta get some music because to go and coincide with that amazing intro.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_16: Yeah, we need to.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_13: I don't know what it would be, but it's gotta be something heavy.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_16: Like ah like speed metal.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_13: Oh I can something thrashy.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_13: Something thrashy.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_13: Alright, hold on.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_13: Let me uh let me do this.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_16: I have to pull the I have to pull it out.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna have you I'm gonna have you I'm gonna have you do the intro again.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_13: Hold on.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_13: Because I wanna I wanna get you a uh uh a good intro here.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_13: Good some some good music.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_13: And it's okay.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah, because it's it's vitally important.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_13: It is.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_13: Because it just it kind of falls flat.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_13: Uh should we do something from uh your favorite band?
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_16: Um which one not that one um if it's gonna be any if you're gonna play Metallica, it's gotta be damage.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_16: Damage incorporated.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_16: I don't think I have that.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_13: Uh yeah, I don't think I have that one.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_16: It's gotta be that one.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_16: That's the one.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_16: That'll be the intro.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_13: Damage?
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_16: Damage, damage incorporated.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_13: I'll look for it.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_13: Well actually, I don't know.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_13: We have the technology.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I mean, it starts off slightly.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_16: Oh, does it?
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_16: Well I see.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_16: Is that Denzel Washington?
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_16: I don't know what that is.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_13: I don't know what that is.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_13: Where where does it pick up?
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_13: Right here, probably.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_13: Alright, so it's time for Max Dr.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I'll use that.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_16: Yeah, all right, just like that.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_13: Okay, so past, present, future.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_13: Let's do the past.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_16: Oh, for the past.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_16: I got I got retrieve my cellure device.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_16: Hold on.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_13: Here we go.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_13: What was last week's question?
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_13: Do you remember?
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_16: Oh, it was the Godfather one, the cry boss one.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_16: So this is what our lovely and talented judge said.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_16: Uh this this week's picks were for mixed mixed.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_16: She says take, but I think she meant take.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_16: Of course she did.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_16: We're great.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_16: I enjoyed listening to them.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_16: Not going to lie, I was I was confused by the song Little Green Bag.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_16: So I did a little more research into that song, but it was a good pick, and I could see why O'Brien picked it.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_16: I had to go with Godfather Waltz, though.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_16: It would be the perfect background music for walking into the crime bosses establishment at the end of the movie.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_16: Domination sounds like it would be the perfect action sequence background song for when you're saving the crime bosses behind.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_16: And Little Green Bag would be the perfect ending sequence song for when you're walking out of the establishment with probably a little extra cash in your pocket.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_16: There you go.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_16: So that works.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_16: So Cousin Larry is the beginna.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_16: I love how much thought she puts into it.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_16: She does.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_16: I mean, she really goes into this.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_16: No, it's cool.
- 1:11:35unknown: All right.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_16: She's wicked Smat.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_13: Present.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_12: Present.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_12: Present.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_13: Actually, actually, hold on a second.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_13: Oh.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_13: I I don't mean to do this to you.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_13: Um I gotta go, I gotta go to the bathroom.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_16: Okay, so am I am I talking again?
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_16: Hey, it's Myra.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_16: Hey Myra.
- 1:11:53unknown: Hi.

- 1:11:54SPEAKER_16: Hey, sit yeah, talk.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_16: Yeah, go ahead and use your dad's microphone.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_16: Hey, what's going on?
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_16: How's your day?
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_16: Was it good?
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah?
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_16: What'd you do?
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_16: Besides school.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_16: What'd you anything cool?
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_16: Anything cool happened at school today?
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_16: No?
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_16: Really?
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_16: Nothing like in gym class.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_16: Didn't learn anything.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_02: Like you were like, whoa, I didn't know that, dude.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_16: No?
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_16: Well.

- 1:12:31SPEAKER_16: All the games?
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_16: No, no, no.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_16: You can't win them all, right?
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_16: Yeah, someday.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_16: Some days you guys would be like undefeated.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_16: You'd be like, uh, we won every game ever.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_16: Right?

- 1:13:02SPEAKER_16: Tell me a story.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_08: First thing when I came down here is I thought that dad was fighting up a storm.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_16: He was fighting up a storm?
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_16: Farting.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_08: Oh, farting.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_16: Well, he might have.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_16: You don't know.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_16: I mean he had to leave, you know, suddenly.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_16: So we don't know what's going on up there.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_16: I don't really want to know.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_16: You know what I mean?
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_16: Oh, is that him?
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_16: Doesn't sound like him.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_16: I don't either.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_16: So I heard you watched uh Adventures Adventures of the Wilderness Family this weekend.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_16: Pretty good movie?
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah?
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_16: You liked it?
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_16: Oh, that's your mom.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_16: Hey, this is a great podcast now.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_16: So what else is new?

- 1:13:54SPEAKER_16: Tell me.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_16: What's going on?
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_16: You don't know?
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_08: Anything?
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_16: Nothing?
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_16: Nothing?
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_16: Hey Therese, how's it going?

- 1:14:28SPEAKER_08: I'll have a dog.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_16: You're gonna want a dog.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_16: Okay, what kind of dog are we gonna get?
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_16: Okay, three dogs.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_16: Three dogs is good.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_16: You know, you get the power trio going on with the dogs.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_16: But the question is what kind of dogs are they gonna be?
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_08: First is a golden retriever.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_16: Okay, good choice.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_08: A pug.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_16: A pug?
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_08: And probably an Aussie.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_08: An Australian shepherd.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_16: Oh, an Australian shepherd.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_16: Why?
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_16: Why why an Australian shepherd?
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_16: You don't know?
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_16: You know what I always wanted?
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_16: Was one of those Bernese mountain dogs.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_16: You ever seen that?
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_08: Oh yes, that's the thing.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_16: The big, big, huge, fluffy ones?
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_16: Yeah, those are those are cool dogs.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_16: When I was a mailman, I used to have one on my route.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_16: And he was just he was just like a big he was like a big baby.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_16: He loved me.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_16: He was great.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_16: He used to come out and like just like you know, you know.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_16: Just like hang out with me.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_16: He loved the mailman.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_16: So what can I say?
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_16: It was great.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_16: So we're gonna have so yeah, Australian Shepherd, a pug, and a golden retriever.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_16: Okay, do we have names yet?
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_08: Well, the golden retriever buddy.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_16: Buddy, okay, that works.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_08: Probably pug.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_08: I'm not like for sure of this scrunchie because their faces are.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_16: Oh, because their faces are kind of scrunchy up?
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I get that.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_16: I was gonna call I was gonna say Steve.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_16: Should call a pug Steve.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_16: I don't know why.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_16: Just that was just an idea.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_16: Okay, so we got so we got Buddy and Steve uh Scrunchy.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_16: Sorry.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_16: Australian Roger.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_16: Roger?
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_16: I was gonna say Ozzy.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_16: That would that kind of works.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_16: But yeah, I like Roger too.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_16: Roger's a Roger.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_08: Roger for the golden retriever.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_08: And then Buddy for the German or for the Aussie.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_16: That works.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_16: Now where are we gonna keep these amazing dogs at?
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_16: Are they gonna be outside dogs, inside dogs, what are they gonna be?
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_16: Both?
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_16: Are they gonna be like like are you gonna be like build like a big pen for them to run in, or are they just gonna be like, go outside and run free and big dogs?
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_16: Oh, a fenced in area?
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_16: Are you now you're gonna do that electronic fence thing where you know if they go over a certain thing they get shocked colors?
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_16: No, okay.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_16: That's kind of mean, I think.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_08: I think like I'd get them like a shock color if they were doing doing something bad.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_16: And then like I'd have a remote and like Oh, just do whatever, and it's just like, hey, you're not doing right?
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_16: I think you should get one for your dad and put it on him.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_16: That's just me.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_16: Oh, he's back.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_08: Sounds like you were fighting up Kingo.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_16: That's been the O'Mara.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_16: That's been the Omira and Doug podcast.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_16: Bye, Myra! O'Myra?
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_12: Broch.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_16: Brochuresh.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_12: Brochures.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_13: So I don't know what you guys talked about.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_16: Well, I guess you're just gonna have to learn something to find out.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_13: Um it was fascinating.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_13: Slight observation.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_13: Can they make toilet paper rolls easier to start?
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_16: They should.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_13: Right?
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_13: Because you have to rip the whole thing.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you gotta you gotta use like half the roll before it comes off.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_13: It's like and it's like do you throw that away?
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_16: No, you use it up, man.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_13: I mean it's like to hold he softness.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_16: Do I use that?
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_16: Or now you just roll it up in the in the in the in the roll.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_16: Right, of course.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_16: It's just a little extra security, if you know what I'm saying.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_13: So what did you guys say that happened?
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_13: What did you say that I went to do?
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_16: Moisa, you went to the bathroom.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_16: So we're not gonna lie on this podcast.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_16: We're not we're not liars.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_16: Okay, good.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_16: We're not politicians here.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_13: I don't know what happened.
- 1:19:07SPEAKER_13: Prairie dogging it there for a little while, so I'm not sure.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_16: Hey, that's it.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_16: It happens, man.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_16: So I forgot what we were doing.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_13: We were doing mixtape.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_13: So we did the past and we were about to do the present.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_16: Present.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_16: Okay, so that was present.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_16: The question is what is the saddest song in all of history?
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_13: Very subjective.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_13: What did Cousin Larry say?
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_13: It is subjective, yeah.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_16: So this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_13: Let me get ready here.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_13: Go ahead.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_16: So my first thought was taps.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_16: However, my understanding is that it's technically not a song, but a signal.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_16: Which he's technically right.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_16: I thought about Tears in Heaven, hurt the Johnny Cash version, I Will Remember You by Sarah McLaughlin.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_16: The Unforgiven by Metallica, among the numerous sad songs out there.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_16: But I will go with Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_16: The first time I heard it, I thought it was the saddest song I'd ever heard.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_16: And he is right.
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_16: That is a super sad song.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_16: But it is a great song.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_13: It is.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_13: Thanks to it.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_16: Of course.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_16: That's a commercial for Maine.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_13: Mainers are winning.
- 1:20:12SPEAKER_16: What are we winning?
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_13: We don't win anything.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_13: We don't win anything.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_16: We live in Maine.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_16: That's not a win.
- 1:20:28SPEAKER_06: She put a mouth.
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_06: Like the burning end of a midnight cigarette.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_06: She broke his heart.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_06: He spent his whole life trying to forget.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_06: We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_06: But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind until the night.
- 1:21:03SPEAKER_06: He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger.
- 1:21:11SPEAKER_06: Finally drank away her memory.
- 1:21:43SPEAKER_06: And when we buried him beneath the willow.
- 1:21:49SPEAKER_06: The angel sang a whiskey lumber.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's that's straight up there.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_12: It's definitely sad something.
- 1:21:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_13: Alright, uh, what is yours?
- 1:21:59SPEAKER_16: Mine is that remember that song for Blatoon?
- 1:22:03SPEAKER_13: Which one?
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_16: The da I'd I uh Adagio for Strings?
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_13: Oh, so you're going like you're good you're going just music in general.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_13: I thought we were talking songs.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_16: That is a song.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_13: Well, it's a c it's a piece of music.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_13: It's I guess it's a song.
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_13: Well, yeah, it's a song, dude.
- 1:22:21SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I suppose that's true.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_13: That is my favorite uh classical piece of music.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_16: I think it's a super sad song.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_13: It's it's my favorite of all time.
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I love it.
- 1:22:29SPEAKER_16: I love that.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_13: Uh Samuel Barber, uh Adagio for Strings.
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_13: I would agree with you, but I thought we were going for songs, like song songs.
- 1:22:38SPEAKER_16: Well, what is it?
- 1:22:38SPEAKER_16: Like with words.
- 1:22:40SPEAKER_16: Why does it have to have words?
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_16: It's still a song.
- 1:22:43SPEAKER_13: This is incredibly sad.
- 1:22:45SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:22:45SPEAKER_13: But moving.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:22:53SPEAKER_16: Yeah, this is a super depressing song to me.
- 1:22:57SPEAKER_13: I mean, I love it.
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_13: Yeah, me too.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_13: But it's super depressing.
- 1:23:00SPEAKER_13: It's but I could listen to it forever.
- 1:23:03SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:23:06SPEAKER_13: Yeah, see if I see if I'd known we could have chosen this, I would have chosen this.
- 1:23:10SPEAKER_16: Well, it's a song, man.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_16: I don't, I don't, you know.
- 1:23:13SPEAKER_16: It just says that's the saddest song in all of history.
- 1:23:18SPEAKER_16: This is a song.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_13: Well, when I think of a song, I think of words.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_13: Well, I think you're stupid.
- 1:23:26SPEAKER_12: Dummy head.
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_13: See, I would I would can I would consider this a uh composition.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_16: Still a song.
- 1:23:44SPEAKER_16: Well.
- 1:23:47SPEAKER_13: I'm not gonna argue with you because I mean it's because you're gonna lose, that's why.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_16: Captain Bathroom Break.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_13: Uh, yes, that is easily my favorite um classical piece of music, Samuel.
- 1:24:04SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I love that song.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_13: Um I had uh a tough time uh with this one because I was going to go Tears in Heaven, as was Cousin Larry.
- 1:24:18SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_13: Because the backstory.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:21SPEAKER_13: So Eric Clapton lost his son, and uh that song, even if you didn't know that Eric Clapton had lost his son, um it's yeah, just the words a lot, right?
- 1:24:30SPEAKER_13: You know, would you hold my hand if I saw you in heaven?
- 1:24:33SPEAKER_13: Yeah, come on.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_13: Um I picked a song that you wouldn't think is a sad song.
- 1:24:41SPEAKER_13: Uh it sounds very like Peppy.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_13: Um, and I know that our our illustrious leader is not going to agree with me on this one.
- 1:24:50SPEAKER_13: Um who's our leader?
- 1:24:51SPEAKER_13: Not our leader.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_13: I thought you were.
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_13: But not our leader, but our uh our what do you call her?
- 1:24:55SPEAKER_13: Judge.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_13: Judge.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_13: She's not gonna agree with me, and that's okay.
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_13: This is Gilbert O'Sullivan.
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_13: Alone again, naturally.
- 1:25:20SPEAKER_05: Climbing to the top.
- 1:25:52SPEAKER_16: That is kind of depressing.
- 1:25:53SPEAKER_16: It is if you didn't you just listen to the words and not the song itself.
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:25:57SPEAKER_05: Cheerful bright and gay.
- 1:25:58SPEAKER_13: Okay, so let me just looking forward.
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_13: Let me just uh read them so we don't have to take up a lot of time.
- 1:26:04SPEAKER_13: I was cheerful, bright, and gay, looking forward to who wouldn't do the role I was about to play.
- 1:26:08SPEAKER_13: But as if to knock me down, reality came around and without so much as a mere touch cut me into little pieces, leaving me to doubt, talk about God and his mercy.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_13: Oh, if he really does exist, why did he desert me?
- 1:26:20SPEAKER_13: In my hour of need, I truly am indeed alone again naturally.
- 1:26:23SPEAKER_13: It seems to me that there are more hearts broken in the world than can't be mended.
- 1:26:28SPEAKER_13: Left unattended, what do we do, what do we do?
- 1:26:30SPEAKER_13: Alone again naturally.
- 1:26:31SPEAKER_13: Looking back over the years and whatever else that appears, I remember I cried when my father died, never wishing to hide the tears.
- 1:26:38SPEAKER_13: And at sixty-five years old, my mother, God rest her soul, couldn't understand why the only man she had ever loved had been taken, leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken.
- 1:26:46SPEAKER_13: Despite encouragement from me, no words were ever.
- 1:26:50SPEAKER_13: And when she passed away, I cried and cried all day, alone again, naturally.
- 1:26:54SPEAKER_13: Uh that's that was uh one of them.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_13: There was another one that No, you only get one.
- 1:27:02SPEAKER_13: No, I know.
- 1:27:02SPEAKER_13: I'm I'm going I'm going with that one.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_13: Um was it was it Claire?
- 1:27:11SPEAKER_13: Um which I think was about his daughter.
- 1:27:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I'm not even gonna go there.
- 1:27:16SPEAKER_13: I get kind of tr um keyboard happy.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_13: But yeah, I'm gonna go with Gilbert O'Sullivan Alone Again.
- 1:27:22SPEAKER_13: Very sad song.
- 1:27:23SPEAKER_13: Uh if you really listen to it.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_13: So that's what I'll go with.
- 1:27:27SPEAKER_13: Very depressing.
- 1:27:28SPEAKER_13: Uh but um Runner Up, uh Tears in Heaven.
- 1:27:34SPEAKER_13: I also like um So If Our Judge is Listening, this isn't my song, but listen to That's My Job by Conway Twitty.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_13: That's my job.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_13: That's my job.
- 1:27:45SPEAKER_13: So your so Cousin Larry's was Um Whiskey Lullaby.
- 1:27:49SPEAKER_13: Whiskey lullaby, Brad Paisley and uh Alison Krause.
- 1:27:52SPEAKER_13: Yours was Adagio for Strings.
- 1:27:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I never can say that, sorry.
- 1:27:56SPEAKER_13: Samuel Barber.
- 1:27:57SPEAKER_16: I always say the the song from Platoon.
- 1:27:59SPEAKER_16: So
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_13: And mine is Gilbert O'Sullivan Alone Again naturally.
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_16: There we go.
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_13: There we go.
- 1:28:05SPEAKER_16: Alright! Future! Future! This will be an interesting one.
- 1:28:10SPEAKER_16: You're sailing around the world and an epic storm approaches.
- 1:28:15SPEAKER_16: What song plays as you wrestle the wind and waves to stay afloat?
- 1:28:21SPEAKER_13: Beethoven's fifth.
- 1:28:23SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:28:23SPEAKER_15: That's not a song.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_15: That's a composition.
- 1:28:31SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:28:32SPEAKER_13: Good.
- 1:28:32SPEAKER_13: Alright, so there is mixtape for this week.

- 1:30:05SPEAKER_13: Let's uh let's start.
- 1:30:05SPEAKER_13: It's not a wall, it's a house.
- 1:30:07SPEAKER_13: Let's start that now.
- 1:30:10SPEAKER_15: The music, I should say.
- 1:30:11SPEAKER_15: It's not a song.
- 1:30:13SPEAKER_13: The composition.
- 1:30:16SPEAKER_15: It's a piece of music.
- 1:30:20SPEAKER_13: Shut up.
- 1:30:23SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:30:24SPEAKER_13: And while I climb the wall of tunes, I'm gonna take off my headphones.
- 1:30:28SPEAKER_13: House of tunes.
- 1:30:29SPEAKER_13: Doug's gonna read to you.
- 1:30:32SPEAKER_13: He's got a book, it's a pamphlet.
- 1:30:33SPEAKER_13: He learned just a little while ago how to read.
- 1:30:35SPEAKER_13: I'm still learning.
- 1:30:36SPEAKER_13: Show us what you can do.
- 1:30:38SPEAKER_16: Hooked on phonics work for me.
- 1:30:41SPEAKER_16: Alright.
- 1:30:43SPEAKER_16: This week's Beatles song is Eight Days a Week.
- 1:30:46SPEAKER_16: That's not a real title.
- 1:30:48SPEAKER_16: Because it's not really Eight Days a Week.
- 1:30:51SPEAKER_16: John always claimed that Eight Days a Week was written by Paul as a potential title track for the Beatles follow-up film to A Hard Days Night.
- 1:31:00SPEAKER_16: Director Dick Lester denied this, pointing out that Eight Days a Week was recorded in October 1964, whereas filming on Help did not begin until late February 1965.
- 1:31:13SPEAKER_16: It's unlikely that they were considering film music this far in advance.
- 1:31:17SPEAKER_16: The film was always supposed to be called Help, but there was a copyright problem in that someone else had registered this title, says Lester.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_16: So we originally called it Beatles 2 and then Eight Arms to Hold You, but thinking of a song called Eight Arms to Hold You had everyone throwing their hands in the air and saying that it was impossible.
- 1:31:38SPEAKER_16: It was because that of this that we thought sought it.
- 1:31:42SPEAKER_16: We'll take the chance because the laws of registration were so vague.
- 1:31:46SPEAKER_16: We decided to stick in an exclamation point market because the one that was registered didn't have one.
- 1:31:52SPEAKER_16: Okay, that's interesting.
- 1:31:53SPEAKER_16: I didn't know that.
- 1:31:55SPEAKER_16: Paul first heard eight days a week from a substitute chauffeur who drove him to John's home in Weybridge one day for a writing session.
- 1:32:03SPEAKER_16: Asked by Paul if he had been busy lately, the chauffeur replied, Busy, I've been working eight days a week.
- 1:32:09SPEAKER_16: When they arrived, Paul went straight in and told John that he had the title for the song that they were going to write.
- 1:32:14SPEAKER_16: Eight Days a Week, the first track to be recorded with a faded intro rather than a faded outro, was under consideration as a UK single until John came up with I Feel Fine.
- 1:32:26SPEAKER_16: In America, it was released as the follow-up to I Feel Fine and made the number one spot.
- 1:32:31SPEAKER_16: Well, there you go.
- 1:32:32SPEAKER_16: So there you go.
- 1:32:34SPEAKER_13: Great song.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_13: Again, my favorite era of the Beatles, I think.
- 1:32:48SPEAKER_05: Love me.
- 1:32:55SPEAKER_16: Nobody does hand claps anymore in the no, right?
- 1:32:58SPEAKER_03: That's bad.
- 1:33:00SPEAKER_13: Alright, eight days a week.
- 1:33:02SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:33:02SPEAKER_13: Um, so I have an album.
- 1:33:06SPEAKER_13: I would Don't you mean it's a record?
- 1:33:09SPEAKER_13: Uh C D, actually.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_13: Um I would have you guess who it is, but you will never get it.
- 1:33:16SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 1:33:17SPEAKER_13: Because you don't know who this artist is.
- 1:33:19SPEAKER_16: Let's not let's not waste time.
- 1:33:21SPEAKER_13: So should I just tell you who it is?
- 1:33:25SPEAKER_13: Okay, so this is a singer-songwriter.
- 1:33:27SPEAKER_13: I believe.
- 1:33:28SPEAKER_13: Actually, let me uh pull up his uh dial here.
- 1:33:32SPEAKER_13: It's a guy.
- 1:33:33SPEAKER_13: It is a guy.
- 1:33:34SPEAKER_13: He's a goal.
- 1:33:34SPEAKER_13: Wow, good guess.
- 1:33:36SPEAKER_15: I'm so good.
- 1:33:38SPEAKER_15: Um Steven Segal!
- 1:33:48SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I never would have gotten that guy.
- 1:33:49SPEAKER_13: You never would have gotten that name right now.
- 1:33:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:33:52SPEAKER_13: Um I'm trying to see where he's from.
- 1:33:54SPEAKER_13: I think he's from the Midwest.
- 1:33:57SPEAKER_13: Um yes, he's from the Midwest.
- 1:34:00SPEAKER_13: Um But he's a kind of a folk singer songwriter.
- 1:34:04SPEAKER_13: We spent a lot of time in Ireland.
- 1:34:05SPEAKER_13: His name is Peter Mulvey.
- 1:34:07SPEAKER_13: And the album that I have chosen is called Kitchen Radio.
- 1:34:13SPEAKER_13: And I bought the album for one song.
- 1:34:16SPEAKER_13: I don't usually do that.
- 1:34:18SPEAKER_13: Uh, but I heard a song.
- 1:34:19SPEAKER_13: There's a s there's a show I used to listen to on public radio called uh In Tune by Ten.
- 1:34:24SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 1:34:25SPEAKER_13: M PR.
- 1:34:25SPEAKER_13: MPR, yeah, which is Sarah Willis, which is like contemporary singer-songwriter stuff.
- 1:34:30SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:34:30SPEAKER_13: You know, they would uh I think it used to be on the weekends and then it was at night at like ten o'clock at night, and it was like an hour of contemporary folk artists, that type that type of thing.
- 1:34:41SPEAKER_13: And I was listening to it and I heard this song, and I was like, wow, that's a really great song.
- 1:34:45SPEAKER_13: And so I looked him up and I found this um I almost won't say I found it at a loose this was a long, long time ago.
- 1:34:51SPEAKER_13: Because this came out in 2004.
- 1:34:54SPEAKER_13: Um 20 years old, man.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_13: But have we done this?
- 1:34:58SPEAKER_13: No.
- 1:34:58SPEAKER_16: I am positive we've never done this guy.
- 1:35:01SPEAKER_13: Okay, because there's a song in here called Twenty Nine Cent Head.
- 1:35:03SPEAKER_13: Uh and it's about politicians.
- 1:35:07SPEAKER_13: Um I could have sworn we talked about it.
- 1:35:10SPEAKER_16: I don't think so.
- 1:35:11SPEAKER_16: But we might have talked about that song, but that might have been not on the podcast.
- 1:35:16SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:35:18SPEAKER_16: I guarantee he's not on this.
- 1:35:24SPEAKER_13: Well, I'm gonna play you uh the song shirt.
- 1:35:27SPEAKER_13: Because this is this is the song that made me want to find the album and find out who this is.
- 1:35:31SPEAKER_13: Uh and it let me just read you some of the lyrics.
- 1:35:35SPEAKER_16: I know I've talked about this.
- 1:35:37SPEAKER_16: I know I have.
- 1:35:38SPEAKER_16: Oh, it might have been a different conversation, but I don't think we've ever talked about it on here.
- 1:35:45SPEAKER_13: On on on Wall of Tunes, you mean or on the podcast period.
- 1:35:49SPEAKER_13: Oh, I'm pretty sure we have.
- 1:35:50SPEAKER_16: Have we?
- 1:35:50SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:35:51SPEAKER_16: Oh no, we have done him! We have.
- 1:35:54SPEAKER_16: We have surprise, surprise, surprise.
- 1:35:58SPEAKER_16: So should I pick a different one?
- 1:35:59SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:36:00SPEAKER_16: Go with it, man.
- 1:36:00SPEAKER_16: Because I don't I didn't I don't remember talking about him.
- 1:36:02SPEAKER_13: So you know, like I said, I used to, I used to uh every one that we've done, I used to put it off in a separate pile.
- 1:36:11SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:36:11SPEAKER_13: But then it was just another pile.
- 1:36:14SPEAKER_13: So I mean piles.
- 1:36:16SPEAKER_13: So I mixed them all in again and mixed them up so I wouldn't grab the same one, but obviously I've been grabbing the same ones, and we have we're fifty plus years old, we don't remember anything.
- 1:36:25SPEAKER_13: So this is Who were you again?
- 1:36:27SPEAKER_13: To me, it's a great song.
- 1:36:28SPEAKER_13: Light a fire, burn up all you know.
- 1:36:30SPEAKER_13: You've had so much time just to let things go.
- 1:36:32SPEAKER_13: Now you're burning letters out in the snow in your backyard.
- 1:36:35SPEAKER_13: Here's the chorus.
- 1:36:36SPEAKER_13: And it's the same old friends on New Year's Eve, the same old snowfalls on the same old leaves, and there's the same old joy, the same old hurt, same old corduroy shirt.
- 1:36:45SPEAKER_13: I love this song.
- 1:37:05SPEAKER_07: Light a fire burn up.
- 1:37:08SPEAKER_07: Oh, you know you have so much time just to let things go now.
- 1:37:14SPEAKER_07: You're burning letters out and the snow in your backyard Years go bowling, your third is free.
- 1:37:28SPEAKER_07: It's time for the cross or the boat it's a bit but you'd like to cry when you scan your name at its heart's the same old friends on new years, you the same snow falls on the same old leaves, and there's the same old joy, the same old hurt, the same old card of shirt.
- 1:38:03SPEAKER_13: Just a groove, man, and just kind of great story and a great message.
- 1:38:07SPEAKER_13: And uh and then you have this one, and I know I've played it before.
- 1:38:10SPEAKER_13: It's it's uh um about politicians.
- 1:38:15SPEAKER_13: Do you remember hearing this at all?
- 1:38:19SPEAKER_16: I do not, sir.
- 1:38:22SPEAKER_07: A billion blue tubes light up a billion rooms.
- 1:38:27SPEAKER_07: The light outside is as quiet as a tomb.
- 1:38:32SPEAKER_07: The fools almost green try to get each other in the bed.
- 1:38:37SPEAKER_07: It's a$40 haircut on a 29-cent head, and you just don't get it.
- 1:38:45SPEAKER_07: Now you just don't get it, you just don't get it.
- 1:38:49SPEAKER_07: Can't you get something else instead?
- 1:38:56SPEAKER_07: Them shapes in the bed, are the senator and the CEO Which one is on top?
- 1:39:04SPEAKER_07: Wouldn't he like to know?
- 1:39:07SPEAKER_07: I just got his hand on the outside.
- 1:39:12SPEAKER_07: The whole class preaching to you, they just want you to agree, but you just don't get it.
- 1:39:19SPEAKER_07: Now you just don't get it.
- 1:39:22SPEAKER_07: You just don't get it, but you know this don't come free.
- 1:39:27SPEAKER_13: Uh just this one.
- 1:39:28SPEAKER_13: Every election feels like the perfect crime.
- 1:39:31SPEAKER_13: Like you can fool all the people all the time.
- 1:39:33SPEAKER_13: They say the water isn't rising, but their shoes are soaking wet.
- 1:39:37SPEAKER_13: They like to drive you crazy, but you ain't crazy yet, you just don't get it.

- 1:39:52SPEAKER_13: Um a lot of it is poetry.
- 1:39:57SPEAKER_13: It doesn't ri make a lot of sense.
- 1:40:00SPEAKER_13: Um but I like it.
- 1:40:05SPEAKER_13: I don't know why I picked it, cause I I guess because it's stood out.
- 1:40:09SPEAKER_13: Blue with the sky.
- 1:40:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's fancy.
- 1:40:13SPEAKER_13: Fancy uh CD case.
- 1:40:17SPEAKER_16: Well, fancy picture, not necessarily cases.
- 1:40:19SPEAKER_16: It's one of those paper cases.
- 1:40:21SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's one of those paper cases, but it's like the edge of it is like a blue sky.
- 1:40:26SPEAKER_16: It's like a sunny, it's like a sunny day.
- 1:40:27SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:40:28SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:40:31SPEAKER_13: Uh anyway, Peter Mulvey is his name.
- 1:40:34SPEAKER_13: And he does have I I used to have a uh uh instrumental album that he did, just guitar, because he plays a lot of cool, intricate guitar work.
- 1:40:42SPEAKER_13: Um I think I I think it was one of those ones that I got rid of.
- 1:40:47SPEAKER_16: That's sad.
- 1:40:48SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it is sad.
- 1:40:49SPEAKER_16: That's sad.
- 1:40:50SPEAKER_13: But uh I like Peter Mulvey a lot.

- 1:42:11SPEAKER_16: He looked at the other servicemen standing around and said in a low, growling voice, I never told any of you all that.
