- 0:00Speaker 1: Out of the gates on Sport and State. Good morning
- 0:02Speaker 1: to you. Glad you're with us for Hutton and Withrow
- 0:04Speaker 1: on this Wednesday edition. He's Chad Withrow. I'm Jonathan Hutton.
- 0:07Speaker 2: We are presented by Hard Rock Bet, streaming across the platforms,
- 0:11Speaker 2: especially at sportandstate.com.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Chad, good morning to you, man. Good morning, Hut. Good
- 0:15Speaker 1: to be with you on this Wednesday.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Man, the bases were loaded last night in Atlanta, fifth inning,
- 0:21Speaker 2: and only got a run. And I thought, man, this
- 0:23Speaker 2: was the Bravo's moment.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This is the Bravo. What a crowd, though, in Atlanta.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I was thinking about you.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I was thinking about myself too, wishing I was there.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Too much going on this week to go down. Wanted
- 0:35Speaker 3: to take the eldest daughter down to a game. She's
- 0:37Speaker 3: been wanting to go to a playoff game badly. Not
- 0:40Speaker 3: going to make it down there. There will be a
- 0:41Speaker 3: game four, so the Braves will get the full max
- 0:44Speaker 3: capacity of games they could get in this series tonight
- 0:48Speaker 3: to try to send it to a game five. But
- 0:50Speaker 3: I tell you what, Ronald Acuna Jr., he's up, runners on,
- 0:54Speaker 3: second and third, down three to one in that fifth
- 0:56Speaker 3: inning you're talking about, Hutt. And I'm thinking, here's his
- 0:59Speaker 3: chance to leave his legacy. Big hit right here to
- 1:02Speaker 3: tie it up. If the Braves could somehow come back,
- 1:04Speaker 3: win this game against Yamamoto. Yamamoto, who was dealing in
- 1:08Speaker 3: that game, by the way.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Credit to him. He's incredible.
- 1:11Speaker 3: And it's just one stud pitcher after the next. The
- 1:14Speaker 3: Dodgers continue to trot out there against anyone they're going
- 1:17Speaker 3: to face in the playoffs. But that was his moment
- 1:20Speaker 3: to come through. And instead, you've got that stat right there.
- 1:23Speaker 3: His playoff legacy being what it is right now, which
- 1:26Speaker 3: is one big home run. against the Dodgers eight years
- 1:29Speaker 3: ago in a series they ultimately lost in that NLDS.
- 1:33Speaker 3: So I'm Ronald Acuna Jr. not good in the playoffs. Also,
- 1:38Speaker 3: I keep going back to this, and I like Ronald
- 1:40Speaker 3: Acuna Jr. I love the guy as a player. I
- 1:42Speaker 3: love his spirit, all those things. Great regular season guy.
- 1:46Speaker 3: When did the Braves win their World Series?
- 1:48Speaker 1: When he was hurt. When he was hurt.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I've talked to a former Braves player. Who asked that question.
- 1:57Speaker 3: They said, by the way, when did they win it again?
- 2:00Speaker 1: 2021?
- 2:01Speaker 3: And that's when they brought in a collection of guys.
- 2:04Speaker 1: A number of guys. Being one of them.
- 2:08Speaker 3: They had some guys that came in that really delivered
- 2:11Speaker 3: in October that year. And that was the time they
- 2:15Speaker 3: won the World Series. And it wasn't with their stud
- 2:18Speaker 3: player and Ronald Acuna Jr. The Braves got him at
- 2:21Speaker 3: a discount when they signed him. Ozzie Albee is the
- 2:23Speaker 3: same way. They're making a lot of money. But for
- 2:25Speaker 3: what they could have been worth on the open market,
- 2:27Speaker 3: they sort of got the hometown discount when they signed
- 2:30Speaker 3: those guys. But Ronald Acuna Jr. not coming through in
- 2:34Speaker 3: the postseason. Shohei Otani not doing anything either.
- 2:36Speaker 1: No, he's not.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I mean, he's moved down to fifth in the Dodgers
- 2:39Speaker 3: batting order. So it's not just Acuna. But I'd love
- 2:43Speaker 3: to see that guy get it going for one October
- 2:46Speaker 3: in his time playing for the Atlanta Braves. If they're
- 2:47Speaker 3: going to keep getting to the playoffs, I'd love to
- 2:49Speaker 3: see him do something. But it feels like it's too
- 2:52Speaker 3: late at this point with him not doing anything.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So far this postseason.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Speaking of the month of October and baseball, there's a
- 3:00Speaker 2: topic I want to get to later in the week
- 3:01Speaker 2: with you about just how baseball takes over the moments
- 3:05Speaker 2: in the middle of the week for me where I
- 3:07Speaker 2: don't really pay much attention to it at all in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the month of September. I want more of that, you know,
- 3:12Speaker 2: throughout the season. than just the gripping moments that we
- 3:15Speaker 2: have in October. That's down the line. One of those
- 3:18Speaker 2: was last night in the fifth inning, for instance, where
- 3:20Speaker 2: I'm making sure I'm watching that at bat. Chad, I'll
- 3:23Speaker 2: be making sure to watch the start that George McIntyre
- 3:26Speaker 2: is about to make for the Tennessee Volunteers on the road.
- 3:29Speaker 2: First true road start for him and the Vols as
- 3:32Speaker 2: they head to Arkansas prior to the meeting against Alabama.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 3:36Speaker 2: We've got the backup quarterback on the road who came
- 3:39Speaker 2: in and did some nice work in the previous game
- 3:43Speaker 2: for the injured Faison Brandon, and now we see Josh
- 3:47Speaker 2: Heupel and the work he can do with his backup
- 3:50Speaker 2: on the road to the SEC, which is never easy,
- 3:52Speaker 2: but I like the spot that they're in considering the situation.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah, they're better than Arkansas. I mean, I said the
- 3:58Speaker 3: same thing against Auburn, and they ended up winning, but
- 4:01Speaker 3: I think Auburn's quite a bit better than Arkansas. Yes,
- 4:04Speaker 3: it's on the road, which makes it a little bit trickier.
- 4:06Speaker 3: But George McIntyre, the guy. Hey, good news for Josh Heupel.
- 4:10Speaker 3: He doesn't have to talk about quarterback anymore because Pete
- 4:13Speaker 3: Nacos and Chris Lowe and Austin Price and others are
- 4:16Speaker 3: reporting that George McIntyre is getting the first team reps
- 4:19Speaker 3: and he will be the starter. There's also some question
- 4:22Speaker 3: about today's SEC availability report. Will Faison Brandon be on
- 4:26Speaker 3: that report with the shoulder injuries? that they were hiding
- 4:29Speaker 3: a week ago that he may not be able to
- 4:32Speaker 3: go in a backup capacity on Saturday. This may be
- 4:36Speaker 3: a rest him up, let the shoulder heal. He may
- 4:39Speaker 3: be in street clothes on Saturday in this game also,
- 4:42Speaker 3: which would mean Ryan Staub, the transfer from Colorado who
- 4:44Speaker 3: was a starter for multiple games a year ago, could
- 4:47Speaker 3: be the backup in this game in Fayetteville.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It's the right.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Decision for Tennessee at this point. I still believe that
- 4:54Speaker 3: Faison Brandon Hutton is the future. at quarterback for this
- 4:58Speaker 3: program right now. I still have belief in him based
- 5:01Speaker 3: on what I saw in those early games this season.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I think this is going to be a momentary detour
- 5:07Speaker 3: for him. He'll eventually be the starter again, but George
- 5:11Speaker 3: McIntyre's got a chance to prove me wrong. Look, he's
- 5:15Speaker 3: got an opportunity here not just to go on the road,
- 5:18Speaker 3: but he comes back and starts and plays well against Alabama.
- 5:21Speaker 1: He's the guy.
- 5:22Speaker 3: He's the guy for the foreseeable future right now until
- 5:24Speaker 3: either he plays as poorly as Faison Brandon did or
- 5:27Speaker 3: he's hurt, but he's got a chance to prove me wrong.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Someone responded to me when I said that I still
- 5:33Speaker 3: think Faison Brandon's the future saying, did you say that
- 5:36Speaker 3: when Hendon Hooker replaced Joe Milton at that time that
- 5:39Speaker 3: you still thought Joe Milton was the future or was
- 5:41Speaker 3: it Hendon Hooker? Look, I thought Hendon Hooker was the
- 5:44Speaker 3: present when he came in and started playing well, and
- 5:47Speaker 3: he was throughout the end of 2021 and in 2022.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But technically, Joe Milton was still the future because he
- 5:54Speaker 3: had another year of eligibility, and he came back in
- 5:57Speaker 3: 2023 to be the starter. Faison Brandon is younger still
- 6:01Speaker 3: than George McIntyre. He's got one less year in the
- 6:04Speaker 3: program than he does. I still believe he could be
- 6:07Speaker 3: the future regardless of what happens with George McIntyre. Now,
- 6:10Speaker 3: if McIntyre goes out and lights it up, the remainder
- 6:13Speaker 3: of this season? Is Faison Brandon likely to stay in
- 6:16Speaker 3: Knoxville knowing he's going to be a backup a year
- 6:18Speaker 3: from now? Probably not in the way college football works.
- 6:22Speaker 3: That was even exceptional then when Joe Milton stayed to
- 6:24Speaker 3: be the backup for a year and didn't try to
- 6:26Speaker 3: bounce and transfer somewhere else to be the starter. So
- 6:29Speaker 3: there's a lot of different things that go into these decisions.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I do credit Josh Heupel, though, for making the decision
- 6:36Speaker 3: that was best for his football team in that moment.
- 6:38Speaker 3: And it paid off and they were able to get
- 6:39Speaker 3: something done offensively where they could win that game against Auburn.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Now you've got to go prove it on the road
- 6:43Speaker 3: against Arkansas.
- 6:44Speaker 2: So either way, this is a huge moment in the
- 6:48Speaker 2: season right now because McIntyre's making the road start. If
- 6:51Speaker 2: he plays well, you stick with him. If he doesn't,
- 6:56Speaker 2: you've got an injured quarterback in Faison Brandon. Bama's coming up.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And you wonder what the shoulder's like going back to him.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Are you sticking with McIntyre? All of these different scenarios
- 7:08Speaker 2: where Faison Brandon would be coming back after a poor performance.
- 7:12Speaker 2: How quick is the hook on the second go-around with
- 7:15Speaker 2: a backup that didn't play well on the road against Arkansas?
- 7:18Speaker 2: There's a lot of different factors here, Chad, that make
- 7:21Speaker 2: this fascinating. But in the past, going back to your
- 7:24Speaker 2: hidden hooker reference, Heifel's gotten this right.
- 7:28Speaker 3: He's gotten it right in the past. And also, keep
- 7:30Speaker 3: in mind where this falls on the schedule. It's not
- 7:33Speaker 3: just before Alabama. You're sandwiching Alabama and you're sandwiching around that.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Two road trips.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Right. I think the South Carolina one should be much
- 7:42Speaker 3: more tricky in terms of their talent level. Now we'll
- 7:45Speaker 3: see what they're looking like at that point. Are they
- 7:48Speaker 3: playing for an interim coach? Is Shane Beamer playing out
- 7:51Speaker 3: the strings, still trying to get his team together? Are
- 7:54Speaker 3: they playing better at that point? We'll find out a
- 7:56Speaker 3: lot when they go to the Swamp this weekend. But
- 7:59Speaker 3: this is just like the Auburn game last week. This
- 8:02Speaker 3: is batting down the hatches, find a way to win it,
- 8:06Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be pretty, but you've got to
- 8:07Speaker 3: get out of Fayetteville with a win, get yourself to 5-1.
- 8:10Speaker 3: You're going to be a borderline top-10 team at that point,
- 8:13Speaker 3: and you're going to be hosting what looks to be
- 8:16Speaker 3: the best offense in the SEC right now than Alabama.
- 8:19Speaker 3: And guess what? You've got a defense. This is not
- 8:23Speaker 3: carrying a knife to a gunfight. You're carrying a gun
- 8:25Speaker 3: to a gunfight because Alabama's got the guns, and you've
- 8:29Speaker 3: got the guns on defense. So you have the ability
- 8:32Speaker 3: to slow them down with that defense. I think Tennessee's
- 8:34Speaker 3: got a defense, Hunt. that will give them a chance
- 8:37Speaker 3: in every single game in the SEC. Can the offense
- 8:40Speaker 3: do enough passing the ball? They've got two playmakers on
- 8:43Speaker 3: the outside. Find a way to get them the ball
- 8:45Speaker 3: in space. Find a way to do something with the
- 8:47Speaker 3: throw game. And if you do that, you've got the
- 8:50Speaker 3: ability to run it. We've seen that already. Against a
- 8:52Speaker 3: good Auburn defense, Deshaun Bishop had 220 yards rushing.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:56Speaker 3: This is a running attack that can get going as
- 8:59Speaker 3: the season continues to churn through October and as that
- 9:03Speaker 3: offensive line gets going a little bit more. But you've
- 9:05Speaker 3: got to be able to throw it. They have to
- 9:07Speaker 3: at least respect the pass. And that's what you saw
- 9:09Speaker 3: in that game. That's why it was smart for Heupel
- 9:11Speaker 3: to go to George McIntyre. Auburn had ceased to respect
- 9:14Speaker 3: the pass, even as an option. And they were selling out.
- 9:17Speaker 3: And the moment McIntyre got in there, completed a couple
- 9:20Speaker 3: third down passes, and had that 42-yard gain, they had
- 9:23Speaker 3: to change their approach a little bit. And that change
- 9:25Speaker 3: in approach led to Deshaun Bishop going off in the
- 9:28Speaker 3: second half.
- 9:29Speaker 2: The question would be, in the game where, and again,
- 9:32Speaker 2: he came in later in the game, but in the
- 9:34Speaker 2: game where he's only attempting 10 passes, what does he
- 9:38Speaker 2: look like when he attempts 18 to 19 to 20.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Passes in this game?
- 9:42Speaker 2: If Bishop is not running for 220, but he's running
- 9:45Speaker 2: for 160, what does McIntyre bring to the fold? What
- 9:50Speaker 2: consistency is there? That's really the key is the third
- 9:54Speaker 2: down passing. Can he move the sticks on the third
- 9:56Speaker 2: and sixth if he needs to to keep things going?
- 9:59Speaker 2: Or does he put things in harm's way? You know,
- 10:01Speaker 2: the turnovers, that's one thing. But just keeping you out
- 10:04Speaker 2: of a, not making the big play, keeping you out
- 10:06Speaker 2: of a bad play.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Not pressing. That's the key to me in all this.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And I think one big thing that needs to happen
- 10:12Speaker 3: in this game that would give a lot of confidence
- 10:14Speaker 3: to the Tennessee fan base, complete one deep ball down
- 10:17Speaker 3: the field.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Hit somebody in stride, have a big play in the
- 10:21Speaker 3: passing game that is a go route to either Staley
- 10:25Speaker 3: or Mike Matthews or Radarius Jackson or whoever's out there
- 10:28Speaker 3: to show that ability to complete that pass. That is
- 10:31Speaker 3: always such a big part of this Josh Heupel offense.
- 10:34Speaker 3: If you can complete those, it's something Joey Aguilar was
- 10:36Speaker 3: really good at, and it's why the offense popped a
- 10:39Speaker 3: year ago at times. If George McIntyre can show that ability, Hut,
- 10:43Speaker 3: that's going to be huge. for this Tennessee offense. You've
- 10:46Speaker 3: got to show it. You've got to put it on film.
- 10:48Speaker 3: You've got to lay it out there for your star receivers.
- 10:50Speaker 3: They've got to go get it. If they can get
- 10:52Speaker 3: one or two of those in this game against Arkansas,
- 10:55Speaker 3: I think that really changes the way teams are going
- 10:58Speaker 3: to try to defend Tennessee and could open some things up.
- 11:01Speaker 3: They don't have to be great on offense, but they've
- 11:04Speaker 3: got to be better than they were against Texas. They've
- 11:06Speaker 3: got to be better than they were against Auburn. Second
- 11:08Speaker 3: half against Auburn was fine. that they were able to
- 11:11Speaker 3: suffocate the life out of that game on the ground.
- 11:13Speaker 3: It's not always going to be that way in the SEC.
- 11:16Speaker 3: You're going to have to make some plays. You're going
- 11:18Speaker 3: to have to throw the ball into some tight windows.
- 11:20Speaker 3: We said this about Faison Brandon. He's unwilling to do it.
- 11:23Speaker 3: And then the moment that he gets a simple option
- 11:26Speaker 3: play where he's got the option of running it or
- 11:29Speaker 3: throwing it to a guy, he waits and waits and
- 11:32Speaker 3: waits and throws the interception and gets pulled from the game.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And that was it.
- 11:35Speaker 3: For Josh Heupel at that point. George McIntyre threw Mike
- 11:39Speaker 3: Matthews open. He threw it right out of safety, and
- 11:42Speaker 3: knowing that his guy was going to undercut the safety
- 11:45Speaker 3: and be off to the races, they've got to have
- 11:47Speaker 3: more of that. There's got to be a little bit
- 11:49Speaker 3: of risk-taking to this. I'm not saying design a game
- 11:52Speaker 3: plan where you're throwing it into double coverage throughout the game,
- 11:56Speaker 3: but you've got to take some risks in this game,
- 12:00Speaker 3: and maybe George McIntyre's the guy who can do that
- 12:02Speaker 3: for Tennessee.
- 12:02Speaker 1: This may give the receivers a little boost.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You know, like just knowing that they've got the quarterback
- 12:07Speaker 2: that's going to do that, you know, like just going
- 12:10Speaker 2: into the game where there's not going to be the
- 12:12Speaker 2: hesitancy where you're going to have to get the head
- 12:13Speaker 2: around and look for the football. That's I mean, there's
- 12:16Speaker 2: just a mentality there and a reality of practice that
- 12:19Speaker 2: you would know that from camp. Also, Chad, like, look,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I mean, this could be a result, could be a
- 12:25Speaker 2: result that is a trampoline-type game for them, especially a
- 12:28Speaker 2: nice boost of confidence going into a game against a
- 12:32Speaker 2: Bama defense that you know will show up and play well.
- 12:36Speaker 2: That's really what you need, offensive confidence to match what
- 12:38Speaker 2: the defense is going to bring.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I saw the guy from Tyson Foods was asked about,
- 12:43Speaker 3: on the Arkansas side of this, was asked about why
- 12:46Speaker 3: can't Arkansas be like Cody Campbell in Texas Tech?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 3: And he said, well, they have oil, we have chickens
- 12:54Speaker 3: is the difference, which was a great response in terms
- 12:57Speaker 3: of the money. Look, I don't know where Arkansas's crowd
- 13:00Speaker 3: is going to be in this. Tennessee's had a hard
- 13:01Speaker 3: time in Fayetteville. They tried to boycott the game against Georgia,
- 13:05Speaker 3: and it looked like they were pretty successful.
- 13:07Speaker 1: The fan base.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I mean, are they going to rise and have a
- 13:09Speaker 3: big-time atmosphere at 315 on wherever this game's being played,
- 13:14Speaker 3: SEC Network, I guess, or ESPN2 or wherever it is
- 13:18Speaker 3: this week?
- 13:18Speaker 1: I just– In a word, no.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I don't know that the atmosphere is going to be
- 13:23Speaker 3: like you would normally expect for an SEC road trip
- 13:26Speaker 3: for Tennessee at Arkansas this week.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So I don't think that's a factor.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I think Georgia Tech was probably more rowdy, even with
- 13:32Speaker 3: all the Tennessee fans in the building, than what Tennessee
- 13:34Speaker 3: is going to see this weekend against Arkansas.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Speaking of road trips, where's the road trip going to
- 13:39Speaker 1: be for Georgia? Georgia and Bama.
- 13:42Speaker 2: We discussed that coming up, plus much more straight ahead
- 13:45Speaker 2: here on Nothing to Withdraw.

- 15:06Speaker 2: Where's this hurricane going, this tropical storm affecting some games,
- 15:11Speaker 2: especially Georgia, Alabama, affecting, Chad, where you may be going?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm headed to the Gulf this weekend, but that
- 15:18Speaker 3: trip may be delayed with Hurricane Isaias. I'm trying to
- 15:24Speaker 3: get the pronunciation right. This is one where even the
- 15:26Speaker 3: pronunciation guide that they show, the name of it, it
- 15:28Speaker 3: looks like Isaiah's, like a plural of Isaiah is what
- 15:32Speaker 3: the name is. But it's like pronounced Esaias, I think
- 15:36Speaker 3: is the pronunciation of this hurricane and what it's being titled.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I would say Esaias. Okay, that sounds better.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I would.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Esaias. Esaias. Let's go with that. I don't know if
- 15:47Speaker 1: that's the way to go. Probably wrong. That sounds okay. Okay.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Um alabama georgia is going to be threatened my trip
- 15:54Speaker 3: for a fall break will be threatened along with many
- 15:56Speaker 3: other people that are headed down towards the gulf um
- 15:59Speaker 3: listen this is a no joke and every hurricane that
- 16:02Speaker 3: has the the letter i that begins with that they've
- 16:06Speaker 3: showed a study of the ones that have been labeled
- 16:08Speaker 3: i have been bigger and worse than people thought when
- 16:11Speaker 3: it came through so how does that affect our sports
- 16:15Speaker 3: weekend us being a sports show talking a lot about
- 16:17Speaker 3: the sec well Georgia at Alabama may not be played
- 16:21Speaker 3: on Saturday in Tuscaloosa because right now it looks like
- 16:24Speaker 3: an absolute mess. Alabama has released a statement, in fact,
- 16:28Speaker 3: talking about their monitoring the situation forecast ahead of Saturday's game.
- 16:32Speaker 3: There are no plans to alter the contest. We'll continue
- 16:34Speaker 3: to observe conditions throughout the week and remain in communication
- 16:37Speaker 3: with the Southeastern Conference office as needed. Fans are encouraged
- 16:40Speaker 3: to rely on official Alabama athletics and SEC channels for
- 16:44Speaker 3: the latest info. Will they move it to Sunday? Will
- 16:47Speaker 3: they move this thing to Atlanta? and play it indoors
- 16:50Speaker 3: at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, sort of wedged there in between Tuscaloosa
- 16:54Speaker 3: and Athens, way closer to Georgia. Boy, that's not a
- 16:57Speaker 3: great thing for Alabama, who was hoping to have a
- 16:59Speaker 3: big home game and home atmosphere. ESPN College Game Day
- 17:03Speaker 3: is supposed to be in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The president
- 17:07Speaker 3: is supposed to be at the game. I can't tell
- 17:10Speaker 3: the president what to do. Maybe change plans? I don't
- 17:14Speaker 3: know that this is the time to be at a
- 17:16Speaker 3: football game right now with a hurricane hitting the Gulf Coast.
- 17:19Speaker 3: If they play this thing on Saturday with everything else
- 17:21Speaker 3: going in with the weather and all of that, just
- 17:24Speaker 3: an idea. Maybe pick another game or go to one
- 17:27Speaker 3: later in the year, but we'll see if that actually
- 17:29Speaker 3: happens too. Point being, there's a lot of factors heading
- 17:32Speaker 3: into this of different things. And if the president's there
- 17:36Speaker 3: and college game day is there and the weather's there
- 17:38Speaker 3: at the same time, I don't see any way they're
- 17:41Speaker 3: playing this thing as scheduled.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Saturday night.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I think this is more of a push it to
- 17:46Speaker 3: Sunday and then you're on up against the NFL or
- 17:50Speaker 3: it's going to get moved to a different venue.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So if you push it to the Dome in Atlanta,
- 17:55Speaker 2: that's really been their home away from home. They have
- 17:58Speaker 2: met in postseason a lot over the last 14 years.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Georgia has played Alabama 15 times since 2000. Four of
- 18:08Speaker 2: those games have been in Athens and they've played in
- 18:11Speaker 2: Atlanta six times.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Since then.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Atlanta six times, Athens four times, Tuscaloosa four times, and
- 18:18Speaker 2: Indianapolis one time. If you play it in Atlanta, if
- 18:23Speaker 2: you move it, you're playing Saturday. Chad, you made the mention,
- 18:26Speaker 2: we pointed this out while we were at Ole Miss,
- 18:29Speaker 2: the number of people and staff that it takes to
- 18:32Speaker 2: put on these types of games on the road, the
- 18:36Speaker 2: number of people and just different categories of of staff members,
- 18:42Speaker 2: like before and after the game, game day be there.
- 18:45Speaker 2: There are a lot of moving parts that make me think, like,
- 18:47Speaker 2: we'll have a decision today on where this is going
- 18:50Speaker 2: because everybody logistically has got to know where to go,
- 18:53Speaker 2: where to be, what time, and what's going on, where's travel,
- 18:57Speaker 2: all of it. Both teams would need to know.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So, yes.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I mean, it's an army of people. You mentioned that
- 19:04Speaker 3: about being in Oxford and seeing that, but the next
- 19:06Speaker 3: week being in Knoxville, I'm walking around like, there's someone
- 19:09Speaker 3: for everybody. Everyone here has an escort walking them around.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Everyone here has someone in an official Tennessee polo and
- 19:16Speaker 3: a lanyard and a name badge that's doing something around
- 19:20Speaker 3: this game. It's incredible to see the amount of trainers
- 19:23Speaker 3: even on the field for warm-ups and everything that goes
- 19:26Speaker 3: into it.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Even game day. The game day crew. We're at Ole
- 19:29Speaker 1: Miss in the Grove, and they're still taking down the set.
- 19:31Speaker 3: I'm reading a book called An Army at Dawn. It's
- 19:34Speaker 3: part of the Liberation Trilogy. About different theaters of war
- 19:37Speaker 3: during World War II. And the first eight chapters are
- 19:40Speaker 3: about mobilizing an army to invade North Africa through Italy
- 19:44Speaker 3: and going into North Africa. And I'm thinking just the
- 19:47Speaker 3: logistics of that that you don't even think about. of
- 19:50Speaker 3: how are you going to come up on land and
- 19:53Speaker 3: not hit different things as you're going up and all
- 19:55Speaker 3: the different problems they had with wrecking boats that were
- 19:58Speaker 3: delivering humans and tanks and Jeeps and everything else that
- 20:02Speaker 3: has to get to where the theater of war is.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I'm not comparing war to college football. There is a
- 20:09Speaker 3: little bit of an aspect, Hutton, of mobilizing an army.
- 20:12Speaker 3: I mean, the food you're bringing, the supplies you're bringing,
- 20:15Speaker 3: the semis, everything else that goes into it. Now, what's
- 20:19Speaker 3: the motivation and what do you want from a football
- 20:21Speaker 3: perspective if you're these two schools? I think it's very clear.
- 20:25Speaker 3: If you were Georgia, you were calling Greg Sankey and saying,
- 20:28Speaker 3: weather's a mess. We can't do this. We can't drive
- 20:31Speaker 3: into a hurricane and the after effects of it. We
- 20:34Speaker 3: can't stay in Tuscaloosa. Move this thing to Atlanta where
- 20:37Speaker 3: the weather's going to be fine. We're going to be indoors.
- 20:40Speaker 3: We don't lose a day of prep for whatever's to
- 20:43Speaker 3: come the rest of the season. We're not changing the day.
- 20:45Speaker 3: If you are Alabama, the argument is the opposite. It
- 20:48Speaker 3: is play the thing on Sunday. Stadium's open. Going to
- 20:52Speaker 3: be fine. All of our fans are going to get
- 20:54Speaker 3: there safely on Sunday. Not going to be any issues.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Let's save our home game. in our atmosphere and play
- 21:01Speaker 3: it on Sunday and not have to travel because then
- 21:03Speaker 3: you have two different armies mobilizing. If Alabama also now
- 21:07Speaker 3: has to go on the road to Atlanta to get
- 21:09Speaker 3: ready to play a game. So look, it's a mess, Hutton.
- 21:12Speaker 3: There's a lot that goes into it. I know Greg
- 21:14Speaker 3: Sankey and his office are very busy right now, but
- 21:17Speaker 3: I do think that he's probably hearing two very contrasting
- 21:21Speaker 3: things and ideas about what needs to be done based
- 21:24Speaker 3: on the football motivations of Kirby Smart and Kalen DeBoer.
- 21:28Speaker 1: If you're the SEC.
- 21:30Speaker 2: What time slot would you want on Sunday? I realize
- 21:35Speaker 2: there's logistics here. There's a game for both teams the
- 21:37Speaker 2: next week. Those things factor in. But what time slot
- 21:43Speaker 2: would you want to go head-to-head with the NFL? Because
- 21:46Speaker 2: ESPN is going to have their say on this too.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But all things being equal, I think I know which
- 21:54Speaker 2: one I would want. I'd be fascinated by the rating.
- 21:57Speaker 2: It would be Sunday night.
- 21:59Speaker 3: It's absolutely Sunday night. I mean, you hit the nail
- 22:01Speaker 3: on the head. I was just looking to double-check. Bills
- 22:03Speaker 3: and Rams are your competition on Sunday night football.
- 22:07Speaker 1: It's one game.
- 22:08Speaker 3: It's not all the games.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You're right.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Not every fan of the NFL and every team is
- 22:11Speaker 3: going to be watching their game at that time.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You're going head-to-head with one game. And also, I don't.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Think you can make the decision based on, boy, we're
- 22:21Speaker 3: going to lose one rating. One game that was going
- 22:24Speaker 3: to have huge ratings. This is the most ideal scenario.
- 22:28Speaker 3: You just play it the next night around the same time, 6.15,
- 22:31Speaker 3: 6.30 kickoff for the game, and then you roll with
- 22:35Speaker 3: it that way. And yes, you're competing against one NFL game. Yes,
- 22:39Speaker 3: you will likely lose the ratings battle to the NFL
- 22:41Speaker 3: because everyone does, but you're still going to have a
- 22:44Speaker 3: lot of eyeballs on that game. If Alabama and Georgia's playing,
- 22:48Speaker 3: that's also going to take away from the NFL.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Which is hard to do.
- 22:51Speaker 3: They will take numbers from what that Bills-Rams game would
- 22:54Speaker 3: normally do because a lot of people will be tuned
- 22:57Speaker 3: in to Alabama and Georgia.
- 22:59Speaker 2: It's a hell of a Sunday night game, too, with
- 23:01Speaker 2: the brands of the NFL. You had Carolina, for instance,
- 23:05Speaker 2: on a primetime game recently. Look, we haven't seen Georgia
- 23:11Speaker 2: much either this season. We haven't been talking much about
- 23:15Speaker 2: them at all. We know what to expect from Kirby Sparks. Man,
- 23:19Speaker 2: what an adjustment, though, now for Keelan Russell and that
- 23:23Speaker 2: group if they're expecting a home game, and now it's
- 23:25Speaker 2: a neutral site, if not more Georgia fans making the trek.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's going to be– by the way,
- 23:34Speaker 3: Bill's Rams, I'm sorry, that's Monday night football.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Am I looking at this right? Am I on the
- 23:38Speaker 1: right week? Week five.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Hold on a second. Yes, no, that's Monday night. The
- 23:44Speaker 3: Falcons play Sunday night.
- 23:46Speaker 1: There you go.
- 23:46Speaker 3: In Atlanta.
- 23:47Speaker 1: In Atlanta. In Atlanta, so that can't happen. Yeah, well,
- 23:51Speaker 1: I thought about that. Okay, there we go. Good job.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I just saw Catfish Jake say Sunday night in Atlanta
- 23:55Speaker 3: is the best contingency plan, and I'm thinking, oh, I'm
- 23:58Speaker 3: seeing now the Falcons are playing Sunday night in Atlanta,
- 24:00Speaker 3: so that's not a good contingency plan.
- 24:01Speaker 1: So there's got to be Saturday.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Brooks Carter from Next Round Live says, this is from
- 24:06Speaker 3: legendary Alabama meteorologist James Spann this morning. Best possible case
- 24:11Speaker 3: is for a faster-moving system. Rain could end before kickoff
- 24:14Speaker 3: with diminishing wind. That's a very real possibility. But with
- 24:17Speaker 3: the current forecast, rain is still likely for the game
- 24:20Speaker 3: with winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour. And
- 24:23Speaker 3: a tornado threat is on the table as well. So
- 24:29Speaker 3: I think you got, I mean, you're likely, if you're
- 24:32Speaker 3: going to play it on Sunday, you can't play it
- 24:34Speaker 3: Sunday in Atlanta.
- 24:35Speaker 1: So that's not an option.
- 24:37Speaker 3: You got to go find another venue that you could
- 24:39Speaker 3: play it somewhere in the southeast or wherever that's not
- 24:43Speaker 3: affected by it on Sunday.
- 24:44Speaker 1: If this were next year, we'd be playing it here. Yes. Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: he could.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I mean, I think you play it Sunday in Tuscaloosa.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I know Georgia's not going to want.
- 24:55Speaker 1: To do that. Well, that's the way to do it, though,
- 24:58Speaker 1: if it's the home. It was a true road game anyway.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And if there's a chance that it could come through early,
- 25:03Speaker 2: you can't factor that in because you have to make
- 25:07Speaker 2: the decision so early in advance of this. So you've
- 25:10Speaker 2: got to make the call now about, you know, a
- 25:13Speaker 2: weather pattern that you're unsure of going into it. Very
- 25:16Speaker 2: rare occurrence that we're not seeing something like this in
- 25:18Speaker 2: Florida or somewhere on the coast instead of Tuscaloosa.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so the next week, so for Georgia's purposes, if
- 25:26Speaker 3: they said, hey, you're going to play it Sunday night,
- 25:29Speaker 3: they would have to get back and prepare for Auburn
- 25:31Speaker 3: at home is their next week games. Alabama goes to Knoxville.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Not ideal for Alabama also on those to have everything
- 25:41Speaker 3: backed up a day. and then turn around and get
- 25:43Speaker 3: ready to go on a very difficult road trip to
- 25:46Speaker 3: Tennessee the following week. Look, there's a lot of factors.
- 25:52Speaker 3: There's a lot of desires. Every time there are jobs
- 25:55Speaker 3: on the line. There's a lot of people's well-being when
- 25:58Speaker 3: you're talking about big-time SEC football games. There's a lot
- 26:02Speaker 3: of fans' well-being you've got to concern yourself with too.
- 26:05Speaker 3: If I'm Greg Sankey, it's almost like when the ref–
- 26:10Speaker 3: has players and coaches yelling at them and they're trying
- 26:13Speaker 3: to huddle and they're screaming at them to back up
- 26:15Speaker 3: and get away. I don't need to hear from you
- 26:17Speaker 3: right now. I don't need to hear from you. I
- 26:19Speaker 3: think if I'm Greg Sankey, I don't need to hear
- 26:21Speaker 3: from Georgia. I don't need to hear from Alabama right
- 26:23Speaker 3: now about what they want separately and about what should
- 26:26Speaker 3: happen because they both have very different motivations about how
- 26:29Speaker 3: this should go down. You have to rationally figure out
- 26:33Speaker 3: what is safest, what is best for players, coaches, fans,
- 26:38Speaker 3: everyone involved. support personnel, emergency personnel in Tuscaloosa or Atlanta
- 26:44Speaker 3: or wherever you're going to play this thing, you've got
- 26:46Speaker 3: to figure out what's best for everyone involved and not
- 26:48Speaker 3: concern yourself with what Kirby Smart wants or what Kalen
- 26:51Speaker 3: DeBoert wants because they both want very different things.
- 26:54Speaker 2: And what a massive game for the sake of the
- 26:56Speaker 2: SEC in determining everything.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Huge.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Luke says if sustained winds are above 30 miles per hour,
- 27:05Speaker 2: The game day likely cannot use their stage because of
- 27:09Speaker 2: the wind on the stage. That makes sense, too. They'll
- 27:15Speaker 2: be somewhere inside without the same type of atmosphere. They'll
- 27:19Speaker 2: be at Fikern, Chad.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 27:23Speaker 3: We need a review of everywhere that is open also. Well,
- 27:28Speaker 3: New Orleans, since they played Thursday night.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:32Speaker 3: In New Orleans would also be open on Sunday. But
- 27:33Speaker 3: I mean, that's you're talking about the storm around that
- 27:36Speaker 3: for people trying to get to the games. I know
- 27:38Speaker 3: it's going to New Orleans will be affected by the
- 27:40Speaker 3: storm a little bit also.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I don't I don't know.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Look, I don't make the check that Greg Sankey makes.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I don't have to make the big decisions that he makes,
- 27:48Speaker 3: but there's just a lot of factors that go into this.
- 27:50Speaker 3: It's fascinating to me to watch because we're not talking
- 27:53Speaker 3: about just some– this isn't some non-conference opponent for Alabama
- 27:58Speaker 3: this week. We were like, oh, who cares? Play it
- 28:01Speaker 3: Sunday or don't or move it or what. This is Alabama,
- 28:04Speaker 3: Georgia with SEC championship stakes high. involved in this game,
- 28:09Speaker 3: and we're talking about it possibly moving. So we'll see
- 28:12Speaker 3: what they decide. I want to know the timeline, too.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I would think by tomorrow morning, on a Thursday morning,
- 28:17Speaker 3: they'll have some decision made.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Well, and especially if the game's on Saturday, I think
- 28:21Speaker 1: you have to do it today to get things mobile. Yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 1: you're right. Yeah. If the game's on Sunday, then that's different.
- 28:29Speaker 2: And Chad, seriously, though, Nashville's going to be in this
- 28:31Speaker 2: rotation type of thing moving forward with the Dome. This
- 28:36Speaker 2: would be a great situation here. You and I would
- 28:39Speaker 2: be potentially going to see, on a random week, we'd
- 28:42Speaker 2: be going to see Alabama-Georgia on a Sunday if the
- 28:45Speaker 2: Titans aren't playing, or we'd be going to see them
- 28:47Speaker 2: on a Saturday.
- 28:47Speaker 1: It'd be unbelievable. Randomly. We own the field. They suddenly
- 28:52Speaker 1: get in.
- 28:54Speaker 3: The mix for any weather contingencies with an indoor venue
- 28:57Speaker 3: to move games.
- 28:58Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I would much rather see this game than 0-4 versus
- 29:02Speaker 2: 0-4 with Titans and Texans this week.
- 29:04Speaker 1: That's for sure.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Lutz also points out, hey, the Waffle House index is
- 29:09Speaker 2: in play here. If the Waffle House is closed, you
- 29:11Speaker 2: can't play the college football game.
- 29:13Speaker 1: That's true.
- 29:14Speaker 3: This is a Southern staple for many years. You go
- 29:17Speaker 3: by what Waffle House is telling you, that they're the
- 29:19Speaker 3: best emergency coordinators around or the management at Waffle House.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Stay tuned. A lot more coming. We've got primary complaint.
- 29:25Speaker 2: We've got Derek Dooley, who's going to join the show
- 29:27Speaker 2: as well in about 30 minutes.
- 29:29Speaker 1: This is hot to withdraw.

- 30:31Speaker 2: Chad, we've got plenty on the table over the last
- 30:35Speaker 2: week to complain about.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Let me jump in there and tell you something I
- 30:40Speaker 3: want to complain about.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I thought you might go here. Okay.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I'm still, the algorithm, I mentioned it yesterday, the R
- 30:48Speaker 3: word algorithm, I think, has still got me looped in
- 30:51Speaker 3: where people that are just mad that I had a
- 30:53Speaker 3: problem with Cam Ward and his demeanor. before the press
- 30:57Speaker 3: conference last week. And I'm like, this could go away
- 31:00Speaker 3: if you stopped responding constantly to it, because we had
- 31:04Speaker 3: moved on at this point. And now you don't want
- 31:06Speaker 3: to move on and you want to call me, you know, everything,
- 31:09Speaker 3: but a good guy on social media over and over
- 31:13Speaker 3: and over and over a.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Couple of things.
- 31:15Speaker 3: And I'm going to get to my actual primary complaint later.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Why is it everybody that holds a, that just has
- 31:20Speaker 3: a picture of their pet in their profile picture is
- 31:24Speaker 3: like says the most vile things to people online that
- 31:27Speaker 3: I'm getting right now. It's usually just a picture of
- 31:29Speaker 3: their dog on there. It's either no picture, a picture
- 31:32Speaker 3: of their dog or a picture of a Titans logo
- 31:35Speaker 3: or a Titans player. That's like their fake fan account
- 31:38Speaker 3: where they just go after people. Always makes me laugh
- 31:41Speaker 3: every time that I see that. Here's the other thing too.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Here's my new approach. If I say something that offends
- 31:48Speaker 3: you or makes you mad on this show, I'm just
- 31:50Speaker 3: going to come back the next day and.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Be like, guys, I was just joking. I was just
- 31:54Speaker 1: joking around.
- 31:56Speaker 4: Oh, oh, no.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Oh, I called. I said he was acting like a punk. Oh, no,
- 32:00Speaker 3: I was just joking. That was totally a joke. I
- 32:03Speaker 3: didn't mean anything that I said. This is the biggest
- 32:06Speaker 3: cop out. He was not joking. He was standing there.
- 32:10Speaker 3: He was myth that nobody was there to watch him.
- 32:12Speaker 3: He had just played not great. They had lost another game.
- 32:16Speaker 1: They're 0-4.
- 32:17Speaker 3: And I'm hearing people say, it's just his demeanor. It's
- 32:20Speaker 3: just who he is.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Great.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Then he lacks the personality and demeanor of a star
- 32:24Speaker 3: NFL quarterback. You're actually agreeing with what we said. Look,
- 32:28Speaker 3: I'll say this. When I say that he looks like
- 32:31Speaker 3: a punk... I'm not saying he's a punk. Like if
- 32:35Speaker 3: I tell the person that's tweeting me, you're acting like
- 32:38Speaker 3: a bitch, it's not me saying you're a bitch. Those
- 32:41Speaker 3: are two different things when I say that. If I
- 32:44Speaker 3: say that to a friend, those are two different things. Now,
- 32:48Speaker 3: he looks more like an entitled brat. That's probably the
- 32:51Speaker 3: word that I would use that more accurately describes it
- 32:54Speaker 3: instead of punk, which people take in whatever context they want.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I'm sure someone hates the word brat, though.
- 32:58Speaker 3: But he looked like a brat when he was up
- 33:01Speaker 3: there and doing that. And I'm sorry if that offends you.
- 33:04Speaker 3: And by the way, if you are offended, then I'll
- 33:06Speaker 3: just come back tomorrow and say I was joking. And
- 33:08Speaker 3: then everything will be fine. And then Hutton will agree
- 33:10Speaker 3: with me. Oh, Chad was just joking when he said that.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Nothing to see here. He's just joking around, guys.
- 33:15Speaker 2: I'm more likely to buy into the whole, oh, he's
- 33:19Speaker 2: joking thing, if that's the one moment in time that
- 33:27Speaker 2: I'm referring to. What allows me to go to the
- 33:31Speaker 2: whole and jump to that conclusion that he's not joking
- 33:35Speaker 2: is the timeline of stuff. The fact that the guy's
- 33:40Speaker 2: asked a question that any NFL player could be asked,
- 33:43Speaker 2: any NFL quarterback, how would you assess your preseason performance?
- 33:49Speaker 2: And it turns into a moment where a guy doesn't
- 33:51Speaker 2: have his credential anymore. That factors into me hearing something
- 33:57Speaker 2: or seeing something and assuming he's not joking because nothing
- 34:01Speaker 2: else has been a joking or laughing matter. So that,
- 34:04Speaker 2: that's why I lean that way initially. So it's, it's a,
- 34:08Speaker 2: it's a complete group of moments, not just this one
- 34:12Speaker 2: postgame moment, Chad.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yeah. That's why I'm able to make sense of it.
- 34:17Speaker 3: It's, it's a great point.
- 34:18Speaker 1: It's not one thing. It's a trend.
- 34:22Speaker 3: It's, it's, it's just also this, like the whole mindset
- 34:26Speaker 3: mentality is, when you do this of, oh, talk about
- 34:30Speaker 3: the play or talk about this, or he hasn't been
- 34:32Speaker 3: good enough, fine, but these character assassinations and this, talking
- 34:37Speaker 3: about this, it's a non-story. I mean, it just exhausts
- 34:42Speaker 3: Hutton because I'm exhausted by everything else that you're talking about.
- 34:46Speaker 3: It's not just that, it's the, hey, Cam, tell us
- 34:50Speaker 3: about your play and how you would rate your performance today. Oh,
- 34:53Speaker 3: the receivers need to flatten out their routes more. Hey Cam,
- 34:57Speaker 3: how would you rate your performance this preseason? Well, how
- 35:01Speaker 3: would you rate it? Okay, cool. Without answering the question.
- 35:05Speaker 3: It's Cam, why do you continue to look bad in
- 35:07Speaker 3: preseason games? Well, it's because I look so good in
- 35:10Speaker 3: practice and preseason games don't matter. It's one thing after another.
- 35:15Speaker 3: He's constantly breaking your tablet on the sideline instead of
- 35:18Speaker 3: correcting mistakes.
- 35:19Speaker 2: And he doesn't joke around a lot at press conferences.
- 35:21Speaker 2: That's not how I would describe him at all.
- 35:25Speaker 3: No.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Very focused. He's locked in. Let's put it that way.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Well, I will say the crowd out there that's defending
- 35:32Speaker 3: him has motivated me to take this approach now. So
- 35:36Speaker 3: I think this is going to work for us. When
- 35:37Speaker 3: everybody gets offended, I'm just going to respond to everyone
- 35:39Speaker 3: and say, I was just joking, just like Cam. Just
- 35:42Speaker 3: like Cam was joking. I was just joking, guys. Sorry
- 35:44Speaker 3: you can't take a joke. I feel like Anchorman when
- 35:48Speaker 3: Veronica Corningstone said she wanted to be lead anchor and
- 35:51Speaker 3: Ron Burgundy responded when he was laughing about it. I
- 35:53Speaker 3: thought you were joking. Me and my buddies all had
- 35:55Speaker 3: a great laugh about it that you actually wanted to
- 35:57Speaker 3: be lead anchor. That's the way I feel about this. Look,
- 36:01Speaker 3: he looked like an entitled brat. That's the way it looked.
- 36:05Speaker 3: That's what I'm going to continue to say. I have
- 36:07Speaker 3: shown that video to people who don't care at all
- 36:09Speaker 3: about the Titans, that don't know much about football, who
- 36:12Speaker 3: say he looks like a brat in that video. And
- 36:15Speaker 3: it's bad optics for a guy that's right now a
- 36:18Speaker 3: bad NFL quarterback. And you don't want to continue to
- 36:21Speaker 3: have self-inflicted wounds and pile one on the other. If
- 36:25Speaker 3: Cam Ward comes out and has a perfect press conference
- 36:27Speaker 3: after a loss and says, guys, you I'm owning it.
- 36:31Speaker 1: It starts with me.
- 36:32Speaker 3: I'm not going to sit here and talk about anybody else.
- 36:33Speaker 3: I got to be better, too. We got to get
- 36:35Speaker 3: better as a team and I'm going to improve. I'll
- 36:38Speaker 3: be the first one to stand up here and be like,
- 36:39Speaker 3: you know what?
- 36:40Speaker 1: Great job. Way to be accountable.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Way to not roll your receivers under the bus or
- 36:44Speaker 3: talk about anything else or not throw temper tantrums and
- 36:48Speaker 3: break multiple tablets over the course of games on the
- 36:51Speaker 3: sideline because it's not going your way. and showing some
- 36:54Speaker 3: actual signs of improvement. I'll be the first to say,
- 36:57Speaker 3: good job. Way to go on that. He's not giving
- 37:00Speaker 3: us enough reasons to say, good job, way to go. Instead,
- 37:03Speaker 3: he's got a bunch of people defending him about joking,
- 37:06Speaker 3: where he's not joking.
- 37:07Speaker 1: He wasn't joking.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Anybody can watch the video that's not a Titans fan
- 37:12Speaker 3: or that's not beholden to Cam Ward, and your reaction
- 37:15Speaker 3: watching that video is not going to be, oh, he's
- 37:17Speaker 3: clearly just joking here about that.
- 37:20Speaker 1: He wasn't. So stop with it. No.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I totally agree with you, Chad. I don't see a
- 37:27Speaker 2: quarterback who's joking, really, at all. I've never come across
- 37:32Speaker 2: him as a guy who's laughing. I don't know if
- 37:35Speaker 2: I've seen the guy laugh, to be honest with you.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I swear.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of a moment right now where
- 37:40Speaker 2: he's laughing with the media. Haven't seen it. With that
- 37:44Speaker 2: in mind, that's not his top grievance of the week,
- 37:47Speaker 2: but we have him right now. It's time for primary complaint. Chad,
- 37:50Speaker 2: my primary complaint this week, We went to the theater.
- 37:53Speaker 2: We saw Digger. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved
- 37:57Speaker 2: going back to the theater. IMAX was awesome. Love IMAX.
- 38:01Speaker 2: My primary complaint, though, is the concession line. There were
- 38:04Speaker 2: how many people there? I would say in the entire theater, 30.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Not hours. Not hours.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Just in the entire building. 30 people, max. I get
- 38:15Speaker 2: behind four people in line at the concessions. And it
- 38:20Speaker 2: took no less than 20, 25 minutes for me to
- 38:23Speaker 2: go from the back of the line through all the
- 38:24Speaker 2: way to get popcorn and Coke.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I don't know how that's possible in this day and age.
- 38:27Speaker 2: There were two people behind the concession line or behind
- 38:31Speaker 2: the register. One was training the other one. And now
- 38:36Speaker 2: it's not the time to train. Don't train on how
- 38:38Speaker 2: to run a register if you can't get four people
- 38:42Speaker 2: through the line yourself. within 20 minutes. Give me my Coke,
- 38:45Speaker 2: my expensive popcorn, and let me be on my way.
- 38:49Speaker 2: That is my primary complaint.
- 38:51Speaker 3: And we thought you had died. Me and Will were
- 38:54Speaker 3: sitting in there and Will was like, where is he?
- 38:56Speaker 3: When you left for the concession, you were like two
- 38:59Speaker 3: or three movie trailers in before you got back. And
- 39:02Speaker 3: you probably left 10 minutes before the trailer started.
- 39:04Speaker 2: I asked for a large popcorn and Coke or Pepsi
- 39:08Speaker 2: or whatever they had, doesn't matter. And And they looked
- 39:11Speaker 2: at me like, do you want butter? I'm like, no,
- 39:13Speaker 2: I don't want any, but just popcorn and just a Pepsi.
- 39:17Speaker 2: And they're trying to upsell me on other things. And
- 39:20Speaker 2: then they're like, okay, you push this button, this button.
- 39:22Speaker 2: But they had already done that five different times. And
- 39:24Speaker 2: then one person had like three people with. It was
- 39:27Speaker 2: a mess. You've got to be better than that. if
- 39:30Speaker 2: you want my experience to be like, you know what?
- 39:31Speaker 2: I can't wait to go back. I don't want to
- 39:33Speaker 2: go back to experience that. I want to sneak in
- 39:35Speaker 2: refreshments on my own.
- 39:36Speaker 3: They must have brought in a trainee after. We had
- 39:38Speaker 3: no problem walking right through and getting our stuff. Do
- 39:40Speaker 3: it on a Tuesday or Wednesday, not on a Friday.
- 39:44Speaker 3: As movies are coming out, too, I would say that's
- 39:46Speaker 3: not the time to train your employees.
- 39:48Speaker 1: But I understand that.
- 39:49Speaker 2: There's nobody in there, but pick up the pace. Act
- 39:54Speaker 2: like somebody that's standing taking tickets where no one's coming through.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Act like they're the customer and then train.
- 40:01Speaker 3: I also have a movie-related primary complaint today. We have
- 40:04Speaker 3: to have some arbiter of expectation on what is acceptable
- 40:09Speaker 3: and what is appropriate and what is inappropriate for children.
- 40:12Speaker 3: That's a standard requirement. that everyone agrees upon. It can't
- 40:16Speaker 3: just be, well, what's right for your household may not
- 40:19Speaker 3: be right for another household, and can't we all just
- 40:21Speaker 3: get along, and can't we expose everyone to everything? Like
- 40:25Speaker 3: a trailer for this movie, Other Mommy, that has appeared
- 40:30Speaker 3: at least four times during Major League Baseball playoff games,
- 40:34Speaker 3: right as they go to break. I mean, I am
- 40:36Speaker 3: watching Ronald Acuna ground out, and the moment he.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Grounds out, boom!
- 40:41Speaker 3: The trailer for this movie comes on during Major League
- 40:45Speaker 3: Baseball games and one that started at 5 p.m. My
- 40:48Speaker 3: kids are in the room, guys. I don't want to
- 40:50Speaker 3: sound like some old fuddy-duddy here, but this trailer gave
- 40:54Speaker 3: me nightmares when I saw it in theaters before the
- 40:56Speaker 3: Odyssey and IMAX. So I'm having to tell them to
- 40:59Speaker 3: close their ear to earmuffs it and shut their eyes
- 41:02Speaker 3: and not look.
- 41:03Speaker 1: At the screen.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I'm saying, Lucy, turn away. Lucy, turn away. Because she's
- 41:06Speaker 3: just staring at the screen when it comes on. And
- 41:09Speaker 3: I'm thinking, here comes Jessica Chastain breaking her joints and
- 41:12Speaker 3: crawling out from underneath the table to scare her children
- 41:16Speaker 3: as a mom that is possessed by some demonic spirit.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Whispering, your mommy won't save you.
- 41:21Speaker 3: I mean, what are we doing with what we're showing
- 41:24Speaker 3: during breaks, during big time sporting events? This was not
- 41:27Speaker 3: a thing when I was growing up. And people could say, well,
- 41:31Speaker 3: just turn away then. You can do that with streaming services.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I don't have to watch your Netflix show. I don't
- 41:37Speaker 3: have to watch your Paramount Plus show, but I want to.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Live sporting events are the last bastion of live events
- 41:43Speaker 3: to watch. I'm going to watch my Braves live when
- 41:47Speaker 3: I have the opportunity to do it.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I'm going to watch football live.
- 41:50Speaker 3: We have to have a better system of checks and
- 41:52Speaker 3: balances to not show that because kids are watching sports too.
- 41:57Speaker 3: We don't need an other mommy trailer every single break
- 42:01Speaker 3: during a baseball playoff game.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That's my primary complaint. I like it. JT. Guys, in
- 42:09Speaker 1: my house, we love delivery drivers. They love my wife.
- 42:14Speaker 1: We continue to grow their 401k. Go on.
- 42:21Speaker 4: So to the point that if they pass my house
- 42:23Speaker 4: and don't stop, they're probably thinking like divorce or death.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Right. Like there's one of the two.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Something's going on here. With that being said, I've got
- 42:31Speaker 4: a ring camera. It dings.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So, you know, you know, you're being recorded.
- 42:36Speaker 4: My primary complaint is for any delivery driver that feels
- 42:38Speaker 4: the need to ring my doorbell, which makes every Alexa
- 42:42Speaker 4: in my house go off. My phone dings. Doorbell rings.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Dogs lose their damn mind. Just really no reason to
- 42:49Speaker 4: leave the package. Take your picture and go on about
- 42:53Speaker 4: your merry way. I don't need you to ring. Matter
- 42:55Speaker 4: of fact, the only people that ring my doorbell. are
- 42:57Speaker 4: the delivery drivers. So please, just take your picture, leave
- 43:01Speaker 4: the package, and go on about your merry way.
- 43:05Speaker 2: See, I want them. I would want them to ring
- 43:07Speaker 2: that way. I know my package.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Is there.
- 43:11Speaker 2: I'm not saying anything about your neighbors or anything, but
- 43:14Speaker 2: in an era where people are coming up and grabbing
- 43:16Speaker 2: just random packages off of front porches, or maybe I'm
- 43:20Speaker 2: really looking forward to the delivery.
- 43:22Speaker 1: But my whole thing is to let me know that
- 43:24Speaker 1: it's there anyways. I don't need to. Oh, it tells
- 43:26Speaker 1: you anyway.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Okay, I got you. You get the alert. Porch pirates
- 43:30Speaker 3: aren't a thing in JT's neighborhood. So congratulations. I live
- 43:32Speaker 3: in a good spot too. Bet you're not concerned about that.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Congratulations. I'm still building next to Clay. Well done.
- 43:38Speaker 3: If anybody rings my doorbell, it's like borderline frightening to
- 43:42Speaker 3: me at this point. Like it's so rare. Like if
- 43:44Speaker 3: you don't know someone's coming over and someone were to
- 43:46Speaker 3: knock on my door or like at night. I mean,
- 43:48Speaker 3: this has happened maybe twice before. in the many years
- 43:52Speaker 3: that I've lived in this house, where someone unexpectedly has
- 43:54Speaker 3: rang the doorbell at night. And both times it was
- 43:57Speaker 3: a weird circumstance of like someone, you know, needing a
- 44:00Speaker 3: ride or a cell phone or whatever. But I immediately
- 44:03Speaker 3: like perk up, like, should I bring a weapon to
- 44:06Speaker 3: the door? How do I approach this when this happens?
- 44:10Speaker 3: Because all you're conditioned to believe is like movies you
- 44:13Speaker 3: watch when someone knocks on the door and everything else.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I hate it.
- 44:17Speaker 3: If you don't call me and tell me you're coming over,
- 44:19Speaker 3: this is not the era of just I'm going to
- 44:20Speaker 3: swing by and say hello to this person. It's a
- 44:23Speaker 3: very odd thing to do, to just knock on anybody's
- 44:25Speaker 3: door or ring their doorbell is odd.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I didn't realize until right now that it is unusual
- 44:31Speaker 2: to have a knock. Even on the food delivery I'll
- 44:33Speaker 2: have here, they don't knock. They just leave it at
- 44:35Speaker 2: my door. So I don't really know when it's there.
- 44:39Speaker 1: It's very unusual. So yeah, I guess I would.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Food delivery is the one where I'll make an addendum
- 44:46Speaker 3: and say, please ring my doorbell or knock when you
- 44:49Speaker 3: get there and I can just grab the food from you.
- 44:51Speaker 3: And that you're expecting that, you know, like it's the
- 44:54Speaker 3: unexpected that startles you every time if someone's at your door.
- 44:58Speaker 2: JT, does Tara want the doorbell to be, to be ringing,
- 45:01Speaker 2: whatever there's the package there or no?
- 45:02Speaker 4: She's typically not here, but it's my biggest issue is
- 45:05Speaker 4: the dogs, right? Because they, they hear that and they
- 45:08Speaker 4: just go bonkers and they don't stop. So, and it's also,
- 45:11Speaker 4: I've got every device in my house. you know, that
- 45:14Speaker 4: gives me a notification that the doorbell has been clicked
- 45:16Speaker 4: on top of me hearing the damn thing. So it's just,
- 45:19Speaker 4: I'm just kind of an old man and just don't,
- 45:21Speaker 4: don't ring my doorbell.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Well, how about, do you agree with what Chad said
- 45:26Speaker 2: about the movie preview? My question would be like, why
- 45:29Speaker 2: is this the only preview that we get anymore?
- 45:32Speaker 1: Are these weird movies like this? Yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 4: My kid just turned 10 and she's, she loves, I mean,
- 45:40Speaker 4: our house is full of just, halloween stuff already so
- 45:43Speaker 4: it's a little bit different the scarier the better for
- 45:45Speaker 4: her but if it's something that's going to bother you
- 45:47Speaker 4: know your kid i totally understand that but even like
- 45:49Speaker 4: to make that a little better you know games are.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Dvr proof i'm thinking like you would want to promote
- 45:55Speaker 2: every type of genre we really don't get that anymore
- 45:59Speaker 2: well and.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Look we're in october so i know that horror.
- 46:02Speaker 2: But even like chad but even um you've complained about
- 46:04Speaker 2: this in the past too with uh we just throughout
- 46:07Speaker 2: the year we randomly will get.
- 46:08Speaker 3: This Yeah, we just have to have an expectation that
- 46:13Speaker 3: that's not okay for kids. There's a lot of parents
- 46:16Speaker 3: who cuss all the time in front of their kids.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Don't cuss in front of other people's kids. Most parents
- 46:22Speaker 3: probably don't want their kids constantly bombarded with curse words
- 46:27Speaker 3: from adults around them.
- 46:28Speaker 1: It's not that hard to do.
- 46:30Speaker 3: We worked in radio for years and never said a
- 46:33Speaker 3: cuss word. You can cuss when you want and then
- 46:35Speaker 3: not cuss when you want to also. It's not the
- 46:38Speaker 3: most difficult thing in the world to accomplish. I'm not
- 46:41Speaker 3: some prude about things when it comes to adult entertainment
- 46:45Speaker 3: or things you're going to go watch that's R-rated. I
- 46:47Speaker 3: watch a lot of things that I don't want my

- 47:18Speaker 3: It's not your podcast. It's not your YouTube show. People
