- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I'm a little exhausted.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: I'm a little exhausted by the new the news drops, but we can get into that.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: But tell me about how's your week been?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: My week has been good.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I experienced something that I've never experienced last night.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And it's probably gonna be shocking to you that I've never experienced it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: But it was Hello Kitty and Friends Night at Dodger Stadium.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And I've been once before, but I like got there late.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So I kind of missed all the hoopla for lack of a better word people say anymore.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: No, Hello Kitty is hoopla.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Like it is hoopla.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: If it's Hello Kitty themed, it's like a cult-like following.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: It is a cult-like following.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And I've I've always liked Hello Kitty.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: She's great.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, who doesn't like Hello Kitty?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: She seems like a lovely kitty.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: She's so fat.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: She's so fat.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: She's so fat.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And the way she throws out the first pitch, I like really relate to.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: But I got fully caught up in it.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: First of all, you got a plush, a Hello Kitty and Friends plush toy, and it was a blind box.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Like you, you didn't know what you were getting.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I got a Hello Kitty, which is like the holy grail of Hello Kitty night.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So right off the bat, then I was like, now I'm Did you buy a lot of ticket?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Did you go buy a lotto ticket?
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: I should have bought a lot of ticket because I couldn't.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I mean you bought the 50-50 raffle tickets.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Come on, Tracy.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: What are we doing with what are we doing?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: I didn't.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: That was a mistake on my end.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna get a lotto ticket today.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: It's not too late.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: I think maybe the maybe the energy is going through the week, but I'll tell you what I did buy because now I got fully caught up.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I got a hello kitty popcorn holder because I'm gonna use that.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, naturally.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Naturally, the and and if you want to go to my Instagram, you can see me pour the popcorn to the popcorn holder and not well.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: I got a hello kitty mason jar.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: It was like a root beer float in the mason jar.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I had to throw out half the root beer float because it was like I just can't.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I'm not a root beer belvin, but continue, continue.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: I need to hear all the hello kitty swag you got.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: So that those actually are two hello.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And then my friend and I made, because for whatever reason, Hello Kitty and I made this feel like a necessity.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: We had to go get they do steak fritts in a lunch pail at Dodger Stadium, which was delicious.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: So we had to get that.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: It was an event, but I feel like I Hello Kitty so hard on this night.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm so like all of a sudden, I was like, Am I in the Hello Kitty cult?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: I'm so into it.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: My plush toy is going with me everywhere.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And and it was, I was very, very excited.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: And honestly, when I opened the box at my seats, I did like a little quote unquote unboxing.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: People around me were like, Oh, you got the hello kitty.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: It was like okay, yes, because I saw I I just loved your genuine reaction.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: I didn't really understand that it was like you don't know what you get in the box.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: I thought maybe everyone, and I was like, wow, that's really excited.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Tracy's excited about getting the giveaway that everybody knew they were gonna get.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: No, well, but that's which would be on brand, by the way.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, well, exactly, because what is life if you're not excited for everything?
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: So 100%.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: I I totally subscribe to that.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I think that's iconic.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: I think that's and I understand when you are in a space and place where things you never really like locked into or gravitated to before, and then all of a sudden it's kind of the excitement and fervor that gets you into it.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Some might say that the casuals who went to Taylor Swift's concerts understood, and some turned into Swifties.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Now, I'm not saying you're Hello Kitty yet, but you might be you might be one more item, one more Ola.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: I call her Ola Gatito because I think I was I was abroad one time and oh no, the kids I was nannying what once when I was younger, um, they told me that their other nanny taught them it was hola gatito for hello kitty in Spanish.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: See, I now I love it even more.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Now I love it even more.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I may be, I may be all hitting in here.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I'm now I noticed like the Rams are doing Hello Kitty Day, and I was like, Do I need to go to the Rams Hello Kitty Day?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Non-negotiable, absolutely, it's a near, not a one.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: She's so cute, she's so cute.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: I mean adorable, and when she does throw out the first pitch, last time when I got there late, I got there in time for the first pitch.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I was like, she's literally my spirit animal.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: This would be me.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't get the ball anywhere close to the plate, but I would dance and pretend like I did and say like this was the most fun thing ever.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: So I I get her.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: She she and I are our simpatico.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: So now I'm very into Hello Kitty.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: She's in.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: I will be scouring the Los Angeles area for Hello Kitty nights.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: And uh I'm really excited about it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: So that I'm I'm now I feel like my algorithm's gonna be all Hello Kitty too.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: It's going to be everywhere, and I'm not done.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna post a carousel letter later of the night.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: So you're if you look at it and engage with it at all, I want to be inundated.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Feed me Hello Kitty.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Next Friday at Dodger Stadium, they're doing a Luka Donchick bobblehead night, which should also be very fun.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And uh Luca and the Lakers kind of in the news this week because they got sold.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: That's real quick.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: I woke up, I was up yesterday morning and doing some prep work, whatever, and I get the ESPN alert on my phone.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: The Los Angeles Lakers have been sold for$12.5 billion.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: This is early.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Like I was up early, early.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: I think Ramona dropped it about 7 8.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Maybe I don't know.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: It felt like it was definitely early.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I hadn't been getting work emails yet.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: I hadn't had my mom call me yet, you know.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: So I was like, this is I looked at my phone and I did a double take.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: I dropped it, I was like, wait, what?
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: And then I was like, what?
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: And I opened my phone and I had to walk away from my computer for a moment because I was I was shocked.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: And the headline obviously being like Mark Walters, owner of the Dodgers, bought them 10 months, bought bought the Lakers, which was previously this untouchable golden franchise, right?
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Like the bus family was never going to sell until the pretty offer of 10 billion comes along from Walters.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: And now you're telling me twice with the It's Walter, there's no S, just definitely in case it definitely comes up.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: First of all, you're welcome.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: I have been saying Walter, and then enough people have been saying Walters to me that I thought I was wrong.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: No, it's Mark Walter.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, here to help you.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: These are the things I can help with.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Is there an S?
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Is there not an S?
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: No, and I have okay, thank you for that.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: I honestly flipped yesterday, started saying Walters because I I thought I was, but no, it's Mark Walter and it's plural possessive Walters.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Mark like Mark Walters Dodgers, maybe it's like Mark and I'm company.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: And I am definitely a person who try I'm like kind of at this point in my life where I'm like, I don't need to be the one to correct people, like it doesn't matter.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: But I thought in this situation, no, this one's no, thank you.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: And it it is really funny because I've been saying it Walter, but you know, enough, like when enough people start telling you the color is purple, but you've been seeing it blue, and then so you're like, oh, maybe it is that was kind of where I was at, headspace-wise.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: But I also I say TWG sometimes just to not like even go with the Walters, but anyways, long story short, this the Lakers have now been sold twice within the last 10 months.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Walter basically got 20, he earned 20 profit in that time.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Great business.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: He's not a business man, he's a business man.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that it was it's uh it's a pretty great deal to have then made like two billion dollars within the 10 months.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of things I would sell for two billion dollars, not my dogs, and I'd sell my dignity for two billion dollars.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, when you might be able to work to get that back, I actually had this conversation with someone yesterday.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: I was like, I would, I definitely wouldn't sell my dogs, they're like they're the untouchables.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: There's literally nothing you could give me for my dogs because they're the number ones.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And then I was like, but I think I'd sell my shohei decoy bobblehead for two billion just if I had to.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: And there's basically everything.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: I really appreciate that sacrifice from you.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that is my that's my next thing after my dogs.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Make this a clip.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: I just said I would sell my dignity for two billion dollars, and you said maybe you'd sell your shohei decoy bobblehead.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: This would be a perfect clip.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: We do need this, we do need this clip because I think it's pretty pretty amazing thing, and I really hope Shohei and Decoy see that and see that I'm like I'd be on the fence.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: I hope they do too, but all that to say, the new owners, um Iger, Kushner, Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, and so they're gonna be taking over the Lakers.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and the same week that the schedule, well, some of the schedule dropped.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: I don't think the whole schedule dropped, right?
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: You're more my you're my MBA actually.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they they can't do the full schedule, but they you get the the trail, the like they bread crumb us, right?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: With yeah, the you know what we need to do though right now, because I think this is very interesting.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Like we get so with a schedule drop like this for the NBA, you get um you get the uh opening night, like the Christmas days, you get a lot of the national broadcast, but speaking of which, yes, I think the NFL owns Christmas now.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I think they do.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: And they just they like were a thief in the night.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: They stole it right out from under the NBA.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And the thing that actually was pretty amazing about it is they're actually not a thief, thief in the night.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: They stole it in plain sight, but they did it so I don't want to say quietly, but kind of like we're gonna try this Christmas Day thing.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, next thing you know, now the NFL owns Christmas Day because the NFL reigns supreme, it just does, and I know we've talked about it before, but it's it is the king queen of sports here in this country.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: And I think in the past, the problem that the NFL has run into is like you pick these highly anticipated matchups for a marquee day like Christmas or Thanksgiving, and then they evolved to be duds by the time the holiday approaches.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: But now what the NFL has done by putting what four games on Christmas?
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: I think there are four.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: There are multiple games on Christmas, and I mean the NBA.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna look it up while you're chatting.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the okay, I'll look up the NBA, you look up NFL.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: So I have the NBA games right now for Christmas, okay, uh, 2026.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: You've got the Spurs at the Knicks, so rematch of the finals.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: That's noon Eastern.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: So Pacific time, wake up.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know how many people on the uh on you know California's coastline are gonna really be locked into that one as opposed to presents.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Um then you've got at 2:30 Eastern, you have the Celtics and the Heat.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Five o'clock, you have the Lakers and the 76ers.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: I think that could be entertaining, you know, two o'clock Christmas Day, LeBron, Lakers, you know, all that.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Um, eight o'clock Eastern, this is where you start you start losing the folks, right?
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: You have the Thunder and the Timberwolves, and right after that, you have the Nuggets and the Warriors.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: I just think by that is where you well, and you've also earlier in the day in the NFL.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: So there are three games.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: At one o'clock Eastern, you have the Packers at the Bears, that no matter what, that's a big rivalry of the rivalry, absolute cinema, and those games are always cinema.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Then at 4:30 Eastern, you have the Bills at the Broncos, which becomes a divisional round rematch, I believe.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: And that is going to be a really fun game because you know both of those teams are going to be competing.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: And you're going to be in Denver on Christmas.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Will it be snowing?
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Like all of the things.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: And then last but certainly not least, at 8:15 Eastern, you have the Rams at the Seahawks.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: So the NFL has picked three matchups that actually I think are fail-safe in a way.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Because you have the rivalry in the morning, you have the rivalry at night, but you know all those teams will be good.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: And then in the middle of it, you're going to have Josh Allen and this tremendous Denver Broncos defense and Jalen Waddle.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: And like you're going to have a great game.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: So they killed it.
- 13:25unknown: One.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: And I know I also think like that game, right?
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: When you look, Bill's Mafia isn't going to miss anything for the world.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: You know, and so I and Broncos fans are so loyal.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: I just think those games are going to be, yeah, from from the inherent rivalry of Bears Packers to that middle, middle of the day matchup.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: And then Rams, Seahawks is going to be.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: I remember that last December, that Rams, Seahawks game.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: It was the one that went into double overtime.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Yes, it was a Thursday night football game.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: It was absolutely and it was, I think the Rams were up, weren't they up like 31 to 14 at halftime?
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: And I was at a friend's house, it was like a girls' night.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: And I was like, you guys, we can turn this off.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: It's totally fine.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: And some of us were into it, but we were like, okay, we can just like chat.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: And then my friend who was hosting looked at her phone and she was like, Tracy, it's tied.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: They're going to overtime.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: I was like, put this game back on.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: That was crazy.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Their cinema always.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Christmas Day cinema.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: And that could be another NFC championship preview.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: So once again, NFL.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: NFL taking the crown.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: NFL nobody's safe.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: Nobody is safe.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm somewhere between they stole it like a thief in the night, but also in plain sight, which is the genius of it.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: That's wait, that's a great, a great line to kind of walk down.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And I also think I do think this is and this is a bigger discussion we can have throughout the fall, but I just think the NBA has fallen really out of touch in terms of being relevant and like can't miss.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, we've talked about this before.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: Major League Baseball figured it out.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: They figured out how to exist in a society where our attention spans are very, very, very short and make it exciting.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: And the NBA, there's just been what there's been too much drama around the game to not make the every game feel like it's can't miss too.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And also there's a lot of games.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: So yeah, no, I think you are a hundred percent correct.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: And it's actually at the game last night, it's funny, at 9 10, my friend was like, wow, this game feels like it's really long.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: We're going to the seventh inning.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oddly, it's actually only been two hours.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: But there it was kind of a weird game in the beginning.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: They were like long innings, but that was at 9 10 going to seventh inning.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: I was home by 10:30 and I stayed the entire game, which shows you how Major League Baseball has figured out.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Well, it seems like we lost Trace for just a little moment there.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: But what I can tell is pick up the thread on what Tracy was saying is that ultimately baseball used to be the game that nobody wanted to go to because it was so long, nobody could watch all the time.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: Listen, Tracy, as you were saying, as I was saying, and my internet has been an adventure for the last week.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Everybody can relate to that.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: That is it's kind of maybe one of the most relatable comments of all time is that the internet's been an adventure.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: But as I was saying, like the they figured it out.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: We were the game was over by 9:30, and I watched the entire game, got out of Dodger Stadium, and got home by 10.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's that's telling you right there that Major League Baseball is figured out.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: And there was a point, there was a pitch clock violation.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you, the umps, they do not mess around, they stand up, they do the thing like it's time you're the watch thing, and it's uh it's good.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: It's good.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: So good job, baseball, good job football, NBA.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: You have a little bit of work to do, a little bit of work to do.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: WNBA has a lot of work to do too.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, the discourse around the definite, you know, wild.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: I can't believe the I mean, and where do you stand on this?
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Because I feel like it's the fourth most talked-about professional sports league in the US.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, which is great for women's sports, but the nature of the headlines, the conversation, the people who are chiming in about games who have never watched a WNBA game online, whatever.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, I go back and forth because you know, there's that saying all PR is good PR, or any PR is is great.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: But when you're walking by and the hullabaloo is like so far.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Did you say hullabaloo?
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know where that came.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: I love it, I love it.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: I didn't even say banana loaf.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: I went for hula.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: I get hullabaloo.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: I can't believe that could be.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: And we are going to add it to our lexicon.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: It's in our lexicon, and let's see if we can hashtag it and get reading.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: It's pretty great.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: But but I'm sorry, I did not mean to drift you.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: What I'm saying is that it is crazy.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Like looking at, you know, when you're in a place with multiple sports TVs and the daily talk shows have headlines going on.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: I I've been in a position recently in the middle of the day where like three out of the five networks are talking about controversies in the WMBA, which is kind of crazy.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: But then I look at the headlines, I'm like, these are berserk.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Like, right.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: You know, but your your vocabulary today.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: On another level, I'm obsessed with it.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: And and I don't we I don't want us to have to go into the inside because there's no winning.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: No, there is no winning, but I I think you're right.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: There's there's that, you know what, it's amazing that this is something that people are talking about all the time.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: It's great for women's sports, but you're right, the headlines are berserk.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: And I think what also happens and has happened with the WMBA is some of it is we should be talking about this, so we're gonna talk about it, but people don't really know what they're talking about.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So I think there's this like, oh, well, we should be talking about it, but you you you should still know what you're talking about, you should be right prepared, you should have the knowledge, all of the things.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Uh, but you're right, it's it is one headline after another.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: And I do I go back and forth on this all the time, and we're probably not gonna solve it today.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but my back and forth being, well, we're talking about it, so this is a good thing.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: And I I do believe that to some level, but the discourse is you know all over the place.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Well, and then okay, on I mean, I don't I and this is this is a question we can like toss around, but you know, there's former pro MBA players who weren't really accomplished.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, I mean, they made it in the NBA, blah blah blah, but now you know they're trying to chime in and enter the chat, and it's like that doesn't, I don't know if it helps really, because you're just causing more of a spectacle and making it more of a circus, right?
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: You don't have to always be part of the conversation.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: It's okay to sit back and listen and observe and learn.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: You don't always have to chime in.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: And of course, social media has made it that plenty of people feel the need to chime in on literally everything, many things they don't know anything about.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: But I think maybe a good life lesson is you don't always have to be part of the conversation, you can just listen.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Learn if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all, or at least anything informative and knowledgeable to say.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: I would like to go with nice, but at least informative and knowledgeable, I think, would be would be a good rule of thumb as well.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Nice, informative, knowledgeable.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: Our lexicon just keeps growing.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: I love it, and we're getting all these sayings.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: I love it too.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: It's fantastic.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Well, we talked NFL reigning supreme, and nothing shows how supreme the NFL is reigning more than training camp and preseason football.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: We had the Hall of Fame game last week, which was I think maybe one of the most talked-about preseason games in recent history.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: It was exciting.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: People enjoyed watching it, which is very rare on preseason football.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: Let me tell you, as a not in life, there are many worse things in life, but as a sports reporter, there may be nothing worse than having to cover a week or game three preseason game that starts at 7 p.m.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: I would say that takes the case as one of the worst.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: My colleagues and I used to always tweet, we hope this goes fast.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe they should speed it up.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: So preseason.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Like hoping that hoping that someone just saw the tweet.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, and was like, you know what?
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Let's you're right, let's speed this up.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: We can cut a quarter out of this, no problem at all.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, but so for the Hall of Fame game to be so exciting.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: And talked about in a positive way is a big deal.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Preseason football leaves a lot to be desired.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Coaches will tell you that the tr the joint practices, they get a lot more because they put their ones against the ones.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Pre-season football, I always kind of feel bad saying that though, because for a lot of guys, preseason football is, I mean, this is the chance to make it.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: And I always try to be like cognizant of that and and remember that.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: And something that I'm also going to just say that I think is a good thing for everybody to keep in mind.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: It's not just a chance for these guys to make it on their teams, they're auditioning for the other 31 teams in a preseason game.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: So that is, you know, that it has its place and all of that.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: But I have never seen so much discourse around a preseason game that I saw around the Hall of Fame game.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: But then I also think it shows how desperate we are for football.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: We really, we really want any piece of football content.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I know I this time in general, I always, I always get so um, I I like, I don't, I don't want to say annoyed, but I'm like, we are really breaking down who looks good coming into camp and who, you know, who really looks like they're in shape.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: It's like, of course, everyone's gonna look good if they've worked out, or they might look look out of shape, like Travis Kelsey.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: I oh now, but I think did someone say that was AI?
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, maybe it was.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: I got gone.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know though, because I'm not sure if it was AI or if like someone said it was AI to say it was AI.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: I don't, I don't for sure.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's good for you to question.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, Travis Kelsey.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's let's look that because I actually would love an answer to that question because, and this is totally my bad.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: I saw that someone said it was AI, and then I did no more research around it.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, which is on it.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: So here's what the AI overview from Google is telling me upon searching.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: An AI generated video went viral in early August, falsely showing Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelsey looking out of shape with quote beer gut at training camp.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, good.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: That is good.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: He was in the news this week, and I don't I talk about like kind of desperate for stuff.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: We love Kelsey Swifty news, and I love like I'm a Taylor Sif fan.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: I'm a Swifty and like I like all the songs.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: I'm not like a fine Easter eggs Swifty, um, kind of because I don't entirely understand what that means, but I'm just I'm just not quite that kind of shift.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: She plants little clues in in songs, lyrics, music videos that allude to her next move.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now I have like a better no, I guess I didn't understand it.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: I kind of thought I just what haven't like looked.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: I think maybe what I did understand is like where, like, I don't I don't think I know enough lore to pick up these, but I do like all the songs.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: So I like Taylor Swift.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: So we love the Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey news.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but this week he was in the news for referring to her as his wife, which doesn't feel like news.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: It would be news if no one know they knew they got married, right?
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Everyone in the world, like I think literally the world knows they got married.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: So the fact that he called her his wife, I was like, how is this news?
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't understand how and that's where I think some things get taken a little too out of control with like the dissection of it all.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and you can blame the Swifties.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm in the Swifty verse, like I am a Swiftie, but okay, I don't go so far as that.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Like I'd be I'd be interested to hear.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: I also okay, here's a hot take.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'm excited.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: We we might we I might I might get canceled for this one, Tracy.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: I don't think your wedding should be the best night of your life.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Well, but do you think it should be the best night of your life up until that point?
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: Fair.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, that makes that's that's great context.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: But I would hope that the best night of my life could involve you know, something beyond like partnering with someone forever.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: I don't, I don't know, I don't know.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: I'm not married, I don't know, you know, but like it could be, it could be the best night of your life up until that point when you take into consideration it's your friends, it's your family, it's a party, it's bliss.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I would hope maybe 80-year-old whoever is not sitting around saying the my wedding was the best night of my life.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: And I do, I think that will be interesting.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: Context that maybe in 40 years we can talk about unslack.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Like, was it the best night of our lives up until that point?
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then that's that's so I that's a good question.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: But I I understand what you're saying there.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: I understand what you're saying.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: He he did say something that I did find kind of not, I don't know if I'd call it newsworthy, but as long as we were gonna take the quote, he's what when he called her his wife, he said, My wife, you know, went to the Knicks game.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: I was, I think he said I was stuck at OTAs or something.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: I found that to be a more interesting comment than and I don't have the quote entirely right, yeah, but I feel like that to me was more interesting than him calling her his wife because and I get it, OTAs, mini camp, training camp, all of it is a grind, and it's it's not I think OTAs are even worse because you're like so far from football, but you do have to like get in football shape and you want to be there and all the things.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: But I mean, I just thought that was kind of funny from a man who probably could have retired, maybe using the hack to, yeah, yeah, could have also could just say maybe should have retired, but let's see how the season goes.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: I could be wrong.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Also, I'm so glad he wasn't at the next game with Taylor.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: I want to that was so fun.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wanted her there with the Heim sisters and and Mariska, you know, yeah, with their cute shirts, yeah, and that was a girls' night.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: And can't I tell you how much I love that it was a girls' night at the Knicks game?
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: That's that we love, and we love supportive girlfriends, like there, she and Taylor Swift and Mariska Hargate are close friends, they have been for a very long time, and so they came really to support her, and they got super into it for her, and I love that.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Yep, and Taylor went to the Cavs playoffs game with Travis.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: Yes, we don't need to see Travis at the next game with Taylor.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: I don't need that.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: No, no, we definitely do not.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: We do not need to see Travis the next game with Taylor, and he didn't get to go because he was at OTA's.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: And do you do you think we'll ever get wedding photos?
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: That's a really good question.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: I actually I don't know.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: I feel like yes, I think she'll she'll decide what we get, and it'll probably go on her Instagram, yeah.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Um, because I feel like yes, because part of their thing, and this is not at all a criticism, yeah.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: So I'd like to preface it with that, but part of their thing is it is public, and that's okay, that's part of who they are.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: Um, I think there's a lot that's private.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: There's so much of private that we don't know.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: I think we know what they want us to know, and I fully respect that.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: But their relationship is public.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Part of the reason for her success is being in the public eye.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: So, yes, I think we will get them, but we'll get them when she wants to.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: So, here's a question: Do you think they get released on the first day of the season?
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: No, I feel like she's gotta be smart.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know though.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: I think people would be so into it.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: I also thought their wedding wouldn't be at MSG, and then it was, you know, like yeah, and I do I do think you're right.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: I think we get them from our Instagram.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: We got the engagement photos.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: That was, you know, that was that was like a year ago.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: I'll I'll never forget being in the air airport, and I got texts being like, oh my god, I was like, what?
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: Open up Instagram, OMG.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: But yeah, no, I think maybe we I think that's how it will come, and it will come from her.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: And she does so everything so intentionally that I was like, no, she wouldn't want to, you know, distract from NFL opening day or oh, you know, kickoff start of the season.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: But then I think she'd probably be like, haha, watch me, watch us, watch us women take over.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: And I don't even think she would be it would be a distraction.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: Like if she did it the morning of, it's not like people aren't gonna watch the Seahawks um and the Patriots because well, I'm very busy looking at Taylor Swift's Instagram photos of her wedding, so I am not watching this game.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know that she will take away from it.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Also, the Chiefs don't play that day, so or okay, or think of it this way: like every WAG has always like celebrated their significant other.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: At the start of their season, you know, we're at a significant accomplishment.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: And what a great for this girl who has been dreaming of a love story like this since she was, you know, 14, 15 years old to post like, to post, like, oh my gosh, good luck to my husband today as he kicks off X, you know, this season and she posts the wedding photo we've all been waiting for.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think it's definitely a possible like a possibility.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: Can you imagine when she calls if that happens and she calls him husband in that context with the wedding photos?
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: This news of him calling her his wife is gonna seem like literally nothing at all in the world.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: It's really good.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: And what if she puts like love story as the song for the carousel?
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: I think she has to, right?
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't, I'm not sure there's a choice in that matter.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Like, I think she has to make love story the song, so that's gonna be fun.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm excited for that.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: That's I'm excited.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: I hope it goes like that.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: We just wrote it, we just wrote it for her.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: You are welcome, Taylor.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: That is that would we consider that an Easter egg in our podcast?
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: What if we did too blatant?
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: What if we did like it's a love story, baby just said yes?
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Instead of you know the song say yes, yes.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, I like it.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: Baby just said yes, or that's the caption, baby yeah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: No, that's what I meant.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: That's what I meant.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Just it, but just the caption, like that's it, that's all it says.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: That would that could that could work too.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Well, Taylor, we hope you're listening, and you are welcome for these tips ahead of time.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: So there's that.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: Nikki, do you have a K pop for me, or was the Swiftiness the K-pop of the week?
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, we we mentioned this um before heading in to this recording about, you know, does it live on slander and sleigh?
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: And I think it does.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Um Brooks Nader, yes, possible popular, popular personality, family's popular.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: Do you what did she become famous for originally?
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: I know I was about to ask you the same question.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: I have absolutely no idea.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: She's been on, I believe she's been on Dancing with the Stars, right?
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, and now I'm worried about it.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: I some some influencers I just I choose not to, uh, okay.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: Rokes Nader.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Anyways, why I know she's famous is she's a model television personality.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: She's beautiful.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Um, Brooke Snater, I think what Nikki was going to say, and we'll discuss when we get back, was on a yacht.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're back.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: I was just about to explain why I said something.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: I thought to Brooks Snader was on a yacht, and I said Nikki was about to explain and will when she comes back, but now yes, go for it.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: On a yacht vacation, okay.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: And I know who Brooke, we know who Brooke Snader is.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: She's a no, I know who she is.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: I just wasn't sure exactly who she's a big thing.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: Model personality.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: No, because I was I was doubting my like uh anyways.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Don't want to don't want to get wrong.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: She's beautiful, stunning, great.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: The Nader sisters are so fun to consume all their content.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: But we've been given a lot of glimpses into their family life, and they know how to play it up.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: But recently, photos content surfaced of her on a yacht vacation, family vacation with her dad, and she was posted, she was topless.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: I I don't know, Tracy, if I could ever say if I could even say the word breasts around my dad.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: I I just feel like for me, it wouldn't be my journey, but I'm not Brooknator.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: Brooks, is it Brooks or Brooks?
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: Brooks.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: Brooks.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Well, look how this is how much I know.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, Walter, Walter's Walter, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, there we got that down.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Um, I though generally I'm probably not going topless on a boat.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm also okay.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm gonna prepare not going on a boat because I get terribly seasick.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: So right off the bat, I am out on this on this party.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: But it does feel I don't know, I don't want to use like a word that makes it feel judgmental because if it works for her, great.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: I what I can say is it wouldn't work for me.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: I think that's the best way I can say it.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: I think to um what's crazy is just the discourse online.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Well, I think a lot of people online find it weird.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: I find it weird.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: No, I think I think a lot of people online do find it weird, and this is part of this is part of the trade-off.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: Like when you are a very big celebrity, you are when you're in the public eye, and also there's a chance, and this again, not a criticism, but there is a chance this was done purposely to create conversation because it's created conversation going back to our earlier all PR is good PR.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: And this isn't necessarily bad PR, it's just that people find it unusual or weird, but you know, there is a chance this was a calculated move and a smart one because everybody is talking about it.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: But part of being in the public eye is if you do something people don't agree with, people get to talk about it and say that it's weird.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: And I would say it's a little bit weird.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: It's weird, it's weird.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: We can say it.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: I think I think that we're aligned.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: I think we are, and it it does fit in slander and slay.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is a this is a slander and slay moment.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, good.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: I was like, you know, I was like, we we had been discussing it, and I was like, I think that's a little bit of the the internet hole I've been in this week.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: It's just like, wait, what?
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, I definitely when I saw I was like, wait, what's going on?
- 36:25SPEAKER_00: Well, when I first saw the photo, I was like, who's that man?
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: And then I said it was her dad.
