- 0:00Aloha. Wednesday morning in Hawaiʻi. I'm Mele with what's happening today across the islands.
- 1:22Light winds and scattered showers through Friday, mainly over the mountains and interior areas in the afternoons. Lowland areas should stay dry. Daytime sea breezes will dominate through tomorrow—perfect for leeward snorkeling and beach time, especially in the mornings. Trade winds return by the weekend.
- 1:37Surf is climbing on south-facing shores—Waikiki at 4.4 feet, moderate with shore break and rip currents to watch. North shore is moderate too at 4 feet. Maui and the Big Island are staying small and calm. Kauaʻi's at 3.4 feet, still comfortable for swimmers.
- 1:50Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park has several closures in place—Kahuku Unit Roads, Kīpukapuaulu Trail due to hazardous trees, and the Lava Tube Bridge under replacement. The park is at advisory level. Most other parks are operating normally.
- 2:02If you're planning a trip in the fall, our new piece on the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival breaks down HIFF's October dates in Honolulu—when to come, where to stay, how to plan around it. It's the Pacific's longest-running film festival, and October is when to catch it if festivals matter to you.
- 2:17Wednesday stays light and dry on the coasts, Thursday the south swell peaks—possible High Surf Advisory—then normal trades come back by the weekend.
- 2:25If you're heading to the south shore the next couple of days, our Oʻahu Essential guide has what you need. Talk to you tomorrow.
