- 0:07To Have Faith, Let It Begin. This is Ariel Santana.
- 0:11Can you believe I'm seven years old already? I'm old enough now to introduce my dad.
- 0:16Ladies and gentlemen, your host, my dad, Angel Santana.
- 0:56Hello, everyone. Happy Friday. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's blooper with Noah.
- 1:00And as you can see, we've added him to the introduction.
- 1:02Yeah, that's Noah in the very beginning. Welcome to Have Faith,
- 1:05Let It Begin. This is Angel Santana. Today, we wrap up our series on patience.
- 1:09And honestly, this may be the hardest episode of the entire week,
- 1:13because today we are talking about patience in everyday life.
- 1:19Not the big spiritual moments, not the major life crisis.
- 1:23Talking about the small things that slowly test, slowly test us every single day.
- 1:29Traffic, long lines, slow internet, difficult co-workers, people cutting us
- 1:36off, misunderstandings, family tension.
- 1:40Social media arguments. Oh yeah.
- 1:44Those everyday moments where frustration shows up before we even realize it.
- 1:50And if we're going to be truthful with each other today, as early as it is,
- 1:55sometimes our patience disappears faster than free pizza at a church event.
- 2:00So today, let's talk about learning how to slow down emotionally and respond
- 2:06with grace instead of reaction.
- 2:09You know, one thing I've learned is that patience usually gets tested when life doesn't go our way.
- 2:16Think about it. Most frustrations start when something interrupts our expectations.
- 2:23You plan for a quick trip to the store. Now the line is 20 people long.
- 2:29You plan for a peaceful moment, a peaceful morning.
- 2:32Now everything is going wrong before 8 a.m. You plan for kindness.
- 2:37Then somebody responds with an attitude, and suddenly our emotions start rising.
- 2:43Now listen, I'm not standing here pretending I've mastered patience.
- 2:48There are days I'm driving early in the morning, and somebody cuts me off,
- 2:53and immediately I start having a full conversation with them through the windshield.
- 2:57Yep, they can't hear me, but I feel better.
- 3:00And then five minutes later, God humbles me real quick because patience is something
- 3:06we consistently have to practice.
- 3:09And I think one of the biggest lessons in life is learning this.
- 3:14You cannot control everybody else, but you can control your response.
- 3:20That changes everything because reacting emotionally usually makes situations
- 3:25worse. But patience protects peace.
- 3:28Patience gives clarity. Patience allows wisdom to enter the conversation before anger takes over.
- 3:36And let's reflect on this. We've had all week, right?
- 3:40Honestly, patience is not weakness. Some people think patience or patient people
- 3:45are passive people. That's not true.
- 3:48Patience is emotional strength under control. That's what I read.
- 3:53It's choosing not to explode, choosing not to overreact, choosing not to let
- 3:59temporary frustration steal permanent peace.
- 4:02I love that. I'm going to say that again because I did steal that.
- 4:05Choosing not to let temporary frustrations steal permanent peace. Isn't that cool?
- 4:11And sometimes patience simply means pausing before speaking.
- 4:15Taking a breath. Pain first.
- 4:19Well, not pain. I guess I meant to say praying.
- 4:23Yeah, praying first. I don't know why I said pain. Maybe because I have to pay
- 4:26a bill today. I don't know. Praying first, thinking clearly.
- 4:30Because words spoken in anger can leave damage along after the moment passes, right?
- 4:37I mean, think about it. You speak those words, you get angry,
- 4:41and that can leave damage along after that moment passes.
- 4:45Boy, can I remember a couple of memories there. Okay, sorry.
- 4:47I'm all over the place this morning. It's got me thinking.
- 4:50You know, now that I think about it, I think many of us are carrying stress
- 4:55when, let's see, stress we never slow down enough to release.
- 5:01Wouldn't you agree with me? Yeah.
- 5:02And we rush through life, rush through conversations, rush through responsibilities.
- 5:10Rush through podcasts, you know, I mean, eventually the pressure builds up.
- 5:14So maybe I should slow down. Maybe today's reminder is simple.
- 5:17Yeah, I'll slow down. I mean, not everything requires an immediate reaction, right?
- 5:23I mean, not everything, not every disagreement needs response.
- 5:27Not every inconvenience deserves your peace. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 5:33So how do we close out the week? Let me think about this.
- 5:36I guess today we think about everything we've talked about. As we end this week
- 5:40together, I would say let's encourage each other.
- 5:45Give yourself permission to slow down.
- 5:47Lead with grace. Respond with wisdom. Choose peace when possible.
- 5:54And remember, patience is not about being perfect.
- 5:58It's about growing little by little every single day.
- 6:02Hmm. I should take my own advice. Let's pray. Heavenly Father,
- 6:05help us develop patience in our everyday lives.
- 6:08Teach us to respond with kindness instead of anger, wisdom instead of impulse,
- 6:14and peace instead of frustration.
- 6:16Slow our hearts, calm our minds, and help us become reflections of your grace.
- 6:24In the way that we treat each other, treat others.
- 6:28We pray this unto you. In Jesus' name we pray, amen. Listen,
- 6:33thank you for joining us this week for our Patience Series.
