- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly
- 0:05Speaker 1: made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show.
- 0:13Speaker 3: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day you
- 0:18Speaker 3: mad bastards. Great to have your company on this blustery
- 0:21Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. It is the 27th of October, 2026. And you,
- 0:25Speaker 3: my friends, as always, listening to the Big Show brought
- 0:28Speaker 3: to you by Reburger.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 0:33Speaker 4: away Reburger today.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Mmm, yummy. Yeah, good stuff.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Speaking of yummy.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Jeez, Louise. What a treat my job is. Every day
- 0:45Speaker 3: I get to come into work and stare across the
- 0:48Speaker 3: desk at the stallion opposite me. G'day, Mogi. How's life?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:54Speaker 2: a bee. What a weekend.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 0:56Speaker 2: What a weekend it was. Three days off. What a treat.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Beautiful bloody weather. And now we've got a short week.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yeah. Treat. Real treats.
- 1:06Speaker 2: How are you going, Keith? I notice that you're wearing
- 1:07Speaker 2: a long-sleeved white jumper, I guess you would call it.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Is that a brand spanker? Because I think I can
- 1:14Speaker 2: see a crease line running up the arms.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I certainly can.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Moggy, this is a brand new long-sleeved T-shirt, it's called.
- 1:22Speaker 2: It's funny. Is that a T-shirt? It's funny. I never
- 1:24Speaker 2: think of the long sleeves. It's been a T-shirt, but
- 1:26Speaker 2: there you go.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I have never seen a whiter T-shirt in my life.
- 1:32Speaker 3: It is immaculate, Kesey. You look great, man.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I pulled the tags off it this morning, fellas.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:39Speaker 2: So you're not somebody that would run it through the
- 1:41Speaker 2: wash first before the wear? No, I don't think so.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I tend to agree with you.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know why. Like if I bought, for example,
- 1:49Speaker 4: while I was in Japan, I bought a mug. Had
- 1:51Speaker 4: little sumo wrestlers on it. I washed that before drinking
- 1:55Speaker 4: out of it.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:55Speaker 4: But I don't mind putting factory chemicals on my skin.
- 1:58Speaker 3: You don't find it irritates your nipples?
- 2:01Speaker 2: No, not yet.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:02Speaker 4: What, just wearing a T-shirt?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Well, no, one that is brand new and you haven't washed.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Nah. My nipples are pretty hard. Robust.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Pretty dead.
- 2:10Speaker 4: It's going to take a lot to... I didn't say dead.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Dead nipples.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I said hardy. I guess you'd say dead.
- 2:17Speaker 5: No.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Jase.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 2:20Speaker 4: How are you? How are you today, man?
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm okay, fellas. I've got really itchy ears at
- 2:26Speaker 3: the moment.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Oh, you know what that'll be?
- 2:28Speaker 3: What's that?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Oh, what is that? They call it the shingles.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, probably, man. Probably. You know, God. I tell
- 2:36Speaker 3: you what, though. I'm fired up about this show because
- 2:39Speaker 3: it's going to be a doozy. What's happening on The
- 2:43Speaker 3: Big Show?
- 2:46Speaker 2: I keep forgetting about our new stick.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And there it is. It's bloody brilliant. Another opportunity today
- 2:51Speaker 2: to get involved in the ITM trade-off. You give us
- 2:53Speaker 2: a ring when you hear the cue to call on
- 2:55Speaker 2: 0800 Hauraki. And you've got an opportunity then to trade
- 2:59Speaker 2: in your old shitty tool for a brand spanking legendary one. Yes. Yesterday, fellas,
- 3:05Speaker 2: or over the weekend at least, I went for a
- 3:06Speaker 2: family walk. A family walk.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah, what's going on? I saw that. I was like,
- 3:11Speaker 3: what's happening to old Moogie?
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't do that. I don't do that, and I'll
- 3:15Speaker 2: tell you how I found it. I was coerced by
- 3:17Speaker 2: my wife. And coming up next, Jase has been into
- 3:21Speaker 2: an absolute scrap down under the bridge going for a
- 3:24Speaker 2: bit of fishing there, Jase.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You always manage to find some trouble, man. You're a ne'er-do-well,
- 3:29Speaker 2: aren't you?
- 3:29Speaker 3: I do seem to find trouble all the time, and
- 3:32Speaker 3: I don't know what it is about me, but, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 3: c'est la vie. In the meantime, let's kick off with
- 3:37Speaker 3: a bit of puddle of mud.
- 3:39Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Alison Chains here on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 3:46Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 13 minutes past 4 o'clock. Hopefully,
- 3:50Speaker 3: to all the listeners out there, you had a fantastic
- 3:52Speaker 3: long weekend. How good three days, eh, boys?
- 3:54Speaker 2: Oh! So good.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Now, as I was saying on the, I think it
- 3:57Speaker 3: was on a Friday, I'm going to get back to
- 3:59Speaker 3: my fishing over the weekend, which I duly did, and
- 4:02Speaker 3: I did a very unusual thing, which is.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Catch one.
- 4:05Speaker 3: No.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Oh, my God. Well done.
- 4:06Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I failed it!
- 4:10Speaker 3: I actually did a bit of research, and I went,
- 4:12Speaker 3: you know, where's good to fish around the sort of CBD?
- 4:16Speaker 3: And there's actually quite a few joints, and I went
- 4:18Speaker 3: and checked them out and went, oh, that's not very good.
- 4:20Speaker 3: That looks pretty good. Blardy, blardy, blardy. There's one place
- 4:23Speaker 3: that I really like, but it was so populated, I went,
- 4:26Speaker 3: I can't fish there. Anyway, I decided to go and
- 4:29Speaker 3: fish under the Harbour Bridge. Now, for people that don't know,
- 4:32Speaker 3: under the Harbour Bridge– there's a path that goes along
- 4:36Speaker 3: it with a little wall and you can just fish
- 4:38Speaker 3: off the path.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Which is fantastic.
- 4:41Speaker 4: And so I said to him, It's fishing music.
- 4:45Speaker 2: You're all good.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I said to my wife on the set, Demogie, I said,
- 4:49Speaker 3: let's go and have a fish. It was about, you know,
- 4:51Speaker 3: five in the afternoon. What did she say? She said, yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 3: that sounds like a good idea. And the high tide
- 4:56Speaker 3: was about seven, so I headed down there about five-ish.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Had a really lovely evening. It was a beautiful afternoon.
- 5:04Speaker 3: It was really sunny. Chucked my line out. Got a
- 5:07Speaker 3: couple of good bites. Didn't land anything. And I went, geez,
- 5:11Speaker 3: that was fun. That was fun.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Do you chat?
- 5:14Speaker 3: My wife and I.
- 5:15Speaker 2: No, you and the fish.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Oh. No, here I go. Come on, fishy fishies. No,
- 5:21Speaker 3: my wife generally takes. We chat, but she also takes
- 5:24Speaker 3: a book with her. Right. And just chills out.
- 5:26Speaker 4: So you're standing there holding a fishing line while she's
- 5:28Speaker 4: reading in silence.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Well, no, I generally set the line in the wall there.
- 5:31Speaker 3: There's a hole you can check it out.
- 5:32Speaker 2: And there's a bunch of park benches along there as well,
- 5:34Speaker 2: haven't you, to sit.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 2: She takes one about a kilometre away.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Well, she did say I was a bit stinky.
- 5:40Speaker 3: because of the, you know, the bait there. But anyway,
- 5:42Speaker 3: so I said to her on the Sunday, I said, oh,
- 5:44Speaker 3: let's go fishing again. And she went, oh. And I said,
- 5:46Speaker 3: you don't have to come, babe, if you're not into it.
- 5:48Speaker 3: She said, no, I'm into it. So we went down again.
- 5:52Speaker 3: And so... We get to this lovely spot. I want
- 5:57Speaker 3: to set the logistics for you because it's important to
- 5:59Speaker 3: the story.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You're doing a great job.
- 6:00Speaker 3: So if I'm steering straight ahead, it's water in front
- 6:02Speaker 3: of me, right? I'm on the footpath. About 200 metres
- 6:05Speaker 3: to my right, maybe 150 metres is the Harbour Bridge.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:10Speaker 3: To my left to right is the tide. It's going
- 6:13Speaker 3: from left to right. It's quite a strong current.
- 6:15Speaker 4: So it's going out.
- 6:16Speaker 3: No, it's actually coming in, but the current's going in
- 6:18Speaker 3: that direction.
- 6:19Speaker 2: That is so fair. I'm with you.
- 6:21Speaker 3: So anyway, I chuck my line out. She's a bloody
- 6:24Speaker 3: good cast. Very nice. Set my line. About five minutes later,
- 6:29Speaker 3: this dude turns up. Big, burly bastard of a man.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And he sets up about 50 metres to my left. 50?
- 6:38Speaker 3: About 50 metres to my left. And he pulls out
- 6:41Speaker 3: the biggest surfcaster I've ever seen in my life. It
- 6:45Speaker 3: was like, I don't have a surfcaster. I have a
- 6:46Speaker 3: sort of medium-sized rod.
- 6:50Speaker 2: No, yeah, stop it.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And he had this huge surfcaster, right? So he flings
- 6:56Speaker 3: his an absolute mile. And I'm sitting on the bench
- 7:01Speaker 3: and I went, geez, that is a good cast.
- 7:04Speaker 4: And your wife's watching him going, oh, I wish my
- 7:05Speaker 4: husband could cast like that.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Well, he had a much bigger rod than me. Yeah, exactly. Anyway,
- 7:10Speaker 3: and so we're sitting there for about 10 minutes. And
- 7:14Speaker 3: then my wife goes, oh, oh, and my line was
- 7:18Speaker 3: sort of, you know, looked like it was getting bites.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I at that time was setting up another rod. So
- 7:24Speaker 3: I was setting all that up and I said, oh,
- 7:25Speaker 3: grab it, babe, grab it. And she grabbed it. Now,
- 7:28Speaker 3: it turns out this guy, 50 metres away, was winding
- 7:33Speaker 3: in his line. Right. And as he was winding in
- 7:36Speaker 3: his line, he snagged my line and got caught up
- 7:39Speaker 3: in my line. Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Pretty standard.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Pretty standard. So my wife was winding up the line
- 7:45Speaker 3: and going towards it, and... It took them about 20
- 7:48Speaker 3: seconds to sort it out, and I realised what had happened,
- 7:51Speaker 3: and so I put the rod I had down, and
- 7:52Speaker 3: I went over and grabbed the rod off her and
- 7:54Speaker 3: got the slack.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Can I just say this sounds like this. It sounds
- 7:57Speaker 2: like the moment from Lady and the Tramp where the
- 8:00Speaker 2: two dogs are eating spaghetti together, and it turns out
- 8:03Speaker 2: they're on the same piece of spaghetti, and then they
- 8:05Speaker 2: end up kissing.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:06Speaker 2: This is the vibe I'm getting.
- 8:07Speaker 4: The guy with the big rod.
- 8:09Speaker 3: That's not what happened. Anyway, so I'm winding up the rod,
- 8:13Speaker 3: and this guy goes... And he was just bristling with aggro.
- 8:17Speaker 3: And he said, you shouldn't be allowed down here if
- 8:19Speaker 3: you don't know how to effing fish. And I went,
- 8:24Speaker 3: what are you talking about, mate? And he goes, you
- 8:27Speaker 3: can't even effing cast straight.
- 8:30Speaker 2: He's done you there. Oh, wow.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Had you cast crooked?
- 8:33Speaker 3: Now, two points, fellas. Two points. Firstly, he didn't even
- 8:37Speaker 3: see me cast because I'd already had my ride out
- 8:39Speaker 3: before he arrived. Yeah. Okay, so I didn't even see that.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And I said, actually, mate, I'm pretty good at casting.
- 8:45Speaker 3: And so he just stood there. So I go back
- 8:48Speaker 3: to my spot. I put a bit of bait on.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I look over at him, and he's got his hands
- 8:52Speaker 3: on his waist, just staring at me with a smirk
- 8:55Speaker 3: on his face. And so I cast, and it's an
- 8:58Speaker 3: absolute doozy. Really?
- 9:00Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I'm a good caster. Straight as an arrow, straight out.
- 9:05Speaker 4: It's just bringing the fish in that time.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well, it's actually catching the fish. And then I
- 9:11Speaker 3: look to this guy, and he's doing this sarcastic clap.
- 9:14Speaker 3: At me.
- 9:16Speaker 4: And he's massive, right?
- 9:17Speaker 3: He's a big unit.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He's doing it.
- 9:20Speaker 3: He's a big unit. So I just go, oh, fuck.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And I put my rod in this little holder there
- 9:25Speaker 3: on the wall, and I just sit there. And this
- 9:27Speaker 3: guy is puffing out his chest the whole time.
- 9:30Speaker 2: How old are we talking here?
- 9:31Speaker 3: He probably would have been maybe late 30s.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Sure.
- 9:35Speaker 3: He's puffing out his chest. And he's on the footpath,
- 9:40Speaker 3: but he's walking back and forth on the footpath, just
- 9:44Speaker 3: staunching me out, staring at me.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Just staring at me.
- 9:48Speaker 4: And you didn't take that, right? You went up and
- 9:49Speaker 4: you were like, hey, mate.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I just suddenly felt so exhausted by it.
- 9:53Speaker 4: That is punishing.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I'm not going to get into it. He was bristling
- 9:57Speaker 3: for a confrontation, and I just didn't want to do it.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So I just stayed there for about 20 minutes and
- 10:03Speaker 3: then ended up leaving because he was just such a dickhead.
- 10:06Speaker 4: I hate that stuff, man. It sucks because it's not enjoyable.
- 10:09Speaker 2: No.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And he's just trying to, you know, because he would
- 10:12Speaker 3: have knocked me out in five seconds, let's be very clear. 100%.
- 10:15Speaker 3: And he was such a deer brain. I couldn't have
- 10:16Speaker 3: had an argument with him. So I was just sitting
- 10:18Speaker 3: there going, okay, good.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not good, is it? Did you ask your
- 10:22Speaker 2: wife to go and have a word with him?
- 10:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I did, and they got on really well, actually.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Yeah, they met up for coffee afterwards. If anyone can
- 10:28Speaker 4: think of anything cool or tough that Jase should have
- 10:31Speaker 4: said to that guy to staunch him out, text us 3483,
- 10:33Speaker 4: get yourself 50 bucks with a reboot.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm picturing him standing behind you like a father would
- 10:38Speaker 2: for a son and helping you cast.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I'm picturing him putting Jase on a hook and using
- 10:43Speaker 4: him as bait.
- 10:46Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 10:49Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Brains Ferdinand there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 10:56Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.28 and I was just
- 10:58Speaker 3: talking about the fact that I got back into the
- 11:00Speaker 3: fishing over the weekend and then on one of the
- 11:03Speaker 3: nights I went fishing I got totally staunched out by
- 11:05Speaker 3: a dude. Yeah. Who basically accused me of being incapable
- 11:09Speaker 3: of fishing and that I shouldn't be down there fishing.
- 11:12Speaker 3: and then basically staunched me out for the rest of
- 11:14Speaker 3: the time I sat there.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Somewhat emasculating because your wife was prison.
- 11:17Speaker 3: She was, yes.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So it's always worse when you're getting done
- 11:21Speaker 2: by a guy who's staunching you out, he's putting the
- 11:25Speaker 2: shoulders up, the arms go out.
- 11:27Speaker 3: He's got the swagger. He's got the swagger. He's pacing
- 11:29Speaker 3: back and forth on the footpath, steering me out. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 4: And so in that situation, right, and I mean, obviously, Mogi,
- 11:37Speaker 4: we weren't there.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:38Speaker 4: But I like to think, so if I was down
- 11:40Speaker 4: there and it was my wife and I, and my
- 11:43Speaker 4: wife was using my line and accidentally got it tangled
- 11:45Speaker 4: up in the line of this massive dude. So that's
- 11:47Speaker 4: what happened, right? No. Was it?
- 11:50Speaker 3: No, no.
- 11:50Speaker 4: He tangled you up.
- 11:52Speaker 3: He reeled his line and got caught in my line.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Yeah, right. Okay.
- 11:55Speaker 3: My wife was, yeah. She had nothing to do with it.
- 11:58Speaker 3: It had nothing to do with her, Kesey.
- 12:05Speaker 4: So what I would do is I'd probably reel the
- 12:08Speaker 4: line in, to be honest, because you're not going to
- 12:10Speaker 4: sit there and fish while this dude's being an asshole.
- 12:13Speaker 3: No.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So you reel the line in, you put it away,
- 12:15Speaker 4: and then you walk over and you bloody stove his
- 12:18Speaker 4: head in, man.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Did that cross your mind? Did that cross your mind?
- 12:23Speaker 2: That's what Keezy would do.
- 12:23Speaker 4: That's what I'd do.
- 12:24Speaker 2: My wife's there.
- 12:25Speaker 4: She's watching this.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Can I just remind you guys, this guy was at
- 12:28Speaker 3: least 5'8. Yeah. He was built like a brick shithouse.
- 12:32Speaker 4: So he's towering over you.
- 12:33Speaker 3: He's towering over me. Yeah. And as I say, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 3: you get into those– I'm good at reading people. This
- 12:42Speaker 3: guy was bristling for a fight.
- 12:43Speaker 2: He was. I hope so.
- 12:45Speaker 3: He wanted a confrontation.
- 12:47Speaker 4: But I would have walked up to him and said, oh,
- 12:49Speaker 4: you're here to catch the fist, but you're about to
- 12:50Speaker 4: catch these hands, brother. Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And then just to do's, to do's, to do's.
- 12:54Speaker 4: To do's, to do's, to do's. And then I try
- 12:56Speaker 4: to get a few hits in. And then one of
- 12:58Speaker 4: us ends up in the water.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Right, okay. That's not bad. That's not bad.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Because the trouble is, of course, is you're in a
- 13:04Speaker 2: situation where you've been bent over and absolutely done by
- 13:07Speaker 2: this dude in front of your missus.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That's the sort of, so that's, on the one hand,
- 13:12Speaker 2: you've got that.
- 13:13Speaker 4: So she's in a cuck chair, just sort of off
- 13:15Speaker 4: to the side.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Just watching you get absolutely done.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Just watching this giant dude absolutely, you know.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Just do me. Yeah, yeah, totes, totes.
- 13:21Speaker 2: So it's like, what are you doing? Now, that's good stuff. Now,
- 13:25Speaker 2: what's an alternative to that, I guess, is your question. Now,
- 13:28Speaker 2: my wife's always said to me that she doesn't want
- 13:31Speaker 2: me stoving anybody's head in, as you put it, Keezy. No, yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 2: that's pretty full on. Just because there's some kind of
- 13:37Speaker 2: a confrontation. The only reason that she would want me
- 13:39Speaker 2: to actually get violent would be because her safety was
- 13:44Speaker 2: at risk. Otherwise, she wants me to be the bigger
- 13:46Speaker 2: man and walk away.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Unfortunately, I can't help myself. I'm the kind of guy
- 13:53Speaker 2: that's just, you know, Da-doos?
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Da-doos, da-doos, da-doos. And then they're on the ground and it's...
- 14:02Speaker 2: So I'm asking questions around about that. Who's the tough
- 14:07Speaker 2: guy now? Who knows how to cast straight now?
- 14:10Speaker 3: Mother effer.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Then I take his pants off. Now I wear his pants.
- 14:18Speaker 2: He's got no pants on.
- 14:20Speaker 3: This is all good stuff, fellas. This is all good stuff.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Just write that down there.
- 14:25Speaker 4: So... And then I'd probably hook up with my wife
- 14:27Speaker 4: as well, just like, you know, because it's just so like,
- 14:29Speaker 4: who's the real man.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Et cetera, et cetera.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Not even say anything, just sit down next to her.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And then everybody just, because everybody's gathered around now, all
- 14:38Speaker 2: the other fisher people, you know, the people that are
- 14:40Speaker 2: out there fishing, and they're just applauding, you know. Yeah. Mogey.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Mogey.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And then I cast again, I catch the biggest fish
- 14:48Speaker 2: everybody's ever seen.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Yeah, like a kid.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Whale on the fish. How do you like me now?
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you like that fish? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Actually, can we... Hey, Pugs, can I
- 15:04Speaker 3: get a copy of this, please? Because I'll just play
- 15:06Speaker 3: it back later on just to....
- 15:09Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Let's see who's winning an ITM Toolbox trade-off from the
- 15:20Speaker 1: big show on Radio Hauraki.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yes, indeed.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Will you trade one of your tools for one of ours?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Isn't that right, fellas?
- 15:27Speaker 4: Certainly is, Jase. ITM's Toolbox top-up sales on right now on...
- 15:32Speaker 4: They have all the best brands, massive deals, and it
- 15:35Speaker 4: runs from October through November as well, eh, Jase?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good stuff. I tell you what, the amount
- 15:42Speaker 3: of people that are stopping me on the street and
- 15:44Speaker 3: saying that bloody ITM bloody competition you've got at the
- 15:47Speaker 3: moment is fantastic.
- 15:49Speaker 4: It certainly is, Jase.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I hope I get chosen when I call up.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The way it works, you listen out
- 15:55Speaker 4: for the cue to call, you call us up, On
- 15:58Speaker 4: 0800 HODAK, you tell us what tool you've got, and
- 16:00Speaker 4: then we'll trade it.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff, man. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Kyle,
- 16:05Speaker 3: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yeah, good, fellas. How are we?
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, good, thanks, mate.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Good, good, good, good.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Good long weekend there, Kyle.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, just came back down from Auckland, actually. Oh, how nice.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Beautiful, mate. And tell me, Kyle, you massive backbone, what
- 16:20Speaker 3: do you do for a crust?
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm a dairy farmer.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Oh, man. You need your tools as a dairy farmer,
- 16:27Speaker 3: don't you?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Definitely, especially when the bulls are breaking out.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Oh, hell yeah. Don't even get me started.
- 16:32Speaker 3: My bulls are always breaking out.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Old Hoity J there with some filth.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Hey, Kyle, what tool do you want to trade, mate?
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I'm looking at, I just need an impact driver, but
- 16:45Speaker 4: really my whole kit, I was.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Zito, so it's not any good. Yeah, right.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear you.
- 16:50Speaker 4: But you need an impact driver.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, mostly.
- 16:52Speaker 3: What do you got there, Keezy? Come on, Keezy, man.
- 16:56Speaker 4: It's not me making the decision, fellas. Keezy's reaching into
- 16:58Speaker 4: his sack.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Come on, Keezy.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Let me just.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Reach around here into the ITM trade-off sack and just
- 17:05Speaker 4: see what I can pull out. All right, Kyle from
- 17:08Speaker 4: Hamilton Dairy Farmer who wants an impact driver. I don't
- 17:12Speaker 4: have an impact driver for you, mate. But what I'll
- 17:15Speaker 4: do is I'll take your tools and I'll trade them
- 17:17Speaker 4: for a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 8-piece power pack worth $ 2, 599
- 17:21Speaker 4: plus GST.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Oh, you.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Bloody ripper. Cheers, boys.
- 17:27Speaker 4: No, no worries. Just so you know, Kyle, it includes
- 17:30Speaker 4: a hammer drill, an impact driver, which is what you want,
- 17:33Speaker 4: an angle grinder, a multi-tool, a circular saw, a reciprocating saw,
- 17:37Speaker 4: a compact blower, a wet-dry vacuum, batteries, charger, and a
- 17:40Speaker 4: carry bag.
- 17:41Speaker 2: You absolute legends. Thank you, boys. That's how we do it, man,
- 17:45Speaker 2: and we're doing it all week long. Stay tuned, Kyle.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Totally, mate.
- 17:49Speaker 3: He's just got to make you Tuesday, Kyle.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, man. Wait until tomorrow morning when you go
- 17:56Speaker 2: out to do the milking and you tell the cows
- 17:58Speaker 2: about this one. Those bitches are going to be gobsmacked. Absolutely.
- 18:03Speaker 4: You're going to be the coolest guy on the farm, Kyle.
- 18:05Speaker 4: All right, you hold the line and I'll plug some.
- 18:07Speaker 4: We'll sort you out, all right?
- 18:09Speaker 2: Cheers, fellas.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Good on you, mate. How much was that worth again, Keezy?
- 18:12Speaker 2: $ 2, 599.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Plus GST.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's plus GST. Far out. Far out.
- 18:14Speaker 4: That's a hell of a price. That is a hell
- 18:19Speaker 4: of a price. And the other thing, too, is Kyle
- 18:22Speaker 4: is also, by calling through, he's also in the draw
- 18:24Speaker 4: for $ 500 cash.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Which we do on the Friday.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Do on the Friday. Is that plus GST?
- 18:29Speaker 4: The $ 500? No. But it is. Withholding tax has been
- 18:33Speaker 4: taken off.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Oh, good. Perfect.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Just so good. So make sure you stay tuned every
- 18:37Speaker 3: day because we'll be doing it every day this week,
- 18:39Speaker 3: by the way.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Certainly will be, Jase. Don't forget to head to your
- 18:42Speaker 4: local ITM for their toolbox top-up sale, which is on
- 18:45Speaker 4: now and runs right through October and November. Heaps of
- 18:49Speaker 4: discounts on the biggest brands around.
- 18:52Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 18:56Speaker 3: He's indeed Velvet Revolver there on the Radio Hodaki Big
- 19:00Speaker 3: Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.53. Let's talk TV.
- 19:06Speaker 3: What's on the Telly with Mike Minogue.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Yeah! That's right. Fellas, I've been pretty poor in this regard.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I'm just continuing to watch things that I've been watching regardless,
- 19:21Speaker 2: which is Alone on TVNZ +, which is a whole
- 19:24Speaker 2: bunch of people get thrown together in the wilderness somewhere
- 19:26Speaker 2: in the world and have to stay there. Longest person
- 19:28Speaker 2: to stay there wins money. East of Eden, which was
- 19:32Speaker 2: shot in New Zealand. It was bloody brilliant, but I
- 19:34Speaker 2: haven't finished that yet.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Oh, you haven't finished it?
- 19:36Speaker 2: No, I still haven't finished it. Well, I haven't been
- 19:38Speaker 2: watching anything. I can't even remember what happened over the weekend.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I was sure I watched stuff. But the problem I've
- 19:42Speaker 2: got is that my wife has already watched it.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 2: So when we go, what are we going to watch?
- 19:48Speaker 2: She doesn't want to watch that.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Fair do you sort of think tough.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Titties well i think that's what it's going to have
- 19:53Speaker 2: to be yeah tough titties.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah i'm watching it and then the.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Other thing i was watching was last night uh slow
- 19:59Speaker 2: horses oh yeah uh but last night um i went
- 20:02Speaker 2: to bed and uh couldn't finish off the episode Because
- 20:07Speaker 2: my daughter was getting up and down, so I got
- 20:09Speaker 2: interrupted from bed. So I got interrupted about 900 times.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I was like, bugger it, I'm going to bed.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, good call. My wife and I started
- 20:18Speaker 3: watching a show called Under Salt Marsh.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Starring Kelly Riley and Rafe Spall. And Rafe Spall, of course,
- 20:29Speaker 3: the son of the great actor Timothy Spall. I'm a
- 20:33Speaker 3: big fan of Rafe Spall. I think he's a very
- 20:35Speaker 3: good actor. And it's a moody little bastard. It was
- 20:37Speaker 3: one of those shows, and it's on TVNZ Plus, that
- 20:41Speaker 3: my wife and I went, have we seen this? I
- 20:43Speaker 3: feel like we've seen this.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:45Speaker 3: But then we went, oh, well, let's have a look
- 20:46Speaker 3: and see if we remember it. We put it on.
- 20:48Speaker 3: We were like, no, we haven't seen this. And it's
- 20:50Speaker 3: actually really good. It's a very moody, moody drama series
- 20:56Speaker 3: set in Wales. A detective-turned-teacher investigates a shocking crime in
- 21:01Speaker 3: her small town as a massive storm approaches. She must
- 21:05Speaker 3: work with her estranged ex-partner to solve the case before
- 21:09Speaker 3: evidence disappears. Oh, yes, because of the rain. Two murders.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Which they felt were unconnected, right?
- 21:18Speaker 4: Or were they?
- 21:19Speaker 3: And the first murder happened, you know, a few years
- 21:22Speaker 3: previous to the current murder. And they didn't want to
- 21:26Speaker 3: sort of draw them together because they didn't have the
- 21:28Speaker 3: evidence to draw them together. But the first investigation was
- 21:32Speaker 3: actually one of the detective's sisters' murder. And they botched it,
- 21:36Speaker 3: and they never found out what happened.
- 21:37Speaker 2: It happens all the time.
- 21:38Speaker 3: And so the guy that Rafe Spall plays, the detective ball,
- 21:42Speaker 3: he's called, comes back to do it, and all the
- 21:44Speaker 3: locals hate him because they're like, you didn't solve this
- 21:47Speaker 3: last mystery, so why would you come back? Because we
- 21:49Speaker 3: hate you. But it's actually a very good drama. It's
- 21:53Speaker 3: very moody, shot in Wales, I believe, in this most
- 21:55Speaker 3: amazing landscape. I'm enjoying it. I'll give it 3.5 buzzies
- 21:59Speaker 3: out of 5.
- 22:00Speaker 2: High praise from Woody J. Yes.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Moody buzzies or regular?
- 22:04Speaker 3: Moody.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Over the weekend, we carried on watching the Traders UK,
- 22:08Speaker 4: Celebrity Traders UK.
- 22:09Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Nowhere near as good as last season. But it's still
- 22:12Speaker 4: entertaining on 3 now. But I also watched an episode
- 22:16Speaker 4: of a TV show. You guys probably heard of it,
- 22:18Speaker 4: Country Calendar.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:21Speaker 4: It's on TVNZ +. It's about a young feller up
- 22:24Speaker 4: in Whangarei there who goes out every morning fishing on
- 22:26Speaker 4: his own.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Oh, that's great.
- 22:27Speaker 4: On a small dinghy. um and you know pulls in
- 22:31Speaker 4: his fish there and then takes it to the market
- 22:33Speaker 4: and then the guy gives him a price for it
- 22:34Speaker 4: and you know just talking about how it's a sunset
- 22:37Speaker 4: industry like solo fisher people on their own yes little
- 22:41Speaker 4: boat heading out there because they love to fish yeah
- 22:43Speaker 4: and unfortunately um it's just not a viable you know
- 22:48Speaker 4: sort of future way to make money how.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Much coin was he making koozie Did they say?
- 22:53Speaker 4: He was saying, you know, some days he'd come in
- 22:55Speaker 4: with nothing and other days he's got a week's wages. Yeah.
- 22:59Speaker 4: You know, I wouldn't say be earning a lot, but
- 23:00Speaker 4: I tell you what.
- 23:01Speaker 3: That's fishing.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Being out there on the water.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Has he ever had another boat sort of come along
- 23:09Speaker 2: and park up next to him and just absolutely do him?
- 23:12Speaker 4: He had staunched him out massively.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, in front of his missus?
- 23:14Speaker 4: Yeah, there was a... It did actually happen to him,
- 23:18Speaker 4: and he just walked over to the guy and stabbed
- 23:19Speaker 4: his head in.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Far out.
- 23:22Speaker 4: And then reeled in a massive fish and then beat
- 23:23Speaker 4: that fish up as well. Four buzzies out of five.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Great watch.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, great stuff. Hey, plenty coming up after 5 o'clock,
- 23:30Speaker 3: including Keezy's got a bit of a dilemma. We're going
- 23:33Speaker 3: to be speaking to Joseph Drury, who is in charge
- 23:37Speaker 3: of the ACC social media, because Keezy's a bit upset.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Well, I'm not upset. He's absolutely done me on something. Also,
- 23:45Speaker 4: your chance to win a double pass to go and
- 23:48Speaker 4: see the Black Caps taking on India, the big T20
- 23:50Speaker 4: this Friday.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Oh, how good. We're going to be there, aren't we?
- 23:52Speaker 2: We are?
- 23:53Speaker 1: We are. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Tuesday afternoon.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You are, in fact, listening to The Big Show brought
- 24:08Speaker 3: to you by Reburger.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Beef, chicken, vegan, vegetarian options available. Reburger, redefining the norm.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Reburger.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Ho, ho, ho.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Scary.
- 24:21Speaker 3: It was spooky, wasn't it?
- 24:23Speaker 4: Halloween's coming up, fellas.
- 24:24Speaker 3: When is Halloween?
- 24:25Speaker 2: Still on the 31st of October, I think.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Oh, is that?
- 24:27Speaker 4: Okay. It's this Saturday.
- 24:30Speaker 3: This Saturday?
- 24:31Speaker 2: Is that Saturday?
- 24:32Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Do you do that in your household, Mogi?
- 24:36Speaker 2: Oh, look, man, it's got nothing to do with me.
- 24:38Speaker 2: It has to do with what I do and don't do.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Kids want to do it, so that's what happens. Right, okay.
- 24:43Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. We're going to
- 24:44Speaker 2: be away this weekend, though, so that'll make it interesting.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Might get away with one there, Keezy.
- 24:49Speaker 3: That's the beauty of being in an apartment. You don't
- 24:52Speaker 3: get annoyed by pesky kids.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yeah, true.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Meddling kids?
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, meddling kids. We used to leave a sign on
- 25:00Speaker 3: our gate out west saying, beware the dog.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Sort of no liability if someone gets attacked. Yes.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Your old dog, the one that used to be terrified
- 25:12Speaker 4: of everything.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Just so that people didn't show up at our door.
- 25:16Speaker 4: Little kids.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's just annoying.
- 25:18Speaker 2: It is annoying. They knock on the door and they
- 25:20Speaker 2: ask for things.
- 25:20Speaker 3: And it's like, no.
- 25:21Speaker 2: No.
- 25:21Speaker 1: No.
- 25:22Speaker 2: No.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Do you do Halloween in your household, Keezy?
- 25:27Speaker 4: Do I do Halloween? Well, in my household, it's me
- 25:29Speaker 4: and my wife.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 4: So if we were to do Halloween.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Am I dressing up?
- 25:34Speaker 2: I think the idea would be you'd have a huge
- 25:37Speaker 2: bowl of lolos. Right. And then, you know, people would
- 25:40Speaker 2: come around and knock on your door. But it's generally
- 25:42Speaker 2: something that happens after dark. And I don't know. It's
- 25:45Speaker 2: a very treacherous area.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it is pretty full on. And also, you like
- 25:50Speaker 3: to dress up. What was it? The sexy nurse outfit.
- 25:53Speaker 3: That's right. Which would be a bit freaky for the kids,
- 25:57Speaker 3: seeing he's in a sexy nurse outfit. I would have thought.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Yeah, totally. You're right.
- 26:03Speaker 2: That's right.
- 26:03Speaker 4: I forgot about that. It's why I had to stop
- 26:05Speaker 4: doing it.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Because every year it's like, oh, what are we going
- 26:07Speaker 4: to dress up as? I was like, I'm going as
- 26:08Speaker 4: a sexy nurse.
- 26:10Speaker 3: What does your wife go as?
- 26:13Speaker 4: She goes as a sexy police officer.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Like the opposite of Officer Minogue.
- 26:20Speaker 3: So, like, you're both sort of service-oriented.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Yeah, but sexy.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Hey, now, listen, coming up, Kesey's got a
- 26:27Speaker 3: bit of a worry. Do I? Funnily enough, his wife
- 26:31Speaker 3: rang me in tears last night. Oh, did she?
- 26:34Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune
- 26:37Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 26:40Speaker 3: The Strokes there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 26:43Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon, 13 minutes past 5 o'clock. And... Oh, Keezy.
- 26:48Speaker 3: He's got a bit of a dilemma at the moment.
- 26:49Speaker 3: And I want you to know, Keezy, with whatever's going
- 26:52Speaker 3: on in your life, Mogi and I are here to help.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Thanks, man.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I do have a dilemma, fellas, because I'm leaving West
- 26:59Speaker 4: Auckland temporarily. I'm out of my house Friday. I have
- 27:02Speaker 4: to be out. And a good friend of ours has
- 27:06Speaker 4: lent us a granny flat, which we're going to move
- 27:08Speaker 4: into while we look for a new house.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Handy. That'll feel like going from... No, carry on. No, go.
- 27:13Speaker 4: No, no. So we're moving from West Auckland over to
- 27:17Speaker 4: a beautiful suburb in the North Shore of Auckland.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Devonport.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Very nice. Very nice, actually.
- 27:25Speaker 3: If I do say so myself.
- 27:26Speaker 4: It'll take some getting used to.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 3: After being out West. It's very highfalutin over there.
- 27:30Speaker 4: It is highfalutin. Now, unfortunately, I am a West Auckland bogan,
- 27:35Speaker 4: so moving my house has involved a few extra bits
- 27:38Speaker 4: and pieces, one of which is... I have to get
- 27:42Speaker 4: my 1971 motorbike, which I've only just put on the road.
- 27:47Speaker 4: It runs mint, but I'm a bit iffy on it still.
- 27:49Speaker 4: I'm not 100% convinced on it.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Why don't you just leave it behind?
- 27:52Speaker 4: Because I like it. But I've got to ride it
- 27:56Speaker 4: over to Devonport on the motorway, including over the Auckland
- 28:00Speaker 4: Harbour Bridge, and put it into the garage that I've
- 28:03Speaker 4: got there to let me store it. Now, I've ridden
- 28:05Speaker 4: this thing on the motorway about five times, just out west.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 4: You know, because it is old, and before I put
- 28:12Speaker 4: it back on the road, it hadn't been on the
- 28:13Speaker 4: road in over 30 years.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Wow.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Your dad did such a good job.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Getting that road ready. My dad had nothing to do
- 28:22Speaker 4: with it. Now, one of my dad's mates, he might
- 28:24Speaker 4: have had something to do with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Because I've never, you know.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:27Speaker 4: But we've got it up and running. It's running mint.
- 28:29Speaker 4: It's great. It's still old. I'm still just not, like,
- 28:32Speaker 4: confident in it.
- 28:33Speaker 2: What's the fear, is it? Is it that the bike's
- 28:36Speaker 2: going to break down or that you can't handle the bike?
- 28:40Speaker 2: That you can't handle it. Good question, Mogi.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I can definitely handle the hog, if you know what
- 28:45Speaker 4: I mean.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I can handle it. It's definitely breaking down. It's broken
- 28:52Speaker 4: down once before, but that was because there was a
- 28:53Speaker 4: short in the electric system and it blew a fuse.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 4: The whole thing just died, but luckily I had spare
- 28:59Speaker 4: fuses on hand. So I replaced it and it was fine.
- 29:02Speaker 4: But I'm just worried that I'm going to break down
- 29:04Speaker 4: on the Auckland Harbour Bridge and it's going to be
- 29:05Speaker 4: a spectacle.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I wasn't joking when I said your wife rang me
- 29:10Speaker 3: in tears, Keezy.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Because you've got this drive over the Harbour Bridge and
- 29:15Speaker 3: she said- Right, you don't drive a motorbike, you ride it.
- 29:16Speaker 3: The first ride over the Harbour Bridge- She said the
- 29:19Speaker 3: first time she watched you drive off.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Ride off, yeah.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Ride off on the motorbike there to go on the motorway.
- 29:26Speaker 3: She said she was just terrified. It was like watching
- 29:30Speaker 3: a toddler, you know, with the training wheels taken off.
- 29:32Speaker 3: You were wobbling all over the place. And she was
- 29:35Speaker 3: just absolutely terrified.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Beside herself.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Beside herself. herself mogi so the idea of you going
- 29:42Speaker 3: over a big bridge like that i don't know if
- 29:44Speaker 3: you've noticed she gets quite windy up there if that.
- 29:48Speaker 2: If that crosswind catches you a honker you're in a
- 29:51Speaker 2: world of mogi come on.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Man That's what I was going to say. You get
- 29:55Speaker 3: an updraft into those nostrils. I mean, we're in a
- 29:58Speaker 3: world of trouble.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Well, that's where I need your help, all right, because
- 30:02Speaker 4: I figure if you guys could help me, I need
- 30:05Speaker 4: someone sort of in front of me, maybe with the
- 30:07Speaker 4: hazard lights on, and maybe someone behind as well, like
- 30:12Speaker 4: a little convoy. We'll just go slowly over the bridge
- 30:14Speaker 4: in the innermost lane just to not hold too many
- 30:18Speaker 4: people up, and we'll just do a little convoy over
- 30:20Speaker 4: the bridge and then safely over to the house. Actually,
- 30:25Speaker 4: with you two, it could be like when the ducks
- 30:26Speaker 4: fly in a V.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Now, can I make a suggestion? That's not a bad idea.
- 30:34Speaker 3: It's not bad. You just met Mogi Rider.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 4: My hog.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Mogi can't handle my hog.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Because I, look, I can handle your hog, Keezy. I've
- 30:47Speaker 2: seen your hog. And, you know, not to put too
- 30:50Speaker 2: fine a point on it, but it's pretty sad. So
- 30:54Speaker 2: I'm happy riding that little thing over the Auckland Harbour
- 30:58Speaker 2: Bridge there. And I don't care if it breaks down.
- 31:00Speaker 2: That's the other thing. Right. Because I'll just, you know,
- 31:02Speaker 2: if it's breaking down, going over the Harbour Bridge, I'll
- 31:04Speaker 2: just bail and throw it over the side. It means
- 31:06Speaker 2: nothing to me. So I think that's probably the best
- 31:09Speaker 2: way to go.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:11Speaker 4: So you're happy to ride my hog?
- 31:12Speaker 2: I love riding it. I would love the opportunity. I mean,
- 31:14Speaker 2: it'll be humiliating, obviously, once people see me riding it.
- 31:17Speaker 4: 100%.
- 31:17Speaker 3: What about my bike?
- 31:21Speaker 2: What bike?
- 31:21Speaker 1: Ah.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Good stuff there, Peter.
- 31:28Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 31:36Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 5.25. Now listen, the Black Claps.
- 31:42Speaker 3: The Black Caps.
- 31:44Speaker 2: The Black Caps.
- 31:45Speaker 3: The Black Caps are playing India at Eden Park on Friday,
- 31:50Speaker 3: this Friday. If you want a double pass to that,
- 31:53Speaker 3: give us a call right now on 0800 HODUCKY. I
- 31:56Speaker 3: believe we're too zipped down at the moment, fellas.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we're getting flogged. Yeah, a little bit. I think
- 32:00Speaker 2: there's another game possibly on, might be tomorrow night, might
- 32:03Speaker 2: be on the Wednesday.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Yes, I think you're right.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Between now and the Friday, of course. Yeah, I haven't
- 32:09Speaker 2: managed to catch either of the games, sadly. But the
- 32:12Speaker 2: first one was a real run-scoring fest. The second one,
- 32:15Speaker 2: not so much. But both have been very close games
- 32:17Speaker 2: with an opportunity for both sides to win. Yes. But
- 32:20Speaker 2: they are the best in the world at it. They
- 32:22Speaker 2: toweled us up, didn't they, in the T20 World Cup
- 32:25Speaker 2: final a year or so ago. G Lane, of course,
- 32:27Speaker 2: travelled all the way to India to watch that final
- 32:29Speaker 2: and watch us get absolutely done. Yeah.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Well, it was always going to happen as soon as
- 32:34Speaker 3: he decided to do that. You know what I'm saying?
- 32:36Speaker 4: Absolutely. Also, fellas, we are going to be broadcasting live from.
- 32:41Speaker 4: The ground.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:42Speaker 4: To celebrate the big T20 happening at Eden Park.
- 32:45Speaker 2: That's how we celebrate it, from broadcasting live from there.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. So we're broadcasting the show before India v.
- 32:51Speaker 4: The Black Caps. That starts at 8 p.m. Friday night.
- 32:54Speaker 4: 8 p.m.? Weather's looking good, so it's a great way
- 32:57Speaker 4: to spend a Friday evening, fellas. We will be live, however,
- 33:00Speaker 4: from the brand new Coca-Cola Field Club. So this is
- 33:04Speaker 4: a brand new area. It's a new space. It's part
- 33:08Speaker 4: of a massive $ 10 million upgrade to the Lower West Stand. Wow.
- 33:12Speaker 4: It's right on the grass. You've got the best view.
- 33:14Speaker 4: You're ground level. Get that perspective right by the pitch there.
- 33:17Speaker 4: And it's accessible if you've got a GA ticket.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:20Speaker 4: So it's not like a special area that you have
- 33:22Speaker 4: to pay extra for. If you've got a GA ticket
- 33:24Speaker 4: to the game, you can go down to the old
- 33:26Speaker 4: Coca-Cola Field Club and check things out. That's where we'll be.
- 33:28Speaker 2: How good?
- 33:28Speaker 3: Yeah, totally. Do we get snacks and stuff?
- 33:30Speaker 2: No idea.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:32Speaker 4: I have no idea, Jase, but it's bloody exciting. Let's
- 33:34Speaker 4: see who wants to get their double pass.
- 33:36Speaker 3: G'day, Joe, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 33:38Speaker 2: Pretty good, dear.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Thanks, fellas. Good on you, mate. You're a bit of
- 33:42Speaker 3: a cricket fan, are you, Joe?
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'm into cricket, mate.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Love it. You love it. Yeah, nice. Do you play yourself,
- 33:48Speaker 3: can I ask, Joe?
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we play a bit of Last Man Standing. Nice. Oh, yeah.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and what do you do for a crust, mate?
- 33:55Speaker 2: I'm in the sales game there, fellas.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, good on you, mate. There's no mug. Yeah,
- 33:59Speaker 3: you're back, mate. So it's a double pass, Joe. Who
- 34:02Speaker 3: are you going to take with you?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I was saying before, I think I might take
- 34:06Speaker 2: my son if he's available. There you go.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Lovely.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Yeah, very nice, Father Sam. Come and say g'day to
- 34:12Speaker 3: us in the, what was it, Geezy?
- 34:13Speaker 4: The Coca-Cola Field Club, Joe. Accessible if you've got a
- 34:17Speaker 4: GA ticket, which you've got, man.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Oh, sounds good.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Good on you, mate. Stay on the line and I'll
- 34:21Speaker 3: put some. We'll sort you out, all right? Thanks, boys.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Good stuff, mate.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Bloody exciting. So if you are going along to the cricket,
- 34:27Speaker 4: keep that in mind. GA Pass, come down to the
- 34:29Speaker 4: Coca-Cola Field Club. We'll be broadcasting live before the game.
- 34:32Speaker 4: It's meant to be a lovely evening.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 34:34Speaker 4: T20 cricket.
- 34:34Speaker 3: My wife's going to come to that, actually. It's interesting, Mogi,
- 34:38Speaker 3: because she's never been to a big match, whether it
- 34:40Speaker 3: be rugby, league, cricket. And I said, my God, that's
- 34:44Speaker 3: pretty extraordinary. Come to this. And she said, yeah, very keen.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Really?
- 34:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow.
- 34:49Speaker 4: That's amazing.
- 34:50Speaker 3: She said, is Kesey going to be there?
- 34:51Speaker 4: What did you say?
- 34:52Speaker 3: I said, yes. She was like, oh, I'll see how
- 34:56Speaker 3: I go. Oh, really?
- 34:58Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 35:02Speaker 4: Yes, indeed.
- 35:02Speaker 3: The offspring there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 35:06Speaker 3: blustery Tuesday evening. Geez, this is a familiar face that
- 35:11Speaker 3: I haven't seen in.
- 35:11Speaker 2: A long while.
- 35:12Speaker 3: I'm talking about Joseph Durie from the ACC. Now, to
- 35:16Speaker 3: give you a bit of background about old Joe there,
- 35:19Speaker 3: he's sort of in charge of all their social media.
- 35:22Speaker 3: They call him www.web.inter.joseph.durie. G'day, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 35:32Speaker 3: Really rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? Yeah, it does.
- 35:35Speaker 4: They don't really call you that. Isn't it just Web Joe?
- 35:37Speaker 2: Web Joe.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Webmaster Joe, I believe. Webmaster, yeah.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Oh, right, that's what I mean.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Chatterbait Aficionado, I think, was the other one that they coined.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Merchant of Filth.
- 35:44Speaker 4: That's the one, yeah.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably the most accurate.
- 35:47Speaker 2: The Brothel Creeper.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Yeah, Joe, you Brothel Creeper, ha-ha.
- 35:51Speaker 3: It's been a long time since someone called me that.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:55Speaker 4: So the reason we've got Joe in is because you
- 35:57Speaker 4: run an immaculate ship for the ACC, Joe, online. Sinking ship, maybe. Yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 4: it might be sinking, but you're doing your best.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I'm trying.
- 36:05Speaker 3: You're shoving the bungs in the holes there.
- 36:07Speaker 5: I'm pushing the deck chairs around on the Titanic, as
- 36:09Speaker 5: they say.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Yes, indeed.
- 36:11Speaker 4: 100% you are, man. And the social media is hissing.
- 36:14Speaker 4: So if we look at the amount of followers the
- 36:17Speaker 4: ACC's got on Instagram, 120,000 followers.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Wow.
- 36:20Speaker 4: That is a shitload. Way more than we've got. And
- 36:23Speaker 4: it's funny because the content you guys put out is great.
- 36:27Speaker 4: And a lot of that is down to you, Joe.
- 36:29Speaker 4: So well done, first of all.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Kia kaha.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Kia kaha, man.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Sure.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Second of all, I just noticed last week, actually, a
- 36:37Speaker 4: video was uploaded. And it was, uh, black caps reacting
- 36:43Speaker 4: to the ACC playing cricket yes that's right yep great
- 36:46Speaker 4: video to a few black caps there including you know Blair, Tickner,
- 36:49Speaker 4: Ratch and Ravindra and they're watching footage of ACC members
- 36:52Speaker 4: playing cricket Jase you running between the wickets.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yeah I saw that once again that debacle re-litigated for
- 37:00Speaker 3: the millionth time it's a time of my life I'd
- 37:04Speaker 3: rather have forgotten.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Joe unfortunately for you Jase it's kind of like the
- 37:08Speaker 2: underarm incident of 1981 it's going to.
- 37:11Speaker 3: I'm never going to live it down, am I?
- 37:14Speaker 4: So, yeah, Jace running between the wickets, his pad falling off,
- 37:17Speaker 4: they're laughing. And then it cuts to, and the thing is,
- 37:20Speaker 4: I was warned that you guys were doing this content.
- 37:23Speaker 4: What I was told was that the Black Caps were
- 37:24Speaker 4: watching me try to bat for the first time. What
- 37:28Speaker 4: goes online is footage of me bowling the first ever
- 37:31Speaker 4: cricket ball I have ever bowled.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Or as Blair Tickner said, first ever cricket or sports delivery.
- 37:37Speaker 3: First ever sports delivery.
- 37:39Speaker 4: And the Blackcaps are sitting there watching it, cracking up, going, oh,
- 37:41Speaker 4: he's not the most athletic guy, is he?
- 37:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it looked really unco, I've got to be honest.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Of course it did.
- 37:45Speaker 4: It's the first I've ever bowled a cricket ball.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 4: And I obviously bowl it massively wide. It doesn't count.
- 37:51Speaker 4: They all crack up laughing and I look like a
- 37:53Speaker 4: massive Gumby. Now, that's great content. Mm-hmm. I didn't know
- 37:56Speaker 4: about this until a listener sent it to me. Yep.
- 37:58Speaker 4: And said, they've done your dirty here. I click over
- 38:00Speaker 4: to it. It's got thousands of likes. I haven't been tagged,
- 38:03Speaker 4: but all the black caps have been tagged and like
- 38:05Speaker 4: collabed on it. It's got 12 and a half thousand likes,
- 38:08Speaker 4: Joe Jerry.
- 38:09Speaker 5: I can chuck a tag on now if you want
- 38:12Speaker 5: to chuck a collab in there actually.
- 38:14Speaker 4: No, I don't want to collab. It's just if there's
- 38:17Speaker 4: footage of me looking like a huge idiot, I'd like
- 38:20Speaker 4: to at least know. You know what I mean?
- 38:22Speaker 5: I think I did give you the heads up. And
- 38:24Speaker 5: in my defense, I did not select the clips that
- 38:27Speaker 5: went into the edit.
- 38:28Speaker 4: So it's Tony Lyle's fault.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Tony Lyle was the one.
- 38:30Speaker 2: But can I say that that is a slam dunk.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I agree, Mo.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Honestly, it looks so stupid.
- 38:35Speaker 3: If we were to never post videos of you being
- 38:39Speaker 3: an idiot, Keezy, I mean, God. I mean, what are
- 38:41Speaker 3: you asking of a guy? That's an impossibility.
- 38:43Speaker 5: I think 2.3 million views.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. On that now.
- 38:48Speaker 4: The thing that got me is you'd invited the Black
- 38:50Speaker 4: Caps to collab on it, but I was like, it's
- 38:53Speaker 4: me looking like an idiot, and I didn't know about it.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Let me just change that. I can add you as
- 38:58Speaker 3: a collab now.
- 38:59Speaker 4: No, no, it's fine.
- 38:59Speaker 3: No, it's fine.
- 39:00Speaker 4: I don't want a collab. Big show, Paige?
- 39:04Speaker 3: Here's the thing, Keezy. I'm with Joe on this. I mean,
- 39:08Speaker 3: I'm used to being humiliated by the ACC. Obviously, that's
- 39:11Speaker 3: not something you're particularly familiar with. No. But when you
- 39:15Speaker 3: do something that unco, that embarrassing, of course it's going
- 39:20Speaker 3: to be plastered all over the ACC social pages.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess so. I guess the reason we brought
- 39:26Speaker 4: you in here was to say well done.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Good content.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Got them good.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Well, it's actually you guys that are the content, so
- 39:32Speaker 5: I'm just the... facilitator and the distributor.
- 39:35Speaker 3: It's actually you guys.
- 39:36Speaker 2: His page would be nothing without the likes of you, Keith.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Without you, Keith.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 39:40Speaker 3: And you, Jase, as well. Yeah, totally. Is there any
- 39:43Speaker 3: of Mogi in there? I think I did see some
- 39:45Speaker 3: of Mogi.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Well, no, there's not in this instance. However, that said,
- 39:49Speaker 2: I have had a five-ball duck when we played at
- 39:51Speaker 2: Eden Park. Yes, that's right. It wasn't even Jason Spice.
- 39:55Speaker 2: It was another former rugby player. An absolute humiliator in
- 39:59Speaker 2: front of my wife and daughter. So that was good shit.
- 40:03Speaker 2: And let me tell you, he was not bowling at
- 40:05Speaker 2: express pace.
- 40:07Speaker 1: No.
- 40:07Speaker 5: Well, the other thing with that was it was filmed
- 40:09Speaker 5: in a vertical fashion, so it didn't actually... Work for
- 40:12Speaker 5: the edit Yeah it's a real show His real one
- 40:14Speaker 5: was like TV.
- 40:15Speaker 4: It was broadcast quality Yeah yeah Well If you do
- 40:18Speaker 4: want to see it It is up on the Hoducky
- 40:20Speaker 4: Big Show's Instagram story And I just wanted to say
- 40:23Speaker 4: Yeah well done Joe Doing a great job.
- 40:25Speaker 5: There's another couple Coming as well Oh god Really?
- 40:31Speaker 4: Do you like Kings of Leon Joe?
- 40:32Speaker 3: I love Kings of Leon Oh here you go Hey
- 40:34Speaker 3: they're coming They're performing here Did you know that? Are
- 40:36Speaker 3: they playing the old stuff? Probably not Oh good question
- 40:39Speaker 3: Good question Yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:46Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope your Tuesday evening's
- 40:52Speaker 3: absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally,
- 40:56Speaker 3: brought to you by Reburgir.
- 40:57Speaker 4: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburgir.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yes, indeed.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Oh, so bummed out on Friday.
- 41:08Speaker 2: There we go.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Bummed out. I haven't heard that saying in ages.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Did you?
- 41:12Speaker 2: No joy on the Reburger front.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yes. Yes, because I was planning to go to Reburger
- 41:17Speaker 3: on Friday night.
- 41:18Speaker 2: What happened?
- 41:19Speaker 3: Oh, bloody, some mate of my wife's called up and said,
- 41:22Speaker 3: do you want to meet in town for blah, blah, blah?
- 41:24Speaker 2: You said, no, we've got plans, Reburger, et cetera, et cetera.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Well, no, she said yes on my behalf.
- 41:30Speaker 2: So a last.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Minute phone call from a friend inviting you for dinner.
- 41:36Speaker 3: My wife specifically, but. She said, do you want to come?
- 41:38Speaker 3: And I was, oh, I guess so.
- 41:40Speaker 2: So, yeah, okay.
- 41:42Speaker 4: It just seems like that's probably a dinner that was
- 41:43Speaker 4: actually locked in before the show. No, no. But you
- 41:46Speaker 4: still came on here and said you were going to
- 41:47Speaker 4: get Reburger anyway.
- 41:48Speaker 3: No, no. It wasn't pre-locked in. It was just a
- 41:52Speaker 3: spur of the moment. Sometimes, you know, like Mikey's talking
- 41:55Speaker 3: about going for a walk and stuff like that. You
- 41:57Speaker 3: just sort of go with it, Keezy.
- 41:58Speaker 1: 100%.
- 41:59Speaker 4: I like that. Like, no one my age or below
- 42:02Speaker 4: can handle things like a spontaneous, hey, calling someone up,
- 42:05Speaker 4: having to talk to them on the phone, and then go, hey,
- 42:07Speaker 4: should we go grab dinner?
- 42:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 4: I miss that shit.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Can I just say, man, you're falling for this hook, line,
- 42:12Speaker 2: and sinker.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Really?
- 42:14Speaker 2: There's absolutely no way Jase... Who's asking Jase out late
- 42:17Speaker 2: notice to go for dinner? Nobody. It's just another way
- 42:20Speaker 2: that he's getting out of actually having gone to Reburger.
- 42:24Speaker 2: It's a disgrace.
- 42:24Speaker 4: It is a disgrace.
- 42:26Speaker 2: You said.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Did you lie to me, Jase?
- 42:32Speaker 4: Mogey, mogey, mogey.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Such a cynical view of the world.
- 42:36Speaker 4: That was the best acting you've done in years, man.
- 42:39Speaker 2: That was great.
- 42:40Speaker 4: I fell for it.
- 42:41Speaker 3: You mark my words, fellas. Oh, no. She'll be happening
- 42:47Speaker 3: this week at some stage.
- 42:48Speaker 2: This is one of the oddest promotions for a sponsor.
- 42:52Speaker 2: I'd say in the history of the world where you–
- 42:55Speaker 2: The main host, one of the main hosts, lies about
- 42:58Speaker 2: using the product.
- 42:59Speaker 4: Yeah. Obviously doesn't like going there, which is crazy because
- 43:03Speaker 4: of the crave-worthy street food that's freshly made.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Oh, I love it.
- 43:07Speaker 4: Genuinely.
- 43:08Speaker 3: I wish I was having it for dinner tonight.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Why don't you? Hey, New Zealand, what are you having
- 43:13Speaker 4: for dinner? Give us a text on 3483. Tell us
- 43:17Speaker 4: where you are and give us your name as well
- 43:19Speaker 4: and you can win 50 bucks for your burger. That's 3483.
- 43:21Speaker 4: What's for tea? Beautiful.
- 43:25Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Collective Soul there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 43:32Speaker 3: Tuesday evening. But right now it's time for... Oh, yeah. Hey, guys.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Text here from Steve.
- 43:39Speaker 3: What's for tea, New Zealand?
- 43:40Speaker 4: With me, Keithy. That's right. What's for tea, New Zealand?
- 43:47Speaker 4: You text 3483. Tell us what you're having for dinner
- 43:49Speaker 4: and you could win Reburger.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Reburger.
- 43:51Speaker 4: Pretty simple, fellas. G'day there. Oh, hang on. This text
- 43:56Speaker 4: comes from Gavin.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Larson. And Stacey.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Newsome.
- 44:02Speaker 4: It's Gavin and Stacey.
- 44:03Speaker 2: G'day, guys.
- 44:04Speaker 4: Gavin and Stacey here. We will be having curried sausages
- 44:10Speaker 4: on mashed taties. Cheers.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Curried sausages on mashed taties. An abomination.
- 44:15Speaker 4: No, that sounds delicious.
- 44:17Speaker 2: No.
- 44:18Speaker 4: I love sausages.
- 44:19Speaker 2: No. I can't have, I can't, and this is just me,
- 44:21Speaker 2: all right? This is not everyone's. I cannot have a
- 44:24Speaker 2: sausage that is cooked in an oven amongst other liquids.
- 44:27Speaker 2: I need to have, and I had sausages last night.
- 44:30Speaker 2: I had sausages last night. I need to have them
- 44:32Speaker 2: with a fried, so they've got a crispy edge in
- 44:34Speaker 2: that to them. Not a mushy, as I say, abomination. Gross.
- 44:40Speaker 2: It's from the 80s, actually, Keezy.
- 44:42Speaker 3: I don't, yes, it very much is. I love that dish.
- 44:44Speaker 3: I don't mind a sausage in a sauce like your
- 44:46Speaker 3: deviled sausages, for example, but no, I can't abide curried sausages.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Just can't do it.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Is it because you guys have never experienced good curried sausages?
- 44:58Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I've probably never even tried it, but just
- 45:00Speaker 2: the sound of it is foul.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Possibly.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I reckon it's that, because if you have a good one,
- 45:05Speaker 4: my mum makes a good one. We used to when
- 45:06Speaker 4: I was a kid.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 45:09Speaker 4: G'day, guys. Tanya here.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Well, I'll just stop you there, Keezy, because a curried sausage. Now,
- 45:15Speaker 2: a curried sausage, I take it back, is a brown sausage,
- 45:18Speaker 2: so you brown them up first. But then it's smothered
- 45:21Speaker 2: in a curry-flavoured gravy with onions, carrots and peas. Oh, God.
- 45:26Speaker 4: That sounds delicious.
- 45:27Speaker 2: No. No peas.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Am I allowed to like it?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Yes. As I said, it's just me. And Jace.
- 45:33Speaker 4: And Jace seems to be jumping on board as well.
- 45:35Speaker 2: He hates it. They're foul.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Disgusting.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Yeah, right. Okay. G'day, guys. Tanya here.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Tanya Harding.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Yeah. Tanya Harding.
- 45:45Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Tanya Harding here. I'm having yum wok Chinese fatigue. Yum what?
- 45:51Speaker 4: It must be like one of your local store down
- 45:53Speaker 4: the road. Oh, that's the name of the old restaurant.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 45:58Speaker 4: We discussed this the other day. I miss getting my
- 46:01Speaker 4: Chinese out of a warmer and trying to jam it
- 46:03Speaker 4: into a plastic container. I miss that. I used to
- 46:06Speaker 4: love that as a kid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, not bad.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Embarrassing your family.
- 46:10Speaker 2: I sort of found that it was always the idea
- 46:13Speaker 2: of it was better than the reality.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Because it had been under those heat lamps for God
- 46:17Speaker 2: knows how many hours, and then it was just like that.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Coagulated.
- 46:20Speaker 4: But I was a kid, so I wasn't fussing.
- 46:22Speaker 2: No, no, that's true.
- 46:23Speaker 3: You're a garbage gut.
- 46:26Speaker 4: That's literally what my parents used to call my brother
- 46:29Speaker 4: and I.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Bloody garbo guts.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Jeez.
- 46:32Speaker 4: G'day, guys. Nick here.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Cave. Yeah.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Cage.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Oh.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Nick Cage.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Wow.
- 46:39Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 46:41Speaker 4: My fiance and I are having a chunky soup and
- 46:44Speaker 4: homemade garlic bread.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Cheers. What kind of chunky soup?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Well, that's very non-specific.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Oh, he's just texted back, minestrone.
- 46:53Speaker 2: I don't mind a minestrone, weirdly, but I don't like
- 46:55Speaker 2: the peas. I'll eat around the peas.
- 46:57Speaker 4: There's no peas in it.
- 46:58Speaker 3: I hate minestrone.
- 46:59Speaker 4: Why is that?
- 46:59Speaker 3: Because it's got tomato. I like a creamy tomato soup
- 47:03Speaker 3: with a grilled cheese toasty. Yes. But I don't like
- 47:07Speaker 3: a minestrone.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Oh, so he said, sorry, I'm actually having a creamy
- 47:11Speaker 4: tomato soup with a grilled cheese toastie.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Now you're talking.
- 47:14Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 47:17Speaker 1: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 47:23Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 5.25. Now listen, the Black Claps.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Caps. The Black Caps.
- 47:33Speaker 3: The Black Caps are playing India at Eden Park on Friday,
- 47:37Speaker 3: this Friday. If you want a double pass to that,
- 47:40Speaker 3: give us a call right now on 0800 HODUCKY. I
- 47:43Speaker 3: believe we're too zipped down at the moment, fellas.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Yeah, we're getting flogged. Yeah, a little bit. I think
- 47:48Speaker 2: there's another game possibly on, might be tomorrow night, might
- 47:51Speaker 2: be on the Wednesday.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Yes, I think you're right.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Between now and the Friday, of course. Yeah, I haven't
- 47:56Speaker 2: managed to catch either of the games, sadly. But the
- 47:59Speaker 2: first one was a real run-scoring fest. The second one,
- 48:03Speaker 2: not so much. But both have been very close games
- 48:05Speaker 2: with an opportunity for both sides to win.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 48:08Speaker 2: But they are the best in the world at it.
- 48:09Speaker 2: They toweled us up, didn't they, in the T20 World
- 48:12Speaker 2: Cup final a year or so ago. G Lane, of course,
- 48:15Speaker 2: travelled all the way to India to watch that final
- 48:17Speaker 2: and watch us get absolutely done.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Well, it was always going to happen as soon as
- 48:21Speaker 3: he decided to do that. You know what I'm saying?
- 48:23Speaker 4: Yeah. Absolutely. Also, fellas, we are going to be broadcasting
- 48:26Speaker 4: live from the ground.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 4: To celebrate the big T20 happening at Eden Park.
- 48:33Speaker 2: That's how we celebrate it, from broadcasting live from there.
- 48:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. So we're broadcasting the show before India v.
- 48:39Speaker 4: The Black Caps. That starts at 8 p.m. Friday night.
- 48:41Speaker 4: 8 p.m.? Weather's looking good, so it's a great way
- 48:45Speaker 4: to spend a Friday evening, fellas. We will be live, however,
- 48:48Speaker 4: from the brand new Coca-Cola Field Club. So this is
- 48:51Speaker 4: a brand new area. It's a new space. It's part
- 48:55Speaker 4: of a massive $ 10 million upgrade to the Lower West Stand.
- 48:59Speaker 4: It's right on the grass. You've got the best view,
- 49:01Speaker 4: your ground level. Get that perspective right by the pitch there.
- 49:05Speaker 4: And it's accessible if you've got a GA ticket. So
- 49:08Speaker 4: it's not like a special area that you have to
- 49:09Speaker 4: pay extra for. If you've got a GA ticket to
- 49:11Speaker 4: the game, you can go down to the old Coca-Cola
- 49:14Speaker 4: Field Club and check things out.
- 49:15Speaker 3: That's what we'll be how good totally do we get
- 49:17Speaker 3: snacks and stuff.
- 49:18Speaker 4: No idea i have no idea jace but it's bloody
- 49:21Speaker 4: exciting uh let's see who wants to get that double pass.
- 49:24Speaker 3: G'day joe you're mad barson how's life pretty good there
- 49:27Speaker 3: thanks fellas good on you mate you're a bit of
- 49:30Speaker 3: a cricket fan are you joe I need a cricket, mate.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Love it.
- 49:33Speaker 4: You love it.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Yeah, nice.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Do you play yourself, can I ask, Joe?
- 49:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we play a bit of last man standing. Nice.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah, and what do you do for a crust, mate?
- 49:43Speaker 2: I'm in the sales game there, fellas.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, good on you, mate.
- 49:45Speaker 4: There's no mug.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you're back, mate. So it's a double pass, Joe.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Who are you going to take with you?
- 49:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I was saying before, I think I might take
- 49:53Speaker 2: my son if he's available. There you go.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Lovely.
- 49:57Speaker 3: Yeah, very nice, Father Sam. Come and say g'day to
- 49:59Speaker 3: us in the, what was it, Geezy?
- 50:01Speaker 4: The Coca-Cola Field Club, Joe. Accessible if you've got a
- 50:04Speaker 4: GA ticket, which you've got, man.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Oh, sounds good. Good on you, mate. Stay on the
- 50:08Speaker 3: line and old Pug Sam will sort you out, all right?
- 50:11Speaker 2: Thanks, boys.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Good stuff, mate.
- 50:12Speaker 4: Bloody exciting. So if you are going along to the cricket,
- 50:15Speaker 4: keep that in mind. GA Pass, come down to the
- 50:17Speaker 4: Coca-Cola Field Club. We'll be broadcasting live before the game.
- 50:19Speaker 4: It's meant to be a lovely evening.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 50:21Speaker 4: T20 cricket.
- 50:22Speaker 3: My wife's going to come to that, actually. It's interesting, Mogi,
- 50:25Speaker 3: because she's never been to a big match, whether it
- 50:28Speaker 3: be rugby, league, cricket. And I said, my God, that's
- 50:31Speaker 3: pretty extraordinary. Come to this. And she said, yeah, very keen. Really?
- 50:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Wow.
- 50:36Speaker 4: That's amazing.
- 50:37Speaker 3: She said, is Keezy going to be there?
- 50:39Speaker 4: What did you say?
- 50:40Speaker 3: I said, yes. She was like, oh. I'll see how
- 50:43Speaker 3: I go. Oh, really?
- 50:44Speaker 1: The Hodaki Beat Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 50:48Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 50:57Speaker 3: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big
- 50:59Speaker 3: show done and dusted this Tuesday evening. We really do
- 51:03Speaker 3: hope that you enjoyed it. In the disclaimer podcast, which
- 51:08Speaker 3: is bonus content we do before the show, what's the
- 51:11Speaker 3: clip you've got for us today, Keezy?
- 51:13Speaker 4: Thanks, Jase. Today's disclaimer podcast was an oyster special.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 51:18Speaker 4: So here is a clip. Comes out at 7.30 tonight
- 51:21Speaker 4: wherever you get your podcasts from.
- 51:24Speaker 3: You buy me 100 oysters, I guarantee you I'll eat
- 51:27Speaker 3: them all.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Listen to that. You guarantee you can eat 100.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Easy.
- 51:31Speaker 4: This is the guy who splits a one-person fish pie
- 51:34Speaker 4: with his wife for dinner.
- 51:35Speaker 2: That's right.
- 51:36Speaker 4: And is full afterwards.
- 51:37Speaker 2: It's true. He's telling you there.
- 51:40Speaker 4: You could not eat 100 oysters.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Bring it on.
- 51:42Speaker 4: No, you couldn't.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I wonder if we should bring that oyster chat online tomorrow.
- 51:45Speaker 2: I think people would be interested in, you know, the
- 51:47Speaker 2: cheapest dozens that are around the place.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 51:50Speaker 2: And also I'd like to get, because we're talking about
- 51:52Speaker 2: oysters and I found some cheap ones over the weekend.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Or actually, they're just normally priced. They're not restaurant prices.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 51:58Speaker 2: I'd like to hear from a restaurateur about how they
- 52:01Speaker 2: managed to get them to be so expensive.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Quadruple the price.
- 52:06Speaker 3: Absolutely, mate. Outrageous. It is outrageous. Mogi, what's your plans tonight, mate?
- 52:11Speaker 4: Great question.
- 52:12Speaker 2: I'm going to go home and I'm going to eat
- 52:13Speaker 2: a lot. I am starving.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Same.
- 52:16Speaker 2: And then I've got to watch East of Eden. And
- 52:19Speaker 2: then the movie Tenzing is out. Oh, yes. Tenzing, which
- 52:23Speaker 2: is on Apple TV. You can't watch that, obviously. But
- 52:25Speaker 2: it's got Tom Hiddleston in it playing Sir Edmond Hillary
- 52:30Speaker 2: and another gentleman playing Norgay. Tenzin Norgay, I should say.
- 52:35Speaker 2: So I want to watch that as well. A friend
- 52:36Speaker 2: of mine produced it, but I won't be able to
- 52:38Speaker 2: do it all, Keezy. You can't do it all, man.
- 52:40Speaker 2: You just can't.
- 52:41Speaker 4: 100% fellas.
- 52:42Speaker 2: What are you going to be doing tonight there, Keezy, man?
- 52:45Speaker 4: I'm having stuffed capsicums for dinner.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Can I just say on behalf of everyone listening?
- 52:51Speaker 4: I know, that's what I said.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Is it like pork mince stuffed?
- 52:54Speaker 4: Nah, it's mince, but it's not pork mince, which I'm
- 52:56Speaker 4: fuming about.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Stuffed capsicum is straight out of the 80s.
- 52:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it is. You've got to ditch that.
- 53:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 53:01Speaker 4: My wife really felt like capsicum.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Is that coming out of, are these some kind of
- 53:05Speaker 2: food boxes?
- 53:06Speaker 4: No, my wife's making them. Right. So those will be
- 53:09Speaker 4: ready when I get home. So I'm not stoked to
- 53:12Speaker 4: go home, to be honest. And why would you be? Nah.
- 53:17Speaker 4: So I work bloody hard.
- 53:19Speaker 2: You do.
- 53:19Speaker 4: For like three hours a day. A day. And then
- 53:21Speaker 4: I have to, what, eat a capsicum?
- 53:22Speaker 2: That is odd.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:24Speaker 2: I will say that.
- 53:25Speaker 4: So I'll be going home doing that, maybe going for
- 53:27Speaker 4: a quick walk to aid with digestion afterwards.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 53:30Speaker 4: What about you, Jason?
- 53:31Speaker 3: Yeah, well, what to do, what to do? I mean,
- 53:34Speaker 3: it's hard, isn't it, when you've done the sort of,
- 53:39Speaker 3: three-day thing because you get into sort of holiday mode.
- 53:42Speaker 2: You do.
- 53:43Speaker 3: And then it's kind of you snap back to reality again.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Snap back to reality.
- 53:48Speaker 3: You know, oh, God, that's right. I almost sometimes, I
- 53:51Speaker 3: don't know if you guys are like this, if you
- 53:53Speaker 3: have like a three-day, you sort of get out of
- 53:55Speaker 3: the habit of, you know, getting to work and you'll
- 53:58Speaker 3: be halfway through your day and you go, oh, my God,
- 54:00Speaker 3: I've got work today.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 54:02Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Yeah. So I'll be... You still.
- 54:06Speaker 4: Haven't told us what you're doing.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well, that's what I'm getting to, Jeezy. Oh, my God.
- 54:11Speaker 3: I think we're going out for dinner because we've had
- 54:13Speaker 3: home-cooked dinners three nights in a row.
- 54:15Speaker 4: A last-minute call-up.
- 54:16Speaker 2: Well, how is that possible? Because you had a Friday
- 54:18Speaker 2: night dinner, you went out, and you're saying you had
- 54:20Speaker 2: food at home three nights in a row.
- 54:22Speaker 4: So you're just lying.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Bullshit.
- 54:26Speaker 4: See you tomorrow at four.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Bye.
- 54:28Speaker 4: Yeah, that's bullshit.
