- 0:23Speaker 1: Alright, welcome back.
- 0:26Speaker 2: All right, welcome back, it's the North Florida Sports Network podcast.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Ah Well, yeah, so you know nothing to talk about here, unless you want to talk about assassination, but I really don't.
- 1:04Speaker 1: That was crazy sorry, I don't know what you're referencing um summer day, man.
- 1:20Speaker 2: FSU is now rumored in.
- 1:21Speaker 2: The assassination of the recruiting class for FSU is now rumored.
- 1:25Speaker 2: You mean?
- 1:25Speaker 1: the assassination of the recruiting class for FSU baseball.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Oh, by the draft, the MLB draft took place.
- 1:35Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Bring it back to sports Right here.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And you know you saw Tibbs and Smith get drafted back-to-back right in the first round, which was good to see the Giants and the Cubs.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, 13-14, right.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 1: One last time back-to-back for those guys.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And then that wasn't the end of it, though, and you saw, yeah, dengis and Jaime go fourth round, dorsey went seventh.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Had a couple signees.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Well, gavin Adams wasn't a signee, but he also didn't play last year.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Ah, it's a shame.
- 2:18Speaker 1: He went in the eighth Chase, mobley, mobley, their top commit, top signee winning the 10th.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I think the general line of thinking is he'll probably go pro.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Right, that's a bummer.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Saul Mack Estrada, another kid in the recruiting class out of JUCO.
- 2:40Speaker 1: He got drafted today in the 11th May.
- 2:43Speaker 1: See him go pro.
- 2:44Speaker 1: It's another arm.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Another hit to the class man.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Well, that's going to happen when?
- 2:50Speaker 1: you recruit good players, you know, but I think it's big that you got Arnold and Leiter coming back.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I would assume Dorsey goes.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You know Whitaker goes in the 15th.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I don't know man.
- 3:04Speaker 1: He's been in school a while.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I don't know man, he's been in school a while.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Why not you got a guy like Dorsey, who's not.
- 3:10Speaker 2: He'd be number three guy then.
- 3:14Speaker 1: If he came back.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Why not just go?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Take money, take money he was pitching really well.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Mcmurphy, he was pitching really well.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Let's so McMurphy From Action Sports or whatever, brett, yeah, reporting.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Is it reporting?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Or is it?
- 3:42Speaker 1: yeah, it's a vague tweet that could be interpreted A number of ways.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Is that really reporting?
- 3:48Speaker 1: He just tweeted something.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I mean we the video games officially releasing this weekend.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Oh, I mean it's already out.
- 3:56Speaker 1: People are playing.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I mean yeah, no give it a couple of weeks and get to it, we'll go live Right.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I weeks and get to it, we'll go live Right.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, you know you got to look at the tweet and really dissect what he's saying there.
- 4:11Speaker 1: The whole if the ACC still exists is a big, big part of that quote, that tweet that nobody seems to be focusing on.
- 4:22Speaker 1: The ACC is not going to exist.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Once the if and when the whole floodgates open and teams start bailing, mm-hmm.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I'd also, but there's also that the top interest of the conference would be North Carolina.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Right, sure, whatever I think there may be in terms of the SEC, I think there may be some legitimacy there Because they're not in the state.
- 4:50Speaker 2: My point is who cares?
- 4:51Speaker 2: At this point?
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's very clearly within a decade it's going to move to haves and have-nots schools that are actually dedicated to competing in football financially.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Like putting forth big money, they're just going to finally break off.
- 5:10Speaker 2: This is what it is.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I mean, you can say which the report is saying that Florida State is what a bad partner.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Oh, that's just what McMurphy is putting out there on his that's why they wouldn't, you know, be interested.
- 5:28Speaker 2: It's not a financial gain, or?
- 5:31Speaker 1: sure, whatever I mean it, you know it's not.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I think this is all under the assumption that there's still going to be four different conferences, and that's pretty much what he said.
- 5:43Speaker 1: If the acc keeps, you know it stays together right and clips it in florida state right.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Three new schools this year yeah, but I I just I mean any school that is serious about competing in football that's currently in the acc is going to want to get the hell out of there, right, and that's what it's come down to and it's going to leave a conference that is essentially what the Big East is in basketball.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I mean, they can keep the name, they'll be ACC by name, but it's not a power conference.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Right and football.
- 6:17Speaker 2: It won't be.
- 6:18Speaker 1: No.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And that's where the money comes in.
- 6:22Speaker 2: And once the NIL came in and once the TV money now is, you can use it however you want.
- 6:30Speaker 2: You're pretty much programming.
- 6:31Speaker 2: You have Fox and ESPN pretty much.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Right, they just want to monopolize.
- 6:38Speaker 1: They want to be like the SEC is trying to just dominate every sport, every college sport.
- 6:45Speaker 1: You know, fox.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I think Fox is making a play to go nationally, you know, with their Big Ten sorry brand, but I don't know who cares at this point.
- 6:59Speaker 2: The thing about the big 10 is they got the.
- 7:01Speaker 2: They got multiple network deals, yeah, so they have CBS Now they have NBC and they have Fox.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Right, um, and you know that, like say he is it's true, and and they're not going to, and you got to go and join the big 12.
- 7:17Speaker 2: That's what you've come.
- 7:18Speaker 2: The made the sport.
- 7:19Speaker 2: The reason why the NFL continues to grow and has the ability is because there's a salary cap, Because there's all the collective bargaining.
- 7:30Speaker 2: You know you have to, so the fans have an interest.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I mean they're still gonna.
- 7:35Speaker 2: It's just going to be more divided.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And Florida State, a team that wants to compete on a national level, saw the writing on the wall and right it sure didn't well, it didn't help with getting left out of the playoff, going undefeated so it's like well, what are we doing here?
- 7:54Speaker 1: you know, I think central florida ucf joined in Big 12, and the Big 12's deal being exponentially better.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah, UCF's going to make more money than Florida State now.
- 8:05Speaker 1: That was also a pretty huge, you know, if it wasn't the last straw, it was one of the last few.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Right, so we'll see.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I mean, I think there's obviously going to be negative takes when you leave a conference, you know.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Of course.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I mean you have an entire network, that is, you know, an entire media conglomerate that is behind the conference that we're leaving.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You know like they may not give a shit about the ACC, but they still own the ACC, yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 2: They still own it.
- 8:45Speaker 1: They can.
- 8:45Speaker 1: They can smear anything, it's just it's ridiculous.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Right and yeah, joining the big 12 would seem like a you know you're just going to another face but again, it's more money.
- 8:59Speaker 1: It gets you out of the ACC.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I don't think it's a pine.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I mean, people just get so emotional about it because college football and there are so many fans involved but what's a shit, you know you.
- 9:10Speaker 2: That's why you need a commissioner.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It's not the big 10.
- 9:13Speaker 2: And you um.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I think they can.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I think anybody hoping to hold an out hope for the SEC and Florida state can just forget about that.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's not going to happen.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I think either side really has a lot of interest in it.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I mean, maybe it would be a lot easier in terms of efficiency and travel and all that kind of stuff, but I don't.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Again, you're talking about ESPN more than ever.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 1: But this shit ain't happening Anytime soon.
- 9:49Speaker 1: That's the thing they're going to tweet out about it.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Both court cases are being stayed, so that means they're both being tried in their Respective states.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And aid, so that means that they're both being tried in their respective states and we'll see what happens.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Right, the one down here in Olean County is progressing a little bit more quickly than the other.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I would imagine that FSU announces that it's going to leave the ACC once it settles the deal.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Right $230 million.
- 10:27Speaker 1: We stay through the 25 season.
- 10:30Speaker 1: We keep the meteorites after that 25 season Right they hold on to everything that happened from that point and in the past.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So you know yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 1: We're out of there, man, screw him, screw him, swofford.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Are you kidding me?
- 10:49Speaker 1: That guy?
- 10:51Speaker 1: He's whatever.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Jim Phillips, great leadership, help me, help you.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Well, you know it's a golf major Because that music's pretty and it's the open.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Some say it's the golf major From Royal Troon.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Well, if you want to piss those people off, call it, the British.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Open, yeah, yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 2: What about the British Open?
- 11:33Speaker 2: The Open I don't want to piss them off.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Who's people?
- 11:38Speaker 2: It's taking place.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Golf people.
- 11:42Speaker 2: They renamed it.
- 11:43Speaker 2: They made sure they renamed it here in the US.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I don't want to be in the Open, the Open.
- 11:54Speaker 1: But it's still called the US Open Right.
- 11:59Speaker 2: The Open was there first, and then you started the united states open, okay, and you wanted to call ours oh, you're british open, so I get it.
- 12:10Speaker 1: They were like no, no, no, we're the open so they didn't like originally call it, so nobody called it the british open, I think I think tv people here call it the British Open, like America.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, then I get that.
- 12:24Speaker 1: They're calling it their own country.
- 12:26Speaker 1: They just call it the Open.
- 12:27Speaker 1: They don't want us Yanks just calling it the British Open.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's crazy, but not really.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Legacy of golf Call it a lot worse though.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Royal Troon, anyway, is the venue Tiger Woods is going to be playing and doesn't really care what Colin Montgomery has to say about it, because until Tiger turns 60 he has the right to play as a past open champion.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I, like McIlroy, maybe Koepka Favorites, I mean I think Tiger makes the cut.
- 13:12Speaker 2: There's my wild prediction.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And there you go, I'm looking forward to it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Is that a wild prediction?
- 13:18Speaker 1: Tiger makes the cut.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Not really.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I mean.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I think that a wild prediction.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Tiger making the cut?
- 13:21Speaker 2: Not really.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's a win if he makes the cut All right At a major yeah, Not the Masters too where he's familiar with the track, Because everyone says that if he were to compete and win possibly another major it would have to be at Augusta.
- 13:37Speaker 2: So if he were to go out and contend anywhere else, you know, hey, I saw Tom Watson, damn near one of the best performances ever, man yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I mean, he had it, man, he just got, he buckled under the pressure man, he's going to lock, tiger's going to lock in one he was what?
- 13:58Speaker 2: 59 or something?
- 13:59Speaker 2: One tournament he's just going to lock in.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he was old.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Stewart Sink ended up winning it, stewie.
- 14:06Speaker 2: You know everyone was like damn it, stewart.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I mean good on him, but I remember watching that rooting for him.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Everybody was going for Dr Tom man.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Well, it happened to Phil at Kiowa.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, Phil's had some.
- 14:26Speaker 1: He got the PGA.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Yeah, came, you know, at 48.
- 14:30Speaker 2: 48.
- 14:34Speaker 1: well, there you go.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Pretty impressive, so lefty though you know and and tiger's hoping you know he can hit it right, get the right draw.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I mean, that's the thing about those tournaments is so much is based on the wind and you can get and you either have how old is tiger?
- 14:54Speaker 2: you tee off in the first groups, then you tee off in the last groups of the next day.
- 14:59Speaker 2: So I always think I don't know how I would rather do tee off last the first day and then get it started the second day.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But either way it could change based on where your first two days draw lies with the win.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So that eliminates pretty much half the field, right there, you know.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Your first two days draw lies with the win.
- 15:19Speaker 2: So you know that that that eliminates pretty much half the field, right there, you know.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So then you have it's tricky, but the elements will definitely play a role.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it.
- 15:31Speaker 2: The last major of the year, and then we have the Olympics.
- 15:35Speaker 2: It's Olympic year.
- 15:40Speaker 1: All right, the Olympics.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's the Olympic year, all right, olympics.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Where did it take place?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Paris, paris.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I mean I like probably have an Olympic preview.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I like track.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I like watching that.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, swimming, gymnastics, cracking field.
- 16:10Speaker 2: It's a lot, it's a lot Great.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Basketball Hoops.
- 16:17Speaker 2: There it is.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Salah Great Basketball Hoops Hoops.
- 16:20Speaker 1: There it is, Archery.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Where does that start?
- 16:29Speaker 2: End of the month.
- 16:32Speaker 1: End of this month.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, 200-meter hurdles.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I saw the woman break the world record.
- 16:48Speaker 2: She didn't think of her name right now, but that's where our Olympic preview show will be about.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Can't wait, yeah, I know it's going to be about.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Can't wait, yeah, I know it's going to be great, it's the dog days of summer.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, everybody.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Stay safe out there, try to get along.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Take a breath Like a few of them, right?
- 17:27Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just telling myself that when this football season starts, ah, man, this season's not even gonna be like a real season, doesn't feel like it?
- 17:36Speaker 2: It's like a court battle.
- 17:37Speaker 2: It's gonna be the main Court battle.
- 17:38Speaker 2: We're feel like it.
- 17:39Speaker 1: It's like a court battle is going to be the main Court battle.
- 17:40Speaker 1: We're going to be getting a shout-out by all the media Stadium renewal, doke's going to be at like half capacity, basically.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Jimmy's fooled pledged pessimist already, and I mean your nightmare scenario happened.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Right, and I mean your nightmare scenario happened.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Right, I'm thinking 7-5, 6-6.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Much, much more likable and possible than 11-1 or undefeated.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Oh, okay, I would agree with that, right, but I don't think it's going to be that We'll do that, though We'll go over the wins and losses Summertime.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Summertime man.
- 18:21Speaker 2: And we'll talk to you next time, right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 18:25Speaker 2: We'll be right back.
