Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to OnlyFin's Q&A Live, a question and answer show exclusive to OnlyFin.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: And Miami Dawkins discord server.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's your host, out.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: And we're on this OnlyFin's Q&A Live for January 22nd, 2026.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: And today is kind of like zero day, because we have ourselves officially.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: new general manager, new head coach in the building, they conducted their press conferences today, and I love what we're going to ask what I thought about these press conferences from both really, because they both had prepared remarks, they both answered questions, they both met with players,
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: one on one's on the side you could see those videos there they're pretty much everywhere if you follow my kuneo he has one with halfly and genre excelvin uh they went across the street after they had signed their contracts i guess and well after halfly had signed his contract and they watched national championship game on on monday uh the genre excelvin i guess reveals that he was already doing some of the work there um
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: As far as any real news other than that press conference today, I guess, you know, deadline isn't a day for people to declare for the draft, the big one is staying home at the University of Miami, modern-mountain, great defensive tackle.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I saw some some mock drafts that were saying, oh, he's like a six romp, he was not a six romp pick.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: like it was going to be late day two in my estimation somebody's going to move up from you don't play that good for that long and go in the six round and especially with his size he's six three two hundred three hundred and twenty five pounds uh... he was going to make somebody very happy as a three tech uh... he's coming back to the University of Miami so
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: he will not enter the draft but we already had all the others that were rumored to be entering the NFL draft declare today so the deadlines in the day and we pretty much have the makings of a pretty decent draft class coming up quarterbacks are not going to be good so if you think that Miami and I understand that a solid reveal today that they will be taking a quarterback every year or
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: If you have your I on one, I guess you could get yourself excited for Garrett Nussmire.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, it is not a deep quarterback class, at least not top heavy.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe there's going to be a couple of guys in the in day two that you might keep an eye on.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Day three absolutely.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Day three should see a pretty active and deep quarterback market.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't done too many mock drafts, but the ones that I've seen, the ones that I trust, and I see that names go off the board, as far as the quarterbacks that go off the board, on day three, I see a pretty healthy quarterback market for day three.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, we're doing this live on our Discord, and if you want to participate and become a member, you got to go to discord.gg forward slash only friends and become a member there all access for $4.99 a month.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Do it on a desktop avoid the Apple upcharges.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: It is just $4.99 a month all access.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: As far as the rest of the draft class, I kind of like the off-ball linebackers.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Edge is not deep at all, but then here's where we do get deep.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: And secondary, pretty strong draft class.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive tackle, look, first of all, if you're gonna earmark guys for day three at offensive tackle, you expect them to start, you're probably doing this wrong, but day one, day two, at offensive tackle, pretty strong class.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Guard is usually very, very, very strong
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, remember you have a lot of comforts when when these draft classes get announced a lot of guys that were pretty decent tackles in college Always reduce inside as as guards in the NFL level.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: So the guard class is usually pretty deep.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: You just have to do some projecting you're gonna have to
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: I guess project for the next level as far as what scheme they were in in college and what scheme they were fit for in the NFL.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: One guy that did declare today and his Cooper the right guard for the University of Miami.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's an absolute stud.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's a people mover.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he's more for a gaps scheme.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what kind of scheme Miami's going to run.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, caution there, right?
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, as far as protecting any of these guys can't describe, you know, obviously did declare today.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: And in my estimation, he's a late day two guy, early day three guy, just because of his, uh, running numbers and his age is going to be 25 years old when the draft rolls around.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect him to run sub-44, but can he run 449, low-45s, I think that's a possibility.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: And if he runs low-45s, I think he's going to be there because the production is just too good to ignore.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: And the production is going on two years and in two great leagues, SEC and ACC.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: And we saw him in these playoffs.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: He was absolutely spectacular in these playoffs and I've said this a million times before I understand that Ruben Bain is a top five pick and he absolutely deserves to be a top five pick in this draft And a key measure is probably likely a late first round pick both of those players are fabulous players I like them both but Kianta Scott was the best defense player on the Miami hurricanes this year
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the way it was.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, and no other real surprises as far as guys that declared really the only surprise is that I'm on Bowton is coming back to school, so he is not coming out.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only surprise as far as the deadline here for guys to declare.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Angela Ponds is going to be an interesting one.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: kind of diminutive, kind of small.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: You saw him in the National Championship game.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's the corner for Indiana.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Guys in absolute dog, local product.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Just size is going to be his issue, but watch his game against Ohio State and the Big Ten National in the Big Ten Championship game.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Watch his game there!
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I don't think he was backing down too much to Colonel Tate and Jeremiah Smith.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Watch his game and tell me what you see, he's obviously an NFL player, as far as where he will go, man, that size, that's just something, you know, and he's going to be time dependent.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: At that size, if he runs mid four, five, so he could be in ignored today three.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: you know, uh, corner back as a position in the NFL, which you're kind of required to run fast at the combine.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: So that's one thing I will I will watch very, very, very closely, uh, where we can away from shrine and senior bull.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and I guess we'll talk a lot about that next week.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I am credentialed for the senior bull.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: working on a sponsor right now to send me to the senior ball uh... because i'm not paying for it myself it's kind of expensive going to mubio this time of the year so now i will have a lot of stuff from the their media portal that i'll be able to share with with that it and with you all on this show uh...
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: as far as any other news i don't think there's any more news so i think we can move on right to the the press conferences today um... generic solvent good communicator big takeaways obviously his you know that that was a bar when he said he was going to draft a quarterback every single year or every other year he named drop to Thompson which is a good thing to hear
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, talk very little about philosophy.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: As far as Jeff Haffley, he kind of laid out a little bit of his philosophy and, you know, it's a hard charging one, one thing I did like a lot.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: was when Jeff Haffley was asked about his offensive system or his hypothetical offensive system.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about, you know, we got to be able to run it when you're opponent knows you're running it and you're going to run it anyway and get it.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I would expect considerable investment on the offensive line, this coming off season.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the investment on the offensive line will be a little deeper than the investment on the defensive line.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because kind of like what we know about right right now is these draft classes, the edge room in this draft class is not particularly deep.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: You can have to project on some of those guys.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think the first round is going to be pretty solid.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Once you get into day two, it gets, there's a drop off.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: And not that you're gonna have to reach for guys, but you definitely gonna have to try it.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna have to target guys, because I don't think that this is the kind of draft class, especially on the edge room, where you just couldn't sit around and you could say, look, you know, these top 50 guys are pretty much like the top 100 guys.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't necessarily have to invest a second-round pick.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I can invest a third-round pick on one of these guys.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: I would caution you
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, what kind of player can you get at 11, you know, to fulfill that edge need?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that's where they're going with it.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: Unless they're planning to trade down and then, you know, target somebody like David Bailey or a King Mezzador.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I, so I'm pretty solid on this.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: I am pretty solid and certain that the investment will be the heavier investment.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: in draft capital and create and dollars are going to be on that offensive line.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: I at least to start.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we're going to go to break.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: And before we do, you're going to have to listen to some of our sponsors.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: The first, these words,
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: All right, and we're back.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I hear some guys are asking me for draft targets and stuff like that.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: It is January 22nd, not everybody has even declared for the draft yet.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'll start my work on that.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Come senior ball and try and game this week.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I won't have any legitimate answers other than Guys at the very very very very top of the draft class and that's pretty much what everybody's gonna give you right now So I got to get a little bit deeper into this draft class
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: I have seen a couple people ask about defensive backs pretty good class.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Very very good class.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: Why receiver good class?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Edge is really what's what's a little weak.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: The defense attack was pretty decent as well, but Edge is a little weak quarterbacks a little weak.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know running back is as always decent, you know.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's always pretty decent.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Titans?
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's good for day two, day three, the high end, tight ends, this year, not for me, man.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: And you kind of know who that high end tight end is.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: I believe there's just one for this draft.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Kid for Morgan, sadique, I'm just not a fan, not a fan.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'll follow I'm back up very, very, very deep, safety corner back, deep as well.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know what's deep also?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Might Miami be in the market.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: you never know.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's take some some questions.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right, first question.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting that in your thoughts on the press conference, well, I kind of told you, you know, you know, pretty good stuff.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was kind of cool that they visited with the media in the press room.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: I have never seen a coach, any coach, or a general manager, any member from the front office being that press room ever.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: And these guys came on over to talk to us.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty excited to see camp.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty excited to be in camp and you know talk to these guys, and that's that's gonna be a lot of fun watching these guys In action also come March as free agency rolls around We're gonna see them on the scouting trail.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be at the senior bowl.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna be I'm pretty sure both are gonna be at the senior bowl To shrine game.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty certain that they'll be represented with with scouts Did do need to do some hiring and not only a coaching staff by the way
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: they need to do some hiring in the front office like who's gonna be the pro personal guy who's gonna be the the regional scouts who's gonna be the director of college scouting
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we don't know these things.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we know that they hired one guy who was, you know, who was a former hurricane, by the way.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: They hired one guy to be a scout or maybe to be a regional scout.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if he's going to actually get up to director of college scouting, but we shall see.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we know that we have a cap guy and we have a general manager.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have pretty much anything else.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to have to hire some of these guys.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: If you're wondering about timelines about that, the last time that Chris Greer was officially given the job.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: And this was when Brian Flores was the made-head coach.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: When they hired Regime Kenzie and Marvin Allen, it was usually, it was about two weeks, almost two weeks after Brian Flores was named head coach.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess start counting down from now.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: Do you need these guys for senior bowl and shrine game?
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not But do you need them?
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: Before March absolutely so I would expect a very very busy month of February
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: and what's left of January, you know, the the nine days that are left.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: Next question, do you think Sully will be able to get a competent offensive line in place to solve season and could join us to work out on the right side?
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's something that's going to be in the works.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: but I can tell you what's in flux.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: They need to make a decision at right tackle with Austin Jackson.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: They don't owe them any more guaranteed money.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: So if they want to replace them, sure.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now, do you want to leave yourself more work to do?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to just ride the season out with Austin Jackson and just say to yourself, you know what?
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get his eventual replacement.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: I was, I was mentioned his name, I was a mispronounces name, my noor will be there at 11.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: I have my doubts, I think he's going to be the first offensive tackle taken.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: But if not, you know, there's plenty of guys in the first two days that you can take plug-and-play at right guard and then see what they do down the line as a right tackle.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the most obvious one, right?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're looking at right guard,
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: you know late day two and they got the picks by the way five top 100 picks day four I mean day three is going to be absolutely loaded you could fill a spot there you can also fill a spot on a one-year deal in free agency James Daniels I don't know if if they're just going to play this game again you know what they owe them in cash for this coming season I believe
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're going to do that.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: And same thing goes for Jonah Savine, he's a guy who, are you going to create yourself another, another hole?
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: I will guess, and this is just a guess right now, that they're going to go with the assumption that they have their tackles and their center for the coming season, meaning Austin Jackson, Patrick Paul, Aron Brewer, and they'll work around the edges and possibly add Austin Jackson's eventual replacement on the roster already.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: One thing that you do know about
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: what Green Bay has done as far as getting offensive linemen they're usually pretty versatile they're usually guys that can play several positions uh... that time by the way made a proble as a right tackle in my estimation he could be a proble or as a center and guard and i think as a guard he'll make he'll be a perennial all pro
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: but they play them all right tackle.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: So they like their guys to be very versatile.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's something that will be a feature.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: this team going forward.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: Next question.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Any coach on the current defensive staff that you think sticks around in some capacity?
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good question.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think Austin Clark is a guy who is how he thought of around the league and more importantly has performed.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he's the guy that could stick around.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, I do expect a lot of turnover.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of turnover on this, these coaching staffs.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: uh... next question uh... no commitment to to a uh... first press conference i think that they're just they're feeling the way around this right now and i think they understand the issues with the cap you know i don't think that they're just going to plan on rolling out out there with with queniers all right so
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, somebody mentions here that he said that slowly mentioned three individual times Once we get the cap in through a healthier place, yeah, that's that's that's part of it.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: Are they going to get in on the Malik Willis sweepstakes?
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm?
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: Makes sense, right?
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: For these two guys.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: Here's here's what you know.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: And look, can they do it?
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they can.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: They can afford to do it.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can move money around.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the thing, if they do go after Malik Willis, look at the commitment.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: If it's a one-two-year commitment, I think that they're kind of telling you everything you need to know.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: They like them, but they don't love them.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: If it's a deeper commitment, then that's all you need to know.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: That means that these guys were there in the building with him, and they're convinced that this guy's a franchise quarterback.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, I would watch that commitment going forward.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: Personally, I wouldn't want to go too deep.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: Will they be it?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: Will there be a team that gets desperate and goes deep for Malik?
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: Will it's talking about a four-year contract?
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: A guarantee in excess of $50 million.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe something like a four year 100 million dollar deal, which is 25 million APY, but I'm pretty sure that they'll front load at least 50 million guaranteed in the first two years, something in that range, which is a contract that beats just in fields contract from last year, right?
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: But gives you enough versatility where Malik will as blows up.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: after year two he's going to say you know what I'm not playing on this give me a new deal or he busts out you could just cut him without too much damage to the team after two seasons that's something I can't foresee happening next question is that a huge relief that Sully mentioned building up both the offensive and defensive lines
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a huge relief.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's what needs to be done.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's football's moving right back Into the 70s and early 80s and I don't mean the marino 80s I was on about Those Washington teams Oakland Raiders teams the ran the football played defense That's that's what we're headed now in in football.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, it's everything works and cycles in the sport.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we're cycling back toward running the football plane defense.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's where we're at right now.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: I got to do just look at the numbers on the passing side this year.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: They weren't pretty.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: No prolific passers other than Matthew Stafford.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: He had one extremely efficient one in Drake May, and another pretty decent one in Dak Prescott, other than that.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: wasn't a very good passing year.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: Next question, I'm still hoping for the tailing green as a developmental guy.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree, but I think he's going to drop day three.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: His season was not good.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: He had a legitimately bad season in Arkansas this year.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: What mock draft websites do you use?
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: I like PFF's website to do mock drafts Next question, I'll give me some safety to look at in the draft who would fit a halfly defense Well, I'm not gonna give you individual names like I said I haven't started to do my work in that regard I will begin this coming week
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I can tell you the kind of safety that he's going to want are the ones that are versatile enough to play in nickel and defend tight ends one on one because that's something that you saw safety's in Green Bay do plenty.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Remember he inverts his defense a lot of defense coordinators start off in a two high shell and then move off of that from there he's the opposite.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to show you a lot of single-high and then move into two high shells.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Tresden do steep throws while Anthony Weaver and Vic Fangio don't.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: They want you to complete passes underneath.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: So this is a little bit different.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be noticeable too.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: Once you watch the games, it's going to be noticeable.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be a very, very different defensive system than what you had last year.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: The most obvious pain is that this is going to be a middle of the field closed defense.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: While Anthony, we were ran, a middle of the field open defense.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty big change on that side of the ball.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: Next question, after being involved with General Manager in Head Coach, we'll try it when step away now.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: I believe he is.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think this was just a temporary gig, or we'll have some kind of advisory role moving forward.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, I believe that his work is now completed in this regard.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: Next question, what would you expect the deeper review of the roster from them?
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's happening now, as we speak.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: Was Craig Akerman only on a one-year deal with us?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: I know he interviewed with the bucks for this special team's coach But never say anything on him being let go Usually a lot of these guys are on one year and an option deals and they don't have they don't have to Exercise the option I think the deadline is for the new league year that and that
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: date is nowhere near here.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's in March.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: So the dolphins would have up till March to exercise an option on an acrimon if I mean, acrimon if they wanted to keep them.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: If not, you could just sign anywhere else, remember it's an option.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: So they can leave.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think of Fano?
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking about CC Manoa, you know, possibly being gone by 11.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: Fano's really, really, really good.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he is a right tackle.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: So he says does he play right tackle?
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: And if not, can he he can't?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Again, deeper dive on all these guys, speaking in the next week.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: Would you rather, we buy guards via frequency, yes, or draft some, just generally speaking.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: Guards, I'd rather buy them in frequency, you want the more experience, guys.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: You want to use...
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: Especially since tackles are so expensive, you want to use the rookie scale, rookie scale contracts to keep your tackles in-house for a long while, and that's why you usually want to take your tackles in the first round, so you can have them control cost controlled for five years.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: So yes, guards and free agency, you want to draft tackles.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: Next question.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: So you think Jonah is toast and well, I have no idea and do you think Daniels is gone?
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: No idea on that record either.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: I would lean toward James Daniels being gone.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yes Without kickoffs, would you want Sanders back but get a better price?
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's good at The his current salary structure.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: I will bring him back and not even think twice about it
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think Grant and Philips and Biggers can fit in the one-gap schemes that have we plays?
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think it'll be better in this regard.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: Winfield mentioned that Philips may not be as good a fit.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Philips won't be as good a fit in certain fronts.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: But he will, oh, there always be a use for a zero tech because a zero tech is used in pretty much every single defense.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I disagree in that regard.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be very, very useful.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that figures in grant.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that you could see an uptake in their production coming this season.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, how would you solve our current situation especially specifically the quarterback issue I want in on that 2027 quarterback draft class
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's gonna be one hell of a class, super deep.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you could go a million ways in a draft class.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: There's one guy in that draft class, I kind of like, and he's gonna be local.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: Darrym Mensa, okay?
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you a comparable, because everybody likes to compare guys to other guys.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: What if I tell you that Darrym Mensa is a lot like Tua Tunga-Walua, but healthy?
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: And six, three, two hundred and fifteen pounds?
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: That gets you a little excited, right?
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: A little bit better to arm strength, a little less anticipation.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's Dario Mensa.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be quarterback in the U.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: This coming season.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: So you're going to get a good long look at him.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: This coming year.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be the last question for now.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I get another one.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: How do you feel about half the going to call plays?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: Not used to that from the difference of coordinator head coaches.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, brand floors to that.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: Brand floors took over very early early on.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody okay.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, somebody saying that he's pretty excited about the dairy and men's talk.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the kids could solid like right now Just go read.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: Don't take my word for it You know, I understand that it's sexy that because he's going to the universe to Miami that everybody has to say oh my god You know, he blows.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's not gonna be very good
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: But go read anybody who's doing work on the 2027 drive class.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: They have them as a first round pick.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, more importantly, go read his stats because I know a lot of you are not going to sit around watching a bunch of Duke games from last year, right?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, go look at his stats and then wonder how the hell he got those stats with such a bad team last year.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: And now realize he's going to a really, really good team.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to put up a big number and I do expect him to be a Heisman candidate.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Hurricanes offense this year, if you watch them this past season on this run where they they finished in the National Championship game, that a ball control offense and a great defense.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: This coming season, they're going to have a prolific offense.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: and the defense should be pretty decent as well.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: They just added Damon Wilson really good, past Russia, who is supposed to be a top 10 pick in the 2027 draft as well.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, their defense is going to be pretty decent, but their offense is going to be much, much better.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: I expect Diary Mensa to put up big numbers.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: He is a candidate for the dolphins at quarterback in 2027.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a really, really, really deep draft this coming year for quarterbacks.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: So if you ask me what am I doing at quarterback, I want in on 2027.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean I don't take a guy this season in this year's draft?
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, I could take a guy in this year's draft, but I am absolutely taking one in 2027.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: uh... somebody right so he so he could be a ward like rise in the draft you say yes absolutely uh... first of all i doubt it because you know such a deep class and you know archmaning i do expect archmaning to have a monster year so it's going to be such a deep class at quarterback that you know men's uh... you know dot a more julien sand
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about a deep, super deep class.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: I want in on that class.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's it.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: There is no more.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: We will get with you again next week.
