0:40
SPEAKER_01: Nice.
0:42
SPEAKER_04: And I will say that I am Jamar Duran and I wanted to be drinking, but I'm drinking all night tonight later, so I didn't drink now.
0:52
SPEAKER_00: And you might find me crashing your party.
0:55
SPEAKER_03: Yay.
0:56
SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe that's why I didn't drink so I can drive.
0:59
SPEAKER_00: But um yeah.

1:13
SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you.
1:14
SPEAKER_04: I saw on like your social media that you were doing my favorite show and never reached out to me at all.
1:20
SPEAKER_04: And I was like, well, the audacity.
1:22
SPEAKER_00: Um actually powers must have been like on the fritz that day.
1:27
SPEAKER_01: I'm so sorry.
1:28
SPEAKER_01: No, actually, there was I have an email somewhere that we did reach out to you.
1:32
SPEAKER_01: Like, hey, when we finished Gook, you're like, oh, this is a good episode.
1:35
SPEAKER_01: Oh no, we didn't reach out to you.
1:37
SPEAKER_01: You reached out to us.
1:38
SPEAKER_01: Uh huh.
1:39
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
1:41
SPEAKER_01: Lisa.
1:41
SPEAKER_01: Oh, she found the email.
1:43
SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
1:44
SPEAKER_01: As I'm talking, I remember the thing.
1:46
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay, we suck.
1:48
SPEAKER_01: Jamar's Carraris.
1:49
SPEAKER_01: We're horrible, horrible guest fam.
1:51
SPEAKER_04: Um I was like, wow, they're they're stinking and didn't even say hi.
1:57
SPEAKER_04: Okay, cool.
1:57
SPEAKER_04: Well, I hope they enjoy it.
1:59
SPEAKER_00: There is always a spot for you here, okay?
2:03
SPEAKER_00: So just now it's on record.
2:05
SPEAKER_00: Open invitation.
2:06
SPEAKER_00: So you can't come back with that bullshit anymore.
2:10
SPEAKER_04: Next time you do a good show, I'm in.
2:13
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
2:13
SPEAKER_01: All of our shows are good.
2:14
SPEAKER_01: And now, um, because of this, to avoid any competition, you now have to be part of every show.
2:23
SPEAKER_01: Like whatever show that's picked, you must be part of it.
2:26
SPEAKER_01: There you go.
2:27
SPEAKER_01: You are locked in.
2:28
SPEAKER_04: You can't use that one.
2:31
SPEAKER_01: Agnes, Agnes wants to be a good idea.
2:33
SPEAKER_04: I learned all about contracts on good girls.
2:36
SPEAKER_00: Oh.
2:37
SPEAKER_04: Oh, I was talking over you, sorry.
2:39
SPEAKER_00: No, that's okay.
2:40
SPEAKER_00: So Agnes is probably paying me for uh some stuff.
2:45
SPEAKER_00: So my husband has been filling in.
2:48
SPEAKER_00: We haven't we've only published uh one bonus episode so far, but the invitation is still there and he passes the paperbag test.
2:56
SPEAKER_00: So, you know, keep that in mind.
2:58
unknown: If that helps.
3:00
SPEAKER_04: Ah, that's right.
3:01
SPEAKER_04: Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool.
3:03
SPEAKER_00: So talk to us about good girls.
3:05
SPEAKER_00: How did you come to find that show?
3:08
SPEAKER_04: Just talk?
3:09
SPEAKER_04: Okay, you go.
3:10
SPEAKER_04: What was that?
3:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
3:11
SPEAKER_04: Sorry, I don't have my big speakers on.
3:13
SPEAKER_04: I have none of my equipment.
3:14
SPEAKER_04: I'm on a makeshift Jamar rig because everything's in boxes.
3:17
SPEAKER_04: So everybody's gotta yell so I hear you.
3:19
SPEAKER_00: This is how special we feel that you took time out of your literal move from one state to another to talk to us.
3:26
SPEAKER_00: But so thank you.
3:28
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, no, just talk to us.
3:30
SPEAKER_01: How did you come across good girls?
3:32
SPEAKER_01: Did you find it when it first started airing, or what you were like a late comer to it?
3:38
SPEAKER_04: This is a I love this question.
3:39
SPEAKER_04: My answer is like always will not answer what you said, but it's gonna be what I want.
3:43
SPEAKER_04: Uh so when are you going to office?
3:48
SPEAKER_04: I like that.
3:50
SPEAKER_04: My fellow Americans.
3:52
SPEAKER_04: Um, so kink in television.
3:55
SPEAKER_04: This is my favorite show.
3:58
SPEAKER_04: If it's white ladies that are middle age in hijinks and shenanigans, I will watch it.
4:04
SPEAKER_04: I don't care what I'm doing.
4:05
SPEAKER_04: I could be in the middle of a shower.
4:07
SPEAKER_04: And if she's like 36 and she's like, My husband's cheating on me, so I gotta kill him.
4:11
SPEAKER_04: I will stop everything and watch that show.
4:14
SPEAKER_04: And so I think it was already on Netflix when I started, but it was during like live.
4:18
SPEAKER_04: It was like I was on season one and the show was on season two or and a half or something, I don't know.
4:23
SPEAKER_04: And I got sucked in.
4:24
SPEAKER_04: I was like, this is the greatest show of all time.
4:26
SPEAKER_04: I got another story about you too, like that you probably don't know.
4:29
SPEAKER_04: You might know.
4:29
SPEAKER_04: I don't know what you know.
4:30
SPEAKER_04: Um, and I'll try not to hog your show, but I am very excited about this show.
4:34
SPEAKER_00: Hog it.
4:34
SPEAKER_00: This is your show.
4:35
SPEAKER_04: What I I figured out, and it was good girls that how I figured it out.
4:39
SPEAKER_04: Netflix changes your thumbnail for the show based on who they think you are.
4:46
SPEAKER_04: So, for instance, there was some movie, I don't know what it was, but you can look it up.
4:52
SPEAKER_04: And on my thumbnail, it was Denise Richards looking really sexy and hot.
4:57
SPEAKER_04: And when I was a kid, I had a crush on the jersey.
4:59
SPEAKER_00: Me, who did it?
5:00
SPEAKER_04: My mom's Netflix, the exact same movie was Danny Glover, was the thumbnail.
5:07
SPEAKER_04: So, all of my thumbnails are like young, hot women being half naked, and that was the thumbnail for good girls.
5:14
SPEAKER_04: So for a long time, I did not watch it because I was like, I ain't watching whatever this stupid show is.
5:18
SPEAKER_04: It was like, uh, who's the young one, maybe the blonde or whatever.
5:21
SPEAKER_04: It was like her in a bra with a mask on and like feathers in the air.
5:25
SPEAKER_04: And it was like good girls.
5:26
SPEAKER_04: And I was like, this is dumb.
5:27
SPEAKER_04: I'm not watching that.
5:28
SPEAKER_04: So one day I finally like, okay, let me just let me just press play.
5:31
SPEAKER_04: And it was Christina Hendrix, and they were 36 and they went hijinks.
5:35
SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I've been missing this for a year.
5:37
SPEAKER_04: So that's how I got into it.
5:38
SPEAKER_04: Now you know the whole story.
5:40
SPEAKER_01: I am not surprised about the different thumbnails, and I don't know what Netflix thinks I am.
5:47
SPEAKER_01: I don't know who the fuck they think I am.
5:49
SPEAKER_01: I'm actually gonna go to my Netflix when we're done and look at the thumbnails of all my shows that they like suggesting and like But is it like your profile thumbnail, or is it just the thumbnails of the show?
6:01
SPEAKER_00: Like the little Ah, okay.
6:04
SPEAKER_00: Now I'd have to pay attention.
6:06
SPEAKER_01: I wanna I think they think I'm a middle-aged white man.
6:09
SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't know what they I don't know what the fuck they think I am.
6:12
SPEAKER_01: I think they think I'm a pervert.
6:14
SPEAKER_04: And it makes me mad because see, it is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
6:18
SPEAKER_04: If all you show me is young naked women, I'm like, oh, every show's about young naked women.
6:22
SPEAKER_04: I guess I'll watch one.
6:24
SPEAKER_00: Right.
6:25
unknown: Right.
6:26
SPEAKER_00: Well, Netflix probably thinks I'm a serial killer because all I watch is like true crime shit.
6:30
SPEAKER_04: The FBI on their way.
6:31
SPEAKER_04: All right, I'll stop.
6:32
SPEAKER_00: You might have to stop this early.
6:35
SPEAKER_04: We had the bang, bang, bang on the door pretty soon.
6:38
SPEAKER_04: But after watching the show, we all know how to handle FBI, you know.
6:41
SPEAKER_04: So exactly the opposite of what they do.
6:45
SPEAKER_04: Consistently.
6:46
SPEAKER_04: Consistently.
6:48
SPEAKER_01: I don't know about you, but the second time watching this, this this show was my pick.
6:53
SPEAKER_01: I've watched it when it first aired.
6:56
SPEAKER_01: Watching it now, and by the end of the season, Beth got on my everlasting nerve.
7:01
SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, okay, so I'm not the only one.
7:04
SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh girl, no.
7:06
SPEAKER_04: I felt totally different about the whole show.
7:08
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
7:08
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, team Stan.
7:10
SPEAKER_01: Like Stan got it right.
7:11
SPEAKER_01: Like, Beth needs to be take a seat.
7:14
SPEAKER_01: Take several seats, Beth, somewhere.
7:16
SPEAKER_01: Love Stan.
7:17
SPEAKER_04: Agree.
7:18
SPEAKER_00: How did you feel about it?
7:20
SPEAKER_00: I think that had I just watched it, like binged it or watched it without really getting into each episode, I don't think she would have annoyed me as much.
7:32
SPEAKER_00: But she definitely annoyed the fuck out of me.
7:35
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, the whole time I'm like, Team Stam, Team Hill, like Team Sarah, like let's let's do this.
7:44
SPEAKER_00: Uh, because and at the end, I was like, Team Kevin Scott, whatever the hell his name is.
7:49
SPEAKER_01: Kevin Chris.
7:50
SPEAKER_01: Kevin Chris.
7:50
SPEAKER_00: Chris Kevin.
7:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
7:51
SPEAKER_01: Oh.
7:52
SPEAKER_01: The homeless dude.
7:54
SPEAKER_00: I mean, he was like less annoying and he was eating shit out of the trash.
8:01
SPEAKER_01: I didn't get that at all, but yeah, because I was just like, dude, like I get like when you're homeless, you can't have a job because you need an address.
8:09
SPEAKER_01: But once he had an address, he still was like, I'm not with that.
8:12
SPEAKER_04: He chose that life.
8:13
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, motherfucker, you got me, you got me fucked up.
8:15
SPEAKER_01: Because I'm kind of wondering like, how would someone who's homeless feel about someone who chooses to be homeless?
8:23
SPEAKER_01: That's like a smack in the fucking face.
8:25
SPEAKER_01: It's it's a little condescending, a little like out of touch.
8:30
SPEAKER_01: Sure.
8:31
SPEAKER_00: And I feel like I mean, it's almost he's not taking anybody else with him, right?
8:36
SPEAKER_00: It's his choice.
8:37
SPEAKER_01: No, it's not about like it's not about taking someone with you, but it's just like you have people on the street that would not want to be on the street.
8:44
SPEAKER_01: They would like not to have a drug addiction.
8:47
SPEAKER_01: They would like to not to go through PST PSTD.
8:49
SPEAKER_01: They will like to be able to do that.
8:50
SPEAKER_00: But devil's advocate.
8:51
SPEAKER_00: Just even if Kevin Chris Scott had a home doesn't mean the next person would have a home.
8:57
SPEAKER_01: So well, no, I'm not saying about that, but let me finish.
9:01
SPEAKER_01: You have someone who you're you have people who may not want to be homeless, but situation just like I just can't get out of it.
9:08
SPEAKER_01: And you have this dude that chooses to be homeless.
9:11
SPEAKER_01: That's just that's just like not that him having a home or him-that's like rubbing it in almost.
9:17
SPEAKER_01: Right.
9:17
SPEAKER_01: It's not like him changing his life or change their life.
9:20
SPEAKER_01: No, I'm not saying that, but it's still like, ew.
9:23
SPEAKER_01: I would be offended if I was homeless.
9:25
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I guess that's how I feel with people who have enough money to be like a superhero and instead think that they want to send rockets to Mars.
9:33
SPEAKER_00: Like you could cure world hunger, and instead you think that you want to go live on Mars.
9:38
SPEAKER_01: So I maybe they should live on Mars though.
9:41
SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'll be better off if they move to Mars.
9:44
SPEAKER_01: But anyway.
9:44
SPEAKER_01: But I get it.
9:45
SPEAKER_01: I get what you mean.
9:46
SPEAKER_01: Jamar, we're just babbling on.
9:48
SPEAKER_01: You should be used to us though.
9:49
SPEAKER_04: No, it was good because uh I I haven't heard you like argue in a long time.
9:53
SPEAKER_04: That was great.
9:54
SPEAKER_04: No, I disagree.
9:55
SPEAKER_04: You're wrong.
9:55
SPEAKER_04: Homelessness is great.
9:56
SPEAKER_04: I disagree.
9:57
SPEAKER_04: Homeless is also awful.
9:59
SPEAKER_04: I was like, okay, continue.
10:02
SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying it's great.
10:03
SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying I respect his choice.
10:06
SPEAKER_00: His body, his choice, you know?
10:09
SPEAKER_01: And I think we have the we can say that.
10:10
SPEAKER_01: Other homeless people be like, Mofo, get the fuck out.
10:14
SPEAKER_01: He's perpetrating a fraud.
10:15
SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
10:16
SPEAKER_00: Right, right, right, right.
10:18
SPEAKER_00: Some, you know, some hung up it's a hard to break, I guess.
10:21
SPEAKER_01: Like the Rachel, I can't remember, I can't remember her last name.
10:24
SPEAKER_01: The one who's the she passed herself off as black, Rachel Dozal.
10:27
SPEAKER_01: Oh, Rachel Dozal.
10:28
SPEAKER_01: And then people like, oh yeah, but black people like, wait, you're not?
10:32
SPEAKER_01: Like, any moment when the heat gets too hot, where you're treated like a black person, you're like, oh no, I changed my mind.
10:40
SPEAKER_01: I'm actually white.
10:41
SPEAKER_01: You can she can do that.
10:43
SPEAKER_01: So black people like, yeah.
10:45
SPEAKER_01: It's the same premise of the homeless and non-homeless.
10:48
SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah.
10:49
SPEAKER_01: But you know, she's more black than you.
10:51
SPEAKER_01: She can have um Stacy Dash.
10:54
SPEAKER_01: Like, we'll take her, and you can you can you guys can the white people can have Stacey Dash.
10:57
SPEAKER_04: There are some people I swap with, so I understand that.
10:59
SPEAKER_00: Right.
11:00
SPEAKER_04: I understand that.
11:02
SPEAKER_00: I must sip on my drink right here.
11:04
SPEAKER_04: Candace Owens.
11:05
SPEAKER_04: Candace Owens and Campo.
11:06
SPEAKER_04: Candace Owens.
11:06
SPEAKER_00: That's who I was thinking, but I was like, maybe I should just keep my trap shut.
11:09
SPEAKER_01: But the funny, no, I want to say Candace Owens, but name at the time.
11:14
SPEAKER_01: I couldn't remember um Candace Owens' name for a second.
11:17
SPEAKER_01: For I get that was Freudian.
11:19
SPEAKER_01: So Stacey Dash was the first one that popped in my head.
11:21
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
11:21
SPEAKER_01: Not a bad famous.
11:23
SPEAKER_01: Right.
11:24
SPEAKER_01: Omarosa, you know what?
11:25
SPEAKER_01: I'm not too mad at her because I feel like she doesn't try to be something she's not.
11:30
SPEAKER_01: I think she's using the situation.
11:32
SPEAKER_01: She uses it for what she can and then she'll move on.
11:35
SPEAKER_01: She's like, like, I'm acceptable black until I'm not.
11:38
SPEAKER_01: Okay, I've used you for what I can, and let's go on to the next one.
11:41
SPEAKER_04: I feel like she's just Is she still around?
11:44
SPEAKER_01: I have absolutely no fucking idea.
11:46
SPEAKER_04: Okay, all right.
11:46
SPEAKER_01: No idea.
11:47
SPEAKER_01: No idea.
11:48
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
11:49
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, who fucking knows.
11:51
SPEAKER_01: But I'm not really I I don't hate her as much as I hate Candace Owen.
11:55
SPEAKER_01: Good.
11:56
SPEAKER_01: Because Candy always thinks that she's accepted and she's not.
12:01
SPEAKER_01: I think Omarosa knew she was a prop and she used it to her advantage.
12:04
SPEAKER_01: And I think I could see that.
12:07
SPEAKER_01: I think I think I think she's too smart to think that she was accepted.
12:10
SPEAKER_01: Hi Omarosa.
12:14
SPEAKER_01: Because she's definitely listening to this podcast, of course.
12:17
SPEAKER_04: I mean, Jamar, I have a question for you.
12:19
SPEAKER_04: Oh, me.
12:20
SPEAKER_04: Yes.
12:21
SPEAKER_00: In all the time that you have spent on social media, and I'm not saying that as as I'm assuming that you spend a lot of time.
12:27
SPEAKER_00: It could be any time, right?
12:28
SPEAKER_00: It could be one minute, it could be a hundred hours.
12:30
SPEAKER_04: Most of the day every day.
12:31
SPEAKER_00: How familiar are you with the meme or the whatever?
12:35
SPEAKER_00: Get in the car, Elizabeth.
12:38
SPEAKER_04: I do not know this meme.
12:41
SPEAKER_00: I feel so validated right now.
12:43
SPEAKER_00: It's a gif.
12:44
SPEAKER_01: It's a gif, gif, gif.
12:46
SPEAKER_01: Me, gif, gif.
12:48
SPEAKER_01: Get in the call, Elizabeth.
12:49
SPEAKER_01: You know when Rio was always, he always said, get in the call, Elizabeth.
12:53
SPEAKER_01: And it became popular when the show was airing.
12:56
SPEAKER_01: I didn't remember ever seeing this, although that didn't sound anything like Rio.
12:59
SPEAKER_01: It's like, get in the car, Elizabeth.
13:01
SPEAKER_01: That's that's that's a little bit more.
13:03
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
13:03
SPEAKER_01: You have to sound like it for you to remember it.
13:05
SPEAKER_01: There you go.
13:05
SPEAKER_01: Does that now is it becoming memorable?
13:08
SPEAKER_01: Now that you sound like it.
13:09
SPEAKER_00: When she picked this show, and then and she would say that, and I'm like, I have no idea what you're talking about.
13:16
SPEAKER_00: I I don't know.
13:16
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, no, but like she would say it like if I'm supposed to know.
13:20
SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I don't know.
13:24
SPEAKER_01: So wow.
13:25
SPEAKER_00: So maybe that's why you and I didn't know you're not a woman and I didn't watch it.
13:29
SPEAKER_04: I was a year behind and I watched it alone.
13:32
SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
13:32
SPEAKER_04: That's well, you know what?
13:33
SPEAKER_04: I can tell you why.
13:35
SPEAKER_04: It would not come up in my algorithm.
13:37
SPEAKER_04: Like I watched a show on Netflix, but my Instagram and Facebook and stuff, no, no way would this show ever come up in my feed.
13:44
SPEAKER_04: My feed is always like 19-year-olds doing gymnastics or something.
13:48
SPEAKER_04: And I'm just like, I don't want this.
13:51
SPEAKER_00: Why do you?
13:52
SPEAKER_00: I don't want to know.
13:53
SPEAKER_00: I think I think you do want that.
13:56
SPEAKER_00: Is it not 37-year-old white ladies?
13:59
SPEAKER_00: I mean Yeah, I don't I don't know how to do it.
14:01
SPEAKER_04: I gotta get more 37-year-old white ladies in my in my feed.
14:04
SPEAKER_04: That's the problem.
14:04
SPEAKER_04: But anyway.
14:05
SPEAKER_00: All right.
14:06
SPEAKER_00: We're gonna we'll have to figure out how to help you.
14:08
SPEAKER_01: Well, you have right now, you have almost 50-year-olds all your cookies right here.
14:14
SPEAKER_00: I could help you out some like 40-something-year-old white ladies.
14:17
SPEAKER_04: Okay, that would help.
14:18
SPEAKER_04: I you know what?
14:18
SPEAKER_04: You just answered the question.
14:20
SPEAKER_04: All of my friends are like 28-year-old white women.
14:24
SPEAKER_04: That's what it is.
14:25
SPEAKER_04: Every single one, pretty much.
14:26
SPEAKER_01: Ask them if they know what they know about if they if they haven't watched it.
14:30
SPEAKER_01: Well, actually, when they're 20, they might not have been watching it.
14:32
SPEAKER_01: They were 10 at the time, so they didn't watch it.
14:34
SPEAKER_01: They were watching like Hannah Montana.
14:35
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
14:36
SPEAKER_01: They were not 10 at the time, but yes, they were still too young to watch it.
14:39
SPEAKER_04: I'm bad with math.
14:40
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
14:40
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
14:41
SPEAKER_01: But definitely buy some middle-aged white women.
14:43
SPEAKER_01: I bet you said gonna call Elizabeth.
14:45
SPEAKER_01: They're like, oh, I bet you.
14:47
SPEAKER_01: I like that laugh.
14:48
SPEAKER_01: It doesn't should be.
14:54
SPEAKER_00: What is it like that comes to your mind when you think of the show?
14:57
SPEAKER_00: Because I I so that that's kind of the question that was in my head, but then it made me think of her keep saying, get in the car, Elizabeth.
15:04
SPEAKER_00: And I'm and then it got to the point where when we finally got to that episode, I was like, wow, I feel so let down.
15:09
SPEAKER_00: I was like, It was epiclimatic, bro.
15:11
SPEAKER_00: I was I was really expecting like a moment and it it didn't happen for me.
15:16
SPEAKER_04: Well, it's funny because even though I didn't know the meme, and I think you like what comes in my mind to the show, it is still that.
15:21
SPEAKER_04: So, like, all I care I mean, I I used to be a big Christina Hendrix fan.
15:26
SPEAKER_01: I wonder why.
15:33
SPEAKER_01: Fabulous, she's a fantabulous actor.
15:36
SPEAKER_01: She is a great time.
15:38
SPEAKER_04: Um Mad Men was a lovely show, the second time I actually watched it.
15:42
SPEAKER_04: Um so um, yeah, but connection there.
15:46
SPEAKER_04: To me, the show is just, and I'm gonna ruin my voice, but the entire show is like, oh, to be the man, you gotta beat the man, Elizabeth.
15:55
SPEAKER_04: Oh, you want the top spot?
15:57
SPEAKER_04: I gave you the keys to the castle, Elizabeth.
16:05
SPEAKER_01: That's the whole show to me.
16:07
SPEAKER_01: You know what?
16:08
SPEAKER_01: You're not wrong.
16:08
SPEAKER_01: That's it in a nutshell.
16:10
SPEAKER_01: You wanna be on top?
16:11
SPEAKER_01: You wanna be on top, Elizabeth?
16:13
SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's the entire show.
16:15
SPEAKER_01: Yes, she did.
16:16
SPEAKER_01: She really did want to be on top.
16:17
SPEAKER_01: Oh, you meant in the crime thing.
16:19
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that too.
16:20
SPEAKER_04: She probably had to be otherwise so anyway, that is what comes in mind.
16:24
SPEAKER_04: And that's all I remember about the show.
16:26
SPEAKER_04: Like I said, and that is what I like.
16:29
SPEAKER_00: We're happy.
16:30
SPEAKER_01: We're patsy marking her own bottom with her breath.
16:34
SPEAKER_00: She's gonna send us a cease and desist.
16:36
SPEAKER_00: Hold on.
16:37
SPEAKER_01: We all we have a sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy.
16:40
SPEAKER_01: Nothing wrong with that at all.
16:42
SPEAKER_00: No, yeah.
16:43
SPEAKER_00: Well, if we were a 12-year-old girl, he'd want to hang out with us.
16:46
SPEAKER_00: So that's that's that's not bad, Lisa.
16:49
SPEAKER_01: That really sounds like that didn't sound really that good, but okay.
16:53
SPEAKER_01: And this is why she doesn't pass a paperback.
16:56
SPEAKER_02: Oh that's why?
16:58
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
16:59
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
16:59
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
17:01
SPEAKER_04: That made no sense, but it's Agnes, you being too hard on Lisa.
17:09
SPEAKER_01: You think this is a game?
17:12
SPEAKER_01: Jamar, you can read on me anytime.
17:14
SPEAKER_01: I love him.
17:15
SPEAKER_01: I love him so much.
17:17
SPEAKER_01: Yep, yep, it got worse.
17:19
SPEAKER_04: It got worse.
17:20
SPEAKER_01: That was bad with these Agnes.
17:21
SPEAKER_01: Agnes, that was bad.
17:24
SPEAKER_01: Okay, um, that's the end of our show.
17:28
SPEAKER_04: Back to the show.
17:29
SPEAKER_04: So that that is what he is now takeaway from the whole thing.
18:00
SPEAKER_01: I think the show came on at a good time.
18:03
SPEAKER_01: I don't remember the year it came when it came in, but I I know for me, I would totally rob anything to pay a bill.
18:12
SPEAKER_01: Like, not live in luxury, not buy a yacht, pay an electric bill, pay my cell phone.
18:20
SPEAKER_01: Like, I would rob anything just to pay a fucking bill.
18:23
SPEAKER_01: And I think most of America really felt that way.
18:27
SPEAKER_01: I know I do.
18:29
SPEAKER_04: Shit is hard.
18:30
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, I'm not.
18:31
SPEAKER_04: They, yes.
18:32
SPEAKER_04: It was the uh the flip side of that, because I just watched this, I did do a binge hardcore.
18:37
SPEAKER_04: I was trying I've been trying to watch it for a couple months, and I ended up watching like two and a half seasons in the last few days.
18:43
SPEAKER_04: But um, so the flip side of that, the FBI agent that I didn't like, the one they killed bald head dude.
18:51
SPEAKER_04: Um terrible at basketball, that guy.
18:54
SPEAKER_04: Um, so Elizabeth was whining about like how hard it was, and like she needed the money of her kids, and he was like, Yeah, everybody needs money.
19:03
SPEAKER_04: It's hard to do it legit.
19:04
SPEAKER_04: Like, what do you what do you think this is?
19:06
SPEAKER_04: And that's the flip side, but I agree, like, yeah, it's hard, especially now.
19:09
SPEAKER_04: And I don't know the exact years, but I want to say it it premiered right before the pandemic, and I started catching up during the pandemic, like 2020.
19:18
SPEAKER_04: And and you know, we were all at home, nobody had jobs, everything was shut down.
19:22
SPEAKER_04: You know how you were gonna pay your bills when you're gonna get back to work, and we're watching the show, and you're like, I rob a bitch.
19:28
SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, I I do feel that.
19:31
SPEAKER_04: And you feel that with the women, they're taking care of the kids, they're taking care of the home, the husband's cheating, nothing's going right.
19:38
SPEAKER_04: It was all relatable.
19:40
SPEAKER_04: And at least the first time I watched it in real time, they didn't feel like bad people really.
19:45
SPEAKER_04: It felt justified.
19:46
SPEAKER_04: Watching it the second time around, I felt very different about everybody.
19:51
SPEAKER_01: I felt, I think, say when I first watched it, I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:57
SPEAKER_01: Second time, I'm like, yeah, but you did this wrong.
20:00
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you a dumbass.
20:01
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you didn't have to do that.
20:03
SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm okay with the legal, but you guys made stupid mistakes for no reason.
20:08
SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, and I to your point, like, I guess because there's like a week between it, you're watching it, you don't, you're not getting the full effect of the ins of the stupidity.
20:18
SPEAKER_04: Back to back to back for two, two and a half days or whatever.
20:21
SPEAKER_01: You're like, I can't see, I haven't eaten in two days.
20:25
SPEAKER_04: It's very different.
20:26
SPEAKER_04: Not sleep, but like, no, don't do it, buff.
20:30
SPEAKER_00: But I think the show is really good at highlighting like that old thing about bad person versus bad act.
20:37
SPEAKER_00: Like somebody can do a bad thing, but still be a good person.
20:41
SPEAKER_00: And a bad person can still do a good thing, they're not mutually exclusive.
20:46
SPEAKER_00: And it I think that that's what a lot of people resonated with because especially in the beginning, it's like one person is trying to literally save her kids.
20:56
SPEAKER_00: Save her daughter.
20:57
SPEAKER_00: Right.
20:58
SPEAKER_00: Another person is trying to keep uh roof over their head, food on the table for their kids.
21:04
SPEAKER_00: Um I don't remember exactly what Annie's thing was.
21:09
SPEAKER_00: She was just the lawyer.
21:10
SPEAKER_00: The lawyer custody lawyer.
21:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:12
SPEAKER_01: Oh, and that turned out to be a non-issue.
21:14
SPEAKER_01: It's funny how that turned out to be a non-issue.
21:16
SPEAKER_01: It kind of just went to the wayside.
21:18
SPEAKER_01: I forgot about that until you mentioned it.
21:19
SPEAKER_01: Yep.
21:20
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:21
SPEAKER_00: But it's like every I think ninety-seven percent of the population can find something where they're struggling with where robbing a fucking supermarket would be a quick answer.
21:35
SPEAKER_00: It would feel like it would solve all of your problems and you could actually sleep that night and not You know what I mean?
21:42
SPEAKER_00: Not that not that.
21:43
SPEAKER_01: Rob Peter to pay Paul.
21:45
SPEAKER_00: Not that I'm necessarily advocating for like burglary, but but I get it.
21:49
SPEAKER_00: I get it.
21:50
SPEAKER_00: And they're they were good people who needed to do good girls.
21:54
SPEAKER_00: Bad things.
21:54
SPEAKER_00: There were very good girls.
21:56
SPEAKER_00: There you go.
21:58
SPEAKER_00: But I think that it definitely highlighted a lot of the struggles that you know, and that and that was like the draw of the show is like, oh shit, like maybe we could do this, maybe we could make money.
22:12
SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously can't, but well, I can't.
22:16
SPEAKER_01: I mean I'm sure there's a way.
22:18
SPEAKER_01: Let me stop.
22:19
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
22:20
SPEAKER_03: I'm like working out the I'm working out the details.
22:23
SPEAKER_01: Like if I could find a twelve year old hacker.
22:25
SPEAKER_01: Because it seems like you have to be 12 to be able to hack today.
22:28
SPEAKER_01: Right.
22:29
SPEAKER_01: And just give me like a penny from every rich account every 30 seconds.
22:36
SPEAKER_00: If you pulled a dollar out of every person's account in the US, I would have no more problems.
22:43
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
22:44
SPEAKER_01: No.
22:45
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wouldn't want to pull a dollar from someone who's a big one.
22:48
SPEAKER_01: I'd rather pick a penny from every rich person every 30 seconds for an hour.
22:53
SPEAKER_01: I would just pick one dollar from everyone's account one time.
22:57
SPEAKER_00: I would be set.
22:58
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm sure the banking fees cost more than that.
23:00
SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, why don't you say you're not wrong?
23:02
SPEAKER_00: So just give them to me.
23:04
SPEAKER_00: I'll feed the homeless and buy myself a new car.
23:08
SPEAKER_01: I just want enough to pay my bills and not have to be up every single night.
23:12
SPEAKER_01: I'm not greedy.
23:18
SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
23:19
SPEAKER_04: I didn't get to see all of the last two uh seasons today or yesterday or whatever.
23:23
SPEAKER_04: But does the show play with that line where it goes from we have to have this to like now we some boss bitches and we're just taking it?
23:30
SPEAKER_01: I don't know that it never gets that far because it's always a da it's always something that pulls them back and they still gotta struggle just to keep their head above water.
23:38
SPEAKER_00: And usually it's because stupid mistakes Beth had decided.
23:42
SPEAKER_00: But it touches on it, right?
23:44
SPEAKER_00: Because when they first do like Annie goes and buys the car, and then they're like, Oh yeah, the first five seconds.
23:48
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
23:49
SPEAKER_00: She was dumb.
23:50
SPEAKER_00: Beth bought the jewelry.
23:52
SPEAKER_00: So I think that like it it touched on it, but it didn't stay there.
23:56
SPEAKER_01: It It touched on it for like five minutes of an episode, and then it went real bad real quick.
24:02
SPEAKER_01: It was actually real life, it's actually real life where you're you're doing good, you're making moves, you're doing the best you can, you're adulting exceptionally well, and then life is like here, oh my boy, I got something for you.
24:15
SPEAKER_01: And it just took it to like a condensed version, so it's really ex it was bigger than that.
24:21
SPEAKER_03: But yeah.
24:24
SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, my brain shut down.
24:26
SPEAKER_01: I forgot my next thought.
24:27
SPEAKER_01: Ignore me, move on.
24:30
SPEAKER_00: I wonder how many people actually went and tried to uh like shred their$1 bills and make counterfeit money after this show.
24:40
SPEAKER_01: I have a question about that.
24:42
SPEAKER_03: All right.
24:43
SPEAKER_01: I c it wouldn't have been easier just to take the die off the bill and then reprint the bill.
24:48
SPEAKER_01: But I guess since they're already working in a stationary store, shredding it and remaking it would have been easier.
24:53
SPEAKER_01: Okay, never mind.
24:53
SPEAKER_04: Not that I've thought about it, just to think I I do have a so I was that was one of the things I was thinking the last two days is trying to keep up with what they were actually doing.
25:05
SPEAKER_04: Because they don't really tell you much until I guess the last season or third season where you see how what they're doing, whatever, like what they're doing.
25:12
SPEAKER_04: Anyway, but first of all, it kind of didn't make sense a little bit, and I gotta I gotta a thing here.
25:19
SPEAKER_04: It didn't make sense a little bit that their whole thing was cleaning the money by using the money because you're putting the money in circulation and it still gotta go to the bank, and if the bank can get the money and know that it's not real, they're gonna track that down.
25:31
SPEAKER_04: It's sort of the same thing.
25:33
SPEAKER_04: I I never really got what the goal was there.
25:36
SPEAKER_04: But then the second thing is I actually know people who did do this many, many years ago, and you get caught.
25:42
SPEAKER_04: Uh only only one person got busted, but very like when they first like switched the money maybe 20 years ago when they made it a little colorful and big faces and stuff at the end of that period.
25:54
SPEAKER_04: My like old like high school friends and middle school friends, like young boys, actually just did it on regular computers, and they would just ball it up a long time to make it feel really soft and stuff, and then they would spend it on regular stuff.
26:08
SPEAKER_04: They would like buy weed or go to the corner store.
26:11
SPEAKER_04: But once enough got in circulation, there was a big article published in Florida that said 90% of the new money in Florida is counterfeit, and they tracked it to one of my friends and the FBI got him.
26:23
SPEAKER_04: So I'm watching it's like this you get like maybe a year before they get you.
26:28
SPEAKER_00: I I guess I understand the the theory about small bills in like big stores because it's it's probably harder to track it when it's you know, like small things.
26:42
SPEAKER_00: But I yeah, I can't imagine that they're not gonna catch up with you.
26:46
SPEAKER_01: Especially it does get caught.
26:48
SPEAKER_01: You're like, it's like you said, in a year you're gonna get caught.
26:53
SPEAKER_00: I knew I knew somebody whose friend used to counterfeit a lot of tens.
26:58
SPEAKER_00: They used to counterfeit the$10 bills.
27:01
SPEAKER_00: And I remember um where I worked in the city, this was like the early 2000s, and they're like, Oh yeah, um, do you wanna buy any?
27:11
SPEAKER_00: And I remember thinking like I I don't I I feel like it was like you could buy the tens for like five dollars or something.
27:18
SPEAKER_00: It was not like whatever.
27:20
SPEAKER_00: And I'm and I remember thinking about it, and I was like, nah, I'm a chicken shit.
27:24
SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't even know what they're gonna look like.
27:26
SPEAKER_01: And now the best way to do it, if you're gonna clean counterfeit bills, you have to do a little bit, sprinkle it around the country.
27:34
SPEAKER_01: But of course, that way they won't be like, oh, there's a big influx in Miami Beach.
27:40
SPEAKER_01: You just sprinkle a little bit here.
27:42
SPEAKER_01: And it's actually easier to clean, because it's a rich people game, it's easier to clean illegal gotten money as opposed to in fake money.
27:51
SPEAKER_01: I agree with that, yeah.
27:53
SPEAKER_01: But uh, but I'm just not that I would know.
27:56
SPEAKER_01: Because I know I would not be on this fucking podcast.
27:58
SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Lisa.
27:58
SPEAKER_01: I'd be in the beach somewhere.
28:00
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
28:00
SPEAKER_00: I don't blame you.
28:01
SPEAKER_00: But it that I mean that makes sense.
28:03
SPEAKER_01: And there's also a rich person's game, and rich people really don't get caught or they don't get reprimanded.
28:08
SPEAKER_01: They don't get reprimanded.
28:09
SPEAKER_01: They get caught.
28:09
SPEAKER_00: Well, I know that also working in retail, there are times where a counterfeit does come in and then it's an issue, right?
28:19
SPEAKER_00: Like when the manager sees that counterfeit built, they have they call the bank, they have to document it.
28:25
SPEAKER_00: So now, like, it's already on record.
28:29
SPEAKER_00: Now, so like you don't know where it came from.
28:31
SPEAKER_00: So if you're if you're talking about illegal money versus fake money, the fake money is flagged once it's noticed.
28:37
SPEAKER_00: Illegal money it it passes through until it's like somebody's books don't add up.
28:43
SPEAKER_03: Correct.
28:43
SPEAKER_00: You know, and that's yeah, so you know, it's yeah.
28:47
SPEAKER_04: I don't I mean, I know that was Rio's thing, but it was weird of all the things they could do that that was even what they chose to do.
28:54
SPEAKER_04: I know he started them in that game, but it was like, you know, with all the drugs, just laundering money, period.
29:00
SPEAKER_04: Like, that was a risky game to begin with, but you know, whatever, it's a show.
29:05
SPEAKER_01: I think it's a little palatable for viewers to as opposed to drugs.
29:11
SPEAKER_01: I agree.
29:11
SPEAKER_01: That like people like, oh, I can watch about women cleaning, like making fake money.
29:16
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's cool.
29:17
SPEAKER_01: That's you know, that's and that's acceptable.
29:19
SPEAKER_01: And I didn't even think about that until you said it.
29:21
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, like it's kind of weird for this dude to be on a counterfeit thing, not drugs, not sex.
29:29
SPEAKER_00: But I have I have an an idea also.
29:31
SPEAKER_00: What if it was because it's easier to catch?
29:36
SPEAKER_00: So like people are people who's gonna get a bright idea off of the show and they're gonna go start counterfeiting them.
29:42
SPEAKER_04: I see what you're saying.
29:42
SPEAKER_00: Right?
29:43
SPEAKER_00: It might it might be the more responsible, illegal thing to promote on TV because it's not as it's not as dangerous.
29:51
SPEAKER_01: 90% of the TV shows need to be put off the air because it's yeah, right.
29:55
SPEAKER_00: No, listen.
29:57
SPEAKER_00: Ozark and and other shows that are popular, even at the same time, they're they're doing illegal shit.
30:03
SPEAKER_01: But for like regular network television, it's a safe, you know.
30:07
SPEAKER_01: I think maybe it was a safer medium because it's illegal, but we don't want them to get caught, but we still want people not to do stupid shit.
30:15
SPEAKER_00: Right.
30:15
SPEAKER_00: And if they do do the stupid shit, like we're gonna catch them pretty quickly.
30:19
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because they're gonna be really stupid.
30:21
SPEAKER_01: Because if they're watching this, they're not smart enough to be with so funny because I have a there is in my job, someone might be trying to use the job, a customer may be trying to use the job to hide money.
30:37
SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't work that way with the business.
30:39
SPEAKER_01: Like, we can't the money has to go back to you.
30:42
SPEAKER_01: And if it doesn't, it goes back to the the state, and the state will either you know it's it doesn't sit there for indefinitely, you know.
30:50
SPEAKER_01: But um, and I'm like, oh no, if you want to do if you wanted to hire money, this is how you would do it.
30:55
SPEAKER_01: And I'm thinking to myself, like, what the fuck is wrong with me?
30:59
SPEAKER_04: Because has anyone seen Sicario a long time ago, whenever he came out.
31:04
SPEAKER_01: So there was a scene, um, I think I think it was the first one.
31:08
SPEAKER_01: So of course you have to you already have to have a shitload of money, and you already kind of have to have legal standing, like legal money.
31:16
SPEAKER_01: But the high the illegal money is you take a loan out from the bank for let's say$100,000.
31:22
SPEAKER_01: You pay that loan because the bank is like, and you keep paying that$100,000, but you keep paying past the loan.
31:29
SPEAKER_01: You're gonna pay$200,000,$300,000,$300,000,$500,000 into that loan.
31:34
SPEAKER_01: You now have, you've already paid a loan and you still have negative$300,000 just sitting in the bank because you paid this loan.
31:44
SPEAKER_01: And banks the federal government only monitors$100,000 over, like on the plus side, they don't monitor if you have a negative balance.
31:55
SPEAKER_01: Meaning you like the bank owes you a half a million dollars.
31:59
SPEAKER_01: So you could throw in a half a million dollars into the bank, and the federal government would ever would never see that.
32:05
SPEAKER_01: So you're overpaying your loan.
32:07
SPEAKER_01: So you're hiding money.
32:08
SPEAKER_00: I feel like somebody would catch on to that though.
32:11
SPEAKER_01: But you know, you change banks every so often.
32:12
SPEAKER_01: First of all, you have to have the bank, the the the you have to have some can't it can't be uh a huge bank.
32:18
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I have a$400 credit with my trash company, and they were like, hey, uh, what are we doing here?
32:24
SPEAKER_01: You can't have like a city bank or a chase.
32:27
SPEAKER_01: You have to have a local neighborhood bank, and you have to have people in your pocket, but you're talking about like drug cartels that are hiding their money.
32:35
SPEAKER_01: This is what that's what the card was about, the drug cartels.
32:37
SPEAKER_01: That's how he was hiding, that's how he was laundering his money.
32:40
SPEAKER_01: So you you have a small privately bank in a small little rinkedy town where you own the bank manager because it's a mom and pop bank.
32:47
SPEAKER_01: So I was like, I've been thinking about that a lot since I watched that movie.
32:52
SPEAKER_04: So I'm like, it's a little scary how into this you are.
32:54
SPEAKER_04: I don't even remember the movie.
32:55
SPEAKER_04: Oh, I saw it.
32:56
SPEAKER_04: I know where I saw it.
32:57
SPEAKER_04: I was in Florida.
32:58
SPEAKER_04: I do not remember this at all.
33:00
SPEAKER_01: It was just that part was interesting to me.
33:02
SPEAKER_01: I was like, okay, if I'm gonna do something illegal, I want to make sure I don't get caught.
33:05
SPEAKER_01: So I kind of pick up on the stuff that I won't get caught.
33:08
SPEAKER_01: Now the federal government thinks to our podcast, I can't do that.
33:11
SPEAKER_01: So there's that.
33:13
SPEAKER_01: Our podcast is so popular.
33:15
SPEAKER_04: Hopping.
33:16
SPEAKER_04: I know.
33:17
SPEAKER_00: Hopping.
33:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
33:21
SPEAKER_00: What about like the character arcs?
33:26
SPEAKER_00: Who do you think had the most growth?
33:28
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know, I I know I want to say.
33:31
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so say it.
33:32
SPEAKER_01: Well, Jamal's our guest.
33:33
SPEAKER_01: He's family, he gets to go first.
33:35
unknown: Okay.
33:36
SPEAKER_04: Sure.
33:36
SPEAKER_04: I haven't had a chance to think about it.
33:38
SPEAKER_04: I would I would um I don't know that growth has to be a good thing, right?
33:43
SPEAKER_04: Like you can you can, I guess that's devolve or something.
33:47
SPEAKER_04: Um, because I just watching it quickly like I was someone in the black household.
33:55
SPEAKER_04: So that's uh Ruby and Stan.
33:58
SPEAKER_04: See, in my head, I don't know anybody's names.
33:59
SPEAKER_04: I'm really bad.
34:00
SPEAKER_04: And Stan plays that same role in every show.
34:03
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I call him uh tall Kevin Hart in my life.
34:08
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
34:09
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
34:10
SPEAKER_04: He's always a security guard or a cop, and he's very good at it.
34:12
SPEAKER_04: He's like super talented at that exact same role in every show.
34:15
SPEAKER_04: Um, but I I want to say somebody in his household, so him or his wife.
34:20
SPEAKER_04: Um and but I don't want to call it growth because typically when you think of growth, it's like somebody, like maybe like uh, I don't know, the little sister, like like her thing, like you know, she was kind of a mess up by the end.
34:31
SPEAKER_04: Maybe she was a decent person, has to figure out.
34:33
SPEAKER_04: But no, uh Ruby, that's the wife, right?
34:36
SPEAKER_04: Where she was like the perfect homemaker, and by the end, she's kind of like a bad bitch who's kind of dominant, and she's kind of like a real criminal.
34:44
SPEAKER_04: She kind of is growing into like this criminal mastermind almost, and still under the guise of like, I'm trying to pay for her pills.
34:51
SPEAKER_04: She's gonna be sick.
34:52
SPEAKER_04: But even when she's like, he was like, Woman, you're gonna give me my money back.
34:55
SPEAKER_04: And she was like, Oh, what?
34:56
SPEAKER_04: He said, Oh, nothing.
34:57
SPEAKER_04: You're gonna give my money back.
34:58
SPEAKER_04: And she, next thing she's like, we gonna rob Stan.
35:01
SPEAKER_04: I was just like, whoa! So like she just went from like this sweet, innocent, beautiful mom to like, uh, I don't know, you know, we didn't get to see the end of the series where it would go.
35:12
SPEAKER_04: But it ended up with like Beth dead or in prison, and now Ruby's the new boss of something, that would not have been shocking to me.
35:20
SPEAKER_04: So I'm just gonna say her without having time to really think about it.
35:24
SPEAKER_01: My guess, uh, and I was actually on the same wavelength as you as far as growth, not necessarily growth, growth, but like change.
35:33
SPEAKER_01: Change ch Stan.
35:35
SPEAKER_01: Stan went from we're gonna do the right thing, and he was and to, all right, if you're gonna do this, we're gonna do this right.
35:45
SPEAKER_01: From doing the right thing from doing it right.
35:48
SPEAKER_01: But ultimately, he still was the same Stan.
35:50
SPEAKER_01: Like he was the most changed, but still himself.
35:54
SPEAKER_01: Like, it was his wife, his family, he had her back.
35:58
SPEAKER_01: Although in that last episode, he was like, Well, we're going to Nevada, you follow us if you want.
36:03
SPEAKER_01: I still think if they had a chance to finish it, it would have been totally different.
36:07
SPEAKER_01: I really think ultimately Stan had Ruby's back.
36:11
SPEAKER_01: He had his family's back.
36:13
SPEAKER_01: And he was looking kind of scrumptious in his like tight short sleeve shirt bouncer outfit.
36:19
SPEAKER_03: And he was figured.
36:20
SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, you as like cleans up very well.
36:24
SPEAKER_01: Well, oh, cleaned up kind of dirty down really well.
36:27
SPEAKER_01: Because when he was like the bouncer at the strip club.
36:29
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh.
36:31
SPEAKER_01: And something about him, like, if we're gonna do bad, we're gonna do it right.
36:35
SPEAKER_01: And I like that because the simple fact that he changed with it, but he still was the same person as core.
36:41
SPEAKER_00: He was almost like my choice for for a lot of those reasons, but then ironically, for the reasons that Jamar talked about for Ruby, my choice is Beth.
36:54
SPEAKER_00: And here's the difference for me is that Beth went into like the first C.
37:00
SPEAKER_04: Oh, you might be right, sorry.
37:02
SPEAKER_00: What?
37:03
SPEAKER_04: I said you might be right, sorry, I thought about it.
37:04
SPEAKER_04: It was like it's the same thing, but Beth is more extreme.
37:06
SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
37:07
SPEAKER_00: Beth, Beth was more extreme, and I think that w when you get to the end, Beth realizes that she never wants to go back to her old life.
37:16
SPEAKER_00: Whereas Ruby and Stan still are those people at their heart, and they would they would give up all the criminal shit in a heartbeat just to have their family unit intact.
37:28
SPEAKER_00: And I think that that's even in the in the last episode when they do the like that weird dream sequence.
37:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was like you know, her downfall was Sarah's health because to her her family is always like first and foremost.
37:45
SPEAKER_00: Whereas Beth is like, she's still fucking thinking about robbing shit.
37:49
SPEAKER_00: I think so.
37:50
SPEAKER_00: For me, that would be my answer.
37:52
SPEAKER_00: Is like she just she realizes no, she but she wants to live the life of prime, she wants to be that bad bitch, and like she she has like no more qualms about holding a gun and and and doing all this fucked up shit and lying to her husband and you know, hanging out like yeah, throwing shit, you know, and threatening other people's kids.
38:14
SPEAKER_00: And it's like bitch, do you know what you're doing now?
38:17
SPEAKER_00: But okay.
38:18
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I I I co-sign that.
38:20
SPEAKER_01: I like that.
38:21
SPEAKER_00: I thank you.
38:23
SPEAKER_01: Here's a funny thought though.
38:24
SPEAKER_01: Here's a devil's advocate, but not against you, but just to throw it out there to the universe who's listening.
38:29
SPEAKER_01: Do you think see she could she make that change because she had that because she had the privilege to be able to make that change?
38:35
SPEAKER_01: Do you think Ruby would be able to make that change if you wanted to?
38:38
SPEAKER_01: I'm not I it's no answer to this.
38:40
SPEAKER_01: Really absolutely no answer.
38:41
SPEAKER_01: I don't put the answer to it.
38:43
SPEAKER_01: I just feel like I just like she has a little bit more freeway.
38:47
SPEAKER_01: Right.
38:47
SPEAKER_01: You're probably right.
38:49
SPEAKER_01: But I like that, but I like I didn't think I mean I thought about Beth at the Yeah.
38:53
SPEAKER_01: I feel like it was just I don't know.
38:54
SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's her show, it's clearly her show, so she's kind of has to be the answer.
38:59
SPEAKER_04: It's all from her perspective, her point of view, features her, it's her family.
39:03
SPEAKER_04: Um I think the only reason I didn't say Beth, although I liked it after uh listening to Lisa, is because Beth is kind of the Walter White of the show, as in Breaking Bad, if you watch it or not.
39:15
SPEAKER_04: And with Walter White, and I think maybe with Beth too, he was always Heisenberg.
39:21
SPEAKER_04: He just happened to be this cancer chemistry teacher, and as soon as he got the second, the flip was overnight.
39:28
SPEAKER_04: And I kind of see like Beth too, where it was just like she's playing homemaker, she's pretending to love her husband.
39:34
SPEAKER_04: She even said, I don't know if I ever loved him.
39:36
SPEAKER_04: She was always that person.
39:37
SPEAKER_04: So it was almost like an overnight flip.
39:39
SPEAKER_04: And I she did have to grow into like holding a gun, but man, she couldn't wait to like be this person.
39:45
SPEAKER_04: So it was more like we saw the growth, but that person was always there.
39:50
SPEAKER_04: Little by little we saw it through four seasons, but also that's who she always was.
39:54
SPEAKER_04: So it's it's really interesting.
39:55
SPEAKER_04: And I think they do go back and talk about a little bit when they're arguing the sisters, like who she was as a child.
40:00
SPEAKER_04: And you kind of hear a story here and there, like, oh, she was a bad bitch when they were like 12.
40:04
SPEAKER_04: Okay.
40:04
SPEAKER_04: Uh so but it's interesting.
40:06
SPEAKER_04: It's a it's a it's a real show.
40:08
SPEAKER_04: It's a real show, and I don't think it was as popular as it should have been.
40:10
SPEAKER_04: Like when I talk to most people about it, they don't know what I'm talking about, and they'll be like, oh, maybe I'll check it out.
40:15
SPEAKER_00: So And I wonder if there was never a pandemic, would it would things have been different?
40:20
SPEAKER_00: Ironically, when we all had time to stay home and watch TV, I wonder if that actually hurt them.
40:26
SPEAKER_00: Because it took people out of their routine.
40:28
SPEAKER_04: So you know, like you might be right.
40:30
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
40:31
SPEAKER_01: And so I don't know if you heard, but breaking bad is actually is this still gonna be the next one?
40:36
SPEAKER_01: Is is the next Assassin's Sips episode.
40:41
SPEAKER_00: Well, that was it's my pick again.
40:43
SPEAKER_00: And Agnes was like, fuck Breaking Bad and fuck you, I'm out.
40:47
SPEAKER_01: So But the funny thing is, I wanted okay, the funny thing we're talking about, she wanted to do either Breaking Bad or Sons of Anarchy.
40:54
SPEAKER_01: Sons of Anarchy.
40:55
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh, I'll watch Sons of Anarchy.
40:57
SPEAKER_01: She's like, no, no, no, no, we're gonna do Breaking Bad.
40:59
SPEAKER_01: So I ended up watching Sons of Anarchy on my own.
41:03
SPEAKER_01: I, oh my fucking God.
41:05
SPEAKER_01: I totally said, like, listen, I'm glad we didn't do it for a show because I when you're watching a show to enjoy it as opposed to watching a show to do a podcast, is a totally different vibe.
41:16
SPEAKER_04: I agree.
41:16
SPEAKER_01: So I was like, oh, I'm so glad that I watched it on my own because I felt at the when the series ended, I lost family members.
41:24
SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel like I miss I'm missing, like it don't tell me, I never finished it.
41:30
SPEAKER_04: I didn't finish the last season.
41:31
SPEAKER_01: But the fact that the show is not there anymore.
41:33
SPEAKER_01: I feel like I'm I don't have and I don't know if I want to see um I never watched it.
41:38
SPEAKER_01: Um The Mayance.
41:39
SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if I want to see that.
41:40
SPEAKER_01: I never watched that one.
41:42
SPEAKER_01: But right now I'm watching The Lioness.
41:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
41:44
SPEAKER_00: Well, lucky for the.
41:45
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, shot here.
41:46
SPEAKER_01: Cool.
41:47
SPEAKER_00: Alex also hasn't seen Breaking Bad, so my pick can stick with a big one.
41:51
SPEAKER_01: So yes, so Alex will not be continuing.
41:53
SPEAKER_01: I'm only actually wrapping up some previous um commitments that we've already made with the guest spots and stuff.
42:02
SPEAKER_01: But yes, Agnes has tapped out of Assassin's Zips.
42:06
SPEAKER_01: Tapped out.
42:07
SPEAKER_01: I have tapped out.
42:09
SPEAKER_01: I am turning in my I'm hanging up my headphones.
42:14
SPEAKER_01: I know.
42:15
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go.
42:15
SPEAKER_04: It's been like 10 years, so you know sad.
42:19
SPEAKER_04: Almost eight.
42:20
SPEAKER_04: Congrats as you move on.
42:23
SPEAKER_01: But I will be available if Lisa needs me for a guest spot.
42:26
SPEAKER_01: I love a guest spot.
42:27
SPEAKER_04: Don't like turn to a life of crime because I don't know what you're doing.
42:31
SPEAKER_04: No excuses.
42:33
SPEAKER_00: Don't if you if she takes up knitting, I'm gonna start to worry.
42:39
SPEAKER_00: I'm making a what are you making there?
42:41
SPEAKER_01: Nothing, Lisa! Nothing.
42:44
SPEAKER_04: That's hilarious.
42:45
unknown: Yeah.
42:46
SPEAKER_01: I also learned from watching something, I don't remember what it was.
42:49
SPEAKER_01: Was it?
42:49
SPEAKER_01: I don't remember, but if you're gonna wear gloves to commit crime, make sure the gloves you wear don't have their own print.
42:55
SPEAKER_01: Like don't wear leather gloves.
42:56
SPEAKER_01: Like something that doesn't have its own particular print.
42:59
SPEAKER_04: Oh, I see what you're saying.
43:00
SPEAKER_04: Gotcha.
43:01
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
43:01
unknown: Okay.
43:02
SPEAKER_04: Um, for no reason that any of us should know this.
43:05
SPEAKER_04: Just random chit-chat.
43:08
SPEAKER_04: Just all academic.
43:09
SPEAKER_01: Right.
43:10
SPEAKER_04: Your honor.
43:11
SPEAKER_01: A C I S.
43:11
SPEAKER_01: I was A C I S.
43:13
SPEAKER_01: That's what it was, yes.
43:14
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
43:16
SPEAKER_00: Alright, so let's just talk about the finale.
43:19
SPEAKER_00: I know Agnes and I talked about this, but you know, I um and her and I basically agreed that the finale didn't quite feel like a finale, or or at least a series finale.
43:32
SPEAKER_00: Although I'm I guess I'm okay with how it wrapped up considering that they didn't really get the opportunity to finish.
43:39
SPEAKER_00: But Jamar, what are your thoughts on that?
43:42
SPEAKER_04: So I didn't get to.
43:44
SPEAKER_04: Well, go.
43:45
SPEAKER_04: What who's reminding?
43:46
SPEAKER_01: Do you need a reminder on the last episode?
43:48
SPEAKER_01: You did watch it when it first aired, though, right?
43:50
SPEAKER_04: But yeah, I watched it when it first aired.
43:52
SPEAKER_04: Uh I tried to watch it just today, and it was crazy to jump from like, I don't know, end of season three to the end of the series.
43:59
SPEAKER_04: I totally forgot that like Rio had a brother who was president of Cuba or whatever.
44:05
SPEAKER_04: Um and I like that character a lot.
44:07
SPEAKER_04: He was one of my favorite characters because we didn't know what Rio was doing, who he was connected to.
44:12
SPEAKER_04: It's the only other time we saw like a bigger boss or whatever.
44:15
SPEAKER_04: Um, and like the only time you've seen Rio kind of like be uh beneath somebody or like subservient or something, or like even respectful or whatever.
44:24
SPEAKER_04: Um, but it and Then I forgot they were all in politics and stuff, and Beth was I forgot any of that happened.
44:30
SPEAKER_04: Um, as you you've mentioned, it's clear that was not meant to be the series finale.
44:35
SPEAKER_04: So it doesn't wrap up anything.
44:37
SPEAKER_04: It is the most open of of everything.
44:40
SPEAKER_04: I think unlike some things, they get canceled, they got canceled, and you kind of know you're gonna get canceled, and they try to wrap it up as much as possible.
44:47
SPEAKER_04: I don't think they knew they were getting canceled as they were riding and shooting.
44:51
SPEAKER_04: They did.
44:51
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so it's just wide open, and um it it couldn't be more open.
44:56
SPEAKER_04: This is definitely like a cliffhanger.
44:58
SPEAKER_04: What happens next?
44:59
SPEAKER_04: Who's in Nevada or wherever else, and what are they gonna do?
45:02
SPEAKER_04: So uh Beth gets shot, of course.
45:04
SPEAKER_04: That's a clear cliffhanger type thing, and has like a dream sequence.
45:08
SPEAKER_04: Um, so I didn't like that.
45:11
SPEAKER_04: Um this is this is outside of the show.
45:14
SPEAKER_04: Do you know why they didn't come back?
45:15
SPEAKER_04: Because I read something years ago, and I do you know about why they didn't come back?
45:19
SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
45:20
SPEAKER_01: No, I know I read uh when it happened because I was pissed, but I don't remember what it was.
45:26
SPEAKER_04: So of course the the network is gonna cite ratings and decline and viewership and change, blah, blah, blah.
45:32
SPEAKER_04: But all of the stars agreed to take like almost no money because they wanted to wrap it up and do another so they were getting ready to do season five because they all agreed to take no money because they thought the show was that important they needed to finish it right.
45:46
SPEAKER_04: One person held out.
45:48
SPEAKER_04: Do you know who the one person was?
45:50
SPEAKER_01: Who was it?
45:52
SPEAKER_04: No guess?
45:53
SPEAKER_04: No, it was Rio.
45:55
SPEAKER_04: I don't know his name.
45:57
SPEAKER_01: It was Monday.
45:58
SPEAKER_04: And do you know why?
46:01
SPEAKER_01: Why?
46:01
SPEAKER_04: He said, I will never fucking work with Christina Hendricks again.
46:04
SPEAKER_04: I hate her.
46:05
SPEAKER_04: You can't pay me enough money to wait work with her.
46:07
SPEAKER_01: Oh.
46:09
SPEAKER_01: Is that why there was less episodes with them together?
46:12
SPEAKER_01: I feel like from the beginning there was less and less of them together.
46:15
SPEAKER_04: Probably.
46:16
SPEAKER_04: And I didn't get any more news than that, but that was all I got, whatever, years ago.
46:20
SPEAKER_01: It really wasn't about the show.
46:21
SPEAKER_01: He wasn't holding out because he for principle, he just didn't want to work with her.
46:25
SPEAKER_04: Her.
46:25
SPEAKER_04: He was like, I nope.
46:26
SPEAKER_01: And he So she would have held out.
46:28
SPEAKER_01: If she would have said, no, I'm tapping out, he would have just like, I'm fine, I work for free.
46:32
SPEAKER_04: He would have done it, probably.
46:33
SPEAKER_01: Holy mother of balls.
46:35
SPEAKER_00: All right.
46:37
SPEAKER_04: I don't know what happened.
46:38
SPEAKER_04: I don't know what happened.
46:39
SPEAKER_04: I want to know what happened, but I don't know.
46:41
SPEAKER_01: I might have to do a uh a deep dive.
46:43
SPEAKER_01: Go another rabbit roll.
46:45
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
46:45
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
46:46
SPEAKER_01: Because I did know that there was less and less episodes with them together.
46:50
SPEAKER_01: Right.
46:50
SPEAKER_01: Right.
46:51
SPEAKER_00: Because if she started moving over towards Nick and Mick, and I'm not mad at that either.
46:57
SPEAKER_00: No.
46:58
SPEAKER_00: But but now it makes a little bit more sense.
47:01
SPEAKER_01: Holy Mother of Balls.
47:03
SPEAKER_01: You are fucking amazing.
47:04
SPEAKER_01: And this is why you're our favorite guest on Sassin's.
47:07
SPEAKER_01: Oh.
47:07
SPEAKER_04: I just stay up all night long googling random things that pop up my head.
47:11
SPEAKER_04: But why would they bring my favorite show back?
47:13
SPEAKER_04: Come back.
47:15
SPEAKER_00: Well, after they hear this, they're gonna have to.
47:18
SPEAKER_00: Holy Mother of Balls.
47:19
SPEAKER_00: Except Christina Hendrix, apparently.
47:22
SPEAKER_04: And yeah, it makes me look at her differently, although I shouldn't, I have no idea, but I'm like, I thought she was a nice lady.
47:27
SPEAKER_04: What's going on?
47:29
SPEAKER_01: Holy God.
47:31
SPEAKER_01: Did you ever watch Graceland?
47:32
SPEAKER_01: It was like a show where you were saying.
47:34
SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, I did not watch it.
47:35
SPEAKER_01: And he was on there too.
47:37
SPEAKER_01: And I didn't like, like, he wasn't as sexy as he was on this one.
47:39
SPEAKER_01: Like, same character.
47:40
SPEAKER_01: He looked the same, but his character is a little bit different.
47:42
SPEAKER_01: The guy that does that, yep.
47:44
SPEAKER_01: And I was just like, damn.
47:45
SPEAKER_01: Like he like the fact that just because the character changed, he looked a little bit different, but he really did it.
47:49
SPEAKER_01: Like, I take that as like, you are an amazing actor.
47:52
SPEAKER_01: Like he just I I love him.
47:55
SPEAKER_01: Although there was a lot of sexy guys on Graceland.
47:58
SPEAKER_01: Um didn't catch it.
48:01
SPEAKER_04: Didn't catch that one.
48:02
SPEAKER_01: But I didn't have middle-aged white women on it.
48:04
SPEAKER_04: So it'll never pop up.
48:06
SPEAKER_01: So cold Graceland didn't have middle-aged white women?
48:09
SPEAKER_01: They had young, hot white women on it, though.
48:11
SPEAKER_04: So I would get the thumbnail, but uh I probably wouldn't watch it.
48:17
SPEAKER_01: I'm so gonna look at the thumbnails now.
48:19
SPEAKER_01: Like, and we'll try to guess.
48:20
SPEAKER_01: We should take a screenshot of our thumbnails.
48:24
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
48:24
SPEAKER_01: And then we'll post it out to this episode.
48:26
SPEAKER_01: Like, guess whose thumbnail this is?
48:28
SPEAKER_01: Like who's I yeah, I'm gonna take a screenshot of my thumbnail for you guys.
48:33
SPEAKER_01: Fucking amazing.
48:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, send send us a thumbnail, Jamar.
48:36
SPEAKER_04: When the episode comes out, maybe we'll put that on the social media of all my very legitimate um streaming services.
48:46
SPEAKER_01: So I know you have a life, unfortunately.
48:50
SPEAKER_03: I know.
48:51
SPEAKER_01: I mean, but I have to thank you.
48:54
SPEAKER_01: Like, this man is extremely busy and he still made time to speak with us.
48:59
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
48:59
SPEAKER_01: And this is actually better than like recording at the airport.
49:03
SPEAKER_00: Like I I I wish we had another hour because I never laugh as hard as long as record at the airport with us.
49:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
49:12
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
49:13
SPEAKER_01: So this is I think this is like this is really up there, babe.
49:17
SPEAKER_01: Close, very close to a good one.
49:18
SPEAKER_01: Almost a good one.
49:19
SPEAKER_04: I got you.
49:20
SPEAKER_01: You're amazing.
49:21
SPEAKER_01: Any last words for Assassin's Sips with Agnes and Lisa?
49:26
SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
49:26
SPEAKER_04: I just say, like, to beat a man, you gotta beat the man, Elizabeth.
49:31
SPEAKER_04: That's all I can say.
49:33
SPEAKER_04: Bitch, get in the car.
49:36
SPEAKER_01: He didn't say bitch, but I like that person better.
49:38
SPEAKER_01: I like that.
49:39
SPEAKER_04: The only time I think he does that is when um she shoots him before he shoots him.
49:43
SPEAKER_04: That's the only time he like yells.
49:44
SPEAKER_04: I think he calls her a bitch.
49:46
SPEAKER_04: But I think that's it.
49:47
SPEAKER_04: Get in the call, Elizabeth.
49:50
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
49:52
SPEAKER_00: All right.
49:52
SPEAKER_00: Well, also, Jamar, going forward, anytime you want to come back, you want to do another breakdown of another show, we're here.
50:01
SPEAKER_00: I'm here.
50:02
SPEAKER_00: I bet she's gonna tell you.
50:03
SPEAKER_01: Lisa is going to tell you like breakdown episodes.
50:07
SPEAKER_01: We're talking about this show.
50:08
SPEAKER_01: She's gonna give you her schedule.
50:10
SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna be like, schedule.
50:11
SPEAKER_01: It could be any show you want to talk about.
50:13
SPEAKER_01: Whenever you want, she's like, you need to pop up.
50:15
SPEAKER_01: Whatever you want to pop up, just pop up.
50:17
SPEAKER_01: And she'll she'll make she'll make room for you.
50:19
SPEAKER_04: Well, when I see that breaking bad happening, and and you get to one of those good episodes where like Jesse says bitch or something, I might every episode, but yeah.
50:31
SPEAKER_04: The Jesse bitch episode I'm in.
50:34
SPEAKER_00: Well he'll be your new co-host, great.
50:36
SPEAKER_00: Again.
50:37
SPEAKER_00: Dancing invitation, but you know, the beauty of breakdown, which is why, you know, I kind of had the idea, which I was also laying in bed a little enhanced watching Law and Order, and it the the idea, you know, came to me.
50:50
SPEAKER_00: But I I like the idea of being able to connect with more people over television, but not having to limit it to something that you we've watched on the podcast.
51:04
SPEAKER_00: And and think about it, something like Law and Order, which is just iconic.
51:07
SPEAKER_03: Sure.
51:08
SPEAKER_00: There's five hundred and seventeen thousand episodes, like you know, ish, right?
51:15
SPEAKER_00: So we're never gonna we're never gonna cover every episode.
51:19
SPEAKER_02: Sure, sure, sure, sure.
51:20
SPEAKER_00: But I feel like things like that or sitcoms, things that just have way too many episodes to go episode by episode.
51:26
SPEAKER_00: But you can talk about it as a whole because anyone can relate to a series.
51:32
SPEAKER_00: So for that, for any, again, we appreciate you so much, and we love having you.
51:40
SPEAKER_00: Like you are just the best guest, truly.
51:42
SPEAKER_00: Like we never laugh as hard as we do when you're with us, and your impressions are amazing, okay?
51:47
SPEAKER_00: They're always spot on, you know, even when it's real.
51:50
SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
51:51
SPEAKER_04: That is the right butter for my toast.
51:53
SPEAKER_04: Um give me the boy.
51:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, give me the boy.
51:56
SPEAKER_01: You know, like give us the boy.
51:59
SPEAKER_01: Come on.
52:00
SPEAKER_00: If there was Assassin's Sips Hull's Hall of Fame, you would be the first picture, okay?
52:05
SPEAKER_00: The first, the middle, the last.
52:07
SPEAKER_04: Like five years from now, when you're like super famous and you do that, I'm gonna be on the edge of my seat.
52:12
SPEAKER_00: That's what you don't have to be on the edge.
52:13
SPEAKER_00: We'll find you.
52:14
SPEAKER_00: All right, or you find us, you know, and yell at us because we didn't call you.
52:18
SPEAKER_00: So all right.
52:21
SPEAKER_00: Let's uh thank you again.
52:24
SPEAKER_00: We remind everyone to go visit assassinstips.com for all the ways.
52:27
SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being with us for this show as well as any others.
52:30
SPEAKER_00: We thank Jamar for really seriously making time in his busy, busy, busy, busy, busy life.
52:36
SPEAKER_00: Don't drink and drive, drink responsibly.
52:38
SPEAKER_00: And until next time, I'm Lisa.
52:39
SPEAKER_00: And I'm Agnes, I'm Jamar.
52:42
SPEAKER_00: And we're out of here.
52:44
SPEAKER_00: See you later bye.
52:45
SPEAKER_04: All right.
