- 0:00get laced up let's go it's time for banter with
- 0:04the boys welcome back to banter with the boys
- 0:17fast laps things are happening off camera as
- 0:20always up here but don't worry the mics are always
- 0:23running um anyway You guys knew that, right?
- 0:26Yeah. Oh, God. All right. Let's just move on
- 0:28then. Sweet. Awesome. I got that out of the way.
- 0:31Housekeeping stuff. That was it. Kev's here behind
- 0:35the cameras. Hi, Kev. We had to introduce him
- 0:38last, so I figured we'll introduce him first
- 0:40this time. Mike? Wow, way to throw him for a
- 0:47twister. Look at him. Keep him guessing. Yep,
- 0:50every week. Hi, I'm back. Hello. Mike's back.
- 0:53He's wearing an Aston hat this week. I'm wearing
- 0:54my Aston hat. Of course I'm wearing my Aston
- 0:56hat. Big Lance Stroll fan. Yeah, obviously. Oh,
- 0:58man, I couldn't find the Aston Marty hat. I was
- 1:03going to wear that one. Is that just a team hat
- 1:04or is that a driver hat? No, it's a hat that
- 1:06he made me. No, I'm saying that one. Oh, this
- 1:08one? This is just a team hat. No, okay. Just
- 1:10a team hat. Just a team hat. It's okay. It's
- 1:14okay. It's good. Joe, you dialing your mom? Oh,
- 1:18he's calling her right now. Hello, 911? Oh. They're
- 1:21being mean to me again. It happens every week.
- 1:26The 911 operator, Joe, you can't keep calling
- 1:28us. You're a little late this week with the call.
- 1:34All right, anyway, that landed. You're wearing
- 1:37the warm chat this week. It took like 20 seconds.
- 1:39You guys were talking, so for 20 seconds I was
- 1:41looking at my phone as if it takes me that long
- 1:43to tell about it. I was saying, like, what is
- 1:46he doing? That should make us feel good. That's
- 1:48how long it took him to contemplate whether he
- 1:49should do it or not. Yeah. So, unfortunately,
- 1:52you still landed on the wrong answer. Dumb. Yeah,
- 1:55it was. No, you're right. It was dumb. It was
- 1:58100%. Anyway, welcome, Joe. Thanks. I'm glad
- 2:02to be here. It was a good race. It was a great
- 2:05race. Wild race. A lot of interesting stuff.
- 2:10You know, Carlos Sainz winning the race. A lot
- 2:12of weird things happening. A lot of weird things
- 2:14happening. Did we watch the same race? Not the
- 2:18same one. Him being knighted at the end of the
- 2:20race. We really didn't watch the same race. It
- 2:25was wild. Carlos Sainz' dad just punched it.
- 2:28NBS in the face? That's what we meant by signs.
- 2:31It was actually Carlos Sainz Sr. driving the
- 2:33car. Oh, Carlos Sainz Sr. won the race. That
- 2:35makes more sense to me, actually. Anyway, nonsense
- 2:37is over. Kev, let's head right into our British
- 2:41recap. And we're live! That was great. Joe, I
- 3:05just... Oh, God. All right. Anyway, where are
- 3:08we at here? I love Silverstone. I love this race.
- 3:13It's such a fun race. It is a really fun track.
- 3:16I like it a lot. It never fails to. I mean, I
- 3:19feel like the percentage for safety cars, like
- 3:2160%, like just year by year. It's just super
- 3:25high. Doesn't surprise me. The wet always helps
- 3:28make it. George Russell wouldn't be on the podium.
- 3:32He finished, though. He hasn't finished two of
- 3:35the last three. That's true. Before this one.
- 3:38And that's why I didn't put him on the podium.
- 3:40But he still didn't do it. I put him on my podium,
- 3:44and that was just to keep the British dream alive.
- 3:46I could have, I guess, put Bearman on the podium.
- 3:48Hey, you never know. He's also, I mean, he has
- 3:51now finished one, but beforehand he hadn't finished
- 3:53an F1 race at Great Britain. Can he just not
- 3:55carry the torch from Lewis? Is he going to be
- 3:58a Mercedes driver in 2026? Oh, Russell? Russell.
- 4:01Russell. I think, come on, man. There's no way
- 4:04he's not driving for Mercedes next year. There's
- 4:06just no way. Well, Mercedes is going to get Verstappen,
- 4:08and then Red Bull is going to steal Piastri from
- 4:11McLaren. Yep. Because Piastri wants to go to
- 4:16Red Bull right now, for sure. Red Bull's definitely
- 4:19the place to be. Wouldn't it be crazy if we do
- 4:21get three straight seasons or something of just
- 4:24McLaren? I don't want three straight seasons
- 4:27of McLaren dominance, but at least three straight
- 4:30seasons of... Hold on. Calm down, Joel. Let me
- 4:32finish the thought. I have the floor. No, sure.
- 4:35Go ahead. Dang it. Now I can't remember the thought.
- 4:39I'll let you finish. Just great battles between
- 4:41Piastri and Norris. If it's going to be like
- 4:43this... as far as racing for the WDC for the
- 4:46next couple of years. I mean, I guess sign me
- 4:50up, but for, you know. Obviously, I'm a McLaren
- 4:54fan. I love that they're having a Dominus arc
- 4:56right now. But I do want to see them fighting
- 4:59other teams. Like, I don't love the Max Verstappen
- 5:03effect, no matter who's getting hit with it.
- 5:05It is nice, at least, that it's not a single
- 5:07person. It is two people. It's not, okay. It's
- 5:12two people, not just a single person. McLaren
- 5:15weren't bad at the start of last season. bad
- 5:19not so not straight seasons of dominance right
- 5:21so far this year i'm saying if we were to see
- 5:24now like the next three years i don't think so
- 5:26next year's it's like a toss -up i a lot of people
- 5:29think mclaren are going to come onto the gate
- 5:30swinging i hope they do i doubt it's going to
- 5:32be with the level of dominance they're having
- 5:34now though i feel like they put so much into
- 5:36this i'm worried they put so much into this year's
- 5:38car that next year's car might be a tiny bit
- 5:41lacking but we'll see yeah yeah we'll see Just
- 5:44like Kik Salver probably will come out swinging
- 5:46next year, right? I mean, Audi. I mean, Kik won't,
- 5:49yeah. McLaren, anyway. Okay, so let's do the
- 5:51reverse of what we've been doing. So might as
- 5:54well just stay on McLaren, pure dominance from
- 5:56McLaren. I mean. I mean, remember that rant I
- 5:59had? Was it? It was last week. We were all here
- 6:03for it. Copy and paste podcast to podcast. They
- 6:08were in a league of their own. Truly, no one
- 6:10was racing them the entire time. They had Max
- 6:13to deal with at the start, but once he spun,
- 6:15it was over. It was just a McLaren race. At one
- 6:20point, in fact, it wasn't even a McLaren race.
- 6:22It was a Piastri race, and then it was a Norris
- 6:24race, and that was pretty much it. They didn't
- 6:26even get next to each other to really fight that
- 6:28much. And then, yeah, they had, I think at the
- 6:31end of the race, like a 20 -second gap maybe.
- 6:33I thought it was like 28 seconds. It was a healthy
- 6:35chunk. It was a healthy chunk. It was a Max Verstappen
- 6:37chunk. I mean, okay. We have some conversation
- 6:41to have about some of the drivers, our podium
- 6:44more or less. So I'll just. We'll talk about
- 6:47it. Norris' first home win. An amazing feat.
- 6:52Super, super height. Driving an almost flawless
- 6:55race. Cars going nuts. I honestly think that
- 6:59the one issue for his race is that he had a bad
- 7:01pit stop, but that was pretty much it. I don't
- 7:04think he went off once. I think he was pretty
- 7:06stable the entire time. Piastri, unfortunately.
- 7:11I when it first happened, I think I was defending
- 7:14him a little more after sleeping on it, watching
- 7:16it a few more times. I definitely think he was
- 7:18probably in the wrong there. Not even probably.
- 7:20I definitely think he was in the wrong there.
- 7:21That was pretty dangerous. Not just seeing Max
- 7:23kind of like jump forward him, but also seeing
- 7:26Nico get up close to him, too. Like that was
- 7:28it was dangerous. It was wet. Like no one could
- 7:31see in front of them. So a car all of a sudden
- 7:34being there, it was it was bad for him, unfortunately.
- 7:37And it cost him the win. This is his third year.
- 7:40He will learn. I understand why he's upset because,
- 7:43like he said, he did the same thing, just it
- 7:45was under different conditions. And I think the
- 7:47commentator said at one point, if it was in the
- 7:48dry, it probably wouldn't have been a penalty.
- 7:51I think I asked Mike this. I'd love to hear your
- 7:54take. Do you think it was too severe, the penalty
- 7:56that he got? 10 seconds? And two penalty points
- 7:59on his license. Yeah, honestly, I do. I think
- 8:0210 seconds is a little much for that. I don't
- 8:06know. It's tough because Max, when he restarts,
- 8:10is so disgustingly good at it that it feels illegal,
- 8:15but I feel like he does such a good job that
- 8:17it's just not. So I feel like Oscar tried, and
- 8:22it just didn't work out. Do I have something
- 8:24on my face? No, you're good. Oh, okay. I feel
- 8:26like you looked at me weird. No, I just moved
- 8:28away from it. Oh, okay. All right, cool. Did
- 8:32I answer the question? No, yeah, definitely.
- 8:34Yeah, you basically said you only deserved it.
- 8:36Immediately, I think it was a little too harsh.
- 8:39We made the comparison of last year, China, Stroll
- 8:43hitting Danny from the rear and getting the exact
- 8:46same penalty, 10 seconds, two penalty points.
- 8:48No one hit each other, but it was still a very
- 8:52dangerous move. The penalty points seem a little
- 8:55wild to me. Because, yes, it was a dangerous
- 8:58move, but you didn't hit anyone. A collision
- 9:00was not caused. A 10 -second penalty I think
- 9:03I can probably be more okay with. But at the
- 9:07same time, I also would have been okay with a
- 9:085 -second. So maybe they just defaulted to what
- 9:10happens when you make an infringement under safety
- 9:12car. And you know what? Can't really be angry
- 9:16at that, I guess. Are you going to say something?
- 9:18Yeah. What's interesting is that I have been
- 9:21seeing a lot of F1 fans, and even I've seen some
- 9:26comments coming out from drivers and team principals
- 9:28and stuff like that talking about the penalty.
- 9:30And the general echo that I've been hearing is
- 9:33everyone saying it was too harsh. Everyone has
- 9:36been like, oh, this was bad. He shouldn't have
- 9:38taken 10 seconds. Maybe five seconds would have
- 9:40been a more suitable penalty. He should have
- 9:42gotten a penalty for what he did, but 10 seconds
- 9:45felt a little severe. something that we're going
- 9:50over it's like i feel like of all the people
- 9:52who are like like you know upset or happy that
- 9:58you know oscar got the penalty it really only
- 10:00affected lando and oscar those are the only two
- 10:02who had any effect on sure and i feel like mclaren
- 10:05in a way we're kind of happy that he got 10 seconds
- 10:08and not five because if he got a five second
- 10:12penalty chance for more when they came out uh
- 10:15when they both had finished their pits they were
- 10:17five point something seconds away from each other.
- 10:20If it was a five -second penalty, they would
- 10:22have been tenths from each other. And we know
- 10:25that Oscar was mad. He was super mad. He was
- 10:28driving angry, and Lando wants to win this race
- 10:31more than anything. Those drivers would have
- 10:34been driving out of their mind, doing whatever
- 10:36they could to win that race, and I think that
- 10:38that is the breeding ground for a crash to happen.
- 10:41And Hulkenberg could have won. And Hulkenberg
- 10:43could have won! Okay, that's beside the point.
- 10:45But I feel like McLaren... is taking a sigh of
- 10:50relief. Thank God they didn't get to fight each
- 10:53other. Because if they did, there was a good
- 10:55chance that I think they might have even have
- 10:56crashed. This is where the season is going. And
- 11:00it's going to be a battle between these two the
- 11:01whole way. Max probably won't have a chance to
- 11:04catch them at this point, especially with where
- 11:06the car's at. So this could just be two drivers
- 11:11on the same team battling it out for the championship.
- 11:14It would still be a great... Great race. Yeah.
- 11:17Towards the end. Jeez. Absolutely. Yeah. I was
- 11:20just going to echo the same thing pretty much.
- 11:21Yeah. Just for the rest of the season. I mean,
- 11:24I don't think that their form is going to hold
- 11:26up to the rest of the season. I think, like,
- 11:28every team, every year, someone else is going
- 11:31to find a way to get pretty close to the top.
- 11:33I mean, besides 23. 23 was just a Red Bull dominance
- 11:36the entire year. I don't think McLaren's going
- 11:40to hold. I think McLaren's going to be dominant
- 11:41the entire year, but I don't think they're going
- 11:43to be this dominant. I think someone's going
- 11:45to catch up eventually. They'll just probably
- 11:46take a second. I also think that this. I mean,
- 11:49Ferrari's getting better and better, right? I
- 11:52think it's probably Ferrari. Ferrari more than
- 11:54Mercedes. Mercedes seemed to be losing a little
- 11:56bit of form, but who knows? I do think that also
- 12:01the issue of them worried about them colliding,
- 12:03I think they're more concerned about it in this
- 12:05scenario where it was just how heightened everything
- 12:09was. Oscar was... The most upset we've ever seen
- 12:12him. I've never seen Oscar Emote this much. And
- 12:16this is Lando's home race. Lando has said this
- 12:18is his dream as an F1 driver is to win this race.
- 12:22Just a lot of energy. Those two colliding against
- 12:26each other is just a recipe for disaster. It
- 12:29could be a thunderstorm. Any other track, they're
- 12:31free to race. I'm not as concerned about them
- 12:33crashing. They're going to keep it clean. They're
- 12:35going to do their best. I'm less concerned. This
- 12:38scenario, I would be more concerned if I were
- 12:39McLaren. What about Oscar's outlandish request
- 12:44at the end of the race? Requesting that they
- 12:46swap spots and kind of put the team in a spot
- 12:51by being like, oh, well, if you think it wasn't
- 12:56right, then you should swap places. I don't know.
- 12:59That's a pretty wild thing to say to me. For
- 13:01me. Yeah, I do not. But he said it with emotion.
- 13:06He was upset in the moment. He's very clearly
- 13:08upset. So you would think it's that, but I wonder
- 13:10if they have a conversation with him about...
- 13:14I don't know. I feel like they should. No, I
- 13:18feel like they should. I mean, if it were my
- 13:19decision, I'd be like, no, that open communication
- 13:21asking. I think that's fine. I think any driver
- 13:25should be in their right to ask if that's going
- 13:27to happen. I think it's up to the team, obviously,
- 13:29and I think the team made the right decision.
- 13:31No, we're not going to swap you. Unfortunately,
- 13:33we're not going to tell you right now because
- 13:35it'll piss you off more, but it was your fault
- 13:37that you put yourself in this position. We're
- 13:39not going to take Lando's home win away from
- 13:42him, even if it was. I don't know, like Canada.
- 13:44We're not going to take his win away from him.
- 13:46This is the position that you're in because of
- 13:47the actions that were made. I understand you're
- 13:50upset, but no, we're not going to do team orders
- 13:52just like we wouldn't do team orders normally
- 13:54anyway. But I don't fault him for asking. He's
- 13:59driving an F1 car at the moment. He was leading
- 14:04the race and probably would have won the race
- 14:06if that didn't happen. I mean, good chance you
- 14:09would have. I do not blame him one bit for asking.
- 14:12I think he's probably cooled down by now. I mean,
- 14:14it's been two days. For sure. I'm hoping he reflects
- 14:18on that and just gets better and better, you
- 14:20know? I mean, I wish I talked to him. You game
- 14:21with him. I wish I gamed with him. I wish. No,
- 14:25he does. He does. He's being modest. All right.
- 14:28Kick Sauber. I mean, just go for it. This is
- 14:31my time to pop off. I'm so stoked. I am beyond
- 14:35excited. I spent, like, the entire race I was
- 14:38watching, and I saw Nico, like, early in the
- 14:41race, like, up in, like, eighth or something.
- 14:43And I was like, what? And just watched. him slowly
- 14:46climb up and up and up and i was like losing
- 14:49my mind the next thing i knew i'm sitting here
- 14:51i'm like we're looking at nico in fifth position
- 14:55fourth position we could be looking at a nico
- 14:57podium and i like messaged that to jokes we were
- 15:00watching the race at the same time we just weren't
- 15:01watching it together and that was where joe was
- 15:03like oh you're right holy cow and like it was
- 15:05insane like that was another drive that i say
- 15:08was dominant absolutely absurd drive out of Nico,
- 15:12best drive we've ever seen out of him. It was
- 15:14so good, so well -deserved. And even he himself
- 15:18was saying that in his post race interview, he's
- 15:21like, I was not expecting this. He's like, it
- 15:22has been a roller coaster of a weekend. He's
- 15:26like, I had a season. I had a terrible day yesterday
- 15:29placing almost dead last to end up on one of
- 15:33the best drives of my entire career. He's like,
- 15:36it has been a roller coaster of a weekend. And
- 15:38so it's super exciting. I went and bought a kicks
- 15:41over hat. So it's a Nico Hulkenberg hat. I just
- 15:45pulled the trigger. I was already thinking about
- 15:47it, and that was all the excuse I needed. So
- 15:49I'm super stoked. And this only makes me even
- 15:52more excited for Audi. I mean, he didn't win.
- 15:56No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I'm just
- 15:58kidding. Imagine. The audacity. Hey, question.
- 16:04Where does your Alpine drive around again? A
- 16:06P6. Oh, yeah. Which I'm very happy about, by
- 16:08the way. Yeah, that's right. Only three positions
- 16:10lower than him. That's fine. Oh, that's right.
- 16:12And where did he start on the grid again? I don't
- 16:15care. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. Doesn't
- 16:17matter. Yikes. You remember that part where Nico
- 16:20overtook him? I do. He has to make two positions.
- 16:26Excuse me. Speaking of... Sorry, I don't know
- 16:29what came over me there. Speaking of overtaking,
- 16:31yeah, you black out for a second. I saw red.
- 16:34Just multiple great drives from Nico throughout
- 16:37the season. Just to recap for some people that
- 16:41may be just joining this season, Australian GP
- 16:44went from P17 to P7. Spanish GP, P15 to P5. Austrian
- 16:50GP, P20 to P9. British GP, P19 to... Third. Three,
- 16:56yeah. Dude is really good at racing. Dude's having
- 16:59a great season. Yeah. Been super fun to watch.
- 17:04Yeah, I can't imagine the emotion you would feel
- 17:07after that many career races and not getting
- 17:10that chance until then. And then people are having
- 17:13an issue with the McLaren drivers, not going
- 17:17crazy with them. I think it's reading into it
- 17:19way too much. I can't expect Lando. Do they know?
- 17:24Do either of those guys know that Nico's never
- 17:27scored points ever in his career? Look into the
- 17:32context here. Lando just won his home Grand Prix,
- 17:36something he's been dreaming of since he was
- 17:37a child. Piastri's angry. He's just not going
- 17:40to be in a good mood. Who went up there for McLaren?
- 17:44Uh, it was their technical director, I believe.
- 17:47Yeah, because he was, like, getting shot in the
- 17:48face. Yeah, they always shoot their technical
- 17:49director. They always shoot their teacher. No,
- 17:52I know. Shoot, sorry, spray, champagne. No, he
- 17:55was, like, shooting in the face. They do that
- 17:57all the time. Yeah, I don't know. It just seemed
- 17:58really a lot more direct. Yeah, no, I definitely
- 18:01think people are reading too much into it. It's
- 18:03like, when they weren't celebrating Nico, it
- 18:04was like, well, because they did something really
- 18:06cool for themselves, too. And I'm sure they do
- 18:09acknowledge Nico had an amazing race, but McLaren
- 18:12also had an amazing race. I promise that's not
- 18:16McLaren. I'm so incredibly happy for Nico. Kevin,
- 18:20did you see the celebration? What did you think?
- 18:28on their own they definitely were on their own
- 18:31yeah definitely that's a that's a great call
- 18:33but also to be fair i feel like nico probably
- 18:36doesn't interact with those two super often he's
- 18:39never raced with them probably there's a huge
- 18:40age gap between the two of them it's literally
- 18:42like i want to talk about that for a second after
- 18:45this because there's a comment made that i thought
- 18:48was hilarious but uh nico had a generational
- 18:51drive yeah um oh yeah it was insane and and i
- 18:55i'm really happy you brought up previous races
- 18:57because i didn't realize like the steps he'd
- 19:00been making for the team and i think bordoletto
- 19:02just needs a little more refinement and he's
- 19:04kind of he's probably not right there but he's
- 19:06he's in the mix so yeah yeah that was it was
- 19:08great driving it was really really fun to see
- 19:10a kick salver that far up yeah dude crazy yeah
- 19:13after watching kick salver last year literally
- 19:17do so badly Seeing them on the podium this year
- 19:20was not on my bucket list. I put Alpine on the
- 19:23podium before I put Cakes. Oh, yeah, me too.
- 19:25100%. Yeah. If we're done talking about Hulkenberg
- 19:30specifically, I'd like to ask a question of Cake
- 19:32in general. Yes. Go for it. I think I ask this
- 19:35every single week with a single team. Does this
- 19:37momentum carry? To next week? Yeah. I keep on
- 19:41wanting to say no. Yeah. I keep on wanting to
- 19:44say no, but then they just keep on doing it.
- 19:45They keep, like, finishing either in points or
- 19:48getting better, and now they're podium. Right.
- 19:51I don't think they're going to podium again this
- 19:54season. I've noticed Nico seems poor on the one
- 19:56-lap pace, but he makes it up for his race craft.
- 19:59Right. And I feel like Gabby seems to be faster
- 20:01in quality. Yeah, Gabby does seem to be faster
- 20:03in quality. He needs a refinement in experience.
- 20:05I think if I remember correctly, it's... They're
- 20:086 -6 right now, actually. I think they're 6 -6
- 20:10in qualifying. I think he definitely needs to
- 20:18work on his one pace. I feel like he was the
- 20:19same way in Haas, too. He was struggling with
- 20:21his one pace. But yeah, he's just super good
- 20:24on track. His race craft is so good. I don't
- 20:29know if we see the kick continue to do better.
- 20:32I know... they made some small upgrades to their
- 20:36car was really all they were doing they haven't
- 20:38had any major upgrades because kickstarter has
- 20:40been focused on audi that's their big focus right
- 20:43now so they've made some small adjustments fixed
- 20:46their pit stops and that's basically all they've
- 20:48done and everything else is just kind of coming
- 20:50together so i mean maybe it does keep up i don't
- 20:54think we see them on the podium again Another
- 20:56top five? Can Hulkenberg sneak another top five
- 20:59in there? I could see him sneaking another fifth
- 21:01in there. We can't really put it past him right
- 21:04now. This is his second one in the last four
- 21:06races. He went 15 to fifth, you said. Just pure
- 21:12dominance. I mean, you're right. Pure dominance
- 21:15from Hulkenberg into Kix Albert. The math does
- 21:19not add up for him to be in fifth, but he's been
- 21:23doing it. He's been doing it. Yeah, I feel the
- 21:26same way. I don't know. Do we ask him the question
- 21:28that I asked you? Oh, yeah, actually, I would
- 21:31like that. So I brought up, and he disagrees
- 21:35with me on this. I believe that in this race,
- 21:37I think Nico drove the best race out of anybody
- 21:40on the track. And I refuted that while he did
- 21:44drive an incredible race, and maybe, maybe even
- 21:48the best race, I think I can't in good conscience
- 21:52say it was the best race. Because Lando had pretty
- 21:54much a flawless race as well, right? I think
- 21:59that's our argument, because I also think Lando
- 22:01probably drove the second best. Like, if we're
- 22:02taking the cars out of it. And I'm not saying
- 22:04Lando did the best. But still, going from P19
- 22:07to podium is wild, to in a kick, again, but trying
- 22:12to take the cars out of it, that's tough. Yeah.
- 22:14That's tough. Who got driver of the day? Nico.
- 22:17Resoundingly. It was like 40 -something percent.
- 22:21I'm not giving it to either Lando or Nico. I'm
- 22:23just saying I'd probably need to watch. Absolutely.
- 22:27I'd need to watch every single driver's perspective,
- 22:29I think. My big argument, because I also think
- 22:32that Lando drove basically a flawless race, and
- 22:35so the only thing that puts Nico Hulkenberg ahead
- 22:37for me is the fact that all Lando did was just
- 22:42drive clean. And that was it. Like, second place
- 22:44he got gifted because Max spun out. First place
- 22:47he got gifted because Oscar had a penalty. And
- 22:50then he just kept it clean, which is, like, great.
- 22:53That's all, like, you can't ask for more out
- 22:54of your driver, right? Versus Nico also drove
- 22:57incredibly clean all race but had to fight through
- 23:00the field the entire way. He had to overtake
- 23:02better cars than his. And then he had to defend
- 23:05against better cars, including against a driver
- 23:08like Lewis Hamilton, who... The lap that Nico
- 23:12overtook Lance Stroll, two corners later, Hamilton
- 23:16overtook Stroll. So Hamilton was right on his
- 23:19tail. But Nico was still able to keep him behind.
- 23:23Hamilton was not right on Nico's tail. It was
- 23:26over a second. Towards the end, he couldn't catch
- 23:29him. Towards the end, he couldn't catch him.
- 23:31And then Lando did overtake Max legitimately,
- 23:34then lost the place in the pit stop, and then
- 23:36got gifted it once he spun. So he did overtake
- 23:39him once. Oh, I don't remember him overtaking
- 23:40Max. He did overtake him once. That was an overtake.
- 23:43He spun after he overtook him, right? He overtook
- 23:46him, and then Max got the place back through
- 23:50pit stop shenanigans. So Lando had an overtake,
- 23:54and aside from that, got the rest of his positions
- 23:56through. gifting, and he just drove a really
- 23:59clean race. The rest of his positions being two.
- 24:01Right, yeah. As opposed to Nico Hulkenberg, who
- 24:04was effectively gifted a handful of positions
- 24:07due to the frontrunners. Well, he was ahead of
- 24:11most of those drivers before they DNF'd. He was...
- 24:14He was gifted positions from drivers in front
- 24:17of him being on slicks when they should have
- 24:19been on enters, when he was on enters, and so
- 24:22he got a huge advantage from that, and I will
- 24:24give that as an argument of like, you know, that's
- 24:29not the most impressive thing, but he still did
- 24:30overtake two Ferraris, the Williams, which are
- 24:33outperforming him. And I think the Haases were
- 24:37on slicks, but like he overtook better cars and
- 24:41Mercedes. He overtook both Mercedes. And this
- 24:44was, he had overtaken Kimi Antonelli prior to
- 24:48Kimi getting crashed. My only argument for Lando
- 24:51is like, you can't fault the guy. for running
- 24:56a good race. And I'm not. He got handed some
- 24:59stuff, for sure, but took full advantage of what
- 25:03was given to him. I can definitely see both sides,
- 25:07for sure. See, my thing is they both drove a
- 25:09flawless race, except Nico just had to do more
- 25:12for his flawless race to give him more. I would
- 25:15agree that one was drastically different. It
- 25:17was a different race, but it was still flawless.
- 25:20I think both were flawless, but I just think
- 25:23Nico did more. For sure. Joe, I'm about to move
- 25:25on. This is my TED Talk. I know you were looking
- 25:27up some stuff. No, no, no. I'm about to pop off
- 25:29real quick. Oh, no. Him and I have already had
- 25:32our... You guys already... They were just swinging
- 25:34on each other before we hit record. I'm happy
- 25:35with my point. I've had to break them up. It
- 25:38was pretty wild. Yeah, anyway. So now, I guess,
- 25:44Red Bull. No, I'm sorry. Ferrari. Ferrari. We
- 25:47mentioned them real quick. Hamilton finishing
- 25:50P4, having a great race at Silverstone, to be
- 25:54expected. But actually, at the end, he really
- 25:57couldn't catch the kick, which is still crazy
- 26:01to say. Second time this season. Couldn't catch
- 26:03the kick. This is the second time this season
- 26:05that he couldn't catch Nico Hulkenberg. And then
- 26:09Charles, just real crappy. Crappy weekend in
- 26:11general, but just real crappy. really hard on
- 26:16himself too the last two weeks like extremely
- 26:18like beating himself up hard so hopefully this
- 26:21little break in July and then summer break in
- 26:24in August does Charles some good what's funny
- 26:27go back to Monaco and sit on the yacht for a
- 26:29little bit yeah just do nothing what's funny
- 26:31I don't know if you've heard my mom has gotten
- 26:33into starting to watch some of the races like
- 26:34she'll watch it at like whatever and she's become
- 26:37like a big Charles Leclerc fan makes sense I'm
- 26:39mom I assume you're gonna watch this you know
- 26:41this makes sense but like Yeah, it's just so
- 26:45funny because she texted me. She's like, oh,
- 26:47Charles is doing so poorly. I was like, oh, you
- 26:51know. Sorry. I forgot. That's right, that she
- 26:54likes Charles. Yeah. Who doesn't? Who doesn't?
- 26:58I mean, he's good. We like Charles. I mean, yeah,
- 27:00he's good. He's okay. I don't know. It's still
- 27:03one of the greatest moments for sure. My short
- 27:06F1 watching lifespan is Charles winning at Monaco
- 27:09will always forever be one of the greatest things
- 27:11I've ever seen. but yeah Ferrari uh yeah Ferrari
- 27:17fans message like the Facebook page or something
- 27:19or put comment on YouTube or something like let's
- 27:22let's get your we want to know your your opinions
- 27:24as a Ferrari fan you know or any of you other
- 27:26fans out there but um definitely Ferrari we've
- 27:29got to hear from you because none of us are um
- 27:32Ferrari fans so like yeah anyway who's next uh
- 27:37Verstappen yeah Well, Verstappen. The Verstappen
- 27:40Bulls? Sonota's kind of like, just kind of just...
- 27:44Tough? You know. I think he was another one that...
- 27:46You know, you go get a Big Mac with fries, Sonota's
- 27:48the fries right now. You know what I mean? Like,
- 27:50he's not what you're excited about. I think Sonota
- 27:53was another one of those ones that started on
- 27:54slicks, right? You know what? I have that list,
- 27:59actually. Oh, you do? Yeah. I thought... I know
- 28:01LeClaire was... It was... LeClaire and George.
- 28:05Slowapinto, and then stayed there. George Russell,
- 28:08Charles LeClaire, Hajar, and Bortoletto. Okay.
- 28:12I stand corrected. So, yeah. I mean, realistically,
- 28:15probably should have done better. I mean, that's
- 28:16the AI overview anyway. Sure. That's via Google.
- 28:20That's fine. That's probably... Probably close
- 28:22enough. Yeah. Yeah. We're official. Probably
- 28:26should have done better, but... Sponsored by
- 28:27Google. Oh, my gosh. Not yet, but hey, Google.
- 28:33He probably should have done better, but, you
- 28:35know, car's bad. Track conditions are tricky.
- 28:39Like, car was really bad this weekend. Unless
- 28:43you're Max Verstappen. No, car was even bad.
- 28:45Wait, who are we talking about? Oh, yeah, Red
- 28:46Bull. I mean, he was running up front, you know,
- 28:48so... He was running up front, but he was not
- 28:50holding it. Like, it was... I mean, he's Max
- 28:54Verstappen. He got down to 10th, and he made
- 28:58it back up to 5th, which is still crazy. Especially,
- 29:01he was fighting that car hard. Yeah, the interviewer
- 29:04was like, that was a pretty good recovery. He
- 29:06was like, yeah, but I was struggling so much.
- 29:09It was such, I had literally no pace. I was watching,
- 29:12I was like, brother, you made 5th. Yeah, I can't
- 29:15remember what turn it was, but he was always
- 29:17sideways. The whole race, he was consistently
- 29:19sideways. I was going to figure out what turn
- 29:21that was, but I can't remember. Yeah, so Red
- 29:22Bull, I can't remember if it was. for both cars,
- 29:25but definitely for max, they brought a slimmer
- 29:26wing. Um, I don't think they realized how wet
- 29:29it was going to be. I think he's even said in
- 29:31his interviews, like the forecast, they were
- 29:33just not expecting it. So he brought a slimmer
- 29:35wing and it really, really caused them to struggle
- 29:37in the corners. Yep. Well, I hope, I hope they
- 29:40keep the same wing for the next race. Just no,
- 29:44in terms. No, I mean, well, spa is spa has a
- 29:49couple of, I'm trying to remember what kind of
- 29:52set up spot. Does it need a lower wing or a higher
- 29:55wing setup? Because there are some crazy corners,
- 29:58but there are also some crazy straights. There
- 29:59are some pretty crazy straights. I think it probably
- 30:02needs more of a balance setup, maybe. I'm not
- 30:04sure. We'll find out next week. I think it actually
- 30:07does need more slip. We'll find out next week
- 30:09before we do our preview show. Because next week's
- 30:12our time trials. That's true. Oh, boy. That's
- 30:14true. We should do Spa as one of them. Oh, yeah?
- 30:17Oh, no. I mean... He looks at me. Oh, no. I mean,
- 30:21I could do Spa. I'll be in the gravel. I don't
- 30:23know if I'll complete a lap. I like Spa. We'll
- 30:25see. I've been practicing, though. Good. So I
- 30:28don't look like a complete fool. I will get third
- 30:30out of the three of us. I plan on getting third
- 30:33out of the three of us. You'll come in first
- 30:34when I crash out Joe. Perfect, yes. Okay, I like
- 30:37this idea. All right, moving on. I like this
- 30:39idea. Yeah, Yuki just, again, rough. Joe put
- 30:43in here, Yuki with another weekend to forget.
- 30:46Could have been said better. Alpine, yes. Look
- 30:51at that. Pierre, I like your note in here, Joe.
- 30:54That's actually kind of funny. Gasly reported
- 30:56with a broken back after carrying the entire
- 30:58team on his shoulders. Couldn't be more true.
- 31:03I mean, he continues to prove that week in and
- 31:05week out for Alpine. There are a couple times
- 31:07he is in the back of the pack, but usually Cole
- 31:10Pendle's right there with him as well. Cole Pendle
- 31:13didn't even get out of the pits this week. Not
- 31:14quite his fault, per se. No, not his fault. It
- 31:18ended up being a driveline issue is what it was.
- 31:20That's all I could find, driveline issue. Okay.
- 31:24For whatever it's worth, too, because we were
- 31:26talking about best drives of the day, Pierre
- 31:28was up there, too, for me. Had a great day. He
- 31:30was up there all day, too. Him and Hulkenberg,
- 31:32too, were both up there all day. Fabulous drive
- 31:35out of him. I can't say anything negative about
- 31:38him. His overtake on Lance. That's fine. Don't
- 31:40talk about him. Don't talk about him. No. I'm
- 31:42giving him his flowers. No. I don't even want
- 31:44you to give him his flowers. Okay, fine. I don't
- 31:45want to talk about Alpine anyways. You guys both
- 31:46had your chance to give him flowers before, and
- 31:50you didn't. Before what? When you wanted to talk
- 31:52about Alpine. Alpine before, and you didn't.
- 31:54What are you talking about? When I wasn't here.
- 31:58What are you talking about? I don't even know
- 31:59what you're talking about right now. Who's Alpine?
- 32:02I have no idea. I've never heard of this team
- 32:04before. Good, good. Move on. Some kind of Renault
- 32:08engine? Actually, no. While we're on Alpine,
- 32:10though, while we are on Alpine, I am kind of
- 32:12curious about how you feel about all these rumors
- 32:15about Valtteri and whatnot. I mean, at this point,
- 32:20I mean, again, this race is tough. I don't really
- 32:22count this against Colapinto. Not his fault.
- 32:25Right. But had another rough few practices leading
- 32:28up. He pretty much gets in the car, and it's
- 32:31rough right now. I mean, at the moment, Alpine's
- 32:37not catching nobody. Right. Good chance they
- 32:41won't catch Haas either. I mean, even though
- 32:43Haas didn't finish in points this week either.
- 32:45God, Haas is down to nine. I know. Yeah, right.
- 32:49I don't know. Unless Gasly can have a couple
- 32:52P5s or better, I don't see it getting any better
- 32:56for Alpine, so why not? Throw Botas in there,
- 32:59whatever. And if he does well enough, well, geez,
- 33:01does he just get the seat for 2026? God, I hope
- 33:04not. Why? Because I would rather see him in a
- 33:08Cadillac. Oh, fair enough. That's fair, that's
- 33:11fair, that's fair. I'll still be an Alpine fan,
- 33:13even when Cadillac comes to the grid. That's
- 33:15good, I appreciate that. I'll be a Cadillac fan,
- 33:16but I'll still be... I'll be Alpine until Gasly
- 33:21leaves. If he retires Alpine, I'll just be Alpine
- 33:24forever. But if he leaves Alpine, depending on
- 33:28who else is there, I might just kick them to
- 33:30the curb. Interesting. I'm loyal to Gasly, not
- 33:34necessarily Alpine. Okay. That's fair. That's
- 33:36fair. But if they bring in a second driver, that's
- 33:38awesome. And they can, you know, come out of
- 33:40the gate swinging next year. That'd be great.
- 33:42That would get me to buy another hat. I wouldn't
- 33:45hold your breath. Yep. I'm not. I'm not. That's
- 33:49why I'm buying a Mercedes hat. Yeah, nice. Anyway.
- 33:53Speaking of Mercedes. I'll still be Alpine. Yeah,
- 33:56I mean, screw it. Well, actually. It is actually
- 34:00next time. Yeah, actually. Stroll, like... Lands
- 34:04a lot, Stroll. Okay, no, hold on. I'm going to
- 34:07start on Fernando because I need to talk about
- 34:08Stroll. Oh, geez. Fernando, good race. Like,
- 34:12he struggled with strategy, but aside from that,
- 34:15he recovered really well, put himself back into
- 34:17some points. Like, keeping his point record going,
- 34:21he's continuously making points every weekend.
- 34:23This is what he needs to see, so that's good.
- 34:25He's 12th in driver standings. He... No, Alonso
- 34:30is 14th. Oh, I'm talking about Stroll. My bad.
- 34:33Sorry. Which is crazy, by the way. Sorry. My
- 34:37bad. Stroll had a good drive. He's really good
- 34:42in these conditions. He's like mixed conditions,
- 34:44right? He had a good drive. He had perfect strategy
- 34:47handed to him. Strategy could not be better.
- 34:49He was running in the top three for a good portion
- 34:51of the race. And then just fell off at the end.
- 34:54The Aston really struggles with tire degradation.
- 34:56That's fine. That's kind of expected. Yeah, Gasly
- 35:00passed him really easily at the end. Super handily.
- 35:03Yeah. So... He really, really fell off. And I
- 35:07think part of that reason is because he was fighting
- 35:09way too hard to try and keep Nico behind him
- 35:11when really Nico wasn't trying that hard to get
- 35:13past him. So he should have just given up third
- 35:16and just tried to conserve his tires. Maybe he
- 35:18could have held sixth. But my problem is they
- 35:23didn't air it on the actual race, but after he
- 35:27crossed the line, his... The engineer came online
- 35:32and was like, great race. That was a great job.
- 35:35It was an awesome showing. And he immediately
- 35:38cracked back saying, no, that was awful. This
- 35:40was terrible. This was an awful race for me.
- 35:42And then when he went to the news pen, he was
- 35:45complaining about the car and how this is the
- 35:46worst car he's ever driven. And I'm like, dude,
- 35:50you were in third. What are you talking about?
- 35:52For a minute, too. This is one of the best drives
- 35:56I've seen out of you. And sure, you fell back.
- 36:00Yeah, right here in this part of the race. This
- 36:04is like lap 14 in the pure downpour, and he's
- 36:06sitting at fourth right now. Exactly, yeah. So
- 36:08I'm like, you should not be crying and whining
- 36:11and lashing out to your engineer right now. You
- 36:14should be feeling good. You scored points. It
- 36:17was a good showing. You should be proud of yourself
- 36:20and the team right now, and he just is making
- 36:23Aston look bad per usual. Are you saying that
- 36:27you want Stroll out of Aston? I can't even say
- 36:32what this shirt is. Breaking news. Oh, my God.
- 36:34Take my hat off. I tried. Oh, well. All right.
- 36:40Actually, you might as well just talk about Haas
- 36:41now. No. Just stay with him. No. Why not? Because
- 36:44it's Williams first. No. He's got to talk about
- 36:47Williams. Oh, you're right. It is Williams first.
- 36:49I'm sorry, Joe. I'm kind of bummed you didn't
- 36:50wear your Williams hat. Joe. Where are my Williams
- 36:52hats? You scored points. God, you should do that.
- 36:55Woo! If that's the case, you're never going to
- 36:57wear your Williams hat. No, I mean, if Williams
- 36:59have a good race, that's how McLaren won, so
- 37:02I have to wear a McLaren hat. We'll just solve
- 37:04it. Just come back from break wearing an Alpine
- 37:07hat. No. I'm not going to buy an Alpine hat right
- 37:10now. That's a waste of money. Crazy. When and
- 37:17why did Sainz retire? Not Sainz. Yeah, Sainz.
- 37:24I don't know. Technical problem, I'd have to
- 37:26assume. I don't even remember him retiring, honestly.
- 37:28I don't either. I remember him racing against
- 37:32Max at one point. Because, oh my gosh, there
- 37:36was a comment. That the commentators made after
- 37:38Max spun out and came back in. And they're like,
- 37:41Max Verstappen is in a William sandwich. The
- 37:43AI says, Colonel Sines left the British GP in
- 37:472025 after a light collision. Dropped him from
- 37:49points, leaving him frustrated and fed up. It
- 37:52was the collision with Yuki. It was Yuki's family
- 37:56collision. Oh, and Yuki got that. 10 seconds,
- 37:58right? Williams was a broken car. I don't think
- 38:03either driver loved driving it. Albon just scraping
- 38:06some points, getting some, and then calling it
- 38:09a day. Eighth is really, I think, what they can
- 38:11hope for. Obviously, they want both cars to finish.
- 38:13I think both cars can still finish in points.
- 38:16Kind of like an Aston thing, 9 -7 type deal.
- 38:19Oh, yeah, both cars can. They just need to finish
- 38:22a race. Yep. Okay. Now we can go to Haas. That's
- 38:25it for Williams? Okay. That was it. Actually,
- 38:27technically, Mercedes is next. Oh, we can all
- 38:31go to Mercedes then. That's fine. Nah, they can
- 38:33wait. Okay. Go for it. Mercedes had... Okay.
- 38:38They did their old -timey hat thing. It was very
- 38:40funny to watch Toto get so angry in those old
- 38:42-timey hats. Oh, yeah. I love it, dude. I remember
- 38:45on DTS specifically, they were wearing their
- 38:47old -timey garb, and they did horrible that weekend.
- 38:50Yeah. And they brought it back this year, and
- 38:51they did horrible again. I bet your Mercedes
- 38:54never does it again. They're like, we can't.
- 38:57It's cursed. Yeah, they were all in their orange
- 39:00to celebrate their historic orange car, whatever
- 39:02it is. Yeah, it was fun. I don't have anything
- 39:04else from Mercedes. Russell had a bad strategy
- 39:08and therefore got a bad place. I saw a comment
- 39:11on a video I was watching where it's like amidst
- 39:13all of the drama about George Russell potentially
- 39:15not re -signing with Mercedes and does Max maybe
- 39:19go to Mercedes? And they're like, and Mercedes.
- 39:22and the most genius scene they could have done
- 39:24amidst all this drama is put orange on their
- 39:26car. Oh, that was so funny. Yep. Anyways, Haas.
- 39:33Haas. I'll keep it tootsweet, too. It was us
- 39:37showing. It was the race of all time. They both
- 39:41stayed on track, which is better than other teams,
- 39:43I suppose. Well, Berman was the only rookie to
- 39:46stay on the track, right? Berman was the only
- 39:48rookie to finish. Specifically, not DNF. They
- 39:51went off track a couple times. A couple times.
- 39:53Sometimes together. Yeah. In beautiful fashion.
- 39:57In a beautiful spin. One that rivals the nutcracker.
- 40:01I did want to mention Bearman, his home race.
- 40:07He had an excellent qualify. He got into Q3.
- 40:11He was very quick, but it was all ruined by a
- 40:14very stupid mistake he made in FP3. He got on
- 40:18the radio right away. He was like, that was so
- 40:19stupid. I can't believe I did that. Immediately
- 40:21handed a 10 -place grid penalty. As he was going
- 40:26into the pit lane, he was taking too much speed,
- 40:28hit the brakes too hard, spun and hit the pit
- 40:30lane wall. That was during a red flag already.
- 40:34I think Bearman could have gotten some actual...
- 40:37points i think he could have done it i just i
- 40:39i understand why that penalty came down it leaves
- 40:42a bad taste in my mouth it might just be haas
- 40:44bias i don't know i don't think so i don't you
- 40:46don't think it was deserved i don't think it
- 40:48was deserved it's like like how was like like
- 40:53what was unsafe to anyone but ollie in that situation
- 40:56was right behind him was he he was like and he
- 40:59was like i think he technically kind of i mean
- 41:01he He was going really fast to the pit lane during
- 41:05a red flag and then spun because he tried stopping
- 41:09too hard. I mean, he was basically doing what
- 41:10Piastri did during the safety car restart, if
- 41:13you think about it. Okay. And to Max behind him.
- 41:15Okay. Poor Max. I think, I think, no, I mean,
- 41:18Max was fine. Max laughed. He was like, what
- 41:20the heck? That was weird. Like on radio. He was
- 41:23like bewildered by it. It's, it was a stupid
- 41:27mistake. It was a red flag infringement. We could
- 41:31go back and forth on if it was too harsh or not.
- 41:33Maybe it was too harsh, but if I'm going with
- 41:36the line of they're going to keep consistent
- 41:38with their penalties, then he takes a 10 second.
- 41:41You might need to give me the hat for this. Carlos
- 41:45finished 12th, by the way. He didn't DNF. That's
- 41:51my bad. I just looked it up and it said he did
- 41:54too, but now I'm looking up standings and I didn't
- 41:57trust ESPN. For good reasons. Good reasons, yeah.
- 42:00And so I went and checked again, and no, I'm
- 42:02seeing somewhere else, too, that he did actually
- 42:04finish P12. Why did I? Sorry, I just had to get
- 42:06that out real quick. Because I was like bugged
- 42:08for a second. I was like, this is wrong. Did
- 42:11he? I completely missed it. That's my bad. You're
- 42:14right. He was totally in 12th. Yeah, where did
- 42:16I get that he DNF'd? I don't know. But he did
- 42:18get in that crash, and he dropped. He must have
- 42:20climbed back up. I don't know. I'm blanking,
- 42:22but anyway, sorry. Yeah, so if it was dry, if
- 42:27the track was dry, scene. Oh, jeez. That was
- 42:31so aggressive. I'm going to break the hat. We
- 42:33got summer break. Yeah, we got to put it back
- 42:34together. If it were dry, right? We saw the crazy
- 42:39pace that Oli had. Well, you're going to hear
- 42:41the take first. We saw the crazy pace that Oli
- 42:45had in qualifying, making it to Q3, pretty handily
- 42:48at that. The Haas is really bad in the rain.
- 42:51If it were dry, I think Oli gets as high as sixth.
- 42:58No, I don't think that's too crazy. I think it's
- 43:02a lot. Seeing how fast he was in quali, how comfortable
- 43:07he is on this track, if it wasn't raining, if
- 43:13it were dry, because this Haas is just undriveable
- 43:15in the rain, and it's always been bad in the
- 43:17rain. If it were dry, we could have seen, and
- 43:20we see him very consistently as the driver who
- 43:23has the most positions gained. Potentially best
- 43:29track. Yeah. I think there's a very real chance
- 43:32we see him race up to a decent point position.
- 43:34P7. That's on the low side, I feel. Let me pitch
- 43:40this to you, though. If it's not raining for
- 43:42him, it's not raining for other drivers, too,
- 43:44which means that they're not making those bad
- 43:45strategy calls because they're not dropping so
- 43:48far back. I just don't. I think he's fighting
- 43:50a lot more, and because of that, I think he's
- 43:53probably getting 9th or 10th, but hopefully still
- 43:57points. It would be cool. You're right, though.
- 44:00He did really well during qualifying. He was
- 44:03really good. He was really fast during qualifying.
- 44:05I would like to see him up. there more but i
- 44:07mean so many drivers got caught up by the rain
- 44:10i mean i go as far as to say and i don't know
- 44:11if you guys agree with me this if it wasn't raining
- 44:13and the strategies didn't happen nico wasn't
- 44:16gonna get third i think you're right yeah yeah
- 44:18so i have to say that bearman probably would
- 44:20have i think he would have gotten points i just
- 44:22think they wouldn't have been six uh i'd say
- 44:25like seven to ten probably it's a little more
- 44:27realistic it's a good thing i'm wearing the hat
- 44:29yeah okay but it wasn't that bad of a take you
- 44:31can put on here okay thank you Just remember
- 44:35what you want. Let's see. Real quick. The only
- 44:37other team we got to talk about we don't really
- 44:39need to talk about. Racing Bulls. That was indeed
- 44:43a double DNF. It was. I do feel bad. Like the
- 44:47Liam thing we were watching before the pod started.
- 44:50And yeah, that was just. Classic Liam Lawson,
- 44:53just rookie mistake. Isaac Kadjar, I feel really
- 44:57bad for him because watching his onboard, man.
- 44:59It was nothing but spray, and then he was in
- 45:03the back of Kimi. There was no time to react
- 45:07to that. And even if he did react to it, he's
- 45:10in the wet. What is he going to do? He's going
- 45:12to hydroplane and run into the back of Kimi.
- 45:14It's tough. You know, it is what it is. It is
- 45:19what it is for the Rising Bulls. Yeah, that pretty
- 45:24much wraps up the recap. Joe, what do you have
- 45:27for calm call -outs? I only have one. It's not
- 45:29really a calm. I only have one as well, but it's
- 45:33so short and simple, but the context is so funny.
- 45:37So on lap eight, Russell says, it's raining,
- 45:40brilliant, while he's on slicks. That was it.
- 45:45It's raining, brilliant. Perfect. Such a good
- 45:49call -out. I laughed at that, too. That was pretty
- 45:50funny. My only one was one of the commentators
- 45:54was talking about Gasly. Of course, this is the
- 45:57one I catch. Just like last week where it's like
- 46:00taking candy from a baby or whatever. But this
- 46:04one he called ghastly. Another Red Bull reject
- 46:07looking like the real deal these days. Yeah,
- 46:09I saw that. I was actively laughing out loud
- 46:13at that. That was so funny, dude. That's crazy.
- 46:17Oh, that was so good. Also, shout out to Fernando
- 46:22Alonso being frustrated when the strategy wasn't
- 46:26working halfway through the race. And he got
- 46:28on. He's like, seriously, you guys just can't
- 46:30get it right for me, I swear. Who said this?
- 46:35There's another George Russell one where I think
- 46:37they're asking about his tires. I think this
- 46:39had to be later in the race. This might have
- 46:41been when he spun on lap 41 or whatever. Thinking
- 46:46about what tires to run and Russell's like, depends
- 46:50how brave you want to be. We're running P7. And
- 46:54they responded, brave, but not suicidal. We're
- 46:56still looking. Also, I just saw a new thing there
- 47:02that was spin. I think it was Russell where he
- 47:04was going through maggots and beckets. He, like,
- 47:07did the full, like, spin, spin, spin, and then
- 47:10got going straight again, and then just went
- 47:12through the grass the rest of the way through
- 47:14Magnuson Beckett's, and I was like, oh, we're
- 47:15playing Mario Kart now. Yeah, yeah. Like, this
- 47:19is a Mario Kart shortcut. That was when he just
- 47:21took on Slicks. Yeah. Yeah, it was so funny,
- 47:23because they just told him, not suicidal, and
- 47:26then, yeah. He went off like a helicopter, bro.
- 47:29It was crazy. Well, we kind of got a little break
- 47:34between this show and the next show. A little
- 47:37bit, yeah. We're going to be trying to run some
- 47:39time trials on F125, and hopefully we can share
- 47:43that with you. That's the part that we're also
- 47:46trialing, is to be able to share that with you.
- 47:49Excuse me. That is the goal. Otherwise, we're
- 47:52not back until... That's the 22nd? Is that when
- 47:56we're recording? That'll be when we're recording.
- 47:58We're pretty good about... Kev's pretty good
- 48:00about getting it... Kev is pretty good about
- 48:03getting it same night, so possibly the 22nd,
- 48:05maybe, if not the 23rd. Yeah, for sure. Any quick
- 48:09thoughts? We got these printed out. You know
- 48:12what? Let's do that and let's also bring up our
- 48:17standings. I'll bring those up. Don't worry about
- 48:19it. Oh, my friend. It's looking bad for both
- 48:24of us, but it's looking a little better for me.
- 48:27Shut up. Just slightly. I mean, is there much
- 48:32to talk about in driver team standings? I mean,
- 48:35driver, obviously, there's the battle. There's
- 48:37Piastri and Lando. That's going to come down
- 48:40to it. Yep. There was a couple things I wanted
- 48:43to state. The points between the bottom teams
- 48:47so much closer than last season, where we had
- 48:51a kick below 10 points for the entirety of the
- 48:55season, and now the lowest is 19, which is very
- 48:58good. So it's really nice to see bottom teams
- 49:02doing so well. Hulkenberg jumping to ninth with
- 49:0637 points. He's in the top 10 currently. Do we
- 49:10have top 10 predictions? Hulkenberg with 37 points
- 49:12is great. Yeah, we do. We do have top 10 predictions.
- 49:14Yeah, Hulkenberg's not in any of ours. It's hilarious.
- 49:18Oh, no, we have top five. Okay, okay, okay, okay,
- 49:20okay. He's not up there either. I got my whole
- 49:2420 still saved. Williams is still in the fifth.
- 49:27Somehow, okay, Sauber's now in sixth with 41
- 49:30points, followed by Racing Bulls and Aston Martin
- 49:32tied at 36. Haas is getting closer and closer
- 49:35to, I think I put Haas in ninth, didn't I? You
- 49:38did, yeah. And I put Kick in last. I think we
- 49:40all put Kick in last. I also had Haas and Kick,
- 49:439 and 10. Yeah, so Haas is unfortunate. I mean,
- 49:47they're not super far from Aston, and Aston's
- 49:50not having a good run. I'm trying to think if
- 49:52there's anything. Haas hasn't even been that
- 49:53bad this year. No. It's still like one race,
- 49:57as we saw for Kick, can completely change that
- 50:00bottom half of the standings. Russell is weirdly
- 50:03close to Verstappen. I know. That's crazy. And
- 50:08Leclerc is a little further away, but right up
- 50:10there with Hamilton. And then Antonelli is seventh,
- 50:13which is all things considered pretty good. Highest
- 50:15of the rookies. Yep. Kind of right about where
- 50:18I was kind of expecting him, I think. Wow. A
- 50:20lot higher than any rookies. 22 points higher
- 50:23than any rookie. Yeah. I mean, he's in a Mercedes.
- 50:25I expect no less. If he wasn't that much higher
- 50:28than the rest of the rookies, I would. And Hadjar's
- 50:33a solid. Hadjar's a solid 21, which is the second
- 50:36best of all the rookies. I would say he's the
- 50:38best of the rest for sure. Third is Liam at 12.
- 50:40Like Hadjar. Interesting. Hadjar and Liam might
- 50:44lose a job. It's possible. I put Kimmy at 8th
- 50:48in my predictions. Oh, he's pretty close. So
- 50:51that was pretty close. I also had... Crazy. I
- 50:55had... I had Esteban in 9th. He's in 10th. George
- 51:00in sixth. He's in fourth. I put Lewis Hamilton
- 51:05in fourth. That didn't age very well. Yeah. And
- 51:13then two of the three Alpines with zero points.
- 51:16Okay. I thought Gabriel Bordaleta wasn't going
- 51:18to score any points this season. I mean, to be
- 51:21fair, I didn't either. He had a crazy good race
- 51:23last weekend. And it's still only the two Alpine
- 51:27drivers that have yet to score. I also put Isaac
- 51:28Kajar in 18th. I was not feeling the hype for
- 51:31him going into this season. Boy, was I wrong.
- 51:34I did not expect him to have more points than
- 51:36Yuki Tsunoda on the season. At any point in the
- 51:39season. To his defense, he got to stay in the
- 51:41V -car. True. The better car. Let's see. Our
- 51:48points. We'll start with Mike. He picked Oscar
- 51:52George Max in that order for Silverstone. He
- 51:57got one point. This close. For so long during
- 52:01the race, I was slotted to get six points. And
- 52:05by so long, I mean like 18 laps. But that's beside
- 52:07the point. He got sucked into that. It was George
- 52:09anywhere near the top. Wait, I thought I said
- 52:12Oscar Lando Max. You said Oscar George Max. I
- 52:15did Oscar. You both took George. Well, you know
- 52:18what? It's crazy that you didn't put Lando in
- 52:21there. Yeah. Well, no, because remember I was
- 52:23saying I was going to have Lando to win, and
- 52:25then I decided to change it to Oscar because
- 52:27I was like, I won't be different from you. Gotcha.
- 52:30Because I did think Lando was probably going
- 52:32to win this race. He did say that. He wanted
- 52:35to be different. That's why he changed it. See?
- 52:37You got to do it for the sake of the standings
- 52:39next time. You know what? Content. Unbelievable.
- 52:42Yeah. Yeah. Woo -hoo. Sorry. That was weird.
- 52:49His inner demon came out. Joe, picking Lando,
- 52:54Lewis. Oh, I'm sorry. Mike got one point from
- 52:56those picks. So Mike is now at 28 points on the
- 53:00C zone. Joe, going with Lando, Lewis, and George.
- 53:05All British podium. The dream is dead. The dream
- 53:10is dead. Joe got two points. Moves to 29 points.
- 53:13One ahead of Mike. Carson! Small T, that's me.
- 53:19I went Lando, Oscar, Lewis. In that order, I
- 53:24picked Lando and Oscar were getting me the four
- 53:26points, and Lewis coming up short at four. Pete
- 53:29four. Moves me to 33 points. Almost my second
- 53:33six of the season. Do you remember what I said
- 53:35when we were picking predictions? I was like,
- 53:37I'm going to put Lewis in second because I actually
- 53:39think Oscar's going to get second, but I think
- 53:41Russell's more likely to get third, and so that's
- 53:43why I'm doing it in that order. But if Oscar
- 53:46was more likely to get second. I knew Oscar.
- 53:52Oscar, I think, is probably actually going to
- 53:55get second, but I want to put George in the place.
- 53:58I think George is going to get third. I wanted
- 54:01to get four points, and then Lewis was just a
- 54:03wild card for me, essentially. That whole episode,
- 54:05I was going to pick George in P3 as well. Seriously,
- 54:09but I don't know. Obviously, it didn't matter
- 54:12because I went with Lewis, and that wasn't it
- 54:14either. Like I said, I did it for the dream.
- 54:16Dream's dead. Man, I should have known better.
- 54:21I should have put Nico Hulkenberg in third. Yeah,
- 54:22I should have known. We got plenty of races left,
- 54:26plenty of more picks to come. Never know what's
- 54:30still going to happen in our... I mean, Joe's
- 54:33only four points back and Mike's within five.
- 54:35And he could get a six. It's true. You had six
- 54:40going during the race. It was close. Like 18
- 54:44laps. Have you had a six yet this year? No, I've
- 54:50had plenty of fours, I think. Yeah, you have
- 54:51had a lot of fours, yeah. I think I'm, like,
- 54:54usually, like, I'm not scoring basically anything,
- 54:56or I'm getting four. I think it's been my trend.
- 54:59I'm getting, like, either one or four. No, that's
- 55:02not true. No? Have any of us gotten zero? No,
- 55:05you've gotten two fours. None of us have gotten
- 55:08zero. I was just curious. None of us have gotten
- 55:11zero? That's pretty impressive, actually. I'm
- 55:12happy with that. I got a couple zeros last season.
- 55:17We're all voting on McLaren. You got two, two,
- 55:21three, two, four, four, three, one, three, one,
- 55:23two, one. Recently, you've been on the backswing.
- 55:27Your buttons recently is what he's saying. That's
- 55:31crazy. You've hit every single point possible.
- 55:33None of us have gotten five. There's no fives.
- 55:37Only one of us have gotten six. I'll change that
- 55:41next week. But that's six. We can't get five.
- 55:44What am I thinking? That's impossible. No, you
- 55:47can't. You'd have to get two perfect in the next
- 55:50one. It's either four or six. He's right. You
- 55:53can't get five. So every single score possible.
- 55:58And that's with the boys. I swear we all graduated.
- 56:03I promise. I know. As soon as you said it, I
- 56:06was like, dang, yeah, you're right. How can you
- 56:08get five? And then I started moving it around.
- 56:12I was like, I still can't get five. All right,
- 56:20we got to get out of here. All right. Yeah, next
- 56:22show, not for, what, two weeks to be established.
- 56:25We're going to run some time trials in F125.
- 56:27Look for that, hopefully, to be released sometime
- 56:29by end of next week or something like that of
- 56:33the sort, if we can figure out technology. Mike,
- 56:38thanks for being here, of course, as always,
- 56:39one of our co -hosts. Heck yeah. Heck yeah. Heck
- 56:43yeah. You hit that good. Nice. Joe, you can...
- 56:48You can call mom now. I was just about to say,
- 56:50might as well get your mom on the horn. Oh, she's
- 56:52been waiting outside for the past 40 minutes.
- 56:54Yeah, well, we got to go. This is supposed to
- 56:55be a short one. Her and the police are outside.
- 56:58Kev, as always, getting it done behind the cameras
- 57:01and the microphones and the cables. Okay, yep.
- 57:05And then don't forget to like, comment, subscribe
