- 0:22SPEAKER_00: This week we've been talking about ways to be a more productive writer.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And even though this podcast is called The Daily Rider, the reality is that many people don't write every single day.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: They might set aside time every couple of days or maybe once a week to work on their writing.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And I want you to know this is totally legitimate.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: You shouldn't take the concept of the quote unquote daily writer too literally because other people write in different ways and they can be effective as well.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: The main point is to write on some kind of regular basis, whatever that looks like for your schedule.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And the more regularly you do it, I think the better you're actually going to be.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So keep that in mind as well.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: There are some writing that I do not on a daily basis, but I do it weekly.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: For example, I write material for this podcast once every week or two.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: I write a bunch of episodes worth of content at the same time because I'm in that mental mode, and it goes a lot faster than if I were to try and set aside a few minutes every single day to write and record.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And this is called batching your work, and it's a great productivity principle.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Do similar kinds of work or write similar kinds of content at the same time because you're in that mental space already.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: You can do this with email, book content, podcasts, blogs, or anything else.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Give it a try and see how this can improve your writing output.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: All that said, however, I definitely want to encourage you to write something every day if you can, even if it's just five minutes worth of writing.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Take the concept of batching your work and apply it to some type of writing that you're currently doing.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: It might be emails, blog posts, podcast material, copywriting, or something else.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Hey, a big thanks to today's sponsor, which is Thumbprint Creative.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: You've heard the saying don't judge a book by its cover, but in the book world, that's absolutely not true.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: People do judge the quality of the book by its cover.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: In fact, the cover design is the first thing people notice about a book.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: That's why my graphic designer of choice is Christy Griffith, owner of Thumbprint Creative.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: I've worked with Christy for years, and she's designed covers and interior layouts for my own books, my ghostwriting client books, as well as a lot of books for friends that I've sent her away.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Christy works closely with you to design a layout that perfectly captures the theme and genre of your book.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: You can find out more by going to gothumbprint.com.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: That's got thumbprint.com.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: And if you'd like a personal intro to Christy, let me know.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I'd be happy to do so.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I'll see you next time.
