- 0:00Speaker 1: K legs and gentlemen, I have your attention.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Please.
- 1:45Speaker 1: The show starts in ten line eight seven six five
- 1:58Speaker 1: four fun.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Cool, Hey everyone, this is your girl sci BOOKUD eight
- 2:13Speaker 3: four three, and I am here to with you with
- 2:16Speaker 3: another author. So remember month of June is dedicated to
- 2:23Speaker 3: the men. It is all about the men of lit.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And so tonight I have a great personal personal guess
- 2:33Speaker 3: you guys. So this is his second release. His first
- 2:39Speaker 3: release was Flowers of Eve. Okay, we talked about that one. Okay,
- 2:45Speaker 3: that was for the ladies. Now the next book, this
- 2:50Speaker 3: one right here, is called Born from the Streets. And y'all,
- 2:54Speaker 3: y'all wanna talk of some gritty, real street lit. This
- 3:00Speaker 3: is what I'm talking about. Okay, there's a part I
- 3:04Speaker 3: can't tell y'all that just put it like this. Let's
- 3:08Speaker 3: think of a little bit of power mix with a
- 3:16Speaker 3: little bit of of Living Single. So in other words,
- 3:25Speaker 3: we got that buddy group. Then we got grandma's because
- 3:30Speaker 3: remember Living Single, how Cadijia's mom and Rejean's mom kept
- 3:35Speaker 3: popping up. Okay, well, in this case, is not the mom,
- 3:38Speaker 3: it's the grandma. Okay, So we're gonna mix all that
- 3:41Speaker 3: up and we're gonna have a nice, good, strong street lit.
- 3:47Speaker 3: That's for the fellas. Okay, I know y'all thinking, man,
- 3:51Speaker 3: men don't read. That is a lie. That is a
- 3:54Speaker 3: bull faced lie. Men read. They might not like to
- 3:59Speaker 3: be seen reading, but they do read. Okay. So then
- 4:05Speaker 3: this author and I we're going to have something coming
- 4:09Speaker 3: out later on this summer, might be early in the hat.
- 4:13Speaker 3: And that book is for the couples. Okay. So y'all
- 4:17Speaker 3: know how I like to bring in Okay, he brings
- 4:19Speaker 3: it even more. Okay. So this is a great opportunity
- 4:24Speaker 3: for you to meet the author. Le Kendrick Northern, come
- 4:29Speaker 3: on up and tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Like mckindrick Norman, I was born to Blyth. I'm saying
- 4:41Speaker 2: to say, Alabama, Uh about Eliabatha the car Alabama, Like
- 4:49Speaker 2: graduated Capital High School and for taking you know, so
- 4:55Speaker 2: uh like I say, over five years. You know dad
- 4:59Speaker 2: in the street. You know what I'm saying. He brought
- 5:02Speaker 2: to a point of my life where I'm incopulated. But
- 5:05Speaker 2: I didn't let that hold me down, hold me back.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I kept going in the same growth develop.
- 5:14Speaker 3: So now y'all do notice where he said he did
- 5:19Speaker 3: not let him did not let that keep him down. Okay,
- 5:25Speaker 3: that is so interesting because remember now this month, in
- 5:29Speaker 3: the month of July, it's a I mean month of
- 5:32Speaker 3: June is dedicated to the men of lit. There are
- 5:36Speaker 3: a lot of African American males and I'm only talking
- 5:42Speaker 3: about from where I am, who won't increase the opportunity
- 5:49Speaker 3: of the talent that they have to use them. But
- 5:52Speaker 3: this gentleman has all type of odds against him and
- 5:56Speaker 3: he's able to do that. So let me ask you
- 5:58Speaker 3: a question. How was it feeling your first book in
- 6:06Speaker 3: your hand once you had it published?
- 6:13Speaker 2: That's because feeling, uh, it's kind of like all the
- 6:17Speaker 2: days and that I try to, you know, to get
- 6:22Speaker 2: it to help the truish. I'm saying, all debry to
- 6:25Speaker 2: actually help me, and you know, it's just all the
- 6:29Speaker 2: fountains and years you had to climb over. You had
- 6:32Speaker 2: to keep going. Anytime you feel it down, you just
- 6:34Speaker 2: got to get that up and keep going. So once
- 6:36Speaker 2: I had got in my hand, it's just like no silence,
- 6:39Speaker 2: feeling that sensation like I did it. So basically it
- 6:43Speaker 2: wasn't anybody dropping the book accomplishing the goal.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Right now, see, And that that is something that you
- 6:51Speaker 3: could patch yourself on the back foot because you actually
- 6:54Speaker 3: accomplished that goal. So what made you can continue with
- 7:00Speaker 3: the book Born from the Streets?
- 7:06Speaker 2: Well, actually said a true boy on the street. Actually
- 7:08Speaker 2: my first book.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Uh.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I wrote that book uh at beginning of my puncuation
- 7:13Speaker 2: in ninety nine when I came to prison, and uh
- 7:17Speaker 2: files my second book. So it's pretty much it just
- 7:21Speaker 2: it just what I had. It wasn't no particular day,
- 7:24Speaker 2: but no ask my first book.
- 7:28Speaker 3: All right, So we all right got all the pull
- 7:31Speaker 3: memory stuff out the way, all right, Born from the Streets.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I know it is not like that love romance urban
- 7:49Speaker 3: lit that you did with Flowers of Ea. Why did
- 7:54Speaker 3: you feel that you took this turn with this one?
- 8:03Speaker 2: Actually, Like like I said there at the beginning of my conservation,
- 8:05Speaker 2: I come down, Uh the literature that was read down
- 8:08Speaker 2: here by a lot of literature. You know, that was
- 8:12Speaker 2: a big thing down here really still is. You know,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I had rean across It's often you know, I read
- 8:18Speaker 2: a book I don't say no name, and I have
- 8:21Speaker 2: read a book that you put out by another so
- 8:24Speaker 2: well I had learned it and fell it was recaculated,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you know, I'm saying, I like saying, and you kind
- 8:31Speaker 2: of book and read his book and him on the streets.
- 8:33Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You know, the streets out
- 8:37Speaker 2: of America is the same, every genevery who it's the same.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It's just got different dynamics. Uh, this is hot move
- 8:44Speaker 2: and just perspective when they moved in. So I said,
- 8:46Speaker 2: I said, hey, I can tell my stuff just like
- 8:48Speaker 2: they can tell their stuff. So I these opportunities to
- 8:53Speaker 2: hopefully get myself out of here.
- 8:57Speaker 3: So could you say in a way that you know,
- 8:59Speaker 3: the writing has contribute to your your well being or
- 9:11Speaker 3: mental well being in so many germs.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you can say that because all the time, you know, uh,
- 9:19Speaker 2: my writing is kind of like a therapy. At the
- 9:22Speaker 2: same time, reading it the therapy. But when I first
- 9:24Speaker 2: came down, I didn't even read like, you know, stuff
- 9:27Speaker 2: with with college and stuff like that. So if I
- 9:30Speaker 2: read that my stuff and gaining adders and my studies
- 9:32Speaker 2: and stuff like that. But I had written a lot
- 9:35Speaker 2: of urban stuff, you know what I'm saying. But last
- 9:38Speaker 2: I was reading it, I feel like, hey, man, so
- 9:42Speaker 2: a lot of stuff it's like bats, which is cool,
- 9:44Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. At the same time, I
- 9:46Speaker 2: wanted to write more later, but to the ministreets and stuff,
- 9:50Speaker 2: saying Lily twist on, you know, no one thing gonna
- 9:54Speaker 2: have some desperations whe at one kind of keeping club,
- 9:57Speaker 2: stick to the home.
- 10:00Speaker 3: That makes a lot of sense because a lot of
- 10:02Speaker 3: people will when it comes to reading. I kind of
- 10:06Speaker 3: see that a lot of people would read what they
- 10:09Speaker 3: watch on TV. And that is how I used to
- 10:13Speaker 3: always get my teens. I would say, Hey, what you're
- 10:17Speaker 3: looking at on TV literally came from a book, and
- 10:21Speaker 3: I was like, oh no, Miss Patrie's And I'll show
- 10:23Speaker 3: them like a script or something that I could find
- 10:25Speaker 3: online and they'd be like, oh, okay, So I do
- 10:28Speaker 3: understand you writing from what you know. So let me
- 10:31Speaker 3: ask you another question here. Now, these characters in these books,
- 10:41Speaker 3: why you bring Granny in the book? I love the
- 10:45Speaker 3: Granny character. She was so sweet, she loved her grandson
- 10:50Speaker 3: and I could tell her she would do anything for him.
- 10:53Speaker 3: But why make that character a female and not a male?
- 11:02Speaker 2: Well for one, uh, the women, the women in the world.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It's the stings that are period, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And the reason I did that, Like IM said, I
- 11:09Speaker 2: like to make my you know what I'm saying, And
- 11:13Speaker 2: I brought my passed away while I yah, yeah, my mother.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. We didn't pens a relationship
- 11:21Speaker 2: here that this got home, man, and I just can't
- 11:23Speaker 2: work with it. So I had to pick both captus
- 11:26Speaker 2: up there. So you really got really to my mama.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Mama cool, you know what I'm saying. But uh, you know,
- 11:33Speaker 2: she had the little flk got the man. They kept
- 11:36Speaker 2: me on the road, they kept me right, but I'm
- 11:38Speaker 2: just a hard head and kept going. So I had
- 11:40Speaker 2: to sprinkle just a little reality in there, a little
- 11:43Speaker 2: twist and there, you know what I'm saying. So you know,
- 11:46Speaker 2: you gotta gotta give complis to the women, the queens
- 11:49Speaker 2: that are.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Okay, so let's let's go there. We're saying by the
- 11:54Speaker 3: women given amish to them when it comes to literature
- 12:00Speaker 3: and just books in general. Why do you feel that, Well,
- 12:07Speaker 3: let me ask you a question. Do you feel that
- 12:11Speaker 3: the world of literature is more acceptable of a female
- 12:18Speaker 3: or a male? Which one do you think they are more? Oh, yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 3: we'll read your book or like, I don't know about that.
- 12:27Speaker 3: What do you think we get more love a female
- 12:29Speaker 3: or a male.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Did is really really even gain that love? I think
- 12:39Speaker 2: that beans I give my love. I can say that
- 12:41Speaker 2: it's all about the walking uh such music, you know
- 12:47Speaker 2: do they design? That's what what's going on. It's all
- 12:50Speaker 2: about what your blind got it at the time of
- 12:53Speaker 2: so depending on what the big thing is asigned eception
- 12:57Speaker 2: is going on in society and hand the one attention
- 12:59Speaker 2: and you put your your your attention toward day no
- 13:02Speaker 2: matter what what uh uh h h that you are.
- 13:06Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Yeah, I don't think it matter.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I think it's all about catching attendance. You know what's
- 13:13Speaker 2: going on at the time.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Okay, so let's go back to your book, Dante. How
- 13:27Speaker 3: do you relate to Dante in this book?
- 13:33Speaker 2: But Dante's it's a character that I feel, man because
- 13:38Speaker 2: you know, a lot of a lot of brothers out there,
- 13:41Speaker 2: you know, they asking of a father hip. You know
- 13:44Speaker 2: what I'm saying to Asser of a home period, getting
- 13:47Speaker 2: with so getting a part of I'm saying, it's being
- 13:50Speaker 2: a product environment. Everybody have a saying like there's no
- 13:54Speaker 2: such thing as being a podic bible. Basically it is
- 13:56Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, because what is you raised
- 13:58Speaker 2: to er, it's such as you raised in. That's what
- 14:02Speaker 2: you give out a list you may ask somebody to
- 14:05Speaker 2: do there be there to pull your coattel and be
- 14:08Speaker 2: your mentor or a guide or something like that. If
- 14:11Speaker 2: you ain't got that, man, you're gonna be a father
- 14:13Speaker 2: nobody whatever to round. That's what you is what I'm saying.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So he was way up ote the book. You'm saying,
- 14:19Speaker 2: he was having another father and a mother, and it's
- 14:22Speaker 2: a situation. I'm gonna give it away up how how
- 14:25Speaker 2: it happened like that, you know, and for the reason
- 14:28Speaker 2: to see. But at the same time, you know, I
- 14:31Speaker 2: want everybody to you here the show that he went
- 14:34Speaker 2: to run. I got hiway coming up to the juni stage.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And when you get older, you know what I'm saying,
- 14:39Speaker 2: So they can see like the basically the houses came
- 14:42Speaker 2: up in the streets, you know what I'm saying, and
- 14:44Speaker 2: then to relate to it like, hey man, I need
- 14:46Speaker 2: that too, Hey I need that, you know I'm saying.
- 14:49Speaker 2: So that's that's that's my whole one of getting a
- 14:51Speaker 2: character like that.
- 14:53Speaker 3: So why not, well I don't want to give it away,
- 14:57Speaker 3: but why not give him the ending that he desires
- 15:06Speaker 3: because I can't give it away. You guys, there are
- 15:09Speaker 3: so many twists and turns in this book till it's
- 15:12Speaker 3: not funny, even to the point where somebody kills their
- 15:16Speaker 3: right hand man. But to give him that happy ending?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Why why do you feel that in this book he
- 15:28Speaker 3: had to have the run? That's all I can say it.
- 15:33Speaker 3: That's all I see you, guys, is the run. Because
- 15:37Speaker 3: I give you this much, it's gonna be a part two.
- 15:39Speaker 3: And you're gonna see why there's gonna be a part
- 15:40Speaker 3: two when you read this one. But why not give
- 15:43Speaker 3: him that happy ending? Because I so feel that you're
- 15:47Speaker 3: about to snatch it all away from him. I so
- 15:52Speaker 3: feel that you're about to do this in part.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Two actually, and yes I have fart coming out. But
- 16:01Speaker 2: at the same time, uh, getting with the days decided?
- 16:05Speaker 2: How many people have happy ending? You know what I'm saying,
- 16:09Speaker 2: get our own happy ending. Once we get our own
- 16:12Speaker 2: happy endings and relate to who's doing where we are,
- 16:16Speaker 2: then I have the ends to be paid from our home,
- 16:19Speaker 2: personality down destination, what we're trying to be in. Like,
- 16:23Speaker 2: so there for you have you got to read the
- 16:25Speaker 2: book to see you get some twist turns to go
- 16:29Speaker 2: out to come country over life and everybody has the stage.
- 16:32Speaker 2: They have broken the tip and it's go and development.
- 16:35Speaker 2: You gonna run across different things and like just path
- 16:38Speaker 2: like different people in his life that he gonna see
- 16:40Speaker 2: different things that he didn't see the last time. You
- 16:42Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So who knows?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Mh You are correct that we have to make Can
- 16:54Speaker 3: I make his ending? Can Can I can? Can I
- 16:59Speaker 3: make it? Can I get if you're an ending for him?
- 17:01Speaker 3: I really want him to be happy. I don't want Yeah,
- 17:07Speaker 3: I don't want to give away to put like.
- 17:11Speaker 2: You gotta understand when you say you want.
- 17:13Speaker 1: To you have.
- 17:14Speaker 2: You got to understand that everybody they own person and
- 17:17Speaker 2: their own character. So you gotta understand and figure out
- 17:20Speaker 2: what to find happens, you know, because just happiness may
- 17:23Speaker 2: be different from your happiness. You know what I'm saying.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Something to use the special game they have, some people
- 17:29Speaker 2: have something to do physical they happen, you know what
- 17:32Speaker 2: I'm saying. So his books back here he says for
- 17:34Speaker 2: everything and all that, you know what I'm saying. But
- 17:36Speaker 2: at the same time, things keep coming up, Obstacles to
- 17:41Speaker 2: keep coming up, people turning their back up of him
- 17:43Speaker 2: as soon as you feel like they're there, you know
- 17:45Speaker 2: what I'm saying, And he's he's like, I'm a person
- 17:47Speaker 2: aware he will just want to be loved. I'm saying.
- 17:51Speaker 2: At the same time, he went the streets because they're
- 17:54Speaker 2: are gangs in the street. They can the games they
- 17:56Speaker 2: want to, but when it comes to the end of
- 17:58Speaker 2: the day, man, still they want.
- 17:59Speaker 1: To be love.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Okay, So Sha Rock, do you have a Ja Rock
- 18:08Speaker 3: in your life?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I gotta say, man, my book, my book
- 18:18Speaker 2: is it's like I say, I try to keep it relatable.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I try to keep the characters so where they sit
- 18:24Speaker 2: home with the people, they can you know you through
- 18:26Speaker 2: or whatever. But like I said, every author, every author
- 18:30Speaker 2: the right, man, I fear that they put their characters
- 18:32Speaker 2: in the book. So the certain person that is in
- 18:36Speaker 2: the characters, I'm saying, they come down and explot in
- 18:40Speaker 2: the book and something. But I'm not saying I did
- 18:43Speaker 2: not all this stuff and just you know about the
- 18:46Speaker 2: characteristic or something. So I kind of like give everything
- 18:51Speaker 2: even even even not even that even every character, even
- 18:53Speaker 2: the women. You know what I'm saying, A certain person
- 18:55Speaker 2: that is put out it it's part of at the
- 18:59Speaker 2: same time, just gotta find those two. It's just myself
- 19:03Speaker 2: expressing myself.
- 19:06Speaker 3: So what you're saying is in each one of the characters,
- 19:10Speaker 3: there's a part of you.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, the lady's doing it.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Hmmm. So let me ask this question, which one of
- 19:22Speaker 3: your characters is the most of you?
- 19:28Speaker 2: Gonna get that?
- 19:31Speaker 3: Come on, you can't do that now, Which one of
- 19:35Speaker 3: your characters is the most of you?
- 19:41Speaker 2: Well, is the character that everybody I haven't experienced that letter.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You can reading the book whatever, but the character that
- 19:48Speaker 2: everybody knows the most in the beginning was done that,
- 19:51Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But at the end they
- 19:53Speaker 2: bring me the book back, I'll get the same reaction
- 19:58Speaker 2: and they talk down or they say they hate a
- 20:01Speaker 2: man while he did Roberts. So everybody got their own
- 20:05Speaker 2: respective But at the same time, if you look at it,
- 20:08Speaker 2: everybody lives like that. Everybody had a mindset like that.
- 20:14Speaker 2: But the change they see a different perspective, like nobody
- 20:18Speaker 2: like its character.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Well, okay, now see you saying that everybody has a
- 20:29Speaker 3: Dante in them, and I'm trying to think, Yeah, to me,
- 20:37Speaker 3: Dante was a fighter. Are you trying to say that.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Do you think that Dante was a fighter in this book?
- 20:43Speaker 3: I think through everything that he went through this book,
- 20:45Speaker 3: he kept fighting. He never once gave up. He always
- 20:49Speaker 3: had I would say, a ram in the bush. I
- 20:55Speaker 3: might be wrong for seeing it like that, but or
- 20:58Speaker 3: let's just say he always had a back, a plan,
- 21:00Speaker 3: or he was one step ahead of what was going on.
- 21:03Speaker 3: He was a thinker and no one knows you're thinker.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, he was a think that. He was a person
- 21:13Speaker 2: that just like anybody that they have chalings, just like
- 21:16Speaker 2: anybody else have feelings, you know what I'm saying, influenced
- 21:20Speaker 2: just like anyone else can be influenced. And he was
- 21:22Speaker 2: going through what you call identity craziest way, trying to
- 21:26Speaker 2: find himself. You know, because he was in the front
- 21:28Speaker 2: of the book. You know, he took on a characteristic
- 21:31Speaker 2: and identity that wasn't either him, but the identity was
- 21:35Speaker 2: moved to him in the streets. And a lot of
- 21:37Speaker 2: times he had an identity. You gotta keep putting on
- 21:40Speaker 2: the facade, you know what I'm saying, to keep the
- 21:43Speaker 2: individual was trying to uphold. So everybody, I say, go
- 21:46Speaker 2: to it, because everybody goes to the own get it
- 21:48Speaker 2: to cross everybody themself to find them, you know what
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'm saying. So that what he was, he went through
- 21:54Speaker 2: a lot, That's what I'm basically saying, and.
- 21:57Speaker 3: That's why I want that happy anything for him. In
- 22:02Speaker 3: this book, he goes through I can't well, you said
- 22:07Speaker 3: we can't. We can't talk about that part. Mmm. Okay.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Let's go to the females in this book. And again
- 22:17Speaker 3: you guys, we're talking about the book going from the Streets.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Was this available right now on Amazons on Kindle unlimited? No,
- 22:24Speaker 3: it's on Kindle and it is on paperback. So the
- 22:31Speaker 3: ladies in the books, which female was your? Which female
- 22:37Speaker 3: is more like you?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Uh? Oh?
- 22:50Speaker 3: Let me see my grandma.
- 22:52Speaker 2: The character Richard that came from my my grandma, my mama,
- 22:56Speaker 2: just watching them being kids, watching and he let the
- 23:02Speaker 2: loved the love with you know what I'm saying, deep guy, Yes, yes,
- 23:08Speaker 2: that's the character water Trade. You know what I'm saying.
- 23:11Speaker 2: But like I said, one time, became a product of
- 23:13Speaker 2: my environment and got into the streets, you know, out
- 23:16Speaker 2: of their head, laid on me. You know I'm saying.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I say I say that.
- 23:21Speaker 3: So let's talk about Lisa and you know, I have
- 23:25Speaker 3: my fun questions, So we're gonna go ahead and bring
- 23:27Speaker 3: those fun questions in here. Okay. If Lisa was one
- 23:33Speaker 3: of Lisa was a hip hop artist, and Lisa is
- 23:40Speaker 3: the love interest of Dante. Correct, Yeah, okay, so Lisa
- 23:47Speaker 3: and Dante, I'm gonna give you what I first start
- 23:50Speaker 3: of her. Lisa and Dante was the black love of
- 23:56Speaker 3: Remy and Pappoos. Not. What we got now is that
- 24:00Speaker 3: I did a whole different thing. But I could see
- 24:04Speaker 3: them as Remy impact poos. Who do you see Lisa
- 24:09Speaker 3: and Dante.
- 24:10Speaker 2: As I think John j V h.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Whind Am too.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Man.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Okay, I guess I'm not a big behalf be behalf
- 24:26Speaker 3: behind fahing, so I can't really get into Beyonce like that.
- 24:31Speaker 3: But why them too?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Well? One uh JV was on the street. That's how
- 24:38Speaker 2: the string No Yahn says. She came up in a
- 24:43Speaker 2: good episode or whatever. Yeah, No, she had she looks
- 24:50Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying to take away through history
- 24:53Speaker 2: along with them. Boy, you know what I'm saying. So
- 24:56Speaker 2: in the book kind of want to give it away. Yes,
- 24:59Speaker 2: jar it's a wait, but it's a secret, you know
- 25:02Speaker 2: I'm saying. And then you got a boy friend, which
- 25:04Speaker 2: god that you know I'm saying, you know, it's way
- 25:06Speaker 2: through the stem saying that's how remen redmen and that
- 25:10Speaker 2: boat layer I mean actually kind of street. Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 3: How about Grandma? I saw Grandma as like a Loretta
- 25:21Speaker 3: divine type character. And Grandma's name is neither you guys,
- 25:31Speaker 3: So who would you say?
- 25:34Speaker 2: I would I don't know the lady name, but it's
- 25:36Speaker 2: a it's a it's a it's a mover war Room,
- 25:40Speaker 2: war war Room or something like that. Oh lad, with
- 25:45Speaker 2: a little more Gang.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Twitched do so you guys, I know y'all won't remember
- 25:50Speaker 3: the movie war Room. That's one of his mom's favorite movie.
- 25:54Speaker 3: So hello mom, he like, he's I'm gonna make him
- 25:58Speaker 3: look at forwards. Don't worry. But he said ward room,
- 26:02Speaker 3: So that's what I'm talking. I can see that. I
- 26:05Speaker 3: can see that. I can see that because she was
- 26:08Speaker 3: she was so about her grand baby. So I can't
- 26:10Speaker 3: see that. I can see that. Jay Rock, who do
- 26:15Speaker 3: we see as him?
- 26:20Speaker 2: Jay Rock? Uh? He's got a hard it's got a
- 26:27Speaker 2: hard h.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I'll tell you what about you said? Who nas? Yeah? Nas,
- 26:40Speaker 3: I don't know. I can't see him as mm.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Hmmm, no, hide in the street. Not in the street.
- 26:49Speaker 2: But he kind of like the yoldy old all the
- 26:51Speaker 2: beings something uncle and put everything and there he don
- 26:56Speaker 2: some flash at the same time, so that I say that's.
- 27:03Speaker 3: I was actually thinking it's funny. I would think it's
- 27:06Speaker 3: Selo Green.
- 27:10Speaker 2: You don't see that one.
- 27:12Speaker 3: I get, okay now body wise not But to me,
- 27:19Speaker 3: Jay Rock was kind of kind of flashy like he was.
- 27:24Speaker 2: He was like.
- 27:26Speaker 3: He would be that one that you be telling him
- 27:28Speaker 3: to tone it down something you didn't get that vibe. Well,
- 27:31Speaker 3: I'm asking the author did he get that vibe?
- 27:36Speaker 2: But you gotta you gotta really look at character. The
- 27:41Speaker 2: mother was like find things at the same time. M
- 27:45Speaker 2: hmmmh more mine for what's going on around him? How
- 27:50Speaker 2: do you know, don't think it too flashy to bring
- 27:53Speaker 2: on the wall?
- 27:54Speaker 3: So you can okay, okay, okay, So can I change that?
- 28:02Speaker 3: And can I say scarface?
- 28:10Speaker 2: I guess you could say that.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Why you doubt me with that? Yes? So let's talk
- 28:30Speaker 3: about you as a black male in the literary business.
- 28:35Speaker 3: How do you feel about African American authors not being
- 28:40Speaker 3: able to get the representation of the Big three and
- 28:45Speaker 3: what I mean by the big three or the big
- 28:48Speaker 3: publishing house Penguin, Simon and Schulcer and the other one.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Oh my god, just ran right out of my mind.
- 28:56Speaker 3: But how do you feel about African American author is
- 29:00Speaker 3: not being able to break that barrier yet.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I wanted to just stick one might be that stigma,
- 29:10Speaker 2: so be stereotyping our story. Ain't no difference for everybody's story.
- 29:14Speaker 2: So they just look at them as then you know,
- 29:17Speaker 2: get over over too glad to this and we do that,
- 29:21Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But at the same time,
- 29:23Speaker 2: we got the same story to tell. Put myself in
- 29:26Speaker 2: a specific jumper. You know, I got I got Desnage
- 29:30Speaker 2: books coming out. I got murder Misus, you know what
- 29:33Speaker 2: I'm saying. So I don't cut myself on one of
- 29:35Speaker 2: other comb So that's one thing here. They don't think
- 29:38Speaker 2: we for the time.
- 29:41Speaker 3: And you feel that versatility is a big thing when
- 29:44Speaker 3: it comes to being an author, or do you feel
- 29:46Speaker 3: that you may lose people because you're so versatile?
- 29:52Speaker 2: I diach you don't. I'm just speaking on myself. I
- 29:54Speaker 2: can't speak with no other occur. That's that's where I am.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I don't I don't have.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Okay, would you like to continue this or will you
- 30:05Speaker 3: not be able to?
- 30:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 30:12Speaker 3: Okay, no, how about you give us a call right back.
- 30:19Speaker 3: We can do about another fifteen minutes. How about that?
- 30:24Speaker 3: I okay? So I know you guys are wondering, like,
- 30:28Speaker 3: what is Patrice talking about? And why is she on
- 30:30Speaker 3: the screen by herself? And why can't we see this author?
- 30:33Speaker 3: Well again, this author's name is Kendrick Northern right now
- 30:37Speaker 3: he is incocerated in the Texas Department of Corrections. Okay,
- 30:43Speaker 3: why would I say that? It's because I want you
- 30:47Speaker 3: guys as authors and this is talking to me also
- 30:51Speaker 3: that stop playing around? Why are we not bringing out

- 32:10Speaker 3: and it's a training so we can talk about our brands.

- 32:40Speaker 3: ninety nine other authors. Ask us about it, okay, so
- 32:44Speaker 3: we have you back sir. Hello, all right, So let's
- 32:53Speaker 3: go back to this and talking about being African American
- 33:01Speaker 3: male in a literary literary sense. Okay, what do you
- 33:05Speaker 3: feel is the big the biggest obstacle when it comes
- 33:11Speaker 3: to being an African American author male author at that.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I think the big is im phially, you know, a
- 33:23Speaker 2: lot of a lot, you know. And at the same time,
- 33:26Speaker 2: like if you're just saying her come speaking of that chamber,
- 33:33Speaker 2: you know, and the guys they feel like, hey don't
- 33:37Speaker 2: know why I want to read that. You know what
- 33:38Speaker 2: I'm saying, as long as you get to a sad
- 33:40Speaker 2: and stop saying. But what you say to realize that
- 33:43Speaker 2: the acanize, one of the biggest consolas of products in
- 33:47Speaker 2: the United States is black. You know what I'm saying,
- 33:50Speaker 2: were then they go broke, you know what I'm saying,
- 33:52Speaker 2: just to buy a product. What I'm saying, So, I mean,
- 33:56Speaker 2: so a lot of times if they look at its
- 33:58Speaker 2: black and the.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Money Okay, okay, So do you do you see that
- 34:06Speaker 3: there is a a a deficit when it comes to patriots,
- 34:18Speaker 3: patriari patronizing African American authors.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean when you when you look at you
- 34:30Speaker 2: look at us as a whole. We had a struggle data,
- 34:35Speaker 2: but to get to the head out. I like, so
- 34:38Speaker 2: at the same time, again, how you know, look at
- 34:42Speaker 2: the look at the clubs and come after the bus
- 34:44Speaker 2: comps ran it's big clubs and ran by American you
- 34:50Speaker 2: know you got you got the black pubs and company,
- 34:53Speaker 2: but out considering Oka at the same time, who get
- 34:59Speaker 2: up with the chain? You know, I was screw behind
- 35:02Speaker 2: and that same we always pretty this spot. It's like, hey,
- 35:06Speaker 2: I get enough, I'm saying, and you can have them
- 35:09Speaker 2: if you come with the black office. And I'm saying
- 35:11Speaker 2: that a top down on everything. I'm saying, as we
- 35:15Speaker 2: books don't need anything, and so we're gonna through a
- 35:20Speaker 2: whole bunch of things getting Yeah, but uh as large, willing,
- 35:25Speaker 2: you know, objective of what I want to do, the
- 35:30Speaker 2: things I want to do, thet I want to put
- 35:35Speaker 2: out this cover the cars stand out from and I
- 35:39Speaker 2: have a brand new kome out, brand new scheme that
- 35:43Speaker 2: I know. Ain't nobody need know what I'm saying. Watch,
- 35:47Speaker 2: I'm here to put this down. I'm rest their game.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Okay, okay, we've seen you. You you already setting yourself
- 35:56Speaker 3: up so when you do come home, it is already lead.

- 36:15Speaker 3: I gotta have iceing on the key.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll do it.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Put on.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Now, come on, now, how you gonna give us some
- 36:25Speaker 3: dry cake? Don't do that now, don't do that. Not
