- 1:01and look who became a member my little
- 1:04sister your big sister apparently you know
- 1:08what that deserves thank you so much vicky
- 1:14appreciate you chick um
- 1:19Yeah.
- 1:20Dude,
- 1:21I got two things to talk about before
- 1:23we dive into things.
- 1:24Let's go.
- 1:25One,
- 1:25my wife's head is the size of my
- 1:27living room right now because of all the
- 1:29comments.
- 1:31Right.
- 1:32She overslept this morning for work,
- 1:34and I was like, what,
- 1:35now that you're famous,
- 1:37you just sleep in and go into work
- 1:39when you want to?
- 1:42I will attend to the peasants when I
- 1:44feel the need.
- 1:47Julie, probably.
- 1:48Yeah.
- 1:49Yeah.
- 1:50So we got that.
- 1:50And thank you everybody for the kind
- 1:52comments.
- 1:53She loved them.
- 1:55And I do think that she'll do more
- 1:57now because of the encouragement.
- 2:01So,
- 2:01and maybe I'll get her to go to
- 2:02the games.
- 2:05That'd be fantastic.
- 2:07The other thing is,
- 2:08why is it that like,
- 2:10when you do a home improvement project,
- 2:13if you're not making five trips to Home
- 2:14Depot,
- 2:15it's not a real home improvement project.
- 2:19and it doesn't even matter what kind of
- 2:20home improvement project like when we redo
- 2:22the flower beds um outside of my house
- 2:25dude like we'll go get mulch and then
- 2:27we'll come back and then we figure out
- 2:29that we need something else and then we
- 2:30go and we come back and then my
- 2:32wife's like well i also need this and
- 2:33we can't find whatever and where's the
- 2:36shovel i have absolutely no idea yeah no
- 2:39it doesn't even matter what it is me
- 2:40and home depot are that we're pretty close
- 2:44Yeah, so I bought a retractable hose.
- 2:48Yes.
- 2:49Right?
- 2:50So yesterday was I created the post into
- 2:53the ground.
- 2:55I painted it black.
- 2:56I let it cure overnight.
- 2:59went to put the bracket on today,
- 3:01took the drill, screw it,
- 3:04it just started like grinding, right?
- 3:06So, all right, got to back them out,
- 3:08go get a drill, pre-drill the hole,
- 3:11pre-drill the hole, put the screw back in,
- 3:14went further,
- 3:15but still not the whole way in.
- 3:17Okay,
- 3:18let's go get a socket wrench and a
- 3:20socket and we'll do this by hand.
- 3:23Crank, crank, crank, crank.
- 3:25So then I get the bracket on nice
- 3:27and tight.
- 3:28Then I have to get the reel with
- 3:30the hose in it.
- 3:32There are two holes there and two holes
- 3:34in the bracket and a post.
- 3:36I've got to drive down all the holes.
- 3:39Okay.
- 3:42Yeah.
- 3:43And while I am a CrossFitter and the
- 3:47hose was not too heavy,
- 3:50it was not light either.
- 3:51It's heavy enough.
- 3:52Right.
- 3:53As I'm trying to balance it and line
- 3:55up all four holes and this post.
- 4:00And then you're like jimmying it,
- 4:01jimmying it, jimmying it, jimmying it.
- 4:03And then all of a sudden,
- 4:04it just like flunks to the bottom.
- 4:08Now you got a whole new problem.
- 4:10Well, it works.
- 4:12It's set up.
- 4:14It pivots.
- 4:15I can, like,
- 4:16pivot it out of the way.
- 4:18And it's actually beautiful, man.
- 4:20But it just is like, man,
- 4:24thank God it just was trips to my
- 4:25garage and not trips to Home Depot.
- 4:28Yeah.
- 4:28But every step in was like, oh,
- 4:30my gosh, another...
- 4:33Joseph was like,
- 4:34is it really a successful home improvement
- 4:35project without at least ten trips to
- 4:38Lowe's or Home Depot?
- 4:40Yes.
- 4:41Bare minimum.
- 4:41That is the bare minimum.
- 4:43Bare minimum.
- 4:44That is bare minimum.
- 4:45A hundred percent.
- 4:48It's because the first part you buy is
- 4:50never the right size,
- 4:51so you have to go back and buy
- 4:52the correct part.
- 4:53Then hours later,
- 4:54you realize you need another piece tool
- 4:56that you don't have.
- 4:59Or that you did have,
- 4:59but you can't find.
- 5:01Right.
- 5:03And you know it's here somewhere,
- 5:04but I don't have time to look for
- 5:05it, so I'll just go get another one.
- 5:07That's how I ended up with, like,
- 5:09I have five different ten millimeter
- 5:12sockets.
- 5:14Yeah,
- 5:15on my on my on my to my
- 5:17with my tools, at least that's best,
- 5:19at least the minimum.
- 5:21And only two of them are like different
- 5:22ratchet sizes, like different.
- 5:24Everything else is all fits on my my
- 5:27my medium size.
- 5:28It's really it's insane.
- 5:29So that's what I bought that toolbox.
- 5:32I showed a picture of on all that
- 5:34stuff.
- 5:35Right.
- 5:35I'm buying all the organizers for inside
- 5:37it.
- 5:38I am so tired.
- 5:39of not finding what I need when I
- 5:41need it.
- 5:42And I'm too old to deal with that
- 5:44anymore.
- 5:45That anguish is too much.
- 5:47I've been needing to reorganize my sockets
- 5:50since we moved into the house,
- 5:53which was in twenty twenty.
- 5:57I bought a socket sword for the drawer
- 6:01that they're all labeled what size the
- 6:03sockets are.
- 6:05Yeah.
- 6:05I've been needing to do that since then,
- 6:06actually since before then.
- 6:08But
- 6:09it's such a daunting task because like i
- 6:12probably got two hundred sockets and they
- 6:15all go somewhere and i'm well aware that
- 6:17they go somewhere but like the the and
- 6:21then especially right now when it's ninety
- 6:23seven degrees outside and a hundred and
- 6:26ten inside my garage like i don't want
- 6:27to be standing there doing that for an
- 6:29hour or two hours however long it's going
- 6:30to take amanda says corey my the amount
- 6:34of things my husband is capable of losing
- 6:35in the garage is mind-blowing
- 6:38same i didn't know you we were married
- 6:39no man that's like yeah i understand wayne
- 6:43says guarantee guaranteed way to find a
- 6:45tool by another one it'll show up yeah
- 6:47that's also the fact i literally like as
- 6:50i'm as i'm putting together this new
- 6:53really nice toolbox i'm throwing so much
- 6:57away because i have so many duplicates
- 7:00yeah i wouldn't do that well dude
- 7:05So my wife and I have made a
- 7:06decision in the last couple of weeks that
- 7:08we are going to retire back in
- 7:09Pennsylvania.
- 7:11Okay.
- 7:12So my,
- 7:12my thought process is hoarding time is
- 7:15done.
- 7:16Like,
- 7:16cause cause when I retire in seven years,
- 7:20I've got to pack all this up and
- 7:21take it to PA.
- 7:22That's fair.
- 7:24Right?
- 7:25So the last four weeks I have filled
- 7:29my garbage can to the rim with things
- 7:32in my house that
- 7:35And I called them and got one bulk
- 7:37pickup done.
- 7:39That's my wife's dream job is just to
- 7:43throw stuff away that she does not think
- 7:46that we need.
- 7:48Whether or not I actually need it or
- 7:49not is immaterial.
- 7:53She'll get on a stack and she'll be
- 7:55like, mm-mm.
- 7:57come home i'll go to looking for stuff
- 7:58and i'm like i had it was right
- 7:59here i knew it was right here i
- 8:01saw it this morning oh yeah i threw
- 8:02that away you needed that apparently not
- 8:08Never throw away tools or scrap wood.
- 8:10You might need it in twenty years.
- 8:12One,
- 8:13I'm not going to be in this house
- 8:15in twenty years, so not keeping it.
- 8:17And my mom is going through this thing
- 8:19where my dad did that,
- 8:21did exactly what Andrew is talking about.
- 8:24He had coffee cans.
- 8:26What?
- 8:26They haven't made coffee cans in how long?
- 8:28Oh, you probably still get a can.
- 8:31And coffee cans full of nuts, screws,
- 8:35washers.
- 8:37And my dad died in twenty twenty.
- 8:40And now my poor mom can't lift the
- 8:41can.
- 8:44My grandfather was one of sixteen.
- 8:46All right.
- 8:47So I'll tell you a little bit about
- 8:48him right there.
- 8:49Growing up in Louisiana was helping one of
- 8:54his sisters one day tear apart and rebuild
- 8:56her porch.
- 8:58OK,
- 8:58this was when he was probably seventy two
- 9:00years old.
- 9:02And as they're pulling nails out to pull
- 9:04the old boards up,
- 9:05he's sitting there straightening nails.
- 9:10Right?
- 9:10Pulls them out.
- 9:11They crooked.
- 9:12He's going to straighten them out and
- 9:13putting them back in the can.
- 9:16My aunt looked at him and said, Howard,
- 9:18what are you doing?
- 9:19He said, Matt, it's still good.
- 9:20They just need, they just look.
- 9:24I understand.
- 9:24That's what I'm getting at.
- 9:25Like been there, done that.
- 9:28Like that dude,
- 9:29he never threw anything away because you
- 9:30never know when you might need it.
- 9:33I was that way for a long time
- 9:34and I've just like keeping things for
- 9:37sentimental value.
- 9:38Like it's in my head.
- 9:39I don't need this thing anymore.
- 9:41Right now, Shanna,
- 9:44now that's going a bit too far.
- 9:45No gym stuff is being thrown out.
- 9:49What I'm hoping is by this,
- 9:51the time this is done,
- 9:53instead of a third or a quarter of
- 9:55my garage being my gym,
- 9:57half of my garage is my gym maybe
- 10:00sold.
- 10:03Maybe so.
- 10:06If you have a reverse hyper in your
- 10:07garage,
- 10:08you can go ahead and sell it because
- 10:10you ain't using it in front of anything
- 10:11but a table.
- 10:12We had a reverse hyper at the gym
- 10:14for the first two years I was there
- 10:17before Cecil finally sold it because all
- 10:18anybody ever did was leaned up against it
- 10:21and made protein shakes on top of it.
- 10:23That pretty much was the beginning and
- 10:26ending of that.
- 10:29But even selling it, at some point,
- 10:31you're going to look back and go, oh,
- 10:32man, I shouldn't have sold that.
- 10:34I got an oddball.
- 10:35I got a sixty-five pound dumbbell.
- 10:37I sold that dumbbell.
- 10:38And then you're going to go back and
- 10:39looking for it.
- 10:40I could have used that sixty-five today.
- 10:43I don't get rid of gym equipment either.
- 10:45Well,
- 10:47the place we would move in Pennsylvania is
- 10:50a very large house.
- 10:53And I could have a massive gym there.
- 10:56in retirement and be like Tyson Bajan and
- 10:59just CrossFit the hell out of my day.
- 11:02CrossFit my face off.
- 11:03I love that.
- 11:03That was my favorite statement that he's
- 11:05ever done.
- 11:08Just CrossFit my face off and like I
- 11:10said, get huge and ripped and jacked.
- 11:14Love that dude.
- 11:16You got to go through every can.
- 11:18If he's like grandpa,
- 11:20he stashed cash everywhere in the house
- 11:21garage.
- 11:24I grew up Poe.
- 11:25He did not.
- 11:26I will say this.
- 11:28Him and my grandma died six months to
- 11:30the day apart.
- 11:31He passed away six months later than she
- 11:33did.
- 11:34My parents were going through their stuff,
- 11:37trying to figure out
- 11:39what money that they had,
- 11:41what bank accounts, what all.
- 11:43And the reason being is that they had,
- 11:45they had living wills.
- 11:47He left all of his stuff to my
- 11:49grandma.
- 11:50My grandma left all of this stuff to
- 11:51him,
- 11:52which FYI is a terrible way to do
- 11:54that.
- 11:58Yeah.
- 11:59Don't do that.
- 12:00If just,
- 12:00I'm going to go ahead and just throw
- 12:01that out there right now.
- 12:02Bad idea.
- 12:03And my dad never stored cash because we
- 12:05had none.
- 12:06And well, they,
- 12:07I remember mom saying at one point she
- 12:09didn't know if they had eighty dollars or
- 12:12eight hundred thousand dollars because
- 12:13like he worked turnarounds construction
- 12:16his entire life and like would be gone
- 12:18sometimes three four months at a time and
- 12:20they live simply like the house had been
- 12:22paid for forever right and they didn't I
- 12:25don't think I think the most exciting
- 12:28thing my grandpa ever bought was a brand
- 12:29new f-one fifty at one point and that
- 12:31was in like nineteen ninety six it's like
- 12:35My dad made good money.
- 12:36He just was laid off for so much
- 12:38of the eighties.
- 12:39Yeah.
- 12:40Like, and it, and,
- 12:42and then you're behind on everything
- 12:43because you're,
- 12:45you're laid off and he actually worked two
- 12:47jobs late into the eighties to help catch
- 12:50us up.
- 12:51And then, thankfully,
- 12:54after we left home and they raised my
- 12:56nephew,
- 12:58they went to Hawaii a couple times.
- 13:00They went to Punta Cana.
- 13:03They finally got to a place where they
- 13:04could do what they wanted to do.
- 13:05That's awesome.
- 13:11I had a bunch of stuff,
- 13:12but because we have to do a short
- 13:13show today, I wanted to dive in this.
- 13:16If we have time at the end,
- 13:17we can talk about other stuff.
- 13:18Hit it.
- 13:19But Bruce Edwards appeared at the two
- 13:22brains conference over last weekend.
- 13:26They've been trickling out some of the
- 13:27stuff and actually two brains on their
- 13:30YouTube channel put the full conversation
- 13:33with Bruce out.
- 13:35Yeah.
- 13:35I want to watch that at some point.
- 13:36And I watched it all yesterday.
- 13:38I took some notes.
- 13:40Um, but before that, you know,
- 13:42what helps you pay attention during that
- 13:44time is third Z and a good night's
- 13:46sleep and good recovery.
- 13:49And Thirdsy just doesn't relax you.
- 13:52It actually helps you recover.
- 13:54And that's why it's better than everybody
- 13:56else.
- 13:58And you can get yours for fifteen percent
- 13:59off at Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
- 14:03That is promo code Jazzy at checkout.
- 14:05It'll get you fifteen percent off.
- 14:07So with that being said,
- 14:09I'm going to play this one clip and
- 14:12I may play a second that Two Brains
- 14:14put out on Instagram.
- 14:17And this is him talking about the
- 14:19de-affiliated affiliates.
- 14:23We gave CrossFit a whole bunch of money
- 14:24to go on a beer ride and they
- 14:25never came back and they kept the money.
- 14:26And I said, so I'm here.
- 14:28I'm going to bring the beer back.
- 14:29So there's a lot of affiliates like me
- 14:31who were long time affiliates and then
- 14:33de-affiliated.
- 14:35What would you say to those affiliates in
- 14:37the room?
- 14:37I don't think de-affiliation is,
- 14:39I don't think there's any shame about
- 14:41that.
- 14:42The important thing is listen to the
- 14:44message or the messages because there's
- 14:46more than one.
- 14:47And when we do that and we create
- 14:49a big
- 14:49your community again,
- 14:50then people will come back.
- 14:51And if you're ready now, great.
- 14:52If you aren't,
- 14:53you're waiting to see and that's okay too.
- 14:56The proof in the pudding for me and
- 14:58the team is to put the value back
- 14:59in.
- 15:00We gave CrossFit a whole bunch of money
- 15:01to go on a beer run and they
- 15:02never came back and they kept the money.
- 15:03And I said, so I'm here.
- 15:05I'm going to bring the beer back.
- 15:06So there's a lot of affiliates like me
- 15:08who were long time affiliates and then
- 15:10de-affiliated.
- 15:12What would you say to those affiliates in
- 15:14the room?
- 15:14I don't think de-affiliation is,
- 15:16I don't think there's any shame.
- 15:21What I love about that is he's not
- 15:24saying, we're not going to forgive you.
- 15:27He's saying, I understand.
- 15:30I understand why you would de-affiliate.
- 15:33And because of that, you're welcome back.
- 15:36And we're going to change the message.
- 15:38We're going to make messages that are more
- 15:42in line with what you as affiliate owners
- 15:44need.
- 15:47I feel like what he said was,
- 15:49we are going to do stuff to warrant
- 15:53you coming back because we want you back.
- 15:56Like that's what I got out of that,
- 15:58which is an outstanding first message to
- 16:01get out to affiliates.
- 16:02If they're listening,
- 16:03if they're paying attention.
- 16:04And the story at the beginning got kind
- 16:06of cut off a little bit,
- 16:07but he says that he has,
- 16:09he had a friend that was an affiliate
- 16:11owner and he felt like he was giving
- 16:13beer money to CrossFit and they went on
- 16:16a beer run and never came back and
- 16:17never came back.
- 16:18Yeah.
- 16:20And, and he understood that.
- 16:23and um and so he's he said i'm
- 16:27here to bring the beer money back the
- 16:32couple of clips i've seen several clips
- 16:35i've seen actually i am highly encouraged
- 16:39So here's a couple notes.
- 16:41First,
- 16:41I got to get this out of the
- 16:42way because damn.
- 16:44So Howie is giving us forty nine ninety
- 16:48nine, not for us,
- 16:49but for the ladies games fund.
- 16:51And if you didn't listen to Sunday night,
- 16:54once we know what Carolyn's doing after
- 16:56this weekend,
- 16:57I'm going to do a week where all
- 16:59of the super chats go to fund them
- 17:02getting to the games.
- 17:05i'm also looking at i'm also looking we're
- 17:08not doing that yet i'll put howie's in
- 17:10that pot because but um we're not doing
- 17:14it yet because i'm also looking at making
- 17:16some t-shirts
- 17:18Because we've not had any t-shirts with
- 17:20the new logo,
- 17:22with the horse with the barbell.
- 17:24So I'm trying to figure out something with
- 17:26that to also help them out to get
- 17:30them to the games.
- 17:31So thank you so much, Howie.
- 17:34Appreciate it.
- 17:38Here's a couple things that he said during
- 17:40the thing that lit me up,
- 17:41and that is,
- 17:44we've got to bring media back.
- 17:46That I was excited about.
- 17:49And not only bring media back,
- 17:52but realize that you, Corey,
- 17:56your media is just as important as our
- 17:58media HQ.
- 17:59Yep.
- 18:01That you telling your personal story means
- 18:04as much to the general population as us
- 18:07HQ driving it.
- 18:10And together, it's a superpower.
- 18:14he was there when all of that was
- 18:15happening, when it initially happened,
- 18:17he saw it firsthand.
- 18:19So, so yeah,
- 18:21we're going to do that again.
- 18:23So I think, and he doesn't like,
- 18:26there's not enough time in this interview
- 18:27for him to go into detail.
- 18:28Right.
- 18:29But it sounded like,
- 18:31like more sharing of stories that people
- 18:34have already shared themselves.
- 18:36Plus creation of the,
- 18:38of new stories and right.
- 18:41Sizing it.
- 18:43As instead of so much games media,
- 18:47more affiliate media.
- 18:49Yeah.
- 18:49More the, I,
- 18:51I turned my life completely around.
- 18:53I lost a hundred pounds and I can
- 18:54play with my kids now and whatever,
- 18:57like pick a thing.
- 18:58Right.
- 18:59Yeah.
- 19:00More of that.
- 19:01And the games are going to take care
- 19:02of themselves.
- 19:04Right.
- 19:06If you build the community up,
- 19:08the games will build as well.
- 19:10A hundred percent.
- 19:11That's how it happened the first time
- 19:12organically.
- 19:14And he said over and over again,
- 19:15the affiliates are the most important part
- 19:17of this.
- 19:18Yeah.
- 19:19Well, if nothing else, dude,
- 19:21the games are going to take care of
- 19:22themselves between Savan, Hiller,
- 19:25like pick a person, spin us,
- 19:29whoever's out there, Amanda,
- 19:32those stories will get told.
- 19:34easily without without much more than just
- 19:37media affiliates are the number one
- 19:39priority hundred percent right and that
- 19:42means funding that means uh tools that
- 19:45means every giving them everything they
- 19:48need he says subject matter experts we
- 19:51just start making that that kind of stuff
- 19:53back online well that's partnerships that
- 19:56was another highlighted moment i said yeah
- 19:59he is open to partnering with
- 20:03tons of different aspects as he should be
- 20:07and one aspect was just the subject matter
- 20:11experts he doesn't understand why we got
- 20:13rid of them and why crossfit tried to
- 20:17do it all themselves let the subject
- 20:20matter experts who have built this thing
- 20:23and built this business on their own
- 20:25partner with you and use that instead of
- 20:28trying to recreate the wheel if you if
- 20:31you
- 20:34observe acknowledge whatever you want to
- 20:35call it somebody adding value to something
- 20:39then why would you want to take that
- 20:40away from them why not just highlight them
- 20:42use them for what they have and make
- 20:45and fold them in we've long greg long
- 20:49said a long time ago hey bro if
- 20:51i we see something that works we're going
- 20:54to do that blatantly
- 20:58So same thing with the subject matter
- 21:00experts.
- 21:00Like if you are – if Scott knows
- 21:03more about wall balls than anybody else on
- 21:05the planet, mechanics, how they go, blah,
- 21:06blah, whatever,
- 21:07then we're going to talk – we're going
- 21:08to get with Scott,
- 21:09and that's what we're going to do.
- 21:11Why wouldn't you?
- 21:15I don't think it's just a handoff either.
- 21:17It's not like – he was specific about
- 21:20partnering,
- 21:21which means –
- 21:24benefiting both sides, right?
- 21:26Not just like we talked about this week
- 21:30with dumping the stuff on the third
- 21:31parties event organizers, right?
- 21:36I don't think the third party event
- 21:37organizers get the benefit they think
- 21:41they're getting, right?
- 21:42But anyway,
- 21:44but then he kept coming back to affiliates
- 21:46are most important thing and we've got to
- 21:48reprioritize that.
- 21:50He loves the games,
- 21:52but it has to be prioritized correctly.
- 21:56And he said that straight out.
- 21:58He also identified them as an education
- 22:01company,
- 22:04which are some of the magic words.
- 22:08He also at times said, you know,
- 22:11they talked about his history with Greg
- 22:13and being one of his first clients and
- 22:16starting with Greg before CrossFit
- 22:17started.
- 22:19He also wasn't afraid to say things that
- 22:23Greg did that he didn't agree with.
- 22:26As he should.
- 22:29You have to be honest.
- 22:30If you're going to be in that public,
- 22:33you're going to be the figurehead,
- 22:36basically.
- 22:36God is going to move these chess pieces
- 22:39around and whatnot.
- 22:41You need to be transparent.
- 22:42You need to be honest.
- 22:42Hey, I didn't like when Greg did X,
- 22:44Y, Z. We're not going to do that.
- 22:47When the example you used there was that
- 22:49Greg refused to like,
- 22:53and Greg always says be a fish oil
- 22:55sales company, right?
- 22:58I don't think Bruce is afraid of that.
- 23:01I think anyway,
- 23:02anything that like affiliates have figured
- 23:05out that if they do sell things other
- 23:07than fitness in their gym, it helps their,
- 23:11their bottom line.
- 23:12And he said,
- 23:13we can't be afraid to make money.
- 23:15And you as affiliate owners need to be
- 23:17able to make money.
- 23:19And so he's not afraid with partnering
- 23:22with those things that help out the
- 23:24affiliates.
- 23:27Now,
- 23:28I hope to God it's not like way
- 23:30over in the other direction,
- 23:31but spots about Coca-Cola.
- 23:35Right.
- 23:39And then the last thing he said,
- 23:40the question to him was,
- 23:43if you're adding all of this stuff,
- 23:45like media and all of that stuff,
- 23:47what are you taking away?
- 23:49And his answer was pretty brilliant.
- 23:51It was like,
- 23:53we're doing a lot of silly things right
- 23:55now.
- 23:57that have no return of value.
- 24:01And Chris asked him, well,
- 24:03what are those things?
- 24:04And he goes, well, this is,
- 24:06this is the way I'm going to handle
- 24:07it.
- 24:08We need to be laser focused on what's
- 24:09important.
- 24:11And when we get laser focused on what's
- 24:13important,
- 24:14the silly things are going to fall away.
- 24:19It's almost like if you make the main
- 24:20thing, the main thing,
- 24:21everything else that's extraneous will
- 24:23just all the way and nothing else is
- 24:26going to matter.
- 24:27about that that's a fantastic answer i
- 24:31love that yeah and and he said we
- 24:35we have got to realize what is important
- 24:38to us and with that that has to
- 24:42be the focus and everything else can go
- 24:46away unneeded unnecessary trim the fat
- 24:51type stuff but without even having to trim
- 24:53it because if we just focus on the
- 24:54correct things other stuff will just die
- 24:56out naturally
- 24:58Yeah, I like that.
- 24:59I'm sure he'll give it a push or
- 25:01a shove.
- 25:03But in a public forum like this,
- 25:04he's not going to go into details about
- 25:07all of that, right?
- 25:11No, no.
- 25:11And he said most of the big changes
- 25:13will happen in the fall.
- 25:15After the games.
- 25:17Um...
- 25:20Yeah, probably.
- 25:21I don't know.
- 25:21I mean, if it's in the fall,
- 25:22it's going to be after the games.
- 25:23The games are in six weeks.
- 25:25Yeah.
- 25:26I think he just needs time to get
- 25:28the right people in place to be able
- 25:30to pull it off.
- 25:31I like it, dude.
- 25:34I like it a whole lot.
- 25:37I like it a whole lot.
- 25:39Tessa, cluttered house, cluttered mind.
- 25:42Yeah.
- 25:43That was like the beginning of our show.
- 25:44Getting rid of the stuff, man.
- 25:47If you got forty eight tabs open on
- 25:49your computer.
- 25:51Right.
- 25:52On your browser,
- 25:53like that's going to be a problem.
- 25:55Because it's funny because Tessa,
- 25:57this is actually she's commenting back on
- 26:00when we were talking about getting rid of
- 26:01the stuff in our house.
- 26:03But in all actuality.
- 26:05It the silly things are cluttering the
- 26:07CrossFit house.
- 26:09Correct.
- 26:11And they've got to get rid of that
- 26:12stuff.
- 26:16Love it, dude.
- 26:16Love it, love it, love it, love it,
- 26:18love it.
- 26:25Yeah, Daniel.
- 26:25I know there's a bunch of documentaries
- 26:28that have been coming out about everyday
- 26:30people in the gyms.
- 26:34And I think that the media team has
- 26:36moved in a very good direction.
- 26:41I think this is one,
- 26:43they're too small to do everything he
- 26:44wants.
- 26:45I'm assuming he's probably going to bring
- 26:47some more people back.
- 26:49Um,
- 26:52but I think you're going to see more,
- 26:57not so right now,
- 26:59what it is is people who have overcome
- 27:06great obstacles to get back into the gym.
- 27:09But they're also just your average
- 27:11everyday people that come in and just do
- 27:15the shit.
- 27:17And that's – so you're getting this
- 27:19extreme where the guy went to prison or
- 27:22the guy was five hundred pounds or
- 27:25whatever.
- 27:25Or you're getting road to the games.
- 27:27And there's no in between.
- 27:29There's nothing in the middle.
- 27:31No.
- 27:31And so I'm glad you said that.
- 27:33So yesterday morning –
- 27:36uh my six o'clock girls i got the
- 27:38two ones that started right about the
- 27:39first year and they're coming along right
- 27:41they're they're picking stuff up well
- 27:42yesterday we had snatches so we were
- 27:44working on snatching and they had
- 27:46something to work out or whatever and i
- 27:47was talking to one of them afterwards
- 27:49because like she would get to the barbell
- 27:51because it was snatching for the strength
- 27:55portion and for the metcon
- 27:57She'd get to the barbell,
- 27:58and her first three out of the ten
- 28:00would look fantastic.
- 28:02And as soon as she would get tired,
- 28:03they would start.
- 28:04And it wasn't that she wasn't strong
- 28:06enough.
- 28:07It was that she wasn't – as soon
- 28:09as she got tired, oh,
- 28:10I can't do this tired.
- 28:11You could see it on her face.
- 28:12So I was talking to her about afterwards.
- 28:14I said, okay,
- 28:16so the biggest thing that we actually do
- 28:18in this gym, besides getting fit,
- 28:20is we make confident,
- 28:22capable people who are extremely hard to
- 28:25kill.
- 28:26I said,
- 28:26what I need from you right now is
- 28:27just that confidence because we went
- 28:30through it.
- 28:30You clearly know how to do it and
- 28:31whatnot.
- 28:33And that alone,
- 28:34just watching that small little bitty
- 28:37story that took place in, you know,
- 28:39a fifteen minute Metcon and five minutes
- 28:42after whatnot would be something for
- 28:44people to see.
- 28:46in my opinion,
- 28:47to just see and understand people on the
- 28:49outside, not media that's feeding itself,
- 28:53not a commercial for CrossFit during the
- 28:55CrossFit Games,
- 28:56which I always thought was mind-blowing,
- 28:58especially when it's on YouTube and that's
- 29:00the only way you can find it is
- 29:01by actually searching for it.
- 29:02But if we're going to put stuff out
- 29:05for the general public to be able to
- 29:07see, that kind of stuff,
- 29:09right?
- 29:10Not, she didn't lose a hundred pounds.
- 29:12She's just trying to figure stuff out in
- 29:14the daily portion of it,
- 29:16getting coached and is learning not just
- 29:19how to snatch,
- 29:20but how to trust herself in just a
- 29:22daily everything.
- 29:23Hey, you are capable.
- 29:24You are confident.
- 29:25You are fit.
- 29:25You can do these things because we do
- 29:27hard things.
- 29:30That message needs to be out there.
- 29:34Yeah.
- 29:35I, Vicky wrote an article and if,
- 29:38please go check her out on Instagram and,
- 29:42and click on it and read it.
- 29:43But it talks about like all of the
- 29:47mental aspect of trying to walk into a
- 29:50gym and not being able to because of
- 29:53spotlight syndrome, whatever you want to,
- 29:57where you think everybody's looking at
- 29:58you.
- 29:59When the reality is they're all worried
- 30:01about their own stuff.
- 30:02Anybody looking at you, bro?
- 30:03Right.
- 30:05And what CrossFit gives you when you walk
- 30:07into that gym is the confidence that you
- 30:11can overcome hard things.
- 30:15And that hard thing for you may be
- 30:17completely different than what that hard
- 30:19thing is for me.
- 30:20Absolutely.
- 30:22What is true across the whole thing is
- 30:25that we've all overcome our thing.
- 30:29And she, please go read the article.
- 30:32But what it made me think about is
- 30:35when I first went in,
- 30:36I was scared out of my mind.
- 30:40I had that spotlight syndrome.
- 30:42I had all of that, right?
- 30:43Oh, yeah.
- 30:44And then a couple classes in,
- 30:46I was like,
- 30:49she makes the example of like when she
- 30:51first went into a gym,
- 30:52her name was always last on the
- 30:53whiteboard.
- 30:56But that almost became a badge of honor
- 30:58for me.
- 31:00Because yeah, I'm not the fastest.
- 31:02I'm not the strongest.
- 31:04But doggone it,
- 31:05I'm finishing all the things they're
- 31:06finishing.
- 31:10And another member wrote me a letter
- 31:12saying that I inspired them because I
- 31:16never gave up.
- 31:19And you might as well lit me up
- 31:22like a Christmas tree.
- 31:24Scott's heart grew three sizes that day.
- 31:28Like I did that?
- 31:30Yeah,
- 31:31and I never looked at myself that way.
- 31:34Most people don't.
- 31:38Most people don't.
- 31:41And those are the stories I think the
- 31:43media team are missing.
- 31:45Yeah.
- 31:46Because it's not the guy who was in
- 31:48prison.
- 31:49It's not the guy who was five hundred
- 31:50pounds.
- 31:51It's just average,
- 31:53ordinary people being brave enough to take
- 31:56one step and realizing
- 31:58that this can change their life a hundred
- 32:02percent i i gotta save somewhere but there
- 32:05somebody wrote it on a whiteboard
- 32:06somewhere and i write it on all whiteboard
- 32:08every once in a while is that if
- 32:09you let it this place will change you
- 32:13and it will be for the better i've
- 32:15never met anyone who has stayed in it
- 32:18or even was in it for a while
- 32:19and got out for whatever reason who is
- 32:21who will tell you that they're not a
- 32:23better person for it
- 32:25Yes, you will get some of those people.
- 32:26I did CrossFit and then... Those are,
- 32:30that's the exception, not the rule.
- 32:34I do not know anybody who has come
- 32:36away from it and been like,
- 32:39even the people that we have that will
- 32:41disappear for three, five,
- 32:43seven months at a time and then come
- 32:44back.
- 32:45When they come back, they're like,
- 32:46I miss this so much.
- 32:49And it's community.
- 32:50It's not just the workout.
- 32:51It's being in there and understanding that
- 32:54it's okay to
- 32:56If you need to go, it's okay.
- 32:57If you want to come back, it's okay.
- 33:00We're still going to be here.
- 33:01We're still going to try to make you
- 33:02better every single day.
- 33:03Like that is our job.
- 33:05Joseph says it can change or save your
- 33:07life.
- 33:07It definitely can.
- 33:09And those are the stories that need to
- 33:11be told.
- 33:12And I saw,
- 33:13I think it was Grace's said that the
- 33:16Jillian story.
- 33:17I love that.
- 33:18I love that woman.
- 33:21Love her.
- 33:21It's awesome.
- 33:22In fact, I have one queued up,
- 33:24but we don't have time today.
- 33:26I'll do, we'll do it tomorrow.
- 33:30And that that's closer to it.
- 33:31That's definitely closer to it.
- 33:34But they said something on the spin last
- 33:35night that someone had made a comment.
- 33:39If I finished out, in the open,
- 33:42where does that put me globally?
- 33:44And they're like top one percent,
- 33:46like top one percent.
- 33:50If you do the open,
- 33:52you're in the top one percent easily.
- 33:56Easily.
- 33:57That's the other thing.
- 33:59A couple hundred thousand do the open and
- 34:01there are billions of people worldwide.
- 34:04You're in the upper echelon of fitness.
- 34:07That's another thing that I stress on,
- 34:10especially my,
- 34:10my six AM ladies is that when you
- 34:13go out into the world,
- 34:15you are not like other people.
- 34:18You're just not like the, the, the song,
- 34:21they not like us that applies.
- 34:24general population as opposed to somebody
- 34:27who goes into a CrossFit gym three days
- 34:29a week, four days a week,
- 34:30five days a week, they not like us.
- 34:35And it's not just how we look and
- 34:37it's not just,
- 34:38it's a mindset thing because I'm going in
- 34:41there
- 34:42If I'm going and I've been there for
- 34:44more than a month,
- 34:45I know that when I get there,
- 34:47I'm going to talk to some people,
- 34:49high five some people,
- 34:50and whatever we are fixing to do is
- 34:52going to hurt.
- 34:53I'm well aware of that.
- 34:54And I'll do it anyway.
- 34:57To conclude this whole discussion about
- 34:58Bruce, I'm optimistic.
- 35:03I think the way he talked, and again,
- 35:06you can go to Two Brains YouTube channel
- 35:09and watch the entire interview.
- 35:11It's only about thirty minutes.
- 35:15So go check it out.
- 35:17It's a good listen.
- 35:20While he didn't divulge a lot of the
- 35:23specificity of what he's going to do,
- 35:28I'm sure people are going to be impacted
- 35:30that currently work there.
- 35:32Yeah.
- 35:34there there definitely seemed to be way
- 35:36more of a plan than the previous two
- 35:39CEOs well it sounds like he has a
- 35:43plan yeah um and I did not hear
- 35:47thirty million CrossFitters I was about to
- 35:49say that I was about to say it
- 35:51I'm willing to bet he did not he
- 35:53did not say thirty million CrossFitters
- 35:56yeah it is
- 35:59Yeah.
- 36:01So go watch it.
- 36:02It's awesome.
- 36:03Less gobbledygook,
- 36:05less of all that stuff and more like
- 36:09this is who we are.
- 36:10This is what we need to improve on.
- 36:13What's that?
- 36:14No malarkey.
- 36:16No malarkey.
- 36:16No gobbledygook, no malarkey,
- 36:18none of that.
- 36:19No, no, no baloney.
- 36:21No baloney.
- 36:22Just straight ribeye.
- 36:25Meat on the bone, baby.
- 36:27Meat on the bone.
- 36:28Gotta love it.
- 36:30I was telling my girlfriend this.
- 36:32I have to remember to compare myself to
- 36:33the rest of the world,
- 36:34not the other people in my gym or
- 36:36in CrossFit.
- 36:37I'm way fitter than a general person.
- 36:39Yeah,
- 36:40I think I fell into that trap because
- 36:42all my friends were CrossFitters.
- 36:45Like all my really close friends were
- 36:47CrossFitters.
- 36:48And then you start comparing yourself to
- 36:49them.
- 36:53And that's when you get into trouble.
- 36:55Because I do that, right?
- 36:56And I'm like,
- 36:57I understand that I live in a bubble.
- 37:00Like,
- 37:01I get that because the people I talk
- 37:03to, the people I associate with,
- 37:05all of my friends are CrossFitters at
- 37:07various levels.
- 37:09From people that just started,
- 37:11from people that's been doing it forever,
- 37:12to full-on games athletes.
- 37:15I understand.
- 37:16I get that I live in a bubble.
- 37:17Well, and it varies by degree, not kind.
- 37:21Just like CrossFit.
- 37:22Absolutely.
- 37:22Because if I'm talking to Carolyn,
- 37:25she's comparing herself to Laura Horvat.
- 37:29Yeah.
- 37:30Right?
- 37:32It's just a weird thing that we as
- 37:34humans do.
- 37:34A hundred percent.
- 37:36So when you go out into the world,
- 37:38that's when you need to be aware of
- 37:39the fact that most of us live in
- 37:40a bubble because when you go out into
- 37:42public,
- 37:44it's a whole different world out there.
- 37:46That is not your comfortable little bubble
- 37:48where thrusters and wall balls are just a
- 37:53normal thing that people do every day.
- 37:55Yeah, Joseph, no word salad.
- 37:58Again, the first five,
- 38:01ten minutes is just about his history,
- 38:03and then they get into the CrossFit stuff.
- 38:07And again, he identified who they are,
- 38:11what they need to be,
- 38:14and it wasn't like all this pump and
- 38:18blow hard stuff that you normally get.
- 38:20We're going to get thirty million
- 38:21CrossFitters.
- 38:23Good luck.
- 38:25So now that Ortega's here,
- 38:26I've got to go.
- 38:30Oh, Ortega's here.
- 38:31Yeah, we got to run.
- 38:32Bye.
- 38:33Yeah.
- 38:34He's still riding a Reese Littlewood high
- 38:36from this morning.
- 38:37Oh, dude, he was all up in it.
- 38:40That's his girl, man.
- 38:42Listen, I'm a huge fan of hers.
- 38:44I got to interview her last year after
- 38:46Syndicate.
- 38:49She's just freaking awesome.
- 38:52Absolutely.
- 38:54Yes, Amanda.
- 38:56Comparison,
- 38:57set your standard standards to find your
- 38:58dedications.
- 39:01okay on that note jacob you should put
- 39:05that on a t-shirt uh i mean just
- 39:09pedro walking around bucky's will show you
- 39:11that people don't even know what we do
- 39:13very small bubble i walked around bucky's
- 39:16after syndicate crown too place is amazing
- 39:19it it is a madhouse and there are
- 39:24not fit people there
