- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes Who Boy episodes eight sixty five
- 0:21Speaker 1: through eight sixty eight. Dark King's Direct Precept, the battle
- 0:26Speaker 1: against Katekori turns around. Finally he returns Sanji, the Man
- 0:31Speaker 1: will stop the Emperor of the Sea, lurking in the darkness,
- 0:34Speaker 1: an assassin targeting Lofy, and one man's determination. Category's deadly
- 0:40Speaker 1: big fight. It's very funny when you look at these titles,
- 0:45Speaker 1: how much they promise and how that isn't necessarily what
- 0:50Speaker 1: they deliver. I actually quite enjoyed these episodes, but they
- 0:55Speaker 1: really say a lot and then don't do that misleading.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: am Natasha. Thank you very much to Mina for commissioning
- 1:28Speaker 1: today's episode. Lena, if you are out there, appreciate you
- 1:31Speaker 1: very very much. So, yeah, four episodes today, and it
- 1:37Speaker 1: was really, honestly such a treat to just get to
- 1:39Speaker 1: watch four in a row. I don't know why four
- 1:41Speaker 1: feels like so much more of a binge than three does,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but it really was like luxurious where I was sort
- 1:49Speaker 1: of just laying there enjoying the episode. Watching it with
- 1:52Speaker 1: my dogs, and I started to be like, oh, I
- 1:54Speaker 1: think I'm almost done. I think this is the last one.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And then I checked and there was one more, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: I was like n and I just snuggled down again
- 2:01Speaker 1: and got to keep watching. So when I say that,
- 2:06Speaker 1: like these promise a lot, these titles and don't necessarily
- 2:09Speaker 1: deliver Sanji the Man Wholls Stop the Emperor of the Sea,
- 2:12Speaker 1: it just makes sound like he's gonna actually like do
- 2:15Speaker 1: the thing. Yet you know, no, he doesn't. Category's deadly
- 2:20Speaker 1: big fight is weird because like he's been fighting this
- 2:23Speaker 1: entire time, and that doesn't really change. I guess it's
- 2:26Speaker 1: supposed to be who he's targeting sort of changes, you know.
- 2:30Speaker 1: But even so, but let's begin at the beginning. So
- 2:37Speaker 1: the first of these three episodes, Loofy is continuing to
- 2:45Speaker 1: figure out how to use the observation Hockey. And it's like,
- 2:49Speaker 1: when I say figuring out how to use it, this
- 2:52Speaker 1: makes it sound like he is able to use it
- 2:54Speaker 1: at all, and that's not necessarily true. There comes a
- 2:58Speaker 1: point where he is starting to be able to tune
- 3:02Speaker 1: into it. But I really really accept that this would
- 3:07Speaker 1: be difficult for Loofy. You know, like it is just
- 3:10Speaker 1: the antithesis of his personality to slow down and like
- 3:14Speaker 1: look around him and really perceive. And I can't be
- 3:19Speaker 1: surprised that this is something that he I don't even
- 3:23Speaker 1: want to say necessarily just that he had difficulty with,
- 3:26Speaker 1: but also that like it's something that he might not
- 3:29Speaker 1: have thought was as important. You know, that this might
- 3:33Speaker 1: be something that he sort of sidelined mentally as like, oh, yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that would be cool and everything, But I've got the
- 3:42Speaker 1: other types of hockey that are great, and I don't
- 3:45Speaker 1: really need all of them, so I'll focus on the
- 3:48Speaker 1: one that's for direct conflict and that will be plenty.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And I can understand why he would think that, And eventually,
- 3:57Speaker 1: when there comes a point where it seems like he
- 3:59Speaker 1: is learning how to actually use it, Katakori is very
- 4:07Speaker 1: clearly like, oh shit. And I found it sort of
- 4:10Speaker 1: interesting to watch his attitude because I wondered if there
- 4:16Speaker 1: was going to be anything in him that was sort
- 4:18Speaker 1: of like, I'm I welcome the leveling up of my opponent.
- 4:25Speaker 1: We're on an equal playing field now, And maybe he
- 4:29Speaker 1: would kind of enjoy seeing this because there are opponents
- 4:34Speaker 1: that are like they they're more interested in the challenge
- 4:41Speaker 1: than they are in the outcome, right, and he strikes
- 4:44Speaker 1: me as that type. But we don't really get enough
- 4:48Speaker 1: of Loofy actually managing that to see it's we're going
- 4:54Speaker 1: to talk about. There's a character that Florian DMed me
- 4:57Speaker 1: about and said that he has like dolorous umbrage levels
- 5:02Speaker 1: of hatred for this woman, this girl, this little girl,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and it's Flambey and she I have to imagine that
- 5:12Speaker 1: more is going to happen with her because she just
- 5:16Speaker 1: she seems like a character that a writer like Oda
- 5:19Speaker 1: would really love. And what I mean by that is
- 5:22Speaker 1: that she can be thrown in kind of anywhere that
- 5:24Speaker 1: you really want to fuck up somebody's day. She's an
- 5:28Speaker 1: agent of chaos in a way that means she can
- 5:33Speaker 1: almost be used like a Dio six makana to just
- 5:36Speaker 1: like make whatever happen or not happen, as you know,
- 5:42Speaker 1: depends on whatever it is that you're actually looking to accomplish.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And I can't help, but like, I can't help but
- 5:51Speaker 1: worry about that a little bit in terms of like,
- 5:56Speaker 1: you know, we'll see if I'm completely off base here,
- 5:59Speaker 1: because it's certainly possible, but it's sort of odd and
- 6:04Speaker 1: I may have missed this, so forgive me if I
- 6:09Speaker 1: if I should know, and I don't, But how did
- 6:13Speaker 1: she get in the mirror world? It's her and like
- 6:18Speaker 1: a cadre of hangers on, you know, they all seem
- 6:21Speaker 1: to just be like her friends. I don't know if
- 6:27Speaker 1: it's supposed to be that she was part of the
- 6:29Speaker 1: crowd that was in there earlier and they just because
- 6:33Speaker 1: there had been a bunch of people that came in
- 6:36Speaker 1: with Lufy and Katakori and I, honestly, thinking back, don't
- 6:41Speaker 1: recall how we separated from them so utterly. So maybe
- 6:46Speaker 1: it's simply that they were like there or the whole
- 6:49Speaker 1: time and they just weren't getting involved until now. But basically,
- 6:53Speaker 1: Katakouri has this weird like motivation that it's odd. So
- 7:01Speaker 1: essentially her driving desire is that she wants to be
- 7:12Speaker 1: beloved by her big brothers and big sisters as the
- 7:18Speaker 1: favorite little sister. And honestly, we haven't met that many
- 7:25Speaker 1: like little sister or little brother types to know who
- 7:29Speaker 1: she's even really up against here, But it's just very
- 7:34Speaker 1: much like she's constantly talking about how cute she is
- 7:38Speaker 1: and the guys that she is surrounding herself with are
- 7:41Speaker 1: all thinking that she's like adorable and encouraging her, and
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think that Florian says, well, there was a big
- 7:52Speaker 1: first wave that was supposed to board the sunny and
- 7:54Speaker 1: Lufy ran away and only Category was able to follow quickly. Okay,
- 7:58Speaker 1: so they are just still in there. Okay, that's like
- 8:01Speaker 1: vaguely what I thought, but I couldn't quite remember. But yeah,
- 8:07Speaker 1: So she because she has this fixation on being the favorite,
- 8:15Speaker 1: this has resulted in her wanting to do things that
- 8:19Speaker 1: will make Kateakori happy, and she admires him greatly, So
- 8:27Speaker 1: in her mind, what's gonna do this is I will
- 8:34Speaker 1: help him win this fight against Lufy. Now, I want
- 8:38Speaker 1: to be clear, it's not really that she even thinks
- 8:42Speaker 1: of it as helping him win the fight, because in
- 8:45Speaker 1: her mind, of course he's going to win. That's not
- 8:48Speaker 1: even a question. It's simply that Kateakori is supposed to
- 8:53Speaker 1: always look flawless and the fact that Lufy is still
- 8:57Speaker 1: up and walking around and challenging him this has taken
- 9:02Speaker 1: too long. Category. It doesn't look good for Lufy to
- 9:06Speaker 1: be presenting this much of a challenge. So what she
- 9:10Speaker 1: wants to do is simply throw Loufy off just enough
- 9:13Speaker 1: that Kategory is finally able to end things and keep
- 9:19Speaker 1: his reputations as this incredible, unbeatable fighter solid, and that
- 9:25Speaker 1: he will like win the fight, turn around, see her
- 9:30Speaker 1: and realize what she did for him, and be super
- 9:35Speaker 1: grateful and then be like, oh, you truly are my
- 9:38Speaker 1: favorite little sister. And like anybody who has any knowledge
- 9:43Speaker 1: and understanding of Kategory's personality would know that that is
- 9:48Speaker 1: not what he would do. It's so blindingly obvious. This
- 9:53Speaker 1: is not a dude who wants to win at any cost.
- 9:58Speaker 1: This is a guy who wants to to actually be better.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And it doesn't matter if you win if it's not
- 10:06Speaker 1: valid to him. There are some people that's not what
- 10:10Speaker 1: counts at all, you know, they just want to look
- 10:13Speaker 1: like they want And that's apparently what she's like, because
- 10:17Speaker 1: she doesn't understand this at all, but she's having these
- 10:23Speaker 1: like fantasies in her head about how like she'll be
- 10:27Speaker 1: able to jump into his arms and they'll hug and
- 10:30Speaker 1: it'll be a moment of him thanking her for you know,
- 10:34Speaker 1: just doing a little bit of a nudge. And it's
- 10:38Speaker 1: odd because like I get that it's meant to be platonic,
- 10:42Speaker 1: but the vibe of this is so like bordering on
- 10:46Speaker 1: romantic in the way that it's done that it gets
- 10:49Speaker 1: a little uncomfortable a couple times. And it just struck
- 10:53Speaker 1: me that, like, we really need a different kind of
- 10:58Speaker 1: imagery for a platonic love versus romantic love, because we
- 11:06Speaker 1: can't just keep using like pink fluffy hearts for everybody.
- 11:12Speaker 1: It's too confusing. I don't like it. And this like
- 11:17Speaker 1: desire for validation from him, and the way that she
- 11:21Speaker 1: reacts when he rejects her feels like the reaction to
- 11:26Speaker 1: a romantic rejection as well. It's just all very odd.
- 11:34Speaker 1: So Loofy he is starting very, very incrementally to be
- 11:42Speaker 1: able to go like we're having these flashbacks of him
- 11:47Speaker 1: and Raleigh and Raley explaining you need to like zero
- 11:51Speaker 1: in and focus on your attacker and what is driving
- 11:56Speaker 1: each one of their attacks, that there's always a motivation
- 12:00Speaker 1: and there are hints and if you really manage to
- 12:05Speaker 1: slow down and don't just go wild attacking them, but
- 12:09Speaker 1: focus in, you can spot those those tells and you
- 12:15Speaker 1: can counter them. So Loofy is like, it's really, honestly, guys,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I know I said this already, but I really really
- 12:27Speaker 1: like getting to see him figure out his fucking like
- 12:32Speaker 1: level ups. It's just really satisfying to have Loofy figuring
- 12:38Speaker 1: this shit out in front of us, instead of suddenly
- 12:41Speaker 1: appearing with a new ability out of nowhere. You know,
- 12:44Speaker 1: a new ability out of nowhere that also is kind
- 12:46Speaker 1: of baffling in its execution, so you have to kind
- 12:49Speaker 1: of figure out exactly how this would even work, you
- 12:54Speaker 1: know what this means. I just really enjoy the sussing
- 13:01Speaker 1: out and thinking back and putting the pieces together of
- 13:07Speaker 1: the lessons that he has been taught and how they
- 13:09Speaker 1: apply now. It's really especially considering that after he faced
- 13:14Speaker 1: Big Mom, I was saying, like, obviously Lufy is not
- 13:18Speaker 1: up for it with Big Mom, Like he has to cook,
- 13:21Speaker 1: he has to leave and come back. And I said
- 13:23Speaker 1: something about how maybe you've got to take another two
- 13:26Speaker 1: years and level up a little bit before you could
- 13:29Speaker 1: face her again. Now, to be clear, even if he
- 13:32Speaker 1: completely masters this particular type of hockey, I don't know
- 13:40Speaker 1: that I think this makes him ready to go up
- 13:43Speaker 1: against Big Mom. Either way, this is super useful for dodging,
- 13:49Speaker 1: but I don't know if it's great for attacking unless
- 13:55Speaker 1: she's out of her fugue state. I guess remind me,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you guys, be she's got these two states. She's got
- 14:02Speaker 1: the the hunger pangs, which is the one that she's
- 14:06Speaker 1: in now, and she has the uh shit, what's the
- 14:11Speaker 1: other one? Because we talked about this before, I feel like,
- 14:18Speaker 1: is it supposed to be just during those two times
- 14:21Speaker 1: when she's basically like in a rage or hunger pangs,
- 14:24Speaker 1: those are the times where she's totally invulnerable and otherwise
- 14:29Speaker 1: she will take damage. Or is it supposed to be
- 14:32Speaker 1: that she's been invulnerable the whole entire time and it
- 14:37Speaker 1: was just that one moment of breaking her mother's portrait
- 14:40Speaker 1: that was like supposed to give us her being vulnerable,
- 14:44Speaker 1: and we missed our window, and now that's closed. I
- 14:47Speaker 1: can't remember exactly how this goes. Saraphim says Oda is
- 14:54Speaker 1: infamous for his dislike of the training arc that is
- 14:57Speaker 1: the stable of shown in series, and it shows how
- 15:00Speaker 1: much other writers use it as a crutch with how
- 15:03Speaker 1: well he makes this sort of training work. You see.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Now this is interesting because, like as you all know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I don't consume other anime. Really, the only other thing
- 15:15Speaker 1: that I covered was Oh my god, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood,
- 15:23Speaker 1: So I don't have that kind of like burnt out
- 15:28Speaker 1: so much in this same genre does this kind of
- 15:32Speaker 1: thing that I'm bringing to watching this? And now that
- 15:36Speaker 1: makes me really wonder, like would I feel differently about
- 15:39Speaker 1: this if I were consuming a lot of other anime
- 15:43Speaker 1: that was in this same type of shown in vain,
- 15:47Speaker 1: you know, like, is this something that other fans have
- 15:52Speaker 1: liked to see? Or are a lot of fans of
- 15:56Speaker 1: One Piece big consumers and feel like word of this
- 16:00Speaker 1: type of thing themselves, and so they had the opposite
- 16:04Speaker 1: response that I did to this. It's just a really
- 16:11Speaker 1: I always find this sort of thing really interesting because
- 16:15Speaker 1: there are genres that are so specific in the way
- 16:19Speaker 1: that fans react to things and that I am not
- 16:21Speaker 1: a part of at all. And so when I come
- 16:25Speaker 1: into it and I have the response I do to something,
- 16:28Speaker 1: finding out that like, oh, yeah, well this is sort
- 16:31Speaker 1: of a staple trope in this genre or you know whatever,
- 16:35Speaker 1: I just like really enjoy discovering that there's a whole
- 16:43Speaker 1: a whole sort of like discussion that's happening already around this.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It's I don't know, there's something nice about finding out
- 16:51Speaker 1: that there are that there are other fandoms and like
- 16:57Speaker 1: genre debates and whatnot that I'm not even involved in.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It makes me feel like there's a big, wide world
- 17:04Speaker 1: out there that I haven't even begun to touch on
- 17:07Speaker 1: some of this stuff yet, that even in my old age,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I might still be like finding new shit, getting in
- 17:14Speaker 1: arguments with new people. The only time she isn't nigh
- 17:21Speaker 1: and vulnerable was when she was in a daze over
- 17:23Speaker 1: Mother Carmel's picture. Okay, Florian says, there's always a training
- 17:27Speaker 1: arc when it's a fighting show at least, but there
- 17:29Speaker 1: are good ones. I think Oda could make it good,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but I'm fine with these flashbacks like here. Sarahim says, No,
- 17:34Speaker 1: most love how Oda handles it. Generally, the training arc
- 17:37Speaker 1: in other anime is not bad, just kind of decent
- 17:40Speaker 1: at best, and more just set up for the real action,
- 17:43Speaker 1: while Oda makes it part of the action. I could
- 17:46Speaker 1: see that where it's sort of like, look, watching them
- 17:50Speaker 1: level up can be fun, but we know that they
- 17:53Speaker 1: will eventually get there and that then they have to
- 17:56Speaker 1: fight the big bad. Can we just do that? And
- 18:00Speaker 1: so he has sort of found a way to like
- 18:02Speaker 1: shortcut it. Yeah, Okay, that does make sense, And like
- 18:06Speaker 1: I said, I really do enjoy the fact that we're
- 18:09Speaker 1: in the midst of this fight and we are seeing
- 18:12Speaker 1: the way that he is applying what he was taught. Yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 1: this is this is very interesting to me. I am
- 18:23Speaker 1: how to say this, I want I was about to
- 18:25Speaker 1: say I'm looking forward to getting through the end of
- 18:27Speaker 1: the series, but that's not really what I mean. I
- 18:31Speaker 1: am looking forward to getting to a point where I
- 18:34Speaker 1: don't have to worry so much about getting spoiled and
- 18:38Speaker 1: can participate more in the conversations that are happening with
- 18:42Speaker 1: the show. And it's gonna be a very tenuous thing
- 18:44Speaker 1: because I know the show is still running, so it's
- 18:47Speaker 1: not like I will ever really reach a point where
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm completely clear and there's no risk of spoilers like
- 18:56Speaker 1: probably that like will be a difficult thing to a balance.
- 19:01Speaker 1: But I am really interested in how other people respond
- 19:06Speaker 1: to the characters and the arcs and stuff, because they
- 19:10Speaker 1: have their own like baggage that they're bringing to it
- 19:13Speaker 1: from other properties that they've watched and things that they're
- 19:15Speaker 1: comparing it all to. So, yeah, that's that's all very
- 19:20Speaker 1: interesting to me. I don't know, so Anyway, I was
- 19:25Speaker 1: saying that Flombay is just really misreading her brother and
- 19:31Speaker 1: just thinks that all he cares about is actually winning
- 19:35Speaker 1: and his image, and that is not the case. So
- 19:40Speaker 1: Lufi starts to be able to dodge him, and Katakuri
- 19:45Speaker 1: is like, no way, oh shit, And at another point
- 19:52Speaker 1: he like lobs one at Lufy and he does hit him,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and he's like okay, okay. Hold On tries again, missus
- 20:01Speaker 1: and he's like all right. So it's true he's starting
- 20:05Speaker 1: to figure out the observation hockey, but it's not consistent.
- 20:10Speaker 1: He isn't in control of it yet he's able to
- 20:14Speaker 1: get it to a point. Meanwhile, Flambay is over here.
- 20:20Speaker 1: She's got these needles that I guess she's like blowing
- 20:25Speaker 1: like blow darts kind of thing. It's her, and she's
- 20:30Speaker 1: got all these guys around her who are like, I
- 20:33Speaker 1: don't remember if they're actually wielding weapons themselves, but they
- 20:37Speaker 1: are all cheering her on as if they are like
- 20:41Speaker 1: nine years old. It's very odd. And so she's shooting
- 20:46Speaker 1: Loofy with these needles to try and distract him and
- 20:50Speaker 1: get him off his game, so to speak, ruin his
- 20:55Speaker 1: focus so that Loofy is just taken down easily, and
- 21:04Speaker 1: there's just a lot of like the camera going over
- 21:08Speaker 1: to her and them talking about how stupid he looks.
- 21:12Speaker 1: He doesn't even know what happened to him. Look at
- 21:15Speaker 1: what an idiot he is, bleeding all over the place.
- 21:19Speaker 1: It's just it's it's really weird dialogue because it's like
- 21:24Speaker 1: the reaction in a way of people who've just played
- 21:28Speaker 1: like a prank, but that they're rooting for somebody to
- 21:31Speaker 1: actually die really, you know. And uh, yeah, she just
- 21:38Speaker 1: she really sucks. And I'm wondering how old she's supposed
- 21:42Speaker 1: to be because the way that she's illustrated, she's giving
- 21:47Speaker 1: like twelve or thirteen, but I feel like the way
- 21:50Speaker 1: she's behaving is giving more like nine, you know, which
- 21:55Speaker 1: doesn't sound like a lot, but if you know, you know,
- 21:57Speaker 1: like that is a big difference. And the way that
- 22:04Speaker 1: this works out is that eventually there's one spot where
- 22:10Speaker 1: I as well as Flambay, we both thought that Lufy
- 22:15Speaker 1: had dodged her needle, but then it seems that he
- 22:18Speaker 1: just literally falls down like that's wasn't a dodge so
- 22:23Speaker 1: much as him simply collapsing. Ooh, Saraphim says, Wicki says
- 22:29Speaker 1: she's fifteen. Yikes, she is a very immature fifteen. Holy shit,
- 22:37Speaker 1: that's embarrassing. Girl. Oof get a life the way that
- 22:43Speaker 1: I had better shit to do when I was fifteen.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Anyway, so category eventually he not only lands an attack
- 22:56Speaker 1: on Loofy, he starts a new attack. I think that
- 22:59Speaker 1: we haven't seen mochi aneemie, which is awful again, watching
- 23:08Speaker 1: Lufy get the like the fucking blood beaten out of
- 23:11Speaker 1: his body, it's really rough. At the very least, this
- 23:14Speaker 1: isn't like it was at the start, where he's getting
- 23:17Speaker 1: countered by the exact same moves coming from Kategori, which
- 23:22Speaker 1: was particularly embarrassing, you know, So it's not like that,
- 23:26Speaker 1: But it's just Lufy is so much more tired and
- 23:29Speaker 1: worn out that even though Kategori is landing fair blows,
- 23:33Speaker 1: it still feels sort of like unfair because Lufy is
- 23:37Speaker 1: so weakened that I'm just sort of like, you don't
- 23:39Speaker 1: need to go this hard, But the truth is yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: he does, because Lufy just keeps getting the fuck back
- 23:47Speaker 1: up again every time. And as they're fighting, this I
- 23:52Speaker 1: thought was an amazing detail. And then later on we
- 23:56Speaker 1: have another whole thing going on with this, but Kua
- 24:00Speaker 1: Koori is punching all these mirrors as well, so that
- 24:05Speaker 1: it's like there there isn't a point of escape, not
- 24:08Speaker 1: that Lufy could jump through those mirrors without let but
- 24:13Speaker 1: nevertheless closing any areas of exit, which and later on
- 24:18Speaker 1: when we're with Oven, he has one particular huge mirror
- 24:23Speaker 1: and he's like, this is where the straw hat has
- 24:28Speaker 1: to come back through. So I need all of y'all
- 24:31Speaker 1: to go into your homes and break every mirror that
- 24:34Speaker 1: you have so that he has nowhere to go but
- 24:38Speaker 1: through here. And somebody in the crowd is like, but
- 24:45Speaker 1: some of those are heirlooms, Like, we don't want to
- 24:48Speaker 1: destroy them, and he says, okay, well, if you don't
- 24:52Speaker 1: want to break it, just put it in the ocean,
- 24:55Speaker 1: which at first my instinct was sort of like, that's
- 25:01Speaker 1: not really going to keep him out, is it, And
- 25:03Speaker 1: then I realize he can't swim because of the freaking
- 25:06Speaker 1: devil fruit, so unless he's got somebody to like swim
- 25:11Speaker 1: him to the surface, that would be pretty effective, actually.
- 25:16Speaker 1: But it was just an interesting thing to have somebody
- 25:18Speaker 1: who's just like I kind of don't want to do
- 25:21Speaker 1: that because this is my great great grandma's mirror. I
- 25:25Speaker 1: like this as a means of keeping it that there
- 25:29Speaker 1: might be other exits for Lufy after all, despite what
- 25:32Speaker 1: Oven is trying to do, and that it isn't even
- 25:34Speaker 1: accidentally going to be like, oh, we overlooked a mirror
- 25:38Speaker 1: that it's going to be maybe somebody just really likes
- 25:41Speaker 1: their mirror. For God's sake, you know, I just thought
- 25:44Speaker 1: that was kind of funny. So uh. Anyway, eventually kind
- 25:50Speaker 1: of Cory spots Flambay and her friends, and she's fucking
- 25:57Speaker 1: pure a wedding and so proud of herself and just
- 26:00Speaker 1: waiting for him to patter on the head. And he
- 26:04Speaker 1: is pissed. And it's wild, you guys, because Kateakuri, you know,
- 26:11Speaker 1: he's hidden his mouth for this whole time until we
- 26:15Speaker 1: see him eating the donuts. And I didn't, you know,
- 26:21Speaker 1: I was saying that when we finally have the moment
- 26:24Speaker 1: of him, nobody is allowed to watch me eat that
- 26:27Speaker 1: delivery is still funny that I couldn't tell if it
- 26:31Speaker 1: was supposed to be like only the shame about his
- 26:36Speaker 1: mouth or if it was also a shame about the
- 26:38Speaker 1: binge eating or what you know. Well, Fumbay decides the instant,
- 26:46Speaker 1: the instant that Kateakuri tells her you fucked up, she
- 26:53Speaker 1: is going to turn around and start making fun of
- 26:56Speaker 1: him in the way that he was made fun of
- 26:59Speaker 1: when he was like in grade school and calls him
- 27:03Speaker 1: a Pelican eel mouth, which I think I compared him
- 27:08Speaker 1: to a pelican myself. I did not know that a
- 27:11Speaker 1: Pelican eel was a thing, but considering his teeth, I
- 27:15Speaker 1: think that makes a lot of sense that comparison. And
- 27:22Speaker 1: she's like mad because she starts to just basically yell,
- 27:26Speaker 1: like I can't believe I ever thought you were cool,
- 27:28Speaker 1: You're pathetic. This is embarrassing. The one eighty that she
- 27:32Speaker 1: does is it's like a dude hitting on you in
- 27:38Speaker 1: DMS on like Plenty of Fish or something, you know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: where one second you are the hottest bitch alive and
- 27:46Speaker 1: he cannot like stop telling you how beautiful and how
- 27:51Speaker 1: he wants to meet you, and then you decide to
- 27:54Speaker 1: like draw any sort of boundary and now you're just
- 27:58Speaker 1: a fat cunt who's gonna die alone. You know. It's
- 28:01Speaker 1: just like that exact type of vibe where it's girl,
- 28:06Speaker 1: you need therapy. Sometime's wrong with you, like clearly. So anyway,
- 28:11Speaker 1: we kind of have this weird resolution. I hesitate to
- 28:16Speaker 1: use that word, but I guess where Like the camera
- 28:20Speaker 1: goes away and comes back and we basically just see
- 28:23Speaker 1: her and all of her friends passed out on the
- 28:26Speaker 1: ground like Category had beat the shit out of them.
- 28:30Speaker 1: And I think that it's handled this way because we
- 28:33Speaker 1: just don't want to watch a grown ass man beat
- 28:35Speaker 1: up a child, which I think is probably true. You know,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I think this is probably the best way to handle it.
- 28:45Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a real it's a moment ooh sorry,
- 28:56Speaker 1: given their mom I fully see a lot of the
- 28:58Speaker 1: kids being very mature, that's true. Oh right, Florian is
- 29:04Speaker 1: reminding me Conqueror's hockey. That's what knocked them out. I
- 29:08Speaker 1: forgot all about the Conqueror's hockey. How could I forget that?
- 29:13Speaker 1: Because movie starts to like basically, uh, what's the word
- 29:17Speaker 1: of He's like powering it up, and I feel like
- 29:19Speaker 1: it's Flambay, Who's like, wait, he can do that, Like
- 29:23Speaker 1: she's watching him. And I had a moment of complete
- 29:27Speaker 1: brain fart where I was just like, oh, yeah, we
- 29:29Speaker 1: just cut back. Sorry, guys, it's a there's a lot
- 29:33Speaker 1: going on in these three episodes actually considering that, like
- 29:37Speaker 1: by the end, we haven't really made that much progress
- 29:41Speaker 1: into a new direction, but it's still like a lot
- 29:45Speaker 1: is happening in the meantime, if you get what I'm saying.
- 29:48Speaker 1: So anyway, forgive me, but yeah, the emperors. So we
- 29:55Speaker 1: got the Emperor's hockey, We've got the observation hockey, We've
- 29:58Speaker 1: got the armament hockey. Are there other hockeys that we
- 30:02Speaker 1: haven't there have to be right, I guess you guys
- 30:06Speaker 1: can't really tell me that. I don't know if that's
- 30:08Speaker 1: a spoiler. Florian says, in these four episodes, Oh, you're right, Yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 1: maybe that's part of it is that I watched four
- 30:18Speaker 1: and so it's just a little bit more to keep
- 30:21Speaker 1: track of than usual. Seraphim says, not just loofy, This
- 30:25Speaker 1: was Loofy and Category both unleashing it to take care
- 30:28Speaker 1: of the scubs, messing with their fight. Was I supposed
- 30:32Speaker 1: to say scrubs, Saraphim? Were you gonna say scrubs? That's
- 30:37Speaker 1: not used enough anymore. Oh. Also, Category like injures himself
- 30:43Speaker 1: because he wants to even things out so that's also
- 30:49Speaker 1: one of the things that like Flombay throws in his face.
- 30:52Speaker 1: It's just I can't believe that you would stab yourself.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Why would you even do because she has no concept
- 30:58Speaker 1: of like honor or a fair fight in any way.
- 31:02Speaker 1: But but yeah, that's right because the fact that the
- 31:07Speaker 1: two of them team up against her for a second. Look,
- 31:10Speaker 1: I've been saying that I'm pleasantly surprised by category for
- 31:13Speaker 1: a minute, and I stand by that shit. He just
- 31:16Speaker 1: I really thought he was going to be a certain
- 31:19Speaker 1: type and he is in ways, but it's very much
- 31:24Speaker 1: subverted with a bunch of other little things that I
- 31:27Speaker 1: think are very fun, and also getting to see him,
- 31:30Speaker 1: like with that crazy mouth as a kid, and he
- 31:33Speaker 1: basically is going through the exact same shit as what
- 31:36Speaker 1: Pudding went through. And I couldn't help but be like,
- 31:40Speaker 1: you'd really think that growing up there would be too
- 31:43Speaker 1: many freaks for the kids to even make fun of,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like all of Big Mom's
- 31:50Speaker 1: children look bonkers, and all of them, like there are
- 31:57Speaker 1: some I guess that are like a little more normal
- 32:00Speaker 1: looking than others, but it just feels like, how do
- 32:04Speaker 1: they choose what to make fun of when everybody is
- 32:08Speaker 1: a weirdo because of the way they are bred, like explicitly.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I just I don't know. I wouldn't mind category maybe
- 32:22Speaker 1: switching sides. I just don't even see how that works,
- 32:25Speaker 1: because he's so the whole thing for him, with the honor.
- 32:28Speaker 1: How could he change sides and turn against his family.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I just don't see it. I don't feel like that works.
- 32:35Speaker 1: The only way that I feel like that could make
- 32:37Speaker 1: any sense is him feeling profoundly betrayed, and I just
- 32:41Speaker 1: I don't even know what that would be. So yeah,
- 32:45Speaker 1: like cause low KEI, guys, I'm thinking about can we
- 32:47Speaker 1: get like another Mister two scenario, you know, somebody that
- 32:51Speaker 1: had been a baddie but then they start to be likable,
- 32:55Speaker 1: and I'm kind of over here thinking like maybe this
- 32:57Speaker 1: is somebody we could just be bloods with, you know.
- 33:01Speaker 1: In the end. Hold on, I'm trying to make sure
- 33:07Speaker 1: that I don't miss anything here, But it means that
- 33:08Speaker 1: I have to jump into the next episode with the
- 33:15Speaker 1: ending where they both summon the hockey, because it's four
- 33:18Speaker 1: episodes away. Her yelling at these guys, Oh my god,
- 33:22Speaker 1: she sucks her hair sticks out in a way that's
- 33:25Speaker 1: I think, like meant to be reminiscent of pigtails, but
- 33:29Speaker 1: it's not braided. It's just sort of like two sticks almost,
- 33:37Speaker 1: And she's like watching Loofy and making fun of him
- 33:40Speaker 1: and kind of Corey says, how long are you going
- 33:44Speaker 1: to keep doing this to yourself? And Lufy just says
- 33:49Speaker 1: until I beat your ass, which is honestly a great line.
- 33:55Speaker 1: There's a line that I had meant to mention that
- 33:58Speaker 1: had me laughing so hard both times I saw at y'all.
- 34:03Speaker 1: And it is a few episodes ago when Ovan is
- 34:07Speaker 1: watching Beje like I don't know if it's when Bejet's
- 34:11Speaker 1: ship is on land or what, but Ovans just watching him,
- 34:14Speaker 1: and he just goes, I hate that asshole, and I
- 34:19Speaker 1: lost my fucking shit, dude. He I forget that they're
- 34:22Speaker 1: allowed to say certain things on this show, so anytime
- 34:25Speaker 1: they bust out with one, it's already a bit of
- 34:27Speaker 1: a shock. And then the delivery of that line in
- 34:29Speaker 1: particular was so like dead pan, you know, so completely
- 34:35Speaker 1: just like this fucking guy. I that was extremely funny.
- 34:44Speaker 1: So okay, I'm jumping to the very end of episode four,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and right right Ray Lufy is saying to himself, sharpen
- 34:54Speaker 1: your senses, concentrate, and as he is saying this, he
- 34:58Speaker 1: gets fucking punched out out. He's trying so hard, he
- 35:03Speaker 1: really is. He's reminding me of like Arwyn a little
- 35:07Speaker 1: bit my dog, where I know she wants to be good,
- 35:10Speaker 1: she really does, but she just you know, she has trouble.
- 35:13Speaker 1: She is an add not unlike Lufy's actually, and as
- 35:19Speaker 1: he like makes himself stand back up again, another fist
- 35:22Speaker 1: slams into his face. Meanwhile, Katechory is continuing to do
- 35:29Speaker 1: like these donut attacks, which I continued to think is
- 35:33Speaker 1: a response to Lufy being like, donuts aren't even MOCHI like,
- 35:38Speaker 1: I feel like he's kind of pettily being like he
- 35:43Speaker 1: heard Lufy say that, and it's just like, no, they're not.
- 35:46Speaker 1: But you know what, I do what I want, and
- 35:48Speaker 1: so he's just leaning into the donut shape of them.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Now that's you know, Katakory, because he's a layered enough character,
- 35:57Speaker 1: I feel like I can assign that motivation to him
- 35:59Speaker 1: and it isn't out of character actually, So oh my god,
- 36:10Speaker 1: I'm trying to jump to the final episode and it's
- 36:16Speaker 1: not letting me crunchy roll is so difficult sometimes, I
- 36:20Speaker 1: swear to God, oh right, And I had meant to
- 36:24Speaker 1: mention too that watching Luviy get his ass beat is
- 36:31Speaker 1: particularly hard because of the way he's being animated now,
- 36:34Speaker 1: with this giant black eye like a big puff. You know,
- 36:41Speaker 1: it's we have we It's not like we haven't seen
- 36:45Speaker 1: him injured, but there's just something about the way that
- 36:50Speaker 1: he looks here that is particularly bedraggled. And so as
- 36:55Speaker 1: he's continuing to get slammed in the fucking face, I
- 37:00Speaker 1: was just like, bro, look at his eye. Can you stop,
- 37:04Speaker 1: It's gonna rupture or something. Okay, So yeah, here comes
- 37:09Speaker 1: the part where Category is looking at Lufy and he's
- 37:12Speaker 1: just like, I don't get it. Why did you let
- 37:16Speaker 1: up all of a sudden? I thought that you fucking
- 37:19Speaker 1: had this? And then he overhears Flombey laughing, and uh,
- 37:27Speaker 1: I'm saying Flambey. I'm realizing now it says FLOMPEII. I
- 37:32Speaker 1: was saying Flambey because that's like the name of the dessert.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I'm wondering if this is like a is this a
- 37:42Speaker 1: different way of saying that same thing, or is this
- 37:44Speaker 1: an error or what? It kind of makes sense her name,
- 37:50Speaker 1: because the whole thing with that is that you light
- 37:53Speaker 1: it on fire, and she is sort of trying to
- 37:56Speaker 1: like add fuel to the fire, so to speak. So
- 37:58Speaker 1: maybe that's why she has this name. I probably shouldn't
- 38:01Speaker 1: read too much into it, though, because a lot of
- 38:03Speaker 1: people's names don't seem to have a lot to do
- 38:05Speaker 1: with like why they're doing what they're doing. But the
- 38:16Speaker 1: attitude that she has and the way that she just
- 38:19Speaker 1: thinks that he's going to I wonder how many times
- 38:24Speaker 1: she has tried to do this sort of thing before
- 38:27Speaker 1: to like earn love from her siblings and done something
- 38:34Speaker 1: that completely fucks the whole shit up. I have to
- 38:38Speaker 1: think that this is like a sibling experience, that this
- 38:41Speaker 1: is the sort of thing that might happen when you're
- 38:44Speaker 1: a little kid, that you're trying to do something nice
- 38:47Speaker 1: and it just doesn't come across because you don't fully
- 38:49Speaker 1: understand the context of things, you know what I mean?
- 38:54Speaker 1: I don't know, that's just my guess, but yeah, So
- 38:57Speaker 1: when he yells at her, she screams in face and
- 39:02Speaker 1: uh he turns and Lufy has stood back up again,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and Lufy says they won't be able to stand after
- 39:09Speaker 1: this anyway, and they both of their eyes sort of
- 39:13Speaker 1: do the like thing the observation hockey, like you know
- 39:17Speaker 1: how that happens, and we see it like just coming
- 39:22Speaker 1: for both of them. So I guess the fact that,
- 39:24Speaker 1: like I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that
- 39:28Speaker 1: if Kadakuri can use it at the same time as Lufy,
- 39:31Speaker 1: that it keeps him from being knocked down, like Kadakouri
- 39:36Speaker 1: is doing an equal and opposite reaction in response to
- 39:39Speaker 1: Lufy that protects him somehow, or if it's just supposed
- 39:44Speaker 1: to be that, like their their clash is Voldemore and
- 39:51Speaker 1: Harry's wands just like bouncing off each other and everybody
- 39:55Speaker 1: else is purely collateral damage. And that's all it was.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Because at first I thought it was him aiming for
- 40:04Speaker 1: them because of him saying they won't be able to
- 40:07Speaker 1: stand after this, but I I don't think so. I
- 40:15Speaker 1: think maybe he is just saying, like I'm about to
- 40:18Speaker 1: use this, it's gonna hit everybody. And I don't know
- 40:26Speaker 1: the way that this type of hockey works, like if
- 40:29Speaker 1: it's something that you can even aim or not. Could
- 40:32Speaker 1: he have only knocked down Kategori if there were you know,
- 40:38Speaker 1: if there were other people that he didn't want to target,
- 40:42Speaker 1: does he have the option to not target them or
- 40:44Speaker 1: is it just sort of like a bulldozer where it's
- 40:46Speaker 1: all in one direction. And the way that Kateakori is
- 40:52Speaker 1: smiling back at him. Initially I thought this was like
- 40:56Speaker 1: Kadakori being like, yeah, fuck these assholes about his little sister,
- 41:01Speaker 1: Like yeah, I'm gonna knock him down too, because he's smiling,
- 41:05Speaker 1: and I think it's really meant to be more like,
- 41:09Speaker 1: oh shit, this kid's proving to be a real challenge
- 41:12Speaker 1: after all. And he did get back up again, so
- 41:15Speaker 1: I still have a worthy opponent that I'm up against.
- 41:19Speaker 1: And I thought that, you know, I thought he was down.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I thought that was it, And it turns out I
- 41:26Speaker 1: get to keep playing for a little while, you know,
- 41:32Speaker 1: because yeah, I really I did think Lufy was aiming
- 41:34Speaker 1: for them, But now I think that maybe it was
- 41:36Speaker 1: just a side effect. All right, So I'm going to
- 41:43Speaker 1: back up a little bit and talk about what's going
- 41:46Speaker 1: excuse me, what's going on both with the Sonny and
- 41:52Speaker 1: with Soanjy because they have brought the cake all the
- 41:58Speaker 1: way over Tony because that's where Big Mom is focused
- 42:02Speaker 1: right now, and it's you, guys. I did not understand
- 42:06Speaker 1: this choice. But Brooke, uh, oh my god, I'm so sorry.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I'll just to be clear those of you in the
- 42:14Speaker 1: chat if I wasn't like responding to you. The chat
- 42:18Speaker 1: has lately been not updating unless I actually scroll, and
- 42:22Speaker 1: it's inconsistent. So I didn't realize that you were continuing
- 42:26Speaker 1: to leave messages. It just didn't update. There's a reason.
- 42:31Speaker 1: In a big global popularity poll a few years ago,
- 42:34Speaker 1: he was the highest ranked antagonist. Ooh, some of the
- 42:37Speaker 1: weirder looking ones might get their looks from their devil
- 42:39Speaker 1: fruits that they didn't have as kids. That's true. Those
- 42:44Speaker 1: are the three at least that you know of so
- 42:46Speaker 1: far of hockey. And he has mot sheep, but he
- 42:50Speaker 1: likes donuts. Florence says, I like the way you think
- 42:52Speaker 1: about the donuts. Uh. Saraphim says, yes, it's flampey because
- 42:56Speaker 1: even her name has to be stupid. Ah, I kind
- 43:01Speaker 1: of like that. Sarah says. The way conquerors hockey works
- 43:05Speaker 1: is it can knock out people whose willpower is weaker
- 43:08Speaker 1: than the one using it. This was just both of
- 43:09Speaker 1: them flexing on the scrubs knowing it wouldn't affect each
- 43:13Speaker 1: other as to only knocking out some people. It can
- 43:16Speaker 1: be done, we saw rarely doing it that way, but
- 43:18Speaker 1: it takes training. Okay, So Kadaquory was smiling because he
- 43:24Speaker 1: was knocking his sister and all of her shitty friends out. Okay,
- 43:27Speaker 1: that's fun because like, come now, you know, I just
- 43:32Speaker 1: really don't like I don't want him to beat up
- 43:38Speaker 1: his little sister, but she something needs to happen to
- 43:41Speaker 1: this bitch. I mean, come now, she's out here just ruin.
- 43:44Speaker 1: And then look, it'd be one thing if you just
- 43:48Speaker 1: fucked up his fight, but then you've got to like
- 43:52Speaker 1: mock him like that. Ew bitch, No, I don't think so.
- 43:58Speaker 1: So the so, the thing that I was about to
- 44:01Speaker 1: say before before I realized there were a bunch of
- 44:03Speaker 1: messages I hadn't seen, was that I wasn't totally sure
- 44:08Speaker 1: about this choice that Brooke makes. Because Sanji winds up
- 44:14Speaker 1: next to the Sonny and he hops on from Beggie's ship. Now,
- 44:20Speaker 1: first of all, he is like gushing overnami, and we
- 44:26Speaker 1: do not see any reaction to that from Putting, which
- 44:30Speaker 1: I call some bullshit on if Putting saw this, which
- 44:36Speaker 1: I just don't see how she wouldn't because she's on
- 44:39Speaker 1: the ship with him, right. We had the little thing
- 44:42Speaker 1: earlier where one of the chefs is like, oh, I
- 44:45Speaker 1: forgot to put the rosettes of cream on top, and
- 44:47Speaker 1: then he just hops up there with his magic power
- 44:50Speaker 1: and you know, does it. But as a ship is
- 44:53Speaker 1: coming toward the sunny, he's making such a spectacle of
- 44:59Speaker 1: himself that all the way across the water, Nami is
- 45:03Speaker 1: going they have a noodle man on board, which is
- 45:07Speaker 1: the best. It is one of my favorite reactions that
- 45:10Speaker 1: she's ever had to him. And she says something like
- 45:13Speaker 1: he's releasing some kind of weird power. Uh huh. Yeah,
- 45:17Speaker 1: well we won't talk about that, but yeah, I really
- 45:22Speaker 1: expected Putting to see him and be like, what the fuck, dude,
- 45:27Speaker 1: and for this to be something, and it doesn't. It's
- 45:31Speaker 1: like she doesn't even see it, which I do not get.
- 45:35Speaker 1: And I also don't like the fact that he is
- 45:40Speaker 1: still reacting to Nami like this when Putting is right there,
- 45:44Speaker 1: have some respect sir, honestly, Like come now, sure Pudding
- 45:51Speaker 1: is still struggling with occasionally blurting out that probably all
- 45:56Speaker 1: his friends are dead and that nothing is going to
- 45:58Speaker 1: work out for him. I understand that might be less
- 46:02Speaker 1: than optimal, but honestly, get over it. Grow up, Sanji.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Bitches are complicated, Okay, we contain multitudes, and sometimes, you know,
- 46:13Speaker 1: considering the way that Nami behaves towards Sonji, we know
- 46:19Speaker 1: that being treated like shit is not a deal breaker
- 46:24Speaker 1: for him at all, not even at all. So and
- 46:31Speaker 1: there's also like this moment where Pudding is talking to Chiffon, who,
- 46:39Speaker 1: by the way, is such a g I really love her,
- 46:42Speaker 1: because Benji is still trying to be like, we're the
- 46:44Speaker 1: survivors and we have to look out for ourselves, and
- 46:48Speaker 1: Chiffon keeps having to be like, babe, no, no, we
- 46:54Speaker 1: made a promise and we owe them and we're not
- 46:57Speaker 1: gonna just take the fuck off. We have to go
- 47:00Speaker 1: like follow through and if we die, we die having
- 47:05Speaker 1: kept our promise. And Beji is like, you know, like,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I don't want to say that he's argumentative, because it's
- 47:14Speaker 1: not exactly it. It's just more that his instinctive action
- 47:21Speaker 1: is not that. And then when his wife is like, sweetie,
- 47:24Speaker 1: we don't do that, he stops and he's like, oh shit,
- 47:30Speaker 1: we don't do that. Okay, all right, we're gonna be good.
- 47:36Speaker 1: We're gonna be good and we're gonna do what we said.
- 47:39Speaker 1: You're right, And it's like he says something like, uh,
- 47:43Speaker 1: this is why you're my woman, because you just keep
- 47:46Speaker 1: out doing yourself or something like that. Do they have
- 47:50Speaker 1: like the purest love story? I love the two of
- 47:52Speaker 1: them together so much, the way that they are just
- 47:55Speaker 1: like supportive of one another. It's adorable. I really enjoy
- 47:59Speaker 1: him being the one that's the survivor and her talking
- 48:03Speaker 1: him out of it and him like agreeing with her
- 48:06Speaker 1: and going, Okay, yeah, we'll do it your way. It's
- 48:09Speaker 1: just nice. It's just nice. So anyway, Pudding says something
- 48:15Speaker 1: to Cheffon about like how happy she is for her
- 48:20Speaker 1: having found somebody who loves her, and Cheffon is saying like,
- 48:25Speaker 1: there's just no better feeling than that kind of devotion,
- 48:31Speaker 1: you know. And Pudding says to Chiffon like make sure
- 48:36Speaker 1: not to let go of that feeling, and Chaffon says
- 48:39Speaker 1: to her, yeah, you too, and Putting says, what do
- 48:43Speaker 1: you mean, Putting? Who do you think you're fucking fooling?
- 48:51Speaker 1: Are you serious? You fainted like twelve times today? What
- 49:01Speaker 1: do you what do you mean? What do you mean?
- 49:04Speaker 1: What do you mean? What do you mean? Really? Come now?
- 49:08Speaker 1: Please please be fucking for real. So anyway, I keep
- 49:15Speaker 1: like leaving this and coming back. But the thing that
- 49:17Speaker 1: Brook says, because Sanchi has been away a minute, he's like,
- 49:23Speaker 1: how's everybody doing? Where are Carrot and Pedro? And Brook
- 49:31Speaker 1: panics and is like, oh, Pedro and Carrot are just
- 49:36Speaker 1: worn out and they're just sleeping below decks, resting up.
- 49:42Speaker 1: And I was just watching this like, no, you did not, Brook.
- 49:48Speaker 1: He just lay like fully lies to his face. I
- 49:53Speaker 1: get that you don't want to just drop somebody's death
- 49:57Speaker 1: on a person, but like it seems like worse to
- 50:02Speaker 1: do it this way and then drop it on them later.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I think that maybe it's supposed to be that Soanji
- 50:12Speaker 1: is feeling so what's the word I want? He's feeling
- 50:18Speaker 1: so positive right now because they have the cake and
- 50:20Speaker 1: they're about to like, you know, initiate the last measure
- 50:23Speaker 1: of their plan. I think that Broke just doesn't want
- 50:29Speaker 1: to rain on Soanji's parade. I think, really that's all
- 50:34Speaker 1: it is, you know, It's just like we're about to
- 50:37Speaker 1: have a win, and I don't want to ruin it
- 50:39Speaker 1: by telling him that somebody fucking died. But yeah, I
- 50:43Speaker 1: don't know. I question this as a decision. I don't know, man,
- 50:46Speaker 1: this might be worse anyway. So what they decide to
- 50:52Speaker 1: do is continue to steer the ship away, and this
- 50:58Speaker 1: is part of where the conversation between Cheffon and Beggie
- 51:01Speaker 1: comes up. The ship with the cake, they get just
- 51:05Speaker 1: close enough that Mom smells it and she is just like,
- 51:08Speaker 1: oh baby, what is that? And she turns and begins
- 51:12Speaker 1: to follow the ship. And initially what they have been
- 51:15Speaker 1: going to do was stop at this one particular spot.
- 51:19Speaker 1: And it's Cheffon who's like, I don't think we should
- 51:24Speaker 1: do that, because I think she says something about how
- 51:27Speaker 1: there's a bunch of people that live on that island.
- 51:30Speaker 1: And once Mom comes to her senses, once she's eaten
- 51:34Speaker 1: the cake, what do you think she's gonna do? So
- 51:37Speaker 1: she's basically like, we need to go somewhere that's a
- 51:40Speaker 1: little bit more remote and also give room to the
- 51:46Speaker 1: straw hats to get away. That it's like partially that
- 51:50Speaker 1: we need to draw her in a direction where they
- 51:54Speaker 1: can like have an out and she won't be able
- 51:58Speaker 1: to turn around and just pick their fucking ship up
- 52:00Speaker 1: with one hand, because it feels like she could basically
- 52:02Speaker 1: do that. So that's the thing that she has to
- 52:07Speaker 1: like get beget to agree to, and he does. He
- 52:10Speaker 1: does eventually, but it was certainly not his instinct to
- 52:13Speaker 1: do that, which I understand. And I am like, now
- 52:18Speaker 1: that Big Mom has actually smelled the cake, she has
- 52:21Speaker 1: completely lost interest in the sonny, And now I don't
- 52:26Speaker 1: know what to expect from the Sonny because we don't
- 52:30Speaker 1: have a way. Like the whole thing had been, We're
- 52:32Speaker 1: going to meet Lufy on Cocao Island. Now everybody knows
- 52:38Speaker 1: that plan, and the mirrors are getting broken, but there's
- 52:43Speaker 1: not a better way for Lufy to like rendezvous with
- 52:49Speaker 1: the ship. I don't know if they have another option
- 52:52Speaker 1: than to go to Cacao Island if they want to
- 52:54Speaker 1: pick him back up again. So I don't know, oh man,
- 53:00Speaker 1: like the Seraphim says, but the straw Hats don't know
- 53:06Speaker 1: that everyone knows about the plan? Yeah, well, Seraphim says,
- 53:11Speaker 1: or did Sanji find out about it? I know that
- 53:13Speaker 1: Lufy knows because Brule told him and in this fight,
- 53:19Speaker 1: Category tells him. Within these episodes as well, like, oh, yeah,
- 53:22Speaker 1: we all know you're going there.
- 53:24Speaker 2: But.
- 53:26Speaker 1: The folks on the ship don't know, so I don't.
- 53:29Speaker 1: I don't think that Sonji knows and tells them, So
- 53:34Speaker 1: even if Louofy knows, it doesn't make a difference because
- 53:36Speaker 1: the ship is still gonna wind up there, I guess.
- 53:40Speaker 1: And the whole point is like, Okay, we'll scoop the
- 53:42Speaker 1: ship up, and then when Lufy inevitably has to come
- 53:45Speaker 1: out of the only mirror that's left, we'll scoop him
- 53:48Speaker 1: up too. So yeah, I guess that's where we're going.
- 53:53Speaker 1: But like, I wish there were a better way to
- 53:56Speaker 1: do this, like if we could have I'm trying to
- 54:00Speaker 1: think of like away, and all I can think of
- 54:04Speaker 1: is some means of like grabbing the one mirror that's
- 54:08Speaker 1: onka Cow Island and pulling it on to the sunny
- 54:13Speaker 1: without having to step foot on the island, without having
- 54:16Speaker 1: to bring the ship too close. And I can't think
- 54:21Speaker 1: of a way that would work. If we had Lufi
- 54:23Speaker 1: with us, his stretchy ability might be able to pull
- 54:26Speaker 1: this off, but I don't know if it would travel
- 54:28Speaker 1: that far. It's sort of inconsistent. I'm trying to think
- 54:34Speaker 1: about anybody else's abilities and whether they could make this happen,
- 54:39Speaker 1: and I can't think of anything. The closest I could
- 54:42Speaker 1: get is like, is there something that Nami could do
- 54:45Speaker 1: with the weather to get it to blow over to them,
- 54:49Speaker 1: you know, And it would have to be a real
- 54:50Speaker 1: fucking strong wind, or she'd have to get Zeus to
- 54:52Speaker 1: like pick it up and bring it. And I don't
- 54:54Speaker 1: know if he can pick things up. I mean, Mom
- 54:58Speaker 1: can ride on them, but Mom is like part of them,
- 55:02Speaker 1: you know, So I don't know if that's the same thing. Oh.
- 55:07Speaker 1: In speaking of which, Zeus's now Nami's servant, Like he
- 55:12Speaker 1: didn't agree to it within these episodes, but it's pretty
- 55:14Speaker 1: much implicit that that's going to happen, and he simultaneously
- 55:20Speaker 1: is terrified of her and hates her, but also still
- 55:23Speaker 1: really wants those yummy storm clouds. So he's basically been
- 55:27Speaker 1: strung out, is what's going on, which is fucked up,
- 55:37Speaker 1: I will mention, and I think I saw it too late.
- 55:41Speaker 1: But that Florian last time, when we were talking about
- 55:45Speaker 1: Zeus really loving those those thunderclouds to the point of
- 55:49Speaker 1: like being ready to betray his people, that with zeus
- 55:54Speaker 1: being made out of a piece of Big Mom's soul,
- 55:57Speaker 1: that that's actually like varying character for her as well,
- 56:01Speaker 1: that kind of like craving and hunger for something, And
- 56:05Speaker 1: that hadn't occurred to me that they could have the
- 56:07Speaker 1: same weaknesses that being Mom has. But that makes a
- 56:10Speaker 1: lot of sense. So I'm trying to see because there's
- 56:16Speaker 1: like there's a lot of back and forth with the
- 56:20Speaker 1: children of Big Mom. This episode, we have got Smoothie
- 56:24Speaker 1: who is out here causing some havoc. Paro Sparrow is
- 56:31Speaker 1: assigning Smoothie to basically like torment the straw hats on
- 56:37Speaker 1: their ship, and he what he says is essentially like
- 56:40Speaker 1: I want you to drive them over the edge into madness,
- 56:44Speaker 1: like essentially, and Smoothie, after she gets off the phone
- 56:48Speaker 1: with him, is like, why didn't he just ask for
- 56:50Speaker 1: that in the first place. If that was what he wanted,
- 56:52Speaker 1: I gonna do that. Smoothie remains very frightening to me.
- 56:56Speaker 1: And there are two other women that join her, but
- 57:00Speaker 1: I think are called Citron and Cinnamon. They all have
- 57:05Speaker 1: like a similar enough outfit, but Smoothie and Citron and
- 57:09Speaker 1: Cinnamon are not things that go together. I mean, I
- 57:13Speaker 1: guess citron could be in a smoothie and cinnamon and
- 57:16Speaker 1: I like a little, but like, it's weird that they
- 57:19Speaker 1: are sort of animated and presented as if they're grouping
- 57:24Speaker 1: that falls into the same category and they really don't
- 57:29Speaker 1: make sense in that way. But yeah, so Smoothie is
- 57:34Speaker 1: on that assignment and she is going after the fucking
- 57:36Speaker 1: straw Hats hard. By the end of these four episodes,
- 57:40Speaker 1: we've got Mondor who's freaking out back at home and like,
- 57:48Speaker 1: I correct me if I'm wrong, but Montor still hasn't
- 57:52Speaker 1: found out about how German Double sixx actually won that
- 57:56Speaker 1: other fight, right, Like he is still not aware of that. Yeah. Also,
- 58:02Speaker 1: a thing that like at the beginning of these episodes
- 58:05Speaker 1: is revealed, well it's not revealed because we knew already,
- 58:09Speaker 1: but uh, it's revealed to mont d'Or and a bunch
- 58:13Speaker 1: of the others about how the tamate box was like
- 58:19Speaker 1: a gift from the straw Hats and since it was
- 58:23Speaker 1: the thing that like blew up the chateau, everybody is
- 58:28Speaker 1: believing that this was planned from the beginning on purpose
- 58:32Speaker 1: by the straw Hats, that the exploding of the chateau
- 58:35Speaker 1: is like, you know, basically we underestimated them so completely
- 58:40Speaker 1: when really what happened there had nothing to do with them. Yeah,
- 58:43Speaker 1: they gifted the box, but like there were other individuals
- 58:46Speaker 1: who caused it to go off. I will be honest, guys,
- 58:50Speaker 1: this Tamate box thing is such a weird plot point
- 58:55Speaker 1: because it's like it's been dragged out enough. It's obviously
- 59:01Speaker 1: meant to mean something, but it's not in the story
- 59:05Speaker 1: consistently enough to get my attention, and it's not in
- 59:10Speaker 1: the story consistently enough for me to really feel like
- 59:12Speaker 1: I get what we're even doing with it. So whenever
- 59:16Speaker 1: it pops back in, I'm like, oh, that thing we're
- 59:20Speaker 1: still talking about that, Like, I get kind of annoyed
- 59:23Speaker 1: by it. I feel like this is a real weak
- 59:25Speaker 1: link that if we wanted to do something more with this,
- 59:29Speaker 1: then we should have been leaning into it a bit harder.
- 59:32Speaker 1: And if we're not doing anything with it, then why
- 59:36Speaker 1: are we doing anything with it? It just doesn't feel
- 59:40Speaker 1: balanced to me. I just don't I don't really get what.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Like at first, I thought it was gonna play the
- 59:49Speaker 1: role of like a mcguffin, sort of in the style
- 59:52Speaker 1: of pulp fiction where you open the briefcase and everybody's
- 59:56Speaker 1: impressed by what's in there, but you never see what's
- 59:58Speaker 1: in there, and it's just a thing, you know what
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I mean. I thought it would kind of do that,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: and then it's become more of another thing that seems like, uh,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: it's just I don't know. It's in the mix in
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: a way that's it almost feels like a backdoor pilot
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: for something else, if that makes sense, Like if you've
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: ever seen an episode of something that was a backdoor pilot,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I think you get what I mean, where it's like,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: stop trying to make fetch happen. It's not gonna happen.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I just don't really like it. And so this whole
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: reveal of like, oh, they brought the tomate box and
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: they did the thing. I don't like. We just don't
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: need this. There's plenty already on the table. Why is
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: this necessary? I don't know. It just did not work
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: for me. Florian says it is the weirdest ODA never
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: misses except here in my opinion. Okay, I'm glad I'm
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: not the only one that feels that. Sarahim says, it
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: makes sense to me. We knew it was a big bomb.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: It's not a big we knew everything. This was just
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: them finding out. I know that. I mean I said that.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: That's not my point. It's it's the fact that it's
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: not a big reveal, but that it's this. That's what
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I mean is that its function feels so like, oh yeah,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: we gotta squeeze this into the story. The fact that
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the bomb went off and busted up the chateau isn't
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: even really that big a part of the original conflict
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: in the first place. Anyway, I forgot that even happened.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Purely what I was like thinking of with everything popping
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: off was putting failing to kill Sangy and then Lufy
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: leaping out of the cake and destroying it all going haywire.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: And I know that there was the explosion and a
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: whole other thing happened, but that does not.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Feel important at all, and it doesn't feel like we
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: need another thing for them to be like, oh, so
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: the straw hats are even more intimidating because they did
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: this thing.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Like I feel like they We've already got enough and
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: it's just a weird it doesn't fit to me. It
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: just doesn't really do anything. It's unnecessary and every time
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: it's brought up, it brings things to this screeching halt.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Like when we actually have the scenes of these people
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: fighting over the Tamante box as well, I was just
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: sort of like, what is this? Why are you know?
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Why are we watching this? And it's purely to have
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: it go off, which you could have accomplished the destruction
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: of the chateau any number of ways, and this just
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: feels like a bizarre backward way to do it. Yeah,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I don't know, I just don't. I don't like it.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: So it's the one thing in this arc that I'm like,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: everything has been working super well, and then the Tamante
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: box gets brought up and I'm like, oh, that's not
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: even part of this. Stop it, even though it is.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: But I feel like that's a pretty good track record
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: as far as the arcs go, because like usually there's
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: a few things I can point to, you know, and
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I've been impressed with how well this are considering the
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: fact that, like if you had told me forty episodes
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: later that we would still be watching Mom crossing the
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: ocean saying where's my wedding cake? I would have been like, Okay,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: count me out, you know, just as a like on
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: the surface, it just sounds like ooh rough, you know,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: but he has managed to have there be so many
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: other things going on that are actually interesting, with characters
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: that we've actually started to really like. And that's the key,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: I think, is to make these people like, how can
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: you not root for Bejet and how can you not
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: love putting Ensangi together? Do you remember fucking Rebecca? Oh
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: my god, what a complete waste of space. I will
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: never recover from how poorly that was handled on every level.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Worst character. Like I really dislike viv for a number
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: of reasons, but Rebecca is definitely like number one worst
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: character to me. I think it's also just the fact
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: we spent so much friggin' time on her her story
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: as well for something that's so weak sauce, I would
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: love to spend as much time with Chiffon and Beggi
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: and Pound as we spent with Rebecca and her whole
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: history with her father and whatnot. Like, I would be
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: fine with that because I actually like Chiffon and I
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: actually want Pound to like be reunited with his daughter,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: you know. And it's weirdly when you think about it,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like kind of a similar plot line because it's a
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: man who was kept from his daughter in this way
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: that he didn't have control over and his daughter not
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: knowing that's him, but he's like around and him desperately
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: wanting this relationship with her, Like it's a really similar thing,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: but it's actually people who are cool that I like.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: It can't be done, so thumbs up. I am so
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: sure that I'm forgetting something, guys, And I can't remember
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: what it is because they were four, it is a
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: little bit more to track, but uh yeah, I don't know.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I'm trying to think if there's anything that is very
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: like important, and I feel like I touched on most
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: of it, so if there's anything, I'll just have to
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: bring it up next time. Ooh, Florian says, well, next
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: up live action? Oh shit, really it's not another one
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: of these. Oh my god, hold on, I'm going yep,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: the twenty fourth. Oh, I'm excited. I'm so excited, guys.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I think I'm going to rewatch the first season just
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: to like freshen myself up for it. I'm so stoked, smoker. Oh,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I can't wait for that. Oh boy, Okay, okay, yay, Well,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: I want more of this arc. I'm still probably gonna
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: watch the next episodes anyway, I'll just rewatch them before recording. Uh,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: but yeah, definitely, like very excited for the live action.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: That'll be fun. Sarah Fim says, now start the bedding
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: pool on if she will like live action, VIVI, I
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: really hope so. I feel like the show has done
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: a really good job of boiling down things that were
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: too bloated, and Viv I think you, like I've said before,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: on paper, she sounds really cool, and in action she wasn't.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: So if we just take the elements on paper and
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: really lean into those and stop it with the constant
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: like cry screaming and incompetence, then we could we could
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: have something. You know, I think that could still work.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So I hope. So, I hope that she's that they
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: just avoid what she fell into as the cartoon it
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: was just not We'll see. Oh boy, I'm excited. All right, everybody,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I have to wrap. Thank you all so much, and
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: until next time to the lum motherfuckers. That was an
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: unspoiled network past
